The Complexity Of Identity Work Constructed By Manh Essay
Data analysis
This section provides an analysis of several aspects of identity work constructed by Manh, one of
the five teachers participated in my study. Through the analysis, it is interesting to observe the
complexity of Manh s identity construction. The identity work constructed by Manh encompasses
not only aspects of Manh being a friendly and approachable teacher, but also Manh s approach to
power and morality exercising in the classroom context. The analysis is divided into two main
parts. The first part exhibits examples of how Manh portraits himself as a funny, sensible and
approachable teacher. The second part presents examples where traces of power practice and
morality are under scrutiny. Class observation notes and interview data including are used as a
complementary sources for the analysis.
1.1.The dynamic process of identity construction
Drawing from the classroom data, there are examples where Manh s identity construction can be
associated to the identity of a funny, friendly and approachable teacher. This observation is drawn
from several teacher initiated humour examples found in the classroom discourse. The humor is
delivered through teacher s use of humorous questions, imaginary situation and metaphor that
provokes humor. These phenomena are found in extract 1.
Extract 1 is taken from one of Manh s lessons and the main topic is about friendship . According to
my observation from this particular stage of the lesson, Manh writes on the board one at a

Who Is Leon Trotsky In The Allegory Animal Farm
In 1879, Leon Trotsky was born in Lev Davidovich Brostein on November the seventh in Ukraine
(World Book, T). He played a big role in the Russian Revolution where the Bolsheviks rebelled in
1917. Trotsky was always in second to Lenin in the Soviet Communist Rule. However, in the end
he lost his leadership to Stalin. In the allegory Animal Farm, the author, George Orwell wrote Leon
Trotskyas the pig Snowball, a leader in the Animal Revolution. There are three important facts
about Trotsky that made George Orwell pick him as Snowball. The Russian Revolution, after war
and his relation with Snowball is why George Orwell chose Trotsky. First is the Russian
Revolution. Before the revolution, Trotsky became a member of the Menshevik Faction. Then he
came to Russiain 1917 after he escaped the St. Peter Soviet of 1903. He joined the revolution
despite Lenin s disagreements and Trotsky had a theory of a permanent revolution ( Leon Trotsky
). In the revolution, he at first was a foreign commissar. When he negotiated a peace treaty with
Germany, he went up to a war commissar and led the triumphant Red Army against the White Army
( Leon Trotsky ).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to stop the rebellion, the Bolsheviks were forced to sign a peace treaty: The Treaty of
Brest Litorskon. This treaty handed over Finland, Poland, the Baltic Provinces, Ukraine and
Transcasia to the Central Powers on March 3, 1918 ( Russian Revolution ). Once Lenin died,
Stalin came and took this opportunity to kick Trotsky out of Russia in 1927. Trotsky finally
settled in Mexico in 1936; however, it seems Stalin was not done. He sent an assassin named
RamГіn Mecadar to kill Trotsky with an ice pick on August 20, 1940. The next day Leon Trotsky

Private Economic System
The economic system adopted in the United States is the private enterprise system. This system,
supports private individuals that recognize and serve the needs and demands of consumers. The
private enterprise system lessens government interference in the economy. Consequently, businesses
that satisfy and adapt to consumers needs are the ones who profit and succeed. This competition
between businesses gets rid of businesses that are not able to produce the best product at the best
price. This type of system is also known as capitalism. In Adam Smith s The wealth of Nations it is
indicated that capitalism is threatened by privileges extended to certain members of the economy at
the expense of others. Thus, it is pertinent to have the rights to private property, profits, freedom of
choice, and competition for capitalism to function properly.... Show more content on

This right is essential in the trade of goods and services because it warrants consumers the
permission to purchase their demands. The right to profit is also important in capitalism because it
necessitates for people to abandon the security of working for someone else and assume the risks
of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is important because it brings new products and ideas to the
market. Also, Freedom of choice allows individuals to change jobs, negotiate wages, join labor
unions, and choose among many different brands of goods and services. By supplying different
choices, the private enterprise system increases citizens prosperity. Lastly, competition occurs when
two or more businesses vie for the same resources or customers and it is the invisible hand that
guides capitalism. The right to fair competition enables rules to be laid out to prevent certain
businesses from obtaining unfair advantages. Additionally, consumers ability to choose which
product is best is

Comparing Religions And Beliefs Of Christianity And Islam
Christianity and Islam have a lot in common. One of the many is they are both monotheistic
religions. Both religions teach the same things like respect and tolerance. Muslims and Christians
have much in common in our mutual interests in governing families and in educating children in
virtue and in knowledge of the good, and in these areas, we have the basis for a building block of
harmony between us (Kleven, 2013).
Followers of Christianity are called Christians. Christians believe that the son of God, Christ,
walked the earth as an incarnate of God. Christians believe at the end of the world that Christ will
return. We also believe in the deity of Jesus. Christian worship: The father, son and holy spirit.
Scripture comes from The Holy Bible. Christians worship in personal dwellings, churches,
chapels, cathedrals. It was originated in Judea, a roman province. Christians believe original sin
was created by Adam. Mankind needs forgiveness for this inherited sin. Christians choose their
actions by knowing what s right and what s wrong. Christians believe that we are in need of
salvation and should be repaired by God. Practice such as: prayer, communion, sacraments,
worship in church, reading of the bible and acts of charity. Christian clergies consist of: nuns,
ministers, monks, bishops and priest. They believe it is life after death. You will spend eternity in
Heaven or eternity in Hell. Marriage is a holy sacrament for Christians. Mary is the mother of God.

Heart Of Darkness Historical Context
In his 1963 Letter from Birmingham Jail, Dr. Martin Luther King famously said, We are not makers
of history. We are made by history. This significant quote conveys that the history and culture of any
given event or person, fiction or nonfiction, largely determines the outcome of that said person or
event. Thus, by analyzing the historical context of any given person or situation, the historyand
culture can explain to the viewer the influences that shape the plot and offer explanation as to why
certain events eventually lead to their conclusion. In Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness, historical
analysis of the native Congolese culture and history, as portrayed both in reality and in the novel,
serve to explain the clashes between Europeans... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is key to the novel as the portray of Kurtz as a god worshipped by the natives, in addition to
their reverence of the rifles, the heads on sticks and other ornamentations to Kurtz, implies
significant themes about imperialism. These superstitions were very similar to reality and a
report that records the superstitions of the Congolese at the time of colonization said that the
Congolese believed in sorcery to help them with good results in life and that witchcraft was an
inborn trait that allowed its possessor to harm other people (Price, Jureidini). Another report said
that, In general, worshipped multiple spirits that were associated with a supreme being. People
prayed to these spirits or to dead ancestors whom they believed could influence the spirits. In
most areas, leaders derived some of their power from religious practices. The rulers of the Kongo
people, for instance, were thought of as protectors of the spirits of the land. (The Choices Program)
This is significant for it describes the actions of Kurtz, whose character establishes a major theme of
the book the madness the Europeans forced upon themselves by securing absolute power.. Ruppel
likewise described this theme as Krutz epitomizes European society, which went into Africa with
noble intentions but got

