Visions Of Nature Reflection Report
Visions of Nature Reflection
Visions of Nature Reflection When the Visions of Nature project was first explained in the
beginning of the course I was immediately worried about how I would be able to create
something that represented the natural world in an artistic way. Personally, I am not the most
skilled in the world of art through visual and esthetically pleasing mediums. My artistic peak was
reached in kindergarten when I made an impressive elephant with finger paint before the school
s annual trip to the National Zoo. At first I struggled with deciding what type of project to
pursue. I wanted to do something meaningful and original, but the best I could think of was
either to make a video or maybe a collage. It wasn t until I was walking back to my dorm room
late one night when it presented itself, literally. It was a pretty peaceful evening when I was
passing the Dominion residence building. I did not see or hear anyone or anything around me. It
was completely silent when out of nowhere a shopping cart came rolling off the top set of stairs
and crashed onto the grass in front of me. After the cart had ceased to move it was completely
silent again. That is when I decided that I would make a shopping cart garden. It would be an
interesting piece that would capture people s attention and would not require me to torture my
fellow classmates with my sub par finger painting. The garden would give a tangible source for
observers that would create a larger impact than

Containment In The Korean War
The Korean War
(Dun, dun, dunnn) Imagine you are a North Korean soldier fighting in the Korean war, you feel
triumphant because you just invaded South Korea. When all of a sudden the US intervenes with
large guns and dangerous chemicals. How do you feel now? That was only a small scene in the
Korean War. The Cold Warwent along the United States s idea of containment. Containment is the
thought that communism was like a disease that needed to be contained. The communist parties
wanted to spread communism to many other countries. The Us didn t want communism to spread,
so they came up with the idea of containment. During this essay you will learn many factors of the
Korean War. In this writing, I will write about the tactics and strategies... Show more content on

Luckily there was a way to cut mortality rate, and that was done by MASH. According to CNN,
the US deaths totalled to 36,574 soldiers, and 103,284 injuries. South Korea ended up with
217,000 deaths while North Korea had 406,000 deaths. I concluded that both South and North
Korea suffered way more in total than the US did. Veterans can home with many injuries. Those
injuries included frostbite, trench foot, and many types of sicknesses. The VA states that the
injuries could become worse if they weren t treated, they could result in skin cancer, arthritis,
and amputations. Luckily, there was a way to reduce casualties and severe injuries from
becoming fatal, and that is MASH. MASH stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospitals. MASH
were located close to the front lines of battle. If a soldier was seriously hurt, he could be rushed
to a MASH were he would be treated. Once he was stable, he was flown to a hospital to be
treated. The US Army points out that MASH were developed in the Korean War, so death rates
went from 40 percent all the way to 2.5 percent. Many lives were saved due to MASH. Without
them the amount of deaths would be sky high. The end of the war concluded in many deaths and
injuries. But many lives were also saved by

My Love Of Education
Many people are on their own route towards what they consider receiving or claiming an
education. Whether it be a formal or informal education, we all approach obstacles that keep us
away from a direction we may have our mind or even our heart set on. In this essay, I will describe
my experiences in which my education has brought me close to losing my temper and self
confidence.
I used to groom the knots of her black and white coat that would pile up on her belly. But, one
day, I remember coming across a ball like lump under her skin. I moved it around to see if it
bothered her, but she just lay there with her belly up, waiting for me to finish. The next morning,
my dad and I took her to the vet and found out they were benign tumors, but should be removed
before they could turn into something more serious. My family struggled to find the funds to
remove the lumps. My love for animals, and particularly for my dog, Lyn Yang, quickly turned
into dreams of being able to remove the lumps myself. But at that point, I was helpless. I thought,
maybe one day, I d be a veterinarian and able to rid animals of their problems.
That was the beginning of the dream.
Growing up, I mostly stuck by my parents and they didn t stimulate my interest in animals. Even
with all the time we spent at the vet, I never thought to speak to a veterinarian. What did I know
about job shadowing? I now realize the importance of having real life role models, and someone to
speak to about my goals and aspirations. It s like Sonia Sotomayor said, When a young person,
even a gifted one, grows up without proximate living examples of what she may aspire to become,
her goal remains abstract.
In those days, in my environment, my dream to become a veterinarian gradually diminished. So
much diminished during my teenage years. I found my mind shrinking. I could feel my dream
getting smaller and smaller. Instead of choosing a profession that could drive me, I let me
community drive me instead and it got the best of me.
Life is different when you don t have a dream. I spent a lot of time in the streets. I had this small
minded definition of success, particularly when everyone around me was making fast money. The
slow developing value of an education

British Colonies Differences
Causes of the Differences Between the British and Their Colonies in America Shawn M. Meyer
Ohio Christian University October 28, 2017 Causes of the Differences Between the British and
Their Colonies in America The colonies of North America were ready to rebel from King George
III in the mid 1770s. There was a sense of Americanness amongst the colonists that created a feeling
of separation between the British Colonies of North America and the citizens of the Kingdom
living in the British Isles. Several factors contributed to the sense of Americanness that the colonists
felt which consisted of political, social, and economic factors. By creating a feeling of separation,
the colonies no longer viewed themselves as British, which would cause them to rebel from King
George III. One political factor that contributed to the sense of Americanness was the belief of no
taxation without representation. Since the taxes were being imposed by Parliament, and Parliament
contained no representatives from the colonies, the colonists viewed that the Parliament did not
have the authority to tax them, thus creating the idea of no taxation without representation. This
created a sense of Americanness by showing that the colonists did not feel like a part of Great
Britain, since they were not being represented in the British Parliament. Another political factor that
contributed to the sense of Americanness was the enacting of the Coercive Acts. The Coercive Acts
consisted of

Example Of A Renaissance Man
An example of a Renaissance man is Leonardo da Vinci, he was an artist, inventor, and scholar.
In this time period, there are still many of these well rounded individuals who live multi tasking
lives. The criteria for a current Renaissance man would be they have excelled at more than one
thing in their lifetime. They would also have to be good at things that are not in the same
category, for example if you can direct, star, and do the lighting for a play, then you should not
be considered a Renaissance man . An accurate example is that they would have to do public
speaking, be an astronaut, and have a job as a biophysicist. Someone like this does exist and his
name is Story Musgrave. Franklin Story Musgrave is an American physician and a retired
NASA astronaut. He is a public speaker and consultant to both Disney s Imagineering group and
Applied Minds in California. In 1996 he became only the second astronaut to achieve the record
of six spaceflights. . Musgrave was born August 19, 1935 on a dairy farm in Stockbridge, MA.
At such a young age he was helping his family with repairs from small leaks to fixing the motor on
a tractor. Story Musgrave is a motivational speaker who speaks out to crowds about his experiences
as an astronaut, marine, surgeon, scientist and literary critic. . Story s NASA astronaut experience

Nanny became who she was because of her slave past and many other experiences and she uses

Manifestation of Communism
Marx, K. F. Engels Bourgeois and proletarians
Tom Considine
Marx, K. F. Engels (1972 [1848], p.1) said The history of all hitherto existing society is the
history of class struggles. (Marx, K. F. Engels 1972 [1848], p.1) This is the opening text from
Marx and it is the theme of the rest of the chapter. Marx writes of the oppression of the proletarians
and how the capitalist bourgeoisie have commodified them. He describes his disapproval for the
capitalists stating that there is revolt from the proletariats due to the exploitation that was taking
place, this would be the same for any capitalist society. Throughout the text there is the overriding
idea that society would benefit with equality and public ownership (socialism). ... Show more

