On Narcissism, The Uncanny, And Beyond The Pleasure P
I will focus on three essays by Sigmund Freud: On Narcissism, The Uncanny, and Beyond the
Pleasure Principle. By examining these three essays, the influence of Freud s theories can be
determined. These essays will determine what Freud offers literary critics today and how they use his
theories in their work. Many of Freud s theories overlap; his theories of the unconscious are explored
in Beyond the Pleasure Principle and The Uncanny. In studying Freud s theories, and applying them to
literature and literary criticisms, the progression of psychology and the understanding of humanity
will become clear. Psychological theory studies the human mind. In relation to literature,
psychological theory studies the characters. What are their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Psychology has always had a deep impact on literature, so much that authors must use this theory to
delve into their characters motivations and actions. It is evident through the three Freud essays
discussed that topics and ideas seem to overlap. This is the nature of studying psychology; concepts
and ideas are connected to create a network that can be studied applied to not only the human mind,
but to the mind of an author or their fictional characters. In applying Sigmund Freud s ideas to
literature, critics can examine characters as if they were real. In our world, these characters are not
real. In the context of a work of fiction, for example, the characters are real. The confines of a novel is
the space in which they are alive. Examining characters as if they too have an unconscious that
compels them to unexplained actions allows critics, and readers of critics, to occupy that character s
headspace and become that character for a

Ethical Issues In Ethics
Ethics
The field of ethics (or moral philosophy) involves systematizing, defending, and recommending
concepts of right and wrong behavior. Philosophers today usually divide ethical theories into three
general subject areas: metaethics, normative ethics, and applied ethics.
Metaethics investigates where our ethical principles come from, and what they mean. Are they merely
social inventions? Do they involve more than expressions of our individual emotions? Metaethical
answers to these questions focus on the issues of universal truths, the will of God, the role of reason in
ethical judgments, and the meaning of ethical terms themselves.
Normative ethics takes on a more practical task, which is to arrive at moral standards that regulate

According to many feminist philosophers, traditional morality is male centered since it is modeled
after practices that have been traditionally male dominated, such as acquiring property, engaging in
business contracts, and governing societies. The rigid systems of rules required for trade and
government were then taken as models for the creation of equally rigid systems of moral rules, such as
lists of rights and duties. Women, by contrast, have traditionally had a nurturing role by raising
children and overseeing domestic life. These tasks require less rule following, and more spontaneous
and creative action. Using the woman s experience as a model for moral theory, then, the basis of
morality would be spontaneously caring for others as would be appropriate in each unique
circumstance. On this model, the agent becomes part of the situation and acts caringly within that
context. This stands in contrast with male modeled morality where the agent is a mechanical actor
who performs his required duty, but can remain distanced from and unaffected by the situation. A care
based approach to morality, as it is sometimes called, is offered by feminist ethicists as either a
replacement for or a supplement to traditional male modeled moral

The Nature Of The Mountain Men
The mountain men were known for their explorations and fur trapping in the Rocky Mountains and
the great plains from about 1810 to 1880. Outside of their explorations and trapping, the Mountain
Men also created Emigrant Trails which allowed Americans of the East to settle in the West. To some
they [mountain men] symbolized the rugged freedom of the frontier, to others, anarchy and
degradation. The debate surrounding mountain men was, at its core, really a debate about the nature of
the West: was the frontier the site of healthy independence or dangerous dissolution? Through the
rising and crashing of the trappers rendezvous in the 1840 s and the scarce enemies that the mountain
men had, Christopher Kit Carson, Jim Bridger, and James Jim Beckwourth continued to lead the
explorations and trappings in the Rocky Mountains making clear that those men were there promoting
healthy independence across the frontier during the 1840 s. For starters, the Mountain Men sold their
fur and created the Rocky Mountain Rendezvous in order to make profit. Essentially, the rendezvous
was a gathering that happened each year in various locations where trappers were able to sell their fur
and hides as well as replenish their supplies(Sage). These events were known to be lively places that
welcomed all (Barkin). The ones that typically showed were free trappers, Indians, native trappers
wives, children, and even travelers that had been passing through(Barkin). James Jim Beckwourth, a

Mitchell s Motivation Theory
Motivation
Introduction
Mitchell (1982, p.82) describes motivation as the degree to which an individual wants and chooses to
engage in certain specified behaviours . Hence, in general, behaviour is determined by certain
motives, thus, Vroom and Deci (1992, p.33) considered motivation as the causes of our behaviour .
Moreover, according to Mullins (2013, p.245) motivation is concerned with question why do people
do what they do? , because motivation is an inner driving force which leads to particular action to
achieve some aim and fulfil some need. In other words, Chartered Management Institute (cited in
Mullins, 2013, p.246) observes that, the aim of management is to give people what they really want
most from work .
Motivation is a complex subject and traditionally has been cast as an individual phenomenon, because,
the uniqueness of each individual is a reflection of different needs, values, attitudes and goals. In that
case, Mitchell (1982, p.81) assumes that all of the main motivational theories allow in one way or
another for uniqueness to be demonstrated. Furthermore, different theories of motivation purpose
different reasons but almost all of them emphasise an individual and intentional choice of behaviour
analysis. As a consequence, Handy (1999, p.29) stresses that if individual behaviour could be analysed
and understood, then the individual motives could be predicted and could be influenced. However, no
certain formula exists. On the other hand, even the

Life In A Tide Pool Research Paper
Ocean water is always moving, and gravity from the sun and the moon pulling on the waters of the
ocean causes what s called tides. Each day there are two high tides, when the water moves higher onto
the beach, and two low tides, when the water moves further away from the beach back out toward the
main body of water. A tidepool is a pool of water left behind by the ocean tides. Oysters, seabirds, blue
crabs, and cordgrass can all live in a tidepool. Let s explore the tidepool habitat.
When high tides come up onto the beach, the water brings animals and plants with it. Tide pools are
formed when low tide takes the water back out toward the sea, and some water gets trapped and left
behind. Things like rocks and low spots, like shallow holes, can keep the water from leaving the beach
area. Plants and animals can make a tidepool their home, or habitat. A habitat is the environment in
which plants and animals live.
Plants and animals in a tidepool habitat live in an aquatic habitat, or water environment. Life in a tide
pool is not easy. Although high tide brings into the tide pool more fresh seawater, animals, and plants,
the waves are very powerful. Also, once low tide happens again, the tide pool begins ... Show more

