Angels In America Play Analysis
The play made me feel several emotions. For the most part, I sympathized with the majority of the
characters. I especially felt an emotional attachment to Prior and Harper. Both of these characters
needed to be taken care of, but they were ultimately abandoned. Harper seems confident that she will
be fine on her own, but the thought of her being alone still saddens me. I was also happy to read a play
that dealt with Mormonism. I grew up as a Mormon and I am interested when a piece of work
addresses that particular form of Christianity. Mormonism is not addressed in theatre and
entertainment very often, so I found that particular element of the play interesting. It is clear that AIDS
is an important subject in Angels in America: Millennium

Essay On Scotland Act 1998
Scotland is considered as the most northerly part of the United Kingdom as it occupied one third of
total area of the United Kingdom. Scotland has an important and strategic location as it is bordered by
England from the south, Atlantic Ocean from the north and west and by the North Sea from the west.
However Scotland is considered as one of the poorest countries in Europe, it has contributed to
political theories as it also played an important role in the scientific innovations.
In the early middle ages, Scotland was an independent state until 1707. In 1603, King James VI ruled
both England and Scotland, then he showed his intension to unite the two states and they were united
which is called Anglo Scottish Union. Scotland s relations with England, ... Show more content on

The Little Rock Nine led the way to extensive changes in the schools in the United States, empowered
African Americans to effectively protest nonviolently, and significantly expedited the Civil Rights

Compare The Emergence Of First Financial Crisis In 1720...
The emergence of First Financial Crisis in 1720 and the stock market crash of 1929 were both the
results of speculation, but also market inflex ibilities. The South Sea Bubble of 1720 succeeding
Financial Revolution events in England, had its major shadow on European economy. The crash of
1929 in US was closely tied to post war consequences and the over op timism of Golden 20 .While
both crises were separated in time by the two centuries, similarities between them outgrow the
differences.
Firstly, it s crucial to set both events in time and compare the circum stances in which they occurred.

Middle Age Politics In The Middle Ages
The Renaissance was the birth of a new time in the Middle Ages. The Renaissance marked a turning
point in Middle Age politics by the building and developing of strong monarchs. These monarchs
began reducing violence, establishing domestic order, and curbing unruly nobles.
In the Renaissance, The French, English, and Spanish worked aggressively to rebuild and improve
their governments. In the Middle Ages, the French had been largely depopulated due to the Black
Plague and Hundred Years War. Leading to the French becoming economically ruined and
agriculturally weak due to the shortage of workers. King Charles VII revived France through a strong
monarchy leading to its recovery. Charles reconciled the Burgundians and Armagnacs, who had been

American Pop Art Essay
Examine the mass media s influence on both the formal and iconographic features of American Pop
Art. Centre your discussion on one or two examples each of the work of the following artists: Andy
Warhol, Claes Oldenburg, Roy Lichtenstein, Tom Wesselmann, James Rosenquist.
Pop Art is one of the major art movements of the Twentieth Century. Characterized by themes and
techniques drawn from mass culture such as advertising and comic books, pop art is widely
interpreted as a reaction to the ideas of abstract expressionism which preceded Pop in the late 1940s
and early 1950s.
The decade of the 1960s was perhaps one of the most provocative, in terms of culture, politics and
philosophy, of the 20th century. The amazing growth that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Campbell s Soup Cans as well as Warhol s famous Marilyn Monroe, (1962, Leo Castelli Gallery) are
silk screened paintings based on the mass produced. These images are often presented in a series by
which Warhol repeats the picture a large number of times on the same canvas or on separate canvases.
Each image in the series is slightly different from the next one. Warhol utilizes a wide range of color
from the monochrome to the vivid and vibrant. In his Campbell Soup painting, numerous rows and
columns of red and white Campbell soup cans are painted alongside each other. They are all identical
except for the flavor of the soup that is written on each can. Warhol s main aesthetic strategies were
based on the fashion industry and mass media advertising. This means that he constantly used
reproduction and incessant repetition in the art work. But it was repetition and reproduction without a
message. For example, the statement ‘Black Bean on the Campbell s soup can is meaningless when it
is reproduced in art, which is exactly how mass advertising works and Warhol wanted his artwork to
have this same effect. However, Warhol s Campbell s soup did not only function as an illustration of
commercial industry and advertisement, it was an intrinsic part of Warhol s life and memories and
popular culture. For him the soup represented a feeling of being at home with family. It was what the

The Picture of Dorian Gray
The Picture of Dorian Gray Parallel between Dorian and his Self portrait
Oscar Wilde s novel, The Picture of Dorian Gray , presented many themes. One such theme is the idea
of doubleness. Oscar Wilde used this as a technique to link his characters and ideas. While doubleness
is shown in many aspects of the novel, the most obvious and most important presence of it is the
parallel between the main character, Dorian, and his self portrait. This bond between Dorian and his
picture is crucial to the understanding of the novel. Dorian and the picture are in a sense one character
acting as two.
When Basil paints the portrait of Dorian Gray, Dorian becomes angry and curses the picture. The idea

It wasn t until his conversation with Harry that he embraced his new discovery as a blessing. He
vowed to live his life as he pleased; seeking only happiness and pleasure. Any sins he committed
would be forever hidden within the picture. He no longer had to except responsibility for his actions.
Wilde states that the portrait was to bear the burden of his shame: that was all. (86) Dorian would
forever keep his youth and innocent looks, but only in return for his heart and soul. He valued beauty
so much that he willingly gave up his essence and being. The picture truly is the most magical of
mirrors (87) and as Wilde states, as it had revealed to him his own body, so it would reveal to him his
own soul. (87) Dorian is empty at this point. He is nothing more then a walking breathing corpse. The
picture has become him.
This life suited Dorian fine until his later years when he begins to realize his many mistakes and feels
regret for his actions. The portrait that haunted him for so many years was a direct reflection as to how
horrible he really was. In the beginning of the novel Dorian thought that the picture would mock him
by remaining young and beautiful, but ironically, the picture mocked him for all of its days after the
change. It drove him crazy, and made him weary and paranoid of everyone. He feared the thought of
anyone discovering it and exposing him for the fraud he was. In a

The Poetry Of Edgar Allan Poe
When hearing the name Edgar Allan Poe, it is simple to know who is being talked about, the mostly
grim, melancholy, and dark poet. Along with many other people who have been through rough times,
Poe expresses his past experiences and pain through a work specific to him, short stories and poems.
Edgar Allan Poe uses his life s story to write pieces that display the time period he lived in, the
influences on his poetry, and solid topics that are critiqued. First off, Poe discreetly uses certain dialect
in his work that brings attention to the time period he lived in. Due to Poe being born in Boston 19
January 1809 , he had more of what now seems to be older and formal dialect in his work (Kennedy
page 734). Back then, a romantic and time consuming thought that was a love that the wingèd seraphs
of Heaven Coveted where the bond between two people was seemingly unbreakable (Poe line 11). The
use of the word wingèd implies that Poe lived in an earlier century due to the fact that no one today
talks like that. Edgar Allan Poe uses many phrases to indicate what time period he lived in. When he
died Sunday October 7 in 1849, it was still in the time period of formal and proper speech (Kennedy
page 734). To be shut up in a sepulcher was the kind of thing Poe would reference in his work in one
way or another, but this would not be said like that today. The people of this century would say
phrases including six feet under , one foot in the grave , tombstone , etc. which is significantly less
sophisticated than the phrases that were used during Poe s time. Next, Poe had a rough life that greatly
influenced his writing. Edgar Allan Poe went through embrace and joy with people in which they
loved with a love that was more than a love , for example, his fourteen year old first cousin, Virginia
Clemm (Poe line 9) (Bleiler page 596). Such love led Poe to creating portions of his works based on
this overwhelming feeling of excitement, sincerity, and loyalty. However, as it is well too known, not
everything is picture perfect. Poe, much like everyone else, had many tragic heartaches. One of his
most significant heartaches would be Virginia s death in 1847 where she died due to illness (Prida
page 225).

