A Subarachnoid Hemorrhages
A Subarachnoid Hemorrhage, or SAH, is devastating and usually has a traumatic outcome. Basically,
an SAH is bleeding that occurs between the brain and what surrounds it. This surrounding area is
known as the arachnoid, thus the reasoning behind the name. The main cause of SAH is cerebral, or
brain aneurysms, because aneurysms usually have more fragile walls than normal vessels, putting
them at more of a risk to rupture. Subarachnoid hemorrhages are not something to be taken lightly, as
they have many dangers. Many people lack awareness of the dangers accompanied with subarachnoid
hemorrhages as soon as they occur, during the treatment of them, and even with life after surviving the
hemorrhage. First, as soon as a subarachnoid hemorrhage occurs, there are many dangers to consider.
While a brain aneurysm may not have any symptoms, an SAH does and they are unfortunately very
sudden. Since an SAH is bleeding from the arteries, the rupture causes abrupt bleeding. From The
Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine, Ms. Julia Barrett describes that the immediate danger caused by
subarachnoid hemorrhages would be ischemia. She states, Ischemia refers to tissue damage caused by
restricted or blocked blood flow. The areas of the brain that do not receive adequate blood and oxygen
can suffer irreparable injury, leading to permanent brain damage or death, thus agreeing that danger is
present from the very start with subarachnoid hemorrhages (Barrett). The rapid bleeding outside of the
brain

The history of Philip Morris and the Marlboro
The history of what is now a global company can be traced back to Philip Morris s 1847 opening of a
single shop on London s Bond Street, selling tobacco and ready made cigarettes.
On Mr Morris s death, the business was taken over by his wife Margaret and his brother Leopold. In
1881 the company went public, Leopold Morris joining Joseph Grunebaum to establish Philip Morris

Essay on Social Control Theory vs. Social Learning Theory
Social Control Theory vs. Social Learning Theory
Abstract
Social control theory and social learning theory are two theories that suggest why deviant behavior is
chosen to be acted upon by some individuals and not others. Both take a different stance on the issue.
Social control theory suggests people s behavior is based on their bonds to society, if they have strong
bonds to society they conform and if not they have a tendency to act out or become involved in
criminal or deviant behavior. Social learning theory suggest that through vicarious learning people
learn from observing others and based on what the observe make the choice of whether to copy those
actions to obtain desired results or chose not to if ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
47 54). Also to achieve many of these goals it is very helpful not to participate in delinquent behavior
because it is looked upon negatively and could hinder the achievement of the goals.
The third element in Hirschi bond to society is involvement. Involvement in this theory is simply the
level of participation an individual actively pursues in conventional activities. Some of the activities
this could include are social events, sports teams, school clubs, religious organizations, family events,
or simply a job. These types of activities keep people busy and provide less time to participate or get
caught up in delinquent behavior. This is especially the case for adolescents as they are highly
influenced by peers who may not lead them to the best choices on how to spend their time, which
could lead to deviant behavior (Simons, Simons, amp; Wallace, 2004, p. 21).
The fourth and final element is belief (Simons, Simons, amp; Wallace, 2004, p. 21). Parents and
teachers can play an important role in children s lives by teaching them right from wrong, moral
issues, and the basic rules and laws of society. How the child comes to understand, accept, and believe
in these concepts will determine how he or she acts. If the child believes in these rules and laws and
accepts them he or she is more likely to follow the law and less likely to partake in delinquent
behavior, the opposite holds true if he or she does not believe in the rules or do not care or fear the

Why Did Hitler Become So Evil
How did Hitler become so evil and treat people the way he did? Why did Adolf Hitler kill all the
people that he did? Do you really know how Adolf s childhood really went? Hitler s adult decisions
were driven by his father s discipline when he was a child, his dropping out of school and his average
parents. Hitler wasn t treated very well when he was a child. He underwent a lot of abuse as a child his
father would take out his pain and anger on Adolf s body. Adolf s father expected everybody to do as
he said, and when they didn t he would hit Adolf. Hitler lived in critical condition and needed

Lysergic Acid Diethlyamide Essays
Lysergic Acid Diethlyamide The psychedelic effects of d Lysergic Acid Diethylamide 25 (LSD) were
discovered by Dr. Albert Hoffman by accident in 1938. In the 1950s and 1960s, LSD was used by
psychiatrists for analytic psychotherapy. It was thought that the administration of LSD could aid the
patient in releasing repressed material. It was also suggested that psychiatrists themselves might
develop more insight into the pathology of a diseased mind through self experimentation. 1,2 During
the late 60s, LSD became popular as a recreational drug. While it has been suggested that recreational
use of the drug has dropped, a recent report on CNN claimed that 4.4% of 8th graders have tried it.

