Frank Sinatra Has A Cold Gay Talese Analysis
In his article, Frank Sinatra Has a Cold author Gay Talese writes an insightful retelling of the time
right before Frank Sinatra s fiftieth birthday. Talese was originally meant to write a profile on Sinatra,
but Sinatra refused, due to him being under the weather. Instead, Talese stayed in Los Angeles and
informally shadowed Sinatra. Observing the legend, and interviewing the men and women closest to
him, Talese wrote a more personal profile on the singer that lends itself to a more fictional tone. This
insight to Sinatra s life, and the way it was carefully molded Talese said that he interviewed at least a
hundred people and could spend days perfecting just a small set of phrases was very well received by
readers and critics all around. In the article, Talese uses all types of writing techniques from his
arsenal to make the text as exemplary as possible. These techniques include the use of figurative
language and characterization, symbolism, theme, and imagery. Gay Talese s use of figurative
language and characterization in the first few pages of his article assists his audience in having a better
apprehension of Frank Sinatra s personality, and the way that others regard him. In the end of the
second paragraph of the article, Talese reveals to the reader that Frank Sinatra has a cold. In the next
paragraph, he goes on to say, Sinatra with a cold is Picasso without paint, Ferrari without fuel only
worse. For the common cold robs Sinatra of that uninsurable jewel, his voice, cutting into the core of
his confidence (Talese). This passage offers an analogy explaining why Sinatra is almost helpless
without his voice. The passage compares Sinatra with a cold to Picasso without paint. Without paint,
Pablo Picasso could never express himself to the world. He would never have become the acclaimed
artist that he is known as today. Just as Picasso was characterized by his paint, Sinatra is characterized
by his rich voice. When this is taken away from him, he feels futile and adrift. In the paragraph
directly after, Talese alludes to Sinatra s ex wives and girlfriend: Nancy Sinatra, Ava Gardner, and Mia
Farrow, who would soon be his wife. On the topic of the three women, Talese writes:
Now he has the

The Compensation Of Henrietta Lacks
Henrietta Lacks was born in Roanoke Virginia on August 1, 1920. She was a young black women who
would end up making the biggest contribution to science in humanity. Henrietta began to feel
something in her stomach that made her very uncomfortable and often stated she could feel a lump.
Lacks decided to take a visit to John Hopkins hospital in January of 1951, and this would change her
life forever. John Hopkins hospital was the only nearby hospital for miles that would assist those of
the negro descent. Henrietta began her visit by signing a form that gave permission to doctors to
perform any medical procedures needed. When she began her examination, Howard Jones found a
cancerous lump inside her cervix and she was misdiagnosed. Jones cut a ... Show more content on

Compensation is something, usually money, given to someone as a recompense for loss, injury, or
suffering. This actual definition lines up perfectly with what the family had to endure from Henrietta,
doctors, and the entire medical field themselves. Henrietta Lacks has a lot of family members and
many are still alive to this day. Henrietta was actually born Loretta Pleasant and later changed her
name (Biography). Her parents are John Randall Pleasant and Eliza Lacks Pleasant. After the death of
her mother, Henrietta moved with her grandfather and met her soon to be husband David Day Lacks.
David was Henrietta s first cousin and this caused health issues such as hearing loss within her
children. In 1935, Henrietta and David had a son named Lawrence (Biography). They soon had
another daughter named Elsie in 1939, and eventually married in 1941 (Biography). Elsie was
diagnosed with mental illness and sent to an insane asylum where she was often beaten and later died.
Images were taken of the horrific experiments and environmental living of these individuals. Henrietta
and Day later moved to Maryland and had three more children: David Jr., Deborah, and Joseph were
(Biography). Rebecca Skloot wrote a book called, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, where she
had many encounters with this family today (Family Perspective). Rebecca stayed very close and had
many interviews with Henrietta s daughter, Deborah. Skloot got to encounter Deborah seeing her
mother s cells through a microscope 50 years after her mother s death and she was stunned (Gabbay).
The family was unaware of what a cell even was. Medical researchers and scientists kept the HeLa
cells a secret from the family for over twenty years (Gabbay). After the family witnessed the cells,
their entire perspective changed. Deborah was amazed by these cells and finally wrapped her head
around how much she impacted the world. The family only truly knew the

