Analysis Of C. S. Lewis Mere Christianity
C.S. Lewis s Mere Christianity, an influential composition of Biblical opinion, promotes the Gospel
first through live broadcasts during World War II and now as a major premise in theological
discussions. It was Friday, September 1st, 1939 when the course of the war changed drastically for
Great Britain. James Welch, the Director of Religious Broadcasting at the British Broadcasting
Company was interrupted during The Daily Service with a note that pensively stated, Germany
invaded Poland early this morning (Phillips 1). As the months dragged eternally on, the radio waves
carried with them increasingly tragic news, degrading what was left of Britain s morale. Welch stated,
In a time of uncertainty and questioning it is the responsibility ... Show more content on

Hence if I gave a series of talks, I shd mention Christianity only at the end, and would prefer not to
unmask my battery until then (C.S. Lewis, the BBC, and Mere Christianity). He wanted to ease into
the truth about religion and salvation by first evaluating human morality through a broadcast
discussion entitled, Right and Wrong: A Clue to the Meaning of the Universe (C.S. Lewis, the BBC,
and Mere Christianity). The idea that, just as all bodies are governed by the law of gravitation and
organisms by biological laws, so the creature called man also had his law, described Lewis in the
transposed talk of Mere Christianity. He went on to say, that a body could not choose whether it
obeyed the law of gravitation or not, but a man could choose either to obey the law of Human Nature
or to disobey it (Lewis 18). C.S. Lewis describes through these early statements that morality is
universal, for if it wasn t, the very war they were fighting would not have a reason for its existence;
Adolf Hitler would have been acting on his own view of morality which simply differed from Great
Britain s and the Ally forces . It is commonly understood, however, that mankind has some sort of
inherent idea of right and wrong that the Nazi party was violating by drastic measures. In addition to
these powerfully spoken opinions by this Oxford don, Lewis did not want to enforce the viewpoint of
a single Christian denomination, but leave the decision of minor Christian beliefs to the individual. He
states in Mere Christianity:
The reader should be warned that I offer no help to anyone who is hesitating between two Christian
denominations. You will not learn from me whether you ought to become an Anglican, a Methodist, a
Presbyterian, or a Roman Catholic. This omission is intentional...I am a very ordinary layman of the
Church of England...but

Global Markets
DQ 1: Summarize the most important benefits and risks associated with diversification into global
markets.
There are benefits and there are risks associated with diversification into global markets.
Diversification into global markets means a company is seeking to have the control in one central area
instead of in many different areas because ultimately they are seeking to control their costs. The main
advantage of a global market is that a company does not need to make a lot of variations of a product.
They can instead just make one quality standardized product, which means it is easier for the company
to keep everyone on the same page in regard to any changes or innovations to their products.
Ultimately having a global market means ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, the creators of Sesame Street have not only tailored their show to be in different
languages depending upon where it s aired, but they have also tailored the shows characters and their
experiences for the specific market. The article also mentioned how Google adapts its interface for the
specific market that it is accessed in especially when it featured the characters from Sesame Street on
its interface. I found it pretty interesting that these two companies would go to such great lengths to
adapt to the local markets.

The Field Of Applied Behavioral Science
The field of Applied Behavioral Science s future will be greatly affected by contemporary issues that
involve the creation of the Association of Professional Behavior Analysts (APBA), board certification
limitations, and the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
First it is important to examine the effects that the APBA will have on ABS future. The creation of the
APBA will have many negative affects on the field of behavioral analysis as a whole. Many behavior
analysts believe that the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI), which is comprised
mainly of individuals whom have a primarily scholarly interest, is not as supportive of behavior
analysts who participate dominantly in practice. This idea that the ABAI ... Show more content on

The author, Thomas S Critchfield (2011) believes that scientists and practioners should be held
separate, however I believe that this will further damage our unity under the same field, Applied
Behavior Analysis. Critchfields basis for this is that both are both professions, but are different
professions, science and practice, with different concerns and therefore should be kept separate in
order for each to succeed in their own way. It is to my knowledge that both must coexist to better
understand the issues that ABS typically faces.
According to Bales (2012) Chritchfield s ideas deem to be a misguided idea. Bales stated that while
the two professions may be different it is important to remember that there are individuals who engage
in both science and practice. It is impossible to say that these two parts are so separate from each other
that they need to flourish in different environments. This could cause translational research to become
nonexistent and lead use back to simple basic research and research that is for the sole purpose of
helping the people with no care taken to flourish the field. This would lead to a field that may make
discoveries but that may not be able to translate those ideas to benefit the lives of the people. If this
deems to be the case, then why call our science Applied at all?
Next, the licensure of ABS must be addressed. ABS is

A Biblical Study of Spiritual Gift of Tongues Essay
Continuists argue that the spiritual gift of tongues still continue today. To understand this fully, we
need to remind ourselves of the primary purpose of the spiritual gifts and the spiritual gift of speaking
in tongues. Donald W. Burdick refutes the argument of the cessationists using I Corinthians 13:8.
According to him, we must notice, however, that this verse does not say that tongues were to cease at
the end of the apostolic age. However, he also concluded that healings, tongues, interpretation of
tongues, prophecy, and other gifts which may have been objectively miraculous in nature fade not due
to the sagging spiritual life of the church as claimed by the Pentecostals, but because they have
fulfilled their purpose.
Argument 3: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There, the people are willingly giving their lives away for the Gospel enduring beatings and hardships,
imprisonments and poverty. The Church in these places is more like the Church in Smyrna [Rev 2:8],
where believers suffered and died for the faith. It is surely unjust to class them with the Laodicean
church. What is true that during every age, the Seven Churches provide examples and warnings to the
Body of Christ as types of faithfulness and failure.
Conclusion
Spiritual gift of tongue is surely an interesting topic. A thorough study of this topic must be explored
by the church to understand fully its biblical meaning, purpose, characteristics, regulations, and life.
Each believer of the church must understand this doctrine so that they will be armed in battle or
spiritual warfare. This gift was given to the church by the God through the Holy Spirit at Pentecost,
the birth of the church, to validate the apostles as the messengers of God, with God s message. It is
also verified by various sources cited above that the glossolalia, or the tongue speaking meant by Paul
in his epistles were literal language known to man, a foreign language that may not be known to the
speaker that s why an interpreter who has the gift of interpretation has to be present each time it
happens to interpret the utterances, thus, this is not a result of ecstatic utterance or in a trance. The