Management Information Systems and Creating a Successful...
Management Information Systems Recommendations Report
For Fictitious Company Globally, retailing is witnessing epic transformations. The use of
technology has fueled upheavals in the retail landscape that are revolutionary in scope, and
unprecedented in nature (Leventon, Gupta Magal, 2011). Technology has advanced from the
automation of structured processes to systems that are truly revolutionary in that they introduce
change into the fundamental business procedures, workflow and management of an organization.
Numerous studies have shown that the employment of new or the updating of a business s existing
technology contributes to a firm s competitive advantage, which in turn creates greater value for the
customer (Altshuler, Gelb Henry, 2010; Bharadwaj, 2000; Carr, 2003; Mellville, Kraemer,
Ghurbaxani, 2004). The main operational and human resource challenges for Fictitious Company
that will be addressed from a management information system perspective in this report are: low
levels of inventory, manual procurement procedures, access to new trends, and security and ethical
breaches by employees.
A competitive advantage exists when a company is able to deliver the same benefits as
competitors but at a lower cost, or deliver benefits that exceed those of competing products (Porter,
1998). The operational and human resource challenges experienced by Fictitious Company clearly
places the business at a competitive disadvantage. To address this dilemma it is

Honor Shame Code in The Tale of Heike In The Tale of Heike, the way in which the Japanese
viewed defeat and dying is revealed to the reader through various incidents covered during the
time of the novel. To be defeated was shameful but to prevail was a way to gain respect and
honor. The accounts in Heike tell us that one could defeat an opponent by exiling him, insulting
him, or even taking revenge upon him. Because being defeated was shameful, warriors would kill
themselves before being killed by the opponent. If a warrior failed in his duty, suicide would be the
necessary measure taken to regain honor. Not only could suicide be a way to gain honor, it could
also be a way to shame someone. If you prohibit your enemy ... Show more content on

Munetaka was ordered by Yoshitsune to shoot the fan right square in the middle (420), but
Munetaka hesitated to accept the order saying, if I missed, we d never outlive the disgrace
(420). Not able to refuse the angered Yoshitsune, Munetaka preparing to shoot closed his eyes in
silent prayer saying, Let me hit the center of that fan! If I miss, I ll smash my bow and kill
myself I ll never show my face again (420). Munetaka knew that his failure would disgrace the
Genji and his suicide would be the only way of recompense. Heike also reveals that another way to
defeat your enemy and another way to be shamed by your enemy was through humiliation.
Kiyomori often humiliated his enemies. He exiled Naritsune, Yasuyori, and Shunkan to Kikai ga
shima, a faraway island, because they were conspiring against the Taira. Later, only Naritsune and
Yasuyori were pardoned but Shunkan was not. This was Kiyomori s revenge on Shunkan because
Kiyomori had given Shunkan his job and still had the nerve to betray him (290 291). Through exile,
Kiyomori shamed Naritsune, Yasuyori, and Shunkan by denying them the opportunity to commit
suicide but sentencing them to death by starvation. Insults were another way to shame your enemy.
Nakatsuma passive aggressively denies Munemori the chance to ride Konoshita, his horse, by
saying the horse was tired from having been overridden (306). When Munemori found out that was
a lie, he had been humiliated. To take revenge he seized Konoshita,

Eulogy For America
Once we were revered and powerful. Now we are forgotten relics of the past, left to wither in the
dust of time. No longer are we feared or worshipped, with the vain hope of being spared. I am
Lachesis, measurer of the thread and this is the story of the unavoidable destruction of my sisters
and I, the fates.
She spun around, there was fire, blood, and death everywhere. They had seen the army as it
approached, felt the thud of the earth from their marching. She called out for her son. There was
no escape, but she hoped for it anyway. She stumbled through the market, tripped on bodies and
ignored the wail of a babe that sat beside its mother s unmoving body. Relief bloomed in her chest,
her searching eyes found her son, he ran towards her. Her gaze swept past him and landed on us.
Few excepted what the sight of us meant, hiding even in their last moments from death. The
youngest of us, Clotho was humming almost serene, spinning thread onto its spindle. Myself
measuring what she spun to the determined length, our elder sister Atropos, cackling almost crazed,
she snipped the thread of life. Mortals they cling to life even as the inevitability of death crushes
them beneath its merciless power. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

savaged her son with his sword and then discarded his body. She tried to reach him, but a spear
protruding from her back weighed her down. Then she saw us again, watched as the way the
enemy avoided us . She felt cold, knowing her time had come , she looked right in my eyes as her
life thread was cut. The end frayed as her body slumped to the ground, but it didn t matter. She was

Huntington Religion
The argument Huntington is giving is that there will not be near as many fights over politics and
economic values but more of culture and religious values. Throughout the article he talks a lot
about what he believes will happen but one thing that we can be sure is he believes that there
will be war over culture. As people define their identity in ethnic and religious terms, they are
likely to see an us versus them relation existing between themselves and people of different
ethnicity or religion. This quote from the article shows us that he does believe people will fight
because they see it as it is their culture against everyone else s. It is hard to talk things out with
people who believe the complete different things you believe.... Show more content on

Each one of the claims will go onto support the overall issue that culture will cause the clash of
civilizations. A great support Huntington uses is that no matter what we think of cultures each one
is different in many ways. If its religion, language, or different historical backgrounds these will
cause conflict to arise. With each civilization being different it can be hard to get along with other
people because of how different their views might be. Another issue that arises is that not all, but
many civilizations are influenced by the west. This is where the idea of westernization comes into
play. Each community is trying to improve and be bigger and better themselves, they are trying to
be better than their neighbors. If one civilization improves the surrounding groups will want to be
the same. This means they will compete to be the same or even better than the civilization that
already made it. This can lead to conflict and death between civilizations. Another reason is that
when conflicts arise between civilizations it is a lot harder to resolve than a political or economical
one. Like stated before it is very difficult to change someone s beliefs, that means there is very little
wiggle room for negotiation. The final example that Huntington writes about is that the economic
regionalism is increasing. This means that more cultures and civilization are trading between
themselves, but

