Improving Work-Out Using Lomber Machines
Working out using a rowing machine challenges you to give your best effort, gradually building up
resistance while toning muscles. Today s equipment uses the latest in low impact technology, making
exercising an invigorating and safe part of the weekly routine. Different machines have different
features; some use water resistance, and others have magnetic brakes. These rowing machines have a
variety of programs, mimicking outdoor courses that push you past your limits. Finding the right make
and model is essential; your workout style and fitness goals depend on having the right equipment.
Ideally, you want a machine that gives your entire body a full workout, one that has settings for
comfort as well as endurance training. One of the main features that changes depending on the model
and brand of rowing machines is the type of resistance. High end models use water, others use
magnets, some use air, and many use hydraulics. While the principles behind the workout remain the
same, different muscles are put under pressure depending on the type of resistance. ... Show more

Each machine I list has its pros and cons; some are designed for endurance training, and others are
made for those who want a light workout before work. A final consideration when shopping for
rowing machines is where you are going to use the equipment. Some that use magnets or air for
resistance are easily folded up and stored after use, but those that have a water tank need a permanent
space. I ve narrowed down my research to one top contender and three runners up. The following
rowing machines are the best on the market, giving you a workout that leaves you refreshed and ready

The Australia-Japan Partnership
The Australia Japan partnership is one of Australia s strongest and most mature international trade
relationships. The success and strength of the partnership can be attributed to the commonly held
values of both countries, including a commitment to democracy, human rights and the rule of law,
along with similar approaches to international security. Japan forms Australia s second largest export
market and third largest source of foreign investment. Australia is a critical supplier to Japan of clean
and safe food products as well as minerals and energy. Trade relations between the two nations were
recently given legal recognition and force with the ratification of the Japan Australia Economic
Partnership Agreement (Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, 2014). 1. Population and
demographics Japan has a significantly higher population density in comparison to Australia. Japan s
population is an estimated 126.66 million people. The population is estimated to be 126.66 million
people, which decreased at about 0.89% from the last record of population (World Population
Statistics, 2013). The majority of Japan s population is comprised of the Yamoto Japanese ethnicity.
They make up approximately 98.5% of the population, followed by people of Korean ethnicity, and
with some representation from the Chinese and Japanese Indigenous peoples. Japanese is the official
spoken language of the country, with 99% of the population conversant in Japanese. Widely used

Analysis Of Mrs. Turpin In Flannery O Connor s Revelation
Mrs. Turpin in the story Revelation by Flannery O Connor is a very interesting character. Mrs. Turpin
thinks of herself as a righteous Christian. She depicts herself as a respectable and very charitable
person. She views herself as a morally superior person that is going to save come judgement day. Mrs.
Turpin in reality has not one of these qualities, although she promotes herself as women, that is saved
and going to receive an eternal bliss. Instead of having true Christian qualities she is judgmental and a
racist. One is able to view the way Mrs. Turpin racism by looking at the way she judges people on her
ranking system. At the bottom of her ranking system is Blacks and White Trash and above that are
people that are homeowners. Above the homeowners are the people with homes and own land which

Subsistence Agriculture vs. Industrial-Style Animal Farming
Contrast subsistence agriculture and industrial style animal farming. Subsistence farming is the most
basic of farming methods where a small plot of land is cultivated by an individual, a family or a
community just to feed their hungry mouths. All the produce is consumed by the family and not
intended for sale outside. The experts believe that this kind of farming is almost primeval and needs to
change quickly to the industrialized mode all over the world, if abject poverty and famine are to be
eradicated. Several factors have worked against the success of implementation, and they are not only
technology related, but social, educational, economic, and political, as well. Many feminist voices
have however, preferred to support the existing method of subsistence farming for the harmony and
relationship that it fostered among the people, with an argument that human relationships, ecology and
togetherness are more important than wealth (Shiva, 1989). In this perspective, subsistence farming
does not contribute to economic growth or capital accumulation or even labor specialization. Since
funds are limited to buy chemical fertilizers, most produce are organic and genetically modified seeds
are never used here (Roosevelt, 2007, Wright, 2007). You will learn from history that subsistence
farming existed in Southeast Asia, Sub Saharan Africa, South and Central America. Over the years;
take the example of British colonized Kenya. Many subsistence farmers in Kenya where pushed

The History Of Newark
Some of the top historical movements that the United States ever encountered were the following:
civil rights, women s suffrage, gay rights, anti war, labor movement, black power, and occupy wall

comparison to the rest of Newark. Emily Turonis was the young lady who I had the privilege to

The East Ward is surrounded by the airport, the highways, the railroads, and the Passaic River. Having
all these deserted lots, forgotten factories, neglected junk, all this takes a toll on the air, water, and

Introduction
Hate crime is a broad subject to begin with, this leaves it difficult to limit to a single definition. There
is a single official definition for legislation purposes that cover the five strands of hate crime that are
monitored within England and Wales.
...perpetrators of hostility or prejudice against an identifiable group of people is a factor in
determining whois victimised . (Hate Crime Data, no date) furthermore, academics such as
Gernstenfeld (2004) suggest that the focus of hate crime should not necessarily all be on the victim,
but rather the group they are associated with, minority or otherwise (See Chakraborti Garland 2009

violence (See Perry 2001, Page 9), the perpetrator commits a hate crime because they are acting upon
pre existing prejudice beliefs. Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual (LGB) individuals have long been
considered unequal s in society, mainly because up until recent legislation adjustment, allowing gay
marriage; they haven t completely had the same human rights as straight individuals. Not having the
same rights could be an indicator as to why sexual orientation related hate crime is so common.