A Short Note On Diabetic Retinopathy ( Dr ) Is The Most...
Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is the most common cause of vision loss in working aged individuals in
developed countries. Diabetic macular edema (DME) is the main cause of decreased vision in diabetic
retinopathy [1]. It was shown that the 10 year cumulative incidence of diabetic macular edema was
20.1% in type 1 diabetes and 25.4% in patients with type 2 diabetes treated with insulin [2]. The
management of DME includes strict glycemic and blood pressure control [3 5]. Argon laser treatment
for clinically significant macular edema (CSME) has been the mainstay treatment according to the
Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS) study that demonstrated a 50% reduction in
moderate visual loss following focal laser photocoagulation [6,7].
The conventional Argon laser treatment is associated with heat to the surrounding tissues such as the
neurosensory retina and the choroid leading to collateral thermal damage. The greyish endpoint of a
laser burn means that the temperature is high enough to change the transparency of the retina [8].
Possible side effects of conventional macular laser photocoagulation include visual loss due to
accidental foveal photocoagulation, pre and sub retinal fibrosis, choroidal neovascularization, visual
field scotomas, decreased color vision and progressive expansion of the laser scars into the fovea [9
12].
Conventional laser photocoagulation produces a continuous wave laser output. On the other hand

The rate of flowering can be estimated as a function of either quantitative or qualitative response.
Phalaenopsis generate two bud primordial at each node and it becomes dormant. Under favorable
conditions, the bud emerges into an inflorescence. The signal to trigger the inflorescence is
temperature. Many plant species on practicing diurnal fluctuation in temperatures elicited flowering
process. In this orchid, In the subtending leaf, a small vegetative bud and a large reproductive bud are
present. If favorable conditions return, the reproductive bud grows and will lead to flowering. After
the elongation of the reproductive stem, the development of floral buds starts. and only if favorable
environmental conditions prevail. Sufficient light is required for immediate towards low temperatures
to initiate spiking.
The materials and methods required for this study is plant material, plant culture, Temperature

What is Honor Flight? It is an amazing organization that honors World War II and Korean veterans.
The veterans go to Washington D.C. to see their monuments for an entire day and some even go for

The American Experience In Alice Walker s Short Story...
Alice Walker s short story Strong Horse Tea has many examples that make it unique to the American
Experience. Some things from the story that make it relatable to the American Experience is racism,
the advirtisment, and the determination that the characters have. Racism has been a big deal in
America for a long time and is still relevant today. Another example that makes this short story unique
to the American Experience is determination. Rannie is determined to get her infant son, Snooks, the
proper care and medicine to get rid of the double pneumonia he is suffering from and she won t give
up on trying to get her son to feel better. Lastly, advertisement is another thing from the story that
relates it to the American Experience. Advertisement is being used in America everyday to get people
to purchase things, and it is also shown by the mailman in this short story. There are a couple
examples of racism being used in this story that relate it to the American experience because racism is

western society are conveyed violence, alcohol, lies, deceit, conflict, along with those who participate.
Through his characters, Albee was able to reveal the different types of people who make up society
today. Each character represents the different approaches people have taken towards reality and life.
Those who are still young and have not really experienced life and are therefore kind of clueless is
represented by Honey while those who have had a good education, has a bright looking future ahead
of them, and looks to become very successful, those who have been named yuppies are represented by
Nick. He is the wave of the future . In a sense, The American Dream is actually represented by Martha

Women s Suffrage nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; The women s suffrage movement began in 1848
when a group of women met in Seneca Falls New York. These women issued what became known as
the Declaration of Sentiments and Resolution s, and 11 pt. document outlining the demand for equal

at that time, that women were both physically and mentally inferior to men, and therefore should not

Electricity is the Main Factor in Producing Carbon Dioxide
I have chosen to pick the production of electricity because it is a main factor to producing carbon
dioxide. Throughout years it has increased the effect of carbon dioxide GLOBALLY.
a) Describe ONE source of excess carbon dioxide pollution and explain scientifically how it has
impacted the environment.``
On average the world us 39% electricity therefore, electricity consumption is an important portion of a
customer s environmental footprint, which leads to the production of Carbon Dioxide ( Co2) a few
ways production of electricity has affected the environment is: The main sources that generate carbon
dioxide are thermal powered stations where hydrocarbon fuel (gas, oil, and coal) are burned to
produce heat and steam to drive to the generators. Hydrocarbon fuel is what causes carbon dioxide
letting out chemicals that pollute the earth s environment.
Caron dioxide is also responsible for Global Warming. Global warming is a gradual temperature rise
of the planet s atmosphere. ( as said in paragraph one hydrocarbon fuel creates heat ) Most of the light
energy that comes from the sun is emitted in wavelengths shorter than 4,000 nanometers. The heat
energy produced from the earth, however, is released in wavelengths longer than 4,000 nanometers.
Carbon dioxide doesn t absorb the energy from the sun, but it does absorb some of the heat energy
released from the earth causing global warming.