The Great Recession Of 2008-9
The Great Recession of 2008 9 was the deepest and longest capitalist economic slump since the Great
Depression of 1929 32. The recent financial crisis is known as the Great Recession of 2008 9. Its
downturn was sparked by the collapse of the US housing market. In 2006, the prices of home began to
rise and the banks began to encourage potential homebuyers to take out larger loans. There were lower
interest rates at the time, and this seemed like a good idea for most individuals who were searching for
a new home. Then, in mid 2007, the interest rates began to rise. The values of the homes decreased
and the amount of money a house was worth declined significantly. Many homeowners were stuck
with large loans, increasingly high interest rates, and a decreased price of their home. Many
homeowners went into foreclosure or were evicted. This eventually led to large financial institutions
and banks to become bankrupt, which lead to an overall fall in the US economy. Stocks dropped,
consumer spending declined significantly, and companies began to go out of business (Athanasiu, 43).
This financial crisis has impacted the economy tremendously during that period. Businesses have been
drastically impacted, as have the lives of workers in the United States. Many articles have been
published about different aspects of the recession. One question that has not been completely
addressed is how the Great Recession has affected small business and unemployment rates. The
reason for addressing

Are Non-Monetary Rewards in the Workplace Beneficial
Are Non monetary Rewards in the Workplace Beneficial?
Many high performance companies understand the importance of offering awards and incentives that
recognize, validate, and value outstanding work. They help keep the employees motivated and
productive, and are effective methods of reinforcing company expectations and goals. When the
management of a department gets together to put an incentive program into place, they have to decide
which awards are worth the effort. They also have to consider the perceived value of earning the
award, as well as the effort that is required to earn it. Management and employees may perceive non
monetary incentives to be more valuable than the retail value of the award in cash. Non monetary

According to research performed by Allen and Helms (2002), they confirmed the importance of
regular expressions of appreciation by managers and leaders to encourage behavior of employees to
reach strategic goals. Developmental opportunities, such as being assigned to special projects, can also
be a powerful form of non monetary recognition. Being chosen to accomplish a company initiative is
motivating. It helps employees gain new skills and experiences, demonstrates trust in their abilities,
and adds variety to an individuals work.
Successful Recognition Janet Wiscombe (2002), an associate editor of Workforce, stated that
compensation is a right and recognition is a gift. To successfully recognize employees, emphasize on
the success instead of dwelling on the things that went wrong. Deliver recognition and reward openly
and publicly. Give recognition in a personal and honest manner. Tailor the recognition and reward to
the unique needs of the people involved. Timing is crucial, so contribution should be recognized
throughout a project. Reward contribution close to the time when an achievement is realized, since
delays can weaken the impact. Strive for a clear, unambiguous, and well communicated connection
between accomplishment and reward. Make sure people understand why they received an award and
what criteria were used to determine it. Also, recognize recognition by recognizing the people who
recognize others for excellence. Non monetary

The Importance Of Giftedness In Education
Gagne, 1995 via Mansfield, 2016 ) believes that giftedness is static, or innate , either you have it or
you don t, and the other believes that giftedness is dynamic (i.e. Renzulli, 2012 and Vopat, 2011) and
can be developed provided the appropriate nourishment and/or access to opportunity. According to
Ward (2005), if one agrees that giftedness is innate, then he or she likely favors specialized instruction
to meet gifted children s unique needs similar to how SPED students require differentiated instruction.
Alternatively, if one agrees that giftedness is dynamic, then he or she might favor retaining gifted
students in the general education setting to capitalize on their gifts for the greater good.
Renzulli (2005) wrote that the goal of all schools should be to develop the talents of every student and
equalize their opportunities in ways that allow them to achieve self actualization. Unfortunately, this is
not current practice because unlike NCLB, there are no incentives, mandates, or penalties for students
who are already proficient (Stephens, 2011; Jolly Makel, 2010; Ward, 2005). Generally speaking, this
lack of accountability for gifted education demonstrates that while equity and excellence can coexist
(Stephens, 2011; Ward, 2005), the federal government supports one (equity) over the other
(excellence) and that the tension between these constructs is not innate, but political (Ward, 2005).

Two Different Philosophical Views in Grendel and Beowulf...
Beowulf and Grendel are two tales similar in many ways, yet different from each other. These stories
are like a coin; you cannot have one side without the other. Just as the sides of a coin share the same
coin, these stories share a similar plot, a setting, and tell of the same events. The sides of a coin also
have differences as do Beowulf and Grendel. In the case of these two tales this difference is in their
respective philosophical views. Beowulf portrays the philosophical views of life that many people still
regard today. Those views helped to shape and define the ideal Dane in their culture. For example, the
traits looked for among the Danes were honesty, bravery, and humility. These three requirements in
the Danes were but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In contrast to the Danes of Beowulf , Grendel searched for his very reason of existence by asking the
questions Why? and How? for answers. Grendel started off in the book struggling with finding
meaning in his life while watching the people clearly doing things that gave their lives meaning. He
became upset as he saw that he couldn t deter their spirits no matter what he did and started to feel
jealous of their self found purpose. He realized that through various ways the people attained meaning.
In response to his confusion over their self discovered purpose, Grendel started listening to the Shaper
s words when he spoke to the people shaping their very beliefs which confused Grendel even more on
the meaning of life. After listening to the Shaper for a while, readers can see Grendel in a state of
contradiction. He started off killing people as a simple, bestial monstrosity but in the end he is shown
as quite intelligent and capable of choosing whether to kill or not. Soon, Grendel started seeking
answers to his questions from a dragon. The dragon s very philosophy on life was that there is no
meaning of life which started to influence Grendel. Upon Grendel s persistent questions of Why? , the
dragon told him You improve them, my boy! Can t you see that yourself? You stimulate them! You
make them think and scheme...You are, so to speak, the brute existent by which they learn to define