Marx is trying to convey that capitalism is a poor way for a society to operate however i can see that
this method would be more efficient and competitive, thus increasing the productivity of the
economy.
Marx s idea is that property should be publicly owned, individuals should cooperate, production
is social and everything is shared equally. Marx, K. F. Engels (1972 [1848], p.42) said Of all the
classes that stand face to face with the Bourgeois today, the proletariat alone is a really
revolutionary class (Marx, K. F. Engels 1972 [1848], p.42). Marx believes this is because the
laborers where the individuals who created socialism because they wanted to fight for their
rights and become equal. They succeeded because they were the majority and therefore had a
power over the Bourgeois because with the labour there would be no capitalism. The first reason
I disagree with socialism is because price signals become distorted or absent, the market price for
goods and services cannot be rationally allocated if the individuals aren t earning income in a free
market. If all individuals receive an equal income and everything is shared then what is the
incentive to work harder? If there is no incentive to earn a higher wage then individuals may be less
motivated. Decreased motivation means that there will be a decrease in efficiency and thus a
decrease in production, therefore the economy will suffer. The last argument against socialism is
that it the advancement of

VITA Reflective Essay
My experience from VITA was different from what I had expected. Initially, I did not know what
was expected from me. It seemed that everything was structured and we had to follow a myriad
amount of rules, but the first day of VITA proved everything wrong. Working with clients,
experiencing realistic situations, is what essentially taught me how to do a successful tax return.
One huge impact I learned instantly is how you communicate with your client. I had to strengthen
my communication skills because I needed to communicate with my clients in vocabulary that I
knew they would understand. Communicating with a fellow peer, who is knowledgeable about
taxes, is a different situation that of when you are speaking with a client. A client most likely
doesn t know the exact, in depth details about taxes, which can lead to complications and
confusion, so I had to adjust my lexicon to fit the clients needs and understanding. Also,
working with partners was great. It gave me an opportunity to work with others and solve
problems in a group. Sometimes, when one of us didn t know the answer, the other one would
step in and help. Also, I felt like the class was a gigantic supportive group because we would ask
and answer each other questions, when we a confused about a topic or area. I am glad that I ... Show

worked with understood that I was just a student. Most of the time, they were fascinated we chose
to do accounting because taxes seem revolting to them. Creating a proper relationship was what

Bias In History
History is the version of past events that people have decided to agree upon
Throughout time, history has been manipulated and changed by those who write it. No one person
is ever truly objective and by that respect, no historian is unbiased. Those who write history often
have been the victors of battle, or swayed to one side of a story with a bias often in their favour.
With the introduction of photography, one could assume that history could not be re written, yet
since its birth, as with history itself, photography has been manipulated, staged and edited to portray
an entirely alternate account of the events of the past. Even Documentary photography can have
opinions influencing it at times. However is it fair to say that history comes ... Show more content

The first is that the negative itself was cut up and reassembled. He would have cut out Trotsky
and replaced the blank space with another negative from the site the original negative was taken
before light exposure. Doing this method would be tricky and would take meticulous
craftsmanship, so it was very easy to get wrong. An easier, more likely option, is that they edited
the image by creating a photogram. To do this they would have used paper or another material to
block the light in the shape of Trotsky, giving the illusion of a complete image in just one
exposure. This method is a little less delicate and can be achieved via trial and error rather
easily. David King who researched about the censorship that Stalin created in Communist Russia
said that Whatever the state considered undesirable was withdrawn from view. In Stalin s time,
this was a monumental task Stalin had a view of exactly how he wanted Russia to be ran, and in
order to achieve that he thought that he had to hide and present what he wanted the public to see
rather than what actually is happening. Trotsky had challenged his views and felt betrayed by the
fact that he did not completely agree with how things were to be ran in Russia, so removed him
from images to sway the public into agreeing that Trotsky was a traitor and should be exiled.

Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Systems Theory Analysis
Introduction
Development is the act or process of growth. Developmental psychology is the scientific study of
how and why human beings change over the course of their life. The study of developmental
theories can be traced back to the early 1900s. Over the years, psychologists and other scientists
have developed a variety of theories to explain observations and discoveries about child
development. Theories of development provide a framework for thinking about human growth,
development, and learning. By using examples of ones own life span, from beginning to present,
and analyzing life events using theoretical models, one can further explore certain theories and
whether or not personal life experiences supports or denies theoretical models of development
across the lifespan.
Developmental Theorists and Theories
Urie Bronfenbrenner developed the ecological systems theory to explain how a child s environment
influences a child s development. In his model, there is a hierarchy of influence levels. The
ecological systems model acknowledges the ongoing, necessary, and intrinsic interactions of a
unique individual with others and the environment.
Bronfenbrenner puts the child, who comes with its own temperament and conditions, in the middle,
or micro system. The nuclear family, or meso system, has the greatest influence on a child s

Biomechanics Of Pitching A Ball With Tremendous Velocity...
Biomechanics Of Pitching
What do biomechanics and pitching have in common? Pitching a ball with tremendous velocity and
accuracy is extremely difficult. The action depends on how the pitcher controls and uses his body
to thrust the ball from his hand. Biomechanics is the sport science field that applies the laws of
mechanics and physics to human performance in order to gain a greater understanding of
performance in athletic events through modeling, simulation, and measurement. (Wood, 2010, p.1)
Biomechanics is the study that focuses on movement of the human body. In order to optimize his or
her performance, a pitcher must understand and utilize the biomechanic principles that contribute
to his or her success. In biomechanics, the human body is viewed as a machine, or mechanical
system, subject to the restrictions of the laws of physics. The body is broken down, figuratively of
course, into a collection of body segments which include the forearm, foot, thigh, and so on.
Connected to one another by pivoting joints, they are moved by muscular and/or extremely applied
forces. The idea is to study the human body in action as it goes through some particular movement
in order to isolate the various individual motions that make up the activity, to measure the speeds of
body segments and the forces that act on them, and in general to acquire accurate data on all aspects
of the movement. (Brancazio, 1984, p.18) It has been estimated that approximately a hundred

Ox Vs Mac
Lots of people think that Apple Macintosh computers are way too overpriced. They are a little
bit, but the overall user experience contributes to that price. OSX, the operating system used on
Macs, is more intuitive than Windows 7 (which is the most widely used OS right now). Apple
designs OSX and Macs to work flawlessly together. This means there aren t any hardware to OS
compatibility issues. OSX is also easier to learn and use than Windows 7. To update to a new
version, all you have to do is download the update from the app store, run it, and wait about 10
minutes for it to install. There are drawbacks, though. Since Macs make up only 10% of the
computer market, developers create applications for Windows, first. If you need to run a Windows
based and can t find an alternative, you can download and application called Parallels, which runs
any OS within a window on your Mac.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Types Of Fraud And The Healthcare Industry
TYPES OF FRAUD Healthcare fraud is costly for everybody, as it harms the reputation of the
institution or physician committing it, and financially damages the patient being affected.By
definition fraud may be defined as intentionally employing surprise, trickery, cunning, deception and
unfair ways by which one party cheats another party out of financial resources. In order to educate a
healthcare manager regarding fraud , many aspects of fraud must be assessed. This includes the
types of fraud, the consequences that come with fraud, the individual(s) committing them,
techniques to prevent fraud, and why the healthcare industry is vulnerable to fraud. As the
healthcare industry begins to expand its horizons, by featuring more staff and patients, the types of
frauds that are committed also rise in number and complexity. One of the many consequences that
derives from fraud within the healthcare system includes an increase in the cost of healthcare itself.
In order to limit and analyze fraud that encompasses the entirety of the healthcare industry, it is
necessary to assess the different types of frauds and in doing so also understand the method of
reimbursement involving the professionals and members of the health care industry. Since a
majority of these reimbursements are paid by insurances or through government programs, a
program known as coding was created in order to organize and properly pay off these
reimbursements(Marilyn Price, Donna Norris, 2009). One of the many