Elizabeth Barrett Browning s The Battle Of Marathon
Elizabeth Barrett Browning was born on March 6, 1806 in England. She was the first of twelve
children. Her family were wealthy sugar plantation owners on the British held island of Jamaica
Elizabeth was encouraged by her mother to learn several different languages and by the time
she was six she knew French, Latin and Greek. In 1816, at age 10, Elizabeth was so proficient in
French, she composed a classical French tragedy, Regulus. By the time she was twelve she was
writing short novels and plays. Her poem The Battle of Marathon, was privately printed for her
fourteenth birthday. Elizabeth s work was rooted in religious and government themes. She also
wrote about freedom and love, for even at a young age felt empathy for the slaves her family

two sisters recovered quickly, however Elizabeth then came down with a case of the measles.
She was sent away to recover, however after 10 months she was still not well. She complained of

amount of time in a spine crib ; which was believed to have made her weaker. One treatment the
doctors did agree on was the use of Opium. This combined with laudanum was a common practice

Compare Wilfred Owen And Brooke
Good afternoon members of the Australian English literature society, I m so thankful and
privileged to be here today. Throughout many centuries, we have seen the devastation and
heartache brought into our lives by the continuous negativity and hate surrounding vicious war
attacks. Today I am here to give you an insight into the way that poets through history have used
war as a meaningful way source of literature to change and influence the lives of others. The poets
in which we will be looking at, are Wilfred Owen and Rupert Brooke.
Owen and Brooke were both poets writing during the First World War with poems containing the
themes of war. They both have very different perspectives on the topic. In both Owen s poems
Dulce et decorum Est and insensibility, he highlights the horror and terrifying experiences seen
in first hand from his own experience of being a soldier of war. Both these poems give the reader
a sense of fear and unfamiliarly by explaining the pain and suffering endured throughout the war.
He also expresses his own feelings about how dying at war for your country is not as honourable
and glorious as it seems , he believes that no matter the cause of a soldiers death , it s very painful
and disheartening to all those around.
While on the other hand in Brooke s poem, The Soldier gives off the impression that dying in
war and battle for one s country is a very honourable and glorious time. A belief that can be seen in
Brookes poem is that he believes it is a

The desire to control alcohol consumption, or advocate temperance, has been a goal of humanity
throughout countless periods of history. Many countries have had organized temperance
movements, including Australia, Canada, Britain, Denmark, Poland, and of course, the United
States. The American temperance movement was the most widespread reform movement of the
19th century, culminating in laws that completely banned the sale of all alcoholic beverages. The
movement progressed from its humble local roots to nationwide organizations with millions of
members and large amounts of political power. The growth of the temperance movementresulted

This creation of a strong domestic market involved extension of trade links between
communities that were previously not joined. The production of domestic goods increased while
the price of the goods decreased, allowing urban growth and specialization among manufacturers.
During this time, a division formed between men and women, where men s work moved away
from home while women s became fixed there. A new society was formed after the Revolutionary
War, and the norms of colonial America soon became a thing of the past. Consumption of alcohol
changed greatly after the war as well. Whiskey became the America s favorite liquor, and a deeply
valued trade item. It was efficient to make, saved materials, and cheap for people to buy. Whiskey
was suddenly being consumed in record amounts, and was even used to instead of water and milk
in cities, where the water was often polluted and the milk expensive (Blocker 9). Drinking changed
in ways other than higher consumption rates and cheaper whisky in cities. Whereas in the colonies
drinking took place in community situations, in the cities drinking often took place outside the
home. It was no longer being produced by families but had to be purchased with money that can
ultimately hurt the family. People began drinking more in informal individual situations instead of

Saint Domingue Research Paper
Vladimir Lenin once said that Freedom in capitalist society always remains about the same as it

the French colony of Saint Domingue before the Haitian Revolution and in the metaphorical sense
in Russia before Lenin and his followers, the Bolsheviks took power. Saint Domingue s class
structure was mainly based on one s race and Russia s classes were largely based on one s wealth.

It is hard to argue that any president of the United States has made no mistakes; however, Andrew
Jackson left a long lasting impact on presidency campaigns and made it what it is today. In
reference to the Great President Model Lecture, Jackson falls under the category of being great for
multiple reasons; one is being that he had served more than one term, another that he accomplished
something of long term importance and significance. In the two terms he had served, he had
forever changed the way campaigns are held. Jackson had a very bias opinion and somewhat of a

Brett Schaefer And Steven Groves
Brett Schaefer and Steven Groves believes the United States decision was justifiable. They argue
that the International Criminal Court has a worthy purpose, but still has issues that need to be
addressed before the United States would join the court. Schaefer and Groves explain the Article 98
Agreement and the American Service Member Protection Act. Also their argument contains the five
concerns the Bush Administration had about joining the ICC, but the two major concerns regard
the fear of political abuse of power and also the threat to national sovereignty.
In contrast, Michael P. Scharf believes the United Statesdecision was unjustifiable. He argues, the
conference in Rome attempted to compromise; however, the United States was not satisfied with
the modifications. What makes the refusal unjustifiable is because the United States did not want
be subjected to prosecutions and they did not want to take responsibility for their actions.
Schaefer and Groves argument contains facts. As an example, the International Criminal Courtdoes
not have a clear definition of what the crime of aggression is and has yet to define the crimes it
claims jurisdiction over (p. 152). This fact supports why the United States decision is justifiable
because their military actions could be charged by enemy countries since there is no clear definition
of what aggression means. Another example is that the International Criminal Court can prosecute
an individual from a country that is not party

insane drum part, and I can just feel the stampede running through my ears. It is the most

I didn t realize that the wait in line would drag on slower than a one legged turtle trying to get

finally, down the street I see several tour busses heading our way. I apologize if my language
offends you here, but i almost shit myself with excitement when They pulled up. The clock
could finally stop staring at me with that devilish smirk, and I could finally take my rightful
place as ruler of the front row. The big doors to the venue, which proudly I stood directly in front
of, slowly creaked open, as if asking are you sure you re ready? , and we all started scampering
in like dogs that had been left outside in the rain all day. I proudly handed the first ticket over to
the burly dude collecting tickets, and immediately ran to the front of the stage. I guess I forgot
about Ty and Dillon, but they ended up making their way up to the front anyway. Standing there,
you could feel the thick anticipation in the air, and smell the musty, sweaty bodies that had been
waiting outside all day. I didn t notice on my way up, probably due to being overly excited, but

discovered in 1869 by astronomer Richard A. Proctor. He realized that all of the big dippers stars
except Eta, have proper motions heading toward the constellation Sagittarius.
The big dipper within Ursa Major represents The great bear. It is recognized as a distinct

