Pancreatitis Research Paper
Pancreatitis is the inflammation of the pancreas. It s located in the stomach and its function is to
provide the body with hormones to aid in the digestion, regulating glucose. The triggers for this health
condition can be linked to heredity, lifestyle choices and injuries to the abdomen.
For some the pain is acute and short lived, but others experience overtime a continuous and severe
pain known as chronic pancreatitis. As the pain worsens it can be crippling resonating pain from the
backside more times than the front of the abdomen. And as a result of severe pain, there is a tendency

along with prescribed medicines.
Depending on the level of pain, prescribed medications can range from opiates, analgesics, steroids or

Persuasive Essay On Family Law Reform
Family Law constitutes management of domestic relationships in contemporary society were changing
social values evoke issues that legislative reform must try to rectify. These reforms enable recognition
of rights of family members in dealing with contemporary issues, such as changing nature of parental
responsibility, care and protection of children and same sex marriage. In the past, a traditional family
was the nuclear family unit, but in contemporary society it has become increasingly accepting of
alternate family relationships. This changing social perception has incited law reform to effectively
highlight contemporary issues in the media and lobby groups. Family law reform has been effective in
protecting the disadvantaged, or those who cannot act to preserve their own rights particularly
children. However, a major criticism of legislative reform is the recurring problem of time delays, and
ineffective adjustment to contemporary issues quickly. But, also if the law changes too quickly, it may
become poor law too broad or too narrow, contradictory and hard to enforce, thus non effective.
The concept of parental responsibility has changed from parents seeking custody and control over
children under Family Law Act 1975 (cth) , enforcing their parental rights. Its principle was criticised
over its lack of reflection of contemporary values and the changing compositions of family structures.
Therefore, legislative reform implemented the notion of equal shared

The Revolutionary Theory Of Class Struggle
Benjamin Guerrero

Progress through the Struggle
Karl Marx, chief characteristic was singleness of purpose, his idea of happiness was to fight and his
idea of misery was submission, his inspiration was the rebel slave leader Spartacus, who was a violent
gladiator fighting for his freedom. His favorite motto was that you must have doubts about everything
and lastly his favorite color was red. Many philosophers interpret the world, but the important thing is
to change it and Marx wanted to explain the conditions under which many citizens lived. Since The
Soviet Revolution from 1917, almost more than 30 countries have claimed to be inspired by Marx s
philosophy. The revolutionary theory of Class Struggle (PG 220, The Marx Engels reader) have
inspired a chain of revolutions throughout the world, but the Marxists states that have resulted, are not
what he advocated for. These new governments were violent, repressive, oppressive and autocratic.
One can find the promise of revolution hidden on his most famous and lengthiest work, his book
called Capital; A text that gave catalyst for the chain of ideas that have inspired a world movement.
The aim was not for the moral protest but to write a complex, far reaching, interconnected series of
books, articles and manifestos. Their aim was not at the moral protest at the evils of capitalism, but as
an explanatory analysis of how capitalism actually works, how it came about and how it

The Evaporation Race

The Evaporation Race
When it rains, puddles of water are often left behind, but it starts to disappear after just a few hours.
What is happening? This is called evaporation. Evaporation is a very common natural process that
occurs all around the world, where a liquid changes from a liquid state to a gaseous state. Evaporation
occurs when enough heat energy is absorbed by the molecules in a liquid state to the point where it
starts to vaporize. Do other liquids react in the same way? The answer is yes, but in this experiment, a
heat source will be used to evaporate different liquids. The results will show if certain liquids do, in
fact, evaporate faster or slower than others depending on their ingredients.
How do liquids change from a liquid to a gas phase? A liquid is a primary state of matter that has no
specific shape. According to chemwiki.ucdavis.edu, Liquids are more dense and less compressible
than gasses. Liquids have a definite volume, independent of the size and shape of their container. The
attractive forces are not strong enough, however, to keep neighboring molecules in a fixed position
and molecules are free to move past or slide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How is the dependent variable, evaporation rate, affected by different liquids? As said on
water.usgs.gov, Heat (energy) is necessary for evaporation to occurs. Energy is used to break the
bonds that hold water molecules together, which is why water easily evaporates at the boiling point
(212˚ F, 100˚C)... Water s boiling point is a known fact, but other liquids with lower boiling points
evaporate faster, and that is what will make the evaporation rate for each liquid vary. If energy is
added to a liquid, the molecules will react by vibrating faster and spreading apart, eventually changing
the liquid to a gaseous phase. With these facts in mind, one can resume with the topic of this

would be an indivudal sitting on the steps on the east side of Corbin. The reporting party gave a
description as an unknown male or female, with a black hoodie, and pants on. I arrived in the area at

the one who called and she said yes. I asked her where the suspicious person was and she pointed to

Summary Of Pamela Sandson s Heartbeat Braves
Pamela Sanderon s Heartbeat Braves addresses discrimination against Native Americans throughout
the novel. When a high ranking individual of the Office of Education at the facility that Rayanne
Larson and Henry Grant intend to use for one of their projects informs them that they cannot use the
cite and that they should leave the grounds immediately, Larson challenges him, asking, If we weren t
Indian would you ask us to leave? (Sanderson 68). It poses an interesting question, and one that forces
Sanderson s audience to reflect on how ethnicity dictates access to power. Later on in conversation,
Grant asks Larson, Has anyone ever said something trance to you about being Indian? (Sanderson
119), to which Larson replies, Some people are taken aback that I don t have an Indian name. What s
wrong with the name I have? No one ever says to an Italian, What s your Italian name? (Sanderson
119). Larson draws attention to a poignant disparity between the prejudices held against different
heritages.
In her piece, Savage Desires: The Gendered Construction of the American Indian in Popular Media ,
S. Elizabeth Bird discusses how, in contemporary popular culture, American Indians have become
potent cultural symbols, and more specifically, Indian men and Indian women have come to fill
separate and different places in the popular [Caucasian iconography (Bird 62). Sanderson, an urban
Indian of the Karuk Tribe, deviates from this convention through the dialogue she inputs

