Questions On Legal Mobilization And Oral And Anal
Kellie McClure Sociology 323 Final Exam Part 1 (Short answers/terms): 1.Sodomy is any sex
that is non procreative. This means that it is both oral and anal. It applies to everyone, gays,
lesbians, and heterosexuals. It is significant to the context of the course because there were
sodomy laws and Bowers v. Hardwick was a case that changed the way we talk about things of
this nature. 2.Social closure is when there are boundaries created in order to define who is
allowed in a profession. This is important to our class discussion because it helps show why there
is differences in who is in the profession. This means that women, minorities, and blacks are all
given boundaries of how they can enter the law profession. 3.Legal mobilization means that
different advocacy groups and organizations with a cause are using the law and litigation in
order to create social change. This is important because it shows the different ways in which we
enact social change. Law can be used to make a difference in our laws instead of just being to
handle a dispute or criminal case. 5.The Access to Justice Gap means that there are more people
who are eligible for legal assistance but there are not enough lawyers to accept their cases. This is
a growing inequality. This is relevant because is shows the inequality within the system. There are
cases that possibly should go to court but without legal assistance especially to those who cannot
afford it, there is no possible way for them to

Growing Up In The Catholic Church
Growing up in San Francisco, religion wasn t a part of my life, or majority of people s lives.
Only one of my friends grew up religious and even then it never defined her. Moving across the
country and into a southern college town, I ve discovered what it really means to be religious and
how devoted people are to their beliefs. I ve always been interested in religions that seem foreign
to me like Buddhism or Hinduism. However, I decided to devote my time in learning about
Catholicism. Catholicism began when Jesus lived, died, and resurrected. The Catholic Churchwas
established and built by the twelve apostles. In the first three hundred years of Christianity,
Christians were extremely persecuted in the Roman Empire. They were one of the... Show more

Thomas More. It was a very peaceful morning and the church had a very stress free environment.
The priest spoke with a very soothing and calm voice. In Christians in the American Empire,
Vincent D. Rougeau stated that Catholicism sees the human person as formed in the image and
likeness of God the imago Dei and at the same time views the person as inherently social, create
to live in community with others, and flourishing only in that context . One of the most important
ideals of the Catholic Church is social teaching. Their goal is to create a more just and holy
society even among modern issues. Something that really fascinated me was the way the priest
was able to relate social problems of modern world to the readings from the Old and New
Testaments. The Church proclaimed, Any kind of social or cultural discrimination in basic personal
rights on the grounds of sex, race, color, social conditions, language, or religion must be curbed and
eradicated as incompatible with God s design . Just from going to one Catholic service my
preconceived mindset of Catholics and their beliefs was changed. Being able to pray for everyone
in the world with no prejudices is a very honorable thing that they do and I am please to have

Alexander Biography
Alexander was born on July 20, 356 B.C. in Pella Macedonia. His father was King Philip II and
Queen Olympia. Alexander was raised in the royal court of Pella. He was a dark eyed curly
haired kid. He hardly got to see his father because of military campaigns and marital affairs.
Although Alexander grew up hating the fact that he never got to see his father, he was very grateful
for his mother. She was a good influence on him and loved him dearly. Alexander received an
education learning math, horsemanship, and archery. Alexander was a very rebellious and restless
teenage boy. By 343 B.C, his dad hired Aristotle, a philosopher, to teach Alexander in Meiza.
Aristotle taught Alexander philosophy, poetry, drama, science, and politics. He completed... Show

He conquered it and had it destroyed. He was then ready to launch a campaign that his father had
originally planned against the Persian Empire. Despite the ups and downs Alexander faced at
war, he was successful in defeating Persia. He won against an army of 20,000 Persian horsemen
and an equal amount of foot soldiers. After that, he headed down the coast of Turkey,
overthrowing cities and trying to take the Persian navy of bases. The second, and probably most
important, battle that Alexander won was the Battle of Issus. The Battle of Issus was in 333
B.C near ancient town Issus, Turkey. This battle was against approximately 600,000 soldiers,
with Darius III as their leader. There were many misunderstandings, ransoms, and deals that
were made in this battle. King Alexander was still successful in his goal of defeat. Next was
Egypt. Alexander easily defeated Egypt, who fell with barely putting up a fight. Shortly after
this, he created the city of Alexandria designed as a hub for Greek culture and commerce. Later,
after the complete collapse of the Persian army, King Alexander became known as, King of
Babylon, King of Asia, and King of the Four Quarters of the World. Alexander the Great
conquered numerous countries and was a powerful and feared man. He died in 323 B.C. in
Babylon, due to malaria. He was only 32 years old and didn t even live to see the birth of his

International and Global Marketing
Introduction:
Introducing a new product or service into a foreign market is a significant business achievement.
As a matter of fact, there are a few things that companies have to face when it comes to
globalization. This essay will deal with luxury products, and more particularly with high end
jewellery from the French brand Cartier. These products will be launched within the Chinese
market, as it is close to become the largest luxury market in the world. In order to make this
project as successful as possible, this essay will be divided into two parts. On the one hand, we will
be analysing the marketing environment of the Chinese market by identifying major market
opportunities. Also, the selection of a suitable target market for ... Show more content on

Thus, many Chinese parents have a desire to protect their children from the suffering they
encountered . They see their child as a second chance to live a happiness which they themselves
had not experienced (Croll, 1985). Nowadays, these only children came to adopt the nickname
Little Emperors because of the large portion of time and money their parents devote to them.
Families provide their children with a first world lifestyle and spend a lot of money in luxury
products; they need to have the best things to succeed. Young Chinese consumers are then seen as
a big opportunity for many global marketers. The one child policy created a large middle class
with a large amount of disposable income that would never have been possible to obtain if these
couples had bore multiple children.
Booming / Expanding market Great demand for luxury goods. Many marketers look at China as
their favourite bright spot and this is particularly true for luxury brands. By 2015, China will be
home to the world s fourth largest population of wealthy households and will become the world
largest market for high end goods. Like Japan 20 years ago, the people in China are exposed to a
massive amount of high end goods and services through the Internet, by overseas travel, and from
first hand experience. Chinese luxury good buyers interest started with Gucci handbags, fashion,

Strong Music Education
Three fifths of the United States have made cuts to their music programs. Studies have shown that
schools with good music education programs help students perform better on standardized tests.
Many famous businessmen and woman also attribute their success to their musical background.
Therefore schools should have strong musiceducationprograms so their students develop necessary
skills for their careers, communicate better with others, and score higher on tests.
First things first, the study of music develops necessary skills in the future of children s careers.
Many celebrities and accomplished entrepreneurs have stated that their music education has
helped them develop useful skills for their career. Joanne Lipman quotes Chuck Todd in her
article Is Music the Key to Success? , he says, I ve always believed the reason I ve gotten ahead is
by outworking other people . Todd has realized that practicing his french horn ... Show more content

