The Ancient Greek Society
Competition in ancient Greece set their society apart from the rest of the world and became a greater
influence on modern society. Competition was pride and a sense of bettering oneself to achieve greater
goals. Hesiod is the first to correlate man to material. He describes mankind in five races of earthly
material based upon their malleability. Overtime the Greeks develop this theory into a popular
mindset, craftsmen and the product. Man becomes what he creates. The desire to learn and grow
invests itself in competition by the conception of medicine, sports, art, writing, language, and war.
Everything in Greek society was recognized as either a tool or a product. Men developed their bodies
in gymnasiums, children expanded their minds in schools, the body was made immune and strong
with medicines, and the brain was built on words, conversation inspired by art, territories seized by
war. Inspired by the ancient Egyptians and their tradition of statue portraiture the Greeks decide to
develop this further. The Kroisos statue was born, next the Kritos boy. From then on sculptors would
rise to challenge to create the perfect man, their earthly version of paying God. The Greeks
incorporated math for order and continued on their hopes for perfection. Next they added drama and
movement in marble structures resembling man and the God s. Greeks built off of other Greeks works.
They used past examples as stepping stones for self improvement. When Greece saw its first example

I Am A College Student
I m a college student on a typical college student s budget, and I moved into my apartment about a
year ago. Let me tell you this, I just now decorated my room. Yes, I spent an entire year staring at
stark white walls, with nothing but last years calendar and my celebrity crush of the moment hanging
o the wall beside my bed. There s nothing inviting about an undecorated room, in fact it s sort of
depressing, and I wouldn t recommend it to anyone. No matter what your budget, decorating is
important and can be done. Here s how I gave my room a personal touch for less than $100. Like most
people the first thing I thought of to decorate my walls with were pictures. Little did I know how
expensive pictures could be. I first looked for framed pictures at discount retailers like Target, figuring
I could get a good deal. Wrong. Even their smaller pictures cost about $30, and while that isn t really
expensive, it was just a tad bit more than I wanted to spend on one item. I did come across a rather
small rectangular picture for $10 in the sale bin at Rite Aid, and a matching pillar candle for the same
price at Kmart, but those items ended up in my bathroom so they don t count towards the total for my
room. The point is, however, that we can t discriminate against those really cheap shops. To find good
pictures for a really low price I recommend going to unexpected places, such as Rite Aid. Believe it or
not, you might just find one or two items you like. If all else fails,

A Brief Biography Of Pythagoras
A Brief Biography of Pythagoras Pythagoras was a Greek religious leader who made huge
developments in math. He is described as the first pure mathematician. Pythagoras is a very important
figure in the development of mathematics and he made many contributions to the math we use today.
Pythagoras was born c.570 BCE in Samos, Ionia, Greece and died on c.495 BCE on Matapontion.
There is not a lot of information about his childhood. In 532 BCE, Pythagoras emigrated to Italy,
where he attended a scientific school. One of the teachers who had a big influence in Pythagoras life
was Pherekydes. As well as Thales, a philosophe. Thales introduced him to math ideas and suggested
to go to Egypt to learn more about every subject. So he took ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

purification, 3. That the soul can rise to union with the divine, 4. That certain symbols have a mystical
significance, and 5. That all brothers of the order should observe strict loyalty and secrecy. In this
society were accepted both man and women. Brumbaugh says that it hard for us today, familiar as we
are with pure mathematical abstraction and with the mental act of generalization, to appreciate the
originality of this Pythagorean contribution because we do not know in what sense Pythagorean and
mathematikoi were studying mathematics. Regarding to this we do not know what work is his anf
what is his followers because there wasn t much writing. Even though from the Pythagoras actual
work nothing is known, Braumbaugh writes that he studied proportion of numbers, odd and even
numbers, perfect numbers, etc. and he states: Each number had its own personality masculine or
feminine, perfect or incomplete, beautiful or ugly. This feeling modern mathematics has deliberately
eliminated, but we still find overtones if it in fiction and poetry. Ten was the very best number: it
contained in itself the first four integers one, two, three, and four [1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10] and these written
in dot notation formed a perfect triangle. And today we know Pythagoras for his famous Pythagorean

Babe hasn t always had this kind of love for the game though. His real name was George Herman
Ruth Jr. As a young child he was one of eight children. His sister and him were the only ones to

Bill Dickey said, He hits the ball harder and further than any man I ever saw. Then the following year
he broke his own record and hit 59 home runs. Then only two years ago he shocked the game of
baseball again by hitting 60 home runs. The reason for hitting so many home runs is because he s

The Mystery of the Lost Colony
For centuries the disappearance of the Roanoke colonists has been one of the great mysteries in the
historical community. Within the span of three years, 120 colonists disappeared from an English
colony on Roanoke Island, a small piece of land off the coast of North Carolina. The evidence left
behind barely gives us a clue as to what could have happened to the entire colony. With the testimony
of John White, the leader of the colony that left the settlement to get more supplies, and what little
evidence there is, there have been many theories as to what actually caused the disappearance. When
trying to make a logical conclusion about the disappearance of the 120 inhabitants of the colony at
Roanoke, there are many factors to consider. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The purpose of this overtly hostile action was to obtain information from the chief about the defensive
capabilities of the surrounding Indian nations. This action only served to alienate the tribe and force
the settlers to depend on the fruits of their own labors... within months the first Roanoke colony was in
disarray and the settlers were near starving (Croatoan).
The colony barely lasted until Sir Francis Drake s fleet sailed by in 1586 when Drake offered supplies
or a trip back to their homeland. The settlers, starving and homesick, quickly accept the offer and
return to England. Not even a week later a relief ship arrives with supplies to discover the settlement
abandoned. The supply ship left fifteen men with a reasonable amount of food before departing (The
Settlement). Raleigh s first colony was an instructive test run for a second, more planned effort. He
determined that if the colony was relocated 80 miles north in the Chesapeake Bay shipping would be
essentially easier. He also decided to reconfigure the core of the colony by allowing seventeen women,
nine children, and two ex convicts under their new leader. John White was the expeditionary artist

Car Industry Australia Essay
Executive Summary Eagle Motors Ltd is a well established Swedish Car Manufacturing Company
trying to set up their firm in Australia. In order to compete successfully in the car industry in Australia,
Eagle Motors Ltd needs to conduct an analysis of the industry context in which they would like to
operate. Using the porters five forces model, this provides a detailed analysis of the competitive nature
of the Australian car industry and also it suggests an appropriate competitive strategy for Eagle Motors
to gain a sustainable competitive advantage. Eagle Motors Ltd is planning to employ a mixture of
Swedish and Australian managers and employees to run there operations in Australia. However, the

