Biography of Moses Essay
Main focus will be on Moses. He was the greatest prophet, leader, and teacher of Judaism. By
focusing on Moses, I ll incorporate the importance of certain passages that prove the Old Testament;
and show how Moses role was significant and essential to the Hebrews.
Moses 1400 B.C.E
In a nutshell...
Moses was born in a very difficult time: Pharaoh had ordered that all male children born to Hebrew
slaves should be drowned in the river (Exodus. 1:22). Moses mother hid him for three months, and
when she could no longer hide him, she put him in an ark and placed it on the river where Pharaoh s
daughter bathed (Ex. 2:2 3). Pharaoh s daughter found the child and had compassion for him (Exodus.
2:6).

People of Mesopotamia, Egypt, India accepted various gods. However descendents of Abraham who
traveled through the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers [from Abrahams Native Ur to Egypt] came in contact
with many different religious beliefs.
In the Hebrew bible, the golden calf was an idol made by Aaron for the Israelites during Moses
unexpectedly long absence. It is first mentioned in Exodus 32:4.
When Moses went up onto Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments (Exodus 19:20), he left the
Israelites for forty days and forty nights (Exodus 24:18). The Israelites feared that he would not return,
and asked Aaron to make a god for them (Exodus 32:1). The Bible does not note Aaron s opinion of
this request; merely that he complied, and gathered up the Israelites golden earrings. He melted them
to construct the golden calf. He also built an altar before the calf, and the next day, the Israelites made
offerings and celebrated.
G d told Moses that his people had corrupted themselves, and that he planned to eliminate them, but
Moses argued and pleaded that they should be spared (Exodus 32:11); G d relented. Moses came down
from the mountain, but upon seeing the calf, he became very angry; and as a result threw down the
tablets upon which G d s law had been written causing them to break. He ground up the golden calf,
mixed its powder with water, and forced the Israelites to drink it. Then he gathered the tribe of Levi,
(Moses was Levi s great grandchildren. Their

Religious Conflict in Russia
RELIGIOUS CONFLICT IN RUSSIA
One of the great ironies of history is that Marxism, an atheistic theory, was first implemented in
Russia—a land inhabited by millions of believers practicing most of the world s great religions. In fact,
religion is so integral to the culture and history of Russia, it would be impossible to gain a full
understanding for the unique character of the country and its people without a careful examination of
the religious factors at play throughout its history.
BACKGROUND
Basic Demographics Any discussion of Russia must begin with its single most striking feature—its
sheer vastness. During World War II, a German general noted how his troops were depressed by the
monotony of the landscape and the immensity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In terms of languages, Russian is the common official language throughout the Federation, understood
by 99 percent of its current inhabitants and widespread in many adjacent areas of Asia and Eastern
Europe. However, national subdivisions of Russia have additional official languages, further reflecting
the diverse ethnicity of the country. As a result, there are more than 100 languages spoken throughout
the nation, most tied to the particular ethnic groups from which they sprang.
Economics and Education Perhaps the most significant impact of the collapse of the Soviet Union in
1991 has been the economic chaos which subsequently consumed the country. For five years
following the collapse, Russia saw its comparatively developed centrally planned economy contract
severely. It was not until 1997 that Russia began to show signs of recovery as a result of its new open
market policies. Since that time, the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country has grown by an
average of 6.7 percent per year, largely on the back of oil exports, as well as a steadily developing
service and industrial output. Currently, Russia s GDP by purchasing power parity (PPP) is
approximately $1.5 trillion, making it the ninth largest economy in the world and the fifth largest in
Europe. If this growth rate is sustained, the country will become the second largest European economy
after Germany and the sixth largest in

What Is The Relationship Between Malaysia And Philippines...
The relation of Malaysia and Philippines has encountered a number of difficulties. However, Malaysia
and Philippines can be considered to be in good relation with each other. Malaysia and Philippines
bilateral relationship have established since the independence of Federation of Malaya. Philippines
have an embassy in Kuala Lumpur and Malaysia has an embassy in Manila as well as a consulate
general in Davao City. Malaysia and Philippines had been said to share similar culture and heritage.
So, it was no doubt that the two states are making diplomatic relations with each other. The relation of
Malaysia and Philippines had improved since president of Philippines named Carlos Garcia went to
visit Malaysia and meet with Malaysia s Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman. The two of them then
discussed on the formation of an Association of Southeast Asian States as a way for countries in Asia
to unite as well as bring prosperity and a richer life to people. Malaysia and Philippines was among
the founding members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) which was created on

Digestion Start From The Mouth
The digestive process is the process by which foods are broken down, absorbed or excreted by the
body. Digestion start from the mouth. Mastication is the broken down of food into smaller particles
and saliva contain mostly water which aid in chewing and swallowing. It also contain important
enzyme amylase, that begin the broken down of starches or carbohydrate. The food passes the
esophagus from the mouth, a long tube which connect from the mouth to the stomach. The muscle on
the upper part of the stomach relaxes to receive large volumes of swallowed food or liquid from the
esophagus. Stomach is a muscle that helps to break down food into smaller pieces. Small intestine

Protein is the most abundant substance in the human body. Protein are nearly the component of every
cell and are often referred to as building block because of their in development and repair of bone
muscle skin and blood cells. Protein from food is broken down into amino acids by the digestive
system. Amino acids are used to build and repair muscles, for making hormones, red blood cells, hair
and other tissues. Adequate protein intake is also important for a healthy immune system. Because
protein is a source of calories, it will be used for energy. Carbohydrates can be grouped into two
categories: simple and complex. Simple carbohydrates are sugars, complex carbohydrates consist of
starch and dietary fibre. Carbohydrate provides the body with energy that used to fuel it. Since
carbohydrate is our preferred sources of fuel, our body must find another source of energy when we do
not eat enough. As a result, the body will break down stored fat in a process called ketosis. Ketosis
produces a fuel called ketones and is an important process that ensure sufficient energy is provided to
the brain. When adequate carbohydrate intake continues for an extended period of time excessive
ketone are produced resulting in acid acidic blood and a condition called ketoacidosis. Fibre is the
indigestible portion of plant foods that helps move food through the digestive system. It softens stools
by absorbing water. Fibres, also known as bulk or roughages can be found in whole

Emancipationawassone Of The American Civil War
Emancipationawassone of the most profound consequences of the American Civil War.
During and after the war, about four million enslaved African Americans in the United
States became free persons. This generation had a significant influence on American history, an
influence that has yet to be fully recognized. During this remarkable period of transition, former slaves
stabilized their family lives, sought to control their work environments, established their own schools
and churches, and participated in public life as citizens. While these goals may appear straightforward
to us today, they were anything but simple to achieve at the time. The transition from slavery to
freedom was as extraordinary as it was complex. Newly freed African Americans experienced both
boundless joy and excruciating disappointment as they established themselves as free persons. Freed
people frequently encountered violent resistance to their efforts to become paid workers and active
citizens. Many white southerners refused to accept former slaves as free persons.
The state of Tennessee provides a particularly rich case study of the transition from slavery to freedom
during the Civil War and Reconstruction. Second only to Virginia in the number of skirmishes and
battles on its soil, Tennessee was at the heart of the conflict between North and South. The chaos of
war visited many Tennessee communities and served to break down the bonds that kept 275,000
individuals enslaved. Most Tennessee

Cultural Safety And Nursing Practice
Cultural safety is a concept that is integral to providing best care to patients in nursing practice. The
CRNBC defines cultural safety as a process requiring RNs to reflect on their cultural identity, and
develop their practice in a way that allows them to affirm the culture of their patients; cultural
unsafety can be defined as any actions which demean, diminish, or disempower the cultural identity
and well being of people; this also addresses the dynamics of the power relationship between the
Health Care Provider and the patient (p17). Although an environment of cultural safety is a standard
that we are held to as nurses, this ideal is not always reached. In this paper I will discuss one such
incidence, as well as some of the changes that will assist myself as a nurse, as well as others members
of the healthcare team to create an environment of cultural safety.
Culturally Unsafe Experience Through my nursing practice, I was on a team caring a patient who we
will refer to as John. John was a middle aged Aboriginal gentleman. He was hospitalized due to end
stage liver failure, secondary to alcohol abuse. As a result, John was receiving end of life comfort care.
While in the room with John, the nurses were always very considerate of him and provided him with
adequate end of life care. However, as soon as the nurses would leave the room, they would discuss
his condition with other nurses. This included talking about how they don t feel empathetic for him or
enjoy caring for

