consequences it has on our society; benevolent sexism is not as socially noticed and treated the same
as hostile sexism. The environment that houses each type of this sexism is a serious issue in today s
society as both are commonly used, but given social moderation due to the environment that it takes
place in. We should not continue to allow the social moderation we establish amoung sexism and its
environment. Tannenbaum defines benevolent sexism as a set of connected concepts towards women
that are sexist in terms of stereotypically viewing women in their subjugated roles while leaving a
pleasant tone (208). The stealth like factor of benevolent sexism is what makes it so powerful in today
s society, as a lot of people view it as chivalrous, rather than dangerous. While being almost invisible
compared to hostile sexism, social activism for benevolent sexism is drastically decreased due to that

People all around the world are busy. Busy with school, work, and other extra activities. People find
that going out to a restaurant would be quicker and more convenient. The fact remains that people
have to eat, whether it be cooking at home or going out. Though cooking at home and eating out are
are completely different ways to eat, they could not be any more different in quality, portion, and cost.
When families eat at home, they know the ingredients that have been added to their meals and the
quality of the food. Moreover, they know the cleanliness of where the food has been prepared. At
home, they know if the person preparing has washed his/her hands. When going out to eat, the family
has no idea what happens in the kitchen. Their food could have been spit on, dropped, or even
possibly a hair from a cook could fall into their dish. The quality of food is important to the consumer,
due to if the food does not taste well, more than likely they will not eat it. Also, the restaurant serves
sometimes less quality than what you buy and less quantity. When going out to eat at a restaurant,
people prefer to recieve their money s worth in the food they order. That typically comes down to
portion sizes. as unhealthy as it is, most people do not know the proper portion and tend to eat the
entire meal that is presented to them. While, at home, when families cook the meal themselves, the
portions are smaller due to the recommended serving size of the meal. Most restaurants are guilty of
serving anywhere from double to triple a normal food portion. Portion control is an important part in
food. That makes it important to understand what a recommended serving size is for the food prepared
is, and only ordering that amount. When families prepare their meals at home, they are able to control
what goes on the plate, and what not to eat. Eating out at restaurants are typically portioned
excessively, and some dishes can contain an entire day s worth of calories.
It s hard to beat the convenience of going to a restaurant and having cooks prepare and serve the food
is relaxing and eliminates the hassle of having to cook dinner. On the other hand, there are many great
