Renaissance Art Outline
1. The Renaissance got its start among the northern Italian city sates after a thousand years of
medieval brutality and barbarism, [Giorgio] Vasari claimed, Italian artists and thinkers had bravely
restored the lost perfection of art and philosophy as known as the ancients (Backman, page 373). The
cultural elite of the time was bringing the ideas, moral values, art, and civic mindedness back to life
to, what they believed, the two high points of Western culture: Periclean Athens and Republican Rome
(Backman, page373). Pier Paolo Vergerio, and early Renaissance writer on education, insisted that
only the study of the classical liberal arts can lift society from the moral and spiritual decay of the
medieval era (Backman, page 374).This gave fresh hope and creative energy to Europe (Backman, ...

There are a number of fundamental elements of humanism. One would be to prevail over suffering
and another, to change things in our lives for the better. To live life to the fullest, but still help others
live theirs that way as well. The best one can do is find comfort, beauty, or value in the broken shards
of the world scattered at one s feet (Backman, page 377).
3. Martin Luther s argument to the Catholic Church was against the church s practice of selling
indulgences (Backman, page 395). In order to be fully forgiven of sin, according to the Catholic
Doctrine, you must meet the four requirements: contrition, confession, absolution, and satisfaction.
After the first three, the forth one must then make some sort of restitution for what one did (Backman,
page 395). An exploit to this would be a special donation to the church was one way of earning the
indulgence (Backman, page 395).
4. The printing press, invented by Johannes Gutenburg, played a big part in the Renaissance and the
Reformation because it allowed the copying of written works be copied faster and pour over Europe
like a tide (Backman, page 384). The quicker the scriptures, the faster the

My Writing For Writing A Writing Intensive Course
There were goals in English 109M that lets me know that I will learn in the class to help prepare me
for the writing intensive course. These goals, let me know what the expectation is for the class and
how these goals will help me to improve my writing proficiency in the writing intensive course.
However, it was not an easy journey for me. I did have my struggles with writing essay for this class
due to insufficient of English grammar rules but I manage to do better than I thought. My essays might
not be the best but I do notice that I did improve better than before. This class taught me how to plan,
revise and editing based on the feedback that I got from my classmates and instructor. The four goals
that are from the course which illustrate my potential as an academic writer are engage in writing as a
process that includes planning, revision, and editing based on feedback from peers and instructor,
second, critically read and comprehend academic texts, third, understand, identify and analyze specific
rhetorical choices of academic writers, which may include genre, format, evidence, citation, style, and
organization and the fourth goal is to develop an awareness of and preparedness for the writing they
will do in their majors through research, exploration, and/or practice of the discourse community s
conventions.
The first goal is to engage in writing as a process that includes planning, revision, and editing based

Mujahideen s Afganistan 1992 1996
Afganistan is a terrotity which was a battleground between the great powers for centuries. Afganistan
history is a war history since the 3rd Century when it was a part of Ashoka s Maurayan Empire and
becomes a buffer state between British and Russian empire by the end of the 19th Century. War
culture produced a great warriors of history like Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni and Babur. Multiple
civilisations influenced the diverse culture of Afganistan which is a potential cause of conflict in
modern day Afganistan [1]. The focus of this article is the Afganistan under Jihadi rule.
With the establishment of Democratic Republic of Afghanistan by the People s Democratic Party of
Afghanistan (PDPA) in 1978, the socialist agenda was implemented, including equal rights for
women, changing the national flag from traditional green colour to red colour and new credit system
in the countryside resulted agriculture crisis. Finally, all the changes in society and culture, angered
the conservatives who considered the new shift as an attack on Islam. In response to the radical
policies changes and the Soviet invasion of 1979, resistance groups were organised both inside
Afghanistan and in Pakistan [2]. Most groups, mainly fought for one aim: to remove an imperialistic
foreign power and preserve Islam and traditional Afghan ways. These groups and their

Art of Msnsgement Accounting
Pushing the art of management accounting Despite the many strides the profession has made over the
years, some still believe that management accounting practices haven t taken as strong a hold in
organizations as they should. FCMAAlexander Mersereau describes the challenges that are slowing
the adoption of critical management accounting tools in broader business By Alexander Mersereau,
CMA, FCMA M anagement accounting practice has developed substantially over the past century, but
recent studies suggest that the practice is no longer making the strides that it once did. Unless
management accountants take a hard look at the effectiveness of current practice, this situation isn t
likely to improve. In some companies, radical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A similar study by Accenture/Economist Intelligence Unit reported a significant gap between potential
and actual practice.3 These indications of a slowing pace of management accounting change may be
due to a range of factors. In some cases, new management accounting tools aren t adapted to
organizational strategy or structure and can t be used. And in some cases, innovation has failed due to
implementation related factors. However, the main problems aren t technical or structural; they lie in
the need for a better management of the management accounting process itself. Getting involved At
the heart of the management accounting process is a communications system, or a set of
communications systems, that provide information to managers. The ability of management
accountants to improve the scope, timeliness or quality of the information they provide depends on
how well they understand and manage these systems. There are three main areas in management
accounting systems in which communication problems can occur, which are illustrated here using the
tale of The Three Monkeys. The three monkeys that most people know are Speak No Evil, Hear No
Evil and See No Evil. In this medieval Japanese illustration, a trio of monkeys is depicted with one
having his hands over his mouth, another covering his ears and a third his eyes. The original use of
this image seems to have been to illustrate wisdom. The three wise monkeys, as they were referred to,

