No Child Left Behind Act Pros And Cons
The No Child Left Behind Act is a revision of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA)
of 1965, which provided federal aid to schools with large populations of low income students (Hudson
7). The original purpose of the No Child Left Behind Act was to close the achievement gap between
students and ensure all teachers and principals are highly qualified. The difference between ESEA and
the No Child Left Behind Act is the ESEA abstained from tying funding to achievement. The No
Child Left Behind Act has negatively affected the education of children in America by cutting the pay
of schools unable to meet proficiency standards, substituting standards and tests for quality education,
setting schools up for failure, and failing to recognize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ironically, the No Child Left Behind Act was meant to help poverty stricken children the most, but
despite the ideology that schools should be held accountable for unequal academic progress, children
who attend inner city schools with the highest poverty rates must still overcome the second rate
education they receive in overcrowded classrooms in school facilities that are badly in need of repair
(Hollingworth). The No child Left Behind Act fails to take into consideration the real world
application of socioeconomic differences in the United States. Students located in high poverty areas
are still responsible for attaining the same level of proficiency the NCLB requires despite the
differences the children experience. Even though there are students that have a cognitive disability,
speak entry level English, or have speech delays, everyone takes the same test and the results are
posted, (Hobart) which has the potential to lower the school s overall scores. The No Child Left
Behind Act requires all students, no matter the differences, to take the same test and achieve the same
results. All students are not the same and differ in their ability to perform equally as others on the
same test. Students with mental disabilities or students in which English is not their first language are
expected to achieve the same scores as general education

Water In Ancient Civilisations
Introduction: 150 words Throughout history, the need to control and utilise water stands at the core of
many ancient civilisations. In particular, water sustained life and growth, not only for people, but
plants, crops and animals all required water for survival. However natural sources of water including,
the ocean and rivers were fundamental in the evolution of transportation. The evolution of transport
across time is largely based on the innovation of technology. Advances towards transportation have
long been considered to allow further travel, exploration of new territory and expanding influence
across vaster regions. Such as those in ancient times, inventions such as foot coverings, snowshoes
and skis all lengthened the distances possible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The roads were not ready for the increasing demand on the heavy and bulk goods needed or
manufactured by the newly emerging industries around this time. (canals and waterways, ware) As the
current paths simply could not handle such weights and the vehicles needed to move this produce did
not exist, canals were the answer to moving heavy objects large distances. Several interactions are
seen within the transportation industry, much to the fact of using shared technology to provide a
different outcome. In this case, during the early stages of the industrial revolution, mules were the
power behind transportation on land. The average mule was capable of towing around five eighths of a
tonne (625kg) worth of goods. However, due to the evolution of canals and waterways the same mule
could carry up to 30 tonnes (30,000kg) which increases efficiency 48 times more than the previous
transportation on land. () Looking at transport as a whole, the origins began on land, then to sea and
eventually air. Each mode of transport carry similar advantages yet provide unique assistance in terms
of technological issues. For example, water transportation would prove to be an unlikely mode of
transport when delivering time critical goods, whereas air transport would be fitting of the

Grand Cayman Blue Iguana Essay
Introduction: Endangered species is a species which is classified of IUCN (International Union for
Conservation of Nature) to become extinct or in red list species. We can find a lot of endangered
species today; it is because their populations were destroyed by human being from many different
aspects. For examples, illegal logging in the forest destroyed their habitat, farming, and housing of
human. Grand Cayman blue iguana (Cyclura Lewis) is one of the species that people concern about it.
The results of IUCN show that, the population of the Cayman blue iguana has increase from near
extinct to endanger. In this report, I will write about the location and habitat, population and status, the
reason they are threatened, and the conservation.

Compensation System Of Henderson Printing Company
Compensation system in Henderson printing company
Introduction
One of the important aspects of business management is having a proper compensation system.
Compensation ensures that the staff of the company obtains the results of their efforts. Compensation
is a cost to the enterprise and, therefore, a proper remuneration model must demonstrate its ability to
produce returns. Also, since compensation is what the employees get in exchange for their services,
the type used must be one that will motivate the employees (Belcourt McBey, 2015). Henderson
printing company is a mid level company. Therefore, it requires a very critical remuneration system
that will help it to survive. This memo explores the compensation models that Henderson printing
operates as well as suggests the necessary changes.
Compensation systems that Henderson printing run
Henderson printing is a mid level company. The company operates some compensation models for its
personnel. Through these models, the employees receive rewards for the labour they render to the
enterprise. Henderson printing pays its employees by giving them regular salaries for their services.
These are direct payments for the work they do in this company. Secondly, the employees are given
pay raises even though this depends on the employee s initiative to ask for a pay rise from the owner
(Davis, 2013). Lastly, the employees are also accorded some merit bonuses every Christmas time. The
merit bonuses are based on their contribution to

Avoid Sequences
A. How I Use First, Use as Needed, or Avoid Sequence I use Sequence AS NEEDED. I like the idea
of a schedule but it s hard for me to stick to it. I rarely double check things but I am always taking
steps toward improving. I need enough time to perform and I hate to rush. This gives me a chance to
perform trial and error before arriving at my conclusion. I skim through pages and search for main
ideas and I can t take too much information in one sitting. In school, for example, I ll write a paper
seven or eight times before turning it in making sure all my words were in my desired order and I
made use of the best possible diction. My tendencies to do this most times cause frustration and

I love to learn things by physically testing, building or using my hands alongside my mind. A great
example demonstrating this pattern would be when I took apart one of the lamps that my boyfriend
and I had in the living room. It wasn t broken and had been a fully functioning lamp until I decided to
take it apart to get to the part where the knob is at the top. I had wanted to use a specific lampshade
but couldn t because the center of it wasn t in compliance with the current lamp. My brain told me to
just switch lamp knobs, thus allowing me to put my new lampshade to use. If you don t already know
not to take apart a lamp, let me warn you, it is not worth it. My lamp needed to be disassembled from
the BOTTOM UP. My point is, I now know every single part of that lamp and how it was put together.
I never di get the new lampshade on nor was I able to reassemble that lamp. I remind you of my
previous reflection on Confluence, and how part of that was being able to make mistakes and take

Four short bursts (around 5 seconds per burst) were applied to complete the homogenization process
with a ten second pause between each pulse. The homogenized tissue solution was then poured into
three 50 mL centrifuge tubes, and was centrifuged at 15000 RPM for 20 minutes. The supernatant
poured through two layers of cheese cloth into a 50 mL falcon tube, and the volume was recorded.
Three 0.5 mL aliquots were saved.
Ammonium Sulfate Precipitation After centrifugation, the volume of each CFE was measured, and

