Correlation Between Parental Affection And Positive Adult...
The Correlation between Parental Affection and Positive Adult Relationships

Research Methods, Fall 2016
The Correlation between Parental Affection and Future Adult Relationships
A recent study showed that a person s upbringing is the core foundation and influence on future
relationships. According to Currie (as cited in Tayler, 2015) it has been shown that a child s early
encounters shape the brain foundation for future behaviors. Parent to child relationship is the core
foundation in a child s development. (Butcher, R. L., Gersch, 2014) Attachment theorist John Bolby
showed that having emotional relationship with a child s main caregiver is the key foundation to that
child s personality and behavior. (as cited in Butcher, et al. 2014) A warm, positive early relationship
in a child s life leads to them developing strong emotional and social capability, which in turn directs
them into making positive future relationships with others. (Hanko, 2006) Thus, the purpose of the
present study is to establish whether positive, nurturing parental upbringing is related to positive,
successful adult romantic relationship.
Childhood Relationships A large body of research has demonstrated the importance of a strong,
nurturing parental foundation and the benefits it has on future adult companionship. (Hanko,2006 )
The type of attachment style shown by the parents influences the child s adult relationship. For

Dora Maar s Bust Of A Woman
Pablo Picasso s muse of almost ten years, Dora Maar, was depicted many times throughout his
paintings and sculptures (Riding). In his 1941 oil on canvas painting, Bust of a Woman (Dora Maar),
Picasso looked to his muse once again for inspiration. Neither one of Picasso s most famous, nor best
paintings, Bust of a Woman still tells a story of the time and place of a tumultuous artist muse
relationship encapsulated by Picasso s surrealist expression in Nazi occupied France during World
War II. On its face, Bust of a Woman appears secular Dora Maar is not obviously representative of any
sort of entity. However, Picasso did place her on a pedestal for a time and I wonder if he intentionally
back lit her, painting the light around her head and hair to depict a light aura or halo effect (Picasso).
In the top left corner of the room, the diagonal lines look like a spotlight in motion, beaming down
upon her while drawing attention to this somewhat negative space (Picasso). Behind Dora Maar, the
three walls and ceiling are reminiscent of Picasso s earlier cubism spacial ... Show more content on

Although I love the throw back to his blue period with the beautiful, swirling lines of her bodice and
the checkered skirt, I do not think that this is the best example of surrealism. Honestly, it seemed like
Picasso was rushed towards the end (I am assuming that her left hand on the right side of the painting
was the last thing that he painted, but I could be wrong). The light is different, the lines along the
outside of the hand are not crisp and it even appears as if the paint is running a bit something that such
a deliberate artist would seem to notice (Picasso). The right hand is nice with the pinkish beige upside
down V formation between the blues of the other fingers that depict strength (Picasso). Maybe he was
trying to make her left hand appear as if it was reaching out towards the viewer, but it still looks too

Introduction
Shawn Buckley (founder) and Rudy Poe (partner) open JustFoodForDogs (JFFD) in January 2011 in
the context of Newport Beach, California to facilitate production and selling of the human quality
healthy food for the dogs. In 2013, the two partners sought to expand the operations of their business
through opening a second location in West Hollywood, California. In the midst of the limited
knowledge of the local market in the new location, the two business partners questioned the capability
of the positioning, messaging strategy, and brand elements in the first location to resonate effectively
and efficiently in the new market. The purpose of this analysis is to evaluate the problem or key issue

The messaging strategy for the two founders focused on the need to promote the desired pet nutrition
as the core of the marketing tool, thus, the platform to position the firm as a dog nutrition expert. From
this perspective, the institution focused on the establishment of the brand as the source for the learning
through the integration of the library of information to the consumers through quick tips, articles, and
videos (Rapier 3). The information sought to highlight the dog nutrition, serving sizes, diet transition,
ingredient comparisons, allergies, life stages, and cost comparisons. Similarly, the strategy focused on
the identification, as well as the establishment of the relationships with the relevant brand influencers
concerning the local veterinarians. It is essential to note that these influencers were in the valuable
position regarding the interactions with the owners of the sick dogs or animals requiring unique or
special needs based on their different health issues. In the second fiscal year of operation, JFFD had
been able to experience substantive growth in comparison to their previous year. The organization was
able to achieve the optimum capacity at the first location based on the influence of the favorable
public relations and press, social media sites, and increasing base of the consumer advocates. The
encounter promoted the two business partners to open the second location. The case notes that the two
partners were living in Los Angeles area

Advantages Of Big Bang Disruption
In the era where written communication was predominantly done by postal mail, email services
offered a novel method that was not just quicker but also highly convenient. The huge and expensive
mainframes were replaced by the smaller easy to use mini computers. Pocket calculators replaced the
standard calculator while offering the same computing performance and portability. These were cases
where the disruptive innovation creates a new market and value network that dislocates the existing
market and dislodges the earlier technology.