Some creatures found in tide pools, such as starfish and anemones, have special suction cup type of
feet that are sticky and help them to securely attach to solid things such as rocks so they won t get

but some species of starfish have 10 or even 40 arms! Their colors help them hide from predators, and
they have bony, hard skin to also help protect them. The sticky foot of the sea anemone has venom

The law was passed that all Natives had to leave. Cherokees believed even if they stayed they would
still have to deal with all the troublesome White neighbors, therefore their best option was to leave.
There was nothing they could do because the whites were too powerful as said in doc 5. It is argued
that they can never remain quiet where they are;n that they will always be infested by troublesome
whites; and that the states, which lay claim their territory, will always preserve in measures to vex and
annoy them. The Natives didn t understand why the white people wanted them gone so bad, because
the white people tried so hard to change the Natives culture to make them act like the white people.
The Natives changed they way they acted, worked, and how they looked. In doc 7 it says The
Cherokees have been reclaimed from their wild habits. Instead of hunters, they have become the
cultivators of the soil instead of wild and ferocious savages, thirsting for blood, they become the mild
citizens. The Cherokees were really upset, because not only were they leaving what had now become
their norm they were also leaving their land which had been passed down through their family. The
Cherokees started a petition to the United States asking for them to fulfill their treaty they had made.
In doc 9. It says Cherokee people used no violence but humbly petitioned the Government of the

Hitler s Abolishment of Relationships
In 1939 September 1st, a man with ambition set out to achieve his goal, the total control over the
European continent, which many of the previous rulers had failed to accomplish. Adolf Hitler, the man
with such ambition, committed the worst genocide ever known to humankind with the support of his
fellow Nazi party of Germany. This forced six million Jews to work in concentration camps. They
were constantly humiliated, tortured, and murdered by various inhumane methods. Such actions
eventually succeeded in wiping out one third of the Jewish population in Europe. The book The
concentration camps not only physically and psychologically damaged the people, it tore apart many
different relationships that were initially solid, resulting in the loss of faith in humanity.
During their enslavement at the concentration camps, the Jewish fundamental belief of benevolence
and preeminence are shredded to pieces. Jewish people lived in small, packed communities prior to
the war, with their religion deeply rooted in. Their devoted faith has its base on the idea that the world
revolves around the God. They believe the world, therefore, must good because God s divinity reaches
on every aspect of their lives. However, the Jews faith in the goodness of God is irreparably shaken
due to the horrors witnessed in the concentration camps. In the story, the Jews faith in God started to
waver at the sight of giant smokes rising from the smoke stacks of the Birkenau concentration camp.

Characteristics Of Queen Elizabeth A Machiavellian Ruler
A Machiavellian ruler is ravenous, manipulative, ingenious, intriguing, and authoritative as described
in Niccolo Machiavelli s book, The Prince. Queen Elizabeth I of England is the daughter of Anne
Boleyn and King Henry VIII. Unfortunately, her mother was executed by King Henry VII; her father
remarried numerously throughout her childhood causing distress and constant change. Throughout
King Henry s multiple marriages, Elizabeth acquired step siblings, Queen Mary I of England and King
Edward VI of England; Mary also eventually succeeded the throne after Edward s death. As Mary
ruled she developed a cancerous tumor, Mary held Elizabeth hostage in the Tower of London until she
promised to keep Catholicism in England. However, Elizabeth neither agreed nor disagreed to keep
England Roman Catholic when she was released from the Tower of London. After Mary s death,

compromises, strengthening England s power, and developing a sense of unity between Protestants
and Catholic (Beck, Black, Krieger, Naylor, and Shabaka 60). In addition, Queen Elizabeth created the
Poor Laws throughout 1563 1601, which were a series of laws that established a tax that would benefit
the poor by decreasing poverty ( Briscoe, Alexandra Poverty in the Elizabethan Era ). Furthermore,
establishing the Poor Laws was a change that conformed to the expectations of society because Queen

use his skills to dribble past the defenders to score the wonderful goal to put us back in the game. Now
Billy has the ball going full speed and takes the shot but was barely saved but our goalkeeper. The
goalkeeper tossed the ball to a defender who made a perfect pass to Steve. Steve had a wide open shot
for the goal if he dribbled in just a bit more. Then all of a sudden, as Steve takes the shot Billy comes
in and runs into Steve, but the ball was already in the air and went right past the goalkeeper to score.
Steve laid on the ground in brutal pain. Rolling on the ground holding his knee. The coaches and
medics ran out on to the field and the referee gave Billy a yellow card which was a warning. The
crowd yelled frustrated at the call. Meanwhile The medics got Steve off the field. The coach came

Mildred Gillars Propaganda
During World War II, radio was heavily used for propaganda purposes. Most of the time governments
aimed it at their own citizens, but some countries used it to send false and inaccurate messages to
opposition. In 1940, Germany used radio 24/7 all around the world and in many different languages as
an instrument of policy, ideology, and propaganda. Their efforts to relate to American citizens were
truly unsuccessful until a failed Broadway actress from Ohio Mildred Gillars accepted a job offer from
the German state radio division. For approximately three years, Gillars was a part of various types of
German radio shows that aimed at undermining American soldiers morale and made her one of the

Man Is Not An Individual
Man is not an individual. He is a social organism. God loves him only who serves other beings man,
cattle and other creatures. His glory lies in being a member of a big family. On the one hand, man is
bound by blood kinship his parents, his wife , his children and on the other , he is linked with every
individual of society whether near or far from his, it is given to man to link himself with those who
constitute his ancestry and also think of those who would be his posterity. Man possessed of certain
inalienable rights. Thus lives, works and dies for society. Man is expected to develop his craft, science
and technology and lead society from poverty to prosperity with a happy today and a happier
tomorrow.
Crime is inevitable in human society. No doubt , we have progressed a lot in every sphere of life and
struggle to achieve immortality is going on, but yet in this journey from animal way of life to the
human way of life, still we are haunted by the thought of animal instincts. Every where some human
beings have fallen outside the pattern of permitted conduct. It is best to fact that crime cannot be
abolished except in a non existence utopia. Commenting on this aspect Durkherim in his treatise a
crime as a normal phenomenon says, a society composed of persons with angelic qualities would not
be free from violation of the norms of that society . In fact, crime is a constant phenomenon changing
with the social change.

