The Franchise Of A Franchise Essay
Franchises are across the world these days place like McDonalds,7eleven and Burger king have been
around for a while and will continue until the day the world dies. A franchise is a business relationship
in which a franchisor grants a license to another business a franchisee. To become a Franchise is not
an overnight task. Capital needs to be raised to purchase the franchise most franchises can be up to
one million dollars or more. After raising capital, a franchise can be purchased, but there are rules and
regulations that must be followed. Franchisees have duties and responsibilities they have to account
for. Then the franchise agreement that needs to be followed to the letter. After buying the franchise the
Franchisee have duties and responsibilities have the rights to Operate the franchise as an owner. Also
the franchisee must follow a set of rules that is given by the franchisor. The franchisee must use
trademarks or trade dress of the franchise. For example, McDonald s has a huge M, the golden arches,
on their stores and that is the trade mark that has to be used and cannot be changed from the
franchisees or it will be a breach of contract that could lead to a huge law suit which is not a good
thing. The franchise has option to determine when the contract could end. There is a fixed period of
time and they even have the option for renewal to keep the franchise growing. Next, The franchisor
may provide a source of supply. For example, if someone bought a

The Truth About Performance-Enhancing Drugs
The Truth About Performance Enhancing Drugs
Doping in sports. A topic in which shows up in T.V. shows, movies, newspapers, and magazine
articles. But what does society really know about performance enhancing drugs? According to the
website Merriam Webster the definition of doping is illegal use of a drug (such as a steroid) to
improve an athlete s performance. Doping in sport should not be allowed because, it is not fair to the
athletes not on steroids, dangerous to the user, and aggression towards other players also known as
roid rage.
Doping in sports is unfair to to the players not on steroids. A professor of philosophy names David

Tyrosinase Lab
Results and Discussion
The natural occurrence of tyrosinase within Agaricus bisporus makes it an incredibly viable resource
in both the food and drug industries. However, the likelihood that tyrosinase is evenly distributed
throughout the mushroom is very slim. In order to determine which specific tissues contained the
greatest concentration of Tyrosinase it became necessary to investigate the localization of within the
white button mushroom.
In order to observe the presence of tyrosinase within the various sections Agaricus bisporus it was
necessary to separate samples into specified regions. Below in Figure 1 is a diagram outlining the
different components that were observed. The protein concentration within each of these sections was
observed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This trend can be rationalized when considering the placement of these sections on the mushroom
(Figure 1). C2 is the outer most part of the mushroom s cap so it receives a greater amount of exposure
compared to other sections like S2. Exposure is crucial in the functions of tyrosinase because
tyrosinase needs to be in the presence of molecular oxygen to undergo its reactions. However, one
discrepancy that arises from this theory is the specific activity of the skin (K1). The skin is the most
exposed portion so one would expect it to have the greatest specific activity. While it does have a
relatively high specific activity value it is easily overshadowed by the specific activity of C2. This
raises the question of whether the data collected for the latent C2 samples is

Speculative Fiction In The Novel Unwind By Neal Shusterman
Have you ever wondered what life would be like in the future? What if speculative fiction could
predict what our society would be like? Speculative fiction is a term used to describe any story that is
based in a world that is unlike reality. Examples of speculative fiction include: science fiction, horror,
fantasy, post apocalyptic, supernatural etc. Speculative fiction is vital in modern society as it allows
you to open a whole new world full of creativity and imagination. The novel Unwind written by Neal
Shusterman also gives us an insight into what our future might be like. It is a hugely popular genre in
our society and there are many reasons for that. Reasons such as: allows our creativity and
imagination to flourish, give hope to humanity, as well as offers a creative alternative world that
allows us to understand our better. Without speculative fiction could you imagine what society would
be like in 100 years, 1000, even 1,000,000?
Speculative Fiction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Speculative fiction gives hope to humanity through humans being able to think of impossible things
that weren t possible many years ago. Speculative fiction allows our imagination to run free. As well
as knowing things will change in society through using creativity to visualise what the future might be
like. The novel unwind demonstrates hope for humanity because the society described is harrowing
and spine chilling. Every piece of a child s body from their hands to their hearts is wanted, up until
they turn eighteen. In modern society this isn t a known or legal practise, but this allows us to imagine
what it would be like and to ensure it doesn t happen, to give hope to our human race. For example:
There is nothing more to fight about. My parents signed the order it s a done deal, I m gone. Meaning
he is given up hope, although he is only a child he is going to be sent to his death in a matter of days
and he can t be bothered to fight

Parabola Y X2 Change
The shape of the basis parabola y=x2 changes for different forms of the parabolic function causing it
to translate, reflect or dilate. Dilation (widening or narrowing) of the parabola occurs when the basis
parabola y=x2 is multiplied or divided (m) therefore changing the equation to either y=mx2 or
y=x^2/m. For instance, if the parabola is multiplied by two the parabola becomes narrower whereas if
the parabola is divided by two the parabola becomes wider. This is evident in the graph in question 1b
as when the basis parabola is multiplied by fourteen the parabola becomes narrower however when the
basis parabola is divided by fourteen it becomes wider. Reflection of the parabola occurs when the
basis parabola y=x2 is changed to y= x2. For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vertical (upwards or downwards) translation of the parabola occurs when the basis parabola y=x2, y
value of each point is increased or decreased therefore changing the equation to either to y=x2+h or
y=x2 h. For instance, in order to translate the parabola upwards by 5 units it shifts the general point (a,
a2) to (a, a2+5) therefore making the equation, y= x2+5. The vertex of this parabola is now (0,5) but it
still has the same axis of symmetry. Likewise, when the basis parabola becomes y=x2 5 the parabola is
translated 5 units down with the vertex (0, 5). This can be seen through the graph in question 1a as the
parabolas are vertically translated upwards or downwards by using the addition or subtraction of
fourteen. Conversely, horizontal translation of the parabola occurs when the translation parabola
equation y=x2±h is changed to y=(x±h)2. Therefore, the horizontal translation for the parabola is
changed by the value of the variable h, that is subtracted from x before the squaring operation. For
example, in order to translate the parabola to the left by 4 units it shifts the general point (a, a2) to (a,
(a+2)2) therefore making the equation, y= (x+2)2. The vertex of this parabola is now (0,4). Likewise,
when the basis parabola becomes y=(x 2)2 the parabola is translated 2 units to the right with the vertex
(0, 4). This can be seen through the graph in

