The Women Present At Valley Forge
The Women Present at Valley Forge As Abigail Adams will write to her husband John to remember
the ladies during the Continental Congress, so to must we must not forget the many women who
played a vital role here during the winter encampment at Valley forge from 1777 1778. During the
Winter Encampment at Valley Forge there were close 400 women, a ratio 1:44 to the enlisted men.
Officers Wives Martha Washington (1732 1802) During the Revolutionary War Martha joined her
husband for part of each winter encampment he attended, including the 1777 1778 encampment at
Valley Forge. The Valley Forge Encampment was the closest winter encampment from her home in
Mount Vernon during the entire war. Martha arrived Feb 10th and stayed until about June 9th.
Much of her time was spent mending uniforms for her husband and bachelor officers according to
most accounts. She also entertained the wives of other officers present at the encampment and
helped manage the household. On occasion she was directly involved with the headquarters
activities, such as when she entertained Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Pleasant and two other Quaker ladies
who had come to see the General. Pierre Etienne Duponceau, secretary to Baron Von Steuben
wrote, In the midst of all our distress there were some bright sided of the picture which Valley
forge exhibited at that time. Mrs. Washington had the courage to follow her husband to that dismal
abode, and other ladies also graced the scene... (p. 94 Founding Mothers)

A Relationship Between Achievement Motivation And...
2 STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Considering the desire of every nation to industrialize in this
21st century achievement motivation becomes a critical variable. In a bid to achieve this feat, it
is therefore necessary to examine through this research work if there exist a relationship between
achievement motivation and industrial development. A viable work force is germane in the
industrial sector of a country to stimulate industrial growth and prosperity. But the backwardness
in Nigerian today is a concern to the government of the day and the citizenry. Therefore, this
work deemed it imperative to X ray, if there could be an impact of an individual intrinsic
achievement motivation on industrialization. Owing to the fact that high productivity is the goal
every individual and organizations so wished to attain. This has not easily come by. It is
therefore the onus of this research work to unearth if there is a relationship between low
productivity in our industries and achievement motivation on the part of the individual workers.
There is a significant decline in the standard of living of the people, based on available evidence.
Despite government effort at raising the standard of living of the people through industrialization
all the efforts have proved abortive, hence the need for this research. It is therefore crucial to
unravel through this research work if there is a relationship between the declining standard of
living and lack of the spirit of hard work among the Nigerian

The Importance Of Testing For All Software Development...
Over the past few decades, online industry has developed in leaps and bounds. Nowadays, testing
is playing an instrumental role in all software development processes. A good testing program can
help to prevent software defects, reduce the number of bugs, errors, and improve the overall
software quality. Besides, when it comes to testing online, it has been withdrawing more and more
attention from any individuals or organizations who construct and operate websites, such as e
commerce websites, information, customer service websites, blog and so on. They deeply
understand that an optimized website can lead their businesses to a higher position in the
competitive world. On the other hand, a bad website experience might bring significant... Show

Specific and realistic numbers and figures will be assigned to each of the goals, such as
conversion rate, bounces rate, the portion of returning users and new users in a period of time, the
percentage of improvement. In order to set program goals, beside identifying the higher level
business goals and how the testing program can help to achieve those goals, the test organizers can
create micro goals. For example, for content based websites: goals are to increase the number of
visitors signing up, the number of contents downloaded, forwarded or social engagements (shares,
comments); for e commerce sites: the number of accounts created, trial versions downloaded.
However, the test owners must keep in mind the main goals of their general business. For instance,
a test shows an increase in the number of customers sign in to the customer forms, but such
customers become the real customers who actually create conversions. While running a test, the test
manager and testers should focus on the long term goals, because in some circumstances the result
of an individual test might dictate the direction of the long term goals. In such circumstances, they
should not change the goals immediately, but keep optimizing, keep testing until to run all the
possible and optimized scenarios in such period of testing time. Testing goals are set, but before

Effective Management Of Operations And Supply Chain
Introduction Effective management of operations and supply chain is a crucial source of
competitive advantage for any business in a rigorously competitive environment. Operations
management generally denotes the process of managing a firm s resources with the ultimate aim of
delivering value to the customer (Krajewski, Ritzman Malhotra, 2013). To stay ahead of the
competition, an organisation must constantly strive to transform its operations it must seek to
eliminate inefficiencies in the supply chain. This report compares the operations of 99p Stores and
Sainsbury s fulfilment process. Sainsbury, which was founded more than one and a half centuries
ago, is one of the most popular retailers in the UK, commanding the third largest market share after
Tescoand Asda (Christie, 2013). 99p Stores is also a retailer that operates in the UK, though it is
quite smaller compared to Sainsbury. While Sainsbury has been doing online retailingsince 1996,
99p Stores is currently in the process of testing the viability of online retailing.
Operations Transformation The primary aim of any transformation process is to deliver value to the
customer. From primary activities such as raw material acquisition and marketing to support
activities such as procurement and human resource management, an organisation aims to create
value for the end consumer. Transforming these operations is vital for survival in an environment
characterised by stiff competition. Some of the operations

Relations Between Iran and US Essay
In 1979, protests erupted across the nation against the government of Shah Mohammad Reza
Pahlavi. This was triggered by the domination of foreign policy, the exploitation of Iran s resources
and wealth by foreign firms, corruption and oppressive regime. The Shah s government s close ties
with the United States and Israel, his oppressive methods and his program of Westernization were
unpopular with the Iranian people. They therefore turned to the ulama as an alternative. Ayatollah
Ruhollah Khomeini, in exile in Paris, distributed cassette tapes of his speeches to many of the
partakers in the protests. The protests were eventually included under the umbrella of Shiite Islam.
The Shah was eventually overthrown and sent to exile. Ayatollah... Show more content on

The politicization of the concepts of Shi ism was first presented by Ayatollah Khomeini s concept
of velayat e faqih (the governance of jurisprudence). According to this concept, the Supreme
Leader (vali e faqih) is the legal leader of the Islamic community and, thus, he is equal to the
imam. The velayat e faqih has been the main principle of the Islamic Republic of Iran s political
structure since the revolution.
This Shiite component is a very important element of foreign policy as it is what forms Iranian
identity, along with Iranian nationalism. Shi ism is very different from Sunni Islam. It is
infinitely more religious and plays a much larger role in people s daily lives. It is because of this
that even the most secular of the political groups that partook in the revolution were still very
much religious. After the coup staged by the CIA against Mossadeq, who attempted to
nationalize the oil industry, the United States became highly unpopular with the Iranian people
and was viewed as a counterforce to Iranian nationalism. This strongly Shiite identity is also why
the referendum resulted in the establishment of an Islamic Republic. It is also important as it set
one of Iran s major foreign policy goals and has been a driving force for many of its strategic
decisions in the region. Following the establishment of the Islamic Republic, Iran severed ties
with Israel, a far cry from what relations had been like, and even ceased to recognize it as an

Edgar Allan Poe s Leathery
Streaks of shimmering sunlight filtered through a golden canopy of trees, casting elegant shadows
to dance across the mossy verdure. The lush grass was invested with thriving insects that swarmed
on the ground like an overcrowded marketplace. The crickets made a harmonious song that echoed
throughout the forest, almost in sync with the repetitive calls of exotic animals that were crawling
through shrubbery and soaring high in the leafy giants. Leathery leaves brushed against each other
in the feeble breeze, almost as if they were whispering in hushed tones whilst squirrels ran and
frolicked in the bushes.
A balmy smell lingered in the humid air, mixing with the scent of damp earth. Flowers were dotted
across the luscious forest floor; their enticing fragrance leaving an odd taste in their wake. Vines
twisted up the trees, reaching magnificent heights though some hung down like curtains, hiding
parts of the forest away in darkness. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The essence of rain became more prominent as the trees began to clash and crash against each
other like drumsticks in the hands of a giant. All of a sudden, a turbulent roar drowned out all the
boisterous cries of animals, followed closely by a dazzling fork of lightening. Soon enough, water
was cascading from the heavens in a torrent of rain, teaming up with the howl of wind that weaved
through the clattering oaks. Monkeys darted in and out of the treetops, trying to find the best place
to take shelter. The raindrops fell heavily, hitting the trees with such force that many leaves had also

