Summary Of The Les Standiford s Twin Biography Of Both...
O Neaka Rendon History 1302 Standiford, Les. Meet You in Hell: Andrew Carnegie, Henry clay
Frick, and the bitter partnership that transformed America. New York: Crown Publishers, 2005. Meet
You in Hell is the Les Standiford s twin biography of both Henry Clay Frick and Andrew Carnegie. As
highlighted by Standiford, both had a similar background. Both of them began their lives as clerks, but
to begin amassing riches, they made use of the business connections they had made during their lowly
clerk jobs. According to Standiford, the two men embodied the worst and the worst of American
capitalism. The book provides an argument of the relationship that existed between the two founders
of the American industry. Standiford raises up the danger and majesty of steel manufacturing, the
rough and tumbles of the 19th century s big business, and the tense relationship between the ruthless
coke magnate and the world s richest man. The dramatic centerpiece of the dual biography is the
bloody clash which exists between imported Pinkerton (detectives) and striking steel workers at the
homestead of Carnegie s, in July 1892. During the battle, fourteen people died, and much more were
injured. The story of Andrew and Henry is one of the most fascinating stories about relationships; the
man who endowed many libraries, and the man who created one of the greatest museums who turn out
to be jerks in very different ways as discussed in the essay. According to Standiford, the two pulled

Stereotypes In The Looking Glass
The Looking Glass Stereotypes have been apart of society since the beginning. Stereotypes are often a
generalization or assumption of an individual, and can be positive or negative. Stereotypes appear in
the workplace, school, and daily life. There are stereotypes on race, gender, religion, sexuality, social
class, professions, weight, and schooling. One example of stereotyping is if one sees a white American
female with blonde and blue eyes, one may say she s dingy , dumb , and or typical . Now that female
may be an all honor student, but because of a stereotype she was generalized to be the complete
opposite of who she really is. Stereotyping a person based off of their appearance is one of the harmful
effects of stereotypes. Stereotypes are harmful and counterproductive ... Show more content on

Stereotyping a person because of their race is a harmful byproduct in our society. Some racial
stereotypes are all Caucasian people are racist, all Asians are geniuses, all African Americans are good
at sports, and all Hispanics are illegal immigrants. The stereotype of all Caucasian people are racist
originated from the Jim Crow era and slavery era. The stigma of discrimination in the South has left
an everlasting impression and stereotype upon white people. Now Caucasian people are categorized
for being something they aren t, and no matter how much philanthropy one may do it will never be
enough to take away that stereotype. Another belief or stereotype is that all Asians are geniuses. Asian
students are stereotyped to be exceedingly smart in the sciences, maths, and arts. One may say how
can this stereotype be negative, well a person of Asian descent may be held to higher expectations
than they can handle, and if they don t meet those expectations then they might be seen as a failure.
Another stereotype is that all African Americans are good at sports. This stereotype is harmful because
now African Americans are categorized as athletes putting them at a

Jewish Divorce Essay
Although changes have been made to Jewish divorce laws, women are continually being mistreated
when dealing with the issues of divorce. In biblical times, there were no assurances that women would
be protected when faced with a man who wanted a divorce. Furthermore, women were not allowed to
initiate the process by asking for one. As time went on, it was recognized that women needed to be
somewhat shielded from actions that her husband could take, which she had no control over. Rabbinic
law made four major changes to help the plight of women regarding divorce (Biale p.5).
First, the Halackah requires a Get (bill of divorcement), which limits the possibility of a rash,
thoughtless ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There have been many debates about this clause because the appropriate grounds for divorce are
unclear. Some believe that a man can divorce a woman merely because he likes another one better (B.
p.74). There is no safeguard against this because it is up to the man s judgment. The requirements of
the Ketubah and the Get may not convince the man to stay married.
The fact remains that on the one hand; a wife could not initiate a divorce without appealing to a Beit
Din, and on the other hand may be divorced without her consent. The Talmud states A woman may be
divorced with her consent or without it (B. 81). Rabbenu Gershom made a ruling that banned the
divorcement of a woman without her consent. Although this is a positive legislation, a Beit Din has the
power to revoke it when they deem necessary.
The most problematic law is that while it is not always necessary for a woman to consent to a divorce,
a man can give a divorce with only his full consent (Yevamot 112b) (B. 97). It is then up to the courts
and the community to try to convince him to give his wife a divorce. Many women have faced this
problem of being an Agunah (anchored wife), chained to her husband until he agrees to a divorce. This
problem is even more apparent today while religious morals do not always prevail over greedy
husbands who wish to bribe their wives for monetary gains. There are too many cases that show
husbands refusing

TRADER JOE S
Description:
Trader Joe s has become a multi billion dollar national chain partly through its ability to find cheap
real estate, skip name brands and smartly manage its supply chain. It s also due to its workforce
management practices. Below, excerpts from a book Trader Joe s Adventure, review the company s
management compensation, encouragement of multitasking, screening and wages, careful use of
money, fun culture, sense that its people are its brand, and communication style.
Learning Objective:

Without question, all of these things are an essential part of what makes Trader Joe s such a thriving
retailer when much larger chains are struggling to survive. But there s a saying in retail circles that the
last 100 feet are the hardest. Every effort can be made to heighten the efficiency of the supply chain
and get products from the manufacturer to the retailer s back door in the most cost effective way
possible. Yet, if in store execution is shoddy, retailers simply end up shooting themselves in the foot. A
big part of this execution or the last 100 feet at Trader Joe s is its employees, people who like what
they do, go out of their way to help customers, and even engage in some suggestive selling. They are a
major reason for the company s success. After all, few employers particularly in retailing can boast of
having such high levels of employee loyalty, not to mention extremely low turnover.
Compensate workers well The core of this allegiance is a wage and benefits package that is typically
far more competitive than that of most companies in the supermarket industry. Wages may attract high
quality employees, but wages are not necessarily the reason they remain loyal, as any human resources
expert can attest. Employees stay because Trader Joe s has created a culture of success: an

Essay on The Rise of European Secularism in the 19th Century
SP History 117 Final Exam One May 23, 2013 The Rise of European Secularism During the
Nineteenth Century Word Count: 2,152 In Europe, the long nineteenth century, (1789 1914) was a
tumultuous era of political, economic, and social revolution which created an increasingly secular
culture. Europeans of all races and classes looked outside the church to solve societal and familial
issues. Gifted intellectuals proposed new philosophies on human thought and behavior, while
innovative communication allowed ideas to travel quicker and easier than ever before. By the early
1800 s, Europeans began to question the role and necessity of the church and religion in their lives.

