The And Considerations Behind The Creation Of Our Group...
This essay will discuss the reasons, choices and considerations behind the creation of our group
newsletter, Manaakitanga. It will involve relevant theories to support my following reflective essay,
including research on document design and group dynamics.
The rationale of our Manaakitanga newsletter is for all members across the twenty one branches of
Hospitality New Zealand, informing them about new topics, and sharing the most recent and latest
news within Hospitality NZ (New Zealand) for the employees to read. Manaakitanga is an internal
newsletter for employees, sharing the changes, achievements, the news and events that have a broader
appeal, keeping the interest alive for the readers (Kent, 2011).
First of all the content of Manaakitanga involves an interview, Early morning starts on a winning
streak , secondly an article on What is coming up in the summer months , thirdly a spotlight story on
one of Christchurch s most popular restaurants, and last of all a story on New Zealand s drinking
culture and a calendar of events highlighting important up coming courses and events for employees
to attend to.
The interview featured on page four of Manaakitanga is significant to Hospitality NZ because as we
know the Rugby World Cup is occurring at the moment and The Sale and Supply of Alcohol
Amendment Act 2015 are allowing on license and club license holders to open outside of their normal
opening hours to screen live Rugby World Cup games. Many of the rugby games are

Heroes In Power Of Myth By Joseph Campbell
Heroes can be explained in many different ways. Heroes can be said to have specific features like
being ultimately stronger than everyone else, being able to use special powers to defeat their enemy,
or just being able to accomplish something that they themselves or other people thought that they
could never do. Through many years of studying different cultures and their historic myth, people are
able to come up with a theory on how many of the myths complete their heroic cycle.
Joseph Campbell has spent many years studying different cultures and their myths in order to find out
the true qualities of a hero. In the series Power of Myth where he sits down and talks about his
experiences with other cultures and different types of myth, he explains ... Show more content on

A hero can be at the burning house physically helping put out the fire, down the street putting their life
on the line to catch the convict, or in the closest church spreading the word of their religion and how it
has affect their life. Everywhere you go you can always find a hero nearby. The one that is like family
to me that I consider a hero is my elementary teacher. She is there for anyone at any time. Starting at a
young age, she was not always the best or brightest person around. She has told stories of the things
that she has done and the trouble that she and her friends use to cause. In her late teens she decided
this would not be the type of person that she wanted to be and decided to change the way that she was
behaving. She started going to church and found programs that helped her change her way. After a
while she started to reach out to her old friends and eventually got a few of them to change with her.
After a while of this she decided she needed to help more people and more families and not just the
friends and family that she knows best. She started to go to college and became a teacher that way
every year she could help out at least another twenty kids and their families. For the past 48 years she
has continuously helped out these families year after year. She has also reached out even farther and
has helped children out by being a foster parent. Almost every year she would be given a child or two
and has had to raise the kid for the year until someone was able to properly give them a home. Many
of these children had mental problems from being switched in and out of homes and once she got
them she was able to fully understand them and help them out tremendously, then after a couple
months they were able to find a permanent home where she would send them and then get her next
child. Time after time this was done and she has help more than a dozen children get through this and

Symbolic Observation Essay
1. How does the child show curiosity? Is the child showing interest in a new situation? Describe a time
when a child was curious. (2 points) He showed curiosity by staring at a child who was looking at the
toy cars. He shoes interest in the situation by looking very intrigued whenever the cars crash. He goes
back in forth from putting the toy cars in boxes and then crashing the toys together on the track.
2. When they are challenged some children will stay with an activity for a long time. Give an example
of the length of this child s attention span. (2 points) The child, at the most, stayed doing one activity
for five minutes and then switches. Although he changes what he does with the toy cars, he continues
to play with the same toys.
3. Watch and describe how the child participates in problem solving. Did the child learn by trial and
error or by another approach? Was the child supported by another child or an adult? (3 points) The
child, a first, was not able to stack blocks without them falling over. He saw other children stack the
boys in a neater way and managed to learn without and adult showing him.
4. Look for evidence of symbolic representation. Did the child use one object to represent another? (2
points) The child did not show, in his play, that some toys were symbols for other things. Symbolic
representation is when an object that represents, stands for, or suggests an idea, belief, action, or
material entity. An example would be a child using a banana as a

A Perfect Example Of Civic Hacking
A perfect example of civic hacking reveals itself in the NYC BigApps contest. NYC BigApps,
sponsored by the New York City Economic Development Commission, is designed to foster civic
hackers ideas to solve specific problems each year ( BigApps NYC 2015 ). For example, this year s
challenges were called Affordable Housing, Zero Waste, Connected Cities, and Civic Engagement.
Developers were challenged with the opportunity to program apps suited to help solve issues in New
York City related to those broad categories. Winners included an web application called JustFix.nyc,
which allowed tenants in New York apartments to connect and get issues in their building fixed much
faster and more reliably. Another winner, CityCharge, is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The site offers animations of the routes that have already been cleared and offers up to date maps. The
website is available to the public and provides ready access to a better way to navigate in hazardous
winter weather; it simply allows users to avoid streets that are unplowed and lets them examine
possible alternate routes. Without the efforts of civic hackers, citizens could be left stranded on
unplowed city streets. A third positive example of hacking is hacktivism. Though hacktivists have a
more subtle positive effect, they consistently bring controversial decisions and topics to light.
Hacktivists are hackers that use their talent to be activists that support a certain cause. Most are
politically motivated and believe that a person or organization has committed a wrongdoing. Their
strong beliefs drive them to commit hacks that seek revenge and wreak havoc upon daily lives;
numerous amounts of these attacks are on government agencies. This fact alone makes many people
dislike the act. However, despite being malicious in nature, it is not malicious to individual citizens
and often stimulates positive discussion and much needed change. Hacktivism can be used to further
popular ideas and make the public voice heard; it is a great way to broadcast ideas that would
otherwise be obscure and ensure that a level of justice is promoted among peers.

