Oxidative Stress Lab Report
Biochemistry of Free Radicals and Oxidative Stress
The research was done by Sabry M. El Bahr at the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Veterinary
Medicine, P.O. Box 22758, Alexandria University, Egypt. The overall purpose of this experiment was
to study the causes of oxidative stress that is caused by free radical. It is known that the free radicals
and the Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) are used interchangeably. ROS can damage DNA,
biomembrane lipids, proteins and other macromolecules. The primary source of ROS is the leakage of
electron from the respiratory chain during the reduction of molecular oxygen to water generating
superoxide anion. The classification of ROS includes oxygen centered radicals and oxygen centered
non radicals. Moreover, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The system can take care of those reactive oxygen species, some of them are enzymes, including
glutathione peroxidase, catalase and superoxide dismutase which are the most major antioxidant
enzymes that are capable to minimize oxidative stress in the organelles, and some are non enzyme
antioxidants such as glutathione, selenium, vitamin C and E. Oxidative stress is when the balance is in
favor of oxidase, so when the antioxidants systems in the cell cannot keep up, something gets out of
whack and things start to come oxidized. This can happen in a lot of ways, we have endogenous
sources of ROS; things that are happening in the cell like aerobic cellular respiration where the ROS
are being produced as a result of some byproduct or some cellular process that supposed to be
occurring like electron transport in cellular respiration or breaking down fatty acid and peroxisome.
In this study, scientist found that there are levels of free radicals reactivity of the compounds that are
being produced in the cell; some with least reactivity such as H2O2, and some are highly reactive such
as OH. The free radicals can affect the cell negatively. One of the element that generates free radicals
and causes oxidative stress is cadmium. It increases lipid peroxidation and/or changes intracellular
glutathione levels. However, investigators found that some plants such as curcumin is a natural drug
that works

Analysis Of Anton Chekhov s The Lottery Ticket
I Stand Here Ironing vs. The Lottery Ticket In Anton Chekhov s The Lottery Ticket , we are presented
with a couple who, half believing they have won the lottery, give themselves over to daydreaming
what the future may hold with their winnings. The point of view is that of the husband though it is
clear, throughout, that his thoughts find their echo in his wife s. At first his thoughts are pleasant but
then, as he takes into account the differences, (some of them supposed), between himself and his wife,
knowing the winnings would be his wife s and not his own, he sees trouble ahead, and becomes
resentful of her. Only then does he check the final number to find that they have not won after all, at
which point the reality of their relatively impoverished situation takes hold and life, once again,
appears gloomy and mundane. In Tillie Olsen s I Stand Here Ironing , a mother meditates upon the
history of her now troubled teenage daughter, a daughter she feels she can do little to help. Her
daughter s temperament clearly arises from a troubled childhood. Abandoned by her father, with
competition from other siblings, raised in an impoverished environment, there is little wonder as we
read Olsen s description that the daughter should have turned into a troubled young woman. Her
mother in her meditations, however, has clearly felt hopeless throughout. She feels she can do nothing
for her daughter now as she has been able to do little for her in the past. She ends her

Corporate Strategy By Igor Ansoff
Igor Ansoff (1918 2002), is a Russian American scholar who published the book Corporate Strategy in
the year of 1965. This book had a big role in shaping the business world. He was the first one who
defined the term of strategic management. In this book the scholar tried to define in detail the strategic
management role in companies. The aim of this was to develop a way where potential of the firm had
to meet the firm s objectives. He tried to introduce planning into the companies so there would not be
any waste for the company. The book tried to explain the way how a company should operate
individually as every company has their own goals and resources. He believed that every company
should make strategies that suit their policy and their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He distinguished planning and strategy as being very clear that those two terms are different, through
his whole book he was explaining how planning is coming before making a strategy and how planning
is more important the strategy itself. One of his key point in the book was that the company should
more invest on the insight of the company then on the figures, as he believes that there is no high
output and profit if the employees are not satisfied. By reading his book, I have come to a conclusion
that every step has to be planned so the company gets to their

Hiroshima And The Atomic Bomb
On August 6th, 1945, the United States of America dropped the atomic bomb in Hiroshima, Japan.
This bomb decimated over two hundred thousand Japanese citizens, and caused the Empire of Japan
to surrender ending World War II. In his book Hiroshima, John Heresy reveals the stories of six
survivors, and how their lives were changed following the bombing. As you might expect, the time
succeeding the attack was rather hectic. Even more so for physicians and nurses, as thousands of
people were rushing towards them for medical assistance. Two physicians, Dr. Masakazu Fujii, and
Dr. Terufumi Sasaki, have survived to tell their stories. Dr. Fujii ran a hospital that overlooked a river.
When the bomb exploded, Dr. Fujii was blown off his feet and landed in the water along with the
remnants of his hospital. Dr. Sasaki was much luckier than Dr. Fujii, because he remained uninjured
and immediately started caring for those close to him. At the time the bomb exploded, Reverend Mr.
Kiyoshi Tanimoto is helping a friend move his daughter s belongings and Father Wilhelm Kleinsorge,
who was recently suffering from a stomach illness, was resting on his porch. Mrs. Hatsuyo Nakamura
had three children, and when the bomb exploded, she was looking out the window. She gathers her
children from the wreckage, and takes them to Asano Park, which was designed for use as an
evacuation area. Miss Toshiko Sasaki is a clerk, and when the bomb exploded, was at her office.

those children already eligible, but uninsured. These new tools also have a performance bonus system

eligible uninsured children in Medicaid. They would also have to adopt measures to streamline
enrollment and renewal in both Medicaid and CHIP. The law applies current Medicaid citizenship