Living On The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake
San Andreas Essay
There are thousands of people living in San Francisco, without knowing that they are at a high risk of
fatality at this moment. People should not be living too close or on a fault line, especially without the
knowledge of the risks they are taking. The San Andreas fault line is a juncture of the Pacific and
North America plates. The fault line is 800 miles long. It starts close to Eureka and ends above
Brawly. Scientists predict that an earthquake can happen at the San Andreas fault line any moment
right now and with very high likelihood of happening sometime before 2032. In the event of an
earthquake, many lives will be lost, money will be spent, and in some cases, residents are ignorant of
the peril.
Many lives will be lost when the next earthquake strikes. During the 1906 San Francisco earthquake,
more than 700 fatalities occurred. This could happen again if people continue to live on the fault line.
While the earthquake will cause numerous amounts of death, the fires, and tsunamis the earthquake
creates will cause even more destruction and devastation. Most of the deaths from the 1906
earthquake were mainly caused by the fires that the earthquake caused. When the next earthquake
strikes, more people could die. Some may say that there are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

will be useless if it is unused. People can do all they want to earthquake proof the cities, but in the
end, when the next big one strikes, lives and money will still be lost. Knowing all the risks there are to
living on the San Andreas fault line, it is very clear that it is not a safe place for people to

The Three Assumptions Of Confessionalism
Many protestants, not brought up in liturgical church settings, find themselves taken aback and
confused when first reading the Nicene Creed. This is true especially pertaining to what the creed says
about the church. Unfortunately, in many Baptist, Pentecostal, and non denominational Churches, the
Nicene Creed is unfamiliar or unknown to the majority of Church members. A common argument
against the use of creeds is why use a creed when we ve got the bible? While this may seem to be
rooted in a very high view of scripture, Carl R. Trueman suggests that it is possibly an unwitting
capitulation to the spirit of the age. In short, Trueman argues that the three assumptions of
confessionalism, the past being important and of positive relevance today, language as being a stable
transmission of truth throughout time, and the need for a body or institution capable of composing and
enforcing creeds, are all countercultural in today s world. Trueman s third assumption can sound like
nails on a chalkboard for many Christians. A seemingly ironic distrust of religious organizations exists
heavily within Christianity. This skepticism about the church is why one, holy, catholic, and apostolic
church can be a difficult thing to say, let alone believe. However, it is a misunderstanding of the
church that leads to distrusting the creed s validity when it comes to the Bride of Christ. This paper
sets out to affirm that there truly is one, holy, catholic an apostolic church. Even in

Was The American Revolution Radical Or Radical
The American Revolution is typically looked at as a conservative movement, but it seems most of the
actions taken were very radical. They were fighting to defend their rights, governed and natural. The
American Revolution was as radical as any other revolution, in a special 18th century way, and this
seems to hold true while looking at the new waves of thinking. It involves the Whigs and Tories, and
while they are at opposite sides of the spectrum, they consecutively agreed to not address and higher
law principles so they would not have to rework their entire system.. The Revolution worked against
this, and the parties chose to pretend it was not a serious movement and act, as they believed it would
not take any effect. More people got involved and all aspects of life began to be questioned and
revolutionized. The Revolution seems to be radical in a more definitive way as it caused segregation
of beliefs, the Declaration of independence, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people were finally being valued and everyone was given a chance to work towards improving
the things taking place around them. While it is very debatable, the actions that were taken and how
individuals started to think on their own cause the Revolution to be a special and more defining type
of radical. There has never been a revolution that has been born out of ideas alone and this time, it was
at least the beginning of seeing change. Starting with the Tories and Whigs reformation, carrying out
through the war and even the justice and social systems, the radicalism started growing and spreading.
There was still a long way to go and a huge separation between conservative and liberal views, but it
was a revolution for the people. It was special for the 18th century and was able to be carried out due
to the segregation of beliefs, the magnum opus, and the acts of the

Do You Exist Because You Think, or Do You Think Because...
In order to consider I exist because I think or I think because I exist , I would define the I exist
because I think as I think is the cause of I exist . This implies I think appear before I exist and cause I
exist to happen. In the other side, I think because I exist would be I exist is the cause of I think . This
implies I exist appear before I think and cause I think to happen.
In terms of logic, I would say I think because I exist is more appropriate. It is because I must exist
first, therefore I can think of my existence. Things about me or myself are impossible to happen before
my existence and cause my existence. In the following paper, I would like to explain why I exist
because I think is false and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, I can think about my existence. So I think must base on I exist . In contrast, if I exist is
based on I think , this is impossible that I think appear before I exist . How can my mind and thinking
exist dependently? Although some scientists may argue that brain wave what we call ghosts can exist
after life, they may be the other forms of human thought I think appearing without I exist . However,
who have seen ghost in this world? At least until today no one can prove ghosts exist in this world. So
I think is not the cause that I can exist. However, I exist is the cause of I can think.
To conclude, I think cannot exist without I exist . It should be I exist first then I think I exist . As the

If it is I exist because I think , it would be missing I exist in the first place, as below diagram shows:

Noam Chomsky Consent
Journal on The Manufacture of Consent
In Noam Chomsky s film I have learned quite a few things about life in a
democratic society. This film has made think in a three dimensional way for whom is
really right, Noam Chomsky or those who he calls quot;Elites quot;. I have come to the
conclusion that Noam Chomsky is right, for his claim is very convincing which is
that the media is controlled by the elites who determine what the public should
know. How exactly does Chomsky prove all this to make sense? Well, he
explained that the governments, corporations and the other elites manufacture the
consent of the public to serve their own interests.

This is why the average

Another thing I would like to talk about is that Noam Chomsky is a type of
person who wont let nothing get in his way, for example: It was said that he risked
his career and life for the sake of other people. This is one of the reasons why I
would respect him. He could have put his whole family down the drain, but
somehow he came out on top. I could tell he was a man who is not only itelligent,
but also a man of great courage and caring for those in need, like those of East
Timur. If it wasnt for him, I would bet that more than half the class would of
never heard about what was going on in East Timur. The reason why I believe he
made film was that he wanted to help the people of East Timur or else he wouldn t
have put it on the film. He wanted the viewers to see the tragedy of East Timur,
for he believed that the only way to work out problems was from the outside and
this I think, he meant us the viewers to spread the word for we are a democratic
society and we control the government and not the government control us.