The company combined the physical landlord model (with the subscription) and all you can eat model
to allow customers to rent all the DVDs they could in a month for a flat upfront fee. Customers were
allowed to keep the DVDs for an unlimited period of time and were not subject to the late fees. In
return, customers agreed to pay a monthly subscription fee that was recurring in nature.
Blockbuster versus Netflix: While both Blockbuster and Netflix bought movie licenses from studios,
the key area of difference is the approach towards the target audience. Namely:
While for Blockbuster, the customers had to come to the store and rent the DVDs, in the case of
Netflix, the customer orders the DVD from the convenience of their homes, which would be delivered
by US Post
Blockbuster levied a late charge for the DVDs returned post the rental period, which was one of their
major sources of revenue. Netflix on the other hand imposed no such late fees, which, although an
immense liability, was also an important reason for their immediate popularity
The only seemingly downside of Netflix was the waiting period for the users to receive the

Characteristics Of Jean Baptiste De Lamarck And Charles...
Many research scientists virtually agree as to the importance of an elucidation of evolutionary
mechanisms as the unification for acquisition and assumption of information concerning the origin,
history, and diversity of life on earth. Evolution is construed as an overall gradual development of
living organisms from differentiated pre historic to current times. It represents the process whereby
modern organisms descend from ancient ancestors. Across decades of years, evidence from
innumerable sources have indicated that the concepts put forth by Jean Baptiste de Lamarck and
Charles Darwin represents the base of scientific research in the field of evolution. However, there are
circumstantial evidence which proves that Darwin s theoretical beliefs ... Show more content on

Lamarck s theory of Inheritance of Acquired Characteristics has been disproved. This was done in two
major ways. The first is by experimentation using the scientific method. We have seen numerous real
life phenomenon and observed that changes that occur in an organism during life are not passed on to
the offspring. If a dog s back limbs are damaged and unusable, its offspring are still born with all legs
usable. This and other such examples show that Lamarck s theory does not explain how life formed
and became the way it is. Secondly, Lamarck s theory has been proven wrong by the study of genetics.
Darwin knew that traits are passed on, but he never understood how they are passed on. During the
time when Darwin published is first research on evolution, Gregor Mendel, who discovered genetics,
was just starting his experiments. However, now we know extensively about genetics, and we know
that the only way for traits to be passed on is through genes, and that genes cannot be affected by the
outside world. The only thing that can be affected is which gene sets there are in a population, and this
is determined by which individuals die and which ones live. Although Darwin won acceptance for
evolution, his efforts to establish the validity of natural selection, his primary mechanism of evolution,
were less

Cape Florida State Park Essay
Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park rests on 400 acres protected land. Occupying the southern third of
the island of Key Biscayne, this natural respite for birds and people alike falls just south of Miami
Beach. This park was rightly named for The Miami News editor who fought to protect the land and
preserve the Key in its natural state.
Along the east side of the park, one and a quarter miles of sandy beachfront boasts open views of the
Atlantic Ocean. This beautiful area offers visitors access to warm waters and white sands. With a reef
six miles offshore, the waters are protected and gentle waves lap at the feet of both children and
adults.

The park and beach claim a role in history as well. A 2004 historical marker identifies this area as part
of the National Underground Railroad Network to Freedom Trail. Using these waterways to escape to
the Bahamas and settle on the Andros Islands, this beach offered sights of a more abundant life. In the
early 1820s, 300 American slaves found freedom aboard 27 sloops and additional canoes sailing from
Florida to the Bahamas.
Cape Florida Light
Home to the Cape Florida Light, this shoreline holds even more history. Built in 1825, this light is the
oldest standing structure in Greater Miami and South Florida today. While restored years earlier, this
lighthouse was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971.
The claim to fame for this landmark is that it is the only lighthouse attacked by Indians. After the
attack, the U.S. Army built a base on these shores to protect the land and sea from more invaders.

Appalachian Spring Concert Report
Exposition IV: An Appalachian Spring, is a performance of various musicians within Virginia Tech s
School of Performing Arts. The event took place at Moss Arts Center in the Anne and Ellen Fife
theater, with musicians stationed on stage and on the side balconies. A different instrument section
played each segment of the performance, including: horn ensemble, string ensemble, bassoonists,
percussion ensemble, jazz ensemble, the Linux Laptop Orchestra, Kinect sensor and computer, and
male and female choirs. This exposition was held in order to benefit the performing arts scholarship
program at Virginia Tech, but it seemed that the performance had the goal of showing off the
individual ensemble s talents, and, in the end, combining those talents.
Growing up in the Appalachians, I have had plenty of experience with bluegrass and folk, and the
wide range of the culture that has had influences on the music. Due to my background, I ve heard two
of the three songs which were being adapted. I attended the exposition curious to see how Bigler

Installing A Realistic Wireless Sensor Network Setting
Abstract Hierarchical routing is a promising approach for point to point routing with very small
routing state. While there are many theoretical analyses and high level simulations demonstrating its
benefits, there has been little work to evaluate it in a realistic wireless sensor network setting. Based
on numerous proposed hierarchical routing infrastructures, we surveyed some hierarchical clustering
algorithms and briefly discussed them. Main purpose of this paper is to present some recent
hierarchical protocols and point out silent features of them. These routing protocols very much benefit
in prolonging network lifetime and save energy of sensor nodes.

Due to limited and non rechargeable energy provision, the energy resource of sensor networks should
be managed wisely to extend the lifetime of sensors. Sensor networks have recently emerged as a
platform for several important surveillance and control applications .Each sensor has an onboard radio
that can be used to send the collected data to interested parties. One of the advantages of wireless
sensors networks (WSNs) is their ability to operate unattended in harsh environments in which
contemporary human in the loop monitoring schemes are risky, inefficient and sometimes infeasible.
Therefore, sensors are expected to be deployed randomly in the area of interest by a relatively
uncontrolled means, e.g. dropped by a helicopter, and to collectively form a network in an ad hoc
manner. In order to achieve high energy efficiency and increase the network scalability, sensor nodes
can be organized into clusters. Data collected from sensors are sent to the cluster head first, and then
forwarded to the base station. Network lifetime can be defined as the time elapsed until the first node
(or the last node) in the network depletes its energy (dies). A number of protocols have been proposed
to reduce useful energy consumption. These protocols can be classified into three classes. Protocols in
the first class control the transmission power level at each node to increase network capacity while