Comparing The Egyptians And The Mesopotamians Essay

Comparing the Egyptians and the Mesopotamians
Egyptians and the Mesopotamians were neolithic civilizations. They both grew crops and they both
relied on agriculture and had many rulers as time went on. We start at Egypt
In 3100 B.C and Mesopotamians at 5000 B.C (1). The Nile river was a key place for the start of
the Ancient Egyptian empire. Egyptians themselves were located near lower Egypt closeby the
Nile Delta. They then slowly moved up around upper egypt. With clear fertile and rich soil,
agriculture was most efficient and made the Ancient Egyptians very rich. Mesopotamians also had
their own rivers known as the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers which were rich in soil for farming.
Mesopotamians were located around Zagros Mountains and located inside the Persian gulf.
Mesopotamians were Mediterraneans. Egyptians and the Mesopotamians were very alike. Equal
rights between men and women existed in both of the empires societies. (2). This is important
because the demographics of females were not small in Ancient Egypt and Ancient Mesopotamia.
Also, the religion of both empires were polytheistic (Meaning many gods ) (2). Because the gods
controlled Egypt and Mesopotamia through land and power, people dedicated a large portion of
their time to the gods. An example is that temples

Archduke Franz Ferdinand Assassination Research Paper
Just over a hundred years ago an event that shaped the whole future for the 20th and 21st century
went down. Heir to the Austria Hungary Empire, Franz Ferdinand was assassinated. This wasn t
just another act of violence, the assassination was done for legit reason. The Serbian nationalist
Gavrilo Princip is name of the assassin who completed this contract. He did it for the betterment and
freedom of his country.
The Archduke Franz Ferdinand heir to the Austria Hungarian Empire was in Sarajevoto inspect the
imperial armed forces. When touring the town in his limousine along with his wife Sophia, one

This is considered to be one of the deadliest conflicts in human history. Gavrilo not only managed
to kill Ferdinand but caused the deaths of as many as 18 million others by the end of this World
War. This war is among one of the deadliest conflicts in human history. Later on, this ultimately led
the American Great Depression and the second World War. If this assassination led to something
as massive as two World Wars the reason behind it must ve been really important. In the southern
part of Austria Hungary there was a region called Bosnia. Many of the people there wanted to
become their own country and not be under control by Austria Hungary. Another country known as
Serbia also wanted the Bosnians to be free and were willing to help. When Ferdinand announced
that he was going to travel to Sarajevo the Bosnian nationalists saw their chance to attack Austria
Hungary. Assassins were quickly recruited in an attempt to assassinated the Archduke while he
traveled the streets. These assassins were members of a group called the Black

routine accounting are contracted out. Members of the BOD, and other volunteers, continue to help
with membership, fundraising, stewardship, and new project evaluation.
The BOD is extremely concerned that the CWC be managed so that it is sustainable. The
commitments of land trusts are, by their very nature, long term (actually perpetual). Therefore, the
CWC must ensure that their business plan and budget will ensure their long term survival.
The Current Situation
The Executive Director is formulating an Operating Budget recommendation for the next year. He
has made a series of assumptions based on previous year performance and expectations about the
coming year. He is particularly concerned about increased energy costs and a likely recession that
may hold down contributions and foundation support. The CWC wants to budget for a 5% (of total
expense) surplus to provide protection against unforeseen events.
Your role is to prepare the budget for the following (next) year based on the assumptions adopted
by the Executive Director and the budget for the current year. You will also be asked to analyze the
results of those budget assumptions. Assumptions for NEXT budget year:
Revenue: Special events will increase by 20% due to a new event. Contributions will increase by

The Effects Of Bleaching On Coral Reefs
Across the world s beautiful oceans, there is a vast and marvelous selection of coral reefs all of
which house copious species of coral. Many of these coral are the key element in a marine
ecosystem by providing food, shelter and protection for the underwater community. However, this
ecosystem is threatened due to the events of coralbleaching, as this event kills the coral and the
creatures dependent on them. Without coral, these creatures will become more vulnerable and
may be at risk of endangerment or extinction. Bleaching doesn t just affect the ecosystem it can
also cause a lot of damage to local towns and tourist points whose livelihoods depend on their
beautiful reefs. Some have already taken action to help prevent bleaching, but what should we do?
What can we do to prevent this phenomenon before it s too late?
Many species of coral are magnificent and beautiful to all who observe it, but when a coral
becomes bleached it loses its color and beauty and changes into a sad pale shade of white. How can
once beautiful coral become wiped clean of its elegance in such a short period of time? Coral is a
simple organism that is created by many layers of calcium to build a frame and typically have a
symbiotic relationship between it and a certain algae called zooxanthellae . These microscopic
organisms live deep in the pores of the corals tissue and provide the coral with a steady source of
food and protection form disease. Corals live in very nutrient poor waters and

Symbolism In Stephanie Myer s The Host
The Host is a novel written by Stephanie Myer that uses symbolism, theme, and character foils
to capture the reader s attention. This book is about our planet Earth being taken by aliens
called souls. They are planted into the human brain and they control our bodies like parasites.
The remaining humans stay hidden from the invaders and try to stay alive. By using these three
literary devices, Stephanie Myers makes the reader ask questions about themselves and shows
that right and wrong is gray rather than black and white. The title is the first symbolism in the
story. In a parasitism relationship, there is a host and a victim. The souls are hosts of the
humans, and when they are taken over, they slowly disappear from existence. The only way to
tell the difference between humans and souls is the eyes. A human body that s been taken over
by a soul has a ring of silver around the pupil. The eyes are symbolic of what it means to be
human. The cave symbolizes a womb, specifically the cave they put her in as a prisoner when she
first gets to the humans. At first it is a prison... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wanderer is a soul that has taken over Melanie s body, but Melanie refuses to disappear. Her
memories become Wanderer s memories; she loves the people Melanie does. Stephanie Myer uses
character foils between these two characters to create interest. Wanderer is gentle and kind, while
Melanie is a fighter, used to running and killing to stay alive. The biggest difference is that they
are of a different species, they do things differently. Wanderer is used to travelling from planet to
planet and living as a host to many different species, while Melanie only knows Earth and her
human way of life. Wanderer has never had a reason to settle down on one planet, she has never felt
the powerful human emotion until she comes to Earth. These critical differences show that even
the most polar people can work together and find

Kingdom and Australia are gaining on the United States and have higher retention rates
(Burkholder Holland, 2014). Moreover, these nations have clearly defined national policies to
improve the recruitment and retention of international students, which the United States lacks

Findings
First, international students have identified numerous concerns about their academic endeavors in
the U.S. These students found it difficult to participate in class discussions, to find others to
collaborate with, and to understand degree requirements. In contrast, classroom lectures,
textbooks, and tests in English were not as much of a concern. As expected, undergraduate

year before the publishing of his book Paris de Nuit , a collection of night photographies of the
French capital, mostly representing empty gardens and streets in the rain and fog. The picture,

In the scene we can see the main element, a monument representing the illustrious French military

Undoubtedly, without that luminous minutia, the picture wouldn t have the same appeal. The
photo is generally soft, since it doesn t convey plenty of details (given the evident atmospheric
disturbances) but when focusing on the main physical components present in the scene, in
particular, the intricate decor on the fringe of the fence, it is possible to notice an unexpected
sharpness, probably achieved with more precision in post production. Because of that, the use of
colours and lights appears to be particularly relevant. The exploitation of hidden backlight sources
in this night photography gives the perception of a much stronger and dramatic contrast, enriching
the smooth grayscale palette used for the background. The boldly black silhouette stands out
majestically in the dense grey mist, and the letters of the sign appear with some sort of mystic
grandeur, also acting as a key light point. It s impossible not to focus on them and not to notice
their evident difference, their belonging to different worlds .The depiction of neon is also
significant: this kind of light is blueish and extremely cold. Consequently, it s the complete
opposite of the typical warm light provided by lampposts, always used to portray Paris by night to
convey a sense of romanticism.
Moreover, the picture is not exactly frontal, as the angle of the fence suggests: this slight curvature

