Prison Reform
To combat these issues various steps need to be taken three different areas of reform. The first being
preparing prisoners for reentry into the community. Starting namely with keeping the prisoners with
longer sentences updated on relevant technology and social, political, and legal changes so they know
how to operate and function in a modern society upon release. Another essential part of preparing
offenders for reentry would be providing housing upon release for all those who are unable to afford
housing or do not have housing that does not violate probation requirements. Secondly, training
offenders valuable life skills while imprisoned should heighten their chance for success upon release.
Continuing programs that allow offenders to obtain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The education and training should take place during the incarceration period. Upon release the
offender shall receive housing if need be, a place of employment, and a probation officer who can
track their progress and offer any assistance if necessary. It should be a required term of probation or
release as well as a mandated class in the prisons. It would have ideally be implemented by the
government but can be done on a system to system basis. It can be run by both hired and volunteered
help to decrease costs. This program should also be geared toward those who are at a mid to high risk
of reoffending. To be sure it is effective it should be between 100 to 150 hours of work for those at a
moderate risk of reoffending and at least 200 hours for those at a high risk (Latessa 31).
This program can be evaluated by in a couple of different areas. The most important area of evaluation
being the ability to compare the recidivism rates from previous years to the years following the
implementation of the program. It can also be evaluated by looking at the degree of success past
offenders achieve after being released from prison; the job retention they hold. Another form of
evaluation available is by looking at the number of participants in the program compared to each
prison s population as well as the number of those who complete it after entering

Examples Of Hegemonic Masculinity
Writing Assignment 5
In gender studies, hegemonic masculinity is the norms and values upheld as an ideal for all males. The
concept of hegemonic masculinity was proposed first from a field study in Australian high schools of
social inequality by Kessler. (Kessler et al. 1982) The concept was later made popular by sociologist
R.W. Connell. All men are upheld to the image of being the strongest and most aggressive, and to hold
the power over women and other men. What do males have that lead them to commit more crime?
That question has been noted for years, but no one can pinpoint the exact answer. Some sociologist
denote masculinity to the answer of the previous question. From a young age, men are perfectly
characterized as someone who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2012, H M used soccer star David Beckham is perhaps one of the most vivid ads still today.
Beckham, a tattooed, athletic and muscular man, embodies hegemonic masculinity to a sporting
audience. Because Beckham is a globally recognized, the commercial does not need to add his athletic
ability, financial statues, and wife to gain audience viewers. By being married, Beckham is observed
to be a real man. Placing someone like Beckham in a Super Bowl commercial, unlike an ordinary
man, bring a whole new meaning to today s society. An eye opening example of movies that display
hegemonic masculinity are Disney movies. Considering the male roles in The Lion King, Beauty in
the Beast, and the Little Mermaid, the male roles have always come to the rescue to save the princess.
Disney s artist create these male roles to be larger than the other characters and displaying more
muscle. Most of these characters, and many I didn t mention, didn t just save the princess easily. They

Kurt Vonnegut s Slaughterhouse Five
Slaughterhouse Five Thematic Book Review Kurt Vonnegut is often considered one of the greatest
American authors of the twentieth century. His unmatched style and prose set him apart from all
others. Vonnegut describes real situations and works through difficulties in his own life by writing, as
weird and odd as his books are. In Slaughterhouse Five, Vonnegut describes some of his personal
experiences along with mixing in science fiction to get his points and ideas across. In writing this
book, Vonnegut intended to describe the true horrors of war and how they affect a person s mind. He is
saying that everyone sees things differently and interprets everything in a unique way. Slaughterhouse
Five included elements of postmodernism, realism, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Modernism is where everything has a deep, sometimes metaphorical meaning. Modernism also
believes that all problems can be solved with new inventions and innovations, along with a truth that
can be searched for and found if you persist in pursuing the truth. There is really no meaning behind
much of Slaughterhouse Five, and there definitely is no truth in the book to be found. This is
evidenced in many points in the book, like one where Billy looked down the street, saw a new Buick...
He closed his eyes, and opened them again. He was still weeping, but he was back in Luxembourg
again. (Vonnegut 63). This passage, talking about Billy traveling back in time to World War II, refers
to the lack of meaning of time in the book. The book jumps around in time and continually just talks
about random events that relate to Billy Pilgrim. The book also debunks the Modernist idea that all
problems can be solved with new inventions. Responding to Billy s question about how the Universe
ends, the Tralfamadorians reply We blow it up, experimenting with new fuels for our flying saucers.
(117 ). This is a direct blow to Modernism, stating how new inventions are not for the best or
necessarily useful. The book also goes against the Modernist idea of the American dream, with Billy
Pilgrim just wanting to be left alone. He achieves what many would describe as the American dream,
but does not want that. He would rather be left

The Between Socialism And Communism
As the cultural Marxist ideology used by liberals in the United States today originates from Europe,
understanding what politicians represent will go some way to avoiding further American decline, the
slide into a police state and the belief that Obama is a Messiah.
The coming 2016 election is arguably the most important ever held. Consequences from the results
decide the future of the United States and in which direction it will shift, towards European liberal
fascism and equality based Human Rights, alternatively, a return to the constitution.
Not understanding leads to an inability to explain the difference between socialism and communism,
or equality as an abstract. The well fed social justice warriors of today have replaced the poverty class
revolutionaries of yesteryear, with cultural Marxism, explained in an American context. The aims
remain radical and utopic, as do the politicians behind the agenda.
Failure to understand European ideologies is why Bernie Sanders, posing as a Democrat, but a lifelong
Maoist, can pass himself off as a socialist in the Democrat party. The disguise is what allows former
Alinsky radical, Hillary Clinton, a multimillionaire progressive, to run as a Democrat.
The key to understanding ideologies therefore, lies in viewing politics as circular, not linear, with the
centre at the top and the right and left of extremism meeting at the bottom. The choice is the Gestapo
or KGB, concentration camps or slave labour camps and all ending without

Analysis Of The Philosophical Views Of The Other Presented...
Assignment: Final Paper the Other
Nancy Barahona
National University
Philosophy 337
August 1, 2015
Professor Martin Gomez
In looking at the philosophical views of the Other presented by Emmanuel Levinas we will consider
whether we act strictly for the good of others without investing any self interest in what we do or do
we do what we desire most at the end of the day; however, we will find many of our daily interactions
including working, caring for another and just basic interactions are all done in self interest not in the
interest of the Other. According to Rosenstand (2013) Levinas explains the Other as a term seen in
philosophy about a person who is different from oneself; it is when one is facing something or
someone that one is fundamentally unfamiliar with. (Rosenstand, 2013, p. 82) He goes onto explain
that this stranger can be a person of a different sex or race or even someone who has different
experiences than oneself. Levinas sees the bottom line of all human existence as the encounter with
the Other. (Rosenstand, 2013, p. 513) When people meet people they will more often than not meet
someone who is different from them. They will be a different color. A different sex. A different social
class. It will be someone who has grown up in a different environment than them. And instinct will set
in and one will try to change the Other; they will perceive that they are helping the Other but really
they are helping themselves. One person will