1.1 Explain The Concept Of Safeguarding
The concept of safeguarding includes many different factors. A major one of these is family
circumstances. When looking at the parents/carers of children, the health of those in charge can be
a very important factor when looking at the wellbeing of children. Parents who may be struggling
due to their own health problems, either physical or mental, may as a result have difficulty in
caring for their own children. In some circumstances, parents/carers may be struggling with
substance misuse and drug addiction. This may result in a failure to provide for their
childrenâ€TMs needs adequately or even just to provide a safe home environment. A parents
/carer responsibilities in relation to their children involve many important decisions such as the
nutritional value of their meals, access to health services... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Poverty is another factor child protection within the wider field of safeguarding children. Poverty
can have very damaging effects upon the health and overall wellbeing of children. Growing up
within poverty can mean being cold, hungry and not being able to join in with social activities with
their friends. A study by the Child Poverty Action Group, (CPAG), found that 3.5 million children
are living in poverty in the UK and that children from low income families are more likely to die at
birth, suffer chronic illness during childhood or have a disability. They also found that children
living in poverty are almost twice as likely to live in bad, unsuitable housing which has a
significant impact upon their physical and mental wellbeing as well as impacting upon their
educational progress. (CPAG 2013)
When looking at child protection within the wider field of safeguarding, cultural practices need to
be taken in to account. There are some cultural practices within some countries that are considered
to be a form of exploitation by many international organisations. In some parts of the world,

are the contrast between the wave and the peak of the highest mountain in Japan, Mt. Fuji. With a

Should Citizens be able to Own Exotic Animals? What exactly is an Exoctic animal ? An animal

fact that these animals are far to dangerous for any person who isn t a zoologist to care for.
Exotic animals aren t domesticated, in other words, they are not tamed. That fact is what many

Crushing Poem Analysis
the poem Crushing is a narrative with a central theme of the youthful years of under privileged
juveniles with vivid images of theft, racing, intoxication, and calming ending of a beach vision.
The poem is a wholesome picture that goes from being wild in the beginning to a calming image
of a beach and stars at the end, which is also a technique of the poem that is taking readers on a

evening beach scene. This could be represented by the core question of the poem that, the
youthfulnessof someone is intoxicating when someone gets lost in translation and becomes dazed
and confused.
The poet is reminiscing about his glory days of being very intoxicated and rambunctious in the
youth, that are going by too fast. On to the context, lines 1 5 demonstrate the rebelling youth of
all young people. In the lines, they steal cars, cigarettes, and crates of fine french wine. They are
rebellious, taking in all of society s adult vices of smoking, drinking, and wooing women. They
mention borrowing the Mercedes, which really means that they stole or took it without permission.
The bulletproof Mercedes makes them feel as if they are untouchable like a government official.
The youthful people in the poem have a sense that they are invincible, even from the police, which
they describe them as standing beside their cars and wave (Line 10). They think they are being

How To Write A Descriptive Essay On Malabar Farm
Mount Jeez overlooks the Malabar Farm and much of the Pleasant Valley. In its actuality it really
is just a big hill. Mount Jeez lays in a great line, like a spine of land, providing a crystal clear view
of the sky. The rumbling and roaring white wave surge down the mountain side, at some point the
wrinkled mountainseems to be cocoon quite whenever a right of snow covered the sky punching the
mountain. During the winterseason, the snow festoons the mountain peak and embalmed with the
tiaras of the powdery snow, while the foot of the mountain is covered with mist in the morning. The
purple sky reflected the beautiful and flaky snow that covers the mountain like a blanket while
silence remains in the air as the animals sleep and hibernate in the winter. The mountain normally

The Pros And Cons Of Cybercloying
Every year, billions of dollars is being lost due to cybercrime and security. Harassment, Identity
theft, online predators, and ransom are some of the most cybercrimes being committed, that s
causing the most harm to billions of people.
First, there are many forms of harassment that can take place online. There is cyberbullying,
cyberstalking, and internet trolling. Although all three deals with harassment, they all mean
something different. Cyberbullying is bullying that takes place via social media, apps, gaming,
share content, text and etc. It includes posting, sharing, commenting, and sometimes even reacting
to false or even mean comments regarding another person. No Bullying: The World s Authority on
Bulling, reported that in 2016, over nine million people have looked for some type of help or
asked for advice regarding cyber bullying (NoBullying Bullying CyberBullying Resources, 2017).
Bully victims are between two to nine times more likely to attempt to commit suicide. It is
important to take note of this because the suicide age is starting to become younger as years go
one. For example, a eight year old Cincinnati, OH boy had committed suicide in his house.
Gabriel Taye committed suicide because he was being bullied at school by his peers and at his
school there was an incident where on camera you can see one of his peers hitting him causing
him to go unconscious. It was unclear if the child was being bullied online also because
investigation is still in

Is The Self Mutilation Is Characterized By Autoagressive...
Self mutilation is characterized by autoagressive behaviors without intent to die, and is not
uncommonly encountered in clinical practice, with an estimated prevalence of 4.3% in general
psychiatric patients. The highest incidences of self mutilation have been reported in prisoners,
institutionalized teenagers with antisocial traits, and among those diagnosed with autism,
schizophrenia, intellectual disabilities, and traumatic brain injuries [1].
Major self mutilation is a rare, severe manifestation of deliberate self harm that results in perpetual
loss of function or capacity of an organ and constitutes a medical/surgical and psychiatric
emergency[2]. Notably the act of major self mutilation usually is associated with delusions or
hallucinations [3].Auto emasculation, a subtype of major self mutilation, typically manifests in the
context of schizophrenia[4] , and presents a significant management challenge for both medical
/surgical and psychiatric providers, in part because of the lack of clinical guidelines for
pharmacological management.
Here, we describe a patient with schizoaffective disorder who presented with status post auto
emasculation in context of severe psychosis. While penile reattachment was unsuccessful, the
patient s psychotic symptoms responded well to clozapine, a third line antipsychotic medication that
has been demonstrated to be effective for treatment of aggressive behaviors [5]. To our knowledge,
we are the first to report a case of a patient

Minors and the Death Penalty
A.Should the death penalty be given to minors? The two groups against this issue, are the
religious and medical groups. They believe they are too young to know what they have done. The
medical groups believe adolescents are less developed than adults and should not be held to the
same standards. . The opposing side, held mostly by state officials, feel if they are old enough to
commit the crimethey, old enough to get the punishment, including death.
B. The very first execution of a minor was in1642 with Thomas Graunger in Plymouth Colony,

case acknowledged age as a mitigating factor in death sentencing, but, in an opinion written by
Justice Antonin Scalia, said the national climate didn t rule out the death penalty simply because of
the age of the offender.
G.The Kantian view of death penalty is a retributive view that sees the criminal as a parasite who
has accepted the benefits of a legal system while refusing to pay the price of self restraint. Such a
person owes the law abiding a debt for he has gained an unfair advantage over them. Punishment is
the means of exacting the debt (in kind) and is a demand for justice the restoration of a condition of
equality between the law breaker and society. Just punishment is binding and not to be mitigated by
any utilitarian consideration. Kant also believes in blood guilt and the necessity for cleansing
criminal actions.
H. This issue is pretty touchy to me, because i could support both side of minor being put to

Abuse of Mobile Phones by Teenagers
Have you ever buried your face in your smartphone for hours? Have you missed out on events or