Creationism Isn t Science but Belongs in Schools Essay
Creationism Isn t Science but Belongs in Schools
The origin of life has been a point of discussion for as long as history has been documented. Ancient
Egyptians believed that the sun god Ra took another form, created land from a watery abyss and
created everything, including gods and humans. The Iroquois, a tribe of Native Americans, told a story
of god to human lineage that resulted in twins, one being evil and one being good. The good twin
creates a picture perfect world. The evil twin reverses the good twin s actions by making things more
complex and difficult for humans. Christians and Jews believe that God, their only god, created the
earth and the heavens in six days, and on the seventh day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He states that the inclusion of creationism would be a startling blow to the fabric of science education.
He goes on to say that the general understanding science students should have is that people can
confront the universe and learn about it directly through scientific testing (520). The theory of
creationism can not be tested using the earth and universe directly, and because of this Eldredge feels
that it would be detrimental to students general understanding of science.
Creationism Isn t Science is the title of this essay and it explains the ideas of this essay in one
sentence; the author, however, takes approximately six pages to reiterate this idea. Eldredge s main
point is simply that creationism isn t a science and evolution is a vital theory in the field of science.
The idea is basic; the theory of evolution is based in science and therefore is to be taught in a science
curriculum. Evolution is the theory that there is one basic scheme of similarities interlocking all of
life. This theory is usually studied in biological fields but is useful in a number of other scientific
fields. By explaining the uses of evolution in some scientific fields, Eldredge makes the point

The Importance Of The English Revolution And The American...
English history played a major role in the American Revolution by introducing new and revolutionary
ideas to the public. Several events, such as the English Revolution and the restoration of the monarchy
also influenced the mindset during the war. The successful overthrow of Charles I and the attempted
establishment of an English republic probably inspired many colonists to fight against King George III
s tyranny. Enlightenment ideals such as social contract and basic rights also influenced the war. The
colonists felt that King George III was violating their right to privacy, assembly, and speech.
Therefore, the colonists had the right to revolt because the government was failing its main purpose
according to social contract. British tax and economic policies such as the Stamp Act, Townshend Act,
Sugar Act, and the Navigation Acts angered colonists. They believed the Parliament had no right to
impose these taxes and laws on them because the colonists weren t represented in government. As a
result, several Sons of Liberty members, disguised as Native Americans, boarded a British cargo ship
and dumped tea into the Boston Harbor as protest. Angered by the act, Parliament passed the
Intolerable Acts (Coercive Acts), punishing the Bostonians for the Boston Tea Party by blockading the
Boston Harbor until restitution was made for the tea. The colonists also resented the Navigation Acts,
which effectively created a British trading monopoly. Cheap items were often highly taxed,

The Major Causes Of The Bosnian Civil War
Since the end of World War Two, no conflict in Europe was as barbarous as the Civil War that took
place in Bosnia, formerly known as Yugoslavia. In 1992, Bosnians officially declared their
independence from Yugoslavia erupting the whole territory into a brutal conflict that left nearly
100,000 dead and 2.2 million displaced people. This disastrous ethnic cleansing involved the breakup
of Yugoslavia into six smaller states including: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia,
and Macedonia. Upon this division of Yugoslavia, the Bosnians and Croats were able to gain
independence from the Serbs through international backing and militaristic strategic advantages from
organizations such as the UN and NATO. The main cause of the Bosnian ... Show more content on

Also, during this time Ethnic Fault Lines were created resulting in stronger violence along these areas.
Reference the attached map of Yugoslavia in the Cited Sources section to view the map of ethnic
majorities within the Yugoslavian region. This is a perfect example of how all the ethnicities were
spread out across the region and not simply contained to one area allowing for the violent ethnic fault
lines. Along with the historical perspective of ethnic tensions causing nationalism in Yugoslavia, new
evidence from historians have shown that the Bosnian Civil War was not a one time deal in the area.
This had been considered a very active region, in the case of violence, during the 20th century making
some historians to think that this conflict was bound to happen as it had occurred various other times
in the past. Historically, another reason for the ethnic tensions occurred due to the fall of Communism.
Although this is somewhat indirect, different ethnicities side with different governmental views
causing deeper tensions to rise after the vacuum of the major world power in the Eastern Europe
region. As stated earlier, Slobodan Milosevic believed he could push his agenda without any
international policing of his actions due to the recent fall of communism and power vacuum. On this
note, governmental influences are also another way that nationalism caused the Bosnian Civil War.
Next, governmental influences, in not only the physical

Interpersonal Relationship With My Family
Practical Example of Theory My family happens to be deeply religious, conservative and often closed
minded about certain aspects of life. In other words, everything that they tend to support and believe
in as a family unit, tends to be something I can not personally agree with. As anyone can imagine, this
has deeply affected my interpersonal relationship with my family in a negative impact. As an adult, I
have come to my own conclusions about my personal beliefs about life and what those entail for
myself. These beliefs are usually the exact opposite of what I grew up with, much to the
disappointment of my family which has created a deep divide between us. This has probably affected
my relationship with my father the most, as he has always been the most outspoken about his
disappointment.
For my father this has been rather difficult to accept because to him, I have violated my family s
beliefs by turning my back on religion and wanting no part of it in my personal life. It is simply
something he can not comprehend, to him it means turning my back on my family and everything I
have known. Years ago when I was a teenager, I confided in him that I wanted nothing to do with the
church anymore and he chalked it up to teenage youth. Nowadays, my interpersonal relationship with
my father has been strained because he has finally understood that I had actually been serious all
along. In fact, when it was brought up again when I was an adult and when I had given him the same

History Of Kosovo Essay
The Balance of Power Theory and It s Application to Kosovo
Ideas are the corner stones of International Relations and Diplomacy. These ideas are often titled
theories, a term that grants the ideas a certain degree of credibility in application, though they remain
theories; they cannot be proved., only applied intelligently in hopes of arriving at the correct
conclusion. One theory concerning the Balance of Power (BOP) falls under the Neo Realist analysis