Therapeutic Effects And Healing Abilities Of The Drug That...
People tend to over exaggerate the harmful effect of marijuana, some say marijuana is wrong in many
ways, including brain damage, damage to the reproductive system, and weakening of the immune
system. In addition people say that marijuana is a gateway drug that leads the users to try much harder
drugs. This is not always the case all the time however. We now know significantly more about
cannabis than most substances we eat or pharmaceutical medications we intake. Based on my research
there are many therapeutic effects and healing abilities of the drug that help with disease and mental
illness. People have developed and used marijuana for all intents and purposes since the start of
written history. Cannabis based materials dating to 7,000 B.C.E. have been recuperated in northern
China, and the plant s utilization as a therapeutic and euphoric specialists go back about as far. The
physical, therapeutic, and psychoactive effects a person experiences after ingesting marijuana are
derived mostly from a family of unique chemicals in the plant known as cannabinoids. Of the dozens
of cannabinoids in marijuana, simply one which is THC, is basically psychoactive. Most strenuous
chemicals in the plant have great therapeutic properties but do not bring euphoria. Many compounds,
specifically the cannabinoid cannabidiol (CBD) offset the psychoactive properties of THC. In 2010,
researchers at Harvard Medical School advocated that that some of the drug s benefits may actually be

Task 3 Inequalities in Health and Illness (P3,M2,D1) Gender (P3) Mortality rates: In gender men
generally die earlier than women because of many aspects of their life, for instance in general women
tend to take care of them self more physically. A lot of women go on diets and a lot of exercise DVDs
and detunes are mainly aimed at women. Women in general do try to eat healthy and go on diets
whereas men usually aren t very aware of their diet and don t have much intention on improving it.
Women also tend to go to the doctors and seek medical advice more often and have their illnesses
diagnosed and treated more often than men. Because women generally take more care of themselves

like their breathing and cause repertory problems. Also working class may do jobs which affect their
bodies as lung and stomach cancer occur twice as often among men in manual jobs as among men in
professional jobs. Disease Incidence: More unskilled manual workers are dyeing due to things such as
lung and stomach cancer because of the environment they work in and the fumes they are breathing
can harm their lungs. More men and women die before retirement age in class 5 than class 1. More
class 5 people die on a whole because they may become ill and will not have what they need to help
the disease and their living conditions can worsen their condition. Disease prevalence: There will be a
higher amount of people in class 5 with illnesses than people in class 1 but certain illnesses may trend
in certain classes, for example obesity which is a growing problem in the UK is more common in
higher classes than lower classes, this could be due to money causing greediness. Class 1 have the
money to eat healthily but also can overindulge and spend money on food which they don t need.
Whereas in class 5 it might be a struggle to get enough food to keep you satisfied. Morbidity rates:

Analysis Of The Day The Music Died
Released in 1971! Even over 45 years later remains one of the most conversed and debated songs.
Boldly original and thematically ambitious, what set American Pie apart had a lot to do with the way
we weren t entirely sure what the song was about, provoking endless debates over its epic cast of
characters. His eight minute long rock and roll American dream became an anthem for an entire
generation who memorized every line.
Children grew up singing it fascinated by the mysterious lyrics with their cryptic references to 50s
innocence, the turbulent 60s, and 70s disillusion.
Who broke the church bells?
Who was the jester who sang for the king and queen?
And what really was revealed
the day the music died ?
When people ask Don McLean what does American Pie really mean, he likes to reply: It means I
never have to work again.
Passion for the song can be derived from the fact that there are fan websites entirely dedicated to
solving these mysteries.
But now at long last, the inspirations behind his Song of the Century are to be revealed after McLean
put his original manuscript up for auction. These 16 pages of handwritten notes, which have laid
hidden away in a box in his home for 43 years, were sold for $1.2m (£800,000) at Christie s in New
York, to an anonymous bidder.
Structure
The song can be divided into roughly 5 sections:
Prologue (verse 1) A look back from early 70 s and sets up platform for other verses;
Act I (verse 2) Establishes the 1950s as the reference

Examples Of Superheroes
Superheroes When I was 11 years old, I read comics on superheroes and enjoyed the way when they
would rescue people even when those people didn t know their heroes identities. I d always thought to
myself, What was the purpose of superheroes and what do they do? Then I later realized that
superheroes help save the world and people who are in need of help. These books and comics of
superheroes had changed both my perspective and definition of superheroes. Some superheroes are
just ordinary people, who are willing to perform helpful acts to others. Being a hero is about
performing helpful acts that help people without a desire of a reward, sacrificing their lives to save
others, and making positive changes in someone else s or your life. Heroes stand up for what s right by
performing services that helps people. People that perform good deeds are considered heroes. As a
matter of fact, according to the text, What Makes a Hero , First, it s performed in service to others in

