Analysis of Politics in The Republic of Turkey
The book follows the author s preceding work on the two Ankara parliaments during the War of
Independence and studies the parliaments of the Republic of Turkey from 1923 to 1946, roughly the
time known as the single party period when the political power was monopolized by the Republican
People s Party (CHP Cumhuriyet Halk Fırkası/Partisi). In his former research Demirel had given a
large place to political disputes in the Turkish parliament by highlighting the actions of the fraction
opposed to the group under the guidance of Mustafa Kemal (Atatürk). The scope of his research has
changed, since the parliaments he deals with were composed nearly exclusively by deputies of the
single party, giving way to what Mete Tunçay has called an unanimous democracy (24). Nevertheless,
the book is part of a historiographical current that challenges the discourse the kemalist regime has
had on its proper history and insists on political contradictions in the formative processes of the early
Republic. In his analysis, the author draws mostly upon the official parliamentary publication, with
some references to the press and to memoirs by leading politicians. He meticulously scrutinizes the
composition of the six parliaments from 1923 to 1946 and presents valuable empirical data on the
deputies, like age, geographical origin, education, profession, or seniority in parliament. Demirel
processes the empirical data by analyzing the transition between two parliaments, and highlighting the

Physician Assisted Suicide
Emily Larson
English 102
Dr. Dietrich
Long Research Paper
Assisted Suicide In the medical field there are massive amounts of treatments for various diseases.
Some treatments are going to help the patient feel more comfortable; however, some are going to
counteract the problem, and others are going to help kill the patient. Physician assisted suicide is
defined by medterms.com as the voluntary termination of one s own life by administration of a lethal
substance with the direct or indirect assistance of a physician. Any person wishing to undergo assisted
suicide in Oregon must be at least 18 years of age and have a terminal illness. This illness must be
within its final stages and leave the patient with less than six months to live. ... Show more content on

Ultimately physician assisted suicide goes against moral and ethical judgment that is placed within the
hands of a practicing physician. Moral behavior of a murderer is considered lacking in many cases,
but how are physicians who administer a lethal dosage of drugs any different? There are many
physicians who are participating in assisted suicide, but they all have lives within their hands. They
are responsible for the lives they have been entrusted with. In Norway any physician that helped with
assisted suicide was charged with accessory to murder. In the United States there are many laws
regarding murder, but accessory to murder is also a charge. A person who is considered an accessory
to murder is not typically present at the scene of the crime, but contributes to the success of the crime
before or after the fact. This statement creates a controversial wave within the country. Those
physicians who are prescribing deadly doses of medication are knowingly providing a means to kill
someone. Even though the physician does not administer the drugs themselves, the patient is still
being killed because of the physician s prescription. The immorality of prescribing lethal drugs may
be heavily felt by the prescribing physician after administration. Many physicians are affected by the

George Bernard Shaw Character Analysis
1. What does Esslin mean when he states that poetry is static ? Esslin states that poetry is static
because it conveys a central idea, atmosphere, or mode of being which is essentially static. When
Esslin states that poetry is static he means that it doesn t tell a story like narrative rather poetry is all
concerned to convey a central idea, mode of being or an atmosphere which is what he thinks makes
poetry static. Narrative proceeds in a manner that must lead to a final message or end result and moves
along a definitive line, where poetry is there to convey a central idea. This is why Esslin states that
poetry is essentially static. 2. Who was George Bernard Shaw? George Bernard Shaw was born on the
26th of July 1856 in Dublin and died on the 2nd of November 1950. Shaw was an Irish comic
dramatist, socialist propagandist, literacy critic and the winner of the Literature Nobel Prize in 1925.
He made a living as a music and theatre critic. Shaw was a play writer and was highly recognised for
his talents in this field. What are we told about the structure of his plays in this excerpt? In this excerpt
were are told many things about the structure of Shaw s plays. Esslin talks about Shaw s plays being
structured with a system of values. Esslin talks about Shaw s plays having an implicit belief in the
goodness and perfectibility of a man and that his plays may be religious or political in their structure
due to the world wide view behind the well made play. Esslin also

United Airlines Research Paper
United Airlines is the second of the world s largest, and strongest, airlines. From humble beginnings as
a small air mail providers flying Contract Air Mail (CAM) route 5 from Elko, Nevada to Pasco,
Washington rail road center, to an airline today that is a premier member and cofounder of the Star
Alliance, with numerous other airlines that span the globe, United has had a long and colorful past.
In 1926, then Varney Air Lines founded by Walter Varney, flew a short mail route under the recently
established Kelley Act, using the post office to furnish funding and routes to provide airmail service.
Varney began purchasing other small airmail carriers within the United States, Pacific Air Transport
(CAM 8) that flew from Los Angeles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Under Post Master Walter Folger Brown, a plan was devised to eliminate reckless competition
(Wensveen, p 49), and since United supported the postmasters plan, was awarded the northern of three
main airmail routes within the country.
The 1930 s also saw something unique that still shapes airlines today. Ellen Church of San Francisco
and a registered nurse, became the first airline stewardess in the history of the airlines. Partly to help
the public feel safe about flying, a woman was chosen who also was a nurse to help passengers in
flight and was approved by Pat Patterson, future United Air Lines President (flatrock.org.nz). Miss
Church, along with Steve Simpson, a Boeing ticket office manager, wrote the first manual for flight
attendants.
The airline we see today was solidified with the Airmail Act of 1934. Signed by President Roosevelt,
the airmail act regulated equipment needed for specific routes, and eliminated a lot of smaller regional
airlines/air transport companies from operations. Also, it barred airlines and aircraft manufacturers
from being a single corporation. Up until this time, the major airlines all were part of larger
corporations with different manufacturers and other parts suppliers. Now, Boeing and United had to go
their separate

