Dbq 13 Colonials
Spain, England, and France led the colonization of the Americas having distinct missions, and using
different approach. By the mid 1960 s, all these great nations were in a race to establish American
colonies. Like in every expedition, the primary purposes were to gain wealth and riches, which was
the main reasoning behind all of the colonization s. On their way to building these settlements, the
colonials encountered the Native Americans and had to deal with them in very different ways. The
first of these nations to arrive in the new world was Spain, led by Christopher Columbus. In 1492,
Christopher Columbus led the first voyage to the west in search for and alternate route to India, and
China. The voyage failed in finding an alternate

Examples Of Kindness In Black Beauty
The book Black Beauty by Anna Sewell tells the story of a horse named Black Beauty by a few of his
owners. He grows up with good owners: a farmer, then the Birtwicks, but then gets changed into the
hands of owners who are more cruel, who get worse as time goes on. He then finds a good owner in
Jerry Barker, who treats him well yet must work him hard as a cab horse. Eventually, Jerry has to sell
him, where he finds the worst of his owners, until being bought and recovered, then finally sold to
people who knew him as Black Beauty, and determined to never sell him. The theme of kindness runs
through the entire book. Kindness is when someone thinks about the feelings of everyone else (not
discriminating between looks, actions, or social status), and makes a conscious, continuous, and
wholehearted effort to treat them well. Kindness is when people treat everyone with respect. In Black
Beauty, the creatures who are shown as good ones are kind to cruel and kind people alike. On page 8,
Black Beauty s mother told him not to say that it served a man right to die when he was hunting and
injured his horse (her other son), showing that she was kind to everyone, even those who were mean
to someone close to her. Some people would think it was okay, as long as they didn t insult them to
their face, but Black Beauty s mother shows how kind she is by not doing that. Since she also doesn t
reprimand the other colts for saying those things, she is kind to them as well, even though they are

American Hero Definition
Over time an American hero comes in all different ways. As a society, there are all kinds of people that
have different backgrounds, participate or do things, and we look at them as an American hero. It can
be someone who does something courageous but doesn t allow fear to stop them from anything even if
they are putting themselves in danger. More than ever before, each of us individually have our own
way of genuinely recognizing who is a hero for us, and what we really think makes a hero, a hero. In
this case, an American hero for me happens to be an American team. The U.S Women s soccer team to
be exact, these women are what is a true definition of an American hero. They stand to be an
American hero because they are representing our country

Documentum Case Study
1. Background.
Documentum was founded by Howard Shao and John Newton in 1990. These two database engineers
after hearing about the problems their customers at Ingress were faced when they tried to put several
documents from different departments together, decided to create software that would allow the
management of unstructured information as documents and hence they created what they called
Enterprise document management . Currently that term has evolved to what is now called Enterprise
content management . According to IT Experts: ECM systems primarily focus on the capture, storage,
retrieval, and dissemination of digital files for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore Companies also faced the risk that the startup would run out of money and also lack
proven execution experience. Also the technology that Documentum uses while revolutionary has
been only tested with two companies Boeing and Syntex it will be very difficult to explain to potential
clients what exactly the software can bring to them in terms of value and what exactly are the
ramifications of using the software in their companies.
Opportunities
Because Documentum s technology is something new and its concept is revolutionary selecting a
target market presents a challenge. There are many companies that could benefit from this type of
software especially in the areas where the software has already been tested: aircraft maintenance and
pharmaceutical NDA. According to the case, management has retained 5 scenarios (Exhibit 6) that
followed a process developed by Geoffrey Moore. The real problem lies on how does Documentum
goes about selling the product do they go about it vertically or horizontally?
Threats
The major threats that we can discern is the fact that the technology is revolutionary in itself and that
those types of technological advances are most of the time adopted by early visionaries. Furthermore
explaining the technology to potential clients can become a challenge because the clients themselves
don t know what they are looking for and might also not be willing to consider the expenditures
involved in such a project.