A Brief Foray Into Philosophy and the Cognitive Sciences Modern physics is divided by two
descriptions of the universe: the theory of relativity and quantum mechanics. Many physicists have
faith that at some point a Grand Unified Theory will be developed which will provide a unified
description of the universe from subatomic particles to the movement of the planets. Like in physics,
the cognitive sciences can describe the brain at different levels of abstraction. For example,
neurobiologists study brain function at the level of neurons while psychologists look for the laws
describing behavior and cognitive mechanisms. Also like in physics, many in these fields believe that
it is possible that one day we will be able to understand complicated behaviors in terms of neuronal
mechanisms. Others believe that this unification isn t possible even in theory because there is some
metaphysical quality to consciousness that transcends neural firing patterns. Even if consciousness can
t be described by a Grand Unified Theory of the cognitive sciences, it is apparent that many of our
cognitive mechanisms and behaviors can. While research on the level of neurons and psychological
mechanisms is fairly well developed, the area in between these is rather murky. Some progress has
been made however. Cognitive scientists have been able to associate

Different Methods Used For The Diagnosis Of The Cancer
In the medical field, currently various methods are used for the diagnosis of the cancer. Mostly the
cancer specialist uses the gland structure for the diagnosis of the cancer patient. Hence the glandular
structure observation is very important for the cancer patient disease diagnosis. For the disease
diagnosis purpose we required the microscopic image of the gland. A single gland contains thousands
of tissues and cells in it, some of them may be overlapped to each other. In this paper we used the,
Saliency Map Method, for the segmentation of the input image given by the user. Then we have used
the Visual Signal To Noise Ratio (VSNR) Method, This method is used to detect the overlapped cells
and it also plays the important role to separate the overlapped cells. The VSNR method is also helps to
detect the various features of the gland like area, eccentricity and the orientation of each cells present
and detect the total area covered by cells in that image. from all above observations the pathologist
can easily predict the disease.
Keywords: Gland Structure, Cells, Microscopic images, Segmentation.. 1. INTRODUCTION
Tissue diagnosis [1] is the very important factor in the modern day medical field. The tissue diagnosis
technique helps to detect various diseases easily from the glandular images. For such type of tissue
diagnosis the tissue samples are taken from the patients and then these tissue samples are viewed
under the microscope by pathologist. As soon as the

Oslo Accords
Twenty three years later, the agreement signing that took place on the front lawn of the White House
that had plans to change the ways between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) is
now looked at as one of the worst actions that was a part of the Israeli Palestinian conflict. This
agreement is known as the Oslo Accords or Peace Process . Just like several other peace acts in the
world, the United States played a significant but limited role in making the Oslo Peace Accords
happen. Although the agreement had high potential to work, the amount of lying, accusing, trust
issues, corruption, and terror for the citizens of losing their homes caused this series of agreements to
fail. Between 1993 and 1998, the series of agreements ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Israel repeatedly refused to withdraw its troops at a rate and to the extent contemplated under the
agreements, and continued its settlement of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Palestinians, meanwhile,
violated restrictions on the number of persons under arms. Israel also charged that the Palestinian
Authority failed to take adequate steps to halt attacks on Israeli civilians by armed Palestinian groups,
or to stem incitement to violence against Israel. Neither side could agree on anything because there
was no trust between the two them. The Office of The Historian declares that At the prime minister s
insistence, Clinton convened a summit at Camp David in July 2000, where he, Barak, and Arafat
attempted to reach a final agreement on the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. Accounts differ as to why
Camp David failed, but it is clear that despite additional concessions by Barak, the Israelis and
Palestinians remained strongly at odds over borders, Jerusalem, and whether Israel would recognize
Palestinian refugees right of return. The summit ended without a settlement; Clinton would blame
Arafat for its failure. By December of 2000, the riots had already been in action since September and
the violence between the Israelis and Palestinians was brutal (Office of the Historian). Bill Clinton,

Employee Motivational Session
In my opinion, this session went extremely well, however in the beginning of the session; Amanda
was not ready to change as evidenced by her repeatedly stating, Smoking marijuana is not a big deal. I
found this to be a challenge because although Amanda s kids were removed she still was not ready to
proceed with change as indicated by her stating that it s not hurting anyone. After Amanda stated why
she was visiting me, I began the session with an affirmation, by telling Amanda that I knew that it took
a lot for her to come and willingly share openly with me, and I thanked her for that.
By stating this I showed support and empathy to Amanda which is something she needed because she
thanked me and stated that no one sees the good and me. Through Amanda stating this, it shows me
that she has lost motivation because of past encounters with people judging her. Amanda also stated, I

Millenial Demand
As a result of the economic recession, the lifestyle of millennials and the previous generation is
changing. For example, the millennial generation is continuing to live with their parents due to the
economy. How do the changes in the economy affect our millennial generation? What are the
behavioral changes that affect our aggregate demand? How? Why?
The Application of Aggregate Demand and Supply is the total quantity of goods purchased and
produced at various prices. Since millennials are not purchasing as many goods due to economic
decline, the aggregate demand decreases. For instance, many millennials are not buying homes. Beth
Bravermen states in her article, The Main Reason Millennials Aren t Buying Homes, that Student loan
debt, high rents and low wages all make it tough for millennials to save enough to cover the standard
20 percent down payment.
During the periods of the economic recession, and the periods following, it is very difficult for
millennials to obtain a higher paying job. As a result, it leads to income loss. Many of them have ...

economy is indenting into millennials judgment that perusing education is the first priority. The
advantage of a college degree makes millennials want to invest more of their time into education
rather than a home. They are more devoted to finish all levels of schooling before making any

National Rifle Association Research Paper
The National Rifle Association is considered one of the most powerful lobbies in Washington. The
way it operates including how it recruits and maintains an active membership have given it outsize
influence over lawmakers at the state and federal level. Unlike corporate lobbyists, the power of the
NRA comes from its massive membership and powerful activist base, as well as from millions of
dollars from dues and corporate sponsors. The gun owners who comprise the NRA are voters who are
passionate about firearms, and tend to be fiercely loyal to the organization. The organization
coordinates their hunting trips, funds their gun clubs, and teaches their kids how to shoot safely. In

Then, the NRA CRDF works to expand the interpretation of those laws in the courts. And the NRA

Although many countries in Africa have poor economies, there are wealthy countries as well. Guinea,
Mauritius, South Africa, and Libya are included in the top 100 world rank of GDP per capita. As the
climate in African countries have warranted droughts and scarce rainfall, the citizens of the
impoverished countries are left to travel miles for clean water whereas those in more affluent
neighboring countries do not have to go too far for the things they need (Nilsson Nyanchaga, p.136).
Additionally, there is inequality within various African countries as well, as urban populations have
access to piped water, whereas rural populations do not. The supply of water is not evenly dispersed
nor is it easily accessible due to the lack of resources and low economies.

