Describe the importance of Calpurnia in the lives of the...
Describe the importance of Calpurnia in the lives of the Finch family, and in the novel as a whole.
Calpurnia is more than just a family cook to the Finch s. She also acts as the mother to Jem and
Scout by helping to bring them up, teaching them right from wrong, disciplining them and
comforting them when they were upset because their mother died when they were very young.
She has worked for the Finch s for a very long time and has a very firm control over the children
which causes Scout to resent her.
Atticus trusts and supports Calpurnia because he considers her as a very important member of the
family. For example he says Alexandra,
Calpurnia s not leaving this house until she wants to. You may think otherwise, but I... Show more

Calpurnia is intelligent and is one of the few Negroes in Maycomb who can read and write. She
even taught Scout how to write by setting her tasks like copying a passage from the bible to keep
her quite when she was board, so she is important in teaching the children. She lives two lives, one
working for the Finch family who are white, and another at her home with her fellow Negroes. She
acts and speaks differently around her friends and the children find this very surprising when they
find out.
Some of the main themes in To Kill a Mockingbird are Courage, Family,
Prejudice and Hatred and I think Calpurnia is important in all of these themes.
Calpurnia gives the children courage by telling them not to worry and that every thing will be
alright for instance during the time of the court case and the leading up to it she told them to
stay strong and not to listen to what people are saying about Atticus or the way he s bringing Jen
and Scout up. Also when she took the children to church she had the courage to stand up to her
fellow Negro (Lula) who didn t want the white children in the Black church and said to her they s
my comp ny and It s the same God, ain t it? . This made Lula annoyed so she went away and didn
t say another word.
She is very important in the family theme because she is part of the
Finch family and she is also part of the Negro family so in the novel she shows how you can be
part of two different kinds of families

Disadvantages Of Teamwork
Individual efforts cannot fulfill organizational goals on their own. No one person can create,
accomplish or innovate more than a team can. Teamwork is a multifaceted process that requires
individuals to work cohesively towards a common organizational goal. The effectiveness of the
organization relies on the ability of teams to efficiently work together. Individual efforts will gain
momentum as collaboration fuels the ability to accomplish tasks quicker and with better solutions.
One of the best benefits of utilizing teamworkin an organization includes reaching synergy.
Working together to reach synergy is creating a final product that is better than what would have
been created by the individual member s sum of abilities. During collaboration the capabilities of
employees are multiplied to the point where process gain is reached, or acquiring more than
expected based on individual capabilities present (Colquitt et al., 2017). In order to reach this state
of cohesion, teams must engage effectively in the four team work processes including taskwork
processes, teamwork processes, communication processes and team states. Taskwork processes
include the activities of team members that directly relate to accomplishing team goals. Activities
include brainstorming, reaching a consensus, and appointing people to go outside the team in order
to coordinate and find resources for the group. Teamwork processes include preparing the
environment for taskwork processes to be carried out.

Negligent Misrepresentation And Negligence Misrepresentation
.4 A Negligent Misrepresentation A negligent misrepresentation is the one, which came into
existence or was made recklessly, or without convincible justifications for considering it to be
factual. From what the research has driven, conceptually, the developments of negligent
misrepresentation started with Hedley Byrne Co Ltd v. Heller Partners. Nevertheless, a solution in
tort for negligent misinformation that the other party has provided. In addition, consider that a
contract would be created, yet the innocent party beard the loss based on this case. The
Misrepresentation Act 1967 expands the legal remedies to included the consumers and allowed to
them, when they come into a contract that is affected by a misrepresentation, which has been made
by the seller. The Act deals with the circumstances when a consumer finds that he/she can cancel
the contract under the case of an innocent or negligent misrepresentation with the right to claim
damages as a legal remedy or solution. It was notable that the act gave the consumer the legal right
to be compensated for the loss, which happens from any misleading signal (misstatement) that
caused the inducing to enter a contract. The exceptional case here when the issuer of the statement
will be able to submit evidence proving the reasonable grounds of the believing that the facts
corresponded to were true at the time of the contract. The consumer, directly through civil
proceedings may enforce the remedies presented by the Act. The

STATEMENT OF THE CASE In March 2013, the Professional Baseball Association selected
Victoria City, Victoria ( Victoria City ) to host the league s 2015 All Star Game ( All Star Game
). R. 2. The Victoria City Board of Supervisors ( Board ) and the Association agreed that the game
would be held on July 14, 2015. R. 2. The game would be held at Cadbury Park, a stadium in the
Starwood Park neighborhood in the downtown area of Victoria City. R. 2.
Public Outcry Gang activity is a prevalent problem in the Starwood Park area. R. 2. The area is
controlled by two rival gangs: Starwood Homeboyz and 707 Hermanos. R. 2. These gangs engage
in a variety of illegal activities but their most profitable venture is human trafficking. R. 2. Gangs in
the area are estimated to control up to 1,500 conscripted sex workers, many of which are likely
children. R. 2. Gangs have found that they can make more from pimping while taking on less risk.
R. 2. These groups use hard to monitor webpages like backpage.com to advertise, which police
have a difficult time tracking. R. 2. City officials expected the All Star Game would draw tens of
thousands of visitors to Starwood Park. R. 2. Citizen groups quickly raised concerns that the game
would cause more human trafficking activity in the neighborhood. R. 2. They argued that other
cities experienced large increases in sex trafficking when large sporting events were hosted in their
cities. R. 2.

Introduction
Since man has looked to the heavens, he has used some form of identification to recognize the stars
. Early man named the constellations he could see in his own ways. Even the ancient Australian
Aboriginals used stories of the stars to identify times of the year for different things, be it song
lines, migration, vegetation growth and ripening, the list goes on. The Australian Aboriginals today
still refer to the Milky Way s galactic centre and coal sack nebula, as they are seen from earth, as
the Emu; as it traverses the sky and ultimately out of visual, the song line changes and talks about it

core samples of the permafrost, using this data to make reasonable hypotheses about what our
climate will do in the future; we, humans, want to know more about what s happening in the
universe, including confirming the assumption that life exists beyond our solar system. To do
this, Astronomers when looking to the skies, are looking into the past. Why? One of the
universal constants, light. Light has a finite speed and as a result of the tyranny of distance, light
can only travel so far in a given Earth Year. This means that when we are observing galaxies
today, we are looking into the past, hundreds of thousands of years to billions of years ago.
However, just looking at galaxies is not good enough to be able to make these hypotheses. Wolf

John Crowe Ransom
John Crowe Ransom s Bells for John Whiteside s Daughter is a classic example of a poem,
mourning a death. The title name suggest that the girl was no family member or relative of the
poet and was just the daughter of some John Whiteside suggesting that there was no close
relation of the poet and the girl. As we go through the poem for the first time it appears to us that
it s a poem about a girl s past activities who later dies but after several readings and contemplation
we come to know that the poet was emotionally attached to the girl, feeling her pain and her loss. It
is a 5 stanzapoem which moves us from her past to present, from Lightness to darkness . The first

metaphorical comparison of dropping the snow from goose feathers to the melting snow and then

