Once I have examined the eggs, I will then take them out of the containers and place them on a paper
towel. Once I have dried the eggs off, I will start to test each one to determine how high each one can
bounce and which one will break first. I will do this experiment by dropping each egg no more than 2
inches from a tabletop. I will make a note of how many bounces it took before each egg broke. I will
record this on my data sheet. Once I have completed this experiment, then I will be able to answer the
question I have.

Commentary on Lorna Sage, Bad Blood (2000) Essay
Commentary on Lorna Sage, Bad Blood (2000)
This passage revolves around a young girl s life, how it has changed and what it has become. It is
ironically, how a friendship has evolved into something that the two girls who are exposed in this
passage have never thought it would become. Sage introduces us to what we can conclude to be
herself in the first paragraph of this passage, whilst introducing us to her dear friend (or shall we say
greatest enemy?) in the second paragraph.
The relationship between Gail and the narrator is one of typical young girl s relationships with another
girl. Sage develops the relationship between these two young girls from two very contradicting ways;
Hate to Love. As the narrator mentions; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
...holding hands painfully, giggling together hysterically...
If this was read about a guy and a girl, the reader would quite quickly come to the conclusion of a
special kind of relationship being introduced, but this one friendship isn t like this. This friendship is
consistent of the truth and of the honestly and loyalty towards the other. That is what the holding
hands painfully can be referring to.
The girls do not want to let go of this friendship, they ve been through a lot and they are not willing to
let something come in and take that away from them...but, also, does that imply on anything?
...days of our adolescent intimacy...
In which point of view can we take this quote? Doesn t this usually imply on a strong relationship
between two people? One that consists of love, warmth and of for sure intimacy ? You can t go around
now and hear a girl saying that she has had days of adolescent intimacy with another girl without
thinking that something isn t right...right? And, adolescences is a period of time when two people
should come together and figure out the feelings they have towards each other...to figure out why it is
really classified as intimate and not something different, something filled with a little bit less of love.
The word hell , what does that imply to? Pain? Ache? Struggle? Or all three? The first passage, or to
be more specific, the first

William 18th Century Edinburgh s Court Of Session
Lord Monboddo, one of the most respected, eminent Judges at 18th century Edinburgh s Court of
Session, was definitely an oddball, passionately devoted to the ways of the Ancient Greeks and
disapproving of anything he considered modern. As a result he lived simply, because if the Ancient
Greeks didn t use it, neither did he
Brilliant lawyer, philosopher, leading figure in the Scottish Enlightenment and a striking, complex,
flamboyant character to boot. Not bad for a laddie who started his education at Laurencekirk primary
school.

described by James Boswell during his travels with Dr Johnson as a wretched place, wild and naked

When the case was finally to be decided before the bench, the new Lord gave a blisteringly powerful
closing argument when it looked to all that the case was lost. They should have known better.
Monboddo s five hour speech turned the tide for Douglas as well as gaining for his Lordship a brilliant
legal reputation.
His personal life was not without its personal tragedy though. He married beautiful, accomplished
Grace Farquharson. They had a son and two daughters but sadly, Grace died giving birth to child
number three. Arthur, his son, also died in childhood.
As he grew older he indulged his passion for writing and in 1773, published a massive tome, Of the
Origin and Progress of Man and Language , a study of evolution predating Darwinian theory.
Remarking on the humanoid features of the orang utang, then a little known primate, Monboddo
daringly suggested that the ape might be related to humans. Anticipating Charles Darwin by
generations, this offhand observation made him a laughing stock. Unsurprisingly this and other offbeat
ideas afforded endless matter for jest by the wags of the day although nowadays they are understood
to be related to the theory of evolution. In Boswell: Journal of a Tour to the Hebrides, Samuel Johnson
says, We talked of the Ouran Outan and of Lord Monboddo s thinking that he might be taught to
speak. Dr. Johnson treated this with ridicule and said, ..... it is as possible that the Ouran Outang does

Apella-Personal Narrative Essay
Among the rugged landscapes of the island of Karpathos, Greece lies a small beach named Apella.
Looking out my balcony as the sun gently began to peek through the horizon, I watched the sun s rays
stretch over the large expanse of deep blue waters. The heat from the sun enveloped me like a warm
blanket and made me feel a comfort I ve never experienced before. This image brought a sense of
calmness over me and made me feel like I was finally home. Glancing around the house, I envisioned
myself as a child chasing my cousins in and out of bedrooms and playing games with my grandfather.
To some people, Karpathos acts a popular vacation spot. However, Karpathos served as the setting to
the summers of my youth. Apella not only possesses physical beauty, but it evokes special memories
of my grandfather from my childhood.
In 1954, my grandfather Elias Dimarhos took the journey from Greece to America with fifty dollars in
his pocket. In pursuit of the American dream and a better life for his family, my grandfather settled in
Brooklyn, New York and began searching for work. He eventually purchased a hot dog stand where he
and his family worked in order to make a decent living. Through the bone ... Show more content on

see my grandfather again. At the end of a long day, I always looked forward to the home cooked meal

Value Of Dual Citizenship
In order to fully understand the meaning and value of dual citizenship, Mrs. Alessandra Dal Cengio
Leonardi, a dual national of Italy and U.S.A, was interviewed. The scholarly readings and research on
the topic of dual citizenship were beneficial in learning the legal obligations of the system but the
interview revealed a true and realistic view of the process and its life changing consequences. Answers
to the interview questions were paraphrased and recorded as a story in the following pages.