People who most of the time sacrifice their life shows bravery, which is an important factor to being a
hero. For example, according to the article, What does a hero look like? Not what you think , A hero
can be brave and willing to sacrifice his or her own life, but I think we all have a hero in us someone
who is unselfish and without want of a reward, who is determined to help others (Gibson,

others in need, which shows that the hero is fearless. Not only that, but the hero would show that they
won t really care about themselves, but only fulfilling the needs of others rather than themselves.
Therefore, being a hero is showing fearlessness by sacrificing their own

Organics Vs Organic Food
The term organic has been highly overrated throughout recent years. Considered to be better for the
environment and for a person s health, organics are believed to be a better option when purchasing
food, when in reality they are just as good compared to regular food. Even so, organics have more
drawbacks rather than benefits. With organics high price, lack of nutritional value, and environmental
upset, it is no wonder why a majority of the population chooses to purchase regular food over
organics.
While organics may be healthier compared to regular food, the high price of organics is impractical
for members in the community. Money is a key factor for consumers when purchasing food and most
people do not want to give in to the high price tag when there are other options for a better deal. A
pound of beef for instance, costs $9.99 organically while a regular pound of beef only costs $6.49,
according to a 2015 consumer report. Based on the lower price tag, people are more prone to buy the
regular beef as they can gain a necessary source of protein yet sustain the budget they desire. . When
purchasing food, prices need to be considered as the views of the buyers can be changed if a product is
worth more than what they want to spend. Compared to organic food, it is more reasonable for people
to purchase regular food as the lower price tag allows them to buy larger quantities and varieties.
Additionally, organic foods disregard different social classes within the community.

One of those social customs is embodied in the kola nut. The kola nut is a sign of respect but can also
be use in for other reasons as well, whether it s festivals or guest. Nna ayi, he said. I have brought you

greatness. I have come to pay you my respects and also to ask a favor. But let us drink the wine first.
As a guest, Okonkwo owes traditional gifts and respectful sayings to his host. He goes through all the
proper motions to make himself a respectable guest by offering the kola nut, praying for the health of
the host s family, calling him our father, and declining to talk business until everyone has eaten their
fill. The Japanese practices of taking tea/tea rituals are often seen as standard, symbolic examples of
civilized behavior, we can draw a strong and direct connection from tea rituals to those of the kola nut.

Values Of Education
Values are virtues, ideals and qualities on which actions and beliefs are based. Values are guiding
principles that shape our world outlook, attitudes and conduct. (Dhunnoo. et al., n.d.). Human beings
have needs: physical and emotional. Some of these needs are catered at home while others at school or
religious institutions or the society itself. The school as an institution of education is responsible for
the cognitive and affective development of the learners. However in Mauritius, our primary school
curriculum has been focusing mainly on the cognitive domain since ages. Teaching is mostly done in a
traditional way; spoon feeding and rote learning since teachers are exam driven. They would teach
students in order to prepare them for the final exams at the end of the year, rather than for their whole

Holden s Attitude to Loss
The Catcher In The Rye Holden s Attitude To Loss And Goodbyes The theme of loss and goodbyes
recurs throughout The Catcher in the Rye and each occurrence reinforces Holden s negative attitude
towards change. The most vivid quote to gain insight into Holden s view on change and subsequently
loss (Byrne, Kalua and Scheepers 2012: 64) is in chapter 16 when Holden reflects back on his
childhood and his regular school visits to the Natural History Museum, Holden finds a great comfort
in the static and unchanging displays in the museum and in the continuity he finds in there, The best
thing, though, in that museum was that everything always stayed right where it was. Nobody d move.

This difficulty to accept the migration of the ducks is most likely due to Holden s inability to adapt to
and accept change and loss. We see this again in Chapter 16 Holden says after he reminisces about his
school trips to the Natural History Museum Certain things they should stay the way they are. You
ought to be able to stick them in one of those big glass cases and just leave them alone. (Salinger
1994:110) To understand Holden s natural affinity towards constancy and familiarity we need to look
at his reaction and praise of the kettle drummer in the Radio City pre show before the movie, we can
see that Holden admires the drummer for his precision and enthusiasm but mostly as he recognises
him as a constant in the Radio City orchestra since he was a child and Holden has memories attached
to watching his performance I ve watched that guy since I was about eight years old. My brother Allie

Beowulf As A Hero
A hero must do many things to be allowed the title of hero. However, there are some aspects a hero
should not show. If these characteristics are shown, they should not be considered a hero. One
attribute a hero should not display is selfishness. In the Knight s Tale, written by Geoffrey Chaucer,
Arcite and Palamon acted selfishly. They perceived a beautiful lady. They fought for the beautiful
lady. They died for the beautiful lady. Nevertheless, they acted selfishly during this gripping story. For
example, they fought for Emily, the beautiful lady, because neither could live without her.
Nonetheless, neither ambitious young man could bother themselves to question her on whether she
wished to marry either of these headstrong knights. She may not have desired to marry either of them.
Therefore, they acted selfish and do not live up to one requirement of a hero. On the contrary,
Beowulf, the main protagonist in the epic poem Beowulf written by an unknown source, did not act
selfishly. Throughout the poem, he risked his life to fight horrendous monsters to save the good people
living in the area. These actions define Beowulf as a hero. Contrarily, Sir Gawain, who starred in the
book Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, embarked on a dangerous journey. The Green Knight had
tasked him to find the Green Chapel. Before finding the chapel, the tired knight came across a castle
tucked away in the peaceful forest. When he asked to stay for a night, his host proposed a trade. The