The first Apple iPhone was only released ten years ago, and it is becoming a bigger issue for this
generation s teenagers. Teenagers are abusing modern technology it s affecting them and others
negatively because it encourages irritability and depression, discourages face to face interaction,
and puts teenager s privacy and safety at risk.
To begin, technology affects teenagers mindset negatively. First, it can result in a lack of
chemicals, such as melatonin, a chemical triggered in your brain that helps you reach a state of
relaxation. This can be faulty to a regular sleep basis of a teenager, and it can take away from the
eight to ten hours of sleep that teenagers need, according to multiple studies. According to Dr .
Lawrence J. Epstein, People who have problems with sleep are at increased risk for developing
emotional disorders, depression, and anxiety. Not only does sleep trigger anger, but
competitiveness does as well; multiple forms of social media support this idea that having more
friends is better, even if you don t know who they are. The more followers you have, the more

most recent Bond films to have been released in 1999. The two film posters are distinctively
different, which would be expected as the films were released decades apart from eachother.
The first poster for Dr No shows that James Bond is a new, never seen before film as the logo 007

whereas in the poster for the World Is Not Enough the 007 logo is only used once in small lettering

This also may have something to do with the fact that in the 90 s, the first female head of MI5 was
introduced into the films.
The genre of the film is far more evident in the poster for The World Is Not Enough . The images
used connote an action film that has many different narratives. The poster is lively and eye
catching and is full of bright, vivid images. The poster fits in very well with the title of the film,
as it looks like James Bond is going to embark on some international mission, the image of some
of the continents in flames shows this. There are also several images circling around the main
characters in the film, which look futuristic and scientific and feature explosions and car chases.
Comparing the two posters also shows how technology and science has progressed through the
decades and this is very apparent in the 1999 film poster, which looks far more advanced, as far as
gadgets and weapons go.
The Dr No poster does not specify the genre so well. It could be for several different genres. It
indicates that it could possibly be a spy or mystery film, which is partly true of the James Bond
movies.

Density And Sg By Hydrometer Method
Density and SG by Hydrometer Method
Objective
The purpose of this practical is to determine the specific gravity and density of samples of
methylated spirit of different concentrations, using a hydrometer.
Introduction
Theory
Specific gravity (SG) is defined as the ratio between the density of a liquid to the density of water
at a temperature of 4oC and pressure of 1 atm. It is of great importance when quoting the
specific gravity of a substance to refer to the temperature and pressure at which the measurement
was taken, especially because the density of water tends to vary significantly with temperature.
For example, at 15oC the density of water is 0.9991 g/cm3, while at 4oC the density is at its
maximum of 1 g/cm3. Pressure, on the other hand, is almost always 1 atm. It is most common to
refer specific gravity to a temperature and pressure of 4oC and 1 atm.
Hydrometer
The hydrometer is an instrument usually made of glass, which is used to measure the specific
gravity or density of a liquid. It is composed of a cylindrical stem over a bulb that is weighted with
a small amount either mercury or lead to ensure it floats upright.
The function of a hydrometer is a result of Archimedes principle which states that any body which
is partially or completely submerged in a fluid at rest, is acted on by an upward buoyant force
which is equal in magnitude to the weight of the fluid displaced by the body. Consequently, the
hydrometer will sink further, the lower the density of the

Coalbrookdale Company s works in Shropshire. His engine had groundbreaking boiler pressure

The Importance Of A Business Continuity And Disaster...
There is need to ensure that there is continuity of information and adequate recovery of the same in
business continuity planning and disaster recovery processes. Individuals and firms therefore have
to improve their incident response capability in light of increasing attacks that are cyber security
related. These attacks have become diverse and more disruptive while causing greater damage. The
number of securityrelated incidents cannot be completely reduced, but the incident response
capability of individuals and firms can be improved to enable them to detect incidents promptly,
minimize loss, mitigate any weaknesses exploited during such incidents and restore information
and IT services back to normal (NIST 2012). The objective of this essay is to outline the
importance of having a business continuity and disaster recoveryplan for information systems, the
technical and managerial challenges that can be faced and solutions that can be used to solve the
same.
It is important to have business continuity plan and disaster recovery for information systems since
these attacks often target business data and sometimes personal data. It also enables an individual
or a firm to have an automatic way of responding to incidents in a systematic way using laid down
methodology. This is key in reducing the theft or loss of information that would have occurred. In
addition, it reduces the time in which services are disrupted due to these incidents.
The other reason why business

There is no proof of how much countries need to reduce the production of Greenhouse gases, but
since years ago that scientists have been studying attempts to solve te Global Warming and avoid

The Effect Of Heat Transmission On The Heat
Introduction:
Heat transmission is the process through which heat is transferred in swap of thermal energy that
exists between the physical systems, depending on the pressure and temperature by dissipating heat.
The essential modes of transferring the heat are convection, conduction or diffusion and radiation.
Heat is transferred from region of high temperature to low temperature region.
1.0 Heat transfer
The various modes of heat transfer are as follows:
1.1 Conduction: Conduction mode of heat transfer is the process in which transfer of energy is taken
place between the objects that are having the physical existence. In this process heat is spreads
through a matter when faster molecules and atoms run over with the slower neighboring atoms and
molecules. Faster atoms and molecule can transfer their little energy known as kinetic energy to the
slower ones. Conduction is also known as diffusion.
1.2 Convection Convection is also a fundamental mode of transferring the heat. In this process heat
is transferred from one place to another through the movement of fluids. Fluids are those substance
which are not having any fixed shape. These substances include liquid and gas state of matter.
(edinformatics.com, 2015)
1.3 Radiation In the previous forms of heat transfer modes heat is transferred from one place to
another or from one substance to another. But in radiation electromagnetic waves are involved in
the transfer of heats. In this process no particular substance or

Personal Strengths And Personal Types
You have people all around the world and none of them are the same. You have people with high
tempers, you got the lazy people that don t ever do anything, and the over achievers and everyone
is about in the middle of those three. I have taken a personality test and learned that I have an
Executive personality type, if you do not know what that means I am like the boss in a business.
This trait is held by less than 11% of the population. I am stubborn, organized, and judgmental.
My personality showed that one of my weaknesses is stubbornness, for example they are reluctant
to trust other opinions . Sometimes being stubborn can be helpful and other times it can be hurtful,
for example if you want to go over to your friends house but your mom says no sometimes if you
keep trying she might say yes. Or like the other times she gets annoyed and tells you to go away.
There are three things that being stubborn makes harder for me: trying to be flexible, getting
along with my parents, and shopping. Trying to be flexible is hard because if my mom makes
something for dinner that I don t really like or that I just am not feeling, I will eat cereal or
somethings else. Another reason is trying to get along with my parents, because I always think

life of Nobody Owens, or Bod, a boy whose family has been ruthlessly slaughtered. Bod crawls to
the graveyard next to his house, where the inhabitant ghosts take him in and adopt him, where he
lives until Bod decides that he wants to live with his own kind: the living. While it is true that all
books open up worlds of literature, no book does it better than the Graveyard bookof leaving you
with an utterly unforgettable experience you will never find in any other book. The Graveyard
book accomplishes this task thorough it s exhilarating, hard to put down nature, it s age appropriate
writing style, it s inspirational plotline, and lastly, it s extremely creative ideas and various concepts
found throughout the book.
A book, no matter what kind of book, always has an age range. In this case, the Graveyard book s
age range is completely open to all ages, especially our age range. While The Graveyard Book
will entertain people of all ages, it s especially a tale for children, says NYtimes book reviewer
Monica Edinger. That makes it age appropriate, therefore allowing you connect deeply with the
main characters, most notably Bod. At the beginning, you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There s no other way to put the innovative way of the Graveyard book into words. It s concepts
are simple, but to the point and terrifyingly clever. (for example, the Fade: An ability that is used
to become invisible, only works when no one is looking). As well as this, despite the fact that the
Graveyard book is derived from another book, Gaiman still manages to be at his absolute best,
creating something original from a derived plotline. The Jungle Book has many characters,
problems, resolutions, all adding up to an excellent story, but the Graveyard Book takes it to a
whole new level, by adding all sorts of exceedingly exemplary writing, such