American Categorization
The History of a Powerful Categorization: Race in America As humans, we often find comfort in
the ability to separate and sort objects, ideas, and even people into innumerable categories that we
may refer to with ease. Even if there exists no scientific support for such classification, we find that
our innate nature allows us to socially construct certain divisions. Merriam Webster Dictionary
possesses numerous definitions for the word race; one that appears commonly describes this abstract
idea as, Any one of the groups that humanbeings can be divided into based on shared distinctive
physical traits (Merriam Webster.com). This definition remains intangible as American history in
particular paints an ever changing picture of racial categorization... Show more content on

Mexico, in a struggle for independence from Spain, expected the U.S. to assist in their rebellion as
the U.S. had recently undergone a similar revolution. America, however, had a different idea about
land to the west, and decided not to aid these Latin American rebels (Desmond Emirbayer 70).
Although these rebels rightfully won their land back from the iron grasp of Spanish colonization,
by 1845 the United States forced Mexico to hand over the land that makes up present day Texas.
The Mexican race, although in close proximity to the United States, became loathed by whites. A
politician named William Wharton described the collective detestation towards Mexicans within

Key words: Himalayas, Flora, nature, landscape, orchids.
Introduction:
Ruskin Bond has vividly and extensively explored the fascinating world of flora. His knowledge
of the world of flora is astounding. He has been trekking up the Himalayan foothills since long.
The way he describes hundreds of species of trees, plants, shrubs, and flowers, leaves his readers
amazed. He writes like an expert botanist, but what is more important, he writes like a highly eco
sensitive being who is in love with all creations of the cosmos. While describing the flora on the
mountains, he informs his readers how the flora changes dramatically while ascending the foothills.
His stories revolve round these beautiful surroundings of Himalayan landscape. In his books he
gives far reaching details about the plants that are found there, right from their botanical

Cromwell s Responsibility For Expansions And Effectiveness...
Cromwell s Responsibility For Expansions And Effectiveness Of Government Between 1530 and
1539
The most influential and controversial thesis concerning Cromwell s role in the revolution in
government in the 1530s was Elton s The Tudor Revolution in Government . In this work, Elton
asses Cromwell as the most remarkable revolutionary in English history. . Elton argued that
Cromwell seized the unique opportunity presented by Henry VIII s martial problems to turn
England into a unified, independent sovereign state, ruled by a constitutional monarch through
national and bureaucratic institutions. This is certainly true to an extent however it could be
argued that these changes were reactionary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The appointments of both the Earl of Norfolk and Charles Brandon, Earl of Suffolk, seem
indicative of a politically and religiously conservative council. These facts obviously take
responsibility for these changes away from Cromwell.
The importance of the executive Privvy Council is that it gave drive and continuity to royal
government owing to the stability of its membership no longer did the impetus need to come
from the monarch or chief minister. This would be particularly important after Cromwell s
downfall in the 1540s, when Henry did not allow another Cromwell to emerge and his powers
were failing, and even more after 1547 when Edward VI was a boy, succeeded by two women.
The Privvy Council took over responsibility for the executive. It had certainly taken over the
management of the day to day business on behalf of the monarch by Elizabeth s reign, but it is most
doubtful that this occurred in the 1530s or that Cromwell planned it.
Several other objections have been raised to Elton s assessment of the development of the Privvy
Council. Elton argued that Cromwell was able by the reorganisation of the haphazard medieval
Council into a more formally constituted board of government; and by the promotion of the
principal secretary (himself) to get himself appointed the chief executive and co ordinating minister.
Rather than judging it to be part of Cromwell s plan to

Softball And Baseball Similarities
Softball vs. Baseball
Softball and baseball are two completely different sports but have many similarities. Baseball and
softball have the same purpose, in general, for playing the game. Both games play to score runs

there are several differences within that game.
The rules of softball and baseball are easy to compare and contrast because they are so similar.
Some similarities of the two games are; they both have mercy rules and both have a maximum
of 9 players on the field at once. There are more differences in the two games then there is
similarities. Softball has a total of 7 innings and baseball has 9. The run rule for each game is
different. In baseball you have to be leading by 10 runs in the end of the 7th inning. The softball
run rule is you have to be leading by 8 runs after the 5th inning. A major difference in the rules of

What began with the burst of the housing bubble, this ubiquitous event affected all facets of the

Schultz s vision and direction was reigniting the emotional attachment with customers (Husain,

and ideas through technology using social media. This plan fostered an environment of passion and
involvement of the community. In order to embark on this initiative and attempt to return to its

Leadership Style There are many leadership styles that can be employed to be effective in business.

which have their own attributes and limitations (Mindtool Editorial Team, n.d.). In some cases a

Hiatal Hernia Essay
A hiatal hernia occurs when the upper part of your stomach pushes up through your diaphragm
and into your chest region. The actual cause of hiatal hernias is unknown. There are two types of
hiatal hernias, fixed and sliding. This condition mostly occurs in people who are over 50 years
old. It can affect up to 60 percent of people by the time they turn 60 years old.
Causes
The exact cause is unknown. The diaphragm is a muscle that lies between the abdomen and chest
that helps you breathe. The stomach lies below the diaphragm. In most people injury may weaken
muscle tissue which can make it possible for the stomach to push through the diaphragm. Another
cause can be putting too much pressure repeatedly on the muscles around the stomach. Examples
are coughing, vomiting, straining during bowel movements, lifting heavy objects, obesity, aging,
smoking, and slouching while sitting.
Types of Hiatal Hernias
There are two types of hiatal hernias, sliding and fixed. A sliding hernia is the most common type
of hiatal hernia. It occurs when the area where the esophagus meets the stomach and slides up into
the chest through the hole in the diaphragm. A fixed hernia, also called... Show more content on

The practice of busking has given Newcastle a soundtrack, a musical backdrop to the chaos of city
life. However, street performers are often restricted to limited areas in order to oblige the
regulations set out by the council.
This book introduces the aim of the project whereas to promote the practice of music and enables
artists and guest curators to explore their creativity while participating and engaging with music. A
platform provided to become the mass populist entertainment for the population.

The lack of interesting places for concert has affected people to have less interest in visiting music
spaces and there should be a suitable one for the use, enjoyment and also benefit the people of this
vibrant city.
It may not be the ultimate music space, but the premise of this project is to unite musicians with
supported facilities and give them the opportunity to promote their own music. Audiences will be
offered with a fully immersive ambience and a complete program of professional cultural
entertainment.
The book will demonstrate the intention of creating the music hall through its position first and
foremost as an entertainment, and secondly as a cultural presence that is increasingly seen as a key
element in regeneration plans.3
Nature of Subject / Topics
A lot of people s perception of buskers is both brutally frank and ironic despite this artistic practice
has always been as part of the contribution to this culture. They are far less appreciative of these
performances that are carried out with a genre which they could never normally encounter. In
consideration of the addressed matter, the music hall services as a stage that nurtures homegrown
talent and accommodates wandering players.