Other sounds such as rod that made them rise is also an external force that can never wake the

her tireless heart is ironic as the girl has passed away. From the girl going after the geese (death)

Canada Energy Generation
The purpose is to compare the methods of Electrical Generation in Canada and France. The
outcome on my research is to provide information on the most and least sources of electricity
generations in both of these countries. The energy sources that I am comparing are Liquids and
Petroleum, Natural Gas, Coal, Nuclear, Hydroelectric, Wind, Solar, Geothermal, Tidal/Wave Power
and Biofuels.
1.The predominant forms of Electricity Generation in Canada are Hydro Electric and Coal.
2.They are used the most because Hydro Electric energy comes from the Great Lakes, and the
large amount of waterfalls in Canada like Niagara Falls. Coal is used because of the great supply of
coal mines in Canada. (Center for Energy)

Work Memory Analysis
Introduction
The working memory aids our ability to remember words over non words, specifically the
phonological loop and visuospatial sketchpad (Baddeley, Hitch, 1994). Other studies by (Paivio,
1991) have shown that concrete words are easier to recall than abstract words due to semantic
associations. The purpose of this paper is to explore the parts of memory that help certain words
to be more easily remembered than others. Memory is the system that enables us to learn skills
and gain information through sensory memory and short term storage. It is also the process that
allows us to retrieve this information from long term storage (Baddeley, 1974). Being able to
create a new memory, put that memory away in storage, and bring it back when ... Show more

They proposed the phonological loop had evolved for language acquisition and storage. Also
their study found that the ability to pronounce a word places it in phonological storage, allowing
you to recall the memory quicker (Baddeley, 1994). The phonological loop has been found to be
a workspace for verbal information (Baddeley, 1994). Other studies have also found that the
phonological loop works to process auditory information as well (Reisberg, 2013). The
visuospatial sketchpad, (Baddeley, 1994) was used to recall a visual object. In the visuospatial
sketchpad images are placed on different spatial maps, which then tied together with the spatial
workspace on the visuospatial sketchpad. The decision maker of working memory is the central
executive. It decides which memories are retrieved, what information you should focus on, how
important the information is, and how to attain goals (Riesberg, 2013). Without the central
executive, our thoughts and actions would be unorganized in our working memory (Riesberg,
2013). In order to reduce the workload of the central executive, and allow it to focus towards
important tasks, the episodic buffer works to store the information gathered from the visuospatial
sketchpad and phonological loop (Baddeley, 1974). These models of memory show us how it is
organized and operates, and there are other models of memory that go into how memory aids our

Allusion And Criticism In 99 Red Balloons
Carlo Karges, a German musician and the author of the song 99 Luftballons ( 99 Red
Balloons in its English version) had lived in the period of Cold War, from birth until the time he
wrote this song. This period was characterized by nations being obsessively worried over an
unexpected nuclear attack from enemy nations. As Benjamin Fischer states, such fears were
exaggerated...nowhere in the world were the superpowers squared off in a crisis likely to escalate
into full scale nuclear war. (
A Cold WarConundrum
) The effects of this hysteria inspired Carlo Karges to write this song. The song 99 Luftballons,
demonstrates how historical events shape society and at the same time is an example of how
economic forces intervene in society s ideologies. The song was inspired in a concert of the
Rolling Stones as Gabriele Kerner; the lead vocalist of the band, mentions in an interview: Mick
Jagger let the balloons fly and the balloons flew over the Berlin Wall and that could cause...a war.
( Fox 5 ) Karges uses allusion and irony to describe how paranoid the military governments were,
by referring to how an innocent act such as releasing balloons into the air, an act that is supposed to
bring happiness could cause a catastrophe such as an attack between neighboring countries. The
author also uses metaphor in the stanza that mentions: People think they are UFOs from outer
space, so a general sent a fighter

With The Bear Analysis
The new exhibit at the HCC Central Art Gallery discusses the possibilities of engineered wood
after it no longer serves its original purpose.
Wood has been an important construction material since humans first built shelters, tools, and
furniture. Yet no structure can last forever, and once a buildinghas fallen, or a table is no longer
suitable, the materials are tossed aside, discarded.
There they lay to deteriorate, unless broken down and used as raw material for another purpose.
With The Grain is an exhibition about that repurposing. Eight artists, Raina Chamberlain, Dan

Skinner vs. Bandura
Behaviorism has been a major school of thought in psychology since 1913, when John B. Watson
published an influential article. Watson argued that psychology should abandon its earlier focus on
mind and mental processes and focus exclusively on overt behavior. He contended that psychology
could not study mental processes in a scientific manner because they are private and not accessible
to outside observation. In completely rejecting mental processes as a suitable subject for scientific
study, Watson took an extreme position that is no longer dominant among modern behaviorists.
Thus, most behaviorists view an individual s personality as a collection of response tendencies that
are tied to various stimulus situations. A specific situation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For example, I clowned around in class and gained appreciative comments and smiles from
schoolmates. This social approval reinforced my clowning around behavior. If such behavior
would have been reinforced with some regularity, it would have gradually become an integral
element of my personality. Similarly, whether or not I developed traits such as independence,
assertiveness, or selfishness depended on whether I got reinforced for such behavior by parents
or by other influential persons. Negative reinforcement occurs when a response is strengthened
(increased in frequency) because it is followed by the removal of a (presumably) unpleasant
stimulus (Skinner, p.67). Do not let the word negative here confuse you. Negative reinforcement
is reinforcement. Like positive reinforcement, it strengthens a response. However, this
strengthening occurs because the response gets rid of an aversive stimulus. Consider a few
examples: I rush home in winter to get out of the cold. I clean my house to get rid of a mess.
Parents gave in to my begging to halt my whining. Negative reinforcement plays a major role in
the development of avoidance tendencies. As you have may notices, many people tend to avoid
facing up to awkward situations and sticky personal problems. This personality trait typically
develops because avoidance behavior gets rid of anxiety and is therefore negatively

International Contracts And International Sale Contracts
A conflict of laws is a major issue that usually arises in international commercial transactions.
International characters in the transaction create questions, such as which court has jurisdiction
over the case, which law is applicable to the case and will the judgment enforceable. One possible
way to avoid the risk of a conflict of laws is to harmonise laws relating to international sales into
uniform law or a convention for worldwide adoption. The United NationsConvention on Contracts
for the International Sale of Goods (CISG), known as the Vienna Convention, is one of the results
from the harmonisation of international trade law. Although there are many supports to this
convention, the argument of its effectiveness still continues and some countries still not ratify.
International sale contracts are not quite similar to domestic sale contracts as the international
character cannot be found in domestic contracts. The first character is the movement of goods
which travel from one state to another state, no matter where the seller s and the buyer s places of
business are. Another character is the different places of business of both parties which means that
both parties have different legal systems. Involving with property, parties or events located in more
than one jurisdiction and the laws of those jurisdictions are different, a conflict of laws issue might
arise in a dispute between parties. The differences between laws of each country also create
uncertainty in