Bowling Alley Research Paper
I was practically raised in the bowling alley. Considering my mother started bowling around the
time I was born, I was practically born into one. For as long as I can remember Friday nights were
known as bowling night. Over the years 30 Lanes had become a second home to me.
While I did attend other bowling alleys with my mom. Such as Leisure Lanes on Tuesday s,
Miller Time on Wednesdays or Thursdays at the old Town Country that burned down in 10. 30
Lanes is where I feel especially nostalgic. From the multiple diagonally spaced tables with their
gray countertops, covered in multicolored bowling pins. To the uncomfortable lighter gray seats
that surround them. And of course I can t forget the one big leather spinning chair at every table

Digital Divide And Stereotypes
Introduction
Firstly recorded in the report of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration
(NTIA) survey in 1995, (Servon, 2002), the term Digital Divide presents an interesting quandary of
information and communication technologies (ICT) disparities among countries in the world,
especially between developed and developing countries. Many reports even showed that access to
ICT in these information have and have nots countries was unequally even (Bridges.org, 2001;
Fuchs Horak, 2008; Norris, 2001 ; Van Dijk, 2009). Nonetheless, though inequities in access to ICT
are most evident across countries, the same pattern is found within the countries themselves. In the
U.S, for example, the gap in ICT access does exist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my poster, I used an image of old lady from Swongled Media (2008) to represent the concept of
digital immigrants. Prensky (2001a, p. 8 ), in his first article Digital Natives, Digital Immigrants
, describes this term as those older generations who were not born into the digital world . After
years of living in pre digital lifestyles (Selwyn, 2009, p. 369 ), the digital immigrants have been
transformed into a group of asylum seekers in digital media world (Byne Ross, 2007, p. 4 ). It
means that these older people are forced to adapt if they really want to be connected. Likewise,
even though some of digital immigrants can use technology, most of them still consider it as
something foreign (Kennedy et al., 2008). Consequently, the digital immigrants may find online
experience anarchic, superficial and/or threatening (Dufresne Bethke, 2005), due to their
entrenched value in traditional discourse of information gathering. O Hara and Steven (2006, p.
88) even claims that the digital immigrants require more attention due to their ICT skills which
are second hand, slightly forced and has to be learned . In other words, digital immigrants are
seen as groups of people who are older and less familiar as well as uncomfortable with technology.
Following to that, the divergent notion of digital immigrants is digital natives. I portrayed this
concept by using an image from Rachel

This brings customers value while they may not really notice it. An easy way for Amazon to
experience a great value proposition for its supply chain is always to control their products. If
amazon could possibly ensure their inventory is always fully stocked, nevertheless, not
overflowing, that may transfer on absolutely free themes. If the inventory is totally stocked, the
value to be able to customer is greater when they have the options to acquire different products.
When the inventory is stuffed, or depleted, absolutely free themes may loose importance as items
can start to cost more as the expense of possessing inventory boost, but not possessing enough
product may cause an increase popular causing an raise in cost. The value linked to the supply
chain is usually as important as the value linked to the demand

The Human Need For Personal Thoughts
The story was told by a non participant selective omniscient narrator speaking in third person point
of view, which was perfect because it enabled reader to understand the human need for personal
thoughts and feeling of each character clearly by jumping from one to another. The narrator guided
the readers to the thought of Alcee, wrote that he had unthinkingly drawn her into his arms, had
aroused all the old time infatuation and desire for her flesh. (Chopin 112) Alcee, the He in this
sentence still loved her , Calixta, since their separation. Due to the physical contact, Alcee did not
want to hide his desire to Calixta anymore. When they kissed, the narrator stated the thought of
Calixta Oh! She remembered; for in Assumption he had kissed her (Chopin 112). The narrator
disclosed that they had been in love in Assumption and both were passionate. Because of this
evidence, reader was able to understand that Calixta was in struggle between traditional family
value and the desire of adultery. Apparently, Calixta was inviting his lips (Chopin 112) and
crushing on Alcee. Calixta betrayed her morality proactively and brought the massive harm to her
innocent family. At this moment, woman held the dominant right emotionally. It critiqued women

Innovation at International Food Essay
Abstract This paper provides a written analysis of the Innovation at International Foods (IFG)
case study. The paper will provide an analysis of the issues that Josh Novak, the new team
manager at IFG is facing with the existing staff. Josh has come for Glow Foods which was a
smaller company that has been purchased by IFG. Josh was retained due to the innovative ideas
that produced significant growth at Glow Foods by reaching the younger market. It has now
become his job at IFG to do the same. However, as Josh is becoming more acclimated to the way
things are done at IFG, he and his team are being bogged down with processes and procedures
that are in place. The team does not believe that will be able to do the job they were hired... Show

They need to communicate their ideas effectively while addressing the concerns of the others.
Josh s team is a group of young and enthusiastic people; they are very talented and can more than
succeeded with the task at hand. However, they must take the concerns seriously and be
prepared to address them. In order for Josh and his team to overcome the uncertainty, they must
be clear with their objectives, they have to be easily understood by the rest of the team and the
organization so that they will be perceived as being achievable. When Josh addressed the team
and stated that they do not know the benefits, because they have not done this before (p. 233).
They did not gain any support for the team, and their understanding of IFG s strategy and vision
may be questioned. Uncertainty with Change One of the issues that is prevalent, but not
directly stated is the uncertainty with change. This is an issue with the existing staff and the
new staff as well. Josh comes from a smaller company where he had the ability to be innovative
and brainstorm new ways to help Glow Foods, he was able to implement quickly. At Glow
Foods they understood the power of social media tools and they took advantage of what they had
to offer. However at IFG, they need permission to even access Instant Messaging (IM) or
FaceBook (p. 232). Politics came into play as the team did not understand the protocol and did speak

William Zinsser s The Transaction
When reading The Transaction I found myself relating to both men but in different instances.
While Dr. Brock seems to enjoy writing as a means of letting go , it seems William Zinsser does it
primarily for professional reasons rather than for a sense of enjoyment. Personally, I find myself
writingfor both ways and seeing the task of writing relatably to both Dr. Brock and William
Zinsser. For example, when I am at home and am writing stories or writing casually about
something I m interested in, I usually enjoy it and find it relatively easy. When I m writing a
story and run out of ideas I usually let it sit a couple of days until I come up with something new
just as Dr. Brock does. However, when I m writing a research paper or an essay/assignment

Evolution of Computer Technology
INTRODUCTION:
Several centuries have been taken toward the development of inventions made by different people
into modern forms. Single inventors rarely bring out modern invention. What we have now as
electronic devices (the computers) are inventions of several scientists, mathematicians and
engineers from different centuries. For the purpose of this mini research key terms like evolution,
technology and computer shall be considered, not forgetting to take a careful look at the evolution
of these inventions from different centuries/years to our present generation starting from the earliest
known device. The characteristics of these devices from generation to generation and their
classification according to sizes, functions and uses shall ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