Characteristics Of Magnet Schools
Magnet schools are a fantastic idea when viewed from a large spectrum, however the system
remains slightly skewed. Northern Hartford is 80% Black and Latino. Many of the students that
attend magnet schools represent these ethnicities. However, there are still parents searching for a
better academic option for their children as they attend the inner city public schools that exemplify
all of the characteristics discussed before: poor educators, run down buildings, and merely an
inadequate quality of education. These parents try very hard to enroll their children into the magnet
schools, but unfortunately, 50% of these ethnic children are on a waitlist. Once again, white
children are prioritized.
Officials of these magnet schools go out of their way to seek out white children to attend these
magnet schools in order to meet the quota, and yes, it creates a diverse environment, but these white
children, again, are given additional opportunities. If a white child and his or her parent do not like
the magnet school, they can easily attend their neighborhood school which is usually highly
accredited. On the contrary, for Black and Latino children of Northern Hartford, the magnet school
is their one and only opportunity to escape the inadequate, segregated, public school system, and
yet, these children are the ones on the waitlist.
Overall, magnet schools provide an opportunity for success to children of all ethnicities. It exposes
them to diversity and broadens their views of greater society. Children are likely to perform well
due to the extensive resources provided in these magnet schools such as the vivarium and
planetarium in the magnet school for environmental sciences. Not only is it beneficial for the
children, but it demonstrates to parents who grew up in white, suburban, areas with one or two
black children that diversity is good, that these children are just like any others but with a different
skin tone. Integration aids in ridding the idea of racism and stereotypes. Ultimately, it is the
solution for a myriad of societal issues. In the establishment of magnet schools, the existing
diversity exemplifies symbolic interactionism between the children. Through their interactions, each
student is

Everyman Morality
Everyman is a medieval morality play that depicts the events preceding the death and ascension
into heaven of an individual named Everyman , in allegorical fashion. Ambling along a road,
Everyman is approached unexpectedly by Death who comes to fulfill the wishes of God and bring
Everyman to eternal judgment. Everyman then proceeds to implore Death for more time on Earth,
but is only effective in gaining permission to get his affairs in order. After unsuccessfully pleading
with his Good deeds to accompany him to the presence of God, Everyman arrives at the realization
with the aid of Knowledge that he must confess his sins and ask God for forgiveness to be
accepted into heaven. Everyman, as a work, teaches the reader that death is inevitable,... Show more

When Everyman meets with Death while walking on the road, Death introduces himself by
stating, I am Death, that no man dreadeth (does not discriminate). For every man I rest (arrest)
and no man spareth. For it is God s commandment that all to me should be obedient. This is
indeed true, as all, regardless of title or economic status, will one day meet death and face the
Eternal Judge, God. Furthermore, Everyman teaches that one must prepare for death. When
Everyman is made aware of Death s purpose towards him, he states, O Death, thou comest when I
had thee least in mind. Clearly, Everyman was not prepared Death states in the beginning of the
work: Lo, yonder I see Everyman walking: full little he thinketh on my coming. For those who
are not prepared when death does come, the eternal consequences are severe. Third, Everyman
teaches that salvation is gained by good works, which when compared to what the Word of God
states, is a fallacy. When allowed by Death to get his affairs in order, Everyman first goes to his
Good deeds to help him, but she cannot because she is weighed down by his sins. After
Everyman confesses his sins and repents, his Good deeds accompany him to heaven, and
Knowledge states, The Good deeds shall make all sure. Biblically, this is incorrect as Romans
10:9 declares, If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God

The United Farm Workers Association Improve The Conditions...
To what degree did the United Farm Workers Association improve the conditions of farmworkers in
California.
Introduction:
In 1910 mexicans fled from Mexico to work in agriculture in America, they labored in inhumane
conditions and the people they worked for ignored state laws on working conditions (Tavaana).
This is how the farm workers would work before the United Farm WorkersUnion came along.
They didn t have the rights they deserved, they were treated however the growers would like to
treat them because they would go around the law and do what they wanted. Farm workers didn t
have unions and the rights that they do now back in 1910. Research has been done on this topic
on how them migrating started, on how they were treated, and how it has gotten better over the
years. This topic is important because it discusses some of the history of Mexican immigrants. It
also demonstrates some challenges they went through when they came to the United States to find
work. My study of the topic is important because it will give some background information on
how the farm workers were brought and how they were treated. After I will bring in Cesar Chavez
and his contributions to helping the farm workers. Lastly I will be talking about his negative
contribution which isn t talked about that often and comparing it with the positive. My
investigation fits into broader questions in the subject because it is taking two different points of
views and comparing them to each other. I choose

Each and everyone of us go day in and day out making decisions. Some of these decisions that we

Negative Effects Of Foster Care
The foster care system in America negatively affects the lives of adolescents in the system
mentally and physically. On any given day there are over 428,000 children in foster care and
more than 20,000 kids age out of foster care with no permanent family; therefore, they are being
left behind socially, educationally, mentally, and under developed for the real world. Foster care
first started in the nineteen hundreds when Charles Loring Brace created the Children s Aid
Society in New York. Then later on the 1900 s, social agencies started to supervise and pay the
foster children s sponsors. However, back in foster care s history and still today, the kids in the

John Bowlby And John Bowlby s Attachment Theory
This study focused on the Attachment theory in which it is stated how attachment is a deep and
enduring emotional bond that connects one person to another across time and space (Ainsworth,
1973; Bowlby, 1969).
Attachment theory is a theory that s connected to psychology, studied first by John Bowlby. It
explains the relevance of getting attached to something in an individual s development. It is
observed among children relying on their parents for stability, and that there is an existing need for
them due to such reliance.
The attachment theory is most commonly observed in the parent child scenario, as it is in Bowlby
s study which regarded the existence of the attachment as a child needing some sort of person to

Breaking or disrupting of the attachment figure during the critical two year period would lead to
the child possibly suffering irreversible long term consequences of this maternal deprivation. Risks
continuing till the age of five.
Bowlby used the term maternal deprivation , referring to separation of loss of the mother and
failure to develop an attachment. The main idea stating simply that the first few years of an infant
is critical and separation or disruption can leave effects on the child.
The third point is that the long term consequences of maternal deprivation might consist of
delinquency, reduced intelligence, increased aggression, depression and affectionless psychopathy.
The last being an inability to show affection or concern towards others, for example a lack of guilt
for anti social behavior.
The fourth point comes from Robertson as well as Bowlby (1952), in which they believe that short
term separation from attachment figure leads to distress. They discovered 3 progressive stages for
distress, Protest, Despair and

Gender Roles And Social Norms
The media is currently largely responsible in creating and reminding people of the existence of
gender roles and social norms, which consequently influences children. Aside from media, parents
are the most responsible in the upbringing of their child. That being said, parents can choose to
control what they teach their child and steer them away from the societal norms of certain gender
roles, but they don t have control over the media s content. Sometimes, parents can t help if they

it and they themselves were raised to understand that girls are supposed to like this and do that and

When it comes to advertisements promoting certain toys and products to children, companies are
not afraid to advertise gender targeted products, because they know children are vulnerable. A
2017 study report titled Gendered Advertising to Children: An Analysis of Differences in Male
and Female Targeted Television Commercials written by Meredith Ford mentioned that, When
children realize that the toys they see advertised are only meant for one gender, they latch on to
that group of children and do not socialize with the other gender. This sets a detrimental precedent
for child development and socialization skills. When children are exposed to media at a young
age, their brains first start to develop and they learn to adapt to their environment. As soon as the
child is fully developed, however, there is no way of causing them to forget what they learned or
were surrounded with whether it was something good or bad. Additionally, and interestingly,
children are capable without even realizing that they are pushing themselves away from the other
gender because they were vulnerable to learn from the media that their gender is only supposed to
like what they are advertising and not the other genders products. Sure they may come to the
realization that some of the

Comparing Oedipus and Job Essay
Classical literature is filled with stories of capricious deities playing with human lives as if they
were only toys. The Greek tradition of tragedy is based upon celebrating this very aspect of the
nature of the pantheon of Greek gods. Sophocles finds a perfect example of this celebration of fate,
in the tragedy Oedipus the King. Conversely, the Story of Job uses the dramatic tension of a wager
between Godand Satan on the sincerity of Job s devotion to God. Where Oedipus life, regardless
of personal choice, is bound up by fated situations and their fated outcomes, Job s story is one of
choice in the midst of supernaturally imposed difficulties. While both strive to teach resignation to
the will of God, they each espouse quite... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
/ Even if I should shroud it all in silence. (321) This expresses a notion of fated beginnings and
fated endings. The view of fate the book of Job expresses, though similar in that it originates from
God, differs in a few important ways. In Job, situations are predetermined to occur, but the personal
choices of the people involved determine the outcome of the situation. The story of Job opens with
Job s fate of suffering being planned. Satan presents himself in an audience before God. God
makes example of Job, and Satan rebuffs, stating that Job s constancy is only because of God s
preferential treatment. Satan tells God, But put forth thy hand now and touch all he hath, and
he will curse thee to thy face. (40). In response, power is given to Satan to torment Job as a test.
Job s life and finally health are viciously mangled and destroyed by Satan. Though Job does not
know the reasons behind his great suffering, we are told that In all this Job sinned not, nor
charged God foolishly. (41), and In all this did not Job sin with his lips. (41). Self pity creeps into
Job s thoughts and words, but there is no disenchanted turn from God. Instead in Job the reader
sees a turn to God for relief and

