Blue Trail Narrative
When I first set out for the Blue Trail I did not know what to expect. I ve been on several trails before that were infested with overgrowth and never found
them amusing, so what s so special about this one?
Finding the trail wasn t particularly difficult, since I knew the campus from its sustainable farm to the music building overlooking its own lawn and pond;
however, once I got there I was surprised. Right on the edge of the road, the forest had muses all around to draw inspiration from. I found myself transfixed by
every little squirrel that would not run away from me, since I was in their world and not the other way around. Surrounded by an ocean of orange pine leaves, I
wondered how much longer until fall would come and transform everything.
THUNK. I tripped on several tree roots throughout the path and realized I was out of my element. There wasn t that much human activity there either, besides
the whooshing sound of cars passing the road nearby or the lone blonde girl that sat along the path. Of course, I avoided talking to other people during my
walk because that would ruin the time for self contemplation. Though, I must admit that I was distracted all around by the tree stumps, beer bottles, spiders,
gnats, and rocks on the path. But, despite seeing the red barns and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, I am reminded of my mother, whose idea of a family vacation is remaining connected to her co workers through email, phone, text, and various
other means throughout going to a new place. Every summer I would go to Michigan with my family, my mother would be the one having the least fun. Even
in non wooded areas where the jungle is built by humans and the landscape is of her birth, my mother could never disconnect. But I digress, this is supposed to
be about the serene woods, squirrels, and the magic held

Larry Lee Lewis Analysis
And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when
thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Deuteronomy 6:6 7
I pray that this missive finds you well and abiding in the endless favor of our all sufficient God!
Several years ago God moved upon the heart and mind of Bishop T.T. Scott, prelate of the Northern Mississippi Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction, to make choice of
Pastor Larry Lee Lewis Sr., to serve as the Jurisdictional Youth Department President. For 16 years, President Lewis led our department with dignity, class,

It Happened One Night Film Techniques
In the 1934 film, It Happened One Night directed by Frank Capra, follows two characters Ellie Andrews, played by Claudette Colbert, and Peter Warne, played
by Clark Gable. Ellie is trying to escape her overbearing father and escape a life of unhappiness. This romantic screwball film joins two opposite characters
from two different economic backgrounds. Screwball comedies often display irreverent humor, clever dialogue, subtitle humor and an odd element of
historical relevancy in the time they were most popular. In It Happened One Night, the common screwball comedy elements were displayed in the first nine
minutes to establish the characters, the economic and social backgrounds of both the main characters and the rest of the films plot ... Show more content on

The screwball comedic element of this introduction to Peter is that when he is quitting his job over the phone he is drunk with a group of friends around him.
When he is talking to his boss he is acting like he is the boss and controls the conversation to make himself look good. Through the other side of the phone his
boss has already fired him and hung up but to avoid embarrassment, Peter acts like he is still on the phone with his boss and quits . This classic screwball scene
is entertaining to the viewers as the audience knows what is going on but his friends do not which makes it an odd and humorous situation. These characters
come from opposite social and economic classes which makes it seem as though they would never cross paths or get along. There affection for one another is
formed through the journey these two strangers share with one another and this develops their relationship and attitudes towards each other over time. Through
the course of the film, these characters show a sense of disheartenment and lack of caring towards one another but their opposites are brought together and
their views are changed through screwball comedic elements. The first nine minutes of this film develops the tone of the rest of the film and how these two
very opposite characters meet. Ellie escapes her father by jumping off the boat and swimming to shore. She is followed by body

Ethical Dilemmas in the Nursing Field
There are several dilemmas in the nursing field though nurses reactions to ethical dilemmas are based on their individual values and beliefs as well as ethical
principles, professional codes and the climate of the healthcare setting. Nurses encounter ethical dilemmas when conflicting values and judgments are present
regarding what is the best course of patient care. Ethical dilemmas are faced by nurses on a daily bases. I am choosing two of these dilemmas to address.
1. Empirical Knowledge vs. Personal Beliefs:
Empirical knowledge is the type of knowledge that includes empirical research, scientific enquiry, reductionism and positivism, it is often viewed as true or
valid knowledge that can be theoretically explained by scientific traditional ideas like psychology, pharmacology, sociology and biology or by rigorous
empirical testing which include knowledge from books, journals and conferences.
Example: If a patient is diagnosed with cancer the nurse has a simple list of description like observations, tables of evidence, graphs, empirical hypothesis,
empirical definitions, generalizations, and scientific laws with no personal knowledge to help the patient understand.
Personal Knowledge: This concerns being self aware, it does not emanate from books, journals, lectures or conferences it refers to the fact that w e know more
than we say (Polyani 1966) or understanding without rationale (Benner and Tanner 1987). Itr can be as valid as scientific knowledge and nurses can

Global Health Research Paper
The reasonable question posed is if the movement of people, food and manufactured goods has such a bad impact on our health, should we take steps to reduce
that movement? I don t believe that is a realistic answer. With international travel on a far greater scale than imaginable a hundred years ago, reducing that
flow now would be near impossible.
International trade has been a demand for many decades. People will continue to trade. Instead, focus should be on the health inspections of the items we are
trading. Getting countries to participate in an agreed upon standard of quality could help reduce the risks from the goods being traded. Lowering the spread of
global diseases has come to such a point that without fighting the diseases with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One problem a policy like this will face is trying to globally enforce a standard of quality with countries that are not cooperative. Refusing to receive
shipments that do not pass that standard is an option. Moreover, a better quality of life globally will help as well.
The global community can t expect products to have been properly grown without bad pesticides and grown absorbing good water from countries that have a
water quality issue. If the water issue for these countries isn t fixed, then their products become contaminated. Helping the countries come up to standards first
could ease the process of them implementing and adhering to strict global standards of quality in regards to their exports.
I am leery of GMOs. My worry isn t the typical worry. I am not worried that it isn t natural. Very little in our lives is natural and the world goes on. To go
natural would mean to give up everything and sleep in a tree naked. I feel that genetically modifying certain plants to be more resistant to pests, drought, and
flooding is not only a neat scientific development, but almost a necessity since we now see evidence of a global shift in climate change. Natural or sped up by
humans is irrelevant at this point. The climate is changing. Weather patterns are changing. We have the Midwest as one of our major sources of food. If a
major natural catastrophe occurred without us having crops that can withstand the changes, many people would starve. In this aspect, I can see the need for

