Schools Are The Most Significant Socialisation Force Next
Schools are the most significant socialisation force next to the family and it is in school where
children form relationships which influence social and academic outcomes. This would mean
that schools must be a safe place for students to be at. A safe school would equal to better
schooling life. In Australia workplaces or organisations follow a law that is called Work Health
Safety Act or WHS in which has been updated over time and varies from state to state (Business

minimum requirement in its respective state otherwise penalties are issued if they are not met.

Every school is required to carry out regular risk assessments of the premises and activities to
identify any hazards in advance, but all members of staff should also be aware that risk assessment
is an ongoing process, and that they must remain cautious and report any potential hazards to the
health and safety officer (Safe Work Australia 2011). Each school must place its own health and
safety policy and ensure that all staff are trained in its contents. The school should ensure allocating
sufficient resources to meet health and safety priorities. The school should also ensure that
attendance on appropriate work health safety training courses and/or meetings.
All staff should take ownership for, not just their own safety but also ensuring that their actions,
or lack of action, does not cause harm or dangers to others, for example, if a staff was using an
equipment that is for the adult use only, it must be used and stored away where it is out of reach
for students. If the staff can see a potential hazard with the equipment they are using, it must be
reported or taken care of appropriately. If safety equipment is provided, then staff must ensure it is
used at all times. For example, it is customary to wear aprons and closed shoes in the kitchen
throughout the practical. If there comes a student wearing the inappropriate types of shoes, you, as
a teacher should make the judgement to either let them find closed shoes so they can participate in

The Interlopers Short Story
The Compare and Contrast of The Story of an Hour And The Interlopers In the two stories The
Interlopers and The Story of an Hour, there are many similarities and many differences. With
different authors, the plots hold very different themes, climax, and rising actions. Though the
two stories are very different, there are some similarities when you look close enough. The Story
of an Hour revolves around a woman named Louise Mallard who has heart trouble. When her
sister Josephine breaks the news to her that her husband was a part of a lethal train accident,
Louise does not take the news well and locks herself in her room. While in solitude, she looks
out an open window. She sees trees, smells approaching rain, and hears a peddler yelling out
what he s selling. She realizes with the death of her husband brought her a freedom. She could
now live for herself. She opens the door and is met with her sister who helps her walk down the
stairs. Once they almost make it down however, the door swings open and in walks her husband
who was presumed to have died. Louise then has a fatal heart attack right then and there in
surprise and joy at seeing her husband once again. In The Interlopers, its speaks of a generational
loathing between two families. It began when Ulrich von Gradwitz, the local nobleman, was
patrolling a narrow stretch of scrubby woodland that borders his much larger and more valuable
holdings of forestland. The land that he patrols, however, acquires its value

Media Views On Climate Change
The carbon dioxide levels in the 20th century have been highest in 650,000 years. Till 1950, the
levels rose by 11% and recently the levels have risen by 40%. Arctic ice is melting rapidly. It is
estimated that by 2040 the region is to have a completely ice free summer, or even earlier. More
than 1 million species have become extinct due to disappearing habitats caused due to global
warming. Sea levels have risen about 7 inches in the last 100 years, which is more than the
previous 2000 years combined. The rising sea levels due to global warming could threaten the lives
of people living along the coastal areas. The consumption of fossil fuels in last few decades has

On one side of the argument we have we have scientists, who recognise that climate change is
present in our society today and realise the importance of direct action. They provide us with
important and relevant data and statistics that are evidence that climate change is real.
On the other side of the argument we have anti climate change activists, who are sceptical about the
issue of climate change. They argue that climate change is an attention seeking stunt, and financial
recognition of an irrelevant sector of the science community. Often just trying to convince people
that climate change is a hoax.
Media coverage of climate change has effects on public attitude on the issue, as it mediates

The Odyssey Essay In The Odyssey
The Odyssey Essay Draft Dark and scary Odysseus and his men stuck in the cave fighting to
save their lives by a big and large creature with the name Cyclops. In the epic poem, The Odyssey
by Homer, It all started when Odysseus and his men wanted to take a rest after a long time
floating on the water. Little did they know what they were getting themselves into. The large
creature entered the cave, and man they were definitely in for a heck of a ride. Odysseus is
brave and wise. Odysseus is Brave. For example, Odysseus heated up the stake getting ready to
stab the Cyclops in the eye. To make a stake with pointed ends, this in the fires heart toughening
it. (9. 231 232). This shows that Odysseus was brave because, he had the braveness and strength
to heat up the stake and get ready to stab the Cyclops in the eye. This also shows that Odysseus is
brave because the Cyclops is a very large and scary creature. Odysseus stayed strong and did
what he had to do to get back to his home, ad return with him and his men safe. Odysseus is
nothing comparable in size to the Cyclops. In addition Odysseus stabbed the Cyclops right in the
dead center of his eye. So with our brand we bored that great eye, while blood ran out and around
the hot bar (9. 296 297). This shows that Odysseus was very brave because he stabbed the Cyclops
right in the eye and risked his life to save his men and himself. This also shows that Odysseus was
brave because the Cyclops was very close to grabbing the men

Analysis Of The Wild West
Western Identity The Wild West, in American history, is often thought of as being an ideology
filled with adventure and happy endings. This picture of the Wild West is largely in place due to
the romanticizing of the West by Hollywood. Movies portraying the West are filled with
stereotypes, whether they are purposeful or not, that do not accurately show what defines the
Western persona. Stereotypical situations such as Indians being depicted as savages and noble
sheriffs saving the day leave out certain facts that defined the Wild West. Many Indians were
betrayed and slaughtered by American citizens in the Wild West, as shown throughout Dee Brown
s novel, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. Red River, a popular movie with John Wayne about

To many miners, days seemed like years and months like decades. In addition to hardship in
mining, many Americans on the frontier experienced challenges in farming. At first it was difficult
for Americans to grow crops in the West, but eventually technology of agriculture was able to give
Americans the ability to grow crops more efficiently. Wild West was full of trials, and living in it
was certainly not an easy task. It is impossible to write about hardship in the Wild West without
talking about the hardship that Native Americans faced. The war on Indians by the United States
government focused on relocating all Native Americans to reservations so that Americans could
settle in more lands. For this reason, many Native Americans undoubtedly fought back against the
United States government. This led to violence and the slaughtering of Indians for which the Wild
West is known. One famous event concerning the Indian Wars was the Wounded Knee Massacre
.
Dee Brown described this event in her novel, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, saying that the
United States 7th Cavalry Regiment opened up on them, firing almost a shell a second, raking the
Indian camp, shredding the teepees with flying shrapnel, killing men, women, and children.
According to Brown, [o]ne estimate placed the final total of dead at very nearly three hundred of
the original 350 men, women, and children.