Occasionally, this type of scenario is not seen, however, especially when speaking about newest

The Macondo Blowout in The Gulf of Mexico
Introduction The Gulf of Mexico (GoM) harbors a rich biota with ecological and high commercial
significance (Yanez Arancibia and Day 2004). In this ecosystem, the microorganisms are the primary
consumers and play major role in the biogeochemical cycling of organic matters (Pomeroy 1974). The
GoM ecosystem is often perturbed by natural calamities or human activities affecting the microbial
community structure (Kryachko et al. 2012) and the associated nutrient cycling at all trophic levels
(Pomeroy 1974; Camilli et al. 2010; Atlas and Hazen 2011). On April 20, 2010 the Macondo Blowout,
the largest accidental oil spill in the GoM and the second largest in the world, released an estimated
4.9 million barrels of crude oil (Atlas and Hazen 2011). This significant ecological perturbation of the
sea and coastal region has led to negative impacts in local fishing, aquaculture and tourism (National
Health Environmental Effects Research Laboratory (US) Gulf Ecology Division 1999; Yanez
Arancibia and Day 2004; Arreguin Sanchez et al. 2004; Ritchie and Keller 2008). Since the
occurrence of the oil spill, most studies used molecular approaches including NextGen sequencing

The Use Of Symbolism In Paul s Case By Willa Cather
One of the finest forms of writing is the use of symbolism. This representation allows readers to
signify an object, person, situation or word with a feeling or idea. Symbolism is an illustration of
speech that is used when an author wants to form a certain mood or emotion. Readers find stories
easier to associate with when there is a symbol in which is relatable and a multiple uses of conflict for
attention grabbers. An example of symbolic imagery could be a bald eagle that represents freedom to
the United States. In literature, an author utilizes figures of speech, like metaphors and allegory to
explain the symbols being used.
In her story Paul s Case, Willa Cather provides a short story full of lies and defeat. The story takes
place firstly in Pittsburgh and later to New York, where a young man named Paul goes through life
feeling hopeless and fragile. Cather begins the story with Paul meeting his teachers in the principles
office while wearing a red carnation. To the teachers, the red carnation was not properly significant of
the contrite spirit befitting a boy under the ban of suspension (90). Through this initial statement,
analysis can be extended to include the story s frequent references to other flowers, which also
symbolize Paul s desires and mirror his disconnection from the world (Crabtree). Cather s tone
throughout the story is dry, factual, and a bit awkward. However, the frequency of the awkward tone
engulfs the reader and mandates constant attention

Leibniz and the Problem of Evil
LEIBNIZ S CONCEPTION OF THE PROBLEM OF EVIL BY OKOJIE E. PETER
epo4escriva@yahoo.com MAY 2013 INTRODUCTION For many centuries, philosophers have been
discussing evil, how it exists in the world, and how this relates to God. The discussion on evil and its
relations to us is not an easy one though. It is commonly called the problem of evil. The problem of
evil in contemporary philosophy is generally regarded as an argument for atheism. The atheist
contends that God and evil are incompatible, and given that evil clearly exists, God cannot exist. The
problem is generally used to disprove God s existence by showing an inconsistency between an all
powerful, all good, and all knowing God; and the existence of evil. Philosophers over the centuries ...

These passions, like great winds, have blown me hither and thither, in a wayward course, over a deep
ocean of anguish, reaching to the very verge of despair. Love and knowledge, so far as they were
possible, led upward toward the heavens. But always pity brought me back to earth. Echoes of cries of
pain reverberate in my heart. Children in famine, victims tortured by oppressors, helpless old people a
hated burden to their sons, and the whole world of loneliness, poverty, and pain make a mockery of
what human life should be. I long to alleviate the evil, but I cannot, and I too suffer.3 The Greek
philosopher Epicurus is most likely the first recognized philosopher to ask how the existence of evil
could be compatible with the nature of God (The Wrath of God 13).4 According to Epicurean
philosophy, the notions of good and evil are identified with pleasure and pain respectively. The
Epicurean claim is that only pleasure is good. Accordingly, this translates into pursue pleasure (good)
and avoid pain (evil). 5 David Hume in Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion says of Epicurus:
Epicurus old questions are yet unanswered. Is he (God) willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he
is impotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Whence
then is evil? 6 Even if Epicurus is regarded as the first to raise

Sustainable Design:
The bridge has a very well designed sustainability concept, relying on upcycled materials to complete
the bridge. These upcycled materials consist of the wood, the fishing net, the oil barrels and the plastic
shielding for the barrels. These materials can be used for functional roles in the design, such as
platforms, floatation, safety lines across hand rails, and so on. The bridge s sustainability concept can
be further supported by the ease of replacing materials, and not throwing them in the bin. The
materials such as wood, plastic and pieces of metallic bolts and nuts can be recycled and reused for
other purposed such as furniture, storage or completely recycled back into a molten form for the
metallic objects.

