Essay on Food Security in the Democratic Republic of Congo
Script for Geography
Good morning/afternoon
Today I will talk about food security in the Democratic Republic of Congo. DR Congo is an African
country that consists of over 2,300,000 square kilometres (Central Intelligence Agency (US), 2013).
The population in DR Congo is around seventy five and a half million people with an average life
expectancy of 56 years, a lot shorter than Australians (Central Intelligence Agency (US), 2013). The
religion consists of Roman Catholic, Protestant and Muslims plus some other smaller religions
(Central Intelligence Agency (US), 2013). The capital city is called Kinshasa, with other large cities
called Lubumbashi, Mbuji Mayi and Kananga (Central Intelligence Agency (US), 2013). The

In DR Congo there are two main agriculture regions, Plains of the east and the south and the eastern
highlands (The Washington Post Company, 2001). In the plains coffee beans, potatoes and leeks are
grown, while in the highlands tomatoes, sweet potatoes, yum and pumpkins are grow as the
temperatures are cool and there is more fertile soil (The Washington Post Company, 2001). DR Congo
is ranked 107th (the worst) in the world (Global Food Security Index, 2013). This ranking is produced
by the lack of food affordability, food availability and more importantly the quality and safety of the
food (Global Food Security Index, 2013). Every country, whether it s DR Congo or America, have
some strengths when it comes to food security. For DR Congo their strengths are agricultural import
tariffs (affordability), Volatility of agriculture production (availability), and nutritional standards
(quality and safety of food), just to name some (Global Food Security Index, 2013).
Some challenges that DR Congo face, in terms of food security, can be put in three sections as stated
before (Global Food Security Index, 2013). In the affordability section they have problems with
access to financing for farmers, Food consumption and the proportion of the population that are under
the poverty line (Global Food Security Index, 2013). In the next section, availability of food, they
have problems with corruption, agricultural infrastructure and

Personal Choices In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Imagine you go to a party and you meet your unexpected lover. You to fall in love and throughout
your journey the impulsive decisions you to make, makes your life complicated. Not only that but
imagine the bad decisions you two make resulted into both of you dying. In this drama/play Romeo
and Juliet fall in love. Of Course it wasn t one was a capulet and the other was a montague. To sum
up, enemy and enemy. Romeo and Juliet both make choices that complicates their relationship and
causing so much conflict in their life whereas they both kill themself in the end. In this drama,
personal choices have a greater impact on the characters than fate. Juliet wasn t clearly thinking when
she made the personal choice by wanting to kill herself. What if this mixture do not work at all? Juliet
then lies down the dagger. What if it be a poison which the friar subtly hath ministered to have me
dead (pg.258) Tybalt, stay! Romeo, I come! This do I drink to thee. (pg.259} She drinks and falls upon
her bed within the curtains. Juliet s love grew so strong for romeo she couldn t live without him. Re
thinking about this choice would ve made it so much easier. Love can make anyone do bizarre things.

The Theme Of Balance In Ursula Leguin s A Wizard Of Earthsea
The balance of light and dark has been off kilter forever and the balance has never been obtained! In
the fantasy novel A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula LeGuin, the battle of light and dark has subsided,
balance has been restored, and shows the journey of discovering one s identity. At the end of the
novel, when the shadow and Ged conjoin it can be seen as the realization of one s identity, as well the
discovering of balance. LeGuin uses symbols in the novel to convey what is happening on a deeper
level. At the beginning of the end, the sea turned into sand as Ged approached his shadow, which can
be seen as a balance, when two opposites, such as sea and sand, become one. It shows when two
opposites find a middle point and are at peace as opposed to constantly battering against one another.
This instance can also be seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Light and dark have been unbalanced, waging on since the beginning of time, until they find a balance
where each has met its match. When Ged, with his flaming white staff merges with the pitch black
shadow, and emerging as one may be seen as if they have made peace at a set point and created
equilibrium, as previously discussed by Yarrow and Ged. When this occurs, Ged finally becomes a
whole self by recognizing who he is, and his balance of positive and negative decisions .Also, in the
interaction between Ged and the shadow on the yin and yang island, Ged spoke his own name and
embraced the shadow. Ying and Yang are seen as a duality forming a whole so when Ged and the
shadow unite, it can symbolize discovering his whole identity. Since often times darkness represents
evil, it can be seen as when Ged embraced the shadow, he is accepting his past decisions and dark side
that can overcome him at any time. It is a part of growing up and finding who you really are, to realize
your past faults, and accept what you did and move

Theme Of Nature In Jane Eyre
After struggling to find a new home, Jane finally finds Moor House where everything grows in
harmony with and echoes its environment (Fuller 160). This reflects the spectacular, new family she
finds in St. John, Mary, and Diana. This is a significant change from any other location where Jane has
stayed before as she is now able to sit in the sunshine, calm[ly] and sweet[ly] (Brontë 373), and nature
almost climbs through the window to embrace the house s inhabitants (Fuller 160), symbolizing that
Jane is very close to achieving her goal of freedom. Jane s new life is her version of perfection, or so
she thinks. This perfection comes crashing down due to one of the house s inhabitants: St. John. St.
John pushes Jane away from nature as he is separate from an antagonistic towards the balance
between humanity and nature (Fuller 161), because of this, Brontë changes the weather back to its
cold, dark ways to show Jane that it is time to move on again. As Jane and St. John s interactions
increase a whirling storm continue[s] all night (Brontë 383). St. John s marriage proposal truly throws
Jane for a loop and due to his persistence, Jane cannot find peace at Moor House as long as St. John
disrupts her connection with the natural world (Fuller 161). The storms increase until it finally reaches
a climax, the frozen hurricane (Brontë 383), where Jane finds herself trapped in her own real life
disaster. While Moor House began as an idyllic paradise (Fuller 161) for