Frederick Douglass, An American Slave
Frederick Douglass is well known for many of his literary achievements. He is best known, now,
as a writer. As a writer, Frederick Douglass shined. As a speaker, he was the best. There was no
abolitionist, black or white, that was more for his speaking skills. (McFeely, 206) So impressive
were Frederick Douglass s oratorical and intellectual abilities that opponents refused to believe
that he had been a slave and alleged that he was a impostor brought up on the public by the
abolitionists. In reply, Douglass wrote Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An
American Slave (1845), which he revised in later years: in final form, it appeared in 1882 under the
title Life and Times Of Frederick Douglass. (Graves, 52 ) Frederick s oratory skills left the largest
impact on Civil War time period literature. Douglass s most significant autobiographical works
include: Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave: My Bondage And My
Freedom: and Life And Times Of Frederick Douglass. These three books are about the same
person, and share a similar message, but are written by Frederick at different times of his life,
looking at the past in different ways. In Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, Douglass
used a simple, yet educated way to show how he felt as a slave growing up in Maryland. He
describes in the Narrative I have often been so pinched with hunger as to dispute with old Nep, the

Connotation In Regina Barreca s Nighttime Fires And Elders
The poems Nighttime Fires and Seniors both deal with memories of their authors experiences as
youth. In Nighttime Fires , Regina Barreca talks about how after her father lost his job, he
developed an unhealthy obsession with watching houses burn, and she discusses how he involved
his family in this somewhat insalubrious fixation. Similarly, in Seniors , Alberto Rios discusses
several events that had an impact on him and the word choices he uses relays that he still While
Barreca implies in her poem that she learned from what her father did and moved on, Rios
suggests that he is still allowing the events of his childhood to impact him today and in some sense,
this could be compared to the father in Nighttime Fires who would not let... Show more content on

The use of dynamic language is apparent in both poems. In Nighttime Fires , Barreca chose to use
words that have a strong negative connotation and allude to conflict. The title itself carries no
conflict, and just from reading the title, the reader could presuppose that the poem is simply
discussing something positive such as a sitting around a campfire or fireplace. However, as she
starts the poem, she uses words that that display both the excitement she felt, as well as the
frustration that her father was experiencing after losing his job. At first, she uses dynamic words
and phrases such as piled / running noses / drove fast and later on, festival and carnival these
words seem to denote the excitement that Barreca felt as a child. Yet, while she felt excited, she
can now see the conflict and frustration that her father was experiencing and proceeds to utilize
more negative language to express this frustration. She describes how her father would be awake
past midnight , read old newspapers with no news , and split the pencil between his teeth, mad .
These dynamic phrases and words carry heavy connotations and, in literature, would usually only be
applied to moments of conflict or frustration. Alberto Rios also uses dynamic language in

Disadvantages Of Steam Irons
If you love light and bright, you will be friends for a long time with the Panasonic NI E660SR.
This Panasonic model is eye catching, not really because of dashing looks, but because of its
unique shape and color combination. Like most Panasonic models, it has a U shaped design and a
curved sole plate. This design allows for pressure to be concentrated at the center of the sole plate
during ironingwhich allows easier movement of the iron and less tugging. The U shaped design
allows steam to be evenly distributed around the sole plate for efficiency in ironing. As for color,
the Panasonic NI E660SR comes in dazzling white with a splash of magenta .
The handle is just basic plastic, there is nothing fancy. It does not have a comfort grip like the
Black and Decker 2030 or the thumb rest and ergonomic controls of the Rowenta DW2070. It is
still manageable though perhaps because it a light iron. It is possibly one of the lightest steam
irons you will come across. Weighing a paltry 3.1 pounds, it is way lighter than the Sunbeam

course being light has its own disadvantages especially when dealing with difficult creases in

This report will discuss Katherine Gorge. The Katherine gorge is a narrow valley in between hills
/valleys, with some steep rock walls and streams running through it into a pool. In this report, it will
include the geographic location, landscape, climate, formation, culture views, major threats as well
as a conclusion.
Geographic Location:
The Katherine Gorge is located in the Northern Territory, 244km southeast of Darwin. The area of
the Katherine Gorge is 2.947km2 and the latitude and longitude coordinates are 14.0873В° S,

Landscape:
The Katherine gorge is a river with surrounding gorges and landscapes with great significance to
the owners of the land, The Jawoyn people. Deep gorges surround the carved ancient sandstone
following the Katherine River the main attraction to the park. There are 13 gorges surrounding the
National Park, some with rapids and falls. During the dry seasons of the Katherine gorge, the
waters are calm in most spots around the park and are ideal for swimming and sometimes canoeing,
though in most parts of the gorges fresh water crocodiles have been found, but are usually resting ...

Another threat to the Katherine gorge is the flooding which has in the past caused flooded roads
causing no car to be able to get up to the National Park which the Katherine Gorge is located at
and also in a past incident a car got trapped in the floods, with 5 people in it, 4 survivors but

Is Cctv Surveillance Helping to Reduce Crime or Is It...
Topic: Is CCTV surveillance helping to reduce crime or is it affecting the people s privacy in public

SURVEILLANCE: A CURSE TO PRIVACY
What does privacy means? Privacy can be defined as that area of a man s life which, in any given
circumstances, a reasonable man with an understanding of the legitimate needs of the community
would think it wrong to invade (Aquilina, 2010). For example, when people walk on street or
play in parks, shop in a public market place, study or talk on phone in public library, they want it to
be free in doing all this. However, if the people find them being monitored on CCTV cameras, they
feel it uncomfortable to stay in that environment anymore. On one hand, the government is taking

levels afterward. Wounding and assault rates remained consistent although vehicle thefts declined.
Those who used the city centre at night were less fearful. But same as the case in New Castle

people of Birmingham were losing faith in the effects of CCTVs. Lastly, In King s Lynn vehicle

The Importance Of Philip II To The Destruction Of Greece
Philip II ascended to the throne as the king of Macedon in what can be recognised as one of its
most difficult times, as his country was virtually on the brink of collapse. Despite these
immediate overwhelming odds, the future of the twenty one year olds life as king would see
him not only revive his depleted state, but overcome constant battles with rival oppressive
forces both within and outside Macedon s borders. It was these crucial further actions executed
by Philip that would see him etch his name into history forever, and spark a complicated debate
that is; is it fair to describe Philip II as a foreign despot who wrought the destruction of Greek
liberty? This paper will argue that Philip was in fact a foreign despot, however did not seek the
destruction of Greece herself, but rather sought its unity while in a state of dismay. While
technically Philip matches the description of a foreign despot, that is a ruler of absolute power
from another nation, it is apparent that he had no intentions to destroy Greece, but rather unify it
both through military and political standpoints, both of which will be discussed and argued in this
text. Youngest son of Amyntas III and successor of Perdiccas III, Philip rose to the throne while

among different groups of users. Students were often the last ones to be able to use the internet
so they invented tricks such as writing computer games with a Trojan horse inside to check
whether the program was running as root, and if so, created an additional privileged account

not present in the source. So even if you can buy a system with verifiable secure software for the
operating system, applications and tools, the compiler binary can still contain a Trojan. The moral