Search Engine Optimization Of Search Engines Optimization...
Abstract:
Search engine optimization referred for the addition and modification of all variables and extended
variables of a website to achieve a better position in the search engines. The variables contents to
META tags and content. And the extended variables as to links from other sites. This is done in
optimization stages.
Search engine optimization is not simple method as we think. It is all about strategy, method and
structure. It can be considered as a form of engineering. SEO services may be an expensive
advertising but the output got from it is the great achievements.SEO services will increase website
sales, traffic, and exposure of a website. `
Review:
Search Engine Optimization is a field to attain all the results, we need to get updated with the
algorithms as per the time to time the all related data goes updated. This means the data updated in the
past is now the outdated one and it is with no value now so needed to change as per the demands. In
my paper, we have mentioned on following the basic recommendations and building links with
different anchor texts like article submissions, forum links, websites, blog commenting etc for
diversity in link structure. Aims and Objectives:
The actual goal of the thesis is to research on latest search engine optimization techniques for content
management based websites. And other to analyze most popular content management systems

The Apology Of Plato Apology
At the beginning of The Apology, Socrates is directly speaking to the jury in Athens. In the beginning
of the apology Socrates speaks of accusations that have been made against him throughout his life.
There seems to be two different kinds of accusations. The first being biases accusations that have been
made on throughout his past and the other being recent accusations. Socrates explains he was accused
of being, a wise man, a student of all things in the sky and below the earth, who makes the worse
argument the stronger. He is also accused of persuading the individuals from the time he was a young
child. He sincerely believes he should not be at the trail, and that all these accusations are merely
false. Socrates is also accused of being a Sophist similar to Prodicus of Ceos and Hippias of Elis. Due
to rumors and prejudices, it seems that the jury has already decided the fate of Socrates, which is
ultimately death. As I read through the first part of his speech, I felt a sense of hopelessness as if a
room was filling with water with no way out. It is never enjoyable to be accused of something that I
may not have done, especially if the consequence is death. Furthermore, Socrates is also accused of
corrupting the youth, and not believing in the Athenian Gods. Basically, accused of being an atheist.
At this point there is dialogue between Socrates and a man named Meletus. In the past Meletus has
been known to be irresponsible along with bringing unsuitable cases to

The Legality And Morality Of Abortion
The legality and morality of abortion is a huge topic in today s society. Are there ever times when it is
justified? Who has a say in the matter of whether or not it is justified? How does one know how to
justify abortion? Given a particular pregnancy, who should decide whether or not it ought to be
terminated? (Jaggar, 218) People argue over whether or not the unborn child has the right to life or
does the woman have the right to her own body. Other party s possibly involved are the state, medical
practitioners performing the abortion, and, of course, the father. There are clearly several parties that
have a stake in being involved in the decision.
In this paper I will be analyzing an article written by one woman that believes that there do exist
conditions under which the termination of a pregnancy could be justified. Furthermore she believes
that the right to that decision making belongs to the woman bearing the unborn child. In her article she
choses not to include utilitarian arguments for two reasons, first because, according to her, most of
them support her argument. Her second reason was that the main opposing utilitarian argument would
likely result in the involuntary termination of pregnancies by the state for reasons of population
control in todays society. Not only are there many people that might have a say in whether or not an
abortion should be performed but also there are many circumstances that could have an impact upon
the morality of and

Helen Keller Metaphor
Helen Keller, who was born on June 27th, 1880 and died June 1st, 1968, was one of the most
important people of her time. She accomplished so much in fields such as literature and politics. The
fact that she was able to do so much with her life is impressive not only in the fact that she was a
woman, but more impressive due to the fact that she became blind and deaf at only eighteen months
old. Through the help of Anne Sullivan though, Keller, was able to learn so much. This short story,
The Day Language Came into My Life, is an excerpt from her autobiography, where she recalls her
memories from when she first learned about language. In her story, Keller, uses a unique metaphor to
describe what it was like going from no language to having a language. She does this by comparing
herself to a boat in a dense fog with no compass or sounding line, who was just lost at sea in a tangible
darkness, and then the light came into her world. This light that meant so much to Keller was the love
of her teacher, Anne Sullivan. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the most prominent examples is when she smashes the doll on the ground because she had not
loved the doll because in that world she had not known love. Later in the story though after she has
learned of love she goes back to the doll she has destroyed and for the first time feels sorrow. The doll
represents Keller and how before the light comes she is angry and broken but then after the light she
feels more complete, even though the doll doesn t get fixed completely. One other example is the time
when she feels water and learns what it is called, and suddenly feels awakened, hopeful, and even free.
All in all, Helen Keller s use of metaphor is very effective in describing her experience. Through her
metaphor she conveys how language and love come into her life and push out all of the fog and
completely change her world for the better, giving her hope, happiness, and the feeling of

within the immediate environment, with the board of directors, with potential investors, extended
department employees, the media and of course an online presence. When holding the position of
Public Relations, one wants the hospital staff s support. There are instances that will be challenging
and the Public Relations manager seeks to have everyone on the same page. The board of directors
have great power; they can bring a project down in no time. A Public Relations Manager also wants to
have a working knowledge of new technology which might require him to engage in networking
beyond the local area. Experts have noted networking stimulates stakeholders to engage in
international exchange to gain new knowledge and experiences as well as presenting their work
abroad and to further exchange (Klemenc Ketiš Kersnik, 2014). In this way, the Public Relations
Manager wants to be valued by the board in that they know the manager has knowledge of technology
investments that could benefit the hospital. As a Public Relations Manager, one wants a working
relationships with the media. The media can be harsh. Should there be a local crisis the Public