The Form Of Government In Bangladesh
Government is the most important one among the elements of a state. Without a government, a state
cannot be formed. The government may be changeable and can be formed in different types. In the
world, the government varies from state to state. The thinkers have argued the classification in a
different way at different times. Lots of discussions have been taken part over the form of
governments. They mainly focused on that which form is the best one among all the forms of
government. Every form of government is different from another. As a consequence, it is very difficult
to pin down the single factor that most closely ties to goodness. The form of government s values may
determine its agreeability to a particular individual or group. On the contrary, its corruptibility
determines how likely it is to adhere to those values in the real world when subjects to the rigor of
human nature.
Government History And System Of Bangladesh:

The Success Of A Restaurant Business
Executive summary
The success of a firm depends very much on the way the personals there are performing. So the firm
have to focus on maintain proper relationship among individuals working there. In doing so, managers
need to learn about organizational behavior, why and how individuals behave in a certain situation,
and how to influence their behavior. The business I want to do in future is a restaurant business. It will
be a traditional UK restaurant with south Asian flavor. The verity of dishes from south Asia will be
combined with UK s traditional dishes. People who look for something new will be our target and the
cost of food will not be too high. Our customers will be middle class people who love food. At first I
will start small but gradually I will expand my business. And in future, I d like to own a chain of
restaurant. The aim of my business will be sufficient profit, proper management, serving food lovers at
low cost and gradually grow in a big chain of restaurants. I d like to manage my business all by
myself, which will give me sole authority but I want to use participative leadership style in managing
business. My business will demand some employees from south Asia and as I want to combine south
Asian flavor with traditional UK flavor, I will also need some UK citizens as my employees. I will
have to deal with cultural diversity and solve the various conflicts arising from them. So I need a

Socrates Stand on Democracy
Reusi 1 Raye Reusi D. Ryals Writing 1 November 14, 2012 Socrates Stand on Democracy Having
emphasized upon me the advantages of democracy, I have always believed that it is the best system to
implement in a country. Ignoring the flaws and weaknesses of this type of system, I thought that the
benefits outweigh all costs. I assume that giving the power to the people is better than having one
person rule the state. However, in Plato s account on the life of his mentor Socrates, we are able to see
both sides of the spectrum: the pros and cons of democracy which are accounted in Plato s dialogues,
the Apology and the Crito. Socrates, having been accused of impiety, is brought to trial in front of the
jury of Athens. In his defense, he points ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet, he implies that the people would not favor anyone that opposes injustice which seems to be the
common dealings in politics. He believes that he would have died long ago (34), although this is not
his ultimate concern. What he truly cares about is not to do anything unjust or impious (32). Despite
his criticisms on politics, Socrates is essentially reminding the people, especially those in authority, to
serve a just and virtuous life. Outwardly stating the current situation of the government, he aims to
provide the people a portrait of the shallow kind of democracy that they have come to maintain.
Socrates seeks to prompt the majority to uphold the true sense of democracy, of fighting for justice
and living life accordingly. Furthermore, Socrates uses his dialectical approach with his friend Crito in
examining the contrast between the knowledge of the one and the pseudo knowledge of the many . He
uses an analogy of a man involved in physical activities, whom must listen to the advice of the true
expert in his training, rather than the opinions thrown by other people who barely know anything
about these activities. Anyone who places a higher regard to the thoughts of the majority, rather than
to the knowledge of the one who possess it, puts himself on greater harm (47). Socrates adds that if we
disobey the one who seeks to

was interested in philosophy religion and read widely. In 1900 Jung joined the staff of the BurghĂślzli

Jung had been elected president of the International Psychoanalytic Society in 1911 and consequently
he resigned from the society in 1914. Their Theory/Therapy A former student of Freud, it is clear that
Jungs approach toward analytical psychology is often expressed through the differences in his
theoretical assumptions compared to Freud and although they agreed on much it is interesting to see
the departures of Jungian psychology: One of Jungs early achievements was to make a distinction
between two personality types; extraverted (people with an outward looking attitude) and introverted
people with inward looking attitudes). Jung later went on to classify the four main functions of the
mind thinking, feeling, sensation, and intuition an d stated that one or more of these functions are
dominant in any personality. Results of this study were embodied in Psychological Types, 1923).
Regarding the theory of Libido, Jung purports that the Libido was not purely sexual energy but
believed it to be Psychic energy, capable of motivating the individual creatively, intellectually and
spiritually. He also believed that libido had an important function for seeking pleasure and resolving
conflict. Regarding the theory of the unconscious, similar to Freud, Jung recognised that the psyche
consists of separate but interconnected systems; comprising of two main spheres, the conscious and
the unconscious. Furthermore, Jung divided the unconscious into two

Concentric Circle Castles
In 1066, there was a new way of construction due to the arrival of the Normans. The Normans brought
the Motte and Bailey Castles and the Concentric Circle Castles to Europe. Castles were used by
royalty to have secure protection from attacks. Castles would be expensive and take a long time to
build, making it only available to the rich and powerful. The first castles that were built during the
arrival of the Normans were the Motte and Bailey Castles, which then progressed into the Concentric
Circle Castles. Motte and Bailey Castles were the first castles brought by the Normans in 1066. They
were wooden and kept on an an artificial mound called a motte (Johnson). The castle would be
surrounded by an enclosed courtyard called a bailey. The whole area would be surrounded by a ditch
and palisade for extra protection (Johnson). The mote would be used as a final fighting destination
when the castle itself had been breached. Many of the Motte and Bailey Castles were built on river
crossings and crossroads because ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The people needed stronger, more durable castles so they would be protected. The Concentric Circle
Castles were much superior to the Motte and Bailey Castles. The Motte and Bailey Castles were made
out of wood, which made it effortless to burn down. Concentric Circle Castles were made out of stone,
so it was not as easy to burn it. Concentric Circle Castles could last in rainy weather, which Motte and
Bailey Castles could not. Concentric Circle Castles were a lot taller and bigger, and had more security.
One of the features of the castle was the ability to attack from the inside. This made it easier to handle
attacks. Since methods of attacking castles improved as time went on, this was a major necessity when
building a castle. The Motte and Bailey Castles turned into Concentric Circle Castles, which was

Trade Between Africa and Eurasia Changed During the Era of...
Although key elements of the trade between Africa and Eurasia changed during the era of 300 1450, a
few factors stayed the same. In 300 C.E., trade routes were primarily between Europe and North
Africa. The way that they changed by the time of 1450 was that they expanded southward and
westward. By 1450, these trade routes went through West Africa, sub Saharan Africa, and the Indian
Ocean. One factor that stayed the same during this time period was that the northern coast of Africa
was always involved in the trade between Africa and the rest of Eurasia.
At the start of this period in 300 C.E, Afro Eurasian trade was not very sophisticated. There was some
collaboration with cultures in the Mediterranean. European goods were brought to ... Show more