The Vaccination
It begins as minor flu symptoms. But then things seem to never get any better. As symptoms become
more severe, a person is advised to go see a doctor. It turns out the individual did not have the flu. It
was something far worse, something more treacherous, something more contagious, something
chilling, something life threatening. This disease is known as bacterial meningitis. It is possibly a
college student s worst nightmare, and a disease that students should be well informed about. But
while the bacterial infection is rather rare, it s also terminal, killing 10 to 12 percent of those it infects,
sometimes within hours. The disease attacks and closes up major organs and prevents blood from
circulating to limbs, causing tissue to die. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why not also ensure they are paying for a safe environment by imposing this proposal. No university
would want their public safety to be questionable when students are making the tough decision on
whether or not to attend. Though the disease has no general region to be transmitted, next year a
school such as A M may be passed up by students due to the incident with Williams. An opposer to
this view may complain that the Meningococcal vaccination does not protect students from all strains
of meningitis, but this is the case with every vaccination. The vaccination is created to protect society
from the most common strain of the disease, and the overall rarity of these diseases only calls for the
single vaccination of this strain.
Another importance of this proposal is personal safety. As nature proves, only the strong survive.
Meaning, one must put themselves first as far as safety when matters such as this arise. When the
subject of meningitis is brought up to most college students, by the end of the conversation the person
fears the disease as though it were serial killer on the loose. This is not necessary, as it is made so easy
now a days to go and receive vaccination. Another possible complaint made by opposers, is that a
person may be allergic to chemicals within the vaccination, so why put themselves at risk? On average
it is quite uncommon for someone to have an allergic reaction to the vaccination. If someone did have
a reaction the symptoms

Failure Of Nokia
As it was stated in the introduction, with the smartphone revolution, Nokia failed to understand the
future direction of mobile devices. This underestimation of the rising innovation, in terms of global
market shares, led to a drastic decline from 2007 to 2013, the company lost 45.2% of its market shares
(Statista, 2014). It is worth mentioning, that in 2004, at Nokia s Espoo headquarters, researchers have
presented a mobile phone prototype, which was able to connect to the internet and it was controlled by
a touch screen (O Brien, 2010). However, Nokia s senior management had rejected the idea, stating
that it would be an expensive failure to develop it. That allowed American and Asian companies to
become leading companies, as they adopted a more innovative idea of the smartphone. Despite the
fact that the company started to lose its market shares to competitors, Nokia tried to take the role as

competing in a fast developing and booming networking sector, which generates most of the company
s revenue. Chaudhuri (2015) believes, that in Nokia s case, presence in telecommunication industry is
more profitable than mobile handsets manufacturing. This strategy shift may allow the company to
win the game by redefining market orientation. To support this example, the author uses the Ericsson
case, which illustrates the company s decision to sell its handset business to Sony, after it lost its
ability to compete with other manufacturers. Ericsson s focus on mobile networks allowed the

Introduction Hugh McCaughley, Chief Operations Officer of Riordan Manufacturing has requested a
new system for the Human Resources department of their company which would be implemented and
utilized at three plant locations and the company headquarters. To build the new human resources
system properly, information must be collected from various areas of Riordan Manufacturing, and the
information will be collected in a variety of ways. This information must then be used to determine
such items as scope of the project which can allow for feasibility studies to ensure the system should

The interviews will be recorded and notes will be taken so the interviewer and build a plan and
determine the system requirements of the new human resource system. It is crucial that the interviews
and interview questions be well structured to gain the highest quality of information gathered during
the interviews. The quality of information gathered is just as important as the quantity as described by
Havelka and Sooun (2002): Interaction between users and IS personnel was described as the quantity
and quality of communication and the amount of group activities performed, including feedback from
and to one another during the process . Proper communication and collaboration is critical in the
beginning phases for collecting and large quantity of good quality information.
Along with interviewing, it would be beneficial to hold a JAD (Joint Application development)
session with the stakeholders so everyone may come together and share their opinions and knowledge
of the system. While a JAD session may have high costs, the benefits of a JAD session are very high
as the session enables analysts, developers and the stakeholders to come together and work towards
the design of the new system. Bringing all the users in a room together helps the analysts and
developers greatly understand the needs of the new system as discussed

Explain How Are Gradients Important In Diffusion And Osmosis
Questions to Ponder:
What is kinetic energy and how does it differ from potential energy?
Kinetic energy is the energy of motion, however potential energy is the energy that is stored.
What environmental factors affect kinetic energy and diffusion?
Factors like temperature, surface area, and salinity affect kinetic energy and diffusion.
Why do these factors alter kinetic energy and diffusion?
Temperature increases kinetic energy of the molecules, facilatating faster diffusion of particles as
particles now have a greater speed and thus more readily diffuse across the membrane. Higher surface
area allows for greater diffusion as more particles can enter at once with more room in which to enter.
Higher salinity means more particles within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How are gradients important in diffusion and osmosis?
Without gradients, diffusion and osmosis would not be possible. This is because diffusion is the
movement of particles down concentration gradients and osmosis is the diffusion of water, which
means they both require gradients to function.
What is the explanation for the fact that most cells are small and have cell membranes with many
convolutions?
Higher surface area to volume ratio as being small minimizes volume and having many folds
maximizes surface area. With a higher surface area, greater diffusion rates can occur as there is a
larger area for nutrients and water to pass through.
Will water move into or out of a plant cell if the cell has a higher water potential than the surrounding
environment?
Because substance move from high concentration to low concentration, water will go out of the cell
and into the surrounding environment.
What would happen if you applied saltwater to a

The purpose of this assignment is to analyze a scientific article that provided by the instructor. The
article that will be analyzed is Dietary protein intake is associated with body mass index and weight
up to 5 y of age in a prospective cohort of twins . The authors are Laura Pimpin, Susan Jebb, Laura
Johnson, Jane Wardle, and Gina L Ambrosini. The research problem of the article related to the
protein intake of kids during complementary feeding period and the overweight condition when they

childhood weight gain. Moreover, when children started eating solid foods, it increased their chances
of protein intake. Therefore, authors studied the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The result of this study was based on the massive data from the participants. The result of the study is
... that higher protein intake at 21 mo is associated with higher weight gain and higher BMI (but not
height) between 21 and 36 mo and 21 and 60 mo, with no evidence of diminution over time (Pimpin et
al., p.6). Authors were able to determine that there was a correlation between protein intake and BMI.
In addition, they provided more evidences. They say, We observed greater increases in BMI and
weight up to 36 mo among children who consumed 15% of their energy from protein...This supports
the nutrition statement from the European Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and
Nutrition Committee that a .4 g/kg per day protein intake between 18 and 24 mo (equivalent to w16%
of %Epro) may be associated with increased obesity risk (Pimpin et al., p.7). Overall, the results
supported the hypothesis of the study because they were able to determine the relationship between
protein intake after weaning and childhood obese. There were some limitations in the study.
Misreporting is one of them (Pimpin et al.). The variables of the study were based on the parental
reporting. Therefore, if they did not provide the accurate information during the study, it would affect
the result. Authors say, Misreporting of food consumption is a potential issue for all dietary
assessment methods, although it is not known to what extent

What Are The Reasons For John Chapman s Suicide

months into his fortieth year when he was assassinated by Mark David Chapman. Chapman was
actually a fan of The Beatles since the beginning. The band provided him with the positivity the rest of
his life failed at producing when he was an unpopular child at school. As of this time in history,
Chapman thought that John was betraying The Beatles and himself by quitting the band and by

Tuberculosis As A Infectious Disease
Tuberculosis (TB) is a highly infectious disease that can harm any organ of the body, especially the
lungs. Every year about over a million people die due to tuberculosis and even more are infected. A
person in contact with an infected individual can easily put themselves at risks of getting TB. Due to
the emergence of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), tuberculosis infections commenced to
increment more rapidly. A person with HIV has an impotent immune system which is not able to fight
infections such as tuberculosis. There are many ways to diagnose, prevent and treat the further spread
of this disease.

Sputum tests may be required for testing if the chest x ray reveals signs of TB.
Tuberculosis can spread by contagious airborne droplets that are passed on easily through close
contact with a person who has active or untreated TB. As a person coughs, sneezes, or interacts, it can
relinquish infectious droplets into the air. Once a person inhales the infectious droplet (bacillus), it
settles in the upper airways. Bacteria in droplets that bypass the mucociliary system and reach the
alveoli are expeditiously circumvented and engulfed by alveolar macrophages, the most abundant
immune effector cells present in alveolar spaces (Knechel, 2009). These macrophages are a
component of the immune system that fights to destroy the mycobacteria to obviate infection. The
outcome is essentially determined by the quality of the host bulwarks and the balance that occurs
between host bulwarks and the invading mycobacteria (Knechel, 2009). If the alveolar macrophage
fails to overcome the inhaled mycobacteria, the bacteria will replicate until the macrophage lysis. As
the monocytes are magnetized to the infection site, it then separates into macrophages and consumes
the free bacilli. The mycobacteria then multiply within the macrophages causing it to become infected.
The infected macrophages may then be transported to the lymph nodes where it can easily reach the
blood stream. After two to three weeks of infection, the helper T cells are