Examples Of Frankenstein Or The Modern Prometheus
In Frankenstein or, The Modern Prometheus , the author, Mary Shelley demonstrates the idea that a
creator, in this case, a scientist, is responsible for its creation in the sense that it s responsible for its
actions during its early stages of existence in the world. In the story and throughout several nonfiction
sources, authors show the concept that the creator is responsible for it s creation/product since it
creates a new type of responsibility towards the scientist him/herself, toward the product/creation, and
to the scientists family. Frankenstein was unable to demonstrate responsibility with these three, which
is the main reason why the creature became so aggressive and rageful. The reason for this was mainly
the fact that Doctor Frankenstein is selfish and only thinks of himself, and not of how his actions can
severely impact people around him. This concept is also demonstrated in our modern world through
how scientists today are being cautious with new inventions and products, such as CRISPR, which is a
system that scientists can use to modify human genomes. Scientists today are also making sure that
they are monitoring their inventions and making sure that they are responsible for whatever they are
doing.
Throughout Frankenstein , Mary Shelley demonstrates how a creator is responsible for its creation in
the sense that the scientist also becomes responsible for himself. In the story, as Dr. Frankenstein
begins his project, which was to create a creature out of

Tacitus And Nero Summary
Article title: Tacitus and Nero s Persecution of the Christians
In the age of Nero, Christian persecution occurred. Tacitus is the authority over the fire that affected
Christianity. Christian writers reasoned that Nero s victims were because of their faith. On the other
hand, pagan writers reasoned that Nero persecuted because of his mere incendiarism. Furthermore,
Nero and Tacitus were wickedly anti religion. Therefore, they started a devastating fire and arrested
confessing Christians. Another reason that people have presented is that Nero used Christians as
scapegoats, as examples, of his own incendiarism.

Paul had to present the Gospel to people of other faiths. These people were of other faiths because
during the Pax Romana, they encountered multiple religions. They were open to different beliefs and
thoughts. Plenty of individuals upheld certain beliefs. Therefore, when the early church evangelized,
they evangelized to people with different beliefs. However, these people were open as they were with
the religions during Pax Romana. Thus, they were willing to hear what Paul and the early church had
to say.

At the Council of Chalcedon in 451, church leaders condemned Monophysitism. Subsequently, a
major doctrinal development occurred. Particularly, these councils and the rejection of Monophysitism
affirmed the dual nature of Jesus Christ. Today, the doctrine that emerged from the Council of
Chalcedon is present in the belief systems of the Greek Orthodox, Roman Catholic, and Protestant
Churches. The Copts in Egypt, the Ethiopians, and the Armenians adopted the Monophysite. Because
certain groups did not adhere to the conclusion of the Council of Chalcedon in 451, a rift occurred

Theme Of Duality In Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde
Gothic novels tackle many aspects of the Victorian era which was between 1837 to 1901. Such aspects
were then translated into tropes of different gothic novels. Duality, Masculinity, Secrecy, Sexuality,
Mystery, Suspense, Rationalism Vs Irrationalism and Supernatural beings Vs Human Beings and
many more were all important tropes to their respective novels. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and
Mr. Hyde was one of the driving forces behind the trope of Duality, published in 1886 by Robert
Louis Stevenson. The book was written in the form of an Allegorical novel, which meant that the
novel had an extended metaphor. One of the main messages conveyed through the book was duality,
the idea of 2 separate entities residing in the same person. Good being their gentlemanly
characteristics while bad being the hidden dark pleasures. Hence, this essay will discuss the duality

Inventions And Inventions Of The United States
Imagine a time when the only way to get around was by riding a horse, or a time when the only way to
get in contact with someone was sending a letter, or a time when the only way to dig a hole was using
a shovel, during the mid 19th century young innovators, Alfred Nobel, Samuel Morse, and Thomas
Edison developed machines that made doing all that easier. Inventions and innovations like dynamite,
the railroads, and the telegraph helped the United States economy grow. Scientist developed, a railroad
that connected New York City to San Francisco, a telegraph that could send messages across long
distances within minutes, and dynamite which could blow up anything along its path. The United
States had a small, weak, economy, until the mid 1800s when inventions and innovations united and
strengthened the economy.
From the beginning of time, people have invented things and innovated to help expand their economy.
Gunpowder, the printing press, language, the wheel, pottery, post offices, and man made bridges are
all examples of inventions that led to economic growth. In 1800 prior to railroads, the only practical
way to travel and trade across long distances was along the nation s natural waterways (Metzner 1).
People could not work too far from home, travel , or even visit family that lived far away. Even
communication was a challenge, before the telegraph, telephone, typewriter, and phonograph,
spreading news throughout the world, or simply sending a family mail could take days or

An Essay On Argentina
Argentina is the largest Spanish speaking country located in southern South America that is filled with
43,761,541 people, with 39,608,040 native Spanish speakers (Argentina Population). Argentina is
bordered by Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay. Argentina is a Republic style Government

Argentina was founded on July 9, 1816 by locals who were settled in the area (Infoplease). Argentina
was ruled by Ferdinand VII and controlled the government from Buenos Aires, which is the capital of
Argentina (Gascoigne). The coat of arms for Argentina as stated by Haley Cohen of The Argentina
Independent, is two hands clasped around a pike topped by a mysterious red hat, and embroidered by
Ivy leaves and imposed over a rising sun. The meaning of the Coat of Arms represents little things that
all tie into one. The hands clasped together are a symbol of Unity, the sun represents the freedom
Argentina has over Spain, the red hat represents a Phrygian cap that was worn by the Ancient Romans
that stood for liberty, the pike in terms represents willingness to defend (Cohen). Argentina is teeming

eliminating or reducing bottlenecks. Secondly, I will focus on the performance measurements that
matter most when working toward the goal of making money. Lastly, I will work toward building a
strong team to work with in finding solutions to system or production issues. No matter the managerial
or supervisory career path I take, I will surely face bottlenecks along the way that will affect the

Aging Process The first article I chose to read was about grief, and how to cope with it. The loss of a
loved one cause s great stress can temporarily interfere with concentration, decision making, and work
performance. With enough support and help, grief can promote personal growth of all of those
involved in the process. According to this article, grief can be triggered by extreme isolation,
depression, or other additive behaviors. Other indicators that show one who is dealing with grief may
include quick replacement of the lost relationship or avoidance of any reminder of or imitation of the
deceased. Many people who experience these symptoms need some sort of intervention by health care

types of grief, and described the characteristics of them individually. The first article also discussed
the effects of a person who is not involved in care giving to their loved on who is terminally ill. I felt
that the second article talked more about the most basic type of grief in full detail. The second article,
as opposed to the first article, went into detail about the physical features that also accompany grief. I
also think that the second article talked about more broad concepts of grief, where as the first article
was more specific in its focus on grief. I really enjoyed the articles that I read. I aspire to become a

grief and loss counselors are very important in society; everyone at some point will lose someone they