Biosynthesis of glycyrrhizin is not fully elucidated at gene level. The early stages of triterpenoid
saponin biosynthesis via isoprenoid pathway involve the dimerization of two molecules of farnesyl
diphosphate catalyzed by squalene synthase, epoxidase mediated oxidation then produces 2,3
oxidosqualene. The first diversifying step in triterpenoid biosynthesis is the cyclization of 2,3
oxidosqualene a common substrate of oxidosqualene cyclases (OSCs) and a precursor of both
triterpenes and sterols [Abe et al., 1993]. The biosynthesis of glycyrrhizin involves the initial
cyclization of 2, 3 oxidosqualene by a specific OSC, β amyrin synthase (bAS), to the primarily
oleanane triterpene β amyrin which is one of the most commonly occurring triterpenes in plants. The
subsequent steps involve a series of oxidative reactions at positions C 11 (two step oxidation) and C
30 (three step oxidation), followed by glycosyl transfers to the C 3 hydroxyl group.
Genes involved in the early stages of glycyrrhizin biosynthesis, namely, squalene synthase and bAS,
have been functionally isolated from G. glabra [Hayashi et al., 1999, 2001]. The bAS gene has also
been functionally isolated from several other plants including Arabidopsis thaliana [Shibuya et al.,

Dna And Protein Synthesis Essay
DNA and Protein Synthesis
One of the most fundamental properties of any and all living organisms is that of reproduction. As we
all have learned, organisms inherit their genetic information defining their structure and functions
from their parents. Similarly, all cells come from preexisting cells, so the genetic information is
duplicated and pass from the parent to the new cell of each division.
DNA is the term that is used in biology, as well as several other parts of your everyday life. We all
know that DNA is a part of our bodies, but may wonder what exactly is DNA. DNA which is also
known as deoxyribonucleic acid, which is the genetic material of a cell. DNA is considered to be the
molecule of life, and aides in the determination of our physical characteristics. DNA is present in all
living organisms.
It is said that the process of protein synthesis is controlled by the DNA molecules. Proteins are used
for growth and repair, as well as enzymes. Thus, DNA is able to apply some controlling influence over
the cells as a whole, and ultimately the organism as well. In DNA, the segments which hold the vital
key to this process are referred to as the genes.
In the early 1940 s, two American geneticists by the names of George Wells Beadle, and Edward
Lawrie Tatum provided one of the first vital clues. While they were working with fungi, more
specifically Nuerospora and Penicillium, they found information regarding genes and how they direct
the formation of enzymes through the

contemporary scholars do, Lahr reads Menagerie as biographical portraits of his mother and sister
when they lived in St. Louis, Streetcar drawing from his experience in New Orleans and his
tempestuous relationship with Pancho Rodriguez, Cat referencing Williams s uneasy relationship with
his father, and Suddenly Last Summer documenting both his experiences with therapy and his sister s

At the same time, it seems impossible to deny Menagerie was in some way based on Williams s life;
he drew from his experiences in St. Louis crafting Amanda after his mother Edwina and Laura after
his sister Rose. The use of his family members for models of this early work is undeniable. However,
the over emphasis of Williams s use of autobiography helps situate Menagerie as naturalistic because
Williams was drawing from real memories. While Williams was inspired by his personal life in some
regards, his contribution to literature was never a faithful reconstruction of his personal history.
Williams was inspired by his personal life in some regards, but his additions to literature were never a
faithful reconstruction of personal history. Williams s brother Dakin recalls his mother Edwina did not
recognize herself as Amanda when she saw Menagerie:
Edwina went backstage to congratulate Laurette on her performance. The actress was sitting with her
feet up on the radiator, keeping warm. To quote Edwina: Before I had a chance to get out a word, she
greeted me: How did you like you seff, Miz Williams? I was so shocked I didn t know what to say ...
And even afterward, Edwina said, I am not Amanda. The only resemblance I have to Amanda is that
we both like jonquils.
Dakin also distinguished between their sister Rose and the character of Laura noted several differences

Schell S Zero Homeless Family Strategy
Background Homelessness is a societal issues caused from deinstitutionalization, mental illness,
changes in the family structure, economics, violence, and personal crisis. Homelessness is not a local
problem; it is a national (and international) public health crisis. Most statistics show, in fact, that there
are about 8 10,000 individuals living in Seattle (King County) without shelter each and every night.
This may, in fact, be a low estimate, since it is based on one night only, and does not county every area
of the County (Heim, 2009). Within the Greater Seattle Area, many homeless have chronic health
issues. Diabetes is common, often based on alcohol or substance abuse, and over half have some form
of cardiovascular disease, 25% mental health issues. Many have developmental disabilities, and at
least 10% HIV. In 2008, the records reported show that there were over 100 attacks on the homeless,
almost 30 fatal, based on race, religion, or sexual orientation, causing the Seattle City Council to pass
a measure indicating that harassing a homeless person is a hate crime (Ten Year Plan, 2011).
Part 1 Policy Choices Seattle Mayor Paul Schell had a variety of options that were possible mitigating
factors in addressing homelessness in Seattle. The King County Community Homelessness Advisory
Council had already developed strategies that Scholl could use to combat the problem. For example,
the City could improve maintenance, but not increase the existing shelter build out or

Drunk Driving In Texas
People in the Houston area, and throughout the state of Texas, are commonly arrested for suspicion of
drunk driving. In fact, the state s Department of Public Safety reports that there were 89,256 people
arrested for driving under the influence in 2012 alone. Often, those facing such charges choose to
forego hiring an attorney, and instead handle their legal issues on their own. Even for those facing first
time offenses, however, it may be useful to obtain legal representation.
Familiarity with the legal rules and standards
For some, drunk driving charges can be confusing. This is because the charges people may face, and
the potential penalties, vary based on a number of factors, including their blood alcohol content levels.
Unlike the average person, DUI attorneys are typically well versed in the legal rules and standards
pertaining to alcohol related offenses. Therefore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, they understand the factors that may compromise field sobriety tests and breath tests.
Thus, it may be helpful for drivers who have been arrested for DUI to obtain legal representation. An
attorney may question the accuracy of these types of tests, as well as whether their rights were upheld
during the traffic stops that led to their arrests.
Dealing with the consequences
If convicted of drunk driving in Texas, people face a range of potential penalties. According to the
state s Department of Transportation, these consequences may include jail time, a driver s license
suspension, and fines and fees. With few exceptions, DUI lawyers are familiar with these penalties,
and how they are typically imposed. Additionally, they may have knowledge of other options, which
may limit the legal repercussions people face if convicted of this offense. In some cases, for example,
an attorney may be able to negotiate for his client to be enrolled in an alcohol treatment program in
lieu of jail time.

