8/3/2015 Shigeru Miyamoto, he was born in 1952, Kyoto, Japan, when Miyamoto
was a child he was known to be a great cartoonist, and like most cartoonist now
today, he was inspired by Walt Disney. During his schooling, he didn t really focus
in his classes, instead he would focus more on his world and environment, doing his
artwork. Soon his artwork came to known as Super Mario, Legend of Zelda, Metroid,
and most other amazing products from Nintendo. Miyamoto went to college at
Kanazawa Munici College of Industrial Art Design, it took him around five years
to graduate with a Bachelor s Degree, after college he was then given a proposal to
work for Nintendo in 1977. Miyamoto s Father, was a friend of the President of
Nintendo, which is the main reason why Miyamoto has got a interview at
Nintendo. Miyamoto enjoyed every game that he spent time creating, When
Nintendo began designing and making the hardware for there systems, like the
Nintendo 64, they were making games from a 2d design into a 3d design, when it
came to the Nintendo 64, the sky was the limit, creativity was key, and no one told
Nintendo how to make the games, which Is why Miyamoto loved the Nintendo 64
era so much. Let s talk about some of Miyamoto s projects, Super Mario, The
gameplay of Mario games originated early on with Donkey Kong. Donkey Kong
was a game where you were running on platforms and jumping over things that came

Examples Of Lorenz Curve
Lorenze Curve
The Lorenz curve originated from the early part of the twentiteth century when Max
Otto Lorenz published a paper in 1905 in an American statistical journal outlining the
technique which was to bear his name. However, it was the work on poverty and
income inequality by Sir Tony Atkinson during the 1970s that led to the popular
dissemination and development of the original work of Lorenz.
The Lorenz curve can be explained as an extension of the ogive that is used in
economics to show the distribution of income or wealth among the population. It is a
grapgh of cumulative percentage wealth, income or some other measure of wealth ,
against cumulative percentage of population. For instance, we can use this curve to
determine the fairness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The standard framework will be developed in four stages.
First, we convert the wealth into percentages and accumulate them to get the
cumulative percentage of wealth. We also convert the population also into
percentages and accumulate them to get the cumulative percentage of population.
You can skip this step if all these have been provided with the question.
Next, we draw a set of Axis in which the cumulative percentage of wealth is
measured along the Y axis while the cumulative percentage of household is
measured along the X axis. Usually the graph s axes are closed off to from a box.
We then assume that we live in a truly equal society. If this were the case, the
relationship will be such that as we move along the x axis, each 10 percent of
household would own additional 10 percent of wealth. In this case, the line we would
be a straight line emanating from the origin Point (0,0) to Point (100,100). This line
is known as the line of absolute equality.
Finally, Plot the cumulative percentage of population against cumulative percentage
of wealth. In this case, the line will bow away from the line of absolute equality. The
more unequal the society is, the further it will deviate away from the line of absolute
Analysis Of John Irving s The Fate God
Everyday people lose something in one way or the other and for most of the things,
they don t ponder on the importance of the things lost. Throughout the novel, John
Irving depicts different unique objects that has either has no arms or has lost their
arms. The armadillo, Tabitha s dressmaker dummy, his swaddled body, and Mary
Magdalenes statue are symbolically omenfor Owen. Of all the objects, the
Watahantowet s familiar totem was greatest message from God to Owen for that it
appeared in the beginning and in the end. In the fate God has prepared for him, Owen
learns the true meaning of loss through various encounters with armless objects
because each teaches him a thing about loss.
The curious armadillo may be small, but losing a part of it meant something
important is lost in Johnny and Owen s childhood. Before the death of Tabitha s,
Johnny allows Owen to borrow the armadillo, but afterward, Owen unexpectedly
returns the armadillo without claws. As Dan says, We ve lost a part of ourselves
(86). Johnny and Owen lose the innocence of children and the positive and
humorous attitude toward matters around them. Also their relationship as friends
becomes a bit pull apart. To Owen, the claws are a way to express his belief: GOD
HAS TAKEN YOUR MOTHER. MY HANDS WERE THE INSTRUMENT. GOD
HAS TAKEN MY HANDS. I AM GOD S INSTRUMENT (87). Despite the fact that
Owen may be used by God, Owen takes off the arms of the armadillo to show that he

An Analysis Of George Gershwin s An American Folk Opera
An American Folk Opera. George Gershwin s most successful piece of expansive
musical drama was subtitled with this term that no musician or critic had applied to
a work of musical drama before the 1935 premiere of Porgy and Bess. Much has
been written about the work s subtitle; its literal meaning, its evolution, and its
implications for a changing cultural landscape. Porgy and Besswas the last in a
triptych of literature and theater surrounding the character of Porgy, a crippled
beggar living in Charleston s semi fictitious Catfish Row. Porgy, the 1925 novel
written by white author DuBose Heyward, was the original. The novel received
mixed reviews; white critics praised Heyward s vivid descriptions of the life of the

Dvorak s Symphony No. 9, From the New World was based upon spirituals and
plantation song from the South. Bartok s Ten Easy Pieces for piano were heavily
influenced by folk melody [that was] a kind of inspirational motto to be developed.
Gershwin understood there to be a need for a truly American voice in music,
comparable to those of the great nationalist European composers, recognizing that
The only kinds of music which endure are those which possess form in the universal
sense and folk music. All else dies.
Similar to Dvorak in his ninth symphony, the idiom that Gershwin employed for his
opera was that of the Negro spiritual and folk song. Before composing Porgy and
Bess, Gershwin made a trek down to Charleston, South Carolina and some of its
outlying island communities with the purpose of studying rural African American
culture. It was there that he became immersed in the music of that community and it
was there that he garnered his inspiration for the opera s score. Again harkening to
the traditions of the European masters, Gershwin decided against the note for note
transcription of the songs he had heard, but rather used them as inspiration for a
continuous musical narrative of folk inspired themes. Thus, we arrive at the term
folk opera. Gershwin s use of African American folk material in the composition of
an opera gave rise to the literal terminology
Essay on Consumerism Taking Over Our Universities
In contemporary society, the average person is coddled and raised to be sensitive
about everything whether it be good or bad. This translates over to universities,
which causes them to be less academic and more consumer based. As the years
progress, the trend is becoming more prevailing which poses the question, do
universities truly care about the education that they are providing, or is it turning
more into a business? Although some consumerism in education is good and is a
driving force to better institutions, too much like we have in it now is beginning to
deteriorate the quality of the education provided and in turn weakening American
society. Consumerism is becoming more widespread in universities due to the rising
number of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to, Grade Inflation in the College Classroom, Students are paying more
for a college education every year, and increasingly they are demanding the reward of
a good grade for their purchase (Tucker, Courts 2). The expectations that the students
have going into college are telling of how consumerism is tarnishing higher education
. Consumerism affects students grades, according to, Grade Inflation in the College
Classroom, students are not studying as much as students in the past and their
grades are still on a rise. This shift in focus by the university causes the classes to
become less intense creating a more mediocre education for the students. This harms
students who will have to face the problem of entering the workforce with an
inferior education. Studies have shown that, Many students feel that lower grades
can significantly damage their opportunities to gain employment after attending a
university [...] it may be difficult to compete with a near straight A student from a
university that has shown grade inflation, if one s grades are lower. Many believe
that grade inflation gives certain students an unfair advantage in the job market or
when applying to graduate schools (Tucker, Courts 2). If one student goes to a
school that is known for a certain subject and graduates with a good grade point
average, they could lose the
Intervention, The U. S Nicaragua Relations
Intervention leads to more intervention, the U.S Nicaragua relations in the 20th
century prior to the Sandinistas is helpful in understanding the evolution of the
concept of democracy, and thus in answering the question of whether the U.S can
cause a positive impact on Nicaragua s democracy considering that elections will be
held in November this year. Ahead of said elections, Daniel Ortega, Nicaraguas
president, is seeking a third consecutive term, and has expressed that no international
observers will be allowed to oversee the elections. This has raised concern in
Washington, leading the House of Representatives to introduce and pass the
Nicaragua Investment Conditionally Act, as the Senate awaits to vote to pass the
bill, concerns both in favor and against have emerged in Nicaragua. The NICA act,
aims to prevent Ortega from accessing international funds if it doesn t adopt reforms
that promote democracyin the country. Nicaraguan politicians showed concern after
this call for economic sanctions against Ortega, and the government released a
statement saying that this Act is a violation of international law and the united
nations charter. The government of Nicaragua argues that this bill is part of the
interventionist policy that throughout the history of Nicaragua has intervened in our
international and sovereign political, social, and economic process. This argument
favors a No, answer saying that U.S doesn t cause a positive impact on Nicaragua s