Museum Critique
The art museum I chose to visit is The Frist Center in Nashville. I have been to this museum before,
but I was much younger and do not remember it being so marvelous. The entrance itself is very
fascinating. The designs below the name of the museum really caught my eye, however, they did not
catch my eyes like the eagles on the sides of the building did. Once you are inside of the building, it
was as if I instantly knew I was in for some very elegant artwork. The first exhibit I saw was the
Irving Penn: Beyond Beauty exhibit. The mood of this exhibit to me was back and forth. I liked some
of the pieces and then I did not. In my opinion, Penn was somewhat of a demented artist. The second
exhibit I walked through was Claire Morgan: Stop Me Feeling. ... Show more content on

I have not ever in my life viewed a painting made out of sand, that looked like it was actually painted.
This piece has truly affected the way I view the world. It makes me have a little more passionate
connection with my own religion. The important message that is shown to me in this painting is that
we should not take anything for granted, especially our religion. If the monks can travel across the
world to show a piece of their religion, we should be able to get out of bed and support our religion as
well. This piece definitely reaffirms a religious belief. I think the same affect it had on me, it could
possibly happen to other believers. Everyone perceives art differently, so there is no certainty that
people will be fascinated by it like I was. This mandala relates to my life because like the monks, I am
a religious person. Along with being religious the piece also shows the universe, but on a different
level than we usually see it. The artists decided to work the way they did because the message is more
powerful this way. It sends the message that I stated before of how they have some much passion for
their religion. I am not sure why the monks had to come from the Drepung Loseling Monastery, but I
am positive that serves a purpose as well. Everything that evolved around this painting had a purpose.
I believe it was to show the universe as the monks see it. This piece is extremely different from other

Worth The Cost Of College

education or not. The debate on the cost of college and its worth has been a highly discussed topic for
decades. Most kids most likely won t attend college because they claim it s too expensive and it s not
worth the cost. But college is more than just a building with an expensive price tag that people attend,
it s an experience, it s a segue to personal and financial prosperity. The big bulk of the is college worth

Authentic Leadership Paper
Authentic Leadership approach is kind of a leadership approach where the leader is defined as
genuine, moral and character based leaders. ( (Bill George, 2016). Authentic leaders are always true to
their core values. The leader may or may not demand or request particular behavior or actions, but she
will demonstrate them, and expect or imply that others will follow. According to Bill George of
Huffinpost, authentic leaders demonstrate five qualities, Understanding their purpose, Practicing solid
values, Leading with heart, Establishing connected relationships, Demonstrating self discipline. (Bill
George, 2016) Authentic leaders are people who spread positive vibes to the people whom they
interact with and they also promote openness among the group. ... Show more content on

According to Pamela Spahr from St. Thomas University Transformational Leaders possess a single
minded need to streamline or change things that no longer work. The transformational leader
motivates workers and understands how to form them into integral units that work well with others.
(Spahr, 2015) Servant leadership is the kind of leadership where the leader himself is willing to work
as a servant. The leader wants to serve first in the group. Servant leader s emphasis on individual
development and the transformational leader s focus on structural growth. According to Larry Spears,
Servant leaders are very good listeners, it s their number one characteristic. (Spears, n.d.) Servant
leaders go extra mile for their commitment to listening to others. All three style of leaderships are very
crucial to change the individuals and the social systems within the organization. A perfect leader is one
who carries all three styles. The style of an organization s leadership is reflected equally on the nature
of that organization and its relations with the

Depression in the Bible
Depression is defined as, a mood disorder marked especially by sadness, inactivity, difficulty with
thinking and concentration, a significant increase or decrease in appetite and time spent sleeping,
feelings of dejection and hopelessness, and sometimes suicidal thoughts or an attempt to commit
suicide (Merriam Webster). A close friend of mine battles depression and would describe it is, a
debilitating mood that makes it hard to get out of the bed in the morning, a desire to sleep all the time,
inability to experience joy, and apathy towards life. Due to its prevalent occurrence among several
people groups throughout history, depression is known as the common cold of mental illnesses and
has been called the most widespread, serious, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another imbalance that often causes biological depression is amine imbalance. Amines are the
neurotransmitters that float in the synapse between two nerve cells in the brain (Smith 3). The key
amines are serotonin and norepinephrine. When there is a decrease in the levels of these
neurotransmitters, depression often occurs. Biological depression is as common among Christians just
as it is common among the general population. However, it often goes undiagnosed due to dissenting
views held by many Christians regarding the causes of depression. Many in the church believe
depression is just all in the head. They believe it should be easily cured with a bible verse and slapping
on a smile. In most cases, it is just all in the head. Although for someone with biological depression, a
cure does not always come so simply. Many Christians adhere to beliefs regarding depression such as:
1. Depression is always the result of unconfessed sin.
2. Depression is always the result of lack of faith in God.
3. Depression can always be removed by spiritual exercises such as prayer and fasting.
4. Depression can be removed by making a choice to be happy (Smith 5).
It is crucial for pastors to realize that sometimes a depressed person is suffering from an actual
medical imbalance and needs to be treated as such. It is abundantly clear from current research that
certain kinds of depression have important biological roots and can be substantially relieved