Critical Analysis Of Binsey Poplars By Gerard Manley...
Right now, many forests are being relentlessly decimated in order to meet our needs. In the poem
Binsey Poplars written by Gerard Manley Hopkins in 1879, the speaker considers this issue while
lamenting over the destruction of a line of poplar trees. In this essay, I will argue that the poem shows
mankind s own fragility through the felling of the trees because of the speaker s emphasis on the
contrast between nature and its destruction and the way nature and humans are associated with the use
of imagery and figurative language. I will first examine the poem s sorrowful tone and the way the
text s content opposes nature s beauty and its deforestation caused by humans. Then, I will analyze
how the poem s form support this opposition through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The speaker uses this event to expand his view on the way mankind destroys nature without meaning
to. In the second and third stanzas, we are actually blamed for this irreversible damage, as seen in O if
we but knew what we do / When we delve or hew (9 10) and To mend her we end her (16). By using
the first person plural pronoun, the speaker includes not only themselves, but also the reader, who is
also a human being, and in a general sense, part of mankind. However, humans are not only the agent
of destruction, but the object of it as well. For instance, the repetition of the letter l in All felled, felled,
are all felled (3) may form a visual representation of a line of trees, or a line of people. Moreover,
there is a personification of nature throughout the poem; according to the speaker, nature is a woman,
as said in Since country is so tender / To touch, her being so slender (12 13) and To mend her we end
her (17). Whereas there are some neutral correlations between human beings and the natural world,
they are also linked through the pain and damage that is inflicted to them. Hack rack (11) are
originally aimed at the growing green (11). However, those verbs are associated to prick (15) and
sleek (14) as well due to the consonance of the sound ck . As a consequence of that association, the
sleek and seeing ball (14), the human eye (15), feels the brutality of the tree felling,

Pawni Tribe Research Paper
The Pawnee people lived in what is now Oklahoma and Nebraska. The Pawnee people spoke the
Caddoan language, and they spoke to other tribes in the area using sign language. The Pawnee made
houses out of earth, which protected them from the elements. The Pawnee people had a traditional diet
plain tribe diet, which consisted of buffalo and vegetable. The most ghastly thing about them is that
they sacrificed humans! Daily life, diet, and the practice of human sacrifice are four important aspects
to understand the Pawnee People. The Pawnee lived in stationary houses except when they went on
buffalo hunts. They lived on the plains and since there were no trees on the plains shelter was difficult.
The Pawnee were able to overcome the issue by make earth lodges. They made the lodges by putting
polls in a circle, and having the tops be forked (Alchin). Then, they put crossbeams on in and filled in
the holes with reeds and grass, they then covered the structure in earth. The finished product would be
oval shaped (Alchin). The lodges were able to stow 30 to 50 people in one lodge, and there were about
15 lodges in every village (The Pawnee Indian Tribe). Inhabitants of the villages usually changed
lodges with other Pawnees, but they generally stayed in the same village (The Pawnee Indian Tribe).

Importance Of Sportsmanship In Sports
The two things that most attract me to Wellesley are the Chandler Pool and the Lulu Campus Center.
Sportsmanship is one of my defining characteristics. Having been swimming for the past three years,
the eight lane professional Chandler Pool at Wellesley attracts me deeply. Swimming has both
strengthened my perseverance and given me the spirit of collaboration and sportsmanship. I enjoy the
feeling of racing in the water, pushing myself to the finish line. Swimming has given my body power,
developed my deep thinking skills, and, most importantly, made me into a leader. As the captain of the
swimming team at my high school, I have had tough moments leading the team, because most of my
teammates are more senior than I and I am also an international student. But a loud voice without any
action won t win over team members. I changed the situation by working harder and improving my
communication skills. I practice longer hours than any other team member., and became the fastest
one in the team, although I am not the most physically fit. I volunteered to swim the 500 yards
freestyle and fought for my team to make the state meet. I constantly practice my communication
skills and improve my English. Instead of giving direct orders to team members, I help and care for
my team members. During my two week medical leave, although my doctor advised me to stay at
home and rest, I went to the swimming pool, helping the coach keep time, cheering for my team and
handing them water and towels.