Learning The Importance Of Distributed Learning Environments
Learning the importance of distributed learning environments
Collaborative learning
We as societies are hindered in advancement by secluding ourselves alone. Learning in groups
working together adds an element of scaffolding and accountability to learning. The shared
construction of meaning is most visible and available for research at the small group unit of analysis,
where it appears as group cognition (Stahl et al., 2006). Social cohesion adds elements of
accountability and a sense of enjoyment, camaraderie, and social acceptance of all cultures. Adding to
the literature, Akyol Garrison, 2014, Community of Inquiry argues Social presence may well have
more influence in informal learning environments, K 12 settings, or in online learning where students
are new to this medium (Akyol, Garrison, p.18, 2014). Positive reinforcement striving to acquire
meaningful relationships build lifelong ethical citizens.
Social Interaction in learning.
Sharing and cooperation have passed the tests of time. As humans, we are constantly looking for that
human connection and membership within a group. A complex of simultaneously applied instructional
approaches, each reinforcing and/or complementing the other can enhance collaborative learning and
social interaction amongst group members (Kreijns et al. p.338, 2003). Working together has never
been so important, and effective teamwork never so stressed, bringing people together who would
otherwise be easily divided with technology.

Mary Barton Summary
In Mary Barton by Elizabeth Gaskell, she captures the hardships that the mill workers experience
during the 1800s by including imagery and contrast. The author writes about the workers conditions
by explaining their lives and differences to the ones who do not suffer, and she also vividly describes
the experiences of the workers to make the readers see the hardships and their distressing lives.
Therefore, one can predict that the author feels sorrow and sadness for the mill workers. One can
vividly see the experiences of the mill workers by the descriptions that Gaskell includes in her story.
In the second paragraph, she begins to describe the deprivations of the workers by stating that
employees are getting [removed] from house to house,

Historical Argumentative Analysis
I thoroughly enjoyed reading your historical argument this week, and because our posts were so
similar, I thought you might be interested in hearing about how the government tried to streamline
another expensive federal program.
In 1981, in an attempt to cut the federal budget and streamline the free and reduced school lunch
programs, the government proposed to pass proposed reduction in the milk portions and the cut from
three fourths of a cup of two vegetables or fruits to half a cup. On that note, the Department of
Agriculture Department attempted to allow ketchup, pickle relish, and jam to be counted as fruits and

The Librarian From The Black Lagoon Analysis
This has brought controversy to many for the fact that on one side books can be full of information
and from the other side it can create the wrong image towards another person. In the kids book The
LIbrarian from the Black Lagoon written by Mike Thaler a librarian is described as a kid laminator
they say she laminates you if you talk in the library (5). or when they say She also has rubber stamps
on the soles of her shoes. And whenever she steps...it says OVERDUE (7). A librarian being described
this way can infact instill fear into some people and although its just a kid s book people stay with this
image of a librarian. It makes people assume that they are some type of rude person. Another example
of stereotypes that includes librarians is that they are all women who sit around doing nothing more

Diagnostic Imaging: A Sound Career in Sonography One of the main reasons for choosing a
healthcare career in todays society, aside from the basic need for a self sustaining income, is the
opportunity to make differences in peoples lives. With the demand for healthcare professionals and
alternative medicines on the rise, so is the need for adequately educated trained personnel. Diagnostic
Medical Sonography is becoming an increasingly attractive alternative to radiologic procedures such

promises an exceptional outlook for sonographers. The majority of diagnostic medical sonographers

growing number of career opportunities at clinics and diagnostic centers (Rising Demand for

Hot Chocolate Cookies Essay
The name of the recipe I will be making is Mexican hot chocolate cookies. The reason I chose
Mexican hot chocolate cookies is I find this cookie super unique in taste and texture compared to other
cookies. It is fairly simple to make. I learned how to make these cookies with my mother. It was not
for a special occasion, we just wanted to try a new recipe. Our family often packages the cookies,
three per bag, to take to the military base and distribute to the security forces folks on duty. They
really appreciate being thought of. They often tease my mother saying it has been too long since she
brought them by. There are stories of people hiding them from their spouse or family members. The
recipe originally appeared on Martha Stewart s website. My mother made some changes to the recipe
along the way. It is best to gather all of the ingredients and equipment before you begin to prepare the
recipe. One important tip is to set the butter on the counter for twenty minutes before starting the
recipe. We learned quickly that the temperature of the butter plays a big role in how the cookies turn
out. Consequently, if the butter is too warm the cookies spread out while baking. We determined that
somewhere between twenty and thirty minutes is best. The equipment needed for this recipe is:
Equipment: parchment paper, a medium size bowl, a large bowl, a hand mixer or stand mixer, mixing
spoon, measuring spoons, sifter, spatula, cookie scoop, fork and two cookie sheets. The

worked with the devil and were considered evil. England had ruled in 1641 that witchcraft was a
crime, around this time in England and its surrounding countries in Europe there was an abundance of
witch hunts and trials taking place. Witch hunting had become a phenomenon. In 1626, European