In addition, the Family law is a bit different between the two countries. It was important to double

The article I picked was about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). OCD is a common, chronic
and long lasting disorder. This disorder makes a person have uncontrollable, reoccurring thoughts

the person has an Obsession OCD, he or she has repeated thoughts, urges, or mental images that cause

Methods Of An Hr Professional
1. Propose two (2) methods an HR professional could use to determine incentive pay. Specify the
main manner in which the proposed methods take into consideration individual, group, and company
performance. Justify your response.
To be effective, incentive pay should boost the kinds of behavior that are most needed, and employees
must believe they have the aptitude to encounter the performance standards. Employees must value
and appreciate the rewards, and believe the pay plan is fair. Organizations can link incentive pay to
individual performance, revenues, or other methods of success. They select incentives based on their
budgets, anticipated influence on performance, and fit with the organizations broader HR and
company strategies and objectives. As Hr. manager I will use the Merit pay system, and Gainsharing
methods for incentive pay
Merit pay is a system associating pay increases to ratings and evaluations on performance
assessments. This system gives the biggest pay increases to the best performers and to those whose
pay is comparatively low for their occupation. Organizations review merit upsurge grids in fluctuating
economic and financial circumstances. In companies that give yearly merit increases without a
different raise for increases in cost of living, merit pay ends up serving as a cost of living adjustment
and creates a sense of entitlement on the part of employees, with even low performers expecting them

The Divine Command Theory ( Dct )
A shift in philosophy from a relativist point of view to a moral perspective brought about several new
revolutionary ideas. One particular theory that is hotly debated is the divine command theory (DCT).
This controversial idea essentially says that God is the boss. It proposes that God decides what is
moral and good, and therefore how we should be acting. It is a relationship between two claims, one
of which God commands, and as a result the other is what is right. Many people and philosophers,
such as the greatly influential 18th century thinker Emmanuel Kant, disapprove of it because it is
relatable only to highly specific groups. The Divine Command Theory can be a useful guidance for
those who are religious, however, I believe that this spiritual theory is not a wise guidance to follow.
The simple divine command theory is centered around the belief in God. If you do not believe in God,
then this theory cannot apply to you. It claims that morality is completely dependent on God. Under
the DCT, the morally right action is the one God commands or requires (IEP). For those who are
religious, this philosophy is a very easy way to live because it is extraordinarily simple. It doesn t
force any sort of mental activity or personal beliefs; you purely live according to what God says is
right. It calls into question the very study of ethics. Those who are religious are dedicated to this
theory because they believe that religion ought to have some bearing on our lives and take

Good Online Guitar Lessons For My Nephew

online guitar lessons for free for him. But to my disappointment I didn t find what I was looking for.
Each one had one or the other draw back. When you are looking forward to learning any thing, the
most important aspect that you should look for is a good instructor or an authentic guidance and the
next thing that you should consider is how well the course is structured or arranged, this is also very
important. So, unless the arrangement of the course is logical and in the right order, you will end up
learning it half baked or incomplete. Since my nephew was on a tight budget, he was looking for

Transracial Adoption In Canada
Canada is widely known as the first country in the world to adopt multiculturalism; being supportive
of all ethnicities and races, while encouraging a peaceful community and promoting cultural
education. However, there is a major gap in the country s history that hides one of the most
controversial issues to date the cultural genocide of the Indigenous community. Public information
regarding this topic remains limited and insufficient, providing little insight on the discrimination and
inequality the Indigenous community has faced, and continues to face today. Particularly, the issue lies
in the failure to provide information on Child Welfare and its related causes, including the residential

Of those, fewer than half about 44 per cent lived with at least one foster parent who identified as
Indigenous. Provinces with a higher proportion of Indigenous children also had more Indigenous kids
in foster care (Yukselir, 2016). The remainder lived in a situation where they were a transracial
adoptee, meaning they were placed in a household with parents that had a different racial or ethnic
group from their own. While transracial adoption usually concludes with positive adjustment
outcomes for adoptees, for Aboriginal transracial adoptees, adoption tends to result in consistently
negative outcomes. Many transracial adoptees of the Sixties Scoop era where Aboriginal children
were apprehended in disproportionate numbers throughout Canada and adopted into non Aboriginal
homes in Canada, United States and overseas, now adults, have contacted Aboriginal child welfare
agencies as they aim to reunite with their birth families. A large proportion of former adoptees first
point of contact is through addiction services and street agencies (Gilchrist, 1995). Many adoptees are
facing identity issues because of being socialized and acculturated into a middle class white society
(Hall, 1995; Gilchrist, 1995; Richard, 1998). For transracial adoptees, identity issues are exacerbated
by the factors that arise in seeking out birth family and cultural ties (Fournier Crey, 1997; Hall, 2003).
According to Bagley (1993), the core of the issue for adoptees is being reacquainted with the most
marginalized and oppressed group within Canadian society . This, he argues, aggravates the already
problematic identity issues that Aboriginal adoptees experience. Finally, transracial adoption causes
poor socio economic factors, as well as psychological, emotional, and mental factors that confront the
adoptee as an adult, as well as facing racism and racial identity issues. Transracial aboriginal research