Prostitution In Victorian
The study of Victorian prostitutes by historians came into its own in the 1970s and
1980s when there was the feminist revival in reclaiming the female body, femininity
and female sexuality, historiographical trend reflecting social interest. Just as
historians were eager to uncover the sexual underground of Victorian society, the
Victorians were as equally fascinated as they were horrified and ashamed of the
profession. In this case, we will be considering a prostitute a profession, that is that
the prostitute exchanged sexual acts for payment, be that monetarily or material
goods. By constructing the figure of the prostitute , this essay will be considering the
figure to be the image, portrayal and public perception of the prostitute. Thus,... Show

Women who were autonomous in their sexual sphere, separating themselves from
the patriarchal model by being economically and sexually independent. Prostitution
manifested the worst of Victorian society into a profession that aimed to corrupt
middle and upper class men. There was much fear of a woman s sexuality due to
the fact that it was seen as dangerous if a woman s sexual urges became out of
control or indulged in. This is due to the fact that women were defined by their
menstrual cycle, which meant that they were prone to hysteria, with the word
hysteria literally derived from the Greek word for womb, entwining the idea of
women being unreliable when they become sexually
Why Teens Must Learn For Becoming Safe Drivers
Why Teens Must Learn to Become Safe Drivers Most Americans over the age of
sixteen have a license and drive a car, the problem is not everyone can handle their
car in an elegant manor. Most teenagers on the road do not have much experience
on driving, especially in a stressful situation like trying to merge onto a busy
roadway. In order to entice new drivers on practicing safe drivingtactics, numerous
written reports, peer reviews, and articles establishing the fact that teens are not
simply prepared to drive we be discussed. Teens have been proven to get into more
crashes than someone who is thirty or older. Since new innovations and
technological advances happen every year, people seem to get lost in what is
happening in their car... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If a driver does not think this is becoming much of an issue, the next time they are at
a stop light they can make a game out of how many people they can spot on their
phones. In a peer reviewed article in EHS Today, Sandy Smith reports that teens aged
fourteen to seventeen, think they will not get into a car crash while texting versus
drinking and driving (Smith). Smith also states:
In a 2008 study by the United Kingdom s Transport Research Laboratory, reaction
time of drivers 17 24 years of age was reduced by 35 percent when typing a text
message, compared with 12 percent when driving after consuming alcohol to the
legal limit. A similar study was released in 2006 by the University of Utah using
participants 22 34 years of age. This study found that the impairments associated with
talking on a cell phone can be as profound as those associated with driving while
intoxicated during those times when drivers are directly engaged in cell phone use.
(Smith)
This report is proof that texting is very much a hazard and can be as dangerous, if
not more than drinking and driving. According to The Multitasking Mind distracted
driving produces jerky and unstable driving when compared to non distracted driving
(Salvucci and Taagen 71). The poor judgment calls that these teens make can affect
the lives of those who pass by them everyday. The solution to this would be
problematic situation would be to change laws on texting and driving, as not
Bicycle Thieves Essay
There are many interpretations regarding what defines a realist film . One
particular film movement that is hailed as being realist is Italian Neorealism. The
Italian Neorealist movement came about in an attempt to move away from the
cultural heritage of Fascism post World War Two, as such the effects of the war on
the working class can be seen within the reality of the cinema at the time. Bicycle
Thieves (1948) is often referenced as a classic Italian Neorealist film. AndrГ© Bazin
in particular, praises it for it s neorealist approach and goes so far as to hail it as a
true masterpiece of Italian neorealist cinema. This suggests Bicycle Thieves could be
considered a pure realist film, to what extent this is true is debatable.
One feature of a realist film is it s concern with depicting life, in particular the life
of the working class, as accurately as possible. Often these films focus on the social
issues and problems of the working class. They try to avoid presenting ... Show more

Many neorealist stylistic techniques are employed in order to give the film a sense of
realism and authenticity thus causing the viewer to think about the film in it s

documentary genre and therefore employ similar stylistic techniques. One such
technique is using long takes, this can be seen in Bicycle Thieves in the scene at the

The Rings of Saturn by W.G. Sebald
W.G. Sebald s novel The Rings of Saturn explores the relationship between toleration
and persecution through a first person narrative. The novel is preoccupied with loss
and the ways we have tried to come to terms with mortality. It is a meditation on the
destructive nature of history, the human lives affected, and the restorative power of
art. However, his work is not simply a record of these humaninduced catastrophes,
but also attempts to fashion new representational tools for the purpose of
acknowledging and coming to terms with the realities of modern human history.
Sebald s critcism tends to focus on the biographical and psychological backgrounds of
the writers he mentions. He draws heavily on the canon of twentieth century Marxist
thought, including works from Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer. His complex
thesis draws specifically on their work The Dialectic of Enlightenment. The
Enlightenment was an intellectual movement that spread through Europe during the
eighteenth century, which involved a radical change in the way that philosophers and
others understood the role of reason. It valued independent thought and promoted
reason to a higher status and for some came to replace faith. Intrinsic in Sebald s
work is the idea that the Enlightenment project was programmed by violent distrusts
of the non identical and a coercive desire to eliminate otherness. Specifically, Sebald
draws on Horkheimer and Adorno s critique of civilization articulated in The

Hypertension Essay
Hypertension is a common and major cause of stroke and other cardiovascular
diseases. It is often referred as the silent killer because there are no symptoms in the
early stages of the disease. Hypertension, if untreated, can cause damage to the
arteries and to the organs that are supplied with blood by the arteries. Hypertension
can originate from a lot of things such as improper diet, obesity, genetics, etc. People
with hypertension can contract a stroke at any time. The chances of a stroke are very
high.
Hypertension is commonly divided into two categories of primary and
secondary.Primary Hypertension has no identifiable cause of high blood pressure. The
Secondary is high blood pressure that s caused by another medical condition.

Proper bookkeeping is important to sustaining and expanding a business. Without it,
you run the risk of hitting cash flow crunches, wasting money, and missing out on
opportunities to expand. When you are devising or revising your bookkeeping
routine, remember that the purpose of bookkeeping is to help you manage your
business and to enable tax agencies to evaluate your business activity. As long as
your bookkeeping achieves both of these objectives, it can and should be as simple
as possible.
The general guidelines here outline what you must take care of and provide ideas for

Keep a log of each category of expense, for tax purposes and write yourself a check
for the total. Write cash reimbursable in your check register to differentiate this
from taxable income. Alternatively, you can keep a petty cash record by writing a
check to petty cash and keeping a log of each expense paid out of petty cash.
Inventory Records
Keeping on top of your inventory records will enable you to prevent pilferage, keep
inventory holdings to a minimum, and track buying trends, among other things.
If you sell a large number of small ticket items for example, as in a stationary store
you might want to use a computer system to track inventory or tie your computer
system into your sales by having a POS (point of sale) inventory system. If you sell
larger ticket items you may be able to do it yourself on paper.
The crucial inventory information you need to capture is: date purchased, stock
number of item purchased, purchase price, date sold, and sale price.
Accounts Receivable
If your products or services are paid for at time of delivery, you will not need an
accounts receivable tracking system. However, if you provide services or products
for which people pay you at a later date, your accounts receivable records keep track
of what is owed to you. You can monitor accounts receivable by holding on to a
copy of all invoices sent out or by keeping an accounts receivable record. Either way,
the information you need to capture includes: invoice date,
Television Programs Can Support And Facilitate Language...
For many years, parents have relied on using educational programs to teach and
engage their children with new concepts and materials. Conversely, many children
have also used television as an opportunity for learning and language development.
For example, the rise of television programs like Elmo Street and Teletubbies
demonstrates this upward trend of substituting media sources for teaching and
learning. However, despite the increasing support from parents toward television
programs, many researchers have mixed reviews on putting our children into
viewing long hours of what they considered unnecessary learning. Thus in what
follows of this paper, I will focus on explaining how television programs can
support and facilitate language development. Moreover, I will also discuss the
mixed literacy support for using television as a learning tool and finally, I will
conduct a study that measures, specifically, the relationship between watching
educational TV and learning novel words. Hopefully, with these measures, I will be
able to find supporting evidence that proves educational TV can be a good predictor
for word learning.
Through the years, one continuous point of debate has been whether educational TV
can facilitate and improve word learning in children. Many studies on this debate
have found distinct and mixed research outcomes. For example, one study has been
Mabel s Rice Word from Sesame Street, in which he found mixed supporting evidence
that television programs can

The Effects Of Irradiation
Exposure to ionizing radiation induces oxidative damage that leads to alteration of
tissue physiological function as observed in the present study. This was evidenced by
significant elevation in kidney MDA content. These results match the increase in
lipid peroxidation post irradiation obtained by Srinivasan et al. (2007) and
Pratheeshkumar and kuttan (2011). Free radicals generated by irradiation react with
unsaturated lipids generating hydroperoxides, which in turn can induce changes in
lipid bilayer thereby altering the membrane permeability and inducing lipid
peroxidation (Suzuki et al. 1997). Also, significant elevation of kidney GSH contents
were observed in irradiated rats. This increase in GSH level may be due to