Should Americans Be Required For Learn Spanish As A Second...
Language is power. If you cannot understand or be understood you have no power. You are at the
mercy of everyone. (Rudat, 1994, Stow, Dodd 356) Should Americans be required to learn Spanish as
a second language? The construction of our nation stands on documents written in English, however
English is not our official language nor has it ever been. America is a melting pot in which English is
the most prominent language, followed closely by Spanish. Requiring Americans to learn Spanish is a
great controversy; I strongly believe that it should be a requirement, because it improves academic
achievements, career success, and cultural and social understanding. The controversy has great
counter arguments such as the double standard Americans are held to, and further division of the
country. Regarding the counterarguments, I still firmly believe that it should be a requirement because
the integration of a second language in our schools is more beneficial to our country s success as a
whole. First and foremost, the promotion of bilingualism in American school systems would greatly
increase academic achievements. According to Huffington Post, the United States of America falls to

Through the course of the Second World War, Germany partook in numerous courses of research and
development of weapons systems and platforms that were believed that they could help win the war
more quickly and later hopefully turn the tide of the war. Of these the more ambitious and advanced
attempts without doubt were the projects dubbed as Germany s Wunderwaffen, or Wonder Weapons ,
by the nation s Propaganda network. Several of these projects proved instrumental to advancement of
many people of the world after the war, be such for military or civilian development, and they ranged
between the practical to outright insane in scope. Through the course of this paper I will present and

they had during or after the war for technological development. The first topic that will be covered

Second will be projects involving several munitions projects that Germany had undertaken during the
course of the Second World War.

Doublespeak In English Language
Today s world is rife with inaccurate use of the English language. Some, like George Orwell in
Politics and the English Language, may even argue that the English language is on the decline. In The
World of Doublespeak, Lutz claims that doublespeak is a major contributing factor to the decline of
the English language as it limits our ability to think crucially. Ultimately, doublespeak is a dangerous
phenomenon, and each form of doublespeak comes with its own danger. Doublespeak is language that
is not technically a lie but is not the full truth either. As described by Lutz, Doublespeak is language
that pretends to communicate but really doesn t (347). Doublespeak is the incongruity between what is

Lutz defines jargon as the specialized language of a trade, profession, or similar group (349). This is
necessary for professionals to be able to communicate effectively with people of the same profession.
On the other hand, jargon can be used pretentiously, making simple concepts appear more complex
than they need to be in order to impress an audience. Even something as simple as smelling can be
turned into medical sounding nonsense organoleptic analysis (Lutz, 349). When professionals use this
language around people that would not be expected to know what they mean, it is purposely
confusing. Consequently, this causes people to overlook important details because they cannot
comprehend them. Thirdly, gobbledygook is a matter of piling on words, of overwhelming the
audience with words (Lutz, 350). This makes people seem cultured and reputable. It sounds
impressive as a speech, but then makes no sense when it is fully analyzed as a text. People who speak
like this ultimately come across as knowing nothing about what they are saying. This was especially
prevalent in NASA s shuttle program, which ultimately led to the Challenger disaster in 1986.
Gobbledygook is dangerous because people do not want to admit that they cannot comprehend the
text, so they just go along with whatever is said to protect their pride. Finally, inflated language is used
to give an air of importance to people, situations, or

By slipping it into our food without our knowledge, without any indication that there are genetically
modified organisms in our food, we are now unwittingly part of a massive experiment says journalist

mention their ethical violation of nature. GMOs are considered to be as safe as their traditional
counterparts according to the FDA and are generally regulated (U.S. Food and Drug Administration),
the FDA does not refer to this category of foods as GMOs, but rather as GEs, genetically engineered.
Perhaps their reluctance to use the term GMO is intentional and to disassociate the products with the
infamous negative connotations. The following quote is from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration

Professors might contend on the issue of academic freedom. However, obscenity is prevalent in the
book Fun Home and is gratuitously portrayed through the graphic. This could violate the moral
principles of some students. By incorporating this book in the curriculum, the professors would not be

sexual matters in a way that infringes on standards of decency and morality. However, the extent to
which it contravenes the standards of morality is entirely subjective. My interpretation derives from a
Supreme Court ruling that concluded in a 1966 case that in order to establish obscenity, the content

Studies show that eight billion invoices paid by check cost U.S. businesses $100 billion in annual

Most B2B companies struggle to implement electronic payment systems primarily because of the
challenges of integrating with out of the box accounting software and antiquated legacy systems.
However, 91 percent of all adults now use mobile phones and can easily pay companies directly with
check cards, credit cards or other mobile payment options.[2] Customizing a B2B website for multiple
payment options provides long term benefits that will only increase with time and enable increased
automation of company processes. These include automated options for recurring billing, interactive

and Virtual Negotiation technology for speeding agreements and handling payment disputes. Mobile
payments grew more than 9 percent annually in 2013 and now account for more than 40 percent of

Liquidity Risk, Distinctions Between Asset Liquidity And...
Excusive summary
This report is designed to investigate liquidity risk, distinctions between asset liquidity and liability
liquidity management, as well as the main features of an effective liquidity management. In order to
gain insight of liquidity, there is a graph based on the liquidity ratio to analyze the liquidity risk of
four major banks in Australia and the advantages and disadvantages of the liquidity ratio.
Furthermore, it outlines how Basel III effects the banking liquidity management.
Introduction
In recent years, liquidity risk has become the public problem to the commercial banks. Bank for
International Settlement (2008) indicates that the most of bank failures happened with the reason that
the liquidity can not satisfy the demand, therefore, the liquidity risk is the most basic aspect of risk
management. Moreover, the production and implementation of Basel III is able to address the liquidity
risk effectively by applying two ratios which are LCR and NSFR.
1.0 Liquidity risk and liquidity management
1.1 define liquidity risk
Liquidity risk refers to the bank s ability to meet maturing obligations as deposits come due and quick
processing the assets into cash with minimum loss or being able to get enough funds when necessary
and processing profitable securities trading by using available funds (Gup, 2007, p19). The reasons for
liquidity risk occurs can be concluded in two aspects, which are asset side and liability side. On the