The American Dream In Michael Jackson s The Man In The Mirror
Michael Jackson is known as the King of Pop and during his time he created multiple songs that hold
deep meanings and positively promoted what individuals morality should be composed of. One of
Jackson s world renowned pieces was a song called The Man In The Mirror , which represents change
and making a difference. When you hear about an artist having a new music video out one would
assume that they would be in the video, but in Jackson s video this is not the case. In The Man In The
Mirror Jackson has all types of individuals besides himself shown, which is an unusual approach
seeing that music videos are usually the artist time to take expressing themselves a step further.
Although you do not see Jackson within the video, the video itself ... Show more content on

It is still the dream for most today to be able to live The American Dream , but at the time this video
was produced it shows that many people were not able to live that dream because of the many things
they faced. Many individuals encountered obstacles such as poverty or even segregation and that is
displayed in this video by each clip correlating with the line of the song and the message it is trying to
put forth. In the video Jacksons says Who am I to be blind? Pretending not to see their needs. and
while this is said clips of protest, motivational speakers and countries in need of help are displayed.
By saying this line and showing these clips at the same time Jackson is trying to imply that everyone
acts as if they do not see what needs to be fix in the world. By everyone pretending as if ignoring the
wrong is the right thing to do they are blinded that this is not the correct approach nor is it the right
thing to do. Within the different clips Jackson has in his video he shows that certain people and groups
may believe that they are the only individuals entitled to possessing The American Dream when that is
not true. The American Dream is not just for certain people it is for everyone and most of his lines can
be connected to that. Jackson shows people who need help and people who are helping, but
contradicts this with people who want change and equality and show the people who want to keep
everything unequal. With Jackson doing this he shows the people who have looked in the mirror
versus the ones who didn t. Currently people are still encountering all of these things from unequal
treatment to being in need of help and more people have put forth efforts and helping them conquer
life and work towards them living their dream. Thus, The American Dream correlates with The Man

The Awakening And Literacy Analysis
When you walk down Main Street in Fort Morgan, Colorado, a small farming town, you will see signs
that say there are no bikes allowed on the sidewalk. A part of me believes they were put up in my
honor. My parents had a local shop on Main Street and, when I was not stuck inside working with my
parents, I was riding my bike while trying to avoid the police officer who walked down the street
giving tickets to cars who overstayed their welcome.
From an early age, I learned the ropes of how to interact with customers, and by the third grade, I

business setting, I was required to develop a more grown up demeanor while at the store because it

Bass Pro Argumentative Essay
This quote said by Henry David Thoreau, I took a walk in the woods and came out taller than the
trees. This explains the effects from being in the wilderness and the outdoors will affect your life. A
outdoorsman also has to have the right equipment for what they will be doing. The outdoors has been
a big part of my life, and has impacted how I live. To get equipment to go hunting and fish you need to
go to a sporting goods store. The biggest two are Cabela s and Bass Pro. Cabela s and Bass Pro are
similar and different in many ways including equipment, clothing, and locations.
The first subject is how they are different and the same with the equipment they sell. They both sell
about every outdoor product you can think of. The stores mainly ... Show more content on

The location has the biggest impact on why they sell different products. Cabela s stores are mostly
located in the northwest region of the United States, so for this reason that is why they sell more
hunting than fishing equipment. They do have stores all across the country, but are mostly in this area.
Bass Pro is mostly based out of the southeast corner of the United States. The reason for this is
because bass fishing and fishing in general is more popular in this area of the country. This is also why
they sell sea fishing equipment, and not as much hunting equipment. The two companies have stores
all over the midwest. This is the area where hunting, and fishing is more popular and practiced.
Cabela s and Bass Pro are similar and different in many ways including equipment, clothing, and
locations. Now that I have told you how they are the same and different, I hope that the next time you
go to either of the stores you take into consideration what I have talked about. Even though they are
both owned by the same company I hope you pick the one that fits your needs and products you want.

This study tests the differences between bicarbonate calcic mineral water (Acqua Lete) and a
minimally mineralized water. The differences assessed were based off of acid base balance, total body
water, muscle thickness and urinary markers of hydration including specific urine gravity. Aqua Lete
mineral water is high in calcium, magnesium, and bicarbonate and low in sodium and potassium.
Eighty eight male athletes who swam or ran 4 5 hours per week volunteered to participate, and were
randomly divided into two groups. A two week study period for both groups included no training and
following a diet without supplementation of minerals. Both groups underwent two experimental trials.
Cycling without hydration was first performed by both groups. The same cycling trial was repeated
after one week of controlled hydration, which consisted of group A drinking 1.5 L per day of a very
low mineral content water while group B had 1.5 L per day of Acqua Lete water. Physical
examinations were performed at rest before exercise, and included body temperature, bioimpedance

How Does Saving Affect The Economy
CHAPTER 1
AN INTRODUCTION TO RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
1.1 Statement of the Research Problem
Consumption and saving play an important role in the world economy and what determines
consumption and saving is income. As Keynes pointed out, When individuals are saving their money,
they are actually hurting the economy because saving reduces aggregate demand and thus reduces
company revenue . From this study, it is seen that one s expenditure becomes another s income. On the
other hand, saving is also important because of future consumption which has to be maintained for
meeting any kind of emergency or to be able to face any level of risks and uncertainties. For this very
reason precautionary saving has become very essential for migrants since migrants face higher risks
and uncertainties than the local people who do not have to worry so much about their future.
In today s scenario, the study shows that with increase in migration, there is an increase in the total
spending within the economy which leads to an increase in the supply of labour and increase in
demand. Therefore, an increase in spending within the economy brings about an increase in the GDP.
Generally individuals or households look at the prices of the products and the quality before making a
purchase because price of commodities determines their consumption behaviour. How much they save
depends on how much they earn and how much they consume. Consumption and saving behaviour
differ from place to place. A person