1997) or due to radiation induced deterioration in liver detoxification function
(Robbins et al. 2001). In addition, the increment in serum urea level which is the
major end product of protein catabolism may be also due to excess degradation of
protein post irradiation (Moulder et al. 2002). Results of the present study also
showed that whole body gamma irradiation at 6.5Gy evoked a sharp increase in
glucose level and decrease in Mg kidney content. Hyperglycemia has been found
post irradiation due to minimized utilization of glucose by injured tissues as well as
acceleration of gluconeogenesis which is indirect result of irradiation (Abdel Salam
et al. 2006). The hypomagnesaemia may be due to insufficient renal function or
excess release through damaged cells post irradiation (Kotb et al. 1990).
Lipid metabolism abnormalities, is a characteristic consequence of renal insufficiency
(Trevisan et al. 2006). In the present study, significant elevation was observed in
serum cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL levels while there was a significant
decrease in HDL serum level of irradiated rats. This confirms that previously
reported by Baker et al. (2009); Anees et al. (2014) and Abd El kader et al. (2015).
This indicates that ionizing radiation induced oxidative stress might alter hepatic lipid

2.0. Introduction The Republic of South Africa signed the Kyoto Protocol under
the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on 31
July, 2002 as a non annex I party. Therefore, South Africa, like all other developing
countries has not been allocated specific targets to commit to under the protocol.
At the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP) negotiations that took place in
Copenhagen in 2009 (UNFCC, 2009), South Africa took the responsibility to carry
out mitigation actions to reduce their emissions 34% by the year 2020, and 42%
by the year 2025, below the business as usual trajectory (Voster, Winkler and
Meagan, 2011 p.243). However, this pledge is subject to the provision and
assistance of adequate, capacity building, financial and technological support from
other developed countries. These targets were officially submitted to the
Copenhagen Accord on 29 January, 2010. Furthermore, South Africa is said to be a
participant of the World Bank s Partnership for Market Readiness (PMR). This is a
capacity building program supporting the development of market based policies.
South Africa s exposure to the carbon market has mainly been through the Clean

Designated National Authority (DNA) for initial review and approval. They cover
the following project types; bio fuels, energy efficiency, waste management,
cogeneration, fuel switching and hydro power, and cover sectors like
Paradise Lost Changes
Paradise Lost by John Milton characterizes Eve prior to the Fall of Man, during the
Fall, and after, and the story takes place in the Garden of Eden, Heaven, and Hell.
This world renown epic poem takes us on Eve s journey and others during the
beginning of the world. After sin overtook Eve, she consequently changed, and her
relationship with Adam and God changed; however, mankind can relate to her today
despite her major flaws.
The character of Eve in Paradise Lost can be described as curious, wise, and beautiful
prior to the first sin of mankind. Eve was inferior to Adam because he was created in
God s image, but Eve was created in Adam s as stated in line 4.299, which says, He

but in the end it will only bring forth death and destruction. Sin appeals to our

Sin still produces the same result today that it did during the beginning of mankind.
Just as Eve experienced shame beyond measure because of her sin, the same hold

Animal Farm Movie And Book Comparison
The Russian Revolution inspired the book Animal Farm by George Orwell which
later became a movie. Based on Orwell s classic short story and the inspired movie,
Animal Farm consisted an abundant number of similarities as well as differences
in the categories of setting, characters, plot events, and resolution. First and
foremost, setting in the movie and original novel of Animal Farm provides many

Pineapple Chapter Summary
In chapter one of this book, the author narrates his story how the experience he had
with a friend by the name Pineapple who she had met six years earlier while she
was in a kindergarten class. While the author was discussing with Pineapple, she
revealed that her class did not have a white child instead they were all black or
Hispanic. I believe that public schools in America have a great purpose for the school
going children and therefore, there should be no need of segregating students of
color. The main purpose of the American public schools is to prepare students for
higher education. However, when I was young, I believed that the purpose of public
schools was to prepare the students for higher paying jobs. However, I have come to
realize preparing the students was not the main goal of the public schools. Instead,
the schools are meant to give the students knowledge which they can use in the
future to further their education or to prepare for any career. I realized that when
students are prepared for a workforce... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When students are taught together in the same classroom despite the color, their
learning experiences improves and they can be able to learn a lot from each other
since they have different cultures. For instance, the case of Pineapple who the author
is talking about in his book should be experienced in schools, and this means that the
government should not have public schools that have only blacks or Hispanic
students. Instead, there should be the integration of students with better learning
experiences. Being educated together has a significant value since the students will
be able to learn and appreciate different cultures, and the students of color will feel
values, and this will increase the confidence and
Ghost Military Mission Command
Part Three
Mission command is the exercise of authority and direction by the commander using
mission orders to enable disciplined initiative within the commander s intent to
empower agile and adaptive leaders in the conduct of unified land operations (ADRP
6 0) What does a commander do when all communications with higher command is
severed? Combatant commanders cannot cease to operate simply because
communications are interrupted. In Ghost Fleet, the Chinese completely disrupt all
communications for the American fleet. In beginning of the novel, this cripples the
fleet. Lack of orders paralyzes the much needed response to the invasion and attacks.
The breakdown of communications cannot stop the fight. Mission command outlines
how mission orders set the battlefield for success. Disciplined initiative to continue
the mission based on a clear understanding of the commander s intent. In the situation
presented in the novel, we are given two examples of this. When the attack at Pearl
Harbor begins, most commanders of the fleet freeze with indecision when
communications cease. This indecision cost countless lives as the torpedoes strike
the unmoving ships. In dichotomy, the USS Coronado sees the attack and acts
immediately. They are the only ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the future, technology and digital systems will continue to play an important role
in how the United States Army fights and wins our nation s wars. As technology

important that leaders maintain the ability to fight and win without these benefits.
Over reliance on digital systems and unfettered information is a weakness that our

devastatingly in the recent annexation of Crimea. In order to safeguard the trust
emplaced on leaders by the American people, it is a lesson not repeated by the US

Nvc Tool Analysis
Reflect on the usefulness of the two tools.
I particularly enjoyed reading all about SCARF, more so than NVC, I think
because I can relate more to it. Perhaps this means I need to work more on NVC? I
m not sure because I also like to think I can politely and correctly communicate with
others, usually doing it assertively but in a non violent way.
The five key elements of SCARF (Status, Certainty, Autonomy, Relatedness, and
Fairness) were perhaps a little more natural to me, than using the NVC process,
except for Autonomy, which I have only just learned about in this unit.
I believe they are both very useful to learn, perfect and utilize in every day life with
relationships, at work, with the self, etc.
How would you apply the two tools in your daily life? Use two concrete examples for
both tools (4 examples).

Knowing my situation is stressing out those close to me, and could be potentially
putting a strain on some of my personal relationships, it is important to me to move

I did not really know much at all about autonomy until reading Rock s Journal (2008),

Technology In Canada
According to the Globe and Mail, as of 2013, 23% of Canadian Companies offered
employees the option to telecommute. A Statistics Canada study stated that in
2000, 1,425,700 respondents worked from home, where as in 2008 the number of
people working from home was 1,748,600, a small but notable upward trend.
Though numbers are only increasing slowly, more and more Canadians are
working from home. The trend is particularly impacting university graduates, of
who more than 1 in 5 work from home. Factors that have contributed to this trend
include an increase in the type and availability of technology, the desire of today s
workers to have a better work life balance, and the desire of companies to attract
employees. In today s work technology is increasing at a rapid pace, and much of it
is more accessible than before. An example that has been changed by both of these
factors is the internet. When first introduced to homes and businesses, use of the
internet required it to be connected to a phone line. In many homes this would have
meant that you could use one or the other, but not both at once. During this era access
to the internet was limited to those who could afford to... Show more content on

Throughout the world there are a large range of fruit and vegetables being
produced and supplied to consumers, these products have to meet harvesting
standards to ensure good quality. Cucumber (Cucumis sativus) is part of the
cucurbitaceae family, is also a short day plant and originated from India. In 2012
the world produced 65,134.08 million kilos, this was a new all time high. China
produces 48,000 million kilos, this is 73% of the worlds production (Fresh Plaza,
2014). Cucumbers are generally grown indoors in a hydroponic system when grown
commercially this is a lot more efficient as the environment can be controlled, this
will help ensure growers are supplying quality cucumbers for consumers, this will
also help with profitability. There are high standards that need to be met when
growing cucumbers commercially starting from the seedall the way to the harvesting
of the cucumber. The most important part is in the early stages as this helps ensure
good establishment and good foundations to give the crop the best chance of
producing good quality, high yield vegetable crop.
In a natural environment temperature is always changing, sometimes not for the
better, but in an indoor hydroponic system this can be controlled. Temperature is
very important when growing cucumbers as they love heat, this can have a huge
impact on the quality and total yield of the crop. Being indoors really helps decrease
the amount of bacteria, viruses, parasites and fungi as rainfall is unable to