High fixed costs: This result in an economy of scales effect that increases rivalry. High exit barriers:
High exiting barriers in the car industry place a high cost of abandoning products, hence firms
compete intensely not to loose out, like Mitsubishi. Industry shakeout: A growing market and high
profits induces new firms like Eagle Motors to enter market and increase production which again
increases competition and rivalry. Threat of Substitutes: In porter s theory, substitutes refer to products
in other industries, not different types of the product. A substitute exists when a products demand is
affected by a change in the price of the substitute product. For Eagle motors the price elasticity for
cars is affected by substitute products such as public transport, motorcycles and bicycles for example.
If more of these substitutes become available, the demand for cars becomes more elastic since
customers have more alternatives. A close substitute makes it difficult for a company like Eagle
motors to raise prices. In Australia now the use of public transport and other forms of transport like
bicycles have increased largely because of the rise in petrol prices. In an already competitive market
for cars, Eagle Motors needs to be aware of the increasing petrol prices, and the tendency for
consumers to switch to lower cost substitutes like public

Learning From A Foreign Language
Learning to write in a foreign language Life is weird and unexpected. You don t know what is coming
up or what is going through. You don t know what s next, but you do have choices, plans and Images
of your future. I started reading and writing when I was 4, it was in Arabic and writing in Arabic doesn
t have many rules. So by the age of eight, I was done with learning how to read and write, and started
my science studies. I gained some of my skills through writing in Arabic like meditation and the way
of thinking, but this part of life is barely related to the kind of writer I am now, because writing in
English is completely different. My first experience with reading and writing in English started when I
chose to attend an out siding high school in another city. It was a school for top students. Joining this
school was my start point with the English and academic writing. It was also my start point to be here
in the US, more than 7,000 miles away from home. Looking back, if I didn t join this school, I wouldn
t be able to write and read in English and I wouldn t be able to come here. So life is pretty cool about
that, it s just one choice led to a very long series of events that shaped my writing skills and attitudes.
Starting the high school, one the most significant series of events that shaped my writing skills, was
my academic studies. When I joined the school, I was very weak in English and most of my

Why California Is A Trendsetter. From The End Of The Second
Why California is a Trendsetter From the end of the Second World War to the present day, California
strengthened its area as a political, social, and cultural trendsetter. California is also extraordinary than
most other states because of its diversity in the people and climate. California s diverse topographical
features such as, the rainfall, temperature and sunlight vary throughout the state. The seasons also vary
in California changing the areas climate. Since the beginning of European settlement in California,
climate has become increasingly important in shaping the state s economy (Osborne, 6). During World
War II, California grew vastly in the agricultural industry. Many of the soldiers trained in California

Travel routes, refueling stops, supermarkets, and overnight accommodations for drivers and their
passengers were all vestiges of southern California s love affair with cars (Osborne, 250). As well as
car industry that arose in California, there was also a vital airline industry developed in and near Los
Angeles and San Diego (Osborne, 250). Because of these industries taking off in California many
other states wanted what that state had. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, the women and minority
groups of California became extremely confident in their own rights (Osborne, 313). Many white,
middle class women focused on their freedom rather than their religious views. Because of this, this
also started to happen in other states. They wanted people to listen so these groups made there way to
Pat Brown s office (Osborne, 313). These women would not back down and Browns journey to
appreciate ethnic diversity and gender justice was a long one. Brown mocked the homosexuals in San
Fransisco and he gave no thought about women with respect to equal rights (Osborne, 313). As times
changed, so did his views on rights for minorities and women. The counterculture movement started in
the 1960s causing California to start another trend. The countercultural movement rejected the
Establishment s business world values, and urged a mix of non materialism, Asian religions, free love,

Southwest Porters Five Forces Essay
EWMBA 299 Competitive Strategy
Southwest Airlines
Introduction
The domestic US airline industry has been intensely competitive since it was deregulated in 1978. In a
regulated environment, most of the cost increases were passed along to consumers under a fixed rate
of return based pricing scheme. This allowed labor unions to acquire a lot of power and workers at the
major incumbent carriers were overpaid. After deregulation, the incumbent carriers felt the most pain,
and the floodgates had opened for newer more nimble carriers with lower cost structures to compete
head on with the established airlines. There were several bankruptcies followed by a wave of
consolidation with the fittest carriers surviving and the rest being ... Show more content on

The minimum efficient scale was not very high since airlines could choose to compete in a few
markets, and costs were more or less proportional to the number of flights offered and the number of
markets the airline wanted to operate in. The main consideration for profitable entry seemed to be the
ability of airlines to fill their airplanes above the breakeven point. In an industry fraught with price
competition, brand identity and reputation did not have significant value either. In the airline industry,
exit costs are not very high either. Planes could be easily redeployed to other markets, or sold off, and
gates and landing rights could be sub leased to other carriers.
Substitutes
There are a number of substitutes to air travel, especially over short distances. These include taking
other modes of transportation such as driving, taking the train etc., or not traveling at all. The use of
technology (like WebEx, NetMeeting, video conferencing etc.) that facilitates remote virtual
collaboration is becoming a good substitute for business air travel as well.
Supplier Power
The primary inputs to the airline industry include airplanes, labor and fuel. There are only two major
manufacturers (three at the time of the case Boeing, Airbus and McDonnell Douglas) for large
commercial aircraft. This, along with the relationship specific

How Is Miss Emily Grierson A Dynamic Character
Upon reading William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily, one discovers several colorful characters,
including one Miss Emily Grierson of Jefferson, Mississippi. Readers uncover her quirks and specific
character traits as seen through the eyes of the townspeople who are highly interested in the goings on
in her life. Miss Emily Grierson is a round yet static protagonist who is lonely, unyielding to change,
and overcome by her unfortunate life circumstances, and as such she should not be considered a mad
woman as many readers might accuse her of being.
Miss Emily lived her life almost throughout on display before the town of Jefferson and ultimately
this resulted in her lack of socialization and human interaction. The fault in this matter lies with her
father, the respected mayor of Jefferson, who protected her and kept her under thumb, driving away
every suitor that came to call. People came to picture poor Miss Emily as a slender figure in white in
the background, her father a spraddled silhouette in the foreground, his back to her and clutching a
horsewhip, the two of them framed by the back flung front door (Faulkner 35). In this visualization,
her father clearly stood between her and the real world as a threatening and domineering figure. One
might believe that such a prominent figure would interact with the public on a daily basis in a positive
manner, but it appears that the Grierson status only encouraged the prying eyes of the townspeople to
impede on Miss Emily s