A Look At The Sound Of Music
A Look at the Sound of Music As a college student, I have seen innumerable people walking by with
their headphones in, using music to block out the rest of the world. With the convenience of an iPhone
or other smart phone, listening to music has become so casual. With the press of a button, voila! Miley
Cyrus is at the tips of your fingertips. It s become so normalized that these same people seldom think
about the science behind that noise in your ear. A disturbance in space results in a periodic wave which
propagates through that space, usually transferring energy ( Introduction to Waves ). This transfer of
energy can be explained by the conservation of momentum and energy in collisions. Momentum is
never lost; kinetic energy may be lost. If kinetic energy is conserved, the collision was elastic; if the
kinetic energy was transferred, the collision was inelastic.
Momentum is a vector, defined as p=mv, where momentum equals mass times the velocity at which
the mass travels. The rate of change of momentum is that mass s net force, defined as ∑▒〖F=∆p/
∆t〗, where force is equal to change in momentum over a given time interval ( Lecture 12:
Momentum ).
Mechanical energy is equal to the sum of kinetic (KE) and potential energy (PE), derived from the law
of conservation of energy, which states that the total energy of a closed system is conserved
(Tuckerman). Potential energy is energy that is associated with some force, and is thus dependent on
its initial position. Potential

Weaving In The Odyssey
Textile production is closely affiliated with the feminine realm of domesticated work. Spinning and
weaving were necessary skills women needed to learn in order to provide clothing and other woven
materials for their families (Reeder, 1995, 200). However, weaving was much more than a household
chore. Weaving can tell stories or be a means of communication. It can be used for trickery or making
a political statement. The different facets of weaving are highlighted by examining ancient primary
sources.
The act of weaving became so ingrained with female domesticity that it evolved into a symbolic ideal.
Women were praised in poems, plays, inscriptions, and other forms of media for their skills of wool
working. The Roman historian, Titus Livius, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The band loom is needed to make the heading band which will be attached at the top of the warp
weighted loom (19:52). The warp threads hang down from the heading band (19:54). At the ends of
the warps are weights, usually made out of stone or clay, to weigh down the warps and cause tension
(20:20). The thread that passes across the warp is called the weft or woof (14:29). The wefts goes over
and under the warp threads forming a plain weave (Barber, 1994, 39). This is a tedious process which
can be sped up by using a shed rod (15:08). The shed rod is a stick that is connected to the warp
weighted loom and is placed in between the front and rear warp threads (19:57). A space then forms
between the front and rear warp threads called a shed (15:20). In the shed a shuttle, which is a tool that
holds the weft, can be inserted through the warp (15:30). To pass the weft back in the opposite
direction the weaver uses a heddle rod (15:38). Heddles are looped strings linked to the rear warp
threads and the heddle rod itself (15:38). When the rod is raised another shed is created and the shuttle
is pass through again (15:50). After the weft is woven into the warp it is beaten into placed with a stick
(21:16). The routine continues until the weaving is complete. The finished cloth then undergoes the
process of fooling. Fooling simply consist of washing and brushing (21:47). Because the cloth is made
out of wool it will shrink

The Decision Of The Fourteenth Amendment On The Color Of...
having children attend school based on the color of their skin was unconstitutional and it damaged
children, especially African American children. The Court concluded that it was in violation of the
Fourteenth Amendment to keep individuals separate based on the color of their skin. The decision in
Brown was one of extreme importance and significance that could have represented a new start in the
Supreme Court regarding civil rights cases. However, that was not the case, after Brown II the
Supreme Court refused to hear a case that was on appeal: Naim v. Naim, Mr. Naim and Mrs. Naim one
were white and the other was Chinese. The two individuals were residents of Virginia, where it was
illegal for a white person to marry a person who was not white. The couple traveled to North Carolina
to get married. After a while Mrs. Naim decided that the marriage wasn t going to work so she sued
her husband for an annulment claiming that their marriage was not valid because of the law in
Virginia. Mr. Naim appealed to the Supreme Court and as the court was breaking down the
segregation system they chose not to hear the case. Naim v. Naim was an embarrassment only because
it was out of the question, in 1955, that the Court upheld the constitutionality of a law prohibiting
interracial marriage yet the constitutional object . This again emphasizes the weight and importance of
the framing of the Fourteenth Amendment. The framers chose the option that meant the Constitution

When Looking At A Primary Source, The Analyzer Must Take
When looking at a primary source, the analyzer must take into consideration several components that
can help him or her narrow down their inferences about the source. The first thing to analyze in depth
is the Authorship. This means to look specifically at the topics addressed and the natural biases that
are relevant in the work. The tone in the subject matter is also important to see how strongly the
source may show content or resent towards a specific topic. Even certain writing styles can help
decipher an era, culture or even an individual. The specific word syntax leads to how an analyzer
would discover the purpose or rationale for the primary source. Purpose and rationale are huge parts of
understanding a source and the time period ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Obviously looking at this, the topic is based around religion or its roots are based in religion. Naturally
there is a desire to find out which religion. Now previously there are references to God and Christ, so
the author must be some denomination of Catholicism but in the fourth article the author says rights
should be exercised in a Christian and brotherly fashion . The author is very religious and now there is
clear evidence that he is a Christian. This along with all of the authors religious vocabulary helps
define the author as a very religious human. The author uses the nature of religion to mediate the issue
at hand. The issue is not religion because in the third article the author exclaims Christ has delivered
and redeemed us all . Although religion is strongly talked about it is not the dissenting issue because
the author sees that who the author is dissenting from is still the son of the same God. The issue lies in
a power struggle, mainly an economic one. In the same article the author says it is consistent with
Scripture that we should be free and wish to be so. Not that we would wish to be absolutely free and
under no authority . The Author is using religion to back the ideology of freedom. The Author clearly
is talking about authority overstepping its boundaries. The author constantly uses the term poor man
and when to referring to the poor man the author uses words such

