The Pros And Cons Of School Students In School
In the years after Honig, Congress added emergency exceptions to IDEA permitting school personnel
to immediately remove a student with a disability for up to forty five days to an interim alternative
educational setting (IAES). This immediate removal is permitted if the student committed one of the
following violations on school grounds or at a school function: ■ carries a weapon; ■ knowingly
possesses, uses, sells, or solicits illegal drugs; or ■ inflicts serious bodily injury upon another.
Therefore, when safety is jeopardized, the ten day rule does not need to be followed; the student with
a disability can be removed immediately. Within ten days of that removal, however, the child s IEP
team must meet to conduct the MDR and make a decision regarding the IAES. Additionally, school
personnel are permitted to consider any unique circumstances on a case by case basis when
determining whether to order a change of placement for a student who has violated a code of student
conduct. If the parents disagree with a decision to remove their child from school, they may appeal
that decision to a hearing officer. Similarly, school officials may appeal when they are concerned that
a student s continued presence within the school setting is substantially likely to result in injury to the
student or others. The hearing officer has the authority to either return the student to the placement
from which he/she was removed or order placement in an IAES. During this period, the student

Impact Of International Aid Program On Sub Saharan African...
The intertwined nature of poverty and education, as well as the interplay between the two has
constantly been raised in the literature and research of development (Arnove1980; Deininger 2000;
Don 2001 Torres 2003), inter alia in search of the way for achieving universal primary education
(UPE) in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). It is also the focus of international cooperation
since UPE is one of the major objectives of international development aid (Aiglepierre Wagner 2013).
The year of 2015 is approaching but the issues such as global poverty and education inequality still
persist in many developing countries. An inevitable question arises: has the international aid been a
contributory factor to those recipient countries in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Others such as the World System theory and Dependency theory, see education as an instrument used
by the developed/core countries to penetrate western ideology and values into the
developing/periphery or semi periphery countries as part of the process of exploitation, which worsens
the condition of poverty so the poor remains poor.
To be specific and explicit, the Modernisation theory emerged in the late 1950s claiming that to
improve living standards, leaving poverty and backwardness behind, traditional societies or low
income countries have to learn from and adapt to the values held by the modern western countries
(Fagerlind Saha 1989; Matunhu 2011). The ideas of becoming modern are strongly associated with the
promotion of Westernisation or colonisation as well as the development of dependency between rich
and poor countries (Don 2001, p. 617 618). If we accept this premise, education was considered by
this theory to be endowed with a pivotal role because of its ability to diffuse western values and
knowledge. It was considered a great contribution to the economic productivity in the growth process,
especially of developing countries (Arnove1980, p.48). Some of the proponents of modernisation
theory believe that some unenlightened countries have already benefited a lot from learning about the
successful western model of

Indus Valley Civilization Essay
The Indus Valley civilization is located in India along the Indus River. India is a subcontinent in a
region known as South Asia. Two capital cities in this area are Mohenjo Daro and Harappa. To this
day it includes three out of ten of the world s most populous countries, two mountain nations, and an
island nation. Which includes India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh(countries), Nepal and
Bhutan(mountains), and Sri Lanka(island). The Indus civilization lasted from 2600 to 1900 B.C. and
was known as the Harappan civilization. The Early Harappan phase 3300 2600 B.C., Mature
Harappan phase 2600 1900 B.C., and the Late Harappan phase 1900 1300 B.C. are the three time

Another economic trait is that India is divided into three major zones: the dry Deccan plateau, the
coastal plains on either side of the Deccan, and the Gangetic Plain in the north. The Deccan juts into
the Indian Ocean as a plateau, which lacks much of melting snow that leads into rivers and causes
unproductive agriculture, arid parts, and populated sparsely. The Gangetic Plain is watered by mighty
rivers such as the Indus River, Ganges, and Brahmaputra which carried melting snow from the
mountains. The coastal plains are below Deccan because its separation from low lying mountain
ranges, which contains the Eastern and Western Ghats and because of the low lying mountains,
farmers receive lots of rain water. In the Indus Valley there is not many records to state how their

show some type of authority and governance, though it is not clear. Various theories have developed
over time such as that a single state surrounded all of the communities of the civilization. It is
supported by artifacts, standardized ratio of brick size, the evidence of planned settlements, and the
apparent establishment of sources near sources of raw material. Also that there was no single ruler, but
a number of rulers representing different communities. Clues from statues and images on

Persuasive Essay About Softball
The size of the ball, the speed of the pitch, and the distance from the mound to the plate all are
variables of deciding which one is harder, softball or baseball? Debates break out all over the world
with people fighting why softball is a sport made for girls. There is no real reason why the inventor of
softball made it a bigger ball just for girls, but the difference is clearly noticeable. Studies show that
most professional baseball players have a difficulty hitting from a softball pitcher. In order to prove
this study, there must be drawbacks that make these softball players able to blow by a fastball by some
of the greatest hitters.
Some may believe there is no difference between softball and baseball; when it comes to asking a

Ball movement is one thing pitchers love to have and it will kick the batter in the butt if they can not
learn to read and hit the ball with the spin.
The real question is, which is harder baseball or softball? Being a biased person can have an affect on
the answer to this question. For example, if a girl is asked the question more than likely the response
will be softball, on the other hand if a boy is asked the answer is likely to be baseball. Baseball players
will fight and bicker over how much harder baseball is because of how fast the pitcher pitches; maybe
it is difficult because the ball is smaller which makes it harder to hit. Therefore, asking this question

Huck Finn Symbolism
Huckleberry Finn: His Journey to Self Discovery
There were many reasons why Mark Twain wrote The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Twain was
trying to point out all the flaws or corrupt judgments that society considered okay to have during that
time. Twain was trying to show that people don t change but they should be mindful of how their
actions and opinions are affecting society. This book also showed that people didn t really have much
freedom, even living in a free country many people were held back by beliefs, authority, age, race, etc.
The author, Mark Twain, also showcased many symbols throughout the book. One symbol that is the
main character, Huckleberry Finn. Huck Finn symbolizes America. Both were born free and were
trying to fight for their freedom back. Two other symbols that I noticed were the river and raft. The
river first represented the possibility of Jim and Huck finding freedom from their imprisonment, but
later on in the book the river represented the actual freedom of the friends. The raft symbolized the
friendship of Jim the slave and Huckleberry Finn the abused child. The two spent lots of time bonding
on the raft as it drifted them to their freedom. All three symbols connect to the author s purpose. The
main connection of the symbols is freedom, but they also help prove that a simple friendship can
break the pattern of the hypocritical ways of society. In The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark
Twain uses the protagonist to symbolize self

God is the creator, sustainer, judge, and redeemer. However, the most important characteristic of God
is love. Love is an admirable quality. Genesis is an account of God s magnificent creations. God saw
that everything he created was good. The book of Genesis focuses on six persons and their families:
Adam, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph. God blessed man and all of his creations. For a
moment, God s creation was as He intended; paradise. Man sinned and God became unhappy, but he
still provided for his people. God wanted man to repent. He still wanted things to be good once again.

people that He was with them and that His love endures forever. In Isaiah Chapter 65 66, god revealed
himself to simmers. He said they would be judged both for good and evil. God just wanted the people
to be obedient. As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you. God is admirable because He
once again was giving people another chance. As the new heavens and the new earth that I make will

Nursing and The Organizational Culture of Human Resource...
Organizational culture can play a very important role in any corporation s success. As we learn more
about how to make a company more successful through effective management of Human Resource,
we are learning of the value of people, as a whole, and how they contribute to the success or failure of
an organization. That s even more so true with in healthcare organizations. Nurses play a pivotal role
in the health care profession and make up the majority of healthcare workers in a hospital setting.
However, there is a nursing shortage globally that is expected to increase as nurses from the baby
boom era are set to retire. This is where human resource management and organizational culture come
into play. There have been prior studies that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

a whole.
II. Literature Review
Culture, as defined by Florea, Goldbach, Goldbach (2011), is essential, as it affects service quality,
organizational productivity, and financial results. This occurs even more so in a hospital setting, an
area in which cultures vary within the healthcare providers and their patients. The literature on
organizational culture and its impact on nurses and the healthcare system are increasing in frequency
due to the increase in cultural variety noted in healthcare organizations. According to the article,
Improving Hospital Performance through Organizational Culture (2011), many prior researchers
believed that organizational culture had potential effects on employee motivation and behavior. They
believed that it affected employees productivity, performance, commitment, self confidence and
ethical behavior and many have tested the validity of this theory by researching and studying the
organizational cultures within several industries. Prior research has showed that there is a link between
excellent cultural organization and overall employee performance. Chee, Kamal, Wingender (2011)
decided to conduct a study of their own to determine how organizational culture

The Legacy Of The Kennedy
The Kennedy family name is synonymous with fame and fortune and perfection . But things have
never been perfect behind the scenes of one of the most powerful families in American history. The
first well known Kennedy was Joseph Kennedy. He went to school at Harvard, but he was not very
liked due to his religious practices. He did get married two years after his graduation to Rose
Fitzgerald daughter of the Boston Mayor.( Joseph Kennedy 2). They had a total of nine children;
Joseph Jr., John (Jack), Rosemary, Kathleen, Eunice, Patricia, Robert (Bobby), Jean, and Edward
(Ted).( Joseph Kennedy 2). This was a very large family and he was able to support them with his
work. The Kennedys were one of the most famous families in politics. People ... Show more content

A search party was set out to find the three and within the next day the bodies were found at the
bottom of the ocean. The apparent reasoning was not found out until weeks or months later according
to Wilson. Potential reasons the accident could have happened include mechanical failure, and
whether Kennedy s flying was impeded by an injury to his right foot he recently sustained while para
‐
gliding.(Wilson 2)
The most depressing Kennedy story is of Rosemary Kennedy. As I was reading the article I was
saddened by what had happened to Rosemary. She was 23 when she disappeared from the public eye.
What happened to her is the worst case in the Kennedy family. Both parents believed that Rosemary
could be cured through a combination of holding her to the same standard as her siblings, specialized
education and experimental injections(Hapsis 3) The reason no one ever heard what happened is
because Joe Kennedy wanted no one to know the evil he had done. Joe had chosen a surgical
procedure, without talking to his wife, where a lobotomy was performed on her to try and make
Rosemary normal . The lobotomy did not do this, it caused Rosemary to regress to the mental age of a
two year old and because of this she could not walk or talk( Hapsis 6). According to Hapsis, Rosemary
was no longer mentioned in family letters after 1944, and no one visited her until 1958 when John
secretly went to see her. Rosemary s death was one of the only natural deaths, she died from old age.