This continued from the 800s to the 1300s. At this point of the time period, the Mongols had expanded
throughout Eurasia. However, the only parts of the trade that were affected were the northern parts
between Europe and Asia, because the Mongols concentrated on mostly China, Russia, and some parts
of Eastern Europe. By the 1450s, the gold salt trade started to decline, and soon, the center of trade
started to shift away from the Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean. This was because the age of
exploration started in Europe, and trade concentrated more towards the Atlantic Ocean.
Even though these aspects describe the ways that change occurred with trade between Afro Eurasia,
one important part did stay the same. North Africa was consistent and always a key part of trade
between the continents of Europe, Africa, and Asia. In 300, North Africa was the only area that traded
with the Mediterranean. In the time of the gold salt trade, European venders and Islamic merchants
arrived in North Africa. North African merchants still traded even when Europeans started to shift the
balance of trade to the Americas starting from the mid 1400s. This is how trade systems between
Africa and Europe stayed the same between the years 300 1450.
The changes that took place regarding trade between 300 1450 impact other parts of history. One
effect of the occurrence of trade in this region was the

[...] Significant Form is the one quality common to all works of visual art.
Significant form is substituted for beauty for two reasons. First, beauty reduces to a universal,
excluding its use as a standard. If beauty can be an objective standard, then it also must be particular,
in that it can be known. If beauty is understood as an underlying principle, or essence of art that
evokes aesthetic emotion where essence is defined by what it is said to be in respect of itself then
absent of the predications that describe beauty, such as the accuracy of representation, technical skill,
or impressive form, all that remains is beauty evidently. Secondly, people are apt to use beauty to
predicate a subject absent of the aesthetic emotion that its presence evokes. Therefore, any system of
aesthetics which pretends to be based on some objective truth is palpably ridiculous ... . Using the
framework formerly established, in conjunction with analysis from Clive Bell, John Hospers, Kakuzo

The Evolution Of Advertising And Advertising
The Evolution of Advertising
THE EVOLUTION OF ADVERTISING
Advertisements are a huge part of our everyday lives. We see different types of ads everywhere we
look; while watching television, listening to the radio, riding on the bus and even walking around your
school campus. It seems like the whole world is being flooded by advertisements.
Advertising techniques have changed and along with it, the impact they have on each individual s
mind. While there are some similarities between the different kinds of advertisements we see today,
there are also many differences. Advertising has also become more unethical than it was in, let s say,
the 50s. Not all advertisements are brainless; there are a few that are even creative and fun and just
pull the target audience in by entertaining them while selling them a product.
The techniques companies use to sell their products have changed so much in the past 50 years. Every
company has to adapt to the changing times. An example of this is that in the 1950s, companies had to
find a way to appeal mostly to stay at home wives because they were the ones who were home all day
listening to the radio while doing chores or watching the commercials between their soaps. In the
1970s advertisements had to change and find some way to appeal to an increasing amount of feminists
while alluring homemakers also. They have to go along with the changes. In 1994, a new form of
advertising and getting products and services into the world was discovered:

The Influence Of The Hippie Subculture

Born from the social turmoil, and the differing opinions of people during the Vietnam War. The Hippie
movement first gained traction in American Colleges and Universities. These young adults during the
1950s, are considered to be the very first pioneers of the hippie subculture. Through the youths
rebellious nature against the main ideals of society, and the growing popularity of the hippie
subculture, hippies, through the 50s up until the 80s, have managed to cultivate and solidify a new

No doubt, John Lennon wrote this song under the influence of the hippie subculture. This song helped
bring awareness to the public and teenagers alike, about the values of the Hippies. Another influential
song of the Hippie era is Fortunate Son by the group Creedence Clearwater Revival. This song is a
protest against the United States involvement in the Vietnam war, as the Hippies saw that the US
Army s involvement in the war as a mistake. Fortunate Son addresses the issue of the discriminating
way the government used forced conscription to recruit new soldiers as they forced the poor
population to fight much more often than people who held more political power. As much as fifty five
percent of the fighting force belonged in the working class. The message this song sends, closely
associates with the Hippie subculture view of the vietnam war. This song, also being very popular to
the teenage population, inspired teenagers to rebel against the government and societal norm, causing
teenagers to become more aware of the Hippie subculture (since rebelling against societal norms was
one of their underlying ethics.) One more artist who contributed to the change of impression in
teenagers is Buffalo Springfield. For what it s worth is another protest song written in 1966. Although

Puppies For Dog Research Paper
If you want to your dog to have puppies, make sure you follow the tips below in order to ensure that
your dog is healthy and ready for the task of being a mother to a litter of puppies.
Make Sure Your Dog Is Old Enough
The first thing you need to do is keep your dog inside and way from male dogs during its first couple
of cycles. You do not want your dog to become pregnant when it is still a puppy itself. You want your
dog to be strong enough and old enough to take care of its litter on its own.
Make Sure Your Dog Has All Its Vaccinations
Just like with humans, your dog will pass any immunities it has built up onto its puppies. Your dog
will pass on that immunity to her puppies through her milk. Additionally, being fully vaccinated will
protect your dog against diseases while it is pregnant and will help ensure that your dog has a healthy

4 Geologic setting
The delta complex in the Niger Delta developed as arcuate lobate buildups across the Anambra Basin
and Cross River margins protruding to the late Cretaceous continental margin into the deep ocean
while developing a thick sedimentary apron and salient petroleum system elements
(www.indigopool.com).
The opening of the Atlantic ocean and the separation of the African continent from the South
American plate lead to the deposition of thick successions of sedimentary deposits at the continental
margin and southwards onto the oceanic crust as it was cooling (Solomon et al 2007).
The Miocene aged reservoirs within the Bonga field reside in a large anticlinal structure about
230Km2 wide where they tend to trend seaward away from the continent in a south to south west
direction (Fig 3) (Swinburn et al 2002). Fig 3: Geologic setting of the Bonga field modified from

A Brief Note On Trading Strategy
Trading Strategy
As a portfolio Manager, my goal was to increase the portfolio value using a trading strategy that
combines speculation and diversification (Refer figure 1 in the appendix). As a speculator, I would be
betting on the movement of the underlying asset therefore, it was essential that I diversify my holdings
to minimize the exposure. A diversified portfolio would provide certain protection against the
downside risk if I bet wrong on the price movement. The types of vehicle I invested in were Futures
contract and Stocks. Again, the goal was to diversify within both vehicle types to protect against the
exposure (Refer figure 2 and 3).

unique properties it has become a popular trading asset. It is largely used in the auto industry and auto

Platinum is also great investing option and it is cheaper than gold.