Elements Of Service Oriented Architecture

CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
This chapter gives brief information about SOA, architecture of SOA and its principles. And also gives
introduction about problem statement, motivation, and objective.
1.1 Introduction of Service Oriented Architecture
A Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is an architectural pattern in computer software design in
which application components provide services to other components via a communications protocol,
typically over a network. The principles of service orientation are independent of any vendor, product
or technology. [16]
SOA is a design for linking business and computational resources (principally organizations,
applications and data) on demand to achieve the desired results for service ... Show more content on

Susan Cain s Suitcase Of Introversion
Susan Cain and her suitcase of introversion Susan Cain, a well known and appreciated writer from
America in the field of psychology, recently held a speech on one of the famous TED talks and
entirely captured me by trying to give the audience an understanding of introversion. She has a
scientific and above very empathic approach to the topic as she claims to be an introvert herself which
I find fascinating and admiring as well. The story begins with an unremarkable suitcase full of books.
What s it all about I will reveal you now. Introversion: „For some people the air they breathe. Susan
Cain tells us her story on a TED talk, which stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design and is a
global set of conferences run by the private non profit Sapling Foundation, under the slogan Ideas

normal to her, as in her family, reading was a different way of being social . Very quickly she got
confronted with some adjectives often used in relation to introversion: mellow, shy and not very
outgoing. At this point she felt guilty leaving her books in her suitcase but she begun thinking more
deeply about why extroversion is being so prized in contrast to introversion, that is considered to be
something negative. She affirms that this is partly a consequence of our education system and also of

Music And Music Therapy
Music is present in our everyday lives, in many different forms, yet we are oblivious to its therapeutic
values. Individuals with mental illnesses have hardships that they face daily. Patients will mental
illnesses may use music therapy to improve the extremity of their mood swings and ultimately, their
way of life. What is music therapy? Music therapy is the skillful use of music and musical elements by
an accredited music therapist to promote, maintain, and restore mental, physical, emotional, and
spiritual health (Ulbricht, Psychology Today). Since the beginning of time, music therapy has been
documented in multiple ways. In the Old Testament of the Bible, David was found comforting Saul
with his harp. Also, Plato and Aristotle both wrote of the virtues of music to calm and soothe, as well
as for stimulation and motivation. On the contrary, music therapy wasn t a professional discipline in
the United States until the 1940s. In the 21st century, it has broadened even further and is used in
diverse areas of medicine, such as cancer, palliative and pain control for surgical patients. Even with
countless experiments and evidence, there are plenty of people that are still suspicious of the
therapeutic benefits of music. As a result of this, music has been found as one of the least funded
activities in schools and universities. One of the biggest areas that music needs to be referred to is
mental illnesses. What necessarily makes someone have a mental illness? A mental

Chinese Tigers Research Paper
Tiger Farming
You see the problem with nowadays is not the financial issues of countries, or poverty, nor crime, and
neither any political issues. It is the extinction of species, there are so many species that go extinct that
you probably do not know about. One such species is the Chinese tiger. These tigers have a sad story
due to their extinction. I believe that the Chinese tigers should be saved from mongrels who would use
their lives for personal gain, or even for any reason. I also hope that you share the same viewpoint as
me, but I will leave that decision to you after you read through my article.
First let us begin with why the Chinese Tiger is so special. The Chinese tiger is considered the Stem
Tiger , this means that all of the other tigers were originated from this species of tiger. So the well
renown Bengal and Siberian tigers are subspecies from the Chinese tiger. That makes these tigers a
treasured species to science. It also means that this species is irreplaceable. Sadly, this species bones

The supplies that they can create is by no means an equal trade out for the extinction of the entire
species. Just look at the albino rhino, there is only one male left in the entire world, it can no longer
reproduce. Meaning that the species is extinct. It is such a sad thing. I know that I do not want the
Chinese tiger to become like the albino rhino. I believe that these tigers should be put in captivity for
the time being until their numbers reach about 150, then we should release a little at a time back into
to the wild to get the ecosystem back to the way it was without endangering yet another species. So I
ask you to help, with something, anything. Call up an organization, raise funds near you, something,
just do something to save this species. I hope that the facts and statistics that you have read will make
you passionate enough to

In 1960, West Bengal has been amongst the 3 richest states of India. Being a British capital of those
times it has a strong manufacturing tradition. During the colonial period, West Bengal was one of the
leading states having the highest contribution to nation s industrial output and employment and
continued this trend till the 1960 s.Post 1960, the state started losing its prominence and witnessed
reduced productivity and labour militancy on a grand scale. This trend continued till the late 90 s, but
the turning point came after 2000 where there has been a resurgence in the state s industrial sector.
Economic reforms and competition among states have led to renewed interest of Business groups in

The, Terrorism, And International Terrorism
The infamous word of Terrorism is such a complex word when it comes to the actual definition.
Reason that is the case is that everything that happens from a shooting of innocent people to the fires
that were set to the churches in the south. Everyone around the world in different countries also has
their own definition and that is because they have faced the horror of constant terrorist attacks in the
past 20+ years. The bloodshed that happens on a daily basis is why it is known as terrorism. For one it
s conducted by an organized group of individuals who seek to spread their beliefs onto others who
have their own religion. The current definition according to the State Department website is broken
down into two parts which is domestic terrorism, and international terrorism. Both are broken down to
describe what they both mean and who the individuals that conduct such attacks are.
Internationally, the definition in countries such as in the United Kingdom is from the Parliamentary
Liaison Secretary, Michael Bartlet : [1] (1) In this Act terrorism means the use or threat of action
where: (a) the action falls within subsection (2), (b) the use or threat is designed to influence the
government or to intimidate the public or a section of the public, and (c) the use or threat is made for
the purpose of advancing a political, religious or ideological cause.