In the poem, The Crunch by Charles Bukowski, it talks about some of the major topics that are
important to us in this world. The poem explains how some people can feel insecure about themselves.
People believe they need to look perfect to succeed in life. The poem says the world has a sense of
loneliness and how people are not the same anymore. Charles Bukowski explains the many problems
that people are having, however it seems it is all mental. Charles Bukowski s work displays how the
people are living with a lack of happiness. People are just not being nice to people, no matter who you
are. People just are not good to each other one on one. The rich are not good to the rich the poor are

How Immunogenicity Is Defined By The Ability Of Certain...
Immunogenicity is defined by the ability of certain substances, such as an antigen or epitope, to elicit
an immune response in the human body. This immune response can either be humoral or cell
mediated. Antigens, or immunogens, can include proteins which are the most potent and
polysaccharides whereas lipids and nucleic acids often do not serve as antigens unless they conjugate
with either a protein or polysaccharide. Proteins and polysaccharides are often used as immunogens to
study experimental humoral immune response and proteins are often used to study cell mediated
immunity. Specific properties and nature of an immunogen determines its immunogenicity. According
to the sixth edition of the textbook Immunology by Kuby, Immunogenicity is determined in part by
four properties of the immunogen: its foreignness, molecular size, chemical composition and
complexity, and ability to be processed and presented with an MHC molecule on the surface of an
antigen presenting cell or altered self cell. The first property, foreignness, is further explained by the
principle that the body has to determine self from non self, making certain molecules foreign allowing
for an immune response. The degree of immunogenicity of an antigen when introduced to an organism
depends on its degree of foreignness. The authors of the textbook compare antigenicity to help
comprehend this concept. They claim that the greater the phylogenetic distance between species, the
greater the structural

if you focus on one thing at a time, it helps you understand it better. I plan on working towards just

Liberia Civil War Essay
Liberian Civil war fought in 1989 1996, is among the most deadly and destructive war in the history
that lasted for more than 7 years and killed almost 3 hundred thousand people. This war was the worst
ever in the history of Africa because it caused the infrastructural and property damage in the country.
The war also displaced more than 1 million people in refugee camps in neighboring countries. This
war led to a complete breakdown of law and order in the country. There was not any direct cause that
led to this war but several reasons contributed in the creation of this destructive event. Hunger for
power, greed and opportunities to control and to get more out of Liberia s natural resources were the
main reasons behind this conflict. As D. Elwood Dunn quoted We begin with the assumption that the
conflict arose from the tugs and pulls of different identities the differential distribution of ... Show

I think it is imperative that a writer have the most invaluable information on hand when preparing to
write. This is generally the who, where, when, why, and how. My paper addresses these elements by
pinpointing historical significance of government figures/events in the nation of Liberia (3 7). I
wanted to include all of these facts out of respect for Liberian history, as well as to refine my
academic writing skills (with respect to detail/structure). A good writer must appear to be informed, as
he/she is in a sort of leadership position: leading an argument/statement in one direction or another,
before an audience. Therefore, readers look to the writer as a sort of authority figure; it is assumed that
the presenter of the information is well educated on the topic, and also confident in their ability to
deliver the message. I feel that my paper through use of these factual details also reflects my

Morgan Freeman Mentor
Tennessee born actor Morgan Freeman often plays the role of a mentor or father figure. This can be
seen in numerous films starring Freeman, including, An Unfinished Life, Last Knights, Lean on Me,
The Magic of Belle Isle, and Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. In all of these films, he is a mentor to at
least one person who has lost a father. However, although he has been pigeonholed as the mentor,
Freeman is capable of portraying a wide variety of characters, and demonstrates this in the
aforementioned films as well as others. In Last Knights, London has Fallen, Dreamcatcher, and Lean
on Me, Freeman s characters Lord Bartok, Allan Trumball, Colonel Curtis, and Joe Clark are strong
leaders who refuse to submit to opposition. Although these characters ... Show more content on

Freeman plays the role accordingly, saying his lines in a stereotypical, strong black dialect akin to
Uncle Remus from Song of the South, with the noticeable quirk of pronouncing the letter r with two

suggested by the grammatical structure of his lines. He maintains a calm countenance throughout most
of the film, showing that, like Red, he is acclimated to his circumstances, but his tone is jollier,

Book Report On The Movie Valentine
THEY rolled. Valentine watched the SUV flip twice, slamming into a shipping container and
careening off into a brutal spin on its roof. He laughed, high and harsh. Then he limped after them,
following the trail of broken glass and splinters of plastic and metal. Valentine led with the pistol he d
taken from one of the sailors, gripped in both hands. He ignored the pain in his right palm where he d
sliced it open as the cheap steak knife had broken off in the sailor s neck. He d had worse. Finish the
job. The SUV had stopped moving now, oily smoke rising into the night like winter fog. A figure
struggled out on the far side, the door screaming as it popped open. Valentine snapped off a quick
shot, but it went wide. The figure stumbled away, towards the cover of a hulking mass of shipping
containers. Even in the shadows, Valentine saw that they were big. Moving faster than he expected.
Hirsch. Valentine went into a crouch, skirting around the edge of the SUV wreck. His ankle burned
dully where he d jumped from the trawler. His palm was slick with blood. The burned tattoos along
his back and arms itched and stung. But Hirsch he wasn t worried about. Hirsch wasn t the problem.
Gunfire crackled in the darkness. Valentine flinched, but the fusillade was nowhere near him.
Someone guessing. Laying down blind cover fire. He hugged the shadows on the edge of the
containers, working his away around the SUV. He picked his way carefully, the pistol held steady.

How Does Shakespeare Create Tension In Act 1 Of Julius Caesar
Friends, Romans, countrymen, lend me yours ears. Julius Caesar was written by William Shakespeare.
It is believed that it was first published in 1623. The play is mostly historically accurate despite minor
details. Shakespeare took a few liberties while writing this play but not very many. The story starts out
with a battle and ends in the same fashion. In the short 70 page play, so much happens. Act 1 sets the
mood and introduces characters. Act 2 however begins to show tension in Rome and a conspiracy
forming towards Julius Caesar. We will look at many more things that transpire in this intriguing play.
In doing so, we will be comparing the characters of Julius Caesar and Brutus.
The plot starts to thicken when the conspirators come together. These men, to name a few, were
Brutus, Cassius, Casca, and Cinna. They believed that Caesar was evil and that his pride and ego
would hurt Rome. They toyed with the thought of murdering Caesar s close friend, Marc Antony.
They decided against it. The conspirators agreed that Antony was just simply a limb from the tree of
Julius Caesar. They made the comparison of Caesar to a serpent. If they could crush the egg before it
hatched, it would be for the greater good. According to historical fact, Brutus truly believed the
twisted truth that this murder ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

he wouldn t listen. His ego was too strong. He did have some help building his ego up. One of the
conspirators, Decius, visited Caesar the very night of his wife s dreams. He was able to convince
Caesar that his wife didn t know what she was talking about. This was Caesar s fatal flaw,

