Vincent Van Gogh
The painting is Van Gogh in St. Remy mental hospital during treatment, copying the painting of
Miller. Van Gogh created the painting in Holland from 1890 to 1891. The size of the painting is
73x91cm. This painting uses canvas, brushes and paint creation. In the lower right corner of the
picture depicts a couple of farmers are harvesting in mature wheat, tired one morning, at noon after
lying on the side of the rest of the scene stack. On the side of the man put off the shoes and two sickle,
cover the face of the straw hat, head pillow hands, doesn t seem to fall asleep and his wife, feeling
tired, nestled in her husband s chest, fell asleep. In addition to the sky above the left, all the other parts

the farmer s behind wheat looks very lush. Our eyes move from the focal point, this pair of farmers,
and the farmers next to the shoes and two sickle. Then our eyes dance over from the wheat and the
blue sky. The artist used desaturated colors to create a peaceful mood and the artist contrasts the
yellow wheat with the blue clothes to make the farmers jump out. Last the yellow wheat symbolize

A Short Note On The Edict Of Milan
After the fascinating discoveries from Marco Polo, another event that was significant throughout
Western Civilization is the Edict of Milan. The Edict of Milan was a declaration that permanently
established religious tolerance for Christianity within the Roman Empire. The outcome of the political
agreement concluded, of course, in Milan, between emperors of Constantine I and Licinius, in
February 313. The declaration, was made for the East by Licinius, granting all people the freedom of
any religion they wanted to worship. Also, it assured Christians of legal rights, including the right to
organize churches. Not only granting them freedom of religion and legal rights, but giving back the
property that was confiscated (brittanica.com). The Edict of Milan was a significant event because it
gave Christians rights and made Christianity a set religion. Not only did the Edict of Milan make
Christianity a set religion, it made everybody in Western Civilization tolerate it. If it was not for
Constantine I and Licinius in February of 313 coming up with the Edict of Milan, Christianity would
not be the set religion until later. Throughout Western Civilization, and without the Edict of Milan,
Christians would not only have any rights and no land. Also, there would not be any Christian
churches throughout Western Civilization if it was not for the Edict of Milan.
Following the Edict of Milan giving Christianity tolerance, Jonathan Gutenberg inventing the printing

The Movie Let The Right One
Let the Right One In, is a wonderful film that captures positive qualities from Carmilla and achieves
what Twilight so desperately attempts. In many ways this film is an adaptation of Carmilla,
highlighting the friendship between a vampire and younger child. In both stories, the human struggles
internally with their strong feelings towards the vampire, and their moral obligated to hate them. In
both cases, the protagonist struggles with a strong attraction to the vampire coupled with a moral
repulsion to the vampire s nature and behavior (Ridenhour). In comparison with Twilight, Let the
Right One In tells a story of love with no barriers. Prefers to help rather than hurt the person who is
suppose to be their prey (Tyree). In both stories, the vampires repeatedly push the human away, only
to grow a stronger attraction. Though the human knows or at least has a hunch their new friend is not
human, this does not sway their attraction. The difference is, in Twilight, Edward s secret is that he is a
vampire, in Let the Right One In, Eli s secret is not that he is vampire, but that he is a boy. This is
subtlety shown in the movie when Eli s castration is briefly shown. In the book it is told, Eli was
turned (into a vampire) in the 18th century by a vampire who castrated him and drank the blood from
the wound (Ridenhour). In all three stories, there is a tale told of complete loneliness, whether it s
Laura s isolation from the outside world, Bella s feelings of being an

Patton Fuller is a community hospital that has been proudly serving the community since 1975.
Patience care is number one, and they thrive to ensure each of their patients experience is as pleasant
as possible. Hospitals are under enormous pressure to treat patients in the most effective and efficient
way. By leveraging the best IT systems, health organizations provide the type of patient care with the
speed and efficiency required by the market. By analyzing Patton Fuller s IT infrastructure, a

The entire hospital is equipped with back up power although some of the individual department also
has local UPS. Local UPS prevent the loss of power during the switch over from commercial to
backup power.
The Radiology department has two IMAC computers, two MAC Pros and one digital printer. The OR
and ICU have two IMac s, one MAC PRO, and a wireless access point which they access using IPad s.
The devices are connected to a HP laser MFP 475 b/w printer.
Last, the RIS data center comprises of a MAC PRO server with the MAC Lion operating system. An
APC UPS is connected to the server in the event of a power outage. The data center also contains two
printers, an IMAC computer and a Promise 48TB RAID disk storage.
STANDARDS
There are many LAN standards utilized by Patton Fuller Hospital all of which are baseband Ethernet
LAN s. IEEE 802.3 is the working group that creates and defines the entire family of Ethernet
standards (Goleniewski, 2007). First, 802.3ab, which was completed in 1999, is 1000base T Gigabit
Ethernet over twisted pair at 1Gbps. 802.3ab uses UTP category 5, 5e, 6, or 7 cables. Gigabit Ethernet
is capable of transmitting 1Gbps of data over distances of 300ft. It is easy to implement because most
companies already use a category 5 or higher grade of cable. The second standard LAN standard used
in the hospital is 802.3x or 1000Base X Gigabit Ethernet over fiber at 1 Gbps. Gigabit Ethernet builds

Bilingualism In America
America s strength is not our diversity; it is our ability to unite around common principles even when
we come from different backgrounds, we can still unite with those bilingual people that have the same
dream. The American Dream... That is what Raj answered when I asked his opinion in regards of
bilingualism and how diverse the United States is becoming. Bilingualism is the use of two alternative
languages that are interchanged depending on the situation the speaker wants to convey or

Due to the fact that age can make it harder to become fluent in a language, his accent never went
away. I did noticed some lexical borrowing when he tried to say something in Spanish, he pretty much
made up an English word into Spanish, which it was more like Spanglish type of deal. For example,
instead of saying relationship , he would say relachion or money to monero. I thought it was funny
and he was just joking, but he was actually serious. I corrected him and asked if he knew he was
wrong; he said he kind of knew, but that every time he makes up words, it makes his customers laugh,
and that laughter always creates money in his business. As mentioned in Multiple Voices , not all
bilinguals use both skills in all context or even means that the person is able to be proficient on both
languages. Also, he falls into the vertical multilingualism category due to the fact that he lives in an
urban area and has to interact with people who speak different languages. I believe societies are
multilingual because of minorities that live in the United States and speak English, which is the
dominant language group in America. Therefore, Raj was able to shift from his L1 to L2 (English), to
L3 (Spanish) (Myers Scotton, C. (2006). Multiple voices: An introduction to bilingualism. Malden,

