The Impact Of Telecommunication Technology On Virtual...
Impact of Telecommunication Technologies on Virtual Universities
Shena D. Sterling
IX540: Research Methods for Education and Instructional Technology
Professor Kimberly Case
December 13, 2014
Introduction
Virtual Universities are on the rise and are a legitimate threat to replace the traditional University.
The most prominent reason for the current explosion in student enrollment in the virtual
universities, are advancements in telecommunications technologies. This paper presents a
methodology for quantitatively testing the relationship between growth in telecommunications
technologies, and parallel growth in student enrollment in Category 1, Title IV 2yr and 4yr degree
granting distance education programs recognized by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As advancements in telecommunications technologies go forward the costs associated with such
technologies have decreased while the benefits increased. New cutting edge technologies are always
priced at a premium when they are introduced into the market. As competitors enter the market the
cost of the technology gradually declines and demand rises following the law of demand.
In this project one of the major questions that must be answered is whether the value of low cost
distance education programs, supported by new and innovative telecommunication technologies, is
greater than the value of traditional educational programs costing much more. The researcher
proposes that the explosive growth in student enrollment in on line programs answer this question
affirmatively. The researcher will use quantitative analysis to support the null hypothesis identified
in the document.
Within the context of this quasi experimental study the researcher has carefully investigated the
role advancements in telecommunications technologies have played in the establishment and
growth of virtual universities in the U.S., the impact telecommunications technologies have had on
Title IV, Post Secondary 2yr and 4yr degree granting colleges and universities, how the explosive
growth in on line student enrollment has globally

Monty Python And The Holy Grail 1975 Directed By Terry...
The infamous British film known as Monty Python and the Holy Grail 1975 directed by Terry
Gilliam and Terry Jones, was considered a cult classic among the comedy genre. But what made
it so significant among other films during that era, and why is does it still stand the test of time?
Classical films were originally considered more than just another form of entertainment. This form
of media allowed artist to visually express their personal views through the big screen. Some film
makers tend to lean more on either the avant garde or political side of cinema to tell their story.
Being able to utilize film techniques in the most sophisticated ways to tell a narrative is a challenge,
but aesthetics are cognitively powerful within this art form.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

It is a reaction to the concept of modernism; a style or movement in the arts that aims to depart
significantly from classical and traditional forms in the early 20th century. Postmodern lacks a
precise definition, but share many aspects of modernism. They are fueled by post
industrialization, and driven by late capitalism. However, there are a few distinctions that make it
quite deliberate from its predecessor. According to Fredric Jameson s theory, the experience of an
art is mediated by technology and/or capitalism so we no longer experience things as natural
(Jameson 64). In other words there are effects that create this erosion of high culture and low culture
. In addition of devaluing historical contexts, while lacking an ideology because the focus on a
surface image of the art. Furthermore, it refocuses on the individual rather than the singular subject.
The basic concept of postmodernism is the refusal to think historically, and disdain for the thought
of underlying reality as actuality. Overall postmodernism is broad, but very retrospective in terms
of content, form and style within cinema. It is all about recycling materials in order to reproduce
for the interest of the individual being rather than a singularity subject. On the other hand, Monty
Python and the Holy Grail style and form are what separate itself from the masses of classical
cinema, whether artistic or mainstream. The writers, producers and directors of this film were

Cool Jazz Research Paper
Yes, I feel the term cool jazz is a good one to describe the music of Stan Getz, Chet Baker, and
Miles Davis because they re sound was softer than that of Bop. They rarely used vibrato and
played with low levels of volume. The sound they displayed was that of a relaxing feeling. Their
musicwasn t as loud and complex as the sound of Bop. It is very mellow and subdued, and the
term cool fits it perfectly.
Hard Bop was played mainly from East Coast and Midwest Musicians. It evolved directly from bop
during the 1950s, and was relatively neglected by the public. Cool Jazz on the other hand, consisted
of mainly West Coast musicians. Some of the players of cool jazz are among the most popular
musicians in jazz. Although the sound quality of

Development Of A Business Case
Development of a Business Case
Businesses evolve and adjust over time, and considering upcoming growth and direction into the
business plan can be an effective way to plan for changes in the market, growing or slowing trends,
and new innovations or directions to take as the company grows (Hook, Stehn, Brege, 2015). Good
management entails setting detailed objectives and then tracking as well as ensuring consistent
follow up.
The main drive of a business plan is to express what the current business state is and what the
future state appear to be (Weissbrod, Bocken, 2017). Expounding the purpose and direction of
your business allows you to recognize what task should be completed in order to move forward.

Hills Like White Elephant Symbolism Essay
Hills Like White Elephants The short story Hills like White Elephants by Ernest Hemingway uses
symbolism to uncover the hidden issue that the couple is facing abortion. They can either choose
to live a selfish life with no change, or chose a life that is selfless with the change that the girl
craves. The symbols such as the hills, drinking, the station, and characters actions that are used
throughout the story are used to help the reader understand the theme of abortion. The hills
symbolize a pregnant belly, the train tracks symbolize that they have come to a cross road in their
life, and the drinking symbolizes the different views The American and the girl have on abortion.
The hills are seen as two white elephants that portray the image... Show more content on

The station is placed between two lines of rails purposely to show her position at the station that
places her in between both hills forcing her to choose a side. The train station is a focal point
between the present and the future time that they have to make their decision before getting on
the train. Usually when found in stories, places such as train stations, bus stations, and airports
give stories a sense of transition or being in between experiences. Since the express wasn t
coming for another 40 minutes, the topic of the abortion is brought up. It s as if the time that
they are waiting for the express from Barcelona is the amount of time that the couple has to
make their decision. The couple sits at a table in the shade, outside the building while they wait
for the express from Barcelona. A bamboo beaded curtain hangs in the doorway of the bar.
Bamboo is hollow, so when you look at it from a certain angle, it is a ring. This represents the
womb as empty if they decide to go through with the abortion. If there is a string that runs through
the bamboo, it makes it seem like the space is filled, much like a pregnant belly would be. On the
American and the girl s luggage, there were labels on them from all the hotels where they had spent
nights . The luggage can be seen as an outline of their journey that has brought them to

Bishop T. D. Jakes And Elevation Church s Steven Furtick
Interview Reflection In class, we viewed a discussion between bishop T.D. Jakes and Elevation
Church s Steven Furtick. Jakes recently released a book by the title of Soar. This book gives
insights into business and success through the lense of a Christian perspective. Many things he
said were great takeaways; but one particular topic I would like to reflect on is the idea of asking
Godfor things. We find ourselves asking God for tables. God doesn t make tables, He makes
trees. Sometimes we want something super specific and nice without doing anything ourselves. It
is hard to draw the line between how much free will we have, because of the fact that God is all
knowing and all powerful. However, we should remember, as Christians, that God

Temporary Appropriation Paper
Since the 60s a vast literature (Jacobs, 1961; Harvey, 1973; Mitchell, 2003; Sennett, 2006) has
discussed the physical attributes of built environment for the purpose of creating lively and
inclusive public spaces through the temporary appropriation. Cities are in a constant process of
transformation and the way in which they are designed and re designed might affect the rationale
use of public spaces and its temporary appropriation. The temporary appropriation is defined here
as the act in which people use public spaces to carry out individual or collective activities other
than the purpose that the space was originally designed for (Fonseca Rodriguez, 2015a). Table 1

