Kyle Craig and his Abuse on Adderall
Nearly five years ago, Kyle Craig, a well rounded and bright student at Vanderbilt University, took his
life at the young age of 21. Kyle was described to be a confident, but not arrogant young man. He had
a solid 3.5 grade point average and was extremely active in his fraternity. His parents said he was, ...a
thrill a minute, focused, happy, achieving and social (James). Kyle, in short, seemed to have it all
together. What no one knew is that Kyle illegally looked to Adderall to keep up his I ve got it all
together act. Adderall is a stimulant prescription drug for those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder, also known as ADHD (FDA). Kyle took Adderall illegally and abused it much too often just
to perform better academically and socially. While abusing the drug, Kyle slowly began spiraling into
a dangerous state of psychosis that no one seemed to catch on to. That dangerous spiral led Kyle all
the way in front of a train, taking his own life (James). Kyle is not the only young college student to
suffer from the effects of stimulant or amphetamine drugs like Adderall. Almost 1,000 cases of
psychosis were found to be linked to medications such as Adderall or Ritalin between the years 2000
and 2005 (FDA). Stimulant and Amphetamines are also known to heighten or produce suicidal and
depressive thoughts (FDA). With all of these unsettling facts, 1 in 5 college students abuse these drugs
and use them as study aids (CBN News). For the last

My Role in the Air Force Essay
In this essay, I will discuss my role in the Air Force. As background, I will discuss how my values led
me to select the Air Force as a career choice. In addition, I will highlight my personally significant Air
Force experiences/assignments to date. Finally, I will cover what I see as my contribution to the Air
Force at the micro and macro levels. Starting in high school, I liked many of the aspects the military
had to offer. One thing that really drew me to the military was equality. From my perspective, the
military seemed the most merit based of work environments. In the military, especially in the enlisted
ranks, you know what you have to do to get promoted. I really liked that about the military. At the
time, I did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now I would like to transition into my most important Air Force experiences, to date. My two most
important experiences would have to be my assignment as the deputy budget officer for the 96th Air
Base Wing at Eglin AFB and my recent deployment to Iraq. Beginning chronologically, my
assignment to Eglin was significant because, other than my deployment, it was the most demanding
job I have had so far. As often is the case, we grow the most when under duress. My civilian
supervisor really aided me in the maturation process. She asked a lot of her Lieutenants, but she was
always sure to equip you with the tools you needed to be successful. For example, anytime we had a
budget brief to the Wing Commander, she selected me to brief. That really paid dividends for my
confidence. She also made me the staff analyst for the MSG and Wing Staff. This provided me great
opportunity to work daily with the Resource Advisors (RAs) down at the group and squadron levels. It
benefited me greatly to sit down with the SFS, MSS, and LRS RAs and commanders and get their two
cents on how budget cuts and resource constraints were impacting their squadrons. She also ensured
her folks were recognized for achievement. She took award nominations very seriously, and used them
as teaching tools. She would have me do the initial draft, then sit with me and provide feedback. This
was a great example of leadership. The work she

Summary Of A Separate Peace By John Knowles
In the novel A Separate Peace by John Knowles, many things are shown about friendship. It shows us
how friendship is not always easy and how jealousy, competition and irrational thinking can disrupt a
seemingly strong and secure friendship. On the surface of Gene and Finny s friendship, it seemed that
they were the best of friends and that they did not have any problems. But, all of this changed with
time as most things do. Gene explains, we were best friends at that moment (page
18). This foreshadows how their seemingly extraordinary friendship is going to change. A common
feeling Gene has towards Finny is jealousy. Finny is an athletic, charismatic, and smooth boy who
seems to be able to get out of just about any situation he is put in. ... Show more content on

Along with Gene s newfound thinking, he also begins to act differently. After the accident, Gene
isolates himself. Gene explains, I spent as much time as I could alone in our room, trying to empty my
mind of every thought, to forget where I was, even who I was (page 62).
This quote represents the change in Gene s behavior. Before he was always out with his group of
friends, and now he isolates and tries to forget himself. In friendship, communication of these
thoughts are necessary. But, at Devon this form of communication is frowned upon. For example,
Gene says, exposing a sincere emotion nakedly like that at the Devon School was the next thing to
suicide (page
48). Gene is explaining how expressing emotions is not something that happens at
Devon. Suppression of this much emotion leads to built up feelings later causing Gene to express
these feelings in unpredictable ways later causing Phineas to fall off the tree. A Separate Peace shows
a lot about friendship. Throughout the novel, the reflection of friendship is commonly displayed. It
shows that friendship is not easy. It also shows how jealousy, competition, irrational thinking can twist
and turn solid relationships between

Spanish Cloister
Robert Browning s Soliloquy of a Spanish Cloister reflects a resentful monk who unreasonably
despises his fellow monk, Brother Lawrence. He finds pleasure in physical appearance than on a
spiritual level. He considerably labels himself as a role model of righteousness while wrongly
condemning Brother Lawrence for his wrongdoings. In reality, the speaker ends up revealing his
confessions by attempting to accuse the monk of his own faults. One may wonder about the malice
that the speaker has towards Brother Lawrence. Could it be because he is simply jealous, or is he
insecure? The speaker finds that the more he accentuates the faults of Brother Lawrence, the more
good that he becomes. Although the poem has a lighthearted demeanor, it is a ... Show more content

The speaker s last resort is one of the most malicious acts to consider towards a fellow monk who is
most likely innocent. He states, Or, there s Satan! one might venture / Pledge one s soul to him, yet

hurt Brother Lawrence. He thinks that he can surpass the loophole, but does not realize that he will
still face consequences at the end. It is malpractice to associate oneself with the Devil because it is a
mortal sin. Monks must refrain from committing a mortal sin since it is a betrayal of God. His malice
becomes his self righteousness because he wants no one but himself to become a virtuous person. The
fact that he is attempting to receive aid from the Devil shows how he is desperate to hurt Brother
Lawrence, in order to keep his title as a moral person. The speaker continues by conjuring up a spirit,

Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit Analysis
Throughout Jeanette Winterson s Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit and Christina Rossetti s Selected
Poems , fruit is often used as a symbol to explore deeper meanings within the texts, such as sexuality,
sin and temptation in the form of homosexuality and Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, the psyche
and differing beliefs of religious followers and atheists. This exploration is further illuminated by
Williams A Streetcar Named Desire and provides some insightful views and contradictions. *finish

The use of the *find out what kind of word it is* unpecked has connotations to the idea of virginity
when paired with the noun cherries , and presents the image of something that is untouched and pure.
This would all change once the girls had been subjected to the goblin fruits. If we take the
consumption of the goblin fruits as the loss of innocence and, in this case, virginity, then the poem can
be seen as a warning to Victorian society about the dangers of temptation. If we look at the fable of
Jeanie within the poem, she was tempted by the goblin fruits, which resulted in her becoming ill and
dying. The Victorians didn t like to talk about sex, but they were fascinated with it. This links back to
Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit and the idea of temptation, as Jeanette has to keep her relationships
with Melanie and Katy, and her sexuality hidden, due to the forbidden nature of it, and the views of
the church community. This in turn links back to the idea of forbidden fruit that Adam and Eve
consumed, which caused them to be thrown from the Garden of Eden, and the idea of Paradise. This
comes back full circle to the idea of the forbidden fruit of the

London Dockland Case Study
For places both rural and urban to maintain development and a strong economy they must rebrand. To
keep with the times so to speak place must continue to redevelop in a number of ways. Both areas are
at risk of becoming derelict and poverty struck if they don t regenerate.
One of the main causes of decline is a lack of employment. In many areas with one ruling industry
when the industry collapses the town is left with high levels of unemployment. As countries continue
to develop their primary and secondary sectors shrink as it becomes cheaper for TNC s to outsource
work to other cheaper countries. This among other reasons can leave towns and cities in decline as
there are no longer jobs available and people have to move away for work or stay unemployed which
has bad economic effects.
An example of this happening in an urban area is the London Docklands. In the 19th century it was
the busiest port in the world however by the 1960 s bigger boats were being used and the docks weren
t deep enough for this. The docks were closed leaving lots of derelict land, few jobs and lots of social
problems. However the docklands were successfully rebranded with the introduction of the LDDC. In
1981, the London Docklands Development Corporation set about regenerating London Docklands ...

The decline in agriculture in the UK has reduced employment and caused economic problems in rural
areas. The lack of job opportunities results in out migration of young people, resulting in an ageing
population. Eventually a spiral of decline happens as problems breed problems rebranding is needed to
break this. Attracting new business and tourists through rebranding will increase employment and
services. This will then encourage young people to stay in the area, and new people to move to the
area. In rural areas for the most part there won t be any flagship projects and community projects and

The Pros And Cons Of Net Neutrality
We all know the Internet, and use it in daily basis like entertainment and work, and many other types
of usage for the Internet, and we use it freely with almost no boundaries that s what s called Net
Neutrality
. The F.C.C. (Federal Communication Commission) is trying to take that freedom away from all users
and consumers in the United States by limiting accessibility, and speed for all type of consumers of
the
Internet by repealing the Net Neutrality which will allow the ISPs (Internet Service Provider) to have
more control over the Internet usage of the consumers. According to the chairman of the F.C.C. Ajit
Pai a former lawyer for Verizon, that repealing Net Neutrality will increase the ISP s profit and
improve the service quality they provide for the consumers. A lot of people showed their disagreement
over the issue, and followed by many disappointment and disapproval of big characters, companies
and websites. While ISPs are regulated right now to treat everyone equally and fairly, Trump s
administration and the F.C.C. s goal is to repeal the Net Neutrality, and give control of the Internet to
the ISPs in the U.S., even though the consumers do not support the repeal and protested against it for
various reasons, but the F.C.C. still want to give the ISPs control of the Internet to increase their
income, and have more privileges over the Internet.
Many people are not aware of what s going to happen after the repeal of Net Neutrality, and

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages For Bathroom...
Whether you are already in the midst of your in depth house renovation, adding on a bathroom, or you
re simply planning a redesign, considering the bathroom countertops will eventually come into play.
This often overlooked detail can mean all the difference between the appearance of a cohesive
bathroom design and an unorganized, disruptive flow. Let s consider a few materials and designs for
bathroom countertops.
Materials
These options are often found in bathrooms due to their practicality, durability, and beauty. Some are
more expensive and higher maintenance than others, but all are good choices for a bathroom
countertop.
Natural Stone

Modern? Rustic? Vintage? Elegant? The shapes within your bathroom, even for your countertops, will
play a role here. Sharp, squared edges typically resemble modern, minimalistic looks, while rounded
or oval edges and curves work better for traditional, classic, and elegant looks.
Sinks, Faucets, Backsplashes
As you look for the right countertop, you should also consider what kind of sink, faucet, and
backsplash you have in mind. Some countertop materials don t work well with certain sink styles and
other countertops might not form a seamless backsplash, which means more cracks and crevices for
bacteria, and therefore requiring more cleaning. The last thing you want is to purchase your countertop
and for it not to work with the design you envisioned.
Making the Decision
There are numerous bathroom countertop choices available for various purposes. Some may appear
more high end, while requiring more work, and others may not look as refined, but be more durable.
Remember to weigh the pros and cons, and you ll be installing your bathroom countertop in no

The Importance Of Justice In Ian Mcewan s Atonement
During the course one s life, one will encounter situations in which one strongly feels a particular way
despite a lack of evidence. Often, the strength of such convictions will lead one to act rashly,
projecting one s views onto others due to one s emotional state. This rashness can lead to one making
decisions that will harm both oneself and those around one. The rifts that are created as a result of
such difficulties can lead to tension and differences between individuals for years to come. More often
than not, one must find a way to be forgiven for what one has done, as only then can one obtain peace
with others and oneself. In Ian McEwan s Atonement, Briony Tallis s struggle on her path to
understanding and correcting an injustice demonstrates the manner in which one can be forgiven,
showing that in order to achieve forgiveness one must take the path to righting one s wrongdoings and
admitting the truth of one s situation. To begin, the naïvety and distorted views of reality that Briony
Tallis possess reveals her inability to understand the meaning of justice. Briony, who is only thirteen at
the time, views the adult world from a child s perspective, seeing adult acts through the lense of
melodrama ( Atonement 7). As result, in reading Robbie s letter she immediately [casts] herself as her
sister s protector (McEwan 115), and thus imagines that Robbie is attacking Cecilia in the library. This
can be seen in her perception that Cecilia s forearm was raised