The Canon Of Medicine Summary
Born in 980 A.D., during the eleventh century in Uzbekistan, philosopher physician Ibn Sina also
known as Avicenna in Europe, wrote a comprehensive medical encyclopedia called the Canon of
Medicine. The Canon of Medicine is considered as one of the most famous books in the history of
medicine. The Persian physician was a paramount figure in the history of Islamic medicine for he was
best known for his advancements and contributes to other Greek physicians philosophy and medical
theories. His work was so methodical that he was later considered as the father of early modern
medicine or the prince of physicians . Avicenna finished writing The Canon of Medicine prior to his
twenty first birthday, in which he provides detailed yet concise notes and findings of his medical
research in addition to writing many comments about other medical theories. However, the physician
philosopher also acquired many other achievements in different and diverse fields, such as
mathematics, poetry, music theory, and religion. The Canon of Medicine Volume I primarily focuses
on general principles of Avicenna s medicine; it can also be perceived as an introductory text for
medical students. As his method of research, Avicenna wrote in his book summarizations and
synthesis based on Hippocrates, Galen, and Aristotle; in addition to incorporating some of his own
observations and facts. This book has imprinted major impacts on other physicians and on medical

Orleans Saints and the Chicago Bears, Mitchell Trubisky threw a beautiful pass into the endzone,
received midair by Chicago s tight end Zach Miller. As he fell to the ground alongside the defender,
the goal line official s arms raised, signaling a touchdown. However, upon the impact with the ground,
Miller s leg bent in the wrong direction an injury that would be later diagnosed as a knee dislocation.

Furthermore, because of spectator displeasure derived from this and other issues this season, the NFL
s ratings are struggling. In short, the NFL s official ruling of completing a catch is too ambiguous for
spectators, players, and officials, and should be addressed accordingly. The official rulebook listing
should be adjusted to define a catch as having control, within bounds of play, for one complete
second. This rule change would not only provide a much clearer definition of a catch, but it would
also make completing a reception or interception easier, recreating interest in the struggling National
Football League. The NFL catch rule has been a hotly contested topic of sports debate since an
incident involving Calvin Johnson, a highly respected former wide receiver for the Detroit Lions, in
2010. Similar to Zach Miller s recent incident, Johnson was originally awarded a touchdown
reception, only to have it overturned for unclear and confusing reasons upon review. This play resulted
in the first of many changes to the catch rule in recent years, aptly nicknamed the Calvin Johnson Rule
(Rothstein). However, as proven by the necessity of revisiting the rule again in 2015 and 2016, this
was ineffective. Furthermore, as proven by scenarios such as Zach Miller s earlier this season, it is
clear that the recent word change has not removed the

Schools Need 21st Century Materials And Resources
Schools need 21st century materials and resources to serve 21st century students. There needs to be a
change in ideology regarding the function of the library in todays society. For centuries, libraries have
remained essentially separate, even competing with one another to establish and maintain the greatest
collection, and now they need to recast themselves as platforms rather than storehouses. (Palfrey,
2015) With the introduction of the internet and online information libraries need to rebrand
themselves. Libraries around the world can now share information with one another in real time, and
the competition for resources has ended. That said, there is still value in networking with other
agencies devoted to education and information. John Palfrey, author of Biblio Tech suggests that,
Libraries must act as ambitiously networked institutions, connecting their network effectively with
partner intuitions: archives, historical societies, museums, and other cultural heritage organizations.
(2015) More agencies are partnering up to give their patrons access to the best and most credible
information. #Learning Commons The year of the Learning Commons is ablaze on social media.
Teacher librarians are embracing technology as a way to reach new audiences and share resources.
The social media of choice for these tech savvy teachers is Twitter, and their hashtag is YearLC.

Five Things About The State Of Idaho
Five Interesting Things About the State of Idaho
Idaho is a state located in the northwestern portion of the United States, but unless you have lived
there, you probably don t know a great deal about the state. The following are a few fun and
interesting things to know about Idaho.
They are a big source of commercial trout
Although known for its potatoes, and they are the number one potato producing state in the nation,
only a third of the country s potatoes come come from this state. Trout, on the other hand, is a
different story. Most of the commercial trout sold in the United States comes from Idaho. The
estimates are as high as 85 percent of the trout commercially available is sourced here in Idaho, and
most of this comes from Hagerman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hot water that is tapped for use as energy is found more than a half mile below the surface. Idaho
is currently ranked fifth for producing energy in this manner, but due to the large amount of natural
hot water in the southern portion of the state, Idaho has the potential to greatly expand this source of
energy.
Idaho is a big red state
Idaho votes Republican in the national election and currently sends 100 percent Republicans to
Washington, D.C. Their two members of the House of Representatives, Mike Simpson and Raul
Labrador are both Republicans. Both Senators from Idaho are also Republicans: James Risch and
Mike Crapo. Mr Crapo is the senior senator having served for 17 years. The governor of the state of
Idaho, Butch Otter, is also a Republican.
Odds and ends
As you might guess, the state vegetable of Idaho is the potato. The state fruit is not as easy to guess. It
is the huckleberry. For those not familiar with what a huckleberry is, they are found is several varieties
in the wild, but are closely related to the blueberries that you can buy at your local supermarket.
Naturally, Idaho s state fish is a trout, specifically a cutthroat trout, but their state horse is the
appaloosa. A breed many people are not familiar with. Idaho s state flower is the Syringa, and their
state bird is the Mountain Bluebird; this is also the state bird of

