The Way Of The Dragon By Bruce Lee
Legend
By reading, Fighting Spirit, Eurasians and watching the movie the Way of the dragon. You can
see that Bruce Lee s took much pride in the way he thought about things when it came to race,
gender and sexuality. We can see how Bruce Lee s life and career reveal the Issues of race, gender
and sexuality.
In the book Eurasians you can see that there are a lot of factors that play into the how they were
treated in the U.S Bruce Lee was Eurasian and was an excellent spokesperson for helping Eurasian
to acclaimed in the U.S. Bruce looked at race, gender and sexuality. Although the book is not
about Bruce Lee s life only, it has a lot to do with Bruce s morals and how he was expose to
things that went on in his life and what he had to deal with when he came to the U.S. When
looking at race Eurasian is a mixture of Europe and Asian people.
They had relationships and they had kids. This relates to Bruce because hit mother was apart of
this. According to the book Eurasians they looked at people from two different cultures
combining to make one whole new culture. Early in the formation of the American republic there
emerged a compelling vision of the nation as a place where a new American race (Teng, P.33) if
you were able to look at the big picture then you would be able to see that with the two races
mixing to form one it only help and did not hurt people.
Not only did this Idea affect Bruce it also had an impact on generations to come. For example

Cave Paintings
The part of the reading that had me most engaged and interested was the section on the cave
paintings done by the early humans. The way that they painted these images were just so intricate
and with so much detail, it had me in awe. The fact that some of these animals seemed to be drawn
in motion gives me the inclination that it was something more meaningful than drawing for the
sake of making art, a lot of time and effort must have been spent on this for it not to have some sort
of humanmeaning. In the reading, it says that the one drawing that was thought to be of sick or
injured bison were actually depicting the mating dance and rituals of these majestic creatures. In the
reading it says the meanings of these paintings could have been

Lincoln Memorial Essay
Washington, DC is a spectacular place. This being my first time in DC, I was in awe of everything
and all the historical places I encountered. The presence of the monuments and history is what
made the capitol so magnificent. Having only read about the Lincoln memorial, I never had the
chance to experience the sensation of being inside such an honorable place of importance. The
imposing white marble walls of the memorial and the many people surrounding it could be seen
from afar. Arriving at the location, an unknown feeling came over me. I was experiencing history in
a whole different level. When I think about a memorial, the term remembrance comes to mind.

Building this memorial was surely the right way to go. There were many people of all ages,
ethnicity, and class. All the people gathered at the memorial created a sense of unity although we
were all there for different purposes. Many of these people were in high spirits and were enjoying
themselves.
While researching and reading about the history of the memorial, I found interesting things that
stood out. An example of this was the story behind the structural design. The architecture of the
chamber inside the memorial means something itself. Different stones from different states were
used in the creation of the chamber. According to the DC Pages , The terrace walls and lower
steps consisted of granite blocks from Massachusetts, the upper steps, outside front wall, and
columns contained marble blocks from Colorado the interior walls and columns were Indiana
limestone, the floor was pink marble from Tennessee the ceiling tiles were made up of Alabama
marble, and the Lincoln statue encompassed 28 pieces of marble from Georgia . The structure of
the memorial was built on different marble stones to signify what Abraham Lincoln stood for.
Henry Bacon who was behind the design of the memorial chose these stones to tell a story. The
stones symbolized that although a country was torn apart by war and hatred, it can still come
together to build something as significant as the memorial. The stones explain the reunification of
the states. The memorial not

A Lexical Pragmatic Analysis of Proverbs in Femi...
This essay is a pragmatic reading of moral and socio political decadence in Femi Osofisan s
Midnight Hotel. It does this by analyzing ten out of twenty five proverbs deployed in the text. In
analyzing the proverbs, this essay observes that each has at least an ad hoc constituent which
requires semantic modulation to get at the meanings of the proverbs. This modulation is not
arbitrary, but contextually negotiated until the reader reaches his optimal relevance.
Wilson and Carston argue that metaphors are cases of ad hoc constructions (7), for instance,
when a speaker says, The boy is a lion . While a literary scholar would see this as metaphorical,
Wilson and Carston believe that the above sentence is a case of the use of an ad hoc ... Show more

One of such is with Ossie Onuorah Enekwe where he says that:
To get desperately close to the spectator, to each and every one I have trapped in the darkness or
half light, to penetrate very close and intimate, like a knife in the ribs. I want to make that spectator
happy but uncomfortable. I want to turn him open, guts and all, spice him, cook him in the filthy,
stinking broil of our history. I want him washed inside out, in the naked truth, and then I sew him
back again a different man. (18)
The playwright s closeness to a reader of Midnight Hotel is predicated on the contemporary subject
matters raised in the text. It is true the essence of the play is to effect a social change (as it is with
most literary works), but this change cannot occur if the reader finds it difficult to comprehend
what the text says. Thus this essay lends a hand in that direction, by working out an easy,
systematic, pragmatic format for understanding Osofisan s Midnight Hotel.
Commenting on the playwright s art, Awodiya submits that Osofisan is prolific and theatrically
fertile in creating flexible dramatic forms that have great stage adaptability (15). Awodiya further
notes Osofisan s penchant for invoking traditional African elements of music, dance, songs, mime
and improvisation (15). One of such is proverbs with which he attaches the African sense. Awodiya
acknowledges that

Sector: Consumer Services / Industry: Broadcasting Radio
Challenge Years: Pre and Post 2007 (merger)
Introduction:
* Sirius and XM, separate companies, began to compete in the satellite radio business in 2001 and
2002. Target market was car drivers and daily commuters who listened to their local radio stations
that they preferred, but were limited to small service areas and less range and would lose frequency
once out of that locality. Wall Street believed that satellite radio was the next opportunity in
consumer electronics.