Relationship Between The Crc And The Optional Protocol
1. The relationship between the CRC and the Optional Protocol is supplemental, being that the CRC is
the binding/ruling international law on children s rights and the Optional Protocol expounds and
expands upon issues that the CRC did not address sufficiently. The Optional Protocol is a separate
convention that expands on three issues: armed conflict, sale of children, and communication. States
that choose to ratify the Optional Protocol, do so by the same methods as the CRC, thus superseding
the CRC provision on that issue. Under the CRC, article 28, age fifteen was the only age that could be
agreed upon for children to participate in armed conflict, therefore, that is the minimum age; however,
the Optional Protocol convention stated that age fifteen was too low and decided that age eighteen
should be the minimum for participation in armed conflict. The Optional Protocol on the sale of
children expands on the CRC s stance on the exploitation of children. The Optional Protocol made
specific provisions on the sale of children in the sexual context such as prostitution and pornography.
It outlines the measures that States should take in protecting children rom sexual exploitation. The
Optional Protocol on communication is fairly new and it recognizes children s rights to bring
grievances on the violation of their rights to the committee. It also outlines ways that States and
governments can help children submit their claims. 2a. Haiti reported that street children in

Jury System
The Jury System
CLU 3M1
By: Khalil Meghji
The jury system has been used for thousands of years to fairly determine innocence or guilt in a trial.
Although not utilized as much as in the past it is still used for most criminal and some civil cases. This
leads to an unjust legal system full of bias. The jury system was first seen in use by the ancient Greeks
thousands of years ago[1]. Though the system was the fairest way to produce a verdict, it cannot apply
today because society has endured a change which taints the foundation of a fair trial by jury. Juries
are much more open to tampering by interested parties through which can be undetected by the ...

This can alter the impact of evidence or testimony and the juror cannot make an informed decision.
The jury is not familiar with the law which can lead to confusion about different legal terms, what
evidence is considered circumstantial and how to exclude that from their decision after seeing it in
court. A jury comprised of the general public are also much more open to being influenced by how a
lawyer presents their case and not by evidence. Since the jury does not have any knowledge of
forensics they can be influenced by expert witnesses put on the stand by both the defense and the
prosecution which are completely contradictory.
The jury system has been used for thousands of years however, there are more logical and economical
methods to judge innocence or guilt fairly. While the jury system is not only taxing on the government
s resources it is also very difficult for the juror s. A juror in Canada is not compensated for trials under
10 days, if a trial runs from 11 49 days they get forty dollars a day, after 49 days the juror s receive
one hundred dollars per day[6]. To put a working citizen in the position of losing up to ten days pay to
serve in jury duty is very difficult. Being put into jury duty potentially carries other costs such as
childcare and transportation which is not covered by the government.
The jury system has been in use for thousands of years and has produced many fair verdicts. This

McDonald s has remained in the status of being one the most successful big companies during this

envy (Adamy, 2009). Even in this tough economy, McDonald s was able to maintain profitability with
it cheap dollar menu. Part of its business strategy is its plan to phase out certain items to try to create a
healthier image for itself. The company is also planning other menu changes such as switching the

The Effect of Pesticide Runoffs on the Everglades

from the insecticides cuts off the air supply of oxygen which birds initially require to survive.
Farmland bird species is on decline because of ill advised changes in farming techniques. These
include increased agrochemical inputs and loss of mixture farming. In order to preserve the existence
of birds in our environment, the government should generally integrate crop management techniques.
These methods include; selective pesticides, avoiding spraying in during breeding season and when
crops and weeds are in flower, and then minimise spray drift or creation of headlands. When these

Alice Walker s Themes In Everyday Use By Alice Walker
Alice Walkers short story, Everyday Use, is a story that focuses on ones heritage, dignity and to figure
out the person that one really is. The story is narrated by Mama, who is Dee and Maggies mother. The
setting of the story mostly takes in place in the yard of the house between the 1960s and 1970s. Upon
reading the story, the reader is given a clear description of what the yard is like. Mama tells us, A yard
like this is more comfortable than most people know. It is not just a yard. It is like an extended living
room. When the hard clay is swept clean as a floor and the fine sand around the edges lined with tiny,
irregular grooves, anyone can come and sit and look up into the elm tree and wait for the breezes that

At one point Dee started pointing out things that she was going to take back with her to decorate her
house with. One of the items was a butter churn that had been passed along many generations and had
imprints of the people who had used it. Mama said, You didn t even have to look close to see where
hands pushing the dasher up and down to make butter had left a kind of sink in the wood. In fact, there
were a lot of small sinks; you could see where thumbs and fingers had sunk into the wood. Dee wasn t
aware of how long this churn had been the family which shows how much she wanted to run away
from her heritage. One of the most important symbols used in Everyday Use was the quilts, which to
Dee had no significant value before she had gone off to college; however, towards the end of the story
Dee requested to have the quilts after leaving them behind when going off to college, saying that she
was the only one who could appreciate them. Maggie being as kind hearted and shy as she was said
that Dee could have the quilts, Mama refused saying that she had already promised Maggie the quilts.
The quilts symbolize the family heritage and what the family went through during slavery. Mama
says, In both of [the quilts] were scraps of dresses Grandma Dee had worn fifty and more years