German participation and support of the holocaust. Of course, most of the population was horrified at

2. States do not truly have common interests. If this were true, there would be no need for
supranational organizations, and supranationally binding treaties would also be unnecessary, as
interests would be tacitly agreed on.
Neo Realism, as a result of the cold war, is marked by more a modern view of International Relations,
i.e. whereas Classicists would insist that a Balance of Power theory is what keeps the world from the
brink of war, a Neo Realist attributes this to a combination of BOP and the Mutual Assured
Destruction theory.
1.B. Balance of Power Theory
The BOP Theory states that having a balance of power establishes equilibrium. Anarchy generally
equals insecurity, and insecurity and conflicts of interest are what produce constant competition
between states. In order to ease competition states seek allies and military power, which leads to a
balance of power. This formulation is a consequence of twentieth century war and state history, and
must be modified to be applied to different times periods. Medievally, this power structure would have

Fish Oil
Exercise induced muscle damage results in decreased muscle force production, increased muscular
tension as well as muscle soreness and swelling. This subsequently leads to a reduction in physical
performance and ability to maintain training load (Howatson van Someren, 2008).
Eccentric muscle contraction can be defined as muscle loading that involves an external force
application with tension, increased during physical lengthening of the musculotendinous unit (Albert,
1995, p.1). Eccentric exercise results in a greater amount of muscle damage than concentric training as
the contracting muscle is forcibly lengthened; this also leads to a greater inflammatory response.
There are two prominent signs of muscle damage after eccentric exercise, ... Show more content on

It is the mechanisms by which it works that suggest it could potentially have many positive benefits
for athletes. Fish oil has been shown to have an anti inflammatory effect, because fatty acids EPA and
DHA can partially inhibit some parts of the inflammatory process including leucocyte chemotaxis;
adhesion molecule expression and leucocyte endothelial adhesive interactions; production of
eicosanoids such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes from the n 6 fatty acid arachidonic acid;
production of inflammatory cytokines and T cell reactivity (Calder, 2013). Tartibian, Maleki and
Abbasi (2011) found that markers of inflammation, PGE2, IL 6, TNF a, LDH, CK, and Mb, were
reduced 24 and 48 hours after an eccentric exercise program, consisting of bench stepping, in those
untrained males who used a fish oil supplement (containing 324mg EPA and 216mg DHA) for 30 days
prior to the program. Reductions in inflammatory markers associated with muscle damage,
particularly delayed onset of muscle soreness make these findings particularly significant and
highlight the potential importance of the use of fish oil as a supplement, as reducing inflammation and
therefore speeding up recovery allows for a greater capacity to train and develop. Oostenbrug et al.
(1997) found that exercise performance, as measured by validated exercise tests (W max test;
Endurance exercise test), was not significantly altered by fish oil or fish oil and vitamin E
supplementation after 3 weeks. Leaf and Rauch (1988) however, did find an increase in VO2 max in
well trained subjects after daily supplementation with 6g of fish oil for 6 weeks. Suggesting that in the

The Raven A Man By Edgar Allan Poe
Romanticism has dated back since the 1780 s, the literature behind Romanticism is full with emotion,
passion and wildness. The characters in these passages are very distinguished, they are also iconic.
The stories are usually set a unknown place for example in a castle or in the woods, or they are set in a
known place where something is out of the ordinary. There is something supernatural going on within

educations as a way of self emancipation. Slaves knew the importance of having a education, some of
them took the risk of going to secret school, where they were able to learn how to read and write.
Black decided to set up their own schools at their own expenses. With the help of free black men,

The roots of The Joint Commission began in the American College of Surgeons (ACS), founded in
1913, which eventually lead to voluntary onsite inspections of hospitals in 1918. In 1951, The
American College of Physicians, the American Hospital Association, the American Medical

Narrating The Nation Picasso And The Myth Of El Greco
Robert Lubar s essay Narrating the Nation: Picasso and the Myth of El Greco discusses the aftermath
of the bloody Spanish American war resulting in El Desastre del 98 in Spain which rocked the national
psyche into a period of cultural dissonance. Following the Disaster, the nation quickly found itself in
an agitated period of conflicting ideas and divisive discourses, specifically between Madrid and
Catalonia. Essentially, class divisions, regional differences, and this lack of national identity was what
gave way to the Myth of El Greco in fin de sïecle Spain. Lubar proposes that the myth connected

where tradition serves to extol and preserve the comfortable customs in our lineage, modernity serves
to revolutionize and counter those very social constructs. If there is anything that has become clear to
me, it is that temporality and tradition, progressivism and modernity, all exist in an intertextual
phenomena within, in relation, and in conversation with each other. As Unanomo and Ganivet pointed
out in their writings, tradition simultaneously informs, and is formed by, the present . During the era of
regeneration, Castille rushed to codify culture within their targeted political positions which could be
considered as a push against the State due to political corruption, whereas Catalonia urged a reform of
economy and political culture, their position was precisely a call to the government to amend that
which they had