In the opinion of many it takes away from valuable time in other subjects. This is incorrect. When
children gain music education they are able to become proficient in their classes. So the time out of
class isn t making students less smart, it makes them more smart. Developing skills like endurance,
creative thinking, and collaboration also come with music. There are many benefits to instructing
children in music, so cutting the program would damage learning.
All things considered, it doesn t make sense why states would cut the music programs of their
schools. When students receive education they continue to grow and progress academically; in a
like manner it is the same with music education. They are also being prepared to live in the real
world by learning how to work at something until it s perfect and think of new solutions to
problems. Therefore, schools should have strong music programs to help their students be

Why Is Santa Clause Wrong
Santa Claus is an imaginary being, based off of the story of Saint Nicholas. Often we teach
children myths, legends and fairytales to portray a theme to them on a level that they can
understand, or sometimes we pretend something for fun, such as a doll being a child s baby but
both we and the child know that the doll is fake and not a real baby. Despite this, I believe
teaching kids that an old man drops down the chimney each year to give them gifts is wrong.
Firstly, because it sets a precedent in the child parent relation that some lies are OK, or even good
, and this can have a bad effect on their understanding of honesty, parents should always be
communicating truthfully to their child. My main reason is that if we give presents to our children
to show our love, how can we propel this idea through a lie? Why not give them the presents
ourselves? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We show our love to others through presents, an age old tradition stemming from the giftgiving
magi, and jolly old saint Nick. Obviously we always have other ways to show love throughout the
year, but Christmas is a special time for this. We give people specific gifts that they want or that
we know they will enjoy, this can represent the care and consideration that we take for them. If we
use Santa Claus as a middleman, how is this teaching children the gift of giving ? Or that we take
time to think of them, and what they enjoy? It also takes away the significance or personal feeling
attached to the present, like with an expensive gift, or family heirloom. If christmas is about love,
family and friendship, why do we use an imaginary stranger as an

issue that could have potentially been life changing, so not so small. Children, especially
babies, shouldn t eat jelly beans for choking hazard reasons. And I learned that at five years old

so loud you would have thought he was injured. Being the huge help I tried to be, I went to rock

Still, no progress. With her mind fogged with worry common sense took the back burner and

Explore How Shakespeare Examines the Themes If Jealousy...
Explore how Shakespeare examines the themes if jealousy and deception in Othello the play and
Othello the character. Sana Thomas
Jealousy and Deception are both continuous themes running through out Shakespeare s Othello.
Indeed, it is jealousy that provides the fuel for the plot and deception that leads to the classic
downfall of the hero as is common in Shakespeare tragedies. However, it is a theme of hate that
the play opens. It is a hate of inveterate anger. It is a hate that is bound up with envy hanging on a
strained thread waiting to snap. In The Tragedy of Othello, William Shakespeare tells the tale of the
noble Moor whose honour and innocence bring about his downfall. Shakespeare writes of the
power of jealousy, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The play opens in the middle of an argument. The deception begins when he blatantly lies to
Brabantio, telling him that Othello has bewitched his daughter into marrying him: an old black
ram Is tupping your white ewe (1.1.89) . The language Iago uses to address Brabantio here is
vulgar and discourteous. The fact that he takes no heed that Brabantio is of a higher status than him
is intended to provoke and aggravate him, so that he will impart his rage when confronting Othello.
This confirms the audience s suspicion of Iago being cold, conniving and calculated.
As part of the audience, I believe that the handkerchief introduced in Act 3 symbolizes deceit for
which it is used. It is this handkerchief Othello had given Desdemona as a wedding present and a
token of the couple s eternal fidelity that acts as a catalyst to the unpleasant and poignant changes
in the play: the napkin is too little (3.3.287) . Othello demands ocular proof (3.3.360) from Iago
that his wife Desdemona was committing adultery with Cassio: Villain, be sure to prove my love a
whore (3.3.360) , Does Othello s insistence on proof suggest that this jealous husband is a nobler
man?
Iago must only deceive Othello by telling him that the handkerchief he so lovingly gave his wife
is not in his wife s possession but in Cassio s: a hankerchief/did I see Cassio wipe his beard with
(3.3.440). The fact that she lost it inadvertently and was unable to produce it when Othello
demanded her to fetch

Enlightened Mentality Essay
When speaking about the generalization of Enlightenment, some may think back to the dated
history of 17th and 18th century and the intellectual movement in Europe. Although it was
specifically about the emphasis on rationality and focusing on learning and cultivating moral worth
within an individual, in the 21st century, the act of being enlightened can be taught and referred to
varying aspects. Specifically, there are ways in depth to achieve the enlightened mentality to
improve mental health and well being. Since there are many ways to achieve, some may be sought
out more than others such as with time and meditation, through psychedelic drugs that have
psychological effects, or by dreamconsciousness and logic, which can be comprehended within the
study of dreaming.
By pre enlightened mentality, it is to be clarified that it only has the means to describe one as not
enlightened, perhaps it could be easier to refer this term as Buddist Enlightenment or lack thereof.
Meditation is often a go to habitual practice that you can achieve mental goals to become
enlightened through time and patience. One example in contrast that would not help in the act of
meditation is having your mind cluttered with thoughts that pay no attention to the quality of
mental health and this may have to do with having an ego as well, always ... Show more content on

Political Socialization Paper
Political socialization the process in which people create and form new ideas that are mainly

them with friends, family members, professors, and as well as in classes. I personally found that

Compare And Contrast My Last Duchess And Porphyria s Lover
Robert Browning (7 May 1812 12 December 1889) was an English poet and scriptwriter whose
mastery of the dramatic monologue made him one of the most prominent Victorian poets. Within
his collection were two of his most renowned works,
My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover . In My Last Duchess the speaker is an
Italian Duke who is speaking to the ambassador about his daughter, who he intends to marry. The
Duke then begins to flaunt his gallery of art with the intent to impress. He then comes across the
painting of his last duchess in which openly speaks about having her murdered for lack of respect
for him. Porphyria s Lover is a dramatic monologue that describes the events that eventually lead
to the death of Porphyria. The speaker lives in a cottage in the countryside. His lover, a gorgeous
young woman named Porphyria, comes in out of a storm and attempts to bring cheer to the
cottage. She caresses the speaker, offering him her bare shoulder. Realizing that she will eventually
give in to society s pressures, and wanting to conserve the moment, he wraps her hair around her
neck and strangles her. He then adjusts her corpse, opening the eyes and propping the body up
against his side. He sits with her body this way the entire night, the speaker declaring that God has
not yet punished him. Although these two poems share many similarities, the differences can be
discovered through the analysis of the language, themes, and the feelings the reader experiences
while reading these poems. As a result of these poems being published in a collection, the structure
of the two poems shares many attributes. Although the rhyme scheme is different to add a unique
feel to the poem, they both consist of 1 long stanza. Doing this, Browning added a sense of
suspense to each poem by having the reader continuously read without any real transitions.
Rhyming couplets show control and the rhyme scheme in My Last Duchess, is rhyming couplets the
whole way through, which shows that the Duke evidently had controlled the whole poem. In
Porphyria s Lover, there are only rhyming couplets in the end, as he kills her, this is the only time
in the whole poem where he has control. Both poems contain a multitude of caesuras within