Service autonomy is the term used to describe a service which is sel sufficient in terms of managing
all the necessary logic, resources and environment and which is independent of external devices.
 Business Driven Infrastructure on demand
Using service orientation for the infrastructure provides a way to define dependencies of higher level
business services on the lower level infrastructure services, dow to the actual physical resources, such
as network appliances, storage, and servers.
 Service Management
Service orientation defines service level objectives as well as the measurement of the delivery of those
objectives.
CONCLUSION: Service Oriented Architectures are rapidly being accepted by the IT world as a
sound, modularized approach for building and deploying services across the extended enterprise.
Practical extension of these architectures requires careful planning. The SOA is mainly implemented
with web services. In this paper I have tried to explain the so many things about service oriented

Coping Mechanisms In Drinking Habits By Banana Yoshimoto
Coping mechanisms vary greatly from person to person and are a defining factor in one s life. For this
reason, Banana Yoshimoto provides the theme that it is necessary to find positive coping mechanisms
in every situation to limit the despair one faces; she does this through her juxtaposition of Yuichi and
Mikage and the use of the scene where the two eat dinner together after Erikos death. Yoshimoto does
this through her use of Yuichi and his drinking habits on pages sixty through sixty three. Yoshimoto
opens the scene with Yuichi returning from the store where he bought food to make dinner with
Mikage. When Yuichi returns to the apartment he is carrying a bag which he lays down with a thud

George Bellows War Series brought light to the Rape of Belgium, which involved the torture and mass
slaughtering of Belgian citizens during WWI, while revamping his own lost sense of passionate and

happening during the time period. During WWI, German soldiers were assaulting Belgian citizens in
what is now known as the Rape of Belgium. Belgian civilians were being tortured and slaughtered by

The Shortcomings Of The Diagnostic And Statistical Manual...
There is a lot of public outcry for the repeal of this defence. However, this would only lead to more
problems than answers. So long as there are mentally ill individuals in society, this defence is
warranted despite any of its deficiencies. For individuals experience some form of mental illness who
come into contact with the criminal justice system, this defence allows them to attain the counselling
and treatment they require. Before a verdict can be rendered, the courts administer a rigorous test and
ensure that those individuals who gain the benefit of this defence truly deserve it. The defence of not
criminally responsible remains very pertinent in today s society simply because society recognizes a
need to differentiate a true criminal from one who does not intend the consequences of his or her
actions. However, there are many misconceptions and issues in how the defence is administered that
need to be addressed to make this defence more available and effective to those who seek it. Within
this essay, the deficiencies of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) will
be discussed in an attempt to demonstrate the flaws in the current apparatus used and relied on by
psychiatrists when making assessments regarding criminal responsibility. Under the current standards
and the dependence on the DSM IV may lead to an under use of the insanity defence rather than an

parents would come over to her and complement about how young she s reading Shakespeare at.
When all the parents left her she d take out her crayons and color in the margins. Now when she goes

Promiscuity
Promiscuity. What is your reaction to the word? We all know a promiscuous girl. We all look down on
her in our own ways. Sometimes she is backstabbed by friends and sometimes she is openly scorned
by others. What we do not realise, is she is not the only one, or maybe we do not want to accept it.
Research positions us at first place on the podium of promiscuity. Why are we such a promiscuous
nation? What risks are we bringing upon ourselves? Are we all nomads in the land of sexuality?
Perhaps it is our loose lifestyles, or when growing up we are faced with confusion. A young New
Zealander s lifestyle of drinking, partying, and in some cases, drugs is the perfect precedent for a night
likely to be regretted, not remembered, or resulting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This may result in a decrease of promiscuity, as the new generations self esteems will be healthier. For
young people I believe the confusion they are faced with when growing up may play a part. Maybe the
transition into adulthood makes young people think they need to start being sexually active. They may
become desperate to feel belonging or companionship. These feelings could be likened to those of
Holden Caulfield the main character and protagonist of The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger.
Throughout the novel Holden is on a seesaw between being a child and being an adult. One of the
issues that surface for him is that of having sex. At one point in the novel Holden is faced with the
opportunity I kept hoping she d be good looking. I didn t care too much, though. I sort of just wanted
to get it over with. This shows Holden s feelings towards sex. Under these circumstances sex has no
signs of intimacy or fun. It is almost as if sex is an opportunity for him to grow up . Maybe it is simply
a rite of passage. It worries me that this may be the reason for some young people being promiscuous.
If they think becoming an adult means they must do this they are obviously not mature enough yet and
still need time to grow up. The statistics produced by a condom maker labels New Zealand women as
the most promiscuous in the world with an average of 20.3 sexual partners. New Zealand men were
not at the top like the women but still above average with

Healthy Eating
Eating Healthy on a Budget
We all know how easy it is to stop by a fast food restaurant on our way home from work or while
running our kids back and forth to their sports but we don t really stop to think what that food is doing
to our bodies and how much it really does cost to eat out rather than taking a detour to the grocery
store and buy healthy meals and snacks. Most of us are trying to save money any way we can right
now. As living on a budget becomes more important, it is helpful to look at how to stretch your food
dollars and still eat a healthy diet. In these days of bank closures, foreclosures and greater than 10%
unemployed, it is not easy to buy foods that are healthy for us. While eating healthier can cost more

Eat Well, Be Well Eating the required five servings a day of fruits and vegetables and cutting down on

Can you imagine the vicious cycle created for the American poor? One of the endemic plagues of
poverty, poor nutrition, has been further compounded by the fact that the less money you have, the
less able you ll be to buy any truly nutritious foods. Dr. Adam Drewnowski, director of the center for
public health nutrition at the University of Washington, reveals the very real daily challenge those on a
tight budget face: If you have $3 to feed yourself, your choices gravitate toward foods which give you
the most calories per dollar, not only are the empty calories cheaper, but the healthy foods are
becoming more and more expensive. Vegetables and fruits are rapidly becoming luxury goods. (Dr.
Drewnowski).
Older people are most likely to improve their eating habits, but nutrition is important for people of all
ages, says Walter Willet, M.D., chairman of the nutrition department at the Harvard School of Public
Health. We know that when people have health problems or their friends become ill, these are strong
motivators of change, the more serious the health condition, the more serious the change. We d rather
have people make changes early and prevent health problems in the first place. (Willet).

The Relationship Between Technology And Technology
Technology Me I think it goes without saying, but technology has fundamentally changed our world.
It has not only altered human communication, but has created a new form of communication as well.
Becoming more and more apparent in modern life is the fact that we are communicating with
technology itself in a multitude of different ways. The new, complicated relationship between
individual humans and elements of technology has been an emerging topic for many communications
theorists. In this essay, I will be taking two well held theories dealing with communication between
humans and technology, and then applying it to experiences I have had in my life.
The Theories The first theory is Media Equation Theory. In its simplest definition, the theory states
that humans interact with technology and media as if they were a human. Meaning, many of the
features of human communication are replicated in this new form of interaction. The theory was
developed by Bryon Reeves and Clifford Nass in the 1990s and has continued to gain prominence
with increased technological pervasiveness. Reeves and Nass found that humans attribute existing
social roles to this new media. Furthermore, we can view individual pieces and forms of technology as
either positive or negative. Based on our past experiences, new media can act as a friend, an adversary,
or an expert (Littlejohn, Foss, Oetzel, 2017, p. 201). However, that begs the important question: Why
do we perceive them as humanlike? There have