Argumentative Essay On Hero Vs Monster
Hero Versus Monster
The classic story of hero versus monster has been around for as long as we as human have been telling
them. There is something about a good hero, or even more so a good monster that fascinates and
intrigues the human mind. We love stories of underdogs prevailing against the odds just as much as we
enjoy the monsters they are put up against. Modern day hero versus monster stories take place
between radically different parties then that of early human history however. Often today the hero and
the monster can be the same person, with ourselves being our worst enemies.
Back in early human history, complications, disagreements, and issues generally took place between
two parties. Introspection, the examination or observation of one s own mental and emotional
processes, was not as prevalent as it is today. While our modern day society still deals with issues
between two individuals, many of the issues we are confronted with now are internal struggles with
ourselves. Low ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The term hero in modern day English is defined as someone who is admired or idealized for courage,
outstanding achievements, or noble qualities, but who and as well as what makes a hero is more up to
the eyes of the beholder than anything else. While a hero for many is someone that plays a role model
figure in their lives, many a time do they forget that they themselves are one of the most heroic and
courageous persons in their lives. Tasks such as overcoming crippling depression, working up the
courage to step out of one s comfort zone and try something new, or working through a traumatic
death in a family are all examples of invisible heroes, heroes that cannot be seen but are felt instead.
These invisible heroes play a role in shaping us into who we are, and many times fight battles within
us that we do not even know are taking

Incorporating Personal Responsibility in the College...
PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY ESSAY
Success in college requires one to identify key aspects of personal responsibility, understand the
relationship between personal responsibility and college success, and establish a specific plan to
follow that will ensure he or she incorporates the various elements of personal responsibility in every
facet of his or her college experience.
The notion of personal responsibility has been embedded in our culture and as we enter into adulthood
we must learn to become personally, academically, financially, socially and mentally responsible.
There are times when you may feel you are responsible and may not need or want the help of others in
your life. However, life is full of challenges and surprises and it is easy to shift the blame to others if
things don t go your way. You must learn to take responsibility by accepting and acknowledging the
choices you make in your live.
You are where you are in life today because of the choice you made. You made decisions that either
benefitted or hindered you. How you accept and acknowledges your personal responsibility depends
on how you handle the outcomes of your decisions. I look at personal responsibility as you accepting
responsibility for your actions, accepting the consequences that come from those actions and
understanding that these actions impact the world around you.
Life itself is already full of challenges and once you learn to accept the decisions you made and not
blaming others for your actions,

I have been a UNI men s basketball fan for a long time, and I had been waiting forever for this
basketball game to happen. It was the UNI Panthers vs North Carolina Tar Heels game. The reason
Northern Iowa scheduled this matchup was because North Carolina point guard Marcus Paige was
supposed to play, but he suffered from a broken bone injury in his hand so he couldn t play. Marcus
Paige played for Linn Mar High School with his teammate, Matt Bohannon, who is UNI Panther
player. ¨So anything could happen, right? I asked my dad, ¨Dad, do you think UNI is going to knock

¨This win would get sports coverage on Sportscenter and all over the sports world!¨

Drew came over by us after the game and I said, ¨The better team won, Drew!¨
¨Yeah, yeah, yeah,¨ said Drew.
We wanted to see if any North Carolina players came out after the game and they did. Marcus Paige

Statistical data were collected by using the Statistical Package of Social Sciences using a paired
variance t test (comparing before after). An independent t test was also used for comparison between
the two groups (equal variance). The results were reported as mean ± SD.
The following outcomes were found to be statistically significant. An increase of knee extensors
strength comparing pre and post treatment results was observed on weak (w) and strong(s) legs not
defined by investigators in the WBV group (p values 0.009, 0.013 respectively). The control group
mean and standardized deviation values of the knee extensors strength were as followed for the weak
leg pre post intervention: 24.667 ± 0.764, 25.333 ± 0.289 and for the strong leg 23.333 ± 1.258, 24.00
± 0.500, showing minimal increases in this group for both legs (w =.666 and s = .667); for the
experimental group the weak leg was 25.00 ±0.866 pre and 28.00 ±1.000 post and for the strong leg
24 ±0.866 and 27 ±1.00 respectively, both of them showing increases of 3.00. Spasticity reduction was
observed in the trial group in one of the three muscle groups (knee extensors) with a p value 0.035.
Walking speed assessed with the 6 Min walk test showed statistical significance in favor of the WBV
group after treatment (p value 0.001) with mean and SD values of 240 ± 60 pre and 400 ± 50 post in
contrast with the control group were the p value was 0.173 with mean and SD values 203.3 ±33.3 pre

Pathophysiology In Luke 17
FROM OUTSIDE THE CAMP TO WITHIN THE KINGDOM:
NARRATIVE CHRISTOLOGY IN LUKE 17:11 19
In Luke 17, Jesus is somewhere along his journey to Jerusalem when he encounters ten lepers in need
of healing. As is expected, he heals them and sends them away. However, the story takes a sudden
shift toward the unexpected. One man returns. The man s identity is even more unexpected. Luke halts
the story to inform readers that he is a Samaritan, a foreign breed. The Samaritan falls at the feet of
Jesus, worshiping God, and his faith saves him.
On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered a
village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices, saying, Jesus,
Master, have mercy on us. When he saw them he said to them, Go and show yourselves to the priests.
And as they went they were cleansed. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back,
praising God with a loud voice; and he fell on his face at Jesus feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a
Samaritan. Then Jesus answered, Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to
return and give praise to God except this foreigner? And he said to him, Rise and go your way; your
faith has made you well (Luke 17:11 19 ESV). It is clear that this pericope contains much more than a
simple miracle story or lesson in gratitude. It gives rise to questions about Jesus s location, salvation,
and identity. This narrative proves to be the