Samuel Johnson Are The Guardians Of The English Language
Drawing on the discussion of Samuel Johnson s Dictionary in Reading B of Unit 2, critically evaluate
Mitchell s (2005) claim that, while grammarians were the guardians of the English language in the
seventeenth century, lexicographers assumed that role in the eighteenth century .
The rules and explanations of Grammar are different than texts and language in terms of words,
sounds, sentences, and some other elements of language too. Grammar works on combined
explanation of language and interpretations as well. The publication of Samuel Johnson got popularity

standardized and complete in itself that remains of a century. The dictionary was published in two

William Shakespeare, John Dryden and John Milton. And later in another edition more quotes and

Muscular System Essay
What are the critical functions of the skeletomuscular systems? How are they essential for life?
Skeletomuscular system provides support and movement. It also stores calcium in our body. In
addition, the basic concept underlying of skeletomuscular are protein structure and function.
How do the skeleton and skeletal muscle work together to allow movement?
The skeleton and skeletal muscles are interconnected that the outer covering on most skeletal muscles
is continuous with the outer covering of the bone they are attached to. Skeleton and skeletal muscle
work together to perform several function key; to provide movement and locomotion, manipulate the
environment. These systems also protect the organ in the thoracic and abdominopelvic cavities, ...

National Library of Medicine, 2013).
How does it affect skeletal muscle function?
The muscles fiber membrane contains a group of proteins the dystrophin glycoprotein complex that
prohibits harm as muscle fibers contract and relax. When this protective membrane is damaged,
muscles fibers begins to leak the protein creatine kinase and take on excess calcium, which causes
further harm.
Does DMD affect boys and girls equally? If not, who are primarily affected and why?
Because DMD is an inherited in X linked recessive pattern, and males only have one copy of the X
chromosome, not like female that two copies of x chromosome, if one copy does not work there is
another one to produce dystrophin. With an X linked recessive condition, the chance of passing on the
change (non working) copy of the gene to a child is different for males and females (National Human
Genome Research Institute, 2013).
What is SMA? What gene is mutated?

the loss of nerve cells in the spinal cord called motor neurons. SMN1 genes on chromosome 5 cause
the defect in that form in SMA

Film, Spirited Away, By Miyazaki Hayao
In Miyazaki Hayao s animated film, Spirited Away, Miyazaki presents a young girl Chihiro who visits
an abandoned amusement park, only to become trapped in a fantasy world where spirits reside.
Although most of these creatures are very unique and quite unlike the others, most of them have one
thing in common: their body features are very disproportional compared to the size of their bodies.
This strange similarity depicted by Miyazaki invokes strong feelings of fear and appreciation in
particular for the viewer. While many characters have ominous, creepy appearances similar to that of a
ghost, they still have large eyes, blob shaped bodies, and they make little to no noise. These three
characteristics emphasize the helplessness the cuteness of these creatures. The ominous appearance of
the characters does however quickly begin to clash more obviously with their cute defining factors. In
one early particular scene, Chihiro encounters a radish spirit: a large, round creature whose body
shape resembles a radish. At first, the creature is threatening to the viewer, as it is large compared to
most characters and its appearance is foreign and bizarre. But even though the spirit appears scary,
Chihiro sticks around it briefly, and the viewer is prompted to further observes its figure. At that point,
the the rotundness of the spirit radish s figure becomes more apparent, and the viewer is lead to see
him as not just threatening anymore, but also cute. But things that are cute are

With the adoption of Christianity as the official religion, art was able, so to speak, to come above
ground in the old pagan city of Rome, and painting, instead of being restricted to the decoration of the
walls of the Catacombs or of small chambers and chapels, came into use on a large scale in the new
churches that were at once set up. At the same time patronage moved from the hands of the poorer
classes to the richer, and artists of outstanding quality came to be employed as well as those of
obscurer character, who would work for small fees (www.religion online.org). To wall painting was
added the more luxurious art of mosaic; numerous sculptures were done, and minor objects, often in
expensive materials, were in addition produced in the service of the Church, so that art production
became at the same time both more extensive and more luxurious (www.religion online.org ). A great
deal of the work that was done at this time has of course perished, more especially that in fragile
materials, such as textiles or paintings on panels, but a few mosaics of the fourth century and a good
many more of the fifth survive in Rome, and there is quite a lot of sculpture, both on a large scale in
stone and on a small in ivory. Something has already been said about the ivories, more especially the

The Militarization Of Officer Joe Cartoon Analysis

The Militarization of Officer Joe What comes to mind when hearing the word cops? Some may think
safety, others may think violence. It appears that there may be more answers than we first thought. In
the cartoon titled The Militarization of Officer Joe , by MAD Magazine, the topic of police procedures
in early 21 century America is introduced. The cartoon titled The Runaway , published in 1958, was
created by artist Norman Rockwell, depicting his view on 20th Century America. Norman Rockwell
passed away in 1978. In the year 2014, MAD magazine created a new cartoon in the same setting, but
of a completely different view. Many elements of imagery are built into the cartoon, including
balance, symbolism, captions, and emotion. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the then side, the caption of the image reads 1958: The Runaway. After reading this I noticed a
small red sack placed under the boy next to the cop. This informs that the boy being spoken to by the
police officer, may in fact be a runaway. Still, the situation does not seem to raise much concern to the
author, or even the police officer in that matter. The focus seems to be on the boy, being that he is most
likely the runaway, and the police officer means to calmly convince him of changing his mind. On the
now side of the cartoon, the caption reads 2014 The Militarization Of Officer Joe. Even the title of this
image is violent. Dressed as though going into military combat, this caption suits the image very well.
The police officer poses a much greater threat to the boy next to him on the now side, compared to the
then side. The captions under each image help to provide a much greater understanding of the message
in this cartoon. While one caption seems to focus on the boy and his well being, the other caption
focuses on the cop, and the violence associated with