The pathos that Mock uses also leads to imagery because she is showing the audience how
people today view Christmas as a season with Frosty the snowman and Rudolph instead of it
being viewed as the birth of Christ. As Mock explains that the supreme court decided that the
government could place Christian symbols on buildings for holiday purposes she uses irony to
point out her views on this. Mock wonders, why such government displays are necessary asks do
Christians really need baby Jesus on the courthouse steps to remind them of his birth? This is irony
because she is informing the audience of why it is necessary for Christianity symbols to be
displayed everywhere when Christians should already be celebrating the birth of Jesus and talk
about it among their family. Irony is used to inform the audience that the state and church should be
separated because there is no point in the government wasting money to show that they support the
Christmas season. Overall Mock purpose is to persuade the audience that Christian symbols should
not be placed on government

Winter Descriptive Writing
It was a flurry and cold winter day, the kind of day when every breath stings the lungs and every
exhale chills the lips. Living in Iowa, I was used to the frigid winter, but this unsuspecting day
would forever change Emily Kriz. My mother and I had just entered the frosted glass doors at
our local Michaels after having the usual tedious chat about keeping your hands to yourself and
looking with our eyes, not our hands. I acted as though I was listening, adding in subtle head nods
as I watched each individual snowflake fall crisply onto the ground, as if each had a strict road
map to a anticipated location. Upon entering, we saw a winterwonderland. The fragrance of frosted
pine wafted through the nipping air that had snuck in from the outdoors and tingled my petite
fingers and toes. With every blink of the eyethere was something newfangled and wondrous to

stunning decorations on display, but with every piece of pristine decor in is precise spot. We

the isles when I saw it, a display of candles that drew my eyes in like no other. My mom had

Operation Market Garden Research Paper
The operation started around dawn on the 17th of September, 1944. German forces continued
receiving regular air strikes by allied forces near Eindhoven, Deelen, Ede, and airfields in
Holland. Paratroopers of the airborne assault boarded their planes and began travel to their drop
sites. The operation used over two thousand aircraft, between troop carriers and assault aircraft, to
get the paratroopers close enough to assault into their objectives. By approximately 1400 hours
local time on the 17th, an estimate of 20,000 troops landed in vicinity of their planned drop zones.
Additionally, this was the first successful airborne operation for dropping artillery into battle. The
three assault forces began their movement onto their objectives by evening of the 17th, finding
little resistance until they approached Eindhoven. Upon arrival at some of the locations to secure,
it was identified the Germans blew up the bridges before allied forces could reach their

BMS 191011 is a maxi K channel opener [1]. Maxi K channels consist of a pore forming О±

This effect was associated with bursts of bAPs (100 Hz) recorded from Fmr1в€’/y dendrites
without affecting those recorded from wild type dendrites. This treatment decreased dendritic

Renaissance Humanism Essay
Many diverse ideas flourished during the European Renaissance which had a lasting impact on the
world. Humanism is a worldview and a moral philosophy that considers humans to be of primary
importance. The aspect of humanism first thrived in 14th century Italy, and later spread north in the
15th century. Initially humanistic ideas about education were quickly adopted by the Italian upper
class. The Italian ideas and attitudes towards life and learning impacted nobility in other parts of
Europe. They were able to accept and adapt to this new lifestyle. Humanismduring the Renaissance
helped to spread ideas about the basic nature of humanbeings, how people should be educated to
become well rounded individuals, and how education impacts an... Show more content on

Humanism allowed people to realize that everyone s mind and thoughts were endless; the only
constraint being the imagination. During the Renaissance the aspect of a human s education was
equally important in the creation of well rounded individuals.
The philosophy of humanism exerted a new viewpoint on the educational system. The idea that true
happiness is the result of eternal salvation was introduced by humanist teachers. The Italian poet
Petrarch, delighted in studying the works of Cicero, explained that when we come to think or speak
of religion, that it, of supreme truth and true happiness, and of eternal salvation, then I am certainly
not a Ciceronian... but a Christian (doc.5). Education was important in the creation of well rounded
individuals, but humanists believed that religion is the key to true happiness. In addition to their
beliefs about the effects of religion on society, humanists promoted the study of language and
literature to develop strong social skills. This ultimately broadened every aspect of Renaissance
society. Establishing social skills can reward a person with ... the personal satisfaction he will take
in this, in this way he will never want for pleasant entertainment with the ladies who are usually
fond of such things (doc.4). Although social transformation

Analysis Of Mother To Son By Langston Hughes
Processing Fear F E A R has two meanings: Forget Everything And Run or Face Everything And
Rise. The choice is yours. Zig Ziglar. How do we as humans face the emotion we call fear? Do
we let it s terrifying surface consume us and hold us back from partaking in something we wish to
do, or do we let it fuel us, empower us, into doing something that we never thought we could? Do
you hold yourself back and hide from that fearand hope it goes away just like the monsters under
your bed, or do you take control, and fight? Maya Angeloutalks about locking yourself up in a
cage full of your fears and doubts and trying to escape and become free of your struggles. In
Langston Hughespoem, Mother to Son, Hughes talks about how a son is struggling to go
through life and he wants to give up because of his fears and doubts, but his mother is trying to
persuade him into sticking with it and continue living life. Finally, Robert Frost discusses how
your fears shouldn t hold you back from continuing life and choosing a path to go on. Everyone
has to face their fears at some point, it just depends on the person if they choose to fight it or not.
Whether you re grabbing the bull by the horns, or you re closing the gate. You re looking your fear
right in the face.
Imagine you re in the cage, suffocating in your own doubts. You want to break down those
barriers, but you can t. Seeing the free people makes you want to escape even more, but again, you
can t. You let your fears tie you