Even in situations where the copper is recovered and the etchant is regenerated by the waste hauler,

1.3 Disposal of electronic equipments
Electronic equipment is considered hazardous because of the presence of lead, mercury, cadmium,
chromium, and some types of retardants. For example, some monitors can contain up to 27% lead.
There are four main ways which electronic equipment can be disposed. They are incineration,
resale, donation and recycling.
Destruction of electronics equipment means incineration. Businesses are allowed to dispose of
their hazardous waste in this manner, but the destruction then falls under more restrictive hazardous
waste rules. The incineration process yields some environmentally dirty residue and it is thus not an
entirely green option.
Superficially, resale, looks like a good option. It generates profits for the company, the buyers are
happy, and the electronics are disposed of. However, liability and administration concerns become
an issue. Properly administering a sales program takes time and paperwork, and one has to
consider whether used electronics sales are really what the company is in business to do.
Donation is also a valid option. However, electronics are classified as hazardous

Problems such as breastfeeding, marital or relationship issues, feeling inadequate, and not having
the social support can all add to the stress factors that could potentially lead and contribute to
postpartum depression (Postpartum Depression, 357). Primary Care Physicians are ultimately more
likely to make the diagnosis of PPD over their obstetrician since they usually have a more solid
foundation and trust built up after being seen there more frequently. A test is given to women
around eight to twelve weeks postpartum in order to determine the likelihood of postpartum
depression and overall health of the mother (Postpartum Depression, 358 359). Another scholarly
journal I found was Disorganized attachment in early childhood: Meta analysis of precursors,
concomitants, and sequelae by Marinus H van Ijzendoorn, Carlo Schuengel, and Marian J.
Bakermans Kranenburg published by Cambridge University. The journal describes how a mother s
postpartum depression affects the mental development of the child as well as their own attachment

disregarding the quality of that care. The effect on infants whose mother went through postpartum

Risk Of Loss From Insurance Companies Essay
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
1.1Background of the study
In life, losses are sometimes unavoidable. People may become ill and lose income or savings to
pay off medical bills. Individuals or their relatives may die of illness or accidents. People s homes
or other property may suffer damage or theft. All these activities in the environment of man are
subject to the risk of loss from unforeseen events. To lessen this burden on humans, insurance
companies are formed and existed for decades with a common goal of pooling related risks and
offering a cushion to the unforeseen circumstances. To expand the coverage of life insurance
products, life insurance companies have recently begun offering complex policies with embedded
options. Among them is the participating policies with interest rate guarantees and surrender
options. Bacinello (2001), defined participating policy as a contract in which the policyholder is
entitled to a share of the excess profit if the realized interest rate during the insurance period is
above the assumed interest rate. The policy mechanism enables the insured to receive dividends
(bonuses) in addition to the assured payments implied by the guaranteed interest rate. Owing to the
existence of the interest rate guarantee, the policy has some features that resembles the European
call options. This property is included in most real life life insurance contracts in Ghana. There are
numerous ways in which this profit sharing is realized. The usual approach is to

Persuasive Essay On Prejudice And Discrimination
When someone thinks of the word prejudice, he or she might think the word only refers to racial
prejudice between those of different skin colors or looks. However, that is not the case. Prejudice
goes deeper than that. Prejudices and stereotypes are usually negative thoughts or beliefs that
people place on each other based on differences, such as religion, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity,
gender, or geographic location. Recently, Muslims have been a huge target for prejudice and
discrimination. Ever since the incident of 9/11, when a terrorist group purposely crashed planes into
the World Trade Center, Muslims have never been treated the same. That is reflected with the
introduction of various bills and legislation, the implementation of stricter immigration laws, and
the addition of stricter airport laws policies. Although I do think we can reduce the amount of
prejudice in our societies among Muslims, I do not believe that prejudice and discrimination will
ever completely go away.
Islamophobia, the irrational fear or dislike against Islam or Muslims, very much existed before the 9
/11 attacks; however, it increased drastically across the world after that horrible incident. Due to the
increase of national fear in the United States after the attacks, immigration laws became much
stricter. One author states that these laws were put into place by the USA Patriot Act, the Enhanced
Border Security and Visa Entry Reform Act, and many others (Villemez, 2). According to

Aguero Sisters Cultural Identity
The AgГјero Sisters, a novel by Christina GarcГa, explores the desire to understand and connect
with one s past through memory, specifically calling attention to those that evoke feelings such as
dislocation and loss. Through these concepts, the AgГјero family longs to identify with the Cuban
nation they once called home. In this context, GarcГa rewrites cultural identity as one that
transcends borders and is further maintained through personal memory.
Through her portrayal of the characters of Constancia AgГјero and Reina AgГјero, GarcГa captures
the experience of those whose lives were changed through separation from their Cuban nation.
While both of the AgГјero sisters ultimately left Cuba at some point in their lives, both Constancia

Constancia enjoyed the disconnect New York created between her and her memories of Cuba, but
has to face the reality that in Miami, Constancia assumes a renewed sense of Cuban consciousness.
Constancia soon finds that every aspect of Miami reminds her of her short lived childhood in Cuba:
The light is blinding too, a sentence to the past, to her life in Cuba. Everywhere there is a mass of
disquieting details... The accent of the valet who parks her car. Her seamstress old fashioned
stitching. And the songs, slow as regret... (GarcГa 46).
Constancia s sense of loss rests in her description of Miami as a mass of disquieting details and
its blinding light. While she tried for many years to shelter herself from feeling the loss of her
mother, her childhood, and above all, her home, the similarity of Miami s geography and societal
norms forces her to recognize her true cultural identity. Being situated in a place similar to that of
Cuba is unsettling for Constancia as she listens to the music broadcasted on the radio. She
describes this music as to embody notions of regret , symbolizing the overreaching desire of Cuban
Americans to return to a world that no longer exists as they once knew it.
Themes of dislocation and loss through memory are also apparent in the transition of Constancia s
physical appearance to be identical to that of her mother s. Constancia s past creeped into her life

Coimbatore Essay
Coimbatore My enriching companion.
A human life consists of about 30,000 sunshine days during which time he builds multitudinal
relationships with family, friends, colleagues, acquaintances and strangers. Today I write about an
extraordinary relationship, one I share with a city called Coimbatore. My uncommon choice is not
due to a lack of human interactions but is a result of the breadth of my relationship with the city
and the enriching influence it has had on my life.
A metro city in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu, Coimbatore is a multi dimensional textile
haven. A young bride, I came to Coimbatore in 1993, ready to embark on an exciting journey that
encompassed a new home, new city and a new individual in my life, my husband.
Our manufacturing unit in Karur was a two hour drive from the city. The strenuous highway
commute meant that Manish was a weekend husband, shuttling between the mill and the city. I

Further divided into east and west zones, the parallel lanes had large row houses that shared
common walls. The construction was a dead give away of the interdependent nature of the society.
Shall we move on ? asked Loka.
Hmm, I responded.
Driving further north we arrived at Raja Steet, the silk hub of the city. The narrow market street
had stores on either side, some large showrooms, others singular stalls. Intrigued, I went to Shobha
Sarees. For the wedding, I had visited a number of such showrooms in Mumbai and Kolkatta but
the service I received at Shobha was second to none. The attendants dutifully displayed their wares,
meekly waiting for me to decide. In the 30 minutes I spent there, I discovered that women were
treated with utmost respect in the city. In hindsight, I might even add that they were truly revered.
To know Coimbatore, you must know its food Ma Loka chirped.