The Role Of Parents Are Becoming A Common Picture
When a child is born into this world, the traditional thing to have straight out the womb, is a
mom. This mom would then have a spouse which would help parent that child through
adolescence and beyond. Parents are given the job of raising their son or daughter so that they
can live on their own and make choices by themselves. Parents in today s society aren t the
typical household piece you tend to see in movies and read in books. Before, it was always a
mom and dad who were female and male. Today, a child doesn t always have that, they can have
two moms or two dads, and sometimes one or the other. Homosexualityand single parents are
becoming a common picture you see in households. Each situation has its benefits, with problems

In today s world the typical human parenting is by heterosexual, homosexual, or single parenting
with science fiction differing by using exogenesis or androgyny as a possible way of parenting.
However, many science fiction sources use single moms as a lead role in child raising, by
influencing her with traits that equal both man and woman. I will then explore relationship
statuses, ranging from a sudden death in the family due to a rising dystopia or possibly a mother
who is single because of the extinction of male bodies on Earth. Furthermore, I will next give
details on the viewpoints given by parents, whether it be from a female, male, or artificial
intelligence, and how important this part is in child development. Then this paper will continue by
explaining how important human intervention is in childhood development from the foundation of
man and woman, and through this interaction, a child is given the best possibility at life in today s
growing world. Finally, children begin sharing viewpoints of their own that have been influenced
by their parents. The parent s viewpoint being at times influenced by society, tending to go on the
side of majority and overall affecting a child s development.

Why Do You Say Moral I Say Huckleberry Finn
You Say Morals , I Say Ethics American author and humorist Mark Twain s The Adventures of
Huckleberry Finn is often labeled the Great American Novel due not only to its tendency towards
Realism and its controversial issue of slavery, but also the ethical and moral challenges faced within
the book. Huckleberry Finn, as the novel progresses, physically and mentally grows due to the
circumstances, decisions, and obstacles he endures; with such experiences come the gain of moral
development. However, despite whatever moral maturity Huck undergoes, his ethics remain
stagnant.
While there is an interchangeable use and common overlap between morals and ethics, they differ
greatly and there is an important distinction between the two. The ... Show more content on

His morals develop as his experiences end up changing his opinions. Many of Huck s original
principals evolve particularly his views of death and lying. At first, Huck s grasp of death is
merely the concept of death, and one he views as exciting. In chapter two, Huck and Tom Sawyers
gang speak and encourage death and violence nonchalantly in fact, the boys order that should
anyone desert the gang, their family shall face the consequences of death as compensation of
such a betrayal: they said that every boy must have a family or somebody to kill, or else it
wouldn t be fair and square for the others...and so I offered them Miss Watson they could kill her
(Twain, 8). However, Huck is later so shaken by the horror and death that he witnessed during
the Grangerford and Shepherdson murders that he says I ain t a going to tell all that happened
it would make me sick again if I was to do that. I wished I hadn t ever come ashore that night to
see such things. I ain t ever going to get shut of them lots of times I dream about them (Twain,
115). Needless to say, Huck s tolerance and views of death change dramatically and he now sees
death as a horrible realty rather than a romanticized concept. Huck s moral compass also develops
in terms of the acceptability of deceit. Huckleberry lies viciously to Jim at one point, for no reason
other than for his own enjoyment: Well, this is too many for me, Jim. I

Media Influence On Lesbian Identity
Through the questionnaire and responses from all six participants, some dominant and overall
themes emerged. I found that the results of this investigation did and did not cooperate with my
initial hypothesis for reasons that I will explain more in the following paragraphs. The current
research both confirms and departs from existing research done on this topic, as there is a mixture
of lesbian representations including media and stereotypes having both positive and negative
influences on lesbian identity. As mentioned in the data results, the overall opinion by the group of
participants was that lesbian representations including media imagery and resulting stereotypes, did
not have a significant influence on lesbians self identity. When... Show more content on

Although majority of the participants said that they assumed media representations had
negative impacts on other lesbians identities and lesbian communities, it was also brought up
that it could and can be used as a positive influence on identity. One of the examples given by one
of the participants was the media s use in helping her realize she was a lesbian in the first place
by portraying lesbian women that she began to have sexual feelings for. Another women had
explained that she felt if a young girl was struggling with sexuality, media could possible provide
the outlet for her to not only learn about lesbian relationships but to help identify herself as one
as well. It is through Gomillion s article that we can relate to the medias positive influence on
lesbian identity where she explains, media had influenced self realization, coming out, and
current identities by providing role models and inspiration and also media role models serve as
sources of pride, inspiration, and comfort (330). We can see that media has the potential to aid
and contribute positivity to lesbians self identity, if only we can move from the stereotypical and
unrealistic representations so dominantly used. The participants also expressed a sense of media s
growing potential to have a positive influence on lesbian identity. The history of lesbian invisibility
and the vast number of lesbians and lesbian relationships currently on mainstream media has the
potential to greatly impact how lesbians are viewed and thus how they may look at themselves. As
lesbianism becomes more of a norm and less of a fetish and a broader variety of lesbian women are
brought into the mainstream hopefully including different races, classes, abilities,

Intellectual Property Laws Of Australia Essay
Intellectual property is a broad term that is used to refer to the rights that the owner of an invention
or an artwork enjoys. An example of intellectual property law is the Trade Related Aspect of
Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPs), which gives individual rights such as patent, designs, and
trademark. Intellectual propertyis contained in the Article 2(viii) of the convention, which led the
establishment of the World Intellectual PropertyOrganization (WIPO). Literary works, inventions,
discoveries, trademarks, and industrial designs are among the rights that are provided in WIPO.
Intellectual property in Australia has a strong judicial support.
Introduction An effective system of intellectual property is important in facilitating innovation as
well as economic growth within a country and across all its borders (Davidson, Monoti, Wiseman,
2012). The current global economy is concentrating more in the invention of ideas that are original,
other than in manufacturing of machines. To enhance and protect these ideas, there ought to be
effective intellectual property laws. The government of Australia has prioritized the protection of
original ideas from individuals through copyright, patent, and trademarks among other intelligent
property laws, which give the inventor a temporary period to enjoy the financial benefits of his or
her original idea. The major purposes of intellectual property laws can be contested; therefore, they
create areas of interest for

The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The Iliad
The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Iliad are two extremely different stories, The Iliad being a tale of
war (specifically the Trojan War) while the Epic of Gilgamesh is a true Epic in the sense that it is
a journey, all about the development of the characters. While there are many different themes
throughout both books, one of the most important themes is the way that friendship develops both
of the people involved and the way that it ties into the story overall. In the Epic of Gilgamesh,
Enkidu and Gilgamesh start off as polar opposites while in the Iliad, Achillesand Patroclus are great
friends from the very beginning. In each of the stories, one of the friends dies and it leaves a
permanent mark on the other that changes his behavior in a way that sets the stage for the rest of
the story. However, I think that the greater change of the two happens in Achilles since the death
of his friend leads him to completely change character, from the man who allows his friend to take
his place while he cowers in fear to the man who leads the charge that wins the war. Gilgamesh on
the other hand, continues the journey that he and Enkidu started but even until the end he struggles
with his selfish nature. Prior to Enkidu and Patroclus their deaths, the friendships in each of the
stories already have a profound effect on Gilgamesh and Achilles. At the beginning of the Epic of
Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh is a tyrannical ruler in the land of Uruk. At the beginning of the story, we