Juvenile And Juvenile Justice System
The juvenile justice system and criminal justice system also known as the adult justice system is two different systems. The juvenile justice system is children
who are under the age of 18 years old. After the age of 18, it is considered to be an adult it will enter through the adult justice system. There ate states that
allows youth to stay in the juvenile justice system from age 18 until 21. The main differences between the juvenile justice system and criminal justice system
is rehabilitation and parole. The juvenile justice system main focus is rehabilitation than adult justice system. The juvenile court judges look for the best option
that will protect the community and treatment that youth needs. The juvenile court hearings are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The parole consist of monitoring the children s behavior and actions he or she does. Another hand, when a adult is being monitor is to focus on they behavior
so it will not lead to re incarceration. The main focus for adult criminals is to not re offend again during the present or future. There is more chance that adults
will re offend again after they are released from prison. My opinion, adults who have been charged for sexual harassment are more likely to re offend because
of the desire of pressure, mental ill, and power. There are differences between the juvenile and adult justice system that have to do in the criminal justice. One
differences is that juveniles are prosecute to delinquent acts, but it can be tried to the adult system. The second differences is juveniles does not have the right
to a public trial by jury. If juvenile is charged for a crime he or she committed the case involves a judge hearing evidence and ruling whether is a big issue or
small. The third differences is the adult justice system focus more on punishing and for juvenile justice system is to rehabilitate. the fourth differences is adults
are found guilty of a crime they committed and court try to find the best punishment, but the court tries to impose a penalty so the individual to re offend in the
future. Some similarities between the juvenile and adult justice system that has in common between the two systems. The first

The Roles Of Ancient Roman Slavery In Ancient Rome
Ancient Roman slaves did numerous amount of jobs and helped Rome become prosperous. Slavery in Rome had benefited the Republic in various ways.
Slaves increased the economy, fed the entire republic through agriculture, and they also upheld important roles and was the glue that held Ancient Rome
together. Slaves played a huge roll in Ancient Rome and was the reason for the great economy and without the slaves Rome would not have been as powerful
as it was. An estimate of the slave population in the middle of the second century, when the Republic was at its peak, was over fifteen percent and they almost

On the farms, slaves produced the food and other materials on which the cities depended. Some of the most important crops produced by slaves were wheat,
olives, vines and grapes which were eaten and used for making wine. Slaves were the background of the entire Roman society and without them there would
be no food to feed the Roman people. The slaves also worked as carpenters and blacksmiths who repaired the farm tools and carts. Others looked after the
cattle, sheep and pigs. The wool from the sheep were spun and made into items which were used by the Roman army and navy. The Roman farm products such
as wine, oil, tools, meat were exported to other counties. This gave Rome its greatest source of economic wealth. Food was never a problem in Rome and
slaves worked many physical hours to maintain this. The land around the city was productive and as the empire expanded it was fed by fertile land in Tunis
and Algeria and the Crimea. The fertile soil allowed to the slaves to produce a mass amount of food for the entire republic. Most of these slaves were
uneducated and did not have the skills as the slaves who were used as cooks, teachers or physicians. Roman slaves fed the entire Republic and was the
backbone of Rome.

Non Verbal And Verbal Communication
Communication is important in any industry. There are many forms of communication and it is constantly evolving. One such field that communication is
important in is physical therapy. There is constant interaction between patients, physical therapists, physical therapists assistants, other employees, other health
professionals, etc. This report will look at communication within different levels of employment, non verbal and verbal communication, communication
impacted by the audience, technology, interpersonal skills, and feedback.
First and foremost is non verbal communication. The very first impression you have of someone is their physical appearance. Nonverbal communication plays
a large role in the dynamics of how people relate to one another in the workplace (Perkins, 2010). It is important for workers in the physical therapy profession
to dress appropriately and show confidence. When working with patients there is a lot to consider. What type of message do you send, consciously and
unconsciously, in the way you dress, your facial expression, your greeting rituals, your displays of emotion, your gestures, your tone of voice, or your use of
space? (Perkins, 2010, p. 51). It is important to consider all these because the patient wants to know and feel they are in good hands.
Nonverbal communication is also important within the work area. Employers want to know they can trust their employees especially with patients. An
individual also wants to get along with their

In the essay quot;Prison quot;Reform quot; in America, quot; Roger T. Pray points out the much attention that has been devoted to research to help prevent

They felt that the brutal criminal punishment was irreconcilable with their Christian beliefs. So in 1786, they persuaded the Pennsylvania legislature to limit
the death penalty to murder, treason, rape and arson. It was then that all other criminals would have to be imprisoned for up to ten years. As the population
grew and more people where getting sent to prison instead of being executed the prison began to get crowded.
The Walnut Street prison, which was the first prison, built in 1790 was a prototype for other prisons to be built over the next 30 years. By the year 1817 the
prison began to deteriorate. Changes and overcrowding of prisoners in one room pushed Pennsylvania legislature to build more prisons. In 1817 two more
prisons where built, one in eastern and one in western Pennsylvania. They built these prisons with separate cell areas, so each inmate could be kept alone,
eliminating all the problems of congregate living. The idea of having separate cells did not originate in America. quot;Of course the notion of forcibly
confining people is ancient and there is extensive evidence that the Romans had a well developed system for imprisoning different types of offenders. quot;

It was the Auburn jail that added a new system to imprisonment. It was solitary confinement. At the time many criminals had mental breakdowns being locked

Book Report On The Boy Scout Troop
It was early in the year 2012 when I encountered my first craving for sleep, just before a backpacking excursion. I was one of only two patrol leaders in my
Boy Scout Troop, and I wanted to be the best leader. I was hungry for it. My 12 year old brother, Luke, was the other patrol leader and he helped keep a
healthy rivalry between our patrols. My patrol s name was the Golden Grizzlies, and Luke s patrol name was the Spartans. Previously, the Golden Grizzlies
demolished the Spartans in every challenge that was put in front of us, prior our last camping trip. Luke and I were discussing the upcoming Boy Scout trip to
Henry Coe in Stanislaus County during our journey home from a family camping trip. He became exasperated, due to his frustration of losing to the Golden
Grizzlies. He ended his next sentence with, You ll see, David. This trip, things will be different. The Spartans will eradicate all of the Golden Grizzlies. As we
unpacked, he mumbled about how things were going to change; I started to become concerned and pondered about whether or not my innocent brother would
sabotage my patrol. The night before the trip, we slept at the church that we meet at for our meetings. This is where things really started to degrade. It was one
o clock in the morning and I was beginning my slumber, when Luke and his friend came into the sanctuary where I was camped out . They were both
hysterical and had massive tears in their eyes. I sat up, in a rather startled state, and proceeded