Taking a Look at an Electromagnetic Relay
Patent Project: Electromagnetic Relay
Describe the problem: The electromagnetic relay is used many different applications as a switch. It
allows the signal to pass through the relay, when the magnetic coil is turned on, connecting 2 contact
points together. It works as follows: The relay is made with a bobbin, a coil, a fixed magnetic core,
and a movable armature. When the coil is excited, with the magnetic field generated, the armature is
maneuvered such that it will be repositioned when the magnetic field is turned on so that the contacts
touch and the signal travels through the relay. This design was developed in 1825 [1] and has not since
been changed. One drawback to this design is that the utilization of the magnetic flux generated is not
efficient. Thus the electrical power supplied to the relay is not sufficiently used making for a flaw in
the design, a loss of power. More power is used, when less could be consumed if the design were to be
changed. Thus the problem of the current electromagnetic relay is that the power supplied is not used
efficiently, so there is a waste of power. With the new green environmentally friendly consumer
market on the rise, industries want to be able to use as little power in their circuits as possible. Thus
the solution to this power inefficiency is what this innovation tries to affect and hopefully make better.
Describe the solution: This innovation provides a new design for an electromagnetic that is more
efficient in

The rewards would come later (8)
Stalin s revolution is a term signifying the drastic increase in power experienced by the bureaucracy
during the 1930 s. The First Five Year Plan incorporated policies which furthered mass production.
The goal was to increase industrialization in order to reconstruct the Soviet Union into a utopian and
powerful nation. The politburo, titled nashi vozhdi , was determined to create a nation which worked
as a single, mass producing machine. Everyone was under constant watch and expected to work in a
campaign style, ...In short, hectic bursts of concentrated attention to particular tasks, not through
routine, incremental activity. This made life at the factory resemble life at the front... (32). Efficient
and vigourous production was key to reconstructing the Soviet Union into an industrialized and
socialist state. Shortages were one of the major issues encountered during the perestroika. The
inexperienced bureaucracy was comprised of unqualified officials who developed an unrealistic and
unorganized economy. Marxist thought encouraged heavy industry. The major drawback was that it
did not emphasize the production of consumer goods, nor their distribution. Furthermore, petty
tutelage or the desire to control even the smallest aspects of everyday life was exercised during the
1930 s. In due course personal enterprise was forbidden. Basic necessities were difficult to get which

Additionally, the importance of church and family was evident in close knit Puritan communities. The

to do I want to be serving those around me. I have come to the conclusion, the only way to serve the
community in the fullest capacity is to first become educated on the needs of the community. To gain
understanding of what is required to serve this world, I took time volunteering in a nursing home as

The Environment Is Destroying The Earth s Natural Resources
Introduction
Every day, society is wasting the Earth s natural resources in an unsustainable way. By continuing to
live in an unsustainable way, it has resulted in the depletion of resources on this planet. Our lifestyles
have caused this to become a problem that needs to be fixed. Populations of developing countries are
wasting our resources at rates never before seen, yet mankind rarely realizes how it is affecting the
planet. If our lifestyles are not changed sooner rather than later, deeper consequences will occur that
will alter our lives forever. The environment is suffering every time people waste a resource. It has
resulted in an increase in global warming that has affected millions of people around the world and it
will continue to do so. There is no definite solution to this problem, nevertheless as the people of this
planet, we can at least do something regarding to it. By using resources in a sustainable way, it will
contribute to the survival of society and the Earth.
More Babies Create Additional Problems Millions of babies are born around the globe daily. Although
the birth of a child is one of the miracles of life, in today s world it might be a problem. The increase
in population has resulted in the higher usage and waste of natural resources globally. Ecologist Garret

population problem and change our life choices for the welfare of mankind.

What Does Route 66 Mean To You Essay

road to travel on, and the story The Best of America is on the Blue Highways, really explains why.
This author gives great examples of driving on Route 66, and what it represents. Route 66 represents

square and do something unique and interesting and make a living at it. It has many original features,

The Change of the Irish Question between 1800 and 1922 Essay
The Change of the Irish Question between 1800 and 1922
The Irish Question changed dramatically between the years 1800 and 1922. The Anglican Ascendancy
meant that Ireland was governed indirectly from England. The Ascendancy angered the Catholics,
limited their rights and made them pay taxes to the Protestant church. This led to dissatisfaction
amongst Catholics culminating in the 1798 Rebellion. This caused the British Government to become
more involved with Ireland, as they began to fear that Revolution could occur. It revealed to them the
weaknesses of the existing, divided system in Ireland and the need for the Question to be addressed.

equality and economic prosperity, by saying that if they got the vote they would also gain economic
benefits and the Ascendancy would end as Catholics gained positions of power. The Catholic Rent of
one penny a month was introduced, which was paid by the Catholics to fund the Catholic Association.
This separated the Catholics and Protestants further as it alienated Protestants. It made the Irish
Catholic Church a vital part of the movement, because priests were required to spread the message and
help collect Catholic rent. The Catholic Association organised open public meetings in which O

Real Madrid Brand Management
This assignment analyses how Real Madrid went from a local to global organization and turned into
one of the most well known football clubs in the world by leveraging its brand equity and
implementing successful marketing programmes throughout the world.
Real Madrid was ranked the richest football club in the world in 2009 10, according to Delloitte
Football Club Annual Report with €438.6m in revenue. (Goal.com, 2011) 1) Brand values and
positioning
Brand awareness
For the first 100 years of its story, Real Madrid created a reputation around Europe by winning a
sequence of titles in the beginning of the European competition.
Since the beginning of 2000 s when a new strategy was implemented, the club increased its brand

Although there are critics to the efficiency of the Galacticos strategy, Real Madrid benefited from
increased brand awareness worldwide.
Real Madrid explored the tangible assets of the brand in order to turn it global:
Game results: to achieve Real Madrid s vision to be the best in the world, the club hired the best
football players, e.g. by bringing the Galacticos which also enabled the team to borrow the player s
image and gave endorsement to the brand.
Merchandising: the production of sports items, clothing and other items has the intention of extending
the contacts with the fans not only to the football game but also into other situations of their life by
selling them clothing and items to be used in other situations. According to (Quelch et all, 2007), the
strategy was to increase the percentage of revenue coming from merchandising.
Corporate sponsors: a beneficial relationship for both parties, the increasing awareness coming from
the efficient marketing programme from Real Madrid allows a greater financial return and also the
possibility to reach the consumers of its sponsors as well. The main sponsors are both in the sports
arena, which allows the club to expand its image without over stretching; eg. Bwin sport betting
platform; and Adidas, an experienced brand in the sports scene.