Enlightenment philosophers, like Voltaire, railed against organized theocracies and argued that
religion prevented rational inquiry while it endorsed repression, tyranny and war. The philosophy of
Immanuel Kant, who sought, liberation of the human mind from the dogmatic state of ignorance, had
a major impact on the future ideology of revolutionaries.4 It was Enlightenment ideas which
challenged people to question religious orthodoxy and use their own intelligence to draw conclusions
about the legitimacy of traditional authority. These philosophies were the foundation of modern,
egalitarian, democratic societies which would later replace Louis XVI s absolutist monarchy.
Enlightenment ideals had profound effects upon the politics of the early and mid nineteenth century.
However, a severe backlash against rationalism and liberal ideologies in France caused the return of
church state power; while conversely, in the state of Prussia, Enlightenment ideals inspired a
suppression of the church s power.5 Whether or not Enlightenment ideals and values were able to root
themselves permanently in society, the introduction and widespread acceptance of secular ideas
created major changes across Europe. After the Revolution in France, the old absolutist monarchy was
replaced by the Constitution of 1791, and King Louis XVI was forced to share power with an elected
legislative body in the new constitutional monarchy. In a rather

Jimmy Santiago Baca Impact On Education
Jimmy Santiago Baca is a prime example of the impact that can be extracted from a strong and caring
passion towards an education. Baca was passionate in learning how to read when he was in prison, and
he eventually achieved that goal. With his passion fueling his career, Baca would go on to become a
poet, writer, and education activists for diverse classrooms. Baca is fueled by improving the
conditions of those who feel like they have hit rock bottom like he once was. Several books were
written from Baca s backstory in hopes that people would learn from his mistakes and lessons learned
within his lifetime. One of the subject areas that Baca has spent a good amount of his life promoting
and discussing is the importance of education. Baca wrote a collection of stories that showed his
experiences where people attempted to keep him down, but Baca s drive to continue to expand and
learn prevented him from staying down. This collection of stories is called Stories from the Edge, and
Baca decided to add something extra with this book. He decided to go into a classroom with diverse
students and he shared his stories from the book in greater detail. There were open discussions with
the students about how his stories related to the students lives. After the student group left, Baca met
with the teachers that aided with the student interaction, and they discussed the teaching methods that
fuel the students motivation to learn. Jimmy Baca clearly is passionate in aiding individuals

Essay on A Portrait Of Duke Ellington By Tracy Frech
A Portrait of Duke Ellington By Tracy Frech
Duke Ellington is considered to be one of the greatest figures in the history of
American music. Edward Kennedy quot;Duke quot; Ellington was born in Washington D.C. on
April 29, 1899. His parents were James Edward and Daisy Kennedy Ellington. They raised Duke as an
only child, until his sister, Ruth, was born when Duke was sixteen years old. Duke, even as a teenager,
had a great talent for music. In the beginning of his musical life, Duke began to take a promising
interest in a new type of music that would later be called jazz. Choosing to base his career on a new
idea may not have been smart, but Duke did take this chance and in turn became one of the most
famous musicians in America. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although he had many friends he never really told them everything about himself. He would often
guard his privacy probably because he had so little of it. When he was alone though, he would almost
always be arranging the next tune for the band to play, and was always thinking or preparing
something for the band to do in the next performance. Duke attracted some of the greatest musicians
to join his band.
Because of this it has been said that many of Duke s pieces are almost impossible to exactly duplicate
without the personal style of the original musicians. One of the strange things that was known about
Duke was that his school music teacher, Mrs. Clinkscales, who played the piano, was always the
inspiration for him to just sit down and start tinkering around with a few notes that usually became big
hits. In his band the two, probably most famous musicians were the trumpeter Whetsol and the
saxophonist Hodges. As the band became more and more popular, saxophonist Hodges became the
highest paid performer in the United States.
The 1920 s became known as quot;the Jazz Age quot; because jazz had hit its first great burst of
popularity. At that time Duke then added a young drummer named
Sonny Greer. A few years after Greer was hired, Duke s band hit a very

Proposing a Path to Peace
Kaku (Di) Islands Dispute
15 Der., D:014
Since the cusp of the Diplomatic Age a century ago, Ælfe Ork relations have taken a turn for the
worse. Two Ælfe Ork wars humiliated the Ælves, resulting in loss of territory to a culture the
Ælves deemed derivative and inferior to their own. Part of that lost territory was the Kaku, or Di 1
Islands, largely barren landmasses significant for their strategic location between the two states, and
the meaning they have come to hold in power relations between the Ælves and the Orks. Relations 2
between the two states have become even more strained in recent years, as increasingly vocal Orkish
nationalists refuse to acknowledge the dispute, and express pride in the military aggression of the
Orkish Empire. As a corollary, the Orkish nationalists pride in past military conquests means to the
Ælves pride in the war crimes committed by Orkish soldiers at the Rape of Nan in D:37, and
undermines efforts by Orkish Primorks since D:95 to convey regret and apologies for perceived
injustices committed by the Orkish Empire s military. In the D:90 s during the Ælves rise to 3
economic power, the Ælves responded to the ongoing dispute by deferring conflict in order to
maintain equitable trade relations with the Orks, deescalating and preventing expression of anti Ork,
nationalist rhetoric. In D:014, with the Ælven economy in a more favorable position, the Ælves have

Year Round Schooling The education system in the United States is an ever evolving institution. As a
country we have progressed from one room schoolhouses, to segregated classrooms, to online learning
environments. Congress is constantly passing legislation to better our public school systems and
minimize costs to taxpayers. Individual states have also implemented various new systems to try and

many students as possible can attend. In a four track school district, student capacity is increased by

increased from 180 to up to 240.
There is also another calendar alternative that can be implemented in school systems: school wide and
school within a school calendars. In a school wide calendar, all of the students follow the same
yearlong schedule. But in the school within a school calendar, half of the students are on a yearlong
calendar and the other half are on the traditional nine month calendar. This type of system has been
implemented in several school districts in North Carolina.
Some schools (such as Timber Lane school in Virginia) that follow yearlong calendars also offer
classes during the intercession breaks. These classes can be voluntary for students who want to get
ahead or learn a new or interesting skill, or they can be mandatory for students who struggle and need
the time to catch up on the material learned during the year. Regardless of the reason for attending,
both teachers and students view intercession classes as a positive aspect of the year round school
system.
There are many other reasons why year round schooling is beneficial to students. Schools that attend