Social Class in Great Expectations
In Great Expectations, Pip changed his social class immensely. Pip did not understand how a poor
family could be happy. Pip thought that social class was everything in life. He also thought that money
was very important. In reality, it turns out that money and social rank do not matter in life. What really
matters is being connected and having relationships with family and friends. Pip finds that out the hard
way. In Great Expectations, Pip is exposed to many different social classes, he acts very differently, he
finds out how lonely he becomes, and how family and friends mean everything in life. Early in life,
Pip grew up in a poor and kind of lower class family. As a young child, Pip did not understand how

was so humiliated, hurt, spurned, offended, angry, sorry..., (Dickens 64). Pip is disconcerted and
depressed when Estella does that to him in the beginning of the novel. Pip basically does the same
thing to Joe. Not with pleasure, though I was bound to him by so many ties; no; with considerable
disturbance, some mortification, and a keen sense of incongruity. If I could have kept him away by
paying money, I certainly would have paid money, (Dickens 229). Joe is disrespected and he is
mortified by the way Pip treats him. Pip becomes very forlorn while he is in London. Once he is in
London, he does not have many friends like he did before. This really changes the way he thinks in
life. Money changes people and it certainly has a consequence on Pip as it is shown in the novel.
Social class does not really shape Pip into a reputable young man. That is so because he thinks that he
is too good for Joe and Biddy. Not the entire London trip is appalling. Pip learns some really good
skills in London. He learns how to be a gentleman and he learns correct table manners. It is considered
that you must be better educated, in accordance with your altered position, and that you will be alive
to the importance and necessity of at once entering on that advantage, (Dickens 186). London, Mr.

Global Expansion And The Conquest Of The Aztec Empire
Global expansion has been a large topic covered by historians for hundreds of years. The development
of independent countries establishing trade, business, and military powers had led to the development
and advancement of all the continents. The purpose of exploration, conquest and governmental power
are common themes that are shared among the powers of 16th century Europe. With unexplored land
and unknown inhabitants, the desire and race for expansion were a primary purpose of European
nations. Inhabitants of these new lands had established cultures, religions, and social lives. Little
documentation is to be found on native people of the North American continent, the majority had no
written language or were completely illiterate. Any written records kept were kept in the writings of
the victors. Understanding expansionism and conquest can be told differently by many different
scholars. Their evaluations can be one sided as there is no other story upon documentation that can be
evaluated. Hernándo Cortes and the Conquest of the Aztec Empire was to be evaluated as the ruthless,
war monger who sought power and control and treasure in the name of the King of Spain. Cortés
would invade a new piece of land inhabited by cultures of Indians to seize fame and fortune. His
military efforts along with the help of other native tribal allies destroyed an Empire of the largest
capacity. Reasoning and purpose for the invasion can only be told as a conquistador laying claim on

The Is The Method Of Human Communication
Should infants really spend their childhood time watching useless junk that wouldn t benefit them for
later on in their life? Yes they re children and it wouldn t matter as much in that moment, but still it s
not beneficial and it won t help them. They could spend their time doing something more helpful that
could actually help them later in life like interacting with another kid or talking to their parents.
As defined by Webster s Dictionary, television is a system for transmitting visual images and sound
that are reproduced on screens, and used to broadcast programs for entertainment, information, and
education. Television has been around since 1927, and is viewed by everybody around the world,
including children. It is one of the main ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But on the other hand if you were to let your child interact with another kid instead of letting them sit
and watch TV they are more likely to be better off in life. For example, if you leave your child sitting
in front of the TV watching Teletubbies they are less likely to be on the same level other kids are on
because they don t just sit there and watch TV all day. The more time infants spend sitting in front of
the TV, the harder it will be for them to learn how to communicate. With that being said TV is only a
medium for transmitting data, nothing more nothing less.
It s important to teach kids during the childhood phase how to be social and to learn social skills and
how to talk and interact with one another all the things a child can t learn/do if all they do is sit in front
of a TV all day. If a child is not raised to know how to socialize with other people, where do you think
they re going to end up? A child needs to know how to talk to other human beings, not just to Dora on
the TV. Research has shown that kids that watch a lot of television growing up tend to have a hard
time paying attention in class or just staying concentrated. A child is more likely to watch cartoons as
soon as they get home and lie about not getting homework instead of actually doing it. Don t
misunderstand, watching TV is a really helpful tool if used right. It s a known fact that children spend

Ben looked out of the vehicle s window. He was the alpha tester of the Newton, a machine that would
,hopefully, take them to the 1940s. His friend, Mr. Pach, the inventor of the vehicle, and Ben worked
for the III, International Innovation Incorporated. The project had been sponsored so the creation of

Pach, a famous, slightly crazy, scientist. Hopefully, this would be Mr. Pach s 8th Nobel Prize, as he
was currently tied for the most Nobel Prizes ever. They had packed all the supplies needed, instant
food, a Mr. Pach invention, a pair of guns, surveillance equipment, and Pach force shields. Currently,
they were driving up a tall mountain to be able to go back into time. Mr. Pach had stated something
about maximum velocity and other mathematical terms that Ben did not understand. The only part that
Ben could mentally comprehend was the vehicle had to reach 42 miles per hour, and had to face wind
that blew at least 120 miles per hour, or the car would explode. However though, with Mr. Pach s
quirky nature, the odds of a completely ordinary trip were next to zero. As the spherical car rolled to
the acme of the mountain, Ben began to imagine creative ways for them to have a gale that blew at
120 MPH. Mr. Pach slowly drove the sphere over the peak, expectantly, Ben waited for rockets to
shoot out and see the world soar by. Instead, Ben suddenly felt his stomach lurch. It felt like