Death Of Death By Emily Dickinson
Emily Dickinson like many poets of her lifetime was misunderstood and isolated. Her poetry was
reflection her frustrations and her obsession with the unexplainable. She was rejected by society as
well as her mentors due to her ideas and dark poetry. As time went by she became withdrawn,
devoting her life to perfectionalize her writing. It was during this period of isolation that Dickinson
wrote some of her greatest work, for instance Because I Could Not Stop For Death published in 1890
after her death. Personification, symbols, and the setting are use to illustrate and maintain the strong
theme of death through the poem.
Death is given human characteristics. Dickinson personifies death as a suitor who is kind and polite.
He goes out of his way to take the poet on a carriage ride. She is seduced by his charm and the poet
gladly gives up her life to join him. Death drives without haste or force he is mindful of the condition
of the poet. She is slowly dying but she is relief and competent with the painless death. Once again
death is personified as a dedicated lover who is willing to do anything to take care of his beloved.
Death comes as a gentleman, motivated by humble intentions, and concerned only with carrying the
lady her bridal room in heaven...death as lover (Griffith 56). As a the poem continues a drastic is
changed is made and the poet is betrayed by death and her chaperon immortality . Death is now
arrogant and malicious; when the poet becomes

which is why Lord Peter addresses why the case he is working on does not fulfill him. He says,
Competent, of course, but no imagination. I want imagination in a criminal. (50). When something is

Title:
Gender, Contingencies of Self Worth, and Achievement Goals as Predictors of Academic Cheating in a
Controlled Laboratory Setting
Study Objective:
In this research, experimenters were curious as to see how gender differences related to cheating.
Based off this the experimenters further evaluated how competition and virtue played an affect on how
little or how much one might cheat. As noted in the title, Gender, Contingencies of Self Worth, and
Achievement Goals as Predictors of Academic Cheating in a Controlled Laboratory Setting, these
contingencies were the focal point of this study. Studies before had been based off self report and
observation, which created a problem and produced errors as to the rate of cheating. ... Show more

In this time, the confederate obtained the answer key and proceeded to copy the answers as well as
asking the participant if they wanted to cheat. If the participant rejected the offer they then asked
again. The confederate then left the classroom to use the restroom leaving the participant alone. This
allowed for them to either cheat off the confederates test or the answer key. The experimenter returned
shortly after and collected the test. Then, the participants took a short 4 question questionnaire with
open ended questions about the test. Afterwards the participants were debriefed.
The research conducted in this study was experimental. You can tell because it was in a laboratory
setting where every situation was controlled. They were searching for whether or not the participants
would cheat and manipulated the variables in a way that allowed for participants to cheat by having
the experimenter leave the classroom as well as the confederate.
Results:
After the experiment was conducted and the results analyzed the study found that 57% of the
participants showed cheating on one or more of the 5 questions that could not be solved. When is
comes to differences in gender, men were shown to have cheated more then women. But, within the
number of participants who cheated the number of questions they cheated on did differ among gender.

The Vietnam War Changed America
The Vietnam War greatly changed America forever. It was the longest war fought in America s
History, lasting from 1955 to 1973. The Vietnam War tarnished America s self image by becoming the
first time in history the United States failed to accomplish its stated war aims, to preserve a separate,
independent, noncommunist government. The war also had great effects on the American people. It
was the first war ever broadcast on television. The public was able to see what happened on the
battlefield. One of the chief effects of the war was the division it caused among the people. Not since
the Civil War had America been so divided. This war would have lasting affects on the United States.
Many people to this day still believe that America had no business getting involved in the Vietnam
War. It was a very controversial decision made by John. F Kennedy to send over American troops to
aid in the battle against communism. The people that supported this decision to participate in the war
always said that it would work out better for the United States in the long run. Well, they could not be
more wrong. America entering into the vietnam war was the least helpful thing to America in the long
run. Simply it took America s self image and through it in the garbage. The Vietnam war, for the
Americans, was an unwinnable war. The half a million United States troops as well as the 700,000
southern Vietnamese troops were no match for the 250,000 northern vietnamese troops. The

Displacement In The Kite Runner
Renowned psychologist Sigmund Freud utilized psychological analysis regarding people and their
reactions to anxiety arousing stimuli to discover that most often, people illustrate at least one of his
identified defense mechanisms in order to calm their conscience. These defense mechanisms can
easily be identified across various cultures and time periods and appear throughout various types of
literature. Particularly, Khaled Hosseini provides his protagonist, Amir, with numerous opportunities
to express defense mechanisms, specifically displacement, in his praised novel The Kite Runner.
Primarily, Amir tragically witnesses a group of boys brutally rape his Hazara, Hassan, and later
expresses his guilt regarding his own failure to act outward ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Many times, when experiencing such a trauma, people or objects may develop a more profound
meaning to an individual than they previously possessed. According to psychologists, if one defends
their actions with displacement, they may allow others to become a symbol of their wrongdoings or
their aspirations (McLeod). This enables the struggling individual to channel their focus towards a
new symbol rather than towards what actually deserves the wrath of their spirit. Hosseini clearly
demonstrates this effect in his literature; Hassan rises above the immaturity and reaches out to Amir in
the months following his assault. Amir disregards Hassan s emotions and harasses him when they sit
together underneath a pomegranate tree. He begins taking his anger out on his Hazara, and [he] hit[s]
him with another pomegranate... Hit me back! [he] [spits]. Hit me back, goddamn you! (Hosseini 92).
In Amir s mind, Hassan embodies exactly what he strives to be: loyal, honest, and strong. His inability
to assume such a persona results in resentment toward Hassan and enables Hassan to symbolize Amir
s failure. Amir, yet again, displaces his unhappiness regarding his own actions upon Hassan by beating
him with the fruits, rather than damaging his own ego. Hence, Amir obviously responds to difficult
situations and his inner conflicts using displacement, because he channels the anger he

Alexander The Great s Conquest
According to Dr. Wilcox s lecture, how did Alexander the Great s conquest differ from that of Assyria
and Babylon and how was the influence that he left behind felt in Jerusalem (also include the rule of

empires that ruled over Judah continued through the rise and fall of the Persian Empire and on to
Greek rule over Palestine, which began with Alexander the Great and would prove to be the most

Dehumanization In The Handmaids Tale
Many authors reveal parts of their opinions on current topics happening around the world through
their writing. Margaret Atwood is a great example of using her ability to write dystopian literature and
getting her opinions heard loud and clear. In the book The Handmaid s Tale by Margaret Atwood, the
author makes a clear statement of women being marginalized, excluded and silenced in our current
society. She uses handmaids and an extreme set up city, Gilead, to demonstrate how women are
treated in present day society. They are dehumanized in their society, seen as machines for
reproduction, kept illiterate and isolated. The handmaids are one of the many social groups in Gilead.