Summary Of Louis Ck Selfishness
ABSTRACT:
Everyone around you behaving selfishly essentially leads to a world of mayhem. Louis C.K. a well
known comedian shares his experiences and stories of selfishness and how it affects the world around
you whether it may make sense or not. Although he begins to get a bit over bearing as he describes
what Gods reaction would be it allows the audience to truly recognize their mistakes and the mistakes
of others. By using logo and pathos Louis successfully shares that a world of selfishness is dangerous
and not in the common good for everyone. The true solution to selfishness would be to restrain
yourself from acting selfish and preventing the world to come to a crazy state.
Oscar Wilde once said. Selfishness is not living as one wishes to live; it is asking others to live as one
wishes to live. Throughout Selfishness (88Tonio88, 25 3 13) a comedy routine carried out by Louis
C.K. he begins to describe how it is difficult to stray from a selfish path. As he speaks he shows
acceptance that selfishness is something that cannot be rid of completely but one can learn how to deal
with it. It would be mayhem if everyone [acted that way] Louis describes. Selfishness is acting how
you d prefer others to act as well.
Louis a writer, comedian, actor and producer has been partaking in standup routines since he was a
teenager. A now resident ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Johann Sebastian Bach Speech
Johann Sebastian Bach was born on 21 March 1685 in Eisenach, duchy of Saxe Eisenach (modern day
Germany). Bach was the youngest of 8 children. He was born into a family that consisted of many
professional musicians, including Johann Ludwig Bach, another well known composer. Sebastian
Bach s father, Johann Ambrosius Bach worked as a town musician and it is believed that Ambrosius
taught him the violin and basic music theory. By the age of 10, both of his parents had died and
Sebastian had begun living with his oldest brother Johann Christoph Bach who was an organist at St.
Michael s Church. While living with his brother, Sebastian studied and performed music while being
taught the clavichord. Throughout the five years he spent with his brother, Sebastian Bach was
introduced to the works of many German, French and Italian composers. By April 3, 1700, Sebastian
Bach enrolled in St. Michaels School in Luneburg. Bach had a soprano singing voice and was a part of
the school s choir. During his time at the school however, his voice changed and eventually he
switched to playing the violin and harpsichord. He was greatly influenced by his organ teacher George
Bohm and from watching performances by German organist Johann Adam Reincken. Bach graduated
from St. Michael s School in January 1703. He was later appointed to be the musician for the chapel
of Duke Johann Ernst III in Weimar. There he served as a violinist and occasionally filled in as the
official organist. His seven months

Advertising Strategies For The Highest Product Sales
Thesis: Advertising strategies that lead to the highest product sales are the ones that utilize effective
branding and represent products honestly and clearly, capture the viewers attention, and remain in
viewers memories. Advertisers spend millions of dollars creating effective television ads and
commercials so consumers will purchase their products. Television advertising, the most powerful
form of advertising, enables both audio and video advertising messages. Unlike other means of
advertisements, like the newspaper, radios, websites and magazines, television advertising is quick
and memorable. Based on research reports, millions of people watch television every day, and it is one
of the leading leisure activities for human beings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the television advertising strategies that leads to the highest product sales is to utilize effective
branding and represent products honestly and clearly so that the product is represented clearly in the
commercial. An example of this is Tony the Tiger for Kellogg s cereal. Tony the Tiger appears in
commercials as an animated character interacting with children in a live action world. To be able to do
this, Kellogg and other cereal companies spend millions of dollars annually in advertising. By having
characters like these, viewers are able to immediately identify what brand is being presented. Another
example is the Bounty commercial form Procter and Gamble. This commercial compares Bounty and
bargain paper towels by showing them being used beside each other. This Bounty commercial shows
that Bounty paper towels are 50% stronger and more absorbent than bargain paper towels because the
commercial creators know that consumers would choose the brand that is known as the strongest.
Bounty is a little higher priced, but the commercial indicates that a person can use the towels longer
than the bargain brand towels. These commercials make people aware of the brand and cause the
viewers to be more likely to choose it over others. Many commercials do not present their brand name
clearly, and this leaves viewers confused as to what the commercial is selling. For

Pascal Boyer s Explanation Of Religion Summary
First of all, Pascal Boyer begins by giving common explanations of religion, all of them have some
logic and good understanding. Also, he introduces by saying that psychology, anthropology, and
neuroscience offer more empirical approach in acquiring and representing religious concepts. In fact,
he gives a table represented by Do s and Don ts in the study of religion, apparently what he wants us
to say and not say. He keeps saying the important that is our understanding of why religion is easy to
acquire and transmit by giving us what he thinks are the two main points of this statement, religion
does not activate particular capacity in the mind and religion and no religion are parts of our mental
equipment. He starts arguing that people defend their beliefs according to his view in what he call
sleep of reason interpretation. However, Boyer is not satisfactory at all with the sleep of reason
because some pieces of that information will have effect in some people but not others, and he express
that he could make up hundreds of such interesting and irrefutable beliefs that no one would ever
consider as a possible belief. Through the reading Pascal differs that all human beings do not have full
access to the way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, Boyer put on his writings many points of view about religion making me go sometimes
confused and of course feel different concepts about religion. Additionally, Boyer is able to present a
very dense network of theories which not only explains many religious phenomena but also sets them
in relation to each other. The integration of cognitive science research leads to a very realistic model
of how religious concepts are processed and communicated. Also, Boyer s account of the natural basis
of religion explains very well the persistence and re emergence of religion even in a secularized
environment, as well as the tensions between official and folk religion. In addition

Characters of Cold Mountain Essay
The film Cold Mountain, directed by Anthony Minghella, is set during the American Civil War and
tells the tales of two lovers, Inman and Ada. Inman is a strong, quiet and very moral country boy, very
different to the higher class Ada, who herself does not fit in with Inman s country lifestyle. Just as
Inman and Ada realise their love for each other Inman is forced to fight for the South in the war, and
Ada is left to look after herself. Inman then struggles to make his way back to his lover; and with no
means of contact Ada spends her time trying to keep up hope that Inman is still alive. Minghella uses
many techniques to create strong impressions of both Inman and Ada.

This can be seen in many other events in history such as during the holocaust in World War II. Oskar
Schindler saves almost a thousand Jews lives from near certain death by acting upon his morals which
tell him that the persecution that is occurring is not right. So through dialogue and camera shots
Minghella creates a strong impression of Inman, his resolution and his endurance.
Another character which Minghella creates a strong impression of is Ada. At the beginning of the film
Minghella presents Ada as a higher class southern belle and because of this we assume that she will be
frail, and not take well to hard times. Minghella uses costume to show that Ada is a lady. For example
Ada arrives into the small farming town of Cold Mountain wearing a very impractical but beautiful
white dress. However when the war starts and Ada is left on her own, she is able to change and
become a hard working southern girl, and she obtains a new found strength to her character that
neither she, nor the viewer, realised she had. She starts to dress in far more practical farm clothes
which are torn and dirty, and this change in costume reflects her change in character. She learns how
to run a farm, and for the first time in her life she does hard labour, which when we first meet Ada we
would not have predicted she could do. This change creates a strong impression of