Grupo Damm Final Strategic Recommendation
Introduction and Summary of Recommendation Grupo Damm, one of the largest beer brewers in
Spain, is a strong company in a weak home market. Although many opportunities exist for expansion,
the strongest plan for the company to embark on is an aggressive expansion of its business in the
United States. This project will give Damm access to a large consumer base with minimal risk due to
previous conservative investments in the region.
Situation Analysis Grupo Damm s current situation is the third largest beer company in Spain. It is a
large player in a market dominated by two other beer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Basis for Recommendation 1. The Spanish beer market is contracting, and trying to win a larger piece
of a smaller pie will prove very costly (Appendix 2). As the Spanish recession continues, revenue will
decline as less beer is consumed and margins will shrink as consumers buy beer in supermarkets,
significantly constraining Damm s profits (Appendix 3). 2. Damm has already entered the U.S. market
via a 17% acquisition of U.S. Beverage, a specialty distributor that works mainly with premium
imports (Peet). U.S. Beverage has had a successful track record with imports in the past, and this
partnership will allow Grupo Damm to circumvent the process of having to find a reliable importer
and distributor. 3. The U.S. beer market has been growing, and more specifically, the imported
premium beer segment has been growing within the overall market (Appendix 4). Although other
markets have been shown to be growing at a higher rate (Group 6, Slide 5), the U.S. market is several
times larger at over 208 million barrels sold per year (Jones).
Financial Impact of the Recommendation Under a conservative analysis of the project, an expansion
plan in America will have a net present value of over $350 million for Grupo Damm (Appendix 5).
This project requires minimal capital expenditures because U.S. Beverage has already put much of the
groundwork in place. The main expenses Grupo Damm will face under

Euripides Medea Of Euripides
Medea of Euripides is an ancient Greek tragedy play written by Euripides, grounded upon the legend
of two characters Medea and Jason. Euripides wrote Medea of Euripides in 431 BC at a time in
Greece, when males were governing, and women had limited rights. Medea, the protagonist, was the
daughter of Aeetes of Colchis, she was driven by passion and committed horrendous crimes for the
love of Jason. In the opening act, Medea is standing outside of Jason house in Corinth as she
explicates to the Chores how she was victimized by Jason. The Nurse, Chores, and Medea give a
history of Medea and Jason s relationship, and the inciting incidence begins. Medea describes how she
is distraught and shattered because she sacrificed everything for Jason, ... Show more content on

Euripides introduced the Chores in the play to explain the critical levels of mutilation that was formed
among the main characters Jason and Medea. Medea s love for the antagonist character Jason has
caused her to murder her brother, be disloyal to her father, banished, and follow him. The Nurse
designates that Jason is the reason that Medea has committed such horrible crimes. In the first scene,
the Nurse spoke,
Served always Jason. Surely this doth bind,
Through all ill days, the hurts of humankind,
When man and woman is one music move.
But now, the world is angry, and true love
Sick with poison. Jason doth forsake
My mistress and his own sons to make
His couch in a king s chamber (Euripides 2).
Euripides masterly uses powerful word choices, different sentence lengths, informal grammar, rhythm
and a dramatic tone to convey his message. This was customary for that time in Greek literature,
specifically for the theater. The Chores role is to evoke empathy, instruction and clarify Medea s
mentality throughout the play. The principal plot motivation for Jason, who is an opportunist with a
mission to acquire prominence, to discards Medea and his sons in order to marry the king s daughter.
Which leads to Medea s objective to destroy Jason and all that he loved. More conflict arises when the
King Creon tells Medea to take her sons and leave his kingdom forever.
Euripides shows us Medea s power of persuasion and scheming characteristics when she convinces

Why White Killer Whales
Scientists are now worried after a group of killer whales appeared in a group in the Northern part of
the Pacific Ocean. This whale belongs to the dolphin family, and is considered the largest in that
family. The whale is also known as orca and has teeth. Most of them feed on diverse diet, but
individual whales have their own prey. There are those who feed on fish, while others hunt for
dolphins and seals. They are known as apex predators because no animal can dare to prey on them.
They are cosmopolitan and can be found on any ocean in the world.
These whales are social and live together in matrilineal groups. They are known because of the
sophisticated hunting skills which is common to their whole group. This article will explain why white

They are mostly seen in Washington and British Columbia areas.
Transient This type of white killer whales feed exclusively on marine mammals. Generally, they travel
in groups of six animals and have tight family bonds. Their female counterparts have triangular dorsal
fins that are pointed.
Offshore This is a killer whale that was discovered in the North east pacific region in 1988. They feed

Love Not Legalism By Madeleine L Engle
Love Not Legalism
Madeleine L Engle was a fierce thought provoking writer. She challenged me as both a believer and a
writer. Her scatterbrained writing style was relatable to me and so were the things she talked about.
She would have been a wonderful wise woman to grab a meal with. She did not shy away from
controversial topics; but instead, she introduced them. In Walking on Water L Engle sought to share
the freedom available to us if we allow Jesus Christ to break us free from our chains.
One of the topics that L Engle humbly addressed was the topic of legalism. I greatly appreciated this
because I find that many world renowned leaders shy away from talking about it, when in reality it
may be one of the enemy s most disguised tools. When people see God as an unapproachable killjoy, it
becomes natural to grow distant from Him, and I know that before becoming a Christian this was the
biggest stumbling block for me and I know some of the most kindhearted people cannot grasp the fact
that God loves them and that He sent His one and only son to save them. L Engle also tackled the
major misconception that God does not know how to laugh. He created humor and is pretty humorous
himself. George MacDonald said, It is the Heart that is not yet sure of its God that is afraid to laugh in
His presence (131). I am learning that more and more every day. The common trait that my most
joyful friends share is confidence in God s love for them. A relationship with God has so

Gaius Julius Caesar Analysis
The Things Which are Caesar s
Gaius Julius Caesar was a military commander, a Roman consul, and Dictator of Ancient Rome. His
military victories, cult of personality, and influence on Roman life brought him respect in Rome.
Cicero, an orator of the era, confirmed Cesar s accounts of his role during the civil war. In
representing his own role in the Roman Civil War, Julius Caesar sketches a picture of his influence on
his contemporaries that rings true when compared to Cicero s documentation of the same period.
Though Caesar praises himself while Cicero scorns him, a consistent picture of Caesar s influence
emerges from a close reading of the two authors: he instilled fear in the hearts of Roman Senators and
inspired loyalty in Roman Citizens.
In Caesar s account in The Civil War, he presents the Roman Senators persecuting him as
unreasonable and himself as justified, a contrast to Cicero s personal criticisms of the commander.
Caesar states that the Senate is punishing him for his moderate demands (pg. 37). Caesar accounts that
the Roman Senate refuses to dismantle Pompey s army, in addition, he states that the Roman Senate is
using unnecessary measures against him, as he recounts, ...harsh measures were advocated; and the
more savage and vindictive the speaker, the more he was applauded by Caesar s enemies (pg.36 40).
This account paints Caesar s opponents as harboring a vendetta which will result in destruction for
Rome. Caesar portrays the Senate s persecution

Rear Window And Ali Essay
Film has a unique way of showing the prominent ideas of our culture. It reinforces and/or challenges
the ideologies for certain events. In both Rear Window and Ali: Fear Eats the Soul the women are
viewed in different ways. Rear Window is a film by Alfred Hitchcock that describes the life of
Jefferies and how he solves the mystery of Mrs. Thorwald. In Rear Window, there are two different
views of the women. There is Lisa Freemont a strong independent woman and Miss Torso whom
symbolizes desire. There is also a change in gender dynamics in the relationship of Lisa Fremont and
Jefferies. Ali: Eats the Soul by Fassbinder examines the love story of Emmi and Ali. In the film, Ali:

In the Alfred Hitchcock film Rear Window, gender role stereotypes are fulfilled in most characters,
such as Jefferies, Lisa Freemont, and Miss Torso. The film is shot from of viewpoint of Jeffries
apartment which allows the audience to connect to Jefferies because the audience feels as if they are
viewing the same events as Jefferies this is important to understand the male gaze, which is prominent
when looking as Miss Torso. Miss Torso is viewed as the object of desire in Rear Window, which is