Recruiting And Retention Study
What factors affect the longevity and commitment of motivated and hardworking law enforcement officers to an agency? Organizations nationwide from
various small municipalities to local counties as well as large state operated administrations have all encountered ongoing concerns in recruiting new and
experienced officers and then retaining those individuals for the long haul. How do agencies maximize retention and continuously provide the highest level of
service to the community when the turnover rate in law enforcement has become an epidemic over the last several decades? Extensive research, surveys and
studies have been conducted and show results contributing to high turnover rates that can be linked all the way back to the initial recruiting ... Show more

Staff study inspections can assist in identifying the shortfalls in a specific department, the agency as a whole and gives employees the opportunity to provide
feedback. Improving the functionality of each department acts as a building block for the agency s reputation from within and is then projected through the
service provided to the community. All of the crucial components to recruiting and retention are intertwined with the existing employees. In his book
Recruitment, Retention, and Turnover of Police Personnel, W. Dwayne Orrick (2008) states that every officer is a potential recruiter. It is this approach that
encourages a strong emphasis on maintaining good working relationships between supervisors and subordinates. Enhancing the communication skills within
the work environment strengthens the core of each department, leads to the retention desired, and ultimately portrays the positive reputation an agency seeks
when recruiting new hires. Word of mouth is a strong resource that can proactively attract possible applicants for all positions, increasing the variety in the

Throughout the semester we really had to watch the markets in order to obtain a successful portfolio. The way we approached this task was through constant
watching of the securities market to find out current trends as well as picking up stocks we thought were undervalued at that time. The latter, of course, applies
to our managed portfolio, where we were able to select stocks we deemed were good investments. We observed that this specific portfolio gave us more stable
returns, which we attributed to the lower betas of these stocks. One can also conclude that the worst performers of the same portfolio were due the same cause.

CVS Caremark Corp: Clearly, we got this one right and it was our best investment. We thought this was a safe stock to purchase because it was a top 20
company in the 2013 Fortune 500 list as well as operating in an industry that has been in great demand by the American population as it is aging rapidly.
Another conclusion that we arrived while discussing the possible purchases was that the company operates only in the US, so it had a great opportunity to

Colgate Palmolive Co: This was another good investment in our opinion. The company had a low beta at the time of the purchase and has been having a steady

European Imperialism In Africa
Between the years 1870s and 1900, Africa faced imperialist aggression, diplomatic pressures, military invasions, and the conquest and colonization by the
Europeans. African societies desperately tried to put up various forms of resistance against the attempt to colonize their countries and impose foreign
domination. Much to their effort, by the early twentieth century, much of Africa, except Ethiopia and Liberia, had been colonized by European powers. The
three three main factors that motivated the European imperialist push into Africa where, economic, political, and social. This all developed in the nineteenth

While these were used as needed by African forces, the dominant type used depended on the political, social, and military organizations of the societies
concerned. In general, small scale societies, the decentralized societies (erroneously known as stateless societies), used guerrilla warfare because of their size
and the absence of standing or professional armies. Instead of professional soldiers, small groups of organized fighters with a mastery of the terrain mounted
resistance by using the classical guerrilla tactic of hit and run raids against stationary enemy forces. This was the approach used by the Igbo of southeastern
Nigeria against the British. Even though the British imperialists swept through Igboland in three years, between 1900 and 1902, and despite the small scale of
the societies, the Igbo put up protracted resistance. The resistance was diffuse and piecemeal, and therefore it was difficult to conquer them completely and
declare absolute victory. Long after the British formally colonized Igboland, they had not fully mastered the

A Brief Note On The Egyptian Health System Essay
3.1. Donors (Suppliers)
Blood donation occurs when a person voluntarily has blood drawn and used for transfusion. Donation could be of whole blood which used rare now or of
specific components directly. Blood banks prepare and participate in blood collection campaigns and the followed procedures. Today in developed countries,
most blood donors are unpaid volunteers who donate blood for community supply. Meanwhile, in developing countries, with the severe shortage of blood
stock, donors are paid money and received extra advantages such as: paid time off. The Egyptian health system suffer s from a severe shortage in the blood
donation supplies as announced by some Health officials in Alexandria Blood bank approximately, every three seconds, there is a patient who requires blood,
thus there is an urgent need ranging between 2.5 to 3 million bags annually. Tragically, only 60% of the country s needs are met, (Shafie, 2013). The following
(Table 1) shows the total blood donation during FY 2006 TO 2011.
Table 1: Blood Donations statistics per governarate (2006 to 2011) Source 2: Egyptian Ministry of Health statistics (Shafei, 2013)
3.1.1. Donation Problems:
There are too few donors due to lack of social awareness specifically after 25th January revolution. Additionally, infected donors with Viral Hepatitis or Anti
bodies(C, B, A) are considered a serious challenge in Egypt that having the highest recorded prevalence of HCV antibodies in the world. (Omran et al, 2013).