As time passed this old grudge broke to utter hatred which led to chaotic civil fights. This dispute had
been ongoing for so long that it is forgotten why it had begun. Each member of each household just
had to pass on the streets and one way or another chaos would start. Shouting, crashing from civil
pillar to post, cursing and bawling, with or without knowing it they filled the good, innocent and
helpless citizens of Verona with trepidation and fury to have their cities peace and tranquillity so
senselessly disturbed by two uncontrollable and reckless households over a fight they did not know
how started. Romeo and Juliet are described as star crossed lovers . This means that they are both
from two separate opposing families and this makes their love impossible. It is impossible in the sense
that their love, feelings and emotions will never be accepted by both sides therefore they are forced to
keep it all a secret. This Shakespeare play is about these two young lovers and how the hate from the
two families resulted to such a tragic ending. If at the start they were free to love each other then
everything would have gone smoothly but of course there is their biggest obstacle, their parents which
they could not equivocate. The feuding the two households had repelled them away from

An Argumentative Essay On Black Panther
The panther or most commonly known as the black panther is part of the cat family. Jaguars and
leopards that have a black fur are considered a black panther as well. Basically, a black panther is a

The black panther lives in Asian, African, and American countries. It is commonly found in forests
and swamps that have a large source of prey such as deer and rabbits. Black panthers are very good at
adapting to their environment, unlike other cats or felines.
Another amazing feature of a black panther is that it is considered as one of the strongest climbers in

government also influences the factor costs of transport inputs through import duties, customs and

Pet Overpopulation Is A Serious Problem
Did you know about 25 million puppies and kittens are born into the United States each year? That s
more than 50,000 born each day in this country alone. Twenty five million pets produce yearly greatly
exceeds the amount of willing families to take care of these animals that are born into the world. Even
though, these massive amount of litters may in fact be completely healthy there is just not a sufficient
enough of homes for this animals to be place in. statically reported by the humane society of the
united states in October 2011 6 to 8 million animals who have no place to call their home are put into
animal shelters. Unfortunately, due to the excessive surplus of these animals about half which is 3 to 4
million only make it out alive. The other half left to be euthanize by the shelter to make room for the
new incoming animals. This turns out to be one animal euthanize every 8 sec. Pet overpopulation has
been a serious problem throughout the nation for many years. The on ongoing cycle of bring unwanted
litters of pets into the world makes it extremely difficult to reduce the amount of animals being
euthanize across the nation each and every day. It s important for people to understand the need to
spay and neuter their family s pets and all pets in general, all though people don t understand that need
its extremely important to take into account that these thousands of wanted any unneeded animals

Untested Rape Boxs
Recent events revealed earlier this year have brought to light the massive backlog of untested rape
kits. An increased public awareness of this backlog and approved funding has moved the issue from
the back burner.
While the effort of processing the backlog of rape kits is noble and of great public interest it may leave
some questioning the benefits that this testing provides to the survivors of sexual assault and the
general public.
In 2014 an estimated 2,700 untested rape kits in Utah were being submitted for processing. Some kits
dating back to as early as 1999.
The discovery of the backlog pushed lawmakers to fund the testing of these forgotten kits. And in
2014 Lawmakers approved $750,000 to begin the processing of the kits. ... Show more content on

Of those 767 kits submitted to the lab 586 have been processed to date.
But, as reported by the Salt Lake Police Department, of the 586 processed kits 89 of the matches led to
63 possible investigations. Twelve of those 63 cases were submitted to the Salt Lake District Attorney
for further review and out of those, seven were denied. The remaining five cases led to three
perpetrators being incarcerated. The remaining two are thought to have fled the country.
The general public, as well as some survivors of sexual assault may feel as if testing the rape kits will
remove rapists from their communities and put them where they belong. However, with statistics
being so low it brings up the question of whether quicker return times on processed kits would aid in a
greater amount of charges being filed, or if testing all of the rape kits would even be beneficial?
According to RAINN (Rape, Abuse Incest National Network) the benefits of having a sexual assault
exam done increases the chances of a perpetrator being identified. DNA evidence can also hold up in
court better and is more likely to lead to charges being filed. And finally, the collected DNA evidence
is added to the FBI database CODIS (Combined DNA Index System). So if a perpetrator is not
convicted and they do reoffend, their DNA is on file making it easier to connect to future

List And Describe The Basic Principles Of Phonics Instruction
o List and describe the basic principles of phonics instruction. The goal of reading is to understand
what one reads or comprehension (National Institute for Literacy, 2006). However, for students to
achieve this goal, the basic principles of teaching phonics and teaching the foundation of phonological
decoding skills must be administered at the correct level. When decoding skill taught at the correct
level are used students begin to read individual words, word strings fluently and start to comprehend
what they read. Unfortunately, phonics instruction is often viewed with a negative connotation when
the instruction is not delivered through a precise and structured process;therefore, this cause phonic
instruction to be non effective. The

Beginner Piano
This presentation is a guide for beginner piano players. The essential concepts needed for beginner
players to transition to the intermediate level are learning the notes on the piano, establishing a
rudimentary foundation in theory, obtaining proper form and technique, practicing finger exercises,
and learning the right music. (Slide 1 and 2)
The first tip in learning how to play the piano is understanding how many keys are present, and where
each note and octave is located. A standard piano has 88 keys that consist of seven octaves. Although
there are 88 keys, there are twelve notes which are A, B, C, D, E, F and G and their accidentals or
black keys. To help find notes, there is a repeating pattern throughout the piano that consist of two ...

Greeks Roles In Ancient Greek Culture
Ancient Greek culture has many commonalities with modern western culture. They both value an
individualistic society that glorifies intellectual, artistic and athletic prowess. The Greeks highly
valued in developing citizens and attaining glory for oneself. However, like with most of the ancient
cultures at this time, only the men were allowed to take the active roles in society. They participated in
everything from the arts to the military while the women, in contrast, were restricted to their homes. In
consequence, many their myths were frequently about men. In ancient India, where Hinduism was
predominant, the Hindu culture differed significantly from that of the Greeks. Most of what they stood
for was written in sacred scriptures that defined how they should live. They held a rigid caste system

Totem Pole Essay
The French also traded at Haida Gwaii. In 1791, Etienne Marchland saw the pole at Dadens and
describes the carving having an open mouth about a foot off the ground, the height of the opening at
three feet in diameter, and the width about two feet. The pole was carved from a large tree trunk,
towering above. Along the length of the pole were finely carved frogs, lizards and other animals, and
human body parts. Marchand goes on, A stranger might imagine that he saw the ex vote suspended to
the door case of the niche of a Madonna. Marchland was describing a house portal pole, where a hole
is carved just above the base of the crest pole large enough for a man to stoop or crawl through to
enter the house. (fig 2a) Europeans had trouble describing the art of Pacific Northwest native people,
often relying on reference to western art. This showed a great appreciation to the creators, and an
interest in the design style. Even with much effort to understand the meanings of the animals
intertwined with human figure, the best that could be done was to assume or speculate as to their
meanings. As trading increased in the region, the raising of totem poles and building of houses
flourished. New tools made carving faster, more precise and afforded the labor to create great works.
By the early nineteenth century, totem pole carving was entering a peak era. As indigenous
communities profited for trading with white men, their status rose. Great wealth was attained by mid