Why A Penny Is The United States Government Should...
Say Goodbye to the Penny There is a good chance that when an item is purchased, change will be
given back. It is also very likely that the change included multiple pennies. These pennies will then
proceed to be left in a pocket and forgotten, never to be used again because their purchasing power is
non existent. The United States government should discontinue the manufacturing of pennies. Pennies
do not serve the primary role of currency anymore. Also, pennies are uneconomical to produce and
waste taxpayers money by lining the pockets of corporations. Lastly, many other countries have
discontinued the production of their cent pieces with no negative impact. To understand why a penny
does not fulfill its role as currency anymore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning of the use of fiat currency, many governments backed the value of the currency with
gold. For a while, thirty five United States Dollars could be traded for 1 Troy ounce of gold at a bank.
Today however, the USD is no longer backed by gold. Most money today is just worthless paper , and
if the government endorsing that money fails, it turns that currency into useless paper. (This is causes
hyperinflation and recently happened to the Zimbabwean dollar.)
All of this ties back into the original problem with pennies. Fiat currency cannot itself be worth more
than the value it is given. It would make absolutely no sense to take a dollar worth of gold and make it
into a 50 cent coin. If this was done, people would just use the coin as gold, not the 50 cent piece it
was supposed to be. When the material fiat money is made out of is worth more than the government
proclaimed value, the purpose of that currency has failed and it has turned back into commodity
currency. A penny currently costs 1.8 cents to make. That 1.8 cent chuck of metal is then assigned a
value of 1 cent. It is unthinkable to lose .8 cents for every penny manufactured. This is just like the
aforementioned example where a dollar worth of gold was made into a 50 cent coin. When quarters
and dimes used to be made out of silver, and the price of silver started to rise, the silver content in
coins was reduced so

On 5 May 2004, despite great opposition of industry experts the French airline Société Air France (Air
France) and the Dutch Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij N.V. (KLM) created the world s largest
airline group by turnover named Air France KLM. The merger represented the first consolidation of

The merger arguably had a positive impact on the whole Skyteam alliance as it strengthened their
competitive position through KLM as well as its former alliance of Continental Airlines.
In terms of indirect vertical relations perhaps the biggest advantage of the merger was achieving
economies of scale and being able to offer more competitive prices to compete with the potential less
expensive means of transportation and shipment of cargo.
In addition to the classical relational actors some of the condition setting parties in the broader
environment also held significant importance in strategic relevance of the Air France KLM merger.
The contextual actors can be identified by employing the classic SEPTember distinction, consisting of
socio cultural actors, economic actors, political actors and technological actors.
Socio cultural actors played a significant part in the Air France KLM merger. Firstly, the industry
experts view was that the downsides of the merger such as reconciliation of the two different corporate
cultures (the French and the Dutch) would outweigh the upside. This was heavily publicised in the
media which resulted in stock prices dropping 7.4% in the week of the announcement. Consequently
the CEOs of the two airlines had to work tirelessly trying to convince analysts, stockholders and

The theme of The Catcher And The Rye by J.D Salinger is you can not stay a child forever because of

went to a private school called Pencey, but he was kicked out of the school for failing three out of four
of his classes. Holden now roams New York. First of all, people change each time they go to the

Types Of Personality Tests Out There
There are many types of personality tests out there. Some of them are better than others. These tests
are used to help determine the different personality types. Many employers use these tests to help
place new employees. They also use them to help determine if an employee will work out or not. It
can be important to know your own personality type. Understanding how you learn and what type of
jobs might be best for you can be very helpful in your own life. Many employers use tests like the one
found on the personality page website. One of their goals is to find employees with the best
personality for the job. Using these tests can save a company a lot of time and effort when hiring new
employees. For example, Overnight Transportation in Atlanta found that using such tests reduced their
on the job delinquency by 50% 100% (Livingston, p. 54). This is a huge drop saves them so much
time and money by hiring more reliable people. Though there are some downsides to these personality
tests by employers. To get the most accurate assessment you have to be honest when taking the test.
When an employer is looking for the best personality for the job a perspective employee has motives
not to be honest. A complicating factor is that people filling out the survey do not have a strong
incentive to be honest. In fact, they have a greater incentive to guess what the job requires and answer
the questions in a way they think the company is looking for (Livingston, p. 55). This is