* In November 2001, Margolese stepped down as CEO, remaining as chairman until November
2003, with Sirius issuing a statement thanking him for his great vision, leadership and dedication
in creating both Sirius and the satellite radio industry. Joe Clayton, former CEO of Global

Pros And Cons Of The Snail Darter
Did you know that many big rivers and lakes have dams to control the water flow? I grew up in a
place that did not have many big bodies of water which made it hard to really appreciate what
dams do to help the environment. However, the Tellico Dam is a controversial issue. The Tellico
Dam was a planned to be built by the Tennessee Valley Authority, but got delayed once they
discovered a endangered species. Where the government was allowing the Tennesseans to build the
dam, in Lenoir City, Tennessee, there was a small population of a rare species of fish, the Snail
Darter. The Snail Darter is a very small species of fish found in Eastern Tennessee freshwater. A
little bit larger than the average paperclip, this animal is part of the perch family and primarily
feeds on aquatic snails. The females can lay about 600 eggs a year. Found in shallow water, the
darters, in captivity, only live up to about four years and even less in the wild. Completing the
dam would likely wipe out the Snail Darters in that area, and the Darter could become an extinct
species. I believe that we should keep the Endangered Species Act strong to protect animal and
plant species such as the Darter. My reasons for this are that the act protects our native species,

helps many ecosystems. This act was signed by the president of the time, Richard Nixon. A species
being endangered means that the species is likely to go extinct without help. A species being
threatened means that the species could soon become and endangered species without help. The

Explain How To Be A Woman In The Early 1800s
How To:
Be A Woman In The Early 1800s
Home Life:
In the 18oo s, everything that a woman could do was dictated by the man in her home. They
were treated as property, first of their father, then to the man they would marry. A woman s only
life goal was only ever to get married. Marriage was the only way for a woman to keep wealth (until
1839, when the Married Women s Property Acts allowed women to be legally separated from their
husbands) was through the marriage of a wealthy gentleman, despite everything else. Once
married, women were expected to stay home and care for their children. Women would also rarely

To ensure that these technologies are implemented and administered properly, it is essential that
policies be written and training provided for an effective security program. Here are the following
recommended technologies that Bank Solution s should incorporate into its security plan.
Vulnerability Scanning
Vulnerability Scanning is the art of using one computer to look for weaknesses in the security of
another computer (Houghton, 2003). Just like any other security tool or software available, there
are many forms of vulnerability scanning. Each of these methods provides a specific task to help an
organization determine the security of their networks. These forms of vulnerability scanning are
called:
External
Internal
Active
Passive
These forms of vulnerability scanning are then applied by two types of vulnerability scanners that
scan an organization s network, they are:
Network based
Host based
Finally, the most important thing to understand about vulnerability scanning is that it is a
requirement for Bank Solutions to conduct these scans to meet compliance with Federal regulations.
Costs
The costs for vulnerability scanners run from free to tens of thousands of dollars. It is up to the
CISO and the IT staff to assess what services they require and to choose a scanner that best fits their

Relationship Between Mathematics And Logic With Boolean Logic
Almost everyone at some point their life has used a computer. Most people haven t thought about
how they work or operate. Those who have, often enter the field of software development. The
relatively new field of software development has many advantages and opportunities, including
good pay, and good opportunities to advance in this wide open and quickly growing job field.
Programing has been around much longer than most people think. Some experts consider the
earliest programing was completed in France as early as 1804 by Joseph Marie Jacquard. He
used punch cards for a loom that predefined tasks for the machine.( 1. Introduction to Software
History. Introduction to Software History. Web 7). Several years later, Charles Boole, a British
mathematician proved the relationship between mathematics and logic with BOOLEAN logic
(binary) in 1847. (4) The only characters in BOOLEAN logic are 0 meaning false, and 1 meaning
true. Although it will be nearly 100 years before BOOLEAN logic will be used in computers, it
was still a huge breakthrough. (11) Some advancements in software were reinvented, due to the
work not becoming public or prohibited from becoming public.(6) Much like hardware, software
was developed in large distinguishable steps. (6) The first computer programs had one purpose, and
the hardware must be changed to run a different program. At first this is how computers were
developed. This all changed when John Von Neumann, working at the Institute for Advanced

Romantic Love In The Hunger Games, By Suzanne Collins
North American media is known in many forms to include a romantic subplot between the main
protagonist and a major side character, underneath the main morals and plot the story conveys.
These romances in media, particularly films and novels, are uncreative and dissatisfying. They
distract from major events within the narrative and divert the reader s attention away from the
author s message and morals they are trying to impart. Also, the undermining of female characters
is a major issue faced in the writing of these romances into stories. Many narratives, though, may
originally have good intentions with the insertion of a relationship, but society s glamorisation of
romantic loveholds them on a pedestal until they ve turned stale, so in turn... Show more content on

The romance in a fiction becomes the main question in social outlets and frequent questions like
Team Peeta or Team Gale from The Hunger Games fans arise. As a society we hypersexualise
and romanticise our media, so a story like The Hunger Games theme is ironically missed. This
trilogy, written by Suzanne Collins, revolves around Katniss and her society s yearly ritual to
force children to kill each other in a so called entertaining way, with media coverage. Katniss too,
falls in love with a boy, and they manage to survive a reaping together. The characters are
glamorised by the media within the book, ignoring the deaths of children, as Suzanne Collins tries
to hint to real society what the media does. Immediately, the story took off and the love triangle
popularised within the book became real, and media outlets ask fans the same question, ignoring the
ideologies the author provided. The relationship within this narrative stood for an important point
within the plot of the story, negating previous arguments and not in itself disappointing, yet media
distorts it, turning it into a dissatisfying love triangle. The major fault in media s coverage of these
relationships is it falls in line with both aforementioned faults of romance in novels, how it clouds
the author s morals and intentions of writing, and with this engrossment in a single point, the media
doesn t only demean the female characters, but any character, as the only involvement of characters
in discussion is who they are in a relationship

Ethicality of the Events Terry Reed wants to record $1.2 million of Data Equipment Systems sale
before 2010 ends. The motivation of his intent is to meet the revenue estimate, and so to secure the

sales where the goods are held for future delivery. But Reed is prepared to accelerate the revenue by
all means. Fuller then called the accounting team for alternative solution to satisfied Reed s

Offered by the Accounting Team The accounting team of Excello Telecommunications come up
with three alternatives: 1.Transfer the product to an off site warehouse owned by the home
company by December 31 and hold until January 11 for shipment. 2.Transfer the product to Data
Equipment by December 31 and agree that the customer could return for a full refund after it
arrives. 3.Offer the customer a 10% discount to take the product by December 31. The first
alternative is unethical. Although the merchandise is off the site, but it still remain as Excello
property. So the sale doesn t occur, therefore the recording of sales is false. The second alternative
is definitely illegal. For transferring the merchandise to the customer company then return it to

1.3 Skopos theory
I will use the skopos theory to support my ideas in this whole thesis, which will be explained
roughly in this paragraph and in detail with instance in the following part. Skopos theory is the
most important part of the German Functionalist School. It was first advanced by Hans J.Vermeer
and improved by Justa Holzв€’Manttari and Christiane Nord later. The word skopos comes from
Greek, meaning purpose, motive and function . The point of this theory is the principle of
purpose, defined by those German Functionalist translators as every activities of translation is
decided by the purpose of translation, which in one word means method depends on purpose
(Reiss and Vermeer 1984: 101; Nord 2001: 29).
Generally speaking, the skopos theory believes that the result decides the method. So this theory
solves the contradiction between some of the traditional western translation theory, such as
equivalent value , equivalent effect and functional equivalence . It discards the traditional western
translation standard, believing that the quality of a translation is not judged by its equivalent value
or equivalent effect with the original version but the adequacy with the purpose of translation. It
means that translation can use various methods to translate, such as literal translation or rewrite or
any method between these two, as long as it can help to achieve the expected function of the