Aspects Of The Origin Of Ma
Aspects of the origin of MA
Literature on management accounting origin split in to two completely different categories. One that
explains the development through what is called economic approach and the second through non
economic approach.
Economic approach
First signs of management accounting emerged as tool of cost control in early 19th century. This is
when many businesses were simply made up of a group of people who specialised in certain
individual areas. Production and supply of raw materials was completely separate at that time. These
small businesses were therefore easy and straight forward to manage. The manufacturer would simply
determine how much would materials cost and add the cost of work, which is generally evaluating the
time that it takes to produce a certain good and set a monetary value. A dramatic wind of change to
this was seen during the Industrial Revolution. Businesses became bigger and more complex. Perfect
examples could be such as cotton textile factories in England or cotton mills in United States of
America. Now instead of individual craftsmen, businesses became big hierarchical enterprises.
According to Johnson and Kaplan (1987) this was the emerging point of modern management
accounting.
Further advancement was noticed in the 19th century: The emergence and rapid growth of railways in
the mid nineteenth century was another major driving force in the development of management
accounting systems. New measures, such as cost per ton per mile,

Should Esports be considered a real sport?

Introduction
The influence of technology throughout the 21st century has been significant, affecting every aspect of
society, including sport. Technology has created an unofficial, esports (Electronic Sports), which has
grown rapidly over the past 4 years, erecting various Tournaments and bringing in millions of viewers.
This interests me due to my passion for video games and sports, a combination of the two being
extremely enticing; however, the real interest lies in the controversial issue of, Should Esports be
considered a real sport? The purpose of this Personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Streamers are people who broadcast them playing video games through a broadcasting service. This
service is twitch , as it has a monopoly on the video game broadcasting market. The broadcasters gain
ad revenue and viewers can subscribe to streams, allowing them to gain an income from streaming and
interacting with viewers, however, it is a free service and can be viewed by anyone without any
payments needing to be made. Esports has influenced this due to the immense amount of organisations
requiring professional players to implement streaming in their day to day activities. Streaming is an
integral part of a professional gamer s life in the western world due to the ad revenue it provides.
Companies attempt to raise the profile of the players through content on youtube such as gaming
house tours, making the players seem more likeable and approachable, directly influencing the user
interaction gained from streaming, thus, increasing revenue. By observing twitch streams I was able to
find that the top 3 twitch streams on avg. at any one time would have 10 20 thousand viewers in the
League of Legends section alone, as supported by statistic gathering website Socialblade , with the
other 7 in the top 10 averaging 1 7 thousand. Many other sections such as Counter Strike: Global
Offensive and Hearthstone also have similar statistics. This done not include

The Consequences of Rewarding Good Grades with Money
Only 19% of 654 Canadian parents consider the age of 5 to be too young to be given money (Kids
Money, 2014). This is a huge problem in today s society. Kids are easily driven by money and can
become spoiled as well as overprivelaged. It would benefit both the child and parent(s) if they do not
receive money for good grades. Due to the lack of knowledge, kids are unable to spend money wisely.
Their strive for money becomes their main goal and do not realize the importance of their grades. This
leads to rushed work also, paying your child is a waste of the money earned by the parents and leads
to consequences for their future.
First of all, when kids get money for good grades, they are unable to spend it effectively. A child are
more likely to spend money on items such as games, candy or objects of their interest instead of items
that could be more beneficial towards themselves. They don t know how to handle responsibility and
have not been taught how to utilize their money. Economy does not lie in sparing money, but, in
spending it wisely (Huxley, 2014). Children don t understand the value of money and how hard their
parents work to receive enough to provide for them. With this hard earned money, their parents fill
their necessities while the kids fulfill their desires. A penny saved is a penny earned (Franklin, 2014).
Because kids are unable to use their money effectively, the money of their parents gets taken
advantage of and gets wasted. The money that is given to

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Two-State
There has been a long going debate as to whether a one state or two state solution would be an
acceptable solution to the Israeli Palestinian conflict. Both solutions have their advantages and
disadvantages. A two state solution would create an independent Israel and Palestine. The main idea
that comes from the two state solution is that Israelis and Palestinians want to run their countries
differently; Israelis want a Jewish state, and Palestinians want a Palestinian one. And neither side can
get what it wants if they were to become one state, the only possible solution that satisfies everyone
involves separating Palestinians and Israelis. Therefore a two state solution would be best for these
two countries because since they would be separated there would not be anything to fight about.

And since they would become two different states they would not need to spend as much money on
new military weaponry and defense systems because conflict would no longer be something that they
would be focused on, and the money they could have used for weaponry and defense systems could
used more efficiently, for instance that money that was used can now be used to improve and repair
infrastructure that was destroyed during the conflict. ²Economic opportunities will arise for both states
as it encourage expats who left Palestine and Israel because of the war, to return back and help build
the economies of both these states. In addition it will also increase the tourism industry for both these

to come to Israel and Palestine as both these states have a variety of religious and historical sites as

Sin In Puritan Society
Puritan Society and Views on Sin in The Scarlet Letter Hester Prynne was seen as the embodiment of
sin by the people of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. Her act of adultery seemed to be the highest crime
of all, and she was punished daily for it. As if it was not enough to be sentenced to a full day of
constant humiliation in the presence of every citizen of the colony, they assured that she would live
through it again daily by attaching a scarlet letter A, representing the adulteress she was, to her chest.
Though Hester Prynne suffered greatly for her sin, her punishment and the actions she took afterward
reflected the beliefs, particularly surrounding sin, and ethics that were hidden in the Puritan society in
which she lived. We are shown ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of Hester s incrimination and her treatment, we can see the morals of the colony. When we
see the women waiting for Hester outside the prison, they gather in a group and think up horrible and
cruel punishments for Hester s sin saying, they should have put the brand of a hot iron or her forehead
(Hawthorne 30). They remark that the letter was stitched well but it is meant to laugh in the faces of
the noblemen (Hawthorne 32). Their view on the letter and rejection of Hester based on it is ironic
when she was later requested to make clothes for many in the town, including these women
(Hawthorne 47 137). The clothing Hester stitched was elaborate, much like the letter, and their
willingness to wear it shows that there is sin in everyone, and the Puritans way of dealing with theirs
was to demonize Hester in order to feel as if they were holy (Hawthorne 47). We also notice that in
some minds, there is no way to recover from sin. Hester goes out of her way to provide care to those
around her by nursing them when they were sick, but was sometimes met with a gibe in requital of
food brought regularly to his door, (Hawthorne 90). One might think that Hester has escaped the
shame of the letter when it takes on the meaning Able, reflecting her good deeds (Hawthorne 91).
However, even toward the ending of her time in the colony, she is met with a

Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Economic Crisis
The second World War broke out and once again military engineering triggered the much need
economic growth. During the war the American economy seemed to breathe fresh air. Suddenly there
were opportunities everywhere. The country began to use this war as a catalyst to gear up the industry.
The unemployed got inducted in the defence services. The governments subsidized wage program also
gave renewed impetus to the factories. The factories in turn generated employment. Military
engineering also propelled the economy with new growth arenas. New shipyards, bus services and
emergence of new electronic factories suddenly seem to bring in the lost glory to the US economy.