Dependence By Octavia E. Butler
Dependence in Fledgling Dependence is a very broad term that encompasses multiple different aspects
of peoples lives. It can be defined in a wide range of subjects including, but not limited to, obsessions
compulsions, material reliance, and financial dependency. However, dependence is most commonly
used in terms of interpersonal relationship and substance addiction. An intertwined combination of
these two types of dependency is explored in Fledgling, a science fiction vampire novel written by
Octavia E. Butler. In her novel, Butler portrays dependence as a natural component of symbiotic
relationships with many varying forms of expression. Based on this, she also shows a connection
between co dependence and addiction while still ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Iosif, both Shori and the readers are informed that human blood is most satisfying to [them] and

Ina symbiont relationship would be better classified as commensalism, where one organism benefits
while the other is not affected. However, Butler further stresses the mutualistic relationship between
the Ina and their symbionts by noting the other positive effects from the venom injected during
feeding. For example, the venom strengthens their immune system, lengthens their lives by around
100 years, and makes them heal faster. In other words, they will become much healthier, stronger and
harder to kill than they would be without [their Ina] (63). In this mutualistic relationship, the Ina
depends on their symbionts as a source of fuel just as much as the symbionts depends on their Ina for
health, but mainly feelings of pleasure and alleviation. However, when Ina misuse their abilities to use
humans as weapons and tools, it can be viewed as a parasitism (257). Parasitic symbiotic relationships
involve one organism benefiting at the cost of another organism. For instance, Iosif bit Raleigh Curtis,

Analysis Of Akira Kurosawa ( 1910-1998 )
Akira Kurosawa (1910 1998) was one of Japan s most important film directors of the twentieth
century. His work spanned over fifty years and included a broad range of genres from historical epics
to gangster dramas. His films not only told interesting stories but also broke new ground. Many of his
innovations were technical, such as his use of the long lens, his penchant for shooting with multiple
cameras, and his virtuosic editing. Other innovations were tied to his emphasis on details within his
films, such as elaborate period costumes and sets, western music, stunning location shots, and detailed
miniature sets. As to specific reasons, I think much of it comes down a confusion between theme and
technique. I don t see any reason to question Kurosawa s word that all his films were Japanese and
aimed solely at a Japanese audience. However, many writers on the topic saw camera movements or
set ups that resembled John Ford, read about Kurosawa s admiration for westerns and American pulp
fiction, and added it up into a bland statement of Kurosawa being an essentially Western film maker.
And Japanese critics, puzzled about why he was so popular in the West compared to other film
makers, decided this is right. He has often been called the most Western of Japanese film directors
(and is certainly the best known of them in Europe and America), but though he freely admits
influence from Western directors and painters and has based several of his films on major Western
texts, he

The Benefits Of Cruelty-Free Circus
Imagine you are stolen from your family at a young age, forced. Forced to perform routines, and you
can not understand why, when you mess up or refuse to perform, you are punished with lacerations or
starvation. No one responsible for you cares about your health and will do whatever they can to put as
little effort and resources into you. This is the life for many animals forced to participate in circuses.
Circus animals, such as elephants, big cats, camels, or bears, live in conditions no human would want

The weaknesses of the story are just too long. It was too broad, and it will make you boring on some
pages. It makes you upset because there s a twist and some words that they used is hard to understand.
Even though there are weaknesses of the story, it will make you be a critical thinker. For the example,

Low-Voltage Current-Tmode Realization of Digital Logic...
Low Voltage Current Mode Realization of Digital Logic Gates using CMOS
In this paper a new technique is introduced for implementing the basic logic function by using analog
current mode techniques. By expanding the logic function in power series expression, and using adder
and sub tractor realization of the basic logic function is simplified. To illustrate the proposed
technique, a CMOS circuit for simultaneous realization of the logic function NOT, AND, OR, NAND
and XOR is considered. PSPICE simulation results, obtained with ±2V supply, are included.

In an attempt to answer this question, the translinear principle (Gilbert, 1990) has been used to realize
a digital inverter circuit (Kemp, 1983, 1984) a bistable element (Seevinck, 1978) and
NOT/OR/NAND/XOR functions (M., 2003) . All the realizations of logic gates in current mode
reported in references (Kemp, 1983, 1984; Seevinck, 1978; M., 2003) use bipolar technology.
In this paper, we present such an approach, a low Voltage CMOS analog digital circuit in current mode
where it works with a supply voltage of VDD= VSS=2V. The circuit is based on the four quadrant
CMOS analog multiplier (Ali et al., 2009).
POWER SERIES REPRESENTATION OF LOGIC FUNCTIONS
Using their truth tables, it is easy to show that the input output relations of the basic digital logic
function can be expressed as (Enab and Zaki, 1993):
Z= 1 Ix (1)
for the NOT operation,
Z= Ix*Iy (2)
for the AND operation,
Z= Ix + Iy Ix*Iy (3)
for the OR operation,
Z= 1 Ix*Iy (4) for the NAND operation, and
Z= Ix + Iy 2Ix*Iy (5)
for the XOR operation.

Gift Giving In Beowulf
Seamus Heaney s Beowulf is a translated literary work from the Anglo Saxon era which puts emphasis
on countless themes, such as, being a warrior, religion and wealth. Over the course of the poem, the
speaker puts emphasis on material possessions, which is shown through the act of gift giving. Some
argue that the importance put gift giving and wealth in Beowulf, is to present a generous attitude
however, it is evident that the purpose of this act is purely selfish. Parts of the poem like, Hrothgar
giving Beowulf gold and treasures after his conquests, Grendel not wanting to pay a wergild, and
Hrothgar paying money to the Wulfings for Beowulf s father are all examples of this.
For insistence, the way in which Hrothgar gives Beowulf all those treasures appear to be out of respect
and honor, however, this could be a manner to gain and retain his support. The King presents Beowulf
with numerous treasures that vary between gold and horses, armor and swords, and he even presents a
reward to the other men who fought with him. The following quotation explains Beowulf s thought on
the matter. So Beowulf drank his drink at ease; / it was hardly a shame to be showered with such gifts
/ in front of the hall troops. (Heaney 1024 1026) Beowulf gladly accepts the gifts that are being thrust
upon him, without putting much thought into it and thinking only about his reputation. This is shown
through the speaker s word choice and the carefree tone of the lines. Regardless of that, it is