Children Must Become Competent in Reading Before They Have...
Introduction
Writing has existed as far back as the 7th millennium BC and the 4th millennium BC, it first started
with mnemonic symbols which later became a system of ideograms. In the early days people wrote on
different things, such as silk, rocks, wood, papyrus etc. It wasn t Until the 15th century were parchment
or vellum (calfskin) were used as pages for the first books.
A book can be said to be a set of written or printed made of ink and paper usually fastened together or
coupled electronically (e books) for the purpose of storing or recording information. Collins and
Cheek (1999) explained that reading involves a complex thought process in order to understand a
writing or printed message. According to Rubin (2002), reading is a total integrative process that starts
with the reader and includes the affective, perceptual, and cognitive domains. Okebukola (2004)
affirms that,by reading books, humans have the tools to transmit knowledge from one generation to
another; it allows one to listen to the wisdom of those who have lived in the past and so on. This even
expressed by religious prophets. The Apostle Paul in the bible admonished Timothy study to show
yourself approved unto God (11 timothy 2:15). Islam values acquisition of knowledge (literacy,
reading, etc.) As very important The holy Qur an reveals that the first communication ( between Allah
and Prophet Muhammad was intellectual.

Power Of Language Response Paper
Response Paper #2
In this section I will be exploring the themes Power of stories and storytelling along with Power of
language . Both of these themes interconnect with one another. Power of language is a very crucial
part of storytelling. Power of language has a great deal of influence in a story. The words authors
choses to use to tell a story leads the reader in a certain direction and emphasizes the important ideas
and information. Through the use of language in specific ways story tellers can manipulate
readers/audience to understand the story they are telling through a specific perspective, which is their
perspective. Manipulation of words can also lead one to believe that the story someone is telling them
is the reality, rather ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a specific example, in the short story Cities Memories 3 by Calvino, the author tells the story
through the use of personification, this is demonstrated through this quote The city, however, does not
tell its past, but contains it like the lines of a hand... (Calvino, 43). This quote also illustrates how
Reading Contextually is used in this short story. The author uses metaphor to tell the reader/audience
that the lines of one s hands are the streets in the city. Furthermore, when examining the theme of
Power of Language and The Power of Stories and Story Telling it is important to consider, who this
form of storytelling benefit? How does it benefit them? The way a story is told mainly benefits the
story teller. It helps the story teller tell their story and get the outcome or results they hope to see from
the reader/audience through the use of all the elements that have been discussed throughout. This is
exemplified through the social media today. The media reveals information to its audience in such
ways that people believe it to be the truth and they don t often question it. But what people fail to
realise is that there is always more to a story than what is just presented to you. Story tellers only tell

Aortic Insufficiency Lab Report
Introduction
Aortic insufficiency is a condition where the aortic valve does not close all the way. The aortic valve is
a gate like structure that is located between the lower left chamber of the heart (left ventricle) and the
blood vessel that leads away from the heart (aorta). The aortic valve opens when the left ventricle
squeezes to pump blood into the aorta, and it closes when the left ventricle relaxes.
In aortic insufficiency, blood in the aorta leaks through the aortic valve after it has closed. As a result,
the heart works harder to pump the same amount of blood through the valve as it would if the valve
closed tightly. When left untreated, aortic insufficiency causes enlargement and weakening of the left
ventricle. When this happens, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Electrocardiography. This is a test that records the electrical impulses of the heart.
Angiography. This is a test that produces images of arteries in your body. You may need aortic
angiography or CT angiography. In aortic angiography, a dye flows to your heart through a soft,
flexible tube (catheter) while X rays are taken. CT angiography uses a CT scanner and MRI in
addition to the catheter, dye, and X rays.
How is this treated?
Treatment depends on how severe the aortic insufficiency is, the problems it is causing, and your
symptoms.
Observation. If the aortic insufficiency is mild, no treatment may be needed. However, you will need
to have the condition checked regularly to make sure it is not getting worse or causing serious
problems.
Surgery. If the aortic insufficiency becomes severe, you may need surgery to repair or replace the
valve. Surgery is usually recommended if the left ventricle enlarges beyond a certain point. If aortic
insufficiency occurs suddenly, surgery may be needed immediately.
Medicines. Some medicines may help the heart work more efficiently.

Social Psychological Principles of the Movie Unforgiven
Florida Institute of Technology
Most movies have different social psychological principles, however most people are watching
movies to be entertained, and not to psychologically analyze them. There are many different principles
that would be applicable to the film we are discussing however, I have chosen to analyze three scenes
discussing altruism, self fulfilling prophecy, and counterfactual thinking. Please review the following
scenes and analysis from the movie Unforgiven:
Scene
* The first scene is the opening scene when a man was upstairs in the saloon/brothel with a prostitute

the doorway. Munny shoots and kills the owner, followed by several of Little Bill s crew. He ends up
shooting Little Bill but not killing him. Munny tells the remaining patrons to leave the saloon if they
don t want to get killed. While Munny is going back to his shot of whiskey, he hears Little Bill cock
his gun. Just as he is about to fire, Munny stops him by stomping on the arm holding the gun. He
stands over him, barrel down, Little Bill says I don t deserve this, to die like this. I was building a
house . Munny then says Deserve s got nothing to do with it . Little Bill says I ll see you in hell
William Munny , and Munny cocks his gun, says Yeah , and shoots him dead.
In this scene, the social psychological principle that is relevant is self fulfilling prophecy. Self
fulfilling prophecy is the process by which one s expectations about a person eventually lead that
person to behave in way that confirm those expectations (Kassin, Markus amp; Fein, 2010). Ned and
Munny himself were the last people that thought Munny could be the whiskey drinking cold blooded
killer that he used to be. Munny got married, had kids and settled down. He was just a pig farmer now.