Essay on Gathering the Facts at the Crime Scene
The excitement of watching a beautiful well dressed medical examiner or forensic examiner in stiletto
heels hovering over a homicide victim is quite thrilling for television. However, in the reality solving
homicides is not as one would see on their favorite police show. As mention previous, the intrigue
with police shows on television make it difficult to found a jury that have not seen those type show.
Therefore, the court system has a problem obtaining a guilty verdict because jurors wrongfully acquit
guilty defendants when no scientific evidence has been presented, as they have seen on television. As
Donald Shelton states in the CSI Effect: Does It Exist this so called effect was promptly dubbed the
CSI effect, laying much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This task can be accomplished through forensic evidence collection. Once the evidence has been
collected, it must be preserved by maintaining chain of custody to prevent evidence tainting. The
evidence will be preserved until it ready for presentation at the homicide trial. This paper will examine
the major sources of evidence that is required in a homicide investigation that will assist the
prosecution in obtaining a conviction in a homicide case. The Evident Blood splatter A crime scene is
a unique merging of science and the law. Crime scene investigation is a process that includes
documentation of the conditions at the scene and the collection of any physical evidence that coul¬d
give reference to what happened. There is no typical crime scene, and the evidence found there will
vary. (Layton, 2005) When there is a homicide at a crime scene, the forensic investigator will look for
evidence to provide an indication of what actually happen. Did the person kill their self? Did the
victim suffer at the hands of a criminal? The crime scene investigator will look at blood platter
evidence as source to gain knowledge into these question. Blood splatter evidence give investigator a
scientific assessment into criminal investigation. When blood splatter or drip from the human body, its
is impacted by gravity and velocity. Therefore, it imperative to

Age-Distributed Stages Of Art Development
Anyone who spends time with children knows they draw all the time. On paper, on tables, on
themselves; children constantly explore their world through mark making and scribbling. Children can
use art to help them develop other cognitive skills such as writing or anger management; and although
every child progresses differently, this paper discusses the possibility of universal, age correlated
stages of art development.
Perhaps the most notable analysis in the stages of development comes from the work of Marcia
Baghban (2007) who studied the link between drawing and writing in early childhood. Baghban
hypothesized that children use writing and drawing as a tool for thinking, organizing ideas, and
understanding experiences. In addition, she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Robyn Holmes conducted a study in order to discover if children s artwork could reveal their
knowledge of nonverbal communication and social distance (Holmes, 1992, p. 157). The researchers
asked 32 middle class children (half were 5 years old, half were 11) to draw two separate pictures: one
with themselves and a stranger, one of themselves and a friend. The researchers hypothesized that
children would draw strangers further away from themselves than friends, and that older children
would draw the stranger farther apart than young children. The researchers measured distance between
the figures in centimeters from the eye line of one face to the eyeline of the other face. The results
indicated that younger children drew strangers farther apart than older children and that while younger
girls and boys drew strangers the same distance apart, girls drew themselves closer to their friends
(Holmes, 1992, p. 160). However, contrary to the hypothesis, older children drew themselves closer to
a stranger than younger children. Perhaps because parents and teachers continually warn young
children about stranger danger. The study concluded that children realize that strangers should stand
further apart than friends, and that factors of familiarity and age affect the children s expression of
nonverbal communication, supporting the hypothesis

Critique of the Government Shutdown Essay
On October 1 the U.S. Government shutdown, that s right the only thing keeping us from complete
and total anarchy shutdown for 16 days. So why are we treating it like this is some common media
trash. Our Government may be acting like a bunch of kids when it comes to the debt crisis but having
to shut down over a disagreement seems like a bit of a drastic measure. The shutdown caused many
programs to shutdown, though many more where still able to function. If the shutdown had lasted
longer there would have been an even bigger issue. Something this big isn t a joke this could have
turned out significantly worse and people need to understand this. This debt problem that had a large
impact on this shutdown didn t just pop out of nowhere. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But unfortunately many national parks and memorials had to be shut down because without funding
there was no way to cover the costs to stay open. This caused problems with many veterans who
wished to enter the war memorials. This even led to a riot and a break in at a World War 2 Memorial.
Many federal workers were furloughed which basically means that they were let off temporarily till
the government started back up. So large sums of workers were given a vacation, but if the
government had been shut down longer, this could have become a very pressing issue. After the
shutdown some research was done to see just which states where hit the hardest. According to NBC
Washington Virginia was the state that had the hardest impact from the shutdown. Many of Virginias
mortgage loans, on real estate, where backed up with federal funds causing many houses to foreclose.
Virginia was also pushed to the top of the list by being the second largest state that houses the most
veterans. All of this shows that the people in Virginia where impacted the worst from the shutdown.
The biggest problem that still seems to be a very significant issue that the politicians like to toy with is
the damn debt ceiling. Instead of treating the debt ceiling for what it is, a limit that should never be
exceeded, our politicians decide to raise it whenever the debt gets closer. China isn t impressed. This
is an issue that will only spark further shutdowns and should be our highest priority.

What Are The Similarities Between Nibelungenlied And Parzival
Nibelungenlied and Parzival
Although both the Nibelungenlied and Parzival were composed around the same time (c. 1200), they
are vastly different in certain respects namely concerning the matters of diplomacy, redemption,
revenge, and deceit. Some striking similarities do exist among the two texts concepts of honor (êre),
loyalty (triuwe), moderation (mâze) and knightly deeds (âventiure) are valued highly by both
societies. However, each notion is accomplished through different measures in each work. In fact,
societal values are taken more to the extreme in Nibelungenlied, and deceit is often used to obtain
them.
For example, honor manifests itself similarly in each work, but is acted on to a different extent. In
both ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this reason, Parzival is a much more Christian composition.
More specifically, consider first the incidents surrounding Siegfried s death, which stem from a loss of
honor, but point out other important societal values in the Nibelungenlied. Gunther falsely claims,
with Siegfried s approval, that Siegfried is his vassal in order to impress Brunhilde. Siegfried then
helps Gunther with the cloak of invisibility to complete tasks of strength, which eventually win
Brunhilde. These are deceptions number one and two, and are especially heinous since they occur
during a wooing expedition. The third deception of Brunhilde comes about when Siegfried subdues
her so that she will sleep with Gunther in the future. The concept of loyalty to one s spouse and to
womankind in the world of Parzival forbids any dishonesty in courting endeavors, or any deceit to one
s wife. Moreover, nobody openly lies about rank, or social status, because it is far too important of a
concept. Gawan is perhaps the only character in Parzival who is not entirely honest about his heritage,
when he overcomes the Castle of Wonders and frees his relatives. However, his intentions are good he
simply wants to reunite King Arthur to his relatives in a sort of surprise manner, and for that reason
any wrong he causes through his silence is almost immediately ameliorated.
Finally, the laws governing âventiure do not allow anyone who uses tricks to win a

