Ander to Remorse in the Excerpt, Learning to Read by...
Every author has a different writing style in comparison. They convey their messages in multiple
ways; using different tones to evoke certain moods on their readers. Some authors use a few
different ways to catch their audiences attention; persuading them using logic, ethics and emotion.
In the excerpt Learning to Read by Malcolm X, he uses logic and emotion to persuade his
audience. By using anger to evoke remorse in his readers. Malcolm X references historical events
to convey his message. Malcolm X has a vast audience in this writing. He did not write for one
particular person or group. Malcolm X wants to inform and persuade an individual who is not
aware of what he has discovered. He wanted others to know of the information he discovered of
the horror the slaves endured. Books like the one by Frederick Olmstead opened my eyes to the
horrors suffered when the slave was landed in the United States. (Malcolm X). He not only had
proof to share but had multiple references to provide clarity and proof. Malcolm X wrote his
piece by starting in the present, then going back ad forth between the past and present. Doing so
made this piece easy to follow and comprehend. He uses examples from the past to show clarity
in the present. Malcolm X uses an abundance of strong and descriptive words and phrases. He
used the following words to convey his message in a stronger stance: skin game, shameful and
inevitable. The American black man is the worlds most shameful case of

Short term responses
One short term response when playing basketball is when your face starts to go red, this happens
because the body gets too hot and it tries to cool the body down by bringing blood to the surface
of the skin to let some heat out and the skin also produces sweat to let out heat, therefore the skin
surface goes red. Another short term response to physical activity is that your breathing rate and
heart rate increases, the reason this occurs is because the muscles are being made to work harder
and as a result of that the muscles need more oxygen so therefore you need to breathe in more
oxygen and breathe out more carbon dioxide to keep the muscles going. Another short ... Show

The increase in oxidative capacity is achieved by an increase in the number of mitochondria (An
organelle found in large numbers in most cells, in which the biochemical processes of respiration
and energy production occur.) within the muscle cells, an increase in the supply of ATP and an
increase in the quantity of enzymes involved in respiration. Another long term change that occurs
due to training is that the heart gets larger; the result in the change is due to increased stress on the
heart. The extra work of pumping blood against the increased pressure causes the heart wall to
thicken over time, the same way a body muscle increases in mass in response to weightlifting. A
long term change in the cardiovascular system as a result of training is that the resting heart rate
gets lower, the cardiovascular response happens because a person that has been training for a
long time has a lower heart rate because through exercise, they have a stronger heart; meaning
that an athlete s heart can pump more blood and more oxygen out with one pump than a non
athlete s heart could. Another long term response in the cardiovascular system is that the blood
supply increases, this change is due to your body needing more oxygen because you are
exercising, your muscles and all your body organs are needing more energy and oxygen, this is
because your body is working more than usual. Your body needs to do many things such as sweat,
which helps you cool down, and to

Ethics And Purpose Of Corporate Governance

meaning belief , customs , habits , the concept of ethics determines good and/or bad practices
and essentially refers to a code of conduct or a set of moral principles and standards governing a
group or an individual s behaviour and/or activity. It can be defined as: a social, religious, or
civil code of behaviour considered correct, especially that of a particular group, profession, or

What is corporate strategy? Corporate strategy is a complete plan of action encompassing all the
activities and functions performed by business firms. The plan covers all the objectives of the
company related to the allocation of resources and coordination among different levels. Corporate
Strategy as a framework began to be developed in the 60 s and the 70 s where for the first time
companies had to think in a systematic and integrated way about their costs, competitors and their
customers. In the mid 80 s and beginning of 90 s, corporate strategy started to focus on process
engineering, re engineering, thinking more systematically about world wide expansion and
therefore globalisation but at the same time it also focused on a more granular aspect and migrated
down to the industry by industry. Nowadays, corporate strategy is about participating in different
business units and is defined as a process of diversification across structurally different industries. It
is about participating in multiple businesses grouped under a corporate parent and creating common

Joyce Carol Oates Is An American Writer Who Writes Poetry,
Joyce Carol Oates is an American writer who writes poetry, short stories, novels, and nonfiction.
She published one of her short stories called: Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? in
1993. In this particular story, Oates writes about a young teenage girl, who in my perspective
the fifteen year old girl liked getting the attention from everyone, especially from boys. Her
name was Connie; the young girl who lived in her own little world dozing off most of the time,
and always standing out in the crowd. In the beginning of the story, the narrator described Connie
closing her eyes, daydreaming, and zoning out after seeing her family drive off to a barbecue. In

Connie saw her family drive off to the barbecue she sat down on the porch and closed her eyes,

Summary Of Three Girls By Oates
It was like a child s game in which you stare at foliage, grass, clouds in the sky, and suddenly you
see a face or a figure, and after that recognition you can t not see the hidden shape, its staring you
in the face. (Oates, 95)
Oates Three Girls tells the story of two girl poets in the Strand Bookstore in Manhattan on a snowy
day in March of 1956. They wander through the aisles of poetry, with commentary about various
poets and collections of poetries and how they reflected on the girl poets . We were girl poets
passionately enamored of T.S. Eliot but scornful of Robert Frost, whom we d been made to
memorize in high school Slyly we communicated in code phrases from Eliot in the presence of
obtuse others in our dining hall and residence. (Oates, 92) Suddenly she is pulled from her
thoughts, as her friend touches her wrist and guides her further into the store to stumble upon
Marilyn Monroe. From here, the girl poets follow her discretely, with a commentary of how
Monroe s discretion was so much different form how she was normally seen. She was, at that
moment, not a garnish blond showgirl , but rather this woman was an individual wholly absorbed
in selecting, leafing through, pausing to read books (Oates, 93) They continue to follow her until
she reaches the storefront, where they volunteer to pay for her books to keep the secret of her
being here. From there they return her books to her outside, with her gifting them the Selected
Poems of Marianne Moore before departing. The story closes with the two girl poets sharing their
first kiss.
The chosen quote, ( It was like a child s game in which you stare at foliage, grass, clouds in the sky,
and suddenly you see a face or a figure, and after that recognition you can t not see the hidden
shape, its staring you in the face. (Oates, 95)) plays not only to the main plot of the story (the girl
poets discovering Marilyn Monroe in the Strand Bookstore), but also to the subplot (the girl poets
sharing their first kiss and becoming lovers) as well. It applies to the main plot very clearly
through two sides: that though by this point in the story only the girl poets have discovered it is
Monroe, the realization that others could at moment s