The Importance Of The Human Body And Mind
I think the human body and mind is amazing. I studied Psychology and I m still fascinated by human
interactions. What scares me is how little we know about the brain and how it manages to create
feelings and thoughts whilst simultaneously controlling the entire body.
Why is the brain important?
The more we understand the structures of the brain and how the brain controls emotions the better
chance we have of increasing wellness. I m not a neuroscientist but the developments in this field are
worth your attention.
Signing up to build a Naked Tool Kit means only the naked truth is spoken. You won t find any wild
claims of seven day fixes here because they don t exist. The naked truth: understudying our body,
mind and what we need to do to look after ourselves can be a challenge.
Here s some interesting information from Neuroscientist and Psychologist Lisa Feldman Barret s book
How Emotions Are Made
Your brain has the capacity to make new emotions ALL the time. This idea goes against the classical
view of emotions being pre wired and triggered by what happens in the world. This is a radical
research claim.
There is no one size fits all when it comes to emotions. Variety is the norm! For example, someone
might laugh, cry or shout loudly when happy.
No matter how confident you are at reading people (especially dealing with people across cultures)
you can t assume you know how someone else feels. History documents catastrophic mistakes made
in politics and business when this has been attempted. (This means no therapist can truly know how
you feel. YOU are the expert of your feelings and how you can manage their impacts).
We all have basic wiring to feel unpleasant, pleasant, calm and distressed. We are the architect of our
emotions after this. Data shows the brain isn t reacting to the world, it s predicting and making
emotions from a basic set of ingredients it has acquired since you were born. Just like making
different recipes from the ingredients you have in your kitchen (flour, water, eggs etc); similarly your
brain has a set of networks it uses in recipes to make different emotional states.
The same neural networks that work together to produce emotions work together to produce rational

Compare And Contrast Alice And Lia Vidaurri
It all started when a Mexican mother decided that she wanted her children and her brother s children
to have a better education than she was ever given. In the fall of 1944, Soledad Vidaurri decided to
take her children and her nephews to enroll in the Seventeenth Street School in Westminster,
California. Although they were cousins and had the same Mexican heritage, the Méndez children and
the Vidaurri children looked very different: Sylvia, Gonzalo Jr., and Geronimo Méndez had dark skin,
hair, and eyes, while Alice and Virginia Vidaurri had fair complexions and features. An administrator
took one look over those five children and decided that Alice and Virginia could stay but their dark
skinned cousins could not and would have to register at Hoover School, the town s Mexican school.
Outraged and in complete disbelief of what just happened, Vidaurri took all the kids home and decided
not to register any of them. (A Tale of Two Schools)
Their parents found out what had happened and they were in utter disbelief. At first, Gonzalo and

Active Learning Is The Best Option Of Learning
Active learning is productive, enhances opportunities and is supported or directed by technology.
However, that is not to say that active learning is the best option of learning for all. To determine how
well students learn while not physically in a classroom we need to evaluate how well learning takes
place in on line classroom environments. Skorton (2013) documented that an online course has the
potential to transform higher educations with substantial benefits for students, their eventual
employers, and participating communities. Therefore, evaluation of learning environments indicates a
real measure of the effectiveness of what is learned. Experiments have shown the way that it is
beneficial to a person s daily activities or student however; from experiences, there should be a means
to demonstrate what is learned. Did learning take place, at least to meet defined objectives from a
class or other learning environments? To me learning via collaborative, instructional, and with a team
of mixed backgrounds can promote a higher degree (Jones 1995). My initial thoughts on this subject
were that active learning seems to be a bit more difficult in an online course that it would be sitting in
an actual classroom with the personal and physical interactions of others. That is unless there are
sessions providing interactive, near real time or live online classes. Learning in a classroom or while
sitting at home on the couch accessing classrooms through online resources is

Characteristics Of Kang-Hsi In Emperor Of Chini
The difference between being on the winning side and being on the losing side is the leader you will
have. Think of it like a sports team. You can have all the star players you want, but if you do not have
the right coach to lead the team, then they will not be successful. In Emperor of China: Self Portrait of
Kang Hsi by Jonathan D. Spence, Spence compiles the Emperor s own writings to give readers an
inside like of what the Kang Hsi did while he was the Emperor of China and the techniques he used in
his life to lead China. The traits used by the Emperor of China, Kang Hsi, allowed him to successfully
rule China during his lifetime and improve the livelihoods of those living there. In Emperor of China,
Kang Hsi s writings list many traits that made him a successful ruler of China. There are so many
traits he listed that we could be here forever, so I will whittle it down to what I think are the top three
traits that made Kang Hsi a good leader. The first one is to look for the good in people. Kang Hsi
himself said this, when he wrote, It s a good principle to look for the good points in a person and to
ignore the bad. If you are always suspicious of people, they will suspect you too. (Spence 34). Kang
Hsi believes it is necessary to be trustful of those you meet. He also believes that you should treat
others the way you want to be treated. If you treat someone with suspicion, then that person would

Gobblet Research Paper
Philosophy asks us, What is happiness ? Aristotle sums it up as the irredeemable currency in which we
should dedicate our lives to collecting. I say, its a board game. I have been playing board games, dice
games, and card games as soon as I could count. In fact I learned how to do such things for the sole
purpose of getting to play these games. From my compendium of knowledge, I wish to display a
single game. It stands above the hundreds of games I have played. It possess the simple mechanics of
a children s game, but holds enough strategic possibilities to even entertain the hardcore chess player.
Gobblet has a colorful recent history in the game world. First I will cover a little bit of its background,
and achievements. Then I will move onto the game itself, going over how it works to a little bit of
strategy. Lastly I ll wrap up with my experiences with the game. Stated on the blue orange web site,
the company founded by Gobblets maker, the concept of Gobblet was born sometime in the late 90 s.

Two players may play, each one choosing one set of pieces, black or white. On a players turn they can
move a piece from either their stacks or on the board, to a tile on the board. The feature that gives the
games its name, is the ability to gobble up pieces. This can be done by a player just putting a larger
piece of his, onto any piece smaller on the board. Who knew such a tiny feature could turn a easy
game of tic tak toe into a memory game of strategy. Now allow me to impart my knowledge of this
game to you. The first thing you must realize in Gobblet is that, in reality, you are not working to set
up one row of four. Instead you have to be setting up multiple rows at a time. My three year old can
see when I ve got three pieces in a row, who ever your playing with will see it to. There are multiple
ways of going about this. We will proceed from the easiest to