Mr. Scovanner and the Capital Expenditure Committee (CEC). The rank in order from best to worst is:
The Barn, Stadium Remodel, Whalen Court, Gopher Place, and Goldie s Square.
Attached to this document is a prepared ranking calculation that was created to best organize the five
location options. To follow, will be the justification for The Barn as the top recommendation,
alternative cases for the other four projects, and risks that can affect Target s decision. In determining
the ranking of the five proposals, there were both subjective and objective measurements. Based on
both of the types of measurements, The Barn, was the top overall recommendation. As seen in the
Ranking tab on the attached excel, the objective criteria included information from Exhibit 7 and the
provided dashboards (Exhibit8). Most notably from the exhibits, The Barn has the lowest investment
amount, highest IRR, and is in the top three for population and population growth. When looking at
the provided dashboard information regarding the sensitivity analyst, The Barn is the least sensitive to
percent changes in sales and construction cost. This is key for a new proposal in that The Barn offers
the best protection against unforeseen circumstances that are out of Target s control.
In addition to the objective rankings, The Barn is also the highest ranked when looking at subjective
criteria. Having The Barn be realized

Slavery Misconceptions
Ideologies, social patterns, social structures or cultural customs influences an individual s perception
of history. History is used as a building block for upcoming generations, thus making it difficult to
accept differences among societies.
In order to differentiate between the good or bad difference we must examine the period in which
certain practices were in play. Charon provides an excellent example. She states Racism did not
precede or cause slavery; it is clear from the historical record that it was the existence of slavery that
influenced the development of racism. Slavery was developed for economic gain, not because one
group was seen to be inferior (Charon, 2013, p. 138). The misconception that racism is the cause for
slavery,

The Role Of Political Machines In The Early 19th Century
Political machines were a very corrupt but necessary group during the 19th century into the early 20th.
They were a local political party organization that made it possible to get a large number of voters out
to get their candidate elected. Political machines were appealing to immigrants and other poor people
living in the cities as much as they were important to the politician they got elected.
There were 3 components to the political machines: the county committee, the ward or precinct
leaders and the party loyalists. The county committee members were those that held the top offices in
the county political party. People like Thomas J Pendergast from Kansas City, James Michael Curley
in Boston and Richard J Daley from Chicago. At this level they controlled the party s nominations, the
money and the votes. Much of their power came from the people that they got elected that owed them
favors for the votes.
The ward and precincts were where most of the action took place. A precinct is the smallest district for
electoral votes and a ward is how a city is divided. There were committeemen and captains at this
level. People working at this level very often were given government jobs for the work they did for the
party. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Part of the reason was the beginning of the progressive era. With the start of civil service merit to get
government jobs the ability to reward a worker with a good job went away and with that the power of
the political machine did too. Without the jobs to give, the workers went away. With the progressive
era came the beginning of social services and welfare so no longer were the political machines
necessary to provide for the residents in their ward. Another reason is that primary elections were
beginning to put a damper on the ability of the political machine to appoint the nominee they wanted
to run for

The Benefits Of Sign Language
Sounds are vibrations that travel through the air or another medium and can be heard when they reach
a person s or animal s ear. Some people are unable to hear these vibrations, they are either deaf or hard
of hearing. Sign Language is the use of facial expressions, fingerspelling, and gestures that represent
whole phrases or words used to communicate with deaf or hard of hearing people used to
communicate with deaf and hard of hearing citizens (lifeprint). All schools should teach sign language
as a foreign language.
Sign Language is the use of facial expressions, fingerspelling, and gestures that represent whole

useful in many jobs and careers such as social service agencies, mental health clinics, government

Macbeth In Animal Farm And George Orwell s Animal Farm
How can tyranny be prevented? The founding fathers, according to Federalist Paper 51, specifically
designed a system in which tyranny would be prevented. They believe in a government where
ambition would check ambition. If one s ambitions are not checked, however, it gives a lot of power to
one person which can lead to tyranny. Napoleon, in George Orwell s Animal Farm, is an abide
example of an ambitious leader who abuses his power. When Old Major dies, Snowball and Napoleon
both wanted to take his place as leader. Napoleon, in order to secure his seat as ruler, has his opponent
Snowball exiled. A tyrant will stop at nothing to promote his ambitions, even if that means
compromising his ethics. In Shakespeare s Macbeth, it is evident that Macbeth s ambition of being
king overrides his morality. However, some scholars are under the impression that Macbeth has no
moral compass. Macbeth is amoral and, therefore, there is nothing to override. Howard Felperin, a Ph.
D. from Harvard University and renowned author, argues, in his article A Painted Devil: Macbeth
from William Shakespeare: The Tragedies, that Macbeth was not a good person, rather he was a very
corrupt person. Someone who is not basically good cannot have any sense of morality, and is only
motivated by his pride and ambition (158). Throughout history, there has been authoritative figures
who have had no sense of morality. Adolf Hitler, for one, is someone who does not have a moral
compass. He is responsible for

The Causes Of The Battle Of Isandlwana
After the British arrived at the Cape, their influence and power spread to all areas of southern Africa.
This colonisation was met with conflict and resistance, involving many indigenous groups, and led to
tense skirmishes with the Zulu nation. This struggle between the Zulu and the English led to the Battle
of Isandlwana, one of the most famous British defeats in history. The causes involved demands for
labour and land, however there was an ulterior motive as to why Zululand was invaded.
Regarding Anglo Zulu relations, the British felt that the Zulu nation posed a great military threat
against the White Natal Colony and the Transvaal. The British sought to set up a Federation of White
colonies and states in South Africa in 1879 , however they felt vulnerable due to the fear caused by the
very near Zulu menace (Source D). This specific fear of the Zulu nation was dominant because at the

third city of the Republic of South Africa, one of its largest seaports and industrial centres. The
population of the area consisted of 210 000 Whites and 240 000 Bantu/Zulu (Source G) who presented
a threat at the time, making them an obvious target of British colonialism. This is why the British were
determined to increase the conflict with the Zulu kingdom, and thus they would spread their control

In Apocalypse Now, the role of this character is portrayed by Colonel Bill Kilgore. Marlow remarks
on the magnificent quality of the Manager s health, stating, His position had come to him why?
Perhaps because he was never ill (Conrad 89). The manager s inability to get sick strips him of a
quality which makes men human. Within the concept of illness, there is the very human sensation of
pain. Colonel Bill Kilgore escapes all pain. Willard states, He knew he wasn t gonna get so much as a