Trials of Oz
The Trials of Oz
Court as Theatre
In the first case, Robertson is not principally involved as counsel for the Oz editors in their obscenity
trial. He is just a stage hand for the defence . We note the metaphor: a stage hand is someone who
assists at a theatrical production. Robertson frequently recurs to the idea of the court as a theatre and
the players in the justice game as actors:
Like the squalor behind the splendour of the stage at Convent Garden [the great
London opera house], so the solemn ritual of an Old Bailey trial disguised the fact that it was
produced in greasepaint and chaos. The solicitors clerks who stage managed the shows would meet to
rehearse the cast of the day around the formica tables of the Rex Café ... Show more content on

That the judge is unaware that Hair is a musical is supposed to suggest how out of touch he is with
reality.
The cumulative effect of this perspective is that if the judge is hard on the allegedly obscene editors
and misrepresents their defence to the jurors, this would only be what you would expect of such a
second rate individual. Robertson s presentation, based on truth, is heavily influenced by bias and
opinion against the judge and, thereby, in favour of the defendants. The eventual verdict of guilty is
seen to be inevitable. The editors were sent to prison for psychiatric examination.
Reason and Sanity
The voices of reason and sanity , writes Robertson, were outraged and an appeal lodged. First, bail
was granted by Justice Griffiths, whose decision was made on the advice of his daughter, a young
blonde in a denim jacket and jeans . The appeal before the Lord Chief Justice succeeded after he was
persuaded that Oz paled in comparison, in terms of obscenity, with numerous other publications freely
available.
Although Oz died from an overdose of publicity , Robertson makes the telling point that the usual
ironic effect of obscenity trials is to heighten public interest in the book or artwork examined.
The principal representation of truth in The Trials of Oz is Robertson s detailed presentation of the
initial courtroom battle, including lengthy

Lab We Use A Metal Compass Essay
In lab we used a metal compass to measure and to find our two point threshold acuity. When Dario
was measuring my two point sensitivity, I was blindfolded and had to judge whether or not I felt one
point or two points. We tested these on multiple locations being, the pad of my index finger, pinky and
thumb. We also measured our two point sensitivity on the center of my palm, back of my hand and the
top and bottom of my forearm. We took these measurements by starting the metal compass at 1mm for
each location. The experimenter would incrementally increase the metal compass after each trial until
the participant said they felt two points. The experimenter would then verify that measurement and
would repeat the measurement once again for accuracy. My results for my two point threshold
sensitivity can be found on the table above. However, we found that the pads of my fingertips had the
greatest number of receptive field. This didn t surprise me because it makes sense to have a greater
number of receptive fields in areas that are most predominantly used for touch. Something that did
surprise me though was how few of receptive fields I had on my palm, back of my hand and on the top
and bottom of my forearms. It makes sense that I d have fewer receptive fields in this area because I
don t use this for touch usually but how few of receptive fields I had in these areas really surprised me.

An Analysis of the Relationship between Myself and the...
When this writing assignment was given to me, I sat and pondered about the three poems by T.S.
Elliot, Preludes Journey of the Magi and The Hollow Men and I wondered about which poem I
connected easiest with. I observed the poem, Preludes when I read the lines, And newspapers from
vacant lots...at the corner of the street...a lonely cab horse steams and stamps (Elliot, Preludes, page
1156 lines 8 11) in which I realized they were in a bustling city. I thought to myself, since living in a
small town all my life, that in the end I would not be able to easily connect with this piece of poetry.
Then in flipping a couple of pages and finding the poem, The Hollow Men and after reading this poem
and have Mr. McGee exegeses this piece of poetry to our class, I found to be a very empty and
depressing pessimistic poem . Which most of my life, I have had the privilege to look on the positive
side of things and live a very joy filled life; which left me with the last poem, Journey of the Magi .
After reading this poem, out of the three, this was the poem I had the strongest connection to and

Downfall of Education System was No School Prayer
Since prayer was removed from public school classrooms in 1962, we have had a 6 fold increase in
violent crime, our divorce rate has tripled, births to single mothers have increased 5 fold, the teenage
suicide rate has tripled, and SAT scores have dropped 10%.(Creation Today). Reasons that represent
why prayer and moments of silence should be allowed in the public school system will be expressed.
This essay will represent the affirmative stance when regarding this topic of school wide prayer and
moments of silence. It is not coincidental that there has been an increase in births to single mothers,
divorce rates tripling, and teenage suicide increasing. Allowing prayer in schools has set valuable
standards and morals for graduates and current pupils. Currently ninety percent of the countries kids
are enrolled in the public school system being influenced every single day they are present. Proven by
previously mentioned statistics, the majority of morals clearly dropped after the removal of prayer in
public schools in 1962. Without prayer, people have become more and more obliterate to God based
values, this causes people to neglect crucial things such as the sacredness of marriage. After 1963
divorces increased by 300% each following year (Prayer in America) Many argue and take to the
opposition that marriage is just a piece of paper, when in all generality, it is a gift from God. Single

The Fifth Amendment And The Rights During Arrest, Trial,...
No matter what the crime is, the Constitution is supposed to help protect the accused s rights during
arrest, trial, and sentencing. The Sixth Amendment clearly states that In all criminal prosecutions, the
accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district
wherein the crime shall have been committed... and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense .
If the accused is found to be guilty, the Eighth Amendment is there to protect us from the possibility of
cruel and unusual punishment. This is something as an American we all expect and we all assume is
what happens, but what if you re a minority, or have a mental impairment and you re facing the death
penalty, can you expect the same rights? Recent studies have shown that while the use of the death
penalty have gone down over the years since it was reinstated in 1976, there is still a staggering
number of statics showing inequality in the application of its use. A law professor from the University
of Iowa, David C. Baldus and two colleagues published a study not long after the reinstatement of the
death penalty in 1976 (Dow, 2011). In this study it looked at over 2,000 homicide cases just within
Georgia alone beginning in 1972, what they found was startling (Dow, 2011). Baldus found that black

A school administrator is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students and staff by

Melania Trump and Donald Trump were guests at a state dinner in Beijing that was hosted by China s
President Xi Jinping and First Lady Peng Liyuan. The Trumps are winding down their 12 day tour of a
mix of countries across Asia. As usual, all eyes were on Mrs. Trump s wardrobe choice. She displayed
some gems alongside her husband, but not everyone is applauding the first lady s attire; some have
even called it inappropriate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, multiple sites, including Vanity Fair, said her dress of choice for the state dinner was Gucci
designed by the director, Alessandro Michele. The black Chinese inspired maxi featured an elaborate
scheme replete with flowers. The first lady complemented her look by draping her hair loosely beyond
her shoulders.