Joe Whitehead, the teacher of the course have said that they are willing to teach the teachers what they
know. This is why I propose that during the summer the teachers have to go to a one week training
program were Mr. Whitehead and his A+ certified students can teach the teachers the basics of
figuring out what the problem is and start to fix the problem. This way the teachers can start fixing the
problem while they are waiting for one of the five students to come and finish fixing whatever the
problem may be, this will cut down on some of the time it takes to fix the issue. This solution is a cost
effective way to start chipping away at the wasted time. For teachers who want to learn how to
completely find, isolate and fix the technical issue the work shop could be a month long but only
mandate the teachers to attend the first week when the basics are being taught.
Now that the teachers can start fixing their own technical issues the 25 minutes will be shorter. The
next problem is setting up/knowing how to use the technology. During the mandatory week of training
you can bring in students to teach the teachers how to use this technology. It would only coast the
school some pizza, chips, and soda and fixes two problems. Students complain about teachers not
understating what it is like to be a student and sit in a boring class , and teachers complain that the
students do not understand what it is like to get up in front of a class to teach.

Literary Analysis Of Our Town
Aaron Keime Mr. Sissel English 11(B) 3 16 15 Our Town Literary Analysis The play Our Town is
made by Thornton Wilder. It takes place in Grover s Corner, New Hampshire, a very small town. In
Our Town, Thornton Wilder shows us how to live like better by making more time for loved ones and
that live goes by fast. One of Our Town s main theme in my opinion is that life is futile. Almost every
character in the play can be used to support this analysis. Throughout this paper I will examine how
characters support this theme. Another theme that I draw from this play is that time goes by too fast.
Time seems to be an underlying menace the entirety of the play. The first theme that I will discuss is
that life is futile. The first instance of this in Our Town is Joe Crowell Jr. when we are told that he died
in World War I. We learn that Joe goes to college and tries to get an education for his life. But it doesn
t really matter because he dies in the first World War. The play also shows some irony in with Joe that
he can predict when it s going rain but can t predict when he s going to die. Also showing how fast
time passes the play shows Joe s brother delivering papers just like he used to. Life will seem to go on
the same way that it always did even when all these people die. The play actually mentions quite a ...

made him feel like everything he did in his life was for nothing. The second character is Joe crowell

Best Highway Of America
Loud, crowded, and boring is what I would call an interstate, would you personally enjoy driving on
an interstate or a highway? Well most people take the interstate because it s much faster, but where is
the fun in that? To me, an interstate are not faster but they are much more enjoyable. Also, the author
of the article The Best Highway of America is on the Blue Highways states his opinion on how route
66 represents America and his evidence is quite effective. The author stated how on route 66 there is
something new to see on every corner and when you drive on an interstate there are nothing but rode.
On an interstate you do not see anything big and beautiful, the only thing you see is a gas station and
maybe a hotel. The only time you will really see anything like restaurant is if you turn on an exit ramp
a long way away. The Jefferson Highway sits right on a river, after that it is twisty two lane roads that
wind through the hills and into the West St. Louis County. As the author said, It is one gorgeous vista
after another. If the Jefferson highway is important to people any other highway may be important as
well, referring to Route 66. You would not be able to see those things on an interstate. ... Show more

When you are on a highway, you find things that you may never find anywhere else. The businesses
are owned by people who live in that area, you could not find their business anywhere on an interstate.
The author pointed out I could drive for days and never find anything else just like it because it s only
made of that small town by those particular people. That s a pro on why you should take a highway

The Importance Of A Career Education
College is a costly but worthwhile endeavor that any high school graduate should strive for. But the
question on most high school graduates minds is about what to study in college and dedicate the rest
of there life to. Many students pursue a liberal education or a career education in college. In my
opinion a career education is an important use of a college education because it is more applicable
than a liberal arts education in a job setting in today s capitalist society. Many people assume that a
career education only provides unrewarding job training but it is so much more than that. In reality a
career education is an avenue for people to lead meaningful lives that can be enjoyable. Emily

Video Game Industry Has Undergone Significant Changes From...
The video game industry has undergone significant changes from the early days of Atari. It now
covers multiple sectors and generates more revenue than the movie and music industry. Last year total
revenue in the U.S. eclipsed $23.5 billion, jumping 5% from a year earlier. A big part of that increase
is due to a shift away from physical games towards digital software. In the past 5 years video game
publishers have focused on expanding their direct to consumer channels through robust digital
offerings. Meanwhile, the emergence of mobile gaming, eSports and virtual reality are poised to take
the industry by storm in the next few years. With the industry growing at a rapid clip, it should be near
the top of any investor s list.
Video Game Industry
For starters, the video game industry consists of three primary sectors; PC, console and mobile. PC
gaming is currently the biggest moneymaker followed by console and mobile. However, mobile is
poised to eclipse both PC and console sales in the next 5 years. Console gaming remains a blue
chipper in the industry with limited upside or downside potential. Despite the booming popularity of
PC games, computer sales continue to struggle. Names like HP (HPQ) and IBM (IBM) continue to
point to a weak PC market as the source of its problems. Both stocks are down double digits in the
past 12 months and should only be pursued as long term investments.
Console gaming, on the other hand, has become so advanced that they are essentially

and military away from Europe. The Soviet Union valued communist ideals and a dictatorship. After
World War II, the United States became a pillar for the ideals of capitalism and democracy. The