This is because if they would be able to have a form of communication, they would be able to repel

people, either by writing or verbal communication, it keeps the risk of rebellion towards the
government small. But this also enforces the fact that they belong to a certain commander and they
aren t able to interact with other people who could possibly interfere with their relationship and future
child. Handmaids are excluded from humanity by not being able to have full conversations with
people around them. This makes it more obvious to the reader of how twisted their society is when
realizing the protagonist of the book seems to have a lot of internal thoughts throughout the book. The
protagonist, Offred uses a lot of flashback memories before Gilead and compares it to her current life.
Everytime Offred does this, she makes a vague comparison that the past was actually a better place
than Gilead. While reading, it starts to be more clear that they are completely isolated and all they
have is themselves. They are excluded from natural human traits like having conversations and being

Body Evidence 1: In terms of its conservational effects, toxicity is a massive matter regarding GM
crops. More than 80% of all genetically modified crops grown worldwide have been engineered for
herbicide tolerance. As a result, the use of toxic herbicides, such as Roundup, has increased fifteenfold
since GMOs were first introduced. (3) GM crops create toxins in the soil wherever they are planted.
When toxic residues are released into the soil through the GM crop, toxins can prevent the growth of
good bacteria that are essential for plant growth. Consequently, there are fewer soil bacteria, which are
integral to the healthy soil for plants to grow without the use of chemical fertilizers. Nutrients are not
returned to the soil, thus leaving the soil dry and void of all vital nutrients for growth. When GM crops
are planted, generally in a monocrop fashion, traditional seeds are no longer used. Framers then
become accustomed to the GMO seeds creating a cycle of dependence on GMO seeds and chemical
fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides to grow a single crop. In addition to soil issues, the irrigation
used to grow GM foods naturally carries all of these problems into water sources and into the air. (3)
This exposes different bacteria, insects, and animals to the same problems. Thus, creating pesticide
resistant superbugs; the toxins originally used to

The Two Act Comic Opera Barbier Von Bagdad
Haixu Liu
Professor Rena C. Mueller
History of European Opera
Tuesday, December 9, 14
Barbier Von Bagdad The two act comic opera Barbier Von Bagdad is a two act opera composed by
Peter Cornelius to a German Libretto by the composer in 1858. The libretto is based on two stories,
The Tale of the Tailor and The Barber s Stories of his Six Brothers from The Arabian Nights, as
commonly known as One Thousand and One Nights. This collection of Middle Eastern, Indian, and
North and Western African stories of unknown date and authorship was written in 9th century, when
the Arabs were rapidly expanding their territories and the influence of Islam. The stories in the
collection praised the virtues from the Arabians standard and spread their value around the world. As
one of the most well known Middle Eastern literature, One Thousand and One Nights has not only set
the story of Barbier Von Bagdad in an exoticized world, but also fit into the German people s typical
view of Arab, ensuring that the audience could easily accept the characters. The composer Peter
Cornelius was born in mainz into a family with theatrical background. His career started off as an
actor, but later Cornelius studied violin and learnt composition with Heinrich Esser in Berlin. In
Cornelius early life, he was initially interested in literature, instead of music. This explained why he
later became a prolific critic. In 1849, Cornelius accomplished his first libretto for a one act short
comic opera. Even though

Fellowship Of The Ring Movie And Book Comparison Essay
The Fellowship of the Ring Book/Movie Comparison Written by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of
the Ring was released in 1954; it is the first book in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. The plot centers
around a young hobbit, Frodo Baggins, who must embark on a treacherous journey to destroy the One
Ring. He is accompanied by Sam, Merry, and Pippin. Some of the other key characters include
Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Boromir, and Gimli. A movie adaptation was released in 2001. Although it
is tremendously rare, in this case, the movie adaptation more efficiently tells the story than the book.
The book commences with Bilbo Baggins one hundred and eleventh birthday celebration (Tolkien 21
30). At the end of his party, Bilbo announces that he is going to depart. Suddenly, he mysteriously
vanishes, and the crowd is astounded (Tolkien 30). Bilbo quickly runs to his home, grabs his
belongings, and walks out the door, vowing never to return. However, right before he departs, he is
briefly visited by Gandalf the wizard. Gandalf encourages him to leave behind a ring (Tolkien 33 34).
At this point in the story, the reader has no clue about the significance of the ring or ... Show more

However, sometimes this acute detail is unnecessary. For an example: throughout the book, Frodo and
his companions spend a large portion of time wandering through the woods, avoiding the Black Riders
who desire to seize the One Ring from Frodo (Tolkien 70 145). All of this time spent wandering is not
important to the story and can quite quickly make the reader lose interest or become bored. While it is
necessary to show Frodo traveling, it is not necessary to have seventy five pages dedicated to traveling
through the woods. In the movie, the time spent traveling through the woods is very brief (Jackson).
This helps the viewer stay engaged in the story. The movie keeps only the important events, which

Essay on Major Impacts of the American Revolution
The American Revolution was a war fought between Great Britain and the American colonies over
independence from 1775 to 1783 which resulted in a fundamental change in American politics,
society, and economics. The American Revolution began as a result of Great Britain taxing the
colonies to cover the debts accumulated through the French and Indian War. While the majority of the
colonies stayed loyal to their Mother Land , some of the colonist felt resentment toward England.
Some colonist felt that England had no right to tax the colonies, while they had no representation in

Some of them were crying out for paper currency, some for an equal distribution of property. Another
debate that heated the colonies was the controversy over the future of agriculture in the colonies.
Many thought that America should change into being dependent on commercial manufacturing, while
others wanted to keep agriculture the main source of income. Document F shows the Medal of
Philadelphia Society for the Promotion of Agriculture. The symbolism in the medal is that Farming
could be symbolized as the nation looking on into the future, suggesting abundance, fertility, and
liberty. Socially, the War left many groups of people questioning their role in society. When the men
went off to fight the war, the women were left to run the businesses and assume the positions their
husbands left behind. Many women, such as Deborah Sampson and Molly Pitcher picked up their

questioning their subordinate in society. Women were finding their worth, and slowly started to