The Golden Parachute Option for CEO s
Imagine being in a world where people are paid in cash bonuses, stock options, or generous severance
pay when fired from their job due to a company merger, are asked to leave, or choose to retire. This
happens to be a reality for many CEO s and top executives of companies. We live in an economy
where mergers and take over s have become common, and to allow this option for the highest paid
employees of a company is arguably unfair. While researching golden parachutes, I formed questions
due to the circumstances surrounding this executive option. For example, why should CEO s, who live
very comfortably, be given a compensation package for losing their position due to a company merger
or retirement when employee and shareholder s futures are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Once executives were getting these highly substantial payments, shareholders quickly questioned
executives for their integrity and motive due to this high increase in payment amounts. There have
been many debated reasons in support of and against golden parachutes on account of the increase in
payment amounts and how the terms of their severance package were written out.
It interests me how easy someone can be opposed to golden parachutes from a middle class citizen s
view, where we all want to be paid the same dollar figures as top executives. It s strongly argued
golden parachutes give the feeling that CEO s and top executives are solely looking out for
themselves, not considering how investors and employees will be impacted by mergers. As I stated in
my opening paragraph, Why should CEO s be given a compensation package for losing their job due
to a company merger or retirement when employee and shareholder s futures are at stake? Andrew
Ross Sorkin supported this notion in his article Executive Pay: A Special Report; Those Sweet Trips to
the Merger Mall in which he stated, Mergers and acquisitions can be get rich quick paths for top
corporate managers, providing a personal incentive to get the deal done, no matter what happens to
shareholders. And they are no longer just for chief executives who sell their companies

Family Relationships In The Odyssey And The Coen Brothers
Homer and the Coen brothers were trying to communicate many messages to the audience in their
respective pieces, Homer, with a popular book called The Odyssey and the Coen brothers with the
film adaptation, O Brother, Where Art Thou? Although the movie and book have their differences, one
thing in common is their take on family relationships. In both works, the main characters realized they
were missing their families, and made it their first priority to return home to mend unresolved issues.
Homer and the Coen brothers were trying to say that in order to have a healthy relationship with your
family, it s necessary to be present and focused without distractions. In order to have a relationship
with the people you love, you need to be there for them. If you can t commit to your family, then
problems are inevitable. Relationships take work and time and attention, which is exactly what
Odysseus failed to provide his family with. In the beginning of The Odyssey, we find that Odysseus
had been gone for twenty long years and that he abandoned his wife and son to participate in the
Trojan War. Back in Ithaca, Penelope and Telemakhus are suffering the consequences of Odysseus
absence. If Odysseus was more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Australia and Indigenous People
From the surface one may look upon Australia as being the lucky county however when explored
deeper Kayleigh Richmond came to the conclusion that this so called lucky country isn t all that lucky
for marginalized groups in Australia, the literature of these marginalized groups in Australia certainly
substantiates this point .
Many sources of literature suggest that Australia is not considered the lucky country for migrants,
indigenous and other marginalized groups of people living in Australian society. Privileged
Australians would say that Australia is the lucky country and for them it may be but it certainty isn t
for everyone. So, what makes Australia appear to be the unlucky country for marginalized groups in
Australia? Is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She said I was back, I was a servant , this quote shows evidently how she viewed herself due to the
Europeans treating her like that and making her feel like that.
The new edition of My Place by Sally Morgan called Arthur Corunna s Story has been adapted for
younger readers. Arthur Corunna s comment on his own story could well stand as a comment on the
larger book: It s important, because then maybe they ll understand how hard it s been for the blackfella
to live the way he wants (Thomas, 1988). Imtinan, a 16 year old child was quoted saying, Here
[Australia] we cannot find solutions for our situation, because whenever we come up with something,
some people will say forbidden, others will say this cannot be done. In other words, we cannot do
anything (NRC, 2013).
Australia evidently is not the lucky country for the vast majority of people living there. Australia has
potential to be the lucky country for everyone living there but we choose to not embrace their cultural
values and attitudes that these marginalized groups contribute to the lucky country . These
marginalized citizens have been sidelined on the terms of development and social amenities and have
been are vulnerable to social injustices and human discomforts, hence making these groups
disadvantaged in most aspects of life. So, once again, is Australia the lucky country? Well maybe not
for all.

The Role Of Women In The Bride Price By Buchi Emecheta
The Bride Price by Buchi Emecheta follows the story of Aku nna, a young girl from the Ibo people of
Nigeria, who reaches the marrying age after her father s death. While anticipated to bring in a large
sum of money from marriage, she refuses to date any of the suitors presented to her, instead choosing
her lover, a descendant of slaves, and bringing dishonor upon her family. A suitor then kidnaps her, but
she manages to escape him and elope with her lover; she eventually dies in childbirth with their
conceived daughter. In the novel, Nigerian culture, specifically of the Ibo people, establishes a
patriarchal society. Because of this, women are treated as inferior, as evident by expectations and
marriage/dating customs that infringe upon their freedom and dignity. The role of women in Ibo
society is demonstrated in The Bride Price by the expectations to be obedient under the ownership of
older males, to fulfil motherhood as early and fruitfully as possible, to abide by menstrual hygiene
rules, to be pure through chastity, and to follow such standards or else bring shame upon their family.
In the patriarchal society of the Ibo, a woman must submit to an older man s demands specifically of a
husband or family member; she is rarely in full control of herself. Emecheta writes that a girl belonged
to you today as your daughter, and tomorrow, before your very eyes, would go to another man in
marriage to suggest the presence of a dominant male figure in all walks of life (17).

Rally Racing Persuasive Essay
Subaru WRX STI vs. Mitsubishi EVO Someone who has seen or has any marginal sense when it
comes to the world of rally racing, has likely heard of or seen the Subaru WRX STI and the
Mitsubishi EVO. Both these cars have proven to be the forefront and face of rally racing, and even in
regular everyday street commuting and within the car culture community itself. The cars themselves
have gained a large following as they both front similar yet fairly different advantages and
disadvantages to them for instances other than just rally racing. They ve both gained reputations, both

Subaru took a bold and very risky move in 2005 by upping the STI s engine from a 2.0L engine to a
2.5L. Although it may not sound like a large increase, it proved to be just what Subaru needed to keep
the fire burning when it came to their continuous wins in rally tournaments. The new and improved
STI now sported a 2.5L turbocharged flat 4 engine, now pulling a little over 300 horsepower at stock.
The EVO did manage to hold up surprisingly well to the new STI while only having a 2.0L
turbocharged engine; however, The STI, on the other hand, does not disappoint in that area. Power
from the Subaru s larger 2.5 liter turbocharged flat 4 comes in early and seems to stay fairly linear
where the Evo s power kicks in abruptly. The STI has consistently offered more popularity among car
enthusiasts due to its larger and more powerful turbocharged engine that pulls more boost, torque, and
horsepower over the EVO. The car culture and community around the STI has continuously increased
due to its increased power and pizazz then the EVO that can hold up with the STI, but doesn t offer the
immense power STI owners have come to love. The 6 speed transmission of the STI proved to be of a
crucial benefit as it allowed for better control over the driver s car due to the less limiting gear ranges.