Terrance Stanley Fox also known as Terry Fox was born on July 28, 1958 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. At
the young age of 18 years old, Terry was diagnosed with osteogenic sarcoma, what we know of as
bone cancer. Terry had no choice but to have his leg amputated 6 inches above his right knee. In the
hospital, Terry was surrounded by many fellow cancer patients which mainly consisted of young
children. Terry was so heartbroken about seeing the suffering of other patients he decided then that he
would run across Canada to raise money for future cancer research. Terry started his Marathon of

Hazel Grace Lancaster In The Fault In Our Stars By John Green
From the book, The Fault in Our Stars, by John Green, the main character, Hazel Grace Lancaster, is a
person to admire. Foremost, she is a person to admire since she is selfless and caring. First, Hazel is a
person to admire since she is selfless. For example, Hazel parents are excited by Hazel trip to
Amsterdam as they talk about it for dinner, but notice that Hazel is unusually quiet, and they confront
her about it. Hazel responds that she is like a grenade and that she ll someday explode so she ll like to
reduce any casualties. I m a grenade, I said again, I just want to stay from away people and read books
and think and be with you guys because there s nothing I can do about hurting you; you re too
invested, so just please let me ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Third, Hazel is a person to admire since she s humorous. Specifically, Hazel talks about her diagnosis
with Stage four thyroid cancer when she was thirteen. (I didn t tell him that the diagnosis came three
months after I got my first period. Like: Congratulations! You re a woman. Now die) (Green 24). This
shows Hazel is a person to admire since she is humorous because she jokes about the irony of her
becoming a woman to soon be basically diagnosed with character and most likely dying instead of
being depressed or self pitying. Lastly, Hazel is a person to admire since she is smart. In particular,
when first conversing with Augustus in the car, she mentions that due to her condition, she had to drop
out of from high school, and she can t go back since she already has taken her GED so now she taking
classes from the local community college. This shows that Hazel is a person to admire since she is
smart because although, she has dropped out of school, she was still able to take the quite tough test,
GED, in order to do so, and seems to be fine taking college level classes at her age of sixteen.
Therefore, Hazel is funny and smart, making her a person to admire. In conclusion, the main character
in The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, Hazel Grace Lancaster, is an admirable

Traditionalism In The Lottery, By Shirley Jackson
In The Lottery, written by Shirley Jackson, a seemingly average town meeting turns sinister. In the
beginning, the townspeople are gathering in the square of their village on a beautiful, clear and sunny
day, which later can be seen as ironic. The characters carry out normal small talk and discussion as
they wait for the traditional lottery to begin. At this point, most readers have no clue that an atrocious
event will soon be taking place. As the story moves forward, a strong sense of traditionalism ripples
throughout the pages and in the characters. The lucky winner of the town s annual lottery, to the reader
s shock and horror, receives stones being pelted at them until their untimely death. Jackson uses
symbols such as the setting and the black box to display the general theme of the short story and force
the reader to question traditions.
The setting is the story s first prominent symbol. The story occurs in an average, small village on a
warm, relaxing summer day. The current date is depicted as being clear and sunny, with the fresh
warmth of a full summer day; the flowers were blooming profusely and the grass was richly green.
This visual interpretation deceives the reader into an oblivious state of mind and adds to the belief that
the lottery s winner might receive money or an amazing prize like lotteries today. The small town vibe
and gorgeous sunny day symbolize the perfect example of what most Americans picture as an ideal
place to live. The later seen as shocking truth that the lottery is continually occurring in the same area
as most of the town s other annual celebrations like the Halloween program, teenage club, and the
square dances distinctly displays traditionalism. It is as if the townspeople painlessly empty their
conscience of such an appalling deed by easily having and planning such ebullient occasions in the
same place as the lottery. The characters actions and attitudes might set off a red light that something
might be amiss in the reader s mind, but creates only a slight thought of suspicion or concern.
Children are building rock piles, laughing, and playing. Men discuss weather, tractors, and taxes.

Analysis Of The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fist Fight In Heaven
Do you have issues with family members not being there for you? If so, you may be in a similar
situation as victor from The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fist Fight In Heaven by Sherman Alexie. Victor s
father leaves their home and the reservation while victor is still young age leaving him to live with his
mother on the reservation. In Native American cultures, storytelling has historically been used to
convey morals, an understanding of life and death, and roles in society. Using the fictional character
Victor, Alexie takes this tradition to a new audience in order documents his childhood struggles
separation and distance from family and how stories kept those who were absent with him.
Family members can cause great deals of emotion when there is a separation. Victor s father leaves
home without warning when victor is an adolescent. Even though there is still a meaningful bond
between victor and his father as seen in the following quote, Come on back inside, she said. it s cold.
No, I said. I know he s coming back tonight. (p, 35). By waiting for his father to come back Victor
shows that there is a abound between them and that he is struggling with his absence. Unfortunately,
his father did not return and Victor, while struggling with his father s abandonment, had to learn how
to be a man on his own. A family member permanently leaving while hard, is not the same as them
just not being there.
Sometimes family members are absent or distracted from the family. One instance of this is when
Victor s father buys a motorbike and disappears because he is using his bike so much. Victor s father
didn t do much of anything except ride that bike and listen to music. (P, 32). By only riding his bike
and listening to music he is leaving Victor to grow up on his own not having a proactive male role
model in the immediate family. This can be harmful to anyone growing up because the role they show
you is the role of being absent for the family. One positive is that it does give an example for you to
try not to become when growing up. Sometimes we have to remember those who are not in the family
as well.
Remembering the family members not with us anymore can be just as important as them being with us
actively. One