High Blood Pressure Research Paper
Vicki, a 42 year old African American female has recently been diagnosed with high blood pressure.
Unaware of what high blood pressure is or why she has it, Vicki decides to do some research.
Blood pressure measures the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries (Centers for
Disease Control [CDC], 2016a). The heart pumps and forces blood through the arteries, which carry
blood through the body. The arteries taper off in size and become tiny vessels, called capillaries. At the
capillary level, oxygen and nutrients are released from your blood and delivered to the organs (Iliades,
2009). An increase in blood pressure is known as hypertension or high blood pressure.
Due to Vicki s nationality she is already predisposed to having this condition. African Americans are
more likely than any other racial or ethnic group to have high blood pressure and to develop the
condition earlier in life (Centers for Disease Control [CDC], 2016b). Lifestyle risk factors that can
lead to high blood pressure are; obesity, unhealthy diet, lack of activity, as well as alcohol and tobacco

a limb, most commonly the upper arm, and inflated. While the cuff is being deflated, a stethoscope is
placed over an artery and used to listen to the heartbeat while watching a gauge. Blood pressure is
measured using two numbers. The first number, systolic, measures the pressure in your blood vessels
when your heart beats. This is the first beat the listener will hear. The second number, diastolic,
measures the pressure in your blood vessels when your heart rests between beats (CDC, 2016). This is
the last beat heard while deflating. A blood pressure of 120/80 mmHg is most desired. Anything

Examples Of Lorenz Curve
Lorenze Curve
The Lorenz curve originated from the early part of the twentiteth century when Max Otto Lorenz
published a paper in 1905 in an American statistical journal outlining the technique which was to bear
his name. However, it was the work on poverty and income inequality by Sir Tony Atkinson during
the 1970s that led to the popular dissemination and development of the original work of Lorenz.
The Lorenz curve can be explained as an extension of the ogive that is used in economics to show the
distribution of income or wealth among the population. It is a grapgh of cumulative percentage wealth,
income or some other measure of wealth , against cumulative percentage of population. For instance,
we can use this curve to determine the fairness ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The standard framework will be developed in four stages.
First, we convert the wealth into percentages and accumulate them to get the cumulative percentage of
wealth. We also convert the population also into percentages and accumulate them to get the
cumulative percentage of population. You can skip this step if all these have been provided with the
question.
Next, we draw a set of Axis in which the cumulative percentage of wealth is measured along the Y
axis while the cumulative percentage of household is measured along the X axis. Usually the graph s
axes are closed off to from a box.
We then assume that we live in a truly equal society. If this were the case, the relationship will be such
that as we move along the x axis, each 10 percent of household would own additional 10 percent of
wealth. In this case, the line we would be a straight line emanating from the origin Point (0,0) to Point
(100,100). This line is known as the line of absolute equality.
Finally, Plot the cumulative percentage of population against cumulative percentage of wealth. In this
case, the line will bow away from the line of absolute equality. The more unequal the society is, the
further it will deviate away from the line of absolute

Whether it is a fight for his life, winning a quidditch match, or just staying out of trouble, these novels
are anything but boring. This I believe, is one of the biggest reasons why these books have been such a
success, the author knows how to keep the story going at all times in order to maintain the readers
attention. Another factor which I believe has led to the novels success is that while reading, the reader
wishes that they could live in this fantasy world created by Rowling where life is anything but
ordinary. The novels make the reader somewhat desire a life like the one led by the characters of the
novels, like going to a school to learn wizarding, always having extraordinary things happen and just
being at Hogwarts seems like an unequaled joy for some. These novels have the ability to reignite the

Many of the locations in the movie within the USA corresponded to a certain mythological location. A
notable example of this would include the location of the third pearl that the protagonists, Grover,

extremely significant setting, as it is named after, and therefore is based on the mythological country
of the Lotus eaters . Evidently, as they enter, they are encouraged to eat lotus cookies, presented to

It is clear that the film is directed at young children and family viewers with the purpose of educating
the audience of ancient Greek mythology in a modernised, child friendly method. This is clear in the
portrayal of the gods in their common modern American apparel instead of traditional Greek
clothing(see appendix A and B). A further example of this is when Percy Jackson uses the reflective
back of an iPod for combat with Medusa, as it allowed him to view her indirectly. In mythology,
Perseus used the reflective shield of Athene for the same purpose. The switching of the shield to an
item of modern technology emphasizes the modification of Greek myths in the film. Additionally,
Hermes winged boots were portrayed as winged Converse sneakers(See appendices C and D), given to
Percy by Luke, demigod son of Hermes/Hermes archetype. Converse sneakers are extremely popular
in the most recent generations/children of the modern day world, along with iPods, so the overall
effect of this modernisation of mythology is that no piece of equipment looks out of place. Moreover,
since the mythology in this movie has been modernised, it is a great way to entertainingly educate
people about ancient Greek mythology. To conclude, the target audiences of the film determined how
it adapted and modernised mythology for entertainment, as well as educational

Compare And Contrast Hebrew And Phoenician Alphabets
Most people in ancient history gained influence over other people and became significant in history by
means of military conquest and the establishment of empires. By contrast, the Phoenicians and the
Hebrews shaped the development of world history in less aggressive ways. The Phoenicians
established trading posts and colonies throughout the Mediterranean Sea and all the way to the
Atlantic coast of what we now know as Portugal. More importantly, however, they created a phonetic
system of transcribing meaning that they generated an alphabet. This was known as an overwhelming
achievement in regards to culture. Prior to this, writers of hieroglyphics and cuneiform had established
signs that had been used to signify sounds, however they were always utilized with a larger number of
ideograms. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This system vastly simplified reading and writing and then spread among other people as a sensible

Romans alphabet is actually the script that we use to write English in today s world. Alphabets built on
the Phoenician alphabet were formed in the Persian Empire and shaped the basis of Arabic, Hebrew,
and other alphabets of Central and South Asia. In short, the system that was conceived by normal
people and later spread by Phoenician merchants is the source of most of our world s phonetic

Kate Chopin s The Awakening begins set in Grande Isle which is the summer get away for a few
families of New Orleans upper class . It is a community of cottages owned by the Lebrun family. Edna
Pontellier and her husband Leonce summer there with there two children. This is the setting where
Edna also develops a close relationship with Robert Lebrun. He is one of Madame Lebrun s sons who
helps her run the cottages for the Pontellier s and the Ratingnolle s. The book begins and ends with
Edna and her attraction to the water. Throughout the story water plays a symbolic part in the unfolding
of Edna and her relationship to Robert and also her awakening to a new outlook on life along ... Show

Edna is very passionate and critical of her painting. After Adele has a fainting spell from her long day
and retires inside Robert invites Edna to join him on the beach to bathe in the heat. Edna looks toward
the water and feels a draw to it. The water is a source of strength for Edna she follows Robert down to
the welcoming Gulf. Edna can not understand why she wants to go with Robert down to the water nut
she feels drawn and the conflicting impulses which would steer her away from the proposal seem to
disappear. Mrs. Pontellier was beginning to understand her position in the universe as a human being.
Edna, up until now, had been going through the motions of being a wife, mother and woman in the
society in which she has lived. The ocean to Edna is a place where she feels comfort and although she
does not fully understand why she is drawn to it, she goes. She likes the way the water feels when she
enters it with Robert. It is a new feeling for her.
Edna also finds comfort in spending time with Adele whom she adores. They spend some time
together on the beach to escape Robert one time and talk. The two become close friends. Edna tells
Adele that looking over the beach and the water reminds her of her days in Kentucky as a child. This
time with Adele at the beach looking over the water also helps to further spark Edna s passion as a
painter.
Grand Isle is host to a large celebration, in which families dance together, eat ice cream and