The Entangled Political Economy Of Copyright
The Entangled Political Economy of Copyright
Colin Harris1 ABSTRACT: This paper uses the entangled political economy framework developed
by Wagner (2014) to analyze the effects that copyright legislation has on content producers and
pirate communities. I identify Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies as part of the
superfluous discovery process that results when politically enforced copyright legislation works to
subsidize the cost of creating property rights in creative goods. I also analyze the effects that

printing and regulating books. Their monopoly power, granted by the Licensing of the Press Act

Simone De Beauvoir And Frantz Fanon And The Oppression Of...
The majority dictates history, policy, science and general education. With the view of the
minority so firmly permeating society s mind, the voice of the minority falls to the wayside.
Simone de Beauvoir, Frantz Fanon, and Michel Foucault all seek to establish a voice for the
minority, and a path to freedom and liberation from the dominance of the normalized majority. In
her work The Second Sex. De Beauvoir tackles the oppression of women. While not a minority,
women are written out of society by a more dominant male society, and experience oppression like
that felt by the minority. Like minority groups, women are relegated to a status of otherness in
society, which defines them as outside the bounds of the accepted and... Show more content on

Simone de Beauvoir defines the lived experience of women as one of otherness, and from this
stems the oppression of women. De Beauvoir explains the lived experiences of women when she
states that he is the Subject; he is the Absolute. She is the other. The man constitutes himself at the
subject and the absolute, both descriptors place complete emphasis and importance on the man, the
women are only relevant in their existence as the other. Since women are presently regulated to the
category of the other, humanity is male, and man defines women, not in herself, but in relation to
himself; she is not considered an autonomous being. Without a form of autonomy women have no
basis for understanding themselves as women. If women must identify themselves through men,
there is no way to escape a society in which men are the center of society and women are merely
peripheral beings that conflate themselves to the wills and wishes of the more relevant man. De
Beauvoir s notion of liberation and freedom called on women to reclaim the category of
womanhood to create an autonomous and working woman who can break out of the master slave
dynamic created by the

Warrior Archetype Research Paper
What makes a warrior is it:being able to push through hardships to the end, perhaps it s the ability
to be disciplined enough to deny any incentives that would deter you from your goals,or maybe it s
something not as positive maybe it s the ability to ruthlessly pursue your goals regardless of who s
in your path.Having similar qualities to the warriorarchetype is not necessarily a bad
thing, however the same can be said for it being good also. Take for example Wonder Woman she
fights for the greater good, but she is not afraid to kill for the greater good.
The archetype that was chosen for me based on the quiz was the warrior.A warrior is someone
who does anything necessary to achieve their dreams and goals.I do not believe I fully resemble ...

A character that immediately comes to mind for ruthlessness is Blaine from Izombie. Blaine is a
psychopathic zombie that infects humans only to force them to buy brains for an outrageous price
from him just to stay alive. That is a perfect example of ruthlessness and I hope to never stoop to
the point where I have to bring others down to achieve my goals in life.
I ve already said many bad things about this archetype implying that it is only bad, however it s
quite the contrary.A warrior is also courageous, competitive, and disciplined. Courageousness go
hand and hand usually when a person is courageous they have morals so they can stay on the right
path and stay courageous so they have to be very disciplined to keep these morales intact.
My favorite trait of this archetype is competitiveness I view myself as a very competitive
person.I believe we all need a friend who keeps us motivated to be the best at something. When I
work at something I love I don t want to stop halfway and call it done I want to ace it and work
as hard as possible at it until eventually I am considered the very best at it. I want to be known as
a somebody in this world, be someone who impacts someone else s life in a positive manner. In
my opinion being a non competitive person is how you fail to achieve your highest expectations
and goals.Which is something I never hope to happen to me or anyone

Natural Resources: Soil
__________________________________________________________________________________By
Evan and Ronin This is soil. It is made up of four layers, each filled with air, water, minerals and
organic matter underneath the surface of the Earth. Some of these are found deeper under the soil
than others. It is made up of many different things, and we humans cannot live without it. Soil is
the foundation for many things, essential to many things that keep humans alive, and are needed
for the survival for all living things on the planet. Without soil, things would disappear, things that
humans need to live. The main thing that soil causes to happen, is the growth of plants, which
humans need to survive for various reasons. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of these groups have made it their responsibility to the Earth to preserve it s natural

information, as well as a description of what they do to preserve soil. Now, Recare works to
prevent and remediate the degradation and overuse of soil in and all across Europe. Recare

Database Management Systems ( Dbms )
Data is at the centre of most today s businesses and businesses must pay close attention to how they
access, store and use data. One of the systems at the heart of current data management is different
database management system.
But as with most technology product out there, people have a wide range of database technologies
and systems to choose from. Picking out the most convenient for your business can be difficult.
This guide will hope to explain what database management systems are and what are the benefits
for using one. We ll also explain some of the most common distinctions between these technologies
and provide you a few tips on how to select the best system for your business.
Introduction to database management systems
What are database management systems (DBMS)? First, it s good to understand the different
components of DBMS. At the core of DBMS is database, which is essentially an organised
collection of data. The data in database is modelled in reality in a manner, which helps supports
processes that seek information.
Creating a database is simple, but you also need to be able to use the database for different
functions. This is where database management systems come to the rescue.
A DBMS is a computer software application, which helps to interact with the user of the database,
different applications, as well the database itself in order to gather and analyse data. A DBMS
allows interaction with the data, whether it is to create, analyse, delete or change

Murder Mystery Play Research Paper
INITIAL REACTION GENERAL RESPONSE Choosing a play was definitely not easy, in fact,
it was probably the hardest part of this project for me. I am usually not one to dig into and enjoy
plays very much. I am more of a musical theater person, I love to sing and dance. However, when
this project was assigned I chose to think open mindedly and chose something a little bit out of
my comfort zone. Instead of picking a musical I love like Annie , Legally Blonde , or Hamilton.
I chose a murder mystery play called The Mousetrap. Going into the process I had a pretty good
idea of what the play was about, because I had seen it when Oconomowoc High School did it for
their senior directed play in 2015, and then I also saw it again in December of that year with my
drama class when the Milwaukee Rep did it. When I first say the play I loved it! I was so
intrigued from the very beginning and all the way to the last second. That very night that I saw
the show I went home and looked it on youtube and started to watch it again, and to be honest I
rewatched it several times since then. After seeing it I started promoting the show, and I went and
told all of my friends that it was something they had to go see and that it was written so brilliantly!