Ben Shahn s The Passion Of Sacco And Vanzetti
Ben Shahn s painting The Passion of Sacco and Vanzetti highlights the discrimination immigrant
groups, as outsiders, face in many aspects of the American experience, particularly that before the
justice system. Shahn effectively argues that the American systems, as a result of prejudice and
hostility towards immigrants, can be incredibly unjust and abusive. He does so through his specific
use of colors, the symbolism of the figures he chose to use, and the framing of his painting. The
Passion of Sacco and Vanzetti is made with tempera and gouache on canvas mounted on composition
board. It was painted by social realist Ben Shahn in the years of 1931 and 1932 as a criticism of the
infamous American Sacco and Vanzetti case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Apparently, it took the judge, who stands at the window of the courthouse, hypocritically holding up
his right hand in a sign of honesty, three hours to deem guilty the accused. Honorable they may have
been, but when facing what they view as a crisis, those in power will generally do what they deem
necessary to protect an established order in which they occupy positions of privilege (33). It can be
seen in the faces of the men that though they are in honorable positions of power, their ideas about
justice and fairness were quickly distorted. Shahn painted the men with bored looking and cold faces.
Even the smaller details of the painting hold great importance. Frame of the painting and the scale of
the figures implies something: the person viewing the scene depicted in the painting is doing so
intimately, from a close range, as if invited to the funeral: the viewer is a bystander like the three men
who convicted Sacco and Vanzetti. For example, even now the response of many majority Americans
has been to support measures that place large portions of the immigrant populations under suspicion
and state surveillance (35). Shahn is trying to say that everyone, America as a whole and Americans,
watched on as Sacco and Vanzetti were killed and did nothing. Like no one helped

A Career Intuitive, And I See Dream Jobs
m a career intuitive, and I see dream jobs. When I work with clients, I see their gifts and potentials;
what they came here to do; the careers they would love; and where they should live. This information
comes to me as photographic images and strong messages that I transmit directly to my clients.
Sometimes I see my client s departed loved ones, who come to the session to offer career guidance.
This joining of two seemingly disconnected worlds the divine realms and the world of work seems to
be my particular talent. I was born in New Orleans to a French Cajun mother who came from a long
line of women with the gift. I inherited a double dose of telepathy, clairvoyance and precognition from
her and her mother, and on back through generations of Degas women. These unusual gifts were
nurtured by the mysterious city of my childhood. In the haunted alleys of the French Quarter, most
everybody gives respect to the unseen world in some form or other: voodoo, Catholicism, psychics,
vampires, Mardi Gras. My early years were flavored with this spicy magic, from my Grandpa s stories
of the swirling Mississippi River to the unforgettable images I absorbed in the dark recesses of
Crescent City life. I thrived on the rhythms of my crazy Cajun ancestors. And, like them, I heard other
people s thoughts and had vivid dreams of events that would happen in the future. My psychic gift is
most powerful now that I use it to help others. The precognitive images that I see help me guide my

The Importance of Immigration to the Canadian Economy in...
In the early decades of the 20th century, over one in five people living in Canada were immigrants. As
immigrants were introduced to the freshly structured land and economy of Canada it began to show
that immigration was essential to the financial structure of Canada. Some of the reasons that
immigration was important to the Canadian economy in the early 20th century is that it prevented
American expansion, Railway Business benefited from providing service to western Canada,
immigrants started new businesses in Canada and industrialization and urbanization.
Even though birth rates were higher than immigration rates in the early 20th century immigration was
still very important to the Canadian economy because since approximately 180,000 people immigrated
to Canada during the time periods of 1900 1910 and each of those immigrants received 160 acres of
land in western Canada it stopped the possibility of America expansion because western Canada was
beginning to become colonized which boosted the economy because Canada has one of the world s
largest supply of natural resources such as metals, lumber and oil and in order for those resources to
be not only discovered but to be put to use Canada needed workers but it had a very low birthrate
compared to the other country s therefore immigration was need to put Canada s resources to use and
start internationals trade and to boost the economy and without immigration the birth rate would stay
low also Economic activity in Canada is

Why Did The Vietnam War Began Essay
Do you know how the Vietnam War started? Technically the war was never declared a war so the
Vietnam War should be called the Vietnam conflict. The United States got involved in this mess as
early as 1950. Most of the men in the Vietnam War knew what they were getting into because most of
them volunteered. The countries in the Vietnam war were The United States, South Vietnam, China,
Viet Cong and North Korea. South Vietnam s main ally was the United States. North Korea s main
ally was the Viet Cong. North Vietnam was backed by all the communist countries like the Soviet
Union and The Republic of China so North Vietnam were The Bad Guys as some people would call
them. South Vietnam was backed by all the non communist countries like Australia and the United
States. North and South Vietnam had large differences in the way they ran their country. That is one of

The United States began its involvement in Vietnam as early as the year 1950. In spite of the U.S.

the U.S. had failed to stop communist expansion in Eastern Europe, China, Korea and lately Cuba,
Vietnam immediately became another place of concern. In October 1961, after many successful Viet