Blood As An Image In Macbeth Essay
Shakespeare uses the symbol of blood in MacBeth to represent treason, guilt, murder and death.
These ideas are constant throughout the book. There are many examples of blood representing
these three ideas in the book.
Blood is mentioned throughout the play and mainly in reference to murder or treason. The first
reference to blood is in MacBeth s soliloquy in Act 2, Scene 1, Lines 33 61, when Macbeth sees
the bloody dagger floating in the air before him. Also in this soliloquy on line 46 he sees quot;on
thy blade and dudgeon gouts of blood quot;, this means that there is blood on the handle and spots
of blood on the handle. This is implying that the dagger was viciously and maliciously used on
someone. Shakespeare most likely put this in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Again, blood is being used to describe treason, murder and death.
Act 5, Scene 1 is the famous sleepwalking scene. While Lady MacBeth is sleepwalking she makes
many references to the evil deeds that Macbeth and herself have committed, most of which include
references to blood. In Act 5, Scene 1, Line 31, She goes through the motions of washing her hands
saying quot;Out damned spot! Out, I say quot; in reference to the blood that stained her hands after
smearing it all over the servants after assisting MacBeth in the treasonous murder of MacBeth.
This also represents her guilt of the murder. In Act 5, Scene 1, Line 38 she makes another
reference to the guilt saying, quot; What, will these hands ne er be clean? quot; The last reference
she makes to the blood being on her hands representing her guilt is in Act 5, Scene 1, Lines 44 45,
quot;Here s the smell of the blood still. All the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this hand. quot;
All these references are to murder, death, treason, and guilt.
Throughout the play, Shakespeare effectively conveys theme of death, murder, treason, and guilt
through the symbol of blood. Normally, the word blood makes us think about injury and being an
essential part of life. The symbol of blood was

Rise Of Carthage Research Paper
After so many battles, such as against the Latins, Etruscans, and the Samnites, Rome was at her
strongest than ever before. The Romans had such great power, that they wanted more than just the
conquering of Italy (Morey, 1901). In the ambition for more, the Romans encountered the city of
Carthage which was a growing city building upon their strength that Rome wished acquire (Morey,

The Romans delayed in whether deciding to help out or not, but soon realized that if they didn t,
Carthage would be called and acquire part of the island (Morey, 1901). It was due to their late
arrival, that a Carthaginian garrison had been already admitted in the city and conquered most of
the surrounding cities of the island (Morey, 1901). The Romans, though, achieved the possession of
Messana (Morey, 1901). The king of Syracuse along with the Carthaginians attempted to remove the
Romans out of Sicily (Morey, 1901). But the Romans showed their greater strength at land against
both, the king and the Carthaginians, and which led the king to overturn their alliance in favor of
the Romans (Morey, 1901).
The Romans then knew that in order to win the battle against the Carthaginians, they would need
a stronger navy to fight at sea (Morey, 1901). So the Romans constructed 100 replica vessels of a
Carthaginian vessel that had wrecked in the coast of Italy, within 60 days (Morey, 1901). At the

Carthaginians hand to hand while at sea (Morey,

Lauren Smith Case
Ethics should form an integral part of every organization. Most companies have a manual that lays
down guidelines regarding ethical practices in their organization. People associated with the
company should abide by these guidelines.
In the given case, Lauren Smith was appointed as assistant account manager in the government
contracts division of a large architecture and engineering firm. The clients of the firm were
primarily federal and state governmental agencies. The firm had applied for an enormous project to
design a new military hospital complex. Furthermore, if the contract was awarded to the firm, each
member of the project would be suitably compensated.
The leader of the project, Brian Jenkins is in constant touch with George Miller, who the former

information to Brian in exchange for a bonus. Lauren Smith became aware of this practice when
Brian took her to lunch with him. The manual of the company clearly states that this practice was
unethical as it would constitute insider trading.
After going through the manual, Lauren discussed the matter with fellow team members. One of
them, Sue Garcia suggested that it was a normal practice to share inside information. She further

June 17th, 1972 would be a day America would never forget it was the start of one of the largest
scandals in our government. Richard Nixon was president of the United States and the people

the Watergate Scandal. This was an interesting time in history because it was a large cover up by
the Republican Party. Also, how different people reacted to this event was fascinating because

Mr. Hunt has disappeared.1 The connection between Nixon and the scandal was undeniable, as
the investigations continued to happen more and more information was revealed, and the tie
between the burglary and the Republican Party grew. The five men who had been arrested had
been found with bugging and eavesdropping devices, different types of cameras and around
$5,000 dollars all in big bills. The money has now been traced. It turns out to be part of $114,000
which found its way from the Nixon headquarters to the Miami bank account of Bernard L.
Barker, one of the five men arrested at the Watergate.1 Journalists were writing up a storm during
this time, finding more and more ways to peg this on the Republican Party and Nixon, making
them have no way out besides admitting they were guilty. Despite denying that they had no way of
knowing how that money got to Mr. Barker, the people had no other choice then to believe them
guilty, stirring up more problems for Nixon s committee. From reading the articles that were
published in the newspapers during this time, it seems as though that the people were captivated by
what was happening and disgusted with the outright denial that the Republican Party lawyers and

already loved traveling and I was so in love with this job because the career would be receiving a

many benefits including being able to resolve world issues and help un developed countries with
their issues. Being a diplomat for the U.S government requires many requirements. There are not
many educational requirements a college degree is sufficient enough. What is really needed is to
pass the Foreign Service Exam. This exam consists of a written exam, oral interview, and a

Passing all those will allow you to be selected into the Foreign Service for the United States
government. This process is said to be more selective than Harvard University (Working Abroad).

Champlain was a Frenchman who was also the first European to come into contact with the Natives

against the Natives for the land. Champlain befriended Canadian tribes and although the language
barrier prevented them from communicating, they had a common goal: to push the Mohawks
towards the northeast. In July of 1609, Champlain and his Algonquian allies met with the Mohawks

De Stijl Research Paper
There were many contributions made by the artists and designers working in the De Stijl and
the Constructivism movements. Two artists that greatly contributed to the De Stijl movement
were Picasso and Braque. Their paintings helped in defining a vocabulary of geometric forms ,
while still using the elements of the real world. Another very important contributor to the De
Stijl movement was Piet Mondrian. Mondrian also helped in defining the vocabulary of art and
design, even further than Picasso and Braque had previously done. He used only primary colors,
along with black and white, in his artwork. Mainly, all the artists of the De Stijl movement
wanted their artwork to simply rely on the fundamental characteristics of having a vertical and
horizontal grid. These artists hoped by using this grid, their artwork would open up space,
instead of enclosing space. Gerrit Rietveld showed these same defining characteristics of the De
Stijl art in his famous chair. His chair completely went against the traditional, or the expected,
elements of a normal chair. Both the arms and the base of the chair are insistently locked in a

Alka Seltzer Lab
What is the Percent by Mass of NaHCO3 in Alka Seltzer Tablets?
Introduction:
The moment an Alka Seltzer tablet hits water, it begins to fizz. These tablets are over the counter
antacids and pain relief medications that contain aspirin, sodium bicarbonate, and citric acid. The
fizzing is a result of a reaction occurring where carbon dioxide (in the form of bubbles), water, and
sodium acetate is formed. The fizzing and carbon dioxide bubbles are a result of the sodium
bicarbonate splitting and reacting with the citric acid. In this experiment we are determining the
percent by mass of sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) in Alka Seltzer tablets and exploring the
relationship between amounts of reactants and products.
Experimental:
First students obtained 8 graduated cylinders and labeled them. Each one contained a different ratio
of vinegar and water. These graduated cylinders with the liquid were weighed and recorded. Then,
students obtained an Alka Seltzer tablet and recorded its mass. Then one alka seltzer tablet was