Who Is Victor Frankenstein A Villain
In Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, it is hard to differentiate who is the hero and who is the villain. In
countless stories, it is almost automatically quite easy to distinguish the characteristics between the
hero and the villain. This is not the case in Mary Shelly s novel Frankenstein. In the novel, we meet
Victor Frankensteinand his science experiment gone rogue, the Creature. At first glance into the
novel, many people would debate that the Creature is, in fact, the villain because he had
maliciously murdered Victor Frankenstein s family and closest friends. Of course anyone with a
properly functioning brain would say that the Creature is the bad guy but what some people do not
take into consideration is the Creature s background,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Despite being gifted with excelling academically, he believes that his beliefs are
indistinguishable to the rules of the world that he must follow. When Victor was young he had
always been curious about life and death, as he got older, his curiosity turned into an obsession.
A new species would bless me as its creator and source; many happy and excellent natures would
owe their being to me. No father could claim the gratitude of his child so completely as I should
deserve theirs (Shelly 4.8). Frankenstein becomes obsessed with science because it helped him
cope with the death of his mother, Caroline, and it is also his breaking point. His emotions
mistakenly lead him to believe that he can have control over the destinies of people s lives if only
he knew how. This is where his obsession develops. Nor could I consider the magnitude and
complexity of my plan as any argument of its impracticability. It was with these feelings that I
began the creation of a human being. (Shelly 4.7). Frankenstein does not take into consideration
about the consequences he may face before he creates the Creature. When Frankenstein beings to
understand the factors to what makes life possible, he uses science in trying to become God and
tries to control these factors. Who shall conceive the horrors of my secret toil, as I dabbled among
the unhallowed damps of the grave, or tortured the living animal, to animate the lifeless clay?

Assignment 1 Computer Systems
Processor (CPU) The Central processing unit (CPU) is where all the calculations take place within
the computer system. The CPU connects directly to a socket on the motherboard. The processor is
responsible for carrying out instructions (programs), it can take inputs from input devices such as a
keyboard or mouse, and then use this to create an output to be displayed on a monitor or for printing.
Motherboard The motherboard contains the basic circuitry, and many of the components connect to
it. The motherboard is responsible of allocating the power, supplied by the PSU, to the other
components connected to the board. It also allows the different components within the computer
system to communicate to each other and send information around. The motherboard also houses
all of the ports that go on the back panel of the pc.
Power Supply The power supply, or Power Supply Unit (PSU), is the component that supplies
power to the components of the computer system. It does this by converting the AC current from
the mains socket do DC current. The power supply is also capable of regulating the voltage that
the computer system receives this helps to avoid any abnormal spikes of high voltage that could
damage, or destroy components of the computer. PSU s are rated by the number of watts that they
generate.
Cooling (E.g. Fan, Heatsink) The purpose of any cooling device is to draw the heat away from the
components within a computer system

Reflection Paper On Substance Abuse
On October 3rd, I attended a meeting that completely opened my eyes on the issue of substance
abuse. The meeting I attended was an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. When thinking about what
sort of recovery event I wanted to experience for this experimental activity the first thing that came
to mind was Alcoholics Anonymous. I have heard of AA but never had an expanded understanding
of the program. The first thingI did was google Alcoholics Anonymous University of Iowa and the
rest was a breeze. The first link that appeared was a University of Iowa Hospitals Clinics page that
listed open AA meetings. So as stated earlier, on Tuesday, October 3rd from 12 pm to 1 pm in
Room 5024 Boyd Tower, I gained a whole new outlook on substance abuse. As soon as I walked
into the meeting I was a slightly intimidated at first. The room was small, about the size of a
classroom, and had a conference table full of people of all ages and different genders. Since I
was just observing I decided to sit at a separate table and take notes on the activities that went on
during the meeting. There were about 10 participants taking part in the meeting from ages that
ranged from 30 s to 70 s. There was plenty of diversity in the group of individuals based on
personalities also, but not much diversity in ethnicities as all of the members of this meeting were
white. Once the meeting went underway, I knew I was in for something very interesting. The
meeting began with a moment of silence and preamble.

Cronulla Beach Research Assignment
Cronulla Beach is a popular tourist attraction and attracts many beachgoers from all over Sydney. It
is located on a southern Sydney peninsular, surrounded by Botany Bay to the north, Bate Bay to the
east, Port Hacking to the south, and Gunnamatta Bay to the west. On the 14th of March 2011, year

We investigated three main things and they were: * What impacts local residents and businesses

Because of the cost involved, beach nourishment is only used where other strategies prove to be

area of excess to where it is being eroded. This often involves dredging and transport of sand by
truck or through pipeline. Because of the cost involved, beach nourishment is only used where
other strategies prove to be ineffective. 1. What impacts have local residents and businesses had
on Cronulla Beach? The real impact regarding local residents and businesses on Cronulla beach
is their influence on the government as well as their input and suggestions on points of
improvement for the Beach. After all, these are the people that are going to be affected the most
from any changes occurring. For example the sea wall at Cronulla Beach is not the most
attractive thing, yes it is highly beneficial but the local residents and businesses that have to look
at it all the time, may not be as pleased as the government is with the idea. It also needs to be
taken into consideration that future development doesn t impact on their property value, access
to the beach or coastal views. 2. How are people using Cronulla Beach? On the first page of my

The Big Short And Twilight Of The Elites
The Big Short and Twilight of the Elites were intriguing stories. It opened my eyes to see different
views about American Institutions. Specifically, the failures that occurred throughout the film and
the book. In The Big Short it showed how the recession effected all levels of the system and not just
the middle class, which is the majority of America. Throughout Twilight of the Elites it discusses
the failures within a variety of institutions.
The Big Short is a movie that discusses the housing market crash in 2008. As you may know, the
banks, the mortgage brokers, and the consumers were all affected by this collapse. On each level
of the system, there were things that went wrong and that could have been changed or could
have prevented the failure of the housing market. Before the 1970 s banking was not a business
that you went into to make money and it remained that way until Louis Ranieri came around.
Louis Ranieri had one idea that changed the housing market forever. His plan was to have a
mortgage back security. Mortgage back securities are an asset based security backed by a
mortgage. For example, if you use your mortgage to start a business, your business is backed by
that mortgage. The average mortgage loan has a fixed rate loan and takes thirty years to pay off,
however, when bundling them all together it s an opportunity to make greater profits. Mr. Ranieri
believed these would still be less risky because people are more likely to pay their mortgages off.