Essay On Defining Moments In Canadian History
Defining moments in Canadian History
During the 20th Century of Canada there have been numerous actions, decisions, and events that we
consider defining moments. Canada has been through many obstacles, battles, decisions and changes
that have changed the way we Canadians live today. The three most significant moments in the 20th
century of Canada are the invention of insulin for diabetes, Terry fox running across Canada to raise
money and awareness for cancer research, and the free trade agreement signed between the United
States and Canada. AII these events and decisions were significant for Canada and changed the way
we Canadians are today. One of the significant events that occurred in this decade was the invention of
insulin. Frederick ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Terry Fox is an important and famous figure in Canadian folklore, who instiIIed Canadian pride,

the year 2015 around 100,000 Canadian men will be diagnosed with cancer and 40,000 men will die
from cancer, 96,000 Canadian women will be diagnosed with cancer and 37,000 women will die from
cancer. On average 540 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer everyday (cancer.ca/en/cancer
statistics) On March 9, 1977, Terry Fox discovers he has a tumour in his right leg; the leg is amputated
above the knee. Terry Foxe begins training for his Marathon of Hope, a cross Canada run to raise
awareness and money for cancer research. (Canadianencyclopedia.ca 05/26/08 ) Terry Fox s marathon
took place in 1980 with the objective of informing all Canadians of the importance of finding a cure
for cancer, he ran an average of 42 kilometres every day for 145 days. Before Terry Fox died in 1981,
he raised $24.7 million (Canadianencyclopedia.ca 05/26/08) The Terry Fox Foundation, which now
organizes the annual run, has raised over $600 million for cancer research. People consider Terry Fox
a hero, in 1999 He was voted Canada s Greatest Hero in a survey.

Master Harold And The Boys Character Analysis
In Master Harold and the Boys, Hally s crippled father never appears on stage, instead, the closest
thing to him talking is through the telephone conversations. However, Hally s father still has a huge
impact on the play as his roles in the play include creating tension through the phone conversations
and his relationship with his son also brings about the bond between Hally and the servants. In
addition, he symbolizes the conflict of apartheid in South Africa back then.
One of Hally s father s role in the play is acting as a dramatic device. His telephone conversations
with Hally alters the mood and creates tension in the play. Before the telephone conversation
regarding his dad, the mood of nostalgia was in the air as Hally and Sam recalled the kite flying
memory. However, after Hally has a frustrating phone call regarding his father, the mood immediately
changes with Hally saying, (seething with irritation and frustration) Tell me something I don t know,
Sam. What the hell do you think I was saying to my Mom? (P.34) This quote is where Hally takes out
his anger and irritation by snapping at Sam, and in doing so, creating tension between the characters.
This comparison shows how Hally s dad can alter moods. In addition, the phone ... Show more content

Yet his role in Master Harold and the Boys is of extreme importance as Fugard utilises this character
as a dramatic device to lead to the climax. Hally s dad also conveys the rare bond developed between
Hally and the servants and the theme of Racism and Inequality through symbolism. This character is
the core of this play by serving as a device to let events unfold and also, he brings focus on
characterization as well as being a symbol. Therefore, without this character, this play would not be
complete and the readers would not have learnt the valuable lessons accompanying

Alexander The Caribou Is Drinking Out Of The Warm Arctic...
Alexander the caribou is drinking out of the warm arctic ocean with his friends; Owen, and Joshua. It
has been a relatively warm winter month with little snowfall so far this year, then all of a sudden, the
ice cracks separating Alexander from his friends slowly drifting away into the ocean. He attempts to
swim back, but does not make it. In 2002, the George River Caribou Herd (GRCH) population was
between 800,000 900,000 animals but by 2014 the population of caribou was decreased to 14,200
GRCH, in northern Canada. While at first it may appear that animal decline and animal population
loss in Canada/ the northern hemisphere, due to carbon emissions, is not as serious as it seems, but a
closer look reveals that carbon emissions from factories, cars, trains, etc. are a cause of global
warming and that the reduction of private transportation would be a quick efficient solution. By
forcing businesses to pay taxes and restrict the amount of carbon output and the general public to use
less private, and more public transportation, the Earth temperature raising would decline. As a result,
this solution would not only stop the destruction of the animal s; habitats, allowing the population
decline to stop, but also stop all the other effects of global warming, such as worse air qualities, higher
temperatures, and sea levels rising across the world. In Canada and the northern hemisphere of the
world the arctic is melting creating more water than there has ever been in this region of

My Day At School
On Thursday the fourth week of school, I woke up earlier than usual. I set my alarm to vibrate at 8:30
but I instead woke up at 8. Not caring how exhausted, I was from staying up late the night before to
complete an assignment, regretting procrastinating, I decided to start my day early. Being prudent, I
search the weather to figure out what to wear. I prepared myself for the day, setting my clothes on the
bed and placed my shoes out. I took my towel and shower caddy with all my shower essentials out and
hopped in the shower moments later. When I finished washing I put my clothes on and put a ponytail
in my hair. My class start at 9:30 am and I was ready at 9:10 am. Staying at Rosa Alexander Hall I
have to leave before 9:20 because Madison is a 10 minute walk.
Walking downstairs, greeting the RA that was at the front desk, I walked out the front door and into
beautiful weather. The sky was sapphire blue and the sun was shining so bright it might blind your
eyes if you look directly at it. This is the first good weather we had since the rain we have been having
for these few days. Walking to class, just pass the library, I see one of my friends and we decide to
walk with each other because our class is in the same building. Reaching the building my friend and
us go our separate ways, her staying on the first floor and me heading upstairs.
My first class is English 101 with Professor Camp. We went over the vocabulary words and learned
that we have a quiz on Tuesday. Then we went over one of Maya Angulo s stories to have an idea of
what our observation paper looks like. Mr. Camp ended class around 11:15 so I just walked downstairs
to my other class. I was so early that the class that uses the classroom before us was still there.
My teacher entered class looking like she was trying to put her life together. Gathering the materials
she will be needing for the lesson. She made a couple of announcements and went along teaching. The
class was long and dreadful. I wanted to bring my bed in class to fall asleep. It felt like she has been
talking forever until I checked the time and saw only 25 minutes passed I realized this was going to be
a long class. Class ended and I hurried out of class not wanting to stay any