This random sampling error indicated that there was no cross section of the target group (generation
Y) and in turn was a sample selection error. There were 3 respondents whose results were not
analyzed, as they did not fall into the target group of generation Y and this was an administrative error.
This is another common research problem is survey non response. Marketers can unintentionally
design surveys which many customers choose not to respond to.
Survey bias is the next potential survey research problem that can be likely to occur. In survey
sampling, bias refers to the tendency of a sample statistic to systematically over or under estimate a
population parameter. At the time of the survey, we are to assume that the chosen sample is the
representation of the Gen Y population and that information provided by the respondents is both
accurate and honest. It appears that there was a response bias due to the unconscious
misrepresentation and misplacement of the Pepsi logo at the top of the survey. This was inadvertent
but may have led to a response bias where the respondents appeared to have been influenced by an
auspices bias a bias in the responses of subjects caused by their being influenced by the organization
conducting the study (Zikmond et all, 2011).

Scaphoid Report Sample
Summery
Background
Clinical evaluation of suspected scaphoid injury is based on history, inspection and physical
examination. Improving the accuracy of the non radiological part of the evaluation will limit
unnecessary immobilization and expensive imaging modalities when standard radiographs appear
normal.
Objectives
To provide an overview of available clinical evaluation tests for scaphoid fractures and to compare
their diagnostic accuracies.
Methods
We performed a systematic review of all studies assessing diagnostic characteristics of clinical
evaluation in scaphoid fractures by searching MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane, and CINAHL
databases. Only studies on clinical testing prior to radiographic evaluation and with acceptable
reference standard for occult fractures were included. Thirteen relevant articles were analysed that
described a total of 25 tests. Diagnostic characteristics of the tests were used to construct contingency
tables. If possible, data were pooled and summary receiver operating characteristic curves (SROC)
were fitted.
Results
The search provided 2072 titles of which 13 were relevant and eligible for data extraction. A total of
23 tests were described, 10 of them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Specificity of ASB ranged from 0.03 to 0.98; for LTC, 0.22 to 0.97. Owing to considerable
heterogeneity, pooled estimate points were not calculated. Other high sensitivity tests were scaphoid
tubercle tenderness, with sensitivity and specificity ranging from 0.82 to 1.00 and 0.17 to 0.57,
respectively, and painful ulnar deviation, ranging from 0.67 to 1.00 and 0.17 to 0.60, respectively.
Three studies showed that combining tests increased the specificity and post test fracture probability
while maintaining high sensitivity. Quality assessment mainly showed high or unclear risk of bias and
applicability concerns in reference standard and patient selection. Twelve study designs were

How Did Churchill s Iron Curtain Influence The Governance...
In a post WW2 era the world was carved up between two spheres of influence, between two super
powers with totally contrasting ideologies and two completely different views concerning the
governance of a state. In the USSR s areas of influence, state ownership and strict control was
commanded by Communists. In contrast, the US was striving for a political reorganisation and
liberalisation of the world in combination with a movement towards a free market economy.
The two opposing nations were hostile towards one another due to ideological distrust of communism
and a threat of expansion in the Western capitalist states. Stalin, who suffered from paranoia was
repeatedly skeptical towards his former allies, especially the most mighty one of them, ... Show more

This was in turn seen as signs of aggression and an upcoming expansion in the west and lead to the
aggravation of the conflict.
The next wave of frictions was caused by Churchill s Iron Curtain speech, which led to the escalation
of the struggle between East and West. In his speech, Churchill divided the world into East and West
after the descent of an Iron curtain . The speech reminded not only the powers which were involved in
the conflict, but the whole world about the ferocity and the continuous struggle between Communism
and Democracy. Moreover it send warning signals to Stalin who realised that the former allies, Great
Britain and the US were on good terms with each other and that both openly opposed Stalin s regime.
When the West suspected that the USSR extended its influence in Greece, which was scattered by
civill war and demanded naval bases in Turkey in 1946 47 Truman declared that containment was
about to start in the whole world. This later became known as the Truman Doctrine which meant the
end of any cooperation between the victorious powers from WW2. This marked the beginning of a
cold war, a conflict which never escalated to armed battles between the two superpowers, but led to