Local Governments In Texas
In Texas local governments play a major role in the wellbeing and safety of its citizens. In each county
of Texas there are an average of about 19 general purpose governments, that means that all the county
general purpose local governments combined would be more than 4,800. In the United States of
America all but two states have governmental units known as counties or parishes. County
government is primarily a way of governing rural areas, because Texas is so vast, with huge areas that
are sparsely populated, county government remains an important aspect of local government. County
governments in rural areas do not actually have the ability to govern themselves, they act more as an

sheriff. Often times operating a county jail can be very expensive especially when the jail has a
capacity of 13 and there s is only one single inmate in the entire facility. Traditionally in Texas the
office of constable has been an elective office with limited duties. Some constables change their

Kosovo Humans

report on the Kosovo war. She was prompted to go there after she saw a specific image of thousands
of Kosovo citizens confused, lost and scared. She realized that these were human beings whose stories
needed to be told. Elaine faced a tough journey throughout her six weeks covering a major conflict.
The journey consisted of making ethical decisions everyday to tell the story of the Kosovo humans.
International reporting tends to be more dramatic especially in a warzone. Elaine said, Everywhere
you choose to look is an ethical decision. Every human she came across had an intense story to tell.
There are many ethical decisions to make when reporting in a warzone. Elaine stressed the fact that
the most important thing to remember is that you are a human being first. She said, When you are a

Big 5 Mass Extinction Events In Research
Throughout the lifetime of the Earth, there have been various scientists who have hypothesized
various extinction events. The following essay will cover the five major extinction events, otherwise
known as the Big 5 Mass Extinction Events . According to Wikipedia (2016), a mass extinction is a
widespread and rapid decrease in the amount of life on Earth. Such an event is identified by a sharp
change in the diversity and abundance of multicellular organisms .
The first major extinction event is said to have been the Ordovician Silurian mass extinction, 443
million years ago, which occurred during the end of the Ordovician period, and the start of the Silurian
period (bbc.co.uk, 2014). This is the third largest mass extinction in the Earth s history, and there were
two peak dying times during this period, separated my hundreds of thousands of years. The
Ordovician is characterised by sea life, so creatures such as brachiopods, graptolites and trilobite
populations were severely diminished. An ice age is said to be responsible for the death
(endangerdspeciesinternational.org, 2011).
The Late Devonian mass extinction is well known for having one of the most drastic extinction rates.

The Lamb By William Blake
The Lamb was written by the famous English writer William Blake. William Blake was an English
writer from London who had very strong Christian beliefs that influenced his writings. Many of Blake
s poems had to do with his beliefs and views of God and Jesus. He published two famous book called
Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experiences , where he describes life in the eyes of the innocent and
of the experienced. In 1789 Blake published The Lamb in Songs of Innocence. I was very pleased
when I first read The Lamb because it was an easy poem that just gives you a relaxing feeling. It also
relates to many of my personal views of God and his son Jesus Christ. A sonnet is a poem made of 14
lines, The Lamb is made of only 20 lines. The Lamb is organized into two stanzas. The first stanza
starts with Little Lamb, who made thee? and ends with Dost thou Know who made thee? . The second
stanza begins with Little Lamb, I ll tell thee and concludes with Little Lamb, God bless thee! . The
two stanzas are important because the first stanza asks a question about who created the lamb and in
the second stanza it give the response that God created the lamb. This poem does rhyme and has a
rhyme scheme of AA BB CC. AA is represented with thee and thee, BB is feed and mead, and CC is
delight and bright. William Blake often uses the pronoun thee and thou meaning you. By using the
word, thee and thy (you and your) it shows that Blake intended to write the poem in second point of
view.

CHAPTER 4 CELL ENCAPSULATION, STEM CELL THERAPY AND SCLERAL PLUG
THERAPY 4.1 CELL ENCAPSULATION
Encapsulated cell technology (ECT) is the therapeutic strategy for controlled, continuous, and long
term administration of proteins drugs in the eye.In a phase 1 trial, human ciliary neurotrophic factor
(CNTF) was delivered by retinal pigmented epithelial (RPE) cells transfected with the human CNTF
gene and sequestered within capsules that were surgically implanted into the vitreous of the eye.The
semipermeable outer membrane of the encapsulated cell implant allowed CNTF to reach the retina
and ,at the same time, sequestered the cells from the immune system. The trial indicated that CNTF was
safe for the human retina ,even one with severely compromised photoreceptors [91].
Advantages:
Long lasting and continuous expression of the given protein (avoiding repeated injections) without
genetic alteration of the host tissues
Delivery directly to the target site (limiting toxicity)

The Pros And Cons Of Eavesdropping
!!!What is Eavesdropping?
Eavesdropping as we know it in layman terms is the act of secretly listening to a conversation, private
or otherwise of which we are not actively a part. In computer security, the definition carries the same
meaning in digital terms. __Eavesdropping__ in computer security is defined as the unauthorized
interception of a conversation, communication or digital transmission in real time. The various forms
of communication include phone calls, emails, instant messages or any other internet service.
The activities of eavesdropping normally do not cause disruptions on the normal operation of the
systems being eavesdropped on. In reality if one is eavesdropping on a conversation you hardly want

The American Enlightenment Philosophy
The American Enlightenment Philosophy developed for a period of almost a century starting in mid
18th century and continued till the latter parts of the 19th century. This was the same era in which the
America gained independence and the nation was developing as a cohesive unit. It was on the rise and
the people wanted to leave a mark o the international scene. Just like we saw an Age of Enlightenment
in the European areas almost a 100 years back the same pattern was being followed and exhibited by
the people in this region. Since the major contingency of the people who had settled in the United
States were the descendants and the hybrids a number of different races and that is why they had a
fairly rich culture and their heritage directed them to be on the path to discovery. There were Brits,
Hispanics, Germans and French and similarly there were people who followed different religions and
levels and their faiths were different. So they were emerging as a new nation. A new force and they
had a lot to write home about. They had to prove something to the world and since most of the people
who were leading the nation were highly educated and the learned people were given their due
importance, it was realized well and truly in advance that the nation could only succeed if the new and
revamped philosophies were implemented. There were a number of different kinds of authors and they
felt that it had come upon them to deliver the best for the nation. They had to create awareness