(Brachioradialis) part nearest the elbow. Although blocking reflexively is accepted, it is best to block on 35 and 45 degree angles to reduce the pressure of the
blow. Using the forearm as a strike is a great weapon; such as striking the head, the neck and the dead arm strike to the chest, also striking the abdomen area,
the back of knee to sweep and the breaking of the opponents arm. For a strong block, one is advised to practice the five star basic blocks; not only does this
show you the direction of certain blocks but it gives you a since of feel of the pressure you will receive from the blow, it also toughens and strengthens the
forearms. Mentally the FOA man is capable of taking blows to the forearm without flinching even from a stab wound to the back of the forearm (try not to

knee during the game. For soccer players, the cause of their injured are running and kicking the ball all over the field and sometimes twist their ankle while
running. Sometimes for soccer players while they have the ball the other team would sly kick the ball and miss; but when that person missed, the sly kick
would hit the other player knee or ankle and it would result in the other person getting injured. However for football players, the only way to get injured is they
would have to be tackle down by other players; if they want to get injured. Their chance of getting injured are very low

Aboriginal Land Rights in Australia
Terra Nullius was once apparent in Australian society, but has now been nullified with the turn of the century and the changes of societal attitudes. With the
political changes in our society, and the apology to Indigenous Australians, society is now witnessing an increase in aboriginals gaining a voice in today s
society. Kevin Rudd s apology as described by Pat Dodson (2006) as a seminal moment in Australia s history, expressed the true spirit of reconciliation
opening a new chapter in the history of Australia. Although from this reconciliation, considerable debate has arisen within society as to whether Aboriginals

This decision left pastoralists unsure of their right to land, however the National Indigenous Working Group (NIWG) accepted that existing rights of
pastoralists to operate and develop their leases without any need to negotiate with native title holders. This provides pastoralists with the certainty that they had

Western Australia s north Kimberley region was an indigenous protected area. This decision has allowed indigenous members of the community to progress

In establishing an act, the stakeholder s positions would need to be considered in order to ensure an equitable legislation for the majority of society.
Stakeholders recognised by the law include: All registered native title bodies corporate in relation to land or waters in the area (Austlii: 1993). Pastoralists

Why Do Gluten Harmful
2.7 million people in Britain believe gluten is harmful (Fenton). America is being overrun by gluten free fad diets that are misleading the public. Contrary to
the common misconception, it is unwise for people who are not allergic to gluten to go on gluten free diets, because these diets are unhealthy, harmful, and
impractical. Gluten is actually good for nutrition, gluten free substitutes are more expensive, contain dangerously high levels of arsenic, have less nutrition,
and can cause weight gain.
Contradictory to the current fad over the horrible threat the public seems to believe gluten poses, this protein is actually very beneficial to human health.

The act of taking out gluten does not make a diet healthier, but there are ways to be healthy without eating gluten. Gluten free diets can be healthy if processed
foods and excessive carbs are simply dropped and only lean meats, fresh produce, and low fat dairy are consumed(Nelson). Gluten free products lack the
vitamins and minerals that wheat products contain (Palmer). Gluten containing products contain much of the Vitamin B in our diets. Their gluten free
counterparts are not nearly as rich in this vitamin, and a lack of one type of this vitamin is especially critical for pregnant women, because a type of this
vitamin prevents birth defects (Strawbridge). So, avoiding gluten can negatively alter nutrition, because a diet without gluten will not provide necessary
vitamins. When consuming gluten free replacements for processed foods, it is important to realize their nutricious deficiencies. The replacements for wheat in
gluten free products are highly processed and have sugar contents that can be as high as the sweets people are trying to diet from (Spector). When consuming
packaged gluten free foods that are gluten free, they have proven to be contain even more fat and sugar than the original products (Fenton). Fat and sugar

Financial Ratio Analysis of Morrison in Comparison with Tesco
Introduction
The purpose of this report is to critically analyse the financial ratio results of Morrison 2008 and 2009 as an equity analyst and compare it with like for like by
using Tesco supermarket. To achieve this report will be looked at in four main areas. Firstly, we will use financial ratios obtained from annual reports of 2008
and 2009 to analysis and appraise Morrison s financial performance. This would be followed by a comparative analysis with Tesco, for the same period. In
addition, a trend analysis will be done to show the pattern of Morrison s financial performance over the years 2006 to 2009. Furthermore, a comparison will be

A safe margin in liquidity for the retail industry is often below 1:1. Morrisons Current Liability(CL) are far too higher than the current assts and that has
greatly affected the ratios. Using long term borrowing to fund current assets will improve this ratio as will profits that generate cash flow. These results mean
that Morrison s ability to meet its short term obligations have improved slightly. The CR was up by 0.4:1 from 2008 to 2009 and the QR by 0.3:2 respectively.
However, Morrison may not be able to pay off its bill as quickly as it should and this may keep its suppliers unhappy and unwilling to give eager service.
Over four years the ratio has continued to increase with a slight dip in 2007.
In general, Tesco showed a better growth margin than Morrison in the two years by improving CR by 0.18:1 from 2008 to 2009.
Morrison s CR figure in 2009 is unfortunately, not in line with the industry average of 0.70:1. and neither is their QR. Morrison results have fallen behind the
Industry figure of 0.69:1 (London Stock Exchange, 2009).

This formally ceased in the 1970s but some would argue that it continues to this day. This essay will present evidence including the stolen aboriginal children s

3 Types Of State Legislatures
Felipe Lozano
The United States has based its political roots over certain rules, one of them being the separation of powers between the federal government and the states.
This rule gives every state certain liberty to the states, such as choosing their own type of state legislature. In the United States, the state legislatures have been
chosen according to the commodities of each state, their necessities and other factors, such as geographic region, population size, or area size. The comparison
between the several options of state legislatures can be observable through the level of professionalization that every state has produced throughout the
legislatorial period. There are three different types of legislature in the United ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, the State Legislature of Texas, as a hybrid legislature, has proved both annual and biennial sessions and budgets, but even then, it has been a
challenge to achieve a great rate of passing bills. Even when the Governor of Texas has the power to summon a special session; like 16 other states, the rate of
passing bills has been decreasing lower than 25% from the total of bills proposed (Zelinski, 2017). Furthermore, the session length is the factor that engulfs the
management of time over legislatorial sessions. This control opens a possible influence over the political agenda of the party in control over the legislature,
where there is a potential advantage taken by the governors, thus impacting state business and affairs. To illustrate this, the usual time of session for the North
Dakota legislature is sixty six days over a two year period, there would be a 0.78% increase in the state s budget by the propositions of the governor (Kousser
and Philips, 2009). In addition, the variation on the amount of compensation for legislators has become a key factor over the professionalization level
throughout the states. For example, a lawmaker in Illinois would receive a base salary of $67,836 per year and a per diem rate, per each day of session, of
$111. On the other hand, a state lawmaker in Idaho is going to receive $16,438 as a base salary and a per diem rate ranging from $25 to $122 (NCSL, 2014
State Legislator Compensation). Therefore, it is common to see that states where their legislators are being paid higher salaries, such as in California,
Pennsylvania or Illinois, are being ranked at a higher level of professionalization, rather than part time legislature states, like New Hampshire or Utah. As a
factor of

symbolism to many biblical terms, which are found throughout the poem, for example the mysterious wind hitting