Instead of the hand picked, curated diversity that sometimes plagues schools, this encounter

diversity are ill equipped to handle real life diversity because they have never learned how to deal with
it. Having been presented with opportunities to handle diversity in my past, I am able to manage it in
everyday life, which is a vital skill crucial to becoming a functioning part of

Equal Employment Opportunity And Hrm
Introduction As a means to better understand equal employment opportunity and HRM, one can
examine the reasonable accommodations employers must make in regards to religion and disability. In
regards to such, some of the accommodations can be described, the agency responsible for such
enforcement can be examined, and two specific private sector workplace examples of religious and
disability accommodation can be noted. Through the examination of these concepts one can gain a
better understanding of equal employment opportunity and HRM. Accommodation Expectations
When taking into consideration the employment of those with disabilities or that are religious, one
ought to understand that there are several provisions established by the federal government that
stipulates the accommodations necessary to meet their specific needs. In regards to those with
disabilities there are several accommodations that employers must meet to remain within compliance
of the law. According to the EEOC, These include: making existing facilities accessible; job
restructuring; part time or modified work schedules; acquiring or modifying equipment; changing
tests, training materials, or policies; providing qualified readers or interpreters; and reassignment to a
vacant position (para. 2). Through incorporating these concepts into company policy, an organization
will fail to fall out of compliance. In terms of religious accommodation, an employer is obliged to take
into consideration the accommodation

The Departed And Infernal Affairs
After watching both films, it is safe to say that Infernal Affairs out ranks the Departed by a substantial
amount. The Departed is an American remake of the Chinese film Infernal Affairs. Both movies reveal
the secret life of moles for a gang and the police force. Even though the Departed stays pretty close to
the original screenplay, there are some differences that both add to each film and takes away from the
plot. In all, besides their differences, the Departed and Infernal Affairs both create a thrilling story of
the mafia. The first major difference that caught my eye is the similar love interest in the Departed. In
this rendition, Billy Costigan (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Colin Sullivan (Matt Damon) both share an
interest with the police psychiatrist. This adds a unique way to connect the characters. Throughout the
film, Billy and Colin never met or interacted with each other. However, with both of them visiting the
psychiatrist, it provides them with a connection. This creates a sense of knowledge to the audience. It
gives a sense of a what if scenario. When I learned of this same love interest, I kept thinking what if
they both decided to meet her at the same time, what would happen . This gave me a suspense not like
other murder thrillers, but more of a what if they finally meet moment.
Another difference that is noteworthy is when the police chief is thrown off the building by the gang
members. The Departed created a more realistic scene to me rather than

Captain Knows Analysis
Often times in a theatre troupe, three different groups tend to stand out amongst the crowd. In this
troupe, there are the Captain Knows how s, the Diamond Shiner s, and the Queen s of Drama. They all
have their perks, except when their special instincts take over and steal the show.
The first group is the Captain Knows how s. This group is often the shy, quiet personality in the whole
troupe. However, if the director needs a task done they always find this group. No matter what, or how
hard the task is, the Captain Knows how s will never cease to amaze. Beware, they may seem friendly,
but if caught in the midst of them and without a tool in hand, know that death is near. This group is
also known to be blessed with patience , because they sit with the Queens of Drama when they need a
hand. Nevertheless, this group knows how to get the job done and a phrase commonly heard is, Trust
me, I know how, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This group is slightly more terrifying, because they are time ticking, music making machines. Be
careful in speaking with a member of this group because you may lose the love of a song, due to their
excessive use of lyrics in their speech and constant bursting out in rhymes, they often stick to their
group with the occasional conversation with an outsider. Just because they sing every song ever
written, does not imply that they can remember every song. However, if started in the right track they
will sing the lyrics until they are threatened to stop. These individuals are also mainly the ones that are
seen as the leads in a play production. They are secretly hated by everyone, but everyone knows that
no other person could fill that role the

Frodo Baggins Lord Of The Rings Hero s Life Cycle
The life of a hero fits a certain pattern. Different heroes from different mythologies all seem to follow
the same events in their lives. In the film, Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, the life of
Frodo Baggins follows this pattern. In the film, Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring Frodo
Baggins parents died when he was at an early age. Ever since he has been living with his cousin Bilbo
Baggins; he goes on a journey to Rivendell with his 3 friends, Sam, Meriadoc and Peregrin and finally
destroys the ring in the land of Mordor. Thus, Frodo Baggins follows the 3 essential characteristics of
a hero s life.
In the film, Lord of the rings; The Fellowship of the Ring Frodo Baggins parents Drogo Baggins and
Primula Brandybuck had been killed in a boating accident when Frodo was 12. Frodo then spent 9
years living with his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When he was 21 his cousin Bilbo Baggins adopted him. He and Bilbo shared the same birthday on the
22nd of September. Frodo was grown up to know there is only good in Middle Earth. Frodo s parents
dying is a common start to the hero quest cycle.
Like other heroes he starts by refusing to the call and says, why did the ring come to me . Frodo
Baggins begins his journey to save Middle Earth from Sauron and his army. In this journey, Frodo
must first go to Rivendell to be part of the council meeting with his 3 hobbit friends. Before his
journey, Gandalf tells him to stop at Bree a small town in the middle of Rivendell and the Shire. On
his way, he encounters the Nazgul, Sauron s strongest warriors. Sauron sent them to find the ring and
bring it back to him. After almost dying several times they finally made it to Bree. Frodo put on the
ring in a near by Restaurant and the Nazgul had sensed the ring has been put on in Bree. The Nazgul
rushed their horses to Bree. A ranger that was in the