Comparing Bachelor s Degrees
Several consistent messages emerge from looking at the wages of graduates across institutions. One is
that graduates first year earnings range widely. In all five states, at least $18,000 separates the schools
where bachelor s graduates earn the most from schools where graduates earned the least during their
first year on the job. The difference between master s graduates from different institutions ranges from
more than $10,000 in Arkansas to more than $40,000 in Tennessee and Texas. At the master s level,
across the states, graduates with degrees in mechanical engineering, computer/information sciences,
and mathematics are the highest paid, with chemistry graduates also earning more than graduates from
the remaining fields. In Texas, where

My Thoughts On The Fear Of Heights
I can hear the sound of my repeating alarm as it starts fading in louder into my ears, waiting for it to
be turned off. I slowly open my eyes to see the light from outside peeking in through my window
blinds hinting to me that it is now morning. I stretch my arms and legs as much as I can, feeling as if I
am the rope in the game of tug of war and two people are pulling me from opposite sides. I can sense
the excitement in my heart of what I am going to do today something that I have never, but always,
wanted to do. I already imagine how I will feel after today: the adrenaline rush, the overwhelming
confidence, the satisfaction. Today, I am going to cliff jump for the first time; today, I will conquer my
fear of heights; today, I promise that this decision is immutable. I shut off all five of my alarms and
look at the time on my phone; it is 9:30 a.m. I text my friends, waiting for them to pick me up.
Meanwhile, I wash up and get ready for a day that I will remember. The sound of my phone
obnoxiously goes off and I rush over to pick up the call from my friend, Johnny, telling me to hurry up
and come out the house. I scan my room one last time, check my bag, making sure I have everything I
need and head out the door. I open the car door and see my other friends, Brian, Rachel, and Moses, as
they greet me with a hello. Heading over to Abalone Cove, a popular cliff jumping place and tide
pools area, I roll down the window to smell the fresh, So Cal weather and to feel the wind

Pathophysiology Of Fibromyalgia
This disorders pathophysiology manifest itself in a number of ways. These problems are related to
central nervous system, genetics, psychological and environmental stress. Many times fibromyalgia
will be present along with other identifiable disorders like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and irritable
bowel syndrome. This can make diagnosis more complicated. Individuals experience a significantly
higher sensitivity to pain sensations than a healthy person. Simply touching the skin of someone with
fibromyalgia can cause great discomfort. The pathology seems to be low levels of norepinephrine and
serotonin which typically act in the body as messengers to the brain to prevent pain. Fibromyalgia
patients produce an abnormal amount of the stress hormone cortisol which adds to the pain felt. Sleep
can be a problem as well, as a result, the sufferer in not capable of receiving the common restorative
actions that a good night s sleep can provide. It is more common for a person whose parent has
fibromyalgia to get it themselves. The exact genes involved with this genetic inheritance have not

The Life and Work of David Sedaris
David Sedaris has been compared to some of the greatest names in American Literature, including
Mark Twain, Dorothy Parker and James Thurber (Moredock). Not surprisingly, all of the
aforementioned authors captivated audiences with their sarcasm, wit, and humor three characteristics
that are indicative of Sedaris s writing in general. Sedaris has made a career as an author and recording
artist (having broadcast and recorded his works of literature numerous times) who finds insight and
points of laughter in the ordinary nuances of life. Most of his articles are autobiographical in nature, or
at least involve him as one of the principle characters in them. His 2004 book, Dress Your Family in
Corduroy and Denim, is quite typical in this respect. An analysis of a pair of articles in this
manuscript, Us and Them and The Girl Next Door , illustrates the author s propensity for detailing
some of the more humorous aspects of non traditional American families.
Sedaris was born in 1956, and spent part of his formative years living in upstate New York. His family
would soon move down south to North Carolina in the early 1960 s, exposing the fledgling author to
some semblance of city life. By his own accounts, his tenure in New York was spent in an exceedingly
rural location, which contrasted sharply with his surroundings in North Carolina. The unconventional
wit and humor (Burroughs) that the author displays in his writings more than likely descended, in part,
from his unusual

Organizational Leadership and Change Essay
Organizational Leadership and Change
Management and leadership are viewed as two different perspectives in the business environment. As
described by Dr. Warren Bennis Managers are people who do things right, while leaders are people
who do the right thing , this means that managers do things by the set rules and follow company
policy, while leaders follow their own intuition, which may in turn be of more benefit to the company.
Reviewing this chapter as whole, I noticed that there is no fixed approach mentioned towards a
leadership style, rather it suggests that range of different leadership style must be adapted based on the
situation. Furthermore, I found out that this chapter lacked some useful information which should

Certainly, there are several reasons why people don t like to undergo a change situation. Firstly, some
people are more concerned about the implications of change to themselves rather than thinking of the
benefits it could bring for the company for example, I feel more comfortable working where there is
more interaction with customers rather than working inside the office. Secondly, it somewhat also
depends on the individual s level of tolerance to change; some people feel more secured and satisfied
with current working environment. Furthermore, there might be inadequate information about the
benefits a change can bring in to them and the organization. Therefore employees are usually hesitant
of undergoing a change situation. However, chapter 6 of Organizational Change looks into how we
can minimise resistance to change in an organization which is described as Kotter s theory. Kotter
suggested six strategies for overcoming resistance to change:
1: Increase urgency motivate and inspire people to move, make objectives real and appealing for them.
This is most important factor because without creating an urgency, you cannot motivate your
employees and the desired goal cannot be met.
2: Build the guiding team building a group of dedicated supporters to create necessity and desire for

Analysis of crime scene. A deceased female was found in her home on Monday, June 2nd. The victim
was found bound to the bed and stabbed 13 times and semen was found. I will provide theories and
explanations of each to help suggest why the perpetrator committed this crime.
The Offender
The husband is the potential suspect. He had the perfect alibi, he was out of town and no one would
suspect him of committing the crime. He knew his wife would be home from work that day. He knew
her routine and carefully planned when he would commit the murder. Nothing was stolen from the

husband. He knew the layout of the home, because he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A person s criminal activity can begin later in life and driving forces are swayed by various life
circumstances.
This theory includes different classes and types of criminals. It is a combination of latent trait theory
and life course theory which helps explain that there are different paths and classes of offenders. The
external force, in this case, a mistress, would be the trajectory. Working in combination with his bad
temper, arousal theory influenced the criminal behavior. This theory might not fully support his
motives if he didn t have a mistress or seeking financial gain. If no outside forces compelled him to
murder his wife then this theory won t apply.
Arousal Theory
This theory combines genetic and environmental reasons as to the reasons how a brain processes
environmental stimulation differently, the response varies for each person. His inability to control
anger combined with his desire to be with another woman, and a possible sizeable financial gain,
influenced intentions. He had deep seated resentment towards his wife and the tension was building
over a period of time. He was obviously unhappy yet kept it hidden. He possibly had frequent anger
episodes. I believe that when he initially tried to stab her and failed to kill her, he exploded and

recognized a constitutional right to abortion a legal liberty under a clause in the Fourteen Amendment.

The two sides of this case were the plaintiffs, who were five abortion clinics and doctors who
provided abortion services, and the defendant, which was the state of Pennsylvania. The plaintiffs
filed suit to have the state declare the five provisions unconstitutional. During the appeal in the Third
Circuit Court, the court upheld all but the husband notification requirement.
Casey is a divided judgement because none of the Justices opinions were joined by a majority of
Justices. However, the plurality decision, which was written by Justices Souter, O Connor, and
Kennedy, is accepted a the lead opinion because each of its parts were agreed with by at least two
other Justices , although different ones for each part. The plurality opinion overturned the strict
trimester formula previously used in Roe vs. Wade which then made it a shorter time period before the
State s interest in the fetus outweighed the woman s interest to abort. The plurality opinion also got rid
of the husband notification requirement, saying that it would worsen situations of spousal abuse
because it would give husbands too much power over their wives.
William Rehnquist, Byron White, Harry Blackmun, John Paul Stevens, Antonin Scalia, and Clarence
Thomas those who were not included in the plurality decision wrote or joined opinions in which they
partially concurred and partially dissented from the decision.