A New Weapon Against Ebola
Deoxyribozymes: A New Weapon Against Ebola
Robert Hagerty
Introduction:
Currently there is an epidemic of ebola occurring in Africa. It is spreading rapidly and coming up
with an effective treatment or vaccine is important for curbing the disease. However, Ebola has the
ability to mutate and would likely mutate around any potential treatment or vaccine developed. This
raises important questions in the area of treatment. Generally, creating new medications takes many
years and cannot hope to keep up with viral diseases.
One area of antiviral treatment involves finding enzymes that will selectively disintegrate the
protein constructs of viruses or selectively cleave viral RNA. There are many different types of
biological polymers that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Previous Research:
DNAzymes are made using a process called in vitro selection whereby a large group of random
DNA strands are artificially selected for based on the ability to cleave RNA. The most studied
DNAzyme is the 10 23. The name comes from the 10th round of in vitro selection and the 23rd
round of cloning4. This is a 15 nucleotide sequence with proven enzymatic cleaving properties5. To
target specific sites, RNA recognizing sequences called guide strands that are 7 nucleotides long
are attached to this main catalytic strand on each side. The 10 23 DNAzyme does not require
cofactors, but in some cases they have been shown to improve enzymatic activity6,7.
The challenges facing the development of an antiretroviral drug for Ebola are varied. Effective
cleavage sites need to be found in the genome that are conserved and are attackable based on the
requirement for the 10 23 DNAzyme to cleave. Beyond these targeting barriers, the dosage of the
DNAzyme may depend on the concentration of virions. Furthermore, certain cofactors may
increase the effectiveness of the DNAzyme.
There is has already been some research done in this area to answer these questions. DNAzymes
have already been used exogenously to fight the flu, hepatitis C, and HIV in cultured animal
cells8,9,10. These studies found orders of magnitudes of decrease in viral load upon treatment of
cells with certain DNAzymes. There are multiple DNAzyme drugs in clinical trials and one drug is

A Small Incident, And On The Oxcart By Lu Xun
Asian stories are mostly characterized by experiences that may impact the reader s life and
reshape it in some way. First person narration is one of the most common literatures we can find
between these kind of stories. In stories like A Small Incident by Lu Xun, and On the Oxcart by
Xiao Hong, we can clearly notice that the authors are trying to give us a message within the
anecdote. Lu Xuns story, about an episode that changed his life, has a pretty direct message he
wishes to portray to the reader. On the other hand, Xiao Hong s narration is one that has the reader
thinking about what message he s trying to portray. Both stories have a unique point of view on

The Importance Of Human Relations
Summary What is human relations? The term human relations is defined as the interactions
among people. Human relations are important to me as well as many others because it is a skill
you need to master to be able to work well with others and build lasting relationships. Whether it
be working with other employees from a different cultural background or learning how to
maintain a good relationship with your boss, mentor, or leader, having good human relation
skills will help you succeed in not only your personal life but your professional life as well.
Human relation skills are important to organizations because the skills learned play a major role
in what makes an organization succeed. Workplace relations directly affect work performance
and employees must work together through what is defined as teamwork (working together to
achieve something beyond the capabilities of individuals working alone) to accomplish the
organizations overall goal. An organizations overall goal should entitle the goal of human
relations, which is to create a win win situation by satisfying employee needs while achieving
organizational objectives. A.How would you describe yourself as a person? I would describe
myself as an outgoing, ambitious, compassionate, and a creative person with an intuitive mind. I
am goal oriented, and I aspire to be successful in everything that I do by working hard and
accomplishing many tasks. I empathize with others, but I like to take control of a situation if I

What Is The Final Chapter Of Nickel And Dimed
The final chapter of Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich, Evaluation , states about low
income families being almost invisible to the mid to high income families. This observation is
valid because walking around places, Walmart, Kmart, etc., a person cannot distinguish what
class the person is in. Poorer families are also rarely portrayed on television or other forms of
entertainment, unless the show is about people getting arrested, since most people only find
higher class, comfortable people interesting. Also, everything in society is unequal, a person can
sit at a desk and order people around all day, without moving, and earn a salary of at least
$60,000, while the individual or individuals who get stuck with all of his work, are getting paid
around $25,000 a year. Yes, everyone starts out at a low on the totem pole job at a company and
they work their way up the food chain to get to the job they want, but the lower class gets
deemed lazy and or a high school dropout if they are seen waiting tables or working at a fast
food place or retail store past the age of 25 30. Just because they are working twice as hard as the

The Ratio And Profitability Ratio
Profitability Ratio Profitability is important in determining if a company is maximizing wealth
because it measures the efficiency and performance of the overall company functions. It is used
to determine the worth of investment to stocks. There is two type of profitability ratios.
Margins and returns are the profitability ratios. A margin ratio for profitability is cash flow

the cash flow statement. The ratios represent the ability to convert sales dollars into profits at a
different point for measurement. Investors, creditors, and manager have the powerful view the

Summary Of Attachment Theory
Article Summary
Anne Merrill and Tamara Afifi (2015) examine how attachment theory emotionally and cognitively
interacts with various secret keeping instances (Merrill, Afifi, 2015, p. 259). Research has shown
that secrecy has harmful affects such as, anxiety and stress (Merrill, Afifi, 2015, pp. 259 260).
However the level to which these individuals ponder, or ruminate, about the secret varies from
person to person (Merrill, Afifi, 2015, p. 259).
Theoretically, these researchers utilize the preoccupation models of secrecy to explain why secrecy
negatively affects a person s well being (Merrill, Afifi, 2015, p. 260). Research states, individuals in
a romantic relationship are likely to experience cognitive tension due to thought suppression and
intrusive thoughts (rumination), which continually repeat in efforts to maintain secrecy (Merrill,
Afifi, 2015, pp. 260 261). Attachment theory states, those individuals who are securely attached
(low anxiety and avoidance) are less likely to keep secrets from their partner because they are more