Societal Values In Social Work
Being in a social work field, ethical principles and values are significant. Societal values can be
similar to social work ethics, but they can also differ. Our own beliefs may go completely against the
Social Work Code of Ethics. At the same time, they also may align with the ethics perfectly. Out of the
seven societal values that we were given, I have lined them up with the social work principle values
like this: integrity with integrity; importance of human relationships with privacy; social justice with
equality and social justice; dignity and worth of the person with cultural diversity and freedom; lastly
competence with knowledge building.
According to the NASW Code of Ethics (2008), Social workers behave in a trustworthy manner. The
societal value that falls under this principle is integrity. I feel like this societal value is the same as the
ethical principles and values. Social workers act honestly and responsibly and promote ethical
practices (NASW, 2008). This standard is important in being honest and having solid moral principles
which comply with integrity. Integrity is crucial to both societal values and social work principles.
Another important societal value that also aligns with NASW Code of Ethics in privacy. Privacy falls
under importance of human relationships. Social workers seek to strengthen relationships among
people in a purposeful effort (NASW, 2008). Every client and every person want privacy and they
deserve it. This ethical standard

Gertrude as an Innocent Victim or a Sexually and Morally Corrupt Woman in Hamlet
Shakespeare s character Gertrude is one of much mystery; in relation to this there are many questions
that need to be answered to establish Gertrude s innocence through out the play. Some examples of
these questions are, was Gertrude in some kind of relationship with Claudius before the murder of her
late Husband and did she know about the murder before or after it was committed? Does she love
Claudius or is it just her status that she is protecting? And did she ever love the late King Hamlet?
At the beginning of the play when we learn about the late King Hamlet s death and Gertrude s hasty
marriage to his brother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although she tells Hamlet this there is nothing to suggest that she has any guilty knowledge about the
late King s death or that she, herself, is missing him and grieving as well.
There is no solid evidence in the beginning to suggest that she really loves Claudius, but this changes
through out the play. This is shown when Laertes comes to attack Claudius. At first Gertrude restrains
him, saying calmly, good Laertes then she goes on to defend Claudius by revealing that it was not the
king that killed Polonious But not by him Act 4, Scene 5. It is evident that she depends on Claudius.
This is shown when she faces unwanted confrontation and she immediately runs straight to Claudius,
this is shown after she talks to Hamlet in the closet scene and she seems dependant on the men in her
life. However this also works the other way round as we see that Claudius is slightly dependant on
Gertrude s advice as he seems to ask her for advice Do you think tis this Act 2 Scene 2, but although
this is the case she is not included in major decisions.
As a character there is a great deal emphasis on her relationship with Hamlet, it is evident that she
loves her son very dearly; she seems particularly concerned when she learns of Hamlets madness. This
could be explained in likeness of a mothers concern but it is also arguable that she has no knowledge
that the madness is pretence; this

Would the average person be able to survive if they were in the forest. It is also about the different
foods in the forest. A person needs to know what kind of plants are poisonous and which one are
edible. One also needs to know where to find food. Different foods will provide nutrients and protein.
Someone trying to survive in the forest also needs to know how to prepare it. That is going to be life

  • 2. Angels In America Play Analysis The play made me feel several emotions. For the most part, I sympathized with the majority of the characters. I especially felt an emotional attachment to Prior and Harper. Both of these characters needed to be taken care of, but they were ultimately abandoned. Harper seems confident that she will be fine on her own, but the thought of her being alone still saddens me. I was also happy to read a play that dealt with Mormonism. I grew up as a Mormon and I am interested when a piece of work addresses that particular form of Christianity. Mormonism is not addressed in theatre and entertainment very often, so I found that particular element of the play interesting. From there, The Little Rock Nine would forever be remembered as an essential part of history. These nine students were the first African Americans to go to an all white high school. Centre your discussion on one or two examples each of the work of the following artists: Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg, Roy Lichtenstein, Tom Wesselmann, James Rosenquist. Pop Art is one of the major art movements of the Twentieth Century. Characterized by themes and techniques drawn from mass culture such as advertising and comic books, pop art is widely interpreted as a reaction to the ideas of abstract expressionism which preceded Pop in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The decade of the 1960s was perhaps one of the most provocative, in terms of culture, politics and philosophy, of the 20th century. The amazing growth that ... These images are often presented in a series by which Warhol repeats the picture a large number of times on the same canvas or on separate canvases. Each image in the series is slightly different from the next one. Warhol utilizes a wide range of color from the monochrome to the vivid and vibrant. In his Campbell Soup painting, numerous rows and columns of red and white Campbell soup cans are painted alongside each other. They are all identical except for the flavor of the soup that is written on each can. Warhol s main aesthetic strategies were based on the fashion industry and mass media advertising. This means that he constantly used reproduction and incessant repetition in the art work. But it was repetition and reproduction without a message. For example, the statement ‘Black Bean on the Campbell s soup can is meaningless when it is reproduced in art, which is exactly how mass advertising works and Warhol wanted his artwork to have this same effect. However, Warhol s Campbell s soup did not only function as an illustration of commercial industry and advertisement, it was an intrinsic part of Warhol s life and memories and popular culture. For him the soup represented a feeling of being at home with family. It was what the mass media ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One such theme is the idea of doubleness. Oscar Wilde used this as a technique to link his characters and ideas. While doubleness is shown in many aspects of the novel, the most obvious and most important presence of it is the parallel between the main character, Dorian, and his self portrait. He valued beauty so much that he willingly gave up his essence and being. The picture truly is the most magical of mirrors (87) and as Wilde states, as it had revealed to him his own body, so it would reveal to him his own soul. (87) Dorian is empty at this point. • 10. The Poetry Of Edgar Allan Poe When hearing the name Edgar Allan Poe, it is simple to know who is being talked about, the mostly grim, melancholy, and dark poet. Along with many other people who have been through rough times, Poe expresses his past experiences and pain through a work specific to him, short stories and poems. Edgar Allan Poe uses his life s story to write pieces that display the time period he lived in, the influences on his poetry, and solid topics that are critiqued. First off, Poe discreetly uses certain dialect in his work that brings attention to the time period he lived in. Due to Poe being born in Boston 19 January 1809 , he had more of what now seems to be older and formal dialect in his work (Kennedy page 734). Back then, a romantic and time consuming thought that was a love that the wingèd seraphs of Heaven Coveted where the bond between two people was seemingly unbreakable (Poe line 11). The use of the word wingèd implies that Poe lived in an earlier century due to the fact that no one today talks like that. Edgar Allan Poe uses many phrases to indicate what time period he lived in. When he died Sunday October 7 in 1849, it was still in the time period of formal and proper speech (Kennedy page 734). To be shut up in a sepulcher was the kind of thing Poe would reference in his work in one way or another, but this would not be said like that today. The people of this century would say phrases including six feet under , one foot in the grave , tombstone , etc. which is significantly less sophisticated than the phrases that were used during Poe s time. Next, Poe had a rough life that greatly influenced his writing. Edgar Allan Poe went through embrace and joy with people in which they loved with a love that was more than a love , for example, his fourteen year old first cousin, Virginia Clemm (Poe line 9) (Bleiler page 596). Such love led Poe to creating portions of his works based on this overwhelming feeling of excitement, sincerity, and loyalty. However, as it is well too known, not everything is picture perfect. Poe, much like everyone else, had many tragic heartaches. One of his most significant heartaches would be Virginia s death in 1847 where she died due to illness (Prida page 225). ... It is still the dream for most today to be able to live The American Dream , but at the time this video was produced it shows that many people were not able to live that dream because of the many things they faced. Many individuals encountered obstacles such as poverty or even segregation and that is displayed in this video by each clip correlating with the line of the song and the message it is trying to put forth. In the video Jacksons says Who am I to be blind? Pretending not to see their needs. and while this is said clips of protest, motivational speakers and countries in need of help are displayed. By saying this line and showing these clips at the same time Jackson is trying to imply that everyone acts as if they do not see what needs to be fix in the world. By everyone pretending as if ignoring the wrong is the right thing to do they are blinded that this is not the correct approach nor is it the right thing to do. Within the different clips Jackson has in his video he shows that certain people and groups may believe that they are the only individuals entitled to possessing The American Dream when that is not true. The American Dream is not just for certain people it is for everyone and most of his lines can be connected to that. Jackson shows people who need help and people who are helping, but contradicts this with people who want change and equality and show the people who want to keep everything unequal. With Jackson doing this he shows the people who have looked in the mirror versus the ones who didn t. Currently people are still encountering all of these things from unequal treatment to being in need of help and more people have put forth efforts and helping them conquer life and work towards them living their dream. The reason for this is because bass fishing and fishing in general is more popular in this area of the country. This is also why they sell sea fishing equipment, and not as much hunting equipment. The two companies have stores all over the midwest. This is the area where hunting, and fishing is more popular and practiced. • 15. How Does Saving Affect The Economy CHAPTER 1 AN INTRODUCTION TO RESEARCH METHODOLOGY 1.1 Statement of the Research Problem Consumption and saving play an important role in the world economy and what determines consumption and saving is income. As Keynes pointed out, When individuals are saving their money, they are actually hurting the economy because saving reduces aggregate demand and thus reduces company revenue . From this study, it is seen that one s expenditure becomes another s income. On the other hand, saving is also important because of future consumption which has to be maintained for meeting any kind of emergency or to be able to face any level of risks and uncertainties. For this very reason precautionary saving has become very essential for migrants since migrants face higher risks and uncertainties than the local people who do not have to worry so much about their future. In today s scenario, the study shows that with increase in migration, there is an increase in the total spending within the economy which leads to an increase in the supply of labour and increase in demand. Therefore, an increase in spending within the economy brings about an increase in the GDP. Generally individuals or households look at the prices of the products and the quality before making a purchase because price of commodities determines their consumption behaviour. How much they save depends on how much they earn and how much they consume. Consumption and saving behaviour differ from place to place. A person ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