The Friar and the Pardoner The Canterbury Tales, retold by Geraldine
McCaughrean, is composed of many stories told by different characters on the
road to Canterbury. On their pilgrimage, each of the characters tells a different
story in a contest to win a free dinner when they get to Canterbury. Many of the
tales have similar morals, but the tellers are very different, such as the tales of the
Friar and the Pardoner. Though both of these tales have a similar plot and can be
interpreted in a similar way, their tellers are significantly different. Although the
Friar and the Pardoner are very different people, they both have a similarly
structured story, using a symbolic demons as the antagonist, and with very similar
plotlines. In the Pardoner s Tale, three unintelligent men want to find and murder
someone named Death who is killing many people. The three men stumble upon a
pot of gold, which happens to be Death s pot of gold. They all split the money in
the pot and become rich. While one of the three leaves to buy wine to celebrate
their fortune, the two guarding the gold become greedy and plot to kill the other
so they can keep his gold. However, the one who left had a similar idea, and poisons
the wine he brings to dinner. That night, the two who guarded the gold kill the other
one, but then drink the poisoned wine to celebrate. They all die, and Death takes
back his gold. In the Friar s Tale, a Summoner meets up

Analysis Of O Pioneers By Willa Cather
O Pioneers by Willa Cather sets itself apart from other novels of its time because of
what its stands for, feminism. It exemplifies women s equality, represented by the
main character, Alexandra, by showing her survival in a male dominated society. She
succeeded in building her female identity and achieved a sense of female attainment
by revolutionizing the wild land and struggling for her equal rights with all that
surrounded her. This paper focuses on the feminist thoughts and the positive attitude
of the image of the strong character Alexandra, who was independent, brave, and
optimistic. A spirit like hers, of strength and courage, insisted that she would never be

After Alexandra s father, John Bergeson became sick he knew that she would have
to be the one in charge of their land. His two older sons were hard workers but
knew nothing in comparison to Alexandra when it came down to the logistics of
the farm. John even stated the boys were not as half intelligent as their sister
(Cather, 1987, p. 76). John s dying wishes were to keep the land going and to never
leave even when times were tough and that is exactly what Alexandra did. By
leaving Alexandra in charge of the land Cather is showing her beliefs that women
are beyond capable of being in charge and making decisions without men. She built
her own empire by turning the untamed land into prosperous country side and she
became one of the most successful farmers on the divide even after a long sixteen
year struggle. Alexandra dealt with criticism not only from other farmers but even
from her own brother s. Lou turned to his brother. This is what comes of letting a
woman meddle in business, he said bitterly. We ought to have taken things in our
own hands years ago. But she liked to run things, and we humored her (Cather). She
only wanted the best for their family and to respect her father s wishes but her own
brother s doubted her time and time again. Even though she did not have full support
of her family she knew that she was going to stay on their land and that they would
eventually begin to prosper again.

While writing stories it is importing to keep in mind that readers should be able to
picture the story in their mind while reading. It is best to use effective ways to
explain or describe the point; such as, wording and writing format, in order to grab
reader s attention and interest them.
Referring to the readings The secret of Walter Mitty written by James Thurber, and
Bartleby the scrivener written by Melville, both have been written in a great
effective way for readers to use their imagery and develop the ideas of what the story
is about. Providing that, both stories have described the character and setting with
enough details to be effective imagery for readers.
Understanding the story and the main characters requires a suitable description of
characteristic and personality of people in the story. Therefore, both stories have
introduced the characters with a brief description to leave a picture of the
characters in readers head. In reading The secret of Walter Mitty, Walter Mitty has
been described as a middle age man who has trouble handling mechanical tasks,
forgets mostly everything easily, and someone who is a daydreamer. This
description of Walter Mitty gives readers a picture of a man who may not be able
to work very well and may not have a strong memory. But, daydreams of having
great times to forget and not to worry about his sad moments and his disability.

Loggerhead Sea Turtles: Effects of climate change on the population of sea turtles.
Abstract
The effects of climate change and global warming have severe effects on
loggerhead sea turtles and various other marine mammals. The rate of climate
change goes far beyond the abilities of animals to adapt to these drastic changes
taking place around them in their habitats. These changes are predicted to cause an
extinction of many species over the next few decades. (SEE Turtles, 2015) The sea
level rises from melting glaciers, and ice caps are already resulting in the loss of
nesting grounds of these loggerhead turtles. Extreme weather that is also linked to

(Feldman et al. 2015) This in turn not only affects the temperatures on land, but also
the oceans that are home to many cetaceans (i.e. Dolphins and whales) as well as
other marine life such as seals, and turtles. Climate change is an issue that is linked to
human influences.
The loggerhead sea turtle is an endangered species exposed to many anthropogenic
hazards in the Pacific. It is believed that pelagic longline fisheries pose one of the
major risks for these loggerheads but the effects such as humanВinduced global
climate change have rarely been considered. (Chaloupka, Kamezaki Limpus, 2008)
The effects of climate change have enormous impacts on sea turtles. One of them
being that the rise in sea level will disrupt turtle nesting beaches. Sea turtles usually

direct impacts of polar caps melting, and sea levels rising, these beaches that were

more than 80 employees were exposed to live anthrax pathogens, putting their lives in
potential danger. In addition, two strains of flu were accidentally cross contaminated

A Ziploc bag does not contain special protective properties that would prevent the
exposure of a worker to this live pathogen that could severely harm them. On both
accounts, the CDC failed to obey the proper protocol. In addition to the anthrax
being transported in an unsafe manner, the bags in which this material was stored
were said to be mislabeled. The anthrax spores were labeled as inactive, when in
reality this was not the case. Under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety
Act, Ontario Regulation Reg. 860: Workplace Hazardous Materials Information

product in a workplace shall ensure that every worker who works with or who may
be exposed in the course of his or her work to the hazardous product is informed
about all hazard information of which the employer is or ought to be aware
concerning the hazardous product and its use, storage and handling. This
mislabeling violates this section due to the fact that the workers were misled,
thinking the anthrax was inactive. Live anthrax is not only a very harmful pathogen
if one is exposed to it, but can be fatal if left untreated. Due to the fact that the
Ziploc bag was not even labelled correctly, the workers may not have been aware of
the potential exposure they had and thus put their lives at risk unknowingly. The
second incident, in which the second lab s operations were halted, came as a result of

Animalism In Animal Farm
Premiering in cinemas near you, Animal Farm , the new Political Satire revolving
around concepts placed during The Russian Communist Revolution, is highlighted
and explored in a comical way through the use of animalism (giving humans animal
characteristics). Staring Sasha Boren Cohen, based of the original film the dictator is
explored with a comical atmosphere, to inform as well as entertain.
The Novel Animal farm portrays Napoleon as a strong individual who rises to
power through the use of propaganda and manipulation. He is depicted as a god to
the other animals and their key to rise from the oppression of starvation, and over
working conditions bestowed upon them in the farm. As a result of this the irony
depicted in the novel foreshadows how the animals put trust in an individual who
promised them a break free from the chains of slavery however as a result of this,
Napoleon slowly became more like the people who he promised to rid, thus resulting
in the animals developing human characteristics such as walking on two legs etc.
Napoleon is the salient image in the poster the reasoning behind his human like
characteristics e.g. facial hair, is to highlight how he ongoingly adopted human traits
as a result of his pig like attitudes towards the other members of the farm. His selfish
motives resulted in Napoleon becoming more like a human than any of the other
animals.
Napoleon is the only animal shown in the poster to be coloured and not
silhouetted, this is to reveal and accentuate how the animals of the farm have been
left in the shadows of Napoleon and his hidden agendas, whilst he sits in the light
isolating himself from any of the others. He enforces regulations and motives
through Squealer the tool of propaganda. The animals being left in the shadows,
encompasses and strengthens the ideals of a dictatorship. Napoleon outlines all of
the ideals of a dictator, he isolates himself and gets his superiors to speak on his
behalf, he inflicts and enforces fear into his own people, twists their minds, and he
uses his own peoples working labour, and produce for his own benefits and the
benefit for the higher class ( The pigs, dogs).