Death And The King s Horseman Analysis
Sarah Goodson
Dr. Babcock
ENG 239
28 September 2017
Prompt 1
In Wole Soyinka s play, Death and the King s Horseman, the English presence in Nigeria is well
established. As each scene goes by the audience can feel European colonialism lurking heavily in
the background. With this English influence on the Yoruba people the community is swept with
unsteadiness and conflict. The dominant events in Soyinka s play symbolize a larger conflict;
although the English believe they are shedding light and bringing progress to the Nigerians, the
Nigerians don t welcome these foreigners and only wish to continue their cultural ways in peace.
Soyinka argues that although the English believe what they are doing is necessary, they are the
ones who are intruding on someone else s culture and they should respect that, no matter how
uncivilized or odd it may seem.
Not accepting and misunderstanding one another s culture is a leading conflict in this play. The
Yoruba community has very different beliefs on death compared to the English. When speaking of
death, Elesin states: When the hour comes watch me dance along the narrowing path gazed by the
soles of my great precursors. My soul is eager (Soyinka, 10). In contrast, Jane believes that this
view is nonsense. Life should never be thrown away deliberately (Soyinka, 42) The Yoruba
community celebrates death and welcomes the afterlife. While the English fear death. This
misunderstanding and lack of acceptance of cultural differences leads Pilkings to act on what he
thinks is best, when it is not what is best for the community.
Throughout the novel the Yoruba culture continually is disrespected by the colonists who invade
their community. In the play Pilkings and his wife Jane are dressed in egungun costumes which
they confiscated from cult leaders. Amusa pleads with Pilkings and Jane to take them off. They
respond saying You don t believe this nonsense do you? I thought you were a good Muslim. (
Soyinka, 19) Jane and Pilkings are surprised that Amusa can still respect the Yoruba culture while
believing in something different. Amusa can t stand it any longer and leaves saying I treat egungun
with respect before running off ( Soyinka, 20). Amusa represents what Soyinka is

Silas Two Analysis
When Silas Both was 14 years old he didn t want to grow up and be old. He had a mission to
create a no growth serum so he could stay 14 forever. He spent countless hours every day to
produce this serum that would change the world. His experimenting took his whole freshman year
until he found the correct combination of ingredients (he has not disclosed the list of ingredients
yet).
His first test was on rats, where Mr. Both found that the rats did not grow in size and also died at
a later age than normal rats without the serum. Silas then took a chance and tried it at himself. He
noticed in the next year that he did not grow like you would as you age. During his last 2 years at
high school many people noticed that he didn t grow at all and asked for his secrets. Silas had not
tested his product on any other humans besides him so he was hesitant at first, he took many
precautions before he let other people try the serum. When other people took it he noticed they had
slight side effects such as stomach pain and headaches for the following week but nothing after. It is

The Line Of Iphones
The history of the line of iphones begins with a direction from steve jobs to Apple Inc s engineers,
where he asked them to investigate touchscreens and tablet computer, which later came to the
invention of the Ipad. Also, many have noted the devices similarities to Apple s previous touch
screen portable device, the Newton Message Ipad. Like the Newton, the Iphoneis nearly all screen.
Its form factor is credited to Apple s head of design, Jonathan Ive.
In April 2003 at the All Things Digital executive conference, Jobs expressed his belief the tablet
PCs and traditional PDAs were not good choices as high demand market for apple to enter,
despite many request made to him that Apple create another PDA. He did believe that cell
phones were going to become important devices for portable information access and that what
mobile phones needed to have was excellent synchronization software. At the time, instead of
focusing on a follow up to their Newton PDA, jobs has Apple put its energies into the Ipod, and
the Itunes software released on september 7 2005. Apple and Motorola released the ROKR E1, the
first mobile phone to use Itunes. Jobs was unhappy with the ROKR and released a version of Itunes
that included references to an as yet unknown mobile phones that could display pictures and video .
Ed Zander inspired steve jobs with motos multimedia and smartphone product concept. In result,

Michael And Salhab s The Knights Templar
In the book The Knights Templar of the Middle East, The Hidden History of the Islamic Roots of
Freemasonry, the authors Michael and Salhab assert that Hughes de Payens family background
was rooted in Shiite and Sufi mysticism (p. 68). Hughes de Payens was the co founder and Grand
Master of the Knights Templar. Like the early history of the Templars, little is known about
Payens since sources about his life are certainly lacking. So we are left to wonder where Michael
and Salhab has gotten this tantalizing detail. Sufism itself seems to have strong Gnostic undertones
in the belief that Muslim seeker is striving for hidden, divine knowledge and love through direct
personal revelation from God (or Allah), without the need for a priest, vicarious... Show more

This view was upheld by many including the great poet, Dante Alighieri. However, as the
Enlightenment period dawned on the great thinkers, the Templars were seen more as victims of
heresy as there was a strong Gnosticizing trend in eighteenth century thought. This was also
evident in the mystical illumination roots of the Enlightenment area in the hermetic traditions of
Renaissance Neo Platonism and Cabbalism. Indeed, many of these thinkers, including Albert
Pike and Purgstall claimed that the Templars were secretly Johannite Gnostics who also
venerated Zoroaster and Manes. They were essentially a secret society totally opposed to the
Church but outwardly were completely loyal to the Church and the Pope. Partner writes, Their
spiritual independence of the Church was not based on any low or vulgar magical powers of
conjuring, but on the possession of a veritable house of knowledge, a Temple of wisdom which
was symbolized by the name of their Order (xviii). Then there is the view that the Templars were
not at war with Islam but were in fact in league with the Ismaili sect of the Assassins, who were
secret philosopher mystagogues who initiated the Templars in the precepts of their House of
Wisdom. Purgstall would wonder the same thing, when he wrote: What wonder that those knights
confederated with the Assassins and imbued with their nefarious doctrine and, passing time in
Syria, affected by the error of the Syrian sects, waging war in the Orient, indulged the same defect
conjointly for themselves in all the Oriental