So long as there are mentally ill individuals in society, this defence is warranted despite any of its deficiencies. For individuals experience some form of mental illness who come into contact with the criminal justice system, this defence allows them to attain the counselling and treatment they require. Before a verdict can be rendered, the courts administer a rigorous test and ensure that those individuals who gain the benefit of this defence truly deserve it. The defence of not criminally responsible remains very pertinent in today s society simply because society recognizes a need to differentiate a true criminal from one who does not intend the consequences of his or her actions. However, there are many misconceptions and issues in how the defence is administered that need to be addressed to make this defence more available and effective to those who seek it. • 22. Promiscuity Promiscuity. What is your reaction to the word? We all know a promiscuous girl. We all look down on her in our own ways. Sometimes she is backstabbed by friends and sometimes she is openly scorned by others. What we do not realise, is she is not the only one, or maybe we do not want to accept it. Research positions us at first place on the podium of promiscuity. Why are we such a promiscuous nation? What risks are we bringing upon ourselves? Are we all nomads in the land of sexuality? Perhaps it is our loose lifestyles, or when growing up we are faced with confusion. For young people I believe the confusion they are faced with when growing up may play a part. Maybe the transition into adulthood makes young people think they need to start being sexually active. They may become desperate to feel belonging or companionship. These feelings could be likened to those of Holden Caulfield the main character and protagonist of The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger. Throughout the novel Holden is on a seesaw between being a child and being an adult. One of the issues that surface for him is that of having sex. At one point in the novel Holden is faced with the opportunity I kept hoping she d be good looking. I didn t care too much, though. I sort of just wanted to get it over with. This shows Holden s feelings towards sex. Under these circumstances sex has no signs of intimacy or fun. It is almost as if sex is an opportunity for him to grow up . Maybe it is simply a rite of passage. It worries me that this may be the reason for some young people being promiscuous. If they think becoming an adult means they must do this they are obviously not mature enough yet and still need time to grow up. The statistics produced by a condom maker labels New Zealand women as the most promiscuous in the world with an average of 20.3 sexual partners. Most of us are trying to save money any way we can right now. As living on a budget becomes more important, it is helpful to look at how to stretch your food dollars and still eat a healthy diet. Can you imagine the vicious cycle created for the American poor? One of the endemic plagues of poverty, poor nutrition, has been further compounded by the fact that the less money you have, the less able you ll be to buy any truly nutritious foods. Dr. Adam Drewnowski, director of the center for public health nutrition at the University of Washington, reveals the very real daily challenge those on a tight budget face: If you have $3 to feed yourself, your choices gravitate toward foods which give you the most calories per dollar, not only are the empty calories cheaper, but the healthy foods are becoming more and more expensive. Vegetables and fruits are rapidly becoming luxury goods. (Dr. Drewnowski). Older people are most likely to improve their eating habits, but nutrition is important for people of all ages, says Walter Willet, M.D., chairman of the nutrition department at the Harvard School of Public Health. • 24. The Relationship Between Technology And Technology Technology Me I think it goes without saying, but technology has fundamentally changed our world. It has not only altered human communication, but has created a new form of communication as well. Becoming more and more apparent in modern life is the fact that we are communicating with technology itself in a multitude of different ways. The new, complicated relationship between individual humans and elements of technology has been an emerging topic for many communications theorists. In this essay, I will be taking two well held theories dealing with communication between humans and technology, and then applying it to experiences I have had in my life. The Theories The first theory is Media Equation Theory. In its simplest definition, the theory states that humans interact with technology and media as if they were a human. Meaning, many of the features of human communication are replicated in this new form of interaction. The theory was developed by Bryon Reeves and Clifford Nass in the 1990s and has continued to gain prominence with increased technological pervasiveness. Reeves and Nass found that humans attribute existing social roles to this new media. Furthermore, we can view individual pieces and forms of technology as either positive or negative. Based on our past experiences, new media can act as a friend, an adversary, or an expert (Littlejohn, Foss, Oetzel, 2017, p. 201). However, that begs the important question: Why do we perceive them as humanlike? There have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An intertwined combination of these two types of dependency is explored in Fledgling, a science fiction vampire novel written by Octavia E. Butler. Based on this quote, the Ina symbiont relationship would be better classified as commensalism, where one organism benefits while the other is not affected. However, Butler further stresses the mutualistic relationship between the Ina and their symbionts by noting the other positive effects from the venom injected during feeding. For example, the venom strengthens their immune system, lengthens their lives by around 100 years, and makes them heal faster. In other words, they will become much healthier, stronger and harder to kill than they would be without [their Ina] (63). In this mutualistic relationship, the Ina depends on their symbionts as a source of fuel just as much as the symbionts depends on their Ina for health, but mainly feelings of pleasure and alleviation. • 26. Analysis Of Akira Kurosawa ( 1910-1998 ) Akira Kurosawa (1910 1998) was one of Japan s most important film directors of the twentieth century. His work spanned over fifty years and included a broad range of genres from historical epics to gangster dramas. His films not only told interesting stories but also broke new ground. Many of his innovations were technical, such as his use of the long lens, his penchant for shooting with multiple cameras, and his virtuosic editing. Other innovations were tied to his emphasis on details within his films, such as elaborate period costumes and sets, western music, stunning location shots, and detailed miniature sets. As to specific reasons, I think much of it comes down a confusion between theme and technique. I don t see any reason to question Kurosawa s word that all his films were Japanese and aimed solely at a Japanese audience. However, many writers on the topic saw camera movements or set ups that resembled John Ford, read about Kurosawa s admiration for westerns and American pulp fiction, and added it up into a bland