Life Is The Way Life
Life is something that requires a lot of physical and mental exertion. Some are sufficiently lucky to
have everything arranged for them. For example, some are naturally introduced to cash; some run over
favorable luck yet most buckle down from the begin to get some place on the planet. It simply all
relies on upon how you were brought into this world. For a few individuals, life is brimming with
anxiety and hardships. That is the way life was for somebody dear to me Kimberly Domonique. She
had it troublesome from the beginning however, she picked not to give life a chance to get her down.
At the point when life gave her lemons, she made lemonade.
Kimberly is from the island of Haiti, she moved to the states at the age of ten years old. She lived in
Queens, New York with her step mother, she was enrolled in public school shortly after her arrival.
Going to school in America was difficult for her because she did not know how to speak nor
understand the English language. She told me that what was also hard for her was developing
friendships because there was no one like her that had her background. She moved out of Queens
because of the violence that was occurring between black Americans and foreigners. The problem was
that the foreigners used their methods of learning from their country and used it to their advantage
because education was not free for them like it is here in the states. So this allowed them to get good
grades and advance well, which made the black

Essay of Comparison between The Tiger and The Lamb, poems...
Essay of Comparison between The Tiger and The Lamb, poems by William Blake
The Tiger and The Lamb were poems by William Blake, a poet who lived in the 18th century. In this
essay I am going to compare the two poems and examine links between them relating to rhymes,
patterns and words used.
Blake s background relates on the poems he wrote, and many of his works reflected his early home
life. Blake in his childhood was an outcast, a loner, and didn t have many friends. His family believed
very strongly in God and were extremely pious Christians but did not agree with the teachings of the
church, so young William Blake often was made to think about God and his teachings during his
studies.
Because his parents were rebels ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Lamb the poem is mainly very well structured and flows. In the first verse it has the questions
and in the second verse it has all the answers. If you were only to look at the poem briefly you would
believe it was a children s poem, a hopscotch poem or playground chant, until you remember that
Blake could not have known these as he did not attend school. The reader would think this because of
the simple vocabulary, and also if you notice, the poem uses soft alliteration little lamb this gave a
much softer feel to the poem, obviously putting one in mind of children and their innocence.
Blake was a very holy and pious person. He often out biblical discourse into many of his poems, as I
have stated before. I found some plain biblical tones in The Lamb the next quotation shows this point.
He is meek, and he is mild . . . became a little child .
This quotation is from the New Testament, where God was forgiving, whereas in the Old Testament
God was believed to punish people for their sins i.e. Noah and the Ark, in which God drowns the
entire human race apart from Noah and his family. The fact that there is biblical content in The Lamb
is inspiring and was maybe meant to give a sense of hope. The lack of biblical discussion in The Tiger
gives the reader a sense of lack if reprieve, lack of hope and a sense of the
prison of the world and all

Developing Fluency Requires A Balance And Connection...
Developing fluency requires a balance and connection between conceptual understanding and
computation proficiency. Computational methods that are over practiced without understanding are
forgotten or remembered incorrectly. Understanding without fluency can inhibit the problem solving
process. (NCTM, Principles and Standards for School Mathematics, 2000). Adding It Up (National
Research Council, 2001), and influential research review on how children learn mathematics,
identifies the following five strands of mathematical proficiency as indicators that someone
understands (an can do) mathematics (Van de Walle, Lovin, Karp, Bay Williams, 2014, p. 2). The five
strands the National Research Council (2001) identified are: Conceptual understanding, procedural
fluency, strategic competence, adaptive reasoning, and productive disposition. These five strands are
interdependent and interwoven, as the development of one strand aids the development of the other
strands. Conceptual understanding is an important component of proficiency, along with factual
knowledge and procedural competence. O Connell SanGiovanni (2013) noted there are no tricks in
math and the understanding math makes it easier (p. 6). Setting up opportunities for students to
discover rules or generalizations allows them to exercise reasoning skills as they are making sense of
math concepts. Once students understand the process of multiplication they are ready to focus on the

Argumentative Essay About Blue Exorcist
Anime can be an amazing experience with the many different genres that it has created over the years
it s been around. But what is considered a good anime among fans and critics alike? That s a tricky
question since there are so many preferences for many different people, but everyone can agree on
these three things.
First off, an anime needs to have a good and interesting story to even be considered an okay one,
nonetheless good. Blue Exorcist is a good choice in this since it starts off with the main protagonist,
Rin Okumura, finding out he is the son of Satan after an attack from the Devil himself, and his hidden
powers are locked in a sacred sword that when unsheathed, makes him look more devilish with a tail
and illuminated horns, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Another necessary detail would be the relatable lead character with his quirks and personality being
what we love about them. Jojo s Bizarre Adventure is known for the many Jojos in the series. And the
best part is that that no Jojo is the same. Whether it be the chivalrous Jonathan Joestar, the
rambunctious Joseph Joestar, the punkish badass Jotaro Kujo, or the cool, collected Josuke

Symbols Of Death In Halloween
Symbols of death have been commonplace in western cultures since their inception. However, the way
in which these symbols are interpreted have gone through significant changes as the human
relationship to death has progressed. This relationship has been fundamentally shaped by interactions
with disease, war, and varying levels of technology, which influences the amount of death individuals
encounter throughout their lives. This intersectionality of causal factors, symbolism, and interpretation
of the human condition, is continually illustrated through different cultural means, especially art and
décor and holidays. In the post war to contemporary period, Death has been largely removed from
Western cultures, particularly North America and Europe, as technological advancements, and the
sanitization of the public gaze have occurred. However, an indirect relationship to death still persists
through cultural interactions with Halloween. Analysis of the spaces in which death is opening
described, visualized, and indirectly interacted, need to occur to create a larger understanding the roots
of western cultural practices, and to understand the problematic aspects of the spectacle of death
through commodification.
Within the historical trajectory of Halloween the connections to death and human mortality are
abundantly apparent. Though there are many examples of cultural practices or holidays that celebrate
or commemorate death globally, the origins of Halloween can be directly