Model And Assumptions Of The Royle Nichols Model
Model and Assumptions The Royle Nichols model allows estimation of abundance from multiple
observations of present absent animals without specifically marking the animal. This model represents
the spatial distribution of the species observed. Several assumptions are made but two of them are
fundamental for this model. First one is that the spatial distribution of the animals across survey sites
follows Poisson distribution, and second is the probability of detecting an animal at a site is a function
of how many animals are actually at that site. The Poisson distribution represents the mechanism of
spatial distribution which is simply how many animals occur at each site within the study area. This
model assumes that each site is home to a certain number of species and this number does not change
overtime, which means no deaths, births, immigration or emigration of the observed species. The
Poisson distribution has as the mean parameter λ ( lambda ) which is the mean abundance across the
observed sites.
The probability density formula of for Poisson distribution is F(x)= (e^ λ)* (λ^x)/ x! Where x is the
number of animals at a given site and F(x) is the generic term of any probability distribution. Given
this information we can find the probability that a specific number of animals occupy a given site. The
graph for this formula takes different shapes. For example, if we calculate this function for λ=3 and
x=5 animals, the result is a probability of 0.10. The graph

Becoming A Collegiate Or Professional Athlete
Many individuals grow up dreaming of becoming a collegiate or professional athlete. However, no
one achieves either level by chance. It takes talent, a desire to achieve greatness, and a willingness to
compete against other talented individuals to prove oneself in the world of sports. The growth of
eSports has created a new way in which to become a collegiate or professional athlete. The term
athlete, however, is filled with stereotypes. Many deem athletes as those trained or skilled in sports,
games, or exercises requiring strength, flexibility, and stamina. While video gamers may not be as
physically strong, they are highly skilled in a game, can be flexible, and definitely demonstrate
stamina. Consequently, video game players should be considered athletes at the collegiate and

Collaboration between programs and advocates can help ensure that victims are aware of all of the
options that are available to them. For example, in the area around Fresno State, Marjaree Mason
Center, a shelter for abused women, refers women to the Living Room, a center where community
members can get tested for HIV/AIDS, and vise versa. With these two programs working together,
victims can get the help that they need. Inclusion policy can also provide a way for organizations to
work together for the interest of others as they work together with a set of shared understanding
(Muscat, 2015). Many victims are not aware of the vast resources available to them. It is essential that
programs, organizations, and other institutions exist to inform victims of the rights that they have so
that they can overcome their struggles. In another example, the Coalition of Victim Attorneys and

Absolutism Under The Influence Of Samgha
Although it may not seem evident initially, even the Chinese Buddhist Association and therefore the
Chinese sangha ultimately remain under the control of the communist government. These goals
ultimately help the government have a say in Buddhist affairs because the Chinese Buddhist
Association cannot exist without the government in the first place. For example, the Chinese Buddhist
Association and the samgha completed the socialization of monasteries under the name of promoting
Buddhism (Welch 1961, 7). Under the Land Reform Act of 1960, monks and nuns received the same
amount of land as farmers. After land distribution, the number of monks in the monasteries continues
to decrease as many of them return to the laity (Welch 1961, 1). One monastery, for example, which

The process, known as political indoctrination, helps the samgha understand that although the
government possesses ultimate authority, their voices can influence interpretation of doctrines,
scriptures, and beliefs (Yu 1971, 54). Even where the samgha receives their education remains
centralized. Most samgha studies through the Chinese Buddhist College that is affiliated with the
Chinese Buddhist Association as well. The samgha are made aware of the relationships in politics and
religion. Since only one college controls the samgha teaching primarily, the process remains very
standardized and differences get eliminated. This helps maintain legitimacy and power because one
organization and its clergy makes the decisions rather than multiple organizations fighting over control
(Yu 1971, 55). Thus, the hierarchy gets further simplified because the Chinese government simply
answers to one organization, the Chinese Buddhist Association, rather than multiple organizations.
Ultimately, this strengthens the government s control over the

The Impact Of Black Friday On American Symbols, Values And...
INTRODUCTION
Background and Problem
September 11, 2001. I was busy finishing my Rapport de Stage in the Mackworth College Library,
Derby, England, when a lady came to spread the bad news. Four commercial jetliners were hijacked
and diverted from their paths to be used as guided missiles. Two of the jetliners ended up by crashing
into the twin towers of the World Trade Center, New York City, around 9:00 a.m. local time. Half an
hour later, the third jetliner crashed into the Pentagon, whereas the forth one, supposedly on its way to
Washington D.C., crashed somewhere in Pennsylvania. However, the implications of that Black
Tuesday were far more complicated than the mere reported facts.
To President George W. Bush, the operations that were carried out against his country did not merely
represent acts of terror on American symbols, values and interests, but they represented acts of war
against the United States and to a large extent, the attacks were acts of war, indeed. According to many
critics, these attacks were unprecedented in American history in that they presented a direct, potential
threat to the American territory. The gravity of the event was manifest not only in terms of the scale of
the attacks, but also in terms of the direction in which the guns were pointed. As Chomsky explains
[t]he last time the national territory of the United States was under attack, or for that matter even
threatened, was when the British burned

The Civil War and American Art Exhibit at the New York...
On Saturday, June 15 I attended the Civil War and American Art exhibit at the New York Metropolitan
Museum of Art. There were a number of different people who were present on this occasion. I believe
there were so many people there because this is one of the better known art galleries throughout New
York. Additionally, the fact that today was part of the weekend probably contributed to the massive
crowds of people present. Not everyone was there to attend the Civil War and American Art exhibit,
however; there were several other exhibits taking place in different locations throughout the museum
that day. The exhibit contained upwards of 20 photographs and at least 60 paintings. One of the most
agreeable things about the works of art that I witnessed is that collectively, they assisted in recounting
the sentiment that gripped the country during the war that threatened to sunder it. One could almost
feel the initial enthusiasm as the war broke out, that was swiftly prolonged by numerous clashes over a
period of years. There were works that alluded to an impending war, ones that depicted that war, and
numerous ones that hinted at a hoped for ending in which the mightiness of the country would
someday be restored. One of the pieces that I found to be the most moving was Frederic Edwin
Church s Our Banner in the Sky , which was painted during the war s outset in 1861. This is one of the
pieces in which the enthusiasm for the war was quite clearly seen. In this work, the