Accountability And Accountability
The word accountability is toss around so much latterly it is hard to ignore it. What exactly is
accountability? Everyone claims they are doing it yet so many leaders and employees lack the concept
of accountability. Accountability is a subject that ranges through every spectrum of life.
Accountability is hold each person responsible his or her own actions in the given situation, especially
when we know the circumstances. If we are not to hold each other responsible for each of our own
actions and choices then we will never be able to correct problems and concerns, which will make us
fail as a whole because the smallest individual action can account for the gravest of consequence.
Bustin foreshadows to ignite life within an organization using his Seven Pillars of Accountability
program as key to fulfilling the mission of the businesses by using character, unity, learning, tracking,
urgency, reputation and evolving. Character is the first of Bustin s Seven Pillars of Accountability he
writes the character of an organization is shaped by it values. He mentions that these values are clearly
defined and communicated. Making sure it does what is in the best interest of the employees,
customers, investors and suppliers even in times of great difficulty. Next Bustin explains the pillar of
unity, with everyone understanding the mission, values and vision of the organization and their part in
assisting to achieving them. Learning according to Bustin is the continued commitment to

My Vacation
Could the day become any worse? One afternoon, my grandmother was looking for houses, I wanted
to go to the mall before 8 because there a huge sale. Suddenly the car started to make disturbing
noises, when we stopped at the stoplight the car cut off and begun to overheat! The mall was already
about to close and the car was steaming! So we decided to relax and turn the radio on. My favorite
song came on and the man on the radio offered $200,000 to the first caller, we called and won the
money! My aunt and I called my grandmother to tell her the amazing news, she said this would be the
perfect time to go on vacation! so my family decided we would like to travel within the united states
and while there, we would visit the cities of New York City, Hollywood, and Miami.
The first city my family will visit is New York City! When my family and I arrive we will check into a
room at the Plaza Hotel. I will take my sister and little cousin on the balcony to see the beautiful view!
Kinslea my sister will be ecstatic when she sees the lights from the huge towers and shops above us.
Soon later, my family and I will go to time square to see all of the unique shops, I will purchase a few
outfits for the trip. When we return back to our room we will dress up for supper at the view on the
48th floor, we will relax and watch the alluring view of the city as we revolve around and enjoy our
meal. I will order my favorite food steak! When we arrive back to the room I will slip

A Visit From The Goonsquad
In recent years, Pulitzer Prize winning fiction novels clearly differ in theme and style. The 2011
winner, Jennifer Egan s A Visit from the Goonsquad, is a multi faceted, complex narrative focused on
the music industry. In 2013, Adam Johnson s The Orphan Master s Son, a historical fiction novel on
North Korea, took the prize. Though these novels take place in different countries and deal with
diverging topics, they do have one thing in common: in each of these Pulitzer Prize winning novels,
secondary female characters become deified, allowing the reader to attach the sensation of hope onto
them. This occurs in Egan s novel, as Lulu comes to represent the promise of a new generation. The
same phenomenon occurs with Sun Moon in The Orphan ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dolly describes her daughter as the rod around which the wires were wrapped, regal, and flushed,
smelling of perfume or freshly baked brownies. (190) Lulu is associated with diction that holds
positive connotations. She holds subtle wisdom for her young age, and all encompassing femininity.
Lulu is the antithesis to other characters in the novel whom we see grow up. Of course, other children
are characterized throughout Sasha s kids, Lou s children, Bennie and his high school clan but Lulu is
the only character we see transition into an adult, without losing her youth. Even Kitty, a symbol of
youth and sensuality, is presented in a vulnerable light as having spidery lines and being ragged (193).
It seems as if this continuous mention of youth is central to Lulu s deification. As an adult, Lulu s
deification is intensified. When Alex meets her, he remarks, The slanted winter sun ignited Lulu s hair,
making a nimbus around her face (341). Here, Alex notices a white cloud forming around Lulu s face,
an image reminiscent of a Saint s aureole depicted in religious iconography. Not only does Lulu
become other worldly in her physical attributes, but in her actions. During the final chapter of the
novel, Alex and Bennie attempt to force Scotty to play music. They are physical unable to contain
him. However,

The Benefits Of Raising Minimum Driving Age
While many people think raising the minimum driving age is beneficial, research shows that the
amount of fatal crashes involving 15 to 20 year old drivers has decreased over the past 10 years. If it is
raised, it would not help anything. Teens would still drive around at night... just illegally. Teens are
busy all the time. If they cannot drive they have to rely on someone else all the time to take them
where they need to be. Also, getting a driver s license is a big step in growing up as a teenager. The
minimum driving age has been questioned because of the amount of accidents. Data results have
shown that there are more fatal crashes involving 15 to 20 year old drivers than any other age. But
over the years, that percentage has decreased

Difference Between International Expansion And Inorganic...
Written Assignment unit #7
October 24th, 2017
Companies have an amazing ability to grow and develop on the market. Companies are able to expand
on several different platforms including nationally, internationally, online and many other ways. How
companies are able to develop gives a good idea to how successful they will be in the long run. By
developing different strategies companies are able to develop nationally as well of internationally. By
reaching out into new markets, companies are able to expand even beyond borders.
Describe two major ways in which a company can grow. Give examples to illustrate the two ways of
growing.
Companies are able to grow in many different ways. Two of those ways are international expansion
and inorganic growth. With international expansion companies decide to move their companies to
another country in hopes of breaking into the market in the host countries. Trading in the European
union has risen by 30% in the last 30 years(Davis, p2). Companies want to expand internationally
because they are able to hire for cheaper and establish a competitive advantage over their
competition.Growing internationally can be very difficult. Differences in language, culture, laws,
production cost and other situations that can cause conflict. Inorganic growth is when a company s
joins other already established companies. When joining another company, they could either be
merging or taken over. In horizontal integration is when two companies at the same stage

The Central Value Connecting Mrs. Dalloway And The Hours
The central value connecting Mrs Dalloway and The Hours is an affirmation of life. Although suicides
feature in both Stephen Daldry s film and Virginia Woolf s novel both texts echo Woolf s words from
her 1922 diary: I meant to write about death, only life came breaking in as usual. Both Woolf s
modernist 1925 novel and Daldry s 2002 postmodernist film focus on women whose rich inner lives
are juxtaposed with their outer lives constrained by the contexts in which they live. The characters are
placed in their respective context, to reflect on, or respond to, the consequences of war and AIDS, the
difficulties of personal relationships, class, gender and sexuality.
Mrs Dalloway seeks to narrate the inner life of characters in a single day, Wednesday, 13th June, 1923,
while in The Hours, the action takes place within the span of a single day in three different years,
1923, 1951 and 2001. It communicates 3 parallel narratives with the focus on three different women,
alternating between them throughout the film. In Mrs Dalloway, the chiming of both the grand Big
Ben and the gentler St Margaret s symbolise the significance of time in life, despite a representation of
time as mutable Big Ben, a warning...then the hour, irrevocable , reminding Clarissa of mortality,
while St Margaret s chimes in a little late, gliding into the recesses of the heart and buries itself, to be,
with a tremor of delight, at rest. Woolf seems to say a full life is one that accepts the moment is

Unicef Case Analysis
Why do organisations like UNICEF need branding? i. UNICEF and its national committees were
facing increased competition, particularly from child sponsor organizations such as Save the Children
and World Vision. These organizations raised more money than UNICEF and UNICEF also failed in
forging corporate ties. This may be also because since it was thought to be related UN people
considered it to be rich. ii. UNICEF got the major chunk of its income from voluntary contribution;
however the regular sources of income seem to be shrinking which has made the management
worried. Greeting card is also giving less net revenue. Thus the resources seem to be drying. iii.
Research showed that while the UNICEF image was positive, the ... Show more content on

Similar to other bureaucratic organisations it was thought to be cumbersome. The cynicism associated
with UN was also affecting UNICEF to some extent. ii. The use of number of logos, emblems and
strap lines in different countries by UNICEF is creating a lot of problem in projecting one single
global image for the organisation which is creating a lot of confusion among the people. iii. The
awareness about UNICEF was very shallow in the public as, though the name was well known people
did not know about its functions. iv. The brand profile of UNICEF consisted of both rational and
emotional value; however it could not focus on the emotional part of it. v. One major challenge that
the management at UNESCO is facing is that of aging as most of its volunteers are over 50 years of
age. This has resulted in the formation of a less dynamic image and which is very difficult to get rid
of.
What should protagonist do?
Ans: The protagonist should look into the strengths and weaknesses of the organization. Should look
carefully as what people perceive the organization and what the organization wants the people to feel
about the organization. When this gap is analysed then, she should find out the alternatives which can
fill this gap and bring about desired results. The proposed recommendations can be: i. Maintaining a

Lady Capulet And The Nurse
Similarities and differences in literature help us to obtain a more developed understanding of
characters and their surroundings. Within Shakespeare s Romeo and Juliet , there are an abundance of
contrasting personalities. One of the most recognizable out of these is that of the relationship between
Lady Capulet and the Nurse. Shakespeare has placed these contradictory identities so that the reader
may be able to see the passionate love of Juliet by Romeo. Within the play, there are several examples
of the contrast between characters. A famous illustration of this found is in Act I Scene III: It is an
honor I dream not of (Juliet) An honor! Were not I thine only nurse, I would say thou hadst sucked
wisdom from thy teat. (Nurse) Well, think of marriage now. Here in Verona, ladies of esteem are made