Effects Of Corporal Punishment
Corporal punishment affects a person s self esteem. Corporal punishment can negatively affect the
parent and the child, leaving them wondering the level of love from their parents. Corporal
punishment is illegal in some places, Some countries don t allow and even punish those who allow
corporal punishment. A parent could go to jail for spanking their child, hitting their children with belts,
flyswatters, paddles, ect. Corporal punishment can sometimes be very unnecessary, Not every bad
behavior needs to involve corporal punishment . It might be enough to have a serious conversation
with the child for them to see what they did wrong. When you start to give teachers and other people
who are not the parents the ability to punish a child so harshly, then people can begin to abuse this
power, and some usually do, in this society if you give an inch, they take a mile There is no true way
to determine if a child truly deserved the punishment or if it was simply because a teacher was
frustrated or fed up. That is because most of the time corporal punishment is given based on opinion.
Another big problem with corporal punishment by others other than the parent is, what if the child
gets injured, who is responsible? The parent, the person who did the punishment, or no one? Another
problem is, violence promotes more violence which is bad, violence can get kids in more trouble in a
different way with someone else, they will think what they re doing is perfectly fine because their

Petruchio is the villain that has all these insatiable curiosities. A male chauvinist, he is a boisterous

power, no matter how shrewish and unattractive his future wife may be. Further evidence that proves
that Petruchio only cares about Katherine s dowry is during the wedding feast, Petruchio announces:
Gentlemen and friends, I thank you for you I know you think to dine with me today And have

as clearly, there are seemingly more important things to him than celebrating his own marriage.
Hence, Petruchio s corruption for wealth is the only factor that drives him to marrying Katherine, as
he doesn t actually care about Katherine herself. Finally, the reason why Petruchio is able to complete
his plans is because of his audacious nature. His unrefined personality allows him to speak freely and
ask disrespectful questions in order to deceive people and grasp the situation in hand. This is evident
when Petruchio bluntly asks Baptista: Then tell me, if I get your daughter s love,

How Successful Is Singapore in the Sporting Industry

II. Sports Development in Singapore
Much of Singapore s economic success has been attributed to its status as a world class commercial
and trading centre. In the past century, the government has focused most of the nation s policies to
boost its economy and establish the country s reputation in the global market. There were sparse

enrichment programs and sports are no longer confined to being co curriculum activities or physical

One can notice that as the paintings of her have evolved, Mary becomes more and more seductive. Her
clothes are depicted more informal and loose and she is even topless in the last two images. This
shows how man has changed their point of view about women to a sexual perspective. It demonstrates
how man changed the meaning of art to benefit themselves by pleasing their own sexual desires. This
can also be seen in other painting techniques such as oil paintings. Since oil paintings utilizes advance
techniques, they could show more depth and details in what they portrayed. Those who were identified
as wealthy had the ease to take control over the breakthrough of art by inputting textures to an object
such as clothes to make them seem luxurious. The same could be seen in landscape drawings/
paintings. Berger goes on to state that before artists interests in ecology for envious purposes, nature
was not thought of as the object of the activities of capitalism; rather it was thought of as the arena in
which capitalism and social life and each individual life had its being , as humans used and enjoyed
the beauty of nature and its landscapes for what it is. Another example can be found on page 106
where Berger shows a picture of a couple, the Andrew s, sitting on a bench in front of a beautiful
landscape. Berger goes on to say that the point being made is that, among the pleasures their portrait
gave to Mr. and Mrs. Andrews,

Argumentative Essay:
Violent video games directly correlate to violence in schools
Do violence video games actually affect children? What is the correlation between virtual games and
violence at school? Most of the nowadays teenage activities and spending free time resolves around
technology. Not all the games are violent, but they all becoming more realistic. Some of the games are
designed to learn something, some games develop abilities of fast reading, fast typing, driving a car,
building from small farms to big civilizations, some promote to fight with enemies, rob banks or even

Psychologists of Iowa State University have conducted a study, where the study shows that brief
exposure to violent video games can cause a reduction in normal physiological reactivity to images of
real violence. One of the researches Dr. C. Anderson has said that children play very playful, fun,
cartoonish forms of violence and what is important to know is that, most of the violent games do not
show what consequences can it lead to when kids while playing kill an animal, beat and kill people,
use and abuse of alcohol or drugs, disrespect the law. Gentile Anderson (2003) state that playing video
games may increase aggressive behavior because violent acts are continually repeated throughout the
video game. This process of repeating in huge amounts is considered as an effective teaching method.

Machiavellian Folly in The Prince Essay
Machiavellian Folly in The Prince
In the annals of history, many individuals have contributed great works of literature, waxing
philosophically on the meaning of life, death, and love. Niccolo Machiavelli wrote not on love or life,
but on power: How to capture it, how to consolidate it, and how to defend it against all comers. His
work has been talked about and dissected to the extent that his subject matter and methods have
earned their own moniker: Machiavellian. Nonetheless, this great philosopher s works did not meet
with unanimous approval. His own student, Thomas Hobbes, presented a very different account of
politics. This essay offers a Hobbesian critique of some of Machiavelli s arguments, focusing in and
around ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2 Humans, according to Machiavelli, are not the morally grounded beings the Bible espouses them to
be. He writes in The Prince: For one can say this generally of men: that they are ungrateful, fickle,
pretenders and dissemblers, evaders of danger, eager for gain.3 Clearly, Machiavelli argues that man is
precarious a being of dubious morals and selfish desires. Hobbes agreed with this analysis, and took it
one step further. According to Hobbes, all mankind has a restless and perpetual desire for power,
which ceaseth only with death 4. Moreover, man can never be satisfied with the power he has. Hobbes
writes:
... [man] cannot assure the power and the means to live well, which he hath present, without the
acquisition of more [power].
Man s first need is to provide security for himself. Past experience and reason dictate that he will do
this by any means necessary even if it means killing everyone around him. Critics argue that Hobbes
and Machiavelli are too pessimistic; but they would both beg to differ. To both Hobbes and
Machiavelli, Aristotelian virtue is a deception; it can never be reached. Men do not want to be good;
they want to lie, they want to cheat, and they want to kill. To expect otherwise would be contrary to
their hostile nature. To both Hobbes and Machiavelli, political analysis must begin by identifying the
human being for what he really is a self interested, self seeking

Some of these good virtues can be inferred from ancient Egyptian funerary texts such as The Negative
Confession, which state I have not caused pain, I have not caused tears, I have not killed... [10]
According to this text, causing pain and tears, and committing murder were actions that could bar one
from attaining immortality. This standard of ethics differs from the previously held notion, which was
that only kings could become immortals. Because of the potential promise of eternity, people began to
act better, in hopes that their efforts would be enough.