Why People Go Out And Commit Crimes
It has always been a part of the American society for women to become wives, then mothers, and

taboo and unheard of. Women that commit crimes was even an bigger monstrosity to think about. But
trends have been changing rapidly in our culture than now makes it even more likely for women to go
out and offend. Several theories have been created in an attempt to understand why people go out and
commit crimes. If one were to study what would be considered a mainstream theory, they would find
that they typically do not pertain to women offenders. Take heed, however, that feminist theories of

Then the circumference around the city is where the crime rate would lessen, meaning the further
away one is from the center of the city, the less likely crime is to occur. The article by da Silva (2014)
further explains that:
Shaw and McKay affirmed that three structural factors low socioeconomic status, ethnic
heterogeneity, and residential mobility disrupt a community s social organization, which in turn
explains the spatial variations in the rates of crime and delinquency. Thus the community, treated as a
small area in the interior of the urban space, became the unit of analysis of the environmental
sociologist in the search for the causes of crime in large cities.
When a city is of low socioeconomic status, the residents are likely faced with many stresses that can
push them to commit crimes, like stealing clothes or food because they cannot afford to dress and feed
their families. A high ethnic heterogeneity can be problematic and crime causing because people tend
to get along with others that think and feel the same way they do, inciting lawbreaking. Residential
mobility refers to the ability of the residents in a high crime area to move freely to commit deviant
acts and a high rate of migration in and out of the city. With these three factors present in a
community, it will be considered disorganized, and the conditions for illegal behavior would be
perfect.

The Importance Of Religions
Before I begin to talk about my personal calling, allow me to share some wisdom I heard at my first
SEND Conference in the Fall of 2014. Christians make such a major ordeal of their call . In churches
across the country, people ask others what s your call or use a lack of a Macedonian Call as an excuse
to not be evangelistic. I came to Holmes with that mindset. I knew I was called to missions. I had gone
to Honduras in September 2011. Before that, I had heard Isaiah 6:8 while Steve Harrelson was trying
to recruit people for the trip. I knew that I had always loved history, geography, and anything
involving other cultures. My favorite channel was the Travel Channel; my favorite program was
Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern . So I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Jamie Dunning spoke about his work among the people of Kenya using sustainable missions. He
spoke about using micro business loans to start chicken houses for the people of Kenya. It gives them
a job and source of income/food in an economy where money and food are scarce. It also gives the
people, the indigenous church, a self reliant mindset. This may sound brash or strange but consider
how a strongly independent people feel when they are the recipient of a welfare state mindset in
regard to missions? They feel stupid, weak and dependent on outside sources. In turn, this causes them
to view the religion of the missionary as something foreign or not their own . That is the polar
opposite of what we desire for the indigenous church (a term borrowed from Melvin Hodge). The
church is a united network of multicultural, multiethnic, and international groups who work for a
single purpose. Paul uses the analogy of the human body quite befittingly in regard to the Body of
Christ. ( The Indigenous Church by Melvin Hodge. Title quoted not line from book) Because of the
Dunning s use of sustainable missions, the church is not only growing in Kenya but also sustaining
itself. They have pride in what they do. They are able to share the Gospel by providing for the social
needs of the people. This is biblical social justice at work (Isaiah 56:1). This has inspired me to follow
suit and practice sustainable missions in whatever regard

Porters 5 Forces and the Domestic Aviaition Industry in...
EXECUTIVE SUMMERY
There are only two major airlines in the Australian domestic aviation market, Qantas and Virgin Blue.
Qantas has introduced a subsidiary, Jetstar, to compete directly with Virgin Blue in the low cost carrier
market and Qantas still hold the majority of the market share with 65%. Virgin Blue continues to
increase their presence in the market holding the remaining 35%.
At the end of March 2003 Virgin Blue posted a profit before tax of $158 billion, $58 billion over their
budget and over $100 billion on last year s results. Virgin Blue also received the best EBITDAR per
plane for any airline in the world, beating Qantas by $900,000. This means that the challenge for
Virgin Blue is to continue to offer the cheapest ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A new entrant to the airline industry does not have any trouble with their distribution channels, as the
only distribution required is that of marketing their service, which is open to any company who wishes
to do so.
In the case of Virgin Blue there was no cost disadvantage because Virgin Atlantic had been operating
for many years and so the company was aware of how to operate an airline business and Qantas did
not have a great deal of advantage over them in the industry. Unfortunately n the airline industry any
one who wishes to enter is required to invest a great deal of money, as it is an expensive industry. The
economies of scale and capital requirements may deter new business who are just starting to enter but
an existing business such as the Virgin empire are able to invest the money into starting out in the
airline industry in Australia.
The biggest challenge facing any new entrants and Virgin Blue is competing with the brand
identification of Qantas and the following that they have from the Australian public. When Virgin
Blue first entered the market they were also competing with Ansett for customers and since the
collapse of Ansett, Virgin Blue and Qantas had to compete for their customers. Qantas has established
a frequent flyer program to keep

Arctic Wolf
Wolves are one of the smartest, and fiercest animals alive. Wolves are known for being great at
hunting, and very dangerous and mysterious. I m here to tell you how the life of a wolf is, and how
they re not dangerous to us humans. Wolves mainly live in the Arctic, North America, Europe, and
Asia. Like in the Arctic, and North America they ve learned to survive on fat stored amongst their
bodies. There are over 12,000 wolves that live in Europe like the Eurasian wolf, a Russian Forest Wolf
which is a type of grey wolf. In Asia grey wolves used to live there but now most just live in Asian
countries. They also in the forest because there s a lot more to prey on, and it s easier to adapt their.