Dithos And Pathos In Advertising
In society today, consumers decisions for buying products is heavily influenced by the marketing
strategies created by advertiser. The first ad presented is advertising certified pre owned BMWs,
while the second ad is marketing Lincoln MKZs. The BMW ad is targeted towards middle class
people looking for a luxury vehicleat a decent price. The Lincoln, however, is directed towards
wealthy upper class people looking for a luxury vehicle. Although the advertisements are appealing
to two different audiences, they both utilize ethos and pathos in an attempt to reach potential
consumers. To understand how advertisers attempt to influence audiences to promote a certain idea
or purchase a specific item, an explanation of the rhetorical devices used would be helpful. For that
reason, the emotional appeal, pathos, focuses on invoking an audiences emotions using elements
such as humor, sympathy, hatred, or fear (Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz 28). In addition, ethos, the
character appeal, intends to persuade an audienceby establishing authority and credibility
(Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz 40). While there are more rhetorical devices, ethos and pathos are the
two that are prevalent in both advertisement videos. Both seem to attempt to gain trust and invoke
the audience to partake in a specific action. To go in depth and understand the ad, one needs to
know what it is exactly. The ad consists of a man meticulously cleaning his BMW. To set the scene,

Women Access Information On Legal Abortions
Literature review
In an ultra Catholic country, how do Irish women access information on legal abortions in the
wake of the Miss X case in 1992?
Introduction
In this literature review I will aim to provide an insight into how women in 21st century Ireland get
access to information on safe, legal abortions in other EU member states. It is a review on previous
literature that assesses the situations and circumstances that led to information on travel and abortion
services becoming accessible to Irish women from 1995 in an amendment to the eighth amendment
section 40.3.3 as a result of X v. Attorney General (1992).
In this paper, I will aim to discuss the history of abortion services, and access to information
from the early 1980 s through to the current social movement in Ireland Repeal the 8th , and how
this relates to the overall literature review topic of The Spectatorship of Suffering . The first
section of this review contains of an outline of Ireland s constitutionally engrained protection of
foetal rights and the way in which this was upset with the Supreme Court s decision in the Miss
X case (1992), because the Court adopted the language of proper candidates for abortions. The
second part aims to outline how government efforts to reach a balance between pro life and pro
choice beliefs and the uncertainty this created in the legal status of abortion in Ireland. I will also
hope to show how the judicial analysis of the Miss X case, alongside legislative

Kozol Still Separate Still Unequal Analysis
Jonathon Kozol writes a piece that is bringing up the issue of segregation in schools. Yes, the law
says that every place in the United States is integrated; everyone should work together. The
problem is that integration just is not happening. Schools for the most part are districted by where
people live, so if most the Hispanic and Black neighborhoods are grouped together then of course
the schoolwill be segregated. Throughout Kozol s piece, he makes the reader think about the
situation America s school system is in through his claims, style and supporting evidence.
Whenever reading Still Separate, Still Unequal: America s EducationApartheid , the most crucial
features to understand is Kozol s claim and style. At the beginning of the piece, Kozol claims,
...while thousands of other schools around the country that had been integrated either voluntarily
or by the force of law have been rapidly resegregating (Kozol 405). He opens up the piece by
telling the reader the issue he will be addressing. If the reader cannot grasp the claim, then the rest
of the piece would be a bunch of facts and stories about the amount of Hispanics, Blacks and
Whites in suburban and city... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kozol was blunt and did not hide anything to get his opinion and point across. He calls society
hypocritical in the way education in cities is used, There is something deeply hypocritical about
a society that holds an eight year old inner city child accountable for her performance on a high
stakes standardized exam but does not hold the high officials of our government accountable for
robbing her of what they gave their own kids six or seven years earlier (Kozol 413). His
willingness to say what he wants to get into the pathos of people is why his whole paper is
appealing. When issues are presented in an appealing way, more people are willing to look into it
and further their knowledge, so in the future the issue can be somewhat dealt

Essay On Age Discrimination
Age has been a discrimination issue for a while and has affected many because of certain rules
and laws those of age have to follow. Age discrimination is something not many look at because
some assume it is not a big deal, it may seem as age equality has been both accepted by the
community that it is known universally because it is in our modern day culture, but as well as
facing critical issues such as elderly abuse or aged care. I will be looking into section 15(1) of the

and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discriminationand, in
particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, sex, age

are particularly about the discrimination of age, that I have chosen. The first case I will discuss is
the case of, Lavoie v. Canada [2002] 1 S.C.R. 769. To summarize the case, it is about reducing

Cloning Is The Cloning Of Cloning
Introduction In biology, a clone simply means that an object, cell, or whole organism has the same
genetic makeup as the original object, cell, or organism. Cloning means an organism is generated
genetically identical from an existing organism through non sexual means. Cloning simply means
to make an identical duplication of genes, fragments of DNAmolecules, organs, or cells. There are
three different types of artificial cloning. They include gene cloning, reproductive cloning, and
therapeutic cloning. Gene cloning produces copies of gene segments of DNA. Reproductive
cloning produces copies of whole animals. Therapeutic cloning is another word for Somatic Cell
Nuclear Transfer (SCNT) and is the cloning of human embryo for research. Animals, plants, and
Humans can all be cloned.
One of the most important breakthrough s in the history of cloning was the cloning of Dolly.
Ian Wilmut and Kieth Cambell cloned the first animal from adult cells. On July 5, 1996 Dolly
the sheep was born using the Roslin Technique. It took a total of two hundred and seventy seven
attempts to clone Dolly before the clone was finally made in perfection. This experiment proved
that it was possible for adult animals to be cloned. Dolly was cloned from the mammary gland
cell of an adult animal. For the mammary cell to develop into a fetus, an egg was still required.
Instead of the egg contributing to the genetic makeup of the Dolly it was only the mammary gland.
The cloning of Dolly involved a

The Lorax, And Moths Of The Lim Timberlost
It was once said, The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness. Throughout the
years many people have made changes to our universe by teaching up to value our environment.
Ecocriticism is using literature to teach us about environmental consequences and give us possible
solutions. The novels Silent Spring, by Rachel Carson, The Lorax, by Dr Seuss, and Moths of the
Limberlost, by Gene Stratton Porter, were all literary examples of ecocriticism and greatly
influenced their readers views on the environment.
When it jumped into the spotlight in the 1060 s, Silent Spring by Rachel Carson quickly put a new
view on the impact of humans on the environment. The author of Silent Spring use ecocriticism to
persuade people and to think about the environment differently. We can see that Rachel Carson s
views on the environment are found in the book and at one point, she says Only within the moment
of time represented by the present century has one species man acquired ... Show more content on