Mrs. Trump made a fashion statement by trimming the lower arms with pink fur. This appears to be
the dividing line between fashion critics and proponents. One the one hand, AOL remarked that
Melania Trump s dress was flawless. Moreover, the site celebrated Melania s sartorial elegance as she
and the president represented the United States during their meetings with overseas partners.
On the other hand, the Express was underwhelmed by Melania Trump s fashion sense at the Chinese
state dinner. The site chided the former model for her bizarre decision to accentuate the traditional
dress with prominent pink fur.

Rhetorical Analysis Of 1800 Tequila
Essay 1 Rhetorical Analysis
A 1800 Tequila television advertisement from June 1, 2014 titled, Perfect Match , demonstrates a
handsome caucasian man walking into a boxing match after the main audience has taken their seats.
After sitting in a front row seat, a waitress with a bottle that says 1800 serves him a glass of tequila.
He stands for a few seconds while holding his drink in his hand, while he and a attractive female
create an instant attraction towards one another. The boxing match is completely ignored while the
two gaze upon one another. He sits down, still having a complete sense of awareness of the female.
She beams at him and rubs her legs with her hands slowly as if to show him. Raising his glass as if to
cheer, the glass of tequila is fully visible to her specifically. With the boxing match in the camera
angle, the female promptly vanishes. The man is in disarray and wonders where she has gone, but
swiftly she appears to be sitting right next to him. In one hand she has the same glass of tequila the
man has. The two raise their glass to toast as he stares into her eyes. The camera then focuses on the

The man walks into the boxing venue nicely dressed in a suite, but most noticeably after the audience
has already taken their seat. This is a powerful statement to logos. 1800 Tequila suddenly redirects the
main attention away from the boxing match towards the man s arrival making him look important. A
handsome caucasian male who is well dressed is not only a desired figure, but a symbol as well. In
this case he is a symbol of success. The ethos appeal is successfully exercised in this advertisement
because the male seems to be well put together. In other words he is a quintessential figure of this
specific society. By using a handsome male, the audience is led to believe that successful people

An Internship Is A Professional Program
Introduction In the recent years employers are more interested in hiring new workers with a handful of
experience in their field rather than their qualifications. An internship is a professional program that
provides practical experiences to students in which they learn and can reflect back on for their future
careers. Internships are increasingly becoming more evident in the work force as it helps give
employers an opportunity to find good quality employees and in return provides good experience for
the intern. Participating in internships, no matter paid or unpaid, is believed to strengthen the
probability of acquiring a top notch career in the competitive market. However, the difference between
paid and unpaid interns can dramatically change that window of opportunity for those seeking to
engage in it. As unemployment rates continue to rise, the competition for internship increases. A large
part of the demand market includes newly graduated students who just finished a high educational
degree in hopes to outshine their peers who are pursuing the same job. A significant amount of these
young people are willingly taking on unpaid internships with the risk of them being unable to sustain
their financial need. This ultimately hinders them from climbing up the social ladder (DiMaria, 2013).
In addition to this problem, although there are a few unpaid internships out there that unprejudiced and
moral, some employers who see unpaid internship as an opening for free labor with

The inclusion of lithium in Reynolds X100 makes sure to block any dislocations within the alloys
crystal structure, giving it an outstanding fatigue resistance.
Reynolds X100 as stated in paragraph one two has a lack of strength compared to steel. The best way
to deal with this is to increase the tubular diameter making it ovular that makes up the bike frame,
hence also making sure that it is very resistant to bending. Though these enlarged and irregular
sections are difficult to design and employ, the added stiffness to the frame is extensive. Unlike steel,
we see that X100 (due to aluminium) has tremendous shock absorption, making the ride of a Reynolds
X100 frame much more comfortable.
X100 is a seemingly average alloy, when it comes to joining it follows this path. To join aluminium it
is naturally difficult to welded, and more complicated difficult processes must be used (inert gases are
required to join members (MIG)).
Conclusively Reynolds X100 is more expensive than steel, due to its large percentage of aluminium,
yet still not greatly expensive. In an ethical sense, the production of these bikes will not be wasteful,
as aluminium is recyclable. It has great weight, very resistant to forms of decay and resistance to
fatigue. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to repair, as the joining methods take large amounts of time
and are very costly.

The Search For Prosperity In Mac s In Dubious Battle
In today s world, it seems everyone is fueled to work only towards the dream of wealth. Without the
promise of payment, people will turn their back on their neighbor without a second thought and
continue on the search for prosperity. In the novel In Dubious Battle, we meet Mac, a hard working
party member doing everything in his power to help struggling laborers make the wage they were
promised before setting out for the California apple orchards. Almost immediately after the strike
begins, Mac comes to the realization that there likely is no chance of the workers winning the strike,
yet he continues to fight for his beliefs. Some may interpret this as selfish for risking the lives of these
workers, however this is undoubtedly false as Mac risks his own life alongside the other strikers. Mac
also has no financial reward for helping with the strike and is spending his time educating the workers
a valuable lesson on how to strike that will help them in the larger strike that Mac sees ominously
approaching. From the moment Mac arrives on the apple orchard, we see that he is not afraid to risk
his own life for the sake of the party. In a conversation with Jim, Mac reveals how the party is larger
than any single member, no matter how important that member may be. Mac goes on to express that
he is willing to give up his own life in the wake of a larger, nation wide strike he foresees coming very
soon. Mac expresses this idea to Jim, saying if I go out now it won t matter. The

Who Is Harley Quinn In The Suicide Squad
The Suicide Squad is a film that was first released in 2016 and directed by Zack Snyder. The movie
revolves on the accomplishment of a government s high risk mission. On the other hand, the mission
is not accomplished by the respected men or women in uniform but incarcerated villains who are
promised commuted sentences for the successful completion of the mission. The movie is particularly
interesting because it involves a group of dangerous characters to accomplish a useful mission. Harley
Quinn is the protagonist of the movie. Quinn is a genius who graduated from college and pursued

Quinn is portrayed as a character that pursues her desires ad works harder to achieve her ambitions.