Before we have those chit chats about Simple Correlation Analysis, let me define first what correlation
is and its features. What is Correlation? Correlation is a measure of the relation between two or more
variables. The measurement scales used should be at least interval scales, but other correlation
coefficients are available to handle other types of data. Correlation coefficients can range from 1.00 to
+1.00. The value of 1.00 represents a perfect negative correlation while a value of +1.00 represents a
perfect positive correlation. A value of 0.00 represents a lack of correlation. Correlations are very
useful because they can indicate a predictive relationship that can be exploited in practice. For
example, an electrical utility may produce less power on a mild day based on the correlation between
electricity demand and weather. In this example there is a causal relationship, because extreme
weather causes people to use more electricity for heating or cooling; however, statistical dependence
is not sufficient to demonstrate the presence of such a causal relationship (i.e., Correlation does not
imply causation). Correlation often is abused. You need to show that one variable actually is affecting
another variable. The parameter being measure is ρ (rho)

Detailed Overview of HIV Essay
Since the onset of the HIV/AIDS epidemic 15 years ago, the virus has infected more than 47 million
people in the world. With more than 2.2 million deaths in 1998, HIV/AIDS has now become the
fourth leading cause of mortality and its impact is going to increase. Over 95% of all cases and 95% of
AIDS deaths occur in the developing world, mostly among young adults and increasingly in women.
HIV can be prevented in many ways, but they are not always followed. People die when they don t
play it safe. That s why we have to spread the word on prevention. There are three main ways that
HIV can be spread:
1. sexual intercourse
2. intravenous drugs

foreign cells, almost every cell has been built with certain identification tags, MHC markers. Those
cells carrying antigens, a ?non self? tag, are identified by the immune system. This helps insure that
the immune system does not accidentally try to harm the body.
Lymphocytes
Lymphocytes are white blood cells that patrol the body for non self tags. The number of these
particular cells in the average body is approximately 1 trillion. T cells and B cells make up the two
major categories of lymphocytes.
B cells
Originating from bone marrow, B cells are responsible for the creation of antibodies (see diagram
below). Each B cell creates an antibody, which is specific to an antigen. It is the antibodies that act
upon the non self entity by:
* marking the entity for destruction * directly destroying the foreign organism * blocking viruses from
entering a cell * making cells vulnerable to white blood cell attacks
T cells
T cells are produced in the thymus. Here they mature and learn how to identify foreign entities that
may enter the body. T lymphocytes can form into one of two major types of T cells: helper T cells and
cytotoxic T cells.
Activation of Helper T Cells:
An activated Helper T cell will do several things to contribute in the immune system reaction. They
alert B cells to produce antibodies and stimulate macrophages as well as other lymphocytes.

they are alike is that they are both in the NFL. In high school, both of them excelled in track, winning
State Championships. Ezekiel Elliott won the 100 meter dash, 200 meter dash, 110 meter hurdles, and

The almost universal mainstream acclaim for Traffic indicates just how much the worst kinds of
conservative ideologies continue to inform even purportedly liberal attitudes toward drugs, while the
dismissal of Blow as anything more than a decadent fantasy or simplistic cautionary tale misses its
much more accurate indictment of the American idealization of capitalist conquest. 2. That cocaine is
the drug of the ruling class in America is undoubtedly more than a function of its high price in
comparison to other drugs. After all, the effect of cocaine is much closer to the effects of the most
popular of the legal drugs of choice: caffeine and nicotine. (Not surprisingly, caffeine and cocaine
were once combined in Coca Cola.) Like these other speedy substances, cocaine heightens the senses
and gives the user a great deal of energy. However, unlike other forms of speed, cocaine also gives its
user the sensation of mastery and invulnerability. Rather than the ego death of heroin or LSD, cocaine
legitimates the preferred modality of capitalist subjectivity radical and inviolate individuality. If there

Of Mice and Men Movie Review
Of Mice and Men captures the viewer s attention with a girl in a red dress (Moira Harris) running
through an open field, and our two main characters, George Milton (Gary Sinise) and Lennie Small
(John Malkovich), running from men on foot and horseback with rifles and dogs. It gives us an insight
on their personalities. It also shows us Lennie s strength and accidental violence
The cinematography is great, showing personal moments with close up shots, and less personal
moments with far out shots. When Lennie and George are hiding in the ditch there is a close up shot,
but when they are traveling to the ranch, there is a far away shot. This helps the reader understand the
tension of the scene and how personal it is. This effects the importance many scenes in the movie.
Gary Sinise, the director of the film, does a good job of portraying Salinas as an old Western town. He
also chooses to only show human violence, not animal violence, making this movie unique. He does
not show the killing of animals such as rats and dogs, but instead chooses to show when Lennie fights
Curley and when characters die. This is to show the importance of the human violence, opposed to the
less important animal violence. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Daniel Suarez Against The Evolution Of Robots
Daniel Suarez is against the evolution of robots and creating robots with the power to kill. The new
technological inventions are taking power and responsibility away from humans and putting it into the
hands of the machines. This creates a new problem where the machines, especially autonomous
weapons in the military, have increased power and are vulnerable to hacking that could cause them to
turn on us. By creating lethally autonomous robotic weapons, fewer people will fight in wars and risk
their lives, thus increasing the power of the few because they will not require as much assistance
anymore. Combat drones contain dozens of cameras that create so much footage that we will need to

Supervisory Platform and Evaluation System
In any school, student learning is the ultimate goal and the focus of an effective learning community.
In today s society, the education system is called upon to teach all students at high levels. It has been
established through significant research that teachers have a high impact on student learning,
according to the RAND Corporation, research suggests that, among school related factors, teachers
matter most. When it comes to student performance on reading and math tests, a teacher is estimated
to have two to three times the impact of any other school factor, including services, facilities, and even
leadership. In order to ensure that students have the greatest chance for achievement, it is vital that
school communities know that they have high quality teachers in place. To accomplish this task,
systems have developed that integrate set measures aligning what teachers do and what happens as a
result. These may include evidence of student work and learning, as well as, evidence of teacher
practices derived from observations, reflection, recordings, artifacts, and various forms of feedback.
Educational experts such as Marzano, Danielson, Stronge and others have published examples of
evaluation models. While they vary in emphasis and design, they are similar in that they attempt to
provide a framework for measuring the impact of a teacher on a student s learning. Clearly, this is a
daunting and challenging task and there is a risk involved in attempting to make something

Sequel To H. G. Wells The Time Machine
The premise of a sequel to H.G. Wells The Time Machine could have been treated in a number of
ways. Some analysts have commended Wells for his literal minded approach which they find to be his

everything related to Wells, retaining the association only for marketing purposes. A Scientific
Romance has a different and unique approach altogether. For instance, Ronald Wright s style and

The Culture And Climate Of A Well Disciplined Unit Essay
The culture and climate of a well disciplined unit should be apparent by its strong core values and
attributes displayed by its unit members. Recruiting and processing qualified applicants with good
moral values and strong character traits is where it starts. In addition, Basic Combat Training (BCT)
further strengthens a Soldier s moral fiber, focuses on building strong leadership skills, and instills the
core values of the Army. The Army needs standard bearers, not Soldiers and Leaders who choose the
easy wrong over the hard right. Providing proper training and honest feedback will create competence
in our military ethics. We need Soldiers and Leaders of strong character that will teach, coach, and
mentor the next generation of leaders. A positive command climate and demanding culture is the
substance of developing unit cohesion and esprit de corps. Army ethics will continue to struggle if it
does not have leaders at every level to enforce the importance of its core values and principles. A
strong culture and positive climate play a vital role in shaping our force for the future. Climate and

Personal Statement On Health Consciousness
ABSTRACT Our health conscientiousness and intellect is part of our inner self that helps makes
decisions. However, our health consciousness guides our intellect to take decisions for our wellbeing
and the intellect keeps our minds under its own control so it would not be taken for a different route
by outside sensory objects. Health consciousness is part of our natural intelligence that always remains
inside of us. We may not always access it, but we do have it inside of us. Results show that research
suggests that conscientious individuals report higher levels of wellness maintenance (Booth Kewley
Vickers, 1994; Edmonds, Bogg, Roberts, 2009). In addition, conscientious people show a greater
tendency to adherence to self care for different illnesses that also includes such diagnosis as kidney
disease (Christensen Smith, 1995). However, when doing research on how conscientiousness trait is
negatively related to unhealthy behavior patterns; but it is positively related to all of the beneficial
aspects of wellness maintenance. (Boggs Roberts, 2004).