Nay, bigger; women grow by men. (Nurse). Lady Capulet empowers her daughter to marry early so
that she will not have to compete with younger and healthier women. Further pushing her argument of
the loss of Juliet s social life, the Nurse tells Lady Capulet and her daughter that once she settled down
she would lose her youth. Lady Capulet and the Nurse aid readers in understanding Juliet s childhood
because both of the women raised her. Shakespeare accentuates the caring and humorous ideas of the
Nurse and contrasts them with Lady Capulet s deliberate and serious views on marriage. Lady Capulet
s ideals can be expected because of her own arranged marriage with Lord Capulet. She may want
someone to be sympathetic to her past, or simply just want company. In either case, the Nurse s low
key jokes hint that she feel the opposite; a man would only drag Juliet down in her years of

Comparing Dollar General s Financial Performance with that of Family Dollar Dollar General has

At this point, Family Dollar was probably a better stock to invest in. Dollar General had also
experienced a decrease in total assets over this period while Family Dollar s assets increased by nearly
25 percent. The accounting errors that took place accompanied with lawsuits that followed played a
major role in some these numbers for Dollar General. I believe that both companies performed well
financially. If it wasn t for the lawsuits, Dollar General probably would have performed much better
financially then Family Dollar. Based on the factors mentioned above, it s hard to say who performed
better financially. Dollar General s net income may have been higher but they had a loss in total assets
and also had a much lower EPS. 2. What is your assessment of the accounting problems at Dollar
General? Did anything unethical occur? What evidence indicates that the misstatements were simply
errors, with no deliberate intent? What reasons can you think of that would account for why the
misstatements might well have been deliberate and not simply inadvertent errors? The accounting
restatement was unfortunate for Dollar General but I don t believe it will have had that big of an
impact when they look back on it in the future. Their strategies allowed them to keep a profitable

Analysis Of The Film Gladiators
The film Gladiators was about the reign or Marcus Aurelius coming to an end. When Marcus chooses
Maximus, an army general and a powerful man with good morals, over his own son Commodus, to be
heir to the throne of the Roman Empire, Commodus is enraged and sentences Maximus and his family
to death. Maximus escapes his death sentence but is unable to save his family. The loss of his family
causes his willpower to disappear which allows him to be captured and put into the games of the
Gladiators until death. The only thing keeping him fighting is that he has a chance to rise to the top
and take revenge on the man who destroyed everything he loved, the new emperor Commodus.
In my opinion, I would say the protagonist of this film was Maximus by far. Maximus was an army
general with good morals, a strong man who cared for others, a family man who would do anything
for the ones he loved, but most of all, he had courage. He wasn t afraid to do what needed to be done
when it was necessary. In the film, Maximus said something along the lines of I am required to kill
when it is necessary, not for enjoyment. His internal compass spins correctly, unlike the antagonists. I
would deem Commodus the antagonist of this film. First, he kills Marcus Aurelius, the most loved
ruler of Roam and a wonderful man, once he finds out that he isn t the chosen heir to the Roman
Empire. Second, he sentences Maximus and his entire to family to death in a brutal, inhumane way.
Commodus has some

Vulnerability of the Elderly Depicted in the Play, A Cream...
In the play A cream cracker under the settee I think the Alan Bennett is trying to convey a message

isolated relationship with Wilfred when he was alive as they never talked about there feelings, when
Doris had her miscarriage I think Wilfred was scared of showing emotion. The miscarriage has
affected Doris as she says If it had lived, I might have had grandchildren now. Wouldn t have been in

Heart Of Darkness By Joseph Conrad Essay
One of the biggest fallacies one could make is believe with certainty that humankind is only one way
(good or bad) without taking into account that ascertaining the precise percentage of how good and
how bad humanity is almost inconceivable. The only thing one can infer is that every human and
everything created by humans has two sides to it: the form and the substance. Joseph Conrad s novella
Heart of Darkness shows precisely how dangerous it is to put our trust in a concept, for example:
colonization, without realizing that most of the time one only gets to see the form and not the
substance.
In this essay, my purpose is to demonstrate that Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is mainly a
novella about the discrepancy between substance and form. In order to prove my point I will bring
into discussion the matter of colonization and two of the characters: the General Manager and Kurtz.
Firstly, in Heart of Darkness colonization is perceived from two different perspectives: the first
perspective of the ones not involved directly, the second one of the ones who had an active role in the
action. In regard to this, the form is represented by how colonization was considered by the outsider,
namely the one who believed it to be an act of kindness and an attempt to bring light in the land of
darkness. For instance, Marlow s aunt, who was the one who helped him fulfil his dream of going to
Africa, maintained that her nephew was: like an emissary of light, something like a lower

How Successful Was The New Deal Dbq
Franklin Delano Roosevelt s New Deal wouldn t of even been made if it weren t for the Great
Depression. The Great Depression started on October 24, 1929. Stock prices were plummeting rapidly
by the minute. This all resulted in the stock market crashing leaving millions of American citizens
unemployed (about 25%)(Source A). Banks, factories, mines, steels, and mills were all closing.
Families were left homeless and starving on the street. 600 banks were closed and over 34 million had
no source of income(Source C). Lots of homeless people were living in Hoovervilles, deprived towns
made of cardboard, metal, and scraps(Source C). In 1933, when Franklin Roosevelt became president,
his goal was to return the United State s stock market back to normal. His plan was the New Deal. In

America. He did this by creating new jobs for people. During the Great Depression 25% of people
were unemployed. That was about 13 million people(Source B). As a result of this, American families

Persuasive Essay On Fast Food
As time has passed, Americans have become downright lazy and inconsiderate when it comes to
preparing their meals. They substitute fresh, nutritional, balanced meals for a big mac on their way to
work. Since Americans have become so lazy, the emphasis is on quick service rather than the quality
of the food. Open 24/7! It takes two hands to hold a whopper! There s fast food, then there s KFC!
Your way, right away! As Americans continue to fill their bodies with fatty, processed, fake food,
people around the world starve, and their access to clean drinking water is limited. So how is America
to help? Now, when I state this, know it is not for my own gain. I am not starving, malnourished, nor
am I grossly obese. This is simply a gain for the world, so that we may help those in need. In order for
fast food chains to shut down, we would need to get rid of the obese people. How do we do this in a
civil manner? Feed them to the malnourished. Now I know what you re thinking what is considered
obese? Some people work out excessively, and a healthy 400 pound male that can lift that weight has a
higher BMI because of the muscle. I mean to say the large ones, made entirely out of excess fat, the
meat ready to slide off their bones the way it slides off of Colonel Sander s chicken. By feeding these
overweight people to the malnourished, we not only will solve world hunger, but this will solve
overpopulation. People over the BMI of 30 + will be put to death, and for a reasonable, redeeming
cause. Those who are 18 will receive the meat of the generous donors. Those in the healthy range will
continue to eat the way they do, while being monitored by a doctor, of course, so we can watch their
eligibility for being overweight. Those who are overweight put on a watch list. The lower the BMI on
the overweight side, the less you are to be harassed by the government. If you re teeter tottering on the
obese line, you are put in a hospital, so that as soon as you can be put to slaughter, it s done. Not only
will this solve world hunger and overpopulation, but America won t need volunteers to go over to
these underdeveloped, third world countries, which will spare our time and supplies. Why would we

False Memory In The Film Total Recall
Is it possible to implant a memory into someone s mind? When it comes to memory being implanted
to an individual mind I think that is the term false memories comes in. False memory is the variation
between memory and imagination which becomes obscured, and events that never actually happened
but become sewn into an individual memory as real events. This individual then believe that the
memory is real and most can even describe these false memories vividly as if they really experience
them. For example in the movie Total Recall , Arnold Schwarzenegger plays an inattentive
construction worker in the year 2084 name Douglas. Douglas visits a company named Recall, which
plants false memories into people s brains, in order for individual s to experience the thrill of Mars
without having to travel there. In the movie Arnold believes that the memories of mars is real but later
discover that his entire life is actually a false memory and that everything was that he thought was real
was just implanted into his mind . ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Human memory is highly subjective to misconception due to the high quantity of outside influences
that affect what remember and how we remember it. There has been a time where it has been shown
that outside influences from our family such as family resentment or other occurrences might be the
cause of false memories being implanted into what we actually believe. False memories can be
implanted in individual s minds that do not consider themselves powerless or weak and uncritical.
This shows how weak a person mind can be impacted by someone feeding them false information or
even just asking them a question about their past. For example, most psychiatrists are able to bring up
false memories inside adults who thought that they had maybe suppressed of these thoughts. A simple

perceiving the world over the other in their conclusions. Ian McEwan s Enduring Love, shows favour
of Joe s scientific and rational view but also demonstrates that it is flawed. Similarly, Tennessee
Williams shows that realism in inevitable but is not always desirable in the play A Streetcar Names
Desire. Both texts explore explore the responses of their protagonists of a crisis with Ian McEwan s
post modern novel Enduring Love showing the destruction of Joe Rose s world following a hot air
ballooning tragedy through his scientific perspective. While the southern gothic play of A Streetcar
Named Desire explores the perception of Blanche following life s tragedies of the death of her
husband. There are many similarities and differences within the text with Enduring Love s Joe and A
Streetcar Named Desire s Stanley both representing the favoured perception of logic and reality, while
characters such as Blanche and Jed expressing the less favourable perception of fantasy and delusion.
Other characters of Clarissa and Stella, have their perception shaped by their emotional relationships
that still result in unfavourable outcomes.
In McEwan s conclusion of Enduring Love, Joe s perception of logic and science is presented to the
reader as the privilege view in the novel. This scientific perception was shown throughout the novel
with his view being all the