Many studies have been made in the field of criminology, concluding that profiling is a necessary
means for discovering and apprehending criminals. There are many different types of profiling and
many people think of profiling differently; however, all types of profiling does work and is proven to

What exactly is profiling is what many people wonder and they don t always get the right definition.
What they usually think first is that it is racial profiling and it is bad, we should not do it, but that s
only one type of profiling and it is not necessarily bad in all cases. The Merriam Webster dictionary
defines it as, the act of or process of learning information about someone based on what you already
know. Under the narrow definition, racial profiling occurs when a police officer stops, questions,
arrests, and/or searches someone solely on the basis of the person s race or ethnicity. Critics typically
use this definition when condemning racial profiling, as do law enforcement agencies when denying
the existence of racial profiling (Cleary). Most people think that the profiling is a bad thing because of
controversial topics like NYC s stop and frisk policy and from what the liberal news puts out. But in
most cases profiling is good for communities and helps to catch criminals before they can do harm.
The main difference between what people think and what profiling is comes down to two words
disparity and discrimination.
Disparity and discrimination are closely related but there is one major difference between them that
sets them far apart. Disparity is

Example Of A Discourse Community
Since the dawn of time that humans have reigned around the world, they have formed groups or
communities that share common goals or interest. John Swales (1990), a respectable professor of
linguistics at the University of Michigan, developed a list of characteristics to determine communities
or, as he calls it, a discourse community. He identifies these characteristics as all the discourse
communities has agreed upon common goals, mechanisms of intercommunication among its
members, provide information and feedback, possess one or more genres of communication,
distinguish vocabulary or lexis, and requirement for memberships (Swales, 1990, p. 1 5). The
International Game Developers Association (IGDA), falls into the category as a discourse community.
Founded in 1994, IGDA is a non profit professional association that collaborates with projects that

Due to Viola s early established courage and talent, she successfully plays the role of Romeo. This

Finding the Composition of Limestone
Intro: Limestone is made from loose marine sediment (such as shells) that form into rock, but can also
come from dissolved calcium carbonate. When an acid is added to limestone it releases carbon
dioxide. This happens in a two step process. Step 1: CaCO3(s) 2HCl(aq) → CaCl2(aq) H2CO3(aq)
Step 2: H2CO3(aq) → CO2(g) H2O(l) The next reaction used is CaCl2(aq) (NH4)2SO4(aq) →
CaSO4(s) 2NH4Cl(aq). This is quantifying the calcium carbonate by finding out the amount calcium
ion is present. Mass Percent Composition is trying to find the amount present of a specific component

Discrimination of a woman in society is still remarkable in spite of the fact that there are organizations

that a woman is differing than a man?

believe that man and woman was born differently as the study of biology was proven that male and

Trader Joes had a plan to achieve their goals as a flourishing company. Gardiner also says, A great
cultural brand is built one interaction at a time. So the more encounters between customers and
employees, the better (Gierasimczuk, 2012). With this theory comes hiring more people and being
more engaging. That means paying a little bit more to hire staff with better than average social skills.
A goal commitment is the determination to achieve a goal. Gardiner states, A great brand advertising
campaign can make new customers flock to your store or try your product for the first time; but no
matter how brilliant your ad is, if the customer s direct experience sucks, you suck; In fact, the higher
you raise customer expectations, the worse you suck; Focus on the customer experience.
(Gierasimczuk, 2012). Value number six is what Trader Joe s does not do, elaborate budgeting. Stores
develop individual budget plans, based on their local marketplace and product array; the corporation

Compare And Contrast Natural Vs Anthropogenic Climate Change
Compare and contrast natural versus anthropogenic climate changes. Include at least two (2) specific
examples of each.
Anthropogenic temperature change refers to the assembly of greenhouse gases emitted by human
action. By examining the polar ice cores, scientists are convinced that human action has inflated the
proportion of greenhouse gases within the atmosphere, that has skyrocketed over the past few hundred
years. (Climate Science Investigation, 2018)
The IPCC, Fourth Report discusses in 2007 has multiple lines of proof that confirms that the post
industrial rise in greenhouse gases doesn t stem from natural mechanisms. In other words, the climate
changes are manmade as a results of human action. (Climate Science Investigation, 2018) ... Show

$2.50 over the next year. The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) composite has gone down 8% over
the last year, with a dividend yield of 3%. HeavyTech Inc. has a tax rate of 40%. a. What is the
expected return on HeavyTech over the next year? b. What would you expect HeavyTech s price to be
one year from today? c. What would you have expected HeavyTech s stock returns to be over the last
year? d. What were the actual returns on HeavyTech over the last year? e. HeavyTech has $100
million in equity and $50 million in debt. It plans to issue $50 million in new equity and retire $50
million in debt. Estimate the new beta. a. Using the CAPM, we compute the expected return as 0.03 +
1.2(0.0792) = 12.5%. We use a T‐bill rate, because the focus is on the short‐term expected return (the
next year). For the same reason, we use the market premium over bills. b. The cum‐dividend price,
one year from now, would be $50 *(1 + 12.50%) = $56.25. The ex dividend price, assuming that the
stock price goes down by the amount of the dividend is $56.25 $2.50 = $53.75. c. Over last year, the
expected return would have been 0.05+1.2*0.0792=14.5%.

For my experience at the Logic concert, I initially felt bias because I spent 300 dollars on these tickets
when it was supposed to be in Lawrence, but it got moved to Uptown Theatre, and I could have
bought them all for 90 dollars. After the concert, I would have paid even more for these tickets. It was
my first Logic concert, but it won t be my last, this concert set the bar high, and did not disappoint.

The Toys R Us LBO
Background
Toys R Us, Inc. is the world s leading dedicated toy and juvenile products retailer. As of January 29,
2005, it operated 1,499 retail stores worldwide and generated 11.1 billion in revenue. However, that s
a decrease of 1.9 percent from a year ago. Toys R Us has suffered from both downstream demand and
increased competition from mass/discount channel such as Wal Mart and Target. A group of private
equity investors intends to do a leverage buyout of Toys R Us. They want to determine the risks and
merits of an investment in Toys R Us, evaluate the spectrum of returns using multiple operating model
scenarios, and identify strategic actions that might be undertaken to improve the risk/return profile ...