After spending a good amount of the semester discussing and learning about Robert Cialdini, it is safe
to say that no good discussion on influence and persuasion can go very far without talking about the
man who wrote the book on influence. After learning about Cialdini, we now know what he identifies
as the six weapons of influence. The six weapons are reciprocity, commitment and consistency, social
proof, liking, authority and scarcity. By weapons, what Cialdini really relays, are the six behavioral
triggers that tend to create habitual and expected compliance. To see if these influences really exist in

Compare And Contrast Rome And Greek Government
One thing constantly happening is this world, modern and past, is change. Ancient Greece and Ancient
Rome were no exceptions. Although these two great civilizations were similar, idealism and conquests
resulted in changes between their government, art, and religion.
Greece had three common forms of government, these were monarchy, oligarchy, and democracy. The
reason for many different types of government across Greece was due to the geography. The ancient
Greek city states were separated from each other by hilly countryside and all were near the water.
(http://ancienthistory.about.com). Because of the lack of motorboats, transportation between the city
states would have been timely and difficult. This resulted in small changes such as different
governments across the civilization.
In comparison, Rome also had a couple forms of government. Ancient Rome was a republic, but as
they conquered territory, Rome gathered part of the civilizations cultures and added it to their own.

of stripping one´s life of everything unrelated to the obsession. This is where the obsession it starts to

Fatality In Othello
[Bradley presents an overview of Othello, in an attempt to discover what makes this the most painfully
exciting and the most terrible of Shakespeare s tragedies. He highlights aspects of the play which
reinforce its emotional impact: the rapid acceleration of the plot, the intensity of Othello s jealousy,
the passive suffering of Desdemona, and the luck and skill involved in Iago s intrigue. According to
Bradley, these features combine to produce feelings of confinement and dark fatality that suggest that
the characters cannot escape their destinies. He then discusses three scenes Othello s striking of
Desdemona in IV. i, Othello s treatment of Desdemona as a whore in IV. ii, and her death in V. ii and
maintains that the emotional intensity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I mean the suffering of Desdemona. This is, unless I mistake, the most nearly intolerable spectacle that
Shakespeare offers us. For one thing, it is mere suffering; and, ceteris paribus [other things being
equal], that is much worse to witness than suffering that issues in action. Desdemona is helplessly
passive. She can do nothing whatever. She cannot retaliate even in speech; no, not even in silent
feeling. And the chief reason of her helplessness only makes the sight of her suffering more
exquisitely painful. She is helpless because her nature is infinitely sweet and her love absolute. I
would not challenge Mr. [Algernon Charles] Swinburne s statement [in his Study of Shakespeare] that
we pity Othello even more than Desdemona; but we watch Desdemona with more unmitigated
distress. We are never wholly uninfluenced by the feeling that Othello is a man contending with
another man; but Desdemona s suffering is like that of the most loving of dumb creatures tortured
without cause by the being he

How Is Freud And Erikson s Psychosocial Theory Of Development
Introduction
Understanding development and changes in children is an important part of teaching and upbringing
children. Theories of Human Development give us ideas to refer to understand and apply the process
of human development. They can help us find sources of behavior and trends, and account for the path
that individuals follow, whether these can be called paths of growth or lack of progress. (Ayon, 2015)
Different psychologists have contributed their theories which are helpful to understand important
concepts and issues related to child development. Sigmund Freud s psychosexual theory and Erik
Erikson s psychosocial theory are two important psychoanalytic theories that teacher s parents and
other care takers need to go through if they are involved in educating and raising children.
In this assignment I will try to compare and contrast Sigmund Freud s psychosexual theory of
development and Erik Erikson s psychosocial theory of development.
Freud s psychosexual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both theorists recognize the importance of the unconscious on development. They both assumed that
developments take place through a series of stages in a person s life and applied similar age groups for
the stages of development. Differences between Freud s psychosexual theory of development and Erik
Erikson s psychosocial theory
When we compare these two theories, there are many differences between these two theories. The first
difference I have notice is the way they described the stages. Freud proposed five stages of
development while Erikson proposed eight stages. Freud s psychosexual theory emphasizes the
importance of basic needs and biological forces, but Erikson s psychosocial theory is mostly focused
upon social and environmental factors. Erikson extended his theory into adulthood until death, while
Freud s theory ends at an earlier stage of development.

Lewczuk, Sloniewski, and Reklewski, (2006). Had completed and published a major research work

study was to investigate the repeatabilities of jumping parameters that seem to be most often discussed
by breeders. Video image analysis was used to study measurements which described the silhouette of
horse s bascule (when the highest position of withers is observed) and taking off and landing

My field experience has been wonderful so far for the first semester. I have gained valuable
information for the last couple on months interning at my agency. For this self evaluation I will be
describing the1 3 and 6 9 competencies I set up at the beginning of the semester and see if I have
achieved these skills. I will also address the growth and challenges I have come upon throughout this
semester. For competency one on processional and ethical practice I wanted to demonstrate having a
professional behavior, communication, boundaries, and writing skills throughout the semester. I also
wanted to provide integrity, competence, core values, services, dignity, and worth in the agency and
my clients. In addition being aware of the mandating reporting, parental consent, and legal consent in
the school setting. I feel the growth in this competency I have gained a lot by the agency in proving
lots of training, group supervision, and individual supervision has not only broaden my skills but have
gained valuable knowledge of what to do in certain situations. For some of the challenges I encounter
at the beginning was learning about mandating reporting and how much work it goes into calling,
summiting the paperwork all this is a curial aspect when doing a CWS report. For example, when
doing my first mandated report my supervisor stayed and walk me through each step to make sure I
did it correctly which was wonderful and learned the right way to do a mandated report.