The Monster In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
In the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, the creature is introduced to four readings that influenced
his outlook on human life. The four books being Paradise Lost By John Milton,Plutarch s Lives of the
Noble Greeks and Romans By Plutarch,The Sorrows of Young Werther By Johann Wolfgang von
Goethe and Ruins of Empires by Constantin François de Volney . Knowing that these four works
influenced the creature to be who he became, I would change them in hopes of him becoming good. In

challenges they face. When the Creature finds the book, it fills his head with wild ideas. Such as, As I

explaining how he became the monster that he is portrayed as. Throughout Frankenstein, the monster
is sad because he cannot read, write, or communicate with others, so when he finds the book
collection he cannot wait to read every single one. When the monster kills Henry Clerval, he makes it
seem like Henry tried to attempt suicide by drowning him. This is taken right out of Sorrows of Young
Werther because of the boyfriend drowning himself. Another writing that was influential to Shelley s
Frankenstein was Paradise Lost by John Milton. This is said to be the most influential piece of
literature that the Creature was based on.Paradise Lost is an epic poem about a version of the creation

Moral Decision Making In The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe Essay
We all make choices; sometimes those choices have negative consequences.
By Ehi Oyugbo
Humans are capable of making their own decisions which can often have positive or negative
consequences on both themselves and others. Every day we face decisions about what to eat, what to
wear and how to use our time.
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis tells a story of forgiveness, bravery, self sacrifice
and betrayal while introducing Christian values and lessons on moral conduct. Although Lewis claims
that links to the Christian faith are purely coincidental, the story contains elements of Christian
allegory and many parallels between the scriptures and the life of the Pevensie children. This essay
will analyse both Aslan and Edmund Pevensie s choices throughout the movie and their influencing
factors in order to gain insight into moral decision making.
Set in the1940 s during World War II, The Lion, the Witch and the follows the four English siblings:
Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie who are evacuated to the country house of an old Professor
for their safety during the London air raids. There, they find an old cupboard which has the ability to
transport them between the real world and Narnia.
Edmund is the 3rd oldest of the Pevensie children, at the age of 10. Due to his experiences at school
he became a bully, being the conceited, spiteful traitor of the family. One of the many parallels present

through the shared pain of cancer, they learn to get along and bond with one another. I ll also be

How Does Presbyopia Occur In Middle Adulthood
For the purpose of remaining consistent throughout this report, we are going to assume that middle
adulthood begins at 45 years of age. While the majority of adults in this age bracket maintain healthy
and satisfying lives, the realities of physical deterioration are inevitable, and can only be postponed for
so long. There is a plethora of physical changes that occur during this period; these include a decline
in sexual performance, lowered bone density, lowered endurance, and menopause. However, the trait I
would like to focus on is age related farsightedness, also called presbyopia. Presbyopia can make
reading small print, and using smaller electronic devices, troublesome. Unfortunately, this physical
change is inevitable, even for individuals

Animal Rights Violations
One major issue that is encountered around the United States and the world is the bitter issue of
animal rights violations. Some violations include ignoring the right of hunger and thirst, freedom from
pain and discomfort and freedom to express normal behavior. In addition, people and organizations
need to recognize and prevent abuse and neglect of animals. Zoo s force animals to live in artificial
life. This focusing more on the main aspect of Animal Abuse in captivity concerning the conservation,
attitude and post zoo on top of animal breeding in confinement.
Animals that are put in containment such as zoos and safaris live in restraints in an environment
designed for them. Now some may say this is a good thing, but some animals might not be able to
cope with these kinds of environments and it could lead to poor animal welfare and suffering. Animals
that are put in zoos are taken out of their natural habitat and inquired in a small confined environment.
During this procedure animal catchers killed any other animal that got in their way, including the
mothers to take their young. Zoos search for babies because they know that they are appealing to the
public. The animals that had been taken most die on the long journey back to the zoo.

The Assassination Of The War And Formation Of Civil Rights
Political Assassination
Danielle Ferreira
U.S Government
Date
Introduction Political assassination is defined as the act of killing a political figure mainly for political
reasons. In most cases, the motive behind political assassinations is beyond the person who is killed.
Assassinations have been rampant across the globe for ages and these assassinations do cause lots of
political instabilities in a country especially when key personalities such as heads of states are the
victims. In this essay, we shall discuss some of the major assassinations which occurred in history.
These personalities include John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Abraham Lincoln, Julius
Caesar and Robert F. Kennedy.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many conspiracy theories have tried to explain who was responsible for Kennedy s murder and some
have cited the involvement of the USSR, FBI, CIA and Cuba among others. The death of Kennedy
remains a mystery despite numerous investigations which have since been carried. There have been no
conclusive prove that Oswald murdered the president and even if he did, people still do not believe
that he acted alone as reported by the Warren Commission.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Martin Luther was a civil rights activist, a clergy and one of the key
personalities behind the formation of the American Civil Rights Movement. The major goal of the
movement was to advocate for the abolishment the racial discrimination of the African Americans
population. King was shot on 4th April 1968 while he was his motel room at Memphis, Tennessee and
was pronounced dead that evening while in hospital2. After the killing, James Earl Ray, who was
convicted for murdering King, escaped but was arrested after two months in London. Many people
believe that the government was involved in the assassination. Following the death of King, lots of
riots and protests emerged in different cities across US.
Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln was assassinated on 14th April 1865 and was serving as 16th President of the
United States from 1861. Lincoln was killed by John Wilkes Booth, a Confederate spy, who was not