Retailing the right product at the right season, like outdoor games in the spring, is important to
maximize sales. The continual display and presentation of new toys, games and crafts will attract
customers and generate higher sales. Looking into expanding operations and product lines towards
video games and other growth segments (e.g. Building sets and action figures). Building up a well
designed online marketing channel can promote efficiency and cost savings. Expanding the
international market to avoid the intense competition in the U.S. Retail Toy Industry. Closing
underperforming stores to improve liquidity through the expertise of Vornado Realty Trust and
reinvest the money back into the operation.
Approach
In the base case, we assumed 11.0% compounded annual growth rate. This is based on modest growth
in domestic sales, and optimistic expectations for the international, Babies R Us, and online sales.
Online sales can save relevant costs of physical display of products and associated costs of running a
store. EBITDA margin is assumed higher and will be higher in the near future as the sales grow.
Capital expenditure and depreciation amortization expenses are assumed fairly constant over the years
. Overall operation will generate enough cash to support debt and interest payments. If Toys R Us

Introduction
Utilitarianism, deontological, and virtue theory ethics are three normative approaches to ethics. This
paper will go over the similarities and differences between virtue theory, utilitarianism, and
deontological principles. It will include information of the variations in how each concept details
ethics, morality, and it will also discuss a personal experience to describe the correlation between
virtue, values, and moral perceptions as they relate to one of the three theories.
Similarities and Differences
Virtue theory emphasizes character traits rather than the rules or consequences while deontology is
described as an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Virtue ethics focuses on the benefits, or ethical personality, whereas deontology focuses on
responsibilities or guidelines. Utilitarianism focuses on the repercussions of activities. Virtue ethics is
also called agent based or personality ethics. When using the quality principles approach, one should
take the point of view that in living their lifestyle they should try growing quality in all that they do
(Boylan, Chapter 11, 2009). Utilitarianism is a way of consequentialism; significance that the ethical
worth of an activity is established by its results. Utilitarianism indicates that an activity is fairly right
when that activity generates more total application for the group than any other alternative (Boylan,
Chapter 12, 2009). Deontological principles mostly judge the activity, depending on the action s
sticking with a concept or guidelines. This principle uses guidelines and responsibilities to determine
what is right. Deontology preserves the wrongness of activities in the kind of activity that it is, rather
than the repercussions it triggers.
Personal Experience
The fundamental principle of the military is a typical representation of utilitarianism. From when one
takes the oath of enlistment to the final day of active duty, the Navy instills the importance of virtues,
values, and the correct moral actions. The virtue of the Navy is characteristic to an all volunteer

Campin s Painting Comparison
Both paintings focus around the same subject, Mary receiveing the news that she will be carrying
Jesus by the Archangel Gabriel. Angelico s painting is a very large fresco. The painting is so large that
Mary and Gabriel are almost life size. In comparison, Campin s painting is a triptych that is small and
a portable oil painting. This portability brings us into a new era, where people want this type of art in
their homes versus only being able to view them in a church. The left panel allows us to see the donors
being nosey, the middle panel is the scene of the annunciation, and the right panel gives us a look at
Joseph working. Both paintings have reflective qualities. In Angelico s painting Gabriel s wings are
reflective. He would have had to use a mineral to create the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Angelico keeps his painting very simplistic with no flash or Christian symbolism in it. Many think that
it is because of the location of the painting in a church. The area surrounding Gabriel and Mary is bare
and flat. The focus is strictly on Mary and Garbriel who are technically to large spacially. They would
not be able to move around in the area because of their size. Campin has created a piece that is full of
Christian symbolism. The flowers on the table, the tools that Joseph uses, and baby Jesus floating in
on sun rays heading toward Mary s womb are just a few examples. While Angelico kept his
background simple and plan, Campin uses a background that makes the painting relatable for the
viewer of that time. Campin uses a home that would have been modern and pays specific details to the
surroundings. The textures and amount of detail that Campin puts into his painting make it feel plush
and full of life. The candle stick, the vase, the wooden table and the surrounding wooden pieces in
Joseph s shop all show us the texture of the material. It almost makes you want to reach out and

Shakespeare s Conspiracy Theories
Sometimes there are holes in the understanding and knowledge we have of things. To help us
understand, we try and patch those holes with what are called conspiracy theories. William
Shakespeare s life is one big quilt filled with holes. People all over the world have come up with
conspiracy theories to try and fill these gaps in his life. Some are made with educated guesses while
others are just wild theories made by people who just happened to stumbleupon William Shakespeare.
The different theories people have fabricated has caused a major controversy over the authorship of
William Shakespeare s famous plays.
With the few surviving documents we have, we can see small glimpses into the life of William
Shakspeare. All that we know about Shakespeare s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Various group theories of Shakespearean authorship were proposed as early as the mid 19th century.
The first published book focused entirely on the authorship debate was The Philosophy of the Plays of
Shakespeare Unfolded, by Delia Bacon. In 1856 Delia Bacon, another American, wrote an article to
support this theory and attributed the authorship to a group of people who were overseen by Sir
Francis Bacon and Sir Walter Raleigh. [3] The group was made up of a bunch politicians and included
Edmund Spenser, Lord Buckhurst, and Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford. A group theory was also
described in Gilbert Slater s The Seven Shakespeares, written in 1931 in which he theorised that the
works were written by seven different authors: Francis Bacon, Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford,
Sir Walter Raleigh, William Stanley, 6th Earl of Derby, Christopher Marlowe, Mary Sidney, Countess
of Pembroke, and Roger Manners, 5th Earl of Rutland.[4] In the early 1960s, A theory was composed
that Edward de Vere, Francis Bacon, Roger Manners, William Herbert and Mary Sidney made up a
group called The Oxford Syndicate .[4] As the simpler theories are created people try and build off of
them creating hundreds of theories for every one theory we have. An example of this is people have
made variants of the group theories