For example, with government owned companies and limited opening for trade, Communist countries
treat the philosophy of free markets in the West, which could put a hold on many of the transactions
with Europe. The ideologies also conflicted in the sense of military goals. For the United States, the
goal was to protect democracy, a concept believed to be the best outcome for countries. Britain and the
United States wanted to help Germany recover from the war, and worried that Communism would
spread throughout Europe. The Soviet Union, on the other hand, wanted to spread Communist values
and gain allies in Europe to protect the Soviet Union against future invasions.
Churchill refers to the fact that the Soviet Union needs to secure its borders. His intentions were to say
that the Soviet Union had the right to want protection against a possible German aggression. He also
welcomed and recognized that the Soviet Union is among one of the most powerful nations of the
world, but it should not enforce it through military expansion and imposing a dictatorship system.
Churchill wanted to ask the Soviet Union politely to stop imposing its ideals and military intervention

Kate Chopin was born Catherine O Flaherty in St. Louis on the 8th of February 1850. Her mother,
Eliza Faris, came from a French family and her father Thomas, was a successful Irish born
businessman, and died when Kate was five years old. Chopin was raised in a home primarily led by
women, her mother, her grandmother, and the female slaves her mother owned, who took care of the
children. She spoke French and played the piano. During her younger years she read books authored
by Charles Dickens, Jane Austin and the Brontë s. Chopin s writing career began after the death of her
husband, Oscar Chopin. Soon after her husband s death, her mother past away, leaving her in a state of
depression because of the loss of both her husband and mother. Her obstetrician, and family friend, Dr.
Frederick Kolbenheyer encouraged her to begin writing as a way for her to fight her depression and to
possibly begin a healing process. This turned out to be a new way for her to generate some income she
needed.
By the early 1890s, Chopin was writing short stories, and articles that appeared in periodicals and
literary magazines. Chopin s writing style was influenced by her family roots of French and Irish
ancestry. She often placed her story settings in Louisiana. Her writing

Ok Chin Identity Swap
The question that I decided to use was The author mentions that Ok Chin tried to tell her adoptive
parents about the switch, but the parents only spoke English, my question is why the orphanage didn t
make sure the parents and adopted child have some form of communication so things like this won t
happen? In my opinion, I believe that the orphanage should have a better system so children won t get
switched in the process of adoption. For instance, the orphanage should have made sure that each
child was able to communicate with their new parents and vice versa. Even if the adoption process has
to take more time, this is highly needed in international baby trades. Just by making sure the child and
parents are able to communicate with each other can help stop many problems that they may have. ...

The parents and the child are able to get to know each other much better if the orphanage take the time
to make sure that both child and parents know how to communicate with each other. However, as I
was conducting my research, I came across an article about the film of Ok Chin s life called, In the
Matter of Cha Jung Hee. According to the article Ok Chin identity swap was purposely done. OK Chin
was told to keep secret about her identity because the real Cha Jung Hee was taken by her father days
before the adoption. Therefore, the orphanage needed another eight year old girl for the parents.
However, in my opinion all of this could have been done easily with the truth. There was no need to
take an eight year old girl s identity away and make her become someone else. If the orphanage would
have just told the Borshays, the family that was supposed to adopt Cha Jung Hee, then they probably
would have understood the entire

How Organisms Evolved From a Common Ancestors
One of the most important principles of biology is the main idea of evolution. This theory states, that
all living organisms have evolved from a common ancestor through natural selection acting on
hereditary variation (Reece, 2011). Many people today, know humans have evolved from a common
ancestor; but they do not recognize the importance of it. Everyone should be educated about how
organisms evolved because humans have evolved throughout many centuries. Charles Darwin had
many theories that incorporated the main principle of biology, natural selection and evolution. Darwin
explained natural selection as an evolutionary change where organisms that become more adapted to
their environment will survive better than those who do not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

While Darwin was on his voyage, the Beagle, he noticed that different organisms and things vary in
characteristics and their adaptations to different environments.
While Darwin was studying natural selection, he noticed that different species would have to compete
for survival allowing some species to have different characteristics that help them survive and produce
more offspring. These offspring traits are passed down from their parents, and it will help them
become more successful in their need for survival (College, 2009). Darwin had to prove natural
selection existed and how traits are passed down to offspring. He did this by the process of Pangenesis
(College, 2009). Pangenesis is when each organ in the body has certain particles called gemmules. The
gemmules, contain information of how each organ works; they are eventually released to the
reproductive organs (College, 2009). They are passed down to the offspring from the reproductive
organs. Today, Darwin s theory is well supported because of DNA and fossil records. Charles Darwin
spend most of his life focused on the theory of natural selection and evolution. This theory states that
all living organisms evolved from a common ancestor (Reece, 2011). Many people know

Sirius Xm (SIRI) Turnaround post 2007 merger
Industry:
* Prior to change: Sector: Consumer Services / Industry: Broadcasting Radio * After change: Sector:
Consumer Services / Industry: Broadcasting Radio
Challenge Years: Pre and Post 2007 (merger)
Introduction:
* Sirius and XM, separate companies, began to compete in the satellite radio business in 2001 and
2002. Target market was car drivers and daily commuters who listened to their local radio stations that
they preferred, but were limited to small service areas and less range and would lose frequency once
out of that locality. Wall Street believed that satellite radio was the next opportunity in consumer
electronics.