My First Year Of Running Track
Seventh grade, a time of adolescence, an awkward period in which we start growing from a kid to a
young adult, in which the mature person hasn t kicked in yet. A period in time to try new things and it
was my first year of running track. One reason I decided to join was because I had a passion for sports
(mostly basketball), and my best friends convinced me join the team and if I didn t I would probably
be hanging out by myself after school. Three of my best friends consisted of Dekembae but we called
him DK for short, Minkyu, and Jay. Dekembae was mixed kid who had a single braid on his head
which would often be called a turd . Minkyu was Korean, and was often made fun of by the shape of
his head which was square, and Jay who was also Korean was so short he would often get confused
for a fourth grader. Then there was me an average height kid full of baby teeth, and full of jokes.
Dating back to a cloudy, and gloomy school day in middle school I started to feel very sick. It felt as if
someone was doing jumping jacks inside my stomach, and I had a headache the size of a grapefruit.
After school I gear up to go to track practice thinking I would take it easy, however my track coach
had a different plan in mind. He announces that we are going to be walking over to Crissy field to run
from the beginning to the end of the trail, and back. Being the naive kid I am, I feel as if I could make
it there and back, not knowing the run would be almost four and a half miles long ! The

  • 3. Persuasive Essay On Family Law Reform Family Law constitutes management of domestic relationships in contemporary society were changing social values evoke issues that legislative reform must try to rectify. These reforms enable recognition of rights of family members in dealing with contemporary issues, such as changing nature of parental responsibility, care and protection of children and same sex marriage. In the past, a traditional family was the nuclear family unit, but in contemporary society it has become increasingly accepting of alternate family relationships. This changing social perception has incited law reform to effectively highlight contemporary issues in the media and lobby groups. Family law reform has been effective in protecting the disadvantaged, or those who cannot act to preserve their own rights particularly children. However, a major criticism of legislative reform is the recurring problem of time delays, and ineffective adjustment to contemporary issues quickly. But, also if the law changes too quickly, it may become poor law too broad or too narrow, contradictory and hard to enforce, thus non effective. The concept of parental responsibility has changed from parents seeking custody and control over children under Family Law Act 1975 (cth) , enforcing their parental rights. Its principle was criticised over its lack of reflection of contemporary values and the changing compositions of family structures. Therefore, legislative reform implemented the notion of equal shared ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Revolutionary Theory Of Class Struggle Benjamin Guerrero Prof. Fatovic / POT 3054 December 7, 2015 Progress through the Struggle Karl Marx, chief characteristic was singleness of purpose, his idea of happiness was to fight and his idea of misery was submission, his inspiration was the rebel slave leader Spartacus, who was a violent gladiator fighting for his freedom. His favorite motto was that you must have doubts about everything and lastly his favorite color was red. Many philosophers interpret the world, but the important thing is to change it and Marx wanted to explain the conditions under which many citizens lived. Since The Soviet Revolution from 1917, almost more than 30 countries have claimed to be inspired by Marx s philosophy. The revolutionary theory of Class Struggle (PG 220, The Marx Engels reader) have inspired a chain of revolutions throughout the world, but the Marxists states that have resulted, are not what he advocated for. These new governments were violent, repressive, oppressive and autocratic. One can find the promise of revolution hidden on his most famous and lengthiest work, his book called Capital; A text that gave catalyst for the chain of ideas that have inspired a world movement. The aim was not for the moral protest but to write a complex, far reaching, interconnected series of books, articles and manifestos. Their aim was not at the moral protest at the evils of capitalism, but as an explanatory analysis of how capitalism actually works, how it came about and how it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Evaporation Race Leanna Lim Mrs. Stout P1 1/20/16 The Evaporation Race When it rains, puddles of water are often left behind, but it starts to disappear after just a few hours. What is happening? This is called evaporation. Evaporation is a very common natural process that occurs all around the world, where a liquid changes from a liquid state to a gaseous state. Evaporation occurs when enough heat energy is absorbed by the molecules in a liquid state to the point where it starts to vaporize. Do other liquids react in the same way? The answer is yes, but in this experiment, a heat source will be used to evaporate different liquids. The results will show if certain liquids do, in fact, evaporate faster or slower than others depending on their ingredients. How do liquids change from a liquid to a gas phase? A liquid is a primary state of matter that has no specific shape. According to chemwiki.ucdavis.edu, Liquids are more dense and less compressible than gasses. Liquids have a definite volume, independent of the size and shape of their container. The attractive forces are not strong enough, however, to keep neighboring molecules in a fixed position and molecules are free to move past or slide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How is the dependent variable, evaporation rate, affected by different liquids? As said on water.usgs.gov, Heat (energy) is necessary for evaporation to occurs. Energy is used to break the bonds that hold water molecules together, which is why water easily evaporates at the boiling point (212˚ F, 100˚C)... Water s boiling point is a known fact, but other liquids with lower boiling points evaporate faster, and that is what will make the evaporation rate for each liquid vary. If energy is added to a liquid, the molecules will react by vibrating faster and spreading apart, eventually changing the liquid to a gaseous phase. Later on in conversation, Grant asks Larson, Has anyone ever said something trance to you about being Indian? (Sanderson 119), to which Larson replies, Some people are taken aback that I don t have an Indian name. What s wrong with the name I have? No one ever says to an Italian, What s your Italian name? People tend to over exaggerate the harmful effect of marijuana, some say marijuana is wrong in many ways, including brain damage, damage to the reproductive system, and