Nuclear Weapons Technology And Its Impact On The...
This project will discuss nuclear weapons technology and its impact on the Treaty on the
Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons, also known as the NPT (Nonproliferation Treaty). The
Treaty covers three main pillars: disarmament, nonproliferation, and peaceful uses of nuclear
energy. It was signed in 1968 due to concern that the safety of the planet was at risk by having a
high number of nuclear weaponstates. After the United States bombed the cities of Hiroshima and
Nagasaki using vastly destructive nuclear fission bombs, it became apparent that the States and
possibly other countries could divert resources towards weapons rather than peaceful uses of
nuclear energy. Thus, nuclear weaponry prompted the creation of the Treaty.
Since the development of the first nuclear weapons technology by the Manhattan Project of the
United States in 1945, nuclear proliferation has been a major global concern. The Manhattan
Project was an undertaking involving the development of nuclear fission bombs, also known as
atom bombs. Atom bombs use a hollow bullet of enriched uranium shot into a target made of the
same element, initiating a nuclear chain reaction that releases vast amounts of energy. The bombs
created by the Manhattan Project were called Little Boy and Fat Man, and were used on the
Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, respectively. This effectively ended World War II in
1945 after Japan was forced to surrender, but it also caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of

Ezra-Nehemiah
The inspiration for Bede s reform program comes from a pattern that can be found in the book of
Ezra Nehemiah which can be conveniently divided into three sections. Each of these sections
deals with a similar situation and issues: a return from exile which includes projects of
restoration and reform. Today modern English translations of the Bible print the text of Ezra
Nehemiah as two distinct books. By having Ezra and Nehemiah as separate books was not always
the way in which these texts were written; they were traditionally combined into one book in the
Hebrew and Greek Bibles. However, by considering them as one document, it will help to make it
much easier to understand the book in its three parts. The first portion of Ezra Nehemiah... Show

Bede begins by levelling a list of grievances that he has regarding the state of the episcopate in
Northumbria. According to him, the bishops were neglecting their duties such as preaching,
teaching, visitations, and confirmation. There was also a general decline in the moral
behaviour of bishops. Bede mentions this in his letter when he writes that they are given to
laughter, jokes, idle tales, feasting and drunkenness and other attractions of a loose way of life.
Bishops would typically only preach if they received money for it, which led to a spiritual
impoverishment for the laity. The laypeople lacked adequate instruction in the faith not only
because of the waywardness of bishops but also because there were not enough priests to give a
good example to the laity to imitate. Another abuse that Bede objects to is the unjust taxation of
the lay faithful and any other forms of clerical avarice. Many remote farms, hamlets, and small
villages were neglected by their bishop; they were still, however, expected to pay their ecclesial
taxes. Bede also mentions that there simply are not enough dioceses in Northumbria, which would
help to resolve the laity s lack of spiritual education. The reason why bishops were opposed to the
creation of new sees is that larger dioceses... maximize[d] the dues [or taxes that could be] exacted

Genovese Crime Family Research Paper
Where it all began.
The Genovese Crime Family was formed in 1892 in the Bronx and East Harlem. Originally
named the 107th Street gang it was founded by Guiseppe Morello and Ignazio the Wolf Lupo.
The gang became formally known as the Morello Gang, which took part in extortion,
kidnappings, and robberies. The gang had worked closely with the Camorra for years, but
because of territory issues they soon separated. When Morello and Lupo went to jail for
extortion in 1909 the Camorra decided to kill off any Morello members. Camorra had lost the
war, but the Morello gang had lost the new boss Nicholas Morello and couldn t regain its power
again. Joseph Masseria took advantage and grabbed control over surviving members His power

There he aligned himself with Benito Mussolini and gave him large amounts of money to fund his
fascist government, including building a monument in his honor. Even though Mussolini had strife
with the Mafia, he was okay with letting Genovese operate his drug trafficking. It was not long,
however, before Genovese was identified as an American fugitive and was brought to New York
to stand trial for the murder of Boccia (2007, p. 112). Two people testified against him, Ernet
Rupolo and Peter LaTempa. LaTempa was poisoned and Rupolo testimony wouldn t be enough to
convict Genovese. The lack of evidence acquitted him and he walked free. (p.

Using Oil And Its Byproducts
INTRODUCTION
Throughout the years mankind has been using oil and its byproducts as a means of propulsion.
However, we live in a world of finite resources and as oil is depleting it is necessary to find
different resources. Using electricity as means of propulsion instead of internal combustion engines
which is the current trend in most mechanical applications such as those in cars, ships and
airplanes is what the world has deemed to be a solution to the over use of oil and its byproducts.
Electricity is a resource which is significantly cleaner to the environment than that of oil, especially
if generated by green means such as solar power, wind energy, etc.
With this concept in mind, airplanes, which provide a means of transportation, ... Show more

THE MORE ELECTRIC AIRCRAFT
The more electric aircraft (MEA) is a concept which describes the use of electronics in the
existing airplane designs. As per (Kostakis, et al., 2014) cabin pressurization, air conditioning
and anti ice wing protection require pneumatic power, flight surface actuation, landing gear and
breaking require hydraulic power, and finally, engine fuel and oil pumps require mechanical
power. Electrical power is limited to cabin lights, fans and avionics. However, on a MEA
electrical power is used to power some or all the above mentioned loads. Additionally, two new
technological features are incorporated on a MEA, the bleed less engine and the electrical self
start of the engine. In a bleed less engine, all of the air intake is converted into thrust, without it
having to be bypassed away from the compressors, as it would in a conventional engine, to power
pneumatic loads. Bleed air is still required on the engine for operability reasons, but by reducing
the amount of bleed air required, this could allow the removal of some heavy equipment such as
fans and ducts, and provides potential improvements in engine reliability. This architectural shift
has brought benefits such as weight reduction, optimized performance and reduced life cycle costs
for the plane operator. Nonetheless, the increase in on board electrical energy

Literature Review Of The Nile Perch
Abstract
The Nile Perch is a freshwater fish mostly found and spread out in the Afrotropic ecozone. It
feeds on fish including its own kind, and other small fish such as minnows and shrimp. It
sometimes even feeds on small insects and brush that is found in the water. Which makes it an
invasive species in just about any lake it is introduced into. It is a great food fish and is also popular
to fisherman because it attacks attacks fishing lures.
Literature Review
Before being introduced into lake Victoria, the Nile Perch was mainly found spread out over the
Afrotropic ecozone. It is native to many river basins as in lake Chad and the Nile river it was
also found in Lake Maryut in the northern part of Egypt. The Nile was introduced to Lake Victoria
to try and help boost the fishing industry but little did they know it was going to cause many of
problems with other fish and insects in the water.
The Nile Perch is part of the fish family known as Latidae. It is a silver color with a blue like
fade. It has dark black eyes, with a yellow outer ring surrounding them. The Adult Nile perch can
occupy just about any kind of habitat as long as it has plenty of oxygen but the younger ones
tend to like the shallower parts of the water or anything that is close to the shore. It was
introduced into lake victoria in the 1950 s and has been a ecological problem ever since. It can
grow up to 6 feet and as big as 500 pounds. It gives commercial fisherman a fish to catch because it

International Financial Reporting Standards
Abercrombie Fitch uses generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) as the basis for the
production of its financial statements. In contrast, Hennes Mauritz (H M) uses international
financial report standards (IFRS). H M also utilizes Swedish GAAP. For its annual report, there is
no indication of what standard is used, and there are no official financial statements. H M does not
note what auditing standards it uses in its annual report. By contrast, the ANF Form 10 K notes that
the company s auditors use the Internal Control Integrated Framework as laid out by the
Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO), as noted on page
100 of the 2011 Annual Report.
There are significant differences between the annual reports presented on the websites. On a
fundamental level, the Abercrombie report consists of the 10 K. This is a formal document with
consistent formatting as prescribed by the Securities and Exchange Commission. There is a
substantial amount of information contained within this report. The H M report is the exact
opposite. It is an informal report, oriented towards visuals, and does not appear to have a consistent
format for financial statements. Ostensibly, the company uses IFRS for the compilation of
statements, but those statements do not make their way into the report that the company publishes
online. If the company publishes a formal accounting statements, it does not have those readily
available. Even for previous years,