  • 2. Correlation Between Parental Affection And Positive Adult... The Correlation between Parental Affection and Positive Adult Relationships Teena John The University of Texas at Tyler Research Methods, Fall 2016 The Correlation between Parental Affection and Future Adult Relationships A recent study showed that a person s upbringing is the core foundation and influence on future relationships. According to Currie (as cited in Tayler, 2015) it has been shown that a child s early encounters shape the brain foundation for future behaviors. Parent to child relationship is the core foundation in a child s development. (Butcher, R. L., Gersch, 2014) Attachment theorist John Bolby showed that having emotional relationship with a child s main caregiver is the key foundation to that child s personality and behavior. (as cited in Butcher, et al. 2014) A warm, positive early relationship in a child s life leads to them developing strong emotional and social capability, which in turn directs them into making positive future relationships with others. (Hanko, 2006) Thus, the purpose of the present study is to establish whether positive, nurturing parental upbringing is related to positive, successful adult romantic relationship. In his 1941 oil on canvas painting, Bust of a Woman (Dora Maar), Picasso looked to his muse once again for inspiration. Neither one of Picasso s most famous, nor best paintings, Bust of a Woman still tells a story of the time and place of a tumultuous artist muse relationship encapsulated by Picasso s surrealist expression in Nazi occupied France during World War II. On its face, Bust of a Woman appears secular Dora Maar is not obviously representative of any sort of entity. However, Picasso did place her on a pedestal for a time and I wonder if he intentionally back lit her, painting the light around her head and hair to depict a light aura or halo effect (Picasso). The light is different, the lines along the outside of the hand are not crisp and it even appears as if the paint is running a bit something that such a deliberate artist would seem to notice (Picasso). Many research scientists virtually agree as to the importance of an elucidation of evolutionary mechanisms as the unification for acquisition and assumption of information concerning the origin, history, and diversity of life on earth. Evolution is construed as an overall gradual development of living organisms from differentiated pre historic to current times. It represents the process whereby modern organisms descend from ancient ancestors. Lamarck s theory of Inheritance of Acquired Characteristics has been disproved. This was done in two major ways. The first is by experimentation using the scientific method. We have seen numerous real life phenomenon and observed that changes that occur in an organism during life are not passed on to the offspring. If a dog s back limbs are damaged and unusable, its offspring are still born with all legs usable. This and other such examples show that Lamarck s theory does not explain how life formed and became the way it is. Secondly, Lamarck s theory has been proven wrong by the study of genetics. Darwin knew that traits are passed on, but he never understood how they are passed on. During the time when Darwin published is first research on evolution, Gregor Mendel, who discovered genetics, was just starting his experiments. However, now we know extensively about genetics, and we know that the only way for traits to be passed on is through genes, and that genes cannot be affected by the outside world. The only thing that can be affected is which gene sets there are in a population, and this is determined by which individuals die and which ones live. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to limited and non rechargeable energy provision, the energy resource of sensor networks should be managed wisely to extend the lifetime of sensors. Sensor networks have recently emerged as a platform for several important surveillance and control applications .Each sensor has an onboard radio that can be used to send the collected data to interested parties. One of the advantages of wireless sensors networks (WSNs) is their ability to operate unattended in harsh environments in which contemporary human in the loop monitoring schemes are risky, inefficient and sometimes infeasible. Therefore, sensors are expected to be deployed randomly in the area of interest by a relatively uncontrolled means, e.g. dropped by a helicopter, and to collectively form a network in an ad hoc manner. In order to achieve high energy efficiency and increase the network scalability, sensor nodes can be organized into clusters. Data collected from sensors are sent to the cluster head first, and then forwarded to the base station. Network lifetime can be defined as the time elapsed until the first node (or the last node) in the network depletes its energy (dies). A number of protocols have been proposed to reduce useful energy consumption. These protocols can be classified into three classes. Protocols in the first class control the transmission power level at each node to increase network capacity while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Socrates explains he was accused of being, a wise man, a student of all things in the sky and below the earth, who makes the worse argument the stronger. He is also accused of persuading the individuals from the time he was a young child. He sincerely believes he should not be at the trail, and that all these accusations are merely false. As I read through the first part of his speech, I felt a sense of hopelessness as if a room was filling with water with no way out. (Jaggar, 218) People argue over whether or not the unborn child has the right to life or does the woman have the right to her own body. Her second reason was that the main opposing utilitarian argument would likely result in the involuntary termination of pregnancies by the state for reasons of population control in todays society. She accomplished so much in fields such as literature and politics. The fact that she was able to do so much with her life is impressive not only in the fact that she was a woman, but more impressive due to the fact that she became blind and deaf at only eighteen months old. Through the help of Anne Sullivan though, Keller, was able to learn so much. This short story, The Day Language Came into My Life, is an excerpt from her autobiography, where she recalls her memories from when she first learned about language. In her story, Keller, uses a unique metaphor to describe what it was like going from no language to having a language. The early stages of triterpenoid saponin biosynthesis via isoprenoid pathway involve the dimerization of two molecules of farnesyl diphosphate catalyzed by squalene synthase, epoxidase mediated oxidation then produces 2,3 oxidosqualene. The first diversifying step in triterpenoid biosynthesis is the cyclization of 2,3 oxidosqualene a common substrate of oxidosqualene cyclases (OSCs) and a precursor of both triterpenes and sterols [Abe et al., 1993]. The biosynthesis of glycyrrhizin involves the initial cyclization of 2, 3 oxidosqualene by a specific OSC, β amyrin synthase (bAS), to the primarily oleanane triterpene β amyrin which is one of the most commonly occurring triterpenes in plants. The subsequent steps involve a series of oxidative reactions at positions C 11 (two step oxidation) and C 30 (three step oxidation), followed by glycosyl transfers to the C 3 hydroxyl group. • 18. Dna And Protein Synthesis Essay DNA and Protein Synthesis One of the most fundamental properties of any and all living organisms is that of reproduction. As we all have learned, organisms inherit their genetic information defining their structure and functions from their parents. Similarly, all cells come from preexisting cells, so the genetic information is duplicated and pass from the parent to the new cell of each division. DNA is the term that is used in biology, as well as several other parts of your everyday life. We all know that DNA is a part of our bodies, but may wonder what exactly is DNA. DNA which is also known as deoxyribonucleic acid, which is