A Critique of Chapter 11 in Neil Postman s Technopoly Essay
A Critique of Chapter 11 in Neil Postman s Technopoly In chapter 11 (The Loving Resistance
Fighter) of the book Technopoly, published in 1992, Neil Postman focuses on a solution to the
problems created by Technopoly. A Technopoly (a word postman capitalizes throughout the book)
is a society that no longer merely uses technology as a support system but instead is shaped by it.
Postman proposes that we become loving resistance fighter(s) who retain the narratives and
symbols that once made the United States the hope of the world (p.182). He believes education is
to lead the resistance against technology by changing the curriculum to help restore a sense of
meaning and purpose lost to the Technopoly.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In chapter 11 Postman gives examples of people who resist the American Technopoly. An
example of a resistance fighter is a person who ignores a poll unless they know the questions
asked and why. As Postman introduced in chapter 8 ( Invisible Technologies ), the form of a
question can produce many different answers. It may also restrict us from seeing solutions to
problems that may become visible through a question worded differently. Postman shares the
story of two priests who write the Pope asking if it was allowable to smoke and pray at the same
time. One priest phrased the question Is it permissible to smoke while praying? and the
response was no because praying should be the focus of ones attention; the other priest asked Is
it permissible to pray while smoking? and the response was yes, since it is always appropriate to
pray. The opinion of almost any issue is a function of the question asked. In the American
Technopoly the opinion poll is a strict yes or no answer to an unexamined question. One is
therefore unable to share their knowledge and is easily mislead to answer a question in a certain
way. Another example of a resistance fighter is a person who does not allow psychology or any
social science to pre empt the language and thought of common sense. This example clearly relates
to chapter 9 ( Scientism ), in which Postman expresses his annoyance of the many people who have
a strong

What Are The Obstacles Of Phoenix s Journey
Phoenix ran into a number of obstacles on her journey. She could have given up in the very
beginning when she recognized that her old age might prevent her from continuing the journey.
She realized that the route was a long one and normally a person of her age would have turned
around, not attempting to complete the journey, With the presence of wild animals, Phoenix
could have discontinued her mission. Most of us would have turned back at this point on the
journey, but Phoenix decided to talk to the animals by saying such things as out of my way , as
she called the animals by name. There were foxes, owls, rabbits, and coons. Phoenix cautioned
the animals to get out of her way and not to come in her direction. When the route became hilly (
The path ran up a hill , p.367), Phoenix felt like there were chains on her feet. She could have
made a decision to turn back at this point, but instead she got to the top and looked behind where
she had come (p.318) As she began traveling down the hill, her dress was caught in the bushes that

making it safely through the fence. There are those times in our life that we have to go through
things that seem impossible to concur, but often, we can talk ourselves through it. All of these

Gender Identity As An Axis Of Social Order
Gender is considered an axis of social order. Its categorisation into masculinity and femininity is
social constructed and maintained in everyday life (Clark and Page, 2005; Mackie, 1994). Gender
identity is our innermost understanding of our self as male or female . Most people develop a
gender identity that matched their biological sex (their body). Genderidentity can be affected by,
and is different from one society to another, depending on the way the members of society evaluate
the role of females and males. Our gender identitycan be influenced from the ethnicity of the
group, their cultural background, and family values. Gender like social class and race can be used
to socially categorize people and even lead to prejudice and discrimination. From day to day,
continuous production of gender has been called doing gender (West and Zimmermann, 1987),
meaning that gender is made by us in everyday lives in our interactions with others.
The media does affects and influenced gender identity. For instance children are constantly
bombarded with shows depicting gender stereotype models from toys marketed as for boys or
girls, to children s TV programmes and shows. It is common for children s programmes to
emphasize the role of the make hero who saves the weak female. Children interpret these messages
as real life which shapes their reality, behaviour and expectations of their gender role. However, the
social construction of gender does not happen only, it continues

The Unclear Treatment for Adhesive Capsulitis
The complete treatment for adhesive capsulitis remains unclear even though numerous
interventions have been studied. Previously published prospective studies of effective treatment
have demonstrated incompatible results for improving shoulder range of motion in patients with
this condition (Ruiz, 2009). Non operative interventions include patient education, modalities,
stretchingexercises, and joint mobilizations (Kelley et al., 2009). Levine et al. stated that 89.5% of
ninety eight patients with frozen shoulderreturned well to non operative management (Kelley et al.,
2009). Reviewed studies recommend that many patients have benefited from physical therapy and
displayed reduced symptoms, increased mobility, and/or functional improvement (Cleland et al.,
2002). However, a Cochrane Review by Green et al. says that there is, no evidence that
physiotherapy alone is of benefit for adhesive capsulitis (Green et al., 2010).
For the treatment of adhesive capsulitis, patient education is crucial in helping to reduce frustration
and encourage compliance. It is important to highlight that although full range of motion may never
be improved, the condition will spontaneously resolve and stiffness will greatly diminish with time.
It is also helpful to give good instructions to the patient and form an appropriate home exercise
program that is easy to fulfill with because daily exercise is critical in releasing symptoms (Kelley
et al., 2009).

All of the success the Pequots have experienced has occurred due to the signing of the Indian

primary regulators on Indian Gaming but that the Tribes were required to negotiate with their
specific states to conduct a Class III gambling establishment. This is called the state regulatory

Malaysian rubber company of Genting International requesting a loan, which they eventually
secured. It was paid off in just seven months. Genting International also lent the tribe an additional
$142 million for expansion and a 610 room hotel and formed a partnership to build a second 330

(usually band 7 or above). The Authorised Pharmacist also undertakes the clinical checks/screening
of the prescriptions. It has been discussed that undertaking these checks by different pharmacists
will add an extra safety check in the process and there is a plan for separation of these roles in the
near future. The plan is to have a Clinical Pharmacist undertaking the clinical checks in the clinical
area and an Authorised Pharmacist in the Aseptic Unit undertaking the product check and approval
(release). Another proposal has been suggested following this analysis.
There are some concerns regarding separation of the roles as the staff who may be involved in
approving products (band 6 pharmacists) have a lack of knowledge and skills in aseptics. There
is also a need for cost effective working and flexibility within the service, including appropriate
skill mix. This all emphasises a requirement for this critical analysis to ensure that a robust product

During the Victorian Era, the right to a proper education for women was at the forefront of politics.
Although England has Queen Victoria in parliament, nevertheless woman face oppression daily on
the basis of their gender; primarily through the lack of education they receive throughout their
lifetime. The struggle for education causes men and womanto compose multiple types of literary
critiques to argue the social structure that currently exists in their society. The main statement made
in political works in Victorian era address the patriarchal male society that existed during this time
The work created by Elizabeth Wollstonecraft, Sarah Stickney Ellis, John Stuart Mills, Elizabeth
Browning and Alfred Lord Tennyson demonstrate key examples of writers who contain a strong
voice for feminist issues, specifically about education and the portrayal of woman. The information
these individuals discuss in their writings emphasizes the importance of feminism in the past and
present. The use of literature provides writers with the opportunity to create different forms of
written work that advertises on specific subjects that holds important merit. The literature these
authors present address the strong forms of evidence that surround the topic of women s right to an