Zoroastrianism (c. 628 B.C.E., birth of Zarathustra)[11]
Zoroastrianism is the indigenous religion of Persia, founded by Zarathustra. Zoroastrians believe that
Ahura Mazda, the Supreme Lord, is caught in a cosmic battle with the evil spirit, Angra Mainyu.[12]
There are also six lesser deities, known as amesha spentas[13], making it a henotheistic religion. The
teachings of this faith are preserved in the Avesta and the Gathas. It gained popularity during the
Achaemenid empire, thanks to wealthy individuals donating land and money for the building of
Zoroastrianism. During the Sasanid dynasty, it became officially sponsored by the ruling class and
those who opposed its teaching were

The Issue Of Saudi Arabia Essay
Saudi Arabia earns around $360bn annually net exports; this is at $115 per barrel (The
Economist,2014) This will be half if the price remains at $60 per barrel. The budget is now at the red
line, and this is a catastrophe, since it will be decades to revive from such economic mess. In the short
run, there will be no big deal, the country may go deep in the pocket to finance its budget, while in the
medium term, it will hurt the economy, leading to less expenditures. This may not go well with the
outlook of the citizens. Long term effect may be taxation, and less expenditure. The expenditure may
be cut down as it was in mid 1980s, and this will be a draconian austerity to face. The exorbitant
political patronage as it has been in the Sunni world will face rough times to prop up the likes of
Egypt. The only item that still holds them together in this medieval regime may be the social
spending, but still there is terrorist attacks and Yemen invasion, reported by Forbes (2015). The
current reserves may go down by close or more than $200bn in the year 2018, and this will cause
capital flight. The current trap is hard and dealing with Russia alone to cut on the output alone will
bring more shale production in the years to come.
The resilience of Saudi Arabia to cut back the output of oil led to more supply in the market, leading
to low prices. This can be seen as an agenda in long term basis (INSS, 2015). They are prepared more
than enough to deplete their reserves, while in the

Essay On Coastal Erosion
You stride down the California coast, and stumble upon a path that leads you along a clifftop. Close
your eyes and take a deep breath of the cool ocean air. Hear the sound of the seagulls above your head,
and waves crashing. Then as you open you eyes, you see homes on the precipice of a ledge, about to
tip over. A wave crashes against the cliff you stand on, and a massive chunk falls into the foaming sea
below! This just one of the horrid effects of coastal erosion. Coastal erosion is a very large problem on
the California coast, and if nothing is done to stop it, in as little as 50 years, California will have little
to no beaches.[1]
Coastal erosion happens when waves strike a cliff so many times, that the cliff slowly is worn down.

The most common of these re sea walls. They are as their name suggests, a wall of cement separating
the beach from the land behind it. These are not very good because although they prevent the erosion
of the land behind it, they cause the sand in front of the wall to disappear quicker. The waves are
forced back on themselves and collect more debris and sand than they usually would. These sea walls
also create even more erosion where the sea wall ends, because of the way the waves travel. Other
cities are transporting sand in from around the country, but only to need more within a few years. The
next form of erosion prevention is called at groyne. Groynes are hard structures perpendicular to the
beach and are often used in groups. They can be either above water, or below water, depending on the
slope of the beach. Groynes work better than seawalls at protecting beaches, but still don t prevent
beach erosion. Surprisingly, a very good way to prevent beach erosion is to plant more plants on the
dunes. The plants help hold the sand and collect sand from the waves.
There are a few ways the everyday citizen can help prevent coastal erosion. The simplest way is to
reduce your carbon footprint. By reducing your carbon footprint less greenhouse gasses are produced,
so sea level rise is slowed. Some way to reduce your carbon footprint are to, drive less, turn off lights,
recycle, use less water, and eat locally