In this experiment, the precision of percent by mass of sodium carbonate was decent. It seemed
to be consistent, although we seemed to have an outlier in our fifth trial. I believe this was due to
human error of adding too much vinegar to this graduated cylinder. The accuracy of our results

Overview of Lord of the Flies by William Golding Essay...
Lord of the Flies
This book, Lord of the Flies, was written by English author William Golding. It was his first book
and when it was published in 1954, he was 43 years old. In 1983, the author got a novel prize in
literature (Bruce, 1993). The book is about tragic story of young boys in an unknown island in
war time. Although the book was not great success at that time, it soon became a best seller and it
is a recommended book in the world now. It has been cinematized three times since 1963. William
Golding took elite courses. He graduated Oxford University and he was a teacher. He served in the
navy for a time and reinstated as teacher (Nobelprize.org). I think his intelligence and military
experience formed this story.

Simon is one of Ralph s group members and he is a representative character of peace and
positive mind. He loves the nature of the island and he has positive prospect about the future that
bring them successful escape. He is the boy who saw an illusion of Lord of the files at first. The
book started at a war. Many boys on the plane got accident and suddenly fell on the island. The
boys are all normal students and some of them belong to a musical choir. They don t know each
other and they have to survive in the island without adults. It is a wild and children vote for
leader not to be savage and to survive. They are isolated from civilization. They need to establish
new state by their own efforts. In the far island, because nobody knows where they are, waiting for
passing ship, they make some rules and try to be cultured men. However, they slowly obey to
natural instinct and become more and more insane.
English boys fly away from war and nuclear bomb. A plane that is boarded by children crashes in
an island in the Pacific and the pilot dies. After all children gather, they decide to make a group
leader by vote. There were two candidates Ralph, who makes children gather, and Jack, who is a
leader of choir boys. Ralph won and it makes Jack feel terrible. At first, children expect their free
life without any adults, such as parents or teachers. They just play games and play in water. As
being a rational child, Ralph, however, decides to light a fire so that

Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
Song Imaginative Journey
The Beatles primarily John Lennon.
The song Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds , performed by The Beatles, written in the year 1967, by
John Lennon, takes the listener on a journey into the imagination. The most common interpretation
of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds is that the lyrics of the song follow the journey that one would
embark on after taking the drug LSD which would project wild imaginings. Other interpretations of
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds are that Lennon had a girlfriend named Lucy and that the song is
primarily about her.. During Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds , the imaginative journey emanates

In Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds , there is a lot of imagery; these following examples make it
very easy to project the pictures of the song into the mind. Imagery is shown by lines such as
cellophane flowers of yellow and green and marmalade skies these lines give the listener a sense
of being there, and being able to see what the composer has portrayed in the song.
The second person technique combined with the technique of imagery, created by alliteration,
tangerine trees and plasticine porters which helps the description stand out, and adjectives such as
newspaper taxis .
There are some techniques that are harder to find, and be easily looked over. This is shown in
the starting line of each verse is innocent and would maybe appeal to a child s mind. For example
the newspaper taxis appearing on the shore could refer to paper boats appearing on the shore.
This text explores the journey as means of searching for something as throughout the song, the
listener is told to look for the girl with the sun in her eyes who appears difficult to find. Not until
the end of the song and, the end of the journey, the girl with kaleidoscope eyes is found. It seems
that she was the purpose of the journey into the imaginative world.
This song relates to journeys because it is believed to be an acid trip, it is a journey through John

The Importance Of Still Life
Everything you ve gone through in your life has made you into the person you are today. Don t
hate on the past or the people that have been left there. You are stronger because of all the
challenges and circumstances that you ve endured. Be thankful for everything because as you
become stronger...life becomes easier Quoted by Robert Tew. Robert Tew explained in this
quote that someone or something has made you the person you are today. Whether it be family,
friends, someone who has inspired you or personal experiences we all have reasons as to what
made us the way we are. I recently made a still life representing what made me the person I am
today. If you looked at it you might be confused about the items so I will be explaining the
significants of the items and why it made me the person I am today. At an early age, with the
help of my family, I started to form into the person I am today. My family is a big part of my life
and has been since I could remember. If you look at my still life you can see a picture of my
family and I in the left corner. In the picture is my mom Tammy, my stepdad Tom, my sister
Felicia, and Donnie which is Felicia s boyfriend of about 5 years. This picture was taken a
couple years ago on vacation to Florida. My family is a significant part of my life because they
all have been through everything with me. I may disappoint them sometimes but I know at the end

Analysis of BachВґs Work Essay
Before actually going into the analysis of the actual piece itself, background information would
be helpful. The composition was written by Bach, and it is part of the sonatas and partitas for
solo violin. For this example, Partita II in d minor, movement I, Allemanda, will be discussed.
Allemanda, sometimes spelled allemande, derives from German and simply means dance. While
there are various tempos used, this movement is usually fast, around 120 beats per minute. Strip
all the decorations and ornaments, and there is a straight forward analysis. The piece begins and
ends in D, cadencing to tonic. There is an A halfway in between, creating a half cadence. In order

With numerous rhythms to choose from, along with a wide assortment of notes, it makes much
more sense why that G sharp is longer than that note or why this D is only one sixteenth note.
Breaking down each rhythmical pattern will create better understanding as to why some passages
have more emphasis than others. The four 16th pattern will start. Because they are the most
frequent out of any other rhythm type, it makes logical sense they are the star of the show. It is the
milk when making a strawberry smoothie. Without the milk, it would fall apart. Milk is the base
that holds everything together, like glue. The four 16th notes are the cohesion that binds the piece
into a solid entity. A milkshake would not be defined as a milkshake without the milk. It even has
the word milk in it. This highlights the importance of its significance. Substituting milk might work,
but it diminishes the effects of the creation. The second rhythm pattern is the one 16th/two 32nd
/two 16th. What is the difference between the first pattern and this one? This one has two 32nd
notes. Both own three 16th notes, so that one distinction is the only idea that makes it different.
One clean might seem trivial, but it establishes a notable contrast. They are the strawberries when
making a strawberry smoothie. They become second in command in terms of importance of the
smoothie. It would make sense the smoothie tastes of strawberry, does

Reasonable Religious Disagreements Summary
In Reasonable Religious Disagreements, Feldman discusses the role of intolerance and relativism
in argumentation in regards to how epistemic peers who have a share of the same evidence
reasonably maintain their own belief, all the while, maintaining that the other party of the
disagreement is reasonable in their belief as well. This essay will concentrate on the benefits of
Feldman s observation and the benefits of critical thinking in argumentation as well as elaborate
on the main reason as to why people so desperately agree to disagree in relation to media coverage.
Feldman begins the introduction of his inquiry by identifying the importance of argumentation in
critical thinking and epistemology. He states, Epistemology is the abstract study of knowledge
and rationality. Critical thinking, as I understand it, is a kind of applied epistemology, the
underlying idea being that thinking clearly and carefully about any issue requires understanding
and applying some fundamental epistemological concepts (Feldman 1). He goes further to
describe arguments as tools for helping us figure out what it is most reasonable to believe
(Feldman 2). A good argument is an earnest exchange between different parties that are trying to
establish an agreeable conclusion. It is for this reason that agreeing to disagree is fallacious. In a
debate, the sole purpose is to challenge ideas and claims in order to come to the paramount and
most logical conclusion. The function of deliberation is