My Life At An Elusive Black Bear
A few years ago when I was younger, my father took me out one evening bear hunting. This evening
was just like any other day because since I was small my dad had taken me with him on many of his
hunting adventures. We gathered all of our needed gear such as the cross bow, the mono pod, and our
cushioned seats. Then we set off, leaving our comfort of home for a relaxing evening together. I was
hoping to get a chance at an elusive black bear. Unknowingly, this day became one of the most
memorable days in my life, for a small brown haired reason. The wind was weaving its way
harmoniously through the treetops at sunset. It created a mystifying ambiance within the forest. The
sun was gleaming through the tree branches, leaving its last little slivers of warmth before dropping
down below the hills for its lingering night s sleep. It almost seemed like a picturesque dream all
together with the hushed silence. After conversing about all of our potential hunting spots, we decided
to go up the steep knob where we had seen black bear sign before. We found a cozy spot right in front
of an elongated stump. It was humid that evening. When we finally had reached our desired area, we
were warmer than the black top on a hot summer s day. We took a few heavy layers off before we sat
down. This turned out great because it provided some much needed extra padding.
After we got settled in, we prepared for the certain places we suspected a bear would come from.

If say you have a division 3 school, with 5500 students, 3000 men and 2500 women. The idea that the
school is going to be able to have at least 75% of those students show or give interest towards a
certain sport or a certain inter mural game, is very hard to actually accomplish. The idea that also, the
underrepresented gender must have the ability to play the game is also very difficult to judge. I guess
if a team can not win a game all season but has double the amount of interest than spots available on
the team, maybe that would or would not require equal funding. I think this prong test of compliance
needs to be re evaluated. Another issue that I think needs to be taken into effect is football. There is no
sport or club, male or female, that can equal the same amount of funding needed for a football team
and even created by a football team. Some smaller division 2 and 3 schools will even have a JV and
Freshman football team along with their traveling varsity program. The amount of money that division
1 football programs bring in for the school is amazing. Just the amount of men that it takes to fill up a
football roster will keep prong 2 alive. As long as there is a big football program, women will need to
have continual expansion of sports, or the teams already in place, which will in turn, have the loss of
smaller, not as popular, men s sports being dropped. There has been over 300 men s

she takes her predetermination into her own hands and walk north to opportunity, despite the fact that
she knows it will be a hazardous excursion and she has no unmistakable thought of her goal. A
considerable lot of the general population who join her are getting away from some type of virtual
servitude. Zahra Moss was kept under the thumb of her significant other; Jill and Allie Gilchrist were
oppressed to their dad who constrained them into prostitution; and Emery Solis was owing debtors
subjugation to her manager. Whenever Lauren and her gathering achieve Bankole s property they are

Delaying Gratification As A Process Of Scheduling The Pain...
Scott Peck describes delaying gratification as a process of scheduling the pain and pleasure of life in
such a way to enhance the pleasure ... (pg 19). In other words, it is realizing that in life, and especially
at work in any job, there are tasks and responsibilities that are enjoyable and there are tasks and
responsibilities that bring very little joy. By consciously scheduling the less enjoyable tasks around
those that are more enjoyable, time management will improve and productivity will increase. People
will be less likely to delay the less desirable tasks and responsibilities if they know that once those
tasks are complete, there awaits one that produces more enjoyment. In my career, the task I least enjoy
is marking. I love classroom instruction, interacting with the students, participating in extra curricular
activities, but marking is pure drudgery. However, I know that marking is an essential part of learning
and I try to schedule my marking time in the morning when I am not distracted by other events or
tired.
In today s technological world, organizations have a significantly more difficult time with this tool
than when Mr. Peck wrote this book. Electronic devices and social media have created a culture of
instant gratification. There is no need to wait until one gets home to talk about the day. Thoughts and
ideas are posted and instantly responded to by people around the world. Many work places have had
to create policy about employees using electronic devices

The General Capabilities Of Joint Force
The general capabilities of joint force 2025 I believe necessary to rebalance the force based on the
current strategic direction, and global security environment is the global surveillance and strike (GSS)
network, increased naval and air investments and increased investment in cyber technology. The GSS
system would allow the U.S. military to strike quickly and remain engaged for increased periods of
time while additional forces are moved to the area of concern. Naval and air investments are critical.
The Navy and Air Force allows us to project power to areas of the world far from our base of
operations. Air power also enables us to provide support for ground forces and deterrence and denial
of enemy forces. Cyber investments are critical because cyber technology will increasingly be the
engine that runs our future military and allows us to attack adversary s cyber networks and
infrastructure.
The GSS network will be a vital piece for rebalancing the force in 2025. This network would enable
the joint force to better utilize capabilities of unmanned systems and automation, extended range and
low observable air operations, undersea warfare, and complex system engineering and integration. The
idea is to distribute the capability geographically to assist U.S. forces with a quick strike capability
anywhere in the world. The capability should have much less reliance on bases and be less vulnerable
to enemy air defense systems. All parts of the US military would benefit