weakening of the immune system. In addition people say that marijuana is a gateway drug that leads the users to try much harder drugs. This is not always the case all the time however. We now know significantly more about cannabis than most substances we eat or pharmaceutical medications we intake. Based on my research there are many therapeutic effects and healing abilities of the drug that help with disease and mental illness. People have developed and used marijuana for all intents and purposes since the start of written history. Cannabis based materials dating to 7,000 B.C.E. have been recuperated in northern China, and the plant s utilization as a therapeutic and euphoric specialists go back about as far. The physical, therapeutic, and psychoactive effects a person experiences after ingesting marijuana are derived mostly from a family of unique chemicals in the plant known as cannabinoids. Of the dozens of cannabinoids in marijuana, simply one which is THC, is basically psychoactive. Most strenuous chemicals in the plant have great therapeutic properties but do not bring euphoria. • 11. Analysis Of The Day The Music Died Released in 1971! Even over 45 years later remains one of the most conversed and debated songs. Boldly original and thematically ambitious, what set American Pie apart had a lot to do with the way we weren t entirely sure what the song was about, provoking endless debates over its epic cast of characters. His eight minute long rock and roll American dream became an anthem for an entire generation who memorized every line. Children grew up singing it fascinated by the mysterious lyrics with their cryptic references to 50s innocence, the turbulent 60s, and 70s disillusion. Who broke the church bells? Who was the jester who sang for the king and queen? And what really was revealed the day the music died ? When people ask Don McLean what does American Pie really mean, he likes to reply: It means I never have to work again. Passion for the song can be derived from the fact that there are fan websites entirely dedicated to solving these mysteries. But now at long last, the inspirations behind his Song of the Century are to be revealed after McLean put his original manuscript up for auction. These 16 pages of handwritten notes, which have laid hidden away in a box in his home for 43 years, were sold for $1.2m (£800,000) at Christie s in New York, to an anonymous bidder. Structure The song can be divided into roughly 5 sections: Prologue (verse 1) A look back from early 70 s and sets up platform for other verses; Act I (verse 2) Establishes the 1950s as the reference ... • 12. Examples Of Superheroes Superheroes When I was 11 years old, I read comics on superheroes and enjoyed the way when they would rescue people even when those people didn t know their heroes identities. I d always thought to myself, What was the purpose of superheroes and what do they do? Then I later realized that superheroes help save the world and people who are in need of help. These books and comics of superheroes had changed both my perspective and definition of superheroes. Some superheroes are just ordinary people, who are willing to perform helpful acts to others. Being a hero is about performing helpful acts that help people without a desire of a reward, sacrificing their lives to save others, and making positive changes in someone else s or your life. Heroes stand up for what s right by performing services that helps people. People that perform good deeds are considered heroes. • 13. Organics Vs Organic Food The term organic has been highly overrated throughout recent years. Considered to be better for the environment and for a person s health, organics are believed to be a better option when purchasing food, when in reality they are just as good compared to regular food. Even so, organics have more drawbacks rather than benefits. With organics high price, lack of nutritional value, and environmental upset, it is no wonder why a majority of the population chooses to purchase regular food over organics. While organics may be healthier compared to regular food, the high price of organics is impractical for members in the community. Money is a key factor for consumers when purchasing food and most people do not want to give in to the high price tag when there are other options for a better deal. A pound of beef for instance, costs $9.99 organically while a regular pound of beef only costs $6.49, according to a 2015 consumer report. Based on the lower price tag, people are more prone to buy the regular beef as they can gain a necessary source of protein yet sustain the budget they desire. . When purchasing food, prices need to be considered as the views of the buyers can be changed if a product is worth more than what they want to spend. Compared to organic food, it is more reasonable for people to purchase regular food as the lower price tag allows them to buy larger quantities and varieties. Additionally, organic foods disregard different social classes within the community. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Dhunnoo. et al., n.d.). Human beings have needs: physical and emotional. Some of these needs are catered at home while others at school or religious institutions or the society itself. The school as an institution of education is responsible for the cognitive and affective development of the learners. However in Mauritius, our primary school curriculum has been focusing mainly on the cognitive domain since ages. For instance, I find that greeting family members, friends and neighbours upon meeting them is something good while misbehaving with these people is something that is considered bad . Wearing seat belts during driving is considered right because we are adhering to the traffic laws. Holden s Attitude to Loss The Catcher In The Rye Holden s Attitude To Loss And Goodbyes The theme of loss and goodbyes recurs throughout The Catcher in the Rye and each occurrence reinforces Holden s negative attitude towards change. The most vivid quote to gain insight into Holden s view on change and subsequently loss (Byrne, Kalua and Scheepers 2012: 64) is in chapter 16 when Holden reflects back on his childhood and his regular school visits to the Natural History Museum, Holden finds a great comfort in the static and unchanging displays in the museum and in the continuity he finds in there, The best thing, though, in that museum was that everything always stayed right where it was. You ought to be able to stick them in one of those big glass cases and just leave them alone. • 22. Beowulf As A Hero A hero must do many things to be allowed the title of hero. However, there are some aspects a hero should not show. If these characteristics are shown, they should not be considered a hero. One attribute a hero should not display is selfishness. In the Knight s Tale, written by Geoffrey Chaucer, Arcite and Palamon acted selfishly. They perceived a beautiful lady. They fought for the beautiful lady. They died for