Advantages Of Proactive And Reactive Routing
Hybrid (both proactive and reactive) routing
This type of protocol combines the advantages of proactive and reactive routing. The routing is
initially established with some proactively prospected routes and then serves the demand from
additionally activated nodes through reactive flooding. The choice of one or the other method
requires predetermination for typical cases. The main disadvantages of such algorithms are:
1.Advantage depends on number of other nodes activated.
2.Reaction to traffic demand depends on gradient of traffic volume.
Examples of hybrid algorithms are:
ZRP (Zone Routing Protocol) ZRP uses IARP as pro active and IERP as reactive component.
ZHLS (Zone based Hierarchical Link State Routing Protocol)
Hierarchical routing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Routes are established on demand, as they are needed. However, once established a route is
maintained as long as it is needed. Reactive (or on demand) routing protocols find a path between
the source and the destination only when the path is needed (i.e., if there are data to be exchanged
between the source and the destination). An advantage of this approach is that the routing
overhead is greatly reduced. A disadvantage is a possible large delay from the moment the route is
needed (a packet is ready to be sent) until the time the route is actually acquired. In AODV, the
network is silent until a connection is needed. At that point the network node that needs a
connection broadcasts a request for connection. Other AODV nodes forward this message, and
record the node that they heard it from, creating an explosion of temporary routes back to the
needy node. When a node receives such a message and already has a route to the desired node, it
sends a message backwards through a temporary route to the requesting node. The needy node then
begins using the route that has the least number of hops through other nodes. Unused entries in the
routing tables are recycled after a

A Modest Proposal Rhetorical Analysis
During the late seventeenth century, political pamphlets were distributed throughout Ireland to
promote the ideas of various intellectuals and laymen. However, many discarded them and did not
pay attention to them. Jonathan Swift, author of A Modest Proposal, takes lead for these unnoticed
pamphlets and builds a proposal he thinks would help Irelandeconomy. A Modest Proposalis an
ironic example that presents the attitude of rich towards poor and their starving kids. Jonathan uses
various elements like metaphors, repetitions, irony and parallelism to focus on destructive defiance
of the writing. Jonathan swiftstarts by blaming the mothers of these children that they should start
working and get some earning to support these kids. He also foretells the future of these children
that they will turn into thieves or sell themselves to foreign countries for money. According to
Swift, it is just because the parents did not train their children the unassertive way of life and
could not give them a proper lifestyle. In A Modest Proposal Jonathan Swift does not blame the
shortcomings of Ireland on the people. He says that the people, politicians, and English were all to
be at fault for the terrible state and poverty of Ireland. there are three factors that make Swift s
argument not serious: the tone of the author, his insincerity, and ridiculousness of the proposal.
Swift states that because these women kept having children and could not provide food to them,
the economy of Ireland and standard of living couldn t improve. So, he makes a proposal to the
public that he thinks would be beneficial for them. His way of thinking and argument is incorrect
in what he is proposing as He marks that young healthy children are delicious food to be roasted,
stewed and boiled to be served and eaten by rich British people. Similarly, he estimates that twenty
thousand kids should be held in reserve for breeding purposes. This brutalizes how children should
be treated like animals. Jonathan swift trying to support his argument, in a very sarcastic way
states that certain body parts of children are good to eat and on special occasions could be held on
demand. furthermore, he advises that healthy and nourished kids could be

medieval brutality and barbarism, [Giorgio] Vasari claimed, Italian artists and thinkers had bravely

The cultural elite of the time was bringing the ideas, moral values, art, and civic mindedness back

Republican Rome (Backman, page373). Pier Paolo Vergerio, and early Renaissancewriter on

For the consequences of wiping out American cities with atomic weapons would result in the
simultaneous destruction of Soviet cities from an American counter attack. The ultimate result
would be mutually assured destruction on both sides. The ecological reprocussions from such a
scenario would be disasterous. Both the Americans and the Soviets had enough nuclear weapons to
not only wipe each other off the map, but also enduce a global nuclear winter which is when the
nuclear fallout is so thick it blocks out the sun, lowering the global climate, killing of plantlife,
animal life which depended on that plantlife, and ultimately causing a complete food chain

Persuasive Essay On Habitat Loss
Habitat loss is a very real and very serious problem that goes on in our world today in every country.
An important species that has been experiencing habitat loss, which has caused them to become
endangered, is the sea turtle. Sea turtles have been on earth for over 110 million years and the fact
that humans have been able to introduce this much damage to them is crazy. Sea turtles are not
only extremely important to marine environments, but also to environments on shore. If sea turtles
were to go extinct, the oceans would become dead. Sea grass is one of the most important things
that are included in a sea turtles diet. When sea turtles eat sea grass, it actually helps it grow, which
small fish, shellfish and other small marine life live in. If sea turtles go extinct, this would
eventually die and with it, all marine life. The shore would suffer because sea turtles nest on the
beach and their eggshells provide nutrients to the beach, which helps beach vegetation grow and
keep the sand from eroding. Beaches have a hard time growing vegetation and sea turtle eggs help
with this problem the most efficiently.
Many ocean conservations have been trying their best to help protect sea turtle nests, which would
help replenish the sea turtle population. Sea turtle eggs and hatchlings have to try their best to
protect themselves from predators, which seem to be everywhere when sea turtle eggs and
hatchlings are around. Birds, foxes and fish are just some of the predators that prey on

So QALY gained would mean same for all diseases and Incremental cost effective ratio would be
the additional money required to gain per QALY. The threshold is currently set between В
Ј20,000
ВЈ30,000 per QALY4,5 which means if the new medicine/product s ICER value is below this
threshold this will be recommended by NICE as cost effective and if it is higher it will not be
recommended.
Drawbacks with the current approach of QALY:
Current approach by NICE is though very useful in terms of getting a quantitative assessment
however the QALY approach does have some drawbacks. Some of these drawbacks are listed
below:
No room to assess the innovation of a new product
Subjective nature of scales to assess QALY (EQ 5D),
No assessment of burden of illness
No assessment of negative impact on society
No assessment of wider societal benefit
Proposal to Modify the current approach
A proposal for NICE to modify their current approach is vital in order to improve the process. One
key thing would be to assess the degree of innovation of the new product/device/medicine. Let s
review first what innovation means and what can be the process improvement.
Definition of Innovation
The word innovation has many

Lyddie By Katherine Paterson Summary
Should workers sign a petition? The book, Lyddie, written by Katherine Paterson, is about a girl
named Lyddie who lived in the 1700 s, working in the factories. In the factories, the workers
were forced to endure the poor environment and a lack of safety working with the machines. Also
the workers were under paid, had long working hours, and the atrocious, dissatisfactory, and lousy
living conditions that were unacceptable. However, signing a petition could help improve work
areas and protect workers rights. The book shows all the hardships and the effects of poor working
environment on Lyddie and the other workers. Living Environment Some may argue that the
factories treat workers well by giving workers a place to stay. However,... Show more content on