Examples Of Tension In An Inspector Calls
Pick out three key moments in the first two acts of An Inspector Calls and analyze how Priestly
controls tension and suspense.
In An Inspector Calls Priestley manipulates tension and suspense to give us insight on his political and
social views (eg. the class system). He builds up tension and suspense during the course of the acts
ending with a cliffhanger, leaving the audience curious and guessing as to what would happen next.
For example, the Inspector s entrance where Priestley creates tension by using lighting. The lighting
initially pink and intimate , possibly conveying the idea of the Birlings and Gerald looking at life
through rose tinted glasses. They are shown to be idealistic near the start of the play, ignoring the
cracks in Gerald and Sheila s relationship ( except for all last summer, when you never came near me )

Before this, she is shown as a docile submissive girl ( I m sorry, Daddy ) and the change would come
across as a great shock to the audience. Sheila interrupts Gerald when he says Now listen darling
which makes the audience understand the gravity of the situation. Sheila s argumentative tone which
is juxtaposed with Gerald s silence ( He does not reply ) builds an ominous mood and elevates Sheila s
anger. The argument ends before we are given substantial information, leaving us with incomplete
information and wanting to know more.
The stage direction of The door slowly opens , a metaphor for the Inspector slowly exposing each
piece of the information increases the levels of suspense in the room leaving the audience to think
about what has just happened. The Well? by the Inspector is short and simple, a contrast to the
argument between Gerald and Sheila. The rhetorical question the Inspector asks is what Priestley
wants the audience to think as well as the act ends with a

The Murder Of The Murdered Or Suicide Victims
Rationale:
Over the years I have been consistently watching the TV show Bones . In this TV show the main
protagonist is a forensic anthropologist..... Most of the TV shows I have watched over the years have
always had a forensic scientist, or forensic anthropologist. It has always been fascinating how the
forensic analysts could deduce the exact time when a person was murdered to the correct hour and
most times to the correct minute. In each of these TV shows there were three main ways on how the
protagonists determined the time of death of the murdered or suicide victims. The three ways were
rigor mortis, algor mortis, and entomology. Using these methods they had conclusive results on how
the person was murdered and when the person was murdered.
Introduction:
Forensic science is the application of science to criminal and civil laws. Forensic scientists collect,
preserve, and analyses scientific evidence during the course of an investigation. It is used in multiple
scenarios regarding criminal cases, but in the following investigation it will be used to determine the
time of death of people. There are three major methods of determining the time of death of the
deceased: Forensic Entomology, Algor Mortis, and Rigor Mortis.
Forensic entomology is used when forensic entomologists study the bugs found on the deceased to
estimate the time of death. Algor mortis is the change in body temperature following death. This is

Historical Context Of The Great Gatsby
The world was, and still is today, immensely seduced by the prosperity gained through the
achievement of the American Dream. Francis Scott Fitzgerald utilized the theme of the American
Dream in the novel The Great Gatsby to illustrate the nation s obsession with success in the eyes of
society. Fitzgerald achieved the theme through the comparison of his own life and love story to the
legendary tale of Jay Gatsby that he created. Furthermore, Fitzgerald draws from the historical time
period, the Jazz Age, to emphasize the population s lure to luxury. However, critics have discovered
the novel s inconsistencies through its several oxymorons that plague reader s interpretations of the

Fitzgerald utilized elements of the Jazz Age in The Great Gatsby to magnify the nation s addiction to
pleasure and prosperity. During the Jazz Age, a new, less restricted, outlook on life for women was
present( Historical Context: The Great Gatsby) . This was exemplified in the novel through the
character of Jordan Baker, a woman who was an athlete in a professional field. Nick Carraway, the
story s narrator, noted the following of Jordan s achievement s: At first I was flattered to go places
with her, because she was a golf champion, and everyone knew her name (Fitzgerald 57). Baker,
nonetheless of her dishonesty, was a successful woman that utilized her newfound freedom to produce
prosperity. Jordan Baker is not the only character in the novel to find prosperity during this era, as the
novel sheds light on the fixed World Series of 1919. Arnold Rothstein, a gambler, aided the Chicago
White Sox s in throwing the World Series, ( Historical Context: The Great Gatsby). In the novel, the
character of Meyer Wolfsheim is molded after Rothstein. Nick compares Wolfsheim s actions to the
single mindedness of a burglar blowing a safe (Fitzgerald 73). The comparison calls to mind the
recklessness of people during the Jazz Age that unlocked great fortune. People s recklessness during
the Jazz Age reached its greatest heights when congress passed the eighteenth amendment, banning
alcohol and sparking a series of illegal corporations that benefited from the nation s mistake
(Historical Context: The Great Gatsby). Prohibition is evident through various character s speculation
of Gatsby s illegal selling of alcohol (Fitzgerald 61). It is furthermore believed by Tom Buchanan that
Gatsby has acquired his money through bootlegging. He stated, I picked him for a bootlegger the first
time I saw him, and I wasn t far wrong (Fitzgerald 133). Prosperity is visible through Gatsby success

Keats And Finch And The Nightingale
In literature, it is generally agreed that The Nightingale invites the beholder to explore something
beyond the merely human . Both Keats and Finch imitate this concept in Ode to a Nightingale and To
the Nightingale by using poetic form and language to show the qualities of a bird that inspires them to
look beyond the physical and in Finch s case, challenge the confines of human restriction whilst
asserting poetry as a human necessity.
Keats was a key figure in the Romantic era in the first part of the 17th century which, according to
René Wellek s classic definition, sought to substitute imagination for the view of poetry, nature for the
view of the world, and symbol and myth for poetic style. Therefore, Keats Ode to a Nightingale ,
written in 1819, has an affiliation with the natural world, through both the metaphors he uses and his
meter and rhyme. The fact that the poem is an Ode to a nightingale shows that Keats is addressing the
bird in particular and therefore it asserts the link that is found in Romanticism between humans and
the natural world. M. H. Abrams states that Keats wrote this poem, whilst reminiscent of a Horation
Ode, as what came to be known as a Romantic Meditative Ode which is the personal ode of
description and passionate meditation . It is clear here that what Keats is passionate about in this poem
is the country green . Keats coined the term negative capability to describe passionate mediation in a

Tipping Experiences
Tips are generally a small amount of money given to a person as gratitude for a service that has been
provided. There are many times throughout our everyday lives in which we are put in a position to
leave a gratuity. Whether it be dining at a restaurant, getting your hair cut at the salon, or having a few
drinks with friends at a bar. In each case there was a service provided to you, now you have a decision
to make, how much of a tip is considered acceptable and should you tip everyone that provides a
service to you? There are many guidelines for consumers to follow. With modern technology there are

the 1010 wins.com website ( tip dispute leads to arrests at soprano s )the reporter tells of a story where
people actually got arrested because they refused to pay the mandatory 18% tip. At some point
consumers should have the right to draw the line when it comes to tipping. Michael Lewis says our
natural and admirable reluctance to enter into the spirit of the thing causes the thing to lose whatever
value it had in the first place (23). Tip amounts should not be mandated by the size of the party. A
gratuity should remain based upon the quality of the service that was provided.
Many people have lasting relationships with their salon technicians and other professionals such as a
favorite restaurant s staff, and the mechanic. For example when getting your hair cut or a manicure
you tend to stay loyal to one technician due to the fact that he or she does a wonderful job. Tips for
these people should be consistent and most importantly appropriate. If someone does an amazing job
for you every time you visit then they are deserving of a good tip. The holidays are a good time to be
generous with the people who served you satisfactorily all through the year.

there are experiences and outcomes that the children have achieved in the different areas of the

Due to there being a high number of staff and Early Years Officers within the nursery, multiple

If a child responds with an activity of some sort, then the staff member will take the child instantly to

the children have a large amount of free choice and play within the day, there is a set structure of

Letters on Revival is written by The Rev. Charles G. Finney in year 1946 is series of 32 letters
addressed to Ministers of the Gospel and all interested person. It is Finney s Reflections on revival and
revival meetings, written in 1845 46, and distributed in the Oberlin Evangelist, the bi weekly official
publication of Oberlin College, where Rev. Finney was Professor of Theology and in the end,
President of the College. Finney s writing reflects a lot about revival; that it is a method for saving
souls as well as changing people and, eventually, the society. Through revivalism, the church would
introduce the millennial kingdom to the world. Finney acknowledges that revival brought good change
radically and also that Christians ought to be effectively involved in transforming all areas of
community.
This paper will aim to involve a close reading on Reflection on Revivals by Charles G. Finny, We will
be discussing seven different letters which He has address to the Ministers of the Gospel and brothers.
He talks about revival but he designed his religious theology to fit his revivalist practices. His unique
perspective of original sin incorporated an improvement, the general nature of depravity, and a lack of

Choice Theory Vs Trait Theory Criminology Essay
Theories are a significant part of developing a body of knowledge within an academic discipline.
Within the domain of criminology, many theories have provided a foundation to stimulate the growth
of this area of study. The beginning of criminology began with individual level theories; they focus on
the perpetrator s individualistic features to answer the question of why crime occurs. Two major
theories that divide the individual level theories are choice theory and trait theory. Both contain
various principles within their unit. Choice theory involves classical criminology while trait theory
relates to biological, psychological, and sociological determinism. These theories use different
approaches to explain why individuals commit crime. Before legal policies and penal codes were
developed, crime and punishment could be described as barbaric. The accused were treated unfairly,

The majority of the crimes during this time were gruesomely reprimanded, and many times,
individuals had no knowledge that certain acts were illegal. Judges obtained far more discretion than
should have been allowed. Criminal acts were suggested to be caused by supernatural happenings like
Satan and demonic possessions. The first step away from such harsh system and irrational crime
provoking causes was with the development of classical criminology. In 1764, a man soon to be
named the father of modern criminology, Cesare Beccaria developed a criminal justice system
proposal which focused on aiding the people instead of the crown (Adler et al., 2007). The views of
crime and punishment drastically changed into the idea that crime should be punishable to the extent
of the crime committed. Classical criminology revolves around the idea that individuals