Themes Of Voyeurism In Peeping Tom
Helens blind mother, Mrs. Stephens, in the movie Peeping Tom, plays a crucial role in enticing
Michael Powell s major themes of voyeurism and fear, and is the only character who is able to bring a
deeper understanding of Mark as a person and the humanity he hides deep within his childhood.
Film scholar Linda Williams has observed that silent films in the early 1900 s often portrayed the
heroin to be naïve and figuratively or even physically blind. This rests on the concept of voyeurism
and objectification of women as well as the fact that women exist solely for the purpose to be looked
at and are not in the position to see for pleasure themselves. The true satisfaction attained during
voyeuristic activities is from the victim being unaware of being watched; making a blind woman an
ideal victim for a voyeur because of their inability to detect being watched. However, Mark does not
kill Mrs. Stephens because even though he prepares to kill her at one point, he realizes that she is
unable to watch her own death due to her blindness, thus not contributing to his film and experiment.
This shows that Mark is not an ordinary Peeping Tom, and that his voyeurism stems primarily from
his childhood and the filmed episodes of his life that his father directed. His perverted acts of
voyeurism and violence are for purposes much larger than just his own pleasure.
An important quote in the movie is when Mark asks, Do you know what the most frightening thing in
the world is? and he

  • 2. Analysis Of C. S. Lewis Mere Christianity C.S. Lewis s Mere Christianity, an influential composition of Biblical opinion, promotes the Gospel first through live broadcasts during World War II and now as a major premise in theological discussions. It was Friday, September 1st, 1939 when the course of the war changed drastically for Great Britain. James Welch, the Director of Religious Broadcasting at the British Broadcasting Company was interrupted during The Daily Service with a note that pensively stated, Germany invaded Poland early this morning (Phillips 1). As the months dragged eternally on, the radio waves carried with them increasingly tragic news, degrading what was left of Britain s morale. Welch stated, In a time of uncertainty and questioning it is the responsibility ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hence if I gave a series of talks, I shd mention Christianity only at the end, and would prefer not to unmask my battery until then (C.S. Lewis, the BBC, and Mere Christianity). He wanted to ease into the truth about religion and salvation by first evaluating human morality through a broadcast discussion entitled, Right and Wrong: A Clue to the Meaning of the Universe (C.S. Lewis, the BBC, and Mere Christianity). The idea that, just as all bodies are governed by the law of gravitation and organisms by biological laws, so the creature called man also had his law, described Lewis in the transposed talk of Mere Christianity. He went on to say, that a body could not choose whether it obeyed the law of gravitation or not, but a man could choose either to obey the law of Human Nature or to disobey it (Lewis 18). C.S. Lewis describes through these early statements that morality is universal, for if it wasn t, the very war they were fighting would not have a reason for its existence; Adolf Hitler would have been acting on his own view of morality which simply differed from Great Britain s and the Ally forces . It is commonly understood, however, that mankind has some sort of inherent idea of right and wrong that the Nazi party was violating by drastic measures. In addition to these powerfully spoken opinions by this Oxford don, Lewis did not want to enforce the viewpoint of a single Christian denomination, but leave the decision of minor Christian beliefs to the individual. He states in Mere Christianity: The reader should be warned that I offer no help to anyone who is hesitating between two Christian denominations. You will not learn from me whether you ought to become an Anglican, a Methodist, a Presbyterian, or a Roman Catholic. • 3. Global Markets DQ 1: Summarize the most important benefits and risks associated with diversification into global markets. There are benefits and there are risks associated with diversification into global markets. Diversification into global markets means a company is seeking to have the control in one central area instead of in many different areas because ultimately they are seeking to control their costs. The main advantage of a global market is that a company does not need to make a lot of variations of a product. They can instead just make one quality standardized product, which means it is easier for the company to keep everyone on the same page in regard to any changes or innovations to their products. Ultimately having a global market means ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. The Field Of Applied Behavioral Science The field of Applied Behavioral Science s future will be greatly affected by contemporary issues that involve the creation of the Association of Professional Behavior Analysts (APBA), board certification limitations, and the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). First it is important to examine the effects that the APBA will have on ABS future. The creation of the APBA will have many negative affects on the field of behavioral analysis as a whole. Many behavior analysts believe that the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI), which is comprised mainly of individuals whom have a primarily scholarly interest, is not as supportive of behavior analysts who participate dominantly in practice. This idea that the ABAI ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The author, Thomas S Critchfield (2011) believes that scientists and practioners should be held separate, however I believe that this will further damage our unity under the same field, Applied Behavior Analysis. Critchfields basis for this is that both are both professions, but are different professions, science and practice, with different concerns and therefore should be kept separate in order for each to succeed in their own way. It is to my knowledge that both must coexist to better understand the issues that ABS typically faces. According to Bales (2012) Chritchfield s ideas deem to be a misguided idea. Bales stated that while the two professions may be different it is important to remember that there are individuals who engage in both science and practice. It is impossible to say that these two parts are so separate from each other that they need to flourish in different environments. This could cause translational research to become nonexistent and lead use back to simple basic research and research that is for the sole purpose of helping the people with no care taken to flourish the field. This would lead to a field that may make discoveries but that may not be able to translate those ideas to benefit the lives of the people. • 5. A Biblical Study of Spiritual Gift of Tongues Essay Continuists argue that the spiritual gift of tongues still continue today. To understand this fully, we need to remind ourselves of the primary purpose of the spiritual gifts and the spiritual gift of speaking in tongues. Donald W. Burdick refutes the argument of the cessationists using I Corinthians 13:8. According to him, we must notice, however, that this verse does not say that tongues were to cease at the end of the apostolic age. However, he also concluded that healings, tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy, and other gifts which may have been objectively miraculous in nature fade not due to the sagging spiritual life of the church as claimed by the Pentecostals, but because they have fulfilled their purpose. Argument 3: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There, the people are willingly giving their lives away for the Gospel enduring beatings and hardships, imprisonments and poverty. The Church in these places is more like the Church in Smyrna [Rev 2:8], where believers suffered and died for the faith. It is surely unjust to class them with the Laodicean church. What is true that during every age, the Seven Churches provide examples and warnings to the Body of Christ as types of faithfulness and failure. Conclusion