Maus Symbolism
The graphic novel Maus by Art Spiegelman published in 1980 reinforces the ruthlessness of Nazis,
painting them in a deplorable connotation. Set in World War II, the text supports this theorem through
the author s use of symbolism, captions and facial expressions. Each convention conveys the
callousness of Nazis towards Jews, evoking dismay from the readers. In the first panel, the long shot
captures the full position of a Nazi soldier on a silhouetted horse, grasping a rifle in his hands, which
symbolises violence. Clad in army attire, the soldier s upright posture exemplifies menace as his gaze
is fixed upon a Jewish man hunched over a crate filled with rocks, seemingly too old or weak for such
work , as quoted by the caption up top. Thus, the symbolism of the rifle and the Nazi s upright posture
suggest power and authority in comparison to the mere shovel held by the Jewish man. This reinforces
the ruthless characteristic of Nazis by highlighting their brutal indifference towards the anguish of
Jewish people, as also evidenced by the scornful remark of worthless Jew! in the next panel, evoking
despair from the readers. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The alliteration of the ea sound in Jews beaten with no reason emphasises its meaning, with the aid of
the image capturing the deserted town, thus suggesting that indeed, whole towns were pushing out all
Jews. Therefore, the deplorable representation of Nazis is reinforced through the use of alliteration,
caption and symbolism, as well as the darkness of the background, which represents an ominous
connotation. This challenges our values of equality, focusing on the extermination of the Jewish race
committed by the ruthless

Canadian Shield Pros And Cons
Promotional Pitch for Canadian Mining Association
Introduction
The Canadian Shield is is arguably the best place to hold the annual Canadian Mining Association
Summit as it s considered one of the richest areas of mineral ores in the world, making it great for
future mining opportunities. This provides thousands of jobs for people looking to get into this
industry as truck drivers, miners, geologists, analysts, etc.
Types of Landforms
The Canadian Shield is a landform region that covers 8,000,000 km2, 4/5th Canada s total landmass.
It s quite an old region, dating back 2.5 to 4.2 billion years, when the tectonic plate movement created
a mountain range so large, it rivals the Himalayas of today. (Erin James Abra Jamie Bastedo, 2006)

The humid continental climate allows the vast amount of coniferous trees to grow, but is certainly not
limited to only coniferous trees. Ash, Birch, Aspen, Hemlock trees all grow in the Canadian Shield
region, forming the massive forest that covers a majority of the Canadian Shield. (Erin James Abra
Jamie Bastedo, 2006) This region is tough on the trees however, because of the short growing season,
many of the trees are skinny. ( Welcome,Tourists , n.d)
Wildlife The wildlife of the Canadian Shield region is very diverse, with many different species of
bears, birds, wolves, insects or fish living in the massive forests.(Kate, Navneet Simone, n.d) The
wide diversity is because of the abundance of food, shelter, and water the Canadian shield has. The
many lakes and rivers that present in the region provide a nearly unlimited supply of fresh water and
the trees provide shelter for the millions of small insects and animals. The larger animals would prey
on these smaller animals, or graze on the vegetation. Without the sustainability of the Canadian
Shield, there would definitely be less

Comparing To His Coy Mistress And The Passionate Shepherd...
Although Marvell s To His Coy Mistress was written some time after The Passionate Shepherd to His
Love , both contain many similarities. Most evident is that both are carpe diem poems that exhort the
reader. One similarity between the two poems is the theme of exaggeration to convince the beloved.
The hyperbole in Marlowe s poem being And a thousand fragrant posies and But thirty thousand to the
rest in Marvell s. Both of these lines illogically exaggerate amounts to show how much the beloved
means to the reader in an attempt to convince them to act. Marvell s approach in exhorting is to
convince the beloved that time and eventually death is inevitable. The speaker s statement, But at my
back I always hear, Time s winged chariot hurrying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To me the chariot provides a visual for the rate of time. When we think of time it can be difficult to
gauge how quickly it passes, but you can easily imagine walking down a road and having a car, or
chariot, speeding by. The notion that the chariot is coming up from behind the speaker lends a
negative view in my opinion, because the visual that comes to mind is the speaker being chased down
by the chariot, or time. Another visualization that Marvell uses is iron gates of life . What really struck
me about this statement was that it is usually said as iron gates of death . In Marvell s use however, it
is as though life were trapping the person and they must break through the iron gates by living in the
moment to actually be able to have a life. The last two lines of the poem are a very strong image
showing how time and seizing the moment are related. The lines state, Thus, though we cannot make
our sun, Stand still, yet we will make him run. Time is represented as the sun, because if the sun never
sets then time would stop. Therefore this image of the sun running means that time can not be stopped,
but you can seize the day and be in control of its

Long-Term Solution
Throughout the history of the United States, our government has proposed solutions for problems not
specifically addressed in the constitution. Some of these problems developed over time, some resulted
from changes in the social climate of the country, others from the constant influx of immigrants from
other nations. Many of the solutions that government proposed did not solve the problem; sometimes,
the problem got worse. In these cases, the government had to implement a long term solution to
maintain law and order. Everything that has happened in the world has affected people either
nationally, state, and or locally. On the day of September 11th, 2001 was the attack of the twin towers