The purpose of having a screening mammography is to identify small breast cancer. The use of
film mammography can be very hard to recognize breast cancer in younger women and women
that may have dense breast tissue. This is because the women normal breast tissue have a density
of carcinoma. It very difficult to tell which is normal and which could be carcinoma. There is an
advantage to the film mammography where the contrast image of the breast can be modified and
could allow the differences in the detection of the tissues.
According to the case study in the text it states that sixty six percent of all women and fifty one
percent of women under age of fifty who has breast cancer will be identified by having a screening
test (Fleming, 2008). From my research I found that having a
screening mammography is a very valuable tool in the detection of breast cancer especially if it
is caught early in the stages to improve the survival rate. For women who get a screening after
age the of fifty have a good chance of reducing the risk of death of breast cancer from twenty five
to thirty percent and women age forty the data states a very positive chance of detecting breast

Conservation of Linear Momentum
Objective
The primary goal of this experiment was to study the force that a jet generates on hemispherical,
flat, and conical surfaces. Further, the experiment exposed students to the concept of linear
momentum conservation by observing forces that a jet of water exerts on objects with different
shapes.
Results and Graphs Figure 1: Forces Acting on the x and y axis
As can be seen, the forces that act on the x direction are caused by pressure at sections 1 and 2.
Similarly, an expression that relates the conservation of linear momentum in the Y direction can be
developed.
Discussion
Although the experiment was successful, some errors occurred during the experiment that made
most values to deviate from the expected ones. Generally, both fixed and random errors were
observed (Mitchell Worledge, 2015). The random errors, in this case, resulted into statistical
fluctuations in the measured data because of the limitations in precision measurement. Additionally,
the random errors occurred due to inability to take the same measurements as the expected ones.
Furthermore, fixed errors were responsible for reduced inaccuracies in the values obtained (Valiani
Caleffi, 2011). However, the best way to minimize random errors is by averaging

Roman Culture And Western Civilization
As the Romans held on to Greek culture so eagerly it quickly became the foundation of Roman
culture. Roman forms of architecture evolved mostly from reshaping Greek models, but clearly
stands apart from its ancestors. The Romans were quick to adopt new techniques in construction;
new use of materials, and new architectural structures. The Romans made innovations to fully fulfill
the practical needs for the society as a whole. Among these architectural changes basilicas, temples,
amphitheaters, bridges and aqueducts, and residential blocks can be found engrained in Roman
culture as it positively impacted the lives of Romans. These inventions were paid for, organized,
and spread around by a state which fully supported the Roman Empire. The Romans influence in
monumental architecture as well as many other aspects of Western life remains clearly visible
today as it did back then. Western civilization presently compromises Western Europe and North
America and are believed to have derived from the influence of cultures found in the Roman
Empire. In this research essay, I will discuss and contrast Roman culture to Western Civilization as

Burial In Sophocles Antigone
In Sophocles play Antigone, two brothers, Eteocles and Polynices fight for the thrown of Thebes.
The war comes to an end when both brothers die fighting for the honor, and their uncle Creon
becomes the king of Thebes. Upon his coronation, Creon issues a decree that Eteocles, the former
king of Thebes, will be honored with a traditional military burial, while his brother Polynices will
be left unwept, unburied, a lovely treasure for birds that scan the field and feast to their heart s
content (Sophocles, 60). Antigone, one of the two sisters, outraged by this ruling, takes matters
into her own hands and goes against this newly established law by properly burying her brother.
Ultimately Antigone sets aside the political law and does what s morally right by honoring her
brother with a traditional burial. I will argue that Antigone s decision to bury her brother was the
right decision. While she may have disobeyed the law put in place by the newly appointed
inexperienced king of Thebes, she was in turn honoring her brother and the long standing traditions
and expectations of the g ds, principles much more important than the arbitrary laws of the state.
I would argue that most importantly, Creon s law was arbitrary. Creon says in a discussion he has
with Haemon, Am I to rule this land for others or myself? after a short dialogue back and forth
where Haemon argues that a city is not owned by one man alone, Creon declares that The city is

The Downfall And Vice As A Tale Of A Tub And The Battle Of...
The prominence of Jonathon Swift and his work is undeniable in the Eighteenth Century. Swift
s emergence into the literary world was spurned on by writing about politics and religion with
his strong opinions and wit. Other famous works by Swift include A Tale of a Tub and The
Battle of the Books based on the corruptions in religion and learning at the time. Swift s works in
literature were often written to further a cause or reaction. The idea of the antagonising satirist
is reiterated in a conversation between Pope and Swift, with Swift stating The chief end I
propose in all my labours is to vex the world rather than divert it . Swift aims to educate readers
on what is actually going on at the forefront of culture at the time through his works, with the
embodiment of human downfall and vice being satirised through the characters of Gulliver s
Travels. Swift began working on book by 1721, with the parts being written in sequence to begin
with. Parts I and II were finished by late 1723 with Part IV being completed by January 1724.
This lead to Part III being finished and the entire works being under revision in early 1725. Swift
sent the manuscript to Benjamin Motte, a bookseller at that time. Before publishing Gulliver s
Travels Motte edited the text fearing the crown and court prosecution. The first edition was
published on the 28th October 1726, with the first print selling out within a week. The novel was
published two more times before 1727, before being translated

William Bradford Journey To The New World Essay
The journey to the New World certainly proved difficult and venturous; however the horrors did
not prevent either William Bradford or the English pilgrims on the Mayflower from setting aside
all fears and taking on the expedition. Contemplating the difficulties of venturing to the new world,
William Bradford set out in search of religious freedom. Numerous factors contributed to his final
decision. Bradford anticipated the journey to be perilous and difficult to accomplish. However, he
believed that with the help of God he might be able to overcome the challenges and complete the
voyage (Ch. 3, A1, The American Spirit). Without knowledge of what was to come, Bradford relied
on his faith to help him through the difficulties. Aside from the... Show more content on

His expectations fell short when they experienced poverty and religious disagreements, and the
children were converting to the manners of the Dutch society. Since his expectations fell short
in Holland, Bradford is most likely biased toward the way of life in the New World. He and the
group of Puritans had traveled over water to Holland, but their trip was not as distant as the New
World. Without knowing what was to happen, Bradford automatically assumed the worst. Torn
by the deep yearning for religious freedom, misfortunes in Holland, and possible dangers
overseas, Bradford and the group of Puritans went against all judgment and decided to risk the
journey. Bradford s writing is only limited to assumptions and rumors. Having not actually been
to the new land and have not travelled over the waters, he could only rely on the information he
heard as well as what he had imagined in his mind. As Bradford expressed his concerns and
emotions prior to the expedition, he left out any logical predictions and situations about the new
and unknown location. All he writes about is fear and the images he thinks of in regard to the
fear. Bradford s writing is somewhat accurate in how it portrays the influence of anxiety and how
individuals expect the worse of what they do not know. His perspective deeply shows the raw
emotion of what the pilgrims experienced as they took chances and struggled to find