The death of Hatshepsut s death lasted long after her. Scholars continued to explore the facts about her
death including her kingship and all the minute details which were introspective, persistent,

The Pearl And Cannery Row Analysis
Destiny; that is where our story begins. In the novels, Of Mice and Men, The Pearl, and Cannery Row
we see different destinies and dreams, but they all have the same goal, to reach them. It is the duty of
every man, as far as his ability extends, to detect and expose delusion and error. Nature has not given
to everyone a talent for the purpose; among those to whom such a talent is given, there is often a want
of disposition or of courage to do it. The saying you control your own destiny applies to the everyday
life of us all. The way you act will determine who you are as a person and what you chose to bring out
of life. How you handle the lessons that life thrusts upon you will be completely up to you to decide.

These three books all have one concept in common with each other destiny. The destinies of the
characters of all these books begin with a journey, a journey that begins with a dream, a dream that
begins with a thought. A question is always asked though: is our destiny already determined for us? If
so, can we change it? Can our destiny be in point of fact already laid out for us? For instance, can a
murderer in point of fact be charged for what he/she has done if they were destined to do it? Is one
responsible for one s actions or not, is a very important question. Say the murderer gets off free of any
charges for the reason that the judge believes that destiny cannot be changed, is that indubitably fair?
Should a murderer get off free from charge, and can we in reality change our destiny? All valuable
questions; however, the moral behind those questions will be within the novels of John Steinbeck.

Developmental Prosopagnosia
Developmental prosopagnosia (DP) is a heterogeneous neurodevelopmental disorder that affects ~2%
of population. In contrast with acquired prosopagnosia, it occurs in the absence of brain damage. The
insufficiency in face recognition of people with DP can lead to chronic anxiety and stress, despite the
presence of normal intelligence and vision. Ocular scanning patterns can provide valuable information
on the nature of the facial recognition deficits in DP. Visual scanpath can differ depending on stimuli
and the goal oriented subject. One of the most accepted theories on face processing involves holistic
face perception in which faces are recognized as a conceptual whole, by integration of spatial relations
among facial components and featural information into one representation. Inversion effect is a
valuable tool in studying DP. According to double mode hypothesis, faces are processed by a specific

A visual scanpath can be used to determine whether the person was previously exposed to a certain
face, even in the absence of explicit recognition. Such effect can be seen by decreased number of

shown that DPs do not always show evidence of covert recognition. It is not clear whether DPs have
internal representations of faces and the pathways connecting them are damaged or whether they do
not posses any facial representations. (Bate). The difference between scanning saccades while viewing
famous and novel faces can provide evidence for any residual memories that can be intact. Some
researchers argue that patients with developmental prosopagnosia should not exhibit covert

on making memories(Bate). Such is not true for patients that have acquired

Port Botany Essay
Overview Port Botany, Australia
Ports are economically and strategically important to a country as they facilitate trade and promote the
local and national economy. Globally, ports handle above 90% of cargo and are an important element
in global logistics and supply chains (Song Parola, 2015). In Australia, ports enhance the country s
competitiveness, regional developments, supply chain connectivity and provide jobs (Ghaderi, Cahoon
Nguyen, 2016).
Sydney s first container terminal was built in 1969 in Port Jackson, and a second terminal at Glebe
Island was operable in 1973. Most of Eastern Australia s container traffic was handled by these two
facilities until Port Botany s facilities were developed (Robinson, 1985).
Port Botany is a deep water seaport which is dominated by trade in containerised manufactured
products as well as bulk liquid imports which includes natural gas and petroleum (NSW Ports Botany,
2013). It handles about one third of Australia s maritime container traffic and is the nation s second
largest container port. In the year 2011 12, the proportion of containers transported by road at the port
was 86%, while the remaining 14% was transported by rail (Guimarans, Harabor Van Hentenryck,
2015).
Analysis of the day to day operation of the port
The first stage in the operation cycle of a port begins when ships, trucks or rails arrive, which is
followed by the inspection of containers and cargo. Generally, cranes are used to unload the