For example, the workers earned more money than they did in other places. The book says, The
pay reflected her proficiency, she was making almost 2.50 a week above her 1.75 board. (86)
Two dollars and fifty cents was a lot of money back then. This money, workers earn from
factories could help children and people from poor families support their families and to give
them a chance to improve their lives. However, even if wages were better in factories than other
places, workers would have to pay another way, with endangerment to their lives and sometimes
even with tier lives. Many workers would be hurt and die because of these working
environment. Which is the price they will have to pay for higher wages. To add on, as stated in
this essay previously the girls aren t making as much as they should. In Lyddie, workers
complain their wages have went lower a lot. Even if factories offer a lot more money than other
places the workers aren t really earning their true wages not to add on the bad working
environment that harm the workers health. A petition has to be signed to protect workers
rights. From all the above arguments, you can clearly see a change is needed to be made to
improve working environments. The petition will help to give workers better living environment
for a better life and safer worker environments so workers would be safe. It will also

Flint Town Documentary
In the documentary, Flint Town we are exposed to a multitude of visuals that show us the depths
of poverty that the city of Flint has devolved to. Large amounts of abandoned property is shown,
given an in depth perspective of the poverty. We see darks and lights in multiple portions of the
documentary, symbolizing the poverty and prosperity. In Roger and Me we see a contrasting
visual representation with light colors being used in the entire documentary. The sounds of poverty
are shown substantially, with emphasis on crime noises and loudness. The documentary holds
back no punches when it comes to showing us the brutality of desperation. A large amount of
abandoned property is shown in, Flint Town and this helps convey the general mood of this
documentary which, in my opinion, is the showcasing of what a city that has been left to its own
defenses and not given the crucial assistance it desperately needs. According to a report done by
RealtyTrac, a company that keeps track of foreclosed and defaulted properties, that 1 in 14
properties are vacant within the community of Flint. (Vassel) The abandonment is further shown in
the documentary, Roger and Me where we see the beginning of the decline of the neighborhoods of
abandoned homes.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The light and dark being used as a visual metaphor is not entirely evident upon first viewing, the
residents of Flint are illuminated while the background is completely black. When residents are
shown it is often much closer to their face compared to the officers, this may simply be a
coincidence but I feel that this is to draw attention away from the dark, the poverty, and instead
makes us focus on the person and not the situation they find themselves in. Rodger and Me finds its
usage of light showing a completely different

Slavery done so we do not need to remember it! Respond to this statement drawing specific
reference to the nature of slave society and how the enslaved fought against their enslavement.
Every society, in the Caribbean or anywhere else, is a product of the particular historical forces that
shaped it and gave it form. For the Caribbean the most impactful historical force was the
introduction of slavery and slave societies to the Caribbean and the period thereafter, up until its
abolition. Although slavery is done, it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Usually, the slaves in the lowest rung of this social ladder were the ones who rebelled and often
domestic slaves were the ones who betrayed them by reporting the plots to their master.
(www.guyana.org). As a result of the enslaved Africans in the Caribbean, wherever there was
slavery, there was resistance . (V. shepherd).
Until recently the role of the African people who resisted enslavement and fought to end slavery
in various ways during the Transatlantic Slave Trade had been ignored. It is important to
remember that resistance to slavery had a long history. It began in Africa itself when the
Africans fought against enslavement and continued on board the ships, during the middle
passage and also on the plantations. (N.p, 2009) There were different forms of resistances used
by the enslaved Africans in the Caribbean cam be broken down into two main categories; violent
and non violent resistances or more formerly active and passive resistance. There was also
marronage which can fall into the category of non violent resistance whether it was grand, petit
or maritime marronage. According to Hilary Beckles the many slave revolts and plots between
1638 and 1838 could be conceived as the 200 years war . (Beckles 1991). This was the period
where the resistances and revolts used by enslaved Africans was at its peak, enslaved blacks used
the various forms of resistances in order to show their dissatisfaction and to

Trinity Western University Case Summary
Case Analysis: Trinity Western University v. The Law Society of Upper Canada, 2016 ONCA 518.
A case filed between Brayden Volkenant, TWU, MacPherson, Cronk and Pardu JJ.A. as the
Appellants and the Law Society of Upper Canada being the Respondent. There also existed
interveners. The date of the case verdict was on June Sixth and on June Seventh of the year 2016.
Introduction
The Canadian Act 1982 (U.K.), chapter 11, got enforced by The Canadian Charter of Rights and
Freedoms within the Canadian Constitution (1982). The Charter s 22 short sections (2 23) protect
the Canadians rights subject to 6 domains: legal, equality, democratic, mobility, fundamental and
linguistic. Trinity Western University (TWU), a distinguished evangelical and a private
university in British Columbia considered setting up a law school. TWU principles spelled out
clearly that it would not consider applicants from the same sex, as well as individuals subject to
common law relationships bound outside marriages. TWU s Christian pillars advocates for sexual
purity. TWU s appeal violated the 1982 Acts by the Law Society of Upper Canada(LSUC). Six
societies in Labrador, Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, New Foundland, and the
Prince Edward Island granted TWU an accreditation. However, three law societies from Ontario,
Nova Scotia, and British Columbia forfeited TWU s accreditation. Such an approach made a
possible appeal to the LSUC inevitable; the superior court s decision overturned the

Greenfield is a very nice place to grow up and start a family. In 1957 Greenfield Wisconsin
became a city. In 2016, Greenfield is an astonishing place where many families come to live!
Greenfield is a very fun and safe place to live. Greenfield has many city events when the whole
city comes together to create a fun event! Throughout the years Greenfield has grown and became
a fascinating place. Greenfield Wisconsin could ve been named Kinnikinnick but thank goodness
the people of Greenfield, chose Greenfield instead. Did you know? Milwaukee s Summer fest
attracts up to a million visitors per year, which has earned it a Guinness World Records citation as

A couple of reasons of how Greenfield s geography affects people s lives is because of food
choices, temperature, and the way land is used. The food in Greenfield Wisconsin is very unique.
For example, if someone were to go to France and eat there, the food in France would be very
different from the food in Greenfield, Wisconsin. Another reason of how Greenfield s
geography affects people s lives is because of the temperature. In Greenfield Wisconsin, there are
four seasons: summer, fall, winter, and spring. In each season many things throughout the city
change. Example: in summer more plants will grow because of the weather. Also, some grass
will die because of the weather. The third and final reason of how Greenfield s geography affects
people s lives is, by the way, a land is used. In Greenfield, most land is used for buildings such as
schools, gas stations, police fire department, houses, apartments, etc. How does this effect
geography? Well, it affects what people may do in their free time and what their life is like.
(How people work and some things Greenfield has that other city s may not have) Now that we
know some reasons of how Greenfield s geography affects humans, let s move on to Greenfield s