The Role Of Women In The Epic Of Gilgamesh
Throughout history, there have been varying views toward women in society. Many of these views are
immortalized in the stories and legends that have been documented in history. Two of these stories,
Gilgamesh and The Odyssey, show the attitudes of society towards women during those times. In
Gilgamesh, women are commonly portrayed as manipulative and immoral, which is demonstrated not
only by the human women, but also by the gods. In The Odyssey, however, this mold is broken by
Penelope, Ulysses wife, and Minerva, the goddess of wisdom. Although there are several women in
the story who are similar in nature to characters in Gilgamesh, the overall view is a much more
positive one towards women.
The Epic of Gilgamesh is thought to be the earliest piece of literature that has been discovered and
preserved. This poem, therefore, lends great insight into the views of Mesopotamian society towards
women. Throughout the story, the women are shown to be immoral and manipulative by the actions of
Shamhat, a prostitute, and Ishtar, a scorned goddess. Shamhat s role in the story is brief, but it lends
understanding into what a woman s role was considered to be in Mesopotamia. She was not ashamed
to take him, she made herself naked and welcomed his eagerness (Gilgamesh, Par. 11). Shamhat s
actions demonstrate a licentious and immoral representation of women. She is known to be a
prostitute and is responsible ultimately for the downfall of Enkidu. Without her temptation,

Nathan Bedford Forrest And The American Civil War
The American Civil War was a part of the most terrifying and brutal period in American History. The
United States was divided with tensions running high across the country. The war was not only costly,
but ended up killing thousands of soldiers and injuring millions of people on American soil. Great
leaders arose from this conflict, such as Abraham Lincoln in the North and Nathan Bedford Forrest in
the South. Although Forrest s character may be questionable, he was known to be a great war general.
These two figures had a big impact on American History in different parts of the United States.
Abraham Lincoln and Nathan Bedford Forrest influenced the country in many ways and show
similarities through their willingness to lead in a time of crisis, but differ in their leadership and the
emotions they instill in the citizens of America. Abraham Lincoln was elected president on November
6, 1860 and took office in March of 1861. Succession from the Southern states occurred soon after for
fear that he would ban slavery which was hinted at in his campaign speeches (Biography, 2017).
Nathan Bedford Forrest enlisted in the Confederacy after the war broke out and became a private on
July 14, 1861 (Nathan Bedford Forrest). Both of these men became leaders in the American Civil War,
in both the North and the South. They stepped up to lead in a conflicting time filled with death and
sorrow. Although these two individuals are very different in their beliefs and the side they fought for,

19th Century Swimming
Swimming became a true sport in the 19th century when Great Britain began to start holding
competitions to see who could get from one side of the pool to the other the fastest. The first type of
stroke that they used was breaststroke because that was the easiest way to swim at the time while still
being able to breathe. As time progressed the British started using a stroke called the forward crawl
with a scissor kick, however a man named Frederick Cavill in 1887 traveled to the South Seas and saw
people using the forward crawl but with a flutter kick which is now our modern day freestyle.
Swimming first became featured in the Olympics in 1896 and the only strokes that were raced were
Freestyle and Breaststroke. Backstroke was added in 1904

Urban Legend With Its Narrative Polish
This urban legend, with its narrative polish and how recently it has taken place, seems to have had its
start in 1980s, when a Turkish man sold his kidney, but had told officials that it was stolen. Later it
was proven that he offered to sell his kidney from a newspaper advertisement. This story became
famous with its adaption to the TV crime show Law and Order. With its new found fame, many people
adapted the plot to better fit their needs upon retelling it, such as changing the location. Locations
started in distant countries, for instance, Brazil and the Caribbean, then moved closer to Mexico, and
even within the US, New York and Las Vegas (Fine and Ellis, pg. 179 180). The major points that

Be Kidneying). Additionally, instructions to call 911 and leaving the victim a cell phone have updated
the legend. Previously, the victim would be found in an alley or some other abandoned area by either
friends or a bystander. The legend always seems to revolve around the kidneys, usually the criminal
only takes one kidney since humans can live a normal life with one functioning kidney, but there are
variations that describe both kidneys being taken. If both kidneys are taken, the victim would be
forced to start dialysis, which is a medical process to filter toxic wastes in the body which the kidneys
normally do. Without dialysis to filter the waste, death would occur anywhere from one week to

Comparing The Lowest Animal And A Time Of Gifts
The Lowest Animal, was written by Mark Twain and it portrays the bad side of man. Twain goes over
the negative characteristics of man in comparison with animals. On the other hand, A Time of Gifts,
by Stephen Gould portrays the good side of man. Gould focuses on the good characteristics of man
and how these good characteristics shine through in times of trial. Both the good and bad sides of man
have importance and each side can be easily argued for. Whether good outweighs the bad or bad
outweighs the good is a controversial debate. In The Lowest Animal, Mark Twain s story declares that
man is not the Top animal, but is in fact the animal of lowest descent. Twain points out how man is
needlessly cruel, greedy, indecent, brutal, etc. Animals do not have the ability to decipher between
right and wrong. They do only what they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gould declares that the goodness in the word overrides all of the bad. In times of crisis, man will stand
together and the good will shine through. Every spectacular incident of evil will be balanced by
10,000 acts of kindness. (Gould) Whether man is good or bad as a whole comes down to each
individual perception by every person.
Man is good, but man is also bad. Good doesn t override the bad and bad doesn t override the good.
You can not have light without darkness or darkness without light. It is the same with the good and
bad sides of man. One can not exist without the other. The goodness of man should outweigh the bad
but that is impossible. The true nature of man is good but that good can be easily tainted throughout
life. The little acts of kindness throughout the world keep the evil at bay. Good and evil are at a
balance but whether the true nature of man is ultimately good or ultimately bad comes down to each
individual