  • 2. A Subarachnoid Hemorrhages A Subarachnoid Hemorrhage, or SAH, is devastating and usually has a traumatic outcome. Basically, an SAH is bleeding that occurs between the brain and what surrounds it. This surrounding area is known as the arachnoid, thus the reasoning behind the name. The main cause of SAH is cerebral, or brain aneurysms, because aneurysms usually have more fragile walls than normal vessels, putting them at more of a risk to rupture. Subarachnoid hemorrhages are not something to be taken lightly, as they have many dangers. Many people lack awareness of the dangers accompanied with subarachnoid hemorrhages as soon as they occur, during the treatment of them, and even with life after surviving the hemorrhage. First, as soon as a subarachnoid hemorrhage occurs, there are many dangers to consider. While a brain aneurysm may not have any symptoms, an SAH does and they are unfortunately very sudden. Since an SAH is bleeding from the arteries, the rupture causes abrupt bleeding. From The Gale Encyclopedia of Medicine, Ms. Julia Barrett describes that the immediate danger caused by subarachnoid hemorrhages would be ischemia. She states, Ischemia refers to tissue damage caused by restricted or blocked blood flow. The areas of the brain that do not receive adequate blood and oxygen can suffer irreparable injury, leading to permanent brain damage or death, thus agreeing that danger is present from the very start with subarachnoid hemorrhages (Barrett). The rapid bleeding outside of the brain ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Essay on Social Control Theory vs. Social Learning Theory Social Control Theory vs. Social Learning Theory Abstract Social control theory and social learning theory are two theories that suggest why deviant behavior is chosen to be acted upon by some individuals and not others. Both take a different stance on the issue. Social control theory suggests people s behavior is based on their bonds to society, if they have strong bonds to society they conform and if not they have a tendency to act out or become involved in criminal or deviant behavior. Social learning theory suggest that through vicarious learning people learn from observing others and based on what the observe make the choice of whether to copy those actions to obtain desired results or chose not to if ... Also to achieve many of these goals it is very helpful not to participate in delinquent behavior because it is looked upon negatively and could hinder the achievement of the goals. The third element in Hirschi bond to society is involvement. Involvement in this theory is simply the level of participation an individual actively pursues in conventional activities. Some of the activities this could include are social events, sports teams, school clubs, religious organizations, family events, or simply a job. These types of activities keep people busy and provide less time to participate or get caught up in delinquent behavior. This is especially the case for adolescents as they are highly influenced by peers who may not lead them to the best choices on how to spend their time, which could lead to deviant behavior (Simons, Simons, amp; Wallace, 2004, p. 21). The fourth and final element is belief (Simons, Simons, amp; Wallace, 2004, p. 21). Parents and teachers can play an important role in children s lives by teaching them right from wrong, moral issues, and the basic rules and laws of society. How the child comes to understand, accept, and believe in these concepts will determine how he or she acts. If the child believes in these rules and laws and accepts them he or she is more likely to follow the law and less likely to partake in delinquent behavior, the opposite holds true if he or she does not believe in the rules or do not care or fear the ... A Brief Foray Into Philosophy and the Cognitive Sciences Modern physics is divided by two descriptions of the universe: the theory of relativity and quantum mechanics. Many physicists have faith that at some point a Grand Unified Theory will be developed which will provide a unified description of the universe from subatomic particles to the movement of the planets. Like in physics, the cognitive sciences can describe the brain at different levels of abstraction. For example, neurobiologists study brain function at the level of neurons while psychologists look for the laws describing behavior and cognitive mechanisms. Also like in physics, many in these fields believe that it is possible that one day we will be able to understand complicated behaviors in terms of neuronal mechanisms. Others believe that this unification isn t possible even in theory because there is some metaphysical quality to consciousness that transcends neural firing patterns. Even if consciousness can t be described by a Grand Unified Theory of the cognitive sciences, it is apparent that many of our cognitive mechanisms and behaviors can. Mostly the cancer specialist uses the gland structure for the diagnosis of the cancer patient. Hence the glandular structure observation is very important for the cancer patient disease diagnosis. For the disease diagnosis purpose we required the microscopic image of the gland. A single gland contains thousands of tissues and cells in it, some of them may be overlapped to each other. In this paper we used the, Saliency Map Method, for the segmentation of the input image given by the user. Then we have used the Visual Signal To Noise Ratio (VSNR) Method, This method is used to detect the overlapped cells and it also plays the important role to separate the overlapped cells. The VSNR method is also helps to detect the various features of the gland like area, eccentricity and the orientation of each cells present and detect the total area covered by cells in that image. from all above observations the pathologist can easily predict the disease. In this ecosystem, the microorganisms are the primary consumers and play major role in the biogeochemical cycling of organic matters (Pomeroy 1974). The GoM ecosystem is often perturbed by natural calamities or human activities affecting the microbial community structure (Kryachko et al. 2012) and the associated nutrient cycling at all trophic levels (Pomeroy 1974; Camilli et al. 2010; Atlas and Hazen 2011). On April 20, 2010 the Macondo Blowout, the largest accidental oil spill in the GoM and the second largest in the world, released an estimated 4.9 million