the beautiful lady. Nevertheless, they acted selfishly during this gripping story. For example, they fought for Emily, the beautiful lady, because neither could live without her. Nonetheless, neither ambitious young man could bother themselves to question her on whether she wished to marry either of these headstrong knights. She may not have desired to marry either of them. Therefore, they acted selfish and do not live up to one requirement of a hero. On the contrary, Beowulf, the main protagonist in the epic poem Beowulf written by an unknown source, did not act selfishly. Throughout the poem, he risked his life to fight horrendous monsters to save the good people living in the area. These actions define Beowulf as a hero. Contrarily, Sir Gawain, who starred in the book Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, embarked on a dangerous journey. The Green Knight had tasked him to find the Green Chapel. Before finding the chapel, the tired knight came across a castle tucked away in the peaceful forest. When he asked to stay for a night, his host proposed a trade. The host would ... • 26. Traditionalism In The Lottery, By Shirley Jackson In The Lottery, written by Shirley Jackson, a seemingly average town meeting turns sinister. In the beginning, the townspeople are gathering in the square of their village on a beautiful, clear and sunny day, which later can be seen as ironic. The characters carry out normal small talk and discussion as they wait for the traditional lottery to begin. At this point, most readers have no clue that an atrocious event will soon be taking place. As the story moves forward, a strong sense of traditionalism ripples throughout the pages and in the characters. The lucky winner of the town s annual lottery, to the reader s shock and horror, receives stones being pelted at them until their untimely death. Jackson uses symbols such as the setting and the black box to display the general theme of the short story and force the reader to question traditions. The setting is the story s first prominent symbol. The story occurs in an average, small village on a warm, relaxing summer day. The current date is depicted as being clear and sunny, with the fresh warmth of a full summer day; the flowers were blooming profusely and the grass was richly green. This visual interpretation deceives the reader into an oblivious state of mind and adds to the belief that the lottery s winner might receive money or an amazing prize like lotteries today. The small town vibe and gorgeous sunny day symbolize the perfect example of what most Americans picture as an ideal place to live. The later seen as shocking truth that the lottery is continually occurring in the same area as most of the town s other annual celebrations like the Halloween program, teenage club, and the square dances distinctly displays traditionalism. It is as if the townspeople painlessly empty their conscience of such an appalling deed by easily having and planning such ebullient occasions in the same place as the lottery. The characters actions and attitudes might set off a red light that something might be amiss in the reader s mind, but creates only a slight thought of suspicion or concern. Children are building rock piles, laughing, and playing. Men discuss weather, tractors, and taxes. Women gossip back and forth to one another, discussing the issues of other ... • 27. Analysis Of The Lone Ranger And Tonto Fist Fight In Heaven Do you have issues with family members not being there for you? If so, you may be in a similar situation as victor from The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fist Fight In Heaven by Sherman Alexie. Victor s father leaves their home and the reservation while victor is still young age leaving him to live with his mother on the reservation. In Native American cultures, storytelling has historically been used to convey morals, an understanding of life and death, and roles in society. Using the fictional character Victor, Alexie takes this tradition to a new audience in order documents his childhood struggles separation and distance from family and how stories kept those who were absent with him. Family members can cause great deals of emotion when there is a separation. Victor s father leaves home without warning when victor is an adolescent. Even though there is still a meaningful bond between victor and his father as seen in the following quote, Come on back inside, she said. it s cold. No, I said. I know he s coming back tonight. (p, 35). By waiting for his father to come back Victor shows that there is a abound between them and that he is struggling with his absence. Unfortunately, his father did not return and Victor, while struggling with his father s abandonment, had to learn how to be a man on his own. A family member permanently leaving while hard, is not the same as them just not being there. Sometimes family members are absent or distracted from the family. One instance of this is when Victor s father buys a motorbike and disappears because he is using his bike so much. Victor s father didn t do much of anything except ride that bike and listen to music. (P, 32). By only riding his bike and listening to music he is leaving Victor to grow up on his own not having a proactive male role model in the immediate family. This can be harmful to anyone growing up because the role they show you is the role of being absent for the family. One positive is that it does give an example for you to try not to become when growing up. Sometimes we have to remember those who are not in the family as well. Remembering the family members not with us anymore can be just as important as them being with us actively. One ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It has been a relatively warm winter month with little snowfall so far this year, then all of a sudden, the ice cracks separating Alexander from his friends slowly drifting away into the ocean. He attempts to swim back, but does not make it. In 2002, the George River Caribou Herd (GRCH) population was between 800,000 900,000 animals but by 2014 the population of caribou was decreased to 14,200 GRCH, in northern Canada. While at first it may appear that animal decline and animal population loss in Canada/ the northern hemisphere, due to carbon emissions, is not as serious as it seems, but a closer look reveals that carbon emissions from factories, cars, trains, etc. are a cause of global warming and that the reduction of private transportation would be a quick efficient solution. By forcing businesses to pay taxes and restrict the amount of carbon output and the general public to use less private, and more public transportation, the Earth temperature raising would decline. As a result, this solution would not only stop the destruction of the animal s; habitats, allowing the population decline to stop, but also stop all the other effects of global warming, such as worse air qualities, higher temperatures, and sea levels rising across the world.