Samuel Beckett¨s Novel Molloy and Its Particular Style,...
There s no question Samuel Beckett was deeply influenced by the avant garde style of fellow Irish
novelist James Joyce when writing Molloy. Both Beckett and Joyce allude to the classics (Dante s
Purgatorio and Homer s Odyssey, respectively) and both extensively employ interior monologue to
often similar effect. Even so, Beckett, ever aware of the shadow cast by his former mentor, also
attempted to eschew Joycean tendencies in his works, as demonstrated in Molloy. Here, not only does
Beckett entirely deny readers the luxury of context, he deconstructs the very fundamentals of novel
and narrative. Distinctly metafictional in form, Molloy self consciously underlines its own artificiality
and, on a universal level, that intrinsic to fiction itself. Like the titular allusion of Joyce s Ulysses, the
two protagonists in Molloy also embark on a voyage of sorts, albeit the nature of which is even more
so internalized. As a result, there s not much by way of plot or setting, which remain intentionally
hazy. Still, the novel moves, sometimes at a dizzying pace, in part to its frequent digressions and
elision of so many vital answers: Are Molloy and Moran the same character? Is it possible Molloy
may not even be a person altogether but rather an alter ego of Moran? Is Molloy a state of mind? What
exactly does it mean to be searching for Molloy ? These questions stem from the novel s vague
definition of physical space and time, leading some readers to interpret the novel s second

The Chrysanthemums By John Steinbeck Analysis
Biography John Ernst Steinbeck was born in Salinas, California, which is where the short story, The
Chrysanthemums is set in 1902. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature and his held in high regard, but
not quite as high as Faulkner and Hemingway. Steinbeck died of a heart attack in Salinas, California in
1963 (Levant). Overview Steinbeck published the short story The Chrysanthemums in 1937 and
included as part of his collection The Long Valley the following year. In the story, Henry Allen and his
wife own a ranch. Elisa, Henry s wife, is working with her chrysanthemums. He suggests they go to

whether she has any work for him, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She reveals her hair for the first time in the story. When the tinker leaves, she goes through an entire
transformation. She takes her clothes off, takes a bath, examines her nude skin, and then redresses
herself. Elisa puts on beautifully feminine underwear, clothes, and makeup. This look draws a stark
contrast with her bulky gardening clothes. She is now revealed as a sexualized woman instead of a
simple tomboy. At the end of the story, she pulls up her coat collar to cover her tears, implying a return
to her repressed state in which she has lived most of her life. The chrysanthemums symbolize both
Elisa and the limited scope of her life. Like Elisa, the chrysanthemums are lovely, strong, and thriving.
Their flowerbed, like Elisa s house, is tidy and scrupulously ordered. Elisa explicitly identifies herself
with the flowers, even saying that she becomes one with the plants when she tends to them. When the
tinker notices the chrysanthemums, Elisa visibly brightens, just as if he had noticed her instead. She
offers the chrysanthemums to him at the same time she offers herself, both of which he ignores and
tosses aside. His rejection of the flowers also mimics the way society has rejected women as nothing
more than mothers and housekeepers. Just like her, the flowers are unobjectionable and also
unimportant: both are merely decorative and add little value to the world.

The Superpowers And Causes Of The Cold War
Introduction
The Cold War was an era where two superpowers fought for dominance. For many years, the US and
USSR have been the leading powers in the whole world. However, the United States was trying to
gain followers of their democratic ideal, whereas the USSR promoted communism. Through some
attempts of reaching a common ground, both superpowers caused a split between the East and the
West until 1991. The main reasons lie in the events of years 1945 1947.
Yalta Conference
First of all, the Cold War s origins go back to the events of 1945 when two important conferences have
occurred: Yalta and Potsdam. A mutual lack of trust has been present between countries US and USSR

Themes In The Fall Of The House Of Usher
An expert in grotesque and arabesque writing, Edgar Allan Poe is known for his great contributions to
the Gothic style of writing literature. Poe has a very unique and dark way of writing. His mysterious
style of writing appeals to many readers because of it is unlike many other writers. Many of his stories
tend to have the same recurring theme of either death or lost love. In The Fall of the House of Usher ,
however, we see both death and lost love as the major theme. In this short story, Roderick faces mental
illness and the loss of his precious sister, Lady Madeline. In The Fall of the House of Usher , Poe
includes other narratives and poems within the story. One of the poems he includes is The Haunted
Palace. The Haunted Palace begins with very positive vibes using the phrases happy valley and gentle
air in order to paint a picture of a beautiful haven. However, in the 5th stanza, the mood drastically
changes. Evil spirits appear and invade the haven. Phrases like ghastly river and robes of sorrow now
stain the purity of the previously established beauty of the supposed radiant palace . This poem has a
great significance in accordance with The Fall of the House of Usher specifically its correlation in
themes. The transition of good to evil in The Haunted Palace is very similar to the narrator s views
towards the House of Usher. In the beginning of The Fall of the House of Usher , the narrator
approaches the House of Usher and is disgusted with the

Taming Of The Shrew Vs 10 Things I Hate About You Essay
An imperative part of recreating any work of Shakespeare is assuring the characters are comparable to
his original creations. If the characters are not flawlessly portrayed through those recreations, those
who take part in revitalizing have not done their due diligence to Shakespeare s timeless masterpieces.
The characters in 10 Things I Hate About You were carefully constructed to accurately represent
Shakespeare s play, The Taming of the Shrew, in modern day time while preserving Shakespeare s
initial version. The main character in Taming of the Shrew, Katherine, is referred to as Kat in the
blockbuster film, 10 Things I Hate About You in order to modernize the adaptation. Both Katherine
and Kat are outspoken, bold young women who are avoided by those who have surrounded them.