How Did Jim Jones Influence On Communism
Jim Jones, a nobody to some and a crazy religious cult leader to others. Jim Jones was born on May
13th, 1931 and passed away on Novemeber 18th, 1978. Jones was an american cult and religious
leader, who was responsible for a mass murder/suicide of himself and his followers in Jonestown,
Guyana.
Jones belived deeply in communism. He belived that communism was the only correct way for social
order, in compliance with god s will. Communism exists when a society has all their property owned
publicly and every person is paid according to their abilities and things they need. Which even though
somewhat of a good though, communism is never and will never be a good political thought to act
upon. As a young kid jones heavily read on political figures such as Karl Marx and Joseph Stalin,
which is lead to believe where his thoughts on communism started out. Jim didnt make alot of friends
when he was younger, very much an outsider, which is where he went to books and religion. He was
described as a weird kid that was obsessed with religion and death . Jones had also stoof up for race
equality all his life. Pursuing acts of defiance towards social norms that placed whites higher than
blacks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Technology s Impact Of Technology And Its Impact On Business
The term technology means the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes mainly in an
industry. The term Innovation is the introduction of something new. When combining these two terms
together as one it is defined as an accord of new products and processes that hold significant
technological changes of products and processes. This is when an innovation has been implemented if
it has been introduced on the market. Technology has such a tremendous impact on today s society
because the pace of life has increased and without it that would not have been possible. Travel is fast,
action is quick, communication is rapid and movement is easy. Things in the era when there was no
technology took hours to complete maybe even days but now things can happen instantly. Technology
has made societies needs met at greater ease and our standard of living has increased. Not only has it
brought advancements in the industrial aspect it has also brought forth advancements in architecture,
engineering, agriculture and even businesses. This is significantly important because technology is
creating more job opportunities than ever before, allowing business to grow and gain more revenue.
What comes with the growth of business is the evolution of more precise research fields to better
things such as genetics, astronomy, health fields, transportation, tourism and the education system
which will allow the world to be a better place overall. If it wasn t for technology we wouldn t have

which covered the look and feel of the devices, and three utility patents, which covers the working of
the gadget. It listed more than 20 Samsung devices that infringed on Apple s patents.
3. Samsung s turn. Samsung counter sued Apple in June 2011, for infringing on its patents having to
do with wireless communications technology and camera phones. Samsung claimed the Apple could
not have sold a single iPhone without the benefits of Samsung s patented technology.
4. Strange bedfellows. Apart from being competitors, they share a very important business
relationship, Samsung is one of Apple s biggest suppliers for phone components.
5. Damages and FRAND. Apple seek $2.525 billion in damages. Samsung seeks $400 million in
royalty fees. As per Apple, Samsung asked for 2.4% of every iPhone or iPad sold to cover
infringement of its patents. Whereas Samsung hasn t asked any other users of the baseband chip to pay
any such amount. Which infringes the FRAND (Fair, Reasonable and Non Discriminatory) patent
licensing terms.
6. Claims. Apple worked to prove that Samsung s products are strikingly similar to the iPhone and

Stigma Is An Interesting Concept In Social Psychology Because
Stigma is an interesting concept in social psychology because it not only studies the experience of
marginalized people (who already do not receive enough attention in science) but dissects the inner
workings of power imbalances, internal dynamics, and interpersonal conflicts. Arguably the most
important foundational text in stigma research, across all disciplines, is Goffman s Notes on the
Management of Spoiled Identity. Goffman s perspective and definition of stigma has been revised
many times since its publication, but it remains one of the most influential works in the field. Goffman
suggests that stigma is an attribute which sets an individual apart from others in a negative way, which
leads to social outcasting or unacceptability. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Socially, stigmatized individuals are usually met with opposition from normal people there is a severe
lack of acceptance and alienation that result from stigma, and with these also comes discrimination.
Goffman notes that even within the first few minutes of a conversation, a normal person can find fault
in stigmatized individuals and entirely shift the tone of the encounter. However, Goffman makes sure
to note that stigmatization isn t always a bad thing. Outgroup perceptions and prejudice are definitely
detrimental, but stigmatized individuals are often able to form an identity around their stigma or at
least positively integrate it into their self concept. As a result, stigmatized people may be able to find
support in people with a similar stigma, and can also accept their blemishes. Some, Goffman says,
insist that their socially undesirable attributes are actually a blessing in disguise as it has changed their
world view or personality for the better. Other scholars have taken Goffman s work, which is truly a
foundational stigma text, and dissected and revised his conceptualization. For the purpose of this
paper, four articles by Link and Phelen (2001), Major, Kaiser and McCoy (2003), Chen and Bargh
(1997), and Scott (1997), will be discussed in the context of Goffman s work. These texts are
especially important because they all build on one another and consistently link back to prior
concepts. Each text is able to redesign the

The Waking Poem By Theodore Roethke
Through his life affirming poem, The Waking, Theodore Roethke explores the cycle of life using life
and death as metaphors to describe how we come to a more enlightened state of being. From a primary
reading of his poem The Waking, only a simple understanding of the poem is attainable, as Roethke
does not give his work a defined setting or subject. In addition, it seems that the poem is very
simplistic and does not require much attention to understand or interpret. However, upon revisiting the
poem multiple times, it can be inferred that Roethke intentionally uses various paradoxes and nature
imagery to symbolize aspects of life in order to help the reader understand his outlook on how to
endure life and in order to evoke and develop the theme of the cyclical pattern of life.
The title examines the transition from sleep to wakefulness as a state of mind that is representative of
both states yet very different from each. The definitive article, The, suggests a fixed and real thing;
meanwhile, the gerund Waking, hints towards a continuous process. From an initial reading, anyone
can see that Roethke repeats the same lines over and over again. However, the specific rhyme scheme
Roethke utilizes in addition to the repetitive lines is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

some natural phenomena occur, thus Roethke uses these symbols to enhance the enigmatic aspect of
his poem. He wants his audience to appreciate and accept the tree and its enigmatic nature rather than