There is a science to it. There are many reasons one may attribute to this. One of them is that after
falling into the crisis the weaknesses of the economy gets exposed. These weaknesses may or may not
be the reasons for the emanated crisis but surly they now grab the eyeballs. Due to the crisis the policy
reforms get speeded up and measures are taken to tackle the weakness. In situations where financial
deficit take place austerity measures work. These measures have great impact as the spending of the
government reduces the fiscal deficit to huge extent. This is what the Greece policy reforms are
working at. During crisis, the measures aim to immediate relief and also long term solutions to current
problems. This kind of strategy has a great impact. To provide immediate relief some stress is put on
the economy but the long term now looks safe. In the long run when the economy recovers the stress
is relieved. This kind of policy reforms was used in America in the last recession. The idea was to
print money and inject them into the economy to boost spending; when the economy would recover
the policy would be to draw the excess money. The idea here was not a defensive move but more of an
aggressive policy reform. It has been seen throughout history that protectionist attitude leads to
aggregating the crisis and taking it into deeper zones of trouble while aggressive reforms boost the
recovery process. There is a saying Fortune favours the brave . Here it holds

Advantages And Disadvantages Of An Operating System
Introduction
An operating system (OS) is the software component of a computer system that is responsible for the
management and coordination of activities and the sharing of the resources of the computer. The OS
acts as a host for application programs that run on the machine. As a host, one of the purposes of an
OS is to handle the details of the operation of the hardware. This relieves application programs from
having to manage these details and makes it easier to write applications. Almost all computers use an
OS of some type. The operating system is also responsible for security, ensuring that unauthorized
users do not access the system. The Operating System will identify at which time the CPU will
perform which operation and in which Time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Process Control System: Process Controls are dedicated Systems which dedicated to a single

Distributed System: Is an interconnection of two or more nodes, but the processors do not share

Serial Processing: Programmers had to interact directly with the computer hardware, there was no OS.
These computers used a console consisting of display lights, toggle switches, some form of input
device, and a printer. Programs in machine code had to be loaded via the input device. If an error
occurred in the program, the error condition was indicated by the lights. If the program has been
executed, the output would appear on the printer.

Vitamin C Content in Fruit Juices
Aim: To investigate the vitamin C content of fruit juice. Introduction In this experiment I will be

but I will be using a syringe instead of a burette.
Vitamin C Vitamin C also known as ascorbic acid is needed for growth and maintenance of healthy
tissues, especially skin, blood vessels, bones, gums, teeth. Vitamin C aids in resistance against
infection and healing of wounds. It also helps the body absorb iron from food. Vitamin C can be found

My dependant variable is the amount of Vitamin C in each fruit juice. I will observe the solution when
it is decolourizing. I will use the same volume of DCPIP solution for each fruit juice so that the results
are accurate and valid. I will use the results from this experiment to work out how much vitamin C the
fruit juices contain.
Preliminary Test In the preliminary test I used 3cm3 of DCPIP solution. A large amount of juice was
needed to change the colour of the DCPIP to colourless. I changed the amount of DCPIP solution from
3cm3 to 1cm3. This is because less juice will be needed to change 1cm3 of DCPIP from blue to
colourless. I used test tubes to hold the DCPIP and the 1% ascorbic acid but it was difficult to mix the
two solutions together so I decided to use a boiling tube instead. I tested the 1% ascorbic acid in the
preliminary test and I found that I need less than 3cm3 of the solution.
Equipment

2x Test tube rack
1% DCPIP solution (1cm3 x15)
4x 5ml syringe
1% ascorbic acid (3cm3 x3)
Pineapple juice (30cm3 x3)
Orange Juice (30cm3 x3)
Lemon juice (30cm3 x3)
The boiling tubes will be used to hold the juice and the 1 % DCPIP solution. I will use boiling tubes
because in the preliminary test I used a test tube and I found that the test tube was too small and was
hard to shake the mixture therefore I will be using boiling tubes as the are slightly

Many citizens believe that presidential promises fall into two categories. Either they are to theoretical
and fall short of the expectation or the bills don t get passed through Congress. According to Huffpost,
many presidents in the past thirty years have shown low signs of their promises becoming existent

citizens to help increase job availability. Their detailed plans and strategies passed through Congress
successfully but suffered a great deal of negative impact as they experienced undesired results. Even
though both Clinton and Bush were very successful in achieving main goals by making bills pass into
laws, they didn t ultimately make good outcomes out of their promises. Under Reagan s presidency,
unemployment escalated to 10.8 percent, price went across the roof that caused the federal deficit to

Analysis Of Sherman Alexie s On The Amtrak
In the poem On the Amtrak from Boston to New York City by Sherman Alexie, the speaker is
portrayed as a Native American Indian who wishes to retake and make known his ownership of Indian
land, which the white people stole. However, his sympathy towards his rivals seems to keep him from
accomplishing these goals. First, we can plainly see his Native American heritage in the language of
the poem. For example, he refers to the elderly woman whom he converses with as white (line 1),
which implies he is not; there would be no real reason of mentioning skin color unless it was
significant to him. The negative outlook the speaker has on the white woman s definition of history is
apparent in his rejection of her historical claim. The woman says, Look, / look at all the history, that
house on the hill there is over two hundred years old, (lines 1 3). He frowns upon her words,
explaining, I have learned / a little more about American history during my few days / back East than
what I expect and far less / of what we should all know of the tribal stories / whose architecture is
15,000 years older / than the corners of the house that sits / museum on the hill. (lines 5 11). The way
the speaker distances himself from American history (line 6) and how he claims all should know tribal
stories (line 8) insinuating he is of tribal descent. Further, he announces, I know the Indians were
living stories / around that pond before Walden s grandparents were born (lines