Repatriation is the process of returning back home from the expatriate assignment. It has been noted
that middle level managers who have completed their expatriate assignment and are returning to their
home countries have opted to leave their mother companies due to a failure to readjusted and

However, most of the recent studies have found that the repatriation process has been mishandled and
can be a bit dysfunctional in nature (Gregersen, Morrison, Black, 1998; Stroh, Black, Mendenhall,
Gregersen, 2005). The current and given repatriation strategies concerning middle managers involve
expectations of the business stakeholders such as the employees, customers, and the shareholders. The
expectations of the stakeholders can be categorized as return, risk, and the stakeholders tendency to
complain after the outcomes of the business strategies when they return less than favorable result. The
returns involve the benefits and profits, which are obtained by the shareholders. These returns involve
financial and the non financial benefits. For instance the shareholders expect the increase of their
profits and the employees expect the increase of their salaries, while customers expect the
improvement of the services respectively. The risk of a strategic policy involves the possibility of the
failure of the strategy. The consequence of the risk may be the loss of the financial and the non
financial resources. The stakeholder reactions involve the tendency of the stakeholders to oppose the
views of the employees and the customers. Moreover the workers may start to oppose some policies
such as the outsourcing policies, with the view that it may lead to the loss of their jobs. At the same
time the customers may support the merger of the companies and

The Cone Zone
The Cone Zone is a mobile ice cream truck that will cater to a wide range of people from different
economical standings and different geographical locations. Taking advantage of the popularity of food
trucks as well as the brand recognition that Jeni s ice cream has established will assist in getting the
word out, cut down on marketing needs, and position The Cone Zone in an already growing market.
Since our core product will be Jeni s Ice Cream we will be conscious of where their brick and mortar
stores are located to ensure a symbiotic relationship between the brick and mortar stores and The Cone
Zone. There are only three locations currently within the greater Nashville area leaving a huge gap in
the areas of Nashville and the surrounding areas that are currently not being tapped into. The Cone
Zone intends to take full advantage of that gap. Currently the Jeni s Ice Cream brick and mortar stores

target market will focus on young professionals and families who have disposable income and
consider themselves ingredient conscious. The quality of ingredients that are synonymous with the Jeni
s brand is perfect for this market. Jeni s Ice Cream flavors are not the typical kind one would find in a
normal ice cream shop and their prices tend to fall on the more expensive side. The younger audience
who perhaps still live at home with their parents would generally have extra spending money to spend

Subject: New Look Jackets Variance Analyses and Draft Operating Budget
Introduction
The following report explains the significance and reasons for the variances in New Look Jacket s
2012 detailed variance report and provides a draft operating budget for 2013.
Analysis of Variances
The sales price variance is zero, meaning the average price New Look Jackets sold products was the
same as the budgeted sales price.
The sales mix variance is unfavourable for Nylon Jackets and favourable for Leather Jackets as the
demand for leather jackets were unexpectedly high in 2012 and as a result, New Look Jacket sold
more leather jackets than budgeted, generating a favourable sales mix ... Show more content on

The direct material usage variance is unfavourable for leather jackets meaning NLJ did not use the
raw materials as efficiently as it could have. This was because skilled leather workers were scarce and
NLJ had to hire and train inexperienced workers which resulted in more wastage of raw materials.
The direct labour rate variance is favourable for leather jackets meaning NLJ provided a lower
average rate to workers than budgeted. This was because NLJ hired and trained inexperienced workers
to meet the increase in demand for leather jackets, who were offered a lower wage than experienced
workers.
The direct labour usage variance is unfavourable for leather jackets indicating NLJ s leather workers
did not work as efficiently as budgeted. This was because the inexperienced workers hired could not
work as efficiently as the experienced workers accounted for in the budget.
The variance overhead variance is unfavourable for leather jackets indicating NLJ spent more on
variable overhead to produce leather jackets than budgeted. This was because new specialized sewing
machines had to be purchased to meet the increased production demand of leather jackets.
The direct materials, direct labour, and variable overhead variances were zero for nylon jackets
indicating nylon jackets cost the budgeted amount to produce.
The variable selling and admin costs variance was unfavourable for leather jackets meaning

Extreme Perpetrators By William Andrew Myers Analysis
William Andrew Myers, in his essay Ethical Aliens: The Challenge of Extreme Perpetrators to
Humanism originally published in Colette Balmain and Lois Drawmer s volume edition of Something
Wicked This Way Comes: Essays on Evil and Human Wickedness (2009), examines extreme
perpetrators and our need to recognize the human in them. Myers supports his idea of extreme
perpetrators by defining these people through a few expert opinions, categorizing the three central
culprits (murderous dictators, serial killers, and ideological killers), and reasons why we distance
ourselves from them but should take the time to understand their differences from humane people. The
purpose of Myers essay is not necessarily to defend dangerous murders actions ... Show more content

The three emphasis in the theories of evil Myers refers to are the actual damage a person causes, the
motivation, intention, and will behind their actions, and finally the feelings they have about their
actions afterward. He uses these emphases to describe different levels or types of extreme perpetrators
based on their actions, impact, and mental state.
3. Myers only wants to examine the acts of extreme perpetrators rather than take into account their
motivations or emotions because we only consider their actions with a rare exception of blaming those
actions on judgments of [a] depraved character. With ordinary perpetrators, we tend to access their
moral character through their actions, motives, and feelings but it differs with the extreme offenders
cause we do not sympathize with their actions, let alone them.
4. Myers believes serial killers have captured the public s attention and imagination for many reasons.
One of these undoubtedly is the fact that until serial killers are apprehended, they represent a time
before the current generation, unknown, mysterious, and full of terror. The predators are secretive and
sly, able to attack and strike fear into the hearts of a community, and this reason I why Myers believes
that the Other in its most threatening form is such a captivating

Mentally Retarded Criminals Should Face the Death Penalty...
On June 26, 1989, the United States Supreme Court, in the case of Penry v. Lynaugh, upheld the
imposition of the death penaklty on a mentally retarded offender, John Penry (Chan 1211). The Court,
also, held that the Federal Constitution s eighth amendment s cruel and unusual punishment clause is
not violated by the execution of mentally retarded defendants (Cook 869). I strongly concur with the
United States Supreme Court s decision. I do not believe that mentally retarded defendants should be
categorically exempt from the death penalty because of their retardation. I hold this position because
IQ test results are sometimes unreliable, there are different degrees of understanding of right and
wrong among mentally retarded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
High reliabilities are especially needed for tests used for individual assessment such as in court cases
(Sattler 26).
Each IQ test incorporates a standard error of measurement, which is the variation between the
obtained score and the true score. This difference is sometimes as much as fifteen points. Thus, the IQ
score obtrained by a defendant is only one of many possible scores that may be achieved with
different sample questions or the same questions at a different time (Rumley 1334). Should a mentally
retarded defendant with an IQ of 70 be exempt from the death penalty when his score could range
anywhere from 85 to 55? I vehemently believe that a blanket exemption from the death penalty
because of an unreliable IQ score is wrong. In addition, Grossman states that the IQ s of mentally
retarded persons do not remain constant. Studies have shown great fluctuation in IQ scores for such
reasons as fatigue or illness. Numerous studies indicate that motivational factors can affect IQ scores
(Grossman 26 27). Certainly a defendant facing the death penalty would be highly motivated to do
poorly on an IQ test knowing that a score of 70 or below could save him from the death penalty.
Although the reliability of IQ test results is questionable, many states including Georgia, Tennessee,
Kentucky, Maryland, and New Mexico have enacted legislation categorically prohibiting the
execution of defendants who have an IQ of 70 or below

Why Did Fahrenheit Grow So Quickly With The Hand Without...
This is the engines of our ingenuity made possible by the friends of KUHF, Houston. Today, lets look
at thermometry. The University of Houston s Honors College presents this series about the machines
that make our civilization run, and the people whose ingenuity created them. It is 5 AM in the
morning, a mother hears her child coughing and weeping. Immediately the mother looks for and grabs
a thermometer to check for a fever. Consider the difficulty to quantity fever precisely with the hand
without the thermometer. The thermometer was able to reach American households on a grand scale
due to Gabriel Daniel Fahrenheit. Fahrenheit was born in Danzig, Poland to a German merchant
family in 1686. At the age of fifteen, Fahrenheit was orphaned when his parents died from eating
poisonous mushrooms. Fahrenheit was the eldest of five siblings. His future was determined by the
city assembly, sending him to Amsterdam for an apprenticeship to learn business. Fahrenheit however
had a particular interest in science; he had zero desire to get into sales to succeed his late father s
business. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Fahrenheit to skip out of his apprenticeship and immerse himself in meteorological experiments,

Baz Luhrman s Film Romeo and Juliet
Baz Luhrman s Film Romeo and Juliet In the film Romeo and Juliet , Baz Luhrman said that he was
trying to recreate the impact of the original Elizabethan production for a modern mass audience. I am
trying to find out the challenges he faced and how he solved them and say how successful he was in
making the script work for a modern audience. The problems faced by a modern director of Romeo
and Juliet Shakespeare s original audience and theatre and the style and drama Shakespeare s original
audience was made up of the whole social range. At one end of the social scale were the working
people. These were known as the groundlings because they were poor. They paid less and so they had