Mobile Wireless Network Essay
Recent progress in mobile wireless network has provided a major impulse towards the development of
self organized, self created, and rapidly deployable network architecture referred to as Mobile Ad Hoc
Networks (MANETs). Although the application area of MANETs was initially proposed for
environments of disaster recovery and battle field communications, the evolution of the Multimedia
Technology and the commercial interest of companies to reach widely civilian applications, have
made Quality of Service in such networks more important.
Many different protocols have been proposed to support Quality of service in MANETs, each based on

A Mobile Ad Hoc network is receiving attention due to several salient characteristics such as:
 Dynamic topologies
 Bandwidth constrained links
 Energy constrained operation
 Limited physical security.
Therefore the routing protocols for wired networks cannot be directly used for wireless networks.
Some examples of the possible uses of Ad Hoc networking include students using laptop computers to
participate in an interactive lecture, business associates sharing information during a meeting, soldiers
relaying information for situational awareness on the battlefield and emergency disaster relief
personnel coordinating efforts after a hurricane or earthquake. A MANET uses multi hop routing
instead of a static network infrastructure to provide network connectivity. Several routing protocols
have been proposed for MANETs. Initially, in this work, number of ways of classification or
categorization of existing routing protocols and the survey on the performance comparison of
important protocols such as AODV [2], DSR [3] and DSDV [4] are presented. A number of
researchers have done the performance analysis of Ad Hoc Routing protocols over the years using
different simulators like NS2, Qualnet, Opnet etc. From the survey of QoS Models and Protocols of
the IP network such as IntServ, DiffServ, FQMM (Flexible QoS Model for MANET), RSVP etc., it is

Sabotage Your Goal
So many people argue that you need to be realistic when you re setting your goals. With dedication,
persistence, and time, you can accomplish any goal you put your mind to doing so. Anything you
decide you will be able to accomplish the biggest or the small goals you set. No matter how big of one
you will be able to complete the goal. I believe that with dedication, persistence, and time, people can
accomplish any goal that they put their mind into doing.
Many people give up on their goals before they even reach it. Some people like to sabotage
themselves by not finishing the goal they have set. For example, you know ahead of time when you

This first article by Shirley Rosenwasser and Norma Dean shows the underrepresentation of women, it
is shown by two studies made to college students. In Study 1, the masculinity/femininity of
governmental office held positions were analyzed and rated as how feminine or masculine they were.
One hundred thirty three college students were recruited from introductory psychology classes at
Southwest Texas State University (Rosenwasser Dean, 1989). Participants were asked to describe how
distinguished they thought each office was, as well as the rate of importance of each holding office. In
Study 2, thirty nine men and eighty three women were recruited again from the same class
(Rosenwasser Dean, 1989). However, now they were asked to read one of the four descriptions of a
hypothetical candidate, and they had to base their answers on the hypothetical example. After, they
needed to evaluate the candidates to show their level of efficacy. Estimating the chances of someone
winning the election was the next step. And finally, participants rated the importance of each
presidential task. There was a discussion following the studies, Study 1 showed that masculine
descriptors were far more important than feminine descriptors. And Study 2 showing, that although,
women and feminine candidates were rated more competent in feminine tasks as well as men with
masculine tasks, students still rated masculine tasks more

The Economic Problems Of The United States Economy Essay
Introduction Economics is the science which studies human behavior as a relationship between given
ends and scarce means which have alternative uses ( Supplementary sources for college economics,
n.d.). It is all about making choices. The United States economy has experienced many ups and downs
in its journey with decision making and realizing its economic power. In 1865, when the civil war
ended the United States economy experienced extreme development as a result of urbanization and
industrialization. It is apparent that the United States economy boarded a difficult journey to
ultimately achieve the power it has today ( Industrialization, Urbanization, and Immigration, n.d.).
This essay is going to take an in depth look at the seven course objectives which include, the basic
economic problems that face the American Society, how businesses make economic decisions, ways
people invest money to save for the future, how economic policy affects the individual state, nation,
and world, define concepts of macro and microeconomics and how theories relate to current economic
issues, explain the economic theories and how they apply to the global economy, and lastly how they
enhance managerial decision making processes and abilities. The Economic Problems That Face the

A Historical Framework For The Contemporary Racial Of Mexico
With the recent discovery of 1.38 million Afro Mexicans based on a population survey conducted in
2015, two central questions have emerged surrounding the presence of Mexicans with African
ancestry in Mexico (Quartz). First, why were nearly 1.4 million Afro Mexicans not recognized in
Mexico s population census by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography, which began data
collection of Mexican citizens in 1983 (Colorlines)? Secondly, how has their lack of representation at
the national level impacted them geographically?
Throughout this paper, I will answer the aforementioned questions by establishing a historical
framework for the contemporary racial ideologies in Mexico rooted in Spanish colonial legacies. By
providing this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Additionally, I will outline the static nature of Afro Mexican identity through an analysis of the
popular cartoon Memin Penguin. I will explain how this stagnant representation of Mexican blackness
isolates the Costa Chica of Guerrero from other spaces in Mexico. I will conclude by addressing why
this topic is significant to my scholarship as a student and what I hope further scholarly investigation
will uncover.
Before I unpack social racism in Mexico, it is important to distinguish two key points for reading this
paper. First, I use the terms African or Africanness and black or blackness interchangeably to represent
specifically Afro Mexicans in the Costa Chica of Guerrero who identify racially as black. Secondly,
white is used to distinguish White Mexicans while mestizo[s] signifies racially mixed Mexicans with
predominantly Spanish European and Indigenous Amerindian ancestry (Jerry). Mexico s Social
Racism
In order to understand how 1.38 million Afro Mexicans have remained hidden, I must first recount
their origins in Mexico dating back to the Spanish colonial era. During the 16th and 17th century,
100,000 250,000 African slaves were forcibly transported to New Spain to work on the sugarcane
plantations (Githiora). Most arrived at the Veracruz Port in South Central Mexico along the Gulf Coast