Holmes And Watson Research Paper
There are a string of dynamic duos that fight crime throughout history, from Batman and Robin
to Starsky and Hutch, and somewhere along the list is the pairing of Sherlock Holmes and
Watson and there is no doubt that this pairing is an interesting one. They seem like such
opposites but that is a big factor in why they work so well together. It works because it embodies
the old time saying: opposites attract . Sherlock is this detective genius that does not feel things or
really understand the people around him so he has Watson to fall back on. In a way they teach
each other. Holmes helps Watson become a better detective while Watson teaches Holmes how to
interact with the outside world. It is said that this pairing was one of Doyle s greatest... Show more

It would only take a few pages for the brilliant Sherlock Holmes to solve the mystery and tell his
readers his decision. Also with the way he speaks and his mannerisms most people might not
even be able to translate Holmes s language into something the everyday populous can
understand. This means that the risk of the stories fading out and never being remembered is a
very real possibility. On the other side of the coin, if everything was only seen and told from
Watson s point of view there would not be a very mysterious element about it. For example,
when he is staying with Sir Henry at the moor the story seems to drag because he only notices
the obvious things that seem to be odd. If this was all the story had to offer the audience might
dislike Watson just as much as they would a solo Holmes. Some things that work well together do
not work very well apart. This pairing is definitely one of those

The Role of Native and MГ©tis Women in the Western Fur Trade
Final Research Paper The Role of Native and MГ©tis Women In the Western Fur Trade Over time,
the power that Native women held with in their tribe has unfortunately digressed. During the age of
exploration Native women have played key roles in the western fur trade. Native women assisted
the fur traders by being liaison between the Europeans and Natives. This role was fundamental in
strengthening trade increasing the economic stability of the post. They acted as guides for the
European traders who often found themselves in dangerous and unfamiliar territory. Finally, they

Before the Europeans came to Canada, Natives had their own culture, traditions and norms.
These differences were obvious to the Europeans who sailed to Canada, their interactions with
the Native peoples proved these vast differences. One major difference noted was that the
Iroquois organized their societies on different lines than did the patrilineal western Europeans.
Iroquois women by virtue of her functions as wife and mother, exercised an influence but little
short of despotic, not only in the wigwam but also around the council fire. She indeed possessed
and exercised all civil and political power and authority. The country, the land, the fields with their
harvests and fruits belonged to her ... her plans and wishes modeled the policy and inspired the
decisions of council. The Europeans were astounded by this way of life. The women have great
power here. A man may promise you something, and if he does not keep his promise, he thinks he
is sufficiently excused when he tells you that his wife did not wish to do it. I told him then that he
was not the master, and that in France women do not rule their husbands . As well accounts from
traders who explored the Northwest coast have written about the strong roles women played in
trade transactions with these unfamiliar men. On one account an Englishman who was visiting and
having an experience in trading at Nootka Sounds. [A senior trader under the East India Company],

How To Test Which Type Of Sunscreen Worked Better Than Lotion
The purpose of this experiment was to test which type of sunscreen worked better, spray or lotion.
The experiment was conducted by cutting a UV paper into squares and labeling each one with
each of the six sunscreen. A small amount of each sunscreen was applied to a square and was taken
outside for three minutes to be exposed to the sun. The UV squares were taken back inside to be
soaked in water for one minute each. The squares were left to dry for twenty four hours. Three
trials were conducted for each sunscreen. After the twenty four hours of drying time and for the
results to fully come in, immediately it was noticed that the lotions made the UV paper much
lighter than the sprays. For all three trials, sunscreen number two, made the UV paper the whitest,
meaning it protected the UV paper from sun exposure more.
It was already hypothesized that the lotion sunscreens would protect the UV paper more as all
three sunscreen lotions contained zinc oxide while none of the sprays contained this ingredient.
Zinc oxide is very helpful for sensitive skin when it comes to sun block and provides a broad
spectrum sun protection that helps prevent sunburns. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One error that did occur was that the lotions were applied very unevenly. The lotions were
applied evenly throughout the UV square and was just left as a thick material in the middle of
the square. A paint brush or using an even smaller amount may have helped apply the products
evenly across the small square. Another error that may have occurred was that the spray was
applied directly to the UV squares. This resulted in uneven and patchy coverage. This uneven
coverage could have affected the results as only parts of the paper had sunscreen applied to it.
This may not have occurred if the spray sunscreen was first sprayed into a small container and
applied with a fingertip or a paintbrush to the UV

How To Make Aladdin The Musical
Aladdin Review Many of the actors in Blackbird Academy s production of Aladdin the Musical
were introduced to a whole new world of acting while simultaneously singing and dancing. This
performance was a dazzling showcase of the poor Aladdin s quest to marry the beautiful Princess
Jasmine. The cute and comical characters displayed the conflicts between Aladdinand Jafar, as well
as those between Aladdin and her father s wishes for her marriage. The ages of the actors ranged
from age seven to seventeen, so this also came with obvious gaps in experience. The various ages
of the crew made for an entertaining show, even with the occasional messups. The costumes were
probably the best part of the whole performance. For an organization that does not always receive

It was centered in the auditorium of a church, but you would not be able to tell. The purple
lighting set the tone for an Arabian adventure, and the simple set was easy for the children to

microphones helped the characters look more natural without black lines covering up the faces.
The lighting was also used effectively in many parts. For example, the lights when down
momentarily when Aladdin jumped off the stage and ended up in a cave. I wondered how they
would display the genie s iconic introduction, and the creativity of the moment surprised me.
Aladdin rubbed the lamp as the lights went out, then a swirling image moved around in circles
across the screen until the genie herself popped out on stage. This made the moment much more
dramatic, similar to the scene with A Whole New World. During the magic carpet ride, the host of
narrators spread out sheets of lavender fabric and moved them up and down to create the illusion of