titles of the 20th Century. While scrolling through the channels on my T.V., I happened upon an older
Western film called Duck, You Sucker! , also known as A Fist Full of Dynamite . The leading cast
includes James Coburn and Rod Steiger. The plot is about an Irish I.R.A. member befriending a
common Mexican bandit as they accidentally become involved in The Mexican Revolution in 1913.
The bandit, Juan, wants the Irish revolutionary, named John, to help him rob the bank in Mesa Verde,
but when Juan attempts to rob the bank, he realizes it has been made into a political prison. As Juan

The Differences Between The Renaissance Era And Baroque Era
To help one differentiate between the Renaissance Era and Baroque Era Heinrich Wolfflin created the
Wolfflin Method. The Wolfflin Method compares the two eras in a masterful way that helps one
simplify the differences between the Renaissance and Baroque Eras. The Renaissance Era is
represented by linear, planar, closed, and multiplicity elements. All of these elements combined to
create a crisp painting where lines and shapes are distinguished. The Baroque Era is represented by
painterly, recessional, open, and unity elements. These four elements help create a painting that uses
shadows to create dimension and depth within the piece giving the viewer an overall sense of unity.
The Wolfflin Method assists the viewer in understanding the differences between the Renaissance and
Baroque Era.
The first painting to be analyzed is The Last Days of Pompeii, by Karl Bryullov. This painting
distinctly displays elements from the Baroque Era. Although this painting has a linear element, which
comes from the Renaissance Era, it s still Baroque. The white building that is quickly crumbling has
clear defined lines with sharp edges. All of the people displaced in the painting also has defined edges
and can be differentiated from one another. This example demonstrates how the linear element is
displayed. There are a few groups of people that are on different levels, kneeling, standing, or laying
on the floor, creating diagonal lines throughout the painting, showing the recessional element.

Descriptive Essay On The Middle School
The sickly sweet smell of hot summer air is so thick I can almost taste it as it enters my nose and I m
instantly transported back to a little North Carolina college town. The radio and air conditioning start
to fade away as I open the car door to the sounds of birds chirping and teenagers chatting. I couldn t
tell what is sweeter the freedom of being out of the car or the ice cream threatening to come back up. I
walk around the car to meet mom and she just gives me a look that I know means she can tell I m
nervous. It s not like the opportunity to stay on a college campus two states away from home comes
everyday. Sure I ve been on sleep away trips but sure those were maybe a week, this would be three

her with a smile and start walking. We stop on the steps of the dorms, I inhale sharper then a knife,
and a petite girl in a screaming neon yellow staff shirt with shiny orange hair and a pink tiara says, hi.
I mutter a hi back barely audible. I feel a nudge on my back slowly urging me forward and inside. I
first notice the neon lanyards that aren t quite yellow but not green enough to be green that are around
all the kids necks. I suddenly feel stupid, like I shouldn t be at a camp for smart kids, all because I don

Episthropology, And Epistemology
Research Philosophies
There are two main subdivisions of research philosophies; ontological and epistemological research
philosophies. Ontology involves using a nature perspective to establish how things work. On the other
hand, epistemology involves assessing the interaction between the knowledge of the inquirer and the
research (Saunders, Lewis, Thornhill, 2009). The nature of reality can thus be determined by
reviewing the four primary research philosophies that are based on epistemology and ontology.
The four primary research philosophies include pragmatism, realism, positivism, and interpretivism.
An ontology based on positivism assumes that social factors have no impact on the nature and
objectives of reality. According to the ontology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this case, researchers use information that is already available and accessible to the public. Such
information is retrieved from governmental institutions, companies, and other researchers (Kumar,
2010). As such, there are various benefits that researchers gain for using this approach. One of such is
that it is cheaper than primary research. Secondly, secondary researches and their findings are readily
available in various sources. As such, they take a shorter time to conduct and complete than primary
research studies. Thirdly, they are a source of information that is used in clarification of various issues
in the study. This leads to proper development of information in the study. Finally, the initial sourced

sometimes the research questions and the data lack coherence. This is contrary to the primary research
that establishes data that is tailored to respond to particular questions (Boyle Schmierbach, 2015). It
also has a high degree or error propagation. Errors that were incurred in the initial research are
translated into the current research. Another weakness is that some data may be outdated and thus
unsuitable for use in current studies. Consumer behaviors and attitudes change from time to time, on a

Blockbuster Research Paper
American films have been divided into two main categories: Blockbusters and Independent films. In
order for a film to be categorized as a blockbuster there has to be heavy advertising and a high
production value which calls for an enormous financial budget. Blockbuster films are usually
produced by one of the major movie studios such as Warner Brothers or Paramount and star well
known actors in order to draw in the audience. There is a misconception that a film is considered a
blockbuster based off the success of the film in the cinema and how much it grossed. Unlike
blockbusters, Independent films rely heavily on the actual art of filmmaking and less on the popularity
and success. These films do not feature famous actors and are usually not shown in theaters.
Blockbusters target a wide audience and Independent films generally draw an older and more
intellectual crowd. Because blockbusters are solely driven by financial gain, filmmaking by the major
studios has become more about business then about the art of film. Movie projects are more about
marketability then artistic vision. They are based on how well they will generate reputable income
from the sales of toys, video games, and sequels. The success of a movie is evaluated by ... Show

The Storm Symbolism
In The Storm, by Kate Chopin, wife and mother, Calixta, is separated from her family, who is away
during a nasty storm. Left alone in her household with an old love who was strayed inside by the
storm, old flames between the two rekindle. The storm that is present throughout the story acts as a
symbolic element that helps convey the story in a representational way. A central idea of happiness
can be seen throughout the story. As the storm intensifies, so does the intimacy and passion between
Calixta and her old lover. Even though she loves Bobinot, she got more gratification through
satisfying her sexual desires with somebody else. This adultery doesn t end in tragedy though but quite
the opposite. Calixta s physical needs have now been met and she has been reimbursed with a new
profound joy, which is seen as Bobinot and Bibi return home. She had clasped Bibi and was kissing
him effusively.... seemed to express nothing but satisfaction at their safe return. (Chopin 271). This
innocent adultery left Calixta with a feeling of freedom, cleansing her as a summer storm freshens and
purifies the air. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

lightning frightens Calixta by striking a nearby tree she was viewing out a window. Calixta put her
hands to her eyes, and with a cry, staggered backward and Alcee s arms encircled her. (Chopin 269).
there was nothing for him to do but to gather her lips in a kiss. (270). These scenes highlight the
conflict of resisting the sexual temptations these two shared for each other, which they inevitable gave