Edward R. Murrow s See It Now
Television has drastically changed over time in terms of its content, reach, and accuracy. In 1954,
journalist Edward R. Murrow and his television series See it Now were dedicated to revealing the
truth to their audience no matter how unpleasant the news. Murrow had been specifically interested
in revealing the truth about Senator Joseph McCarthy, who had carried out investigations against
government workers and those of public institutions who were believed to have ties to
communism. Murrow did not appear to feel obligated by McCarthy to only report positive things
about him, despite the fact he was a public figure with a lot of power who could destroy his
company and reputation. Working for CBS, the news Murrow reported had been extremely... Show

There is a wider variety of channels in terms of quantity and quality. People have the option to seek
news from multiple sources in order to validate it and formulate their opinions on issues. Because of
this, television does not have as much influence today as it had in the 1950s. With the
development of other forms of media such as computers, smartphones, and tablets, people
generally retrieve their news from websites and applications on these devices of which there are
plenty. Therefore, if coverage of a McCarthy type politician were produced today, it would not
be as much of a burden on each journalist because the stakes would not be as high, as there are
other outlets providing similar content. However, many of today s news channels have deviated
away from the principles of journalism, which emphasize reporting the truth and not repressing
any information. In the media and television today, there is a large emphasis on advertising and
image. Many companies select news to report based on what would help to improve their
reputation and generate more profit by catering to advertisers. If the McCarthy controversy were
to happen today, news channels would report on it, but in a way that would not jeopardize
themselves. It is also likely that they would skew the news to cater to the views of their audience
and advertisers. Thus, reporters would also most likely not make statements as bold as Murrow as
they would fear McCarthy potentially destroying their