Starting namely with keeping the prisoners with longer sentences updated on relevant technology and social, political, and legal changes so they know how to operate and function in a modern society upon release. Another essential part of preparing offenders for reentry would be providing housing upon release for all those who are unable to afford housing or do not have housing that does not violate probation requirements. Secondly, training offenders valuable life skills while imprisoned should heighten their chance for success upon release. Continuing programs that allow offenders to obtain ... It can be run by both hired and volunteered help to decrease costs. This program should also be geared toward those who are at a mid to high risk of reoffending. To be sure it is effective it should be between 100 to 150 hours of work for those at a moderate risk of reoffending and at least 200 hours for those at a high risk (Latessa 31). This program can be evaluated by in a couple of different areas. The most important area of evaluation being the ability to compare the recidivism rates from previous years to the years following the implementation of the program. It can also be evaluated by looking at the degree of success past offenders achieve after being released from prison; the job retention they hold. Another form of evaluation available is by looking at the number of participants in the program compared to each prison s population as well as the number of those who complete it after entering ... • 3. Examples Of Hegemonic Masculinity Writing Assignment 5 In gender studies, hegemonic masculinity is the norms and values upheld as an ideal for all males. The concept of hegemonic masculinity was proposed first from a field study in Australian high schools of social inequality by Kessler. (Kessler et al. 1982) The concept was later made popular by sociologist R.W. Connell. All men are upheld to the image of being the strongest and most aggressive, and to hold the power over women and other men. What do males have that lead them to commit more crime? That question has been noted for years, but no one can pinpoint the exact answer. Some sociologist denote masculinity to the answer of the previous question. Because Beckham is a globally recognized, the commercial does not need to add his athletic ability, financial statues, and wife to gain audience viewers. By being married, Beckham is observed to be a real man. Placing someone like Beckham in a Super Bowl commercial, unlike an ordinary man, bring a whole new meaning to today s society. An eye opening example of movies that display hegemonic masculinity are Disney movies. Considering the male roles in The Lion King, Beauty in the Beast, and the Little Mermaid, the male roles have always come to the rescue to save the princess. His unmatched style and prose set him apart from all others. Vonnegut describes real situations and works through difficulties in his own life by writing, as weird and odd as his books are. In Slaughterhouse Five, Vonnegut describes some of his personal experiences along with mixing in science fiction to get his points and ideas across. In writing this book, Vonnegut intended to describe the true horrors of war and how they affect a person s mind. He is saying that everyone sees things differently and interprets everything in a unique way. Slaughterhouse Five included elements of postmodernism, realism, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Modernism is where everything has a deep, sometimes metaphorical meaning. Modernism also believes that all problems can be solved with new inventions and innovations, along with a truth that can be searched for and found if you persist in pursuing the truth. There is really no meaning behind much of Slaughterhouse Five, and there definitely is no truth in the book to be found. This is evidenced in many points in the book, like one where Billy looked down the street, saw a new Buick... He closed his eyes, and opened them again. He was still weeping, but he was back in Luxembourg again. (Vonnegut 63). This passage, talking about Billy traveling back in time to World War II, refers to the lack of meaning of time in the book. The book jumps around in time and continually just talks about random events that relate to Billy Pilgrim. The book also debunks the Modernist idea that all problems can be solved with new inventions. Responding to Billy s question about how the Universe ends, the Tralfamadorians reply We blow it up, experimenting with new fuels for our flying saucers. (117 ). This is a direct blow to Modernism, stating how new inventions are not for the best or necessarily useful. The book also goes against the Modernist idea of the American dream, with Billy Pilgrim just wanting to be left alone. He achieves what many would describe as the American dream, but does not want that. He would rather be left ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Between Socialism And Communism As the cultural Marxist ideology used by liberals in the United States today originates from Europe, understanding what politicians represent will go some way to avoiding further American decline, the slide into a police state and the belief that Obama is a Messiah. The coming 2016 election is arguably the most important ever held. Consequences from the results decide the future of the United States and in which direction it will shift, towards European liberal fascism and equality based Human Rights, alternatively, a return to the constitution. Not understanding leads to an inability to explain the difference between socialism and communism, or equality as an abstract. The well fed social justice warriors of today have replaced the poverty class revolutionaries of yesteryear, with cultural Marxism, explained in an American context. The aims remain radical and utopic, as do the politicians behind the agenda. Failure to understand European ideologies is why Bernie Sanders, posing as a Democrat, but a lifelong Maoist, can pass himself off as a socialist in the Democrat party. The disguise is what allows former Alinsky radical, Hillary Clinton, a multimillionaire progressive, to run as a Democrat. The key to understanding ideologies therefore, lies in viewing politics as circular, not linear, with the centre at the top and the right and left of extremism meeting at the bottom. The choice is the Gestapo or KGB, concentration camps or slave labour camps and all ending without ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Analysis Of The Philosophical Views Of The Other Presented... Assignment: Final Paper the Other Nancy Barahona National University Philosophy 337 August 1, 2015 Professor Martin Gomez In looking at the philosophical views of the Other presented by Emmanuel Levinas we will consider whether we act strictly for the good of others without investing any self interest in what we do or do we do what we desire most at the end of the day; however, we will find many of our daily interactions including working, caring for another and just basic interactions are all done in self interest not in the interest of the Other. According to Rosenstand (2013) Levinas explains the Other as a term seen in philosophy about a person who is different from oneself; it is when one is facing something or someone that one is fundamentally unfamiliar with. (Rosenstand, 2013, p. 82) He goes onto explain that this stranger can be a person of a different sex or race or even someone who has different experiences than oneself. Levinas sees the bottom line of all human existence as the encounter with the Other. (Rosenstand, 2013, p. 513) When people meet people they will more often than not meet someone who is different from them. They will be a different color. A different sex. A different social class. It will be someone who has grown up in a different environment than them. And instinct will set in and one will try to change the Other; they will perceive that they are helping the Other but really they are helping themselves. One person will ... Ryals Writing 1 November 14, 2012 Socrates Stand on Democracy Having emphasized upon me the advantages of democracy, I have always believed that it is the best system to implement in a country. Ignoring the flaws and weaknesses of this type of system, I thought that the benefits outweigh all costs. I assume that giving the power to the people is better than having one person rule the state. However, in Plato s account on the life of his mentor Socrates, we are able to see both sides of the spectrum: the pros and cons of democracy which are accounted in Plato s dialogues, the Apology and the Crito. He believes that he would have died long ago (34), although this is not his ultimate concern. What he truly cares about is not to do anything unjust or impious (32). Despite his criticisms on politics, Socrates is essentially reminding the people, especially those in authority, to serve a just and virtuous life. Outwardly stating the current situation of the government, he aims to provide the people a portrait of the shallow kind of democracy that they have come to maintain. Socrates seeks to prompt the majority to uphold the true sense of democracy, of fighting for justice and living life accordingly. Furthermore, Socrates uses his dialectical approach with his friend Crito in examining the contrast between the knowledge of the one and the pseudo knowledge of the many . He uses an analogy of a man involved in physical activities, whom must listen to the advice of the true expert in his training, rather than the opinions thrown by other people who barely know anything about these activities. Anyone who places a higher regard to the thoughts of the majority, rather than to the knowledge of the one who possess it, puts himself on greater harm (47). If beauty is understood as an underlying principle, or essence of art that evokes aesthetic emotion where essence is defined by what it is said to be in respect of itself then absent of the predications that describe beauty, such as the accuracy of representation, technical skill, or impressive form, all that remains is beauty evidently. We see different types of ads everywhere we look; while watching television, listening to the radio, riding on the bus and even walking around your school campus. It seems like the whole world is being flooded by advertisements. Advertising techniques have changed and along with it, the impact they have on each individual s mind. While there are some similarities between the different kinds of advertisements we see today, there are also many differences. Advertising has also become more unethical than it was in, let s say, the 50s. Not all advertisements are brainless; there are a few that are even creative and fun and just pull the target