The company must ensure that they have infrastructure in order to support the product.
Through the introduction level, the main goal is to launch a market and build major demand for the
product class. Below are some implications of the marketing mix to the introduction level applied on
Inspira: 
Price: usually high, assuming a float pricing plan for a high profit margin as the early adopters buys


Distribution Distribution is discerning and scattered as the company starts performance of the

Promotion Promotion is aimed at structuring brand attentiveness. Customers can try to sit in the car

Terrorism And Terrorism In America
No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin or his background or his religion
... People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love... ...For love
comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite. (Linton) This is a quote inspired/taken
from Mandela, and then tweeted in a series by former President Barrack Obama following a terrorism
rally in Charlottesville that took place August 2017. Terrorism in America is seen as foreigners coming
into the country and causing an uproar that includes countless deaths and injuries; however, terrorism
is already here. Terrorism and terrorist acts happen because of actual citizens in the United States of
America, yet people are not seeing them as acts of terrorism. The Collin s English Dictionary states
the definition of terrorism is, the act of terrorizing; use of force or threats to demoralize, intimidate,
and subjugate, esp. such use as a political weapon or policy (Collins English Dictionary). By this
definition, school shootings, riots that cause destruction, and attacks by American citizens on other
innocent citizens is an act of terrorism. Terrorism is meant to make a statement. While some terrorism
is done out of spite by a mentally disturbed person with erotic thoughts, some attacks are done to
cause an uproar and to scare a population, and others are thought out due to the desire of wanted

The Little Albert Experiment By John B. Watson
Throughout psychology we have learned a variety of experiments that have made an impact toward
the field of psychology. One important experiment that was significant in the field was the Little
Albert Experiment by John B. Watson. John B. Watson was a behaviorist where he wanted to conduct
an experiment that further Ivan Pavlov research on classical conditioning. Classical conditioning is a
theory engages a new behavior through the process of association. This theory includes three stages of
classical conditioning; the first stage is called unconditioned stimulus, which produces an
unconditioned response within an organism. One example of this stage is where a perfume is the
unconditioned stimulus, which can create a response of pleasure or desire (unconditioned response).
The second stage is during the conditioning where the conditioned stimulus is presented. The
conditioned stimulus is the stimulus that does not produce any response related to the unconditioned
stimulus. The third stage is what happened after the conditioning, this stage represents the roll of all
three conditioning combined and how it can impact the organism. John B. Watson went more in depth
about classical conditioning where he created his well know experiment involving a child instead of
an animal. Watson s research revolved around an observational method. According to McLeod (2015)

FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS
Throughout school, many students come in contact with the picture of the six marines raising the
American flag in the battle of Iwo Jima. The students also know this picture as a statue that was made
to honor all of those that were lost in this tragic battle. James Bradley wanted to change how people
looked at this picture or statue. He wanted to give each marine a name to go along with the hand or
face that is seen in the picture. James, when writing the book, makes each chapter the next stage in
each of the six men lives.
James Bradley begins the book by giving the reader the background of each of men. The men, oddly

By the end of the chapter, all six men are transferred to a special unit of the Marines to begin a year of

revealed as Iwo Jima. This training camp was also where they all met because they were in the same
company, Easy Company. The men tried to stay up beat, but most of them knew that the battle of Iwo
Jima was going to be there last.
After training the six men were then placed in a group, called Spearhead, which left Pearl Harbor and
sailed toward Iwo Jima hoping to make land fall on February 19, 1945, also known as D day. The
defenses the Japanese built on Iwo Jima was like none ever expected. They made what looked like an
underground city with an extensive series of underground tunnels, James Bradley explains. This
defense is what made Iwo Jima the bloodiest and most costly battle of the war in terms of lives lost
and injuries.
James Bradley describes how he found people to give interviews to describe the events of the first
awful days of battle for the Marines at Iwo Jima. To let the reader know just how bad D day was,
James puts in these statistics: 566 men were killed, 1,755 wounded, and 99 suffered combat fatigue,
which allowed the story to come alive.

Puppy Mill Research Paper
Whenever I start to talk about my breeding/showing program, people automatically jump to the
conclusion that I am a puppy miller. To me that is very hurtful and I take it offensively. A puppy mill is
an establishment that breeds puppies to sell, typically on an intensive basis and in conditions regarded
as inhumane. Me, as a breeder, I am there to improve the breed and higher the expectations and the
breed standards, while letting the dogs live a healthy and happy lifestyle. My family, as most people
with the same goals, we only breed once every couple of years. My family and I plan each litter
carefully paying attention to genetics, health clearances, and pedigrees of the dogs being bred. Puppy
millers are the complete opposite. They breed back to back to back litters, where when the bitch, the
female dog, is done with one litter and is breed the next cycle that she has. This not only stresses the

Though there were initial controversy concerning the game s content rumors of a rape scene certainly
stirred the pot the portrayal of Lara s character as a determined, skilled adventurer in training
resonated well with consumers (Meltzer, 2013). Tomb Raider (2013) sold 8.5 million copies,

for the years of objectified portrayals, the 2013 reboot allowed Lara Croft to become the empowering
icon that many fans of the series, men and women, once struggled to see her as: Gamers came to
recognise her as fearless, even arrogant, thrill seeking and callous, bold and brave: in short, a badass

on her sexuality as part of her character and embraces it without falling victim to objectification. This
series does not pretend that femininity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although each game allows the player to choose the Commander s gender at the beginning of the
game, there are few differences between the male and female versions of Shepard throughout the
series. Both the male and female iterations of Shepard follow the same story (Payne, 2013). Much like
choosing gender, RPG games often allow players to decide how the characters should behave. The
decisions lead to different events occurring in the game. In Mass Effect, Shepard can be a lawful
sheriff or lawless warden. Her story epitomizes the space western of venturing into unknown territory
to bring justice to other worlds (Bioware, 2012). Like Lara Croft, Shepard is an adventurer and a
badass. Like Bayonetta, Commander Shepard demonstrates personal agency via the game s mechanics