Cause And Effects Of Migraine
Migraine
Migraine is extreme head pain whereby one also experiences other phenomena such as intolerance
to light, one may be disturbed by sound and also distressed by smell. Migraine is debilitating to
many, with sufferers experiencing some or all of the following: nausea, vomiting, eye pain, blurred
vision, intensely intolerable throbbing pain (usually on one side of the head which may come and
go in waves), sensitivity to light and sounds, smell and touch, and migraine may last up to three
days1. Statistically, women suffer migraines more commonly and often then men, by an
approximate 3:1 ratio.
Many sufferers mention they know when a migraine will come on (they experience an aura). Aura
or warning symptoms may occur before onset or during migraine, which may include blind spots,
flashes of light or bright spots, tingling or numbness (facial, arm or leg).
Causes of Migraine
Migraine may be caused by a number of triggering2 factors, some being:
Hormone changes (women especially experiencing estrogen fluctuations, which happen with the
monthly cycle, and which may also happen even during pregnancy or menopause).
Brain chemical imbalances. Serotonin, which helps regulate pain in the nervous system, is one
such chemical under study by researchers for it s role in migraine.
Foods, some of which may be red wine, very old cheeses, chocolate, caffeine, soy, dairy, food
additives, monosodium glutamate, salty, pickled/fermented and processed foods.
Stress and anxiety.

Piaget Vs Vygotsky
From the beginning of time and still to present day, people have always been curious as to how we
develop from little tiny helpless humans into the fully functioning members of society. Two
psychologists, Piaget and Vygotsky, developed different theories about cognitive and language
development. Piaget s theory says that children try to understand the world around them in
different phases as they grow. As children, they want to make sense of everything that is going on
around them. Piaget says that there are four stages of cognitive development that we go through as
we age; sensory motor period, pre operational period, concrete operational period, and finally the
formal operational theory. According to Piaget, we should be through all of these... Show more

The first one being that his research was biased. He only used a very small sample of children to
complete the study, and he also used his own kids in his experiments (Cherry, 2017). Piaget also
did not take into account what children are capable of. He often asked the children too difficult
of questions and/or made them very confusing for children to understand. Piaget also did not
realize that many people never reach the final stage (formal operational period), he stated that we
should all reach that stage between age 11 and adulthood (Kail, 2016). He also thought that the
social environment and culture that someone is raised in did not affect the cognitive and language
development of a child, this is a big weakness since he did not explore all options for why we
develop the way we do. Piaget was also flawed in thinking that language comes after thought, when
most other psychologists think development is a combination of both. Piaget said that developing
thought was more important than developing language, which caused his findings to be skewed
and biased (McLeod,

Social Media Should Be Regulated Essay
SOCIAL MEDIA SHOULD BE REGULATED ABSTRACT As social media becomes a heavy
influence in our online presence, certain elements need to be policed, as laws can still be
broken. This is an insight into if social media, more specifically social networking sites, can be
regulated to avoid recent spates of trolling or whether it only serves to strip people of freedom to
speech. INTRODUCTION Social media has now become a part of our modern day society and
has a huge impact on our lives on a daily basis. Social media is the use of web and mobile based
technology to support interactive content. This content tends to be user generated and then might
be promoted by other users to a new outlet or audience. Social Networking is a great... Show more

However other social media platforms such as Formspring and Twitter allow users to remain
anonymous, bar the IP addresses stored on their servers. This allows users to hid behind their
computers and say things that would be considered inappropriate and possibly illegal on a public
stage, in the real world. Trolling has taken on many forms in social media and with so many
platforms to choose from, anyone with intent can use this to their advantage. Twitter accounts have
been used to make threats and harass celebrities, Joe McElderry being one of many victims. Ennis
McBride, with the sole intent of stalking Joe, made an anonymous twitter account to continue his
harassment. [5] As technology has advanced, laws have been introduced to protect society, for
instance the interception and disclosure of messages as part of the wireless telegraphy act 2006,
section 48[6]. So why would you not regulate social media, a new technology phenomena with the
potential to cause harm? We could agree that social media should be regulated to avoid trolling
incidents like the ones mentioned. However, the Leveson report, a hotly debated topic at present,
is trying to introduce regulations on the press, with no guidelines on how to deal with social media.
Daily Mail online editor Martin Clarke says it has destroyed the ability of governments, companies

Black Males Able To Vote Essay
Ever since the first African Americans came to Jamestown in 1619, getting along has never
been easy. Even though there was 200 years of slavery until the prevail of the civil war and the
abolition of slavery, most people forget that some African Americans were free during that time,
but how free were they? Free African Americans in the Northern states were free, but had no
rights based on the voting chart, Charles Mackay s excerpt, and Charles Andrews excerpt. Out of
the three regions in the North, black males could only vote in one of them. Mackay recognizes
their freedom , but denies African Americans of their rights. Finally, Andrews who was the top
of his class explains how there s no place for his talent. Free African Americans may have had
freedom, but not the freedom that white males had, and certainly not the rights they needed to
fully function in society. In the voting chart, it shows if black males could vote or do jury duty
in each state in the North in 1860. The data it shows says that in the Mid Atlantic and Midwest,
most black males were either not permitted or were restricted to vote. Only in New England
could black male suffrage have any chance, even if it s only a little. Even when being free, black
males could only vote in five states, and do jury duty in one. They might have been free, but most...