The Influence Of Chivalry In Early Medieval Literature
Chivalry is a code of conduct which began in the middle ages, 449 1485. The mannerism was based
on a foundation of common morals and how to hold oneself socially then flourished into numerous
different aspects of life such as war and courtly love. Chivalry was then infiltrated into the military
and became a phenomenon among knights and how they should behave themselves in and out of war.
Chivalry and courtly love were practiced by nobility then trickled down to the working class where
they began to imitate it. Chivalry can be confused with feudalism which was (Schofield, Chivalry in

Why spend money that is really needed for other things? Why live uncomfortably? Why be trapped in
this hole called a home that belongs to another person? Why not live free and peacefully? When a
person rents he or she usually throws away money that could be used to purchase something that
belongs to them. Money is not easy to come by so why pay out hundreds toward something that is not
benefit to the person paying it out. There is no good explanation for making a decision like this. The
best option in a situation like this is to buy a house. Buying a house is a better option than renting an

Buying a house provides stability forever unless the owner decides to sell or to move into another
home in which the owner gains equity for selling. This is still a huge benefit. Owning a home is a very
huge security measure. When a person is an actual homeowner and not a renter he or she can control
who actually enters his or her home (Map, 2011). It is easier to purchase home alarm systems and
everything that goes on in a person s home is controlled by the owner. As a homeowner the option of
what is allowed and what goes on is controlled by the actual homeowner. If an issue comes up and the
owner has to move somewhere else then this is a huge benefit. As a seller a person can earn so much
money and it can build equity (Media, 2010). Usually homes sell for way more than the purchase
prices, especially if the owner has customized the home, in which was discussed earlier (RP Reality,
2011). The selling price could be a huge benefit to any owner who is selling their home and moving.
These benefits cannot be earned by an apartment renter. Buying a home is the best route to choose in
any situation. Buying a home means actually owning something. There is no more following another
person s rules, no more paying out unnecessary money. It means a sense of security and stability for a
person s family. It is the key to a better lifestyle. The benefits are all there. There is

large Windows components coexisting with other network operating systems (NOS) such as the many

around Microsoft s domain network architecture.

The implementation of Microsoft s Active Directory can also assist in actually reducing the number of
domains used in a given Microsoft based network. In the more recent implementations of Microsoft s
domain model, all network objects such as computers, printers, users, groups, Microsoft Exchange
mail accounts and other related network components are all stored in Microsoft s Active Directory

compared to past Microsoft domain architecture examples by providing a central repository for
network authentication and administration which is capable of replicating its data to other domain
controllers within the network using the process known as multimaster replication (DiNicolo, 2004, p
25). This process allows a domain controller to replicate its Active Directory database to other domain
controllers within the network. This process also enables users at other locations within the network to
authenticate and use the same network resources as other users who are physically closer to the
primary domain. In addition, the Dcpromo wizard allows for other Windows 2003 servers within the

willing 3. Learn what has been done before 4. Let the ideas flow 5. Don t give up when the
unexpected happens. The Wright brothers spark for aviation began in 1878, Wilbur, the oldest at
eleven years old and Orville, seven, when their father gave them a toy helicopter. It sparked them to
take it apart and remake it better than it was before they took it apart. Like many other successful
people, but not all, the Wright brothers did not go to college. Even though Wilbur was accepted into
Yale, he decided not to go because he had his teeth knocked out a few weeks prior. This was his set
back, being that he really wanted to go. Despite this setback, in 1892, Wilbur started his bicycle
business, manufacturing and producing bikes. He designed and hand made them himself. He went
with his passion that he found at the age of eleven, creating and designing. Wilbur Wright was also
willing to try something different, and go a different route. When the Wright brothers decided to aim
for the first flight, flight in general, they looked back at previous work of those before them.