As observed by the Journal of American College Health and Rivero, E.M. et al
(2014), 90% of all individuals who die by suicide ... have a diagnosable psychiatric
condition ... [and] although approximately 1,100 college students die by suicide each
year, fewer than 20% of students ... were receiving mental health treatment. The
journal goes on to state that those who were receiving professional treatment were
less likely to attempt suicide, along with the students who had a strong support
group of family and friends. By implementing a program designed to intervene and
provide aid before a suicide attempt can be made, the hopes of a positive outcome
and may increase the amount of students who succeed and graduate from college.
It will be my duty to further examine the 2014 research done by Rivero, E.M. and
associates in order to dissect the academic process of sociological research. In doing
so, it will inadvertently be discovered how to recognize bias and know the importance
of ethical guidelines when doing sociological research. At the conclusion of this
report, the scientific method, its importance, and why using multiple reliable sources
is important for any credible report will also be understood. Furthermore, this report
will explain the different kinds of research methodology.
For this study, the sociologists made suicide the center of their research. But suicide,
being too broad of a topic was narrowed down to the impact of early intervention on
the rates of suicide

Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Essay
Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, one of the most common liver disorders, can
have several causes, such as congenital, pharmaceutical, or other miscellaneous
sources, but the most clinically important etiology is metabolic disorder. Metabolic
Disorder, also known as syndrome X, is a collection of symptoms that occur in
clusters, and cause a patient to have a higher risk of heart disease, stroke, and
diabetes. Metabolic syndrome has several hallmark signs. Many of these conditions
can occur alone, or secondary to another condition and do not individually point to
metabolic syndrome. These characteristic signs are a large waist circumference, high
triglyceride levels, reduced HDL cholesterol, increased blood pressure, and elevated
fasting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The basic mechanism of steatosis is that insulin resistance causes increased lipid
deposition in the hepatocytes of the liver. This abnormal amount of fat causes cell
death. When a hepatocyte undergoes lysis, liver enzymes such as
aminotransferases are released. This elevation of liver enzymes in the
bloodstream is a major sign of steatosis since most patients are asymptomatic at this
stage. It is important, however, to rule out the many causes of cell death that
would have the same presentation. As discussed in the research by Birkenfeld, the
accumulation of fatty deposits decreases the metabolic capacity of the liver, and
causes inflammation of the hepatic tissue, causing hepatomegaly. This deposit of
triglycerides in the liver instead of the adipose tissue is thought to be caused by
altered levels of cellular products involved in the uptake of fatty acids. While the
concentrations of enzyme lipoprotein lipase, fatty acid transport proteins, and FAT
/CD36 are typically high enough in the muscle to cause lipid uptake into adipose
tissue, it is inhibited in insulin resistant NAFLD patients. Insulin plays a key role in
the action of lipoprotein lipase. Without insulin the normal uptake of lipids to
adipose decreases, and their uptake in the liver increases. This is shown by the
disproportionally high level of lipoprotein lipase, fatty acid transport proteins, and
FAT/CD36 in the liver to the bodily adipose tissue. (3) Steatosis is the first stage of

The Significant Causes For The Fall Of The Weimar
Republic
A significant cause of the fall of the Weimar Republic was the political instability
and weakness of the government. The negative response to the government started
from its very inception in 1919 when the monarchy of Kaiser Wilhelm II was
replaced with a democratic Republic. Many Germans did not welcome this change
to democracy and did not like the new parliamentary government, preferring to have
one strong leader rather than an elected President, Chancellor and Reichstag. The
government was also associated with the surrender of the Allies in World War 1 and
was criticized for accepting the terms of the Treaty of Versailleswhich was one of the
most important treaties which to end the war in peace. This was an action that many
Germans believed to be unfaithful. The Treaty of Versailles was harsh on Germany,
and politicians were termed to the November criminals for their actions. After World
War 1 the stab in the back myth plagued the Republic throughout its existence. Many
Germans had not forgotten or forgiven the November Criminals and wanted the
Treaty overturned. This is where the extremist parties waited for an opportunity to
attack the Weimar Government. The weak Constitution was also a weakness within
the government, Proportional Representation. This meant that it was hard for ant
political party to ever have a majority in the Reichstag. The government had to be
made up of different parties (coalition governments). The republic was usually
governed by coalitions
The Reality of Married Life
THE REALITY OF MARRIED LIFE
John J. Robinson in his book Of Suchness gives the following advice on love, sex
and married life. Be careful and discreet; it is much easier to get married than
unmarried. If you have the right mate, it s heavenly; but if not, you live in a twenty
four hour daily hell that clings constantly to you, it can be one of the bitterest things
in life. Life is indeed strange. Somehow, when you find the right one, you know it
in your heart. It is not just an infatuation of the moment. But the powerful urges of
sex drive a young person headlong into blind acts and one cannot trust his feelings
too much. This is especially true if one drinks and get befuddled; the lousiest slut in
a dark bar can look like a Venus... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, much to the disappointment of both parties, the proverbial veil that had so far
been concealing the innermost feelings of each partner is removed to expose the true
nature of both partners. It is then that disillusion sets in.
Material Needs
Love by itself does not subsist on fresh air and sunshine alone. The present world is
a materialistic world and in order to meet your material needs, proper financing and
budgeting is essential. Without it, no family can live comfortably. Such a situation
aptly bears out the saying that when poverty knocks at the door, love flies through
the window . This does not mean that one must be rich to make a marriage work.
However, if one has the bare necessities of life provided through a secure job and
careful planning, many unnecessary anxieties can be removed from a marriage.
The discomfort of poverty can be averted if there is complete understanding between
the couple. Both partners must understand the value of contentment. Both must treat
all problems as our problems and share all the ups and downs in the true spirit of a
long standing life partnership.
A feeling of security and contentment comes from mutual understanding which is the

Treatments The treatment depends on the cause of having shortness of breath. So
once the cause of dyspnea is determined, it can be treated by specialists that are
most suitable for the condition. The first test that the doctor will likely perform
after looking into the cause of dyspnea is a pulse oximeter, which is a small device
that will be placed over your finger to evaluate the amount of oxygen in your blood.
Many patients also feel better by changing their body positions such as sitting up,
rather than lying down or having a family member at the bedside can also be very
helpful comforting them. The doctor will definitely prescribe some medications such
as antibiotics that may help in cases of bacterial pneumonia, anti anxiety medications
that treats with anxiety or panic attacks, and other commonly used drugs that includes
bronchodilators to widen the bronchial tubes, and diuretics that removes excess fluid
from the body and steroids to reduce
Humorous Best Man Speech Essay
Humorous Best Man Speech
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. Firstly on behalf of the bridesmaids, I would
like to thank the groom for his kind words, and may I also say that they have done a
fantastic job today and all of them look absolutely beautiful.
I d also like to say that the bride looks absolutely stunning today as I m sure you will
all agree. Unfortunately for the wedding photographs, the groom just looks stunned.
When I was asked to be best man I consulted the Internet for help. I must confess I
was perplexed by some of the things I was expected to do:
Help the groom dress. Thanks, but no thanks. If he hasn t learned by nor then he
never will.
That his shoes are tied.
That his face and hair are in order (God ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His teenage years can be defined as several years of drinking and sleeping in the
bathroom, cuddled up to the toilet bowl. It s good to know that some thing never

At school, he tried many sports to no avail. When he tried rugby he was told his
tackle was not big enough. He tried cross country running but could not stand the
pace and when it came to soccer he was useless in every position. Whether the bride
can confirm those three things for us I dont know, but I hope she has more luck.
Now, of course, I m not the only person in this room that he knows well. In fact,
this place is stuffed with people that have an opinion of him. So, I thought it would
be an idea to find out what some of you think of the groom. and share your thoughts
at his wedding. Over the last few weeks I ve been approaching his friends and
colleagues. This is what just a few of you said. His boss (and I can quote him now as
he s not here) said: Working with him is like working with a God. He s rarely seen,
he s holier than thou, and if he does any work it s a bloody miracle...
Another absent colleague, rang me the other day and said: He s really looking

The J. Paul Getty Museum
For this essay, we were required to go to the Getty Villa in Malibu and look for
specific works of art in the J. Paul Getty Museum. The Getty Villa is on a hill
adjacent to Malibu beach and requires a reservation to get inside. They do not
allow pedestrian entrances, so I had to take public transportation and show proof
of my Metro bus receipt to get in. Once inside, I took a shuttle up a curvy hill to the
actual museum. When I got to the actual entrance, I was taken aback by how
beautiful not only the view was, but the Villa was as well. It did not take me long to
find the five artworks. The first work of artwe were required to look at was a grave
stele. There were a collection of them against a wall on the second floor of the Getty
Villa. The one that stuck out the most to me was titled Grave Stele of Herophanta
and Posideos which was dated around 150 B.C. It is a Greek grave stele that was
made in Smyrna, which is what we today call Turkey. The stele was around 4 feet
tall and made out of marble. The back of the stele was not viewable, but the front
had a lot of detail. On the front at the top displays what resembles a triangular
pediment typically seen in Greek temples. Underneath that are two wreath like
objects. In the center, there is a portrait that shows a family consisting of a husband
and wife with two children. The woman is holding a wreath and the two kids are
crowded around the father. Each member of the family is wearing stylized drapery.