Effective Follower
Within every team, there are followers and leaders. They both coexist within the same team and are
mandatory for an organization to succeed. A team will not be effective without followers because they
see where the leader wants to go and why, and then help find the best way to get there quickly, safely
and effectively (Daft, pg. 195). When first reading and finding the logic in this statement it can have a
person second guessing his or herself because you are taught from when you are a child not to be a
follower. However, after continuing the chapter and getting a clear understanding, I realize that being
a productive follower is just as or more important as that of a leader and each role has its place in the
organization. This is supported by the author s statement, for an organization to succeed there must be
people who willingly and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is defined as not considering possibilities beyond what he or she is told, does not contribute to the
organization, and accepts the leader s ideas without assessing or evaluating them (pg. 199). However,
conformist fits under that dimension and the definition is a follower who participates actively in the
organization but does not utilize critical thinking skills in his or her task behavior (pg. 200). That
description sounds like someone who comes to work, does their job, and has no opinion or voices his
or her concerns. I am definitely someone that contributes to the job and a participant in the
organization. The jobs I have been employed for I have fully contributed and always go beyond what
is expected. I will agree that I do not challenge authority which stems from a childhood of being told
not to challenge authority or elders. Speaking up to management, sharing ideas and thoughts is a skill
that I agree needs improvement. I would voice my opinion and that would be the

The Methods and Techniques of Judge Dee from Celebrated...
Judge Dee is a magistrate for the Chinese Province of Ching Ping and he used many methods and
techniques to solve his cases. He also had significant influence on the society. Judge Dee mainly
utilized two methods to solve his cases, and they were using disguises and torture. He first used
disguises in the case The Double Murder at Dawn to try to find any suspicious man or women that
might look like he or she has been in a conflict instead; he finds the beginnings of the second case The
Strange Corpse. This is always a simple way to get information because if he appeared as a magistrate,
people will be unwilling to dispense the information needed. So if he dresses up like a doctor like he
did at the beginning, people would be willing to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Judge Dee was considered the Father and Mother Official. Magistrates function as a judge, jury,
prosecutor, and detective. He was the highest power in his district and was in charge of many things.
He was in charge of the town, land administration, the tribunal, the bureau for the collection of taxes,
the register office, and the public order in the district. Magistrates had to have great moral strength,
intellectual power, and refined literati also trained on Chinese letter and arts. Without any of these
skills, the magistrate would have failed his job. He would have barely gained any support since these
skills were signs of a good leader. The Magistrates were almost miniature monarchs of their own
lands. Even though whatever they say is not law, they are able to convict and torture people until they
listen. Judge Dee took everything under his control form the detective work to sentences. He used
lieutenants and constables to help out, but most work was done single handedly. No one else I the
district has more power than him. A few magistrates in the book even had their own private army for
example; the magistrate in Turnip Pass had a garrison to protect the area from criminals. Magistrates
are supposed to be truth seeking men. Judge Dee is obviously truth seeking because he tries to see
why the husband died in The Strange Corpse even though no one filed a complaint, he did this for
righteousness, which is looked for in

Legal Assistant, Law, And Law
A paralegal is defined as a person trained in subsidiary legal matters but not completely qualified as a
lawyer. A legal assistant is employed by a lawyer, law office, government agencies, or other entity to
work under the direction of a licensed attorney. Becoming a legal assistant requires an associate s
degree or a certificate in legal assistant studies. A legal assistant can pass the test given by the National
Association of Legal Assistants and be referred to as a Certified Legal Assistant. Once someone
becomes a CLA they are required to take several hours of continuing educations to maintain their
status. At Miller Motte some of the courses a person interested in becoming a legal assistant may
include Introduction to Criminal Justice, Introduction to Law, Constitutional Law, Writing for
Criminal Justice, and Criminal Law and Procedure. In some circumstances an attorney may hire a
college graduate that has obtained a bachelor s degree with no legal experience and allow them to
learn on the job. Attorneys that specialize in Family Law, Business Law, Tax Law, and Bankruptcy
Law are a few examples of the different attorney offices a legal assistant may be found. Being a legal
assistant is often challenging and rewarding. Legal assistants do a variety of tasks including
organizing files, doing legal research, and even drafting documents. All these tasks support lawyers in
his or her day to day activities. When a legal assistant is asked to organize the files he

Alternate Theories On Women s Underrepresentation
Alternate Theories on Women s Underrepresentation Initially it was thought that women were
underrepresented in politics and elected office because they were underrepresented in the eligibility
pool (Welch, 1978, 372). The idea was that women were socialized to believe that their duty was in
the home raising children. As such, there were very few women in the eligibility pool, the typical jobs
that have a tendency to lend themselves to a future in public office: law, business, and medicine
among others (Welch, 1978, 373). This line of reasoning would suggest that all that has to be done to
increase the proportion of women in public office is to increase their presence in such fields and
disciplines (Fox, Lawless, and Feeley, 2001, 412). This explanation, however, falls short. The
proportion of women in these careers has increased immensely and yet the disparity still persists (Fox
and Lawless, 2011, 60). When considering potential factors that contribute to women s
underrepresentation in elected office, another thought may be that perhaps voters just do not vote for
women. Research shows that when women run they tend to win at the same rate as men and,
furthermore, there is little evidence to suggest any kind of systemic bias against women at the polls
(Lawless and Pearson, 2008, 67). However, additional research into the matter has qualified this
claim. There is evidence that voters tend to view masculine characteristics being self confident,
assertive, tough, and

The Importance of Sustainability in a Company
1. Discuss in what way an improved sustainability performance can benefit a company.
Even with the current trend pushed by consumers awareness related to increasing sustainability
throughout companies processes and activities, at the end, they always rely on profit to pay its
employees, suppliers and shareholders. If we think with a strictly economic point of view, the first
impression about sustainability is not a positive one. A simple thought might consider all the money
spent with ISO certifications, GRI reports, cleaner production, and health and safety as an obstacle
towards the maximization of profits or, at best, as necessary money used to fulfill all the legal
requirements.
By this old way of thinking, neither employees nor shareholders would like to see money being used
to support some educational or social initiative instead of being used to pay profit sharing or
dividends. For very long time, this dominant thought, together with the lack of awareness about the
environmental and social impacts caused by companies, led to decades of a debate corporations
against society and environment . Even though this debate persists nowadays influenced by left wing
thinkers, big part of society and the executives started to see this relation as a synergy instead of as a
competition.
Pushed by consumers and scientific discoveries, some leading companies started this shift and they
realize that what was supposed to be a threat is, in fact, a sea of opportunities that would

Percutaneous Medical Image And Ultrasound Image
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 Objectives
It has been proved that ultrasound imaging is the main and primary device that is used as guidance for
percutaneous medical procedures (Gray 2006). However, poor needle tip localization needs to be
solved. Also, localize the needle tip in deep locations (`Cheung Rohling 2004) and slope insertion
angles (Edgombe Hocking 2010). Enhancing the needle visibility will lead to decrease procedures
failure.
Mohammad mentioned that in his studies in 2013, an ultrasound actuated needle with a transducer can
be visualized under ultrasound colour Doppler mode, which also, can reduce the force during needle
penetration process. However, the validity of the actuating needle in this study needs to be proved.

2.3. A biopsy and nervous system are mentioned in section 2.4. And 2.5. 2.6 And 2.7 sections are
talking about the ultrasound and Doppler imaging with needle localization. A Needle phantom and its
types are illustrated in section 2.9. Finally, an ultrasound actuated needle device piezoelectric, and its
components are presented in Section 2.10.
2.1 Background
There are many clinical practices which involve skin percutaneous diagnosis and therapies. A thin tool
such needle, catheter, tissue ablation probe etc, is inserted into a tissue to reach a target (Abolhassani
et al., 2006). Take a biopsy from (breast, kidney, and liver), nerve block, drug delivery and blood
sampling, are some applications of percutaneous needle procedures (Bishoff et al. 1998). The accuracy
of needle insertion determines the efficiency of a percutaneous diagnosis or therapy (Youk et al.,
2007). According to Abolhassani et al., (2006), the type of application or procedure determines the
required accuracy of the procedures. For example, biopsy, anaesthesia, and brachytherapy, are
required accuracy of millimetres while in other producers such as eye, brain, ear, and foetus are
required much higher accuracy in nanometres. According to Kohn et al., (2000), the target could be in
the millimetre neighbourhood of another organ, nerve or vessel. Hence, needle insertion producers

Similarities Between Mormonism And Rastafarians
Religion as a collective is constantly moving, changing, evolving. With the introduction of New
Religious Movements, pluralism, globalization and glocalization, interfaith initiatives it seems safe to
say that religion will forever remain fluid and changing, as faiths adapt to culture, society, and the
needs of their followers they will not die out. I believe that Mormonism and Rastafarians show this
with great abundance.
While both Rastafarians and Mormonism share a good amount of similar thoughts, they also cater to
very separate demographics. I realize in writing that statement how counterintuitive it sounds, thus,
first we will explore how Rastafi and Mormons are similar in their faiths.
Both the Mormon and Rastafarian movements cater to very specific demographics. Mormonism caters
to those who believe that the Christian Church lost it s way after the death of Christ, and restore what
the Mormons consider true Christianity, as opposed to apostasy (abandonment of principles) which
they feel characterizes the Christian churches. (1) While Rastafari caters to an ethnic group that has
experienced severe oppression at the hands of Babylon , they intend to revive the Way of the Ancients,
their concept of the lost civilization of precolonial Africa, and to free people of African extraction
from subservience. (2) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Old English Proverb, Aesop For Children
Catalyzing Innovation The old English proverb, Aesop for Children, tells the story of a father who
charges his sons to break a bundle of sticks one by one. They easily do so. Then he charges them to
break the united bundle of sticks. None come close. This is a proverb demonstrating the strength in
unity and coordination. This is a proverb an American engineer and inventor largely upheld
throughout the course of his life s accomplishments. Douglas Engelbart, largely known as the inventor
of the mouse, affected the history of computing technology in a much deeper manner. Rather a
chronological account of Engelbart s entire life, this research paper analyzes his greatest
accomplishments in a chronological order that directly supported the increased coordination of user s
efforts. Douglas Engelbart transcended the limits of computing technology by aligning human minds
with computing systems through his collaborative user interface scheme. In order to properly highlight
Engelbart s accomplishments, some context is needed in which he developed his collaborative user
interface scheme. In the late 1950s Engelbart joined Stanford Research Institute and there he proposed
his vision in a research proposal titled Augmenting Human Intellect: A Conceptual Framework. This
extensive document poses a hypothesis that the intellectual capacity of a human can be improved with
an engineered approach restructuring the components of our system of comprehension. The
framework is best described

roebuck. The witch believed that was the end for them so she returned to her home with peace. The
little girl and the roe went on their way, and they found a secluded cottage out in the middle of the
forest. They became content living in the cottage. One day, the king and his huntsmen were in the