Performance Enhancing Drugs Should Be Banned
Introduction The dream of being a major athlete forms in early childhood while watching a
favorite athlete succeeding at any given sport. Once a child sees a professional athlete succeeding
and being famous that child believes accomplishing this goal will be easy to accomplish.
However, becoming a famous athlete is not as easy as it looks. In fact, many athletes whether at
professional, college, or even high school levels will stop at nothing to achieve the most success
and gain the most popularity. Moreover, a hundreds of thousands of athletes break the rules by
using performance enhancing drugs each year. Performance enhancing drugs help athletes to

Moreover, the Ancient Greeks who acted with these substances were punished by becoming a
slave if found guilty of using substances to improve performance. Modern Day Doping More in
present day, doping is still used to a great extent. However, we have much stronger substances
that are commonly abused. These substances consist of deadly steroids by the use of injections
or pills. Claudia Reardon and Shane Creado (2014) explain, In 1998, police found a large
number of prohibited substances, including ampoules of erythropoietin, in a raid during the Tour
de France (History of Doping in Athletes, para. 10). In today s generation, law enforcement
officers are taking action and busting individuals that have or are taking performance enhancing
drugs. One of the most recent cases of drug busts involved gold medal olympian Usain Bolt.
According to the CNN Library (2017), The IOC [International Olympic Committee] rules that
Usain Bolt s 2008 gold medal in the 4x100m relay no longer counts after one of his teammates
tests positive for methylhexaneamine, a banned substance (PEDSFF, para. 47). Just one slip up of
a team member can strip all the fame from an individual. Over the past few decades, several
organizations have been formed to prevent substance abuse in athletes. One of the many
organizations that have been created to crack down and bust people that abuse substances for
performance enhancement include the World Anti Doping Agency abbreviated as WADA. The

Examining Four Types of Diversity Essay examples
While diversity is often a term used to refer specifically to cultural differences, diversity applies to
all the qualities that make people different. From a management perspective, the key to diversity is
to understand how different types of diversity and different demographic characteristics can impact
human behavior. The four types of diversity that will be examined are: occupation, differences in
skills and abilities, personality traits, and value and attitudes. For each type of diversity, the impact
on individualbehavior will be described.
One type of diversity is occupation. For example, an individual in a professional occupation is
more likely to make his or her own decisions and is also more ... Show more content on

The same employee may have had close relationships with subordinates before they became
supervisor. This example shows how occupation impacts behavior and how a change in position
can alter individual behavior. The next type of diversity is differences in skills and abilities. One
of the most important factors when considering skills and abilities is that individuals will often
adapt their behavior so they are making use of what they consider their positive skills and
abilities. For example, consider the case of an individual who believes that they have very
effective written communication skills but very poor oral communication skills. This individual is
likely to adapt his or her behavior so they write as much as possible, while avoiding communicating
orally. As a specific example, this individual might prepare memos or write emails as a way of
communicating with their employees, instead of having a meeting with employees. This illustrates
how people tend to adapt their behavior so they are using their positive qualities, while avoiding
having to use their weaker skills and abilities. Another type of diversity is personality traits.
Personality traits are defined as recurring patterns of behavior such as friendliness, social
dominance, conventionality, emotional adjustment, and aesthetic inclination (Seamon Kenrick,
1994). As this definition shows, personality traits are actually defined because of the observed
behavior they result in. The link

Essay about E-mail and Public Discourse
E mail doesn t just collapse distance, it demolishes all boundaries (Leonard 233). The author of
We ve Got Mail Always explains that e mail can be either a blessing or a curse (Leonard 233).
Does e mail have positive or negative impact on personal and public discourse? Many people may
say that it affects discourse negatively. Most people, however, agree that e mail is a very common,
cheap and quick form of communication which enables them to fulfill their social need of
interaction. People at different age and different education or social level have their own e mail
accounts and they communicate with others electronically way very often. E mail has positive

in Schwartz 237). Before sending an e mail, a person can always review and rewrite it, thus
positively changing personal and public discourse.
Furthermore, e mail has positive impact on public discourse in that people can develop themselves
by communicating with other people. Newsgroups, another function of the internet, is able create
a community. People gathering in front of their computer and writing messages about a particular
subject exchange their knowledge and experience. If you have something to say about that topic,
you e mail your comment to a central computer, which then forwards it to everyone else on the
list. If they have something to add, they can either respond to you privately or send another
message back to the central computer (Parsons 250). Some people want to share what they know;
others want to learn about something or both just want to express their feelings and thoughts.
These communities are just like others. Parsons says, We grieved for a friend we d lost and knew
that our little community had been changed forever (253). E mail is also a very common form of
communication among coworkers. Leonard mentions For decades, programmers have used e mail
to collaborate on projects. With increasing frequency, this collaboration is accruing across company
lines, and often without even the spur of commercial incentives. (233). Such collaboration improves
communication between coworkers even if they are far away from each

Pension Reform Case Study
The Rhode Island Pension Reform Background There are over a million residents living in Rhode

Receptor Proteins
A cell is the smallest basic functional unit of a living organism. The cell is composed of organelles
that help the cell perform its specialized function. Every cell contains a cell membrane and a
cytoplasm, the material that is within the cell but does not include the organelles. The cell
membrane is a semi permeable structure with 2 layers of phospholipids containing embedded
proteins. The role of this fluid mosaic model is to monitor the exchange of substances, separate the
cytoplasm from the external environment, form a communication between other cells, and act as an
identification that protects the cellfrom unidentifiable substances. Also known as fats, the
phospholipids creates a barrier between the layers because they consist of a nonpolar hydrophobic,