The late 1990 s film was inspired by the 1590 s play, but was also a work of it s own which created
some differences throughout the plots. An important difference of the two plots is Katherine/Kat s
surroundings. Katherine is a bit older than Kat, whereas she is a young woman most likely finished
with school while Kat is in high school. Although this is not a huge difference, this creates unique
settings to both plots. Katherine is frowned upon by all of society and is referred to as the shrew by
her peers. She is never left alone and if quite often ridiculed and hated for how bold she is. Kat
however, is left alone by her peers in high school even though no one likes her either. It is clearly

The Invasion Of The Vietnam War
Firstly, the invasion of the Vietnam War cannot be justified when the US s ally in the war is a corrupt
democracy. When the Vietnam War began the United States puppet state was Ngo Dinh Diem s South
Vietnam. Diem was a dictator or the President supposedly of South Vietnam that took power for
himself there, and threw all of his civil and political opponents into violent concentration camps. The
South Vietnamese President had also oppressed those of different religions specifically Buddhism (
NGO DINH DIEM, FIRST PRESIDENT OF SOUTH VIETNAM. ). Eventually, the Viet Cong who
would rather support a communist regime formed due to the oppressive nature of Diem s ruthless
democracy. By the time North Vietnam sought to unify the country Diem had opposition from all
perspectives, including his most trusted peers. Even with his mockery of a democracy, the United
States believed it had to support his efforts in the defense of democracy in South Vietnam. The United
States did want a change of power, but were willing to continue with Diem if deemed necessary to
win. Benjamin Frankel states this by stating advised the State Department that the United States
should begin to search for an alternative to Diem. On 1 November 1963 South Vietnamese military
officers overthrew Diem, and he and his brother were shot to death ( Vietnam War: Was U.S. Military

  • 2. No Child Left Behind Act Pros And Cons The No Child Left Behind Act is a revision of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965, which provided federal aid to schools with large populations of low income students (Hudson 7). The original purpose of the No Child Left Behind Act was to close the achievement gap between students and ensure all teachers and principals are highly qualified. The difference between ESEA and the No Child Left Behind Act is the ESEA abstained from tying funding to achievement. The No Child Left Behind Act has negatively affected the education of children in America by cutting the pay of schools unable to meet proficiency standards, substituting standards and tests for quality education, setting schools up for failure, and failing to recognize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ironically, the No Child Left Behind Act was meant to help poverty stricken children the most, but despite the ideology that schools should be held accountable for unequal academic progress, children who attend inner city schools with the highest poverty rates must still overcome the second rate education they receive in overcrowded classrooms in school facilities that are badly in need of repair (Hollingworth). The No child Left Behind Act fails to take into consideration the real world application of socioeconomic differences in the United States. Students located in high poverty areas are still responsible for attaining the same level of proficiency the NCLB requires despite the differences the children experience. Even though there are students that have a cognitive disability, speak entry level English, or have speech delays, everyone takes the same test and the results are posted, (Hobart) which has the potential to lower the school s overall scores. The No Child Left Behind Act requires all students, no matter the differences, to take the same test and achieve the same results. All students are not the same and differ in their ability to perform equally as others on the same test. Students with mental disabilities or students in which English is not their first language are expected to achieve the same scores as general education ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In particular, water sustained life and growth, not only for people, but plants, crops and animals all required water for survival. However natural sources of water including, the ocean and rivers were fundamental in the evolution of transportation. The evolution of transport across time is largely based on the innovation of technology. The roads were not ready for the increasing demand on the heavy and bulk goods needed or manufactured by the newly emerging industries around this time. (canals and waterways, ware) As the current paths simply could not handle such weights and the vehicles needed to move this produce did not exist, canals were the answer to moving heavy objects large distances. Several interactions are seen within the transportation industry, much to the fact of using shared technology to provide a different outcome. In this case, during the early stages of the industrial revolution, mules were the power behind transportation on land. The average mule was capable of towing around five eighths of a tonne (625kg) worth of goods. However, due to the evolution of canals and waterways the same mule could carry up to 30 tonnes (30,000kg) which increases efficiency 48 times more than the previous transportation on land. () Looking at transport as a whole, the origins began on land, then to sea and eventually air. Each mode of transport carry similar advantages yet provide unique assistance in terms of technological issues. For example, water transportation would prove to be an unlikely mode of transport when delivering time critical goods, whereas air transport would be fitting of the ... It wasn t broken and had been a fully functioning lamp until I decided to take it apart to get to the part where the knob is at the top. I had wanted to use a specific lampshade but couldn t because the center of it wasn t in compliance with the current lamp. My brain told me to just switch lamp knobs, thus allowing me to put my new lampshade to use. If you don t already know not to take apart a lamp, let me warn you, it is not worth it. My lamp needed to be disassembled from the BOTTOM UP. My point is, I now know every single part of that lamp and how it was put together. I never di get the new lampshade on nor was I able to reassemble that lamp. I remind you of my previous reflection on Confluence, and how part of that was being able to make mistakes and take risks, even if sometimes the results are not as productive as they could have ... Essay on Gathering the Facts at the Crime Scene The excitement of watching a beautiful well dressed medical examiner or forensic examiner in stiletto heels hovering over a homicide victim is quite thrilling for television. However, in the reality solving homicides is not as one would see on their favorite police show. As mention previous, the intrigue with police shows on television make it difficult to found a jury that have not seen those type show. • 11. Age-Distributed Stages Of Art Development Anyone who spends time with children knows they draw all the time. On paper, on tables, on themselves; children constantly explore their world through mark making and scribbling. Children can use art to help them develop other cognitive skills such as writing or anger management; and although every child progresses differently, this paper discusses the possibility of universal, age correlated stages of art development. Perhaps the most notable analysis in the stages of development comes from the work of Marcia Baghban (2007) who studied the link between drawing and writing in early childhood. Baghban hypothesized that children use writing and drawing as a tool for thinking, organizing ideas, and understanding experiences. In addition, she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Robyn Holmes conducted a study in order to discover if children s artwork could reveal their knowledge of nonverbal communication and social distance (Holmes, 1992, p. 157). The researchers asked 32 middle class children (half were 5 years old, half were 11) to draw two separate pictures: one with themselves and a stranger, one of themselves and a friend. The researchers hypothesized that children would draw strangers further away from themselves