Ph and Buffers Lab
Buffers, and pH, and Diffusion oh my The pH of a solution is the measure of the concentration of
charged Hydrogen ions in that given solution. A solution with a pH lower than seven is
considered to be acidic. A solution with a higher pH is a base. It is very important for organisms to
maintain a stable pH. Biological molecules such as proteins function only at a certain pH level and
any changes in pH can result in them not functioning properly. To maintain these constant pH
levels, buffer solutions are used. A buffer solutioncan resist change to small additions of acids or

Freedom Of Speech Should Not Be Limited
Freedom of Speech Should not be Limited Censorship is the limitation of writing or speech that is
considered to be harmful to the citizens of the nation. Even though censorship can be carried out by
individuals, mostly it s carried out by the government and used to suppress speeches and media
contacts. The idea of censorship spread in Western Europe soon after the printing press in the late
1400s. Before printing, books were made in monasteries, and they decided what to control. The
invention, printing press ended the control, monasteries had over written words. Written materials
were also made faster and were spread. Soon after the invention, the government started censoring
what can be written and distributed ( Censorship ). To protect citizens from the government, the Bill
of Rights was created and had the First Amendment in it. The First Amendment was ratified in 1791
in the United States as part of the Bill of Rights and was added to the Constitution ( First
Amendment ). It was added as colonists demanded the protection of their individual rights. The
Amendment promises its citizens the right to express their thoughts without congress limiting it,
however, by starting censorship, congress violated the First Amendment. In addition, congress goes
one step further and even makes national laws to suppress speech. The First Amendment is not a
viable document because throughout history and still today United States citizens are being

Genetic disorders are a topic in biology that can not be avoided. The fact is that genetic disorders
can happen in humans, plants or animal. No one and nothing is safe from a genetic disorder. A
genetic disorder can appear in the first years off life, or can appear much later in life when least
expected. A basic principal of biology states that the behavior of chromosomes during the meiosis
process can account for genetic inheritance patterns. There are many reasons for genetic disorders.

Tess at this stage was a mere of vessel of emotion untinctured by experience and she did not

Tess was seen as an outcast. She had given birth to a bastard child an the rigid social attitudes of

John Maynard Keynes s Economic Theory And Policy After...
At the start of the Great Depression, people in all affected countries believed that a free market
based on supply and demand with no government control would deliver full employment. John
Maynard Keynes came up with a theory as a counterargument: that aggregate demand is the single
most powerful force in any economy. Keynes explains that free markets are not able to balance
themselves out enough to lead to the full employment everyone was waiting for. The 1930s gave
rise to Keynes ideas, especially after the publication of his revolutionary book The General Theory
of Employment, Interest, and Money in 1936. Keynesian economicsdominated economic theory
and policy after World War II until the 1970s, when the issue of stagflation introduced itself to a
disappointingly unprepared Keynes. (CITE JAHAN P.54)
Keynes and His Theory
John Maynard Keynes was a well known British economist, and is credited with the establishment
of modern macroeconomics. One must remember that the concept of macroeconomics already
existed, but Keynes addition includes a systematic approach to aggregate economic phenomena.
(CITE SNOWDON/VANE P 13) While The General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money
might be his most famous work, he also had two other important works released before it. The
first was The Economic Consequences of the Peace in 1919, arguing that the Versailles Treaty
would lead to another war in Europe. The second, released just six years before General Theory,

The Purpose of Theatre during the 20th Century
The Purpose of Theatre during the 20th Century Throughout centuries, theatre has been an
enormous impact throughout society. During the 18th century, theatre had played a significant role
to society because it emphasized Rationalism (The Age of Reason), which began to lead away from
the limitations of Neoclassicism. Then in the 19th century, theatrewas important because it

of what theatre was truly represented. One purpose of theatre during the 20th century was to
emphasize realism. Realism had initially begun as an experiment to make theatre more impactful
to society. It was a reaction against the 19th century s ideology of theatre, melodrama. It had soon
become a well known innovation in mainstream theatre. Due to its common ideology, it had also
caused adventurous innovations to aspire as well. The reason for emphasizing realism was for
realistic artists to create an illusion of everyday life onstage.
A similar movement to realism that changed the ideology of theatre was naturalism; a movement
that had originally began in France in the 19th century and spread throughout Europe in the 20th
century. Naturalists rebut that the presentation should be represented as a slice of life . Many of the

Analysis Of Viva La Vida
Many history aficionados are aware that, for several millennia, civilizations have flourished into
gargantuan empires only to dwindle into corruption and ultimately meet their demise. Coldplay s
critically acclaimed Viva La Vida embodies this very concept. The song was inspired by the
Mexican phrase of the same name, meaning long live life. It provides a considerably deep narrative
that involves a once esteemed monarch reminiscing about his golden age upon the throne, and
detailing how his transition toward totalitarianism ultimately caused the citizens to seek retribution
through a coup d Г©tat ( Viva La Vida). The song debuted in early May of 2008 and was initially
exclusive to Apple s iTunes Store for nearly three months until Coldplayreleased a proper music
video alongside a CD single at the end of July. Having been the best selling song on iTunes for
the entirety of 2008, there is little doubt that it has reached a vast and diverse audience ( Viva La
Vida ). A plethora of bands has written covers of Viva La Vida, attempting to convey similar
themes to the ones that Coldplay established while applying their own musical expertise and
twists to craft a fresh and interesting experience. To analyze the many contrasts present among
these covers, this paper will scrutinize three approaches: Coldplay s original version, a variation
performed by Future Idiots, and one presented by Sofia Karlberg. Coldplay s Viva La Vida is a

Daisy And Jig Character Analysis
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder Margaret Wolfe Hungerford. An immortal and self
explanatory quote like this has no reason to be questioned. One person may value someone s
outer and inner beauty differently than the next, therefore it is his or her decision whether
someone is beautiful or not. But what if someone spent his or her life trying to alter the people s
perceptions around them; what if someone spent his or her life manipulating the beholder s eyes to
view that person as the precious diamond in a cave full of stones? Hills Like White Elephants , a
short story written by Ernest Mil ler Hemingway, illustrates this rebellion and control through his
belligerent and prominent character, Jig. In the novel, The Great Gatsby, written... Show more

In fact, it is so clear, that even the audience knows this within the first fifteen pages of the book.
Through Nick s perspective, the reader can already tell that all of Daisy s actions happen for
their own reason; it is known that Daisy is intelligent and on top of everything, yet she pretends
to be completely unaware of the long term affair that her rich husband has been having. Daisy
also throws out some unexpected bursts of intellect in conversation, indicating a hidden
brainpower beneath the charade. I m glad it s a girl. And I hope she ll be a fool that s the best
thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool (Fitzgerald 17). This quote shows that Daisy
is fully aware of the role that she feels women should play in the 1920s. Daisy hopes her daughter
will grow up to be a fool because it is a reflection of herself and her attitude. She is in an abusive
and an untrusted relationship but all she does is pretend to be oblivious to the people around her.
She knows of the struggle that women have to go through during her time period and wants her
daughter to be unaware of the inequality and negativity that comes with being a woman. By
blurting out this disheartening and honest statement about gender roles and the power that comes
with it shows that there is a lot more depth and intellect that comes with her