Pediatric Nutrition Personal Statement Essay
Personal Statement
I discovered dietetics my senior year of high school when my mother became sick to where she could
barely leave the house. Physicians and specialists could not explain what was happening, until one
integrative medicine physician suggested food allergies. She was finally diagnosed with an allergy to
casein, and Celiac s disease. Her diet underwent major changes, and as I helped her adjust, I
recognized the powerful relationship between food and health. Having first hand experience with the
stress of changing an entire lifestyle, I understand how nutrition affects not only a patient but their
entire family. I would like to work as a pediatric dietitian to support children and their families, that
are just as scared as my family was five years ago. The Clinical Pediatric Nutrition concentration

knelt down to say hello to the boy and asked him about the stuffed elephant he was holding. To
everyone s surprise, he threw the toy at me and said I want nice lady to have it. The mother and
dietitian were both shocked because he had never spoken to the clinical team before. I was able to
make a difference by breaking the communication barrier limiting this patient s treatment by treating
him like any other patient. Communication and equitable treatment are important for working with the

The Devil Made Me Do It
The enemy, the devil, can t make you and I do anything. So, don t use that flimsy excuse that The
devil made me do it. The devil didn t make you do anything. He can t force you and I to do anything
that is outside our will or the will of God. All he can do is tempt you. He doesn t have that kind of
authority over us, where he can make you do anything. The Bible says that we are drawn away by our
own lusts when we do something that is outside of God s Word and will for our lives. You re drawn
away because that s what you wanted to do, and then we try to find every excuse in the book to justify
doing it. I m here to tell you that you ll never be able to qualify it. You will never ever be able to
satisfy yourself with the thought I was justified in doing it if you re going to be a man of integrity. A
man of integrity has nothing to hide, nothing to fear. You are always a stand up man, and you will
always be an individual who others can depend and count on. But most of all, a man of integrity is
always true to his word. When you make promises, keep them. Don t be a liar. A man of integrity is
not a liar; he keeps his word. The Bible says in Psalm 15, When you re living with integrity, you ll tell
the truth even when you re older. Even when you know it may very well expose you, you still tell the
truth instead of trying to find a way to get around it. Speak the truth in love, that we may grow up in
all things. Every time you lie, you compromise your integrity. Let s say

Negative Capability within Kubla Khan Essay
There are a myriad of critical theory lenses that can be applied and utilized to closely observe pieces
of literature. One of these theories is John Keats s Negative Capability theory which consists of an
idea of ...when man is capable of being in uncertainties, Mysteries, doubts, without any irritable
reaching after fact reason... (Keats 968). Ultimately, this signifies that in poetry the emphasis be
placed on the significance of inquisitiveness and the asking of questions of the life and scenery around
one s self, rather than placing emphasis on strongly searching for these answers. This theory can be
applied to a multitude of works, but for these sakes and purposes what will be critiqued is Samuel
Coleridge s Kubla Khan. In a subtle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Is there more? Since the dream was forgotten, there is an obvious abrupt stop to the work, which can
never be truly completed. It is even stated that, ...the Author has frequently purposed to finish for
himself what had been originally... but the to morrow is yet to come (Coleridge 460). So, readers are
told from the start that this work is not finished, which instantly sparks a curiosity of what was the
whole dream? Whilst the poem sparks this interest for knowledge within the reader, this need is never
sated within the reader due to the fact that none of their questions can be answered. Due to the dream
like essence of this poem, and the fact that the dream itself ...passed away like the images on the
surface of a stream which a stone had been cast... there are no answers offered (Coleridge 460). The
parts of the dream that faded away for the speaker may have contained the answers to these questions,
but unfortunately neither the reader nor the speaker will ever know. So, this poem instills this sense of
inquisitiveness, but it does not go against the theory of Negative Capability due to the fact that it does
not offer these questions that arise upon reading. Additionally, what makes this embody Negative
Capability so well is the fact that it does not even seem like the work is attempting to answer these
questions. It provides the reader detail after detail about this dream world, yet it does not offer