How Internet Has Changed Communication And Business
Services
Introduction
The rapid growth of Web has completely changed communication and business
services in such a way accuracy, speed, and availability of network delivered content
have become completely in danger. Internet is expanding every moment that creates
a significant delay making the delivery of any content becomes extremely difficult.
To deal with this problem, proxy servers, also called Web cache, has been deployed in
the internet by providing shared cache location for multiple clients to treat the need
for swift content transmission. Proxy servers practically minimizes delivery time
such as requested object exists in a close cache where the cached version has not
expired.
There are three essential purposes of Web caching. First, the response time for a
client request can be considerably decreased by a Web cache, specifically when the
bottleneck bandwidth between the origin server and the client is much less than the
bottleneck bandwidth between the cache and the client. For instance, if the requested
object is available in the cache, and we have a high speed connection between the
client and the cache, then the object will be delivered immediately to the client.
Second, traffic on an institution s access link to the Internet can be considerably
reduced by Web caches. This is significantly important because it will minimize the
chance of upgrading bandwidth and reducing costs. Furthermore, Web caches can
considerably decrease Web traffic in the Internet as a whole
Polk County Health Improvement Plan Essay
Polk County Health Improvement Plan The surrounding and available resources in a
community are what influence the health of its residents. Health status will not
improve if a community does not have access to resources that will encourage
healthy living. In order to increase the health of a community it is important to
provide the environment to support a healthy lifestyle, such as having easy access to
healthy food and exercise. Obesity is a major population healthissue in Polk County
along with the remainder of the United States, which can be directly affected by
physical inactivity and eating an unhealthy diet. The implementation of a preventative
health improvement plan will help to provide greater access to healthy foods and
exercise to assist in decreasing the obese population in Polk County. Increasing the
available resources in Polk County that encourage healthy eating and exercise will
greatly reduce the prevalence of obesity and allow for a healthier community.
Background and Purpose
History of Polk County Polk County is labeled as one of the unhealthiest counties in
the State of Florida, ranking 38 out of 67 counties (University of Wisconsin
Population Health Institute [UWPHI], 2016). Ranking 38 out of 67 counties does not
seem terrible until learning that Polk County houses a population of nearly 650,092
residents, and is one of the top ten largest counties in the State of Florida (United
States Census Bureau, July 2015). Amongst the numerous health

Assistance with the current macro cell is required to power the small cells and
coordinate with internet and radio backhaul and maintaining the Quality of
Service (QOS) in the process [1]. Figure 1 LTE deployment in small cells Why
small cells? Small cells are beneficial in terms of the following aspects:
1)Coverage: Adding capacity to high traffic areas and extend coverage to hard to
reach locations and indoor sites. 2)Capacity: Enhancing localized coverage 3)Data
offloading: Providing robust 4G LTE coverage to customers in challenging
coverage areas Small cells mainly consist of the femtocells, picocells, and
microcells. The network can also be known by distributed radio technology which
consists of centralized baseband units and remote radio heads.
Beamformingtechnology (focusing a radio signal on a very specific area) can be
utilized to further enhance or focus small cell coverage . The common factor
binding all of these technologies is that all are centrally managed. [13] The range
of small is from 10 meters within urban and in building locations to 2 km for a
rural location. Picocells and microcells can also have a range of a few hundred
meters to a few kilometres, but femto cells do not have the self arranging capability.
[13] There is need for backhaul to connect the small cells to the core network, internet
Jonathan Spence s The Death Of Woman Wang
Chinese women have historically retained highly circumscribed roles and statuses
that rendered them inferior to their male corollaries. The gender status quo was
predicated on a definition of gender as a cultural construct that is performed rather
than rooted in biology. Throughout Chinese history, the women s role in the family
was paramount as conceptualized by the concept of Yin and Yang. While men are
associated with Yang, the darker and robust force, while Yin represented the cooler
and passive femaleforce. As such, the Chinese ascribed to the separate spheres
ideology which relegated women to the private sphere within the home while the
public sphere was a male preserve. Jonathan Spence s The Death of WomanWang

As mentioned previously, Hsi li, the triumphant heroine in P u Sung ling s fantasy, is
expounded on prior to an exhortation about the tragedy of Woman P eng. Ultimately,
this fictitious story reveals how the intersectionality of class and gender
unequivocally shaped the quotidian experiences while also dictating how women
comported themselves. Huang Liu hung grappled with adjudicating the Wang
family whom was viewed as aberrant and outlaws according to cultural and social
mores in imperial China. This episode paves the way for a meaningful discussion
about the plight of women in traditional Chinese society. The sordid death of
Woman Wang at the conclusion of the book is emblematic of how crippled women
were in imperial China due to their perceived inferiority and lack of agency in the

Transformations and Political Events in the Era of Abdul...
Abdul Hamid II ( 34th Ottoman Sultan) ascended to throne in the year of 1876 after
his older brother Murat V s deposition because of his mental problems. Abdul Hamid
II was the Ottoman sultan for 33 years until he was moved away from the throne with
the event of 31 March. During his regency he tried to strengthen the autocracy in the
Ottoman Empire. Some historians claim that his moves made the Ottoman Empire
last longer about 30 years.
As the Abdul Hamid became sultan Ottoman Empire was in hard conditions.
Ottoman economy was getting worse though in 1875 the state came into a situation
which it couldn t pay the debts. There was some national riots in the Balkan region

Sultan could still remove ministers from office or assign new ones as he like.
According to the constitution Abdul Hamid II had the right to close the parliament
or call a new election anytime he want. Also he had authority to send a person to
exile according to a police investigation. Abdul Hamid used this authority according
to the constitution and sent Mithad Pasha to exile even before the parliament
gathered. In 1877 a war broke out between Ottoman Empire and Russia. Abdul
Hamid used the war as an excuse and disbanded the parliament. Hereafter he didn t
call the parliament for a meeting for 30 years. With this maneuver he had the absolute
control of Ottoman Empire nearly 30 years. After that he closed the parliament he
established a police organization for the first time in the Ottoman Empire. In 1880 he
established the YД±ldД±z Intelligence Organization ( YД±ldД±z Д°stihbarat
TeЕџkilatД± in Turkish) which will help him to prevent the movements against him.
Against Abdul Hamid s centralist rule, the opposition was growing. In 1889 the
Committee of Union and Progress (Д°ttihat ve Terakki Cemiyeti) was established.
Some supporters of this committee started riots in Rumelia. After these incidents
Abdul Hamid had to put the constitution into operation again and constitutional
monarchy was declared for the second time. A new parliament was put together in
1908 with the elections. The era between 1908 and the closedown of
Cell Phones Are Ordinary Today
Cell phones are ordinary today. Very nearly everybody has one. My grandma
conveys an iPhone and my dad a man who once swore he d never convey a
telephone with him anyplace slaps a Samsung Galaxy S III with an OtterBox case
on his hip each morning. It wasn t generally so. I was the main individual at my
secondary school educators and organization included with a cell phone. To start
with, I had the Moto Q, then the BlackBerry Pearl 8130, trailed by the Curve 8330.
Furthermore, that is the place my story started, in 2006, taking lesson notes (read:
playing Brick Breaker and Asteroids) on an incredible QWERTY console about a
large portion of the palm s extent of my hand. Trust it or not, cell phone history
backtracks over 10 years before that. Things were ... intriguing in those days. In the
first place, what is a cell phone? Turns out, the real definition, regardless of the
source, is very ambiguous. Merriam Webster compactly calls a cell phone a PDA
that incorporates extra programming capacities (as email or an Internet program).
Oxford Dictionaries, then again, gets somewhat more exact by saying a cell phone
has the capacity perform a hefty portion of the elements of a PC, commonly having
a moderately expansive screen and a working framework equipped for running
universally useful applications. In any case, there is an almost negligible difference
between what is and isn t a cell phone nowadays, regardless of the fact that the

Diabetic Foot Problems
What are Diabetic Foot Problems and why do they occur? Foot problems are a big
risk in diabetics therefore diabetic patients must constantly monitor their feet or
face severe consequences, including amputation. With a diabetic foot, a wound as
small as a blister from wearing a shoe that s too tight can cause a lot of damage.
Because diabetes decreases blood flow, injuries are slow to heal as new blood often
doesn t flow freely to the injury. When wounds do not heal in a timely fashion, they
are at risk for infection meaning that infections in the feet of diabetic patients spread
quickly. If you have diabetes, you should inspect your feet every day. Look for
puncture wounds, bruises, pressure areas, redness, warmth, blisters, ulcers, scratches,