She also entertained the wives of other officers present at the encampment and helped manage the household. On occasion she was directly involved with the headquarters activities, such as when she entertained Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Pleasant and two other Quaker ladies who had come to see the General. Pierre Etienne Duponceau, secretary to Baron Von Steuben wrote, In the midst of all our distress there were some bright sided of the picture which Valley forge exhibited at that time. • 4. The Importance Of Testing For All Software Development... Over the past few decades, online industry has developed in leaps and bounds. Nowadays, testing is playing an instrumental role in all software development processes. A good testing program can help to prevent software defects, reduce the number of bugs, errors, and improve the overall software quality. Besides, when it comes to testing online, it has been withdrawing more and more attention from any individuals or organizations who construct and operate websites, such as e commerce websites, information, customer service websites, blog and so on. Specific and realistic numbers and figures will be assigned to each of the goals, such as conversion rate, bounces rate, the portion of returning users and new users in a period of time, the percentage of improvement. In order to set program goals, beside identifying the higher level business goals and how the testing program can help to achieve those goals, the test organizers can create micro goals. For example, for content based websites: goals are to increase the number of visitors signing up, the number of contents downloaded, forwarded or social engagements (shares, comments); for e commerce sites: the number of accounts created, trial versions downloaded. However, the test owners must keep in mind the main goals of their general business. For instance, a test shows an increase in the number of customers sign in to the customer forms, but such customers become the real customers who actually create conversions. While running a test, the test manager and testers should focus on the long term goals, because in some circumstances the result of an individual test might dictate the direction of the long term goals. In such circumstances, they should not change the goals immediately, but keep optimizing, keep testing until to run all the possible and optimized scenarios in such period of testing time. • 5. Effective Management Of Operations And Supply Chain Introduction Effective management of operations and supply chain is a crucial source of competitive advantage for any business in a rigorously competitive environment. Operations management generally denotes the process of managing a firm s resources with the ultimate aim of delivering value to the customer (Krajewski, Ritzman Malhotra, 2013). To stay ahead of the competition, an organisation must constantly strive to transform its operations it must seek to eliminate inefficiencies in the supply chain. This report compares the operations of 99p Stores and Sainsbury s fulfilment process. Sainsbury, which was founded more than one and a half centuries ago, is one of the most popular retailers in the UK, commanding the third largest market share after Tescoand Asda (Christie, 2013). 99p Stores is also a retailer that operates in the UK, though it is quite smaller compared to Sainsbury. While Sainsbury has been doing online retailingsince 1996, 99p Stores is currently in the process of testing the viability of online retailing. • 6. Relations Between Iran and US Essay In 1979, protests erupted across the nation against the government of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. This was triggered by the domination of foreign policy, the exploitation of Iran s resources and wealth by foreign firms, corruption and oppressive regime. The Shah s government s close ties with the United States and Israel, his oppressive methods and his program of Westernization were unpopular with the Iranian people. They therefore turned to the ulama as an alternative. Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, in exile in Paris, distributed cassette tapes of his speeches to many of the partakers in the protests. The protests were eventually included under the umbrella of Shiite Islam. The Shah was eventually overthrown and sent to exile. Ayatollah... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The politicization of the concepts of Shi ism was first presented by Ayatollah Khomeini s concept of velayat e faqih (the governance of jurisprudence). According to this concept, the Supreme Leader (vali e faqih) is the legal leader of the Islamic community and, thus, he is equal to the imam. The velayat e faqih has been the main principle of the Islamic Republic of Iran s political structure since the revolution. This Shiite component is a very important element of foreign policy as it is what forms Iranian identity, along with Iranian nationalism. Shi ism is very different from Sunni Islam. It is infinitely more religious and plays a much larger role in people s daily lives. It is because of this that even the most secular of the political groups that partook in the revolution were still very much religious. After the coup staged by the CIA against Mossadeq, who attempted to nationalize the oil industry, the United States became highly unpopular with the Iranian people and was viewed as a counterforce to Iranian nationalism. This strongly Shiite identity is also why the referendum resulted in the establishment of an Islamic Republic. It is also important as it set one of Iran s major foreign policy goals and has been a driving force for many of its strategic decisions in the region. Following the establishment of the Islamic Republic, Iran severed ties with Israel, a far cry from what relations had been like, and even ceased to recognize it as an ... The lush grass was invested with thriving insects that swarmed on the ground like an overcrowded marketplace. The crickets made a harmonious song that echoed throughout the forest, almost in sync with the repetitive calls of exotic animals that were crawling through shrubbery and soaring high in the leafy giants. Leathery leaves brushed against each other in the feeble breeze, almost as if they were whispering in hushed tones whilst squirrels ran and frolicked in the bushes. A balmy smell lingered in the humid air, mixing with the scent of damp earth. Flowers were dotted across the luscious forest floor; their enticing fragrance leaving an odd taste in their wake. • 8. Comparing The Egyptians And The Mesopotamians Essay Issa Hawa Hawa 1 Teacher Ms. Smith Pre AP World History Oct 6, 2016 Comparing the Egyptians and the Mesopotamians Egyptians and the Mesopotamians were neolithic civilizations. They both grew crops and they both relied on agriculture and had many rulers as time went on. We start at Egypt In 3100 B.C and Mesopotamians at 5000 B.C (1). The Nile river was a key place for the start of the Ancient Egyptian empire. Egyptians themselves were located near lower Egypt closeby the Nile Delta. They then slowly moved up around upper egypt. With clear fertile and rich soil, agriculture was most efficient and made the Ancient Egyptians very rich. Mesopotamians also had their own rivers known as the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers which were rich in soil for farming. Mesopotamians were located around Zagros Mountains and located inside the Persian gulf. Mesopotamians were Mediterraneans. Egyptians and the Mesopotamians were very alike. Equal rights between men and women existed in both of the empires societies. (2). This is important because the demographics of females were not small in Ancient Egypt and Ancient Mesopotamia. Also, the religion of both empires were polytheistic (Meaning many gods ) (2). Because the gods controlled Egypt and Mesopotamia through land and power, people dedicated a large portion of their time to the gods. An example is that temples ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Symbolism In Stephanie Myer s The Host The Host is a novel written by Stephanie Myer that uses symbolism, theme, and character foils to capture the reader s attention. This book is about our planet Earth being taken by aliens called souls. They are planted into the human brain and they control our bodies like parasites. The remaining humans stay hidden from the invaders and try to stay alive. By using these three literary devices, Stephanie Myers makes the reader ask questions about themselves and shows that right and wrong is gray rather than black and white. The title is the first symbolism in the story. In a parasitism relationship, there is a host and a victim. The souls are hosts of the humans, and when they are taken over, they slowly disappear from existence. The only way to tell the difference between humans and souls is the eyes. A human body that s been taken over by a soul has a ring of silver around the pupil. The eyes are symbolic of what it means to be human. The cave symbolizes a womb, specifically the cave they put her in as a prisoner when she first gets to the humans. At first it is a prison... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The picture, featured in the collection, is a clear example of his early artistic period, which coincides with his first approach to photographyitself. Because of that, the use of colours and lights appears to be particularly relevant. The exploitation of hidden backlight sources in this night photography gives the perception of a much stronger and dramatic contrast, enriching the smooth grayscale palette used for the background. The boldly black silhouette stands out majestically in the dense grey mist, and the letters of the sign appear with some sort of mystic grandeur, also acting as a key light point. • 22. Characteristics Of Magnet Schools Magnet schools are a fantastic idea when viewed from a large spectrum, however the system remains slightly skewed. Northern Hartford is 80% Black and Latino. Many of the students that attend magnet schools represent these ethnicities. However, there are still parents searching for a better academic option for their children as they attend the inner city public schools that exemplify all of the characteristics discussed before: poor educators, run down buildings, and merely an inadequate quality of education. These parents try very hard to enroll their children into the magnet schools, but unfortunately, 50% of these ethnic children are on a waitlist. Once again, white children are prioritized. Officials of these magnet schools go out of their way to seek out white children to attend these magnet schools in order to meet the quota, and yes, it creates a diverse environment, but these white children, again, are given additional opportunities. If a white child and his or her parent do not like the magnet school, they can easily attend their neighborhood school which is usually highly accredited. On the contrary, for Black and Latino children of Northern Hartford, the magnet school is their one and only opportunity to escape the inadequate, segregated, public school system, and yet, these children are the ones on the waitlist. Overall, magnet schools provide an opportunity for success to children of all ethnicities. It exposes them to diversity and broadens their views of greater society. Children are likely to perform well due to the extensive resources provided in these magnet schools such as the vivarium and planetarium in the magnet school for environmental sciences. Not only is it beneficial for the children, but it demonstrates to parents who grew up in white, suburban, areas with one or two black children that diversity is good, that these children are just like any others but with a different skin tone. Integration aids in ridding the idea of racism and stereotypes. Ultimately, it is the solution for a myriad of societal issues. This is indeed true, as all, regardless of title or economic status, will one day meet death and face the Eternal Judge, God. Furthermore, Everyman teaches that one must prepare for death. The story of Job opens with Job s fate of suffering being planned. Satan presents himself in an audience before God. Even in situations where the copper is recovered and the etchant is regenerated by the waste hauler, this waste stream may be an environmental hazard. Transportation of the spent etchant and its ultimate disposition may pose environmental risks and result in increased liability for the PCB facility. 