Personality Assessment of Jackie Robinson Essay
Personality Assessment of Jackie Robinson
Every individual in our society is different; each person is known or described differently from one
another. The Big Five Factors: neuroticism, extraversion, openness to experience, agreeableness, and
conscientiousness, are thought to describe and outline personality in all cultures and language
families. They characterize the differences in humankind and can be used to predict or explain job
performance. Jackie Robinson was a man who I would describe as having a strong and persevering
personality. He grew up at a time when racial tensions were at their worst, and yet, managed to
succeed and follow through with everything he faced. At times he was forced to suck it up, although ...

with guts enough not to fight back (78). Robinson demonstrated the opposite of impulsiveness in
almost all of his actions. Over time, he had learned how to exercise self control to answer insults,
violence, and injustice with silence and had learned how to earn the respect of (his) teammates (81).
Jackie Robinson s score for extraversion was a 78, meaning that although he was extraverted, at times
he demonstrated some introverted traits. Although he was a friendly individual, Robinson, in many
situations, was forced to keep to himself. In addition, he liked to take it easy whenever possible,
gearing up for whatever was to come his way. He also, however, had some extraverted traits, including
the fact that from the time he started school, he was always active, whether it be in sports, or working
with the First African American Bank or the NAACP. He was a true leader with the First African
American Bank and the NAACP, speaking in front of many people, and being aggressive enough to
accomplish what was needed. Robinson constantly demonstrated attempts to be gregarious and to be
recognized by others. Although he remembers standing alone at first base the only black man on the
field, he fought hard to become just another guy . Jackie Robinson never quit because things went the
wrong way. If anything, hardships forced him to work harder at succeeding. When he went on into the
business world, he always strove to learn as much