The Glass Castle Analysis
Glass Castle The Glass Castle, is a memoir, written by Jeannette Walls about her life and her
families uncommon way of living. From a young age Walls and her family were always moving
around and stirring up a little trouble wherever they went. The family faces many problems because
of the way they lived including keeping food on the table, an alcoholic father, and a stable living
situation. Even though the familyhad all these problems, all of the Walls children grew up to do
great things in the world. Although Walls tone changes as she grows older, Walls uses an
underlying ironic and humorous tone through the whole book with the use of diction, detail, and
dialogue.
Using vibrant word choice Walls displays an underlying ironic tone. After Walls burns herself at
a young age, she is forced to go to the hospital where a nurse gives her chewing gum for the first
time. When her mom found out about it she said It was a disgusting low class habit (12). At this
point in the story the readers do not know exactly how bad the family s financial situation is, but
they do know that the family is living in a trailer home. In addition, at the start of the book Walls
recalled a time when she watched her mom dig through a trash can,so her saying that chewing
gum is disgusting and a low class habit is ironic and hypocritical considering she digs through the
trash. Walls had a great amount of respect for her dad, and she also looked up to him. Everytime
he was mentioned in the book

Erikson s Stages Of Psychosocial Analysis
Erikson s first three stages of psychosocial development Basic trust or distrust: It is the first
stage. This is where the sense of personal and society confidence of the infant is developed
through the quality of early care. Good quality early care brings the virtue of hope, which made
the foundation for faith. Autonomy or shame and doubt: It is the second stage. This is where the
child interacts with the world in new ways, and the sense of autonomy is encouraged by free will.
The acquired virtue is the will that grows up to be the basis of adult recognition that manifest a
spirit of justice. Initiative or guilt: This third stage is where the basic activity is the game. Its virtue
is the purpose originated in fantasy and play. It forms the roots of ineraction and adulthood rituals.
As a councelor, I need to have a strong sense of the patient s potential for growth and development.
My main job is to foster that growth and not impose my own expectations and experiences. In my
practice, I need to strongly consider the relationship between clients and their parents since Erikson
expresses that transference and countertransference are rooted in the relationship the client had with
his parents.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

founding government.
The history of Peru is riddled with legends, conquistadors, and a revolution. The fabled beginnings
of the Inca empire, which preceded Peru in their lands, state that Manco Capac, a son of the sun
god, was sent down and made home in the Vilcanota Valley ( Peru History ). This became their
capital, Cuzco. The Incas documented their history through the reigns of the kings. However, it was

a fight with some Spanish men over a game ( Manco Capac ). Pizarro was also murdered, in

Peru, which stretched almost the entire continent of South America. The viceroy of Peru,
Francisco Toledo organized the Indian population and beheaded Manco Capac II s son, cutting
off all chance at a Native rebellion. The viceregal capital of Peru was Lima and included the
head church of Peru. There was one rebellion in Peru, by the last Incas, but it ultimately failed
(Kus 11). This directly led into the revolution for independence. Argentine general, Jose de San
Martin came to Peru in 1820 and declared Peru an independent country the next year on July 28.
The Peruvians had been fighting for independence for over a decade ( Historical Information ).
SimГіn Bolivar, had helped almost all of South America declare freedom, refused to liberate Peru,
unless he did not have to share power. Martin stepped down and Bolivar won independence and

Theme Of Sin And Redemption In The Kite Runner
In Khaled Hosseini s Kite Runner, Amir says I became what I am today at the age of twelve...
But it s wrong what they say about the past, I ve learned, about how you can bury it. Because the
past claws its way out. Looking back now I realise I have been peeking into that deserted alley for
the last twenty six years... It was my past of unatoned sins . Sinis like an albatross around ones neck
and atonement is the only way to redeem oneself. This means that when one commits a sin, they
are burdened with guilt and the only way to get rid of this burden and attain peace and redemption
is to atone for one s sins. Same was the case with Amir, his past full of unatoned sins kept haunting
him even when he had tried to move on in life. And finally after... Show more content on

about it. However, his past sins caught up to his present day pretentious living. Similar was the case
with Kunti, she never accepted Karna as her son, however in the end repentance led her to
acceptance. Dimmesdale, just like Amir was a coward who did not stand up for those loyal to him
and accept his sins. However Dimmesdale lived a contrite and torturous life to punish himself.

Descriptive Essay On Starbucks
As I approach the doors of Starbucks there is two little kids outside running around. My
Godmother opened the smell of strong freshly brewed coffee hit my nose. The Starbucks is a
small cafГ© with a drive through, with tables and chairs in a L shape setting. My Godmother
tells me to have a seat at one of the tables away from her and her co workers. They are already
sitting and started their meeting. There are two young women behind the counter conversing about
music. One had run to the a room that is also behind the counter she had to grab something to so
that she could refill whatever she was refilling. The little girland boythat were outside when my
godmother and I walked into Starbucks came in and sat at the next to me and was yelling at each
other. The woman that was sitting next to my godmother got up and came up to the kids and
whispered something to them. They got up and walked over to the counter, the woman asked one
of the women that was behind the counter for a cup of ice water. The woman then gives the kids
the water. They sit back at the table to drink the water but instead they started blowing bubbles into
the cup. The little boy says , Stop blowing bubbles. Вќ The little girl said Now let s mix it up. Вќ

behind the counter as if he was going to clock in. He started singing and one of the young women

Clifford Brown Character Traits
Referred to as a Jazz singer, Sarah Vaughan exhibits her all rounded musical personality in her
renowned album Sarah Vaughan with Clifford Brown. Although the title indicates that the album
features influential trumpeter Clifford Brown, the singer is the indisputable focus, who enjoys
accompaniments by a small, compact group of instrumentalists. Clifford Brown, also known as
Brownie, with his restrained, graceful delivery, shares equal parts of solo with tenor saxophonist
Paul Quinichette and flutist Herbie Mann in most of the songs . His status among the
instrumentalists was not accentuated when the album was recorded in the December of 1954.
The original LP consists of nine tracks, including several classic Jazz standards with new attempts
combining voice and instruments, two little recorded Jazz songs and two pop ballads. Vaughan s
identity as a Jazz singer was not always clear. Actually, in 1953, Sarah signed two contracts with
Mercury one with Mercury itself to sing pops and another one with their subsidiary label EmArcy

