A Report On The York City Council Passed Council Bill 118437
On August 10, 2025, the Seattle City Council passed Council Bill 118437, which creates an
ordinance allowing the City to impose a tax on businesses that sale firearms and ammunition. The
ordinance added Chapter 5.50 to the Seattle Municipal Code, which states in part:
5.50.030 Tax imposed; rates
A. There is imposed a tax on every person engaging within the City in the business of making retail
sales of firearms or ammunition. The amount of the tax due shall be equal to the quantity of
firearms sold at retail and the quantity of ammunition sold at retail multiplied by the applicable tax
rates that are stated in Section 5.50.030.B.
B. The tax rate shall be $25 per firearm sold at retail, $.02 per round of ammunition that contains a
single projectile that measures .22 caliber or less sold at retail, and $.05 per round of ammunition
for all other ammunition sold at retail.
The ordinance shall take effect on January 1, 2016, and the Firearm and Ammunition Tax shall be
imposed beginning January 1, 2016, on every person engaging within the City in the business of
making retail sales of firearms and ammunition.

In the first chapter of the book Narrative of the life of Frederick Douglass, Frederick douglass
gives us first hand stories about him being a young slave. Frederick was not allowed to go to his
mother s burial and he did not know his own birthday as well both of which I find very crazy
because everyone knows their birthday but for slaves that was a common occurrence, and to not
be able to see your own mother s burial sounds awful. Douglass also witnessed the whipping of his
aunt at a young age and he wrote about it in extreme detail, for any young child this must be
scaring. The whipping was a punishmentfor Douglass s aunt because she went to see another slave
from a different plantation, in my opinion this is a incredibly harsh punishment for trying to
visit another slave. Douglass Says It was a most terrible spectacle. I wish I could commit to
paper the feelings with which I beheld it (Douglass 4). Douglass says this when he is talking
about his aunt getting whipped, he is saying that it was so bad to watch he could not even put his
feeling into words. All of these events emphasize how bad it really was to be a slave and stripped
of rights and to be treated like property.

My Experience On A Boat Ride To Catalina Island
One of my greatest field trips ever was on a boat ride to Catalina Island. It consisted of a three
day overnight trip to the beautiful Island. My Dad and I woke up at 4:35 in the morning just to
get to school on time to load up the bus. On the way to school, my dad and I stopped at three
different stores to make sure we had enough food, and supplies for the boat ride. I was tired, but
super excited! Once we arrived at school, we immediately started packing up the bus. Everyone
looked like they just got drug out of the bed by their parents, just to come to another regular,
boring day of school. I think I was the only one who was really excited; except for my Dad of
course. Once the bus was completely packed with all our supplies, we all used the restroom,
then hopped on the bus. As we drove down the freeway, my classmates and I played fun games
like: I Spy and truth or dare. When we arrived in Long Beach, my friends and I decided to skip
rocks by throwing the rocks into the water. Unfortunately, we got reprimanded by the person
who worked there. That embarrassment did not last long because of the exciting adventure
ahead. I was surprised to see how wrong I was about the type of boat that we would be taking.
All along, I thought we were going to be taking an old wooden boat like those in the old movies.

cognitive heuristics, all played a role in the interaction of the group and the final decision to equate

Henry Fonda, plays the role of juror number eight, who from the beginning keeps his conviction that
the defendant is not guilty due to reasonable doubt. Fonda uses arguments and reasoning to

Introduction The theoretical perspective I found most convincing when analyzing the behavior
of the main character, Mathew Poncelot, in the film, Dead Man Walking, are the ideologies of
sociologist Max Weber. He believed that rather than only focusing on one s social actions, it is
instead important to understand why people do the things that they do (Long Crowell).
Empathizing with individuals and identifying their perspectives explains one s rationales behind
each choice and behavior (Long Crowell). By gaining an understanding of an individual s point

world (DuBose, 2015). Weber s theory supports that Poncelot s behaviors can be explained by
evaluating the rationale behind the factors that influenced and affected the choices he made. His
childhood experiences, family values, education level, social class, and economic status were

of Poncelot s thoughts and actions were based on the experiences and social interactions he
encountered. Throughout this analysis, I will reflect on the various theoretical perspectives

The terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centers that took place on 11 September 2001 will never
be forgotten among American citizens. The complete destruction of the Twin Towers and the
massive death toll of the attacks left the United States in a widespread panic. On 14 September
2001, President George W. Bushstepped up and delivered a speech later titled the Remarks at the
National Day of Prayer and Remembrance Service. President Bush proved that he was the leader
that the United Statesneeded at this extremely difficult time. Bush delivered this speech to his
fellow Americans in an attempt to calm the panicking nation. President George W. Bush
achieved his purpose through the speech s structure, his word choice, and his use of the
rhetorical devices of anaphora and repetition. The structure of President Bush s speech was a
crucial aspect in getting his points across to his fellow Americans. At the beginning of the speech,
Bush addresses the events that occurred three days earlier. He does not ignore the great losses of
the country or what the country is feeling. Instead, Bush acknowledges the types of casualties and
offers sympathy to the Americans that are suffering in the second paragraph. Bush focuses on the
negatives of September 11 and gets those sorrowful topics out of the way early when he says, War

Paolaemonetes Vulgaris Case Study
Fort DeSoto Park is a protected marine environment that is next to Eckerd College, an unprotected
marine environment in Boca Ciega Bay. Palaemonetes vulgaris (common name grass shrimp) is an
invertebrate that is native to both areas. The comparison that is to be made is the average total
length of Palaemonetes vulgaris between these two environments. The alternate hypothesis is
because of human interaction occurring in the waters of unprotected areas, the Palaemonetes
vulgaris will have a shorter average total length there. The null hypothesis is there is no difference
in the size of Palaemonetes vulgaris growing in the protected vs. unprotected areas, because

The protected areas of Fort DeSoto will have larger specimens than the unprotected areas of
Eckerd College, because of the protection rights that Fort DeSoto has in place. Where Eckerd
College is not a protected environment the Palaemonetes vulgaris are open to over fishing areas.
The results could have different outcomes based on a change in locations where the
Palaemonetes vulgaris were sampled. Based on the results, the null hypothesis is rejected because
the Palaemonetes vulgaris in Fort DeSoto are of greater average total length (mm) than in Boca
Ciega Bay at Eckerd College. Based on the results, the alternate hypothesis is accepted, because of
human interactions at Eckerd College, the Palaemonetes vulgaris have shorter average total length
(mm) than Fort DeSoto. By using Fort DeSoto s data from 2012 (5 years ago from today, 2017)
the results may have changed dramatically in the size and quantity of the Palaemonetes vulgaris.
Knowing the correct formulas and not miss keying the information being entered in to the Excel
spreadsheet will affect the out coming results in the table. Knowing that the data from Fort DeSoto
is from 5 years ago, I would want to update that information first by recollecting the data. The
direction that future research could take would be to analysis the three different kinds of shrimp