School Pass Research Paper
Little did I know the school pass I received from the office ended up being more than what I had
originally thought. As a sophomore, I knew that most of the passes were for guidance appointments or
doctor s appointment. After the pass was handed to me, several thoughts ran through my mind. What
is this pass for? Maybe this is just for an appointment I had completely forgotten about. Or could I be
in trouble? My legs moved quickly down the stairs and through the main hallway, shuffling in
between people to get to the main office. After getting to the office and taking a quick glance out the
windows, I saw what looked like my sister s car. I wondered what she was doing at the school,
considering she had graduated that summer. I realized this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I looked up to her desire to help people and better herself at the same time. In the beginning, I
struggled with her not being around. It was a lot of change all at once, not only for me but also my
family. She was the person I went to for anything and everything. Knowing the distance between us
existed was what made everything so hard. It was difficult for me to wrap my head around the fact that
I wasn t able to just walk down the hallway or take a short drive to see my best friend. The shortest
trip to see her would be by an airplane. I thought I would be able to talk to her all the time but this was
not the case. As time went on, I began to understand that school came first for her and that I needed to
let her study and make new friends. I learned to be patient and that she would get ahold of me when
her time was not occupied. She got to come home for breaks, so that made things easier for our family
too. When she had the opportunity to come home for breaks, our relationship remained constant. It s
like we picked up where we left off when she left. She filled in the room she grew up in as if she d
never left, took me on drives with the music blaring through the windows, and continued to give me
fashion advice no matter how much she complained about

Symbolism In The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz
In 1900, L. Frank Baum authored the famed The Wonderful Wizard of Oz book. This was followed by
being produced as a Broadway musical in 1902, and the motion picture release in 1939 (Zwissler,
2014). The popularity of this story is nearly unfathomable. According to the Library of Congress
(1992), The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is the most watched film in motion picture history (in Zwissler,
2014). Scalise Sugiyama and Sugiyama (2011) suggest that stories such as these originated as oral
warnings and eventually became literary warnings, followed by sharing similar warnings in a film.
Although this may be true for some stories, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz used symbolism to tell a
story of the time period, instead of serving as a typical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The munchkins may have represented the average citizen, as they were small and described as busy
workers but having minimal influence in the story. The Tinman may have represented American
industrial workers who were degraded by the Robber Barons in the late nineteenth century and early
years of the twentieth century. Although the book was written much earlier, the movie debuted at the
end of the Great Depression. The Cowardly Lion may have represented some of the week politicians
during the period. History reveals that many politicians, of the time, were controlled by big industry,
and those who were not corrupt, were often powerless to enact need changes. The Wicked Witches of
the East and West may have represented eastern business and the western industrialists, while the
Good Witches of the North and South may have represented the northern industrial workers and the
southern farmers. The flying monkeys may have represented Native American Indians. In the story,
Dorothy is told that the monkeys were once free and lived happily on the land until Oz took control of
the land. Oz may have represented the U.S. government, while the Wizard may have represented the

My Music Redub Movie Interpretation
The Music Redub was an interesting project. At first it seemed straight forward and easy, but as I
began thinking about the the Film School movement and how the great directors used their film
history knowledge to format something new, I realized that great attention to detail, editing, and music
choice, all influence the final film product. My Music Redub marries the ending scene of Tommy Boy
with Tommy in the sailboat saying goodbye to his father with the theme music to Jaws. The twist of
having the heavy Jaws theme paired with the lighthearted Tommy talking to his father changes the
whole feel of the scene. I chose to feature a clip from the B movie and cult classic Tommy Boy in my
Music Redub. Growing up in northwest Ohio, Tommy Boy (1995) was the movie that everyone
referenced and quoted because it featured the hometown of Sandusky, Ohio. That s gonna leave a
mark! was your instant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Dad s help is seen through the grass, trees, and wind moving the sailboat. In the Music Redub version,
Tommy asks for a little help, and then Jaw theme starts. The movement of the grass and trees, paired
with the music, makes the viewer anticipate something bad to happen. When Tommy hits his head on
the boom, it appears that it was an attack, rather than the wind moving the sail. Music in a film creates
the atmosphere and is very important in setting the mood of a scene. The Music Redub helped me to
learn more about the decisions that an editor must consider in the movie making process. It was fun to
create incoherence in the scene by changing the music. Both Tommy Boy and Jaws are cult classics
and B movies that were given the block buster treatment. Both movies have survived through the
years and are enjoyed by both all types of audiences. Whenever I hear the Jaw theme music, I know
that it is definitely going to leave a

Personal Reflective Statement
You all must be asking yourselves the following: What does Kevin s eligibility for Special Education
Services have to do with his cultural identity? Specifically how growing up in a Latino household
helped him construct his educational philosophies. Think about it: Today, I would not be determined to
become the great, successful, caring, loving, firm, and knowledgeable teacher that I am destined to
become if it were not for my academic struggles that occurred early on in my educational career. In
fact, I find it pivotal for current and future teachers to realize and understand that his or her life and
educational experiences are valuable and meaningful, especially since it can be used to make a
difference in the lives of his or her students the future of this great diverse nation. Today, I am certain
that my calling is to transform my negative educational experiences, specifically my primary school
years experiences into positive and life changing teachable moments in my future elementary
classroom.
Furthermore, recently, I have decided to read and analyze my eighth grade year psychological
assessment report, mainly because I like to learn more about myself, especially as a learner. According
to the report, which was completed on January 20, 2010, my overall cognitive ability falls in the
borderline range of functioning, scores fall between 71 and 81. A borderline range categorization
(typically an IQ of 70 85) indicates that a person has below average cognitive ability but

Comparing Poems Choices And Road Not Taken
You choose
Trust yourself to make the right choice for YOU. Frequently, in the poems Choices by Nikki
Giovanni, and Road Not Taken by Robert Frost, the narrators are making choices as everyone s life
consists of many choices. The narrators are choosing their further actions which will influence the rest
of their lives. But, the narrators aren t letting others choose for them. In the poems, Choices and Road
Not Taken , the narrators shared a theme of making choices based on an individual s personal
preferences, which is represented by the narrator in Choices who chooses the next best option and the
narrator in Road Not Taken that follows his gut and decision; the two poems contrasted with the
results of the story as the connotation expresses ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Road Not Taken , the text states, I shall be telling this with a sigh, Somewhere ages and ages hence,
(Frost, Stanza 4 Lines 1 2). By using the connotation, the author shows a sign of relief; furthermore,
this means that many years past after he decided his choice. This is significant because it shows that
something went in the narrator s favor; additionally, it shows that Robert Frost is continuing his life
and isn t regretting the choice which means that his decision had a good result. On the other hand,
Choices , stated, but that s why animals among mankind learn to cry, (Giovanni, Stanza 4 Lines 6 7).
The quote is saying that choices will allow creatures to learn how to express personal feelings; in this
instance, sadness is the aching feeling. This is important because cry conveys that something didn t
occur in a human s favor. Furthermore, animals usually don t know how to express and recognize their
feelings, so it shows that something distressing occurred. The two poems contradicted by the result of
the poems; they had a different tone conveying sadness or