than friends, and that older children would draw the stranger farther apart than young children. The researchers measured distance between the figures in centimeters from the eye line of one face to the eyeline of the other face. The results indicated that younger children drew strangers farther apart than older children and that while younger girls and boys drew strangers the same distance apart, girls drew themselves closer to their friends (Holmes, 1992, p. 160). However, contrary to the hypothesis, older children drew themselves closer to a stranger than younger children. Perhaps because parents and teachers continually warn young children about stranger danger. The study concluded that children realize that strangers should stand further apart than friends, and that factors of familiarity and age affect the children s expression of nonverbal communication, supporting the hypothesis ... So why are we treating it like this is some common media trash. Our Government may be acting like a bunch of kids when it comes to the debt crisis but having to shut down over a disagreement seems like a bit of a drastic measure. The shutdown caused many programs to shutdown, though many more where still able to function. If the shutdown had lasted longer there would have been an even bigger issue. Something this big isn t a joke this could have turned out significantly worse and people need to understand this. This debt problem that had a large impact on this shutdown didn t just pop out of nowhere. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But unfortunately many national parks and memorials had to be shut down because without funding there was no way to cover the costs to stay open. This caused problems with many veterans who wished to enter the war memorials. This even led to a riot and a break in at a World War 2 Memorial. Many federal workers were furloughed which basically means that they were let off temporarily till the government started back up. So large sums of workers were given a vacation, but if the government had been shut down longer, this could have become a very pressing issue. After the shutdown some research was done to see just which states where hit the hardest. According to NBC Washington Virginia was the state that had the hardest impact from the shutdown. Many of Virginias mortgage loans, on real estate, where backed up with federal funds causing many houses to foreclose. Virginia was also pushed to the top of the list by being the second largest state that houses the most veterans. All of this shows that the people in Virginia where impacted the worst from the shutdown. The biggest problem that still seems to be a very significant issue that the politicians like to toy with is the damn debt ceiling. Instead of treating the debt ceiling for what it is, a limit that should never be exceeded, our politicians decide to raise it whenever the debt gets closer. China isn t impressed. This is an issue that will only spark further shutdowns and should be our highest priority. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Are The Similarities Between Nibelungenlied And Parzival Nibelungenlied and Parzival Although both the Nibelungenlied and Parzival were composed around the same time (c. 1200), they are vastly different in certain respects namely concerning the matters of diplomacy, redemption, revenge, and deceit. Some striking similarities do exist among the two texts concepts of honor (êre), loyalty (triuwe), moderation (mâze) and knightly deeds (âventiure) are valued highly by both societies. However, each notion is accomplished through different measures in each work. In fact, societal values are taken more to the extreme in Nibelungenlied, and deceit is often used to obtain them. For this reason, Parzival is a much more Christian composition. More specifically, consider first the incidents surrounding Siegfried s death, which stem from a loss of honor, but point out other important societal values in the Nibelungenlied. Gunther falsely claims, with Siegfried s approval, that Siegfried is his vassal in order to impress Brunhilde. Siegfried then helps Gunther with the cloak of invisibility to complete tasks of strength, which eventually win Brunhilde. These are deceptions number one and two, and are especially heinous since they occur during a wooing expedition. The third deception of Brunhilde comes about when Siegfried subdues her so that she will sleep with Gunther in the future. The concept of loyalty to one s spouse and to womankind in the world of Parzival forbids any dishonesty in courting endeavors, or any deceit to one s wife. Moreover, nobody openly lies about rank, or social status, because it is far too important of a concept. Gawan is perhaps the only character in Parzival who is not entirely honest about his heritage, when he overcomes the Castle of Wonders and frees his relatives. Robertson frequently recurs to the idea of the court as a theatre and the players in the justice game as actors: Like the squalor behind the splendour of the stage at Convent Garden [the great London opera house], so the solemn ritual of an Old Bailey trial disguised the fact that it was produced in greasepaint and chaos. Robertson s presentation, based on truth, is heavily influenced by bias and opinion against the judge and, thereby, in favour of the defendants. The eventual verdict of guilty is seen to be inevitable. The editors were sent to prison for psychiatric examination. Reason and Sanity The voices of reason and sanity , writes Robertson, were outraged and an appeal lodged. The appeal before the Lord Chief Justice succeeded after he was persuaded that Oz paled in comparison, in terms of obscenity, with numerous other publications freely available. When Dario was measuring my two point sensitivity, I was blindfolded and had to judge whether or not I felt one point or two points. We tested these on multiple locations being, the pad of my index finger, pinky and thumb. We also measured our two point sensitivity on the center of my palm, back of my hand and the top and bottom of my forearm. We took these measurements by starting the metal compass at 1mm for each location. The experimenter would incrementally increase the metal compass after each trial until the participant said they felt two points. The experimenter would then verify that measurement and would repeat the measurement once again for accuracy. My results for my two point threshold sensitivity can be found on the table above. However, we found that the pads of my fingertips had the greatest number of receptive field. This didn t surprise me because it makes sense to have a greater number of receptive fields in areas that are most predominantly used for touch. An Internship Is A Professional Program Introduction In the recent years employers are more interested in hiring new workers with a handful of experience in their field rather than their qualifications. An internship is a professional program that provides practical experiences to students in which they learn and can reflect back on for their future careers. Internships are increasingly becoming more evident in the work force as it helps give employers an opportunity to find good quality employees and in return provides good experience for the intern. Participating in internships, no matter paid or unpaid, is believed to strengthen the probability of acquiring a top notch career in the competitive market. However, the difference between paid and unpaid interns can dramatically change that window of opportunity for those seeking to engage in it. As unemployment rates continue to rise, the competition for internship increases. A large part of the demand market includes newly graduated students who just finished a high educational degree in hopes to outshine their peers who are pursuing the same job. The inclusion of lithium in Reynolds X100 makes sure to block any dislocations within the alloys crystal structure, giving it an outstanding fatigue resistance. Reynolds X100 as stated in paragraph one two has a lack of strength compared to steel. The best way to deal with this is to increase the tubular diameter making it ovular that makes up the bike frame, hence also making sure that it is very resistant to bending. Though these enlarged and irregular sections are difficult to design and employ, the added stiffness to the frame is extensive. Unlike steel, we see that X100 (due to aluminium) has tremendous shock absorption, making the ride of a Reynolds X100 frame much more comfortable.