Golden Fleece Vs Odyssey
When reading looking throughout this course we have learned a numerous amount of information on
the Hellenistic period, all from the time of before Alexander to simply learning about the literature and
art. When looking at both sources the Odyssey and Jason and the Golden Fleece we see that both
represent the heroic Greek role models and comparing the two we see how the characteristics of the
new Hellenistic world through Jason is embodied. Jason and the Golden Fleece is a poetic story about
a young man who goes on a heroic journey to retrieve the Golden Fleece. Apollonius Rhodius wrote

Jason through her offering wants to honor the marriage, so Medea uses her spells to put the snake to
sleep and he takes the fleece and travels back to Argo. The Colchian army pursues them and they were
finally caught in the middle by many different ships near the island of Brygean Islands. A peace talk or
deal was discussed, which was that Jason would be able to keep the fleece because Jason did really
win the golden fleece after all, but Medea s fate would be decided by the neighboring kings because of
the acts she did to let Jason win the battle or tournament. Medea and Jason come up with their own
plan and ended up committing a brutal murder of Medea s half brother. Later on Jason and Medea get
married in the sacred cave and the bridal bed was draped with the Golden Fleece. The Argonauts are
trying to return home but run into trouble with their boat being taken off course to home. The story
ends with the Argonauts visit to the island of Anaphe and end up establishing a festival competition in
honor of Apollo and Aegina. To many readers it will seem to many that Jason really went through
some very difficult tasks just to get the what he was traveling to do. We see that not only does he show
proof that he and his crew could handle anything. Jason is considered to be a very ordinary man who
shows a huge strength and heroism. He also does have his flaws and weakness for women. He also isn

with a close friend or family member who becomes abusive and aggressive because of drug or alcohol

abusive father and a broken home. Despite the initial light atmosphere of the poem Theodore Roethke

Someone has to lead in a waltz, which highlights the father s control over the small boy. It isn t
because the boy is being led, but instead the way the father is leading is what makes the dance not
easy. Roethke uses the verb waltz to impose a sense of joy to the poem, because on literal level the
waltz should be easy and smooth, but for the boy and his father it isn t because apparently, their lives
together aren t easy. Continuing the tone of the first stanza, in the second stanza of the poem the word
romped makes their waltz sound carefree, but they romped until the pans/ Slid from the kitchen shelf.
Lines 5 and 6 show how their waltz is causing a violent disruption in their home that even the boys
mother could not tolerate. Again with something that sounds as care free as dancing with your father
Roethke implies an undertone of disturbance and violence that is inevitably taking a toll on their
family and home life. Likewise in the third stanza the speaker mentions that the hand that held his
wrist was battered on one knuckle. Undoubtedly, a hand holding a wrist is more aggressive and
dominant than just a hand holding a hand like in a typical waltz, which is suppose to a smooth and
easy glide. The fathers hand holding the speakers wrist shows both the difference in the size of their
hands and that the speaker waltzes unwillingly. The fact that Roethke chooses the word battered

Theme Of Identity In Twelfth Night
In the play Twelfth Night, Shakespeare delves into the concept of personal identity through his
exploration of the character Viola. After discovering that her twin brother is dead after a boat wreck,
Viola decides to reshape her identity in the new country she is in. She hides her maiden clothes with
the sea captain and takes on the name Cesario. By taking on a new name, and not the name of her
brother Sebastian, Viola is not miming her twin, but instead forming a male identity of her own. As
Viola makes new acquaintances under the identity Cesario, she alludes to the trickery in her identity, I
am not that I play (1.5 175). Viola controls her own identity and since she knows that biologically she
is not a man, she can hint at her biological identity accordingly. She shapes her identity by deciding
how she wants to be viewed by others. When Olivia, the countess in the play who forms a liking to
Cesario, asks Viola What are you? (I.5 204), Viola responds What I am, and what I would, are as
secret as maidenhead (I.5 207 8). Again, Viola admits that her identity is a secret and that she is not
who she appears to be. Throughout the play Viola is implying her identity is a false one, however, the
other characters in the play do not pick up on this trick. The concept of forming one s personal identity
is also influenced by others perspectives. Viola may try and refer that she is not who she is, but the
other characters in the play have already shaped their perspectives of

Fear Of Death In Poe s Premature Burial
The party in the Masque of the Red Death can be seen as a result of Prince Prospero s fear of
premature death since his group is locked away in a fantastically decorated abbey, hiding from the
disease festering around them in comfort and security (Poe 319). To be sure, the Prince has good
reason to hide, the plague results in agonizing death for all who contract it (Poe 319). More likely is
that Prospero s motives for his actions have nothing to do with fear of death, and the disease outside
the abbey is just a reason for the Prince to have a party. After all, he does not sound like someone in
fear of death, premature or otherwise; his mood is described as happy and dauntless and sagacious
(Poe 319), not at all fearful. Upon meeting the Red ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because his condition resembles death so closely, Poe is faced with the very real possibility that he
will be buried alive. He describes being buried alive as a fairly common occurrence, (Poe 309 310),
strengthening the argument that his actions are a result of true fear of death. How the two characters
end up is important because it allows some insight into how Poe intended to portray the motivations
that lead each character to the situations they found themselves in. Prospero ends up stabbed in front
of all his friends by his own dagger (Poe 322). While Poe overcomes his fear when he awakens
thinking he has been buried alive, resulting in him living a fuller life (Poe 318). Ralph Waldo Emerson
was a Transcendentalist author, so he explored concepts beyond the scope of science. That is to say,
non empirical concepts that cannot be known through observation, the senses, or experience, without

While a man can see that a rose is beautiful, or feel the beauty in the weight and smoothness of a
strand of pearls, he can never know that a thing is beautiful by seeing or touching it. This is why
Emerson describes beauty as an eternal fugitive (75) in Ode to Beauty. Emerson s philosophy can be