  • 2. Renaissance Art Outline 1. The Renaissance got its start among the northern Italian city sates after a thousand years of medieval brutality and barbarism, [Giorgio] Vasari claimed, Italian artists and thinkers had bravely restored the lost perfection of art and philosophy as known as the ancients (Backman, page 373). The cultural elite of the time was bringing the ideas, moral values, art, and civic mindedness back to life to, what they believed, the two high points of Western culture: Periclean Athens and Republican Rome (Backman, page373). Pier Paolo Vergerio, and early Renaissance writer on education, insisted that only the study of the classical liberal arts can lift society from the moral and spiritual decay of the medieval era (Backman, page 374).This gave fresh hope and creative energy to Europe (Backman, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are a number of fundamental elements of humanism. One would be to prevail over suffering and another, to change things in our lives for the better. To live life to the fullest, but still help others live theirs that way as well. The best one can do is find comfort, beauty, or value in the broken shards of the world scattered at one s feet (Backman, page 377). 3. Martin Luther s argument to the Catholic Church was against the church s practice of selling indulgences (Backman, page 395). In order to be fully forgiven of sin, according to the Catholic Doctrine, you must meet the four requirements: contrition, confession, absolution, and satisfaction. After the first three, the forth one must then make some sort of restitution for what one did (Backman, page 395). An exploit to this would be a special donation to the church was one way of earning the indulgence (Backman, page 395). 4. The printing press, invented by Johannes Gutenburg, played a big part in the Renaissance and the Reformation because it allowed the copying of written works be copied faster and pour over Europe like a tide (Backman, page 384). Afganistan history is a war history since the 3rd Century when it was a part of Ashoka s Maurayan Empire and becomes a buffer state between British and Russian empire by the end of the 19th Century. War culture produced a great warriors of history like Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni and Babur. • 5. Art of Msnsgement Accounting Pushing the art of management accounting Despite the many strides the profession has made over the years, some still believe that management accounting practices haven t taken as strong a hold in organizations as they should. FCMAAlexander Mersereau describes the challenges that are slowing the adoption of critical management accounting tools in broader business By Alexander Mersereau, CMA, FCMA M anagement accounting practice has developed substantially over the past century, but recent studies suggest that the practice is no longer making the strides that it once did. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A similar study by Accenture/Economist Intelligence Unit reported a significant gap between potential and actual practice.3 These indications of a slowing pace of management accounting change may be due to a range of factors. In some cases, new management accounting tools aren t adapted to organizational strategy or structure and can t be used. And in some cases, innovation has failed due to implementation related factors. However, the main problems aren t technical or structural; they lie in the need for a better management of the management accounting process itself. Getting involved At the heart of the management accounting process is a communications system, or a set of communications systems, that provide information to managers. The ability of management accountants to improve the scope, timeliness or quality of the information they provide depends on how well they understand and manage these systems. There are three main areas in management accounting systems in which communication problems can occur, which are illustrated here using the tale of The Three Monkeys. The three monkeys that most people know are Speak No Evil, Hear No Evil and See No Evil. In this medieval Japanese illustration, a trio of monkeys is depicted with one having his hands over his mouth, another covering his ears and a third his eyes. The original use of this image seems to have been to illustrate wisdom. The three wise monkeys, as they were referred to, counselled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Museum Critique The art museum I chose to visit is The Frist Center in Nashville. I have been to this museum before, but I was much younger and do not remember it being so marvelous. The entrance itself is very fascinating. The designs below the name of the museum really caught my eye, however, they did not catch my eyes like the eagles on the sides of the building did. Once you are inside of the building, it was as if I instantly knew I was in for some very elegant artwork. The first exhibit I saw was the Irving Penn: Beyond Beauty exhibit. The mood of this exhibit to me was back and forth. I liked some of the pieces and then I did not. In my opinion, Penn was somewhat of a demented artist. The second exhibit I walked through was Claire Morgan: Stop Me Feeling. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I have not ever in my life viewed a painting made out of sand, that looked like it was actually painted. This piece has truly affected the way I view the world. It makes me have a little more passionate connection with my own religion. The important message that is shown to me in this painting is that we should not take anything for granted, especially our religion. If the monks can travel across the world to show a piece of their religion, we should be able to get out of bed and support our religion as well. This piece definitely reaffirms a religious belief. I think the same affect it had on me, it could possibly happen to other believers. Everyone perceives art differently, so there is no certainty that people will be fascinated by it like I was. This mandala relates to my life because like the monks, I am a religious person. Along with being religious the piece also shows the universe, but on a different level than we usually see it. The artists decided to work the way they did because the message is more powerful this way. It sends the message that I stated before of how they have some much passion for their religion. I am not sure why the monks had to come from the Drepung Loseling Monastery, but I am positive that serves a purpose as well. Everything that evolved around this painting had a purpose. I believe it was to show the universe as the monks see it. This piece is extremely different from other art that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A close friend of mine battles depression and would describe it is, a debilitating mood that makes it hard to get out of the bed in the morning, a desire to sleep all the time, inability to experience joy, and apathy towards life. Amines are the neurotransmitters that float in the synapse between two nerve cells in the brain (Smith 3). The key amines are serotonin and norepinephrine. When there is a decrease in the levels of these neurotransmitters, depression often occurs. Biological depression is as common among Christians just as it is common among the general population. However, it often goes undiagnosed due to dissenting views held by many Christians regarding the causes of depression. Many in the church believe depression is just all in the head. They believe it should be easily cured with a bible verse and slapping on a smile. In most cases, it is just all in the head. Although for someone with biological depression, a cure does not always come so simply. Many Christians adhere to beliefs regarding depression such as: 1. Depression is always the result of unconfessed sin. 2. Depression is always the result of lack of faith in God. 3. Depression can always be removed by spiritual exercises such as prayer and fasting. 4. Depression can be removed by making a choice to be happy (Smith 5). It is crucial for pastors to realize that sometimes a depressed person is suffering from an actual medical imbalance and needs to be treated as such. • 12. Ben Shahn s The Passion Of Sacco And Vanzetti Ben Shahn s painting The Passion of Sacco and Vanzetti highlights the discrimination immigrant groups, as outsiders, face in many aspects of the American experience, particularly that before the justice system. Shahn effectively argues that the American systems, as a result of prejudice and hostility towards immigrants, can be incredibly unjust and abusive. He does so through his specific use of colors, the symbolism of the figures he chose to use, and the framing of his painting. The Passion of Sacco and Vanzetti is made with tempera and gouache on canvas mounted on composition board. It was painted by social realist Ben Shahn in the years of 1931 and 1932 as a criticism of the infamous American Sacco and Vanzetti case ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Apparently, it took the judge, who stands at the window of the courthouse, hypocritically holding up his right hand in a sign of honesty, three hours to deem guilty the accused. Honorable they may have been, but when facing what they view as a crisis, those in power will generally do what they deem necessary to protect an established order in which they occupy positions of privilege (33). It can be seen in the faces of the men that though they are in honorable positions of power, their ideas about justice and fairness were quickly distorted. Shahn painted the men with bored looking and cold