Essay On Dna Storage
Hypothetically, if the world we know today was set back to the stone age because of a colossal
destruction of a short. Where or how will information collected by us be preserved? And more
importantly how will we binge watch the new season of Stranger Things. Well it s literally inside
everyone and everything, any guesses, it s DNA. So, hypothetically if we re to store information
in our DNA does that make us cyborgs, ah? Before we get too hypothetical, why DNA from all
things. First of all, DNA will stand time long before an individual passed and secondly DNA is
universal as DNA is in everyone and everything and thirdly DNA can be easily replicated without a
limitation. Therefore, will DNA be the future of storing media? Yes. It s... Show more content on

Then, they sequenced the DNA and successfully decoded the message. It soon became obvious
that DNA cryptography could code for much more than simple text by translating the1 s and 0 s
of binary code into DNA codons. (TED Ed, 2017) Scientist used DNA codons to code message into
DNA strands and today scientist can code HD movies into DNA codons. To do so scientist used a
powerful new gene editing technique (known as Crispr) to slip the sequence of the DNA molecules
that represented the entirety of the film into the genome of a common gut bacteria, named E. coli.
The entire film was preserved and intact (Kolata, 2017).
The limitations of storing DNA is limitless compared to hard drives as DNA is universal because
DNA is found in every organism and can be created by scratch. This future is closer than ever as
mainstream companies such as Microsoft has planned to store their data onto DNA in the next
three years. As the chief scientist of the Semiconductor Research Corporation of Microsoft Victor
Zhirnov states. Is that efforts to shrink computer memory are hitting physical limits, but DNA can
store data at incredible densities. DNA is the densest known storage medium in the universe, just
based on the laws of physics. That is the reason why people are looking into this. And the problem
we are solving is the exponential growth of stored information. (Mcrae, 2017) People in the future
will experience the conveniences of storing

A Classical View Of The Romantic Movement
Hypothesis: John Keats Odes were heavily influence by Classical ideologies which related to the
wider philosophy of the Romantic Movement.
This essay will apply a Classical perspective to John Keats Odes. I will examine how John Keats
was inspired by the ideologies of the Greeks and Roman mythology. John Keats based his Odes on
Roman myths and Greek artefacts; he used these to explore wider themes that relate to Greek
Philosophy. This essay will show how Keats related the wider philosophy of the Romantic
Movement to the ideologies to the Classical eras. It will also show the cultural similarities between
Antiquity and 19th century Britain which evoked similar lines of thought. The similarities which
characterised each of the three eras are linked by the socio cultural context of war and tyrannous
government. [Holden, S, 1970; Long, AA, 1985] This led to a movement in philosophical thought
in both eras that examined ways to improve the human condition. Both Keats and Greek
philosophers saw attaining pleasure as the means of achieving this objective.
AA Long s analysis of Epicureanism enables me to develop an understanding of Epicureanism in
order for me to develop my own critical perspective on John Keats as AA long is a primary and
reliable source as he is a British and American classical scholar and professor of classics. He has a
greater understanding of the classical world and he understands Epictetus the studies in Hellenistic
and Roman mythology. John Keats had

Descriptive Essay About My Birthday Day
January 13, 2012 is the day when tears ran down my cheeks and feeling the wind rush against
my drenched skin, hoping it would drown the sorrows along with the cruise. That day, I felt the
pain stab through my heart as I stood on the island and wished they would come back to me.
Looking all around and seeing joy, regret, and distraught looks on everyone. The coast guards
grabbing me and directing all of us away. Glancing over my shoulder to look at the wreckage one
last time, only to close them quickly after seeing the golden bracelet floating in the water again.
At 9:39 pm. I walked into my friend s cabin and glanced around surprised. The room was covered
with blue and purple balloons, and streamers. Directly on the wall was a banner ... Show more

My friend grabs my hand so tight I thought it might break. I thought to myself we are going to
survive this together as water started filling up the ship. Squeezing her hand just as tight as we
both push with everything we had in us to get out of the halls. Fifteen minutes later we are on the
outside of the ship as it continues to tilt. We see the deck is covered with water up to our ankles
and the employees are calling for women and children first. Pulling my best friend along trying to
push through to get to the lifeboats.
As we arrived to one of the last lifeboats, we hear loud sobbing behind us. I turn around and see a
mother attempting to comfort her young sobbing daughter by rubbing and hugging her. My best
friend and I looked at each other and nodded to each other, instantly understanding each as fast as
lightning strikes. We both step aside and let them take the last two seats on the lifeboat. We
stand there watching the lifeboat get lowered into the sea, the water splashing into my mouth
getting it all salty. We quickly run around looking for any lifeboats. We see one unoccupied and
we sprint like our lives on the line. Right before we got to it, The Italian Captain pushes the
lifeboat in the water and jumps in. We get to the rail and stare down and see the captain not even
sparing us a glance as he got to safety to the island nearby. My friend looked at me with

I have made a colleague over the book Best of the Best by Tim Green. In this essay I will explain
why I chose the pictures I chose and what they mean to the story I have read. In the top left hand
corner of my project I have chosen theme, to be the topic of this section. The theme of this book is
about a young twelve year old boy and his baseballdream. Notice I have used a slightly large
picture of Derek Jeter that is because in the book Josh LeBlanc the main character says in page
nine teen Jaden knows someday I hope to be play major league ball like my father, but since I
am short stop I hope to be like Derek Jeter . I have also used a picture of the little league world
series in Williamsport Pennsylvania this is because Josh and the Lexington all star team are on
the road to the little league World Series. On page ten Josh s father tells him Josh I have to tell

to cheer me up over my parents divorcing, but the only thing going through my mind was the
championship game in Williamsport this Saturday . Why I have chosen to use a picture of the

AMERICAN CONNECTOR COMPANY CASE STUDY
Q1 How serious is the threat of DJC to American Connector Company?
Answer The threat of DJC to American Connector Company is very high. Following are the reasons:
Г If DJC sets up manufacturing base in USA, as per the exhibit 7 and exhibit 8 the raw material
cost for DJC in USA will drastically reduce. Current Raw material product and packaging cost is
14.89 which will reduce to 8.93 in USA.As the raw material cost is almost half of the total

Q3: What accounts for these differences? How much of the difference is inherent in the way each
of the two companies competes? How much is due strictly to differences in the efficiency of the
operations?
Answer
a) There are many reasons for these differences:
Г Fixed Asset utilisation: Due to continuous factory runtime, the overall utilisation of fixed asset
increases for DJC Kawasaki in comparison ACC Sunnyvale s plant.
Г Raw material cost: In Japan raw material cost is twice as much high as in America.
Г Production Process: Due to batch production system in ACC, there were changes required in
production line every time product was changed which lead to less efficiency and lower expertise in
churning out a product. This issue was not there with DJC continuous production process with
lesser number of product variations.
Г Quality issues: The number of defective finished goods is very less for DJC when compared to
ACC.