Iran s State Run Broadcast Media
Conversely, Iran s state run broadcast media, managed by pro regime loyalists, is a dominant source of
news for Iranians and the only media that hosts presidential debates. Yet, Iran s print media culture
offers a greater spectrum of information and opinions from across the political gamut. The press has
traditionally been considered one of the most important campaign tools for candidates, both reformists
and conservatives, but also as key resources for access to diverse election news, debates and analyses
for Iranian citizens. While the print media generally operated with far greater editorial freedom than
the heavily controlled state broadcaster, Iran s print journalists came under government scrutiny and
monitoring during the 2013 election season. In addition to security forces applying direct pressure in
the forms of arrests, and imprisonment for example on the news organizations to support pro regime
candidates, editors and journalists were also warned by intelligence officials against covering banned
topics, such as Iran s economic troubles, the possibility of international sanctions on Iran s nuclear
program, negotiations with the United States regarding Iraq and unrest among Iran s ethnic minorities.
These restrictions on editorial freedom were not just placed on the reformists though; conservative
news outlets also received these constraints. Many of the websites, blogs and news portals aligned
with Ahmandinejad, and therefore considered conservatives, were

Summary Of Martin Luther King Jr And Malcom X
Civil rights was a much larger issue during the time in which Martin Luther King Jr was alive and he
is one of the most known peaceful protestors. It is easy to forget that at one point African Americans
were not equal as we live in a society where no one really pays attention to skin color anymore.
However, we do not learn enough about the struggles that the negros had to endure in order to get to
where they are today. Back in the day everything was segregated even things like schools, drinking
fountains, and places on public transportation. Even bathrooms were labeled with oppressing words
like Colored Only and Whites Only and no one even thought twice about it. Two main men who had
similar goals to gain basic human rights were Martin Luther King Jr and Malcom X. These men were
similar in their goals, but differ in the ways in which they pursued those goals and it is without a doubt
that Martin Luther King Jr has a better method to obtaining civil rights. The major thing that the two
men had in common was that they disagreed with colored people being denied jobs simply for having
the wrong skin tone. This is important to understand as it is central to both arguments and action that
these two men took. There were certain companies who were big businesses that did not hire
indiviudals of color simply because they were white and probably racist. Being denied a job simply
due to the color of your skin is a heart breaking experience and made people feel less than those who

Essay On Business Model For Amazon
BUSINESS MODEL FOR AMAZON:
Amazon has existed in the ecommerce technology world since their inception. They think like a
technology company and agile innovators, only innovative in everything they do, not just technology.
They are not afraid to try new things and they can get things done quickly, thanks to the culture their
CEO Bezos has instilled. (For more, see our article on Amazon and its business strategy.)
Bezos vision
For years, I ve been fascinated by Jeff Bezos vision. We write a lot about him and Amazon. They are a

Introduction
Ethics in business addresses the right and wrong behaviours of business practises, and how these
practices impact the employees, shareholders, the general public and the environment.
This essay will take a look at two different types of business structures; the capitalist corporation and
the workers cooperative, and review how the differing approach to business and the fundamental
ideologies of each, impacts ethical practises.
To highlight this, I will look at more specifically at capitalist organisation ANZ and cooperative
Mondragon Cooperative Corporation and how they deal with the potential ethical dilemmas of fair
wages for employees and executive remuneration.
Fundamental Ideologies of a Capitalist Corporation
The fundamental ideologies of a capitalist corporation can vary from company to company, but
typically all have the same underlying purpose to make a profit. Often, a business ideologies are
expressed in the form of an organisational vision or mission statement a simple statement
demonstrating to the public, and reminding the employees, the goal of the organisation. These vision
or mission statements usually look at the bigger picture of what an organisation wants to achieve.

Her freezing mode is characterized by sticking to the same position where she said or did something

Winnicott tackles this concept of feeling held in his theories. He argues that the concept of feeling

holding environment... has as its main function the reduction to a minimum of impingements to which
the infant must react with resultant annihilation of personal being (Winnicott, 1960: 47). Furthermore,
Winnicott suggests that the relationship that a child forms with the mother during her pre kindergarten
period results in the child developing a positive internal environment. This positive internal
environment is what makes the child survive when her external environment changes. This is why the
child is able to sense the loss of a mother, when left in the Kindergarten, and develop a relationship
with another person or object that provides her the safety and stability of her

Wade Hatton, (Errol Flynn) in Dodge City, is a much more extroverted hero than Shane, and has
greater plans to reform the town than merely just driving out the criminal element. Hatton s entry to
the film is also much more grand. He is a soldier of fortune transplanted to the American frontier.
(Abel 18). This alone creates the illusion of Hatton being a much more romantic hero and having
greater plans than merely just wanting to build a community. He wishes to clean out the wickedness
and lawlessness that Dodge City has become. To do this, he introduces sweeping reforms that not only
remove the criminal element, but also set a moral tone for the community. This establishes him as a
community leader who is willing to do whatever is necessary to curb the violence and death that has
stricken the town. He even arrests his friend Rusty (Alan Hart) for carrying a gun to prove that no one
is above the law.
People respect Hatton for who he is and what he has done for the community, not necessarily for who
he is as a person. This fact sets him apart from Shane. Hatton s actions are dictated by his own morals

Russell s Theory Of Denoting In The Principles Of Mathematics
2.1.2. Problem with the Theory of Denoting in The Principles of Mathematics:
Russell s theory of denoting as exposed in The Principles of Mathematics considers that whatever can
be mentioned is a thing or a term i.e., an object. Thus, things, whether exist(like, the present queen of
England) or not (like, the golden mountain) have being if it can be used as the logical subject of a
proposition. This view of Russell is closely akin to that of Meinong s. However, there are some points
of disagreement too. Two main theses of Meinong s theory of object ( Über Gegenstandstheorie) are i)
There are objects that do not exist. (T1) ii) Every object that does not exist is yet constituted in some
way or other and thus may be made the subject of a true predication. (T2) This is, in fact, the doctrine
of Aussersen independence of sosein (character) from sein (being). Meinong thinks, even if an object
happens to be unthinkable, it is something having at least the property of being unthinkable. And,
whether or not something exists or has any other kind of being, it is an object i.e., something about
which one is conscious, according to Meinong. Russell s view at the time of The Principles of
Mathematics, resembles Meinong s in that Russell also holds that every object of thought has some
being. In The Principles of Mathematics , Russell says