Comparison of Charge of the Light Brigade and Dulce et Decorum A Comparison of Two Poems In
this essay I will compare two poems. The poems that I will discuss, are Charge of the Light Brigade
by Alfred, Lord Tennyson and Dulce Et Decorum by Wilfred Owen. Wilfred Owen was actually a
fighter in the war, where as Alfred, Lord Tennyson only wrote the poem on what he had heard and he
had no experience of war. Although both poems are about war, they are a complete contrast to each
other, not only in the way they are written but also with the message they deliver. Charge of the Light
Brigade delivers a strong message. The theme of this poem is war. The poem gives us the impression
that war is glorious and noble. The poem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The assonance in this sentence sounds likes the horses trotting at a steady pace towards the opposition.
In stanza two we continue picturing them heading towards war but also picture some drama and
shouting. Forward, the light Brigade! Was there a man dismay d? Not tho the soldier knew someone
had blunder d . We also imagine them showing great courage, Their s but to do and die: Into the valley
of Death Rode the six hundred. In stanza three we picture them staring death straight in the eye as they
are directly in front of the opposition, Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon in
front of them although they are in a terrifying situation the writer still makes them sound noble and
courageous Boldly they rode well, Into the jaws of Death, Into the mouth of Hell Rode the six
hundred. Stanza four tells us about the battle. There is a great deal of onomatopoeia in stanza four
which works well as it causes us to picture and hear exactly what is happening. Words such as:
Plunged , Reel d , Shatter d and sunder d are used. In stanza five we are told about them leaving the
battle Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon behind them at this point the writer
helps us to feel thankful for what the warriors did and persuades us to earn a great deal of respect for
the fighters as he says: While horse and hero fell, They that had fought so well Came thro the jaws