Key Elements For Tissue And Organ Regeneration
Introduction Tissue engineering is an interdisciplinary approach that basically replaces, restore the
function and regenerate the damaged cell or tissue using biological substitutes. Succinctly,
extracellular matrix (ECM) in human tissue is a key element for tissue and organ regeneration. It
provides a convenient environment for the cellular attachment, growth and migration stimulate by
specific signals. This solid matrix has a complex mixture of structural and functional proteins that
serve as a reliable source of nutrient for the cells. ECM also associated with the cell behaviour, tissue
differentiation, organisation and neovascularisation. In tissue engineering, the suitable scaffolds are
use to act as an ECM analogue (1). The various roles and complicated composition of ECM become a
great challenge for the scaffolds to mimic the native ECM in repairing the diseased or damaged tissue.
Thus, it is important to develop the ideal scaffolds with optimal properties and architecture since its
mechanical characteristics will greatly affect the activity of cell adhesion, proliferation and
differentiation. Apparently, the biomaterial used in fabrication of scaffolds may influence its
significant features, such as biodegradability, bioactivity and porosity. The bioactivity, including cell
adhesion, cell alignment and interaction between scaffolds and cellular components could be enhanced
by adding the biological cues onto the biomaterials. Besides that, it is also important for

Old Yeller is a coming of age novel set in 1860s Texas that details the relationship between the Coates

Tutankhamun Investigation
British archaeologist Howard Carter and his team (under the control of Lord Carnarvon, the
archaeologist who funded the search) were the first to discover the steps leading to the tomb of King
Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt on November 4, 1922. Carter landed in Egypt in
1891, determined to find one of the remaining ancient Egyptian tombs; Tutankhamun s. However,
there was doubt the tomb even existed. Carter stated that there were several pieces of evidence a
faience cup, a piece of gold foil, and a cache of funerary items which all bore the name of
Tutankhamun already found that convinced him that the tomb of King Tut had not yet been found.1
Because of this information, Carter believed he knew the specific area of where they might the Boy

Carter had used the famous methodology The Grid System developed by Sir Mortimer Wheeler to

string. They then numbered and excavated each square one at a time (leaving a wall or baulk in
between). After 5 years of searching, Carter had not much to show. This left Carnarvon to believe he
was wasting his money, and thus withdrew his funding. However Carter insisted he was close and if
they were not to find anything, Carter would pay for it himself. Carnarvon agreed, having nothing to

The Energy Of Energy Usage
Introduction
Historically, the distillation of alcohol (spirits, wine and vodka) has been a high end consumer in
terms of energy usage. According to U.S. Dept. of Energy, there are more than 40,000 distillation
columns in North America and they consume 40% of the total energy used to operate plants in
chemical industries [1]. As a result, researchers have focused their efforts towards developing
distillation columns that are more compact, utilize compressors to recirculate latent heat and possess
more effective separation technology in order to reduce energy consumption.
The principal topics of research that pose effective solutions to these present day energy challenges
are: the use of divided wall columns (DWC), self heat recuperation ... Show more content on

[3] shows that by using dividing wall columns, the uninstalled equipment cost for the total column
configuration is reduced by about 10%. The capital costs savings result from a reduction equipment
quantity. There are also indirect benefits; a dividing wall column requires less plot area, shorter piping,
electrical runs and smaller storm runoff system [3]. When compared to a conventional two column
system, capital costs savings of up to 30% is typical [2]. In summary, fully thermally coupled
columns/configurations/ arrangements require less energy than conventional counterparts, because of
providing operating conditions that avoid or minimize entropy of mixing formation, which in case of
conventional configurations occurs, more or less pronounced, at the feed stage, the ends of the
columns, and due to remixing of internal flows [8].
Self Heat Recuperation Technology
In order to separate ethanol contents from water, enormous amounts of heat must be applied to the
azeotropic mixture during distillation. According to Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, an
ethanol water mixture must be distilled at 78.3 degrees Celsius to reach the 80 proof content level of
standard vodka [9]. As a result, the heat needed to distill vodka creates the need to explore sources of
recycled energy. As investigated by Matsuda et al., self heat recuperation technology utilizes not only
latent heat but also the sensible

Should College Athletes Get paid
CaDerius Andrews Ms.Teague Eng.102 30 April 2014 Are college athlete s players or employees? The
idea of paying a college athlete appears to be outrageous to some. The thought of giving someone
money for something they have chosen to do may not appear to be fair. The greatest concern is where
to draw the line. Should the decision be based on the amount of money and fame the program
generates? Why should athletes be treated special and receive compensation for their contribution to
the school? One major factor is that athletes make numerous sacrifices beyond that of a nonathletic
student. Many athletes can t seek employment to help offset the expenses of college because they are
on the field or court for the majority of their day. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After all, it is the same player, same sport, just a different showground. They devote just as much time
and effort to the team sport as the pros in addition to balancing school and the requirements of the

obligations as well, which poses an even greater challenge. College athletes are exploited by their
schools, which make millions of dollars off of them. The NCAA and professional leagues can work
together to institute a plan to compensate these athletes and remedy all these problems. Student
athletes need money just like any other college students, and many of them need it even more. Many
of these talented athletes come from a disadvantaged background and do not have the financial
support needed to sustain from home. They are driven to do there very best to hopefully change their

The Challenge of Love
Some of the biggest challenges in relationships are rooted between the push and pull of give and take.
People tend to enter into relationships to gain something: they re trying to find someone who s going
to make them feel good. In reality, the only way love is true is if the relationship comes from a place
of giving.
For some love is primarily taking, for some love is primarily giving and for some it is more evenly a
matter of give take . A person driven by intense need often attempts to control the relationship, taking
to fulfill their personal needs. When the emphasis is on taking, love becomes very threatening. Love
takes on many forms, but true love is not one of power and control.