Accompanied only by the piano and the light sound of the drum, Sarah presents her moving voice
with sophisticated techniques in Embraceable You. Her thick low notes, combining with heartfelt
vibrato at the end of the phrases, makes you feel a sense of tenderness and sublime. After Jimmy
Jones solo, her singing reaches a higher level. That above and the long note on do are her very
moment of maternity. When she sings, you really believe that there are warm arms around you.
September Song shows Sarah s brilliant techniques on high notes. This song gives solo
opportunities to the horns, but they do not hog the spotlight. Paul Quinichette and Clifford Brown
play plain solo. The flute solo here sounds clumsy and the noise of air is a bit annoying. To be
honest, only Sarah s bluesy treatment add value to the

  • 2. Questions On Legal Mobilization And Oral And Anal Kellie McClure Sociology 323 Final Exam Part 1 (Short answers/terms): 1.Sodomy is any sex that is non procreative. This means that it is both oral and anal. It applies to everyone, gays, lesbians, and heterosexuals. It is significant to the context of the course because there were sodomy laws and Bowers v. Hardwick was a case that changed the way we talk about things of this nature. 2.Social closure is when there are boundaries created in order to define who is allowed in a profession. This is important to our class discussion because it helps show why there is differences in who is in the profession. This means that women, minorities, and blacks are all given boundaries of how they can enter the law profession. 3.Legal mobilization means that different advocacy groups and organizations with a cause are using the law and litigation in order to create social change. This is important because it shows the different ways in which we enact social change. Law can be used to make a difference in our laws instead of just being to handle a dispute or criminal case. 5.The Access to Justice Gap means that there are more people who are eligible for legal assistance but there are not enough lawyers to accept their cases. Only one of my friends grew up religious and even then it never defined her. Moving across the country and into a southern college town, I ve discovered what it really means to be religious and how devoted people are to their beliefs. I ve always been interested in religions that seem foreign to me like Buddhism or Hinduism. However, I decided to devote my time in learning about Catholicism. One of the most important ideals of the Catholic Church is social teaching. Their goal is to create a more just and holy society even among modern issues. Something that really fascinated me was the way the priest was able to relate social problems of modern world to the readings from the Old and New Testaments. The Church proclaimed, Any kind of social or cultural discrimination in basic personal rights on the grounds of sex, race, color, social conditions, language, or religion must be curbed and eradicated as incompatible with God s design . Just from going to one Catholic service my preconceived mindset of Catholics and their beliefs was changed. • 7. Why Is Santa Clause Wrong Santa Claus is an imaginary being, based off of the story of Saint Nicholas. Often we teach children myths, legends and fairytales to portray a theme to them on a level that they can understand, or sometimes we pretend something for fun, such as a doll being a child s baby but both we and the child know that the doll is fake and not a real baby. Despite this, I believe teaching kids that an old man drops down the chimney each year to give them gifts is wrong. Firstly, because it sets a precedent in the child parent relation that some lies are OK, or even good , and this can have a bad effect on their understanding of honesty, parents should always be communicating truthfully to their child. • 14. Compare And Contrast My Last Duchess And Porphyria s Lover Robert Browning (7 May 1812 12 December 1889) was an English poet and scriptwriter whose mastery of the dramatic monologue made him one of the most prominent Victorian poets. Within his collection were two of his most renowned works, My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover . In My Last Duchess the speaker is an Italian Duke who is speaking to the ambassador about his daughter, who he intends to marry. The Duke then begins to flaunt his gallery of art with the intent to impress. He then comes across the painting of his last duchess in which openly speaks about having her murdered for lack of respect for him. Porphyria s Lover is a dramatic monologue that describes the events that eventually lead to the death of Porphyria. The speaker lives in a cottage in the countryside. His lover, a gorgeous young woman named Porphyria, comes in out of a storm and attempts to bring cheer to the cottage. She caresses the speaker, offering him her bare shoulder. Realizing that she will eventually give in to society s pressures, and wanting to conserve the moment, he wraps her hair around her neck and strangles her. He then adjusts her corpse, opening the eyes and propping the body up against his side. He sits with her body this way the entire night, the speaker declaring that God has not yet punished him. Although these two poems share many similarities, the differences can be discovered through the analysis of the language, themes, and the feelings the reader experiences while reading these poems. As a result of these poems being published in a collection, the structure of the two poems shares many attributes. Although the rhyme scheme is different to add a unique feel to the poem, they both consist of 1 long stanza. Doing this, Browning added a sense of suspense to each poem by having the reader continuously read without any real transitions. Rhyming couplets show control and the rhyme scheme in My Last Duchess, is rhyming couplets the whole way through, which shows that the Duke evidently had controlled the whole poem. In Porphyria s Lover, there are only rhyming couplets in the end, as he kills her, this is the only time in the whole poem where he has control. Both poems contain a multitude of caesuras within ... For that reason, the emotional appeal, pathos, focuses on invoking an audiences emotions using elements such as humor, sympathy, hatred, or fear (Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz 28). In addition, ethos, the character appeal, intends to persuade an audienceby establishing authority and credibility (Lunsford and Ruszkiewicz 40). While there are more rhetorical devices, ethos and pathos are the two that are prevalent in both advertisement videos. Both seem to attempt to gain trust and invoke the audience to partake in a specific action. To go in depth and understand the ad, one needs to know what it is exactly. The ad consists of a man meticulously cleaning his BMW. To set the scene, soft and light piano music plays in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Women Access Information On Legal Abortions Literature review In an ultra Catholic country, how do Irish women access information on legal abortions in the wake of the Miss X case in 1992? Introduction In this literature review I will aim to provide an insight into how women in 21st century Ireland get access to information on safe, legal abortions in other EU member states. It is a review on previous literature that assesses the situations and circumstances that led to information on travel and abortion services becoming accessible to Irish women from 1995 in an amendment to the eighth amendment section 40.3.3 as a result of X v. Attorney General (1992). In this paper, I will aim to discuss the history of abortion services, and access to information from the early 1980 s through to the current social movement in Ireland Repeal the 8th , and how this relates to the overall literature review topic of The Spectatorship of Suffering . The first section of this review contains of an outline of Ireland s constitutionally engrained protection of foetal rights and the way in which this was upset with the Supreme Court s decision in the Miss X case (1992), because the Court adopted the language of proper candidates for abortions. The second part aims to outline how government efforts to reach a balance between pro life and pro choice beliefs and the uncertainty this created in the legal status of abortion in Ireland. I will also hope to show how the judicial analysis of the Miss X case, alongside legislative ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Yes, the law says that every place in the United States is integrated; everyone should work together. The problem is that integration just is not happening. Schools for the most part are districted by where people live, so if most the