Stephen Greenblatt s Essay Shakespeare And The Exorcists
In his essay Shakespeare and the Exorcists, Stephen Greenblatt argues that the exorcisms that
happened during the fifteen hundreds and early sixteen hundreds were nothing more than a
performance used by different religions to exercise power over the population. Greenblatt says that:
Exorcism has been a process of reintegration as well as a manifestation of authority; as the
ethnographer Shirokogorov observed of the shamans of Siberia, exorcists could master harmful spirits
and restore psychic equilibrium to whole communities as well as to individuals. (Greenblatt, 595)
In this sense, the power used by religion is the power of rhetoric. Pastors, priests, and so on, would
convince the population into not sinning by performing an exorcism. Scared by the condition of the
sinner being portrayed in the exorcism, the population would be afraid of committing sins themselves.
Greenblatt claims that, the significance of exorcism, then, lies not in any intrinsic quality of the ritual
or in the character of the marks of possession but in the impression made upon the minds of the
spectators (Greenblatt, 596). Therefore, as the population bought into this fantasy, hysteria would
happen, causing people to act as if they were possessed. Thus, he believed that if one eliminated ...

exorcism and Shakespearean plays as fantastical performances, Greenblatt is both elevating the Plays,
as well as degrading the idea of exorcism. Thus, by comparing exorcism to Shakespearean plays, he s

The Legacy Of The American Civil War
The American Civil War was the result of decades of sectional tensions between the North and South.
Over the next several months eleven southern states seceded and formed the Confederate States of
America. During the first two years of the war, Southern troops won numerous victories, but saw their
fortunes turned after losses at Gettysburg and Vicksburg in 1863. From then on, Northern forces
worked to conqueror the South, forcing them to surrender in April 1865.
The roots of the Civil War can be traced to increasing differences between the North and the South
and their growing divergence as the 19th century progressed. Among the issues were expansion of

Following the defeat at Bull Run, Major General George McClellan was given command of the new
Union Army of the Potomac. In early 1862, he shifted south to attack Richmond through the
Peninsula. Moving slowly, he was forced to retreat after the Seven Days Battles. This campaign saw
the rise of Confederate General Robert E. Lee. After beating a Union army at Manassas, Lee began to
move north into Maryland. McClellan was sent to intercept and won a victory at Antietam on the 17th.
Unhappy with McClellan s slow pursuit of Lee, Lincoln gave command to Major General Ambrose

Hooker. The following May, Lee engaged and defeated Hooker at Chancellorsville, VA.
In February 1862, forces under General Ulysses S. Grant captured Forts Henry Donelson. Two months
later he defeated a Confederate army at Shiloh, TN. On April 29, Union naval forces captured New

now focused his attention on capturing Vicksburg and opening the Mississippi River. After a false

This paper will analyze the affects that are harming the agricultural system in Kenya, Africa. There are
numerous problems that could be taken into account for the lack of production in Kenya s agricultural
system. This paper will highlight four main issues that harm the development of Kenya s agricultural
system. These four main problems are leading factors that destroys the growth of crops and the
success of harvest seasons. The first main point that will be analyzed in this paper is climate change
which is the leading cause of bad crop seasons in Kenya. The next variable to be analyzed is the lack
of infrastructure in Kenya s geographical makeup. The third variable to be analyzed on the failure of
Kenya s agricultural system is pesticides and disease. The finally elements that leads to the harm on
crop production in Kenya is soil nutrient deterioration. These are just a few of the cause that harms the
development of Kenya Africa s agricultural system.
On the one hand, some people know the weather in Africa is that of a pretty dry climate. This is a bad