The Structure Of The Foundation Of Json Schema
Foundation of JSON Schema
Introduction
JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is the most popular semi structured data format for sending API
requests and responses but it is still lacking a standardized schema or meta data definition that allows
the developers to specify the structure of JSON documents. JSON is a data format based on the data
types of JavaScript Programming. JSON data models comprises of strings, numbers and other types of
data that database system treats as atomic. JSON is also used for storing data, and that too in the
format of choice for several document oriented databases such as MongoDB[3] and CouchDB[5].
This paper has been formally arranged in a way that it provides the reader complete understanding of
what JSON is and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the next step, the practical use case of increasing importance is demonstrated in Schema definition
for Wikidata [6].
All the six types of valid JSON document such as object, array, string. Numbers, boolean values and
null can be specified by a JSON schema. Here, the key point to understand is that a JSON document
satisfies a schema if it satisfies all keywords of schema. Formally, a schema S and a document J can
be represented as J|= S to describe that J satisfies S. |= is to define all six types of JSON document as
well as their combinations and enumerations.
Formal Analysis
The efficiency of working with JSON schema and its expressive power is discussed in this section. It
is observed whether the computational cost of document conforms to a schema. Later, JSON schema
is compared with various well established theoretical formalisms such as nondeterministic finite state
automata.
Practical Considerations
To understand the efficiency and applicability of JSON Schema, an experimental analysis is
undergone in this section of the article where the author initially runs a series of experiments to test
self developed validators under JSON document of increasing sizes. Later, a real use case named
Wikidata Database is used where JSON schema can be naturally used.

Anabolic Steroids In Sport
Steroids in Sport The human body naturally produces substances that are commonly known as
steroids. To keep the body running smoothly, steroids such as Vitamin D, cholesterol, estrogen, and
cortisone are needed. Corticosteroids are normally made by the adrenal glands located on the top of
each kidney. It is often prescribed for a major variety of conditions to help reduce inflammation and to
let the immune system relax. Specific hormones that the body cannot produce automatically can be
replaced by corticosteroids. An example of the body not being able to manufacture hormones itself,

delayed puberty, some types of impotence, wasting of the body caused by HIV infections,

amount of testosterone for normal growth development and sexual functioning. During that time,
scientists discovered that they could manipulate the growth of skeletal muscles in laboratory animals
and this led to body builders, weightlifters and athletes in numerous sports to abuse the use of steroids
for personal benefits. The outcome of sports contests can be affected dramatically because the abuse
of steroids has become so widespread. Athletes who abuse anabolic steroids have different methods to

Despite the numerous hand injuries occurring each year, 70% of workers aren t wearing hand
protection, while another 30 aren t wearing the right gloves (17). A glove from one firm may not have
the same chemical resistance as a glove that appears to be an identical glove made by another firm
(12). There are many variations of gloves available today to protect from hazards, however nature of
hazard and the operation will have an impact on the selection of the gloves (10). OSHA s hand

double layer of protection (12). If the outer glove starts to degrade or tears open, the inner glove
continues to offer protection until the gloves are removed and replaced (12). This technique isn t the

Essay On Muscular Dystrophy
Muscular dystrophy is a lethal sex linked disorder characterised by progressive muscle weakness and
muscle degeneration. It has been a medical problem for many years. In particularly Duchenne
muscular dystrophy (DMD) for it is the most frequently occurring and one of the most rapidly
progressive in children neuromuscular disorders (MDA, 2015). DMD affects approximately 1 in 3600

intertwined with Spanish rule, therefore claiming them as accessories in the dispute. The lower classes
of Mexico strongly believed that the allied forces of the creole elites and the Spanish was the direct
cause of peasant poverty in the region. Consequently, the creole elites of Mexico were deemed
enemies and attacked by the lower classes. In South American countries, however, creole elites were
glorified representatives of the fight for liberation from the Spanish. Many of the leaders of the South
American rebellion were creole elites, as was mentioned previously. These leaders seemed to be the

Analysis Of Getting A Drink
Getting a drink
1) Ms. Patterson lets Dari use the water fountain because of her special medical needs, knowing that
Dari will not abuse the privilege. Dari feels uncomfortable about the situation because, as she is well
aware, her classmates resent her preferential treatment. If she had a choice, Dari wouldn t use the
water fountain at all. The privilege of using the water fountain during class is, for Dari, most