Janine was able to see an honesty and openness in Lois that at times he didn t see in himself. Her
ability to see Louis for the man he was and not his actions was a demonstration of her true love and

man (p.280) but she was able to accept him and his personal truth, without judgement. It was Louis s

How Does Chinua Achebe Depict Ibo Culture In Things Fall...
How does Achebe depict Ibo culture in Things Fall Apart ? Chinua Achebe s, Things Fall Apart, is a
story of a traditional village in Nigeria from inside Umuofia around the late 1800s. This novel depicts
late African history and shows how the British administrative structure, in the form of the European
Anglican Church, imposed its religion and trappings on the cultures of Africa, which they believed
was uncivilized. This missionary zeal subjugated large native populations. Consequently, the native
traditions gradually disappeared and in time the whole local social structure within which the
indigenous people had lived successfully for centuries was destroyed. Achebe spends the first half of

Even though the Ibo are described as primitive and savage by Mr. Smith, one of the missionary church
leaders, the tribesmen evidently show their etiquette through their mannerisms. Proverbs, a form of
Ibo mannerisms, are used quite frequently throughout this novel as the art of conversation is regarded
very highly [by the Ibo], and proverbs are the palm oil with which words are eaten. (Achebe.
P.5:1986) The Ibo people are also not as violent and savage as many of the missionaries believed. This
is shown when a villager from the Mbaino village kills a woman from the Ibo village, the Ibo village

peaceful agreement on the reparations from the Mbaino tribe. ... [A]t the end it was decided to follow
the normal course of action. An ultimatum was immediately dispatched to Mbaino asking them to
choose between wars on the one hand, and on the other the offer of a young man and a virgin as
compensation. (P.8) Achebe also expands on the reflection of the Ibo peoples of being civil, depicting
the civilised aspects of the Ibo religion. Another example similar to the peaceful reparation, previously

An Examination of Genders in World Regions
In societies past and present, there have been a variety of ways in which the genders have valued.
Although the regions of our world value different icons, gods, or elements, there is one thing in which
all cultures value, and that is the people of their society. Since people are high on a culture s priority
list, they value people in different way. Some cultures decide that one sex is superior over the other.
Although everyone is valued, there are certain times when some sexes are favored over the other.
There have been many primary documents which show us which sex the different cultures value. This

Today s society is focused on looking flawless, and achieving that perfect look. This is driven by the
idea that everyone should look like supermodels and actors on television. Many people go to different
extremes to become what they perceive as perfect . That is when Botox was introduced to help achieve
these desired looks, which are in popular demand. Botox is a minimally invasive and less expensive
cosmetic procedure. Botox injections have been used for frown lines between the eyes and smoothing
of facial wrinkles. It is also used for those stubborn wrinkles around the corner of the eyes, also

people ill, but what does this have to do with Botox? Well 7 more strains were discovered 70 years
later by another doctor, also investigating food poisoning, expanding on Dr. Kerner s discovery, and
found seven strains of botulinum toxin, four of which were harmful to humans. They considered using
the four bad stains of botulinum toxin as a weapon of war. They would inject the toxin into pills and
poison high ranking officials on the opposite side. Luckily this project was abandoned, which gave
researchers the chance to see the good in Botox. Science researchers discovered that injecting small
amounts of Botulinum toxin type A, which is one of the three less toxic strains, into hyperactive
muscles relaxed them. In the 1960 s they began to experiment with its helpful side effects, botulinum
toxin type A became the go to toxin in all research labs. The FDA approved botulinum toxin type A for
use on humans in the 1980 s, for everything from treating facial spasms to vocal spasms. Botox
became so popular that there was actually a Botox drought in 1997! Botox not only has medical
benefits, but is also is a safe and effective cosmetic treatment. In fact, Botox is the number one non

Essay on Tupac is Alive, Not Dead
In the same fashion that Elvis defined Rock n Roll; Tupac Shakur defined the hip hop music scene, as
we know it today. What made Tupac (also known as 2Pac, or Makaveli) so special were his enormous
talent, his on screen friendly looks, and the sense that he was real and talked the talk, while walking

the Inca Indian that was sentenced to death by the Spaniards. He was originally from Brooklyn, New
York. Tupac spent a lot of time moving around as he was growing up. He was the son of a Black

Tupac would sign to later on, posted $1.4 million dollars in bail to get Tupac out of prison. He

Non-Adherence To Organ Transplantation
Background
Organ transplantation is a surgical procedure of replacing a failing or diseased organ with a healthier
donor organ. In 2011, nearly 80% of 4500 Canadians needing an organ transplant are waiting for a
donor. Of which, 35% died while waiting for an organ. In 2014, 2356 organs were transplanted and
over 4500 patients were still waiting for the donor. The statistics prove that organ transplantation is
critical and the transplanted organ must stay healthy for the rest of the recipient s life. The immune
system of the transplant patient can recognize the antigens on the transplant organ as foreign bodies
and attacks. To prevent this reaction, transplant patients are prescribed immunosuppressive drugs.

Ireland Fits Well Into Arend Lijphart s Consensus Model...
Scotland fits well into Arend Lijphart s consensus model of democracy, however only to a certain
extent. Arend Lijphart s strategy of the consensus model is how majoritarian a government is. The
consensus model aims to share out power so that it is not all down to the one governing party. The
consensus model is very important when it comes to Scotland as it can be argued that is only effective
for highly divided societies. There are a few significant elements such as party systems, proportional
representation and the comparison between the Scotland and New Zealand which will be investigated
in this essay.
Arend Lijphart could argue that Scotland is moving away from a firm two party system and drawing
closer towards a multi party system. Currently in Scotland, the Scottish National Party (SNP) is the
largest party in the country, with two medium parties which are the Scottish Conservatives and
Unionist Party along with the Scottish Labour Party. Moreover, the shape in which the Scottish
Parliament was designed is to promote consensus and grown up debate rather than the set up of
Westminster as it a confrontational style of politics. There are also two smaller parties which are the
Scottish Green Party and the Scottish Liberal Democrats. The multiparty system enables more than
one party to take charge of the country as it is trying to get as many people as possible governing for
the country which can be extremely beneficial as it allows power sharing and therefore in time