  • 2. On Narcissism, The Uncanny, And Beyond The Pleasure P I will focus on three essays by Sigmund Freud: On Narcissism, The Uncanny, and Beyond the Pleasure Principle. By examining these three essays, the influence of Freud s theories can be determined. These essays will determine what Freud offers literary critics today and how they use his theories in their work. Many of Freud s theories overlap; his theories of the unconscious are explored in Beyond the Pleasure Principle and The Uncanny. In studying Freud s theories, and applying them to literature and literary criticisms, the progression of psychology and the understanding of humanity will become clear. Psychological theory studies the human mind. In relation to literature, psychological theory studies the characters. What are their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Psychology has always had a deep impact on literature, so much that authors must use this theory to delve into their characters motivations and actions. It is evident through the three Freud essays discussed that topics and ideas seem to overlap. This is the nature of studying psychology; concepts and ideas are connected to create a network that can be studied applied to not only the human mind, but to the mind of an author or their fictional characters. In applying Sigmund Freud s ideas to literature, critics can examine characters as if they were real. In our world, these characters are not real. In the context of a work of fiction, for example, the characters are real. The confines of a novel is the space in which they are alive. Examining characters as if they too have an unconscious that compels them to unexplained actions allows critics, and readers of critics, to occupy that character s headspace and become that character for a ... • 3. Ethical Issues In Ethics Ethics The field of ethics (or moral philosophy) involves systematizing, defending, and recommending concepts of right and wrong behavior. Philosophers today usually divide ethical theories into three general subject areas: metaethics, normative ethics, and applied ethics. Metaethics investigates where our ethical principles come from, and what they mean. Are they merely social inventions? Do they involve more than expressions of our individual emotions? Metaethical answers to these questions focus on the issues of universal truths, the will of God, the role of reason in ethical judgments, and the meaning of ethical terms themselves. Normative ethics takes on a more practical task, which is to arrive at moral standards that regulate right ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to many feminist philosophers, traditional morality is male centered since it is modeled after practices that have been traditionally male dominated, such as acquiring property, engaging in business contracts, and governing societies. The rigid systems of rules required for trade and government were then taken as models for the creation of equally rigid systems of moral rules, such as lists of rights and duties. Women, by contrast, have traditionally had a nurturing role by raising children and overseeing domestic life. These tasks require less rule following, and more spontaneous and creative action. Using the woman s experience as a model for moral theory, then, the basis of morality would be spontaneously caring for others as would be appropriate in each unique circumstance. On this model, the agent becomes part of the situation and acts caringly within that context. This stands in contrast with male modeled morality where the agent is a mechanical actor who performs his required duty, but can remain distanced from and unaffected by the situation. A care based approach to morality, as it is sometimes called, is offered by feminist ethicists as either a replacement for or a supplement to traditional male modeled moral ... • 4. The Nature Of The Mountain Men The mountain men were known for their explorations and fur trapping in the Rocky Mountains and the great plains from about 1810 to 1880. Outside of their explorations and trapping, the Mountain Men also created Emigrant Trails which allowed Americans of the East to settle in the West. To some they [mountain men] symbolized the rugged freedom of the frontier, to others, anarchy and degradation. The debate surrounding mountain men was, at its core, really a debate about the nature of the West: was the frontier the site of healthy independence or dangerous dissolution? Through the rising and crashing of the trappers rendezvous in the 1840 s and the scarce enemies that the mountain men had, Christopher Kit Carson, Jim Bridger, and James Jim Beckwourth continued to lead the explorations and trappings in the Rocky Mountains making clear that those men were there promoting healthy independence across the frontier during the 1840 s. For starters, the Mountain Men sold their fur and created the Rocky Mountain Rendezvous in order to make profit. Essentially, the rendezvous was a gathering that happened each year in various locations where trappers were able to sell their fur and hides as well as replenish their supplies(Sage). These events were known to be lively places that welcomed all (Barkin). The ones that typically showed were free trappers, Indians, native trappers wives, children, and even travelers that had been passing through(Barkin). James Jim Beckwourth, a ... • 5. Mitchell s Motivation Theory Motivation Introduction Mitchell (1982, p.82) describes motivation as the degree to which an individual wants and chooses to engage in certain specified behaviours . Hence, in general, behaviour is determined by certain motives, thus, Vroom and Deci (1992, p.33) considered motivation as the causes of our behaviour . Moreover, according to Mullins (2013, p.245) motivation is concerned with question why do people do what they do? , because motivation is an inner driving force which leads to particular action to achieve some aim and fulfil some need. In other words, Chartered Management Institute (cited in Mullins, 2013, p.246) observes that, the aim of management is to give people what they really want most from work . Motivation is a complex subject and traditionally has been cast as an individual phenomenon, because, the uniqueness of each individual is a reflection of different needs, values, attitudes and goals. In that case, Mitchell (1982, p.81) assumes that all of the main motivational theories allow in one way or another for uniqueness to be demonstrated. Furthermore, different theories of motivation purpose different reasons but almost all of them emphasise an individual and intentional choice of behaviour analysis. As a consequence, Handy (1999, p.29) stresses that if individual behaviour could be analysed and understood, then the individual motives could be predicted and could be influenced. However, no certain formula exists. On the other hand, even the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Life In A Tide Pool Research Paper Ocean water is always moving, and gravity from the sun and the moon pulling on the waters of the ocean causes what s called tides. Each day there are two high tides, when the water moves higher onto the beach, and two low tides, when the water moves further away from the beach back out toward the main body of water. A tidepool is a pool of water left behind by the ocean tides. Oysters, seabirds, blue crabs, and cordgrass can all live in a tidepool. Let s explore the tidepool habitat. When high tides come up onto the beach, the water brings animals and plants with it. Tide pools are formed when low tide takes the water back out toward the sea, and some water gets trapped and left behind. Things like rocks and low spots, like shallow holes, can keep the water from leaving the beach area. Plants and animals can make a tidepool their home, or habitat. A habitat is the environment in which plants and animals live. Plants and animals in a tidepool habitat live in an aquatic habitat, or water environment. Life in a tide pool is not easy. Although high tide brings into the tide pool more fresh seawater, animals, and plants, the waves are very powerful. Also, once low tide happens again, the tide pool begins ... Hitler s Abolishment of Relationships In 1939 September 1st, a man with ambition set out to achieve his goal, the total control over the European continent, which many