  • 2. The And Considerations Behind The Creation Of Our Group... This essay will discuss the reasons, choices and considerations behind the creation of our group newsletter, Manaakitanga. It will involve relevant theories to support my following reflective essay, including research on document design and group dynamics. The rationale of our Manaakitanga newsletter is for all members across the twenty one branches of Hospitality New Zealand, informing them about new topics, and sharing the most recent and latest news within Hospitality NZ (New Zealand) for the employees to read. Manaakitanga is an internal newsletter for employees, sharing the changes, achievements, the news and events that have a broader appeal, keeping the interest alive for the readers (Kent, 2011). First of all the content of Manaakitanga involves an interview, Early morning starts on a winning streak , secondly an article on What is coming up in the summer months , thirdly a spotlight story on one of Christchurch s most popular restaurants, and last of all a story on New Zealand s drinking culture and a calendar of events highlighting important up coming courses and events for employees to attend to. The interview featured on page four of Manaakitanga is significant to Hospitality NZ because as we know the Rugby World Cup is occurring at the moment and The Sale and Supply of Alcohol Amendment Act 2015 are allowing on license and club license holders to open outside of their normal opening hours to screen live Rugby World Cup games. Many of the rugby games are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Heroes In Power Of Myth By Joseph Campbell Heroes can be explained in many different ways. Heroes can be said to have specific features like being ultimately stronger than everyone else, being able to use special powers to defeat their enemy, or just being able to accomplish something that they themselves or other people thought that they could never do. Through many years of studying different cultures and their historic myth, people are able to come up with a theory on how many of the myths complete their heroic cycle. Joseph Campbell has spent many years studying different cultures and their myths in order to find out the true qualities of a hero. In the series Power of Myth where he sits down and talks about his experiences with other cultures and different types of myth, he explains ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A hero can be at the burning house physically helping put out the fire, down the street putting their life on the line to catch the convict, or in the closest church spreading the word of their religion and how it has affect their life. Everywhere you go you can always find a hero nearby. The one that is like family to me that I consider a hero is my elementary teacher. She is there for anyone at any time. Starting at a young age, she was not always the best or brightest person around. She has told stories of the things that she has done and the trouble that she and her friends use to cause. In her late teens she decided this would not be the type of person that she wanted to be and decided to change the way that she was behaving. She started going to church and found programs that helped her change her way. After a while she started to reach out to her old friends and eventually got a few of them to change with her. After a while of this she decided she needed to help more people and more families and not just the friends and family that she knows best. She started to go to college and became a teacher that way every year she could help out at least another twenty kids and their families. For the past 48 years she has continuously helped out these families year after year. She has also reached out even farther and has helped children out by being a foster parent. Almost every year she would be given a child or two and has had to raise the kid for the year until someone was able to properly give them a home. Many of these children had mental problems from being switched in and out of homes and once she got them she was able to fully understand them and help them out tremendously, then after a couple months they were able to find a permanent home where she would send them and then get her next child. Time after time this was done and she has help more than a dozen children get through this and at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Symbolic Observation Essay 1. How does the child show curiosity? Is the child showing interest in a new situation? Describe a time when a child was curious. (2 points) He showed curiosity by staring at a child who was looking at the toy cars. He shoes interest in the situation by looking very intrigued whenever the cars crash. He goes back in forth from putting the toy cars in boxes and then crashing the toys together on the track. 2. When they are challenged some children will stay with an activity for a long time. Give an example of the length of this child s attention span. (2 points) The child, at the most, stayed doing one activity for five minutes and then switches. Although he changes what he does with the toy cars, he continues to play with the same toys. 3. Watch and describe how the child participates in problem solving. Did the child learn by trial and error or by another approach? Was the child supported by another child or an adult? (3 points) The child, a first, was not able to stack blocks without them falling over. He saw other children stack the boys in a neater way and managed to learn without and adult showing him. 4. Look for evidence of symbolic representation. Did the child use one object to represent another? (2 points) The child did not show, in his play, that some toys were symbols for other things. Symbolic representation is when an object that represents, stands for, or suggests an idea, belief, action, or material entity. An example would be a child using a banana as a ... • 5. A Perfect Example Of Civic Hacking A perfect example of civic hacking reveals itself in the NYC BigApps contest. NYC BigApps, sponsored by the New York City Economic Development Commission, is designed to foster civic hackers ideas to solve specific problems each year ( BigApps NYC 2015 ). For example, this year s challenges were called Affordable Housing, Zero Waste, Connected Cities, and Civic Engagement. Developers were challenged with the opportunity to program apps suited to help solve issues in New York City related to those broad categories. Winners included an web application called JustFix.nyc, which allowed tenants in New York apartments to connect and get issues in their building fixed much faster and more reliably. Another winner, CityCharge, is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The site offers animations of the routes that have already been cleared and offers up to date maps. The website is available to the public and provides ready access to a better way to navigate in hazardous winter weather; it simply allows users to avoid streets that are unplowed and lets them examine possible alternate routes. Without the efforts of civic hackers, citizens could be left stranded on unplowed city streets. A third positive example of hacking is hacktivism. Though hacktivists have a more subtle positive effect, they consistently bring controversial decisions and topics to light. Hacktivists are hackers that use their talent to be activists that support a certain cause. Most are politically motivated and believe that a person or organization has committed a wrongdoing. Their strong beliefs drive them to commit hacks that seek revenge and wreak havoc upon daily lives; numerous amounts of these attacks are on government agencies. This fact alone makes many people dislike the act. However, despite being malicious in nature, it is not malicious to individual citizens and often stimulates positive discussion and much needed change. Hacktivism can be used to further popular ideas and make the public voice heard; it is a great way to broadcast ideas that would otherwise be obscure and ensure that a level of justice is promoted among peers. ... • 6. Examples Of Frankenstein Or The Modern Prometheus In Frankenstein or, The Modern Prometheus , the author, Mary Shelley demonstrates the idea that a creator, in this case, a scientist, is responsible for its creation in the sense that it s responsible for its actions during its early stages of existence in the world. In the story and throughout several nonfiction sources, authors show the concept that the creator is responsible for it s creation/product since it creates a new type of responsibility towards the scientist him/herself, toward the product/creation, and to the scientists family. Frankenstein was unable to demonstrate responsibility with these three, which is the main reason why the creature became so aggressive and rageful. The reason for this was mainly the fact that Doctor Frankenstein is selfish and only thinks of himself, and not of how his actions can severely impact people around him. This concept is also demonstrated in our modern world through how scientists today are being cautious with new inventions and products, such as CRISPR, which is a system that scientists can use to modify human genomes. Scientists today are also making sure that they are monitoring their inventions and making sure that they are responsible for whatever they are doing. Throughout Frankenstein , Mary Shelley demonstrates how a creator is responsible for its creation in the sense that the scientist also becomes responsible for himself. In the story, as Dr. Frankenstein begins his project, which was to create a creature out of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Tacitus is the authority over the fire that affected Christianity. Christian writers reasoned that Nero s victims were because of their faith. On the other hand, pagan writers reasoned that Nero persecuted because of his mere incendiarism. Furthermore, Nero and Tacitus were wickedly anti religion. Therefore, they started a devastating fire and arrested confessing Christians. Another reason that people have presented is that Nero used Christians as scapegoats, as examples, of his own incendiarism. Bibliography Clayton, F. W. Inventions And Inventions Of The United States Imagine a time when the