1.3 Disposal of electronic equipments Electronic equipment is considered hazardous because of the presence of lead, mercury, cadmium, chromium, and some types of retardants. For example, some monitors can contain up to 27% lead. There are four main ways which electronic equipment can be disposed. They are incineration, resale, donation and recycling. Destruction of electronics equipment means incineration. Businesses are allowed to dispose of their hazardous waste in this manner, but the destruction then falls under more restrictive hazardous waste rules. The incineration process yields some environmentally dirty residue and it is thus not an entirely green option. Superficially, resale, looks like a good option. It generates profits for the company, the buyers are happy, and the electronics are disposed of. However, liability and administration concerns become an issue. Properly administering a sales program takes time and paperwork, and one has to consider whether used electronics sales are really what the company is in business to do. Donation is also a valid option. However, electronics are classified as hazardous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. The Tragedy of Syria It was two am in the morning and I couldn t sleep yet. Hours separated us from changing history. It was extremely hard to control the thoughts spinning in my mind, What will happen tomorrow? , Is it a start of a new life? I finally slept dreaming that there will be a new sunrise tomorrow, a sunrise after decades of darkness. I woke up the next day as eager as possible and went to school. All day thoughts were still going back and forth. Will we be able to make it? I think I am just over ambitious and it will be a normal day . Rushing back home after school, I entered my home and opened the news and there it was A protest in the heart of Damascus calling for freedom . I couldn t stop myself from screaming. A storm of emotions blew up my heart. Feelings of happiness, anxiety, tension, and fear were all bumping inside me. A protest in Syria was literally a miracle as many declared. Syria has been called the kingdom of silence for more than forty years. What happened was very tremendous, leaving a day Syrians will remember accurately, March 15 2011. That was the start, and now who haven t heard of Syria on the news and international news agencies every single day. More than two thirds of the Syrian cities are destroyed and more than six million people got displaced from their homes. While being a listening ear, I was introduced to the reality that not every mother has the attachment to her child that almost every movie in Hollywood portrays. After hearing the story and not sure if it was a real thing, I began to search the web for information, stories, and news coverage related to the rarely discussed category of depressed known as Postpartum Depression(PPD). I wanted to find solid proof that this was an actual diagnosis and what the long term effects would be, as well as what was being done to reduce the amount of women that suffer from this. This research should allow me to better understand the causes and effects of postpartum depression on the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Problems such as breastfeeding, marital or relationship issues, feeling inadequate, and not having the social support can all add to the stress factors that could potentially lead and contribute to postpartum depression (Postpartum Depression, 357). Primary Care Physicians are ultimately more likely to make the diagnosis of PPD over their obstetrician since they usually have a more solid foundation and trust built up after being seen there more frequently. A test is given to women around eight to twelve weeks postpartum in order to determine the likelihood of postpartum depression and overall health of the mother (Postpartum Depression, 358 359). Another scholarly journal I found was Disorganized attachment in early childhood: Meta analysis of precursors, concomitants, and sequelae by Marinus H van Ijzendoorn, Carlo Schuengel, and Marian J. Bakermans Kranenburg published by Cambridge University. The journal describes how a mother s postpartum depression affects the mental development of the child as well as their own attachment issues that can result in educational delays as well as behavioral issues (Development and Psychopathology, 228). Children develop attachments with anyone who gives them steady care, disregarding the quality of that care. The effect on infants whose mother went through postpartum depression (PPD) can impact the development and quality of life that child will have (Child Development, Feb 1993). A long term effect ... • 36. Risk Of Loss From Insurance Companies Essay CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION 1.1Background of the study In life, losses are sometimes unavoidable. People may become ill and lose income or savings to pay off medical bills. Individuals or their relatives may die of illness or accidents. People s homes or other property may suffer damage or theft. All these activities in the environment of man are subject to the risk of loss from unforeseen events. To lessen this burden on humans, insurance companies are formed and existed for decades with a common goal of pooling related risks and offering a cushion to the unforeseen circumstances. To expand the coverage of life insurance products, life insurance companies have recently begun offering complex policies with embedded options. Among them is the participating policies with interest rate guarantees and surrender options. Bacinello (2001), defined participating policy as a contract in which the policyholder is entitled to a share of the excess profit if the realized interest rate during the insurance period is above the assumed interest rate. The policy mechanism enables the insured to receive dividends (bonuses) in addition to the assured payments implied by the guaranteed interest rate. Owing to the existence of the interest rate guarantee, the policy has some features that resembles the European call options. This property is included in most real life life insurance contracts in Ghana. There are numerous ways in which this profit sharing is realized. The usual approach is to ... • 40. Persuasive Essay On Prejudice And Discrimination When someone thinks of the word prejudice, he or she might think the word only refers to racial prejudice between those of different skin colors or looks. However, that is not the case. Prejudice goes deeper than that. Prejudices and stereotypes are usually negative thoughts or beliefs that people place on each other based on differences, such as religion, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, gender, or geographic location. Recently, Muslims have been a huge target for prejudice and discrimination. Ever since the incident of 9/11, when a terrorist group purposely crashed planes into the World Trade Center, Muslims have never been treated the same. That is reflected with the introduction of various bills and legislation, the implementation of stricter immigration laws, and the addition of stricter airport laws policies. Although I do think we can reduce the amount of prejudice in our societies among Muslims, I do not believe that prejudice and discrimination will ever completely go away. Islamophobia, the irrational fear or dislike against Islam or Muslims, very much existed before the 9 /11 attacks; however, it increased drastically across the world after that horrible incident. Due to the increase of national fear in the United States after the attacks, immigration laws became much stricter. One author states that these laws were put into place by the USA Patriot Act, the Enhanced Border Security and Visa Entry Reform Act, and many others (Villemez, 2). According to ... Aguero Sisters Cultural Identity The AgГјero Sisters, a novel by Christina GarcГa, explores the desire to understand and connect with one s past through memory, specifically calling attention to those that evoke feelings such as dislocation and loss. Through these concepts, the AgГјero family longs to identify with the Cuban nation they once called home. In this context, GarcГa rewrites cultural identity as one that transcends borders and is further maintained through personal memory. Through her portrayal of the characters of Constancia AgГјero and Reina AgГјero, GarcГa captures the experience of those whose lives were changed through separation from their Cuban nation. • 43. Nuclear Weapons Technology And Its Impact On The... This project will discuss nuclear weapons technology and its impact on the Treaty on the Nonproliferation of Nuclear Weapons, also known as the NPT (Nonproliferation Treaty). The Treaty covers three main pillars: disarmament, nonproliferation, and peaceful uses of nuclear energy. It was signed in 1968 due to concern that the safety of the planet was at risk by having a high number of nuclear weaponstates. After the United States bombed the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki using vastly destructive nuclear fission bombs, it became apparent that the States and possibly other countries could divert resources towards weapons rather than peaceful uses of nuclear energy. Thus, nuclear weaponry prompted the creation of the Treaty. Since the development of the first nuclear weapons technology by the Manhattan Project of the United States in 1945, nuclear proliferation has been a major global concern. The Manhattan Project was an undertaking involving the development of nuclear fission bombs, also known as atom bombs. Atom bombs use a hollow bullet of enriched uranium shot into a target made of the same element, initiating a nuclear chain reaction that releases vast amounts of energy. The bombs created by the Manhattan Project were called Little Boy and Fat Man, and were used on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, respectively. This effectively ended World War II in 1945 after Japan was forced to surrender, but it also caused the deaths of hundreds of thousands of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Each of these sections deals with a similar situation and issues: a return from exile which includes projects of restoration and reform. Today modern English translations of the Bible print the text of Ezra Nehemiah as two distinct books. By having Ezra and Nehemiah as separate books was not always the way in which these texts were written; they were traditionally combined into one book in the Hebrew and Greek Bibles. According to him, the bishops were neglecting their duties such as preaching, teaching, visitations, and confirmation. There was also a general decline in the moral behaviour of bishops. Bede mentions this in his letter when he writes that they are given to laughter, jokes, idle tales, feasting and drunkenness and other attractions of a loose way of life. Bishops would typically only preach if they received money for it, which led to a spiritual impoverishment for the laity. The laypeople lacked adequate instruction in the faith not only because of the waywardness of bishops but also because there were not enough priests to give a good example to the laity to imitate. Another abuse that Bede objects to is the unjust taxation of the lay faithful and any other forms of clerical avarice. Many remote farms, hamlets, and small villages were neglected by their bishop; they were still, however, expected to pay their ecclesial taxes. Bede also mentions that there simply are not enough dioceses in Northumbria, which would help to resolve the laity s lack of spiritual education. As per (Kostakis, et al., 2014) cabin pressurization, air conditioning and anti ice wing protection require pneumatic power, flight surface actuation, landing gear and breaking require hydraulic power, and finally, engine fuel and oil pumps require mechanical power. Electrical power is limited to cabin lights, fans and avionics. However, on a MEA electrical power is used to power some or all the above mentioned loads. Additionally, two new technological features are incorporated on a MEA, the bleed less engine and the electrical self start of the engine. In a bleed less engine, all of the air intake is converted into thrust, without it having to be bypassed away from the compressors, as it would in a conventional engine, to power pneumatic loads. Bleed air is still required on the engine for operability reasons, but by reducing the amount of bleed air required, this could allow the removal of some heavy equipment such as fans and ducts, and provides potential improvements in engine reliability. This architectural shift has brought benefits such as weight reduction, optimized performance and reduced life cycle costs for the plane operator. The experiment was conducted by cutting a UV paper into squares and labeling each one with each of the six sunscreen. A small amount of each sunscreen was applied to a square and was taken outside for three minutes to be exposed to the sun. The UV squares were taken back inside to be soaked in water for one minute each. The squares were left to dry for twenty four hours. Three trials were conducted for each sunscreen. After the twenty four hours of drying time and for the results to fully come in, immediately it was noticed that the lotions made the UV paper much lighter than the sprays. For all three trials, sunscreen number two, made the UV paper the whitest, meaning it protected the UV paper from sun exposure more.