For example, someone in the higher or middle class a better say in the government than someone in
the lower class. The people in the upper class know more people, seem more trusting, and have a
better chance of making something of themselves. People in the upper class tend to know other people
that are in the social class, which makes them look good as well. They are also more informed on what
goes on in their community and country. Those who are higher up know how to dress better, and they
have the extra money to spend on themselves. Usually, when someone feels right with themselves and
other can tell. This gives everyone else a sense that they could be trusted. They also have a better
chance of escalating themselves socially. They are already in the upper class, which only means they
can only do better. Rather people in the lower class, they do not much social contact with other higher
than them. Those who are in the lower class tend to this sense of not caring. They do not care how
they dress or what is going on in the government. Their main goal is to try to get by, day by day,
without hitting rock bottom. Those that are in the upper class do not have to worry about this because
they usually come from a line a

  • 2. The Pros And Cons Of School Students In School In the years after Honig, Congress added emergency exceptions to IDEA permitting school personnel to immediately remove a student with a disability for up to forty five days to an interim alternative educational setting (IAES). This immediate removal is permitted if the student committed one of the following violations on school grounds or at a school function: ■ carries a weapon; ■ knowingly possesses, uses, sells, or solicits illegal drugs; or ■ inflicts serious bodily injury upon another. Therefore, when safety is jeopardized, the ten day rule does not need to be followed; the student with a disability can be removed immediately. Within ten days of that removal, however, the child s IEP team must meet to conduct the MDR and make a decision regarding the IAES. Additionally, school personnel are permitted to consider any unique circumstances on a case by case basis when determining whether to order a change of placement for a student who has violated a code of student conduct. If the parents disagree with a decision to remove their child from school, they may appeal that decision to a hearing officer. Similarly, school officials may appeal when they are concerned that a student s continued presence within the school setting is substantially likely to result in injury to the student or others. The hearing officer has the authority to either return the student to the placement from which he/she was removed or order placement in an IAES. During this period, the student ... • 4. Impact Of International Aid Program On Sub Saharan African... The intertwined nature of poverty and education, as well as the interplay between the two has constantly been raised in the literature and research of development (Arnove1980; Deininger 2000; Don 2001 Torres 2003), inter alia in search of the way for achieving universal primary education (UPE) in the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). It is also the focus of international cooperation since UPE is one of the major objectives of international development aid (Aiglepierre Wagner 2013). The year of 2015 is approaching but the issues such as global poverty and education inequality still persist in many developing countries. An inevitable question arises: has the international aid been a contributory factor to those recipient countries in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Others such as the World System theory and Dependency theory, see education as an instrument used by the developed/core countries to penetrate western ideology and values into the developing/periphery or semi periphery countries as part of the process of exploitation, which worsens the condition of poverty so the poor remains poor. To be specific and explicit, the Modernisation theory emerged in the late 1950s claiming that to improve living standards, leaving poverty and backwardness behind, traditional societies or low income countries have to learn from and adapt to the values held by the modern western countries (Fagerlind Saha 1989; Matunhu 2011). The ideas of becoming modern are strongly associated with the promotion of Westernisation or colonisation as well as the development of dependency between rich and poor countries (Don 2001, p. 617 618). If we accept this premise, education was considered by this theory to be endowed with a pivotal role because of its ability to diffuse western values and knowledge. It was considered a great contribution to the economic productivity in the growth process, especially of developing countries (Arnove1980, p.48). Some of the proponents of modernisation theory believe that some unenlightened countries have already benefited a lot from learning about the successful western model of ... Two capital cities in this area are Mohenjo Daro and Harappa. To this day it includes three out of ten of the world s most populous countries, two mountain nations, and an island nation. Which includes India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh(countries), Nepal and Bhutan(mountains), and Sri Lanka(island). Another economic trait is that India is divided into three major zones: the dry Deccan plateau, the coastal plains on either side of the Deccan, and the Gangetic Plain in the north. • 6. Persuasive Essay About Softball The size of the ball, the speed of the pitch, and the distance from the mound to the plate all are variables of deciding which one is harder, softball or baseball? Debates break out all over the world with people fighting why softball is a sport made for girls. There is no real reason why the inventor of softball made it a bigger ball just for girls, but the difference is clearly noticeable. Studies show that most professional baseball players have a difficulty hitting from a softball pitcher. In order to prove this study, there must be drawbacks that make these softball players able to blow by a fastball by some of the greatest hitters. Ball movement is one thing pitchers love to have and it will kick the batter in the butt if they can not learn to read and hit the ball with the spin. The real question is, which is harder baseball or softball? Being a biased person can have an affect on the answer to this question. For example, if a girl is asked the question more than likely the response will be softball, on the other hand if a boy is asked the answer is likely to be baseball. Baseball players will fight and bicker over how much harder baseball is because of how fast the pitcher pitches; maybe it is difficult because the ball is smaller which makes it harder to hit. • 7. Huck Finn Symbolism Huckleberry Finn: His Journey to Self Discovery There were many reasons why Mark Twain wrote The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Twain was trying to point out all the flaws or corrupt judgments that society considered okay to have during that time. Twain was trying to show that people don t change but they should be mindful of how their actions and opinions are affecting society. This book also showed that people didn t really have much freedom, even living in a free country many people were held back by beliefs, authority, age, race, etc. The author, Mark Twain, also showcased many symbols throughout the book. One symbol that is the main character, Huckleberry Finn. Huck Finn symbolizes America. Both were born free and were trying to fight for their freedom back. Two other symbols that I noticed were the river and raft. The river first represented the possibility of Jim and Huck finding freedom from their imprisonment, but later on in the book the river represented the actual freedom of the friends. The raft symbolized the friendship of Jim the slave and Huckleberry Finn the abused child. The two spent lots of time bonding on the raft as it drifted them to their freedom. All three symbols connect to the author s purpose. The main connection of the symbols is freedom, but they also help prove that a simple friendship can break the pattern of the hypocritical ways of society. As we learn more about how to make a company more successful through effective management of Human Resource, we are learning of the value of people, as a whole, and how they contribute to the success or failure of an organization. That s even more so true with in healthcare organizations. Nurses play a pivotal role in the health care profession and make up the majority of healthcare workers in a hospital setting. However, there is a nursing shortage globally that is expected to increase as nurses from the baby boom era are set to retire. Literature Review Culture, as defined by Florea, Goldbach, Goldbach (2011), is essential, as it affects service quality, organizational productivity, and financial results. This occurs even more so in a hospital setting, an area in which cultures vary within the healthcare providers and their patients. The literature on organizational culture and its impact on nurses and the healthcare system are increasing in frequency due to the increase in cultural variety noted in healthcare organizations. According to the article, Improving Hospital Performance through Organizational Culture (2011), many prior researchers believed that organizational culture had potential effects on employee motivation and behavior. They believed that it affected employees productivity, performance, commitment, self confidence and ethical behavior and many have tested the validity of this theory by researching and studying the organizational cultures within several industries. Prior research has showed that there is a link between excellent cultural organization and overall employee performance. As I was reading the article I was saddened by what had happened to Rosemary. She was 23 when she disappeared from the public eye. What happened to her is the worst case in the Kennedy family. Both parents believed that Rosemary could be cured through a combination of holding her to the same standard as her siblings, specialized education and experimental injections(Hapsis 3) The reason no one ever heard what happened is because Joe Kennedy wanted no one to know the evil he had done. Joe had chosen a surgical procedure, without talking to his wife, where a lobotomy was performed on her to try and make Rosemary normal . The lobotomy did not do this, it caused Rosemary to regress to the mental age of a two year old and because of this she could not walk or talk( Hapsis 6). Final Strategic Recommendation George Simmons Friday, May 4, 2012 International Studies Program Barcelona Professor Fischer Grupo Damm Final Strategic Recommendation Introduction and Summary of Recommendation Grupo Damm, one of the largest beer brewers in Spain, is a strong company in a weak home market. Although many opportunities exist for expansion, the strongest plan for the company to embark on is an aggressive expansion of its business in the United States. Basis for Recommendation 1. The Spanish beer market is contracting, and trying to win a larger piece of a smaller pie will prove very costly (Appendix 2). As the Spanish recession continues, revenue will decline as less beer is consumed and margins will shrink as consumers buy beer in supermarkets, significantly constraining Damm s profits (Appendix 3). 2. Damm has already entered the U.S. market via a 17% acquisition of U.S. Beverage, a specialty distributor that works mainly with premium imports (Peet). U.S. Beverage has had a successful track record with imports in the past, and this partnership will allow Grupo Damm to circumvent the process of having to find a reliable importer and distributor. 