The big writing I mentioned are important phrases picked out from the prologue such as two star
crossed lovers take their life. The beginning of the film had a fast and furious opening which made it
more dramatic. The beginning is set at a petrol station which tells us it is modern. I think that because
the language was introduced to us in this way anyone can watch it and gradually will be able to
understand the language. Modern attitudes to Shakespeare: Theatre cinema audiences compared. In
the theatre people used to think it is a rowdy day out. Going to the theatre wasn t very comfortable in
those days because a lot of people had to stand the whole way through the play, and wouldn t have
been able to sit quietly and watch the play like we do in cinemas. People didn t take plays to seriously
and would have talked through the play and even sometimes shouted at the actors. With a play like
Romeo and Juliet there could have been audience participation too. People might have hissed at
Tybalt, or cheered or laughed when Romeo kisses Juliet because even Juliet was played by men too.
The actors would have talked through the play about something

Impact Of The American Automotive Industry Essay
The American automotive industry is a massive force, to say the least. The historical impacts of
automotive technology and assembly line manufacturing has effected economies around the world and
has also created world wide ecological challenges. Governments, under pressure from
environmentalists, have had to realize, create, implement, and constantly refine manufacturing and
emission standards. Consumers, who foot the gas bill for vehicles, continue to express their desire for
less expensive autos that require less fuel without sacrificing style, comfort, safety, or performance.
One cannot discuss the impacts of the American automotive industry without giving due credit to
Henry Ford. While Ford did not create the first gas powered car, nor the first assembly line, he did
revolutionize both (Voice of America, 2012). He was an accomplished machinist and one day he
discovered a gas powered machine called a Silent Otto (Voice of America, 2012). Henry was a self
motivated independent learner who relished innovative challenges. As his innovations developed
marketable products, Ford insisted on making cars that were affordable for everyone. The
improvements he made to assembly line manufacturing streamlined production and kept consumer
costs low, even though he had to fight tooth and nail to retain this control. Ford s advancements in
mass production lead to foreign expansion in Japan and Western Europe after both World War 1 and
World War II (The Automotive

A Summary Of Artificial Intelligence
Summary Artificial intelligence and robotics are growing to become increasingly influential in our
society. With new technology always comes new concerns however, with this particular technology,
there are much greater concerns than any event in history. Artificial intelligence has presented dangers
such as a loss of employment across all job spectrums, an exponentially increased wage gap in which
there are a select few who hold the majority of the wealth and the rest are impoverished, and the mere
fact that the magnitude of knowledge that would be acquired in incomprehensible to humans. The
main reason AI is so threatening is its ability to teach itself to improve, this is known as machine
learning. Through all the contrasting arguments on the implications of these new technologies, one
common fact can be agreed on by supporters and resisters alike: artificial intelligence in inevitable, it
is coming, no one truly knows when and how but the fact remains that, eventually, artificial
intelligence will be integrated with society as we know it. Loss of Employment The main argument
that is commonly made concerning the repercussions of Artificial Intelligence is that it will
aggressively limit the amount of jobs available to humans. This is no new story. Machines have been
slowly replacing human labor in assembly lines around the world due to the increased efficiency and
lower cost of mechanical labor. The weight of this threat is largely due to the fact that, for the first

Examples Of Focus Observation

Context
I observed Lou for about twenty minutes on Monday, March 13th, 2017 and about forty five minutes
on Thursday March 16th, 2017. On Monday, Lou was involved in a lot of different activities with her
classmates because it was play time. When I first walked into the classroom she was playing with the
dollhouse with two other classmates. As I was sitting at the table with Sam to find out what she was
making Lou told me about the new student they have in the classroom, her name, and how she is
unable to speak English, but can understand it. After Lou told me about the new student she started
playing cars with her. On Thursday, I came to observe Lou and Sam play the math game and complete

clean up and after clean up, Sam and Lou joined me to do the math activities I brought. Both days
seemed to be a typical day.
Preparations
For both students, I prepared for this observation by researching the Ohio standards made for pre

Actions of Drugs
Actions of drugs on cardiovascular preparations
Introducion
The experiment outlined in this report was carried out with the intention to observe and explore the
effects of certain named drugs on a vascular preparation, in the cardiac region specifically. The
cardiovascular preparation used in this experiment was an isolation of the descending aorta of a rat.
This isolate is particularly useful as it mirrors the responses that would be observed in a human
sample, thus this experiment will give rise to conclusions applicable to humans. The drugs which will
be tested are as follows: acetylcholine, adrenaline, 5 hydroxytryptamine, isoprenaline, noradrenaline
and sodium nitroprusside. As the preparation, inherently was not in a live ... Show more content on

As the added drug would be diluted in the organ bath it was important to calculate doses with that in
mind. Accordingly all calculations were made with the view of the end result, the final bath
concentration (FBC). To achieve the correct final bath concentration it was assumed that the organ
bath had a 25ml volume and then the corresponding quantity and concentration of drug was added. As
an example, 0.25 ml of 10μmol/l concentration of drug X was added to ~24.75ml of Krebs solution to
achieve a 1 in 100 dilution resulting in a final bath concentration of 0.1μmol/l.
Hence, the experimental procedure was executed as detailed here. A syringe fitted with a hypodermic
needle was used to infuse the drug into the organ bath away from the tissue sample. To help maintain
fair testing conditions it was done such that throughout the experiment the drug was injected at the
same speed at the same location. Prior to injecting, the syringe was checked for bubbles of air
accidentally acquired during uptake of the drug, as this would cause alterations in volume of drug and
thus alterations in FBC. Time at which the drug was added was recorded using the Biopac software.
Subsequently, two minutes was allowed for the interactions and binding of the drug to occur, in which
time the live recordings were monitored for changes. Once sufficient time was allowed to see a
significant change in