The Birthplace of American Patriotism
By now, the British had defeated Napoleon and could engage their entire military on the war across
the sea. The plan to force President Madison to surrender was a three part invasion. One force would
attack the north, coming in through Lake Champlain, sailing down the Hudson River and advancing
into New York. The second force would strike the Chesapeake area and capture Washington and
Baltimore. The third would advance into New Orleans through the Gulf of Mexico and take control of
the Mississippi River. Though the attack on the Chesapeake was planned as a distraction to the other
two parts of the plan, the militias in Maryland fell so easily to the British that they kept advancing in
that area. First, the British marched into the capital, Washington D.C., trampled the American soldiers
attempting to halt them, and set fire to all of the important buildings, including the President s
Mansion, the Capital, and US Treasury. The tragedy fogged the Americans sight of victory but did not
dampen the soldiers spirits and will to defeat the military super power. Next, the British moved on to
Baltimore, a busy trading port and a source of well built warships. General George Armistead
commanded Fort McHenry, Baltimore s blockade to incoming attackers. Armistead rallied the
residents of the city to build fortifications and join the ranks in the fort. He ordered a giant flag to be
sewn to show the British that Baltimore was ready to fight. As dawn arrived, so did the British. Led by

Introduction Of Six Sigma As A Quality Program
Introduction to Six Sigma
Six Sigma is a quality program stressing the need for quantitative quality standards that focuses on
improving the product for the customer, and that this in turn, will improve quality and reduce costs.
Introduced by engineer Bill Smith at Motorola in 1986, Six Sigma is now widely used throughout the
manufacturing industry. In statistics, sigma is the notation for the standard deviation, which is related
to variation. The ultimate goal of Six Sigma is to reduce variation in a process in order to reduce
defects caused by a process and defects seen by customers. Six Sigma is broken up into two
disciplines for manufacturing, DMAIC and DMADV. DMAIC is used to continuously improve
existing processes, while DMADV is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Six Sigma projects are generally performed on teams so fully defining the problem and objective is
vital to the success of the rest of the project. Once teams split up, if a problem is not fully defined, Six
Sigma trained employees may move on to the measure step collecting information that does not solve
the same problem. Six Sigma has a set of statistical tools that are used to analyze data. The next two
steps in DMAIC are improve and control. After analyzing the statistics, it is time to improve the
project. Controlling the project is the final step. It is not enough to implement an improvement change.
The change must be monitored. In manufacturing plants, there can be a strong opposition to change
when workers have been performing the same work for years. Whether it be fear of replacement or the
thought that you are there to make their job more difficult, low level workers resist change.
Controlling the improvement will keep the change in effect. Results may not be shown immediately.
In fact, many Six Sigma implementations actually harm the company at first until the culture of
continuous improvement disperses itself throughout all levels of the company. The last two steps in
the DMADV process are design and verify. Designing a new process from scratch is more difficult
than improving an existing process. Considerations for all stakeholders should be involved when

This then will holds our population to maintain its current numbers longer along with an increase from
that of newer generations being born. There are several reasons of why applying the concept of
population carrying capacity is difficult to apply to the human population. This includes that humans
are able to adapt and we are able change our food source depending on availability. We are also use
variety of resources ; however, when our resource run out we import it from another location or
substitute it for another resource. We have also discovered technological advances and agricultural
techniques that allow for us to maximize the productivity of agricultural land. Some of the dynamics
of food supply for the increasing human populations include ways that our population must learn to
increase yields. This includes increasing the use of urban farming in cities, avoid planting mono
cropping, reducing food waste, and increasing human consumption of grains and less of meat due.
Part II: In researching why population growth is more rapidly growing in the lower developed
countries and will account for most of the new population by 2025, I found that this is due to various

above. The existing companies within the industry are joining forces, which at times do have
detrimental effects for new comers to the market and for some existing companies. For instance, the

Analysis Of Two Lovers And A Beachcomber By Sylvia Plath
Sylvia Plath and Two Lovers and a Beachcomber by the Real Sea Sylvia Plath, while one of the best
known poets of the 20th century, has diminished in popularity to the modern audience. Despite this,
Plath s work is still poignant today with its self examination of life in the context of poor mental
health and its confessional style that has become a staple of American literature. On October 27, 1932,
Sylvia Plath was born to Aurelia Schober and Otto Plath, both immigrants of Germanic descent.
Although she was born in Boston, Sylvia Plath spent her childhood years in Winthrop, Massachusetts,
a smaller coastal town. Unfortunately, Plath lost her father to diabetes related complications in
November of 1940 at the young age of eight; however, her eighth year of life also brought her the
publication of her first poem in the children s section of The Boston Herald. Two years later, the Plath
family moved to Wellesley, Massachusetts, so her mother could work at Boston University and
support the family. Plath excelled at her school in Wellesley and began to receive prizes and awards
for her writing. Along with her natural intelligence, this culminated in a personality that her mother
described as precocious as well as the development of perfectionist tendencies that would afflict her
significantly later in life (Barnard 15). Similarly, America s entrance into World War II in 1944
contributed to Sylvia Plath s pessimistic outlook on human nature. Additionally, as she grew up and