Having secured installation deals with automakers including Chrysler, Ford and BMW, Sirius
launched the initial phase of its service in four cities on February 14, 2002, expanding to the rest of the
contiguous United States on July 1, 2002.
* In November 2001, Margolese stepped down as CEO, remaining as chairman until November 2003,
with Sirius issuing a statement thanking him for his great vision, leadership and dedication in creating
both Sirius and the satellite radio industry. Joe Clayton, former CEO of Global Crossing, followed as
CEO from November 2001 until November 2004. Clayton stayed on as chairman until July 2008. Mel
Karmazin, former president of Viacom, became CEO in November 2004, and remained in that
position through the merger, until December 2012.
Early days of XM: * XM Satellite Radio was founded by Lon Levin and Gary Parsons. It has its
origins in the 1988 formation of the American Mobile Satellite Corporation (AMSC), a consortium of
several organizations originally dedicated to satellite broadcasting of telephone, fax and data signals.
In 1992, AMSC established a unit called the American Mobile Radio Corporation, dedicated to
developing a satellite based digital radio service; this was spun off as XM Satellite Radio Holdings,

Seven Layers in the OSI Model
1. This class made me learn quite a lot. Though it was a course I have done in my under graduate, this
class helped me to learn more about the networking. The class was interactive and fun, the lab
sessions were very helpful. The project was one of the best parts of the whole course. It made me look
into and study about various new protocols in networking and finally I could get an idea on how I
could design a protocol by myself. The most important thing I learnt in this class is the detailed
functions and uses of every later in the OSI model, and I also realized that TCP is the most important
protocol of all that I learnt. It is very reliable and provides acknowledgement, and is a full duplex
process. It provides congestion control and flow control and is also a connection oriented service. On
an overall this class made me learn a lot that would always be very helpful to me. 2. The seven Layers
in the OSI model are Physical Layer, Link Layer, Network Layer, Transport Layer, Session Layer,
Application Layer and the presentation Layer. Each layer has a specific function to perform and
consist of different protocols. Physical layer is the lowest one and handles transmission and reception
of messages over the medium. Then comes the link layer , it allows error free transmission of the data
frames in the physical layer. The network layer takes care of processes like routing, traffic control and
fragmentation of the data. The next one is the transport layer, it takes care of the

The Many Benefits of Hybrid Cars Essay
The Many Advantages of Hybrid Cars
Picture yourself driving on the freeway. You are cruising along at about sixty five miles per hour in
your late model SUV. This is a typical morning for you until an electronic beep from within your dash
catches your attention. When you look at your gauges, you see the low fuel light shining bright and
orange. As you think to yourself, I just filled this thing up a week ago, you glance up to see salvation
in the form of a road sign: Gas, next exit.
Thank you, you say, looking up. When you turn, however, you realize a new problem. The premium
grade fuel with which you usually fill your tank is almost $2.00 per gallon. That means it would cost
you $40.00 just to get through another week of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are several different components that make up a hybrid car. These are:
· A Gasoline Engine endash; The gasoline engine on a hybrid car is quite similar to a typical car s
engine. The difference between a typical gasoline engine and a hybrid s gasoline engine is that a
hybrid s engine contains different technology that reduces emissions, and it is also much smaller.
· A Fuel tank endash; Just like a typical car, the fuel tank is a large storage device for the gasoline that
powers the engine. Gasoline is much denser than batteries. 1,000 pounds of batteries store about as
much as one (seven pounds) gallon of fuel.
· An Electric motor endash; This is the part of the vehicle that makes it a hybrid. Advanced electronics
give the motor the ability to act as a generator and also power the transmission. When powering the
vehicle, the motor will draw energy from a battery when need be. When it is a generator, the motor
returns energy to the same batteries that were used to power the motor.
· A Generator endash; On some hybrids (mostly series hybrids), a separate generator is used to return
energy to the battery or power the electric motor and allow the battery to rest.
· The Batteries endash; Like the fuel tank stores the energy for the gasoline engine, the batteries store
the energy for the electric motor.
· A transmission endash; A hybrid s transmission performs the same basic

This caused each side to bring out their own armies and prepare for civil war. The liberals brought out
the old Tsarist Army to fight the Bolsheviks. The ideology between the dual powers was almost
illusionary, because it forced the cooperation of the bourgeoisie and the proletariat7. The Provisional
Government believed in a government that supported it s citizens without the use of force, basically
everything the Tsar was against. The Bolsheviks believed in a strong army, and social equality. Since
the Provisional Government had no immediate plans for the peasants, the Bolsheviks decided that they
needed immediate action against the Provisional Government. The ideals each held were in stark
contrast, and once the unifying goal of removing the Tsar was achieved, the cooperation of the two
governments began to disintegrate. 3. The Major Failures The Provisional Government failed to solve
the major problems confronting the country such as the state of the country after the war, and the
distribution of power8. The government did not have a loyal army to help enforce it s power. This left
a power vacuum, allowing the country to enter a civil war. This caused the government to forfeit all of
the support it received before the 1917 Revolution. It also failed either to contain by force the