Hispanic and Black neighborhoods are grouped together then of course the schoolwill be segregated. Throughout Kozol s piece, he makes the reader think about the situation America s school system is in through his claims, style and supporting evidence. Whenever reading Still Separate, Still Unequal: America s EducationApartheid , the most crucial features to understand is Kozol s claim and style. At the beginning of the piece, Kozol claims, ...while thousands of other schools around the country that had been integrated either voluntarily or by the force of law have been rapidly resegregating (Kozol 405). He opens up the piece by telling the reader the issue he will be addressing. If the reader cannot grasp the claim, then the rest of the piece would be a bunch of facts and stories about the amount of Hispanics, Blacks and Whites in suburban and city... Age discrimination is something not many look at because some assume it is not a big deal, it may seem as age equality has been both accepted by the community that it is known universally because it is in our modern day culture, but as well as facing critical issues such as elderly abuse or aged care. I will be looking into section 15(1) of the Charter, under the equality rights it is known as, Every individual is equal before and under the law and has the right to the equal protection and equal benefit of the law without discriminationand, in particular, without discrimination based on race, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, sex, age or mental or physical disability. Cloning means an organism is generated genetically identical from an existing organism through non sexual means. Cloning simply means to make an identical duplication of genes, fragments of DNAmolecules, organs, or cells. There are three different types of artificial cloning. They include gene cloning, reproductive cloning, and therapeutic cloning. Gene cloning produces copies of gene segments of DNA. Reproductive cloning produces copies of whole animals. Therapeutic cloning is another word for Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer (SCNT) and is the cloning of human embryo for research. Animals, plants, and Humans can all be cloned. One of the most important breakthrough s in the history of cloning was the cloning of Dolly. Ian Wilmut and Kieth Cambell cloned the first animal from adult cells. On July 5, 1996 Dolly the sheep was born using the Roslin Technique. It took a total of two hundred and seventy seven attempts to clone Dolly before the clone was finally made in perfection. This experiment proved that it was possible for adult animals to be cloned. Dolly was cloned from the mammary gland cell of an adult animal. For the mammary cell to develop into a fetus, an egg was still required. Instead of the egg contributing to the genetic makeup of the Dolly it was only the mammary gland. Throughout the years many people have made changes to our universe by teaching up to value our environment. Ecocriticism is using literature to teach us about environmental consequences and give us possible solutions. The novels Silent Spring, by Rachel Carson, The Lorax, by Dr Seuss, and Moths of the Limberlost, by Gene Stratton Porter, were all literary examples of ecocriticism and greatly influenced their readers views on the environment. When it jumped into the spotlight in the 1060 s, Silent Spring by Rachel Carson quickly put a new view on the impact of humans on the environment. The author of Silent Spring use ecocriticism to persuade people and to think about the environment differently. A Critique of Chapter 11 in Neil Postman s Technopoly Essay A Critique of Chapter 11 in Neil Postman s Technopoly In chapter 11 (The Loving Resistance Fighter) of the book Technopoly, published in 1992, Neil Postman focuses on a solution to the problems created by Technopoly. A Technopoly (a word postman capitalizes throughout the book) is a society that no longer merely uses technology as a support system but instead is shaped by it. Postman proposes that we become loving resistance fighter(s) who retain the narratives and symbols that once made the United States the hope of the world (p.182). He believes education is to lead the resistance against technology by changing the curriculum to help restore a sense of meaning and purpose lost to the Technopoly.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In chapter 11 Postman gives examples of people who resist the American Technopoly. An example of a resistance fighter is a person who ignores a poll unless they know the questions asked and why. As Postman introduced in chapter 8 ( Invisible Technologies ), the form of a question can produce many different answers. It may also restrict us from seeing solutions to problems that may become visible through a question worded differently. Postman shares the story of two priests who write the Pope asking if it was allowable to smoke and pray at the same time. One priest phrased the question Is it permissible to smoke while praying? and the response was no because praying should be the focus of ones attention; the other priest asked Is it permissible to pray while smoking? and the response was yes, since it is always appropriate to pray. The opinion of almost any issue is a function of the question asked. In the American Technopoly the opinion poll is a strict yes or no answer to an unexamined question. One is therefore unable to share their knowledge and is easily mislead to answer a question in a certain way. Another example of a resistance fighter is a person who does not allow psychology or any social science to pre empt the language and thought of common sense. This example clearly relates to chapter 9 ( Scientism ), in which Postman expresses his annoyance of the many people who have a strong ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. Gender Identity As An Axis Of Social Order Gender is considered an axis of social order. Its categorisation into masculinity and femininity is social constructed and maintained in everyday life (Clark and Page, 2005; Mackie, 1994). Gender identity is our innermost understanding of our self as male or female . Most people develop a gender identity that matched their biological sex (their body). Genderidentity can be affected by, and is different from one society to another, depending on the way the members of society evaluate the role of females and males. Our gender identitycan be influenced from the ethnicity of the group, their cultural background, and family values. Gender like social class and race can be used to socially categorize people and even lead to prejudice and discrimination. From day to day, continuous production of gender has been called doing gender (West and Zimmermann, 1987), meaning that gender is made by us in everyday lives in our interactions with others. The media does affects and influenced gender identity. For instance children are constantly bombarded with shows depicting gender stereotype models from toys marketed as for boys or girls, to children s TV programmes and shows. It is common for children s programmes to emphasize the role of the make hero who saves the weak female. Children interpret these messages as real life which shapes their reality, behaviour and expectations of their gender role. • 32. The Unclear Treatment for Adhesive Capsulitis The complete treatment for adhesive capsulitis remains unclear even though numerous interventions have been studied. Previously published prospective studies of effective treatment have demonstrated incompatible results for improving shoulder range of motion in patients with this condition (Ruiz, 2009). Non operative interventions include patient education, modalities, stretchingexercises, and joint mobilizations (Kelley et al., 2009). Levine et al. stated that 89.5% of ninety eight patients with frozen shoulderreturned well to non operative management (Kelley et al., 2009). Reviewed studies recommend that many patients have benefited from physical therapy and displayed reduced symptoms, increased mobility, and/or functional improvement (Cleland et al., 2002). However, a Cochrane Review by Green et al. says that there is, no evidence that physiotherapy alone is of benefit for adhesive capsulitis (Green et al., 2010). For the treatment of adhesive capsulitis, patient education is crucial in helping to reduce frustration and encourage compliance. It is important to highlight that although full range of motion may never be improved, the condition will spontaneously resolve and stiffness will greatly diminish with time. It is also helpful to give good instructions to the patient and form an appropriate home exercise program that is easy to fulfill with because daily exercise is critical in releasing symptoms (Kelley et al., 2009).