A Study of Iron Essay
Iron is an important element to the scientific community, especially those involved in the branch of
chemistry. Consequently, humans rely on iron for many different things. Iron is diverse from all other
elements with regards to its natural occurrence, historic and contemporary uses, the origin of its name,
and when, how, where, and by whom it was discovered. It also has unique characteristic physical and
chemical properties. Without the discovery, and distinctive properties of iron, life on Earth would
never be the same as it is now. Iron occurs naturally throughout the universe in abundance. It is found
in places such as stars, including the sun, and is distinguishable in soil and dissolved in groundwater
and the ocean in small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Iron began being widely used across Central Europe during the 8th century, and across Northern
Europe during the 6th century, and the Near Eastern Iron Age took place in two phases during the 12th
and 13th century. Asia began using iron at the same time as Europe, and China used iron long before
the Common Era. In North and South America, the development of iron began right after the rock age,
skipping the Bronze Age. During the early Iron Age, iron was used to make tools when combined with
0.3% to 1.2% by weight of carbon to form the alloy steel. Iron was used to make houses, tools such as
swords, daggers, chisels, and knives, and jewellery, among others. Iron can be used for a wide range
of resources in the contemporary world. It is the most abundant, least expensive, and most used of all
metals. It is vital to human and animal life, and humans use it in a variety of devices to make life
convenient. It is combined with other elements to make steel or other compounds for many
commercial uses, the most common of which include making fuels, lubricants, automobiles, machine
tools, hulls of large ships, building parts, machine parts, cooking pots and pans, cutlery, surgical
equipment, and aircraft. Iron (III) is used in the treatment of sewage, as a dye for cloth, as a coloring

ways, the healthcare service providers have been considering to implement the technology in their
institutions since the system has been commercially available in the market place since 2006 (Ford,
McAlenrney, Phillips, Menachemi, and Rudolph, 2008). Although a good number of institutions have
been analyzing the possibility of adopting the system, until recently, it was estimated that only 5% of
U.S. hospitals had the system in operation (American Hospital Association Archive). Another study, a
2003 report from First Consulting Group for the American Hospital Association and the Federation of
American Hospitals, says that an estimated 5% of American hospitals used CPOE in 2002. Moreover,
a report found that the amount of U.S. hospitals with completely available CPOE system was
estimated only 9.6% in 2002 [Ash et al, 2004]. Another report from the Leapfrog Group titled

would have completed CPOE implementation by the end of 2006 [Ash et al, 2004]. Add a transition

U.S. hospitals were using the system (Anderson, 2009) 120. Not only the implementation rate but also
the usage rate of the system is very slow in recent time. In support of this statement, it was reported

Regulating Animals In Medical Research
Laws regulating animal use in medical research were introduced in England and in Germany in the
19th century, but not until the 1960 s were laws instituted in most countries, including the United
States (Cartmill, 1993). Despite the outstanding number of animals killed each year, most countries
have yet to better increase their insufficient policies protecting animals. Most countries have grossly
inadequate regulatory measures in place to protect animals from suffering and distress or to prevent
them from being used when a non animal approach is readily available ( Animal Experiments, para.
11). The Animal Welfare Act was passed in 1966, which sought to protect animals from being wrongly
used in medical research. However, the Animal Welfare Act provides only protection for a select
group of species, excluding animals ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, many don t realize the torture that these animals must experience as test subjects that
supposedly further human welfare. Discovering medical advancements should not be done at the
expense of an animals life. Humans place the value of their lives over the values of animals , because
they believe that the animals are simply test subjects and that they don t have any rights. In reality,
animals do have rights and animal testing is in direct violation of those rights. Humans and animals
are very similar, both having the ability to feel, think and desire. Humans can t simply justify with the
fact that killing animals is the solution to curing cancer. In actuality, it is extremely difficult to
correctly compare information received in animal research to humans because of their biological
differences. One of the main problems of concern is that the public are the ones who fund these
experiments, through money from their taxes and even money from charitable donations. Medical
research on animals needs to stop, humans and animals are

A Brief Note On The Aviation Safety Agency
With ICAO s leading, aviation safety has been developed internationally. As mentioned before, FAA
and ICAO worked together to provide safer operations in the airports globally. ICAO published their
Safety Management Manual(SMM) for providing acceptable safety performance throughout the
world. Civil aviation authorities get benefit out of these manuals and shared data. SMS requirements
provided by ICAO paved a path for every aviation organization to develop safety policies and safety
procedures. In February 2009 European Aviation Safety Agency(EASA) met with FAA, ICAO and
Transport Canada Civil Aviation(TCCA). The meeting was set to spread SMS throughout Europe and
America. Participants agreed on sharing SMS knowledge and established Safety Management
International Collaboration Group(SM ICG). SM ICG was set to meet semiannually and also with
teleconferences to develop SMS with projects and research groups. Each organization works
voluntarily for collaboration and affiliation to spread SMS knowledge all over the world. During
establishment of SM ICG, it is agreed that there would be interference with stakeholders in the
aviation industry. It is also agreed that CAST and ECAST which is European Commercial Aviation
Safety Team would work collaboratively for more reliable data sharing. The current core membership
of the SM ICG includes the Aviation Safety and Security Agency (AESA) of Spain, the National Civil

Tungsten And Titanium Comparison
Tungsten carbide, which is often just called tungsten, and titanium are the most popular materials for
contemporary rings. While some people believe there aren t many differences between the two metals,
there are some definite differences to consider when making your choice between tungsten and
titanium. After reading this list, you ll be able to see that it comes down to the person s lifestyle when
trying to make a choice between tungsten and titanium.
Hardness Levels Between the Two Metals
When it comes to the Mohs Scale of Hardness, the very hardest material known to man is diamond,
which most people know. What they might not know is that tungsten comes in second on that list.