Abstract
This report presents an alternative energy is any energy source that from fossil fuel. We need to turn to
alternative energy in general. Firstly, we were in danger of ruining the planet s climate through fossil
fuel emissions. Furthermore, we cannot keep using fossil fuels forever that will run out someday [1].
In addition, the problem of the current energy that we can focus was energy security and independence
viewpoint because our nation has increased its dependence on foreign oil supplies instead of
decreasing it especially from nations under the rule of a dictator or unstable countries where human
rights violations are common [2].
1.0 Introduction
Nowadays, many power stations across the world burn fossil fuels to generate energy. When fossil
fuels are burned to generate energy, they lead to increased concentrations of carbon dioxide and
Sulphur dioxide into the atmosphere which contributes to global warming. However, stocks of fossil
fuels are limited and alternatives need to be found. Alternative energy sources are a popular topic of
conversion these days, as many of them believe that they can hold a promising solution to meet our

  • 2. Kyle Craig and his Abuse on Adderall Nearly five years ago, Kyle Craig, a well rounded and bright student at Vanderbilt University, took his life at the young age of 21. Kyle was described to be a confident, but not arrogant young man. He had a solid 3.5 grade point average and was extremely active in his fraternity. His parents said he was, ...a thrill a minute, focused, happy, achieving and social (James). Kyle, in short, seemed to have it all together. What no one knew is that Kyle illegally looked to Adderall to keep up his I ve got it all together act. Adderall is a stimulant prescription drug for those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, also known as ADHD (FDA). Kyle took Adderall illegally and abused it much too often just to perform better academically and socially. While abusing the drug, Kyle slowly began spiraling into a dangerous state of psychosis that no one seemed to catch on to. That dangerous spiral led Kyle all the way in front of a train, taking his own life (James). Kyle is not the only young college student to suffer from the effects of stimulant or amphetamine drugs like Adderall. Almost 1,000 cases of psychosis were found to be linked to medications such as Adderall or Ritalin between the years 2000 and 2005 (FDA). Stimulant and Amphetamines are also known to heighten or produce suicidal and depressive thoughts (FDA). With all of these unsettling facts, 1 in 5 college students abuse these drugs and use them as study aids (CBN News). For the last ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My Role in the Air Force Essay In this essay, I will discuss my role in the Air Force. As background, I will discuss how my values led me to select the Air Force as a career choice. In addition, I will highlight my personally significant Air Force experiences/assignments to date. Finally, I will cover what I see as my contribution to the Air Force at the micro and macro levels. Starting in high school, I liked many of the aspects the military had to offer. One thing that really drew me to the military was equality. From my perspective, the military seemed the most merit based of work environments. In the military, especially in the enlisted ranks, you know what you have to do to get promoted. I really liked that about the military. At the time, I did not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now I would like to transition into my most important Air Force experiences, to date. My two most important experiences would have to be my assignment as the deputy budget officer for the 96th Air Base Wing at Eglin AFB and my recent deployment to Iraq. Beginning chronologically, my assignment to Eglin was significant because, other than my deployment, it was the most demanding job I have had so far. As often is the case, we grow the most when under duress. My civilian supervisor really aided me in the maturation process. She asked a lot of her Lieutenants, but she was always sure to equip you with the tools you needed to be successful. For example, anytime we had a budget brief to the Wing Commander, she selected me to brief. That really paid dividends for my confidence. She also made me the staff analyst for the MSG and Wing Staff. This provided me great opportunity to work daily with the Resource Advisors (RAs) down at the group and squadron levels. It benefited me greatly to sit down with the SFS, MSS, and LRS RAs and commanders and get their two cents on how budget cuts and resource constraints were impacting their squadrons. She also ensured her folks were recognized for achievement. She took award nominations very seriously, and used them as teaching tools. She would have me do the initial draft, then sit with me and provide feedback. This was a great example of leadership. The work she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Summary Of A Separate Peace By John Knowles In the novel A Separate Peace by John Knowles, many things are shown about friendship. It shows us how friendship is not always easy and how jealousy, competition and irrational thinking can disrupt a seemingly strong and secure friendship. On the surface of Gene and Finny s friendship, it seemed that they were the best of friends and that they did not have any problems. But, all of this changed with time as most things do. Gene explains, we were best friends at that moment (page 18). This foreshadows how their seemingly extraordinary friendship is going to change. A common feeling Gene has towards Finny is jealousy. Finny is an athletic, charismatic, and smooth boy who seems to be able to get out of just about any situation he is put in. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along with Gene s newfound thinking, he also begins to act differently. After the accident, Gene isolates himself. Gene explains, I spent as much time as I could alone in our room, trying to empty my mind of every thought, to forget where I was, even who I was (page 62). This quote represents the change in Gene s behavior. Before he was always out with his group of friends, and now he isolates and tries to forget himself. In friendship, communication of these thoughts are necessary. But, at Devon this form of communication is frowned upon. For example, Gene says, exposing a sincere emotion nakedly like that at the Devon School was the next thing to suicide (page 48). Gene is explaining how expressing emotions is not something that happens at Devon. Suppression of this much emotion leads to built up feelings later causing Gene to express these feelings in unpredictable ways later causing Phineas to fall off the tree. A Separate Peace shows a lot about friendship. Throughout the novel, the reflection of friendship is commonly displayed. It shows that friendship is not easy. It also shows how jealousy, competition, irrational thinking can twist and turn solid relationships between ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Spanish Cloister Robert Browning s Soliloquy of a Spanish Cloister reflects a resentful monk who unreasonably despises his fellow monk, Brother Lawrence. He finds pleasure in physical appearance than on a spiritual level. He considerably labels himself as a role model of righteousness while wrongly condemning Brother Lawrence for his wrongdoings. In reality, the speaker ends up revealing his confessions by attempting to accuse the monk of his own faults. One may wonder about the malice that the speaker has towards Brother Lawrence. Could it be because he is simply jealous, or is he insecure? The speaker finds that the more he accentuates the faults of Brother Lawrence, the more good that he becomes. The speaker wants to bargain with the Devil in order to hurt Brother Lawrence. He thinks that he can surpass the loophole, but does not realize that he will still face consequences at the end. It is malpractice to associate oneself with the Devil because it is a mortal sin. Monks must refrain from committing a mortal sin since it is a betrayal of God. His malice becomes his self righteousness because he wants no one but himself to