Starbucks s Marketing Strategy For Starbucks
This particular case starts off by telling the background of Starbucks as it is today. 30 years ago,
Starbucks was a single store in Seattle s Pike Place Market selling premium roasted coffee. They
decided to change their traditional customer experience in the 1980s. When the company s director of
marketing, Howard Schultz, came back from Italy, he felt enchanted with the coffee house experience
of Italy. Mr. Schultz wanted to duplicate this experience in his own coffee stores. The new strategy
consisted of selling their already proven products in a tastefully designed coffee house setting. With
this strategy, Starbucks became one of the best known brands in the country in a decade. There stores
became places for relaxation, reading the newspaper, holding business meetings, or even browsing the
web. Nevertheless, Starbucks wanted to expand their market. Their first target market was Japan. The
company established a joint venture with a local retailer, Sazaby Inc. This joint venture was divided in
half between the two companies. In order to replicate the experience without losing their competitive
advantage, the Starbucks format was then licensed to the venture. To ensure that the Starbucks
experience in Japan was duplicated properly, Starbucks actually transferred some of their employees
to their Japanese operations. Many critics did not feel that Starbucks was capable of duplicating their
experience into foreign countries. However, by the end of 2009, Starbucks had

My Life Of My Family
I come from a place where people are determined. Determined to surpass the difficult times,
determined to make their families proud, determined just to live. Where I m from people could hardly
manage to balance buying food and paying for rent. People walked to school, to the grocery store, and
to work because not everyone could afford to have and maintain a car. Kids grew up with one parent
or none at all. I had both of my parents, a roof over my head, and food on the table. So I was one of
the lucky ones. Except things aren t always as simple as they seem. The people around me weren t the
only ones who faced difficult situations. Growing up the way I did broke me down and built me back
up repeatedly, but because my problems never seemed to compare to others and everyone was
struggling with something in their own way, I learned to keep them to myself.
My family moved to Fitchburg right before I was going to kindergarten. When we first moved here,
we lived in a dangerous neighborhood so my parents wouldn t allow me to associate with the kids on
my street. This resulted in me spending a lot of time alone because I was an only child. My mom had a
job a few towns away and my dad found work in the next town over. They worked opposite shifts so
seeing the two of them together was not a common occurrence. For these reasons, it was incredibly

The Moscow Theatre Hostage Crisis
The coverage of Moscow theatre hostage crisis by the Russian media demonstrated how media
coverage of terrorism can lead to government censorship and manipulation of the media. In the case of
the Moscow theatre crisis, this censorship and manipulation included the shutdown of various
independent media outlets, the creation of legislature that further diminished the possibility for a free
and independent press in Russia, and the outright travel embargoes for journalists. These restrictions,
created during and immediately following the hostage crisis, not only changed the state of the media
in Russia to a dictatorship of the law , but also changed the perception of Russia s control of the press
around the world as well.
The Moscow theatre hostage crisis, also known as the 2002 Nord Ost siege was the takeover of the
Dubrovka Theatre by 40 to 50 Chechens on the evening of the 23rd of October. The attackers were led
by Movsar Barayev, a 23 year old Chechen who claimed allegiance to the Islamist militant separatist
movement in Chechnya, a republic situated in the southernmost part of Eastern Europe. Barayev s and
his followers motivation for the attacks laid in their demands for the withdrawal of Russian forces

850 hostages and ended with the death of at least 170 people, after the Russian Special Forces unit

Analysis Of The Book The Lord Of The Potter Essay
This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: Go down to the potter s house, and there I will
give you my message. So I went down to the potter s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But
the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot,
shaping it as seemed best to him. Then the word of the Lord came to me. He said, Can I not do with
you, Israel, as this potter does? Declares the Lord. Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my
hand, Israel. If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and
destroyed, and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the
disaster I had planned. And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and
planted, and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had
intended to do for it. (Jeremiah 18:1 10). This served as a parable to warn the people of Israel what
their fate would look like if they continued in their old ways.
II. Statement of the Problem
In the Bible God used prophets and parables numerous times to capture the people of Israel s
attention. Likewise, in Jeremiah 18:1 10 God uses both strategies to warn His people of what would
happen if they continue to live in their sinful ways. In many ways the people of Israel refused to stay
solid, and would not let God be able to form them into who they were created to

calm, and uneventful lifestyles will mostly seek to watch horror movies in order to express their
excitement into their live. Sharon Begley has made excellent claims and with sufficient evidence to
explain why people love to watch scary movies and why others do not. Although it seems like she
presented a well thought argument, some horror fans might not agree with her arguments when she

She argues that although audiences crave the feeling of being afraid, they crave being safe while
watching scary movies. It means that they know that they can safely be scared while the event is not
actually real. An article cites multiple studies to prove her point as to why people crave and enjoy
horror films while others do not. She hypothesize that this need for excitement accounts for why this
genre is popular among teenagers and younger generations, since the desire for watching horror
movies predicted to be decreased with

LITERATURE REVIEW
What is brand personality?
As defined by Aaker (1997), brand personality refers to the set of human characteristics associated
with a brand. Aaker assumes that the brands are the same with the human personality or character, and
the brand personality is created when a consumer attached his or her personality like character to a
specific brand. According to Hawkins, et al (2001), brand personality can be considered as what type
of person the brand would be if it were human and what it would do and like .

Brand as a person/symbolic use
As suggested by Aaker (1997), brand personality is created in the perspective of brand as a person. It
has the same concept with Hawkins, Best, and Coney (2001) where they assume that the brand to be a
human and every human has his own personality.