Digital Film And Digital Technologies Essay
Regarding my photographic process I am somewhat bilingual, making use of both analog film and
digital technologies. I primarily shoot large format sheet film with a view camera because of the
amount of control the camera provides and the rich, descriptive negative that the process yields. The
image is output in the form of archival pigment prints which are then sprayed with a clear coat that
enhances the blacks of the print. The prints are produced using a drum scanner and large format
printers which provide a high degree of control, sharpness, and description that is imperative to my
work and not possible in the dark room. The photographs presented in my thesis exhibition reflect
semantic, semiotic, and philosophical interests. They also describe formal concerns contrasting
surfaces and architectural anomalies may create a kind of perceptual discrepancy upon first glance.
The pictures, however, are decidedly un mediated descriptions of real world phenomena. In this way,
the photographs demonstrate an interest in the ready made and my on going commitment to making
work in and of the world. In the removed sign works, I photographed residual adhesive attached to
walls after signs have been removed. Confined by the rectangle of the photographic frame or the sign
s outline the adhesive remnant, stripped of it s utility, may emerge as a kind of ready made painting. In
lieu of the expected directives on the surface of these deteriorating walls are accumulated,

Hedge s Use Of Artifice In Politics
The world will not be destroyed by those who do evil, but by those who stand by and do nothing.
Albert Einstein Based on Hedge s iconic statement that the most essential skill... is artifice , one can
infer that politicians use narrative as a strategy to increase their following. This causes controversy
among the audience who may only decide their candidate through a subliminal message therefore
empathizing with the candidate rather than voting based on their intellect and opinions. While it may
seem as regular propaganda, it is a tool to deceive the viewer. Although it may be a compelling
strategy, artifice creates a barrier between the politician and the audience making the politician unable
to connect with his followers. To begin with, the passage strikes at the qualities that define a politician.
Hedges valiantly indicates that ...Political leaders no longer need to be competent, sincere or honest....
More specifically, the author writes that those are the only qualities they need, consequently ... Show

Subsequently, Hedges adds ...The consistency and emotional appeal of the story are paramount... thus
emphasizing the importance of a personal narrative. Paramount meaning that the reactions are endless
and will help the candidate obtain their goal because the opinion of the public is of utmost importance.
In order to appeal to the public, convincing them to choose a leader must be gained through emotional
manipulation. Pathological thinking is done often throughout this process as the candidates let the
citizens hear what they want to hear, not what they need to hear. Essentially, the candidates will go to
the ends of the earth to gain empathy from the audience because that is the key to winning as
explained by Chris Hedges. Entertaining them and keeping their trust is part of the political

Scar Of Smallpox Essay
The Scars of Smallpox
In a letter to Patrick Henry in 1777, George Washington wrote of Small Pox I know that it is more
destructive to an army in the natural way than the sword . At times the most minute things have the
most immense impact on our lives, such was the smallpox Epidemic of 1775. It is not known how or
where the outbreak began, but by 1775 it was raging through Boston. The devastation of Smallpox
during 1775 played a key role in the outcome of the revolutionary war and in shaping modern
medicine and how we handle diseases. But these medical advances didn t come without terrible
sacrifice. Nearly 30% of people living in the Americas or 130,658 would succumb to smallpox. The
death rate of Variola Major, which is the common form ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The practice of Inoculation is used to prevent a more serious infection by introducing a small amount
of disease into the body to build immunity. The individual may be slightly ill but after the fight off the
disease the person will be entirely immune to the disease. In 1776 Edward Jenner, a british scientist
had a revelation. He noticed Cowpox, which is similar to Smallpox but not as deadly, protected the
dairy maids from Smallpox if they contracted the disease from their cows. Cow Pox caused small
blisters to form, and a low grade fever but nothing worse. The Cowpox virus was close enough in
structure to Smallpox that the antibodies made by the infected person successfully defended against
the 25 75% lethal Smallpox virus. Jenner hit upon the idea of breaking open a Cowpox blister on a
cow and scratching the liquid inside into the arm of a person. He found that this, indeed did give the
person Cowpox. Now all he had to do was to place the person next to someone with Smallpox and see
if his theory was correct, were they immune. I noticed that Jenner didn t use himself to test this theory,
but an eight year old boy named James Phippsthankfully he was

Laissez Faire Capitalism In The Gilded Age
Before the Gilded Age, economic growth came to a halt because of the Depression of 1873. The
depression led to the bankruptcy of many banks and railroads, and resulted in hundreds of thousands
of people out of work. The Liberal Republican party also emerged as result of the depression. Liberal
Republicans were strong advocates for laissez faire policies, where there is no government regulation
in businesses or the economy. With this ideology, liberal republicans believed that it would help
stimulate economic growth and create more jobs. While liberal republicans were unsuccessful in
getting into office, they helped push the Democratic party (who were able to get control of the House
in 1784) shift their agenda to supporting laissez faire capitalism. By 1879, The Depression of 1873
had ended and the second Industrial Revolution began.
Laissez Faire capitalism became the dominating force of the Industrial Revolution that began during
the Gilded Age. The idea that Laissez Faire capitalism could help bring prosperity to the common man
was pushed by writer Horatio Alger, who published books that assured young readers that if they were
honest, hardworking, and had a good character, they could leave poverty behind and succeed in the
new competitive economy brought by the second industrial revolution. This idea was also reinforced
through the success of industrialists like John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, and Cornelius
Vanderbilt, who came from humble backgrounds. Laissez Faire

Matterhorn Descriptive Writing
I let the curled shavings fall to the frozen, inky ground, creating a heap of milky white scraps. My
blade easily carves through the wood, like a knife going through soft butter. A wolf starts howling in
the woods, and distorts my concentration, the blade jams into my finger.
Verdammt! I swear under my breath. A carmine liquid seeps out of my wound. I suck on my finger in
order to stop the profusive bleeding. I sigh and gaze across the horizon. A cascade of fiery red and
flamboyant orange spills out from the sides of the Matterhorn as the sun sinks leisurely below the ice
kissed landscape. I raise to my feet and stretch out my cramped legs. I am standing on a small ledge
which juts out from the side of the mountain. It has recently snowed so the snow is powdery and deep.
To my right, about ten feet below is a forest and to my left there is a massive skiing area. The view is
immense, with a perfect view of the Matterhorn s snow capped north side. At the bottom of the
mountain lays Zermatt. The mountain is barren, with no skiers left, most locals don t ski for pleasure
during the week, and tourists try to get home before dark. It s just me on this oasis of the Alps. An
arctic wind sweeps throughout the land, and snow is billowed up into the air like a freezing tornado.
The sun is now hidden and the shimmering stars have come out. I stoop down to retrieve my scraps
and carving which I then cram into my thin wool coat. I latch on my ski s, wrap my fingers around my
poles