Birley and Moreland (1998) argued that data collection could be considered as the method towards
developing a research proposal. Data collection can be considered as the process of a research
project where the occurrence of real research is felt by many researchers. Two types of data
collection approach were chosen, qualitative and quantitative. Denzin and Lincoln (2005) mentions
about qualitative research allow more in depth understanding of the social and cultural impacts
people experience. Qualitative methodology is a research process that allows the researcher to
observe sociocultural lifestyle and feel the live action (Babbie, 2007). There are no indications of
using any analysis or statistics (Boeree, 2005). The disadvantage of qualitative methodology are not
comprehensive when compared to quantitative methodology as the information gathered are about
interpreting the ideology and concluding the meanings as well as impacts taken from methodology

Globalisation and higher education funding policy shifts in Kenya
Gerald Wangenge Ouma*
Faculty of Education, University of the Western Cape, Bellville, South Africa This paper identifies,
examines and discusses higher education funding policy shifts that have taken place in Kenya. The
paper argues that even though Kenya s higher education funding policy shifts, from free higher

of the country s encounter with globalisation, local social, political and economic dynamics have

Thus, globalisation is a dynamic of various interlinked processes operating on a planetary scale. The
various dynamics of globalisation, always operating simultaneously, have serious implications for,
and influences on, higher education (Altbach, 2004; Maasen Cloete, 2002; Marginson Rhoades,
2002; Vaira, 2004). For this paper, the important question is: How are the forces driving the
(financial) restructuring of higher education being driven by processes of globalisation? The
dynamics of globalisation circumscribe the various education policy shifts witnessed recently in
education, in general, and higher education, in particular. Therefore, globalisation has become a key
concept with which to interpret, inter alia, policy changes affecting higher education. Some of the
aspects of globalisation impacting upon higher education include the hegemonic rise of English as
the language of scientific communication (Altbach, 2004), advancements in information
communication and technology, and the hegemonic rise of neo liberalism as the de facto
economic mode of the late twentieth century and the twenty first century (Castells, 1996;
Friedman, 1999; Fukuyama, 1992; Scholte, 1997; 2000). As far as higher education funding
policies are concerned, the establishment of neo liberalism as the de facto economic mode could
be said to be of the greatest impact (Carnoy, 2000; Henry et al. 2001; Maasen