Lord Capulet Romeo And Juliet
In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare presents many different aspects of Lord Capulet s personality in a
wide variety of ways. In Act 1 Scene 2, Shakespeare employs the metaphor let two more summers
wither in their pride / ere we may think her ripe to be a bride . In this metaphor, Shakespeare describes
Juliet as a fruit. This reference to the natural world presents Juliet as beautiful while verb such as
wither and ripe present Juliet as immature and naïve, not ready for the serious event of marriage.
Furthermore, like a fruit can easily be bruised, Shakespeare shows how Juliet can easily be damaged
and how Juliet is powerless in her choices and will be chosen by a man, like how a man picks a fruit
from a tree, mirrored in the Elizabethan Patriarchal society when women were powerless and it was
the men who possessed all the power. However, a contemporary audience would react very different to
this, possibly outraged due to Juliet s lack of choice in her life. In addition, it is possible to say that
Shakespeare choosing to rhyme bride and pride reflects Lord Capulet s feelings towards Juliet
marrying. However, later on in the extract, Lord Capulet says how those who are too soon marred are
those too early made . The word marred has two meaning, married and ruined so in this line,
Shakespeare shows how Lord Capulet is fearful of Juliet s premature marriage as he doesn t want
Juliet to become ruined, alluding to his own unhappy marriage with Lady Capulet, and how Lord

What I Thought Represented A Good Teacher
In my first field experience, I acquired many skills and knowledge in what I thought represented a
good teacher. In my total time spent in my observation hours I saw, two schools, eight different
teachers, and four different grade levels. The grades I viewed the most were first and second,
particularly because these are the grades I wish to teach in. For the majority of the time I spent with all
the grade levels, I found most of the teachers inspiring in some aspects of their lesson cycle, teaching
style and of course the creative décor around their rooms. I found that the most inspiring or beneficial
teachers were in Hondo, Texas, at Meyer elementary because of their unique structure and
compassionate curriculum for all of the students in which I want to pass on to my students in my
teaching future. At Meyer Elementary I first started with Mrs. Jessica Martinez s class, overall I found
her class to be well structured, organized and successful at most. But, She did not have her class quite
under control, and had difficulty retrieving their attention span, which I found odd with the multiple
teacher assistants she had, however I found that her lessons where quite intriguing to the students
knowledge. One lesson I found extremely stimulating was her word of the day, in which the students
compared and contrasted that specific vocabulary word throughout the activities in their school day.
The second teacher I observed was Mr. Gabe Cortez s P.E. class for first and second

The Process of Packet Meat in Wenonah Hauter´s Foodpoly Essay
We do not take in consideration on where our meat comes from and how they treat the animals. People
do not know how the process is from slaughtering a cow to the meat that you buy in your
neighborhood market. In the book Foodopoly, Wenonah Hauter argues that there is a
misrepresentation on what truly happens in the meatpacking industry, hog industry, the impact on
small farmers, and how the working conditions are for the meat packing industry workers. World
Wide Sires, Cooperative Resources International, and ABS Global are the three companies that
dominate the meat packaging industry. Hauter (2012) argues that over the past two decades meat
production and packaging has become more monopolize (157). This argument was possible because ...

the world, as well as being a central destination for Christian pilgrims. The Church of the Holy
Sepulchre was originally built by the Roman Emperor Constantine (272 337) in 330 CE upon the site

How can Warranty and Contract Management benefit the Government Customer?
The management of warranty and contracts is a key aspect of procurement both for the government
and the contractors. While there are numerous advantages of maintaining an effective contract system,
some of the key benefits include; tracking, contract vendors and their contact details, and knowing the
assets covered under the contracts. It also assists in maintaining the profiles of all the client contracts
under a single space.
The primary benefit of warranty and contract management is the reduction of administrative overhead
costs. Hoskisson Hitt (2008) explain that, with a centralized log of assets and contracts, the misuse of
resources is heavily minimized, thus giving the management an opportunity to allocate resources
where they are needed. Further, this translates into immediate savings of costs for the government
customer owing to the decommissioning of outdated machines off the contracts and