The Argonauts, Les Guerilleres, And Dictee
Power is a very particular thing and can be produced in a multitude of ways. The three texts The
Argonauts, Les Guerilleres, and Dictee show this in numerous ways. As a reader, you learn to
recognize the power in places you wouldn t necessarily expect. From being dismantled within a
dystopia to exploiting the way bodies serve the world, powerhas controlover everything.
There is a sense of power within Les Guerilleres when the women take over and start a war. They
are developed within a group of empowerment and their only wish is to start anew, creating a
world, or dystopia, different than anything that has ever been seen, completing erasing all that is
and was. They believe that a fresh start is the only way that utter happiness can be found and they
want the new world to be a paradigm for all that is and can be good. They are controlled by the
goddesses that lived before them and by the empowerment that the vagina holds within. Exulting
the beauty that they have once they are united, they feel powerful enough to take control and to
unify a front that can withstand any battle. Once unified, they continue to grow stronger, and a
shield begins to appear around the women that can fight off any weapon that they come in contact
with, thus creating an infrangible bond. By exploiting themselves, they are using their power and
unity to create a shield that is impermeable. Their bodies are the sprout of their power, and
because of this, they are perceived as the world s most

Flatbed Truck Research Papers
Your flatbed truck is a dispensable tool that allows you to haul cargo like hay bales and lumber,
but sometimes you would like to use your truck to tow a fifth wheel. With the B W Companion
Flatbed 5th Wheel Hitch, you can turn your flatbed truck into a tow vehicle. This hitch uses the
coupler that the regular Companion from B W uses, but this one is made for the steel flatbed. It
can tow up to 22,000 pounds and can sit in a well that is up to 4 inches deep that is 20 inches by

Tips for this Baked Chicken Sausage Mac Cheese and Making the BEST Mac Cheese Ever First
things first, do NOT use pre shredded cheese when you make macaroni and cheese because the
anti caking agents that manufacturers toss the shredded cheese in will affect the quality of your
Mornay sauce meaning it will affect the way it thickens and melts. (Mornay sauce is basically
bГ©chamel sauce with cheese added...aka the glorious, velvety cheese sauce that makes mac
cheese so tasty!) So purchase blocks of cheese and grate them yourself by using a hand grater or a
food processor. For this recipe, I used my food processor because that s a lot of cheese to grate! LOL
The pasta, yep, picking the right pasta is what will make or break your mac cheese. Stick to
elbow macaroni or cavatappi and stay away from shells, bow ties, and fettuccine or linguine. The
ridges on cavatappi pasta allow the rich cheese sauce to grab hold and stick for ultimate eating
pleasure.
The next important thing is to use warm milk to make the bГ©chamel sauce. It s easier to
incorporate warm milk into the roux to prevent lumps, in my experience. If you read up on
bГ©chamel making you will discover that a lot of chefs say to use hot liquid with cold roux or cold
(or cool) roux with hot liquid. The key to lump free bГ©chamel is to incorporate the milk slowly.
I ladle the milk into the roux while whisking, after a few ladles of milk you can slowly

After Effects in John HerseyВґs Novel Hiroshima
Hiroshima is an outstanding recreation of the complete annihilation and devastation of during the
aftermath and the year following the United States dropping of the atomic bomb. As the war in the
east carried on, many thought this desolated war might last a lifetime, all the while hoping for an
end and praying it not mean their own end. To end the war, Americans had to pick a target that
would leave the Japanese government with nowhere to retreat, allowing for a crippling effect that
would essentially cause their collapse and surrender. In his writings, John Hersey proclaims that
Hiroshimawas a ... inviting target mainly because it had been one of the most important military
command and communications centres in Japan ... (HERSEY, P. 107). In the minds of American
strategists, this must have seemed a flawless method to force the Japanese military into a corner,
not allowing withdrawal without laying down of arms. There was surely no doubt that dropping
this bomb of god like destructive power would, at a minimum, tear into the souls of Japanese,
causing catastrophic devastation.
Of those in the book distraught by the massive explosion, the Reverend Kiyoshi Tanimoto seemed
to be the one person most effected mentally and emotionally by the horrific sights and sounds of the
turmoil. Mr. Tanimoto seemed, to himself, to be the one person not physically harmed by the blast,
causing a great deal remorse, self loathing, and shame for having been unharmed. During the

The Importance Of Reading Young Adult Literature
Currently, there is a debate about whether or not adults should be reading young adult (YA)
literature. Some on the side for adults reading young adult literature highlight the benefits of adults
reading YA literature; specifically reading it in order to relate to feelings they had as a young adult.
This ability to relate to YA literature in a personal manner could be very useful to teachers who
work with young adults. Teachers can use their findings from the YA novels to further empathize
with their students, learn how to integrate these YA novels into their curriculum to make it easier
for students to understand, and learn to understand and help students coping with some sort of
emotional trauma that may affect their learning. In the classroom, it is highly important that a
teacher be able to empathize with and relate to their students. A teacher with a good understanding
of the thought processes and emotions of their students often have an easier time relaying
information to them (Sylwester 1994). One way that teachers could learn to relate and empathize
with their students is by reading YA novels. YA novels are written to be understood and related to
by young adults, but anyone who has lived through adolescence should be able to find a YA novel
they can relate their life to. The ability for teachers to read these books and relate to them can in
turn help them reconnect with the thought processes they had in their formative years. Being able
to remember and relate

Student Financial Aid For Students
Staring from the 1940s, Student financial aid began to play a significant role in prompting student
access, persistence and completion rate of American Higher Education. Since students can be
regarded as the output of the education, student financial aid also contributes to the social mobility
and the improvement of economics. Federal government, state governments and institutions jointly
provide the funding to certain groups of students. Among all types of financial aid, need based aid
and merit based aid are most important financial aid for students. Higher EducationAct of 1965 is a
milestone of the development of need based aid. The Law was intended to strengthen the
educational resources of our colleges and universities and to provide financial assistance for
students in postsecondary and higher education. Specifically, the Pell Grant is the foundation of
the federal financial aid system. While the social turbulence of the 1960s may have been the
impetus behind the Pell program, the groundwork for broad based aid programs is more
appropriately attributed to the GI Bill. After 1965, the Higher Education Act of 1965 was
reauthorized several times to achieve the goals. Need based aid is essential for collegeaccess and
success. According to Turner s research (2013), every $1000 decrease of tuition price will lead to
4% of increase in college attendance. Evidence suggests that reducing college costs can increase
college entry and persistence (Dynarski Clayton,

