Analysis Of The Heartbeat Of Racism Is Denial By Kendi
Personal Response Essay The New York Times article The Heartbeat of Racism is Denial written by
Ibram X. Kendi explains his views on racism in America. Kendi informs the reader that President
Trump is unifying Americans in their denial. I agree that the media ignores racism, a point that needs
to be addressed. In the article Kendi states, The more racist Mr. Trump sounds, the more Trump
country denies his racism, and the more his opponents look away from their own racism to brand
Trump country as racist. Many people assume that the media provides them with all the important
information but the American media usually avodes the important race issues. The media ignores the
county s past race issues with former presidents saying racist remarks while in the Oval office. The
media uses racist phrases in the news without thinking twice. America s media coverage encourages
the denial of racism by overlooking racist remarks. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Trump made hateful comments and opened his candidacy with racism by referring to Mexicans as
criminals and rapists. Kendi states, Denial is how America defends itself as superior to shithole
countries in Africa and elsewhere, as President Trump reportedly described them in a White House
meeting last week. The American media did not bring attention to Trumps comment while CNN states,
South Africa issued a diplomatic protest to the United States Monday over President Donald Trump s
shithole countries comments, according to its foreign ministry. Americans deny Trumps comments
that affects the way the rest of the world looks at Americans. But this is not the first time the American
media ignored the president s racist comments, racism has been an issue in the White House

Eu Union Of The European Union Essay
On Thursday, June 23rd, in a history making vote, the people of the United Kingdom decided to leave
the European Union, hopefully providing flexibility on a range of issues. For those who back the exit
from the EU, the claim is Britain, among other things, will have better business regulations,
immigration control, and trade agreements. Ultimately, those in favor of leaving the EU, are seeking
an economic and policy independence.

The European Union is a union of 28 nations who have relinquished part of their sovereignty to EU
institutions such as the European Parliament, European Council, and European Central Bank. Formed
in 1993, the EU sought to further improve members economies and establish European free trade. In a
deeper effort to unite, the EU also has an official currency that can be used throughout Europe. The
currency, called the Euro, is used in 19 of the EU member states which make up the Eurozone. This
currency assists in easier spending as it compliments the single market established by the Union.

Ophelia and Hamlet in The Tragedy of Hamlet Essay
Ophelia and Hamlet
In 1600, William Shakespeare composed what is considered the greatest tragedy of all time, Hamlet,
the tragedy of the Prince of Denmark. His masterpiece forever redefined what tragedy should be.
Critics have analyzed it word for word for nearly four hundred years, with each generation
appreciating Hamlet in its own way. While Hamlet conforms, without a doubt, to Aristotle s definition
of a tragedy, one question still lingers. Did Shakespeare intend for the reader or viewer of Hamlet to
feel greater sympathy for Hamlet, or for Ophelia, Hamlet s lover? Both characters tug at the
heartstrings throughout the play, but it is clear that the tragedy of the Prince of Denmark is a
misrepresentation of Shakespeare s true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It seems clear that Ophelia, in her madness, knows what others may be. She has become enlightened
in her insanity. Unfortunately, because of her suicide, Ophelia is never given the chance to know what
she herself might have been. Clearly though, Ophelia does change greatly from act 1 to act 4. She
transforms from a simple and innocent young girl into a mad, unsettled and knowing woman. What
brings on these changes in Ophelia? One significant cause is the aforementioned attempted education
by Ophelia s brother, Laertes.
When Laertes gives his brotherly advise to Ophelia, in act 1, scene 3, he speaks of more that just
Hamlet s love for Ophelia. Laertes warns Ophelia that Hamlet is toying with her affection in lines 14
18:
... Perhaps he loves you now,
And now no soil nor cautel doth besmirch
The virtue of his will, but you must fear,
His greatness weighed, his will is not his own,
or he himself is subject to his birth. (1.3.14 18)
According to Laertes, Hamlet could not possibly love Ophelia because his is a prince and Ophelia a
mere maid. Hamlet is bound by his regency to love and marry a princess of equal rank and stature. In
lines 30 33, Laertes preaches the importance of Ophelia s chastity:
If with too credent ear you list his songs,
Or lose your heart, or your chaste treasure open
To his unmustered importunity.
Fear it, Ophelia, fear it, my dear

Analysis Of I Was A Puerto Rican, By Esmeralda Santiago
Question 1 Foreshadowing
I push my cart away, toward the apples and pears of my adulthood, their nearly seedless ripeness
predictable and bittersweet. This quote, and entire prologue, are taken from the memoir When I was a
Puerto Rican, by Esmeralda Santiago and they foreshadow that her whole life is changed, just like the
fruit she eats and that are in her life. Santiago life is totally turned around in this memoir and the
prologue shows that. The author weaves foreshadowing into the memoir by showing us how her life
changed dramatically and once she came to the United States everything was different, just like fruit
here in the United States and in Puerto Rico. The author uses the technique of foreshadowing to give
something to look forward to in her story and build suspense and anticipation.
Santiago used foreshadowing to show that her life changed and that it changed a lot. Her life is
foreshadowed that it will change and that she lets her past go. Leaving her past in the past and moving
on with her present and future. Santiago s life was horrible growing up. Her parents did not always get
along, their home was not always safe, clean, and good for her and her family, they were always
moving, etc. After they moved to New York, a couple years later, her life was changed. She was
offered an acting role and then later on went to Harvard with a scholarship. As you can see, she left
her past in the past and went on with her amazing new life. When I was a Puerto