Michael Shermer s Explanation Of Patterns
Humans make use of patterns every day, they are necessary for our society to function, and on a larger scale, allow us to find consistency within the universe.
An idea raised Michael Shermer is that Humans are pattern seeking animals and we are adept at finding patterns whether they exist or not . Fundamentally,
patterns are a specific and consistent relationship between knowledge, so a number pattern is just a specific arrangement of numbers. To further explore
Shermer s statement, it is important to define what it means for a pattern to exist. One possible interpretation is that an existing pattern is a pattern that is
inherently found within the universe, regardless of human thought or influence. Consequently, a pattern that exists must be shared knowledge, meaning that
the pattern is agreed upon and perceived as the same for every human. For example, one person may see a shape of an ... Show more content on

One of the more commonly known patterns are number sequences, these types of patterns are numbers placed in a certain order where there is a relationship
between each consecutive number. These patterns the result of the laws of the universe and exist regardless of human influence, they are agreed upon by most
people and therefore can be said to exist. On the other hand, there are also patterns that are based on probability which are not as objective as number
sequences. While it can be argued that probability patterns do exist within the universe, it can also be argued that they are only perceived to exist. This is
especially prevalent in scientific and human experiments where they use mathematical formulas to justify whether there is a pattern between different things.
While patterns are consistent, it does not necessarily mean that a pattern will always be correct, which raises questions like, To what extent can we rely on
uncertain knowledge? and How can knowledge ever be

Queen Elizabeth I And Anne Boleyn
I know I have the body of a weak and feeble woman, but I have the heart and stomach of a king, and of a king of England too. Queen Elizabeth I. Queen
Elizabeth I was the daughter of king Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. She would later become the 5th ruler in the Tudor dynasty. After her half sister Mary s rule
she was hailed a hero and known for saving England through one of its toughest periods. Even more impressive she ruled alone with no king. Queen Elizabeth
was one of the best rulers in European history, she overcame a lifetime of difficulty and was well liked among her people.
On September 7th 1533 Queen Anne Boleyn and King Henry VIII welcomed their baby, the future Queen Elizabeth I into the world, the king and queen were
very disappointed that Elizabeth was a girl. All the calibrations they had planned were almost immediately canceled. It was almost as of they were shamed to
have birthed a girl. Due to her father King Henry VIII and her mother Queen Anne Boleyn s questionable marriage and the timing of her birth many
questioned if she was actually King Henry VIII s daughter. Even if she really was however many consider her to be a child of adultery (Doran 8). The
controversy of Elizabeth s legitimacy and Henry and Anne s marriages put a strain on the family. Henry believed that his marriage to Katharine was invalid
from the beginning due to her previous marriage to Henry s elder brother Arthur. This convinced some of Elizabeth s legitimacy. Since King Henry VIII had

The Five Stages Of Team Development

instrument to learn and expand our experience and social circle. Initially it could be stressful, and time consuming, but if done well the result would be
extremely rewarding, it is called teamwork.

Why is teamwork essential?
Five Stages of Team Development
In 1965, a professor of psychology at the Ohio State University, Bruce Tuckman propose the five stages of group development (Andersen Bolt, 2011, p. 161).
Tuckman strongly suggest the norm order for team to grow as one coordinated group.
Teamwork plays a fundamental role in providing a high quality service and achieving accomplishments. Most teams usually go through five stages of
development in order for them to successfully meet their group s purpose. Here is the five stages of team development:
1. Forming stage is the first phase of team development. This is the period where the first impression will initially form. The team begins as soon as they are
created. The individuals will be formerly introduced to their peers, they have to work with. Members would still be wary and cautious of their surroundings. In
addition, this is the stage where the members will determine, how they will organize their approach in order to meet their desired goals.
2. Storming stage is the second phase of team development. This is when the conflict between the

CD1 molecules are a family of highly conserved antigen presenting proteins that presents lipid antigens to T cells. The CD1 family comprises five members
(CD1a e) in humans (Hong et al. 1999; Luoma et al. 2014). Of these molecules, CD1d has been the subject of much interest following the finding that the
molecule is the only member conserved between mice and humans, though murine has two CD1d molecules, CD1d1 and CD1d2. CD1d molecule could be
expressed by most hematopoietic cells, including dendritic cells, B cells, macrophages, immature and mature T cells and hepatocytes (Hong et al. 1999).

The loss of CD1d impairs NKT cell development in the thymus and yields an NKT cell deficient model. As a result, CD1d knockout mice have been
extensively used in the NKT cell studies. For example, Kotas et al. reported that CD1d deficiency led to a mild exacerbation of steatosis during high fat or
choline deficient feeding, accompanied by impaired hepatic glucose tolerance (Kotas et al. 2011). Martin Murphy et al. found that CD1d deficient mice were
more susceptible to weight gain and fatty liver following high fat diet (HFD) feeding (Martin Murphy et al. 2014). Moreover, CD1d deficient mice have been
reported to be more susceptible to a wide variety of viruses including herpes simplex viruses (Ashkar and Rosenthal 2003; Grubor Bauk et al. 2003),
cytomegalovirus (Broxmeyer et al. 2007), diabetogenic encephalomyocarditis virus (Exley et al. 2001), and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) (Johnson et al.

translate to humans due to considerable differences in NKT cell frequencies, subsets, cytokine secretion profiles and tissue localization patterns between the
two species (Bendelac et al. 2007; Van Kaer et al. 2011a). We and others have used a mouse reactive CD1d tetramer (TT) reagent loaded with the αGC analog