For cell communication, the cell membrane has signaling molecules called glycolipids, lipids
that have a carbohydrate and are bonded by a glycosidic bond. There are different proteins that
belong in the phospholipid bilayer and each of them have a function. Channel proteins are
designed to allow diffusion of molecules through small openings. Carrier proteins have binding
sites and work by targeting specific molecules to allow for passage through gate channels.
Receptor proteins triggers a release of molecules that stimulate cellular responses, for example the
release of hormones through the synaptic cleft. Proteins that use tags to identify cells to the
immune system are known as cell recognition proteins. Proteins also include enzymes and they
perform metabolic reactions in the body. The transport across the membrane allow for particles
with no charge or small ones to pass through, such as carbon dioxide. However, water cannot pass
through easily across and needs the assistance of an aquaporin, a channel protein, to move through
the bilayer. There are two types of transport: passive and active

Virtue In Hamlet
This quote, in the literal sense, begs for one to be true to one s self, as someone who is not true to
himself is false. This sentiment expressed by Polonius becomes seemingly incongruous with the
events and judgments made throughout the play, as the theme of deceit reigns over that of virtue.
While the play progresses, the characters demonstrate a growing struggle for virtueand lose the
power to be true to their own selves, thus compromising their abilities to uphold justice. As
actualities regarding King Hamlets death become apparent, either truthfulness and virtue, or the
ability to maintain justice is compromised. This concept is especially present in considering
Hamlet s pursuit of revenge for his father s death. His erratic and ineffective... Show more content

Throughout the play, granted his pensive and emotional nature, Hamlet does eventually evolve
due to much moral and virtuous growth, and while he never reaches the standards of a prince
qualified to oversee a nation, he does outgrow the role of the politically subordinate fawner.
Internal growth occurred when Hamlet finally learned to differentiate between his true self in
relation to his perception of self. His initial fits of madness and antic dispositions made this
differentiation vaguer, as these episodes had called into question his mental stability. When
presented on a public platform, Hamlet s stability seemed to be deteriorating; however, in
reviewing his introspective side, its clear that he feels great pain due to his father s death, as
demonstrated by his constant contemplation surrounding how he can best handle the situation. It is
when Hamlet discovers his sense of self that he develops a sense of virtue that begins to allow him
to exhibit both characteristics of integrity and justice; however, it is not until the accidental murder
of his mother that Hamlet develops the motivation of social justice in conjunction with virtue. This
being said, the struggle for a balance of justice and virtue does not occur until Hamlet feels that he
has contributed to upholding social justice by convicting those responsible for their crimes. This
notion of imbalance is especially present in Hamlet s plan to get revenge for his father s

governments and policy makers (HRSA, 2011). Today there are policy barriers that prevent the
expansion of telehealth, including reimbursement issues raised by Medicare and private payers,
state licensure, and liability and privacy concerns. Reimbursement Issues Reimbursement policies

peace after the Cold War ended, with over 800 million dollars being given to broadcast the

Finally, the Olympic games are altered by the diverse and changing social structures in the world.
For instance, in 1908 a photograph of British competitor Sybil Newall shooting her bow was
found on newspapers across England(2). Whether this photograph was staged to sell newspapers
or not, it cannot be denied that this photograph indicates the beginning of women s movement,
which was obviously an important issue during this time in the world. With more leniency being

Blank verse is written in a format that is usually used in poems such as its use of iambic rhythm,
but instead it is used as lines in a play. The poetically written lines are very formal and refined, so
speaking in such a way would create an appearance of grace and professionalism that one would
usually show with strangers or as in Elizabethan times even friends would be treated with some
formalities. Treating someone of high stature or relative importance too informally would be
considered rude in the Elizabethan age, as people wanted to be recognized for their earned
positions. Thus, Shakespeare s extensive inclusion of blank verse in Macbeth demonstrates the
way people normally talked during the Elizabethan time period, as royalty such as King Duncan,
and dignified people such as Macbeth and Banquo, speak in blank verse because they are treating
each other in a dignified and formal manner that is befitting of royalty and people of high

standards or how to correctly align a course. This is something that I do on a daily basis now and
will continue to build upon in my School Improvement Project. Our school recently bought new
curriculum and it is my goal to ensure that the curriculum is correctly aligned and leads to students
success. In the literature that I have read on this topic, there are a lot of people who use different
words and phrases to talk about aligning curriculum and meeting state standards. In the article,
Aligning Curriculum, Standards, and Assessments: Fulfilling the promise of School Reform, the
author gives definitions for congruence, correspondences, bridged and gravitational alignment
strategies. All of these ideas are important in understanding alignment but giving a teacher these
pieces of information will initially overwhelm them. Instead I feel that teachers need to be taken

and alignment. Many teachers are given curriculums that are aligned and provide them with their
maps. Through this school improvement project, I plan on taking teachers on this journey with me

Example Of Separate But Equal
TKAM Essay
Separate but equal is a concept created when African Americans turned to the court to help
protect their constitutional rights. However, the courts challenged former civil rights legislation
and made some decisions that led to the segregation of colored people. This concept continued
because people are very resistant to giving up power. This is displayed in To Kill a Mockingbird
through Tom Robinson s trial, and it also shows the resistance to this change. The repeal of the
laws establishing racial segregation, known as Jim Crow laws, was a key focus of the Civil Rights
Movement previous to 1954. Separate but equal was overturned by Linda Brown v. Board of
Education Supreme Court case. There are a lot of experiences recorded having to do with
segregation and discrimination. Some examples of this would be shown through the Little Rock
Nine cases and the Plessy Versus Ferguson trial. The concept of separate but equal was not
alleviated because people are resistant to change. In the case of Plessy Versus Ferguson in 1896, the
Supreme Court decided that racially separate facilities did not violate the constitution if said

Essay On William Shakespeare
This is an informational essay about Poet, Actor, and Playwright,William Shakespeare. In this
essay you can find much information ranging from fun facts to his death. This essay tells much
about his life and includes some details of family members. The key purpose of this essay is to
inform curious people about William Shakespeare. I regard the theatre as the greatest of all art
forms, the most immediate way in which a human being can share with another the sense of what it
is to be a human being(Thornton Wilder). Theatre is one of the most popular forms of
entertainment but what is it that makes it so amazing? Does the relatable format of theatre make it
more appealing than other forms of art and entertainment? Is there something... Show more content