of the previous rulers had failed to accomplish. Adolf Hitler, the man with such ambition, committed the worst genocide ever known to humankind with the support of his fellow Nazi party of Germany. This forced six million Jews to work in concentration camps. They were constantly humiliated, tortured, and murdered by various inhumane methods. Such actions eventually succeeded in wiping out one third of the Jewish population in Europe. The book The concentration camps not only physically and psychologically damaged the people, it tore apart many different relationships that were initially solid, resulting in the loss of faith in humanity. During their enslavement at the concentration camps, the Jewish fundamental belief of benevolence and preeminence are shredded to pieces. This immune response can either be humoral or cell mediated. Antigens, or immunogens, can include proteins which are the most potent and polysaccharides whereas lipids and nucleic acids often do not serve as antigens unless they conjugate with either a protein or polysaccharide. Proteins and polysaccharides are often used as immunogens to study experimental humoral immune response and proteins are often used to study cell mediated immunity. Specific properties and nature of an immunogen determines its immunogenicity. According to the sixth edition of the textbook Immunology by Kuby, Immunogenicity is determined in part by four properties of the immunogen: its foreignness, molecular size, chemical composition and complexity, and ability to be processed and presented with an MHC molecule on the surface of an antigen presenting cell or altered self cell. The first property, foreignness, is further explained by the principle that the body has to determine self from non self, making certain molecules foreign allowing for an immune response. The degree of immunogenicity of an antigen when introduced to an organism depends on its degree of foreignness. The authors of the textbook compare antigenicity to help comprehend this concept. They claim that the greater the phylogenetic distance between species, the greater the structural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The aortic valve is a gate like structure that is located between the lower left chamber of the heart (left ventricle) and the blood vessel that leads away from the heart (aorta). The aortic valve opens when the left ventricle squeezes to pump blood into the aorta, and it closes when the left ventricle relaxes. In aortic insufficiency, blood in the aorta leaks through the aortic valve after it has closed. • 37. The Worst Day Of The World The worst day in the world started just like any other morning, it was the first morning of the school holidays and Mum had cooked us a breakfast feast fit for the Queen. There were three kinds of eggs, poached, scrambled and fried, with a side of bacon and mushrooms, hash browns and toast, plus pancakes and orange juice. Dad was digging into his serving when he looked up excitedly and said, Guess what? I ve got a live interview with the one and only, Oprah Winfrey! She s coming all the way from America and her first stop in Australia is here in Sydney, at our national news broadcaster, Sunshine! That s amazing, Thomas! said Mum, Well, Rebecca is going to my work today and see how Mum does her important job. I just rolled my eyes because we both knew that Mum couldn t leave me at home and I couldn t go with the others, so Mum was pretty much forced to take me to her work. Actually, I had to remind Mum that I was going to be alone at home today because she forgot about me! This breakfast is surely going to boost my confidence for my drama exam, today, said Samantha, my 16 year old sister, enthusiastically. Thanks, said Mum, Who tells the best chicken jokes? Comedi hens! I should ve warned you before, Mum tries to tell funny jokes, because her boss said to loosen up . My mum is an agent for a real estate company. • 38. Active Learning Is The Best Option Of Learning Active learning is productive, enhances opportunities and is supported or directed by technology. However, that is not to say that active learning is the best option of learning for all. To determine how well students learn while not physically in a classroom we need to evaluate how well learning takes place in on line classroom environments. Skorton (2013) documented that an online course has the potential to transform higher educations with substantial benefits for students, their eventual employers, and participating communities. Therefore, evaluation of learning environments indicates a real measure of the effectiveness of what is learned. Experiments have shown the way that it is beneficial to a person s daily activities or student however; from experiences, there should be a means to demonstrate what is learned. Did learning take place, at least to meet defined objectives from a class or other learning environments? To me learning via collaborative, instructional, and with a team of mixed backgrounds can promote a higher degree (Jones 1995). My initial thoughts on this subject were that active learning seems to be a bit more difficult in an online course that it would be sitting in an actual classroom with the personal and physical interactions of others. That is unless there are sessions providing interactive, near real time or live online classes. Learning in a classroom or while sitting at home on the couch accessing classrooms through online resources is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Characteristics Of Kang-Hsi In Emperor Of Chini The difference between being on the winning side and being on the losing side is the leader you will have. Think of it like a sports team. You can have all the star players you want, but if you do not have the right coach to lead the team, then they will not be successful. In Emperor of China: Self Portrait of Kang Hsi by Jonathan D. Spence, Spence compiles the Emperor s own writings to give readers an inside like of what the Kang Hsi did while he was the Emperor of China and the techniques he used in his life to lead China. The traits used by the Emperor of China, Kang Hsi, allowed him to successfully rule China during his lifetime and improve the livelihoods of those living there. In Emperor of China, Kang Hsi s writings list many traits that made him a successful ruler of China. There are so many traits he listed that we could be here forever, so I will whittle it down to what I think are the top three traits that made Kang Hsi a good leader. The first one is to look for the good in people. Kang Hsi himself said this, when he wrote, It s a good principle to look for the good points in a person and to ignore the bad. If you are always suspicious of people, they will suspect you too. (Spence 34). Kang Hsi believes it is necessary to be trustful of those you meet. He also believes that you should treat others the way you want to be treated. If you treat someone with suspicion, then that person would probably treat you the same way. • 44. Symbolism In The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz In 1900, L. Frank Baum authored the famed The Wonderful Wizard of Oz book. This was followed by being produced as a Broadway musical in 1902, and the motion picture release in 1939 (Zwissler, 2014). The popularity of this story is nearly unfathomable. According to the Library of Congress (1992), The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is the most watched film in motion picture history (in Zwissler, 2014). Scalise Sugiyama and Sugiyama (2011) suggest that stories such as these originated as oral warnings and eventually became literary warnings, followed by sharing similar warnings in a film. At first it seemed straight forward and easy, but as I began thinking about the the Film School movement and how the great directors used their film history knowledge to format something new, I realized that great attention to detail, editing, and music choice, all influence the final film product. My Music Redub marries the ending scene of Tommy Boy with Tommy in the sailboat saying goodbye to his father with the theme music to Jaws. The twist of having the heavy Jaws theme paired with the lighthearted Tommy talking to his father changes the whole feel of the scene. I chose to feature a clip from the B movie and cult classic Tommy Boy in my Music Redub.