In J.D. Salinger s The Laughing Man, the Chief protects the innocent Comanches from the horrors of the real world. The Chief picks them up after school and
takes them to parks and museums on a daily basis. At the end of their day he will often give installments of The Laughing Man a fictional story, the boys have

reveals being an adult is not without hardships. The Chief makes a poor choice in the heat of the moment and does not think about his actions causing harm to

sense of direction. The Chief is supposed to guide them, and because they are with him so much, the bond they form with him seems unbreakable. The narrator
lists all of the Chief s achievements and ends with [the Comanches] from the smallest hoodlum to the biggest, loved and respected him (54). Being so young,

Male Gaze Theory Depicted in American Pie
THE MALE GAZE THEORY AS PORTRAYED IN AMERICAN PIE
I. Introduction The position of women in the society at present has changed gradually in the last few centuries. The role of women, as dictated by the society, is
perceived by how they re presented. Since the last three centuries, women have always been viewed as just housewives and objects of perversion. Media is one
of the factors why women are perceived as secondary to men. This is why media has a major influence to the humanity because it can reach almost all the parts
of the world. May it be in print media or in film productions; women are always depicted as inferior and submissive to men s desires. There have been
different movements aimed in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is what she developed from the theory proposed by Muvley. Studlar suggested that audience is only overwhelmed by the cinematic representation and
becomes incapable. There are two different levels of the demonstration of the women in the society wherein they are called as the Passive and the male as the
Active . 1. A woman is an erotic object for both the characters within the film. For example, Stiffler, a character in the American Pie movie, depicts a lady that
passed by as a visual pleasure to him. But, what if the lady looks like a big, fat loser? By that, men has the social power to dictate whether a girl can be
subscribed as beautiful or not; as a sex object or not. 2. The spectator who is watching the film finds the woman as an erotic object. In accordance to what is
cited above, the dominance of male directors in the Hollywood scene also gives the power of judgment to its audience, the male population. Of course, when
the male characters feel that the woman being perceived is perfect for being a visual pleasure, it tends to drive the audience in the same manner, too. These two
different perspectives show that a woman(Passive), as depicted in the Hollywood films, are just inferior to the social control held by men(Active).
II. Logical Argument (Analysis)
Women, even at the present, are still being depicted as weak and are always perceived as to submit themselves to the

Beethoven Argumentative Essay
In Vienna, 1822, Christoph and his mother were mourning the death of his father and because they had no income, Uncle Curt rented out Christoph s fathers
old office to none other than Beethoven.
When Beethoven first moved in upstairs, he is constantly disturbing Christoph and Christoph didn t like it one bit at all, but he wasn t the only one who couldn
t stand Beethoven. Whilst not getting on with Christoph was on thing, fighting daily with Sophie the House Keeper and throwing tantrums directed at her, they
didn t get on the greatest either.
Every day, Beethoven would disappear somewhere for a couple of hours and nobody would ever know where he went, until one day when Christoph followed
him. Christoph followed him around town, quite stealthily, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Whilst on their walk though, Christoph admits to Beethoven that he quit playing but Beethoven contradicts him, saying, music isn t something you can quit.
Over the course of the next couple of weeks, Beethoven and Christoph saw more of one another and become happier with one another s company and appear
to become friends.
Beethoven began his 9th Symphony and in a matter of weeks started rehearsals, but got extremely frustrated when his sopranos continuously told him that they
couldn t sing the notes he required. But not just that, but his instrumentalists couldn t play fast enough for his liking and the fact that he couldn t hear them
didn t help his fiery temper.
During one of his rehearsals, Christoph comes in and listens to Beethoven play some of his composed pieces, and begins to cry from the beauty of it all.
Christoph questions why Beethoven doesn t cry from the beauty of the piece, and Beethoven merely states that Composers don t cry Composers are made of
fire.
Beethoven promised Christoph and his mother tickets to see his show and when the symphony is performed, they get front row

Difference Between Depression And Women Essay
More over the second hypothesis was that the mean difference in depression for men differed from the mean difference in depression for women because
according to Silverstein et al. (2013), women were 33% more likely than men to have pure depression and over 50% more likely to have somatic depression.
Finally, the third and last hypothesis was that the mean difference in self esteem for men differed from the mean difference in self esteem for women because
according to Sprecher, Brooks, and Avogo, (2013), in a study among Blacks, Hispanics, Whites, and Asians, men had higher self esteem than women across all
races with the exception of black females who s self esteem did not significantly differ from black men. Method Participants The current study consisted of a
total of 80 undergraduate students who were recruited from the University of California Riverside. Consequently, the ages of the participants ranged from 18
25 years of age with the average age being 21 years of old. Furthermore, the sample was comprised of 60 females of the total 80 participants. Over all, the
majority of the sample consisted of 34 Hispanic students, including Mexican American, Central American, and others. Next, 20 of the participants in the
sample were Asian or Asian American including Chinese, Japanese, and others. Moreover, the third biggest group of participants identified as White
Caucasian, Anglo European American, not Hispanic students who made up a total of 9 participants from the sample.

Abstract Noun Thesis
1. For our first paper, I didn t find anything too difficult. The topic of using an abstract noun, such as fear or love, left an open opportunity to choose something
that engraved a memory into our mind. So when I began to write about a fearful night of mine, I had no problem because the memory was quite vivid. Without
much effort, the words began to flow out easily as I recalled the memory. I think what people might find difficult is all about how they don t like the topic
which showed though to their writing or not choosing a vivid memory but instead something that was easy. If student s wanted to excel at writing even when
they think they cannot be good writers, I d recommend prewriting the topic, the thesis, and the main idea points.