Conclusively Reynolds X100 is more expensive than steel, due to its large percentage of aluminium, yet still not greatly expensive. In an ethical sense, the production of these bikes will not be wasteful, as aluminium is recyclable. It has great weight, very resistant to forms of decay and resistance to fatigue. The movie revolves on the accomplishment of a government s high risk mission. On the other hand, the mission is not accomplished by the respected men or women in uniform but incarcerated villains who are promised commuted sentences for the successful completion of the mission. The movie is particularly interesting because it involves a group of dangerous characters to accomplish a useful mission. Harley Quinn is the protagonist of the movie. • 33. Samuel Beckett¨s Novel Molloy and Its Particular Style,... There s no question Samuel Beckett was deeply influenced by the avant garde style of fellow Irish novelist James Joyce when writing Molloy. Both Beckett and Joyce allude to the classics (Dante s Purgatorio and Homer s Odyssey, respectively) and both extensively employ interior monologue to often similar effect. Even so, Beckett, ever aware of the shadow cast by his former mentor, also attempted to eschew Joycean tendencies in his works, as demonstrated in Molloy. Here, not only does Beckett entirely deny readers the luxury of context, he deconstructs the very fundamentals of novel and narrative. Distinctly metafictional in form, Molloy self consciously underlines its own artificiality and, on a universal level, that intrinsic to fiction itself. Like the titular allusion of Joyce s Ulysses, the two protagonists in Molloy also embark on a voyage of sorts, albeit the nature of which is even more so internalized. As a result, there s not much by way of plot or setting, which remain intentionally hazy. Still, the novel moves, sometimes at a dizzying pace, in part to its frequent digressions and elision of so many vital answers: Are Molloy and Moran the same character? Is it possible Molloy may not even be a person altogether but rather an alter ego of Moran? Is Molloy a state of mind? What exactly does it mean to be searching for Molloy ? These questions stem from the novel s vague definition of physical space and time, leading some readers to interpret the novel s second ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To one, the task of driving a car with a manual transmission appears easy on paper. Anyone who has gone through the arduous process of learning this skill will state the contrary. This act , which seems to be a simple task of mindless movements of muscle memory, truly is a feat of deftness and finesse. If you place a new driver behind the wheel, this already difficult task seems impossible and daunting. For my seventeenth birthday, I got the one gift that I had desired for as ever since I could say the word car . Not only did I get just a car, I had gotten the automobile I had always lusted after. In my driveway, a dark grey metallic Subaru WRX stood before me. Single turbo four cylinder boxer engine, symmetrical all wheel drive, quad exhaust, it truly was the perfect gateway into the vast world of high performance cars for a young enthusiast. I could not have been happier. The irony was that I could not drive it yet . The car had a six speed manual gearbox and I had barely mastered operating an automatic. I assumed that with all of the Forza and Need For Speed I had played, hours of videos I had watched, and my general knowledge of the mechanics of a car that this skill would come to me naturally. I was sorely mistaken. It was cool fall morning and we had taken my car to one of my baseball ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Chrysanthemums By John Steinbeck Analysis Biography John Ernst Steinbeck was born in Salinas, California, which is where the short story, The Chrysanthemums is set in 1902. He won the Nobel Prize in Literature and his held in high regard, but not quite as high as Faulkner and Hemingway. Steinbeck died of a heart attack in Salinas, California in 1963 (Levant). Overview Steinbeck published the short story The Chrysanthemums in 1937 and included as part of his collection The Long Valley the following year. In the story, Henry Allen and his wife own a ranch. Elisa, Henry s wife, is working with her chrysanthemums. He suggests they go to the town, Salinas, to celebrate their new business. A tinker in a wagon turns into their yard. He asks whether she has any work for him, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She reveals her hair for the first time in the story. When the tinker leaves, she goes through an entire transformation. She takes her clothes off, takes a bath, examines her nude skin, and then redresses herself. Elisa puts on beautifully feminine underwear, clothes, and makeup. This look draws a stark contrast with her bulky gardening clothes. She is now revealed as a sexualized woman instead of a simple tomboy. At the end of the story, she pulls up her coat collar to cover her tears, implying a return to her repressed state in which she has lived most of her life. The chrysanthemums symbolize both Elisa and the limited scope of her life. Like Elisa, the chrysanthemums are lovely, strong, and thriving. Their flowerbed, like Elisa s house, is tidy and scrupulously ordered. Elisa explicitly identifies herself with the flowers, even saying that she becomes one with the plants when she tends to them. When the tinker notices the chrysanthemums, Elisa visibly brightens, just as if he had noticed her instead. She offers the chrysanthemums to him at the same time she offers herself, both of which he ignores and tosses aside. His rejection of the flowers also mimics the way society has rejected women as nothing more than mothers and housekeepers. Just like her, the flowers are unobjectionable and also unimportant: both are merely decorative and add little value to the world. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For many years, the US and USSR have been the leading powers in the whole world. However, the United States was trying to gain followers of their democratic ideal, whereas the USSR promoted communism. Through some attempts of reaching a common ground, both superpowers caused a split between the East and the West until 1991. The main reasons lie in the events of years 1945 1947. Yalta Conference First of all, the Cold War s origins go back to the events of 1945 when two important conferences have occurred: Yalta and Potsdam. • 38. Themes In The Fall Of The House Of Usher An expert in grotesque and arabesque writing, Edgar Allan Poe is known for his great contributions to the Gothic style of writing literature. Poe has a very unique and dark way of writing. His mysterious style of writing appeals to many readers because of it is unlike many other writers. Many of his stories tend to have the same recurring theme of either death or lost love. In The Fall of the House of Usher , however, we see both death and lost love as the major theme. In this short story, Roderick faces mental illness and the loss of his precious sister, Lady Madeline. In The Fall of the House of Usher , Poe includes other narratives and poems within the story. One of the poems he includes is The Haunted Palace. The Haunted Palace begins with very positive vibes using the phrases happy valley and gentle air in order to paint a picture of a beautiful haven. However, in the 5th stanza, the mood drastically changes. Evil spirits appear and invade the haven. Phrases like ghastly river and robes of sorrow now stain the purity of the previously established beauty of the supposed radiant palace . This poem has a great significance in accordance with The Fall of the House of Usher specifically its correlation in themes. The transition of good to evil in The Haunted Palace is very similar to the narrator s views towards the House of Usher. The characters in 10 Things I Hate About You were carefully constructed to accurately represent Shakespeare s play, The Taming of the Shrew, in modern day time while preserving Shakespeare s initial version. The main character in Taming of the Shrew, Katherine, is referred to as Kat in the blockbuster film, 10 Things I Hate About You in order to modernize the adaptation. Both Katherine and Kat are outspoken, bold young women who are avoided by those who have surrounded them. Because of the way they carry themselves, they are not liked by friends, family, or men. • 41. The Invasion Of The Vietnam War Firstly, the invasion of the Vietnam War cannot be justified when the US s ally in the war is a corrupt democracy. When the Vietnam War began the United States puppet state was Ngo Dinh Diem s South Vietnam. Diem was a dictator or the President supposedly of South Vietnam that took power for himself there, and threw all of his civil and political opponents into violent concentration camps. The South Vietnamese President had also oppressed those of different religions specifically Buddhism ( NGO DINH DIEM, FIRST PRESIDENT OF SOUTH VIETNAM. ). Eventually, the Viet Cong who would rather support a communist regime formed due to the oppressive nature of Diem s ruthless democracy. By the time North Vietnam sought to unify the country Diem had opposition from all perspectives, including his most trusted peers. Even with his mockery of a democracy, the United States believed it had to support his efforts in the defense of democracy in South Vietnam. The United States did want a change of power, but were willing to continue with Diem if deemed necessary to win. Benjamin Frankel states this by stating advised the State Department that the United States should begin to search for an alternative to Diem. On 1 November 1963 South Vietnamese military officers overthrew Diem, and he and his brother were shot to death ( Vietnam War: Was U.S. Military Intervention in Vietnam Justified? ).