The way that they painted these images were just so intricate and with so much detail, it had me in awe. The fact that some of these animals seemed to be drawn in motion gives me the inclination that it was something more meaningful than drawing for the sake of making art, a lot of time and effort must have been spent on this for it not to have some sort of humanmeaning. In the reading, it says that the one drawing that was thought to be of sick or injured bison were actually depicting the mating dance and rituals of these majestic creatures. • 4. Lincoln Memorial Essay Washington, DC is a spectacular place. This being my first time in DC, I was in awe of everything and all the historical places I encountered. The presence of the monuments and history is what made the capitol so magnificent. Having only read about the Lincoln memorial, I never had the chance to experience the sensation of being inside such an honorable place of importance. The imposing white marble walls of the memorial and the many people surrounding it could be seen from afar. Arriving at the location, an unknown feeling came over me. I was experiencing history in a whole different level. When I think about a memorial, the term remembrance comes to mind. There were many people of all ages, ethnicity, and class. All the people gathered at the memorial created a sense of unity although we were all there for different purposes. Many of these people were in high spirits and were enjoying themselves. While researching and reading about the history of the memorial, I found interesting things that stood out. An example of this was the story behind the structural design. The architecture of the chamber inside the memorial means something itself. Different stones from different states were used in the creation of the chamber. According to the DC Pages , The terrace walls and lower steps consisted of granite blocks from Massachusetts, the upper steps, outside front wall, and columns contained marble blocks from Colorado the interior walls and columns were Indiana limestone, the floor was pink marble from Tennessee the ceiling tiles were made up of Alabama marble, and the Lincoln statue encompassed 28 pieces of marble from Georgia . The structure of the memorial was built on different marble stones to signify what Abraham Lincoln stood for. Henry Bacon who was behind the design of the memorial chose these stones to tell a story. The stones symbolized that although a country was torn apart by war and hatred, it can still come together to build something as significant as the memorial. • 5. A Lexical Pragmatic Analysis of Proverbs in Femi... This essay is a pragmatic reading of moral and socio political decadence in Femi Osofisan s Midnight Hotel. It does this by analyzing ten out of twenty five proverbs deployed in the text. In analyzing the proverbs, this essay observes that each has at least an ad hoc constituent which requires semantic modulation to get at the meanings of the proverbs. This modulation is not arbitrary, but contextually negotiated until the reader reaches his optimal relevance. Wilson and Carston argue that metaphors are cases of ad hoc constructions (7), for instance, when a speaker says, The boy is a lion . While a literary scholar would see this as metaphorical, Wilson and Carston believe that the above sentence is a case of the use of an ad hoc ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of such is with Ossie Onuorah Enekwe where he says that: To get desperately close to the spectator, to each and every one I have trapped in the darkness or half light, to penetrate very close and intimate, like a knife in the ribs. I want to make that spectator happy but uncomfortable. I want to turn him open, guts and all, spice him, cook him in the filthy, stinking broil of our history. I want him washed inside out, in the naked truth, and then I sew him back again a different man. (18) The playwright s closeness to a reader of Midnight Hotel is predicated on the contemporary subject matters raised in the text. It is true the essence of the play is to effect a social change (as it is with most literary works), but this change cannot occur if the reader finds it difficult to comprehend what the text says. Thus this essay lends a hand in that direction, by working out an easy, systematic, pragmatic format for understanding Osofisan s Midnight Hotel. Commenting on the playwright s art, Awodiya submits that Osofisan is prolific and theatrically fertile in creating flexible dramatic forms that have great stage adaptability (15). Awodiya further notes Osofisan s penchant for invoking traditional African elements of music, dance, songs, mime and improvisation (15). One of such is proverbs with which he attaches the African sense. Awodiya acknowledges that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Pros And Cons Of The Snail Darter Did you know that many big rivers and lakes have dams to control the water flow? I grew up in a place that did not have many big bodies of water which made it hard to really appreciate what dams do to help the environment. However, the Tellico Dam is a controversial issue. The Tellico Dam was a planned to be built by the Tennessee Valley Authority, but got delayed once they discovered a endangered species. Where the government was allowing the Tennesseans to build the dam, in Lenoir City, Tennessee, there was a small population of a rare species of fish, the Snail Darter. The Snail Darter is a very small species of fish found in Eastern Tennessee freshwater. A little bit larger than the average paperclip, this animal is part of the perch family and primarily feeds on aquatic snails. The females can lay about 600 eggs a year. Found in shallow water, the darters, in captivity, only live up to about four years and even less in the wild. Completing the dam would likely wipe out the Snail Darters in that area, and the Darter could become an extinct species. I believe that we should keep the Endangered Species Act strong to protect animal and plant species such as the Darter. • 11. Romantic Love In The Hunger Games, By Suzanne Collins North American media is known in many forms to include a romantic subplot between the main protagonist and a major side character, underneath the main morals and plot the story conveys. These romances in media, particularly films and novels, are uncreative and dissatisfying. They distract from major events within the narrative and divert the reader s attention away from the author s message and morals they are trying to impart. Also, the undermining of female characters is a major issue faced in the writing of these romances into stories. Many narratives, though, may originally have good intentions with the insertion of a relationship, but society s glamorisation of romantic loveholds them on a pedestal until they ve turned stale, so in turn... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The romance in a fiction becomes the main question in social outlets and frequent questions like Team Peeta or Team Gale from The Hunger Games fans arise. As a society we hypersexualise and romanticise our media, so a story like The Hunger Games theme is ironically missed. This trilogy, written by Suzanne Collins, revolves around Katniss and her society s yearly ritual to force children to kill each other in a so called entertaining way, with media coverage. Katniss too, falls in love with a boy, and they manage to survive a reaping together. The characters are glamorised by the media within the book, ignoring the deaths of children, as Suzanne Collins tries to hint to real society what the media does. Immediately, the story took off and the love triangle popularised within the book became real, and media outlets ask fans the same question, ignoring the ideologies the author provided. The relationship within this narrative stood for an important point within the plot of the story, negating previous arguments and not in itself disappointing, yet media distorts it, turning it into a dissatisfying love triangle. The major fault in media s coverage of these relationships is it falls in line with both aforementioned faults of romance in novels, how it clouds the author s morals and intentions of writing, and with this engrossment in a single point, the media doesn t only demean the female characters, but any character, as the only involvement of characters in discussion is who they are in a relationship ... Skopos theory is the most important part of the German Functionalist School. It was first advanced by Hans J.Vermeer and improved by Justa Holzв€’Manttari and Christiane Nord later. The word skopos comes from Greek, meaning purpose, motive and function . The point of this theory is the principle of purpose, defined by those German Functionalist translators as every activities of translation is decided by the purpose of translation, which in one word means method depends on purpose (Reiss and Vermeer 1984: 101; Nord 2001: 29). Generally speaking, the skopos theory believes that the result decides the method. So this theory solves the contradiction between some of the traditional western translation theory, such as equivalent value , equivalent effect and functional equivalence . It discards the traditional western translation standard, believing that the quality of a translation is not judged by its equivalent value or equivalent effect with the original version but the adequacy with the purpose of translation. • 17. Death And The King s Horseman Analysis Sarah Goodson Dr. Babcock ENG 239 28 September 2017 Prompt 1 In Wole Soyinka s play, Death and the King s Horseman, the English presence in Nigeria is well established. As each scene goes by the audience can feel European colonialism lurking heavily in the background. With this English influence on the Yoruba people the community is swept with unsteadiness and conflict. The dominant events in Soyinka s play symbolize a larger conflict; although the English believe they are shedding light and bringing progress to the Nigerians, the Nigerians don t welcome these foreigners and only wish to continue their cultural ways in peace. Soyinka argues that although the English believe what they are doing is necessary, they are the ones who are intruding on someone else s culture and they should respect that, no matter how uncivilized or odd it may seem. Not accepting and misunderstanding one another s culture is a leading conflict in this play. The Yoruba community has very different beliefs on death compared to the English. When speaking of death, Elesin states: When the hour comes watch me dance along the narrowing path gazed by the soles of my great precursors. My soul is eager (Soyinka, 10). In contrast, Jane believes that this view is nonsense. Life should never be thrown away deliberately (Soyinka, 42) The Yoruba community celebrates death and welcomes the afterlife. While the English fear death. This misunderstanding and lack of acceptance of cultural differences leads Pilkings to act on what he thinks is best, when it is not what is best for the community. Throughout the novel the Yoruba culture continually is disrespected by the colonists who invade their community. In the play Pilkings and his wife Jane are dressed in egungun costumes which they confiscated from cult leaders. Amusa pleads with Pilkings and Jane to take them off. They respond saying You don t believe this nonsense do you? I thought you were a good Muslim. ( Soyinka, 19) Jane and Pilkings are surprised that Amusa can still respect the Yoruba culture while believing in something different. His experimenting took his whole freshman year until he found the correct combination of ingredients (he has not disclosed the list of ingredients yet). His first test was on rats, where Mr. Both found that the rats did not grow in size and also died at a later age than