Truman Capote s The Last To See Them Alive
According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, the term fiction is defined as written stories about people and events that are not real. Within this genre, there
are six main subgenres romance, mystery, western, historical, horror, and science fiction (Vaughn). These subgenres can help define the author s purpose of
particular pieces of literature. This is true for the first vignette of Truman Capote s famous book In Cold Blood, titled The Last to See Them Alive . The
writing in this section shows how country living is in Holcomb, Kansas while telling the story of the killers, Dick and Perry, on their way to murder the lovable
Clutters. The title of this book and vignette make it seem as if Capote s purpose was to write a mystery novel. However, this is proven wrong almost
immediately after he describes the vivid setting of Holcomb. He reveals the identity of the murderers, leaving no guessing for the reader as to who committed
the horrific crime. In other words, his purpose is not to write a mystery novel, but to describe in detail a cryptic murder in small town Holcomb, Kansas. On
top of that, this novel was far from fiction. Capote immersed himself into this novel, getting all the facts and details to stay true to the Clutter family while
revealing the mindset and motivations of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While Capote was writing the book, he befriended the murderers, although favoring Perry over Dick (Plimpton). Because of this, Perry and Dick are depicted
as humans even after committing the gruesome murders of the Clutter family. Giving murderers humanistic qualities is not done often. This is exposed almost
immediately when Capote asserts, ...four shotgun blasts that, all told, ended six human lives (5). When describing how many victims there are in a tragic event,
the murderers are usually left out of the death count. However, since Capote had a personal connection with these two men, he gifts them with humanistic

Witchcraft Research Paper
The history of witchcraft goes back for centuries, differentiating from culture to culture. A concrete definition is unwritten but the main concept of witchcraft is
the belief in magic and its powers. It is a form of sorcery, the magical manipulation of supernormal forces through the casting of spells and the conjuring or
invoking of spirits, for either good or bad purposes (Guiley 378). Witchcraft is usually associated with the devil and considered harmful. However, in the
ancient world, witch doctors used spells and chanting to cure illness or misfortune. The concept of witchcraft evolves from Assyrian, Babylonian, Akkadian,
Hebrew, Greek, and Roman ancient beliefs. They were known to be knowledgeable in herbal medicine and potions. Contemporary Paganism, also called
Neopaganism, revitalizes pre Christian beliefs. Those who follow now paganism try to reproduce some of the sacred ways of earlier European peoples, such as
the celts in the British isles or the ancient Scandinavians (Fisher 478).
The hunt against witches is recorded through history. They have been accused of perpetuating disease and harming others. In itself witchcraft provides a means
for navigating among the varied forces that comprise and shape material creation (Michael 1) and for those who practice it receives means in controlling those
forces. Those who deemed it unethical or could not understand instantly shunned even the innocent. In 1022 AD a witch has burned to death, the first recorded