Fannie Flagg s Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop Cafe
In the novel Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, the author Fannie Flagg uses food as a
symbol for friendship and love. The cafe itself, run by Ruth and Idgie, serves as a way for them to
connect to people, be it family, friend, or total stranger through the food that they make and serve with
love (Dvorak 99). Idgie and Ruth allow anyone who s hungry to come into their cafe to eat, even if
they re colored or homeless. They understand that food is for everyone and make a point to share with
those in need. Then there is the infamous bandit Railroad Bill , who gives food away to the poor and
homeless during the Depression, saving hundreds of lives in the process (Perkins 99). Lastly, the
characters Evelyn and Ninny develop a very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If someone is hungry, they can get something to eat at the cafe, and that [is] black and white (Flagg

Cochlear Argument Essay
Furthermore, a mandatory cochlear implant would place restrictions on the Deaf child s free will. For
starters, a forced cochlear implant would be seen disrespectful to the family s ability to make their
own decisions. As such, one of the major factors of the cochlear implant is the decision making
process that accompanies it; this concept is necessary in order for a family to conclude on whether or
not they wish their child to have a cochlear implant. Studies show that many aspects of the decision
making process are influenced by outside sources such as extensive research from professionals and
media portrayals of cochlear implants; they influence the parents, who are directly involved in the
decision making process, to be keenly aware of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since a forced cochlear implant would introduce the child into the hearing culture, this decision would
limit the child s opportunity to explore and learn more about the Deaf culture. One such example
demonstrates this by showcasing a video containing an interview with the hearing parents of a deaf
girl who has a cochlear implant; in this video, the parents stated that the reason why they chose to
have their daughter receive the cochlear implant, who was at the age of three and a half, was because
the child was struggling with her deafness and that the cochlear implant was the only solution that
would fix the issue ( Cochlear Implants A Cultural Threat , n.d.). The main issue here was that the
parents believed that the only way their daughter would have a happy life was to use the cochlear
implant; there was little consideration given to alternative methods, primarily because she was at a
young age. If a forced cochlear implant were to be given to all Deaf children early on in their lives,
they would be given no choice but to accept the hearing culture; although they could have functioned
well in the Deaf culture, the culture that they were born in, the mandatory cochlear implant forces
them into a culture that opposes their

Youth Sports and Character Development
Introduction
Character development is not something that can be gained or developed over night. Character
development is the multiple life skills that an individual builds within themself throughout their
lifespan. When a person develops good character in their early years of life, they will benefit in the
long run because they used the life skills they gained and put them to use, becoming a successful
individual in all aspects of life. There is one thing for certain in this world, everyone wants to
accomplish something in life and we want to recognize our full potential. In order to do this we must
have some skills, and in this case it s life skills. Life skills are a range of characteristics we ... Show

Ethical decision making skills are important in our everyday lives because we are constantly making
decisions on something, whether it s deciding on what you will do on a day to day basis or if it s
dealing with a situation that must be resolved. Having the ability to affectively make the best decision
possible for any situation by gaining ethical decision skills and putting them to use are essential for
everyone. When a person is involved with sports, they are constantly learning and practicing ethical
decision making skills because there are always decisions that must be made. Whether the situation is
between two teammates or dealing with calls in game situations, there are always decisions being
made. Being a participant in sports, an individual obtains personal and social values and behaviors.
This is where an individual builds close relationships through the experience of being apart of a team.
Within the building of close relationships in sports, a person learns how to work effectively in group
settings. Individuals gain and learn the importance of handling different situations and viewing them
in a strategic way when resolving a conflict.
Other features of an individual having good character are honesty, integrity and ethical behavior.
These characteristics are brought about through being a participant of a sport because when an athlete
recognizes they are in the wrong during game play, they develop the importance of honesty. (i.e. In

The Importance Of Romantic Literature
In conclusion of her famous Letter to the Women of England, on the Injustice of Mental Subordination
(1799), Mary Robinson listed in alphabetical order the names of over forty contemporary women
writers who by the prevalent injustice and literary subordination were not or only partially recognized
for their contributions to the British literary community of the romanticism era. The list contained the
names of well known and relatively obscure women writers, poets, novelists, essayists and dramatists,
including the likes of well known Mary Wollstonecraft, Ann Radcliffe, and the relatively unknown
author of Biography, letters, c. Mrs. Thickness . In her closing assertion, she stated that there are men
who affect, to think lightly of the literary productions of women: and yet no works of the present day
are so universally read as theirs . This assertion resonates with Stephen C. Brehrendt s position on the
fate and honor accorded to women writers, novelists, essayists, dramatists and particularly poets of the
romanticism era, and the need to rewrite and remap the concept of influence, and the structuralism
literary and cultural theory that tends to want to place women at the periphery of romantic poetry
rather than the center where they truly belong in his article the New Romanticism for Old: Displacing
Our Expectations and Our Models . In his article, he opined like Mary Robinson, that the activities
and literary works of British women authors were as influential as

basic level of playing.
Similarly, Kerri was the most distractible while playing with the farm pop up toy; she was distracted
by noise and movement of people, but did come back to concentrate on the toy. She was also
distracted from playing with the baby doll and bottle when a cup was placed in front of her. Once the
cup was presented, Kerri moved on and did not come back to play with the baby doll. Additionally,
she was briefly distracted by a noise when playing with the ring stack, but attention was brought back
to the toy after a few seconds.
Schemas
Kerri showed a low level schema while shaking and tapping the hair brush. However, a complex
schema was shown when she brushed the baby doll s hair, stacked and rotated the cups, and slide the

Mrs. Drover The Demon Lover
A person s character will affect their final decision. The decision of a shy person will depend on others
because of them letting others disdain them. Mrs. Drover in The Demon Lover had a personality that
did not include a defensive side. The character of Mrs. Drover was incapable of standing up for herself
and let her demon lover make her decisions for her.
Mrs. Drover s decision process to defend herself would have changed the whole story. She held back
her remarks and instead thought, That cut of the button on the palm of her hand was, principally, what
she was to carry away. This was so near the end of a leave from France that she could only wish him
already gone (Bowen 3). Mrs. Drover s character does not know how to defend herself, so she hopes
and waits for a better outcome. The story portrays her to being scared or frightened by her fiancé, yet
she never does anything about it. Knowing that her companion might die she says, But that was

character s weakness moves the story closer to the presumed kidnapping. Instead of Mrs. Drover being

fiancé departed to war, she did not have to flee: he fled for her. However, when suspicion for another