Spina Bifida in School Aged Children

Mrs. Julie Miller

Spina Bifida is a neural tube defect that is present at birth. It is thought to be caused by a folic acid
deficiency in the first month of pregnancy. This disease can be either symptomatic or
asymptomatic. There are three types of Spina Bifida including: Spina Bifida Occulta, Spina Bifida
Meningocele, and Spina Bifida Myelomeningocele. The main treatment for Spina Bifida is surgery
that occurs right after birth to close the spinal opening and could include several more surgeries
throughout the child s life.
Spina Bifida Occulta is usually asymptomatic. It could be undetected for years, and only found
via diagnostic procedures for another diagnosis completely. It may also present as a sacral
dimple or a small patch of hair on the infants back at birth. People diagnosed with Spina Bifida
Occulta can lead a normal life without interference of the disease. There is usually no treatment
needed for this form of Spina Bifida. (Mayo Clinic Staff, 2014)

This is to close the opening in the spinal cord, to prevent infection, and to prevent any further
damage of the spinal cord. Shunts may be placed at this time as well if they child was born with
hydrocephaly. The treatment doesn t end there; children may be subject to many more surgeries
throughout their lives including: bowel and bladder surgery to help with incontinence, frequency,
and constipation, they may also have surgery to correct deformities in feet, ankles, legs or backs.
The child may need to have their bladder enlarged by connecting the appendix to add more space
causing less incontinence, or they may have an opening to the outside of the body for an easier

Assisted Suicide Research Paper
After researching assisted suicide I have more questions than when I started. The definition of
assisted suicide is very factual: suicide facilitated by another person, especially a physician, who
organized the logistics of the suicide, as by providing the necessary quantities of a poison (The
definition of assisted suicide2016). After much research I have learned that assisted suicide is an
option one has to make depending on their moral standards, will to live, and how they want to die
rather than a factual process one can follow. Assisted suicide is currently legal in five states:
Oregon, Vermont, Washington, California and Montana (Physician Assisted Suicide Fast Facts
2016). Each state differs in the process toward obtaining physician assisted suicide approval, but all
follow the generic rule that one must have the mental capability to communicate their own
decisions regarding their terminal illness(How to Access and Use Deathwith Dignity Laws 2016). I
question how one can truly make such a decision for themselves if they are in pain from their
terminal illness. In California they have the rule that one must submit two oral requests, each
fifteen days apart, and a written request to the attending physician (Physician Assisted Suicide
Fast Facts 2016). I feel this is a great way of avoiding patients who may be making this decision
based off of impulsive drives and decisions. Other guidelines to being eligible for assisted suicide
includes that one must be eighteen

Tattoos Senior Project
My senior project was over the History of Tattooing, I chose this as my topic because Tattoos
really interest me with all the different styles and meanings behind them. Some things I already
knew about Tattooing is a lot of tribes used tattoos to symbolize things, but I didn t know
what. With my research I expected to find a lot more upfront information, like maybe a for sure
area on where they originated and exactly how it spread, but it was so spread out it was hard for
anyone to pinpoint exactly who did them first.
Doing my senior project I found out that just doodling a Tattoo is difficult because you wouldn t
want it to be flat or too simple, so you have to really but in detail and attempt to put in depth to
help your piece come to life even before it s on skin, What I did was I put in a different color
where the bottom area of the tentacle is and tried to do highlighting with some silver to give more
depth. My mentor assisted me with ideas also with her Tattoo in general.... Show more content on

Paul The Apostle Was A Very Godly Man One Of Many On Long
Paul the Apostle was a very godly man one of many on long list of godly people who spent their
lives serving God s purpose. Paul was the author of several epistles, writing out the words of God
to the people of the church. Have you ever wondered why Paul wrote out the epistle of Ephesians
and the effects that the letter had on the congregation in which he wrote too? In the book of
Ephesians, it is clearly shown that the Apostle Paul is the indeed the author of the Epistle of
Ephesians. Paul s epistles are intended for all of those who want to know Jesus Christ. The book of
Ephesians is surrounded with the information that shows the discipline in which to develop into a
true son and daughter of our Lord Jesus Christ. Studying the book of... Show more content on

Without doubt this was indeed meant for saints that are faithful in Jesus Christ. Paul has gone
on several missionary journeys, Paul first traveled to Ephesus for a short visit closer to the end
of his second missionary journey which was on the positioned on the southwest coast of modern
day turkey, one of the immense cities in that region of the world was Ephesus. The prosperous
commercial center and home for the praising of the goddess Diana is the Roman capital. Even
though Paul succulently studied at the local synagogue with the Jews and was offered to stay
for a longer period of time, he arranged plans to visit them after he traveled to Jerusalem. On Paul
s third missionary journey he returned to Ephesus for a longer time period, and extended stay of
three years. After Paul s earlier success with turning John s twelve disciples, he then spent around
three months in the local synagogues teaching. There was obstruction to Paul s doctrine that
forced him to depart from the synagogues, but for a period of about two years Paul was able to
remain teaching in the school of Tyrannus. The ending affect was the gospel eventually spread from
Ephesus throughout Asia Minor. Eventually with the continuation of some of the local idol maker s
disturbances forced Paul to leave Ephesus. As Paul neared the end of his third missionary journey,
he stopped at Miletus, meeting with the elders of the church of Ephesus. Paul has reminded the

Loyalty In The Outsiders By S. E. Hinton
The silence grew heavier, and I could hear the harsh heavy breathing of the boys around me. Still
Darry and the Soc walked slowly in a circle (Hinton, 143). The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is a
realistic fiction novel taking place in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1966. The story informs the reader of a
rivalry between two gangs, the Socials (Socs) who are the rich people that have nice cars, clothes,
and have a bright future ahead of them. The Socs live on the West side. The Greasers are the other
gangwho weren t rich, weren t known to have bright futures and always had grease in their hair,
hence the name Greasers. Throughout the story many themes have been applied to our society
today. Two themes that I have chosen were that loyalty is a thread that holds people together and to
not judge people based on how society labels them.
Being loyal is to have a strong feeling of support or allegiance for someone or something.
In The Outsiders, Ponyboy and all the other Greasers had to assist each other in order not to get
pushed around by the Socs. An example of loyalty involves Ponyboy, Sodapop, and Darry, Since
Mom and Dad were killed in an auto wreck, the three of us get to stay together only as long as we
behave. So Soda and I stay out of trouble as much as we can (Hinton, 3). This quote shows how
the Curtis boys had to be more trustworthy and dependable to each other since their parents died or
if not, they would have to be separated. Another loyalty quote I found says, You take up

Lucian Freud
Freud, Lucian (1922 ). German born British painter. He was born in
Berlin, a grandson of Sigmund Freud, came to England with his parents in 1931, and acquired
British nationality in 1939. His earliest love was drawing, and he began to work full time as an
artist after being invalided out of the Merchant Navy in 1942. In 1951 his Interior at
Paddington (Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool) won a prize at the Festival of Britain, and since then he
has built up a formidable reputation as one of the most powerful contemporary figurative painters.
Portraits and nudes are his specialities, often observed in arresting close up.