only way to get around was by riding a horse, or a time when the only way to get in contact with someone was sending a letter, or a time when the only way to dig a hole was using a shovel, during the mid 19th century young innovators, Alfred Nobel, Samuel Morse, and Thomas Edison developed machines that made doing all that easier. Inventions and innovations like dynamite, the railroads, and the telegraph helped the United States economy grow. Scientist developed, a railroad that connected New York City to San Francisco, a telegraph that could send messages across long distances within minutes, and dynamite which could blow up anything along its path. The United States had a small, weak, economy, until the mid 1800s when inventions and innovations united and strengthened the economy. From the beginning of time, people have invented things and innovated to help expand their economy. Gunpowder, the printing press, language, the wheel, pottery, post offices, and man made bridges are all examples of inventions that led to economic growth. In 1800 prior to railroads, the only practical way to travel and trade across long distances was along the nation s natural waterways (Metzner 1). According to Wikipedia (2016), a mass extinction is a widespread and rapid decrease in the amount of life on Earth. The first major extinction event is said to have been the Ordovician Silurian mass extinction, 443 million years ago, which occurred during the end of the Ordovician period, and the start of the Silurian period (bbc.co.uk, 2014). William Blake was an English writer from London who had very strong Christian beliefs that influenced his writings. Many of Blake s poems had to do with his beliefs and views of God and Jesus. He published two famous book called Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experiences , where he describes life in the eyes of the innocent and of the experienced. In 1789 Blake published The Lamb in Songs of Innocence. I was very pleased when I first read The Lamb because it was an easy poem that just gives you a relaxing feeling. It also relates to many of my personal views of God and his son Jesus Christ. A sonnet is a poem made of 14 lines, The Lamb is made of only 20 lines. The Lamb is organized into two stanzas. The first stanza starts with Little Lamb, who made thee? and ends with Dost thou Know who made thee? . The second stanza begins with Little Lamb, I ll tell thee and concludes with Little Lamb, God bless thee! . The two stanzas are important because the first stanza asks a question about who created the lamb and in the second stanza it give the response that God created the lamb. This poem does rhyme and has a rhyme scheme of AA BB CC. AA is represented with thee and thee, BB is feed and mead, and CC is delight and bright. William Blake often uses the pronoun thee and thou meaning you. By using the word, thee and thy (you and your) it shows that Blake intended to write the poem in second point of view. ... The reader would think this because of the simple vocabulary, and also if you notice, the poem uses soft alliteration little lamb this gave a much softer feel to the poem, obviously putting one in mind of children and their innocence. Blake was a very holy and pious person. He often out biblical discourse into many of his poems, as I have stated before. Computational methods that are over practiced without understanding are forgotten or remembered incorrectly. Understanding without fluency can inhibit the problem solving process. (NCTM, Principles and Standards for School Mathematics, 2000). Adding It Up (National Research Council, 2001), and influential research review on how children learn mathematics, identifies the following five strands of mathematical proficiency as indicators that someone understands (an can do) mathematics (Van de Walle, Lovin, Karp, Bay Williams, 2014, p. 2). However, the way in which these symbols are interpreted have gone through significant changes as the human relationship to death has progressed. This relationship has been fundamentally shaped by interactions with disease, war, and varying levels of technology, which influences the amount of death individuals encounter throughout their lives. This intersectionality of causal factors, symbolism, and interpretation of the human condition, is continually illustrated through different cultural means, especially art and décor and holidays. In the post war to contemporary period, Death has been largely removed from Western cultures, particularly North America and Europe, as technological advancements, and the sanitization of the public gaze have occurred. However, an indirect relationship to death still persists through cultural interactions with Halloween. Analysis of the spaces in which death is opening described, visualized, and indirectly interacted, need to occur to create a larger understanding the roots of western cultural practices, and to understand the problematic aspects of the spectacle of death through commodification. Within the historical trajectory of Halloween the connections to death and human mortality are abundantly apparent. Though there are many examples of cultural practices or holidays that celebrate or commemorate death globally, the origins of Halloween can be directly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 34. Stigma Is An Interesting Concept In Social Psychology Because Stigma is an interesting concept in social psychology because it not only studies the experience of marginalized people (who already do not receive enough attention in science) but dissects the inner workings of power imbalances, internal dynamics, and interpersonal conflicts. Arguably the most important foundational text in stigma research, across all disciplines, is Goffman s Notes on the Management of Spoiled Identity. Goffman s perspective and definition of stigma has been revised many times since its publication, but it remains one of the most influential works in the field. Goffman suggests that stigma is an attribute which sets an individual apart from others in a negative way, which leads to social outcasting or unacceptability. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Socially, stigmatized individuals are usually met with opposition from normal people there is a severe lack of acceptance and alienation that result from stigma, and with these also comes discrimination. Goffman notes that even within the first few minutes of a conversation, a normal person can find fault in stigmatized individuals and entirely shift the tone of the encounter. However, Goffman makes sure to note that stigmatization isn t always a bad thing. Outgroup perceptions and prejudice are definitely detrimental, but stigmatized individuals are often able to form an identity around their stigma or at least positively integrate it into their self concept. As a result, stigmatized people may be able to find support in people with a similar stigma, and can also accept their blemishes. Some, Goffman says, insist that their socially undesirable attributes are actually a blessing in disguise as it has changed their world view or personality for the better. Other scholars have taken Goffman s work, which is truly a foundational stigma text, and dissected and revised his conceptualization. For the purpose of this paper, four articles by Link and Phelen (2001), Major, Kaiser and McCoy (2003), Chen and Bargh (1997), and Scott (1997), will be discussed in the context of Goffman s work. These texts are especially important because they all build on one another and consistently link back to prior concepts. Each text is able to redesign the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 36. The Waking Poem By Theodore Roethke Through his life affirming poem, The Waking, Theodore Roethke explores the cycle of life using life and death as metaphors to describe how we come to a more enlightened state of being. From a primary reading of his poem The Waking, only a simple understanding of the poem is attainable, as Roethke does not give his work a defined setting or subject. In addition, it seems that the poem is very simplistic and does not require much attention to understand or interpret. However, upon revisiting the poem multiple times, it can be inferred that Roethke intentionally uses various paradoxes and nature imagery to symbolize aspects of life in order to help the reader understand his outlook on how to endure life and in order to evoke and develop the theme of the cyclical pattern of life. The title examines the transition from sleep to wakefulness as a state of mind that is representative of both states yet very different from each. The definitive article, The, suggests a fixed and real thing; meanwhile, the gerund Waking, hints towards a continuous process. From an initial reading, anyone can see that Roethke repeats the same lines over and over again. However, the specific rhyme scheme Roethke utilizes in addition to the repetitive lines is ... • 37. Stephen Greenblatt s Essay Shakespeare And The Exorcists In his essay Shakespeare and the Exorcists, Stephen Greenblatt argues that the exorcisms that happened during the fifteen hundreds and early sixteen hundreds were nothing more than a performance used by different religions to exercise power over the population. Greenblatt says that: Exorcism has been a process of reintegration as well as a manifestation of authority; as the ethnographer Shirokogorov observed of the shamans of Siberia, exorcists could master harmful spirits and restore psychic equilibrium to whole communities as well as to individuals. (Greenblatt, 595) In this sense, the power used by religion is the power of rhetoric. Pastors, priests, and so on, would convince the population into not sinning by performing an exorcism. Scared by the condition of the sinner being portrayed in the exorcism, the population would be afraid of committing sins themselves. Greenblatt claims that, the significance of exorcism, then, lies not in any intrinsic quality of the ritual or in the character of the marks of possession but in the impression made upon the minds of the spectators (Greenblatt, 596). Therefore, as the population bought into this fantasy, hysteria would happen, causing people to act as if they were possessed. Thus, he believed that if one eliminated ...