  • 2. Summary Of The Les Standiford s Twin Biography Of Both... O Neaka Rendon History 1302 Standiford, Les. Meet You in Hell: Andrew Carnegie, Henry clay Frick, and the bitter partnership that transformed America. New York: Crown Publishers, 2005. Meet You in Hell is the Les Standiford s twin biography of both Henry Clay Frick and Andrew Carnegie. As highlighted by Standiford, both had a similar background. Both of them began their lives as clerks, but to begin amassing riches, they made use of the business connections they had made during their lowly clerk jobs. According to Standiford, the two men embodied the worst and the worst of American capitalism. The book provides an argument of the relationship that existed between the two founders of the American industry. Standiford raises up the danger and majesty of steel manufacturing, the rough and tumbles of the 19th century s big business, and the tense relationship between the ruthless coke magnate and the world s richest man. The dramatic centerpiece of the dual biography is the bloody clash which exists between imported Pinkerton (detectives) and striking steel workers at the homestead of Carnegie s, in July 1892. During the battle, fourteen people died, and much more were injured. Stereotypes are often a generalization or assumption of an individual, and can be positive or negative. Stereotypes appear in the workplace, school, and daily life. There are stereotypes on race, gender, religion, sexuality, social class, professions, weight, and schooling. One example of stereotyping is if one sees a white American female with blonde and blue eyes, one may say she s dingy , dumb , and or typical . The stigma of discrimination in the South has left an everlasting impression and stereotype upon white people. Another belief or stereotype is that all Asians are geniuses. Asian students are stereotyped to be exceedingly smart in the sciences, maths, and arts. In biblical times, there were no assurances that women would be protected when faced with a man who wanted a divorce. Furthermore, women were not allowed to initiate the process by asking for one. As time went on, it was recognized that women needed to be somewhat shielded from actions that her husband could take, which she had no control over. Rabbinic law made four major changes to help the plight of women regarding divorce (Biale p.5). There have been many debates about this clause because the appropriate grounds for divorce are unclear. Some believe that a man can divorce a woman merely because he likes another one better (B. p.74). There is no safeguard against this because it is up to the man s judgment. The requirements of the Ketubah and the Get may not convince the man to stay married. The fact remains that on the one hand; a wife could not initiate a divorce without appealing to a Beit Din, and on the other hand may be divorced without her consent. The Talmud states A woman may be divorced with her consent or without it (B. 81). Rabbenu Gershom made a ruling that banned the divorcement of a woman without her consent. Although this is a positive legislation, a Beit Din has the power to revoke it when they deem necessary. The most problematic law is that while it is not always necessary for a woman to consent to a divorce, a man can give a divorce with only his full consent (Yevamot 112b) (B. 97). It is then up to the courts and the community to try to convince him to give his wife a divorce. Many women have faced this problem of being an Agunah (anchored wife), chained to her husband until he agrees to a divorce. This problem is even more apparent today while religious morals do not always prevail over greedy husbands who wish to bribe their wives for monetary gains. The philosophy of Immanuel Kant, who sought, liberation of the human mind from the dogmatic state of ignorance, had a major impact on the future ideology of revolutionaries.4 It was Enlightenment ideas which challenged people to question religious orthodoxy and use their own intelligence to draw conclusions about the legitimacy of traditional authority. These philosophies were the foundation of modern, egalitarian, democratic societies which would later replace Louis XVI s absolutist monarchy. Enlightenment ideals had profound effects upon the politics of the early and mid nineteenth century. However, a severe backlash against rationalism and liberal ideologies in France caused the return of church state power; while conversely, in the state of Prussia, Enlightenment ideals inspired a suppression of the church s power.5 Whether or not Enlightenment ideals and values were able to root themselves permanently in society, the introduction and widespread acceptance of secular ideas created major changes across Europe. Edward Kennedy quot;Duke quot; Ellington was born in Washington D.C. on April 29, 1899. His parents were James Edward and Daisy Kennedy Ellington. They raised Duke as an only child, until his sister, Ruth, was born when Duke was sixteen years old. Duke, even as a teenager, had a great talent for music. In the beginning of his musical life, Duke began to take a promising interest in a new type of music that would later be called jazz. Duke attracted some of the greatest musicians to join his band. Because of this it has been said that many of Duke s pieces are almost impossible to exactly duplicate without the personal style of the original musicians. One of the strange things that was known about Duke was that his school music teacher, Mrs. Clinkscales, who played the piano, was always the inspiration for him to just sit down and start tinkering around with a few notes that usually became big hits. Two Ælfe Ork wars humiliated the Ælves, resulting in loss of territory to a culture the Ælves deemed derivative and inferior to their own. Part of that lost territory was the Kaku, or Di 1 Islands, largely barren landmasses significant for their strategic location between the two states, and the meaning they have come to hold in power relations between the Ælves and the Orks. Relations 2 between the two states have become even more strained in recent years, as increasingly vocal Orkish nationalists refuse to acknowledge the dispute, and express pride in the military aggression of the Orkish Empire. As a corollary, the Orkish nationalists pride in past military conquests means to the Ælves pride in the war crimes committed by Orkish soldiers at the Rape of Nan in D:37, and undermines efforts by Orkish Primorks since D:95 to convey regret and apologies for perceived injustices committed by the Orkish Empire s military. In the D:90 s during the Ælves rise to 3 economic power, the Ælves responded to the ongoing dispute by deferring conflict in order to maintain equitable trade relations with the Orks, deescalating and preventing expression of anti Ork, nationalist rhetoric. According to Bradley, these features combine to produce feelings of confinement and dark fatality that suggest that the characters cannot escape their destinies. She can do nothing whatever. She cannot retaliate even in speech; no, not even in silent feeling. And the chief reason of her helplessness only makes the sight of her suffering more exquisitely painful. She is helpless because her nature is infinitely sweet and her love absolute. I will also address the growth and challenges I have come upon throughout this semester. • 27. The Differences Between The Renaissance Era And Baroque Era To help one differentiate between the Renaissance Era and Baroque Era Heinrich Wolfflin created the Wolfflin Method. The Wolfflin Method compares the two eras in a