The Battle Between Christianity And Islam
Towards the end of the eleventh century in Western Europe and Eurasia, a range of social,
economical and religious influences collectively influenced the sequence of religious wars which
we know as the Crusades. Although the series of holy wars against Islam is typically portrayed as
the fault of overzealous popes and belligerent kings; the truth behind the clash between Christianity
and Islam is far more elaborate. The direct repercussions following two centuries of prolonged
warfare afflicted Christendom with the loss of several millions of lives and immense financial
expenditure. On the contrary, the Crusadesstimulated the fundamental expansion and the ultimate
downfalls of nations in both the Western and Eastern fields.
Contrary to popular belief, the Crusades (1095 A.D 1291 A.D) were defensive wars in response to
Islamic expansion following Prophet Mohammed s death in the 7th century. It is all too commonly
assumed that the Crusades were the vanguard of the Church s self righteousness and prejudice that
warped the enlightened Oriental culture with Western antagonism. Although elements of these
assumptions are true to some extent; the Crusaders ultimate objective was to defend against the
very Muslims who initially prompted their response by conquering Christian lands in the name of
Allah. Similar to the Crusaders dogma of war, the Islamists had a warfare doctrine as well. In
traditional Islam the world was divided into several spheres known as abodes. Two abodes

who was heard from, by Elizabeth. One of the items the Avenger sent was actually belonging to
him and with that he became a prime suspect. Many believe Hansen and Elizabeth were involved

and no charges were ever put against him. Before we get to our final suspect I d like to note that

When you are excavating a property, it is important to hire the right piece of equipment for the task
at hand. A Dingo mini digger or excavator is just as effective, if not more so, than larger pieces of
excavation equipment for many types of situations. To ensure that you receive the right mini digger
for your particular task, you must consider the following things.
Type of Excavation
Understand that type of excavation is necessary for your project. The mini diggers are ideal for the
following tasks:
Trenching
Rotary Hoeing
Post Stump Holes
Stump Grinding
Soil Moving
Small Access Jobs
What Kind of Attachment Is Necessary
Along with the basic mini digger, you will need the right attachment to accomplish your project.
The trencher attachment will dig the hole and then reverse to cover over the trencher once you
install the cables, pipes or other necessary items in the trench. For the garden or other landscape
project, the rotary hoe attachment breaks up the soil to obtain the ideal texture for planting and
seeding. Auger attachments for the diggers come in different sizes to dig post stump holes to the
exact dimensions for your fence or other posts. With the stump grinder for this digger, the operator
will be able to grind right, left and forward, and this ensure that the machine will throw the debris
away from the digger at all times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Role of African Americans in the Revolutionary War Essay
The Role of African Americans in the Revolutionary War
An estimated 100,000 African Americans escaped, died or were killed during the American
Revolution(Mount). Roughly 95% of African Americans in the United States were slaves, and
because of their status, the use of them during the revolution was inevitable(Mount). This led many
Americans, especially those from the North, to believe that the South s economy would collapse
without slavery due to the use of slaves on the front lines. However, only a small percentage of the
slave population enlisted in either army.
The concept of using slaves as soldiers was hardly revolutionary. Blacks had served our country

The British saw Washington s original actions and promised emancipation for all slaves who
fought for England. Washington s position towards blacks had made it clear that the individuals
running the revolution were not interested in black freedom, so the British offer literally produced
a flood of African American volunteers to the British Army. The escaped slaves were not merely
good soldiers; they were passionate and saw the British cause as a way to rebel against their
American masters. Despite being on the losing end of the war, slaves who fought for the British in
the American Revolution mark the beginning of an emancipation movement.
The center of the Southern economy was the slaves and their contribution to the plantation owners.
Southern agriculture was founded on the cultivation of tobacco, wheat, and corn in Virginia,
Maryland, and North Carolina, and of rice and indigo in South Carolina and Georgia. These crops
were cultivated with the help of black slaves, those that were not fighting in the war effort. Slaves
were the only reason there was enough money to pay for the war and political events. As a matter
of fact, most of America s political leaders were slaveholders themselves, including Thomas
Jefferson, James Madison, and Alexander Hamilton(Davis 116).

When I think of America, I imagine of a masterpiece. When America was first discovered by

Compare And Contrast The Liberal And Conservative Views On...
My philosophical viewpoint on the political parties can closely relate to both Liberal, and
Conservative. I will explain why I compare myself to both parties, and explain my views on
controversial topics. Liberalism part of the left wing of politics and the opposite of
conservative, Liberals have more tolerance for change, while conservatives would like to stick
with tradition attitude, values, and more so relates to politics rather than social reform. First and
most importantly gun control is an extremely popular topic as of right now with all the
shootings going on. Liberals protest that citizens should not have the right to keep and bear arms
because of all the shootings going on, while conservatives think that everyone with credibility
should be able to own a gun and protect himself or herself, and I completely agree with that. If
we as a whole make owning a gun illegal, not only will it start a big outrage across the country
and probably cause more destruction and death, but also it will also not help. For example drugs,

The Rise of Illegal Drug Trade in Our Dangerous Economy
Ever since drugs became illegal to be purchased in the early century the whole illegal drug trade
started to rise and many individuals especially youth started to join this dangerous and illegal
economy. Youths were ambitious and were attracted to this inner city business just to get money in
a faster way. That is because drugselling and other illegal activities appeared to be the most
effective way to get rich in a faster way. Also many of these youth would rather earn money in a
dangerous way than working for someone racially superior. Many of these youngsters joined
these underground jobs because of their low economic status they were trapped in. Another
reason why these teenagers joined this dangerous economic is because of the autonomy they
would get in this job. The fact that they can self govern themselves is essential to them because
is something they weren t able to find in an entry level job (Bourgois, Pg. 9 10). They also gained
respect from the surroundings they would usually socialize with. Practically most of the youths
that had joined the underground jobs have had negative experiences in the minimum wage labor
market from their racist bosses or supervisors (Bourgois, Pg. 7). One of the things the
underground economy offers that the inner city doesn t is the fast short term success. Many young
people were looking for the capacity of growing to a higher social or economic position (Bourgois,

better and greater love for Ophelia. In Act 1, Laertes stays a few minutes with Ophelia talking
about Hamlet. Then he gives her an insight of what young men want and they will say to get it
(sex). To add on, he tells her to be careful and not to do anything reckless/regrettable or it will
ruin her reputation (1.3, 15 44). The summary of this quote shows that Laertes cares and loves
Ophelia more because he stays with her a for a few minutes even though he is running late on
time to leave Benchmark. He stays to warn her of Hamlet and not to expose her body to him.
Then not to give into his desires for her because he may love her but not for long.then he may be