  • 2. Oxidative Stress Lab Report Biochemistry of Free Radicals and Oxidative Stress The research was done by Sabry M. El Bahr at the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, P.O. Box 22758, Alexandria University, Egypt. The overall purpose of this experiment was to study the causes of oxidative stress that is caused by free radical. It is known that the free radicals and the Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) are used interchangeably. ROS can damage DNA, biomembrane lipids, proteins and other macromolecules. The primary source of ROS is the leakage of electron from the respiratory chain during the reduction of molecular oxygen to water generating superoxide anion. The classification of ROS includes oxygen centered radicals and oxygen centered non radicals. Moreover, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The system can take care of those reactive oxygen species, some of them are enzymes, including glutathione peroxidase, catalase and superoxide dismutase which are the most major antioxidant enzymes that are capable to minimize oxidative stress in the organelles, and some are non enzyme antioxidants such as glutathione, selenium, vitamin C and E. Oxidative stress is when the balance is in favor of oxidase, so when the antioxidants systems in the cell cannot keep up, something gets out of whack and things start to come oxidized. This can happen in a lot of ways, we have endogenous sources of ROS; things that are happening in the cell like aerobic cellular respiration where the ROS are being produced as a result of some byproduct or some cellular process that supposed to be occurring like electron transport in cellular respiration or breaking down fatty acid and peroxisome. In this study, scientist found that there are levels of free radicals reactivity of the compounds that are being produced in the cell; some with least reactivity such as H2O2, and some are highly reactive such as OH. The free radicals can affect the cell negatively. One of the element that generates free radicals and causes oxidative stress is cadmium. It increases lipid peroxidation and/or changes intracellular glutathione levels. However, investigators found that some plants such as curcumin is a natural drug that works ... • 3. Analysis Of Anton Chekhov s The Lottery Ticket I Stand Here Ironing vs. The Lottery Ticket In Anton Chekhov s The Lottery Ticket , we are presented with a couple who, half believing they have won the lottery, give themselves over to daydreaming what the future may hold with their winnings. The point of view is that of the husband though it is clear, throughout, that his thoughts find their echo in his wife s. At first his thoughts are pleasant but then, as he takes into account the differences, (some of them supposed), between himself and his wife, knowing the winnings would be his wife s and not his own, he sees trouble ahead, and becomes resentful of her. Only then does he check the final number to find that they have not won after all, at which point the reality of their relatively impoverished situation takes hold and life, once again, appears gloomy and mundane. In Tillie Olsen s I Stand Here Ironing , a mother meditates upon the history of her now troubled teenage daughter, a daughter she feels she can do little to help. Her daughter s temperament clearly arises from a troubled childhood. Abandoned by her father, with competition from other siblings, raised in an impoverished environment, there is little wonder as we read Olsen s description that the daughter should have turned into a troubled young woman. Her mother in her meditations, however, has clearly felt hopeless throughout. She feels she can do nothing for her daughter now as she has been able to do little for her in the past. She ends her ... This bomb decimated over two hundred thousand Japanese citizens, and caused the Empire of Japan to surrender ending World War II. In his book Hiroshima, John Heresy reveals the stories of six survivors, and how their lives were changed following the bombing. As you might expect, the time succeeding the attack was rather hectic. Even more so for physicians and nurses, as thousands of people were rushing towards them for medical assistance. Two physicians, Dr. Masakazu Fujii, and Dr. Terufumi Sasaki, have survived to tell their stories. Dr. Fujii ran a hospital that overlooked a river. When the bomb exploded, Dr. Fujii was blown off his feet and landed in the water along with the remnants of his hospital. Dr. Sasaki was much luckier than Dr. Fujii, because he remained uninjured and immediately started caring for those close to him. At the time the bomb exploded, Reverend Mr. Kiyoshi Tanimoto is helping a friend move his daughter s belongings and Father Wilhelm Kleinsorge, who was recently suffering from a stomach illness, was resting on his porch. Mrs. Hatsuyo Nakamura had three children, and when the bomb exploded, she was looking out the window. Louis C.K. a well known comedian shares his experiences and stories of selfishness and how it affects the world around you whether it may make sense or not. Although he begins to get a bit over bearing as he describes what Gods reaction would be it allows the audience to truly recognize their mistakes and the mistakes of others. By using logo and pathos Louis successfully shares that a world of selfishness is dangerous and not in the common good for everyone. The true solution to selfishness would be to restrain yourself from acting selfish and preventing the world to come to a crazy state. Oscar Wilde once said. • 9. Johann Sebastian Bach Speech Johann Sebastian Bach was born on 21 March 1685 in Eisenach, duchy of Saxe Eisenach (modern day Germany). Bach was the youngest of 8 children. He was born into a family that consisted of many professional musicians, including Johann Ludwig Bach, another well known composer. Sebastian Bach s father, Johann Ambrosius Bach worked as a town musician and it is believed that Ambrosius taught him the violin and basic music theory. By the age of 10, both of his parents had died and Sebastian had begun living with his oldest brother Johann Christoph Bach who was an organist at St. Michael s Church. While living with his brother, Sebastian studied and performed music while being taught the clavichord. Throughout the five years he spent with his brother, Sebastian Bach was introduced to the works of many German, French and Italian composers. By April 3, 1700, Sebastian Bach enrolled in St. Michaels School in Luneburg. Bach had a soprano singing voice and was a part of the school s choir. During his time at the school however, his voice changed and eventually he switched to playing the violin and harpsichord. He was greatly influenced by his organ teacher George Bohm and from watching performances by German organist Johann Adam Reincken. Bach graduated from St. Michael s School in January 1703. He was later appointed to be the musician for the chapel of Duke Johann Ernst III in Weimar. There he served as a violinist and occasionally filled in as the official organist. His seven months ... One of the television advertising strategies that leads to the highest product sales is to utilize effective branding and represent products honestly and clearly so that the product is represented clearly in the commercial. An example of this is Tony the Tiger for Kellogg s cereal. Tony the Tiger appears in commercials as an animated character interacting with children in a live action world. To be able to do this, Kellogg and other cereal companies spend millions of dollars annually in advertising. By having characters like these, viewers are able to immediately identify what brand is being presented. Another example is the Bounty commercial form Procter and Gamble. This commercial compares Bounty and bargain paper towels by showing them being used beside each other. This Bounty commercial shows that Bounty paper towels are 50% stronger and more absorbent than bargain paper towels because the commercial creators know that consumers would choose the brand that is known as the strongest. Bounty is a little higher priced, but the commercial indicates that a person can use the towels longer than the bargain brand towels. These commercials make people aware of the brand and cause the viewers to be more likely to choose it over others. Many commercials do not present their brand name clearly, and this leaves viewers confused as to what the commercial is selling. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, like with most of the ancient cultures at this time, only the men were allowed to take the active roles in society. They participated in everything from the arts to the military while the women, in contrast, were restricted to their homes. In consequence, many their myths were frequently about men. In 1791, Etienne Marchland saw the pole at Dadens and describes the carving having an open mouth about a foot off the ground, the height of the opening at three feet in diameter, and the width about two feet. The pole was carved from a large tree trunk, towering above. Along the length of the pole were finely carved frogs, lizards and other animals, and human body parts. Marchand goes on, A stranger might imagine that he saw the ex vote suspended to the door case of the niche of a Madonna. Marchland was describing a house portal pole, where a hole is carved just above the base of the crest pole large enough for a man to stoop or crawl through to enter the house. (fig 2a) Europeans had trouble describing the art of Pacific Northwest native people, often relying on reference to western art. This showed a great appreciation to the creators, and an interest in the design style. Even with much effort to understand the meanings of the animals intertwined with human figure, the best that could be done was to assume or speculate as to their meanings. As trading increased in the region, the raising of totem poles and building of houses flourished. New tools made carving faster, more precise and afforded the labor to create great works. By the early nineteenth century, totem pole carving was entering a peak era. As indigenous communities profited for trading with white men, their status rose. As seen in the Ranking tab on the attached excel, the objective criteria included information from Exhibit 7 and the provided dashboards (Exhibit8). Most notably from the exhibits, The Barn has the lowest investment amount, highest IRR, and is in the top three for population and population growth. When looking at the provided dashboard information regarding the sensitivity analyst, The Barn is the least sensitive to percent changes in sales and construction cost. History is used as a building block for upcoming generations, thus making it difficult to accept differences among societies. In order to differentiate between the good or bad difference we must examine the period in which certain practices were in play. Charon provides an excellent example. She states Racism did not precede or cause slavery; it is clear from the historical record that it was the existence of slavery that influenced the development of racism. Slavery was developed for economic gain, not because one group was seen to be inferior (Charon, 2013, p. 138). The misconception that racism is the cause for slavery, ... They were a local political party organization that made it possible to get a large number of voters out to get their candidate elected. Political machines were appealing to immigrants and other poor people living in the cities as much as they were important to the politician they got elected. There were 3 components to the political machines: the county committee, the ward or precinct leaders and the party loyalists. The county committee members were those that held the top offices in the county political party. People like Thomas J Pendergast from Kansas City, James Michael Curley in Boston and Richard J Daley from Chicago. At this level they controlled the party s nominations, the money and the votes. Much of their power came from the people that they got elected that owed them favors for the votes. The ward and precincts were where most of the action took place. • 33. Macbeth In Animal Farm And George Orwell s Animal Farm How can tyranny be prevented? The founding fathers, according to Federalist Paper 51, specifically designed a system in which tyranny would be prevented. They believe in a government where ambition would check ambition. If one s ambitions are not checked, however, it gives a lot of power to one person which can lead to tyranny. Napoleon, in George Orwell s Animal Farm, is an abide example of an ambitious leader who abuses his power. When Old Major dies, Snowball and Napoleon both wanted to take his place as leader. Napoleon, in order to secure his seat as ruler, has his opponent Snowball exiled. A tyrant will stop at nothing to promote his ambitions, even if that means compromising his ethics. In Shakespeare s Macbeth, it is evident that Macbeth s ambition of being king overrides his morality. However, some scholars are under the impression that Macbeth has no moral compass. Macbeth is amoral and, therefore, there is nothing to override. Howard Felperin, a Ph. D. from Harvard University and renowned author, argues, in his article A Painted Devil: Macbeth from William Shakespeare: The Tragedies, that Macbeth was not a good person, rather he was a very corrupt person. Someone who is not basically good cannot have any sense of morality, and is only motivated by his pride and ambition (158). This colonisation was met with conflict and resistance, involving many indigenous groups, and led to tense skirmishes with the Zulu nation. This struggle between the Zulu and the English led to the Battle of Isandlwana, one of the most famous British defeats in history. Regarding Anglo Zulu relations, the British felt that the Zulu nation posed a great military threat against the White Natal Colony and the Transvaal. The British sought to set up a Federation of White colonies and states in South Africa in 1879 , however they felt vulnerable due to the fear caused by the very near Zulu menace (Source D). Corporal punishment can negatively affect the parent and the child, leaving them wondering the level of love from their parents. Corporal punishment is illegal in some places, Some countries don t allow and even punish those who allow corporal punishment. A parent could go to jail for spanking their child, hitting their children with belts, flyswatters, paddles, ect. Corporal punishment can sometimes be very unnecessary, Not every bad behavior needs to involve corporal punishment . It might be enough to have a serious conversation with the child for them to see what they did wrong. When you start to give teachers and other people who are not the parents the ability to punish a child so harshly, then people can begin to abuse this power, and some usually do, in this society if you give an inch, they take a mile There is no true way to determine if a child truly deserved the punishment or if it was simply because a teacher was frustrated or fed up. That is because most of the time corporal punishment is given based on opinion. Another big problem with corporal punishment by others other than the parent is, what if the child gets injured, who is responsible? The parent, the person who did the punishment, or no one? Some of these good virtues can be inferred from ancient Egyptian funerary texts such as The Negative Confession, which state I have not caused pain, I have not caused tears, I have not killed... [10] According to this text, causing pain and tears, and committing murder were actions that could bar one from attaining immortality. This standard of ethics differs from the previously held notion, which was that only kings could become immortals. Because of the potential promise of eternity, people began to act better, in hopes that their efforts would be enough. Chavin Cult (c. 1000 B.C.E.) The Chavin Cult Upanishads (c. 800 B.C.E.) Zoroastrianism (c. 628 B.C.E., birth of Zarathustra)[11] Zoroastrianism is the indigenous religion of Persia, founded by Zarathustra. Zoroastrians believe that Ahura Mazda, the Supreme Lord, is caught in a cosmic battle with the evil spirit, Angra Mainyu.[12] There are also six lesser deities, known as amesha spentas[13], making it a henotheistic religion. The teachings of this faith are preserved in the Avesta and the Gathas. It gained popularity during the Achaemenid empire, thanks to wealthy individuals donating land and money for the building of