Wild Bill Hickock was an Outlaw of the Old West
James Butler Hickock, also known as Wild Bill Hickock, was born in Homer, Illinois (now Troye
Grove, Illinois) on May 27, 1837. He was an outlaw of the American Old West. He was a skilled
gunfighter, gambler, and lawman, which are some of the many reasons why he is famous. Hickock
was born and raised on a farm in Illinois. He went west at the age of 18 in 1855 first working as a
stagecoach driver, then as a lawman in Kansas and Nebraska. While in Nebraska, Hickok was often
called Duck Bill . He grew a mustache and began referring to himself as Wild Bill . He fought and
spied for the Union Army during the American Civil War. wild bill.jpg On March 22, 1858, he was
elected as constable of Monticello Township, Kansas. A year later, he joined the Russell, Waddell,
Majors Freight Co, the company of the Pony Express. In 1860, he was seriously injured by a bear
while driving a freight team from Missouri to Texas. He found the road they were taking blocked by a
Cinnamon bear and its two cubs. He dismounted and approached the bear. He shot it in the head, but
the bullet ricocheted from its skull. The bear attacked, crushing him with its body. Hickock slashed its
throat with a knife. When the Civil War began in April 1861, Hickok signed up as a teamster for the
Union Army in Sedalia, Missouri. In September 1862, he was discharged for an unknown reason.
There are no known records of him for over a year, though historians think that Hickok was operating

The Ohio Art Company s Business Practices Essay example
1) The main reason for Ohio Art Company s decision to move its production to china was simply to
stay in business. When asked if it was an ethical decision, you must look at the company as a whole
and not just the sake of their employees. Even though OAC does have moral obligations to its
employees, they also have moral obligations to there stakeholders as well. OAC s main goal was to
keep overall costs for its most popular product the Etch A Sketch under $10 or else lost money. On an
economic perspective, with the move to China Americans would achieve lower prices plus lower
overall cost while the move would give Chinese villagers a higher paying job and possibly a better
life. A win/win situation if you ask me. Under the Friedman ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The righteous moralist claims that a multinational s home country standards of ethics are appropriate
ones in all countries. In this case the OAC should stop doing business with Kin Ki due to its labor and
human rights violations. But to some people, these poor working conditions may be acceptable in
developing countries such as China. The second moralist view: The naïve immoralist states that if a
manager sees that firms from other nations are not following ethical norms in a host country then they
should not either. In this situation, one would think that since China has a bad reputation of violating
human rights and using cheap labor through sweatshops, then it would be okay for the OAC to do the
same, which is a very bad way of doing business. I think that OAC should make sure that their
workers at Kin Ki are being taken care of in and out of the factory, if not then OAC should stop doing
business with Kin Ki immediately and end their contract.
3) It is possible for executives from OAC as well as Mr. Killgallon to have no knowledge of labor
problems at Kin Ki but it is very unlikely. The only plausible way they wouldn t have any knowledge
of the labor problems is if the company s executives have never done business or stepped foot into
China to see for themselves the poor working conditions Chinese workers face everyday. Usually the
top executives would be on top of things and pretty knowledgeable on

African American Slavery Case Study
The establishment of slavery has profoundly had an impact on the lives of African Americans both
during the slavery period and after it. Many innocent Africans were taken from their home continent
of Africa and brought to various places throughout the world to be sold off as slaves and forced into a
system of free labor. But the system of slavery in America was a profitable, lucrative and harsh
system. Slaves faced many obstacles during the period of slavery, and after the Civil War when all
slaves were officially considered free. They were brought here against their own will, many died along
the way here, typically from malnutrition or disease. The ones that survived were often forced into
labor, separated from the families, typically working on farms/plantations. Farm life for slaves was
considered brutal, many worked long hours in harsh conditions, typically in severe weather, and
continuous labor with little time for breaks or rests. The death of many slaves was often linked to
slaves being overworked, along with the health risks that they suffered, usually caused by the
cultivation of cash crops such as tobacco and cotton. Even though slaves faced many obstacles in
America, they never lost a sense of the culture and tried to preserve as much of their traditions and
values. Even through many of the major obstacles that both enslaved and free African Americans
faced. The biggest obstacle, that they faced was discrimination. One example of blacks being

How Does Neurodegenerative Disease Affect Personality...
There are times when you wonder if your love ones have been robbed of their personality identities.
They are no longer acting like they used to, is things everyone around you are saying. Scientists Nina
Strohminger and Shaun Nichols also wondered how does personality identity in individuals with
Neurodegenerative diseases affect the change in their personality identity. The underlying question is
what is the impact of someone with these diseases and their relationships with others. Are you affected
when your love one s identity change?
Psychologists Strohminger and Nichols took a few more steps farther to finding out the answers to
these questions. There is a widespread notice, both within the sciences and among the general public,
that mental deterioration can rob individuals of their identity. Yet there have no systematic
investigations of what types of cognitive damage lead people to appear to no longer be themselves.
We measured perceived ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They found out that not all patients with neurodegenerative diseases had personality identities loss but
it does most affect perceived identity. Their results showed that frontotemporal dementia has the
greatest effect on perceived identity and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis has the least. While Alzheimer s
disease had more identity disruption and also shows different changes in daily function compared to
the other in their moral identity. We further demonstrated that perceived identity change fully mediates
the impact of neurodegenerative disease on relationship deterioration between patient and caregiver.
(Strohminger Nichols, 2015). (A) Based off of the data and results they concluded it was best if they
shared their findings with the public. Psychologists Strohminger and Nichols decided to write an

Similarities Between Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban
Did you know that the moon has eight phases every month? It spins around the earth slowly, and the
position that the moon is in and can be seen from is one phase. One of those phases is called the full
moon. That is when the entire illuminated side of the moon is facing Earth. That happens once a
month. As you already know, werewolves are humans that shift into uncontrollable wolves once a
month, during the night of the full moon. In Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, this happens.
They had developed a potion that a werewolf would take before the full moon, in its human form, and
then when the werewolf turns, it would turn into a lethargic, slumberous, harmless wolf. This
werewolf in the aforementioned story was relieved that