the genetic material of a cell. DNA is considered to be the molecule of life, and aides in the determination of our physical characteristics. DNA is present in all living organisms. It is said that the process of protein synthesis is controlled by the DNA molecules. Proteins are used for growth and repair, as well as enzymes. Thus, DNA is able to apply some controlling influence over the cells as a whole, and ultimately the organism as well. In DNA, the segments which hold the vital key to this process are referred to as the genes. In the early 1940 s, two American geneticists by the names of George Wells Beadle, and Edward Lawrie Tatum provided one of the first vital clues. While they were working with fungi, more specifically Nuerospora and Penicillium, they found information regarding genes and how they direct the formation of enzymes through the ... Most statistics show, in fact, that there are about 8 10,000 individuals living in Seattle (King County) without shelter each and every night. This may, in fact, be a low estimate, since it is based on one night only, and does not county every area of the County (Heim, 2009). Within the Greater Seattle Area, many homeless have chronic health issues. Diabetes is common, often based on alcohol or substance abuse, and over half have some form of cardiovascular disease, 25% mental health issues. Many have developmental disabilities, and at least 10% HIV. In 2008, the records reported show that there were over 100 attacks on the homeless, almost 30 fatal, based on race, religion, or sexual orientation, causing the Seattle City Council to pass a measure indicating that harassing a homeless person is a hate crime (Ten Year Plan, 2011). Part 1 Policy Choices Seattle Mayor Paul Schell had a variety of options that were possible mitigating factors in addressing homelessness in Seattle. The King County Community Homelessness Advisory Council had already developed strategies that Scholl could use to combat the problem. • 23. Critical Analysis Of Binsey Poplars By Gerard Manley... Right now, many forests are being relentlessly decimated in order to meet our needs. In the poem Binsey Poplars written by Gerard Manley Hopkins in 1879, the speaker considers this issue while lamenting over the destruction of a line of poplar trees. In this essay, I will argue that the poem shows mankind s own fragility through the felling of the trees because of the speaker s emphasis on the contrast between nature and its destruction and the way nature and humans are associated with the use of imagery and figurative language. I will first examine the poem s sorrowful tone and the way the text s content opposes nature s beauty and its deforestation caused by humans. Then, I will analyze how the poem s form support this opposition through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The speaker uses this event to expand his view on the way mankind destroys nature without meaning to. In the second and third stanzas, we are actually blamed for this irreversible damage, as seen in O if we but knew what we do / When we delve or hew (9 10) and To mend her we end her (16). By using the first person plural pronoun, the speaker includes not only themselves, but also the reader, who is also a human being, and in a general sense, part of mankind. However, humans are not only the agent of destruction, but the object of it as well. For instance, the repetition of the letter l in All felled, felled, are all felled (3) may form a visual representation of a line of trees, or a line of people. Moreover, there is a personification of nature throughout the poem; according to the speaker, nature is a woman, as said in Since country is so tender / To touch, her being so slender (12 13) and To mend her we end her (17). Whereas there are some neutral correlations between human beings and the natural world, they are also linked through the pain and damage that is inflicted to them. Hack rack (11) are originally aimed at the growing green (11). However, those verbs are associated to prick (15) and sleek (14) as well due to the consonance of the sound ck . • 25. Importance Of Sportsmanship In Sports The two things that most attract me to Wellesley are the Chandler Pool and the Lulu Campus Center. Sportsmanship is one of my defining characteristics. Having been swimming for the past three years, the eight lane professional Chandler Pool at Wellesley attracts me deeply. Swimming has both strengthened my perseverance and given me the spirit of collaboration and sportsmanship. I enjoy the feeling of racing in the water, pushing myself to the finish line. Swimming has given my body power, developed my deep thinking skills, and, most importantly, made me into a leader. As the captain of the swimming team at my high school, I have had tough moments leading the team, because most of my teammates are more senior than I and I am also an international student. But a loud voice without any action won t win over team members. I changed the situation by working harder and improving my communication skills. I practice longer hours than any other team member., and became the fastest one in the team, although I am not the most physically fit. I volunteered to swim the 500 yards freestyle and fought for my team to make the state meet. I constantly practice my communication skills and improve my English. Instead of giving direct orders to team members, I help and care for my team members. During my two week medical leave, although my doctor advised me to stay at home and rest, I went to the swimming pool, helping the coach keep time, cheering for my team and handing them water and towels. ... • 26. Relationship Between The Crc And The Optional Protocol 1. The relationship between the CRC and the Optional Protocol is supplemental, being that the CRC is the binding/ruling international law on children s rights and the Optional Protocol expounds and expands upon issues that the CRC did not address sufficiently. The Optional Protocol is a separate convention that expands on three issues: armed conflict, sale of children, and communication. States that choose to ratify the Optional Protocol, do so by the same methods as the CRC, thus superseding the CRC provision on that issue. Under the CRC, article 28, age fifteen was the only age that could be agreed upon for children to participate in armed conflict, therefore, that is the minimum age; however, the Optional Protocol convention stated that age fifteen was too low and decided that age eighteen should be the minimum for participation in armed conflict. The Optional Protocol on the sale of children expands on the CRC s stance on the exploitation of children. The Optional Protocol made specific provisions on the sale of children in the sexual context such as prostitution and pornography. It outlines the measures that States should take in protecting children rom sexual exploitation. The Optional Protocol on communication is fairly new and it recognizes children s rights to bring grievances on the violation of their rights to the committee. It also outlines ways that States and governments can help children submit their claims. 2a. Haiti reported that street children in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The jury system was first seen in use by the ancient Greeks thousands of years ago[1]. Since the jury does not have any knowledge of forensics they can be influenced by expert witnesses put on the stand by both the defense and the prosecution which are completely contradictory. The jury system has been used for thousands of years however, there are more logical and economical methods to judge innocence or guilt fairly. While the jury system is not only taxing on the government s resources it is also very difficult for the juror s. A juror in Canada is not compensated for trials under 10 days, if a trial runs from 11 49 days they get forty dollars a day, after 49 days the juror s receive one hundred dollars per day[6]. To put a working citizen in the position of losing up to ten days pay to serve in jury duty is very difficult. Being put into jury duty potentially carries other costs such as childcare and transportation which is not covered by the government.