However, the likelihood that tyrosinase is evenly distributed throughout the mushroom is very slim. In order to determine which specific tissues contained the greatest concentration of Tyrosinase it became necessary to investigate the localization of within the white button mushroom. In order to observe the presence of tyrosinase within the various sections Agaricus bisporus it was necessary to separate samples into specified regions. This trend can be rationalized when considering the placement of these sections on the mushroom (Figure 1). C2 is the outer most part of the mushroom s cap so it receives a greater amount of exposure compared to other sections like S2. Exposure is crucial in the functions of tyrosinase because tyrosinase needs to be in the presence of molecular oxygen to undergo its reactions. However, one discrepancy that arises from this theory is the specific activity of the skin (K1). The skin is the most exposed portion so one would expect it to have the greatest specific activity. While it does have a relatively high specific activity value it is easily overshadowed by the specific activity of C2. This raises the question of whether the data collected for the latent C2 samples is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Parabola Y X2 Change The shape of the basis parabola y=x2 changes for different forms of the parabolic function causing it to translate, reflect or dilate. Dilation (widening or narrowing) of the parabola occurs when the basis parabola y=x2 is multiplied or divided (m) therefore changing the equation to either y=mx2 or y=x^2/m. For instance, if the parabola is multiplied by two the parabola becomes narrower whereas if the parabola is divided by two the parabola becomes wider. This is evident in the graph in question 1b as when the basis parabola is multiplied by fourteen the parabola becomes narrower however when the basis parabola is divided by fourteen it becomes wider. Reflection of the parabola occurs when the basis parabola y=x2 is changed to y= x2. For example, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Vertical (upwards or downwards) translation of the parabola occurs when the basis parabola y=x2, y value of each point is increased or decreased therefore changing the equation to either to y=x2+h or y=x2 h. For instance, in order to translate the parabola upwards by 5 units it shifts the general point (a, a2) to (a, a2+5) therefore making the equation, y= x2+5. The vertex of this parabola is now (0,5) but it still has the same axis of symmetry. Likewise, when the basis parabola becomes y=x2 5 the parabola is translated 5 units down with the vertex (0, 5). This can be seen through the graph in question 1a as the parabolas are vertically translated upwards or downwards by using the addition or subtraction of fourteen. Conversely, horizontal translation of the parabola occurs when the translation parabola equation y=x2±h is changed to y=(x±h)2. Therefore, the horizontal translation for the parabola is changed by the value of the variable h, that is subtracted from x before the squaring operation. For example, in order to translate the parabola to the left by 4 units it shifts the general point (a, a2) to (a, (a+2)2) therefore making the equation, y= (x+2)2. The vertex of this parabola is now (0,4). Likewise, when the basis parabola becomes y=(x 2)2 the parabola is translated 2 units to the right with the vertex (0, 4). A Look At The Sound Of Music A Look at the Sound of Music As a college student, I have seen innumerable people walking by with their headphones in, using music to block out the rest of the world. With the convenience of an iPhone or other smart phone, listening to music has become so casual. With the press of a button, voila! Miley Cyrus is at the tips of your fingertips. It s become so normalized that these same people seldom think about the science behind that noise in your ear. A disturbance in space results in a periodic wave which propagates through that space, usually transferring energy ( Introduction to Waves ). This transfer of energy can be explained by the conservation of momentum and energy in collisions. Momentum is never lost; kinetic energy may be lost. If kinetic energy is conserved, the collision was elastic; if the kinetic energy was transferred, the collision was inelastic. Momentum is a vector, defined as p=mv, where momentum equals mass times the velocity at which the mass travels. The rate of change of momentum is that mass s net force, defined as ∑▒〖F=∆p/ ∆t〗, where force is equal to change in momentum over a given time interval ( Lecture 12: Momentum ). Mechanical energy is equal to the sum of kinetic (KE) and potential energy (PE), derived from the law of conservation of energy, which states that the total energy of a closed system is conserved (Tuckerman). Potential energy is energy that is associated with some force, and is thus dependent on its initial position. Potential ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Spinning and weaving were necessary skills women needed to learn in order to provide clothing and other woven materials for their families (Reeder, 1995, 200). The different facets of weaving are highlighted by examining ancient primary sources. The act of weaving became so ingrained with female domesticity that it evolved into a symbolic ideal. The wefts goes over and under the warp threads forming a plain weave (Barber, 1994, 39). This is a tedious process which can be sped up by using a shed rod (15:08). The shed rod is a stick that is connected to the warp weighted loom and is placed in between the front and rear warp threads (19:57). A space then forms between the front and rear warp threads called a shed (15:20). In the shed a shuttle, which is a tool that holds the weft, can be inserted through the warp (15:30). To pass the weft back in the opposite direction the weaver uses a heddle rod (15:38). Heddles are looped strings linked to the rear warp threads and the heddle rod itself (15:38). The Court concluded that it was in violation of the Fourteenth Amendment to keep individuals separate based on the color of their skin. The decision in Brown was one of extreme importance and significance that could have represented a new start in the Supreme Court regarding civil rights cases. However, that was not the case, after Brown II the Supreme Court refused to hear a case that was on appeal: Naim v. Naim, Mr. Naim and Mrs. Naim one were white and the other was Chinese. The two individuals were residents of Virginia, where it was illegal for a white person to marry a person who was not white. The couple traveled to North Carolina to get married. Mr. Naim appealed to the Supreme Court and as the court was breaking down the segregation system they chose not to hear the case. Naim v. Iran s State Run Broadcast Media Conversely, Iran s state run broadcast media, managed by pro regime loyalists, is a dominant source of news for Iranians and the only media that hosts presidential debates. Yet, Iran s print media culture offers a greater spectrum of information and opinions from across the political gamut. The press has traditionally been considered one of the most important campaign tools for candidates, both reformists and conservatives, but also as key resources for access to diverse election news, debates and analyses for Iranian citizens. While the print media generally operated with far greater editorial freedom than the heavily controlled state broadcaster, Iran s print journalists came under government scrutiny and monitoring during the 2013 election season. In addition to security forces applying direct pressure in the forms of arrests, and imprisonment for example on the news organizations to support