normal rats without the serum. Silas then took a chance and tried it at himself. He noticed in the next year that he did not grow like you would as you age. During his last 2 years at high school many people noticed that he didn t grow at all and asked for his secrets. Silas had not tested his product on any other humans besides him so he was hesitant at first, he took many precautions before he let other people try the serum. When other people took it he noticed they had slight side effects such as stomach pain and headaches for the following week but nothing after. The Line Of Iphones The history of the line of iphones begins with a direction from steve jobs to Apple Inc s engineers, where he asked them to investigate touchscreens and tablet computer, which later came to the invention of the Ipad. Hughes de Payens was the co founder and Grand Master of the Knights Templar. Like the early history of the Templars, little is known about Payens since sources about his life are certainly lacking. However, as the Enlightenment period dawned on the great thinkers, the Templars were seen more as victims of heresy as there was a strong Gnosticizing trend in eighteenth century thought. This was also evident in the mystical illumination roots of the Enlightenment area in the hermetic traditions of Renaissance Neo Platonism and Cabbalism. Indeed, many of these thinkers, including Albert Pike and Purgstall claimed that the Templars were secretly Johannite Gnostics who also venerated Zoroaster and Manes. They were essentially a secret society totally opposed to the Church but outwardly were completely loyal to the Church and the Pope. Partner writes, Their spiritual independence of the Church was not based on any low or vulgar magical powers of conjuring, but on the possession of a veritable house of knowledge, a Temple of wisdom which was symbolized by the name of their Order (xviii). Then there is the view that the Templars were not at war with Islam but were in fact in league with the Ismaili sect of the Assassins, who were secret philosopher mystagogues who initiated the Templars in the precepts of their House of Wisdom. Purgstall would wonder the same thing, when he wrote: What wonder that those knights confederated with the Assassins and imbued with their nefarious doctrine and, passing time in Syria, affected by the error of the Syrian sects, waging war in the Orient, indulged the same defect conjointly for themselves in all the Oriental ... The routing is initially established with some proactively prospected routes and then serves the demand from additionally activated nodes through reactive flooding. The choice of one or the other method requires predetermination for typical cases. The main disadvantages of such algorithms are: 1.Advantage depends on number of other nodes activated. 2.Reaction to traffic demand depends on gradient of traffic volume. Examples of hybrid algorithms are: ZRP (Zone Routing Protocol) ZRP uses IARP as pro active and IERP as reactive component. However, once established a route is maintained as long as it is needed. Reactive (or on demand) routing protocols find a path between the source and the destination only when the path is needed (i.e., if there are data to be exchanged between the source and the destination). An advantage of this approach is that the routing overhead is greatly reduced. A disadvantage is a possible large delay from the moment the route is needed (a packet is ready to be sent) until the time the route is actually acquired. In AODV, the network is silent until a connection is needed. At that point the network node that needs a connection broadcasts a request for connection. Other AODV nodes forward this message, and record the node that they heard it from, creating an explosion of temporary routes back to the needy node. When a node receives such a message and already has a route to the desired node, it sends a message backwards through a temporary route to the requesting node. The needy node then begins using the route that has the least number of hops through other nodes. Unused entries in the routing tables are recycled after a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, many discarded them and did not pay attention to them. Jonathan Swift, author of A Modest Proposal, takes lead for these unnoticed pamphlets and builds a proposal he thinks would help Irelandeconomy. A Modest Proposalis an ironic example that presents the attitude of rich towards poor and their starving kids. Jonathan uses various elements like metaphors, repetitions, irony and parallelism to focus on destructive defiance of the writing. Jonathan swiftstarts by blaming the mothers of these children that they should start working and get some earning to support these kids. He also foretells the future of these children that they will turn into thieves or sell themselves to foreign countries for money. According to Swift, it is just because the parents did not train their children the unassertive way of life and could not give them a proper lifestyle. In A Modest Proposal Jonathan Swift does not blame the shortcomings of Ireland on the people. He says that the people, politicians, and English were all to be at fault for the terrible state and poverty of Ireland. there are three factors that make Swift s argument not serious: the tone of the author, his insincerity, and ridiculousness of the proposal. Swift states that because these women kept having children and could not provide food to them, the economy of Ireland and standard of living couldn t improve. So, he makes a proposal to the public that he thinks would be beneficial for them. His way of thinking and argument is incorrect in what he is proposing as He marks that young healthy children are delicious food to be roasted, stewed and boiled to be served and eaten by rich British people. Similarly, he estimates that twenty thousand kids should be held in reserve for breeding purposes. This brutalizes how children should be treated like animals. Sea turtles are not only extremely important to marine environments, but also to environments on shore. If sea turtles were to go extinct, the oceans would become dead. Sea grass is one of the most important things that are included in a sea turtles diet. When sea turtles eat sea grass, it actually helps it grow, which small fish, shellfish and other small marine life live in. If sea turtles go extinct, this would eventually die and with it, all marine life. The shore would suffer because sea turtles nest on the beach and their eggshells provide nutrients to the beach, which helps beach vegetation grow and keep the sand from eroding. • 38. Lyddie By Katherine Paterson Summary Should workers sign a petition? The book, Lyddie, written by Katherine Paterson, is about a girl named Lyddie who lived in the 1700 s, working in the factories. In the factories, the workers were forced to endure the poor environment and a lack of safety working with the machines. Also the workers were under paid, had long working hours, and the atrocious, dissatisfactory, and lousy living conditions that were unacceptable. However, signing a petition could help improve work areas and protect workers rights. The book shows all the hardships and the effects of poor working environment on Lyddie and the other workers. This money, workers earn from factories could help children and people from poor families support their families and to give them a chance to improve their lives. However, even if wages were better in factories than other places, workers would have to pay another way, with endangerment to their lives and sometimes even with tier lives. Many workers would be hurt and die because of these working environment. Which is the price they will have to pay for higher wages. To add on, as stated in this essay previously the girls aren t making as much as they should. In Lyddie, workers complain their wages have went lower a lot. Even if factories offer a lot more money than other places the workers aren t really earning their true wages not to add on the bad working environment that harm the workers health. Large amounts of abandoned property is shown, given an in depth perspective of the poverty. We see darks and lights in multiple portions of the documentary, symbolizing the poverty and prosperity. In Roger and Me we see a contrasting visual representation with light colors being used in the entire documentary. The sounds of poverty are shown substantially, with emphasis on crime noises and loudness. The documentary holds back no punches when it comes to showing us the brutality of desperation. A large amount of abandoned property is shown in, Flint Town and this helps convey the general mood of this documentary which, in my opinion, is the showcasing of what a city that has been left to its own defenses and not given the crucial assistance it desperately needs. According to a report done by RealtyTrac, a company that keeps track of foreclosed and defaulted properties, that 1 in 14 properties are vacant within the community of Flint. Until recently the role of the African people who resisted enslavement and fought to end slavery in various ways during the Transatlantic Slave Trade had been ignored. It is important to remember that resistance to slavery had a long history. It began in Africa itself when the Africans fought against enslavement and continued on board the ships, during the middle passage and also on the plantations. TWU principles spelled out clearly that it would not consider applicants from the same sex, as well as individuals subject to common law relationships bound outside marriages. TWU s Christian pillars advocates for sexual purity. TWU s appeal violated the 1982 Acts by the Law Society of Upper Canada(LSUC). Six societies in Labrador, Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, New Brunswick, New Foundland, and the Prince Edward Island granted TWU an accreditation. However, three law societies from Ontario, Nova Scotia, and British Columbia forfeited TWU s accreditation. Murrow and his television series See it Now were dedicated to revealing the truth to their audience no matter how unpleasant the news. Murrow had been specifically interested in revealing the truth about Senator Joseph McCarthy, who had carried out investigations against government workers and those of public institutions who were believed to have ties to communism. People have the option to seek news from multiple sources in order to validate it and formulate their opinions on issues. Because of this, television does not have as much influence today as it had in the 1950s. With the development of other forms of media such as computers, smartphones, and tablets, people generally retrieve their news from websites and applications on these devices of which there are plenty. Therefore, if coverage of a McCarthy type politician were produced today, it would not be as much of a burden on each journalist because the stakes would not be as high, as there are other outlets providing similar content. However, many of today s news channels have deviated away from the principles of journalism, which emphasize reporting the truth and not repressing any information. In the media and television today, there is a large emphasis on advertising and image. Many companies select news to report based on what would help to improve their reputation and generate more profit by catering to advertisers. If the McCarthy controversy were to happen today, news channels would report on it, but in a way that would not jeopardize themselves. It is also likely that they would skew the news to cater to the views of their audience and advertisers. Thus, reporters would also most likely not make statements as bold as Murrow as they would fear McCarthy potentially destroying their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