statement of Kurosawa being an essentially Western film maker. And Japanese critics, puzzled about why he was so popular in the West compared to other film makers, decided this is right. He has often been called the most Western of Japanese film directors (and is certainly the best known of them in Europe and America), but though he freely admits influence from Western directors and painters and has based several of his films on major Western texts, he ... All the realizations of logic gates in current mode reported in references (Kemp, 1983, 1984; Seevinck, 1978; M., 2003) use bipolar technology. In this paper, we present such an approach, a low Voltage CMOS analog digital circuit in current mode where it works with a supply voltage of VDD= VSS=2V. Over the course of the poem, the speaker puts emphasis on material possessions, which is shown through the act of gift giving. Some argue that the importance put gift giving and wealth in Beowulf, is to present a generous attitude however, it is evident that the purpose of this act is purely selfish. Parts of the poem like, Hrothgar giving Beowulf gold and treasures after his conquests, Grendel not wanting to pay a wergild, and Hrothgar paying money to the Wulfings for Beowulf s father are all examples of this. For insistence, the way in which Hrothgar gives Beowulf all those treasures appear to be out of respect and honor, however, this could be a manner to gain and retain his support. The King presents Beowulf with numerous treasures that vary between gold and horses, armor and swords, and he even presents a reward to the other men who fought with him. The following quotation explains Beowulf s thought on the matter. So Beowulf drank his drink at ease; / it was hardly a shame to be showered with such gifts / in front of the hall troops. (Heaney 1024 1026) Beowulf gladly accepts the gifts that are being thrust upon him, without putting much thought into it and thinking only about his reputation. Unaware of what high blood pressure is or why she has it, Vicki decides to do some research. Blood pressure measures the force of blood pushing against the walls of the arteries (Centers for Disease Control [CDC], 2016a). The heart pumps and forces blood through the arteries, which carry blood through the body. The arteries taper off in size and become tiny vessels, called capillaries. At the capillary level, oxygen and nutrients are released from your blood and delivered to the organs (Iliades, 2009). An increase in blood pressure is known as hypertension or high blood pressure. Due to Vicki s nationality she is already predisposed to having this condition. African Americans are more likely than any other racial or ethnic group to have high blood pressure and to develop the condition earlier in life (Centers for Disease Control [CDC], 2016b). Edna, up until now, had been going through the motions of being a wife, mother and woman in the society in which she has lived. The ocean to Edna is a place where she feels comfort and although she does not fully understand why she is drawn to it, she goes. She likes the way the water feels when she enters it with Robert. It is a new feeling for her. Edna also finds comfort in spending time with Adele whom she adores. They spend some time together on the beach to escape Robert one time and talk. The two become close friends. Edna tells Adele that looking over the beach and the water reminds her of her days in Kentucky as a child. This time with Adele at the beach looking over the water also helps to further spark Edna s passion as a painter. Grand Isle is host to a large celebration, in which families dance together, eat ice cream and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Societal Values In Social Work Being in a social work field, ethical principles and values are significant. Societal values can be similar to social work ethics, but they can also differ. Our own beliefs may go completely against the Social Work Code of Ethics. At the same time, they also may align with the ethics perfectly. Out of the seven societal values that we were given, I have lined them up with the social work principle values like this: integrity with integrity; importance of human relationships with privacy; social justice with equality and social justice; dignity and worth of the person with cultural diversity and freedom; lastly competence with knowledge building. According to the NASW Code of Ethics (2008), Social workers behave in a trustworthy manner. The societal value that falls under this principle is integrity. I feel like this societal value is the same as the ethical principles and values. Social workers act honestly and responsibly and promote ethical practices (NASW, 2008). This standard is important in being honest and having solid moral principles which comply with integrity. Integrity is crucial to both societal values and social work principles. Another important societal value that also aligns with NASW Code of Ethics in privacy. Privacy falls under importance of human relationships. Social workers seek to strengthen relationships among people in a purposeful effort (NASW, 2008). Every client and every person want privacy and they deserve it. This ethical standard ... • 43. Gertrude as an Innocent Victim or a Sexually and Morally... Gertrude as an Innocent Victim or a Sexually and Morally Corrupt Woman in Hamlet Shakespeare s character Gertrude is one of much mystery; in relation to this there are many questions that need to be answered to establish Gertrude s innocence through out the play. Some examples of these questions are, was Gertrude in some kind of relationship with Claudius before the murder of her late Husband and did she know about the murder before or after it was committed? Does she love Claudius or is it just her status that she is protecting? And did she ever love the late King Hamlet? At the beginning of the play when we learn about the late King Hamlet s death and Gertrude s hasty marriage to his brother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although she tells Hamlet this there is nothing to suggest that she has any guilty knowledge about the late King s death or that she, herself, is missing him and grieving as well. There is no solid evidence in the beginning to suggest that she really loves Claudius, but this changes through out the play. This is shown when Laertes comes to attack Claudius. At first Gertrude restrains him, saying calmly, good Laertes then she goes on to defend Claudius by revealing that it was not the king that killed Polonious But not by him Act 4, Scene 5. It is evident that she depends on Claudius. This is shown when she faces unwanted confrontation and she immediately runs straight to Claudius, this is shown after she talks to Hamlet in the closet scene and she seems dependant on the men in her life. However this also works the other way round as we see that Claudius is slightly dependant on Gertrude s advice as he seems to ask her for advice Do you think tis this Act 2 Scene 2, but although this is the case she is not included in major decisions. As a character there is a great deal emphasis on her relationship with Hamlet, it is evident that she loves her son very dearly; she seems particularly concerned when she learns of Hamlets madness. This could be explained in likeness of a mothers concern but it is also arguable that she has no knowledge that the madness is pretence; this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