Examples Of Lorenz Curve Lorenze Curve The Lorenz curve originated from the early part of the twentiteth century when Max Otto Lorenz published a paper in 1905 in an American statistical journal outlining the technique which was to bear his name. However, it was the work on poverty and income inequality by Sir Tony Atkinson during the 1970s that led to the popular dissemination and development of the original work of Lorenz. The Lorenz curve can be explained as an extension of the ogive that is used in economics to show the distribution of income or wealth among the population. It is a grapgh of cumulative percentage wealth, income or some other measure of wealth , against cumulative percentage of population. For instance, we can use this curve to determine the fairness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The standard framework will be developed in four stages. First, we convert the wealth into percentages and accumulate them to get the cumulative percentage of wealth. We also convert the population also into percentages and accumulate them to get the cumulative percentage of population. You can skip this step if all these have been provided with the question. Next, we draw a set of Axis in which the cumulative percentage of wealth is measured along the Y axis while the cumulative percentage of household is measured along the X axis. Usually the graph s axes are closed off to from a box. We then assume that we live in a truly equal society. If this were the case, the relationship will be such that as we move along the x axis, each 10 percent of household would own additional 10 percent of wealth. In this case, the line we would be a straight line emanating from the origin Point (0,0) to Point (100,100). This line is known as the line of absolute equality. Finally, Plot the cumulative percentage of population against cumulative percentage of wealth. In this case, the line will bow away from the line of absolute equality. The more unequal the society is, the further it will deviate away from the line of absolute

The curious armadillo may be small, but losing a part of it meant something important is lost in Johnny and Owen s childhood. Before the death of Tabitha s, Johnny allows Owen to borrow the armadillo, but afterward, Owen unexpectedly returns the armadillo without claws. As Dan says, We ve lost a part of ourselves (86). Johnny and Owen lose the innocence of children and the positive and humorous attitude toward matters around them. Also their relationship as friends becomes a bit pull apart. To Owen, the claws are a way to express his belief: GOD HAS TAKEN YOUR MOTHER. MY HANDS WERE THE INSTRUMENT. GOD HAS TAKEN MY HANDS. I AM GOD S INSTRUMENT (87). Despite the fact that Owen may be used by God, Owen takes off the arms of the armadillo to show that he s sorry and that he will never be

George Gershwin s most successful piece of expansive musical drama was subtitled with this term that no musician or critic had applied to a work of musical drama before the 1935 premiere of Porgy and Bess. Much has been written about the work s subtitle; its literal meaning, its evolution, and its implications for a changing cultural landscape. Porgy and Besswas the last in a triptych of literature and theater surrounding the character of Porgy, a crippled beggar living in Charleston s semi fictitious Catfish Row. Bartok s Ten Easy Pieces for piano were heavily influenced by folk melody [that was] a kind of inspirational motto to be developed. Gershwin understood there to be a need for a truly American voice in music, comparable to those of the great nationalist European composers, recognizing that The only kinds of music which endure are those which possess form in the universal sense and folk music. All else dies. Similar to Dvorak in his ninth symphony, the idiom that Gershwin employed for his opera was that of the Negro spiritual and folk song. Before composing Porgy and Bess, Gershwin made a trek down to Charleston, South Carolina and some of its outlying island communities with the purpose of studying rural African American culture. It was there that he became immersed in the music of that community and it was there that he garnered his inspiration for the opera s score. Again harkening to the traditions of the European masters, Gershwin decided against the note for note transcription of the songs he had heard, but rather used them as inspiration for a continuous musical narrative of folk inspired themes. Thus, we arrive at the term folk opera. Gershwin s use of African American folk material in the composition of an opera gave rise to the literal terminology

In a peer reviewed article in EHS Today, Sandy Smith reports that teens aged fourteen to seventeen, think they will not get into a car crash while texting versus drinking and driving (Smith). Smith also states: In a 2008 study by the United Kingdom s Transport Research Laboratory, reaction time of drivers 17 24 years of age was reduced by 35 percent when typing a text message, compared with 12 percent when driving after consuming alcohol to the legal limit. This study found that the impairments associated with talking on a cell phone can be as profound as those associated with driving while intoxicated during those times when drivers are directly engaged in cell phone use. • 12. The Rings of Saturn by W.G. Sebald W.G. Sebald s novel The Rings of Saturn explores the relationship between toleration and persecution through a first person narrative. The novel is preoccupied with loss and the ways we have tried to come to terms with mortality. It is a meditation on the destructive nature of history, the human lives affected, and the restorative power of art. However, his work is not simply a record of these humaninduced catastrophes, but also attempts to fashion new representational tools for the purpose of acknowledging and coming to terms with the realities of modern human history. Sebald s critcism tends to focus on the biographical and psychological backgrounds of the writers he mentions. He draws heavily on the canon of twentieth century Marxist thought, including works from Theodor Adorno and Max Horkheimer. His complex thesis draws specifically on their work The Dialectic of Enlightenment. The Enlightenment was an intellectual movement that spread through Europe during the eighteenth century, which involved a radical change in the way that philosophers and others understood the role of reason. It valued independent thought and promoted reason to a higher status and for some came to replace faith. Intrinsic in Sebald s work is the idea that the Enlightenment project was programmed by violent distrusts of the non identical and a coercive desire to eliminate otherness. Specifically, Sebald draws on Horkheimer and Adorno s critique of civilization articulated in The Dialectic of the

When you are devising or revising your bookkeeping routine, remember that the purpose of bookkeeping is to help you manage your business and to enable tax agencies to evaluate your business activity. Inventory Records Keeping on top of your inventory records will enable you to prevent pilferage, keep inventory holdings to a minimum, and track buying trends, among other things. If you sell a large number of small ticket items for example, as in a stationary store you might want to use a computer system to track inventory or tie your computer system into your sales by having a POS (point of sale) inventory system. If you sell larger ticket items you may be able to do it yourself on paper. The crucial inventory information you need to capture is: date purchased, stock number of item purchased, purchase price, date sold, and sale price. Accounts Receivable If your products or services are paid for at time of delivery, you will not need an accounts receivable tracking system. However, if you provide services or products for which people pay you at a later date, your accounts receivable records keep track of what is owed to you. You can monitor accounts receivable by holding on to a copy of all invoices sent out or by keeping an accounts receivable record. Either way, the information you need to capture includes: invoice date,
  • 15. Television Programs Can Support And Facilitate Language... For many years, parents have relied on using educational programs to teach and engage their children with new concepts and materials. Conversely, many children have also used television as an opportunity for learning and language development. For example, the rise of television programs like Elmo Street and Teletubbies demonstrates this upward trend of substituting media sources for teaching and learning. However, despite the increasing support from parents toward television programs, many researchers have mixed reviews on putting our children into viewing long hours of what they considered unnecessary learning. Thus in what follows of this paper, I will focus on explaining how television programs can support and facilitate language development. Moreover, I will also discuss the mixed literacy support for using television as a learning tool and finally, I will conduct a study that measures, specifically, the relationship between watching educational TV and learning novel words. Hopefully, with these measures, I will be able to find supporting evidence that proves educational TV can be a good predictor for word learning. Through the years, one continuous point of debate has been whether educational TV can facilitate and improve word learning in children. Many studies on this debate have found distinct and mixed research outcomes. For example, one study has been Mabel s Rice Word from Sesame Street, in which he found mixed supporting evidence that television programs can