3. The U.S. beer market has been growing, and more specifically, the imported premium beer segment has been growing within the overall market (Appendix 4). Although other markets have been shown to be growing at a higher rate (Group 6, Slide 5), the U.S. market is several times larger at over 208 million barrels sold per year (Jones). Financial Impact of the Recommendation Under a conservative analysis of the project, an expansion plan in America will have a net present value of over $350 million for Grupo Damm (Appendix 5). This project requires minimal capital expenditures because U.S. Beverage has already put much of the groundwork in place. The main expenses Grupo Damm will face under ... Euripides wrote Medea of Euripides in 431 BC at a time in Greece, when males were governing, and women had limited rights. Medea, the protagonist, was the daughter of Aeetes of Colchis, she was driven by passion and committed horrendous crimes for the love of Jason. In the opening act, Medea is standing outside of Jason house in Corinth as she explicates to the Chores how she was victimized by Jason. Euripides introduced the Chores in the play to explain the critical levels of mutilation that was formed among the main characters Jason and Medea. Medea s love for the antagonist character Jason has caused her to murder her brother, be disloyal to her father, banished, and follow him. The Nurse designates that Jason is the reason that Medea has committed such horrible crimes. In the first scene, the Nurse spoke, Served always Jason. Surely this doth bind, Through all ill days, the hurts of humankind, When man and woman is one music move. But now, the world is angry, and true love Sick with poison. Jason doth forsake My mistress and his own sons to make His couch in a king s chamber (Euripides 2). Euripides masterly uses powerful word choices, different sentence lengths, informal grammar, rhythm and a dramatic tone to convey his message. This was customary for that time in Greek literature, specifically for the theater. The Chores role is to evoke empathy, instruction and clarify Medea s mentality throughout the play. The principal plot motivation for Jason, who is an opportunist with a mission to acquire prominence, to discards Medea and his sons in order to marry the king s daughter. Which leads to Medea s objective to destroy Jason and all that he loved. More conflict arises when the King Creon tells Medea to take her sons and leave his kingdom forever. • 15. Love Not Legalism By Madeleine L Engle Love Not Legalism Madeleine L Engle was a fierce thought provoking writer. She challenged me as both a believer and a writer. Her scatterbrained writing style was relatable to me and so were the things she talked about. She would have been a wonderful wise woman to grab a meal with. She did not shy away from controversial topics; but instead, she introduced them. In Walking on Water L Engle sought to share the freedom available to us if we allow Jesus Christ to break us free from our chains. One of the topics that L Engle humbly addressed was the topic of legalism. I greatly appreciated this because I find that many world renowned leaders shy away from talking about it, when in reality it may be one of the enemy s most disguised tools. When people see God as an unapproachable killjoy, it becomes natural to grow distant from Him, and I know that before becoming a Christian this was the biggest stumbling block for me and I know some of the most kindhearted people cannot grasp the fact that God loves them and that He sent His one and only son to save them. L Engle also tackled the major misconception that God does not know how to laugh. He created humor and is pretty humorous himself. George MacDonald said, It is the Heart that is not yet sure of its God that is afraid to laugh in His presence (131). I am learning that more and more every day. The common trait that my most joyful friends share is confidence in God s love for them. A relationship with God has so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This particular quote explains that Esperanza desperately longs to leave Mango Street behind, but she also feels that she may be trapped forever. Esperanza is coming to realize she may never get out of Mango Street. Esperanza feels as though she is trapped many times. Three areas where Esperanza realizes just how trapped she is are a treasure in a furniture shop that they cannot have, Esperanza s family making lies about when they will leave, and the past experiences of Esperanza s family members. Esperanza knows she is stuck on Mango Street, and that there is little chance that she may leave someday because of the number of times that she is denied something, such as in the furniture store. Esperanza feels ashamed and unprivileged with her home. Her family, on the other hand, tries to escape Mango Street as often as possible and visit rich homes nearby, the homes that they see in their dreams. Esperanza has become more ashamed of her home because of the way the nun that walked by one day reacted to her house, and by the way everyone around her wants to move away. She does not enjoy looking at what she cannot have. All she can do is watch her father tell stories of the house they will have one day as he holds a lottery ticket between his fingers. • 17. Gaius Julius Caesar Analysis The Things Which are Caesar s Gaius Julius Caesar was a military commander, a Roman consul, and Dictator of Ancient Rome. His military victories, cult of personality, and influence on Roman life brought him respect in Rome. Cicero, an orator of the era, confirmed Cesar s accounts of his role during the civil war. In representing his own role in the Roman Civil War, Julius Caesar sketches a picture of his influence on his contemporaries that rings true when compared to Cicero s documentation of the same period. Though Caesar praises himself while Cicero scorns him, a consistent picture of Caesar s influence emerges from a close reading of the two authors: he instilled fear in the hearts of Roman Senators and inspired loyalty in Roman Citizens. In Caesar s account in The Civil War, he presents the Roman Senators persecuting him as unreasonable and himself as justified, a contrast to Cicero s personal criticisms of the commander. Caesar states that the Senate is punishing him for his moderate demands (pg. 37). Caesar accounts that the Roman Senate refuses to dismantle Pompey s army, in addition, he states that the Roman Senate is using unnecessary measures against him, as he recounts, ...harsh measures were advocated; and the more savage and vindictive the speaker, the more he was applauded by Caesar s enemies (pg.36 40). The 2011 winner, Jennifer Egan s A Visit from the Goonsquad, is a multi faceted, complex narrative focused on the music industry. In 2013, Adam Johnson s The Orphan Master s Son, a historical fiction novel on North Korea, took the prize. Though these novels take place in different countries and deal with diverging topics, they do have one thing in common: in each of these Pulitzer Prize winning novels, secondary female characters become deified, allowing the reader to attach the sensation of hope onto them. • 25. The Central Value Connecting Mrs. Dalloway And The Hours The central value connecting Mrs Dalloway and The Hours is an affirmation of life. Although suicides feature in both Stephen Daldry s film and Virginia Woolf s novel both texts echo Woolf s words from her 1922 diary: I meant to write about death, only life came breaking in as usual. Both Woolf s modernist 1925 novel and Daldry s 2002 postmodernist film focus on women whose rich inner lives are juxtaposed with their outer lives constrained by the contexts in which they live. The characters are placed in their respective context, to reflect on, or respond to, the consequences of war and AIDS, the difficulties of personal relationships, class, gender and sexuality. Mrs Dalloway seeks to narrate the inner life of characters in a single day, Wednesday, 13th June, 1923, while in The Hours, the action takes place within the span of a single day in three different years, 1923, 1951 and 2001. It communicates 3 parallel narratives with the focus on three different women, alternating between them throughout the film. In Mrs Dalloway, the chiming of both the grand Big Ben and the gentler St Margaret s symbolise the significance of time in life, despite a representation of time as mutable Big Ben, a warning...then the hour, irrevocable , reminding Clarissa of mortality, while St Margaret s chimes in a little late, gliding into the recesses of the heart and buries itself, to be, with a tremor of delight, at rest. Shakespeare has placed these contradictory identities so that the reader may be able to see the passionate love of Juliet by Romeo. Within the play, there are several examples of the contrast between characters. A famous illustration of this found is in Act I Scene III: It is an honor I dream not of (Juliet) An honor! Were not I thine only nurse, I would say thou hadst sucked wisdom from thy teat. (Nurse) Well, think of marriage now. Here in Verona, ladies of esteem are made already mothers. (Lady Capulet). The only thing keeping him fighting is that he has a chance to rise to the top and take revenge on the man who destroyed everything he loved, the new emperor Commodus. Maximus was an army general with good morals, a strong man who cared for others, a family man who would do anything for the ones he loved, but most of all, he had courage. He wasn t afraid to do what needed to be done when it was necessary. In the film, Maximus said something along the lines of I am required to kill when it is necessary, not for enjoyment. His internal compass spins correctly, unlike the antagonists. I would deem Commodus the antagonist of this film. Second, he sentences Maximus and his entire to family to death in a brutal, inhumane way. Commodus has some ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Heart Of Darkness By Joseph Conrad Essay One of the biggest fallacies one could make is believe with certainty that humankind is only one way (good or bad) without taking into account that ascertaining the precise percentage of how good and how bad humanity is almost inconceivable. The only thing one can infer is that every human and everything created by humans has two sides to it: the form and the substance. Joseph Conrad s novella Heart of Darkness shows precisely how dangerous it is to put our trust in a concept, for example: colonization, without realizing that most of the time one only gets to see the form and not the substance. In this essay, my purpose is to demonstrate that Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad is mainly a novella about the discrepancy between substance and form. In order to prove my point I will bring into discussion the matter of colonization and two of the characters: the General Manager and Kurtz. Firstly, in Heart of Darkness colonization is perceived from two different perspectives: the first perspective of the ones not involved directly, the second one of the ones who had an active role in the action. In regard to this, the form is represented by how colonization was considered by the outsider, namely the one who believed it to be an act of kindness and an attempt to bring light in the land of darkness. For instance, Marlow s aunt, who was the one who helped him fulfil his dream of going to Africa, maintained that her nephew was: like an emissary of light, something like a lower ... • 36. How Successful Was The New Deal Dbq Franklin Delano Roosevelt s New Deal wouldn t of even been made if it weren t for the Great Depression. The Great Depression started on October 24, 1929. Stock prices were plummeting rapidly by the minute. This all resulted in the stock market crashing leaving millions of American citizens unemployed (about 25%)(Source A). Banks, factories, mines, steels, and mills were all closing. Families were left homeless and starving on the street. 