Spiritual gift of tongue is surely an interesting topic. A thorough study of this topic must be explored by the church to understand fully its biblical meaning, purpose, characteristics, regulations, and life. Each believer of the church must understand this doctrine so that they will be armed in battle or spiritual warfare. This gift was given to the church by the God through the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the birth of the church, to validate the apostles as the messengers of God, with God s message. It is also verified by various sources cited above that the glossolalia, or the tongue speaking meant by Paul in his epistles were literal language known to man, a foreign language that may not be known to the speaker that s why an interpreter who has the gift of interpretation has to be present each time it happens to interpret the utterances, thus, this is not a result of ecstatic utterance or in a trance. • 6. The Great Recession Of 2008-9 The Great Recession of 2008 9 was the deepest and longest capitalist economic slump since the Great Depression of 1929 32. The recent financial crisis is known as the Great Recession of 2008 9. Its downturn was sparked by the collapse of the US housing market. In 2006, the prices of home began to rise and the banks began to encourage potential homebuyers to take out larger loans. There were lower interest rates at the time, and this seemed like a good idea for most individuals who were searching for a new home. Then, in mid 2007, the interest rates began to rise. The values of the homes decreased and the amount of money a house was worth declined significantly. Many homeowners were stuck with large loans, increasingly high interest rates, and a decreased price of their home. Many homeowners went into foreclosure or were evicted. This eventually led to large financial institutions and banks to become bankrupt, which lead to an overall fall in the US economy. Stocks dropped, consumer spending declined significantly, and companies began to go out of business (Athanasiu, 43). This financial crisis has impacted the economy tremendously during that period. Businesses have been drastically impacted, as have the lives of workers in the United States. Many articles have been published about different aspects of the recession. One question that has not been completely addressed is how the Great Recession has affected small business and unemployment rates. The reason for addressing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Are Non-Monetary Rewards in the Workplace Beneficial Are Non monetary Rewards in the Workplace Beneficial? Many high performance companies understand the importance of offering awards and incentives that recognize, validate, and value outstanding work. They help keep the employees motivated and productive, and are effective methods of reinforcing company expectations and goals. When the management of a department gets together to put an incentive program into place, they have to decide which awards are worth the effort. They also have to consider the perceived value of earning the award, as well as the effort that is required to earn it. Management and employees may perceive non monetary incentives to be more valuable than the retail value of the award in cash. Non monetary rewards in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to research performed by Allen and Helms (2002), they confirmed the importance of regular expressions of appreciation by managers and leaders to encourage behavior of employees to reach strategic goals. Developmental opportunities, such as being assigned to special projects, can also be a powerful form of non monetary recognition. Being chosen to accomplish a company initiative is motivating. It helps employees gain new skills and experiences, demonstrates trust in their abilities, and adds variety to an individuals work. Successful Recognition Janet Wiscombe (2002), an associate editor of Workforce, stated that compensation is a right and recognition is a gift. To successfully recognize employees, emphasize on the success instead of dwelling on the things that went wrong. Deliver recognition and reward openly and publicly. Give recognition in a personal and honest manner. Tailor the recognition and reward to the unique needs of the people involved. Timing is crucial, so contribution should be recognized throughout a project. Reward contribution close to the time when an achievement is realized, since delays can weaken the impact. Strive for a clear, unambiguous, and well communicated connection between accomplishment and reward. • 9. The Importance Of Giftedness In Education Gagne, 1995 via Mansfield, 2016 ) believes that giftedness is static, or innate , either you have it or you don t, and the other believes that giftedness is dynamic (i.e. Renzulli, 2012 and Vopat, 2011) and can be developed provided the appropriate nourishment and/or access to opportunity. According to Ward (2005), if one agrees that giftedness is innate, then he or she likely favors specialized instruction to meet gifted children s unique needs similar to how SPED students require differentiated instruction. Alternatively, if one agrees that giftedness is dynamic, then he or she might favor retaining gifted students in the general education setting to capitalize on their gifts for the greater good. Renzulli (2005) wrote that the goal of all schools should be to develop the talents of every student and equalize their opportunities in ways that allow them to achieve self actualization. Unfortunately, this is not current practice because unlike NCLB, there are no incentives, mandates, or penalties for students who are already proficient (Stephens, 2011; Jolly Makel, 2010; Ward, 2005). Generally speaking, this lack of accountability for gifted education demonstrates that while equity and excellence can coexist (Stephens, 2011; Ward, 2005), the federal government supports one (equity) over the other (excellence) and that the tension between these constructs is not innate, but political (Ward, 2005). • 11. Two Different Philosophical Views in Grendel and Beowulf... Beowulf and Grendel are two tales similar in many ways, yet different from each other. These stories are like a coin; you cannot have one side without the other. Just as the sides of a coin share the same coin, these stories share a similar plot, a setting, and tell of the same events. The sides of a coin also have differences as do Beowulf and Grendel. In the case of these two tales this difference is in their respective philosophical views. Beowulf portrays the philosophical views of life that many people still regard today. Those views helped to shape and define the ideal Dane in their culture. For example, the traits looked for among the Danes were honesty, bravery, and humility. These three requirements in the Danes were but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He became upset as he saw that he couldn t deter their spirits no matter what he did and started to feel jealous of their self found purpose. He realized that through various ways the people attained meaning. In response to his confusion over their self discovered purpose, Grendel started listening to the Shaper s words when he spoke to the people shaping their very beliefs which confused Grendel even more on the meaning of life. After listening to the Shaper for a while, readers can see Grendel in a state of contradiction. He started off killing people as a simple, bestial monstrosity but in the end he is shown as quite intelligent and capable of choosing whether to kill or not. Soon, Grendel started seeking answers to his questions from a dragon. The dragon s very philosophy on life was that there is no meaning of life which started to influence Grendel. • 12. Living On The 1906 San Francisco Earthquake San Andreas Essay There are thousands of people living in San Francisco, without knowing that they are at a high risk of fatality at this moment. People should not be living too close or on a fault line, especially without the knowledge of the risks they are taking. The San Andreas fault line is a juncture of the Pacific and North America plates. The fault line is 800 miles long. It starts close to Eureka and ends above Brawly. Scientists predict that an earthquake can happen at the San Andreas fault