Examples Of Beauty In Dancer From The Dance
In the novel Dancer from the Dance the author uses beauty and aesthetics in many different ways. The
author uses beauty and aesthetics in ways such as, the night life in the city, the relationships between
the characters in Dancer from the Dance, the clothing that the character s wear, and the way each
character looks. The characters in Dancer from the Dance feel like themselves when they are able to
dress, act, and go places where they won t be judged by others. The author shows the reader that
during the day the characters have to hide who they really are so that they won t be judged by society,
but at night the characters are free to do what they want and won t be judged for it because they will
be with others like themselves. The characters do the things that they do because that is who they are,
and there is beauty in those things.
The characters in Dancer from the Dance dress in normal clothing during the day so that they can fit
into society. One of the main characters in the novel is Andrew Sutherland. Andrew Sutherland dresses
as a drag queen at night when he goes out to gay bars at night. He dresses as drag queen because that
makes him feel like himself. For some gay males, clothing is a semiotic
marker for identity creation. (Schofield). Sutherland is a man that has money and a sense for fashion.
Since he has the money to buy nice expensive clothes, he does. Because of their spending power, gay
consumers have been found to be more brand and fashion conscious

The Babylonian Of The Assyrian Army
This research paper is about one aspect of the ancient world that I have analyzed and the topic that I
have done this research on is the Assyrian Army. I will give a detailed analysis with precise and
concise information with well presented information with credible claims to support my paper and my
thesis statement that .The Assyrian Army was the most organized Army in the Ancient near east; they
conquered the Dark Age era with their tactical and physical nature of militant system which makes
them the best army of all time . The Worldview connection is that the Assyrian was into terror and
believed that they were immortal which shows how brutal they were. The Assyrians not only viewed
themselves as a great army but had a worldview that was set as the foundation of western civilization
which was more polytheistic. Assyria is a major Mesopotamian East Semitic kingdom and empire of
the Ancient Near East, existed as an independent state for a period of approximately nineteen
centuries, from the 25th century BCE to the 6th century BCE, spanning the mid to Early Bronze Age
through to the late Iron Age. (Humanities 26) For a short time the Assyrians became the first people to
rule both Egypt and Mesopotamia. The Assyrians came to rule powerful empires at several times. As
mentioned in class by (Mesner 08 28 2015) the Make up a substantial part of the greater
Mesopotamian cradle of civilization, which included Sumer, Akkad and much later Babylonia, Assyria

There are issues in the U.S today just like any other country in this world. There are especially more
after our last presidency because Obama didn t make the best decisions. Now the U.S. is coming up on
the next election and we need someone who can fix these issues and problems. That s where James
Stuart Gilmore, who wishes to be known as Jim, comes in. Jim Gilmore is a 66 year old man who
grew up in the working class area of Richmond, Virginia. He is a Republican candidate who has
served in the Army, as the governor of Virginia, and is a member of the National Rifle Association s
Board of Directors still to this day. (2)He would be focussed on the issues of the U.S. and bring the
U.S. back its potential. I am committed to addressing the central problems facing the nation, is Jim
Gilmore s exact words when he announced he is running for president. (3) I believe Jim Gilmore
would be a good president for this nation because of his stance on gun control, foreign relations, and
abortion which are major problems in the U.S. today. There are many problems in the U.S but Jim
Gilmore is focusing on three that have been troubling the U.S. There have been many questions on
abortion. Should it be legal? Should there be a time range? Should it be banned? There has even been
religion brought into the fight. Jim Gilmore says that it shouldn t be allowed before eight weeks of
pregnancy and no later than twelve weeks of pregnancy. (1) Gun control has also caused a havoc in