Hedge Funds And Its Strategy Classifications
Introduction
As of 2014, more than 11,000 hedge funds are managing more than $2.6 Trillion in assets (De Pol,
2015). The statement itself speaks how important these hedge funds are in the global financial market.
They provide investors with opportunities to achieve gains and manage risks. Hedge funds provide
liquidity and make financial markets more efficient. These funds can be operated with extreme
flexibility and play an important role in financial innovation and reallocation of financial risk (Rubin
et al, 1999). Although it sounds good, hedge funds took a hit during the 2008 crisis. Along with the
credit crisis came Madoff fraud, the biggest investment scam in 2008. Investors started looking at
these funds as high risk, highly leveraged investment vehicles that lacked transparency. Since mid
2009 hedge funds have picked up and strategies are being improved for better risk management,
transparency and gaining confidence of investors.
The article will give a brief overview of Hedge Funds and its strategy classifications. Then it will
particularly describe Event Driven strategy and the market risks associated with it.
Hedge Funds
A hedge fund can be defined as a pool of investment vehicles that is actively managed and is open
only to a limited group of investors and whose performance is measured in absolute return units
(Connor and Woo, 2003). Hedge funds are private investment partnerships that require investors to
make considerable investments. They are largely

1970s Literature
1970s Literature
You fool! You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is to never get involved in a
land war in Asia. (The Princess Bride, 1973). This quote from the novel directly speaks to the political
arena that was in play in the 1970s. Three major political events occurred in the 1970s: The Vietnam
War, The Watergate Scandal, and The Cold War. This paper explores the influence of these events of
the literature of the time. The Vietnam War spanned more than ten years, ending in 1975. This
contributed to the highly political decade of the 1970s. This war affected many U.S. citizens, and there
were many deaths. The U.S. deploys over 500,000 American troops to Vietnam (The Vietnam War,
1962 1975). Another major political event of the 1970s was the Watergate Scandal of 1972. The
Watergate Scandal was the illegal cover up of a burglary that resulted in the resignation of President
Richard M. Nixon (Events, Volume 8: Superpower: 1959 1982). The third major political event of the

The Development of Gross negligence manslaughter
For many years the courts have used the terms recklessness and gross negligence to describe the fault
required for involuntary manslaughter, other than constructive manslaughter, without any clear
definition of either term. It was not clear whether these terms were merely two ways of describing the
same thing, or whether they represented two distinct conditions of fault.
All previous cases must now be read in the light of Prentice, Adomako and Holloway in the Court of
Appeal, and Adomako in the House of Lords. The background to the decisions is that the House of
Lords decided in Seymour that the law governing involuntary manslaughter, other than unlawful act
manslaughter, was the same as that of the statutory offence (now repealed) of causing death by
reckless driving, that is, that the fault required was Lawrence recklessness, as set out above subject to
the omission of any reference to a risk of causing damage to property. There had to be a risk of
physical injury to some other person [Kong Cheuck Kwnan]. According to this controversial decision
of the House of Lords in Seymour, the Lawrence direction was comprehensive and of general