pro regime candidates, editors and journalists were also warned by intelligence officials against covering banned topics, such as Iran s economic troubles, the possibility of international sanctions on Iran s nuclear program, negotiations with the United States regarding Iraq and unrest among Iran s ethnic minorities. These restrictions on editorial freedom were not just placed on the reformists though; conservative news outlets also received these constraints. Summary Of Martin Luther King Jr And Malcom X Civil rights was a much larger issue during the time in which Martin Luther King Jr was alive and he is one of the most known peaceful protestors. It is easy to forget that at one point African Americans were not equal as we live in a society where no one really pays attention to skin color anymore. However, we do not learn enough about the struggles that the negros had to endure in order to get to where they are today. Back in the day everything was segregated even things like schools, drinking fountains, and places on public transportation. Even bathrooms were labeled with oppressing words like Colored Only and Whites Only and no one even thought twice about it. Two main men who had similar goals to gain basic human rights were Martin Luther King Jr and Malcom X. These men were similar in their goals, but differ in the ways in which they pursued those goals and it is without a doubt that Martin Luther King Jr has a better method to obtaining civil rights. The major thing that the two men had in common was that they disagreed with colored people being denied jobs simply for having the wrong skin tone. This is important to understand as it is central to both arguments and action that these two men took. There were certain companies who were big businesses that did not hire indiviudals of color simply because they were white and probably racist. Being denied a job simply due to the color of your skin is a heart breaking experience and made people feel less than those who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Problem with the Theory of Denoting in The Principles of Mathematics: Russell s theory of denoting as exposed in The Principles of Mathematics considers that whatever can be mentioned is a thing or a term i.e., an object. Thus, things, whether exist(like, the present queen of England) or not (like, the golden mountain) have being if it can be used as the logical subject of a proposition. This view of Russell is closely akin to that of Meinong s. However, there are some points of disagreement too. Two main theses of Meinong s theory of object ( Über Gegenstandstheorie) are i) There are objects that do not exist. (T1) ii) Every object that does not exist is yet constituted in some way or other and thus may be made the subject of a true predication. (T2) This is, in fact, the doctrine of Aussersen independence of sosein (character) from sein (being). Meinong thinks, even if an object happens to be unthinkable, it is something having at least the property of being unthinkable. And, whether or not something exists or has any other kind of being, it is an object i.e., something about which one is conscious, according to Meinong. Russell s view at the time of The Principles of Mathematics, resembles Meinong s in that Russell also holds that every object of thought has some being. Starbucks s Marketing Strategy For Starbucks This particular case starts off by telling the background of Starbucks as it is today. 30 years ago, Starbucks was a single store in Seattle s Pike Place Market selling premium roasted coffee. When the company s director of marketing, Howard Schultz, came back from Italy, he felt enchanted with the coffee house experience of Italy. With this strategy, Starbucks became one of the best known brands in the country in a decade. There stores became places for relaxation, reading the newspaper, holding business meetings, or even browsing the web. Nevertheless, Starbucks wanted to expand their market. Their first target market was Japan. The company established a joint venture with a local retailer, Sazaby Inc. This joint venture was divided in half between the two companies. In order to replicate the experience without losing their competitive advantage, the Starbucks format was then licensed to the venture. • 44. Cochlear Argument Essay Furthermore, a mandatory cochlear implant would place restrictions on the Deaf child s free will. For starters, a forced cochlear implant would be seen disrespectful to the family s ability to make their own decisions. As such, one of the major factors of the cochlear implant is the decision making process that accompanies it; this concept is necessary in order for a family to conclude on whether or not they wish their child to have a cochlear implant. Studies show that many aspects of the decision making process are influenced by outside sources such as extensive research from professionals and media portrayals of cochlear implants; they influence the parents, who are directly involved in the decision making process, to be keenly aware of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since a forced cochlear implant would introduce the child into the hearing culture, this decision would limit the child s opportunity to explore and learn more about the Deaf culture. One such example demonstrates this by showcasing a video containing an interview with the hearing parents of a deaf girl who has a cochlear implant; in this video, the parents stated that the reason why they chose to have their daughter receive the cochlear implant, who was at the age of three and a half, was because the child was struggling with her deafness and that the cochlear implant was the only solution that would fix the issue ( Cochlear Implants A Cultural Threat , n.d.). The main issue here was that the parents believed that the only way their daughter would have a happy life was to use the cochlear implant; there was little consideration given to alternative methods, primarily because she was at a young age. If a forced cochlear implant were to be given to all Deaf children early on in their lives, they would be given no choice but to accept the hearing culture; although they could have functioned well in the Deaf culture, the culture that they were born in, the mandatory cochlear implant forces them into a culture that opposes their ... The Importance Of Romantic Literature In conclusion of her famous Letter to the Women of England, on the Injustice of Mental Subordination (1799), Mary Robinson listed in alphabetical order the names of over forty contemporary women writers who by the prevalent injustice and literary subordination were not or only partially recognized for their contributions to the British literary community of the romanticism era. The list contained the names of well known and relatively obscure women writers, poets, novelists, essayists and dramatists, including the likes of well known Mary Wollstonecraft, Ann Radcliffe, and the relatively unknown author of Biography, letters, c. In her closing assertion, she stated that there are men who affect, to think lightly of the literary productions of women: and yet no works of the present day are so universally read as theirs . This assertion resonates with Stephen C. Brehrendt s position on the fate and honor accorded to women writers, novelists, essayists, dramatists and particularly poets of the romanticism era, and the need to rewrite and remap the concept of influence, and the structuralism literary and cultural theory that tends to want to place women at the periphery of romantic poetry rather than the center where they truly belong in his article the New Romanticism for Old: Displacing Our Expectations and Our Models .