Vices Of Consent Analysis
Vices of consent represent a distinct juridical institution, because they are placed between the lack of
will and a free, conscious consent, which is able to produce exactly that juridical effects perused
through the conclusion of the act. Otherwise, the intervention of the vices will affect the internal will
and, finally, the consent, but not so powerful that makes it non existent, but it will harm the consent in
its conscious and free dimension. Understanding the manners in which these vices affect the human
wills it is realized, also, through comparative analysis. Thus, the common points of the vices of
consent are the moment of intervention, their effects and sanction. But in the context of their structure,
all these vices are different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why does society s conception of vice shift over time? Which social and cultural factors lead to
reassessments of the moral blameworthiness inherent in the concept of vice? This article considers
these questions and argues that, because vice both represents and results from moral ambivalence, it is
distinguishable from the concept of crime; vice is continually subject to reevaluation. Attitudes toward
vice are thus inherently unstable. Further, moral ambivalence varies, depending upon how the
particular characteristics of a vice map on to basic cultural values. 2 Values are often inconsistent with
one another and drift over time in their perceived importance, taking on different significance from
one decade to the next. Society s evaluation of social policies regarding vice are heavily influenced by
these shifting values and and, thus, limit the possibility of rational and scientific policy analysis
Because vice implies moral ambivalence, its conduct norms are especially subject to change. Shifting
definitions of vices are often interpreted as a function of political affiliation and preference, rather than
cultural contradiction. Experience, however, suggests otherwise (Winter ,1988). Cigarette smoking is
considered a substantial public health problem and the main global cause of preventable death that is
also affecting young people (WHO,

The Cause And Effects Of The Great Recession
The Great Recession was an economic recession that took place across the globe during the late
2000s. It was caused by the bursting of an $8,000,000,000,000 housing bubble. A housing bubble is
caused by a substantial increase in real estate property values to an unsustainable level until a limit is
reached where the market collapses. This led to less consumer spending, a collapse in business
investing, and eventually an increase in job loss. Family wealth dropped, and the price of oil increased
greatly. The Great Recession created a lasting aftermath on the economy and the lives of Americans.
The impact of the staggering loss of financial investments and employment security, and the decline of
real estate value that devastated the U.S. economy during the Great Recession, is still being felt even
to this day. The unemployment rate is still returning to normal after the Great Recession. This is
because during the economic recession, job loss increased dramatically. This had a huge impact on the
lives of Americans. According to Investopedia, As a result of the Great Recession, the United States
alone shed more than 7.5 million jobs, causing its unemployment rate to double. Further, American
households lost roughly $16 trillion of net worth as a result of the stock market plunge. (Investopedia)
Many people lost their jobs, which prevented them from earning money. This meant that many people

We Propose A Novel Framework For Tweet Segmentation
Abstract Twitter has become one of the most important communication channels with its ability
providing the most up to date and newsworthy information. Considering wide use of twitter as the
source of information, reaching an interesting tweet for user among a bunch of tweets is challenging.
A huge amount of tweets sent per day by hundred millions of users, information overload is inevitable.
For extracting information in large volume of tweets, Named Entity Recognition (NER), methods on
formal texts. However, many applications in Information Retrieval (IR) and Natural Language
Processing (NLP) suffer severely from the noisy and short nature of tweets. In this paper, we propose
a novel framework for tweet segmentation in a batch mode, called HybridSeg by splitting tweets into
meaningful segments, the semantic or context information is well preserved and easily extracted by
the downstream applications. HybridSeg finds the optimal segmentation of a tweet by maximizing the
sum of the stickiness scores of its candidate segments. The stickiness score considers the probability
of a segment being a phrase in English (i.e., global context) and the probability of a segment being a
phrase within the batch of tweets (i.e., local context). For the latter, we propose and evaluate two
models to derive local context by considering the linguistic features and term dependency in a batch of
tweets, respectively. HybridSeg is also designed to iteratively learn from confident segments as

Military History
The military, in modern times, has many purposes. These forces are given high powered weapons and
granted the authorization to use deadly force, while being tasked with carrying out orders from their
government and protecting its interests. Armed forces are also sometimes called upon to promote
political agendas, guard economic interests, enact population control, and conduct emergency services
or construction. Any history of armed conflict is considered to be military history, however, the
profession of being a soldier is older than said recorded history. As seen throughout this history, when
the military goes unchecked by its government or citizens, some terrible and unlawful acts may occur.

The Pedagogical Aspects Of Communicative Language Teaching
Communicative Language Teaching
This essay will take just a peek at some of the pedagogical aspects of Communicative Language
Teaching and the teachers therein.
As the U. K. entered the common market (EEC) in the early 1970s. A sharp rise in demand from our
new European neighbours for The English Language landed on our shores. Due to the modernization
of secondary schools not only in Europe but indeed worldwide, languages were a hot commodity and
many were on offer, English being most sort after.
This demand equally put educators, linguists and language experts under immense pressure to come
up with something new and not as it were traditional methods or approaches e.g. audio linguistics
which had been around since the end of the Second World War.
In these modern times (the 1960s, 1970s) a plethora of theories, designs, and approaches in the field of
second language acquisition, came bubbling up to the surface. Due to the application of different
functional, formal, and cognitive linguistic theories.
Chomsky and Halliday have immensely contributed to the development of second language teaching
theories and practices.
Enter the communicative language teaching approach, (CLT).
The focus of CLT is primary and necessarily social, concerned as it was with the goal of successful
communication (Cook 2010; 36) .
The five features of CLT, David Nunan (1991) is one of the most recognised in the field of CLT.