Descriptive Essay On The Beast
A HUNTER
After several hours of following the trace of the beast without sleeping or even resting, Anatoly was
starting to feel exhaustion getting to his bones. The night before, right after lying down to sleep, he
heard it walking around but he didnВґt manage to see it. He felt his breath warming his
surroundings as it tried to remain silent. It moved slowly expecting his guest to continue asleep; it
did everything it could to observe without being observed but it failed. Anatoly packed up
immediately and began the search.
He had arrived in the country three months ago from the millennial land of the Tsars. He was
marveled by the green gigantic mountains as he moved patiently towards his destination. He saw
the people covered in dark long clothes with no collars or sleeves, but a single hole for their heads
to pass through.
He stared at the old houses made of mud and manure where more insects lived than people. Dogs
wandered these lands trying to protect their owners from invisible enemies that dared to jump over
the stone fences and cross their fields. Trees created a mattress of dramatic silence where spirits
whispered their lost desires.
He saw this and so much more and felt fascinated by the lost world that science had destroyed in his
old continent.
When he got off the bus in the first town, he asked around about the creature that had been seen six
months ago by an expeditionary German group. He held in his hands the smudgy clipping taken
from a national

Sterling IX540: Research Methods for Education and Instructional Technology Professor Kimberly Case December 13, 2014 Introduction Virtual Universities are on the rise and are a legitimate threat to replace the traditional University. The most prominent reason for the current explosion in student enrollment in the virtual universities, are advancements in telecommunications technologies. This paper presents a methodology for quantitatively testing the relationship between growth in telecommunications technologies, and parallel growth in student enrollment in Category 1, Title IV 2yr and 4yr degree granting distance education programs recognized by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As advancements in telecommunications technologies go forward the costs associated with such technologies have decreased while the benefits increased. New cutting edge technologies are always priced at a premium when they are introduced into the market. As competitors enter the market the cost of the technology gradually declines and demand rises following the law of demand. In this project one of the major questions that must be answered is whether the value of low cost distance education programs, supported by new and innovative telecommunication technologies, is greater than the value of traditional educational programs costing much more. The researcher proposes that the explosive growth in student enrollment in on line programs answer this question affirmatively. The researcher will use quantitative analysis to support the null hypothesis identified in the document. Within the context of this quasi experimental study the researcher has carefully investigated the role advancements in telecommunications technologies have played in the establishment and growth of virtual universities in the U.S., the impact telecommunications technologies have had on Title IV, Post Secondary 2yr and 4yr degree granting colleges and universities, how the explosive growth in on line student enrollment has globally ... The infamous British film known as Monty Python and the Holy Grail 1975 directed by Terry Gilliam and Terry Jones, was considered a cult classic among the comedy genre. But what made it so significant among other films during that era, and why is does it still stand the test of time? Classical films were originally considered more than just another form of entertainment. This form of media allowed artist to visually express their personal views through the big screen. Some film makers tend to lean more on either the avant garde or political side of cinema to tell their story. Postmodern lacks a precise definition, but share many aspects of modernism. They are fueled by post industrialization, and driven by late capitalism. However, there are a few distinctions that make it quite deliberate from its predecessor. According to Fredric Jameson s theory, the experience of an art is mediated by technology and/or capitalism so we no longer experience things as natural (Jameson 64). They rarely used vibrato and played with low levels of volume. The sound they displayed was that of a relaxing feeling. Their musicwasn t as loud and complex as the sound of Bop. It is very mellow and subdued, and the term cool fits it perfectly. Hard Bop was played mainly from East Coast and Midwest Musicians. It evolved directly from bop during the 1950s, and was relatively neglected by the public. Cool Jazz on the other hand, consisted of mainly West Coast musicians. The symbols such as the hills, drinking, the station, and characters actions that are used throughout the story are used to help the reader understand the theme of abortion. The station is placed between two lines of rails purposely to show her position at the station that places her in between both hills forcing her to choose a side. The train station is a focal point between the present and the future time that they have to make their decision before getting on the train. Usually when found in stories, places such as train stations, bus stations, and airports give stories a sense of transition or being in between experiences. Since the express wasn t coming for another 40 minutes, the topic of the abortion is brought up. It s as if the time that they are waiting for the express from Barcelona is the amount of time that the couple has to make their decision. The couple sits at a table in the shade, outside the building while they wait for the express from Barcelona. A bamboo beaded curtain hangs in the doorway of the bar. Bamboo is hollow, so when you look at it from a certain angle, it is a ring. This represents the womb as empty if they decide to go through with the abortion. If there is a string that runs through the bamboo, it makes it seem like the space is filled, much like a pregnant belly would be. Jakes recently released a book by the title of Soar. This book gives insights into business and success through the lense of a Christian perspective. Many things he said were great takeaways; but one particular topic I would like to reflect on is the idea of asking Godfor things. We find ourselves asking God for tables. God doesn t make tables, He makes trees. Sometimes we want something super specific and nice without doing anything ourselves. It is hard to draw the line between how much free will we have, because of the fact that God is all knowing and all powerful. However, we should remember, as Christians, that God ... Why Do You Say Moral I Say Huckleberry Finn You Say Morals , I Say Ethics American author and humorist Mark Twain s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is often labeled the Great American Novel due not only to its tendency towards Realism and its controversial issue of slavery, but also the ethical and moral challenges faced within the book. Huckleberry Finn, as the novel progresses, physically and mentally grows due to the circumstances, decisions, and obstacles he endures; with such experiences come the gain of moral development. At first, Huck s grasp of death is merely the concept of death, and one he views as exciting. I wished I hadn t ever come ashore that night to see such things. I ain t ever going to get shut of them lots of times I dream about them (Twain, 115). Needless to say, Huck s tolerance and views of death change dramatically and he now sees death as a horrible realty rather than a romanticized concept. Another women had explained that she felt if a young girl was struggling with sexuality, media could possible provide the outlet for her to not only learn about lesbian relationships but to help identify herself as one as well. It is through Gomillion s article that we can relate to the medias positive influence on lesbian identity where she explains, media had influenced self realization, coming out, and current identities by providing role models and inspiration and also media role models serve as sources of pride, inspiration, and comfort (330). We can see that media has the potential to aid and contribute positivity to lesbians self identity, if only we can move from the stereotypical and unrealistic representations so dominantly used. The participants also expressed a sense of media s growing potential to have a positive influence on lesbian identity. The history of lesbian invisibility and the vast number of lesbians and lesbian relationships currently on mainstream media has the potential to greatly impact how lesbians are viewed and thus how they may look at themselves. • 12. Intellectual Property Laws Of Australia Essay Intellectual property is a broad term that is used to refer to the rights that the owner of an invention or an artwork enjoys. An example of intellectual property law is the Trade Related Aspect of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPs), which gives individual rights such as patent, designs, and trademark. Intellectual propertyis contained in the Article 2(viii) of the convention, which led the establishment of the World Intellectual PropertyOrganization (WIPO). Literary works, inventions, discoveries, trademarks, and industrial designs are among the rights that are provided in WIPO. Intellectual property in Australia has a strong judicial support. Introduction An effective system of intellectual property is important in facilitating innovation as well as economic growth within a country and across all its borders (Davidson, Monoti, Wiseman, 2012). The current global economy is concentrating more in the invention of ideas that are original, other than in manufacturing of machines. To enhance and protect these ideas, there ought to be effective intellectual property laws. The government of Australia has prioritized the protection of original ideas from individuals through copyright, patent, and trademarks among other intelligent property laws, which give the inventor a temporary period to enjoy the financial benefits of his or her original idea. The major purposes of intellectual property laws can be contested; therefore, they create areas of interest for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. The Epic Of Gilgamesh And The Iliad The Epic of Gilgamesh and the Iliad are two extremely different stories, The Iliad being a tale of war (specifically the Trojan War) while the Epic of Gilgamesh is a true Epic in the sense that it is a journey, all about the development of the characters. While there are many different themes throughout both books, one of the most important themes is the way that friendship develops both of the people involved and the way that it ties into the story overall. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Enkidu and Gilgamesh start off as polar opposites while in the Iliad, Achillesand Patroclus are great friends from the very beginning. In each of the stories, one of the friends dies and it leaves a permanent mark on the other that changes his behavior in a way that sets the stage for the rest of the story. However, I think that the greater change of the two happens in Achilles since the death of his friend leads him to completely change character, from the man who allows his friend to take his place while he cowers in fear to the man who leads the charge that wins the war. Gilgamesh on the other hand, continues the journey that he and Enkidu started but even until the end he struggles with his selfish nature. Prior to Enkidu and Patroclus their deaths, the friendships in each of the stories already have a profound effect on Gilgamesh and Achilles. At the beginning of the Epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh is a tyrannical ruler in the land of Uruk. At the beginning of the story, we learn that he two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Blood As An Image In Macbeth Essay Shakespeare uses the symbol of blood in MacBeth to represent treason, guilt, murder and death. These ideas are constant throughout the book. There are many examples of blood representing these three ideas in the book. Blood is mentioned throughout the play and mainly in reference to murder or treason. The first reference to blood is in MacBeth s soliloquy in Act 2, Scene 1, Lines 33 61, when Macbeth sees the bloody dagger floating in the air before him. Also in this soliloquy on line 46 he sees quot;on thy blade and dudgeon gouts of blood quot;, this means that there is blood on the handle and spots of blood on the handle. Out, I say quot; in reference to the blood that stained her hands after smearing it all over the servants after assisting MacBeth in the treasonous murder of MacBeth. This also represents her guilt of the murder. In Act 5, Scene 1, Line 38 she makes another reference to the guilt saying, quot; What, will these hands ne er be clean? quot; The last reference she makes to the blood being on her hands representing her guilt is in Act 5, Scene 1, Lines 44 45, quot; Here s the smell of the blood still. All the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this hand. quot; All these references are to murder, death, treason, and guilt. Two artists that greatly contributed to the De Stijl movement were Picasso and Braque. Their paintings helped in defining a vocabulary of geometric forms , while still using the elements of the real world. Another very important contributor to the De Stijl movement was Piet Mondrian. Mondrian also helped in defining the vocabulary of art and design, even further than Picasso and Braque had previously done. He used only primary colors, along with black and white, in his artwork. Mainly, all the artists of the De Stijl movement wanted their artwork to simply rely on the fundamental characteristics of having a vertical and horizontal grid. These artists hoped by using this grid, their artwork would open up space, instead of enclosing space. Gerrit Rietveld showed these same defining characteristics of the De Stijl art in his famous chair. His chair completely went against the traditional, or the expected, elements of a normal chair. These tablets are over the counter antacids and pain relief medications that contain aspirin, sodium bicarbonate, and citric acid. The fizzing is a result of a reaction occurring where carbon dioxide (in the form of bubbles), water, and sodium acetate is formed. The fizzing and carbon dioxide bubbles are a result of the sodium bicarbonate splitting and reacting with the citric acid. In this experiment we are determining the percent by mass of sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) in Alka Seltzer tablets and exploring the relationship between amounts of reactants and products. Experimental: First students obtained 8 graduated cylinders and labeled them. Each one contained a different ratio of vinegar and water. Reasonable Religious Disagreements Summary In Reasonable Religious Disagreements, Feldman discusses the role of intolerance and relativism in argumentation in regards to how epistemic peers who have a share of the same evidence reasonably maintain their own belief, all the while, maintaining that the other party of the disagreement is reasonable in their belief as well. This essay will concentrate on the benefits of Feldman s observation and the benefits of critical thinking in argumentation as well as elaborate on the main reason as to why people so desperately agree to disagree in relation to media coverage. Feldman begins the introduction of his inquiry by identifying the importance of argumentation in critical thinking and epistemology. He states, Epistemology is the abstract study of knowledge and rationality. Critical thinking, as I understand it, is a kind of applied epistemology, the underlying idea being that thinking clearly and carefully about any issue requires understanding and applying some fundamental epistemological concepts (Feldman 1). He goes further to describe arguments as tools for helping us figure out what it is most reasonable to believe (Feldman 2). A good argument is an earnest exchange between different parties that are trying to establish an agreeable conclusion. It is for this reason that agreeing to disagree is fallacious. In a debate, the sole purpose is to challenge ideas and claims in order to come to the paramount and most logical conclusion. The function of deliberation is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The next experiment was to test diffusion in agar solution. A petri dish with a layer of solidified agar had four holes punched in it using a No. 5 cork borer. Three holes were punched in a triangle shape with the fourth hole directly in the middle. There should be 15 mm between each outside hole and the middle hole. The three outside holes were filled with one drop each of potassium bromide, potassium Terri cyanide, and sodium chloride. The middle hole was filled with a drop of silver nitrate. It is very important to make sure that none of the holes overflow. After each has been filled allow to sit for an hour and observe the results. In the final experiment we filled a dialysis bag with starch solution and tied off both ends of the bag so that it is water tight. We then filled a separate bag with sodium chloride and submerge both dialysis bags in two beakers of distilled water. We allowed the bags to sit in the water for 10 minutes. We then put silver nitrate into the water that held the dialysis bag filled with sodium chloride and recorded any changes in the water. • 34. Freedom Of Speech Should Not Be Limited Freedom of Speech Should not be Limited Censorship is the limitation of writing or speech that is considered to be harmful to the citizens of the nation. Even though censorship can be carried out by individuals, mostly it s carried out by the government and used to suppress speeches and media contacts. The idea of censorship spread in Western Europe soon after the printing press in the late 1400s. Before printing, books were made in monasteries, and they decided what to control. The invention, printing press ended the control, monasteries had over written words. Written materials were also made faster and were spread. Soon after the invention, the government started censoring what can be written and distributed ( Censorship ). To protect citizens from the government, the Bill of Rights was created and had the First Amendment in it. The First Amendment was ratified in 1791 in the United States as part of the Bill of Rights and was added to the Constitution ( First Amendment ). It was added as colonists demanded the protection of their individual rights. The Amendment promises its citizens the right to express their thoughts without congress limiting it, however, by starting censorship, congress violated the First Amendment. In addition, congress goes one step further and even makes national laws to suppress speech. The First Amendment is not a viable document because throughout history and still today United States citizens are being punished for saying and expressing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