audience in by entertaining them while selling them a product. The techniques companies use to sell their products have changed so much in the past 50 years. Every company has to adapt to the changing times. An example of this is that in the 1950s, companies had to find a way to appeal mostly to stay at home wives because they were the ones who were home all day listening to the radio while doing chores or watching the commercials between their soaps. In the 1970s advertisements had to change and find some way to appeal to an increasing amount of feminists while alluring homemakers also. They have to go along with the changes. I slowly open my eyes to see the light from outside peeking in through my window blinds hinting to me that it is now morning. I stretch my arms and legs as much as I can, feeling as if I am the rope in the game of tug of war and two people are pulling me from opposite sides. I can sense the excitement in my heart of what I am going to do today something that I have never, but always, wanted to do. I already imagine how I will feel after today: the adrenaline rush, the overwhelming confidence, the satisfaction. Today, I am going to cliff jump for the first time; today, I will conquer my fear of heights; today, I promise that this decision is immutable. I shut off all five of my alarms and look at the time on my phone; it is 9:30 a.m. I text my friends, waiting for them to pick me up. Meanwhile, I wash up and get ready for a day that I will remember. The sound of my phone obnoxiously goes off and I rush over to pick up the call from my friend, Johnny, telling me to hurry up and come out the house. I scan my room one last time, check my bag, making sure I have everything I need and head out the door. I open the car door and see my other friends, Brian, Rachel, and Moses, as they greet me with a hello. These problems are related to central nervous system, genetics, psychological and environmental stress. Many times fibromyalgia will be present along with other identifiable disorders like rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and irritable bowel syndrome. This can make diagnosis more complicated. Individuals experience a significantly higher sensitivity to pain sensations than a healthy person. Simply touching the skin of someone with fibromyalgia can cause great discomfort. • 26. The Life and Work of David Sedaris David Sedaris has been compared to some of the greatest names in American Literature, including Mark Twain, Dorothy Parker and James Thurber (Moredock). Not surprisingly, all of the aforementioned authors captivated audiences with their sarcasm, wit, and humor three characteristics that are indicative of Sedaris s writing in general. Sedaris has made a career as an author and recording artist (having broadcast and recorded his works of literature numerous times) who finds insight and points of laughter in the ordinary nuances of life. Most of his articles are autobiographical in nature, or at least involve him as one of the principle characters in them. His 2004 book, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, is quite typical in this respect. An analysis of a pair of articles in this manuscript, Us and Them and The Girl Next Door , illustrates the author s propensity for detailing some of the more humorous aspects of non traditional American families. Sedaris was born in 1956, and spent part of his formative years living in upstate New York. His family would soon move down south to North Carolina in the early 1960 s, exposing the fledgling author to some semblance of city life. By his own accounts, his tenure in New York was spent in an exceedingly rural location, which contrasted sharply with his surroundings in North Carolina. The unconventional wit and humor (Burroughs) that the author displays in his writings more than likely descended, in part, from his unusual ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Certainly, there are several reasons why people don t like to undergo a change situation. Firstly, some people are more concerned about the implications of change to themselves rather than thinking of the benefits it could bring for the company for example, I feel more comfortable working where there is more interaction with customers rather than working inside the office. Secondly, it somewhat also depends on the individual s level of tolerance to change; some people feel more secured and satisfied with current working environment. Furthermore, there might be inadequate information about the benefits a change can bring in to them and the organization. Therefore employees are usually hesitant of undergoing a change situation. However, chapter 6 of Organizational Change looks into how we can minimise resistance to change in an organization which is described as Kotter s theory. Kotter suggested six strategies for overcoming resistance to change: 1: Increase urgency motivate and inspire people to move, make objectives real and appealing for them. This is most important factor because without creating an urgency, you cannot motivate your employees and the desired goal cannot be met. 2: Build the guiding team building a group of dedicated supporters to create necessity and desire for ... The Merriam Webster dictionary defines it as, the act of or process of learning information about someone based on what you already know. Under the narrow definition, racial profiling occurs when a police officer stops, questions, arrests, and/or searches someone solely on the basis of the person s race or ethnicity. Critics typically use this definition when condemning racial profiling, as do law enforcement agencies when denying the existence of racial profiling (Cleary). Calcium Carbonate Formation Sam Wylie Karly Kindoll Winter Dean CHE 111 028 9/25/17 Finding the Composition of Limestone Intro: Limestone is made from loose marine sediment (such as shells) that form into rock, but can also come from dissolved calcium carbonate. When an acid is added to limestone it releases carbon dioxide. This happens in a two step process. Step 1: CaCO3(s) 2HCl(aq) → CaCl2(aq) H2CO3(aq) Step 2: H2CO3(aq) → CO2(g) H2O(l) The next reaction used is CaCl2(aq) (NH4)2SO4(aq) → CaSO4(s) 2NH4Cl(aq). Virtue ethics focuses on the benefits, or ethical personality, whereas deontology focuses on responsibilities or guidelines. Utilitarianism focuses on the repercussions of activities. Virtue ethics is also called agent based or personality ethics. When using the quality principles approach, one should take the point of view that in living their lifestyle they should try growing quality in all that they do (Boylan, Chapter 11, 2009). Utilitarianism is a way of consequentialism; significance that the ethical worth of an activity is established by its results. Utilitarianism indicates that an activity is fairly right when that activity generates more total application for the group than any other alternative (Boylan, Chapter 12, 2009). Deontological principles mostly judge the activity, depending on the action s sticking with a concept or guidelines. This principle uses guidelines and responsibilities to determine what is right. Deontology preserves the wrongness of activities in the kind of activity that it is, rather than the repercussions it triggers. Personal Experience The fundamental principle of the military is a typical representation of utilitarianism. From when one takes the oath of enlistment to the final day of active duty, the Navy instills the importance of virtues, values, and the correct moral actions. • 47. Campin s Painting Comparison Both paintings focus around the same subject, Mary receiveing the news that she will be carrying Jesus by the Archangel Gabriel. Angelico s painting is a very large fresco. The painting is so large that Mary and Gabriel are almost life size. In comparison, Campin s painting is a triptych that is small and a portable oil painting. This portability brings us into a new era, where people want this type of art in their homes versus only being able to view them in a church. The left panel allows us to see the donors being nosey, the middle panel is the scene of the annunciation, and the right panel gives us a look at Joseph working. Both paintings have reflective qualities. In Angelico s painting Gabriel s wings are reflective. He would have had to use a mineral to create the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Angelico keeps his painting very simplistic with no flash or Christian symbolism in it. Many think that it is because of the location of the painting in a church. The area surrounding Gabriel and Mary is bare and flat. The focus is strictly on Mary and Garbriel who are technically to large spacially. They would not be able to move around in the area because of their size. Campin has created a piece that is full of Christian symbolism. The flowers on the table, the tools that Joseph uses, and baby Jesus floating in on sun rays heading toward Mary s womb are just a few examples. While Angelico kept his background simple and plan, Campin uses a background that makes the painting relatable for the viewer of that time. Campin uses a home that would have been modern and pays specific details to the surroundings. The textures and amount of detail that Campin puts into his painting make it feel plush and full of life. The candle stick, the vase, the wooden table and the surrounding wooden pieces in Joseph s shop all show us the texture of the material. It almost makes you want to reach out and ... Various group theories of Shakespearean authorship were proposed as early as the mid 19th century. The first published book focused entirely on the authorship debate was The Philosophy of the Plays of Shakespeare Unfolded, by Delia Bacon. In 1856 Delia Bacon, another American, wrote an article to support this theory and attributed the authorship to a group of people who were overseen by Sir Francis Bacon and Sir Walter Raleigh. [3] The group was made up of a bunch politicians and included Edmund Spenser, Lord Buckhurst, and Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford. A group theory was also described in Gilbert Slater s The Seven Shakespeares, written in 1931 in which he theorised that the works were written by seven different authors: Francis Bacon, Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford, Sir Walter Raleigh, William Stanley, 6th Earl of Derby, Christopher Marlowe, Mary Sidney, Countess of Pembroke, and Roger Manners, 5th Earl of Rutland.[4] In the early 1960s, A theory was composed that Edward de Vere, Francis Bacon, Roger Manners, William Herbert and Mary Sidney made up a group called The Oxford Syndicate .[4] As the simpler theories are created people try and build off of them creating hundreds of theories for every one theory we have.