This was evidenced by significant elevation in kidney MDA content. These results match the increase in lipid peroxidation post irradiation obtained by Srinivasan et al. (2007) and Pratheeshkumar and kuttan (2011). Free radicals generated by irradiation react with unsaturated lipids generating hydroperoxides, which in turn can induce changes in lipid bilayer thereby altering the membrane permeability and inducing lipid peroxidation (Suzuki et al. 1997). Also, significant elevation of kidney GSH contents were observed in irradiated rats. This increase in GSH level may be due to transcriptional... In addition, the increment in serum urea level which is the major end product of protein catabolism may be also due to excess degradation of protein post irradiation (Moulder et al. 2002). Results of the present study also showed that whole body gamma irradiation at 6.5Gy evoked a sharp increase in glucose level and decrease in Mg kidney content. Hyperglycemia has been found post irradiation due to minimized utilization of glucose by injured tissues as well as acceleration of gluconeogenesis which is indirect result of irradiation (Abdel Salam et al. 2006). The hypomagnesaemia may be due to insufficient renal function or excess release through damaged cells post irradiation (Kotb et al. 1990). Lipid metabolism abnormalities, is a characteristic consequence of renal insufficiency (Trevisan et al. 2006). Therefore, South Africa, like all other developing countries has not been allocated specific targets to commit to under the protocol. At the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP) negotiations that took place in Copenhagen in 2009 (UNFCC, 2009), South Africa took the responsibility to carry out mitigation actions to reduce their emissions 34% by the year 2020, and 42% by the year 2025, below the business as usual trajectory (Voster, Winkler and Meagan, 2011 p.243). However, this pledge is subject to the provision and assistance of adequate, capacity building, financial and technological support from other developed countries. (Feldman et al. 2015) This in turn not only affects the temperatures on land, but also the oceans that are home to many cetaceans (i.e. Dolphins and whales) as well as other marine life such as seals, and turtles. Climate change is an issue that is linked to human influences. The loggerhead sea turtle is an endangered species exposed to many anthropogenic hazards in the Pacific. It is believed that pelagic longline fisheries pose one of the major risks for these loggerheads but the effects such as humanВinduced global climate change have rarely been considered. (Chaloupka, Kamezaki Limpus, 2008) The effects of climate change have enormous impacts on sea turtles. One of them being that the rise in sea level will disrupt turtle nesting beaches. Sea turtles usually return to the same site where they hatch to repeat their ancient nesting ritual. These direct impacts of polar caps melting, and sea levels rising, these beaches that were once nesting grounds are starting to disappear completely. Two Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) labs were found to be guilty of mishandling biohazardous material, and negligent to following proper safety regulations surrounding the handling of biohazardous material. The result of this was more than 80 employees were exposed to live anthrax pathogens, putting their lives in potential danger. In addition, two strains of flu were accidentally cross contaminated and shipped to another lab, risking the lives of those at the lab who handled it. The U.S. Department of Agriculture conducted the investigations and work was seized immediately in both labs. The specifics surrounding the incident included dangerous ... On both accounts, the CDC failed to obey the proper protocol. In addition to the anthrax being transported in an unsafe manner, the bags in which this material was stored were said to be mislabeled. The anthrax spores were labeled as inactive, when in reality this was not the case. Under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, Ontario Regulation Reg. 860: Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), section 6(2): (2) An employer who produces a hazardous product in a workplace shall ensure that every worker who works with or who may be exposed in the course of his or her work to the hazardous product is informed about all hazard information of which the employer is or ought to be aware concerning the hazardous product and its use, storage and handling. This mislabeling violates this section due to the fact that the workers were misled, thinking the anthrax was inactive. Live anthrax is not only a very harmful pathogen if one is exposed to it, but can be fatal if left untreated. Due to the fact that the Ziploc bag was not even labelled correctly, the workers may not have been aware of the potential exposure they had and thus put their lives at risk unknowingly. The second incident, in which the second lab s operations were halted, came as a result of similar circumstances as

Animalism In Animal Farm Premiering in cinemas near you, Animal Farm , the new Political Satire revolving around concepts placed during The Russian Communist Revolution, is highlighted and explored in a comical way through the use of animalism (giving humans animal characteristics). Staring Sasha Boren Cohen, based of the original film the dictator is explored with a comical atmosphere, to inform as well as entertain. The Novel Animal farm portrays Napoleon as a strong individual who rises to power through the use of propaganda and manipulation. He is depicted as a god to the other animals and their key to rise from the oppression of starvation, and over working conditions bestowed upon them in the farm. As a result of this the irony depicted in the novel foreshadows how the animals put trust in an individual who promised them a break free from the chains of slavery however as a result of this, Napoleon slowly became more like the people who he promised to rid, thus resulting in the animals developing human characteristics such as walking on two legs etc. Napoleon is the salient image in the poster the reasoning behind his human like characteristics e.g. facial hair, is to highlight how he ongoingly adopted human traits as a result of his pig like attitudes towards the other members of the farm. His selfish motives resulted in Napoleon becoming more like a human than any of the other animals. Napoleon is the only animal shown in the poster to be coloured and not silhouetted, this is to reveal and accentuate how the animals of the farm have been left in the shadows of Napoleon and his hidden agendas, whilst he sits in the light isolating himself from any of the others. He enforces regulations and motives through Squealer the tool of propaganda. The animals being left in the shadows, encompasses and strengthens the ideals of a dictatorship. Napoleon outlines all of the ideals of a dictator, he isolates himself and gets his superiors to speak on his behalf, he inflicts and enforces fear into his own people, twists their minds, and he uses his own peoples working labour, and produce for his own benefits and the benefit for the higher class ( The pigs, dogs). Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease Essay Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, one of the most common liver disorders, can have several causes, such as congenital, pharmaceutical, or other miscellaneous sources, but the most clinically important etiology is metabolic disorder. Metabolic Disorder, also known as syndrome X, is a collection of symptoms that occur in clusters, and cause a patient to have a higher risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Metabolic syndrome has several hallmark signs. Many of these conditions can occur alone, or secondary to another condition and do not individually point to metabolic syndrome. These characteristic signs are a large waist circumference, high triglyceride levels, reduced HDL cholesterol, increased blood pressure, and elevated fasting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The basic mechanism of steatosis is that insulin resistance causes increased lipid deposition in the hepatocytes of the liver. This abnormal amount of fat causes cell death. When a hepatocyte undergoes lysis, liver enzymes such as aminotransferases are released. This elevation of liver enzymes in the bloodstream is a major sign of steatosis since most patients are asymptomatic at this stage. It is important, however, to rule out the many causes of cell death that would have the same presentation. As discussed in the research by Birkenfeld, the accumulation of fatty deposits decreases the metabolic capacity of the liver, and causes inflammation of the hepatic tissue, causing hepatomegaly. This deposit of triglycerides in the liver instead of the adipose tissue is thought to be caused by altered levels of cellular products involved in the uptake of fatty acids. While the concentrations of enzyme lipoprotein lipase, fatty acid transport proteins, and FAT /CD36 are typically high enough in the muscle to cause lipid uptake into adipose tissue, it is inhibited in insulin resistant NAFLD patients. Insulin plays a key role in the action of lipoprotein lipase. Without insulin the normal uptake of lipids to adipose decreases, and their uptake in the liver increases. This is shown by the disproportionally high level of lipoprotein lipase, fatty acid transport proteins, and FAT/CD36 in the liver to the bodily adipose tissue. (3) Steatosis is the first stage of NAFLD
  • 43. The Significant Causes For The Fall Of The Weimar Republic A significant cause of the fall of the Weimar Republic was the political instability and weakness of the government. The negative response to the government started from its very inception in 1919 when the monarchy of Kaiser Wilhelm II was replaced with a democratic Republic. Many Germans did not welcome this change to democracy and did not like the new parliamentary government, preferring to have one strong leader rather than an elected President, Chancellor and Reichstag. The government was also associated with the surrender of the Allies in World War 1 and was criticized for accepting the terms of the Treaty of Versailleswhich was one of the most important treaties which to end the war in peace. This was an action that many Germans believed to be unfaithful. The Treaty of Versailles was harsh on Germany, and politicians were termed to the November criminals for their actions. After World War 1 the stab in the back myth plagued the Republic throughout its existence. Many Germans had not forgotten or forgiven the November Criminals and wanted the Treaty overturned. This is where the extremist parties waited for an opportunity to attack the Weimar Government. The weak Constitution was also a weakness within the government, Proportional Representation. This meant that it was hard for ant political party to ever have a majority in the Reichstag. The government had to be made up of different parties (coalition governments). The republic was usually governed by coalitions

The present world is a materialistic world and in order to meet your material needs, proper financing and budgeting is essential. Without it, no family can live comfortably. However, if one has the bare necessities of life provided through a secure job and careful planning, many unnecessary anxieties can be removed from a marriage. The discomfort of poverty can be averted if there is complete understanding between the couple. Both partners must understand the value of contentment. Both must treat all problems as our problems and share all the ups and downs in the true spirit of a long standing life partnership. How Internet Has Changed Communication And Business Services Introduction The rapid growth of Web has completely changed communication and business services in such a way accuracy, speed, and availability of network delivered content have become completely in danger. Internet is expanding every moment that creates a significant delay making the delivery of any content becomes extremely difficult. To deal with this problem, proxy servers, also called Web cache, has been deployed in the internet by providing shared cache location for multiple clients to treat the need for swift content transmission. Proxy servers practically minimizes delivery time such as requested object exists in a close cache where the cached version has not expired. There are three essential purposes of Web caching. First, the response time for a client request can be considerably decreased by a Web cache, specifically when the bottleneck bandwidth between the origin server and the client is much less than the bottleneck bandwidth between the cache and the client. For instance, if the requested object is available in the cache, and we have a high speed connection between the client and the cache, then the object will be delivered immediately to the client. Second, traffic on an institution s access link to the Internet can be considerably reduced by Web caches. This is significantly important because it will minimize the chance of upgrading bandwidth and reducing costs. Furthermore, Web caches can considerably decrease Web traffic in the Internet as a whole

While men are associated with Yang, the darker and robust force, while Yin represented the cooler and passive femaleforce. Foot problems are a big risk in diabetics therefore diabetic patients must constantly monitor their feet or face severe consequences, including amputation.