Any resizing will result in the ring breaking. With the inexpensive costs of the metals, though, the
rings can easily be replaced if they need to be resized. There are also some manufacturers that allow
customers to return a ring for a different size without charge.
The Colors of Titanium and Tungsten
The metals are available in a variety of colors. They re naturally darkish gray, but they re seen
commonly in black as well. Tungsten has the option of being a white that gives a more classic white
gold or platinum look to the jewelry. Titanium can be created in a variety of colors. It goes through a
heating or oxidation process that can produce blue, purple or black. The color in a titanium ring doesn
t penetrate completely and can be scratched off the ring itself.
Are the Metals Hypoallergenic
When it comes to titanium rings, people who are prone to allergic reactions to metals will not have a
problem. The same can t be said for tungsten rings, which have elements in them that will cause skin
allergies. The allergy is often caused by cobalt, so if a piece of jewelry says that it s specifically not
made with cobalt, the person might not have an issue. It depends on the alloy

never be like his parents, who are immortal. It s a constant struggle to be like them or be better than
they are but never quite being able to reach it. It s a losing battle no matter what you do. However,
Gilgamesh does have strengths, he is physically gifted, and he has God like strength and can use this
to his advantage. Gilgamesh s main strength is his partner Enkidu. Perceval has his own set of
strengths and weaknesses that contrast those in Gilgamesh. Perceval is very loyal to his mother, he is a

William Blake The Lamb Meaning
William Blake s The Lamb is a part of the Songs of Innocence (1789) and was later accompanied by a
larger work, the Songs of Experience (1794). Blake expressed what he believed, and he wanted to
prove his true understanding of Christianity. His audience for his poem understood Christianity and
were familiar with the Bible. The poem establishes the theme of the vulnerability of innocence and a
vision of the speaker. The child s view is limited on account of unawareness of the total reality of
human knowledge. The voice of the poem is formed from a speaker that seems to be an innocent child,
communicating with a lamb who is unable to answer or respond to the child. The rhyme scheme is
similar to that of Dr. Seuss, it is like a nursery rhyme, and also a riddle. This is one of William s
simpler poems, but with a closer analysis it reveals hidden symbols, meaning, tones, and wordplay.
William Blake writes The Songs of Innocence, so this poem is obviously going to relate to some kind
of innocence. It is revealed in the second stanza when the speaker addresses the lamb as if it knows
who made it, and who gave it all of its features. However, the lamb or child does not answer, but of
course it would not answer. This then causes the speaker to answer his own questions. Which proves
that the lamb is too innocent to answer for itself. Dost thou know who made thee? /Little Lamb I ll tell
thee (10 11). This displays the wordplay in the poem because the reader asks questions and then

Cannibalism Essay examples
There are so many bad things in the world but according to many, cannibalism is considered just about
the worst. Depending on your point of view, it rises above even such criminal abominations as, rape
and genocide. Then again, we live in a culture, in which people would run vomiting to the bathroom if
they saw what went into making their McDonald s hamburgers.
Cannibalism, also known as anthropophagi, is defined as the act or practice of eating members of the
same species. The word anthropophagi comes from the Arawakan language name for the Carib
Indians of the West Indies. The Caribs are well known for their practice of cannibalism. Among
humans, this practice has been attributed to people in the past all over the world, including ... Show

Among humans, cannibalism has been widespread in prehistoric societies on all continents. It is still
believed to be practiced in remote areas of the island of New Guinea. It existed until recently in parts
of West and Central Africa, Sumatra, Melanesia, and Polynesia. It also existed among various Indian
tribes of North and South America and among aborigines of Australia and the Maoris of New Zealand.
The reasons for cannibalism have varied. Sometimes there was simply limited food. Some groups
liked the taste of human flesh. However, mostly the reasons had to do with revenge or punishment for
crimes, ceremony and ritual, or magic. Some victorious tribes ate their dead enemies to absorb their
strength. In come rituals, the deceased were eaten by relatives, as a manner of reverence or honor for
their ancestors, or as a desire for the soul of the dead to be reborn in the body of the consumer. This is
called endocannablism.
Civilized people have to resort to cannibalism from time to time, as a mean of survival, under
desperate circumstances. The story of the Donner Party is one of the more tragic incidents in
American frontier history. A group of about 90 immigrants led by George Donner was caught in a
blinding snowstorm in the Sierra Nevada range of California in October 1846. Survivors, who made

The impetus behind this research was the observation that patients are frequently left sitting on their

reducing properties of the wheelchair cushion, placing the patient at risk for PrU development. This
research aims to examine whether patient handling slings might contribute to pressure ulcer

describes the interface pressures developed during suspension from patient handling slings. The main