To agree with the statement, disguise and deception is...
To agree with the statement, disguise and deception is used widely by Shakespeare. Throughout
the play we only see Viola in her disguise as Cesario . From Act 1, Scene 2, we see her planning
on using the disguise of a man to serve Orsino. The interactions between her and the other
characters show dramatic ironyas they do not realise who Cesario actually is, however the audience
does. Orsino, at the start of Act 2, scene 4 says Now good morrow, friends; Now, good Cesario.
Orsino does not know the actual person he is talking to when he praises Cesario, just the same
when he says Cesario is semblative a woman s part , saying that Cesario looks like a woman. For
Shakespeare s audience there was a heightened level of irony because at that... Show more content

This is when Portia and Nerissa disguise themselves as men, specifically a lawyer and a clerk, as
a way to save Antonio. This links into the way Viola uses an inner disguise to shield her real
personality, she first goes into her disguise at the docks in Act 1, scene 2 when she says to the
Captain Conceal me what I am, and be my aid. For such disguise as haply shall become the form
of my intent. This shows how she is covering up what I am [she is] a woman, by the personality
and physical disguise of a man. From this point onwards there is comedy due to the fact that she is
disguised as a man and is fooling every other character, with the audience knowing all about this.
This also shows that Shakespeare respects the audience enough to not have them fooled by Viola
s disguise ;and he shows more sexual equality, as Viola plays a major part in the story and
without her the play would have a lot less comedy. The structure of the play relies mostly on her
actions, for example there would have been no love triangle without her and all the other
characters would not have been deceived by her. Therefore, there would be no dramatic irony to
create amusement. So, the dramatic irony of Viola s disguise makes characters seem ignorant and
ridiculous creating comedy, but also through the audience s knowledge of Viola s true identity.
Shakespeare resolves this confusion by Viola revealing herself in the last act, making it a zenith
ending, with all the characters present

Threat To The Mojave Desert
A current threat to the Mojave desert is its renewable energy sources, or windmills as people
most know them as. About 50,000 acres of desert tortoise habitat has been built over, mostly in
California. Dunes which house many Mojave Fringe toed lizards have been impacted, as well as
windmills that have been built in the way of golden eagle habitats. This causes many collision
between the birds, a threat that many of them face. Many of these renewable energy sources
people are able to see heading down to Palm Springs or getting on the freeway to LA. A large area
of the desert was plowed and flattened out for solar panels destroying many homes for animals.
More and more windmills are also being put up as well with all the road work going on, more