  • 2. The Complexity Of Identity Work Constructed By Manh Essay Data analysis This section provides an analysis of several aspects of identity work constructed by Manh, one of the five teachers participated in my study. Through the analysis, it is interesting to observe the complexity of Manh s identity construction. The identity work constructed by Manh encompasses not only aspects of Manh being a friendly and approachable teacher, but also Manh s approach to power and morality exercising in the classroom context. The analysis is divided into two main parts. The first part exhibits examples of how Manh portraits himself as a funny, sensible and approachable teacher. The second part presents examples where traces of power practice and morality are under scrutiny. Class observation notes and interview data including are used as a complementary sources for the analysis. 1.1.The dynamic process of identity construction Drawing from the classroom data, there are examples where Manh s identity construction can be associated to the identity of a funny, friendly and approachable teacher. This observation is drawn from several teacher initiated humour examples found in the classroom discourse. The humor is delivered through teacher s use of humorous questions, imaginary situation and metaphor that provokes humor. These phenomena are found in extract 1. Extract 1 is taken from one of Manh s lessons and the main topic is about friendship . According to my observation from this particular stage of the lesson, Manh writes on the board one at a ... He played a big role in the Russian Revolution where the Bolsheviks rebelled in 1917. Trotsky was always in second to Lenin in the Soviet Communist Rule. However, in the end he lost his leadership to Stalin. In the allegory Animal Farm, the author, George Orwell wrote Leon Trotskyas the pig Snowball, a leader in the Animal Revolution. There are three important facts about Trotsky that made George Orwell pick him as Snowball. The Russian Revolution, after war and his relation with Snowball is why George Orwell chose Trotsky. First is the Russian Revolution. Before the revolution, Trotsky became a member of the Menshevik Faction. Then he came to Russiain 1917 after he escaped the St. Peter Soviet of 1903. He joined the revolution despite Lenin s disagreements and Trotsky had a theory of a permanent revolution ( Leon Trotsky ). In the revolution, he at first was a foreign commissar. When he negotiated a peace treaty with Germany, he went up to a war commissar and led the triumphant Red Army against the White Army ( Leon Trotsky ).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to stop the rebellion, the Bolsheviks were forced to sign a peace treaty: The Treaty of Brest Litorskon. This treaty handed over Finland, Poland, the Baltic Provinces, Ukraine and Transcasia to the Central Powers on March 3, 1918 ( Russian Revolution ). Once Lenin died, Stalin came and took this opportunity to kick Trotsky out of Russia in 1927. Trotsky finally settled in Mexico in 1936; however, it seems Stalin was not done. • 4. Private Economic System The economic system adopted in the United States is the private enterprise system. This system, supports private individuals that recognize and serve the needs and demands of consumers. The private enterprise system lessens government interference in the economy. Consequently, businesses that satisfy and adapt to consumers needs are the ones who profit and succeed. This competition between businesses gets rid of businesses that are not able to produce the best product at the best price. This type of system is also known as capitalism. In Adam Smith s The wealth of Nations it is indicated that capitalism is threatened by privileges extended to certain members of the economy at the expense of others. Thus, it is pertinent to have the rights to private property, profits, freedom of choice, and competition for capitalism to function properly.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This right is essential in the trade of goods and services because it warrants consumers the permission to purchase their demands. The right to profit is also important in capitalism because it necessitates for people to abandon the security of working for someone else and assume the risks of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is important because it brings new products and ideas to the market. Also, Freedom of choice allows individuals to change jobs, negotiate wages, join labor unions, and choose among many different brands of goods and services. By supplying different choices, the private enterprise system increases citizens prosperity. Lastly, competition occurs when two or more businesses vie for the same resources or customers and it is the invisible hand that guides capitalism. The right to fair competition enables rules to be laid out to prevent certain businesses from obtaining unfair advantages. Additionally, consumers ability to choose which product is best is ... • 5. Comparing Religions And Beliefs Of Christianity And Islam Christianity and Islam have a lot in common. One of the many is they are both monotheistic religions. Both religions teach the same things like respect and tolerance. Muslims and Christians have much in common in our mutual interests in governing families and in educating children in virtue and in knowledge of the good, and in these areas, we have the basis for a building block of harmony between us (Kleven, 2013). Followers of Christianity are called Christians. Christians believe that the son of God, Christ, walked the earth as an incarnate of God. Christians believe at the end of the world that Christ will return. We also believe in the deity of Jesus. Christian worship: The father, son and holy spirit. Scripture comes from The Holy Bible. Christians worship in personal dwellings, churches, chapels, cathedrals. It was originated in Judea, a roman province. Christians believe original sin was created by Adam. Mankind needs forgiveness for this inherited sin. Christians choose their actions by knowing what s right and what s wrong. • 6. Heart Of Darkness Historical Context In his 1963 Letter from Birmingham Jail, Dr. Martin Luther King famously said, We are not makers of history. We are made by history. This significant quote conveys that the history and culture of any given event or person, fiction or nonfiction, largely determines the outcome of that said person or event. Thus, by analyzing the historical context of any given person or situation, the historyand culture can explain to the viewer the influences that shape the plot and offer explanation as to why certain events eventually lead to their conclusion. In Joseph Conrad s Heart of Darkness, historical analysis of the native Congolese culture and history, as portrayed both in reality and in the novel, serve to explain the clashes between Europeans... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is key to the novel as the portray of Kurtz as a god worshipped by the natives, in addition to their reverence of the rifles, the heads on sticks and other ornamentations to Kurtz, implies significant themes about imperialism. These superstitions were very similar to reality and a report that records the superstitions of the Congolese at the time of colonization said that the Congolese believed in sorcery to help them with good results in life and that witchcraft was an inborn trait that allowed its possessor to harm other people (Price, Jureidini). Another report said that, In general, worshipped multiple spirits that were associated with a supreme being. People prayed to these spirits or to dead ancestors whom they believed could influence the spirits. In most areas, leaders derived some of their power from religious practices. The rulers of the Kongo people, for instance, were thought of as protectors of the spirits of the land. (The Choices Program) This is significant for it describes the actions of Kurtz, whose character establishes a major theme of the book the madness the Europeans forced upon themselves by securing absolute power.. • 7. Management Information Systems and Creating a Successful... Management Information Systems Recommendations Report For Fictitious Company Globally, retailing is witnessing epic transformations. The use of technology has fueled upheavals in the retail landscape that are revolutionary in scope, and unprecedented in nature (Leventon, Gupta Magal, 2011). Technology has advanced from the automation of structured processes to systems that are truly revolutionary in that they introduce change into the fundamental business procedures, workflow and management of an organization. Numerous studies have shown that the employment of new or the updating of a business s existing technology contributes to a firm s competitive advantage, which in turn creates greater value for the customer (Altshuler, Gelb Henry, 2010; Bharadwaj, 2000; Carr, 2003; Mellville, Kraemer, Ghurbaxani, 2004). The main operational and human resource challenges for Fictitious Company that will be addressed from a management information system perspective in this report are: low levels of inventory, manual procurement procedures, access to new trends, and security and ethical breaches by employees. A competitive advantage exists when a company is able to deliver the same benefits as competitors but at a lower cost, or deliver benefits that exceed those of competing products (Porter, 1998). The operational and human resource challenges experienced by Fictitious Company clearly places the business at a competitive disadvantage. To address this dilemma it is ... Honor-Shame Code in The Tale of the Heike Essay 11/28/12 HIST485 Honor Shame Code in The Tale of Heike In The Tale of Heike, the way in which the Japanese viewed defeat and dying is revealed to the reader through various incidents covered during the time of the novel. To be defeated was shameful but to prevail was a way to gain respect and honor. The accounts in Heike tell us that one could defeat an opponent by exiling him, insulting him, or even taking revenge upon him. Because being defeated was shameful, warriors would kill themselves before being killed by the opponent. If a warrior failed in his duty, suicide would be the necessary measure taken to regain honor. Not only could suicide be a way to gain honor, it could also be a way to shame someone. If you prohibit your enemy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If I miss, I ll smash my bow and kill myself I ll never show my face again (420). Munetaka knew that his failure would disgrace the Genji and his suicide would be the only way of recompense. Heike also reveals that another way to defeat your enemy and another way to be shamed by your enemy was through humiliation. Kiyomori often humiliated his enemies. He exiled Naritsune, Yasuyori, and Shunkan to Kikai ga shima, a faraway island, because they were conspiring against the Taira. Later, only Naritsune and Yasuyori were pardoned but Shunkan was not. This was Kiyomori s revenge on Shunkan because Kiyomori had given Shunkan his job and still had the nerve to betray him (290 291). Through exile, Kiyomori shamed Naritsune, Yasuyori, and Shunkan by denying them the opportunity to commit suicide but sentencing them to death by starvation. Insults were another way to shame your enemy. Nakatsuma passive aggressively denies Munemori the chance to ride Konoshita, his horse, by saying the horse was tired from having been overridden (306). No longer are we feared or worshipped, with the vain hope of being spared. I am Lachesis, measurer of the thread and this is the story of the unavoidable destruction of my sisters and I, the fates. She spun around, there was fire, blood, and death everywhere. They had seen the army as it approached, felt the thud of the earth from their marching. She called out for her son. There was no escape, but she hoped for it anyway. She stumbled through the market, tripped on bodies and ignored the wail of a babe that sat beside its mother s unmoving body. Relief bloomed in her chest, her searching eyes found her son, he ran towards her. Her gaze swept past him and landed on us. Few excepted what the sight of us meant, hiding even in their last moments from death. The youngest of us, Clotho was humming almost serene, spinning thread onto its spindle. Myself measuring what she spun to the determined length, our elder sister Atropos, cackling almost crazed, she snipped the thread of life. • 12. Huntington Religion The argument Huntington is giving is that there will not be near as many fights over politics and economic values but more of culture and religious values. Throughout the article he talks a lot about what he believes will happen but one thing that we can be sure is he believes that there will be war over culture. As people define their identity in ethnic and religious terms, they are likely to see an us versus them relation existing between themselves and people of different ethnicity or religion. This quote from the article shows us that he does believe people will fight because they see it as it is their culture against everyone else s. It is hard to talk things out with people who believe the complete different things you believe.