I ve been on several trails before that were infested with overgrowth and never found them amusing, so what s so special about this one? Finding the trail wasn t particularly difficult, since I knew the campus from its sustainable farm to the music building overlooking its own lawn and pond; however, once I got there I was surprised. Right on the edge of the road, the forest had muses all around to draw inspiration from. I found myself transfixed by every little squirrel that would not run away from me, since I was in their world and not the other way around. Surrounded by an ocean of orange pine leaves, I wondered how much longer until fall would come and transform everything. THUNK. I tripped on several tree roots throughout the path and realized I was out of my element. There wasn t that much human activity there either, besides the whooshing sound of cars passing the road nearby or the lone blonde girl that sat along the path. Of course, I avoided talking to other people during my walk because that would ruin the time for self contemplation. Though, I must admit that I was distracted all around by the tree stumps, beer bottles, spiders, gnats, and rocks on the path. But, despite seeing the red barns and ... It Happened One Night Film Techniques In the 1934 film, It Happened One Night directed by Frank Capra, follows two characters Ellie Andrews, played by Claudette Colbert, and Peter Warne, played by Clark Gable. Ellie is trying to escape her overbearing father and escape a life of unhappiness. This romantic screwball film joins two opposite characters from two different economic backgrounds. Screwball comedies often display irreverent humor, clever dialogue, subtitle humor and an odd element of historical relevancy in the time they were most popular. Through the other side of the phone his boss has already fired him and hung up but to avoid embarrassment, Peter acts like he is still on the phone with his boss and quits . This classic screwball scene is entertaining to the viewers as the audience knows what is going on but his friends do not which makes it an odd and humorous situation. There affection for one another is formed through the journey these two strangers share with one another and this develops their relationship and attitudes towards each other over time. • 6. Ethical Dilemmas in the Nursing Field There are several dilemmas in the nursing field though nurses reactions to ethical dilemmas are based on their individual values and beliefs as well as ethical principles, professional codes and the climate of the healthcare setting. Nurses encounter ethical dilemmas when conflicting values and judgments are present regarding what is the best course of patient care. Ethical dilemmas are faced by nurses on a daily bases. I am choosing two of these dilemmas to address. 1. Empirical Knowledge vs. Personal Beliefs: Empirical knowledge is the type of knowledge that includes empirical research, scientific enquiry, reductionism and positivism, it is often viewed as true or valid knowledge that can be theoretically explained by scientific traditional ideas like psychology, pharmacology, sociology and biology or by rigorous empirical testing which include knowledge from books, journals and conferences. Example: If a patient is diagnosed with cancer the nurse has a simple list of description like observations, tables of evidence, graphs, empirical hypothesis, empirical definitions, generalizations, and scientific laws with no personal knowledge to help the patient understand. Personal Knowledge: This concerns being self aware, it does not emanate from books, journals, lectures or conferences it refers to the fact that w e know more than we say (Polyani 1966) or understanding without rationale (Benner and Tanner 1987). • 7. Global Health Research Paper The reasonable question posed is if the movement of people, food and manufactured goods has such a bad impact on our health, should we take steps to reduce that movement? I don t believe that is a realistic answer. With international travel on a far greater scale than imaginable a hundred years ago, reducing that flow now would be near impossible. International trade has been a demand for many decades. People will continue to trade. Instead, focus should be on the health inspections of the items we are trading. Natural or sped up by humans is irrelevant at this point. The climate is changing. Weather patterns are changing. We have the Midwest as one of our major sources of food. I was one of only two patrol leaders in my Boy Scout Troop, and I wanted to be the best leader. I was hungry for it. My 12 year old brother, Luke, was the other patrol leader and he helped keep a healthy rivalry between our patrols. My patrol s name was the Golden Grizzlies, and Luke s patrol name was the Spartans. Previously, the Golden Grizzlies demolished the Spartans in every challenge that was put in front of us, prior our last camping trip. Luke and I were discussing the upcoming Boy Scout trip to Henry Coe in Stanislaus County during our journey home from a family camping trip. He became exasperated, due to his frustration of losing to the Golden Grizzlies. He ended his next sentence with, You ll see, David. This trip, things will be different. The Spartans will eradicate all of the Golden Grizzlies. As we unpacked, he mumbled about how things were going to change; I started to become concerned and pondered about whether or not my innocent brother would sabotage my patrol. The night before the trip, we slept at the church that we meet at for our meetings. This is where things really started to degrade. (2015) Effect of Ebola Progression on Transmission and Control in Liberia The Ebola outbreak of 2014 in West Africa with its devastating outcomes has been a worldwide alarming situation leading to the development of research studies in attempt to better understand the disease and find ways of controlling its spread. One of the most affected countries, Liberia, has been the subject of a research study conducted by doctors and epidemiologists of Yale University in Connecticut. Such research focused on investigating the influence of disease progression on transmission and fatality, as well as actions to take in effort to reduce transmission rates (Yamin et al., 2015). In regards to dependent and independent variables, they are clearly identified and the relationship between them is explained. The dependent variable of the study is identified as the Ebola virus transmission, while two independent variables are considered to be the viral load and the amount of contacts of an infected person. This means that infected individuals are more contagious when their viral load is high, thus the more close contacts they get during that period, the higher the chances are of transmitting the ... This rule gives every state certain liberty to the states, such as choosing their own type of state legislature. In the United States, the state legislatures have been chosen according to the commodities of each state, their necessities and other factors, such as geographic region, population size, or area size. The comparison between the several options of state legislatures can be observable through the level of professionalization that every state has produced throughout the legislatorial period. For instance, the State Legislature of Texas, as a hybrid legislature, has proved both annual and biennial sessions and budgets, but even then, it has been a challenge to achieve a great rate of passing bills. Even when the Governor of Texas has the power to summon a special session; like 16 other states, the rate of passing bills has been decreasing lower than 25% from the total of bills proposed (Zelinski, 2017). Furthermore, the session length is the factor that engulfs the management of time over legislatorial sessions. This control opens a possible influence over the political agenda of the party in control over the legislature, where there is a potential advantage taken by the governors, thus impacting state business and affairs. To illustrate this, the usual time of session for the North Dakota legislature is sixty six days over a two year period, there would be a 0.78% increase in the state s budget by the propositions of the governor (Kousser and Philips, 2009). In addition, the variation on the amount of compensation for legislators has become a key factor over the professionalization level throughout the states. For example, a lawmaker in Illinois would receive a base salary of $67,836 per year and a per diem rate, per each day of session, of $111. On the other hand, a state lawmaker in Idaho is going to receive $16,438 as a base salary and a per diem rate ranging from $25 to $122 (NCSL, 2014 State Legislator Compensation). Therefore, it is common to see that states where their legislators are being paid higher salaries, such as in California, Pennsylvania or Illinois, are being ranked at a higher level of professionalization, rather than part time legislature states, like New Hampshire or Utah. • 30. Michael Shermer s Explanation Of Patterns Humans make use of patterns every day, they are necessary for our society to function, and on a larger scale, allow us to find consistency within the universe. An idea raised Michael Shermer is that Humans are pattern seeking animals and we are adept at finding patterns whether they exist or not . Fundamentally, patterns are a specific and consistent relationship between knowledge, so a number pattern is just a specific arrangement of numbers. To further explore Shermer s statement, it is important to define what it means for a pattern to exist. One possible interpretation is that an existing pattern is a pattern that is inherently found within the universe, regardless of human thought or influence. Consequently, a pattern that exists must be shared knowledge, meaning that the pattern is agreed upon and perceived as the same for every human. For example, one person may see a shape of an ... On the other hand, there are also patterns that are based on probability which are not as objective as number sequences. While it can be argued that probability patterns do exist within the universe, it can also be argued that they are only perceived to exist. This is especially prevalent in scientific and human experiments where they use mathematical formulas to justify whether there is a pattern between different things. While patterns are consistent, it does not necessarily mean that a pattern will always be correct, which raises questions like, To what extent can we rely on uncertain knowledge? and How can knowledge ever be ... After her half sister Mary s rule she was hailed a hero and known for saving England through one of its toughest periods. Even more impressive she ruled alone with no king. Queen Elizabeth was one of the best rulers in European history, she overcame a lifetime of difficulty and was well liked among her people. On September 7th 1533 Queen Anne Boleyn and King Henry VIII welcomed their baby, the future Queen Elizabeth I into the world, the king and queen were very disappointed that Elizabeth was a girl. All the calibrations they had planned were almost immediately canceled. It was almost as of they were shamed to have birthed a girl. Due to her father King Henry VIII and her mother Queen Anne Boleyn s questionable marriage and the timing of her birth many questioned if she was actually King Henry VIII s daughter. Five Stages of Team Development In 1965, a professor of psychology at the Ohio State University, Bruce Tuckman propose the five stages of group development (Andersen Bolt, 2011, p. 161). Tuckman strongly suggest the norm order for team to grow as one coordinated group. Teamwork plays a fundamental role in providing a high quality service and achieving accomplishments. Most teams usually go through five stages of development in order for them to successfully meet their group s purpose. Here is the five stages of team development: 1. Forming stage is the first phase of team development. This is the period where the first impression will initially form. The team begins as soon as they are created. The individuals will be formerly introduced to their peers, they have to work with. Members would still be wary and cautious of their surroundings. Of these molecules, CD1d has been the subject of much interest following the finding that the molecule is the only member conserved between mice and humans, though murine has two CD1d molecules, CD1d1 and CD1d2. CD1d molecule could be expressed by most hematopoietic cells, including dendritic cells, B cells, macrophages, immature and mature T cells and hepatocytes (Hong et al. 1999). Martin Murphy et al. found that CD1d deficient mice were more susceptible to weight gain and fatty liver following high fat diet (HFD) feeding (Martin Murphy et al. 2014). Moreover, CD1d deficient mice have been reported to be more susceptible to a wide variety of viruses including herpes simplex viruses (Ashkar and Rosenthal 2003; Grubor Bauk et al. 2003), cytomegalovirus (Broxmeyer et al. 2007), diabetogenic encephalomyocarditis virus (Exley et al. 2001), and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) (Johnson et al. 2002). A woman is an erotic object for both the characters within the film. For example, Stiffler, a character in the American Pie movie, depicts a lady that passed by as a visual pleasure to him. Within this genre, there are six main subgenres romance, mystery, western, historical, horror, and science fiction (Vaughn). These subgenres can help define the author s purpose of particular pieces of literature.