become a virtuous person. Oranges Are Not The Only Fruit Analysis Throughout Jeanette Winterson s Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit and Christina Rossetti s Selected Poems , fruit is often used as a symbol to explore deeper meanings within the texts, such as sexuality, sin and temptation in the form of homosexuality and Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, the psyche and differing beliefs of religious followers and atheists. This exploration is further illuminated by Williams A Streetcar Named Desire and provides some insightful views and contradictions. *finish introduction* The repetition of the noun fruit is used to highlight the differing beliefs that make up the church community in Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit ; fruit salad, fruit pie, fruit for fools, fruited punch. The use of the *find out what kind of word it is* unpecked has connotations to the idea of virginity when paired with the noun cherries , and presents the image of something that is untouched and pure. This would all change once the girls had been subjected to the goblin fruits. If we take the consumption of the goblin fruits as the loss of innocence and, in this case, virginity, then the poem can be seen as a warning to Victorian society about the dangers of temptation. If we look at the fable of Jeanie within the poem, she was tempted by the goblin fruits, which resulted in her becoming ill and dying. The Victorians didn t like to talk about sex, but they were fascinated with it. This links back to Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit and the idea of temptation, as Jeanette has to keep her relationships with Melanie and Katy, and her sexuality hidden, due to the forbidden nature of it, and the views of the church community. This in turn links back to the idea of forbidden fruit that Adam and Eve consumed, which caused them to be thrown from the Garden of Eden, and the idea of Paradise. This comes back full circle to the idea of the forbidden fruit of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. London Dockland Case Study For places both rural and urban to maintain development and a strong economy they must rebrand. To keep with the times so to speak place must continue to redevelop in a number of ways. Both areas are at risk of becoming derelict and poverty struck if they don t regenerate. One of the main causes of decline is a lack of employment. In many areas with one ruling industry when the industry collapses the town is left with high levels of unemployment. As countries continue to develop their primary and secondary sectors shrink as it becomes cheaper for TNC s to outsource work to other cheaper countries. This among other reasons can leave towns and cities in decline as there are no longer jobs available and people have to move away for work or stay unemployed which has bad economic effects. An example of this happening in an urban area is the London Docklands. In the 19th century it was the busiest port in the world however by the 1960 s bigger boats were being used and the docks weren t deep enough for this. The docks were closed leaving lots of derelict land, few jobs and lots of social problems. However the docklands were successfully rebranded with the introduction of the LDDC. The Pros And Cons Of Net Neutrality We all know the Internet, and use it in daily basis like entertainment and work, and many other types of usage for the Internet, and we use it freely with almost no boundaries that s what s called Net Neutrality . The F.C.C. (Federal Communication Commission) is trying to take that freedom away from all users and consumers in the United States by limiting accessibility, and speed for all type of consumers of the Internet by repealing the Net Neutrality which will allow the ISPs (Internet Service Provider) to have more control over the Internet usage of the consumers. According to the chairman of the F.C.C. Ajit Pai a former lawyer for Verizon, that repealing Net Neutrality will increase the ISP s profit and improve the service quality they provide for the consumers. A lot of people showed their disagreement over the issue, and followed by many disappointment and disapproval of big characters, companies and websites. While ISPs are regulated right now to treat everyone equally and fairly, Trump s administration and the F.C.C. s goal is to repeal the Net Neutrality, and give control of the Internet to the ISPs in the U.S., even though the consumers do not support the repeal and protested against it for various reasons, but the F.C.C. still want to give the ISPs control of the Internet to increase their income, and have more privileges over the Internet. • 15. The Importance Of Justice In Ian Mcewan s Atonement During the course one s life, one will encounter situations in which one strongly feels a particular way despite a lack of evidence. Often, the strength of such convictions will lead one to act rashly, projecting one s views onto others due to one s emotional state. This rashness can lead to one making decisions that will harm both oneself and those around one. The rifts that are created as a result of such difficulties can lead to tension and differences between individuals for years to come. More often than not, one must find a way to be forgiven for what one has done, as only then can one obtain peace with others and oneself. In Ian McEwan s Atonement, Briony Tallis s struggle on her path to understanding and correcting an injustice demonstrates the manner in which one can be forgiven, showing that in order to achieve forgiveness one must take the path to righting one s wrongdoings and admitting the truth of one s situation. To begin, the naïvety and distorted views of reality that Briony Tallis possess reveals her inability to understand the meaning of justice. Briony, who is only thirteen at the time, views the adult world from a child s perspective, seeing adult acts through the lense of melodrama ( Atonement 7). A peace talk or deal was discussed, which was that Jason would be able to keep the fleece because Jason did really win the golden fleece after all, but Medea s fate would be decided by the neighboring kings because of the acts she did to let Jason win the battle or tournament. Medea and Jason come up with their own plan and ended up committing a brutal murder of Medea s half brother. A lot of us have experienced first hand or known someone who has had the unfortunate experience of dealing with a close friend or family member who becomes abusive and aggressive because of drug or alcohol related problems. My Papa s waltz is a poem that tells the story of a young boy dealing with an abusive father and a broken home. Despite the initial light atmosphere of the poem Theodore Roethke uses strong and powerful language to convey an underlined meaning to their dance. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Someone has to lead in a waltz, which highlights the father s control over the small boy. It isn t because the boy is being led, but instead the way the father is leading is what makes the dance not easy. Roethke uses the verb waltz to impose a sense of joy to the poem, because on literal level the waltz should be easy and smooth, but for the boy and his father it isn t because apparently, their lives together aren t easy. Continuing the tone of the first stanza, in the second stanza of the poem the word romped makes their waltz sound carefree, but they romped until the pans/ Slid from the kitchen shelf. Lines 5 and 6 show how their waltz is causing a violent disruption in their home that even the boys mother could not tolerate. Again with something that sounds as care free as dancing with your father Roethke implies an undertone of disturbance and violence that is inevitably taking a toll on their family and home life. Likewise in the third stanza the speaker mentions that the hand that held his wrist was battered on one knuckle. Undoubtedly, a hand holding a wrist is more aggressive and dominant than just a hand holding a hand like in a typical waltz, which is suppose to a smooth and easy glide. • 18. Theme Of Identity In Twelfth Night In the play Twelfth Night, Shakespeare delves into the concept