Freud s subjects are often the people in his life; friends, family, fellow painters, lovers, children.
As he has said The subject matter is autobiographical, it s all to do with hope and memory and
sensuality and involvement really . Paintings in the exhibition will range from Girl with Roses
1948 to Garden, Notting Hill Gate 1997, and highlights include the marvellous series of portraits of
his mother, portraits of fellow painters John Minton, Michael Andrews and Frank
Auerbach, and other major works including Large Interior W11 (after
Watteau) 1981 3. Sharp pictures of his youth will contrast with the works of his maturity, paintings
filled with life and liveliness, each in its way a celebration.
I paint people , Freud has said, not because of what they are like, not exactly in spite of what they
are like, but how they happen to be . Until the mid 1950 s, Freud worked in a tightly focused style,
which he had begun to use at the East Anglian School of Drawing and
Painting, run by Cedric Morris. The school was very informal; as Freud said, there was No
teaching much but there were models and you could work in your own room . In many ways he
worked by trial and error:
Landscape with Birds (no. 3, shown in room 1) was an experiment with the kind of enamel paint
he thought was used by Picasso. As he said later, Learning to paint is literally learning to use paint.
Around 1956 Freud exchanged his finely pointed

Compare and Contrast Two Short Stories
Compare and Contrast Two Short Stories
Landlady by Roald Dahl and Chemistry by Graham Swift
There are lots of great short stories out there, but in my opinion, both Chemistry by Graham Swift
and The Landlady by Roald Dahl are two of the most unique and effective stories. They share both
similarities and differences throughout. Comparing and contrasting the way the authors use their
inimitable writing style to achieve their intentions in the story will give us more idea how these
stories are alike and distinct.
In a way, these two stories are similar because both the authors had carefully chosen the words ...

In the beginning , Billy thought the landlady was terribly nice ,which he was quite grateful to
have such a nice landlady who give him a well appointed service, but as the conversations go on,
Billy was then frightened by her weird and creepy contents, he sat there staring straight ahead of
him into the far corner of the room, biting his lower lip. tells the readers that he s begin to
frightened and suspect landlady, foreshadowing the readers that she might be doing something that
couldn t be trusted by Billy.
In another way, these two stories are different because the authors have been using different
perspective when narrating the story. In Chemistry , author s written the story in the word of narrator
, mixing both the perspective of adult and young boy s. Line My father s death was a far less
remote event than my grandfather s but no more explicable, I was only seven. can be a good
example. Almost the whole story was written in past tense, added to the effect of recalling. He s
shown a grown up man recalling memories when he was back in 7 10 years old. This kind of
writing style makes readers felt more personal, because the subject is I , when reading out the
story, readers will feel like they re experiencing the narrators life, as if they are the narrator. Also,
another interesting fact about this kind of writing style is that if I were to look at the same events
in other character s perspective, it might be another whole different story because

RUNNING HEAD: ARGUMENTATION AND COLLABORATION
The purpose of this paper is to identify key issues based on lectures and readings done from this
past week. From the readings, the main focus for the week dealt with Argumentation and
Collaboration. If in any situation, how would the argument be constructed and supported, how to
explain the way perception will affect decision making, and lastly explain the importance of having
clear communication in business.
Argumentation
Argumentation deals with learning persuasive techniques of how to convince someone to think or
act in a particular way. No matter what the issue maybe, there is always going to be someone that
has opposing views. When forming any type of argumentation, the ... Show more content on

Communication
The vitality of communication is very important. Robbins and Judge (2007) tells us that an idea, no
matter how great, is useless until it is transmitted and understood by others according to chapter 11
(Organizational Behavior). Without the function of communication, it is impossible for anything to
go on; nothing will exist. In order for communication to take place, it must be a phase of
transmission of meaning from one person to another and the meaning must be understood.
The most useful concept or idea is communication. Communication is what makes things or break
things. The effectiveness of how the well the communication is will determine the outcome of any
situation. Anyone can communicate, but as stated before, there must be transmission and meaning.
Realistically, all of the concepts and issues relate to the organization. Everyday, argumentation is
performed. Why do you feel this is adequate for the company? Not only argumentation, but
decisions are made throughout the entirety of the day. Have the decisions been thought out? Will
this solve the problem or make a difference? Lastly, there is communication. Communication will
determine to what extent the work will get completed, and how well information was perceived. All
of these aspects are essential in an organization and helps make the organization better place.
Conclusion
In conclusion, reading the material gave the opportunity

Trinity Monistic
Father, Son and Holy Spirit is a common phrase in the Christian faith. Who are these people and
what do they represent? These three people are separate people, but represent one God. The
concept of the Trinity creates a lot of debate, because some skeptics think that the Trinity is either
Monistic or Pagan. The Father, Son and Holy Spiritare three separate beings that represent one God,
and this can be seen in different passages in the Bible.
Is the Trinity Monistic or a Pagan grouping of Gods? The Trinity is not monistic because God
does not reveal himself in three different forms. The Trinity is three co existing eternal persons
who exist as one God. The Trinity is also not three separate Gods. The Father is the godhead of the

An example of this trend takes place in the book of Isaiah. Jesus states I AM several times in the
chapter. Jesus is making a strong statement that he is God. God is the Trinity, and Jesus is one of
the persons that make up God. In John 5:18 Jesus breaks the rules of the Sabbath, and calls God
his own Father. Jesus is making it known that he is the Son of the Father, and therefore, equal to
God. The only way Jesus could be God is if he is the Son of the Father. This passage shows Jesus
place in the Trinity. The most concrete example of Jesus being one with God takes place in John
10:33. Jesus states I and the Father are one where Jesus is very clearly defining himself as God.
Jesus is God along with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Jesus proves he is a part of the Trinity by
clearly stating that he is one with

Initial Dose Escalation
OIT is accomplished by mixing the allergenic food into a vehicle and ingesting it in gradually
increasing doses. Protocols have varied considerably with regard to dosing and the type of food
used. Most OIT protocols include an initial dose escalation, followed by a gradual dose build up
and a prolonged maintenance phase (Keet and Wood,2014). Initial dose escalation is typically
conducted on a single day, beginning with an extremely small dose that is rapidly increased. In the
build up phase dose escalations are typically conducted under a physician s supervision every 1 to
2 weeks, with daily home doses in between until the target maintenance dose is achieved. Studies
also differ markedly in both the maintenance dose and duration of treatment, with doses ranging
from 300 to 4000 mg and durations ranging from months to years.... Show more content on