By the mid 1960 s, all these great nations were in a race to establish American colonies. Like in every expedition, the primary purposes were to gain wealth and riches, which was the main reasoning behind all of the colonization s. On their way to building these settlements, the colonials encountered the Native Americans and had to deal with them in very different ways. The first of these nations to arrive in the new world was Spain, led by Christopher Columbus. • 3. Examples Of Kindness In Black Beauty The book Black Beauty by Anna Sewell tells the story of a horse named Black Beauty by a few of his owners. He grows up with good owners: a farmer, then the Birtwicks, but then gets changed into the hands of owners who are more cruel, who get worse as time goes on. He then finds a good owner in Jerry Barker, who treats him well yet must work him hard as a cab horse. Eventually, Jerry has to sell him, where he finds the worst of his owners, until being bought and recovered, then finally sold to people who knew him as Black Beauty, and determined to never sell him. The theme of kindness runs through the entire book. Kindness is when someone thinks about the feelings of everyone else (not discriminating between looks, actions, or social status), and makes a conscious, continuous, and wholehearted effort to treat them well. Kindness is when people treat everyone with respect. In Black Beauty, the creatures who are shown as good ones are kind to cruel and kind people alike. On page 8, Black Beauty s mother told him not to say that it served a man right to die when he was hunting and injured his horse (her other son), showing that she was kind to everyone, even those who were mean to someone close to her. Some people would think it was okay, as long as they didn t insult them to their face, but Black Beauty s mother shows how kind she is by not doing that. Since she also doesn t reprimand the other colts for saying those things, she is kind to them as well, even though they are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As a society, there are all kinds of people that have different backgrounds, participate or do things, and we look at them as an American hero. It can be someone who does something courageous but doesn t allow fear to stop them from anything even if they are putting themselves in danger. More than ever before, each of us individually have our own way of genuinely recognizing who is a hero for us, and what we really think makes a hero, a hero. In this case, an American hero for me happens to be an American team. The U.S Women s soccer team to be exact, these women are what is a true definition of an American hero. These two database engineers after hearing about the problems their customers at Ingress were faced when they tried to put several documents from different departments together, decided to create software that would allow the management of unstructured information as documents and hence they created what they called Enterprise document management . Currently that term has evolved to what is now called Enterprise content management . According to IT Experts: ECM systems primarily focus on the capture, storage, retrieval, and dissemination of digital files for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore Companies also faced the risk that the startup would run out of money and also lack proven execution experience. Also the technology that Documentum uses while revolutionary has been only tested with two companies Boeing and Syntex it will be very difficult to explain to potential clients what exactly the software can bring to them in terms of value and what exactly are the ramifications of using the software in their companies. Opportunities Because Documentum s technology is something new and its concept is revolutionary selecting a target market presents a challenge. There are many companies that could benefit from this type of software especially in the areas where the software has already been tested: aircraft maintenance and pharmaceutical NDA. According to the case, management has retained 5 scenarios (Exhibit 6) that followed a process developed by Geoffrey Moore. The real problem lies on how does Documentum goes about selling the product do they go about it vertically or horizontally? Threats The major threats that we can discern is the fact that the technology is revolutionary in itself and that those types of technological advances are most of the time adopted by early visionaries. Furthermore explaining the technology to potential clients can become a challenge because the clients themselves don t know what they are looking for and might also not be willing to consider the expenditures involved in such a project. 3. ... This random sampling error indicated that there was no cross section of the target group (generation Y) and in turn was a sample selection error. There were 3 respondents whose results were not analyzed, as they did not fall into the target group of generation Y and this was an administrative error. This is another common research problem is survey non response. Marketers can unintentionally design surveys which many customers choose not to respond to. Survey bias is the next potential survey research problem that can be likely to occur. In survey sampling, bias refers to the tendency of a sample statistic to systematically over or under estimate a population parameter. At the time of the survey, we are to assume that the chosen sample is the representation of the Gen Y population and that information provided by the respondents is both accurate and honest. It appears that there was a response bias due to the unconscious misrepresentation and misplacement of the Pepsi logo at the top of the survey. This was inadvertent but may have led to a response bias where the respondents appeared to have been influenced by an auspices bias a bias in the responses of subjects caused by their being influenced by the organization conducting the study (Zikmond et all, 2011). Improving the accuracy of the non radiological part of the evaluation will limit unnecessary immobilization and expensive imaging modalities when standard radiographs appear normal. Objectives To provide an overview of available clinical evaluation tests for scaphoid fractures and to compare their diagnostic accuracies. Methods We performed a systematic review of all studies assessing diagnostic characteristics of clinical evaluation in