Hip Hop Dichotomy Essay
Tracing the Rap/Hip Hop Dichotomy in Popular and Underground Music Rap music has experienced
a radical increase in popularity in the last five years. In the year 2000, rap became the second best
selling genre in music, capturing 12.9 percent of the year s $14.3 billion in total record sales ( Rap/Hip
Hop Sc 1). Though rap is no stranger to criticism, that criticism has increased in both quantity and
vociferousness at about the same rate as the number of rap albums climbing the charts. And the
growing evidence that, apparently, in order to achieve commercial success, each rap album must be
more negative and offensive than the last does not help to address these criticisms. Unfortunately, the
critics miss most of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The genre s performers and audience were predominantly black in its early phases, though there was a
significant Latino minority (Smitherman Sc 1), and it originated as the response of these marginalized
groups to the commercial music of the period. Afrika Bambaataa, one of hip hop s founders and leader
of the Zulu Nation (a hip hop clique), once said, The Bronx wasn t into radio music no more....Hip
hop was against the disco that was being played on the radio (Stern 412). The hip hop community also
developed responses to other aspects of disco culture: Athletic gear in place of leisure suits and
breakdancing in place of disco dancing. Graffiti art also became intertwined with hip hop early on, and
the music became a celebration of the three art forms that comprise hip hop culture graffiti, break
dancing, and the music itself (Smitherman Sc 1, Costello 22). The mid 1980 s saw the rise to marginal
mainstream popularity of rap groups like Run DMC and the Beastie Boys, who drew criticism for
their relaxed treatment of sex, violence and, in the case of the Beastie Boys, drugs. Indeed they had, if
not lost sight of the music s original aims completely, at least added these seemingly incongruous
elements to it. Then, in 1989, hip hop blew up in the mainstream with the introduction of

The Most Aggressive Part of Frank
What was once an average daily commute to the office had become the place we hated each other

On the morning of the accident, he wore the tie I gave him for our first anniversary, before we were

Analysis Of Alfred Hitchcock s I Confess

occur in the same night. In this essay, I m going to be analyzing the mise en scene, cinematography,
and sound of the cinematic masterpiece I Confess by Alfred Hitchcock. Father Michael Logan is an

They are greeted with musical stabs each time they appear and add suspense as the audience wonders
that the signs are pointing at. The fourth time the direction sign shows up, the camera pans to the right
and looks into a window. The open window reveals Vilette s dead body and the music escalates very
quickly. The suspense in the first 45 seconds of this film is expertly crafted and although the murderer
is revealed directly after, it leaves the audience curious. Beside the corpse is the murder weapon (a
blunt instrument) and you can clearly see Vilette s head bleeding at the top, revealing how he was
murdered. From the image of Vilette s body, the camera pans to the doorway where the beaded curtain
is left swinging showing the audience that someone has just left the crime scene. Next, the audience
sees a man in a priest s clothes hurrying down the sidewalk late at night. The lighting is very
important in this shot as it sets a very serious, ominous tone. The character also looks over his
shoulder hastily as if he s worried someone might see him. The camera goes to a wide shot to show
that two young girls are right behind Keller as he briskly walks away from his crime. Then the shot
fades into Keller walking towards the camera down an alleyway. The lighting is still extremely
gloomy and shadowy as he takes off into a dark corner. The next shot has a revealing as Keller takes
off his priest clothing and he looks around suspiciously.

How Media Influence Body Image
Body Image and the Media
70% of 6 12 year olds already have the mindset that they need to be thinner. (Just Say Yes.org)Many
factors influence individual s perception of his or her own appearance. Media has greatly increased the
ideal image of beauty. Barbie, models, and actors give people false hope that they will look just like
them, and if they look different then they aren t beautiful. Social media and peer pressures influence
the way teens see themselves. To fix this problem people need to learn to self love, respect themselves,
and understand that people on TV were given the job because of the way they look to appeal to the
audience.
First of all, since the growth of the Internet in 1980s the public has been bombarded with media driven
ideas of what characteristics are desirable for men and women. Women tend to want to look like
models they see on advertisements which is usually thin with nice curves. Men also tend to want to
look like models on advertisements, which consists of being tall, slender, muscular, and toned.
Overall, men and women want to keep changing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Time magazine Eliana Dockterman wrote an article titled A Barbie For Every Body
which states that children play with Barbies at a young age, so they are already given the impression
that to be perfect you must look just like the Barbie doll. 85% of American girls ages 3 to 10 currently
own at least one Barbie, (Dockterman, 2016. Pg 46) based on this we know that barbie is extremely
popular and Barbie does have at least some influence on girls ideal body image. A 2006 study shows
that girls exposed to Barbie at a young age expressed greater concern with being thin. On January 28,
2016 Mattel released many different body types of Barbie s such as, petite, tall and curvy. They hope
that the diverse body types, new skin tones, and hair textures will closely reflect their young owners

The Positive And Biological Effects Of Radiation
Biological Effects of Radiation
Radiosensitivity
DNA as main cellular target
Cellular role of DNA DNA is a double helix molecule made up of two sugar phosphate backbones that
are linked together at the bases: Adenine Thymine and Guanine Cytosine. DNA is responsible for
cellular structure and function.
Direct vs. indirect DNA damage ** Direct damage Direct ionization has charged particles such as
alpha, protons, and electrons. Direct damage to the nucleus of the atom is the direct damage to the
DNA cell. Has the ability to rip electrons off of an atom. Indirect Damage Indirect ionization is with x
rays, gamma rays, and neutrons. Indirect ionizations cause secondary effects:
Radiolysis splitting of water. An electron can be ejected to form h20+.
This electron can be absorbed by another atom to form h20 . These ions can form ion pairs or highly
reactive free radicals. All can recombine to form water, hydrogen peroxide, or interact with the
cellular components of a cell such as the nucleus. (Radiation Therapy Essentials Board
Preparation Tool)
Low LET radiation causes damage primarily through the formation of free radicals ****
Types and results of DNA damage
Single strand breaks is when one piece of the backbone of the helix is broken; base deletion. 2000 per
cell after typical daily dose of 180 200 cGy. This can easily be repaired. Radiation will damage the
cell then enzymes come in and heal the damage with another strand. Sometimes the