The Philippine Insurrection
The Philippine Insurrection of 1899 1902 was a little different than most insurgencies. Using Mao s 3
phases of an insurgency, which I will break down below.
The native demand for liberation from Spain had been building since the 1880s. In 1892 a poor
warehouseman by the name of Andres Bonifacio organized a group called the Katiunan, hoping to
drive the Spaniard s out of the Philippines. As in other insurgencies, we are seeing groups coming
together for the same objective, but not all insurgent groups get along. In 1896 after a reign of terror
against the islanders, Emilio Aguinaldo, a rival group leader, took over leadership by having Bonifacio
executed. The insurgency was forced into the hills, but the fighting continued. The people wanted
Spain out and supported an independent Philippines. In 1897 Spain paid Aguinaldo off to stop the
fighting and sent him to Hong Kong. This put the insurgency back into survival mode and brought a
temporary peace.
Aguinaldo made a pact with the United States which was at war with Spain at the time. With the
assistance of Commodore Dewey they were able to have a decisive victory over the Spanish in
Manila. June 12th then became Philippine Independence Day in 1898. The Americans seemed
reluctant to leave and in December Spain formally ceded the Philippines to the United States in the
Paris Peace Treaty. In January 1899 Aguinaldo staged an inauguration of the First Philippine Republic.
This was an uneasy peace, because what was

Consider How the Doctrine of Binding Precedent Operates in...
The doctrine of binding precedent, or stare decisis is the heart of the English Legal System. It refers to
the fact that within the hierarchical structure of the English courts, a decision of a higher court will be
binding on a lower court.
The House of Lords or the Supreme Court stands at the peak of the English court structure and its
decisions are binding on all lower courts. And it should always have to bear in mind, that, as the UK is
a member of the EC, and as the ECJ is the highest court, it is not bound by any higher court, the
decisions of the ECJ is binding on the House of Lords and all the lower courts. The ECJ is not bound
to follow its own previous decision. Also as a consequence of the HRA 1998 the decision of the

If a judge decides, for some reason that the facts in the case before him are so different from those of a
previous similar case, he is at liberty to ignore the precedent and treat the case differently. He can
decide the case as he thinks fit.
Scope for further uncertainty is introduced by the necessary distinction between ratio decidendi and
obiter dicta .Only the important part of judgment that are binding on future courts are the ratio
decidendi. Anything else, i.e. the statements of principles of law that are not relevant to the decision
are obiter dicta. Difficulty arises from the fact that judges do not label their judgments in this way.
They do not actually separate and highlight the ratio of the case and their judgments may be of great
length, or there may be many judges delivering individual judgments on the same case. So it is very
difficult to determine the particular ratio of any case. The problem of binding precedent is that it is
open to later judges to avoid precedents by declaring them to be no more than obiter statements.
There are numerous advantages and disadvantages of the doctrine of stare decisis. Amongst these are
the following:
Advantages:
(a) It is a time saving device, as for most situations there is an existing solution.
(b) It creates certainty in the law and allows lawyers to advice clients on the probable outcome of a
case.
(c) It provides an

Benefits And Benefits Of Social Security
In Bonnie Smith Yackel s essay My Mother Never Worked she passionately defends her mother after
Social Security refuses to grant her death benefit check. Yackel does not realize that Social Security
fairly distributes benefits to contributing Americans. Social Security was reasonable to not granting
benefits to a woman who never contributed as a wage earner. Hence it would not be fair if benefits are
granted to a fraud who never paid wage taxes compared to wage earners who do. Americans who
abuse Social Security benefits by committing fraud is unethical and not to mention illegal. Americans
that are in desperate need for Social Security benefits require it far more than frauds. By eliminating
fraud the government can properly grant social benefits to hard working Americans. Social Security
benefits should be permitted to Americans that work and provide back to their country or they are
disabled. Also, hard working citizens that pay their duties will receive back from benefits, including
employees that are qualified as disabled. Benefits should not be granted to any citizen that makes no
contribution to their country such as, tax deductions from their wages. Furthermore, Social Security
needs to reach out to the majority which is the poverty stricken. By informing the impecunious or

The choice to leave the EU has pushed the UK into uncharted trading territory. The main alternative

No Secret That Our Educational System Has Flaws
It s no secret that our educational system has flaws, and that policymakers are often deeply divided
over how to address those flaws. One of the more divisive issues in education today is the creation and
implementation of a national set of educational standards, particularly in the subjects of mathematics,
science and English. Some people believe that creating a national curriculum and applying it in all
schools across the nation will help to improve our educational system; others believe that the
argument over national standards is merely distracting from the real problems, and that a common set
of standards will not solve any of those issues. I am personally in favor of creating a nation wide
standard for education, although I acknowledge that the process of designing and carrying out these
changes will present numerous challenges for those to whom the job falls. Still, I believe that a
national curriculum would be a step in the right direction. As it stands, states across the country have
wildly differing criterion for what their students should be learning and when they should be learning
it. Two students, in the same grade, in different schools can be learning completely different things in
their classes. This creates problems for parents, students, and teachers in our schools on a number of
levels.

a few years later came the Spanish American war, which showed a vast improvement in the medical
field. During the Spanish American War many important inventions were created. These include the
invention of the x ray, the discovery of the germ theory, and the discovery of the antiseptic method.
Both of these discoveries made it much easier for Surgeons to operate on the wounded soldiers.
Another beneficial factor that made the Spanish American War more medically advanced then the civil
war was the service of female nurses. The Nurses provided a lot of help for the surgeons at times when
there was a lot of work, and assistance was needed. It is clear that the medicinal techniques used
during the Civil War were much less advanced than those used during the Spanish American War. The

My Co-Op Placement
At my co op placement, I have a few duties or a specific role that I had to fulfill during the time I
worked there. The particular role given to me was to be a bus girl , a term used for an individual that
has the duty of clearing the tables and also setting it up again. However, I was also in charge of the
cleaning aspect, organizing as well as re stocking. Whether it may be sugar, ketchup, salt, pepper,
toilet paper, tissue paper and more that we run out of. I am in charge of being aware of when a certain
item is running out and changing it as to where everything is good as new, and we are set for another
day of business. Washing the dishes is also an important duty as we run out of eating utensils so fast
on a busy day. When I have the time, I do roll ups. Often times, the server is busy dealing with other
customers. So, I took it upon myself to welcome the customers by greeting them good morning, sitting
them down according to the number of customers or their preferred seats if available, then take their
drink orders to get them started and settled down while they wait for the server to take their order.
Then, there are less important duties that I do when it is not so busy such as sanitize down areas, ...