of personal identity through his exploration of the character Viola. After discovering that her twin brother is dead after a boat wreck, Viola decides to reshape her identity in the new country she is in. She hides her maiden clothes with the sea captain and takes on the name Cesario. By taking on a new name, and not the name of her brother Sebastian, Viola is not miming her twin, but instead forming a male identity of her own. As Viola makes new acquaintances under the identity Cesario, she alludes to the trickery in her identity, I am not that I play (1.5 175). Viola controls her own identity and since she knows that biologically she is not a man, she can hint at her biological identity accordingly. She shapes her identity by deciding how she wants to be viewed by others. When Olivia, the countess in the play who forms a liking to Cesario, asks Viola What are you? (I.5 204), Viola responds What I am, and what I would, are as secret as maidenhead (I.5 207 8). Again, Viola admits that her identity is a secret and that she is not who she appears to be. Throughout the play Viola is implying her identity is a false one, however, the other characters in the play do not pick up on this trick. The concept of forming one s personal identity is also influenced by others perspectives. Viola may try and refer that she is not who she is, but the other characters in the play have already shaped their perspectives of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 19. Fear Of Death In Poe s Premature Burial The party in the Masque of the Red Death can be seen as a result of Prince Prospero s fear of premature death since his group is locked away in a fantastically decorated abbey, hiding from the disease festering around them in comfort and security (Poe 319). To be sure, the Prince has good reason to hide, the plague results in agonizing death for all who contract it (Poe 319). More likely is that Prospero s motives for his actions have nothing to do with fear of death, and the disease outside the abbey is just a reason for the Prince to have a party. After all, he does not sound like someone in fear of death, premature or otherwise; his mood is described as happy and dauntless and sagacious (Poe 319), not at all fearful. Upon meeting the Red ... He describes being buried alive as a fairly common occurrence, (Poe 309 310), strengthening the argument that his actions are a result of true fear of death. How the two characters end up is important because it allows some insight into how Poe intended to portray the motivations that lead each character to the situations they found themselves in. Prospero ends up stabbed in front of all his friends by his own dagger (Poe 322). While Poe overcomes his fear when he awakens thinking he has been buried alive, resulting in him living a fuller life (Poe 318). Ralph Waldo Emerson was a Transcendentalist author, so he explored concepts beyond the scope of science. That is to say, non empirical concepts that cannot be known through observation, the senses, or experience, without pattern. The concept of beauty is non empirical because it cannot be fully understood by observation. While a man can see that a rose is beautiful, or feel the beauty in the weight and smoothness of a strand of pearls, he can never know that a thing is beautiful by seeing or touching it. This is why Emerson describes beauty as an eternal fugitive (75) in Ode to Beauty. • 20. Key Elements For Tissue And Organ Regeneration Introduction Tissue engineering is an interdisciplinary approach that basically replaces, restore the function and regenerate the damaged cell or tissue using biological substitutes. Succinctly, extracellular matrix (ECM) in human tissue is a key element for tissue and organ regeneration. It provides a convenient environment for the cellular attachment, growth and migration stimulate by specific signals. This solid matrix has a complex mixture of structural and functional proteins that serve as a reliable source of nutrient for the cells. ECM also associated with the cell behaviour, tissue differentiation, organisation and neovascularisation. In tissue engineering, the suitable scaffolds are use to act as an ECM analogue (1). The various roles and complicated composition of ECM become a great challenge for the scaffolds to mimic the native ECM in repairing the diseased or damaged tissue. Thus, it is important to develop the ideal scaffolds with optimal properties and architecture since its mechanical characteristics will greatly affect the activity of cell adhesion, proliferation and differentiation. Apparently, the biomaterial used in fabrication of scaffolds may influence its significant features, such as biodegradability, bioactivity and porosity. The bioactivity, including cell adhesion, cell alignment and interaction between scaffolds and cellular components could be enhanced by adding the biological cues onto the biomaterials. Besides that, it is also important for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Old Yeller Analysis Old Yeller is a coming of age novel set in 1860s Texas that details the relationship between the Coates family, especially the 14 year old son, Travis, and a stray dog named Old Yeller. The dog is named both for his dingy yellow coat ( yeller as pronounced in the southern accent that permeates the narrative) and his bark, which sounds more like a yell than the standard animal call. Yeller comes into the Coates family s life after Jim, the father of the family, leaves on a cattle drive to Kansas. Before he leaves, Jim tells Travis that he is now the man of the house until he returns home, a designation which motivates Travis to take responsibility and make sacrifices for the good of his family. If Travis can prove himself worthy of the designation of being a man, his father promises to give him a man s horse. Although the Coates family is at the center of the narrative, it is Travis relationship with Yeller that is the focus. When Yeller is first introduced, Travis not only finds him to be a nuisance but actively despises him. The first time the dog is seen by Travis and the reader is the day after Jim has left the family. Yeller has devoured a piece of meat that the family was about to prepare for a meal. According to U.S. Dept. of Energy, there are more than 40,000 distillation columns in North America and they consume 40% of the total energy used to operate plants in chemical industries [1]. As a result, researchers have focused their efforts towards developing distillation columns that are more compact, utilize compressors to recirculate latent heat and possess more effective separation technology in order to reduce energy consumption. The principal topics of research that pose effective solutions to these present day energy challenges are: the use of divided wall columns (DWC), self heat recuperation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... [3] shows that by using dividing wall columns, the uninstalled equipment cost for the total column configuration is reduced by about 10%. The capital costs savings result from a reduction equipment quantity. There are also indirect benefits; a dividing wall column requires less plot area, shorter piping, electrical runs and smaller storm runoff system [3]. When compared to a conventional two column system, capital costs savings of up to 30% is typical [2]. In summary, fully thermally coupled columns/configurations/ arrangements require less energy than conventional counterparts, because of providing operating conditions that avoid or minimize entropy of mixing formation, which in case of conventional configurations occurs, more or less pronounced, at the feed stage, the ends of the columns, and due to remixing of internal flows [8]. Self Heat Recuperation Technology In order to separate ethanol contents from water, enormous amounts of heat must be applied to the azeotropic mixture during distillation. According to Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau, an ethanol water mixture must be distilled at 78.3 degrees Celsius to reach the 80 proof content level of standard vodka [9]. As a result, the heat needed to distill vodka creates the need to explore sources of recycled energy.