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each one of the claims will go onto support the overall issue that culture will cause the clash of civilizations. A great support Huntington uses is that no matter what we think of cultures each one is different in many ways. If its religion, language, or different historical backgrounds these will cause conflict to arise. With each civilization being different it can be hard to get along with other people because of how different their views might be. Another issue that arises is that not all, but many civilizations are influenced by the west. This is where the idea of westernization comes into play. Each community is trying to improve and be bigger and better themselves, they are trying to be better than their neighbors. If one civilization improves the surrounding groups will want to be the same. This means they will compete to be the same or even better than the civilization that already made it. This can lead to conflict and death between civilizations. Another reason is that when conflicts arise between civilizations it is a lot harder to resolve than a political or economical one. Like stated before it is very difficult to change someone s beliefs, that means there is very little wiggle room for negotiation. The final example that Huntington writes about is that the economic regionalism is increasing. This means that more cultures and civilization are trading between themselves, but ... • 16. Compare Wilfred Owen And Brooke Good afternoon members of the Australian English literature society, I m so thankful and privileged to be here today. Throughout many centuries, we have seen the devastation and heartache brought into our lives by the continuous negativity and hate surrounding vicious war attacks. Today I am here to give you an insight into the way that poets through history have used war as a meaningful way source of literature to change and influence the lives of others. The poets in which we will be looking at, are Wilfred Owen and Rupert Brooke. Owen and Brooke were both poets writing during the First World War with poems containing the themes of war. They both have very different perspectives on the topic. In both Owen s poems Dulce et decorum Est and insensibility, he highlights the horror and terrifying experiences seen in first hand from his own experience of being a soldier of war. Both these poems give the reader a sense of fear and unfamiliarly by explaining the pain and suffering endured throughout the war. He also expresses his own feelings about how dying at war for your country is not as honourable and glorious as it seems , he believes that no matter the cause of a soldiers death , it s very painful and disheartening to all those around. While on the other hand in Brooke s poem, The Soldier gives off the impression that dying in war and battle for one s country is a very honourable and glorious time. A new society was formed after the Revolutionary War, and the norms of colonial America soon became a thing of the past. Consumption of alcohol changed greatly after the war as well. Whiskey became the America s favorite liquor, and a deeply valued trade item. It was efficient to make, saved materials, and cheap for people to buy. Whiskey was suddenly being consumed in record amounts, and was even used to instead of water and milk in cities, where the water was often polluted and the milk expensive (Blocker 9). Drinking changed in ways other than higher consumption rates and cheaper whisky in cities. Whereas in the colonies drinking took place in community situations, in the cities drinking often took place outside the home. It was no longer being produced by families but had to be purchased with money that can ultimately hurt the family. People began drinking more in informal individual situations instead of closely tied community events, creating hostility ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. Saint Domingue Research Paper Vladimir Lenin once said that Freedom in capitalist society always remains about the same as it was in ancient Greek republics: Freedom for slave owners. This was true in the literal sense in the French colony of Saint Domingue before the Haitian Revolution and in the metaphorical sense in Russia before Lenin and his followers, the Bolsheviks took power. Saint Domingue s class structure was mainly based on one s race and Russia s classes were largely based on one s wealth. This raises the question, how did the social status in Saint Domingue and Russia in the early 20th century lead to revolution and influence the government systems that replaced them? Who Is Andrew Jackson A Good President It is hard to argue that any president of the United States has made no mistakes; however, Andrew Jackson left a long lasting impact on presidency campaigns and made it what it is today. In reference to the Great President Model Lecture, Jackson falls under the category of being great for multiple reasons; one is being that he had served more than one term, another that he accomplished something of long term importance and significance. In the two terms he had served, he had forever changed the way campaigns are held. Jackson had a very bias opinion and somewhat of a short temper. • 20. Brett Schaefer And Steven Groves Brett Schaefer and Steven Groves believes the United States decision was justifiable. They argue that the International Criminal Court has a worthy purpose, but still has issues that need to be addressed before the United States would join the court. Schaefer and Groves explain the Article 98 Agreement and the American Service Member Protection Act. Also their argument contains the five concerns the Bush Administration had about joining the ICC, but the two major concerns regard the fear of political abuse of power and also the threat to national sovereignty. In contrast, Michael P. Scharf believes the United Statesdecision was unjustifiable. He argues, the conference in Rome attempted to compromise; however, the United States was not satisfied with the modifications. What makes the refusal unjustifiable is because the United States did not want be subjected to prosecutions and they did not want to take responsibility for their actions. Schaefer and Groves argument contains facts. As an example, the International Criminal Courtdoes not have a clear definition of what the crime of aggression is and has yet to define the crimes it claims jurisdiction over (p. 152). This fact supports why the United States decision is justifiable because their military actions could be charged by enemy countries since there is no clear definition of what aggression means. The Teenage Girl The Teenage Girl To most people, Metal music is what they listen to when they re pissed off, or working out, or something involving aggression, and a lot of people just wont listen to it. In this work, Elton asses Cromwell as the most remarkable revolutionary in English history. . The appointments of both the Earl of Norfolk and Charles Brandon, Earl of Suffolk, seem indicative of a politically and religiously conservative council. These facts obviously take responsibility for these changes away from Cromwell. The importance of the executive Privvy Council is that it gave drive and continuity to royal government owing to the stability of its membership no longer did the impetus need to come from the monarch or chief minister. This would be particularly important after Cromwell s downfall in the 1540s, when Henry did not allow another Cromwell to emerge and his powers were failing, and even more after 1547 when Edward VI was a boy, succeeded by two women. The Privvy Council took over responsibility for the executive. It had certainly taken over the management of the day to day business on behalf of the monarch by Elizabeth s reign, but it is most doubtful that this occurred in the 1530s or that Cromwell planned it. Several other objections have been raised to Elton s assessment of the development of the Privvy Council. This essay will apply a Classical perspective to John Keats Odes. I will examine how John Keats was inspired by the ideologies of the Greeks and Roman mythology. John Keats based his Odes on Roman myths and Greek artefacts; he used these to explore wider themes that relate to Greek Philosophy. This essay will show how Keats related the wider philosophy of the Romantic Movement to the ideologies to the Classical eras. It will also show the cultural similarities between Antiquity and 19th century Britain which evoked similar lines of thought. The similarities which characterised each of the three eras are linked by the socio cultural context of war and tyrannous government. [Holden, S, 1970; Long, AA, 1985] This led to a movement in philosophical thought in both eras that examined ways to improve the human condition. The various dynamics of globalisation, always operating simultaneously, have serious implications for, and influences on, higher education (Altbach, 2004; Maasen Cloete, 2002; Marginson Rhoades, 2002; Vaira, 2004). For this paper, the important question is: How are the forces driving the (financial) restructuring of higher education being driven by processes of globalisation? The dynamics of globalisation circumscribe the various education policy shifts witnessed recently in education, in general, and higher education, in particular. Therefore, globalisation has become a key concept with which to interpret, inter alia, policy changes affecting higher education. Some of the aspects of globalisation impacting upon higher education include the hegemonic rise of English as the language of scientific communication (Altbach, 2004), advancements in information communication and technology, and the hegemonic rise of neo liberalism as the de facto economic mode of the late twentieth century and the twenty first century (Castells, 1996; Friedman, 1999; Fukuyama, 1992; Scholte, 1997; 2000).