To commence, a receptive mentality has to do with always being ready to learn about new things with
an open mind. When criticized about a certain action you ve done such as packing food wrong the
wrong way or using the wrong chemicals to wipe down areas that food came in contact with, it is
important to not take the comments personally. In the real world, you will be told that you are doing
things wrong multiple times and it takes a mature and positive mindset to take it as a learning
experience to become a better worker. With this mentality, it will become easier to adapt to any work

From the figure I know that the earthquake is farther from Berkley, CA than Seattle, WA. I do know
that the earthquake must be within the two intersecting circles.
9.6. At this point, from the information in Figure 9.6C, how specific can you now be as concerns the
location of that earthquake?
From this figure I know that the earthquake is located at the point where all three circles are
intersecting. It looks as if it is on the boarder of Montana and Colorado.
9.10. Using the nomogram, determine the Richter magnitude for the three earthquakes listed (see p.
169 in Geoscience Laboratory).
S arrival minus P arrival Amplitude Magnitude
(A) 8 seconds 20 millimeters 4
(B) 8 seconds 0.2 millimeters 2
(C) 6 seconds 10 millimeters 3.5
9.14. The 2002 Afghanistan earthquake measured 5.9 on the Richter scale and killed 1,800 people.
The 2001 western Washington earthquake measured 6.8 on the Richter scale and killed only one
person. Can you imagine why the huge difference in the numbers of deaths? Hint: It has to do with
construction materials.
In Afghanistan people were trapped in their homes, and objects were not properly tied down.
Buildings kill people not earthquakes. 9.17. Where is the location of that June 19 quake (to the nearest