  • 2. The Ancient Greek Society Competition in ancient Greece set their society apart from the rest of the world and became a greater influence on modern society. Competition was pride and a sense of bettering oneself to achieve greater goals. Hesiod is the first to correlate man to material. He describes mankind in five races of earthly material based upon their malleability. Overtime the Greeks develop this theory into a popular mindset, craftsmen and the product. Man becomes what he creates. The desire to learn and grow invests itself in competition by the conception of medicine, sports, art, writing, language, and war. Everything in Greek society was recognized as either a tool or a product. Men developed their bodies in gymnasiums, children expanded their minds in schools, the body was made immune and strong with medicines, and the brain was built on words, conversation inspired by art, territories seized by war. Inspired by the ancient Egyptians and their tradition of statue portraiture the Greeks decide to develop this further. The Kroisos statue was born, next the Kritos boy. From then on sculptors would rise to challenge to create the perfect man, their earthly version of paying God. The Greeks incorporated math for order and continued on their hopes for perfection. Next they added drama and movement in marble structures resembling man and the God s. Greeks built off of other Greeks works. They used past examples as stepping stones for self improvement. • 4. I Am A College Student I m a college student on a typical college student s budget, and I moved into my apartment about a year ago. Let me tell you this, I just now decorated my room. Yes, I spent an entire year staring at stark white walls, with nothing but last years calendar and my celebrity crush of the moment hanging o the wall beside my bed. There s nothing inviting about an undecorated room, in fact it s sort of depressing, and I wouldn t recommend it to anyone. No matter what your budget, decorating is important and can be done. Here s how I gave my room a personal touch for less than $100. Like most people the first thing I thought of to decorate my walls with were pictures. Little did I know how expensive pictures could be. I first looked for framed pictures at discount retailers like Target, figuring I could get a good deal. Wrong. Even their smaller pictures cost about $30, and while that isn t really expensive, it was just a tad bit more than I wanted to spend on one item. I did come across a rather small rectangular picture for $10 in the sale bin at Rite Aid, and a matching pillar candle for the same price at Kmart, but those items ended up in my bathroom so they don t count towards the total for my room. The point is, however, that we can t discriminate against those really cheap shops. To find good pictures for a really low price I recommend going to unexpected places, such as Rite Aid. Believe it or not, you might just find one or two items you like. If all else fails, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. A Brief Biography Of Pythagoras A Brief Biography of Pythagoras Pythagoras was a Greek religious leader who made huge developments in math. He is described as the first pure mathematician. Pythagoras is a very important figure in the development of mathematics and he made many contributions to the math we use today. Pythagoras was born c.570 BCE in Samos, Ionia, Greece and died on c.495 BCE on Matapontion. There is not a lot of information about his childhood. In 532 BCE, Pythagoras emigrated to Italy, where he attended a scientific school. One of the teachers who had a big influence in Pythagoras life was Pherekydes. As well as Thales, a philosophe. Brumbaugh says that it hard for us today, familiar as we are with pure mathematical abstraction and with the mental act of generalization, to appreciate the originality of this Pythagorean contribution because we do not know in what sense Pythagorean and mathematikoi were studying mathematics. Regarding to this we do not know what work is his anf what is his followers because there wasn t much writing. Even though from the Pythagoras actual work nothing is known, Braumbaugh writes that he studied proportion of numbers, odd and even numbers, perfect numbers, etc. and he states: Each number had its own personality masculine or feminine, perfect or incomplete, beautiful or ugly. This feeling modern mathematics has deliberately eliminated, but we still find overtones if it in fiction and poetry. Ten was the very best number: it contained in itself the first four integers one, two, three, and four [1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10] and these written in dot notation formed a perfect triangle. Within the span of three years, 120 colonists disappeared from an English colony on Roanoke Island, a small piece of land off the coast of North Carolina. The evidence left behind barely gives us a clue as to what could have happened to the entire colony. With the testimony of John White, the leader of the colony that left the settlement to get more supplies, and what little evidence there is, there have been many theories as to what actually caused the disappearance. When trying to make a logical conclusion about the disappearance of the 120 inhabitants of the colony at Roanoke, there are many factors to consider. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The purpose of this overtly hostile action was to obtain information from the chief about the defensive capabilities of the surrounding Indian nations. This action only served to alienate the tribe and force the settlers to depend on the fruits of their own labors... within months the first Roanoke colony was in disarray and the settlers were near starving (Croatoan). The colony barely lasted until Sir Francis Drake s fleet sailed by in 1586 when Drake offered supplies or a trip back to their homeland. The settlers, starving and homesick, quickly accept the offer and return to England. Not even a week later a relief ship arrives with supplies to discover the settlement abandoned. The supply ship left fifteen men with a reasonable amount of food before departing (The Settlement). Raleigh s first colony was an instructive test run for a second, more planned effort. He determined that if the colony was relocated 80 miles north in the Chesapeake Bay shipping would be essentially easier. He also decided to reconfigure the core of the colony by allowing seventeen women, nine children, and two ex convicts under their new leader. In order to compete successfully in the car industry in Australia, Eagle Motors Ltd needs to conduct an analysis of the industry context in which they would like to operate. Using the porters five forces model, this provides a detailed analysis of the competitive nature of the Australian car industry and also it suggests an appropriate competitive strategy for Eagle Motors to gain a sustainable competitive advantage. Eagle Motors Ltd is planning to employ a mixture of Swedish and Australian managers and employees to run there operations in Australia. However, the senior management at Eagle Motors does ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... High fixed costs: This result in an economy of scales effect that increases rivalry. High exit barriers: High exiting barriers in the car industry place a high cost of abandoning products, hence firms compete intensely not to loose out, like Mitsubishi. Industry shakeout: A growing market and high profits induces new firms like Eagle Motors to enter market and increase production which again increases competition and rivalry. Threat of Substitutes: In porter s theory, substitutes refer to products in other industries, not different types of the product. A substitute exists when a products demand is affected by a change in the price of the substitute product. For Eagle motors the price elasticity for cars is affected by substitute products such as public transport, motorcycles and bicycles for example. If more of these substitutes become available, the demand for cars becomes more elastic since customers have more alternatives. A close substitute makes it difficult for a company like Eagle motors to raise prices. In Australia now the use of public transport and other forms of transport like bicycles have increased largely because of the rise in petrol prices. In an already competitive market for cars, Eagle Motors needs to be aware of the increasing petrol prices, and the tendency for consumers to switch to lower cost substitutes like public ... • 10. Learning From A Foreign Language Learning to write in a foreign language Life is weird and unexpected. You don t know what is coming up or what is going through. You don t know what s next, but you do have choices, plans and Images of your future. I started reading and writing when I was 4, it was in Arabic and writing in Arabic doesn t have many rules. So by the age of eight, I was done with learning how to read and write, and started my science studies. I gained some of my skills through writing in Arabic like meditation and the way of thinking, but this part of life is barely related to the kind of writer I am now, because writing in English is completely different. My first experience with reading and writing in English started when I chose to attend an out siding high school in another city. It was a school for top students. Joining this school was my start point with the English and academic writing. It was also my start point to be here in the US, more than 7,000 miles away from home. Looking back, if I didn t join this school, I wouldn t be able to write and read in English and I wouldn t be able to come here. So life is pretty cool about that, it s just one choice led to a very long series of events that shaped my writing skills and attitudes. Starting the high school, one the most significant series of events that shaped my writing skills, was my academic studies. When I joined the school, I was very weak in English and most of my ... From The End Of The Second Why California is a Trendsetter From the end of the Second World War to the present day, California strengthened its area as a political, social, and cultural trendsetter. California is also extraordinary than most other states because of its diversity in the people and climate. California s diverse topographical features such as, the rainfall, temperature and sunlight vary throughout the state. The seasons also vary in California changing the areas climate. As well as car industry that arose in California, there was also a vital airline industry developed in and near Los Angeles and San Diego (Osborne, 250). Because of these industries taking off in California many other states wanted what that state had. Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, the women and minority groups of California became extremely confident in their own rights (Osborne, 313). Many white, middle class women focused on their freedom rather than their religious views. Because of this, this also started to happen in other states. They wanted people to listen so these groups made there way to Pat Brown s office (Osborne, 313). These women would not back down and Browns journey to appreciate ethnic diversity and gender justice was a long one. Brown mocked the homosexuals in San Fransisco and he gave no thought about women with respect to equal rights (Osborne, 313). As times changed, so did his views on rights for minorities and women. The counterculture movement started in the 1960s causing California to start another trend. • 12. Southwest Porters Five Forces Essay EWMBA 299 Competitive Strategy Southwest Airlines Introduction The domestic US airline industry has been intensely competitive since it was deregulated in 1978. In a regulated environment, most of the cost increases were passed along to consumers under a fixed rate of return based pricing scheme. This allowed labor unions to acquire a lot of power and workers at the major incumbent carriers were overpaid. After deregulation, the incumbent carriers felt the most pain, and the floodgates had opened for newer more nimble carriers with lower cost structures to compete head on with the established airlines. There were several bankruptcies followed by a wave of consolidation with the fittest carriers surviving and the rest being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The minimum efficient scale was not very high since airlines could choose to compete in a few markets, and costs were more or less proportional to the number of flights offered and the number of markets the airline wanted to operate in. The main consideration for profitable entry seemed to be the ability of airlines to fill their airplanes above the breakeven point. In an industry fraught with price competition, brand identity and reputation did not have significant value either. In the airline industry, exit costs are not very high either. Planes could be easily redeployed to other markets, or sold off, and gates and landing rights could be sub leased to other carriers. Substitutes There are a number of substitutes to air travel, especially over short distances. These include taking other modes of transportation such as driving, taking the train etc., or not traveling at all. The use of technology (like WebEx, NetMeeting, video conferencing etc.) that facilitates remote virtual collaboration is becoming a good substitute for business air travel as well. • 14. How Is Miss Emily Grierson A Dynamic Character Upon reading William Faulkner s A Rose for Emily, one discovers several colorful characters, including one Miss Emily Grierson of Jefferson, Mississippi. Readers uncover her quirks and specific character traits as seen through the eyes of the townspeople who are highly interested in the goings on in her life. Miss Emily Grierson is a round yet static protagonist who is lonely, unyielding to change, and overcome by her unfortunate life circumstances, and as such she should not be considered a mad woman as many readers might accuse her of being. Miss Emily lived her life almost throughout on display before the town of Jefferson and ultimately this resulted in her lack of socialization and human interaction. The fault in this matter lies with her father, the respected mayor of Jefferson, who protected her and kept her under thumb, driving away every suitor that came to call. People came to picture poor Miss Emily as a slender figure in white in the background, her father a spraddled silhouette in the foreground, his back to her and clutching a horsewhip, the two of them framed by the back flung front door (Faulkner 35). In this visualization, her father clearly stood between her and the real world as a threatening and domineering figure. One might believe that such a prominent figure would interact with the public on a daily basis in a positive manner, but it appears that the Grierson status only encouraged the prying eyes of the townspeople to impede on Miss Emily s ... • 15. Taking a Look at an Electromagnetic Relay Patent Project: Electromagnetic Relay Describe the problem: The electromagnetic relay is used many different applications as a switch. It allows the signal to pass through the relay, when the magnetic coil is turned on, connecting 2 contact points together. It works as follows: The relay is made with a bobbin, a coil, a fixed magnetic core, and a movable armature. When the coil is excited, with the magnetic field generated, the armature is maneuvered such that it will be repositioned when the magnetic field is turned on so that the contacts touch and the signal travels through the relay. This design was developed in 1825 [1] and has not since been changed. One drawback to this design is that the utilization of the magnetic flux generated is not efficient. Thus the electrical power supplied to the relay is not sufficiently used making for a flaw in the design, a loss of power. More power is used, when less could be consumed if the design were to be changed. Thus the problem of the current electromagnetic relay is that the power supplied is not used efficiently, so there is a waste of power. This led to dissatisfaction amongst Catholics culminating in the 1798 Rebellion. This was therefore a new way of addressing the Irish Question and gaining middle class support, which wouldn t want to support violent rebellion that might harm their property. O Connell convinced the population that there was a link between political equality and economic prosperity, by saying that if they got the vote they would also gain economic benefits and the Ascendancy would end as Catholics gained positions of power. • 23. Aspects Of The Origin Of Ma Aspects of the origin of MA Literature on management accounting origin split in to two completely different categories. One that explains the development through what is called economic approach and the second through non economic approach. Economic approach First signs of management accounting emerged as tool of cost control in early 19th century. This is when many businesses were simply made up of a group of people who specialised in certain individual areas. Production and supply of raw materials was completely separate at that time. These small businesses were therefore easy and straight forward to manage. The manufacturer would simply determine how much would materials cost and add the cost of work, which is generally evaluating the time that it takes to produce a certain good and set a monetary value. A dramatic wind of change to this was seen during the Industrial Revolution. Businesses became bigger and more complex. Perfect examples could be such as cotton textile factories in England or cotton mills in United States of America. Now instead of individual craftsmen, businesses became big hierarchical enterprises. According to Johnson and Kaplan (1987) this was the emerging point of modern management accounting. Further advancement was noticed in the 19th century: The emergence and rapid growth of railways in the mid nineteenth century was another major driving force in the development of management accounting systems. They remark that the letter was stitched well but it is meant to laugh in the faces of the noblemen (Hawthorne 32). Their view on the letter and rejection of Hester based on it is ironic when she was later requested to make clothes for many in the town, including these women (Hawthorne 47 137). Whether it be fear of replacement or the thought that you are there to make their job more difficult, low level workers resist change. Controlling the improvement will keep the change in effect. The last two steps in the DMADV process are design and verify. Designing a new process from scratch is more difficult than improving an existing process. There are several reasons of why applying the concept of population carrying capacity is difficult to apply to the human population. This includes that humans are able to adapt and we are able change our food source depending on availability. We are also use variety of resources ; however, when our resource run out we import it from another location or substitute it for another resource. We have also discovered technological advances and agricultural techniques that allow for us to maximize the productivity of agricultural land. Some of the dynamics of food supply for the increasing human populations include ways that our population must learn to increase yields. This includes increasing the use of urban farming in cities, avoid planting mono cropping, reducing food waste, and increasing human consumption of grains and less of meat due. • 39. Analysis Of Two Lovers And A Beachcomber By Sylvia Plath Sylvia Plath and Two Lovers and a Beachcomber by the Real Sea Sylvia Plath, while one of the best known poets of the 20th century, has diminished in popularity to the modern audience. Despite this, Plath s work is still poignant today with its self examination of life in the context of poor mental health and its confessional style that has become a staple of American literature. On October 27, 1932, Sylvia Plath was born to Aurelia Schober and Otto Plath, both immigrants of Germanic descent. Although she was born in Boston, Sylvia Plath spent her childhood years in Winthrop, Massachusetts, a smaller coastal town. Unfortunately, Plath lost her father to diabetes related complications in November of 1940 at the young age of eight; however, her eighth year of life also brought her the publication of her first poem in the children s section of The Boston Herald.