line any moment right now and with very high likelihood of happening sometime before 2032. In the event of an earthquake, many lives will be lost, money will be spent, and in some cases, residents are ignorant of the peril. Many lives will be lost when the next earthquake strikes. During the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, more than 700 fatalities occurred. This could happen again if people continue to live on the fault line. While the earthquake will cause numerous amounts of death, the fires, and tsunamis the earthquake creates will cause even more destruction and devastation. Most of the deaths from the 1906 earthquake were mainly caused by the fires that the earthquake caused. When the next earthquake strikes, more people could die. Some may say that there are ... • 13. The Three Assumptions Of Confessionalism Many protestants, not brought up in liturgical church settings, find themselves taken aback and confused when first reading the Nicene Creed. This is true especially pertaining to what the creed says about the church. Unfortunately, in many Baptist, Pentecostal, and non denominational Churches, the Nicene Creed is unfamiliar or unknown to the majority of Church members. A common argument against the use of creeds is why use a creed when we ve got the bible? While this may seem to be rooted in a very high view of scripture, Carl R. Trueman suggests that it is possibly an unwitting capitulation to the spirit of the age. In short, Trueman argues that the three assumptions of confessionalism, the past being important and of positive relevance today, language as being a stable transmission of truth throughout time, and the need for a body or institution capable of composing and enforcing creeds, are all countercultural in today s world. Trueman s third assumption can sound like nails on a chalkboard for many Christians. A seemingly ironic distrust of religious organizations exists heavily within Christianity. This skepticism about the church is why one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church can be a difficult thing to say, let alone believe. However, it is a misunderstanding of the church that leads to distrusting the creed s validity when it comes to the Bride of Christ. This paper sets out to affirm that there truly is one, holy, catholic an apostolic church. Even in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These defense mechanisms can easily be identified across various cultures and time periods and appear throughout various types of literature. Particularly, Khaled Hosseini provides his protagonist, Amir, with numerous opportunities to express defense mechanisms, specifically displacement, in his praised novel The Kite Runner. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many times, when experiencing such a trauma, people or objects may develop a more profound meaning to an individual than they previously possessed. According to psychologists, if one defends their actions with displacement, they may allow others to become a symbol of their wrongdoings or their aspirations (McLeod). This enables the struggling individual to channel their focus towards a new symbol rather than towards what actually deserves the wrath of their spirit. Hosseini clearly demonstrates this effect in his literature; Hassan rises above the immaturity and reaches out to Amir in the months following his assault. Amir disregards Hassan s emotions and harasses him when they sit together underneath a pomegranate tree. He begins taking his anger out on his Hazara, and [he] hit[s] him with another pomegranate... Hit me back! [he] [spits]. Hit me back, goddamn you! (Hosseini 92). In Amir s mind, Hassan embodies exactly what he strives to be: loyal, honest, and strong. His inability to assume such a persona results in resentment toward Hassan and enables Hassan to symbolize Amir s failure. Amir, yet again, displaces his unhappiness regarding his own actions upon Hassan by beating him with the fruits, rather than damaging his own ego. As a result, the use of toxic herbicides, such as Roundup, has increased fifteenfold since GMOs were first introduced. (3) GM crops create toxins in the soil wherever they are planted. When toxic residues are released into the soil through the GM crop, toxins can prevent the growth of good bacteria that are essential for plant growth. Consequently, there are fewer soil bacteria, which are integral to the healthy soil for plants to grow without the use of chemical fertilizers. Nutrients are not returned to the soil, thus leaving the soil dry and void of all vital nutrients for growth. When GM crops are planted, generally in a monocrop fashion, traditional seeds are no longer used. Framers then become accustomed to the GMO seeds creating a cycle of dependence on GMO seeds and chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides to grow a single crop. In addition to soil issues, the irrigation used to grow GM foods naturally carries all of these problems into water sources and into the air. (3) This exposes different bacteria, insects, and animals to the same problems. Thus, creating pesticide resistant superbugs; the toxins originally used to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The plot centers around a young hobbit, Frodo Baggins, who must embark on a treacherous journey to destroy the One Ring. He is accompanied by Sam, Merry, and Pippin. Some of the other key characters include Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Boromir, and Gimli. A movie adaptation was released in 2001. Although it is tremendously rare, in this case, the movie adaptation more efficiently tells the story than the book. The book commences with Bilbo Baggins one hundred and eleventh birthday celebration (Tolkien 21 30). At the end of his party, Bilbo announces that he is going to depart. Suddenly, he mysteriously vanishes, and the crowd is astounded (Tolkien 30). Bilbo quickly runs to his home, grabs his belongings, and walks out the door, vowing never to return. For an example: throughout the book, Frodo and his companions spend a large portion of time wandering through the woods, avoiding the Black Riders who desire to seize the One Ring from Frodo (Tolkien 70 145). All of this time spent wandering is not important to the story and can quite quickly make the reader lose interest or become bored. While it is necessary to show Frodo traveling, it is not necessary to have seventy five pages dedicated to traveling through the woods. In the movie, the time spent traveling through the woods is very brief (Jackson). This helps the viewer stay engaged in the story. The movie keeps only the important events, which gives the viewer an easier understanding of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 39. Themes Of Voyeurism In Peeping Tom Helens blind mother, Mrs. Stephens, in the movie Peeping Tom, plays a crucial role in enticing Michael Powell s major themes of voyeurism and fear, and is the only character who is able to bring a deeper understanding of Mark as a person and the humanity he hides deep within his childhood. Film scholar Linda Williams has observed that silent films in the early 1900 s often portrayed the heroin to be naïve and figuratively or even physically blind. This rests on the concept of voyeurism and objectification of women as well as the fact that women exist solely for the purpose to be looked at and are not in the position to see for pleasure themselves. The true satisfaction attained during voyeuristic activities is from the victim being unaware of being watched; making a blind woman an ideal victim for a voyeur because of their inability to detect being watched. However, Mark does not kill Mrs. Stephens because even though he prepares to kill her at one point, he realizes that she is unable to watch her own death due to her blindness, thus not contributing to his film and experiment. This shows that Mark is not an ordinary Peeping Tom, and that his voyeurism stems primarily from his childhood and the filmed episodes of his life that his father directed. His perverted acts of voyeurism and violence are for purposes much larger than just his own pleasure. An important quote in the movie is when Mark asks, Do you know what the most frightening thing in the world is? and he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