RAM also stores the result of a processed data, waiting to be transferred to output device or
secondary storage device. It is a temporary memory and the content of RAM is erased when a
computer is turned off and data stored in it can instantly be accessed.
The storage of RAM is expressed in megabytes and its capacity or size limited. An area of RAM
set aside for storage of most frequently accessed information is the CACHE memory. It is a
temporary high speed data holding area between the memory and the central processing unit.
RAM has four parts: the conventional memory which consist of the first 640KB of RAM, used
by operating system and device drivers; Upper Memory Bound (UMB) located between 640KB and
1MB of RAM, used by device drivers: extended memory (XMS) which include direct access
memory above 1MB; and Expended memory: a special part of ram that is up to 32MB and exists
outside the conventional memory.
Read only memory (ROM) is preloaded with data and software that never changes, so the central
processing unit (CPU) can only read it.ROM is typically used to store the computer s initial start up
instructions. It retains its data indefinitely. In a personal computer (PC), ROM contains a
specialized program called the BIOS that orchestrates loading the computer s operating system from
the hard disc drive into RAM whenever the computer is turn on

Even the contracts are expressly agreed to by the parties, those terms need to be inter preted and
the court must ascertain the terms and meaning of the parties to the con tract. According to the

that applies to written contracts. Parol evidence is evidence pertaining to the agreement that is not

Brewster Heights Packing, the buyer entered a contract with the seller for the purchase of apple
packing machinery. The district court entered judg ment in favor of the seller on its breach of
contract claim. On appeal, the court af firmed. The buyer contended that both it and the seller
intended at the time of their con tract to be bound by their written agreement and to prior oral
discussions. The buyer contended that the largest portion of its damages stemmed from the loss of
an orally bargained for system. The court held that a clause in the parties contract prohibited the
inclusion of any understandings or representations not expressly included in the con tract. It
appeared that the buyer intended to use the parol evidence not to explain or to supplement the
contract, but rather to contradict the limitation of warranties contained in the contract. The court
concluded that the buyer s counterclaims of fraud and viola tion of the Washington Consumer
Protection Act failed because they did not give rise to the independent tort of fraud and there was
insufficient evidence to demonstrate an ef fect on other consumers or a real and substantial
potential for repetition of unfair con duct. However, there is an exception to use parol evidence
rule. In Hull Dobbs, Inc. v. Mallicoat, the court stated that: The parol evidence rule does not apply
where the parol evidence in no way contradicts or alters the terms of the written contract but the
representation or statements are made as an inducement to the contract and form the basic and