With these conditions in mind, decide whether Ms. Patterson is promoting intrinsic motivation to
behave appropriately in her classroom.
Ms. Patterson is not promoting intrinsic motivation to behave appropriately in her classroom. In the
book on chapter 11 it mentions that motivation increases student s physical and cognitive We can see
that in this case she does not allow them to get drinks on their own and does not show them how to
properly act when it comes to drinking, but instead just bans anyone from drinking water during class
periods. In this situation the teacher is not giving them motivation to learn how to ask or participate
because Ms.Peterson is showing the students that she has preference for certain students like Dari
situation.
4) Is Ms. Patterson s decision not to allow students to get a drink during class a reasonable one? Why
or why not?
Ms. Patterson s decision not to allow students to get a drink or have water bottles in class is not a

students can be more awaken. In the book on chapter 11 we can see that classroom climate is the
general psychological environment that permeates classroom interactions. Ultimately we want a

  • 2. Frank Sinatra Has A Cold Gay Talese Analysis In his article, Frank Sinatra Has a Cold author Gay Talese writes an insightful retelling of the time right before Frank Sinatra s fiftieth birthday. Talese was originally meant to write a profile on Sinatra, but Sinatra refused, due to him being under the weather. Instead, Talese stayed in Los Angeles and informally shadowed Sinatra. Observing the legend, and interviewing the men and women closest to him, Talese wrote a more personal profile on the singer that lends itself to a more fictional tone. This insight to Sinatra s life, and the way it was carefully molded Talese said that he interviewed at least a hundred people and could spend days perfecting just a small set of phrases was very well received by readers and critics all around. In the article, Talese uses all types of writing techniques from his arsenal to make the text as exemplary as possible. These techniques include the use of figurative language and characterization, symbolism, theme, and imagery. Gay Talese s use of figurative language and characterization in the first few pages of his article assists his audience in having a better apprehension of Frank Sinatra s personality, and the way that others regard him. In the end of the second paragraph of the article, Talese reveals to the reader that Frank Sinatra has a cold. In the next paragraph, he goes on to say, Sinatra with a cold is Picasso without paint, Ferrari without fuel only worse. For the common cold robs Sinatra of that uninsurable jewel, his voice, cutting into the core of his confidence (Talese). This passage offers an analogy explaining why Sinatra is almost helpless without his voice. The passage compares Sinatra with a cold to Picasso without paint. Without paint, Pablo Picasso could never express himself to the world. He would never have become the acclaimed artist that he is known as today. Just as Picasso was characterized by his paint, Sinatra is characterized by his rich voice. When this is taken away from him, he feels futile and adrift. In the paragraph directly after, Talese alludes to Sinatra s ex wives and girlfriend: Nancy Sinatra, Ava Gardner, and Mia Farrow, who would soon be his wife. On the topic of the three women, Talese writes: Now he has the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Compensation Of Henrietta Lacks Henrietta Lacks was born in Roanoke Virginia on August 1, 1920. She was a young black women who would end up making the biggest contribution to science in humanity. Henrietta began to feel something in her stomach that made her very uncomfortable and often stated she could feel a lump. Lacks decided to take a visit to John Hopkins hospital in January of 1951, and this would change her life forever. John Hopkins hospital was the only nearby hospital for miles that would assist those of the negro descent. Henrietta began her visit by signing a form that gave permission to doctors to perform any medical procedures needed. When she began her examination, Howard Jones found a cancerous lump inside her cervix and she was misdiagnosed. Jones cut a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Compensation is something, usually money, given to someone as a recompense for loss, injury, or suffering. This actual definition lines up perfectly with what the family had to endure from Henrietta, doctors, and the entire medical field themselves. Henrietta Lacks has a lot of family members and many are still alive to this day. Henrietta was actually born Loretta Pleasant and later changed her name (Biography). Her parents are John Randall Pleasant and Eliza Lacks Pleasant. After the death of her mother, Henrietta moved with her grandfather and met her soon to be husband David Day Lacks. David was Henrietta s first cousin and this caused health issues such as hearing loss within her children. In 1935, Henrietta and David had a son named Lawrence (Biography). They soon had another daughter named Elsie in 1939, and eventually married in 1941 (Biography). Elsie was diagnosed with mental illness and sent to an insane asylum where she was often beaten and later died. Images were taken of the horrific experiments and environmental living of these individuals. Henrietta and Day later moved to Maryland and had three more children: David Jr., Deborah, and Joseph were (Biography). Rebecca Skloot wrote a book called, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, where she had many encounters with this family today (Family Perspective). Rebecca stayed very close and had many interviews with Henrietta s daughter, Deborah. Skloot got to encounter Deborah seeing her mother s cells through a microscope 50 years after her mother s death and she was stunned (Gabbay). The family was unaware of what a cell even was. Medical researchers and scientists kept the HeLa cells a secret from the family for over twenty years (Gabbay). After the family witnessed the cells, their entire perspective changed. Deborah was amazed by these cells and finally wrapped her head around how much she impacted the world. The family only truly knew the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Short Note On Diabetic Retinopathy ( Dr ) Is The Most... Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is the most common cause of vision loss in working aged individuals in developed countries. Diabetic macular edema (DME) is the main cause of decreased vision in diabetic retinopathy [1]. It was shown that the 10 year cumulative incidence of diabetic macular edema was 20.1% in type 1 diabetes and 25.4% in patients with type 2 diabetes treated with insulin [2]. The management of DME includes strict glycemic and blood pressure control [3 5]. Argon laser treatment for clinically significant macular edema (CSME) has been the mainstay treatment according to the Early Treatment Diabetic Retinopathy Study (ETDRS) study that demonstrated a 50% reduction in moderate visual loss following focal laser photocoagulation [6,7]. The conventional Argon laser treatment is associated with heat to the surrounding tissues such as the neurosensory retina and the choroid leading to collateral thermal damage. The greyish endpoint of a laser burn means that the temperature is high enough to change the transparency of the retina [8]. Possible side effects of conventional macular laser photocoagulation include visual loss due to accidental foveal photocoagulation, pre and sub retinal fibrosis, choroidal neovascularization, visual field scotomas, decreased color vision and progressive expansion of the laser scars into the fovea [9 12]. It is also very likely that the change included multiple pennies. These pennies will then proceed to be left in a pocket and forgotten, never to be used again because their purchasing power is non existent. The United States government should discontinue the manufacturing of pennies. Pennies do not serve the primary role of currency anymore. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the beginning of the use of fiat currency, many governments backed the value of the currency with gold. For a while, thirty five United States Dollars could be traded for 1 Troy ounce of gold at a bank. Today however, the USD is no longer backed by gold. Most money today is just worthless paper , and if the government endorsing that money fails, it turns that currency into useless paper. (This is causes hyperinflation and recently happened to the Zimbabwean dollar.) All of this ties back into the original problem with pennies. Fiat currency cannot itself be worth more than the value it is given. It would make absolutely no sense to take a dollar worth of gold and make it into a 50 cent coin. If this was done, people would just use the coin as gold, not the 50 cent piece it was supposed to be. When the material fiat money is made out of is worth more than the government proclaimed value, the purpose of that currency has failed and it has turned back into commodity currency. A penny currently costs 1.8 cents to make. That 1.8 cent chuck of metal is then assigned a value of 1 cent. It is unthinkable to lose .8 cents for every penny manufactured. The merger arguably had a positive impact on the whole Skyteam alliance as it strengthened their competitive position through KLM as well as its former alliance of Continental Airlines. In addition to the classical relational actors some of the condition setting parties in the broader environment also held significant importance in strategic relevance of the Air France KLM merger. The contextual actors can be identified by employing the classic SEPTember distinction, consisting of socio cultural actors, economic actors, political actors and technological actors. Socio cultural actors played a significant part in the Air France KLM merger. JSON is also used for storing data, and that too in the format of choice for several document oriented databases such as MongoDB[3] and CouchDB[5]. In the next step, the practical use case of increasing importance is demonstrated in Schema definition for Wikidata [6]. All the six types of valid JSON document such as object, array, string. Numbers, boolean values and null can be specified by a JSON schema. Here, the key point to understand is that a JSON document satisfies a schema if it satisfies all keywords of schema. Formally, a schema S and a document J can be represented as J|= S to describe that J satisfies S. |= is to define all six types of JSON document as well as their combinations and enumerations. Formal Analysis The efficiency of working with JSON schema and its expressive power is discussed in this section. It is observed whether the computational cost of document conforms to a schema. Later, JSON schema is compared with various well established theoretical formalisms such as nondeterministic finite state automata. Practical Considerations To understand the efficiency and applicability of JSON Schema, an experimental analysis is undergone in this section of the article where the author initially runs a series of experiments to test self developed validators under JSON document of increasing sizes. Later, a real use case named Wikidata Database is used where JSON schema can be naturally used. Experiment under JSON document of increasing size For this experiment, a machine with 8 GB ...