600 banks were closed and over 34 million had no source of income(Source C). Lots of homeless people were living in Hoovervilles, deprived towns made of cardboard, metal, and scraps(Source C). In 1933, when Franklin Roosevelt became president, his goal was to return the United State s stock market back to normal. His plan was the New Deal. The New Deal was successful because of how it fixed the unemployment problem and it solved the banking crisis. One of the main reasons FDR s New Deal was successful was because it fixed the unemployment in America. He did this by creating new jobs for people. During the Great Depression 25% of people were unemployed. That was about 13 million people(Source B). As a result of this, American families couldn t support themselves. 4 of President Roosevelt s solutions were the Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC), the WPA, the FERA, and the Social Security Act (Sources E,F,G). • 37. Persuasive Essay On Fast Food As time has passed, Americans have become downright lazy and inconsiderate when it comes to preparing their meals. They substitute fresh, nutritional, balanced meals for a big mac on their way to work. Since Americans have become so lazy, the emphasis is on quick service rather than the quality of the food. Open 24/7! It takes two hands to hold a whopper! There s fast food, then there s KFC! Your way, right away! As Americans continue to fill their bodies with fatty, processed, fake food, people around the world starve, and their access to clean drinking water is limited. So how is America to help? Now, when I state this, know it is not for my own gain. I am not starving, malnourished, nor am I grossly obese. This is simply a gain for the world, so that we may help those in need. In order for fast food chains to shut down, we would need to get rid of the obese people. How do we do this in a civil manner? Feed them to the malnourished. Now I know what you re thinking what is considered obese? Some people work out excessively, and a healthy 400 pound male that can lift that weight has a higher BMI because of the muscle. I mean to say the large ones, made entirely out of excess fat, the meat ready to slide off their bones the way it slides off of Colonel Sander s chicken. By feeding these overweight people to the malnourished, we not only will solve world hunger, but this will solve overpopulation. People over the BMI of 30 + will be put to death, and for a reasonable, redeeming cause. Those who are 18 will receive the meat of the generous donors. Those in the healthy range will continue to eat the way they do, while being monitored by a doctor, of course, so we can watch their eligibility for being overweight. Those who are overweight put on a watch list. The lower the BMI on the overweight side, the less you are to be harassed by the government. If you re teeter tottering on the obese line, you are put in a hospital, so that as soon as you can be put to slaughter, it s done. Not only will this solve world hunger and overpopulation, but America won t need volunteers to go over to these underdeveloped, third world countries, which will spare our time and supplies. • 38. False Memory In The Film Total Recall Is it possible to implant a memory into someone s mind? When it comes to memory being implanted to an individual mind I think that is the term false memories comes in. False memory is the variation between memory and imagination which becomes obscured, and events that never actually happened but become sewn into an individual memory as real events. This individual then believe that the memory is real and most can even describe these false memories vividly as if they really experience them. For example in the movie Total Recall , Arnold Schwarzenegger plays an inattentive construction worker in the year 2084 name Douglas. Douglas visits a company named Recall, which plants false memories into people s brains, in order for individual s to experience the thrill of Mars without having to travel there. In the movie Arnold believes that the memories of mars is real but later discover that his entire life is actually a false memory and that everything was that he thought was real was just implanted into his mind . ... • 39. Analysis Of A Streetcar Named Desire Practice Essay: Emilia Kelly The two texts of Enduring Love and A Streetcar named Desire show privilege of one way of perceiving the world over the other in their conclusions. Similarly, Tennessee Williams shows that realism in inevitable but is not always desirable in the play A Streetcar Names Desire. Both texts explore explore the responses of their protagonists of a crisis with Ian McEwan s post modern novel Enduring Love showing the destruction of Joe Rose s world following a hot air ballooning tragedy through his scientific perspective. While the southern gothic play of A Streetcar Named Desire explores the perception of Blanche following life s tragedies of the death of her husband. There are many similarities and differences within the text with Enduring Love s Joe and A Streetcar Named Desire s Stanley both representing the favoured perception of logic and reality, while characters such as Blanche and Jed expressing the less favourable perception of fantasy and delusion. Other characters of Clarissa and Stella, have their perception shaped by their emotional relationships that still result in unfavourable outcomes. In McEwan s conclusion of Enduring Love, Joe s perception of logic and science is presented to the reader as the privilege view in the novel. A team will not be effective without followers because they see where the leader wants to go and why, and then help find the best way to get there quickly, safely and effectively (Daft, pg. 195). When first reading and finding the logic in this statement it can have a person second guessing his or herself because you are taught from when you are a child not to be a follower. • 44. Alternate Theories On Women s Underrepresentation Alternate Theories on Women s Underrepresentation Initially it was thought that women were underrepresented in politics and elected office because they were underrepresented in the eligibility pool (Welch, 1978, 372). The idea was that women were socialized to believe that their duty was in the home raising children. As such, there were very few women in the eligibility pool, the typical jobs that have a tendency to lend themselves to a future in public office: law, business, and medicine among others (Welch, 1978, 373). This line of reasoning would suggest that all that has to be done to increase the proportion of women in public office is to increase their presence in such fields and disciplines (Fox, Lawless, and Feeley, 2001, 412). This explanation, however, falls short. The proportion of women in these careers has increased immensely and yet the disparity still persists (Fox and Lawless, 2011, 60). When considering potential factors that contribute to women s underrepresentation in elected office, another thought may be that perhaps voters just do not vote for women. Research shows that when women run they tend to win at the same rate as men and, furthermore, there is little evidence to suggest any kind of systemic bias against women at the polls (Lawless and Pearson, 2008, 67). However, additional research into the matter has qualified this claim. There is evidence that voters tend to view masculine characteristics being self confident, assertive, tough, and ... • 45. The Importance of Sustainability in a Company 1. Discuss in what way an improved sustainability performance can benefit a company. Even with the current trend pushed by consumers awareness related to increasing sustainability throughout companies processes and activities, at the end, they always rely on profit to pay its employees, suppliers and shareholders. If we think with a strictly economic point of view, the first impression about sustainability is not a positive one. A simple thought might consider all the money spent with ISO certifications, GRI reports, cleaner production, and health and safety as an obstacle towards the maximization of profits or, at best, as necessary money used to fulfill all the legal requirements. By this old way of thinking, neither employees nor shareholders would like to see money being used to support some educational or social initiative instead of being used to pay profit sharing or dividends. For very long time, this dominant thought, together with the lack of awareness about the environmental and social impacts caused by companies, led to decades of a debate corporations against society and environment . Even though this debate persists nowadays influenced by left wing thinkers, big part of society and the executives started to see this relation as a synergy instead of as a competition. Pushed by consumers and scientific discoveries, some leading companies started this shift and they realize that what was supposed to be a threat is, in fact, a sea of opportunities that would ... INTRODUCTION 1.1 Objectives It has been proved that ultrasound imaging is the main and primary device that is used as guidance for percutaneous medical procedures (Gray 2006). However, poor needle tip localization needs to be solved. Also, localize the needle tip in deep locations (`Cheung Rohling 2004) and slope insertion angles (Edgombe Hocking 2010). Enhancing the needle visibility will lead to decrease procedures failure. Finally, an ultrasound actuated needle device piezoelectric, and its components are presented in Section 2.10. 2.1 Background There are many clinical practices which involve skin percutaneous diagnosis and therapies. A thin tool such needle, catheter, tissue ablation probe etc, is inserted into a tissue to reach a target (Abolhassani et al., 2006). Take a biopsy from (breast, kidney, and liver), nerve block, drug delivery and blood sampling, are some applications of percutaneous needle procedures (Bishoff et al. 1998). The accuracy of needle insertion determines the efficiency of a percutaneous diagnosis or therapy (Youk et al., 2007). According to Abolhassani et al., (2006), the type of application or procedure determines the required accuracy of the procedures. For example, biopsy, anaesthesia, and brachytherapy, are required accuracy of millimetres while in other producers such as eye, brain, ear, and foetus are required much higher accuracy in nanometres. According to Kohn et al., (2000), the target could be in the millimetre neighbourhood of another organ, nerve or vessel. Hence, needle insertion producers ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With the introduction of New Religious Movements, pluralism, globalization and glocalization, interfaith initiatives it seems safe to say that religion will forever remain fluid and changing, as faiths adapt to culture, society, and the needs of their followers they will not die out. I believe that Mormonism and Rastafarians show this with great abundance. While both Rastafarians and Mormonism share a good amount of similar thoughts, they also cater to very separate demographics. I realize in writing that statement how counterintuitive it sounds, thus, first we will explore how Rastafi and Mormons are similar in their faiths. Both the Mormon and Rastafarian movements cater to very specific demographics. Mormonism caters to those who believe that the Christian Church lost it s way after the death of Christ, and restore what the Mormons consider true Christianity, as opposed to apostasy (abandonment of principles) which they feel characterizes the Christian churches. Douglas Engelbart transcended the limits of computing technology by aligning human minds with computing systems through his collaborative user interface scheme. In order to properly highlight Engelbart s accomplishments, some context is needed in which he developed his collaborative user interface scheme. In the late 1950s Engelbart joined Stanford Research Institute and there he proposed his vision in a research proposal titled Augmenting Human Intellect: A Conceptual Framework.