  • 3. A Short Note On The Edict Of Milan After the fascinating discoveries from Marco Polo, another event that was significant throughout Western Civilization is the Edict of Milan. The Edict of Milan was a declaration that permanently established religious tolerance for Christianity within the Roman Empire. The outcome of the political agreement concluded, of course, in Milan, between emperors of Constantine I and Licinius, in February 313. The declaration, was made for the East by Licinius, granting all people the freedom of any religion they wanted to worship. Also, it assured Christians of legal rights, including the right to organize churches. Not only granting them freedom of religion and legal rights, but giving back the property that was confiscated (brittanica.com). The Edict of Milan was a significant event because it gave Christians rights and made Christianity a set religion. Not only did the Edict of Milan make Christianity a set religion, it made everybody in Western Civilization tolerate it. If it was not for Constantine I and Licinius in February of 313 coming up with the Edict of Milan, Christianity would not be the set religion until later. Throughout Western Civilization, and without the Edict of Milan, Christians would not only have any rights and no land. Also, there would not be any Christian churches throughout Western Civilization if it was not for the Edict of Milan. Following the Edict of Milan giving Christianity tolerance, Jonathan Gutenberg inventing the printing press is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Movie Let The Right One Let the Right One In, is a wonderful film that captures positive qualities from Carmilla and achieves what Twilight so desperately attempts. In many ways this film is an adaptation of Carmilla, highlighting the friendship between a vampire and younger child. In both stories, the human struggles internally with their strong feelings towards the vampire, and their moral obligated to hate them. In both cases, the protagonist struggles with a strong attraction to the vampire coupled with a moral repulsion to the vampire s nature and behavior (Ridenhour). In comparison with Twilight, Let the Right One In tells a story of love with no barriers. Prefers to help rather than hurt the person who is suppose to be their prey (Tyree). In both stories, the vampires repeatedly push the human away, only to grow a stronger attraction. Though the human knows or at least has a hunch their new friend is not human, this does not sway their attraction. The difference is, in Twilight, Edward s secret is that he is a vampire, in Let the Right One In, Eli s secret is not that he is vampire, but that he is a boy. This is subtlety shown in the movie when Eli s castration is briefly shown. In the book it is told, Eli was turned (into a vampire) in the 18th century by a vampire who castrated him and drank the blood from the wound (Ridenhour). In all three stories, there is a tale told of complete loneliness, whether it s Laura s isolation from the outside world, Bella s feelings of being an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I did noticed some lexical borrowing when he tried to say something in Spanish, he pretty much made up an English word into Spanish, which it was more like Spanglish type of deal. For example, instead of saying relationship , he would say relachion or money to monero. I thought it was funny and he was just joking, but he was actually serious. I corrected him and asked if he knew he was wrong; he said he kind of knew, but that every time he makes up words, it makes his customers laugh, and that laughter always creates money in his business. As mentioned in Multiple Voices , not all bilinguals use both skills in all context or even means that the person is able to be proficient on both languages. Also, he falls into the vertical multilingualism category due to the fact that he lives in an urban area and has to interact with people who speak different languages. I believe societies are multilingual because of minorities that live in the United States and speak English, which is the dominant language group in America. When this protective membrane is damaged, muscles fibers begins to leak the protein creatine kinase and take on excess calcium, which causes further harm. Does DMD affect boys and girls equally? If not, who are primarily affected and why? Because DMD is an inherited in X linked recessive pattern, and males only have one copy of the X chromosome, not like female that two copies of x chromosome, if one copy does not work there is another one to produce dystrophin. With an X linked recessive condition, the chance of passing on the change (non working) copy of the gene to a child is different for males and females (National Human Genome Research Institute, 2013). • 11. Film, Spirited Away, By Miyazaki Hayao In Miyazaki Hayao s animated film, Spirited Away, Miyazaki presents a young girl Chihiro who visits an abandoned amusement park, only to become trapped in a fantasy world where spirits reside. Although most of these creatures are very unique and quite unlike the others, most of them have one thing in common: their body features are very disproportional compared to the size of their bodies. This strange similarity depicted by Miyazaki invokes strong feelings of fear and appreciation in particular for the viewer. While many characters have ominous, creepy appearances similar to that of a ghost, they still have large eyes, blob shaped bodies, and they make little to no noise. These three characteristics emphasize the helplessness the cuteness of these creatures. The ominous appearance of the characters does however quickly begin to clash more obviously with their cute defining factors. In one early particular scene, Chihiro encounters a radish spirit: a large, round creature whose body shape resembles a radish. At first, the creature is threatening to the viewer, as it is large compared to most characters and its appearance is foreign and bizarre. But even though the spirit appears scary, Chihiro sticks around it briefly, and the viewer is prompted to further observes its figure. At that point, the the rotundness of the spirit radish s figure becomes more apparent, and the viewer is lead to see him as not just threatening anymore, but also cute. Jewish, Early Christian, Byzantine and Islamic Art Teri Wilson March 1, 2010 Professor Hollinger Module 5 JEWISH, EARLY CHRISTIAN, BYZANTINE AND ISLAMIC ART Every religion has its own approach to art and architecture. An assessment between different traditions can offer an illuminating insight into the varying religious outlooks and theologies. Architecture, as well as art, is influenced by a number of forces in society, in the environment, in the psychology of the people who produce it, and in different institutions. It is an expression of inner feelings and beliefs and so naturally is influenced by religion in many societies. With the adoption of Christianity as the official religion, art was able, so to speak, to come above ground in the old pagan city of Rome, and painting, instead of being restricted to the decoration of the walls of the Catacombs or of small chambers and chapels, came into use on a large scale in the new churches that were at once set up. At the same time patronage moved from the hands of the poorer classes to the richer, and artists of outstanding quality came to be employed as well as those of obscurer character, who would work for small fees (www.religion online.org). To wall painting was added the more luxurious art of mosaic; numerous sculptures were done, and minor objects, often in expensive materials, were in addition produced in the service of the Church, so that art production became at the same time both more extensive and more luxurious (www.religion online.org ). A great deal of the work that was done at this time has of course perished, more especially that in fragile materials, such as textiles or paintings on panels, but a few mosaics of the fourth century and a good many more of the fifth survive in Rome, and there is quite a lot of sculpture, both on a large scale in stone and on a small in ivory. Some may think safety, others may think violence. It appears that there may be more answers than we first thought. In the cartoon titled The Militarization of Officer Joe , by MAD Magazine, the topic of police procedures in early 21 century America is introduced. The cartoon titled The Runaway , published in 1958, was created by artist Norman Rockwell, depicting his view on 20th Century America. Norman Rockwell passed away in 1978. In the year 2014, MAD magazine created a new cartoon in the same setting, but of a completely different view. On the then side, the caption of the image reads 1958: The Runaway. After reading this I noticed a small red sack placed under the boy next to the cop. This informs that the boy being spoken to by the police officer, may in fact be a runaway. Still, the situation does not seem to raise much concern to the author, or even the police officer in that matter. The focus seems to be on the boy, being that he is most likely the runaway, and the police officer means to calmly convince him of changing his mind. On the now side of the cartoon, the caption reads 2014 The Militarization Of Officer Joe. Even the title of this image is violent. Dressed as though going into military combat, this caption suits the image very well. The police officer poses a much greater threat to the boy next to him on the now side, compared to the then side. While one caption seems to focus on the boy and his well being, the other caption focuses on the cop, and the violence associated with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Model And Assumptions Of The Royle Nichols Model Model and Assumptions The Royle Nichols model allows estimation of abundance from multiple observations of present absent animals without specifically marking the animal. This model represents the spatial distribution of the species observed. Several assumptions are made but two of them are fundamental for this