  • 2. Describe the importance of Calpurnia in the lives of the... Describe the importance of Calpurnia in the lives of the Finch family, and in the novel as a whole. Calpurnia is more than just a family cook to the Finch s. She also acts as the mother to Jem and Scout by helping to bring them up, teaching them right from wrong, disciplining them and comforting them when they were upset because their mother died when they were very young. She has worked for the Finch s for a very long time and has a very firm control over the children which causes Scout to resent her. Atticus trusts and supports Calpurnia because he considers her as a very important member of the family. For example he says Alexandra, Calpurnia s not leaving this house until she wants to. She even taught Scout how to write by setting her tasks like copying a passage from the bible to keep her quite when she was board, so she is important in teaching the children. She lives two lives, one working for the Finch family who are white, and another at her home with her fellow Negroes. She acts and speaks differently around her friends and the children find this very surprising when they find out. Some of the main themes in To Kill a Mockingbird are Courage, Family, Prejudice and Hatred and I think Calpurnia is important in all of these themes. Calpurnia gives the children courage by telling them not to worry and that every thing will be alright for instance during the time of the court case and the leading up to it she told them to stay strong and not to listen to what people are saying about Atticus or the way he s bringing Jen and Scout up. Also when she took the children to church she had the courage to stand up to her fellow Negro (Lula) who didn t want the white children in the Black church and said to her they s my comp ny and It s the same God, ain t it? . This made Lula annoyed so she went away and didn t say another word. She is very important in the family theme because she is part of the Finch family and she is also part of the Negro family so in the novel she shows how you can be part of two different kinds of families ... • 3. Disadvantages Of Teamwork Individual efforts cannot fulfill organizational goals on their own. No one person can create, accomplish or innovate more than a team can. Teamwork is a multifaceted process that requires individuals to work cohesively towards a common organizational goal. The effectiveness of the organization relies on the ability of teams to efficiently work together. Individual efforts will gain momentum as collaboration fuels the ability to accomplish tasks quicker and with better solutions. One of the best benefits of utilizing teamworkin an organization includes reaching synergy. Working together to reach synergy is creating a final product that is better than what would have been created by the individual member s sum of abilities. During collaboration the capabilities of employees are multiplied to the point where process gain is reached, or acquiring more than expected based on individual capabilities present (Colquitt et al., 2017). In order to reach this state of cohesion, teams must engage effectively in the four team work processes including taskwork processes, teamwork processes, communication processes and team states. Taskwork processes include the activities of team members that directly relate to accomplishing team goals. Activities include brainstorming, reaching a consensus, and appointing people to go outside the team in order to coordinate and find resources for the group. Teamwork processes include preparing the environment for taskwork processes to be carried out. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Other studies by (Paivio, 1991) have shown that concrete words are easier to recall than abstract words due to semantic associations. The purpose of this paper is to explore the parts of memory that help certain words to be more easily remembered than others. Memory is the system that enables us to learn skills and gain information through sensory memory and short term storage. They proposed the phonological loop had evolved for language acquisition and storage. Also their study found that the ability to pronounce a word places it in phonological storage, allowing you to recall the memory quicker (Baddeley, 1994). The phonological loop has been found to be a workspace for verbal information (Baddeley, 1994). Other studies have also found that the phonological loop works to process auditory information as well (Reisberg, 2013). The visuospatial sketchpad, (Baddeley, 1994) was used to recall a visual object. In the visuospatial sketchpad images are placed on different spatial maps, which then tied together with the spatial workspace on the visuospatial sketchpad. The decision maker of working memory is the central executive. It decides which memories are retrieved, what information you should focus on, how important the information is, and how to attain goals (Riesberg, 2013). Without the central executive, our thoughts and actions would be unorganized in our working memory (Riesberg, 2013). In order to reduce the workload of the central executive, and allow it to focus towards important tasks, the episodic buffer works to store the information gathered from the visuospatial sketchpad and phonological loop (Baddeley, 1974). • 10. Allusion And Criticism In 99 Red Balloons Carlo Karges, a German musician and the author of the song 99 Luftballons ( 99 Red Balloons in its English version) had lived in the period of Cold War, from birth until the time he wrote this song. This period was characterized by nations being obsessively worried over an unexpected nuclear attack from enemy nations. As Benjamin Fischer states, such fears were exaggerated...nowhere in the world were the superpowers squared off in a crisis likely to escalate into full scale nuclear war. ( A Cold WarConundrum ) The effects of this hysteria inspired Carlo Karges to write this song. The song 99 Luftballons, demonstrates how historical events shape society and at the same time is an example of how economic forces intervene in society s ideologies. The song was inspired in a concert of the Rolling Stones as Gabriele Kerner; the lead vocalist of the band, mentions in an interview: Mick Jagger let the balloons fly and the balloons flew over the Berlin Wall and that could cause...a war. ( Fox 5 ) Karges uses allusion and irony to describe how paranoid the military governments were, by referring to how an innocent act such as releasing balloons into the air, an act that is supposed to bring happiness could cause a catastrophe such as an attack between neighboring countries. • 13. Skinner vs. Bandura Behaviorism has been a major school of thought in psychology since 1913, when John B. Watson published an influential article. Watson argued that psychology should abandon its earlier focus on mind and mental processes and focus exclusively on overt behavior. He contended that psychology could not study mental processes in a scientific manner because they are private and not accessible to outside observation. In completely rejecting mental processes as a suitable subject for scientific study, Watson took an extreme position that is no longer dominant among modern behaviorists. Thus, most behaviorists view an individual s personality as a collection of response tendencies that are tied to various stimulus situations. A specific situation... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, I clowned around in class and gained appreciative comments and smiles from schoolmates. This social approval reinforced my clowning around behavior. If such behavior would have been reinforced with some regularity, it would have gradually become an integral element of my personality. Similarly, whether or not I developed traits such as independence, assertiveness, or selfishness depended on whether I got reinforced for such behavior by parents or by other influential persons. Negative reinforcement occurs when a response is strengthened (increased in frequency) because it is followed by the removal of a (presumably) unpleasant stimulus (Skinner, p.67). Do not let the word negative here confuse you. Negative reinforcement is reinforcement. Like positive reinforcement, it strengthens a response. However, this strengthening occurs because the response gets rid of an aversive stimulus. Consider a few examples: I rush home in winter to get out of the cold. I clean my house to get rid of a mess. Parents gave in to my begging to halt my whining. Negative reinforcement plays a major role in the development of avoidance tendencies. • 14. International Contracts And International Sale Contracts A conflict of laws is a major issue that usually arises in international commercial transactions. International characters in the transaction create questions, such as which court has jurisdiction over the case, which law is applicable to the case and will the judgment enforceable. One possible way to avoid the risk of a conflict of laws is to harmonise laws relating to international sales into uniform law or a convention for worldwide adoption. The United NationsConvention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG), known as the Vienna Convention, is one of the results from the harmonisation of international trade law. Although there are many supports to this convention, the argument of its effectiveness still continues and some countries still not ratify. International sale contracts are not quite similar to domestic sale contracts as the international character cannot be found in domestic contracts. The first character is the movement of goods which travel from one state to another state, no matter where the seller s and the buyer s places of business are. Another character is the different places of business of both parties which means that both parties have different legal systems. Involving with property, parties or events located in more than one jurisdiction and the laws of those jurisdictions are different, a conflict of laws issue might arise in a dispute between parties. The differences between laws of each country also create uncertainty in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Similarly, an expression that relates the conservation of linear momentum in the Y direction can be developed. Discussion Although the experiment was successful, some errors occurred during the experiment that made most values to deviate from the expected ones. Generally, both fixed and random errors were observed (Mitchell Worledge, 2015). The random errors, in this case, resulted into statistical fluctuations in the measured data because of the limitations in precision measurement. Additionally, the random errors occurred due to inability to take the same measurements as the expected ones. Furthermore, fixed errors were responsible for reduced inaccuracies in the values obtained (Valiani Caleffi, 2011). However, the best way to minimize random errors is by averaging ... Antigone, one of the two sisters, outraged by this ruling, takes matters into her own hands and goes against this newly established law by properly burying her brother. Ultimately Antigone sets aside the political law and does what s morally right by honoring her brother with a traditional burial. I will argue that Antigone s decision to bury her brother was the right decision. While she may have disobeyed the law put in place by the newly appointed inexperienced king of Thebes, she was in turn honoring her brother and the long standing traditions and expectations of the g ds, principles much more important than the arbitrary laws of the state. Swift s emergence into the literary world was spurned on by writing about politics and religion with his strong opinions and wit. Other famous works by Swift include A Tale of a Tub and The Battle of the Books based on the corruptions in religion and learning at the time. Swift s works in literature were often written to further a cause or reaction. The idea of the antagonising satirist is reiterated in a conversation between Pope and Swift, with Swift stating The chief end I propose in all my labours is to vex the world rather than divert it . Swift aims to educate readers on what is actually going on at the forefront of culture at the time through his works, with the embodiment of