  • 3. Analysis of Politics in The Republic of Turkey The book follows the author s preceding work on the two Ankara parliaments during the War of Independence and studies the parliaments of the Republic of Turkey from 1923 to 1946, roughly the time known as the single party period when the political power was monopolized by the Republican People s Party (CHP Cumhuriyet Halk Fırkası/Partisi). In his former research Demirel had given a large place to political disputes in the Turkish parliament by highlighting the actions of the fraction opposed to the group under the guidance of Mustafa Kemal (Atatürk). The scope of his research has changed, since the parliaments he deals with were composed nearly exclusively by deputies of the single party, giving way to what Mete Tunçay has called an unanimous democracy (24). Nevertheless, the book is part of a historiographical current that challenges the discourse the kemalist regime has had on its proper history and insists on political contradictions in the formative processes of the early Republic. In his analysis, the author draws mostly upon the official parliamentary publication, with some references to the press and to memoirs by leading politicians. He meticulously scrutinizes the composition of the six parliaments from 1923 to 1946 and presents valuable empirical data on the deputies, like age, geographical origin, education, profession, or seniority in parliament. Demirel processes the empirical data by analyzing the transition between two parliaments, and highlighting the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Physician Assisted Suicide Emily Larson English 102 Dr. Dietrich Long Research Paper Assisted Suicide In the medical field there are massive amounts of treatments for various diseases. Some treatments are going to help the patient feel more comfortable; however, some are going to counteract the problem, and others are going to help kill the patient. Physician assisted suicide is defined by medterms.com as the voluntary termination of one s own life by administration of a lethal substance with the direct or indirect assistance of a physician. Any person wishing to undergo assisted suicide in Oregon must be at least 18 years of age and have a terminal illness. This illness must be within its final stages and leave the patient with less than six months to live. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ultimately physician assisted suicide goes against moral and ethical judgment that is placed within the hands of a practicing physician. Moral behavior of a murderer is considered lacking in many cases, but how are physicians who administer a lethal dosage of drugs any different? There are many physicians who are participating in assisted suicide, but they all have lives within their hands. They are responsible for the lives they have been entrusted with. In Norway any physician that helped with assisted suicide was charged with accessory to murder. In the United States there are many laws regarding murder, but accessory to murder is also a charge. A person who is considered an accessory to murder is not typically present at the scene of the crime, but contributes to the success of the crime before or after the fact. This statement creates a controversial wave within the country. Those physicians who are prescribing deadly doses of medication are knowingly providing a means to kill someone. Even though the physician does not administer the drugs themselves, the patient is still being killed because of the physician s prescription. The immorality of prescribing lethal drugs may be heavily felt by the prescribing physician after administration. Many physicians are affected by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. George Bernard Shaw Character Analysis 1. What does Esslin mean when he states that poetry is static ? Esslin states that poetry is static because it conveys a central idea, atmosphere, or mode of being which is essentially static. When Esslin states that poetry is static he means that it doesn t tell a story like narrative rather poetry is all concerned to convey a central idea, mode of being or an atmosphere which is what he thinks makes poetry static. Narrative proceeds in a manner that must lead to a final message or end result and moves along a definitive line, where poetry is there to convey a central idea. This is why Esslin states that poetry is essentially static. 2. Who was George Bernard Shaw? George Bernard Shaw was born on the 26th of July 1856 in Dublin and died on the 2nd of November 1950. From humble beginnings as a small air mail providers flying Contract Air Mail (CAM) route 5 from Elko, Nevada to Pasco, Washington rail road center, to an airline today that is a premier member and cofounder of the Star Alliance, with numerous other airlines that span the globe, United has had a long and colorful past. In 1926, then Varney Air Lines founded by Walter Varney, flew a short mail route under the recently established Kelley Act, using the post office to furnish funding and routes to provide airmail service. Under Post Master Walter Folger Brown, a plan was devised to eliminate reckless competition (Wensveen, p 49), and since United supported the postmasters plan, was awarded the northern of three main airmail routes within the country. The 1930 s also saw something unique that still shapes airlines today. Ellen Church of San Francisco and a registered nurse, became the first airline stewardess in the history of the airlines. Partly to help the public feel safe about flying, a woman was chosen who also was a nurse to help passengers in flight and was approved by Pat Patterson, future United Air Lines President (flatrock.org.nz). Miss Church, along with Steve Simpson, a Boeing ticket office manager, wrote the first manual for flight attendants. The airline we see today was solidified with the Airmail Act of 1934. Signed by President Roosevelt, the airmail act regulated equipment needed for specific routes, and eliminated a lot of smaller regional airlines/air transport companies from operations. Also, it barred airlines and aircraft manufacturers from being a single corporation. Up until this time, the major airlines all were part of larger corporations with different manufacturers and other parts suppliers. Now, Boeing and United had to go their separate ... Pip thought that social class was everything in life. He also thought that money was very important. In reality, it turns out that money and social rank do not matter in life. What really matters is being connected and having relationships with family and friends. Pip finds that out the hard way. In Great Expectations, Pip is exposed to many different social classes, he acts very differently, he finds out how lonely he becomes, and how family and friends mean everything in life. • 11. Global Expansion And The Conquest Of The Aztec Empire Global expansion has been a large topic covered by historians for hundreds of years. The development of independent countries establishing trade, business, and military powers had led to the development and advancement of all the continents. The purpose of exploration, conquest and governmental power are common themes that are shared among the powers of 16th century Europe. With unexplored land and unknown inhabitants, the desire and race for expansion were a primary purpose of European nations. Inhabitants of these new lands had established cultures, religions, and social lives. Little documentation is to be found on native people of the North American continent, the majority had no written language or were completely illiterate. Any written records kept were kept in the writings of the victors. Understanding expansionism and conquest can be told differently by many different scholars. Their evaluations can be one sided as there is no other story upon documentation that can be evaluated. Hernándo Cortes and the Conquest of the Aztec Empire was to be evaluated as the ruthless, war monger who sought power and control and treasure in the name of the King of Spain. Cortés would invade a new piece of land inhabited by cultures of Indians to seize fame and fortune. His military efforts along with the help of other native tribal allies destroyed an Empire of the largest capacity. Yes they re children and it wouldn t matter as much in that moment, but still it s not beneficial and it won t help them. They could spend their time doing something more helpful that could actually help them later in life like interacting with another kid or talking to their parents. As defined by Webster s Dictionary, television is a system for transmitting visual images and sound that are reproduced on screens, and used to broadcast programs for entertainment, information, and education. But on the other hand if you were to let your child interact with another kid instead of letting them sit and watch TV they are more likely to be better off in life. For example, if you leave your child sitting in front of the TV watching Teletubbies they are less likely to be on the same level other kids are on because they don t just sit there and watch TV all day. The more time infants spend sitting in front of the TV, the harder it will be for them to learn how to communicate. With that being said TV is only a medium for transmitting data, nothing more nothing less. It s important to teach kids during the childhood phase how to be social and to learn social skills and how to talk and interact with one another all the things a child can t learn/do if all they do is sit in front of a TV all day. If a child is not raised to know how