model. First one is that the spatial distribution of the animals across survey sites follows Poisson distribution, and second is the probability of detecting an animal at a site is a function of how many animals are actually at that site. The Poisson distribution represents the mechanism of spatial distribution which is simply how many animals occur at each site within the study area. This model assumes that each site is home to a certain number of species and this number does not change overtime, which means no deaths, births, immigration or emigration of the observed species. The Poisson distribution has as the mean parameter λ ( lambda ) which is the mean abundance across the observed sites. The probability density formula of for Poisson distribution is F(x)= (e^ λ)* (λ^x)/ x! Where x is the number of animals at a given site and F(x) is the generic term of any probability distribution. Given this information we can find the probability that a specific number of animals occupy a given site. The graph for this formula takes different shapes. For example, if we calculate this function for λ=3 and x=5 animals, the result is a probability of 0.10. The graph ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It takes talent, a desire to achieve greatness, and a willingness to compete against other talented individuals to prove oneself in the world of sports. The growth of eSports has created a new way in which to become a collegiate or professional athlete. The term athlete, however, is filled with stereotypes. Many deem athletes as those trained or skilled in sports, games, or exercises requiring strength, flexibility, and stamina. In order to address specific problems appropriately, campuses need to do a thorough analysis of the crimes that are being reported and not reported on campus, looking for trends in location, time of day, and more. According to a report of the White House Task Force (2014), one way that college campuses can do this is with a campus climate survey to identify the extent of the problem of sexual violence crimes on their campuses. Identifying specific trends will allow a more detailed plan of action to be implemented that is specific to each schools specific crime demographics. Absolutism Under The Influence Of Samgha Although it may not seem evident initially, even the Chinese Buddhist Association and therefore the Chinese sangha ultimately remain under the control of the communist government. These goals ultimately help the government have a say in Buddhist affairs because the Chinese Buddhist Association cannot exist without the government in the first place. For example, the Chinese Buddhist Association and the samgha completed the socialization of monasteries under the name of promoting Buddhism (Welch 1961, 7). Under the Land Reform Act of 1960, monks and nuns received the same amount of land as farmers. After land distribution, the number of monks in the monasteries continues to decrease as many of them return to the laity (Welch 1961, 1). The samgha are made aware of the relationships in politics and religion. Since only one college controls the samgha teaching primarily, the process remains very standardized and differences get eliminated. This helps maintain legitimacy and power because one organization and its clergy makes the decisions rather than multiple organizations fighting over control (Yu 1971, 55). • 19. The Impact Of Black Friday On American Symbols, Values And... INTRODUCTION Background and Problem September 11, 2001. I was busy finishing my Rapport de Stage in the Mackworth College Library, Derby, England, when a lady came to spread the bad news. Four commercial jetliners were hijacked and diverted from their paths to be used as guided missiles. Two of the jetliners ended up by crashing into the twin towers of the World Trade Center, New York City, around 9:00 a.m. local time. Half an hour later, the third jetliner crashed into the Pentagon, whereas the forth one, supposedly on its way to Washington D.C., crashed somewhere in Pennsylvania. However, the implications of that Black Tuesday were far more complicated than the mere reported facts. To President George W. Bush, the operations that were carried out against his country did not merely represent acts of terror on American symbols, values and interests, but they represented acts of war against the United States and to a large extent, the attacks were acts of war, indeed. According to many critics, these attacks were unprecedented in American history in that they presented a direct, potential threat to the American territory. The gravity of the event was manifest not only in terms of the scale of the attacks, but also in terms of the direction in which the guns were pointed. As Chomsky explains [t]he last time the national territory of the United States was under attack, or for that matter even threatened, was when the British burned ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. The Civil War and American Art Exhibit at the New York... On Saturday, June 15 I attended the Civil War and American Art exhibit at the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art. There were a number of different people who were present on this occasion. I believe there were so many people there because this is one of the better known art galleries throughout New York. Additionally, the fact that today was part of the weekend probably contributed to the massive crowds of people present. Not everyone was there to attend the Civil War and American Art exhibit, however; there were several other exhibits taking place in different locations throughout the museum that day. The exhibit contained upwards of 20 photographs and at least 60 paintings. One of the most agreeable things about the works of art that I witnessed is that collectively, they assisted in recounting the sentiment that gripped the country during the war that threatened to sunder it. One could almost feel the initial enthusiasm as the war broke out, that was swiftly prolonged by numerous clashes over a period of years. There were works that alluded to an impending war, ones that depicted that war, and numerous ones that hinted at a hoped for ending in which the mightiness of the country would someday be restored. One of the pieces that I found to be the most moving was Frederic Edwin Church s Our Banner in the Sky , which was painted during the war s outset in 1861. This is one of the pieces in which the enthusiasm for the war was quite clearly seen. In this work, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For a woman to venture out into the world was taboo and unheard of. Women that commit crimes was even an bigger monstrosity to think about. But trends have been changing rapidly in our culture than now makes it even more likely for women to go out and offend. Several theories have been created in an attempt to understand why people go out and commit crimes. Then the circumference around the city is where the crime rate would lessen, meaning the further away one is from the center of the city, the less likely crime is to occur. The article by da Silva (2014) further explains that: Shaw and McKay affirmed that three structural factors low socioeconomic status, ethnic heterogeneity, and residential mobility disrupt a community s social organization, which in turn explains the spatial variations in the rates of crime and delinquency. Thus the community, treated as a small area in the interior of the urban space, became the unit of analysis of the environmental sociologist in the search for the causes of crime in large cities. When a city is of low socioeconomic status, the residents are likely faced with many stresses that can push them to commit crimes, like stealing clothes or food because they cannot afford to dress and feed their families. A high ethnic heterogeneity can be problematic and crime causing because people tend to get along with others that think and feel the same way they do, inciting lawbreaking. Residential mobility refers to the ability of the residents in a high crime area to move freely to commit deviant acts and a high rate of migration in and out of the city. With these three factors present in a community, it will be considered disorganized, and the conditions for illegal behavior would be perfect. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This may sound brash or strange but consider how a strongly independent people feel when they are the recipient of a welfare state mindset in regard to missions? They feel stupid, weak and dependent on outside sources. In turn, this causes them to view the religion of the missionary as something foreign or not their own . That is the polar opposite of what we desire for the indigenous church (a term borrowed from Melvin Hodge). • 28. African American Slavery Case Study The establishment of slavery has profoundly had an impact on the lives of African Americans both during the slavery period and after it. Many innocent Africans were taken from their home continent of Africa and brought to various places throughout the world to be sold off as slaves and forced into a system of free labor. But the system of slavery in America was a profitable, lucrative and harsh system. Slaves faced many obstacles during the period of slavery, and after the Civil War when all slaves were officially considered free. They were brought here against their own will, many died along the way here, typically from malnutrition or disease. The ones that survived were often forced into labor, separated from the families, typically working on farms/plantations. Farm life for slaves was considered brutal, many worked long hours in harsh conditions, typically in severe weather, and continuous labor with little time for breaks or rests. The death of many slaves was often linked to slaves being overworked, along with the health risks that they suffered, usually caused by the cultivation of cash crops such as tobacco and cotton. Even though slaves faced many obstacles in America, they never lost a sense of the culture and tried to preserve as much of their traditions and values.