  • 2. Visions Of Nature Reflection Report Visions of Nature Reflection Visions of Nature Reflection When the Visions of Nature project was first explained in the beginning of the course I was immediately worried about how I would be able to create something that represented the natural world in an artistic way. Personally, I am not the most skilled in the world of art through visual and esthetically pleasing mediums. My artistic peak was reached in kindergarten when I made an impressive elephant with finger paint before the school s annual trip to the National Zoo. At first I struggled with deciding what type of project to pursue. I wanted to do something meaningful and original, but the best I could think of was either to make a video or maybe a collage. It wasn t until I was walking back to my dorm room late one night when it presented itself, literally. It was a pretty peaceful evening when I was passing the Dominion residence building. I did not see or hear anyone or anything around me. It was completely silent when out of nowhere a shopping cart came rolling off the top set of stairs and crashed onto the grass in front of me. After the cart had ceased to move it was completely silent again. That is when I decided that I would make a shopping cart garden. It would be an interesting piece that would capture people s attention and would not require me to torture my fellow classmates with my sub par finger painting. The garden would give a tangible source for observers that would create a larger impact than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Containment In The Korean War The Korean War (Dun, dun, dunnn) Imagine you are a North Korean soldier fighting in the Korean war, you feel triumphant because you just invaded South Korea. When all of a sudden the US intervenes with large guns and dangerous chemicals. How do you feel now? That was only a small scene in the Korean War. The Cold Warwent along the United States s idea of containment. Containment is the thought that communism was like a disease that needed to be contained. The communist parties wanted to spread communism to many other countries. The Us didn t want communism to spread, so they came up with the idea of containment. During this essay you will learn many factors of the Korean War. In this writing, I will write about the tactics and strategies... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Luckily there was a way to cut mortality rate, and that was done by MASH. According to CNN, the US deaths totalled to 36,574 soldiers, and 103,284 injuries. South Korea ended up with 217,000 deaths while North Korea had 406,000 deaths. I concluded that both South and North Korea suffered way more in total than the US did. Veterans can home with many injuries. Those injuries included frostbite, trench foot, and many types of sicknesses. The VA states that the injuries could become worse if they weren t treated, they could result in skin cancer, arthritis, and amputations. Luckily, there was a way to reduce casualties and severe injuries from becoming fatal, and that is MASH. MASH stands for Mobile Army Surgical Hospitals. MASH were located close to the front lines of battle. If a soldier was seriously hurt, he could be rushed to a MASH were he would be treated. Once he was stable, he was flown to a hospital to be treated. The US Army points out that MASH were developed in the Korean War, so death rates went from 40 percent all the way to 2.5 percent. Many lives were saved due to MASH. Without them the amount of deaths would be sky high. The end of the war concluded in many deaths and injuries. But many lives were also saved by ... • 4. My Love Of Education Many people are on their own route towards what they consider receiving or claiming an education. Whether it be a formal or informal education, we all approach obstacles that keep us away from a direction we may have our mind or even our heart set on. In this essay, I will describe my experiences in which my education has brought me close to losing my temper and self confidence. I used to groom the knots of her black and white coat that would pile up on her belly. But, one day, I remember coming across a ball like lump under her skin. I moved it around to see if it bothered her, but she just lay there with her belly up, waiting for me to finish. The next morning, my dad and I took her to the vet and found out they were benign tumors, but should be removed before they could turn into something more serious. My family struggled to find the funds to remove the lumps. My love for animals, and particularly for my dog, Lyn Yang, quickly turned into dreams of being able to remove the lumps myself. But at that point, I was helpless. I thought, maybe one day, I d be a veterinarian and able to rid animals of their problems. That was the beginning of the dream. Growing up, I mostly stuck by my parents and they didn t stimulate my interest in animals. Even with all the time we spent at the vet, I never thought to speak to a veterinarian. What did I know about job shadowing? I now realize the importance of having real life role models, and someone to speak to about my goals and aspirations. It s like Sonia Sotomayor said, When a young person, even a gifted one, grows up without proximate living examples of what she may aspire to become, her goal remains abstract. In those days, in my environment, my dream to become a veterinarian gradually diminished. So much diminished during my teenage years. I found my mind shrinking. I could feel my dream getting smaller and smaller. Instead of choosing a profession that could drive me, I let me community drive me instead and it got the best of me. Life is different when you don t have a dream. I spent a lot of time in the streets. I had this small minded definition of success, particularly when everyone around me was making fast money. The slow developing value of an education ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. British Colonies Differences Causes of the Differences Between the British and Their Colonies in America Shawn M. Meyer Ohio Christian University October 28, 2017 Causes of the Differences Between the British and Their Colonies in America The colonies of North America were ready to rebel from King George III in the mid 1770s. There was a sense of Americanness amongst the colonists that created a feeling of separation between the British Colonies of North America and the citizens of the Kingdom living in the British Isles. Several factors contributed to the sense of Americanness that the colonists felt which consisted of political, social, and economic factors. By creating a feeling of separation, the colonies no longer viewed themselves as British, which would cause them to rebel from King George III. One political factor that contributed to the sense of Americanness was the belief of no taxation without representation. Since the taxes were being imposed by Parliament, and Parliament contained no representatives from the colonies, the colonists viewed that the Parliament did not have the authority to tax them, thus creating the idea of no taxation without representation. This created a sense of Americanness by showing that the colonists did not feel like a part of Great Britain, since they were not being represented in the British Parliament. Another political factor that contributed to the sense of Americanness was the enacting of the Coercive Acts. The Coercive Acts consisted of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this time period, there are still many of these well rounded individuals who live multi tasking lives. • 10. Manifestation of Communism Marx, K. F. Engels Bourgeois and proletarians Tom Considine Marx, K. F. Engels (1972 [1848], p.1) said The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles. (Marx, K. F. Engels 1972 [1848], p.1) This is the opening text from Marx and it is the theme of the rest of the chapter. Marx writes of the oppression of the proletarians and how the capitalist bourgeoisie have commodified them. He describes his disapproval for the capitalists stating that there is revolt from the proletariats due to the exploitation that was taking place, this would be the same for any capitalist society. Throughout the text there is the overriding idea that society would benefit with equality and public ownership (socialism). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Marx is trying to convey that capitalism is a poor way for a society to operate however i can see that this method would be more efficient and competitive, thus increasing the productivity of the economy. Marx s idea is that property should be publicly owned, individuals should cooperate, production is social and everything is shared equally. Marx, K. F. Engels (1972 [1848], p.42) said Of all the classes that stand face to face with the Bourgeois today, the proletariat alone is a really revolutionary class (Marx, K. F. Engels 1972 [1848], p.42). Marx believes this is because the laborers where the individuals who created socialism because they wanted to fight for their rights and become equal. They succeeded because they were the majority and therefore had a power over the Bourgeois because with the labour there would be no capitalism. The first reason I disagree with socialism is because price signals become distorted or absent, the market price for goods and services cannot be rationally allocated if the individuals aren t earning income in a free market. If all individuals receive an equal income and everything is shared then what is the incentive to work harder? If there is no incentive to earn a higher wage then individuals may be less motivated. Decreased motivation means that there will be a decrease in efficiency and thus a decrease in production, therefore the economy will suffer. The last argument against socialism is that it the advancement of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. VITA Reflective Essay My experience from VITA was different from what I had expected. Initially, I did not know what was expected from me. It seemed that everything was structured and we had to follow a myriad amount of rules, but the first day of VITA proved everything wrong. Working with clients, experiencing realistic situations, is what essentially taught me how to do a successful tax return. One huge impact I learned instantly is how you communicate with your client. I had to strengthen my communication skills because I needed to communicate with my clients in vocabulary that I knew they would understand. Communicating with a fellow peer, who is knowledgeable about taxes, is a different situation that of when you are speaking with a client. A client most likely doesn t know the exact, in depth details about taxes, which can lead to complications and confusion, so I had to adjust my lexicon to fit the clients needs and understanding. Also, working with partners was great. It gave me an opportunity to work with others and solve problems in a group. Sometimes, when one of us didn t know the answer, the other one would step in and help. Also, I felt like the class was a gigantic supportive group because we would ask and answer each other questions, when we a confused about a topic or area. I am glad that I ... • 12. Bias In History History is the version of past events that people have decided to agree upon Throughout time, history has been manipulated and changed by those who write it. No one person is ever truly objective and by that respect, no historian is unbiased. Those who write history often have been the victors of battle, or swayed to one side of a story with a bias often in their favour. With the introduction of photography, one could assume that history could not be re written, yet since its birth, as with history itself, photography has been manipulated, staged and edited to portray an entirely alternate account of the events of the past. Even Documentary photography can have opinions influencing it at times. However is it fair to say that history comes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first is that the negative itself was cut up and reassembled. He would have cut out Trotsky and replaced the blank space with another negative from the site the original negative was taken before light exposure. Doing this method would be tricky and would take meticulous craftsmanship, so it was very easy to get wrong. An easier, more likely option, is that they edited the image by creating a photogram. To do this they would have used paper or another material to block the light in the shape of Trotsky, giving the illusion of a complete image in just one exposure. This method is a little less delicate and can be achieved via trial and error rather easily. David King who researched about the censorship that Stalin created in Communist Russia said that Whatever the state considered undesirable was withdrawn from view. In Stalin s time, this was a monumental task Stalin had a view of exactly how he wanted Russia to be ran, and in order to achieve that he thought that he had to hide and present what he wanted the public to see rather than what actually is happening. Trotsky had challenged his views and felt betrayed by the fact that he did not completely agree with how things were to be ran in Russia, so removed him from images to sway the public into agreeing that Trotsky was a traitor and should be exiled. ... • 13. Bronfenbrenner s Ecological Systems Theory Analysis Introduction Development is the act or process of growth. Developmental psychology is the scientific study of how and why human beings change over the course of their life. The study of developmental theories can be traced back to the early 1900s. Over the years, psychologists and other scientists have developed a variety of theories to explain observations and discoveries about child development. Theories of development provide a framework for thinking about human growth, development, and learning. By using examples of ones own life span, from beginning to present, and analyzing life