The success and strength of the partnership can be attributed to the commonly held values of both countries, including a commitment to democracy, human rights and the rule of law, along with similar approaches to international security. Japan forms Australia s second largest export market and third largest source of foreign investment. Australia is a critical supplier to Japan of clean and safe food products as well as minerals and energy. • 6. Subsistence Agriculture vs. Industrial-Style Animal Farming Contrast subsistence agriculture and industrial style animal farming. Subsistence farming is the most basic of farming methods where a small plot of land is cultivated by an individual, a family or a community just to feed their hungry mouths. All the produce is consumed by the family and not intended for sale outside. The experts believe that this kind of farming is almost primeval and needs to change quickly to the industrialized mode all over the world, if abject poverty and famine are to be eradicated. Several factors have worked against the success of implementation, and they are not only technology related, but social, educational, economic, and political, as well. Many feminist voices have however, preferred to support the existing method of subsistence farming for the harmony and relationship that it fostered among the people, with an argument that human relationships, ecology and togetherness are more important than wealth (Shiva, 1989). In this perspective, subsistence farming does not contribute to economic growth or capital accumulation or even labor specialization. Since funds are limited to buy chemical fertilizers, most produce are organic and genetically modified seeds are never used here (Roosevelt, 2007, Wright, 2007). You will learn from history that subsistence farming existed in Southeast Asia, Sub Saharan Africa, South and Central America. Over the years; take the example of British colonized Kenya. The History Of Newark Some of the top historical movements that the United States ever encountered were the following: civil rights, women s suffrage, gay rights, anti war, labor movement, black power, and occupy wall street. But there hasn t been a major movement or protest that has really shaped and changed the minds of our citizens of this country, to understand that our environment is in a crisis. People are still having the same concept that climate change and global warming isn t real when in reality it is. The organization that represent the face of Newark s environment is called, Ironbound Community Corporation (ICC) but the team that specialize with this particular social issue is the Environmental Justice . Ironbound is in the East Ward of Newark but is considered the most contaminated section in comparison to the rest of Newark. Emily Turonis was the young lady who I had the privilege to interview and really find out about Newark and what has the Environmental Justice team have done to improve the living circumstances of Ironbound. The Ironbound has been a home to many industrial and residential communities where factories operate right next to homes, schools, and playgrounds. The East Ward is surrounded by the airport, the highways, the railroads, and the Passaic River. Having all these deserted lots, forgotten factories, neglected junk, all this takes a toll on the air, water, and land of Newark. The federal government eventually declared this pool closed down in 1987. Same thing happened in the mid 2000 s, when the Ironbound opened an outdoors pool on the corner of Ferry St. and Waydell St. and a couple of years later they had to closed it down due to the high levels of dioxin. • 10. Creationism Isn t Science but Belongs in Schools Essay Creationism Isn t Science but Belongs in Schools The origin of life has been a point of discussion for as long as history has been documented. Ancient Egyptians believed that the sun god Ra took another form, created land from a watery abyss and created everything, including gods and humans. The Iroquois, a tribe of Native Americans, told a story of god to human lineage that resulted in twins, one being evil and one being good. The good twin creates a picture perfect world. The evil twin reverses the good twin s actions by making things more complex and difficult for humans. Christians and Jews believe that God, their only god, created the earth and the heavens in six days, and on the seventh day ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He states that the inclusion of creationism would be a startling blow to the fabric of science education. He goes on to say that the general understanding science students should have is that people can confront the universe and learn about it directly through scientific testing (520). The theory of creationism can not be tested using the earth and universe directly, and because of this Eldredge feels that it would be detrimental to students general understanding of science. Creationism Isn t Science is the title of this essay and it explains the ideas of this essay in one sentence; the author, however, takes approximately six pages to reiterate this idea. Eldredge s main point is simply that creationism isn t a science and evolution is a vital theory in the field of science. The idea is basic; the theory of evolution is based in science and therefore is to be taught in a science curriculum. Evolution is the theory that there is one basic scheme of similarities interlocking all of life. This theory is usually studied in biological fields but is useful in a number of other scientific fields. By explaining the uses of evolution in some scientific fields, Eldredge makes the point ... • 11. The Importance Of The English Revolution And The American... English history played a major role in the American Revolution by introducing new and revolutionary ideas to the public. Several events, such as the English Revolution and the restoration of the monarchy also influenced the mindset during the war. The successful overthrow of Charles I and the attempted establishment of an English republic probably inspired many colonists to fight against King George III s tyranny. Enlightenment ideals such as social contract and basic rights also influenced the war. The colonists felt that King George III was violating their right to privacy, assembly, and speech. Therefore, the colonists had the right to revolt because the government was failing its main purpose according to social contract. British tax and economic policies such as the Stamp Act, Townshend Act, Sugar Act, and the Navigation Acts angered colonists. They believed the Parliament had no right to impose these taxes and laws on them because the colonists weren t represented in government. As a result, several Sons of Liberty members, disguised as Native Americans, boarded a British cargo ship and dumped tea into the Boston Harbor as protest. Angered by the act, Parliament passed the Intolerable Acts (Coercive Acts), punishing the Bostonians for the Boston Tea Party by blockading the Boston Harbor until restitution was made for the tea. The colonists also resented the Navigation Acts, which effectively created a British trading monopoly. Cheap items were often highly taxed, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Major Causes Of The Bosnian Civil War Since the end of World War Two, no conflict in Europe was as barbarous as the Civil War that took place in Bosnia, formerly known as Yugoslavia. In 1992, Bosnians officially declared their independence from Yugoslavia erupting the whole territory into a brutal conflict that left nearly 100,000 dead and 2.2 million displaced people. This disastrous ethnic cleansing involved the breakup of Yugoslavia into six smaller states including: Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Macedonia. Upon this division of Yugoslavia, the Bosnians and Croats were able to gain independence from the Serbs through international backing and militaristic strategic advantages from organizations such as the UN and NATO. The main cause of the Bosnian ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, during this time Ethnic Fault Lines were created resulting in stronger violence along these areas. Reference the attached map of Yugoslavia in the Cited Sources section to view the map of ethnic majorities within the Yugoslavian region. This is a perfect example of how all the ethnicities were spread out across the region and not simply contained to one area allowing for the violent ethnic fault lines. Along with the historical perspective of ethnic tensions causing nationalism in Yugoslavia, new evidence from historians have shown that the Bosnian Civil War was not a one time deal in the area. This had been considered a very active region, in the case of violence, during the 20th century making some historians to think that this conflict was bound to happen as it had occurred various other times in the past. Historically, another reason for the ethnic tensions occurred due to the fall of Communism. Although this is somewhat indirect, different ethnicities side with different governmental views causing deeper tensions to rise after the vacuum of the major world power in the Eastern Europe region. As stated earlier, Slobodan Milosevic believed he could push his agenda without any international policing of his actions due to the recent fall of communism and power vacuum. On this note, governmental influences are also another way that nationalism caused the Bosnian Civil War. Next, governmental influences, in not only the physical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Interpersonal Relationship With My Family Practical Example of Theory My family happens to be deeply religious, conservative and often closed minded about certain aspects of life. In other words, everything that they tend to support and believe in as a family unit, tends to be something I can not personally agree with. As anyone can imagine, this has deeply affected my interpersonal relationship with my family in a negative impact. As an adult, I have come to my own conclusions about my personal beliefs about life and what those entail for myself. These beliefs are usually the exact opposite of what I grew up with, much to the disappointment of my family which has created a deep divide between us. This has probably affected my relationship with my father the most, as he has always been the most outspoken about his disappointment. For my father this has been rather difficult to accept because to him, I have violated my family s beliefs by turning my back on religion and wanting no part of it in my personal life. It is simply something he can not comprehend, to him it means turning my back on my family and everything I have known. Years ago when I was a teenager, I confided in him that I wanted nothing to do with the church anymore and he chalked it up to teenage youth. Nowadays, my interpersonal relationship with my father has been strained because he has finally understood that I had actually been serious all along. States do not truly have common interests. If this were true, there would be no need for supranational organizations, and supranationally binding treaties would also be unnecessary, as interests would be tacitly agreed on. Neo Realism, as a result of the cold war, is marked by more a modern view of International Relations, i.e. whereas Classicists would insist that a Balance of Power theory is what keeps the world from the brink of war, a Neo Realist attributes this to a combination of BOP and the Mutual Assured Destruction theory. 