Self Harm In Canada
Self harm is an mental health issue that not a lot of people know about. Self harm is ...the act of
deliberately harming your own body, such as cutting or burning yourself (www.mayoclinic.org). It is
an issue that people do not like to talk about and especially in schools. Statistics showed that in 2014,
110% of teen girls per 100,000 self harmed; and it has increased from 23% to 35% that teen boys self

many teenagers self harm, people do not think about if adults self harm. Statistics showed that in

People who self harm just want to escape from reality and they do not want to face their depression or
anxiety; it is a way for them to cope with stress. Self harm is not considered to be its own mental
health condition and doctors believe it is to be caused by depression and/or other mental health
illnesses such as obsessive compulsive disorder. Many things can cause someone to self harm such as
self anger, self hatred, cope with negative feelings, and to even just feel better (Canadian Mental
Health Association). Although those who hurt themselves do not want to end their lives, it can be a
sign of a suicidal attempt in the future. It is hard to tell if some self harms and family/friends are
surprised when they find out that their loved one hurts themselves. Some of the many symptoms of
self harm include scars on their body, wearing long sleeved clothing in the summer or hot weather, and
spending much of their time alone (Mayo Clinic). There are other symptoms of self harm that do not
involve hurting one s self with a razor or blade (Help Guide). Self harm does not only affect the one
who is doing it, but also the family and the ones around the self