scaphoid fractures by searching MEDLINE, EMBASE, Cochrane, and CINAHL databases. Only studies on clinical testing prior to radiographic evaluation and with acceptable reference standard for occult fractures were included. Thirteen relevant articles were analysed that described a total of 25 tests. Diagnostic characteristics of the tests were used to construct contingency tables. In a post WW2 era the world was carved up between two spheres of influence, between two super powers with totally contrasting ideologies and two completely different views concerning the governance of a state. In the USSR s areas of influence, state ownership and strict control was commanded by Communists. In contrast, the US was striving for a political reorganisation and liberalisation of the world in combination with a movement towards a free market economy. • 12. Moral Decision Making In The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe Essay We all make choices; sometimes those choices have negative consequences. By Ehi Oyugbo Humans are capable of making their own decisions which can often have positive or negative consequences on both themselves and others. Every day we face decisions about what to eat, what to wear and how to use our time. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis tells a story of forgiveness, bravery, self sacrifice and betrayal while introducing Christian values and lessons on moral conduct. Although Lewis claims that links to the Christian faith are purely coincidental, the story contains elements of Christian allegory and many parallels between the scriptures and the life of the Pevensie children. This essay will analyse both Aslan and Edmund Pevensie s choices throughout the movie and their influencing factors in order to gain insight into moral decision making. In the novels, Of Mice and Men, The Pearl, and Cannery Row we see different destinies and dreams, but they all have the same goal, to reach them. Nature has not given to everyone a talent for the purpose; among those to whom such a talent is given, there is often a want of disposition or of courage to do it. The saying you control your own destiny applies to the everyday life of us all. The way you act will determine who you are as a person and what you chose to bring out of life. A question is always asked though: is our destiny already determined for us? If so, can we change it? Can our destiny be in point of fact already laid out for us? For instance, can a murderer in point of fact be charged for what he/she has done if they were destined to do it? Is one responsible for one s actions or not, is a very important question. Say the murderer gets off free of any charges for the reason that the judge believes that destiny cannot be changed, is that indubitably fair? Should a murderer get off free from charge, and can we in reality change our destiny? All valuable questions; however, the moral behind those questions will be within the novels of John Steinbeck. In contrast with acquired prosopagnosia, it occurs in the absence of brain damage. The insufficiency in face recognition of people with DP can lead to chronic anxiety and stress, despite the presence of normal intelligence and vision. Ocular scanning patterns can provide valuable information on the nature of the facial recognition deficits in DP. Visual scanpath can differ depending on stimuli and the goal oriented subject. One of the most accepted theories on face processing involves holistic face perception in which faces are recognized as a conceptual whole, by integration of spatial relations among facial components and featural information into one representation. • 22. Port Botany Essay Overview Port Botany, Australia Ports are economically and strategically important to a country as they facilitate trade and promote the local and national economy. Globally, ports handle above 90% of cargo and are an important element in global logistics and supply chains (Song Parola, 2015). In Australia, ports enhance the country s competitiveness, regional developments, supply chain connectivity and provide jobs (Ghaderi, Cahoon Nguyen, 2016). Sydney s first container terminal was built in 1969 in Port Jackson, and a second terminal at Glebe Island was operable in 1973. Most of Eastern Australia s container traffic was handled by these two facilities until Port Botany s facilities were developed (Robinson, 1985). Port Botany is a deep water seaport which is dominated by trade in containerised manufactured products as well as bulk liquid imports which includes natural gas and petroleum (NSW Ports Botany, 2013). It handles about one third of Australia s maritime container traffic and is the nation s second largest container port. In the year 2011 12, the proportion of containers transported by road at the port was 86%, while the remaining 14% was transported by rail (Guimarans, Harabor Van Hentenryck, 2015). • 23. Lord Capulet Romeo And Juliet In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare presents many different aspects of Lord Capulet s personality in a wide variety of ways. In Act 1 Scene 2, Shakespeare employs the metaphor let two more summers wither in their pride / ere we may think her ripe to be a bride . In this metaphor, Shakespeare describes Juliet as a fruit. This reference to the natural world presents Juliet as beautiful while verb such as wither and ripe present Juliet as immature and naïve, not ready for the serious event of marriage. Furthermore, like a fruit can easily be bruised, Shakespeare shows how Juliet can easily be damaged and how Juliet is powerless in her choices and will be chosen by a man, like how a man picks a fruit from a tree, mirrored in the Elizabethan Patriarchal society when women were powerless and it was the men who possessed all the power. However, a contemporary audience would react very different to this, possibly outraged due to Juliet s lack of choice in her life. In addition, it is possible to say that Shakespeare choosing to rhyme bride and pride reflects Lord Capulet s feelings towards Juliet marrying. However, later on in the extract, Lord Capulet says how those who are too soon marred are those too early made . The word marred has two meaning, married and ruined so in this line, Shakespeare shows how Lord Capulet is fearful of Juliet s premature marriage as he doesn t want Juliet to become ruined, alluding to his own unhappy marriage with Lady Capulet, and how Lord ...