  • 2. Biography of Moses Essay Main focus will be on Moses. He was the greatest prophet, leader, and teacher of Judaism. By focusing on Moses, I ll incorporate the importance of certain passages that prove the Old Testament; and show how Moses role was significant and essential to the Hebrews. Moses 1400 B.C.E In a nutshell... Moses was born in a very difficult time: Pharaoh had ordered that all male children born to Hebrew slaves should be drowned in the river (Exodus. 1:22). Moses mother hid him for three months, and when she could no longer hide him, she put him in an ark and placed it on the river where Pharaoh s daughter bathed (Ex. 2:2 3). Pharaoh s daughter found the child and had compassion for him (Exodus. 2:6). Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People of Mesopotamia, Egypt, India accepted various gods. However descendents of Abraham who traveled through the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers [from Abrahams Native Ur to Egypt] came in contact with many different religious beliefs. In the Hebrew bible, the golden calf was an idol made by Aaron for the Israelites during Moses unexpectedly long absence. It is first mentioned in Exodus 32:4. When Moses went up onto Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments (Exodus 19:20), he left the Israelites for forty days and forty nights (Exodus 24:18). The Israelites feared that he would not return, and asked Aaron to make a god for them (Exodus 32:1). The Bible does not note Aaron s opinion of this request; merely that he complied, and gathered up the Israelites golden earrings. He melted them to construct the golden calf. He also built an altar before the calf, and the next day, the Israelites made offerings and celebrated. G d told Moses that his people had corrupted themselves, and that he planned to eliminate them, but Moses argued and pleaded that they should be spared (Exodus 32:11); G d relented. Moses came down from the mountain, but upon seeing the calf, he became very angry; and as a result threw down the tablets upon which G d s law had been written causing them to break. He ground up the golden calf, mixed its powder with water, and forced the Israelites to drink it. Then he gathered the tribe of Levi, (Moses was Levi s great grandchildren. Their ... • 3. Religious Conflict in Russia RELIGIOUS CONFLICT IN RUSSIA One of the great ironies of history is that Marxism, an atheistic theory, was first implemented in Russia—a land inhabited by millions of believers practicing most of the world s great religions. In fact, religion is so integral to the culture and history of Russia, it would be impossible to gain a full understanding for the unique character of the country and its people without a careful examination of the religious factors at play throughout its history. BACKGROUND Basic Demographics Any discussion of Russia must begin with its single most striking feature—its sheer vastness. During World War II, a German general noted how his troops were depressed by the monotony of the landscape and the immensity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In terms of languages, Russian is the common official language throughout the Federation, understood by 99 percent of its current inhabitants and widespread in many adjacent areas of Asia and Eastern Europe. However, national subdivisions of Russia have additional official languages, further reflecting the diverse ethnicity of the country. As a result, there are more than 100 languages spoken throughout the nation, most tied to the particular ethnic groups from which they sprang. Economics and Education Perhaps the most significant impact of the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 has been the economic chaos which subsequently consumed the country. For five years following the collapse, Russia saw its comparatively developed centrally planned economy contract severely. It was not until 1997 that Russia began to show signs of recovery as a result of its new open market policies. Since that time, the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country has grown by an average of 6.7 percent per year, largely on the back of oil exports, as well as a steadily developing service and industrial output. Currently, Russia s GDP by purchasing power parity (PPP) is approximately $1.5 trillion, making it the ninth largest economy in the world and the fifth largest in Europe. If this growth rate is sustained, the country will become the second largest European economy after Germany and the sixth largest in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Protein from food is broken down into amino acids by the digestive system. Amino acids are used to build and repair muscles, for making hormones, red blood cells, hair and other tissues. Adequate protein intake is also important for a healthy immune system. Because protein is a source of calories, it will be used for energy. Carbohydrates can be grouped into two categories: simple and complex. Simple carbohydrates are sugars, complex carbohydrates consist of starch and dietary fibre. Carbohydrate provides the body with energy that used to fuel it. Since carbohydrate is our preferred sources of fuel, our body must find another source of energy when we do not eat enough. As a result, the body will break down stored fat in a process called ketosis. Ketosis produces a fuel called ketones and is an important process that ensure sufficient energy is provided to the brain. When adequate carbohydrate intake continues for an extended period of time excessive ketone are produced resulting in acid acidic blood and a condition called ketoacidosis. • 8. Emancipationawassone Of The American Civil War Emancipationawassone of the most profound consequences of the American Civil War. During and after the war, about four million enslaved African Americans in the United States became free persons. This generation had a significant influence on American history, an influence that has yet to be fully recognized. During this remarkable period of transition, former slaves stabilized their family lives, sought to control their work environments, established their own schools and churches, and participated in public life as citizens. While these goals may appear straightforward to us today, they were anything but simple to achieve at the time. The transition from slavery to freedom was as extraordinary as it was complex. Newly freed African Americans experienced both boundless joy and excruciating disappointment as they established themselves as free persons. Freed people frequently encountered violent resistance to their efforts to become paid workers and active citizens. Many white southerners refused to accept former slaves as free persons. The state of Tennessee provides a particularly rich case study of the transition from slavery to freedom during the Civil War and Reconstruction. Second only to Virginia in the number of skirmishes and battles on its soil, Tennessee was at the heart of the conflict between North and South. The chaos of war visited many Tennessee communities and served to break down the bonds that kept 275,000 individuals enslaved. Most Tennessee ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Cultural Safety And Nursing Practice Cultural safety is a concept that is integral to providing best care to patients in nursing practice. The CRNBC defines cultural safety as a process requiring RNs to reflect on their cultural identity, and develop their practice in a way that allows them to affirm the culture of their patients; cultural unsafety can be defined as any actions which demean, diminish, or disempower the cultural identity and well being of people; this also addresses the dynamics of the power relationship between the Health Care Provider and the patient (p17). Although an environment of cultural safety is a standard that we are held to as nurses, this ideal is not always reached. In this paper I will discuss one such incidence, as well as some of the changes that will assist myself as a nurse, as well as others members of the healthcare team to create an environment of cultural safety. Culturally Unsafe Experience Through my nursing practice, I was on a team caring a patient who we will refer to as John. John was a middle aged Aboriginal gentleman. He was hospitalized due to end stage liver failure, secondary to alcohol abuse. As a result, John was receiving end of life comfort care. While in the room with John, the nurses were always very considerate of him and provided him with adequate end of life care. However, as soon as the nurses would leave the room, they would discuss his condition with other nurses. This included talking about how they don t feel empathetic for him or enjoy caring for ... • 10. The Vaccination It begins as minor flu symptoms. But then things seem to never get any better. As symptoms become more severe, a person is advised to go see a doctor. It turns out the individual did not have the flu. It was something far worse, something more treacherous, something more contagious, something chilling, something life threatening. This disease is known as bacterial meningitis. It is possibly a college student s worst nightmare, and a disease that students should be well informed about. But while the bacterial infection is rather rare, it s also terminal, killing 10 to 12 percent of those it infects, sometimes within hours. The disease attacks and closes up major organs and prevents blood from circulating to limbs, causing tissue to die. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why not also ensure they are paying for a safe environment by imposing this proposal. No university would want their public safety to be questionable when students are making the tough decision on whether or not to attend. Though the disease has no general region to be transmitted, next year a school such as A M may be passed up by students due to the incident with Williams. An opposer to this view may complain that the Meningococcal vaccination does not protect students from all strains of meningitis, but this is the case with every vaccination. The vaccination is created to protect society from the most common strain of the disease, and the overall rarity of these diseases only calls for the single vaccination of this strain. Another importance of this proposal is personal safety. As nature proves, only the strong survive. Meaning, one must put themselves first as far as safety when matters such as this arise. When the subject of meningitis is brought up to most college students, by the end of the conversation the person fears the disease as though it were serial killer on the loose. This is not necessary, as it is made so easy now a days to go and receive vaccination. Another possible complaint made by opposers, is that a person may be allergic to chemicals within the vaccination, so why put themselves at risk? On average it is quite uncommon for someone to have an allergic reaction to the vaccination. If someone did have a reaction the symptoms ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Failure Of Nokia As it was stated in the introduction, with the smartphone revolution, Nokia failed to understand the future direction of mobile devices. This underestimation of the rising innovation, in terms of global market shares, led to a drastic decline from 2007 to 2013, the company lost 45.2% of its market shares (Statista, 2014). It is worth mentioning, that in 2004, at Nokia s Espoo headquarters, researchers have presented a mobile phone prototype, which was able to connect to the internet and it was controlled by a touch screen (O Brien, 2010). However, Nokia s senior management had rejected the idea, stating that it would be an expensive failure to develop it. That allowed American and Asian companies to become leading companies, as they adopted a more innovative idea of the smartphone. Being innovative in the telecommunication industry means for Nokia competing in a fast developing and booming networking sector, which generates most of the company s revenue. Chaudhuri (2015) believes, that in Nokia s case, presence in telecommunication industry is more profitable than mobile handsets manufacturing. This strategy shift may allow the company to win the game by redefining market orientation. It is crucial that the interviews and interview questions be well structured to gain the highest quality of information gathered during the interviews. Proper communication and collaboration is critical in the beginning phases for collecting and large quantity of good quality information. Along with interviewing, it would be beneficial to hold a JAD (Joint Application development) session with the stakeholders so everyone may come together and share their opinions and knowledge of the system. While a JAD session may have high costs, the benefits of a JAD session are very high as the session enables analysts, developers and the stakeholders to come together and work towards the design of the new system. • 13. Explain How Are Gradients Important In Diffusion And Osmosis Questions to Ponder: What is kinetic energy and how does it differ from potential energy? Kinetic energy is the energy of motion, however potential energy is the energy that is stored. What environmental factors affect kinetic energy and diffusion? Factors like temperature, surface area, and salinity affect kinetic energy and diffusion. Why do these factors alter kinetic energy and diffusion? Temperature increases kinetic energy of the molecules, facilatating faster diffusion of particles as particles now have a greater speed and thus more readily diffuse across the membrane. Higher surface area allows for greater diffusion as more particles can enter at once with more room in which to enter. Higher salinity means more particles within ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... How are gradients important in diffusion and osmosis? Without gradients, diffusion and osmosis would not be possible. This is because diffusion is the movement of particles down concentration gradients and osmosis is the diffusion of water, which means they both require gradients to function. What is the explanation for the fact that most cells are small and have cell membranes with many convolutions? Higher surface area to volume ratio as being small