He wrote 38 plays and 154 sonnets.(biographyonline.net) This shows us how dedicated
Shakespeare was to literature. Why did he find himself so attached to writing and how did he get
so great?
III: Early Life:
Although he is best known for his works as a successful adult, William Shakespeare was once a
child. Www.bardweb.net states, John Shakespeare had a remarkable run of success as a merchant,
alderman, and high bailiff of Stratford, during William s early childhood. His fortunes declined,
however, in the late 1570s. Shakespeare s family was very financially successful during most of
his childhood. This could have gave him motivation to have just as much success. William,
according to the church register, was the third of eight children in the Shakespeare household three
of whom died in childhood.(www.bardweb.net) Though he had a very rich childhood, William
learned the pain of loss at a very young age. Did this pain grow through adulthood.
IV: Middle Life William Shakespeare had started his adulthood late teen years. When they
married, Anne was 26 and William was 18. (folgur.edu) This proves he was very mature for his
age and his major responsibility started young. Shakespeare s only son, Hamnet, died in 1596 at
the age of 11. (folgur.edu) Since Hamnet was Shakespeare s only son, he was left living with three
other women. Could this have impacted how traumatic he was? Is anything known

Andy Warhola
Andrew Warhola, or Andy Warhol as he later became known, was born on August 6, 1928 in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In 1936, at the age of 8, he contracted an A beta haemolytic streptococcal
infection, and subsequently developed the neurological disorder Sydenham s chorea, which is also
known as St. Vitus Dance. This neurological disorder, which is characterized by involuntary and
uncoordinated movements of the face, hands and feet, caused him to be bedridden. It was during
this time that young Andy Warholwas taught to draw by his mother, who possessed an impressive
artistic ability. He also sought solace from his disorder in comic books and fashion magazines,
which would provide an inspiration for his later artwork, such as the Twenty Five... Show more

Following market research that was conducted in 2005, analysts discovered that there was no
consumer trend in purchases. After deeper research, using the growing field of neuromarketing,
they discovered that this lack of trend was caused by the uniformity in label design across all
flavors offered by the company, as the consumers were not able to differentiate between the thirty
two flavors offered. The absence of a trend made it increasingly difficult for the company to decide
what the most popular flavor. Is it tomato soup, the classic chicken noodle, or perhaps cream of
mushroom? Analysts were still not able to detect a trend in purchases, and because of this, the
Campbell Soup Company made the decision to redesign the cans. This redesign, which was
released in 2010, included switching the iconic red top to the bottom of the can, removing the
spoon from the soup, adding steam, and overall modernizing the can s label design. In 2012, in
honor of the fiftieth anniversary of Andy Warhol s Campbell s Soup Cans, the Campbell Soup
Company released limited edition tomato soup cans, in a series of five, that featured the original
label and bright colors that were characteristic of Warhol s personal, pop art style. This limited
edition product, sold at seventy five cents a can, illustrates the iconography of the Campbell s can,
as the company acknowledges the significance of Warhol s artwork and the impact his style made

Rebelling Colors
Carlos Cruz Diez, Chroma may be interpreted as breaching the routine pattern of hue in everyday
scale.
Carlos works is based on his groundbreaking color theory and art philosophy. Most of his works
consist of site specific installations and new innovations in the field of color theory and developing
new color patterns and applying them to everyday space. His gallery pushes my attention towards
his experimental work and focuses on multidisciplinary nature of his practice.
When I got into Carlos Chroma gallery in SCAD Museum of Art, you can see his inductive color
phenomenon is structured. I can visualize two major points out of the structure one is the use of
color contrast and the other is Induced color. His choice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After spending a little amount of time with the illustration, I understand that the third color was
just an illusion. Which makes me think of the process. Then I realized my phone, television,
digital camera, etc. a great amount of color I perceive are not actually present . What I see is a
rich and studied mixture of different primary light colors. The mix was made by the brain through
my visual organs. This relates to the RGB system that creates all perceptible colors from the
mixture of red, green and blue. Human eye receptors are especially sensible to these three colors.
Now the RGB colors are provoking me to look into them in a much deeper sense and all his
works have this strong representation of colors. These colors have a strong impact on my
emotions. Then to my surprise, I met with another piece of work from his gallery called Douches
D Induction Chromatique. It is closely related to the phenomenon of retinal persistence. The
installation has three semitransparent cylinders with three different RGB colors basically red blue
and green. Initially, I was completely blank and do not have any thoughts are assumptions about
that artwork. At first, I entered the Red tinted cylinder and decided to dedicate 2 mins for each
cylinder with a different color. As the time runs, the impact of the red tint is increasing faster with
seconds. All I can see is red tented surroundings. The visuals which I was passing through were

Piggy In William Golding s Lord Of The Flies
Out of all of the boys on the island, Piggy is the only boy who cares most about getting off the
island. He also attaches himself to the conch, which represents order, and surrounds himself in
items that symbolize order. Because of all of this, Piggy chooses to accept civilization with
open arms. For example, Piggy always says You haven t got the conch! ( 11 . 29) whenever the
boys forget the purpose of the conch. The conch represents order and their rules on the island.
Whenever they are broken, Piggy tries to reinforce its purpose and bring back their government .
Another item Piggy is attached to that represents civilization are his glasses. Here let me go! His
voice rose to a shriek of terror as Jack snatched the glasses off his face.