human downfall and vice being satirised through the characters of Gulliver s Travels. Contemplating the difficulties of venturing to the new world, William Bradford set out in search of religious freedom. Numerous factors contributed to his final decision. Bradford anticipated the journey to be perilous and difficult to accomplish. However, he believed that with the help of God he might be able to overcome the challenges and complete the voyage (Ch. 3, A1, The American Spirit). Without knowledge of what was to come, Bradford relied on his faith to help him through the difficulties. Aside from the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His expectations fell short when they experienced poverty and religious disagreements, and the children were converting to the manners of the Dutch society. Since his expectations fell short in Holland, Bradford is most likely biased toward the way of life in the New World. He and the group of Puritans had traveled over water to Holland, but their trip was not as distant as the New World. Without knowing what was to happen, Bradford automatically assumed the worst. Torn by the deep yearning for religious freedom, misfortunes in Holland, and possible dangers overseas, Bradford and the group of Puritans went against all judgment and decided to risk the journey. Bradford s writing is only limited to assumptions and rumors. Having not actually been to the new land and have not travelled over the waters, he could only rely on the information he heard as well as what he had imagined in his mind. As Bradford expressed his concerns and emotions prior to the expedition, he left out any logical predictions and situations about the new and unknown location. All he writes about is fear and the images he thinks of in regard to the fear. Bradford s writing is somewhat accurate in how it portrays the influence of anxiety and how individuals expect the worse of what they do not know. His perspective deeply shows the raw emotion of what the pilgrims experienced as they took chances and struggled to find ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From being dismantled within a dystopia to exploiting the way bodies serve the world, powerhas controlover everything. There is a sense of power within Les Guerilleres when the women take over and start a war. They are developed within a group of empowerment and their only wish is to start anew, creating a world, or dystopia, different than anything that has ever been seen, completing erasing all that is and was. They believe that a fresh start is the only way that utter happiness can be found and they want the new world to be a paradigm for all that is and can be good. They are controlled by the goddesses that lived before them and by the empowerment that the vagina holds within. Once unified, they continue to grow stronger, and a shield begins to appear around the women that can fight off any weapon that they come in contact with, thus creating an infrangible bond. Tips for this Baked Chicken Sausage Mac Cheese and Making the BEST Mac Cheese Ever First things first, do NOT use pre shredded cheese when you make macaroni and cheese because the anti caking agents that manufacturers toss the shredded cheese in will affect the quality of your Mornay sauce meaning it will affect the way it thickens and melts. (Mornay sauce is basically bГ©chamel sauce with cheese added...aka the glorious, velvety cheese sauce that makes mac cheese so tasty!) So purchase blocks of cheese and grate them yourself by using a hand grater or a food processor. For this recipe, I used my food processor because that s a lot of cheese to grate! LOL The pasta, yep, picking the right pasta is what will make or break your mac cheese. Stick to elbow macaroni or cavatappi and stay away from shells, bow ties, and fettuccine or linguine. The ridges on cavatappi pasta allow the rich cheese sauce to grab hold and stick for ultimate eating pleasure. The next important thing is to use warm milk to make the bГ©chamel sauce. It s easier to incorporate warm milk into the roux to prevent lumps, in my experience. If you read up on bГ©chamel making you will discover that a lot of chefs say to use hot liquid with cold roux or cold (or cool) roux with hot liquid. The key to lump free bГ©chamel is to incorporate the milk slowly. I ladle the milk into the roux while whisking, after a few ladles of milk you can slowly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After Effects in John HerseyВґs Novel Hiroshima Hiroshima is an outstanding recreation of the complete annihilation and devastation of during the aftermath and the year following the United States dropping of the atomic bomb. As the war in the east carried on, many thought this desolated war might last a lifetime, all the while hoping for an end and praying it not mean their own end. To end the war, Americans had to pick a target that would leave the Japanese government with nowhere to retreat, allowing for a crippling effect that would essentially cause their collapse and surrender. In his writings, John Hersey proclaims that Hiroshimawas a ... inviting target mainly because it had been one of the most important military command and communications centres in Japan ... (HERSEY, P. 107). In the minds of American strategists, this must have seemed a flawless method to force the Japanese military into a corner, not allowing withdrawal without laying down of arms. There was surely no doubt that dropping this bomb of god like destructive power would, at a minimum, tear into the souls of Japanese, causing catastrophic devastation. Of those in the book distraught by the massive explosion, the Reverend Kiyoshi Tanimoto seemed to be the one person most effected mentally and emotionally by the horrific sights and sounds of the turmoil. Mr. Tanimoto seemed, to himself, to be the one person not physically harmed by the blast, causing a great deal remorse, self loathing, and shame for having been unharmed. During the aftermath of ... • 27. The Importance Of Reading Young Adult Literature Currently, there is a debate about whether or not adults should be reading young adult (YA) literature. Some on the side for adults reading young adult literature highlight the benefits of adults reading YA literature; specifically reading it in order to relate to feelings they had as a young adult. This ability to relate to YA literature in a personal manner could be very useful to teachers who work with young adults. Teachers can use their findings from the YA novels to further empathize with their students, learn how to integrate these YA novels into their curriculum to make it easier for students to understand, and learn to understand and help students coping with some sort of emotional trauma that may affect their learning. In the classroom, it is highly important that a teacher be able to empathize with and relate to their students. A teacher with a good understanding of the thought processes and emotions of their students often have an easier time relaying information to them (Sylwester 1994). One way that teachers could learn to relate and empathize with their students is by reading YA novels. YA novels are written to be understood and related to by young adults, but anyone who has lived through adolescence should be able to find a YA novel they can relate their life to. The ability for teachers to read these books and relate to them can in turn help them reconnect with the thought processes they had in their formative years. Being able to remember and relate ... Since students can be regarded as the output of the education, student financial aid also contributes to the social mobility and the improvement of economics. Federal government, state governments and institutions jointly provide the funding to certain groups of students. Among all types of financial aid, need based aid and merit based aid are most important financial aid for students. Higher EducationAct of 1965 is a milestone of the development of need based aid. The Law was intended to strengthen the educational resources of our colleges and universities and to provide financial assistance for students in postsecondary and higher education. Specifically, the Pell Grant is the foundation of the federal financial aid system. While the social turbulence of the 1960s may have been the impetus behind the Pell program, the groundwork for broad based aid programs is more appropriately attributed to the GI Bill. After 1965, the Higher Education Act of 1965 was reauthorized several times to achieve the goals. Need based aid is essential for collegeaccess and success. The Battle Between Christianity And Islam Towards the end of the eleventh century in Western Europe and Eurasia, a range of social, economical and religious influences collectively influenced the sequence of religious wars which we know as the Crusades. Although the series of holy wars against Islam is typically portrayed as the fault of overzealous popes and belligerent kings; the truth behind the clash between Christianity and Islam is far more elaborate. The direct repercussions following two centuries of prolonged warfare afflicted Christendom with the loss of several millions of lives and immense financial expenditure. On the contrary, the Crusadesstimulated the fundamental expansion and the ultimate downfalls of nations in both the Western and Eastern fields. Contrary to popular belief, the Crusades (1095 A.D 1291 A.D) were defensive wars in response to Islamic expansion following Prophet Mohammed s death in the 7th century. It is all too commonly assumed that the Crusades were the vanguard of the Church s self righteousness and prejudice that warped the enlightened Oriental culture with Western antagonism. Although elements of these assumptions are true to some extent; the Crusaders ultimate objective was to defend against the very Muslims who initially prompted their response by conquering Christian lands in the name of Allah. Similar to the Crusaders dogma of war, the Islamists had a warfare doctrine as well. In traditional Islam the world was divided into several spheres known as abodes. Two abodes ... Roughly 95% of African Americans in the United States were slaves, and because of their status, the use of them during the revolution was inevitable(Mount). This led many Americans, especially those from the North, to believe that the South s economy would collapse without slavery due to the use of slaves on the front lines. Despite being on the losing end of the war, slaves who fought for the British in the American Revolution mark the beginning of an emancipation movement. Throughout the play we only see Viola in her disguise as Cesario . From Act 1, Scene 2, we see her planning on using the disguise of a man to serve Orsino. The interactions between her and the other characters show dramatic ironyas they do not realise who Cesario actually is, however the audience does. Orsino, at the start of Act 2, scene 4 says Now good morrow, friends; Now, good Cesario. This is when Portia and Nerissa disguise themselves as men, specifically a lawyer and a clerk, as a way to save Antonio. This links into the way Viola uses an inner disguise to shield her real personality, she first goes into her disguise at the docks in Act 1, scene 2 when she says to the Captain Conceal me what I am, and be my aid. For such disguise as haply shall become the form of my intent. This shows how she is covering up what I am [she is] a woman, by the personality and physical disguise of a man. From this point onwards there is comedy due to the fact that she is disguised as a man and is fooling every other character, with the audience knowing all about this. This also shows that Shakespeare respects the audience enough to not have them fooled by Viola s disguise ;and he shows more sexual equality, as Viola plays a major part in the story and without her the play would have a lot less comedy. The structure of the play relies mostly on her actions, for example there would have been no love triangle without her and all the other characters would not have been deceived by her. Therefore, there would be no dramatic irony to create amusement. So, the dramatic irony of Viola s disguise makes characters seem ignorant and ridiculous creating comedy, but also through the audience s knowledge of Viola s true identity.