events using theoretical models, one can further explore certain theories and whether or not personal life experiences supports or denies theoretical models of development across the lifespan. Developmental Theorists and Theories Urie Bronfenbrenner developed the ecological systems theory to explain how a child s environment influences a child s development. In his model, there is a hierarchy of influence levels. The ecological systems model acknowledges the ongoing, necessary, and intrinsic interactions of a unique individual with others and the environment. • 14. Biomechanics Of Pitching A Ball With Tremendous Velocity... Biomechanics Of Pitching What do biomechanics and pitching have in common? Pitching a ball with tremendous velocity and accuracy is extremely difficult. The action depends on how the pitcher controls and uses his body to thrust the ball from his hand. Biomechanics is the sport science field that applies the laws of mechanics and physics to human performance in order to gain a greater understanding of performance in athletic events through modeling, simulation, and measurement. (Wood, 2010, p.1) Biomechanics is the study that focuses on movement of the human body. In order to optimize his or her performance, a pitcher must understand and utilize the biomechanic principles that contribute to his or her success. In biomechanics, the human body is viewed as a machine, or mechanical system, subject to the restrictions of the laws of physics. The body is broken down, figuratively of course, into a collection of body segments which include the forearm, foot, thigh, and so on. Connected to one another by pivoting joints, they are moved by muscular and/or extremely applied forces. The idea is to study the human body in action as it goes through some particular movement in order to isolate the various individual motions that make up the activity, to measure the speeds of body segments and the forces that act on them, and in general to acquire accurate data on all aspects of the movement. OSX, the operating system used on Macs, is more intuitive than Windows 7 (which is the most widely used OS right now). Apple designs OSX and Macs to work flawlessly together. This means there aren t any hardware to OS compatibility issues. OSX is also easier to learn and use than Windows 7. To update to a new version, all you have to do is download the update from the app store, run it, and wait about 10 minutes for it to install. There are drawbacks, though. Since Macs make up only 10% of the computer market, developers create applications for Windows, first. • 16. Types Of Fraud And The Healthcare Industry TYPES OF FRAUD Healthcare fraud is costly for everybody, as it harms the reputation of the institution or physician committing it, and financially damages the patient being affected.By definition fraud may be defined as intentionally employing surprise, trickery, cunning, deception and unfair ways by which one party cheats another party out of financial resources. In order to educate a healthcare manager regarding fraud , many aspects of fraud must be assessed. This includes the types of fraud, the consequences that come with fraud, the individual(s) committing them, techniques to prevent fraud, and why the healthcare industry is vulnerable to fraud. As the healthcare industry begins to expand its horizons, by featuring more staff and patients, the types of frauds that are committed also rise in number and complexity. One of the many consequences that derives from fraud within the healthcare system includes an increase in the cost of healthcare itself. In order to limit and analyze fraud that encompasses the entirety of the healthcare industry, it is necessary to assess the different types of frauds and in doing so also understand the method of reimbursement involving the professionals and members of the health care industry. Since a majority of these reimbursements are paid by insurances or through government programs, a program known as coding was created in order to organize and properly pay off these reimbursements(Marilyn Price, Donna Norris, 2009). Crushing Poem Analysis the poem Crushing is a narrative with a central theme of the youthful years of under privileged juveniles with vivid images of theft, racing, intoxication, and calming ending of a beach vision. The poem is a wholesome picture that goes from being wild in the beginning to a calming image of a beach and stars at the end, which is also a technique of the poem that is taking readers on a journey. It spectacularly builds up images of fancy and elegant partying, to a calming end of evening beach scene. The poet is reminiscing about his glory days of being very intoxicated and rambunctious in the youth, that are going by too fast. Self mutilation is characterized by autoagressive behaviors without intent to die, and is not uncommonly encountered in clinical practice, with an estimated prevalence of 4.3% in general psychiatric patients. The highest incidences of self mutilation have been reported in prisoners, institutionalized teenagers with antisocial traits, and among those diagnosed with autism, schizophrenia, intellectual disabilities, and traumatic brain injuries [1]. Major self mutilation is a rare, severe manifestation of deliberate self harm that results in perpetual loss of function or capacity of an organ and constitutes a medical/surgical and psychiatric emergency[2]. Notably the act of major self mutilation usually is associated with delusions or hallucinations [3].Auto emasculation, a subtype of major self mutilation, typically manifests in the context of schizophrenia[4] , and presents a significant management challenge for both medical /surgical and psychiatric providers, in part because of the lack of clinical guidelines for pharmacological management. Density And Sg By Hydrometer Method Density and SG by Hydrometer Method Objective The purpose of this practical is to determine the specific gravity and density of samples of methylated spirit of different concentrations, using a hydrometer. Introduction Theory Specific gravity (SG) is defined as the ratio between the density of a liquid to the density of water at a temperature of 4oC and pressure of 1 atm. It is of great importance when quoting the specific gravity of a substance to refer to the temperature and pressure at which the measurement was taken, especially because the density of water tends to vary significantly with temperature. For example, at 15oC the density of water is 0.9991 g/cm3, while at 4oC the density is at its maximum of 1 g/cm3. Pressure, on the other hand, is almost always 1 atm. It is most common to refer specific gravity to a temperature and pressure of 4oC and 1 atm. Hydrometer The hydrometer is an instrument usually made of glass, which is used to measure the specific gravity or density of a liquid. It is composed of a cylindrical stem over a bulb that is weighted with a small amount either mercury or lead to ensure it floats upright. The function of a hydrometer is a result of Archimedes principle which states that any body which is partially or completely submerged in a fluid at rest, is acted on by an upward buoyant force which is equal in magnitude to the weight of the fluid displaced by the body. Consequently, the hydrometer will sink further, the lower the density of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For my essay I chose Richard Trevithick, born on April 13, 1771 he was a British inventor from Cornwall, United Kingdom, and was also a mining engineer. Trevithick was a son of a mining captain, and he did not do very well in school. However, he became an early pioneer of the rail transport and steam powered road. I think Trevithick is a very interesting person because he performed poorly in school, he never profited from his intelligence, and he had no business sense. On the other hand, he became an important man in history and I admire that. My goal of this paper is to explain how he built the first high pressure steam engine, designed, and built the first... He named the carriage Puffing Devil and on Christmas eve, he took part in a public demonstration by carrying 6 passengers to Fore Street, and Camborne Hill from Camborne Cross, to the village of Beacon. Trevithick s cousin and partner, Andrew Vivian, helped steer the machine. It was widely recognized to be the first demonstration of transportation that was powered by steam. Consequently, during tests Trevithick s locomotive had broken down 3 days later after passing over a ditch in the road. In addition, due to water boiling off the engine it overheated, and eventually burned, which destroyed it. Nevertheless, in 1802 Trevithick had a patent for his high pressure steam engine, so he built a stationary engine to prove his opinions at Coalbrookdale Company s works in Shropshire. His engine had groundbreaking boiler pressure of 145 psi and it ran at forty piston strokes a minute. Later, Trevithick built yet another steam powdered road vehicle in 1803 called the London Steam Carriage, it had attracted a lot of people, but it was uncomfortable for the passengers. The London Steam Carriage was more expensive to run than a horse carriage and eventually abandoned.Through the years he invented other engine related machines. • 37. The Importance Of A Business Continuity And Disaster... There is need to ensure that there is continuity of information and adequate recovery of the same in business continuity planning and disaster recovery processes. Individuals and firms therefore have to improve their incident response capability in light of increasing attacks that are cyber security related. These attacks have become diverse and more disruptive while causing greater damage. The number of securityrelated incidents cannot be completely reduced, but the incident response capability of individuals and firms can be improved to enable them to detect incidents promptly, minimize loss, mitigate any weaknesses exploited during such incidents and restore information and IT services back to normal (NIST 2012). The objective of this essay is to outline the importance of having a business continuity and disaster recoveryplan for information systems, the technical and managerial challenges that can be faced and solutions that can be used to solve the same. It is important to have business continuity plan and disaster recovery for information systems since these attacks often target business data and sometimes personal data. It also enables an individual or a firm to have an automatic way of responding to incidents in a systematic way using laid down methodology. This is key in reducing the theft or loss of information that would have occurred. In addition, it reduces the time in which services are disrupted due to these incidents. • 40. The Effect Of Heat Transmission On The Heat Introduction: Heat transmission is the process through which heat is transferred in swap of thermal energy that exists between the physical systems, depending on the pressure and temperature by dissipating heat. The essential modes of transferring the heat are convection, conduction or diffusion and radiation. Heat is transferred from region of high temperature to low temperature region. 1.0 Heat transfer The various modes of heat transfer are as follows: 1.1 Conduction: Conduction mode of heat transfer is the process in which transfer of energy is taken place between the objects that are having the physical existence. In this process heat is spreads through a matter when faster molecules and atoms run over with the slower neighboring atoms and molecules. Faster atoms and molecule can transfer their little energy known as kinetic energy to the slower ones. Conduction is also known as diffusion. 1.2 Convection Convection is also a fundamental mode of transferring the heat. In this process heat is transferred from one place to another through the movement of fluids. Fluids are those substance which are not having any fixed shape. These substances include liquid and gas state of matter. I have taken a personality test and learned that I have an Executive personality type, if you do not know what that means I am like the boss in a business. This trait is held by less than 11% of the population. I am stubborn, organized, and judgmental. My personality showed that one of my weaknesses is stubbornness, for example they are reluctant to trust other opinions . Sometimes being stubborn can be helpful and other times it can be hurtful, for example if you want to go over to your friends house but your mom says no sometimes if you keep trying she might say yes. Or like the other times she gets annoyed and tells you to go away. There are three things that being stubborn makes harder for me: trying to be flexible, getting along with my parents, and shopping. Trying to be flexible is hard because if my mom makes something for dinner that I don t really like or that I just am not feeling, I will eat cereal or somethings else. Another reason is trying to get along with my parents, because I always think that I am right and they are wrong. After years of living in pre digital lifestyles (Selwyn, 2009, p. 369 ), the digital immigrants have been transformed into a group of asylum seekers in digital media world (Byne Ross, 2007, p. 4 ). It means that these older people are forced to adapt if they really want to be connected. Likewise, even though some of digital immigrants can use technology, most of them still consider it as something foreign (Kennedy et al., 2008). Consequently, the digital immigrants may find online experience anarchic, superficial and/or threatening (Dufresne Bethke, 2005), due to their entrenched value in traditional discourse of information gathering. O Hara and Steven (2006, p. 88) even claims that the digital immigrants require more attention due to their ICT skills which are second hand, slightly forced and has to be learned . In other words, digital immigrants are seen as groups of people who are older and less familiar as well as uncomfortable with technology.