faces. Even the smaller details of the painting hold great importance. Frame of the painting and the scale of the figures implies something: the person viewing the scene depicted in the painting is doing so intimately, from a close range, as if invited to the funeral: the viewer is a bystander like the three men who convicted Sacco and Vanzetti. For example, even now the response of many majority Americans has been to support measures that place large portions of the immigrant populations under suspicion and state surveillance (35). • 13. A Career Intuitive, And I See Dream Jobs m a career intuitive, and I see dream jobs. When I work with clients, I see their gifts and potentials; what they came here to do; the careers they would love; and where they should live. This information comes to me as photographic images and strong messages that I transmit directly to my clients. Sometimes I see my client s departed loved ones, who come to the session to offer career guidance. This joining of two seemingly disconnected worlds the divine realms and the world of work seems to be my particular talent. I was born in New Orleans to a French Cajun mother who came from a long line of women with the gift. I inherited a double dose of telepathy, clairvoyance and precognition from her and her mother, and on back through generations of Degas women. These unusual gifts were nurtured by the mysterious city of my childhood. In the haunted alleys of the French Quarter, most everybody gives respect to the unseen world in some form or other: voodoo, Catholicism, psychics, vampires, Mardi Gras. My early years were flavored with this spicy magic, from my Grandpa s stories of the swirling Mississippi River to the unforgettable images I absorbed in the dark recesses of Crescent City life. I thrived on the rhythms of my crazy Cajun ancestors. And, like them, I heard other people s thoughts and had vivid dreams of events that would happen in the future. My psychic gift is most powerful now that I use it to help others. The precognitive images that I see help me guide my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As immigrants were introduced to the freshly structured land and economy of Canada it began to show that immigration was essential to the financial structure of Canada. Some of the reasons that immigration was important to the Canadian economy in the early 20th century is that it prevented American expansion, Railway Business benefited from providing service to western Canada, immigrants started new businesses in Canada and industrialization and urbanization. Even though birth rates were higher than immigration rates in the early 20th century immigration was still very important to the Canadian economy because since approximately 180,000 people immigrated to Canada during the time periods of 1900 1910 and each of those immigrants received 160 acres of land in western Canada it stopped the possibility of America expansion because western Canada was beginning to become colonized which boosted the economy because Canada has one of the world s largest supply of natural resources such as metals, lumber and oil and in order for those resources to be not only discovered but to be put to use Canada needed workers but it had a very low birthrate compared to the other country s therefore immigration was need to put Canada s resources to use and start internationals trade and to boost the economy and without immigration the birth rate would stay low also Economic activity in Canada is ... The United States got involved in this mess as early as 1950. Most of the men in the Vietnam War knew what they were getting into because most of them volunteered. • 18. My Life At An Elusive Black Bear A few years ago when I was younger, my father took me out one evening bear hunting. This evening was just like any other day because since I was small my dad had taken me with him on many of his hunting adventures. We gathered all of our needed gear such as the cross bow, the mono pod, and our cushioned seats. Then we set off, leaving our comfort of home for a relaxing evening together. I was hoping to get a chance at an elusive black bear. Unknowingly, this day became one of the most memorable days in my life, for a small brown haired reason. The wind was weaving its way harmoniously through the treetops at sunset. It created a mystifying ambiance within the forest. The sun was gleaming through the tree branches, leaving its last little slivers of warmth before dropping down below the hills for its lingering night s sleep. It almost seemed like a picturesque dream all together with the hushed silence. After conversing about all of our potential hunting spots, we decided to go up the steep knob where we had seen black bear sign before. We found a cozy spot right in front of an elongated stump. It was humid that evening. When we finally had reached our desired area, we were warmer than the black top on a hot summer s day. We took a few heavy layers off before we sat down. This turned out great because it provided some much needed extra padding. After we got settled in, we prepared for the certain places we suspected a bear would come from. I guess if a team can not win a game all season but has double the amount of interest than spots available on the team, maybe that would or would not require equal funding. In other words, it is realizing that in life, and especially at work in any job, there are tasks and responsibilities that are enjoyable and there are tasks and responsibilities that bring very little joy. By consciously scheduling the less enjoyable tasks around those that are more enjoyable, time management will improve and productivity will increase. People will be less likely to delay the less desirable tasks and responsibilities if they know that once those tasks are complete, there awaits one that produces more enjoyment. In my career, the task I least enjoy is marking. I love classroom instruction, interacting with the students, participating in extra curricular activities, but marking is pure drudgery. However, I know that marking is an essential part of learning and I try to schedule my marking time in the morning when I am not distracted by other events or tired. In today s technological world, organizations have a significantly more difficult time with this tool than when Mr. Peck wrote this book. The GSS system would allow the U.S. military to strike quickly and remain engaged for increased periods of time while additional forces are moved to the area of concern. Naval and air investments are critical. The Navy and Air Force allows us to project power to areas of the world far from our base of operations. Air power also enables us to provide support for ground forces and deterrence and denial of enemy forces. Cyber investments are critical because cyber technology will increasingly be the engine that runs our future military and allows us to attack adversary s cyber networks and infrastructure. • 24. The Role Of Women In The Epic Of Gilgamesh Throughout history, there have been varying views toward women in society. Many of these views are immortalized in the stories and legends that have been documented in history. Two of these stories, Gilgamesh and The Odyssey, show the attitudes of society towards women during those times. In Gilgamesh, women are commonly portrayed as manipulative and immoral, which is demonstrated not only by the human women, but also by the gods. In The Odyssey, however, this mold is broken by Penelope, Ulysses wife, and Minerva, the goddess of wisdom. Although there are several women in the story who are similar in nature to characters in Gilgamesh, the overall view is a much more positive one towards women. The Epic of Gilgamesh is thought to be the earliest piece of literature that has been discovered and preserved. This poem, therefore, lends great insight into the views of Mesopotamian society towards women. Throughout the story, the women are shown to be immoral and manipulative by the actions of Shamhat, a prostitute, and Ishtar, a scorned goddess. Shamhat s role in the story is brief, but it lends understanding into what a woman s role was considered to be in Mesopotamia. She was not ashamed to take him, she made herself naked and welcomed his eagerness (Gilgamesh, Par. 11). Shamhat s actions demonstrate a licentious and immoral representation of women. She is known to be a prostitute and is responsible ultimately for the downfall of Enkidu. Without her temptation, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The United States was divided with tensions running high across the country. The war was not only costly, but ended up killing thousands of soldiers and injuring millions of people on American soil. Great leaders arose from this conflict, such as Abraham Lincoln in the North and Nathan Bedford Forrest in the South. Although Forrest s character may be questionable, he was known to be a great war general. These two figures had a big impact on American History in different parts of the United States. Abraham Lincoln and Nathan Bedford Forrest influenced the country in many ways and show similarities through their willingness to lead in a time of crisis, but differ in their leadership and the emotions they instill in the citizens of America. Abraham Lincoln was elected president on November 6, 1860 and took office in March of 1861. Succession from the Southern states occurred soon after for fear that he would ban slavery which was hinted at in his campaign speeches (Biography, 2017). Nathan Bedford Forrest enlisted in the Confederacy after the war broke out and became a private on July 14, 1861 (Nathan Bedford Forrest).