Juvenile Justice Reforms
There many things that the state of Illinois has done that they claim they were the first in the nation
ever do, we had the very first skyscraper in the world, we had the first deep dish pizza and we also
elected the very first African American president of the United States. One of the other things at the
state of Illinois was first and is we were the first state in the entire nation to have a juvenile court
unlike the other first that I mentioned this one seldom ignites a passionate discussion or even
impresses many people, the very first juvenile court in America was founded in Cook County in 1909
soon after the rest of Illinois and then the nation implemented very similar courts. These courts were

assembly worked across the aisle to better serve our juvenile communities to dispense proper justice
not a cookie cutter justice were one size fits all. What this legislation actually done was put the power
back in the judge s hands where the judge on a case by case basis can look and see whether or not this
child or the crime this child committed warrants it being turned over to the adult courts. Another
aspect of these revisions to our Illinois juvenile justice system are that many misdemeanors can no
longer warrant a trip to the Department of juvenile corrections crime such as disorderly conduct are
trespassing for which you were incarcerated can now be dealt with within local jurisdiction using the
services at their disposal such as local probation. Another aspect that is changed with the recent
Illinois juvenile justice programs is that the state of Illinois no longer places these use that are released
from our justice system on lengthily periods of probation or parole, many legislators realized that the
lengthily aftercare. Was just an invitation for parole violations most of which were minor technical
violations that would end up with a juvenile returning to the Department of juvenile Justice you

Prior to 1995, AOL was so successful in the commercial online industry relative to its competitors
CompuServe and Prodigy primarily because of its pricing rate structure which was the easiest for
customers to understand and plan for ahead of time. CompuServe and Prodigy offered the same
pricing as AOL for its standard service, but, charged additional fees for premium services and
downloading which made it more difficult for customers to anticipate their monthly spending.
The key changes taking changes taking place in the online industry in 1995 are the introduction of the
Microsoft network and the coming of use of the Internet World Wide Web which offered alternative ...

3. Was AOL s policy to capitalize subscriber acquisition costs justified prior to 1995?
4. Given the changes discussed in question 2, do you think AOL should change its accounting policy
as of 1995? Is the company s response consistent with your view?
5. What would be the effect on AOL s 1995 balance sheet if all capitalized subscriber acquisition costs
were written off?
6. If AOL expensed all the subscriber acquisition costs incurred in fiscal 1995 during the same year,
what would be the effect on its income statement?
Appendix B
B.1 Adjustments to Operating Income and Net Income
When the Subscriber Acquisition Costs are expensed (versus capitalized) the operating income and net
income need to be adjusted by adding back the Amortization of Subscriber Acquisition Costs ( that
was subtracted out when the expenses were capitalized) and subtracting out the current year s
Subscriber Acquisition Costs.
Adjusted Operating Earnings = Operating Earnings + Amortization of Subscriber Acquisition Costs –
Current Year s Subscriber Acquisition Costs = (19,294) + 60,294 – 111,761 = $ (70,131) Million
Adjusted Net Income = Net Income + Amortization of Subscriber

Sequency Hereditary Material
INTRODUCTION: Since days bygone, study of living beings required to break barriers of the single
cell and throw light into hereditary material, giving us great insights into nucleic acid sequences. To
face the challenges associated with various questions thrown at biology, great advent was required to
be made in the area of working out the correct order of how nucleic acids are arranged in an array of
genes to give rise to various phenotypes and often, its deviations. Focus was to be shifted out of the
wet laboratory and into silicon chips .Ever since the Thus, arose the requirement of sequencing the
hereditary material, knowing about the entire genetic content of the organism or rather, it s genome
and its analysis. With the help of sequencing a great number of laboratories across the globe have
conducted groundbreaking research and this very important technique has been established as the
basis of a plethora of investigations REASON BEHIND CHOOSING GENOME ASSEMBLY: From
research laboratories to personalized genome analysis, genome sequencing and downstream
processing of the sequenced data has become a mandate for most biological experimentation. The
complete genome sequence of Haemophilus influenzae by TIGR in 1995 turned a lot of heads with the
scope of studying actual relatedness between organisms, their hereditary material, their genotypic data
and biggest of all what advantage we can derive of them. With the advent of geomic era,or the era of

Rhetorical Analysis Of The Article Dear Fellow White People
During the 2016 Olympics, athletes have received plenty of spotlight in the media. But was every
media coverage the same for every athlete? In Valkenburg Dear Fellow White People op ed article, the
author employs juxtaposition, ethos, and rhetorical questions claiming that the idea of white privilege
is existent and people should no longer fail to acknowledge this.
Valkenburg juxtaposes similar incidents between white and black athletes to emphasize the idea that
there is white privilege being portrayed in the sports event. For example, Valkenburg mentions the
Ryan Lochte scandal, that happened during the Olympics, but he then encourages his audience to
imagine the same scandal but with an athlete of color. Soon we see the different diction he uses to
juxtapose these similar, yet different situations. Words that were used to describe Lochte were:
mellifluously , bro ,and Frat Bro version of Jason Bourne ; whereas the imaginary black athlete is
described as destructive and very disrespectful. He starts off by pointing out to the audience that ...