  • 50. The Issue Of Saudi Arabia Essay Saudi Arabia earns around $360bn annually net exports; this is at $115 per barrel (The Economist,2014) This will be half if the price remains at $60 per barrel. The budget is now at the red line, and this is a catastrophe, since it will be decades to revive from such economic mess. In the short run, there will be no big deal, the country may go deep in the pocket to finance its budget, while in the medium term, it will hurt the economy, leading to less expenditures. This may not go well with the outlook of the citizens. Long term effect may be taxation, and less expenditure. The expenditure may be cut down as it was in mid 1980s, and this will be a draconian austerity to face. The exorbitant political patronage as it has been in the Sunni world will face rough times to prop up the likes of Egypt. The only item that still holds them together in this medieval regime may be the social spending, but still there is terrorist attacks and Yemen invasion, reported by Forbes (2015). The current reserves may go down by close or more than $200bn in the year 2018, and this will cause capital flight. The current trap is hard and dealing with Russia alone to cut on the output alone will bring more shale production in the years to come. The resilience of Saudi Arabia to cut back the output of oil led to more supply in the market, leading to low prices. This can be seen as an agenda in long term basis (INSS, 2015). They are prepared more than enough to deplete their reserves, while in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Essay On Coastal Erosion You stride down the California coast, and stumble upon a path that leads you along a clifftop. Close your eyes and take a deep breath of the cool ocean air. Hear the sound of the seagulls above your head, and waves crashing. Then as you open you eyes, you see homes on the precipice of a ledge, about to tip over. A wave crashes against the cliff you stand on, and a massive chunk falls into the foaming sea below! This just one of the horrid effects of coastal erosion. Coastal erosion is a very large problem on the California coast, and if nothing is done to stop it, in as little as 50 years, California will have little to no beaches.[1] Coastal erosion happens when waves strike a cliff so many times, that the cliff slowly is worn down. There ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The most common of these re sea walls. They are as their name suggests, a wall of cement separating the beach from the land behind it. These are not very good because although they prevent the erosion of the land behind it, they cause the sand in front of the wall to disappear quicker. The waves are forced back on themselves and collect more debris and sand than they usually would. These sea walls also create even more erosion where the sea wall ends, because of the way the waves travel. Other cities are transporting sand in from around the country, but only to need more within a few years. The next form of erosion prevention is called at groyne. Groynes are hard structures perpendicular to the beach and are often used in groups. They can be either above water, or below water, depending on the slope of the beach. Groynes work better than seawalls at protecting beaches, but still don t prevent beach erosion. Surprisingly, a very good way to prevent beach erosion is to plant more plants on the dunes. The plants help hold the sand and collect sand from the waves. There are a few ways the everyday citizen can help prevent coastal erosion. The simplest way is to reduce your carbon footprint. By reducing your carbon footprint less greenhouse gasses are produced, so sea level rise is slowed. Some way to reduce your carbon footprint are to, drive less, turn off lights, recycle, use less water, and eat locally ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