to socialize with other people, where do you think they re going to end up? A child needs to know how to talk to other human beings, not just to Dora on the TV. Research has shown that kids that watch a lot of television growing up tend to have a hard time paying attention in class or just staying concentrated. The only part that Ben could mentally comprehend was the vehicle had to reach 42 miles per hour, and had to face wind that blew at least 120 miles per hour, or the car would explode. However though, with Mr. Pach s quirky nature, the odds of a completely ordinary trip were next to zero. As the spherical car rolled to the acme of the mountain, Ben began to imagine creative ways for them to have a gale that blew at 120 MPH. Blake expressed what he believed, and he wanted to prove his true understanding of Christianity. His audience for his poem understood Christianity and were familiar with the Bible. The poem establishes the theme of the vulnerability of innocence and a vision of the speaker. The child s view is limited on account of unawareness of the total reality of human knowledge. The voice of the poem is formed from a speaker that seems to be an innocent child, communicating with a lamb who is unable to answer or respond to the child. The rhyme scheme is similar to that of Dr. Seuss, it is like a nursery rhyme, and also a riddle. This is one of William s simpler poems, but with a closer analysis it reveals hidden symbols, meaning, tones, and wordplay. William Blake writes The Songs of Innocence, so this poem is obviously going to relate to some kind of innocence. It is revealed in the second stanza when the speaker addresses the lamb as if it knows who made it, and who gave it all of its features. However, the lamb or child does not answer, but of course it would not answer. This then causes the speaker to answer his own questions. It existed until recently in parts of West and Central Africa, Sumatra, Melanesia, and Polynesia. It also existed among various Indian tribes of North and South America and among aborigines of Australia and the Maoris of New Zealand. The reasons for cannibalism have varied. Sometimes there was simply limited food. Some groups liked the taste of human flesh. However, mostly the reasons had to do with revenge or punishment for crimes, ceremony and ritual, or magic. Some victorious tribes ate their dead enemies to absorb their strength. In come rituals, the deceased were eaten by relatives, as a manner of reverence or honor for their ancestors, or as a desire for the soul of the dead to be reborn in the body of the consumer. The native demand for liberation from Spain had been building since the 1880s. In 1892 a poor warehouseman by the name of Andres Bonifacio organized a group called the Katiunan, hoping to drive the Spaniard s out of the Philippines. As in other insurgencies, we are seeing groups coming together for the same objective, but not all insurgent groups get along. In 1896 after a reign of terror against the islanders, Emilio Aguinaldo, a rival group leader, took over leadership by having Bonifacio executed. The insurgency was forced into the hills, but the fighting continued. The people wanted Spain out and supported an independent Philippines. In 1897 Spain paid Aguinaldo off to stop the fighting and sent him to Hong Kong. This put the insurgency back into survival mode and brought a temporary peace. Aguinaldo made a pact with the United States which was at war with Spain at the time. With the assistance of Commodore Dewey they were able to have a decisive victory over the Spanish in Manila. • 31. Consider How the Doctrine of Binding Precedent Operates in... The doctrine of binding precedent, or stare decisis is the heart of the English Legal System. It refers to the fact that within the hierarchical structure of the English courts, a decision of a higher court will be binding on a lower court. The House of Lords or the Supreme Court stands at the peak of the English court structure and its decisions are binding on all lower courts. And it should always have to bear in mind, that, as the UK is a member of the EC, and as the ECJ is the highest court, it is not bound by any higher court, the decisions of the ECJ is binding on the House of Lords and all the lower courts. The ECJ is not bound to follow its own previous decision. Also as a consequence of the HRA 1998 the decision of the ECtHR are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If a judge decides, for some reason that the facts in the case before him are so different from those of a previous similar case, he is at liberty to ignore the precedent and treat the case differently. He can decide the case as he thinks fit. Scope for further uncertainty is introduced by the necessary distinction between ratio decidendi and obiter dicta .Only the important part of judgment that are binding on future courts are the ratio decidendi. Anything else, i.e. the statements of principles of law that are not relevant to the decision are obiter dicta. Difficulty arises from the fact that judges do not label their judgments in this way. They do not actually separate and highlight the ratio of the case and their judgments may be of great length, or there may be many judges delivering individual judgments on the same case. So it is very difficult to determine the particular ratio of any case. The problem of binding precedent is that it is open to later judges to avoid precedents by declaring them to be no more than obiter statements. There are numerous advantages and disadvantages of the doctrine of stare decisis. Amongst these are the following: Advantages: (a) It is a time saving device, as for most situations there is an existing solution. (b) It creates certainty in the law and allows lawyers to advice clients on the probable outcome of a case. (c) It provides an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. Benefits And Benefits Of Social Security In Bonnie Smith Yackel s essay My Mother Never Worked she passionately defends her mother after Social Security refuses to grant her death benefit check. Yackel does not realize that Social Security fairly distributes benefits to contributing Americans. Social Security was reasonable to not granting benefits to a woman who never contributed as a wage earner. Hence it would not be fair if benefits are granted to a fraud who never paid wage taxes compared to wage earners who do. Americans who abuse Social Security benefits by committing fraud is unethical and not to mention illegal. Americans that are in desperate need for Social Security benefits require it far more than frauds. By eliminating fraud the government can properly grant social benefits to hard working Americans. Social Security benefits should be permitted to Americans that work and provide back to their country or they are disabled. Also, hard working citizens that pay their duties will receive back from benefits, including employees that are qualified as disabled. Benefits should not be granted to any citizen that makes no contribution to their country such as, tax deductions from their wages. Furthermore, Social Security needs to reach out to the majority which is the poverty stricken. • 40. No Secret That Our Educational System Has Flaws It s no secret that our educational system has flaws, and that policymakers are often deeply divided over how to address those flaws. One of the more divisive issues in education today is the creation and implementation of a national set of educational standards, particularly in the subjects of mathematics, science and English. Some people believe that creating a national curriculum and applying it in all schools across the nation will help to improve our educational system; others believe that the argument over national standards is merely distracting from the real problems, and that a common set of standards will not solve any of those issues. I am personally in favor of creating a nation wide standard for education, although I acknowledge that the process of designing and carrying out these changes will present numerous challenges for those to whom the job falls. Still, I believe that a national curriculum would be a step in the right direction. As it stands, states across the country have wildly differing criterion for what their students should be learning and when they should be learning it. Two students, in the same grade, in different schools can be learning completely different things in their classes. This creates problems for parents, students, and teachers in our schools on a number of levels. Firstly, the lack of a national curriculum makes things unnecessarily difficult for families that move around frequently, particularly military families. Children can ... The Civil war is considered a terrible time period for medical equipment as well as surgeons. Many soldiers who had been fighting in the Civil War were killed by sicknesses including diarrhea and pneumonia. Surgeons, who had minimum medical experience, were taking care of the wounded soldiers at the time. The idea of sanitizing and sterilizing equipment that was used on a patient beforehand was not known by the inexperienced surgeons. Only a few years later came the Spanish American war, which showed a vast improvement in the medical field. During the Spanish American War many important inventions were created. These include the invention of the x ray, the discovery of the germ theory, and the discovery of the antiseptic method. Another beneficial factor that made the Spanish American War more medically advanced then the civil war was the service of female nurses.