They convey their messages in multiple ways; using different tones to evoke certain moods on their readers. Some authors use a few different ways to catch their audiences attention; persuading them using logic, ethics and emotion. In the excerpt Learning to Read by Malcolm X, he uses logic and emotion to persuade his audience. By using anger to evoke remorse in his readers. Malcolm X references historical events to convey his message. Malcolm X has a vast audience in this writing. He did not write for one particular person or group. Books like the one by Frederick Olmstead opened my eyes to the horrors suffered when the slave was landed in the United States. (Malcolm X). He not only had proof to share but had multiple references to provide clarity and proof. Malcolm X wrote his piece by starting in the present, then going back ad forth between the past and present. Doing so made this piece easy to follow and comprehend. He uses examples from the past to show clarity in the present. Malcolm X uses an abundance of strong and descriptive words and phrases. Another short term response to physical activity is that your breathing rate and heart rate increases, the reason this occurs is because the muscles are being made to work harder and as a result of that the muscles need more oxygen so therefore you need to breathe in more oxygen and breathe out more carbon dioxide to keep the muscles going. Another long term change that occurs due to training is that the heart gets larger; the result in the change is due to increased stress on the heart. The extra work of pumping blood against the increased pressure causes the heart wall to thicken over time, the same way a body muscle increases in mass in response to weightlifting. A long term change in the cardiovascular system as a result of training is that the resting heart rate gets lower, the cardiovascular response happens because a person that has been training for a long time has a lower heart rate because through exercise, they have a stronger heart; meaning that an athlete s heart can pump more blood and more oxygen out with one pump than a non athlete s heart could. Another long term response in the cardiovascular system is that the blood supply increases, this change is due to your body needing more oxygen because you are exercising, your muscles and all your body organs are needing more energy and oxygen, this is because your body is working more than usual. • 8. Summary Of Three Girls By Oates It was like a child s game in which you stare at foliage, grass, clouds in the sky, and suddenly you see a face or a figure, and after that recognition you can t not see the hidden shape, its staring you in the face. (Oates, 95) Oates Three Girls tells the story of two girl poets in the Strand Bookstore in Manhattan on a snowy day in March of 1956. They wander through the aisles of poetry, with commentary about various poets and collections of poetries and how they reflected on the girl poets . We were girl poets passionately enamored of T.S. Eliot but scornful of Robert Frost, whom we d been made to memorize in high school Slyly we communicated in code phrases from Eliot in the presence of obtuse others in our dining hall and residence. (Oates, 92) Suddenly she is pulled from her thoughts, as her friend touches her wrist and guides her further into the store to stumble upon Marilyn Monroe. From here, the girl poets follow her discretely, with a commentary of how Monroe s discretion was so much different form how she was normally seen. She was, at that moment, not a garnish blond showgirl , but rather this woman was an individual wholly absorbed in selecting, leafing through, pausing to read books (Oates, 93) They continue to follow her until she reaches the storefront, where they volunteer to pay for her books to keep the secret of her being here. From there they return her books to her outside, with her gifting them the Selected Poems of Marianne Moore before departing. The story closes with the two girl poets sharing their first kiss. The chosen quote, ( It was like a child s game in which you stare at foliage, grass, clouds in the sky, and suddenly you see a face or a figure, and after that recognition you can t not see the hidden shape, its staring you in the face. (Oates, 95)) plays not only to the main plot of the story (the girl poets discovering Marilyn Monroe in the Strand Bookstore), but also to the subplot (the girl poets sharing their first kiss and becoming lovers) as well. It applies to the main plot very clearly through two sides: that though by this point in the story only the girl poets have discovered it is Monroe, the realization that others could at moment s ... • 9. Who Is Victor Frankenstein A Villain In Frankenstein by Mary Shelly, it is hard to differentiate who is the hero and who is the villain. In countless stories, it is almost automatically quite easy to distinguish the characteristics between the hero and the villain. This is not the case in Mary Shelly s novel Frankenstein. In the novel, we meet Victor Frankensteinand his science experiment gone rogue, the Creature. At first glance into the novel, many people would debate that the Creature is, in fact, the villain because he had maliciously murdered Victor Frankenstein s family and closest friends. Of course anyone with a properly functioning brain would say that the Creature is the bad guy but what some people do not take into consideration is the Creature s background,... No father could claim the gratitude of his child so completely as I should deserve theirs (Shelly 4.8). Frankenstein becomes obsessed with science because it helped him cope with the death of his mother, Caroline, and it is also his breaking point. His emotions mistakenly lead him to believe that he can have control over the destinies of people s lives if only he knew how. This is where his obsession develops. Nor could I consider the magnitude and complexity of my plan as any argument of its impracticability. It was with these feelings that I began the creation of a human being. (Shelly 4.7). When Frankenstein beings to understand the factors to what makes life possible, he uses science in trying to become God and tries to control these factors. Assignment Questions On Computer Systems Essay Assignment 1 Computer Systems Processor (CPU) The Central processing unit (CPU) is where all the calculations take place within the computer system. The CPU connects directly to a socket on the motherboard. The processor is responsible for carrying out instructions (programs), it can take inputs from input devices such as a keyboard or mouse, and then use this to create an output to be displayed on a monitor or for printing. Motherboard The motherboard contains the basic circuitry, and many of the components connect to it. The motherboard is responsible of allocating the power, supplied by the PSU, to the other components connected to the board. It also allows the different components within the computer system to communicate to each other and send information around. The motherboard also houses all of the ports that go on the back panel of the pc. Power Supply The power supply, or Power Supply Unit (PSU), is the component that supplies power to the components of the computer system. It does this by converting the AC current from the mains socket do DC current. The power supply is also capable of regulating the voltage that the computer system receives this helps to avoid any abnormal spikes of high voltage that could damage, or destroy components of the computer. I have heard of AA but never had an expanded understanding of the program. The first thingI did was google Alcoholics Anonymous University of Iowa and the rest was a breeze. In The Big Short it showed how the recession effected all levels of the system and not just the middle class, which is the majority of America. Throughout Twilight of the Elites it discusses the failures within a variety of institutions. The Big Short is a movie that discusses the housing market crash in 2008. As you may know, the banks, the mortgage brokers, and the consumers were all affected by this collapse. On each level of the system, there were things that went wrong and that could have been changed or could have prevented the failure of the housing market. Before the 1970 s banking was not a business that you went into to make money and it remained that way until Louis Ranieri came around. Louis Ranieri had one idea that changed the housing market forever. His plan was to have a mortgage back security. Mortgage back securities are an asset based security backed by a mortgage. For example, if you use your mortgage to start a business, your business is backed by that mortgage. The average mortgage loan has a fixed rate loan and takes thirty years to pay off, however, when bundling them all together it s an opportunity to make greater profits. Mr. Ranieri believed these would still be less risky because people are more likely to pay their mortgages off. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Piaget s theory says that children try to understand the world around them in different phases as they grow. As children, they want to make sense of everything that is going on around them. Piaget also did not realize that many people never reach the final stage (formal operational period), he stated that we should all reach that stage between age 11 and adulthood (Kail, 2016). He also thought that the social environment and culture that someone is raised in did not affect the cognitive and language development of a child, this is a big weakness since he did not explore all options for why we develop the way we do. Piaget was also flawed in thinking that language comes after thought, when most other psychologists think development is a combination of both. Examining Four Types of Diversity Essay examples While diversity is often a term used to refer specifically to cultural differences, diversity applies to all the qualities that make people different. From a management perspective, the key to diversity is to understand how different types of diversity and different demographic characteristics can impact human behavior. The four types of diversity that will be examined are: occupation, differences in skills and abilities, personality traits, and value and attitudes. For each type of diversity, the impact on individualbehavior will be described. One type of diversity is occupation. For example, an individual in a professional occupation is more likely to make his or her own decisions and is also more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The same employee may have had close relationships with subordinates before they became supervisor. This example shows how occupation impacts behavior and how a change in position can alter individual behavior. The next type of diversity is differences in skills and abilities. One of the most important factors when considering skills and abilities is that individuals will often adapt their behavior so they are making use of what they consider their positive skills and abilities. For example, consider the case of an individual who believes that they have very effective written communication skills but very poor oral communication skills. This individual is likely to adapt his or her behavior so they write as much as possible, while avoiding communicating orally. As a specific example, this individual might prepare memos or write emails as a way of communicating with their employees, instead of having a meeting with employees. This illustrates how people tend to adapt their behavior so they are using their positive qualities, while avoiding having to use their weaker skills and abilities. Another type of diversity is personality traits. Personality traits are defined as recurring patterns of behavior such as friendliness, social dominance, conventionality, emotional adjustment, and aesthetic inclination (Seamon Kenrick, 1994). As this definition shows, personality traits are actually defined because of the observed behavior they result in. The link ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 25. Receptor Proteins A cell is the smallest basic functional unit of a living organism. The cell is composed of organelles that help the cell perform its specialized function. Every cell contains a cell membrane and a cytoplasm, the material that is within the cell but does not include the organelles. The cell membrane is a semi permeable structure with 2 layers of phospholipids containing embedded proteins. The role of this fluid mosaic model is to monitor the exchange of substances, separate the cytoplasm from the external environment, form a communication between other cells, and act as an identification that protects the cellfrom unidentifiable substances. Also known as fats, the phospholipids creates a barrier between the layers because they consist of a nonpolar hydrophobic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For cell communication, the cell membrane has signaling molecules called glycolipids, lipids that have a carbohydrate and are bonded by a glycosidic bond. There are different proteins that belong in the phospholipid bilayer and each of them have a function. Channel proteins are designed to allow diffusion of molecules through small openings. Carrier proteins have binding sites and work by targeting specific molecules to allow for passage through gate channels. Receptor proteins triggers a release of molecules that stimulate cellular responses, for example the release of hormones through the synaptic cleft. Proteins that use tags to identify cells to the immune system are known as cell recognition proteins. Proteins also include enzymes and they perform metabolic reactions in the body. The transport across the membrane allow for particles with no charge or small ones to pass through, such as carbon dioxide. However, water cannot pass through easily across and needs the assistance of an aquaporin, a channel protein, to move through the bilayer. There are two types of transport: passive and active ... • 26. Virtue In Hamlet This quote, in the literal sense, begs for one to be true to one s self, as someone who is not true to himself is false. This sentiment expressed by Polonius becomes seemingly incongruous with the events and judgments made throughout the play, as the theme of deceit reigns over that of virtue. While the play progresses, the characters demonstrate a growing struggle for virtueand lose the power to be true to their own selves, thus compromising their abilities to uphold justice. As actualities regarding King Hamlets death become apparent, either truthfulness and virtue, or the ability to maintain justice is compromised. This concept is especially present in considering Hamlet s pursuit of revenge for his father s death. His erratic and ineffective... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the play, granted his pensive and emotional nature, Hamlet does eventually evolve due to much moral and virtuous growth, and while he never reaches the standards of a prince qualified to oversee a nation, he does outgrow the role of the politically subordinate fawner. Internal growth occurred when Hamlet finally learned to differentiate between his true self in relation to his perception of self. His initial fits of madness and antic dispositions made this differentiation vaguer, as these episodes had called into question his mental stability. When presented on a public platform, Hamlet s stability seemed to be deteriorating; however, in reviewing his introspective side, its clear that he feels great pain due to his father s death, as demonstrated by his constant contemplation surrounding how he can best handle the situation. It is when Hamlet discovers his sense of self that he develops a sense of virtue that begins to allow him to exhibit both characteristics of integrity and justice; however, it is not until the accidental murder of his mother that Hamlet develops the motivation of social justice in conjunction with virtue. This being said, the struggle for a balance of justice and virtue does not occur until Hamlet feels that he has contributed to upholding social justice by convicting those responsible for their crimes. This notion of imbalance is especially present in Hamlet s plan to get revenge for his father s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the courts challenged former civil rights legislation and made some decisions that led to the segregation of colored people. This concept continued because people are very resistant to giving up power. This is displayed in To Kill a Mockingbird through Tom Robinson s trial, and it also shows the resistance to this change. The repeal of the laws establishing racial segregation, known as Jim Crow laws, was a key focus of the Civil Rights Movement previous to 1954. Separate but equal was overturned by Linda Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court case. There are a lot of experiences recorded having to do with segregation and discrimination. Some examples of this would be shown through the Little Rock Nine cases and the Plessy Versus Ferguson trial. The concept of separate but equal was not alleviated because people are resistant to change. In the case of Plessy Versus Ferguson in 1896, the Supreme Court decided that racially separate facilities did not violate the constitution if said facilities were equal. The Court judged that segregation was not discrimination. In 1883, the Supreme Court struck down the 1875 act, which aimed to protect all citizens in their civil and legal rights.