minimizes volume and having many folds maximizes surface area. With a higher surface area, greater diffusion rates can occur as there is a larger area for nutrients and water to pass through. Will water move into or out of a plant cell if the cell has a higher water potential than the surrounding environment? Because substance move from high concentration to low concentration, water will go out of the cell and into the surrounding environment. What would happen if you applied saltwater to a ... Sputum tests may be required for testing if the chest x ray reveals signs of TB. Tuberculosis can spread by contagious airborne droplets that are passed on easily through close contact with a person who has active or untreated TB. As a person coughs, sneezes, or interacts, it can relinquish infectious droplets into the air. Once a person inhales the infectious droplet (bacillus), it settles in the upper airways. Bacteria in droplets that bypass the mucociliary system and reach the alveoli are expeditiously circumvented and engulfed by alveolar macrophages, the most abundant immune effector cells present in alveolar spaces (Knechel, 2009). These macrophages are a component of the immune system that fights to destroy the mycobacteria to obviate infection. The outcome is essentially determined by the quality of the host bulwarks and the balance that occurs between host bulwarks and the invading mycobacteria (Knechel, 2009). If the alveolar macrophage fails to overcome the inhaled mycobacteria, the bacteria will replicate until the macrophage lysis. As the monocytes are magnetized to the infection site, it then separates into macrophages and consumes the free bacilli. The mycobacteria then multiply within the macrophages causing it to become infected. The infected macrophages may then be transported to the lymph nodes where it can easily reach the blood stream. Correlation is a measure of the relation between two or more variables. The measurement scales used should be at least interval scales, but other correlation coefficients are available to handle other types of data. Correlation coefficients can range from 1.00 to +1.00. The value of 1.00 represents a perfect negative correlation while a value of +1.00 represents a perfect positive correlation. A value of 0.00 represents a lack of correlation. Correlations are very useful because they can indicate a predictive relationship that can be exploited in practice. For example, an electrical utility may produce less power on a mild day based on the correlation between electricity demand and weather. In this example there is a causal relationship, because extreme weather causes people to use more electricity for heating or cooling; however, statistical dependence is not sufficient to demonstrate the presence of such a causal relationship (i.e., Correlation does not imply causation). Correlation often is abused. You need to show that one variable actually is affecting another variable. The parameter being measure is ρ (rho) ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Keats And Finch And The Nightingale In literature, it is generally agreed that The Nightingale invites the beholder to explore something beyond the merely human . Both Keats and Finch imitate this concept in Ode to a Nightingale and To the Nightingale by using poetic form and language to show the qualities of a bird that inspires them to look beyond the physical and in Finch s case, challenge the confines of human restriction whilst asserting poetry as a human necessity. Keats was a key figure in the Romantic era in the first part of the 17th century which, according to René Wellek s classic definition, sought to substitute imagination for the view of poetry, nature for the view of the world, and symbol and myth for poetic style. Therefore, Keats Ode to a Nightingale , written in 1819, has an affiliation with the natural world, through both the metaphors he uses and his meter and rhyme. The fact that the poem is an Ode to a nightingale shows that Keats is addressing the bird in particular and therefore it asserts the link that is found in Romanticism between humans and the natural world. M. H. Abrams states that Keats wrote this poem, whilst reminiscent of a Horation Ode, as what came to be known as a Romantic Meditative Ode which is the personal ode of description and passionate meditation . • 41. Choice Theory Vs Trait Theory Criminology Essay Theories are a significant part of developing a body of knowledge within an academic discipline. Within the domain of criminology, many theories have provided a foundation to stimulate the growth of this area of study. The beginning of criminology began with individual level theories; they focus on the perpetrator s individualistic features to answer the question of why crime occurs. Two major theories that divide the individual level theories are choice theory and trait theory. Both contain various principles within their unit. Choice theory involves classical criminology while trait theory relates to biological, psychological, and sociological determinism. These theories use different approaches to explain why individuals commit crime. Before legal policies and penal codes were developed, crime and punishment could be described as barbaric. The accused were treated unfairly, cruel and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Judges obtained far more discretion than should have been allowed. Criminal acts were suggested to be caused by supernatural happenings like Satan and demonic possessions. The first step away from such harsh system and irrational crime provoking causes was with the development of classical criminology. In 1764, a man soon to be named the father of modern criminology, Cesare Beccaria developed a criminal justice system proposal which focused on aiding the people instead of the crown (Adler et al., 2007). The views of crime and punishment drastically changed into the idea that crime should be punishable to the extent of the crime committed. Extreme Perpetrators By William Andrew Myers Analysis William Andrew Myers, in his essay Ethical Aliens: The Challenge of Extreme Perpetrators to Humanism originally published in Colette Balmain and Lois Drawmer s volume edition of Something Wicked This Way Comes: Essays on Evil and Human Wickedness (2009), examines extreme perpetrators and our need to recognize the human in them. Myers supports his idea of extreme perpetrators by defining these people through a few expert opinions, categorizing the three central culprits (murderous dictators, serial killers, and ideological killers), and reasons why we distance ourselves from them but should take the time to understand their differences from humane people. The purpose of Myers essay is not necessarily to defend dangerous murders actions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The three emphasis in the theories of evil Myers refers to are the actual damage a person causes, the motivation, intention, and will behind their actions, and finally the feelings they have about their actions afterward. He uses these emphases to describe different levels or types of extreme perpetrators based on their actions, impact, and mental state. 3. Myers only wants to examine the acts of extreme perpetrators rather than take into account their motivations or emotions because we only consider their actions with a rare exception of blaming those actions on judgments of [a] depraved character. With ordinary perpetrators, we tend to access their moral character through their actions, motives, and feelings but it differs with the extreme offenders cause we do not sympathize with their actions, let alone them. 4. Myers believes serial killers have captured the public s attention and imagination for many reasons. One of these undoubtedly is the fact that until serial killers are apprehended, they represent a time before the current generation, unknown, mysterious, and full of terror. The predators are secretive and sly, able to attack and strike fear into the hearts of a community, and this reason I why Myers believes that the Other in its most threatening form is such a captivating ... • 46. Mentally Retarded Criminals Should Face the Death Penalty... On June 26, 1989, the United States Supreme Court, in the case of Penry v. Lynaugh, upheld the imposition of the death penaklty on a mentally retarded offender, John Penry (Chan 1211). The Court, also, held that the Federal Constitution s eighth amendment s cruel and unusual punishment clause is not violated by the execution of mentally retarded defendants (Cook 869). I strongly concur with the United States Supreme Court s decision. I do not believe that mentally retarded defendants should be categorically exempt from the death penalty because of their retardation. I hold this position because IQ test results are sometimes unreliable, there are different degrees of understanding of right and wrong among mentally retarded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... High reliabilities are especially needed for tests used for individual assessment such as in court cases (Sattler 26). Each IQ test incorporates a standard error of measurement, which is the variation between the obtained score and the true score. This difference is sometimes as much as fifteen points. Thus, the IQ score obtrained by a defendant is only one of many possible scores that may be achieved with different sample questions or the same questions at a different time (Rumley 1334). Should a mentally retarded defendant with an IQ of 70 be exempt from the death penalty when his score could range anywhere from 85 to 55? I vehemently believe that a blanket exemption from the death penalty because of an unreliable IQ score is wrong. In addition, Grossman states that the IQ s of mentally retarded persons do not remain constant. Studies have shown great fluctuation in IQ scores for such reasons as fatigue or illness. Numerous studies indicate that motivational factors can affect IQ scores (Grossman 26 27). Certainly a defendant facing the death penalty would be highly motivated to do poorly on an IQ test knowing that a score of 70 or below could save him from the death penalty. Although the reliability of IQ test results is questionable, many states including Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Maryland, and New Mexico have enacted legislation categorically prohibiting the execution of defendants who have an IQ of 70 or below ... The historical impacts of automotive technology and assembly line manufacturing has effected economies around the world and has also created world wide ecological challenges. Governments, under pressure from environmentalists, have had to realize, create, implement, and constantly refine manufacturing and emission standards. Consumers, who foot the gas bill for vehicles, continue to express their desire for less expensive autos that require less fuel without sacrificing style, comfort, safety, or performance. One cannot discuss the impacts of the American automotive industry without giving due credit to Henry Ford. While Ford did not create the first gas powered car, nor the first assembly line, he did revolutionize both (Voice of America, 2012). He was an accomplished machinist and one day he discovered a gas powered machine called a Silent Otto (Voice of America, 2012). Henry was a self motivated independent learner who relished innovative challenges. As his innovations developed marketable products, Ford insisted on making cars that were affordable for everyone. The improvements he made to assembly line manufacturing streamlined production and kept consumer costs low, even though he had to fight tooth and nail to retain this control. With new technology always comes new concerns however, with this particular technology, there are much greater concerns than any event in history. Artificial intelligence has presented dangers such as a loss of employment across all job spectrums, an exponentially increased wage gap in which there are a select few who hold the majority of the wealth and the rest are impoverished, and the mere fact that the magnitude of knowledge that would be acquired in incomprehensible to humans. The main reason AI is so threatening is its ability to teach itself to improve, this is known as machine learning. Through all the contrasting arguments on the implications of these new technologies, one common fact can be agreed on by supporters and resisters alike: artificial intelligence in inevitable, it is coming, no one truly knows when and how but the fact remains that, eventually, artificial intelligence will be integrated with society as we know it. Loss of Employment The main argument that is commonly made concerning the repercussions of Artificial Intelligence is that it will aggressively limit the amount of jobs available to humans. This is no new story. Machines have been slowly replacing human labor in assembly lines around the world due to the increased efficiency and lower cost of mechanical labor. As the added drug would be diluted in the organ bath it was important to calculate doses with that in mind. Accordingly all calculations were made with the view of the end result, the final bath concentration (FBC). To achieve the correct final bath concentration it was assumed that the organ bath had a 25ml volume and then the corresponding quantity and concentration of drug was added. As an example, 0.25 ml of 10μmol/l concentration of drug X was added to ~24.75ml of Krebs solution to achieve a 1 in 100 dilution resulting in a final bath concentration of 0.1μmol/l. Hence, the experimental procedure was executed as detailed here. A syringe fitted with a hypodermic needle was used to infuse the drug into the organ bath away from the tissue sample. To help maintain fair testing conditions it was done such that throughout the experiment the drug was injected at the same speed at the same location. Prior to injecting, the syringe was checked for bubbles of air accidentally acquired during uptake of the drug, as this would cause alterations in volume of drug and thus alterations in FBC. Time at which the drug was added was recorded using the Biopac software. Subsequently, two minutes was allowed for the interactions and binding of the drug to occur, in which time the live recordings were monitored for changes.