Social Construction Of Gender And Masculinity
Throughout childhood children are exposed to many factors, which may influence their actions and
attitudes regarding the social construction of gender, specifically masculinity and femininity.
Children s attitudes are influenced by a variety of external sources, but are most strongly influenced
by their home life and parents. Parents are responsible for nurturing and teaching children about
multiple aspects in life, including gendernorms; this occurs both consciously and unconsciously.
One way parents pass on their beliefs about gender and gender norms are through the giving of
heteronormative toys. Toys children play with and are exposed to subtly and not so subtly teach
gender norms and mores that are accepted in society; furthermore, the association of color and toy
genre reinforce the social construction of gender and how males are supposed to exhibit masculinity
while females exhibit femininity.
Masculinity and femininity are social constructions based on the biological terms male and female,
respectively. Masculinity is often associated with the terms active, strong, dominant, and not
nurturing; whereas, femininity is often associated with the terms passive, weak, submissive, and
nurturing (Shaw Lee 123, 126, 131). In today s society, due to gender socialization, people generally
believe that men should display masculinity while women should display femininity; this social
belief is learned and initially taught to young children through heteronormative toys.

the QSA was a deal between the U.S. Department of the Interior, California, and various water

Improving Student Learning And Achievement
Many highly effective schools have changed their outlook on assessment and how they use
assessment. Highly effective schools have also helped the students become more accountable for
their learning. Making these two changes brought about a significant increase in student learning
and achievement. Using comprehensive assessments have brought about positive changes in
student learningthrough achieving assessment balance and quality and increasing teacher
involvement in the assessment process. Focusing on assessment for the annual state standardized
test drives the curriculum and instruction of too many schools.Teaching to the test to improve
student achievement puts true student learning and potential at risk. Shifting the focus from No
Child Left Behind (NCLB) and making adequate yearly progress (AYP) frees schools to do what
they were intended to do, educate future citizens. Accountability is a powerful tool when it is used
correctly and placed where it should be. Schools and teachers must be held accountable for student
learning, however, should the students also shoulder some of the responsibility as well? Highly
effective schools think so and have made the changes to do so.
Comprehensive Assessment
Comprehensive assessments provide evidence of student learning. There are three instrumental
ways to adapt instruction to improve student learning; challenging and meaningful assessment,
feedback and motivation (Vega, 2014). First, assessments should be challenging and