1.B. Balance of Power Theory The BOP Theory states that having a balance of power establishes equilibrium. Anarchy generally equals insecurity, and insecurity and conflicts of interest are what produce constant competition between states. In order to ease competition states seek allies and military power, which leads to a balance of power. This subsequently leads to a reduction in physical performance and ability to maintain training load (Howatson van Someren, 2008). Eccentric muscle contraction can be defined as muscle loading that involves an external force application with tension, increased during physical lengthening of the musculotendinous unit (Albert, 1995, p.1). Eccentric exercise results in a greater amount of muscle damage than concentric training as the contracting muscle is forcibly lengthened; this also leads to a greater inflammatory response. It is the mechanisms by which it works that suggest it could potentially have many positive benefits for athletes. Fish oil has been shown to have an anti inflammatory effect, because fatty acids EPA and DHA can partially inhibit some parts of the inflammatory process including leucocyte chemotaxis; adhesion molecule expression and leucocyte endothelial adhesive interactions; production of eicosanoids such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes from the n 6 fatty acid arachidonic acid; production of inflammatory cytokines and T cell reactivity (Calder, 2013). Tartibian, Maleki and Abbasi (2011) found that markers of inflammation, PGE2, IL 6, TNF a, LDH, CK, and Mb, were reduced 24 and 48 hours after an eccentric exercise program, consisting of bench stepping, in those untrained males who used a fish oil supplement (containing 324mg EPA and 216mg DHA) for 30 days prior to the program. Reductions in inflammatory markers associated with muscle damage, particularly delayed onset of muscle soreness make these findings particularly significant and highlight the potential importance of the use of fish oil as a supplement, as reducing inflammation and therefore speeding up recovery allows for a greater capacity to train and develop. Oostenbrug et al. (1997) found that exercise performance, as measured by validated exercise tests (W max test; Endurance exercise test), was not significantly altered by fish oil or fish oil and vitamin E supplementation after 3 weeks. It interests me how easy someone can be opposed to golden parachutes from a middle class citizen s view, where we all want to be paid the same dollar figures as top executives. A suitor then kidnaps her, but she manages to escape him and elope with her lover; she eventually dies in childbirth with their conceived daughter. In the novel, Nigerian culture, specifically of the Ibo people, establishes a patriarchal society. Because of this, women are treated as inferior, as evident by expectations and marriage/dating customs that infringe upon their freedom and dignity. The role of women in Ibo society is demonstrated in The Bride Price by the expectations to be obedient under the ownership of older males, to fulfil motherhood as early and fruitfully as possible, to abide by menstrual hygiene rules, to be pure through chastity, and to follow such standards or else bring shame upon their family. In the patriarchal society of the Ibo, a woman must submit to an older man s demands specifically of a husband or family member; she is rarely in full control of herself. Set in World War II, the text supports this theorem through the author s use of symbolism, captions and facial expressions. Each convention conveys the callousness of Nazis towards Jews, evoking dismay from the readers. In the first panel, the long shot captures the full position of a Nazi soldier on a silhouetted horse, grasping a rifle in his hands, which symbolises violence. Clad in army attire, the soldier s upright posture exemplifies menace as his gaze is fixed upon a Jewish man hunched over a crate filled with rocks, seemingly too old or weak for such work , as quoted by the caption up top. • 34. Comparing To His Coy Mistress And The Passionate Shepherd... Although Marvell s To His Coy Mistress was written some time after The Passionate Shepherd to His Love , both contain many similarities. Most evident is that both are carpe diem poems that exhort the reader. One similarity between the two poems is the theme of exaggeration to convince the beloved. The hyperbole in Marlowe s poem being And a thousand fragrant posies and But thirty thousand to the rest in Marvell s. Both of these lines illogically exaggerate amounts to show how much the beloved means to the reader in an attempt to convince them to act. Marvell s approach in exhorting is to convince the beloved that time and eventually death is inevitable. The speaker s statement, But at my back I always hear, Time s winged chariot hurrying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To me the chariot provides a visual for the rate of time. When we think of time it can be difficult to gauge how quickly it passes, but you can easily imagine walking down a road and having a car, or chariot, speeding by. The notion that the chariot is coming up from behind the speaker lends a negative view in my opinion, because the visual that comes to mind is the speaker being chased down by the chariot, or time. Another visualization that Marvell uses is iron gates of life . What really struck me about this statement was that it is usually said as iron gates of death . In Marvell s use however, it is as though life were trapping the person and they must break through the iron gates by living in the moment to actually be able to have a life. The last two lines of the poem are a very strong image showing how time and seizing the moment are related. The lines state, Thus, though we cannot make our sun, Stand still, yet we will make him run. Time is represented as the sun, because if the sun never sets then time would stop. Therefore this image of the sun running means that time can not be stopped, but you can seize the day and be in control of its ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. Long-Term Solution Throughout the history of the United States, our government has proposed solutions for problems not specifically addressed in the constitution. Some of these problems developed over time, some resulted from changes in the social climate of the country, others from the constant influx of immigrants from other nations. Many of the solutions that government proposed did not solve the problem; sometimes, the problem got worse. In these cases, the government had to implement a long term solution to maintain law and order. Everything that has happened in the world has affected people either nationally, state, and or locally. On the day of September 11th, 2001 was the attack of the twin towers and the attack of the pentagon. This deadly attack affected ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Comparison of Charge of the Light Brigade and Dulce et... Comparison of Charge of the Light Brigade and Dulce et Decorum A Comparison of Two Poems In this essay I will compare two poems. The poems that I will discuss, are Charge of the Light Brigade by Alfred, Lord Tennyson and Dulce Et Decorum by Wilfred Owen. Wilfred Owen was actually a fighter in the war, where as Alfred, Lord Tennyson only wrote the poem on what he had heard and he had no experience of war. Although both poems are about war, they are a complete contrast to each other, not only in the way they are written but also with the message they deliver. Charge of the Light Brigade delivers a strong message. The theme of this poem is war. The poem gives us the impression that war is glorious and noble. The poem ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The assonance in this sentence sounds likes the horses trotting at a steady pace towards the opposition. In stanza two we continue picturing them heading towards war but also picture some drama and shouting. Forward, the light Brigade! Was there a man dismay d? Not tho the soldier knew someone had blunder d . We also imagine them showing great courage, Their s but to do and die: Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. In stanza three we picture them staring death straight in the eye as they are directly in front of the opposition, Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon in front of them although they are in a terrifying situation the writer still makes them sound noble and courageous Boldly they rode well, Into the jaws of Death, Into the mouth of Hell Rode the six hundred. Stanza four tells us about the battle. There is a great deal of onomatopoeia in stanza four which works well as it causes us to picture and hear exactly what is happening. Words such as: Plunged , Reel d , Shatter d and sunder d are used. In stanza five we are told about them leaving the battle Cannon to right of them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon behind them at this point the writer helps us to feel thankful for what the warriors did and persuades us to earn a great deal of respect for the fighters as he says: While horse and hero fell, They that had fought so well Came thro the jaws ...