No one and nothing is safe from a genetic disorder. A genetic disorder can appear in the first years off life, or can appear much later in life when least expected. A basic principal of biology states that the behavior of chromosomes during the meiosis process can account for genetic inheritance patterns. There are many reasons for genetic disorders. However under certain circumstances their have been cases of people developing the disease from the recessive gene. In simple terms in order for a person to have the disease both parents must have the trait. If only one parent has the disease there is a chance of the trait being passed on. Huntington disease is a degeneration of the nervous system. It usually occurs in the older part of someone life. As the disease becomes worse it could cause uncontrollable movements in the body. Because the disease causes loss of brain cells, a person can lose memory. It can also contribute to depression. It takes about to ten to twenty years after the first signs of the disease for death to follow. Huntington is a dominant disorder. Children of carriers have a fifty percent chance of inheriting the disease. It is not mandatory for both parents to have the trait for it to be passed on. Huntington is a single gene disorder. Meaning that even if only one parent has the trait the disease can still occur. Alzheimer is on the other hand not a single cell gene disorder. More then one gene mutation can cause this disease. In some cases one gene from each parent is needed in order for the person to get the disease. All offspring in one generation have a fifty / fifty chance of getting this disease. Alzheimer is similar to Huntington in that one loses memory. It usually occurs between the ages of forty and fifty. It currently affects four point five ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Blaming External Pressure for the Tragic Decline of Tess in Tess of the D Urbervilles From the beginning of the novel Tess of the d Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy, it is clear that the main character, Tess, is not going to have an easy life. She is deliberately targeted by cruel Immortals as their sadistic plaything. This is symbolized during the club dance, where Tess is one of the white company but is the only one to have a bright red ribbon in her hair. The mark of blood is on her from the start. Whilst Tess is going to market she accidentally kills the family s horse. Her own guilt for this accidental death is the first stage in a long series of incidents leading to Tess s tragic death at the end of the novel.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Tess at this stage was a mere of vessel of emotion untinctured by experience and she did not know how evil men could sometimes be. She was almost like an attractive piece of bait, used to lure a wealthy young to marry into the Durbeyfield Family and restore them to their previous aristocratic status. Joan Durbeyfield did not care about her daughter s morals she felt that if d Urberville didn t marry her afore, he would after . Tess is seduced by Alec and taken advantage of, and as a result she is seen as a social outcast. At the time of her seduction or rape, Tess had been rescued from the aggressive Car D arch and was emotionally and physically tired after the persistent chase by Alec. The sad result that she became pregnant as a consequence of this sexual liaison with d Urberville is a further suggestion that her cruel fate is all planned in advance by merciless gods. The institutionalised Christianity during the reign of Queen Victoria, meant that Tess was seen as an outcast. She had given birth to a bastard child an the rigid social attitudes of Victorian society meant she was frowned upon even though she took good care of the child and clearly loved it intensely. Tess then commits a blasphemous act when she baptises the infant and names it sorrow. It seems that the cruel and inflexible religious laws of the time would not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. John Maynard Keynes s Economic Theory And Policy After... At the start of the Great Depression, people in all affected countries believed that a free market based on supply and demand with no government control would deliver full employment. John Maynard Keynes came up with a theory as a counterargument: that aggregate demand is the single most powerful force in any economy. Keynes explains that free markets are not able to balance themselves out enough to lead to the full employment everyone was waiting for. The 1930s gave rise to Keynes ideas, especially after the publication of his revolutionary book The General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money in 1936. Keynesian economicsdominated economic theory and policy after World War II until the 1970s, when the issue of stagflation introduced itself to a disappointingly unprepared Keynes. (CITE JAHAN P.54) Keynes and His Theory John Maynard Keynes was a well known British economist, and is credited with the establishment of modern macroeconomics. One must remember that the concept of macroeconomics already existed, but Keynes addition includes a systematic approach to aggregate economic phenomena. (CITE SNOWDON/VANE P 13) While The General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money might be his most famous work, he also had two other important works released before it. The first was The Economic Consequences of the Peace in 1919, arguing that the Versailles Treaty would lead to another war in Europe. The second, released just six years before General Theory, was A ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the 18th century, theatre had played a significant role to society because it emphasized Rationalism (The Age of Reason), which began to lead away from the limitations of Neoclassicism. Then in the 19th century, theatrewas important because it introduced Melodrama or music dramato increasingly emphasize the emotions and personalities of the characters. And finally the 20th century, in which where it had transformed the whole ideology of what theatre was truly represented. One purpose of theatre during the 20th century was to emphasize realism. Realism had initially begun as an experiment to make theatre more impactful to society. It was a reaction against the 19th century s ideology of theatre, melodrama. It had soon become a well known innovation in mainstream theatre. Due to its common ideology, it had also caused adventurous innovations to aspire as well. The reason for emphasizing realism was for realistic artists to create an illusion of everyday life onstage. A similar movement to realism that changed the ideology of theatre was naturalism; a movement that had originally began in France in the 19th century and spread throughout Europe in the 20th century. • 40. Analysis Of Viva La Vida Many history aficionados are aware that, for several millennia, civilizations have flourished into gargantuan empires only to dwindle into corruption and ultimately meet their demise. Coldplay s critically acclaimed Viva La Vida embodies this very concept. The song was inspired by the Mexican phrase of the same name, meaning long live life. It provides a considerably deep narrative that involves a once esteemed monarch reminiscing about his golden age upon the throne, and detailing how his transition toward totalitarianism ultimately caused the citizens to seek retribution through a coup d Г©tat ( Viva La Vida). The song debuted in early May of 2008 and was initially exclusive to Apple s iTunes Store for nearly three months until Coldplayreleased a proper music video alongside a CD single at the end of July. Having been the best selling song on iTunes for the entirety of 2008, there is little doubt that it has reached a vast and diverse audience ( Viva La Vida ). A plethora of bands has written covers of Viva La Vida, attempting to convey similar themes to the ones that Coldplay established while applying their own musical expertise and twists to craft a fresh and interesting experience. To analyze the many contrasts present among these covers, this paper will scrutinize three approaches: Coldplay s original version, a variation performed by Future Idiots, and one presented by Sofia Karlberg. One person may value someone s outer and inner beauty differently than the next, therefore it is his or her decision whether someone is beautiful or not. But what if someone spent his or her life trying to alter the people s perceptions around them; what if someone spent his or her life manipulating the beholder s eyes to view that person as the precious diamond in a cave full of stones? Daisy also throws out some unexpected bursts of intellect in conversation, indicating a hidden brainpower beneath the charade. I m glad it s a girl. The night before, right after lying down to sleep, he heard it walking around but he didnВґt manage to see it. He felt his breath warming his surroundings as it tried to remain silent. It moved slowly expecting his guest to continue asleep; it did everything it could to observe without being observed but it failed. Anatoly packed up immediately and began the search. He had arrived in the country three months ago from the millennial land of the Tsars. He was marveled by the green gigantic mountains as he moved patiently towards his destination. He saw the people covered in dark long clothes with no collars or sleeves, but a single hole for their heads to pass through. He stared at the old houses made of mud and manure where more insects lived than people. Dogs wandered these lands trying to protect their owners from invisible enemies that dared to jump over the stone fences and cross their fields. Trees created a mattress of dramatic silence where spirits whispered their lost desires. He saw this and so much more and felt fascinated by the lost world that science had destroyed in his old continent. When he got off the bus in the first town, he asked around about the creature that had been seen six months ago by an expeditionary German group.