masterful way that helps one simplify the differences between the Renaissance and Baroque Eras. The Renaissance Era is represented by linear, planar, closed, and multiplicity elements. All of these elements combined to create a crisp painting where lines and shapes are distinguished. The Baroque Era is represented by painterly, recessional, open, and unity elements. These four elements help create a painting that uses shadows to create dimension and depth within the piece giving the viewer an overall sense of unity. The Wolfflin Method assists the viewer in understanding the differences between the Renaissance and Baroque Era. The first painting to be analyzed is The Last Days of Pompeii, by Karl Bryullov. This painting distinctly displays elements from the Baroque Era. Although this painting has a linear element, which comes from the Renaissance Era, it s still Baroque. The white building that is quickly crumbling has clear defined lines with sharp edges. All of the people displaced in the painting also has defined edges and can be differentiated from one another. This example demonstrates how the linear element is displayed. There are a few groups of people that are on different levels, kneeling, standing, or laying on the floor, creating diagonal lines throughout the painting, showing the recessional element. ... Ontology involves using a nature perspective to establish how things work. The nature of reality can thus be determined by reviewing the four primary research philosophies that are based on epistemology and ontology. • 30. Blockbuster Research Paper American films have been divided into two main categories: Blockbusters and Independent films. In order for a film to be categorized as a blockbuster there has to be heavy advertising and a high production value which calls for an enormous financial budget. Blockbuster films are usually produced by one of the major movie studios such as Warner Brothers or Paramount and star well known actors in order to draw in the audience. There is a misconception that a film is considered a blockbuster based off the success of the film in the cinema and how much it grossed. Unlike blockbusters, Independent films rely heavily on the actual art of filmmaking and less on the popularity and success. These films do not feature famous actors and are usually not shown in theaters. Blockbusters target a wide audience and Independent films generally draw an older and more intellectual crowd. Because blockbusters are solely driven by financial gain, filmmaking by the major studios has become more about business then about the art of film. Classical conditioning is a theory engages a new behavior through the process of association. This theory includes three stages of classical conditioning; the first stage is called unconditioned stimulus, which produces an unconditioned response within an organism. One example of this stage is where a perfume is the unconditioned stimulus, which can create a response of pleasure or desire (unconditioned response). The second stage is during the conditioning where the conditioned stimulus is presented. The conditioned stimulus is the stimulus that does not produce any response related to the unconditioned stimulus. The third stage is what happened after the conditioning, this stage represents the roll of all three conditioning combined and how it can impact the organism. John B. Watson went more in depth about classical conditioning where he created his well know experiment involving a child instead of an animal. Watson s research revolved around an observational method. He noticed Cowpox, which is similar to Smallpox but not as deadly, protected the dairy maids from Smallpox if they contracted the disease from their cows. Cow Pox caused small blisters to form, and a low grade fever but nothing worse. The Cowpox virus was close enough in structure to Smallpox that the antibodies made by the infected person successfully defended against the 25 75% lethal Smallpox virus. Jenner hit upon the idea of breaking open a Cowpox blister on a cow and scratching the liquid inside into the arm of a person. He found that this, indeed did give the person Cowpox. Now all he had to do was to place the person next to someone with Smallpox and see if his theory was correct, were they immune. I noticed that Jenner didn t use himself to test this theory, but an eight year old boy named James Phippsthankfully he was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Laissez Faire Capitalism In The Gilded Age Before the Gilded Age, economic growth came to a halt because of the Depression of 1873. The depression led to the bankruptcy of many banks and railroads, and resulted in hundreds of thousands of people out of work. The Liberal Republican party also emerged as result of the depression. Liberal Republicans were strong advocates for laissez faire policies, where there is no government regulation in businesses or the economy. With this ideology, liberal republicans believed that it would help stimulate economic growth and create more jobs. While liberal republicans were unsuccessful in getting into office, they helped push the Democratic party (who were able to get control of the House in 1784) shift their agenda to supporting laissez faire capitalism. By 1879, The Depression of 1873 had ended and the second Industrial Revolution began. Laissez Faire capitalism became the dominating force of the Industrial Revolution that began during the Gilded Age. The idea that Laissez Faire capitalism could help bring prosperity to the common man was pushed by writer Horatio Alger, who published books that assured young readers that if they were honest, hardworking, and had a good character, they could leave poverty behind and succeed in the new competitive economy brought by the second industrial revolution. This idea was also reinforced through the success of industrialists like John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, and Cornelius Vanderbilt, who came from humble backgrounds. Laissez Faire ... • 47. Matterhorn Descriptive Writing I let the curled shavings fall to the frozen, inky ground, creating a heap of milky white scraps. My blade easily carves through the wood, like a knife going through soft butter. A wolf starts howling in the woods, and distorts my concentration, the blade jams into my finger. Verdammt! I swear under my breath. A carmine liquid seeps out of my wound. I suck on my finger in order to stop the profusive bleeding. I sigh and gaze across the horizon. A cascade of fiery red and flamboyant orange spills out from the sides of the Matterhorn as the sun sinks leisurely below the ice kissed landscape. I raise to my feet and stretch out my cramped legs. I am standing on a small ledge which juts out from the side of the mountain. It has recently snowed so the snow is powdery and deep. To my right, about ten feet below is a forest and to my left there is a massive skiing area. The view is immense, with a perfect view of the Matterhorn s snow capped north side. At the bottom of the mountain lays Zermatt. The mountain is barren, with no skiers left, most locals don t ski for pleasure during the week, and tourists try to get home before dark. It s just me on this oasis of the Alps. An arctic wind sweeps throughout the land, and snow is billowed up into the air like a freezing tornado. The sun is now hidden and the shimmering stars have come out. I stoop down to retrieve my scraps and carving which I then cram into my thin wool coat. I latch on my ski s, wrap my fingers around my poles ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