impressed with their own performance but yet the media decides to just criticize one athlete... Why?

looking less than thrilled . Same story. Same sport. Different reaction. Different race.
Valkenburg use of juxtaposition, ethos, and rhetorical question exhibits the idea that white privilege
still exists till this day. His words cause for his audience to reflect and ponder to see if they have even
unconsciously had an advantage over people of color. Colored people do exist and they have to
struggle every day to prove everyone that they are just as valuable as white

  • 4. Commentary on Lorna Sage, Bad Blood (2000) Essay Commentary on Lorna Sage, Bad Blood (2000) This passage revolves around a young girl s life, how it has changed and what it has become. It is ironically, how a friendship has evolved into something that the two girls who are exposed in this passage have never thought it would become. Sage introduces us to what we can conclude to be herself in the first paragraph of this passage, whilst introducing us to her dear friend (or shall we say greatest enemy?) in the second paragraph. The relationship between Gail and the narrator is one of typical young girl s relationships with another girl. Sage develops the relationship between these two young girls from two very contradicting ways; Hate to Love. As the narrator mentions; ... He married beautiful, accomplished Grace Farquharson. They had a son and two daughters but sadly, Grace died giving birth to child number three. Arthur, his son, also died in childhood. As he grew older he indulged his passion for writing and in 1773, published a massive tome, Of the Origin and Progress of Man and Language , a study of evolution predating Darwinian theory. Remarking on the humanoid features of the orang utang, then a little known primate, Monboddo daringly suggested that the ape might be related to humans. Anticipating Charles Darwin by generations, this offhand observation made him a laughing stock. Unsurprisingly this and other offbeat ideas afforded endless matter for jest by the wags of the day although nowadays they are understood to be related to the theory of evolution. One particular theory that is hotly debated is the divine command theory (DCT). This controversial idea essentially says that God is the boss. It proposes that God decides what is moral and good, and therefore how we should be acting. It is a relationship between two claims, one of which God commands, and as a result the other is what is right. Many people and philosophers, such as the greatly influential 18th century thinker Emmanuel Kant, disapprove of it because it is relatable only to highly specific groups. The Divine Command Theory can be a useful guidance for those who are religious, however, I believe that this spiritual theory is not a wise guidance to follow. The simple divine command theory is centered around the belief in God. If you do not believe in God, then this theory cannot apply to you. It claims that morality is completely dependent on God. Under the DCT, the morally right action is the one God commands or requires (IEP). For those who are religious, this philosophy is a very easy way to live because it is extraordinarily simple. It doesn t force any sort of mental activity or personal beliefs; you purely live according to what God says is right. It calls into question the very study of ethics. While transracial adoption usually concludes with positive adjustment outcomes for adoptees, for Aboriginal transracial adoptees, adoption tends to result in consistently negative outcomes. Many transracial adoptees of the Sixties Scoop era where Aboriginal children were apprehended in disproportionate numbers throughout Canada and adopted into non Aboriginal homes in Canada, United States and overseas, now adults, have contacted Aboriginal child welfare agencies as they aim to reunite with their birth families. • 24. Argumentative Essay On Hero Vs Monster Hero Versus Monster The classic story of hero versus monster has been around for as long as we as human have been telling them. There is something about a good hero, or even more so a good monster that fascinates and intrigues the human mind. We love stories of underdogs prevailing against the odds just as much as we enjoy the monsters they are put up against. Modern day hero versus monster stories take place between radically different parties then that of early human history however. Often today the hero and the monster can be the same person, with ourselves being our worst enemies. Back in early human history, complications, disagreements, and issues generally took place between two parties. Introspection, the examination or observation of one s own mental and emotional processes, was not as prevalent as it is today. While our modern day society still deals with issues between two individuals, many of the issues we are confronted with now are internal struggles with ourselves. Low ... Tasks such as overcoming crippling depression, working up the courage to step out of one s comfort zone and try something new, or working through a traumatic death in a family are all examples of invisible heroes, heroes that cannot be seen but are felt instead. • 25. Incorporating Personal Responsibility in the College... PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY ESSAY Success in college requires one to identify key aspects of personal responsibility, understand the relationship between personal responsibility and college success, and establish a specific plan to follow that will ensure he or she incorporates the various elements of personal responsibility in every facet of his or her college experience. The notion of personal responsibility has been embedded in our culture and as we enter into adulthood we must learn to become personally, academically, financially, socially and mentally responsible. There are times when you may feel you are responsible and may not need or want the help of others in your life. However, life is full of challenges and surprises and it is easy to shift the blame to others if things don t go your way. You must learn to take responsibility by accepting and acknowledging the choices you make in your live. You are where you are in life today because of the choice you made. You made decisions that either benefitted or hindered you. How you accept and acknowledges your personal responsibility depends on how you handle the outcomes of your decisions. I look at personal responsibility as you accepting responsibility for your actions, accepting the consequences that come from those actions and understanding that these actions impact the world around you. Life itself is already full of challenges and once you learn to accept the decisions you made and not blaming others for your actions, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Pathophysiology In Luke 17 FROM OUTSIDE THE CAMP TO WITHIN THE KINGDOM: NARRATIVE CHRISTOLOGY IN LUKE 17:11 19 In Luke 17, Jesus is somewhere along his journey to Jerusalem when he encounters ten lepers in need of healing. As is expected, he heals them and sends them away. However, the story takes a sudden shift toward the unexpected. One man returns. The man s identity is even more unexpected. Luke halts the story to inform readers that he is a Samaritan, a foreign breed. The Samaritan falls at the feet of Jesus, worshiping God, and his faith saves him. On the way to Jerusalem he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee. And as he entered a village, he was met by ten lepers, who stood at a distance and lifted up their voices, saying, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us. When he saw them he said to them, Go and show yourselves to the priests. And as they went they were cleansed. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice; and he fell on his face at Jesus feet, giving him thanks. Now he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus answered, Were not ten cleansed? Where are the nine? Was no one found to return and give praise to God except this foreigner? And he said to him, Rise and go your way; your faith has made you well (Luke 17:11 19 ESV). It is clear that this pericope contains much more than a simple miracle story or lesson in gratitude. It gives rise to questions about Jesus s location, salvation, and identity. This narrative proves to be the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the year 2000, rap became the second best selling genre in music, capturing 12.9 percent of the year s $14.3 billion in total record sales ( Rap/Hip Hop Sc 1). Though rap is no stranger to criticism, that criticism has increased in both quantity and vociferousness at about the same rate as the number of rap albums climbing the charts. The Positive And Biological Effects Of Radiation Biological Effects of Radiation Radiosensitivity DNA as main cellular target Cellular role of DNA DNA is a double helix molecule made up of two sugar phosphate backbones that are linked together at the bases: Adenine Thymine and Guanine Cytosine. DNA is responsible for cellular structure and function. Direct vs. indirect DNA damage ** Direct damage Direct ionization has charged particles such as alpha, protons, and electrons. Direct damage to the nucleus of the atom is the direct damage to the DNA cell. Has the ability to rip electrons off of an atom. Indirect Damage Indirect ionization is with x rays, gamma rays, and neutrons. Indirect ionizations cause secondary effects: Radiolysis splitting of water. An electron can be ejected to form h20+. This electron can be absorbed by another atom to form h20 . These ions can form ion pairs or highly reactive free radicals. All can recombine to form water, hydrogen peroxide, or interact with the cellular components of a cell such as the nucleus. • 44. Juvenile Justice Reforms There many things that the state of Illinois has done that they claim they were the first in the nation ever do, we had the very first skyscraper in the world, we had the first deep dish pizza and we also elected the very first African American president of the United States. One of the other things at the state of Illinois was first and is we were the first state in the entire nation to have a juvenile court unlike the other first that I mentioned this one seldom ignites a passionate discussion or even impresses many people, the very first juvenile court in America was founded in Cook County in 1909 soon after the rest of Illinois and then the nation implemented very similar courts. These courts were first designed to help wayward use find ... What this legislation actually done was put the power back in the judge s hands where the judge on a case by case basis can look and see whether or not this child or the crime this child committed warrants it being turned over to the adult courts. Another aspect of these revisions to our Illinois juvenile justice system are that many misdemeanors can no longer warrant a trip to the Department of juvenile corrections crime such as disorderly conduct are trespassing for which you were incarcerated can now be dealt with within local jurisdiction using the services at their disposal such as local probation. Another aspect that is changed with the recent Illinois juvenile justice programs is that the state of Illinois no longer places these use that are released from our justice system on lengthily periods of probation or parole, many legislators realized that the lengthily aftercare. Was just an invitation for parole violations most of which were minor technical violations that would end up with a juvenile returning to the Department of juvenile Justice you ... Given the changes discussed in question 2, do you think AOL should change its accounting policy as of 1995? Is the company s response consistent with your view? 5. What would be the effect on AOL s 1995 balance sheet if all capitalized subscriber acquisition costs were written off? 6. If AOL expensed all the subscriber acquisition costs incurred in fiscal 1995 during the same year, what would be the effect on its income statement? Appendix B B.1 Adjustments to Operating Income and Net Income When the Subscriber Acquisition Costs are expensed (versus capitalized) the operating income and net income need to be adjusted by adding back the Amortization of Subscriber Acquisition Costs ( that was subtracted out when the expenses were capitalized) and subtracting out the current year s Subscriber Acquisition Costs. Adjusted Operating Earnings = Operating Earnings + Amortization of Subscriber Acquisition Costs – Current Year s Subscriber Acquisition Costs = (19,294) + 60,294 – 111,761 = $ (70,131) Million Adjusted Net Income = Net Income + Amortization of Subscriber ... • 46. Sequency Hereditary Material INTRODUCTION: Since days bygone, study of living beings required to break barriers of the single cell and throw light into hereditary material, giving us great insights into nucleic acid sequences. To face the challenges associated with various questions thrown at biology, great advent was required to be made in the area of working out the correct order of how nucleic acids are arranged in an array of genes to give rise to various phenotypes and often, its deviations. Focus was to be shifted out of the wet laboratory and into silicon chips .Ever since the Thus, arose the requirement of sequencing the hereditary material, knowing about the entire genetic content of the organism or rather, it s genome and its analysis. With the help of sequencing a great number of laboratories across the globe have conducted groundbreaking research and this very important technique has been established as the basis of a plethora of investigations REASON BEHIND CHOOSING GENOME ASSEMBLY: From research laboratories to personalized genome analysis, genome sequencing and downstream processing of the sequenced data has become a mandate for most biological experimentation. The complete genome sequence of Haemophilus influenzae by TIGR in 1995 turned a lot of heads with the scope of studying actual relatedness between organisms, their hereditary material, their genotypic data and biggest of all what advantage we can derive of them. With the advent of geomic era,or the era of studying not ony ...