barrels of crude oil (Atlas and Hazen 2011). • 20. The Use Of Symbolism In Paul s Case By Willa Cather One of the finest forms of writing is the use of symbolism. This representation allows readers to signify an object, person, situation or word with a feeling or idea. Symbolism is an illustration of speech that is used when an author wants to form a certain mood or emotion. Readers find stories easier to associate with when there is a symbol in which is relatable and a multiple uses of conflict for attention grabbers. An example of symbolic imagery could be a bald eagle that represents freedom to the United States. In literature, an author utilizes figures of speech, like metaphors and allegory to explain the symbols being used. In her story Paul s Case, Willa Cather provides a short story full of lies and defeat. The story takes place firstly in Pittsburgh and later to New York, where a young man named Paul goes through life feeling hopeless and fragile. Cather begins the story with Paul meeting his teachers in the principles office while wearing a red carnation. To the teachers, the red carnation was not properly significant of the contrite spirit befitting a boy under the ban of suspension (90). Through this initial statement, analysis can be extended to include the story s frequent references to other flowers, which also symbolize Paul s desires and mirror his disconnection from the world (Crabtree). The discussion on evil and its relations to us is not an easy one though. It is commonly called the problem of evil. The problem of evil in contemporary philosophy is generally regarded as an argument for atheism. Children in famine, victims tortured by oppressors, helpless old people a hated burden to their sons, and the whole world of loneliness, poverty, and pain make a mockery of what human life should be. I long to alleviate the evil, but I cannot, and I too suffer.3 The Greek philosopher Epicurus is most likely the first recognized philosopher to ask how the existence of evil could be compatible with the nature of God (The Wrath of God 13).4 According to Epicurean philosophy, the notions of good and evil are identified with pleasure and pain respectively. The Epicurean claim is that only pleasure is good. The reason I chose Mexican hot chocolate cookies is I find this cookie super unique in taste and texture compared to other cookies. It is fairly simple to make. I learned how to make these cookies with my mother. It was not for a special occasion, we just wanted to try a new recipe. Our family often packages the cookies, three per bag, to take to the military base and distribute to the security forces folks on duty. They really appreciate being thought of. They often tease my mother saying it has been too long since she brought them by. There are stories of people hiding them from their spouse or family members. The recipe originally appeared on Martha Stewart s website. My mother made some changes to the recipe along the way. It is best to gather all of the ingredients and equipment before you begin to prepare the recipe. One important tip is to set the butter on the counter for twenty minutes before starting the recipe. We learned quickly that the temperature of the butter plays a big role in how the cookies turn out. Consequently, if the butter is too warm the cookies spread out while baking. We determined that somewhere between twenty and thirty minutes is best. The equipment needed for this recipe is: Equipment: parchment paper, a medium size bowl, a large bowl, a hand mixer or stand mixer, mixing spoon, measuring spoons, sifter, spatula, cookie scoop, fork and two cookie sheets. The construction of our nation stands on documents written in English, however English is not our official language nor has it ever been. America is a melting pot in which English is the most prominent language, followed closely by Spanish. Requiring Americans to learn Spanish is a great controversy; I strongly believe that it should be a requirement, because it improves academic achievements, career success, and cultural and social understanding. The controversy has great counter arguments such as the double standard Americans are held to, and further division of the country. Regarding the counterarguments, I still firmly believe that it should be a requirement because the integration of a second language in our schools is more beneficial to our country s success as a whole. First and foremost, the promotion of bilingualism in American school systems would greatly increase academic achievements. Some, like George Orwell in Politics and the English Language, may even argue that the English language is on the decline. In The World of Doublespeak, Lutz claims that doublespeak is a major contributing factor to the decline of the English language as it limits our ability to think crucially. Ultimately, doublespeak is a dangerous phenomenon, and each form of doublespeak comes with its own danger. Doublespeak is language that is not technically a lie but is not the full truth either. This is necessary for professionals to be able to communicate effectively with people of the same profession. Even something as simple as smelling can be turned into medical sounding nonsense organoleptic analysis (Lutz, 349). When professionals use this language around people that would not be expected to know what they mean, it is purposely confusing. Consequently, this causes people to overlook important details because they cannot comprehend them. Thirdly, gobbledygook is a matter of piling on words, of overwhelming the audience with words (Lutz, 350). This makes people seem cultured and reputable. It sounds impressive as a speech, but then makes no sense when it is fully analyzed as a text. People who speak like this ultimately come across as knowing nothing about what they are saying. This was especially prevalent in NASA s shuttle program, which ultimately led to the Challenger disaster in 1986. However, obscenity is prevalent in the book Fun Home and is gratuitously portrayed through the graphic. This could violate the moral principles of some students. By incorporating this book in the curriculum, the professors would not be redeeming social importance (Rault 100). The dictionary definition of obscenity is the depiction of sexual matters in a way that infringes on standards of decency and morality. However, the extent to which it contravenes the standards of morality is entirely subjective.