The Interlopers Short Story The Compare and Contrast of The Story of an Hour And The Interlopers In the two stories The Interlopers and The Story of an Hour, there are many similarities and many differences. With different authors, the plots hold very different themes, climax, and rising actions. Though the two stories are very different, there are some similarities when you look close enough. The Story of an Hour revolves around a woman named Louise Mallard who has heart trouble. When her sister Josephine breaks the news to her that her husband was a part of a lethal train accident, Louise does not take the news well and locks herself in her room. While in solitude, she looks out an open window. She sees trees, smells approaching rain, and hears a peddler yelling out what he s selling. She realizes with the death of her husband brought her a freedom. She could now live for herself. She opens the door and is met with her sister who helps her walk down the stairs. Once they almost make it down however, the door swings open and in walks her husband who was presumed to have died. Louise then has a fatal heart attack right then and there in surprise and joy at seeing her husband once again. In The Interlopers, its speaks of a generational loathing between two families. • 6. The Odyssey Essay In The Odyssey The Odyssey Essay Draft Dark and scary Odysseus and his men stuck in the cave fighting to save their lives by a big and large creature with the name Cyclops. In the epic poem, The Odyssey by Homer, It all started when Odysseus and his men wanted to take a rest after a long time floating on the water. Little did they know what they were getting themselves into. The large creature entered the cave, and man they were definitely in for a heck of a ride. Odysseus is brave and wise. Odysseus is Brave. For example, Odysseus heated up the stake getting ready to stab the Cyclops in the eye. To make a stake with pointed ends, this in the fires heart toughening it. (9. 231 232). This shows that Odysseus was brave because, he had the braveness and strength to heat up the stake and get ready to stab the Cyclops in the eye. This also shows that Odysseus is brave because the Cyclops is a very large and scary creature. Odysseus stayed strong and did what he had to do to get back to his home, ad return with him and his men safe. Odysseus is nothing comparable in size to the Cyclops. • 7. Analysis Of The Wild West Western Identity The Wild West, in American history, is often thought of as being an ideology filled with adventure and happy endings. This picture of the Wild West is largely in place due to the romanticizing of the West by Hollywood. Movies portraying the West are filled with stereotypes, whether they are purposeful or not, that do not accurately show what defines the Western persona. Stereotypical situations such as Indians being depicted as savages and noble sheriffs saving the day leave out certain facts that defined the Wild West. Many Indians were betrayed and slaughtered by American citizens in the Wild West, as shown throughout Dee Brown s novel, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee. In addition to hardship in mining, many Americans on the frontier experienced challenges in farming. At first it was difficult for Americans to grow crops in the West, but eventually technology of agriculture was able to give Americans the ability to grow crops more efficiently. Wild West was full of trials, and living in it was certainly not an easy task. It is impossible to write about hardship in the Wild West without talking about the hardship that Native Americans faced. The war on Indians by the United States government focused on relocating all Native Americans to reservations so that Americans could settle in more lands. For this reason, many Native Americans undoubtedly fought back against the United States government. This led to violence and the slaughtering of Indians for which the Wild West is known. One famous event concerning the Indian Wars was the Wounded Knee Massacre . Dee Brown described this event in her novel, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, saying that the United States 7th Cavalry Regiment opened up on them, firing almost a shell a second, raking the Indian camp, shredding the teepees with flying shrapnel, killing men, women, and children. • 8. Frederick Douglass, An American Slave Frederick Douglass is well known for many of his literary achievements. He is best known, now, as a writer. As a writer, Frederick Douglass shined. As a speaker, he was the best. There was no abolitionist, black or white, that was more for his speaking skills. (McFeely, 206) So impressive were Frederick Douglass s oratorical and intellectual abilities that opponents refused to believe that he had been a slave and alleged that he was a impostor brought up on the public by the abolitionists. In reply, Douglass wrote Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave (1845), which he revised in later years: in final form, it appeared in 1882 under the title Life and Times Of Frederick Douglass. (Graves, 52 ) Frederick s oratory skills left the largest impact on Civil War time period literature. Douglass s most significant autobiographical works include: Narrative Of The Life Of Frederick Douglass, An American Slave: My Bondage And My Freedom: and Life And Times Of Frederick Douglass. These three books are about the same person, and share a similar message, but are written by Frederick at different times of his life, looking at the past in different ways. • 20. The Entangled Political Economy Of Copyright The Entangled Political Economy of Copyright Colin Harris1 ABSTRACT: This paper uses the entangled political economy framework developed by Wagner (2014) to analyze the effects that copyright legislation has on content producers and pirate communities. I identify Digital Rights Management (DRM) technologies as part of the superfluous discovery process that results when politically enforced copyright legislation works to subsidize the cost of creating property rights in creative goods. I also analyze the effects that criminal sanctions against copyright infringement have on how pirate communities choose to self organize. I conclude with the claim that the entangled framework provides for better analysis than the tradition additive political economy framework because copyright does not work to control the outcome of the system and correct for the market failure associated with creative goods, rather it influences specific nodes in the entangled system in particular ways. Simone de Beauvoir defines the lived experience of women as one of otherness, and from this stems the oppression of women. De Beauvoir explains the lived experiences of women when she states that he is the Subject; he is the Absolute. She is the other. The man constitutes himself at the subject and the absolute, both descriptors place complete emphasis and importance on the man, the women are only relevant in their existence as the other. Since women are presently regulated to the category of the other, humanity is male, and man defines women, not in herself, but in relation to himself; she is not considered an autonomous being. Without a form of autonomy women have no basis for understanding themselves as women. If women must identify themselves through men, there is no way to escape a society in which men are the center of society and women are merely peripheral beings that conflate themselves to the wills and wishes of the more relevant man. Generally, creating new medications takes many years and cannot hope to keep up with viral diseases. One area of antiviral treatment involves finding enzymes that will selectively disintegrate the protein constructs of viruses or selectively cleave viral RNA. Previous Research: DNAzymes are made using a process called in vitro selection whereby a large group of random DNA strands are artificially selected for based on the ability to cleave RNA. The most studied DNAzyme is the 10 23. The name comes from the 10th round of in vitro selection and the 23rd round of cloning4. This is a 15 nucleotide sequence with proven enzymatic cleaving properties5. To target specific sites, RNA recognizing sequences called guide strands that are 7 nucleotides long are attached to this main catalytic strand on each side. The 10 23 DNAzyme does not require cofactors, but in some cases they have been shown to improve enzymatic activity6,7. The challenges facing the development of an antiretroviral drug for Ebola are varied. Effective cleavage sites need to be found in the genome that are conserved and are attackable based on the requirement for the 10 23 DNAzyme to cleave. Beyond these targeting barriers, the dosage of the DNAzyme may depend on the concentration of virions. Furthermore, certain cofactors may increase the effectiveness of the DNAzyme. There is has already been some research done in this area to answer these questions. DNAzymes have already been used exogenously to fight the flu, hepatitis C, and HIV in cultured animal cells8,9,10. These studies found orders of magnitudes of decrease in viral load upon treatment of cells with certain DNAzymes. There are multiple DNAzyme drugs in clinical trials and one drug is in use ... First person narration is one of the most common literatures we can find between these kind of stories. What Is The Final Chapter Of Nickel And Dimed The final chapter of Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenreich, Evaluation , states about low income families being almost invisible to the mid to high income families. This observation is valid because walking around places, Walmart, Kmart, etc., a person cannot distinguish what class the person is in. Poorer families are also rarely portrayed on television or other forms of entertainment, unless the show is about people getting arrested, since most people only find higher class, comfortable people interesting. Also, everything in society is unequal, a person can sit at a desk and order people around all day, without moving, and earn a salary of at least $60,000, while the individual or individuals who get stuck with all of his work, are getting paid around $25,000 a year. Yes, everyone starts out at a low on the totem pole job at a company and they work their way up the food chain to get to the job they want, but the lower class gets deemed lazy and or a high school dropout if they are seen waiting tables or working at a fast food place or retail store past the age of 25 30. Summary Of Attachment Theory Article Summary Anne Merrill and Tamara Afifi (2015) examine how attachment theory emotionally and cognitively interacts with various secret keeping instances (Merrill, Afifi, 2015, p. 259). Research has shown that secrecy has harmful affects such as, anxiety and stress (Merrill, Afifi, 2015, pp. 259 260). However the level to which these individuals ponder, or ruminate, about the secret varies from person to person (Merrill, Afifi, 2015, p. 259). Theoretically, these researchers utilize the preoccupation models of secrecy to explain why secrecy negatively affects a person s well being (Merrill, Afifi, 2015, p. 260). Research states, individuals in a romantic relationship are likely to experience cognitive tension due to thought suppression and intrusive thoughts (rumination), which continually repeat in efforts to maintain secrecy (Merrill, Afifi, 2015, pp. 260 261). Attachment theory states, those individuals who are securely attached (low anxiety and avoidance) are less likely to keep secrets from their partner because they are more trusting (Merrill, Afifi, 2015, 2015, p. 261). The definition of assisted suicide is very factual: suicide facilitated by another person, especially a physician, who organized the logistics of the suicide, as by providing the necessary quantities of a poison (The definition of assisted suicide2016). After much research I have learned that assisted suicide is an option one has to make depending on their moral standards, will to live, and how they want to die rather than a factual process one can follow. Assisted suicide is currently legal in five states: Oregon, Vermont, Washington, California and Montana (Physician Assisted Suicide Fast Facts 2016). Each state differs in the process toward obtaining physician assisted suicide approval, but all follow the generic rule that one must have the mental capability to communicate their own decisions regarding their terminal illness(How to Access and Use Deathwith Dignity Laws 2016). I question how one can truly make such a decision for themselves if they are in pain from their terminal illness. In California they have the rule that one must submit two oral requests, each fifteen days apart, and a written request to the attending physician (Physician Assisted Suicide Fast Facts 2016). Still Darry and the Soc walked slowly in a circle (Hinton, 143). The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton is a realistic fiction novel taking place in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1966. The story informs the reader of a rivalry between two gangs, the Socials (Socs) who are the rich people that have nice cars, clothes, and have a bright future ahead of them. The Socs live on the West side. The Greasers are the other gangwho weren t rich, weren t known to have bright futures and always had grease in their hair, hence the name Greasers. Throughout the story many themes have been applied to our society today. Two themes that I have chosen were that loyalty is a thread that holds people together and to not judge people based on how society labels them. Being loyal is to have a strong feeling of support or allegiance for someone or something. In The Outsiders, Ponyboy and all the other Greasers had to assist each other in order not to get pushed around by the Socs. An example of loyalty involves Ponyboy, Sodapop, and Darry, Since Mom and Dad were killed in an auto wreck, the three of us get to stay together only as long as we behave. So Soda and I stay out of trouble as much as we can (Hinton, 3). Protocols have varied considerably with regard to dosing and the type of food used. Most OIT protocols include an initial dose escalation, followed by a gradual dose build up and a prolonged maintenance phase (Keet and Wood,2014).