DR Congo is ranked 107th (the worst) in the world (Global Food Security Index, 2013). Every country, whether it s DR Congo or America, have some strengths when it comes to food security. For DR Congo their strengths are agricultural import tariffs (affordability), Volatility of agriculture production (availability), and nutritional standards (quality and safety of food), just to name some (Global Food Security Index, 2013). Some challenges that DR Congo face, in terms of food security, can be put in three sections as stated before (Global Food Security Index, 2013). Romeo and Juliet both make choices that complicates their relationship and causing so much conflict in their life whereas they both kill themself in the end. In this drama, personal choices have a greater impact on the characters than fate. Juliet wasn t clearly thinking when she made the personal choice by wanting to kill herself. What if this mixture do not work at all? Juliet then lies down the dagger. What if it be a poison which the friar subtly hath ministered to have me dead (pg.258) Tybalt, stay! Romeo, I come! • 4. The Theme Of Balance In Ursula Leguin s A Wizard Of Earthsea The balance of light and dark has been off kilter forever and the balance has never been obtained! In the fantasy novel A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula LeGuin, the battle of light and dark has subsided, balance has been restored, and shows the journey of discovering one s identity. At the end of the novel, when the shadow and Ged conjoin it can be seen as the realization of one s identity, as well the discovering of balance. LeGuin uses symbols in the novel to convey what is happening on a deeper level. At the beginning of the end, the sea turned into sand as Ged approached his shadow, which can be seen as a balance, when two opposites, such as sea and sand, become one. It shows when two opposites find a middle point and are at peace as opposed to constantly battering against one another. This instance can also be seen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Light and dark have been unbalanced, waging on since the beginning of time, until they find a balance where each has met its match. When Ged, with his flaming white staff merges with the pitch black shadow, and emerging as one may be seen as if they have made peace at a set point and created equilibrium, as previously discussed by Yarrow and Ged. When this occurs, Ged finally becomes a whole self by recognizing who he is, and his balance of positive and negative decisions .Also, in the interaction between Ged and the shadow on the yin and yang island, Ged spoke his own name and embraced the shadow. Ying and Yang are seen as a duality forming a whole so when Ged and the shadow unite, it can symbolize discovering his whole identity. Since often times darkness represents evil, it can be seen as when Ged embraced the shadow, he is accepting his past decisions and dark side that can overcome him at any time. It is a part of growing up and finding who you really are, to realize your past faults, and accept what you did and move ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Theme Of Nature In Jane Eyre After struggling to find a new home, Jane finally finds Moor House where everything grows in harmony with and echoes its environment (Fuller 160). This reflects the spectacular, new family she finds in St. John, Mary, and Diana. This is a significant change from any other location where Jane has stayed before as she is now able to sit in the sunshine, calm[ly] and sweet[ly] (Brontë 373), and nature almost climbs through the window to embrace the house s inhabitants (Fuller 160), symbolizing that Jane is very close to achieving her goal of freedom. Jane s new life is her version of perfection, or so she thinks. This perfection comes crashing down due to one of the house s inhabitants: St. John. St. John pushes Jane away from nature as he is separate from an antagonistic towards the balance between humanity and nature (Fuller 161), because of this, Brontë changes the weather back to its cold, dark ways to show Jane that it is time to move on again. As Jane and St. John s interactions increase a whirling storm continue[s] all night (Brontë 383). St. John s marriage proposal truly throws Jane for a loop and due to his persistence, Jane cannot find peace at Moor House as long as St. John disrupts her connection with the natural world (Fuller 161). The storms increase until it finally reaches a climax, the frozen hurricane (Brontë 383), where Jane finds herself trapped in her own real life disaster. • 7. Susan Cain s Suitcase Of Introversion Susan Cain and her suitcase of introversion Susan Cain, a well known and appreciated writer from America in the field of psychology, recently held a speech on one of the famous TED talks and entirely captured me by trying to give the audience an understanding of introversion. She has a scientific and above very empathic approach to the topic as she claims to be an introvert herself which I find fascinating and admiring as well. The story begins with an unremarkable suitcase full of books. What s it all about I will reveal you now. Introversion: „For some people the air they breathe. Susan Cain tells us her story on a TED talk, which stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design and is a global set of conferences run by the private non profit Sapling Foundation, under the slogan Ideas Worth Spreading . By asking yourself these questions you are a little bit closer to comprehend an introvert and his frequent tendency to silent activities such as reading. A different way of being social ... At this point she felt guilty leaving her books in her suitcase but she begun thinking more deeply about why extroversion is being so prized in contrast to introversion, that is considered to be something negative. Individuals with mental illnesses have hardships that they face daily. Patients will mental illnesses may use music therapy to improve the extremity of their mood swings and ultimately, their way of life. What is music therapy? Music therapy is the skillful use of music and musical elements by an accredited music therapist to promote, maintain, and restore mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health (Ulbricht, Psychology Today). Since the beginning of time, music therapy has been documented in multiple ways. In the Old Testament of the Bible, David was found comforting Saul with his harp. Also, Plato and Aristotle both wrote of the virtues of music to calm and soothe, as well as for stimulation and motivation. On the contrary, music therapy wasn t a professional discipline in the United States until the 1940s. In the 21st century, it has broadened even further and is used in diverse areas of medicine, such as cancer, palliative and pain control for surgical patients. Even with countless experiments and evidence, there are plenty of people that are still suspicious of the therapeutic benefits of music. As a result of this, music has been found as one of the least funded activities in schools and universities. One of the biggest areas that music needs to be referred to is mental illnesses. • 10. Chinese Tigers Research Paper Tiger Farming You see the problem with nowadays is not the financial issues of countries, or poverty, nor crime, and neither any political issues. It is the extinction of species, there are so many species that go extinct that you probably do not know about. One such species is the Chinese tiger. These tigers have a sad story due to their extinction. I believe that the Chinese tigers should be saved from mongrels who would use their lives for personal gain, or even for any reason. I also hope that you share the same viewpoint as me, but I will leave that decision to you after you read through my article. First let us begin with why the Chinese Tiger is so special. The Chinese tiger is considered the Stem Tiger , this means that all of the other tigers were originated from this species of tiger. So the well renown Bengal and Siberian tigers are subspecies from the Chinese tiger. That makes these tigers a treasured species to science. It also means that this species is irreplaceable. The bloodshed that happens on a daily basis is why it is known as terrorism. For one it s conducted by an organized group of individuals who seek to spread their beliefs onto others who have their own religion. This is why I propose that during the summer the teachers have to go to a one week training program were Mr. Whitehead and his A+ certified students can teach the teachers the basics of figuring out what the problem is and start to fix the problem. This way the teachers can start fixing the problem while they are waiting for one of the five students to come and finish fixing whatever the problem may be, this will cut down on some of the time it takes to fix the issue. This solution is a cost effective way to start chipping away at the wasted time. For teachers who want to learn how to completely find, isolate and fix the technical issue the work shop could be a month long but only mandate the teachers to attend the first week when the basics are being taught. Now that the teachers can start fixing their own technical issues the 25 minutes will be shorter. The next problem is setting up/knowing how to use the technology. During the mandatory week of training you can bring in students to teach the teachers how to use this technology. It would only coast the school some pizza, chips, and soda and fixes two problems. • 14. Literary Analysis Of Our Town Aaron Keime Mr. Sissel English 11(B) 3 16 15 Our Town Literary Analysis The play Our Town is made by Thornton Wilder. It takes place in Grover s Corner, New Hampshire, a very small town. In Our Town, Thornton Wilder shows us how to live like better by making more time for loved ones and that live goes by fast. One of Our Town s main theme in my opinion is that life is futile. Almost every character in the play can be used to support this analysis. Throughout this paper I will examine how characters support this theme. Another theme that I draw from this play is that time goes by too fast. Time seems to be an underlying menace the entirety of the play. The first theme that I will discuss is that life is futile. The first instance of this in Our Town is Joe Crowell Jr. when we are told that he died in World War I. We learn that Joe goes to college and tries to get an education for his life. But it doesn t really matter because he dies in the first World War. The play also shows some irony in with Joe that he can predict when it s going rain but can t predict when he s going to die. Also showing how fast time passes the play shows Joe s brother delivering papers just like he used to. Life will seem to go on the same way that it always did even when all these people die. It now covers multiple sectors and generates more revenue than the movie and music industry. Last year total revenue in the U.S. eclipsed $23.5 billion, jumping 5% from a year earlier. A big part of that increase is due to a shift away from physical games towards digital software. In the past 5 years video game publishers have focused on expanding their direct to consumer channels through robust digital offerings. Meanwhile, the emergence of mobile gaming, eSports and virtual reality are poised to take the industry by storm in the next few years. Many people today, know humans have evolved from a common ancestor; but they do not recognize the importance of it. Everyone should be educated about how organisms evolved because humans have evolved throughout many centuries. While Darwin was on his voyage, the Beagle, he noticed that different organisms and things vary in characteristics and their adaptations to different environments. While Darwin was studying natural selection, he noticed that different species would have to compete for survival allowing some species to have different characteristics that help them survive and produce more offspring. These offspring traits are passed down from their parents, and it will help them become more successful in their need for survival (College, 2009). Darwin had to prove natural selection existed and how traits are passed down to offspring. He did this by the process of Pangenesis (College, 2009). Pangenesis is when each organ in the body has certain particles called gemmules. The gemmules, contain information of how each organ works; they are eventually released to the reproductive organs (College, 2009). They are passed down to the offspring from the reproductive organs. It was caused by the bursting of an $8,000,000,000,000 housing bubble. A housing bubble is caused by a substantial increase in real estate property values to an unsustainable level until a limit is reached where the market collapses. This led to less consumer spending, a collapse in business investing, and eventually an increase in job loss. Family wealth dropped, and the price of oil increased greatly. HybridSeg finds the optimal segmentation of a tweet by maximizing the sum of the stickiness scores of its candidate segments. The stickiness score considers the probability of a segment being a phrase in English (i.e., global context) and the probability of a segment being a phrase within the batch of tweets (i.e., local context). For the latter, we propose and evaluate two models to derive local context by considering the linguistic features and term dependency in a batch of tweets, respectively.