Abuse Of Power In Game Of Thrones
This episode did not disappoint sleazy scheming, sibling in fighting, death by burning, and the ever
present abuse of power. Basically, everything you could ever want from Game of Thrones (we don t
watch this show for the culture). The ways one can abuse power in the upper echelons of Westeros
society is amazing, but these fine folks are sticking with the classics in this season s opener: misuse of
position and Crown resources.
Cersei gets her abuse on early. Like way early, as in 20 years ago early. GoT gets its first flashback
and it turns out little Cersei is just as bratty and entitled as big Cersei. Little Cersei wants a creepy

The Wiggles as a Popular Culture Essay
The Wiggles are a children s music and entertainment group consisting of four members who formed
in Sydney in 1991. The original members were Anthony Field, Murray Cook, Greg Page and Jeff Fatt.
Before the formation of the group, Field and Fatt were members of the Australian pop band The
Cockroaches with Page being a roadie, and met Cook at Macquarie University where they were
studying to become pre school teachers. Together, they formed The Wiggles. Using connections
gained from The Cockroaches, The Wiggles first manager Jeremy Fabinyi negotiated with the ABC to
air The Wiggles TV show. This program essentially promoted their first album and tour, launching The
Wiggles careers.

This therefore has a positive effect on the young individual in the present as well as the future, as well
as The Wiggles being viewed in a positive manner by consumers and members of society because of
this influence on children.
The Wiggles are so successful because of their positive influence on children s lives and the
satisfaction that adults receive from being aware of the educational value behind the program. This
can be obviously demonstrated through the long running creative programs aired on television with
such popularity that The Wiggles have become known around the world. This has made them an
international franchise and allowed the company to expand into other associated products and
programs such as live performance shows and recorded albums.
The products of this popular culture are aimed at a specific target market. Primary consumers of The
Wiggles are young children but the major purchasers of associated products and paraphernalia are the
children s parents and adults.
There is no divide in the consumption of this popular culture s associated products in relation to
gender, although the group previously consisted of four males, as well as many of the associated
characters being male. This recently changed in 2012 when a female Wiggle was introduced, creating
a more female friendly show, which may appeal to young girls more so than before, therefore giving
The Wiggles the opportunity to expand their market

Pretty Wom An American Romantic Comedy
Pretty Woman is an American romantic comedy produced in 1990 by Touchstone Pictures. In the film,
Vivian Ward, one of the central characters, works as a prostitute in Los Angeles, California. Edward
Lewis, a rich, businessman hires Vivian as an escort for a weeklong period, to serve as his date to
various functions and events. And over the course of the week, a relationship between the two
matures. Seeing that it focuses on the way in which a well to do, handsome man saves and transforms
a pitiable prostitute into a beautiful woman with class and style, the movie is considered a modern day
Cinderella story. Although the film has all of the elements to be considered a wonderful love story,
several issues can be identified and critiqued, particularly those dealing with the portrayal of gender
and sexual scripts.
Gender is defined as the state of being male or female. Gender consists of the assortment of mental
traits that differ between the sexes; thus, gender scripts are the behavior expectations given to males
and females. The characters in the movies either feed into or go against gender scripts. Case in point,
Edward is a wealthy businessman, and for that reason, his character feeds into the gender script of
men being breadwinners and guiders in patriarchal societies. For instance, Edward is displayed as a
savior, a hero of some sort, due to the fact that he takes Vivian off the streets, hires her, and transforms
her into a well rounded, respectable woman. Edward is also

The Age Of Responsibility Alan Greenblatt Summary
Is there really a certain age of responsibility? Maturity doesn t come with age, it comes with
acceptance of responsibility. In the article What is the age of Responsibility? by Alan Greenblatt, he
explains how the age of responsibility should be 16 because maybe if teens start being responsible at
an earlier age, they ll be more aware of demands of adult life. Many argue that the age of
responsibility should be 21 and over, but in the article What id the age of Responsibility? by Alan
Greenblatt issues that Most states issue driver s licenses to persons as young as 16 years old , and
many are considering lowering the drinking age from 21, argue that if students were given the right to

common for 18 year olds to support themselves and start their own families, own distinctive stage of

The Hazardous Radioactive Nuclear Waste Stockpiles, Created
The hazardous radioactive nuclear waste stockpiles, created over several decades due to the expansion
of nuclear industry in the domains of power generation, science, industry, military and medical fields,
is an intensified global concern today. There are several categories of nuclear waste and the most
unfavorable are the intermediate level and the high level nuclear leftovers because of their
radioactivity (International Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA) 2013, p.9). The majority of this highly
radioactive waste is produced in nuclear power generation as spent fuel in nuclear reactors. According

As a solution to the above problems faced by the countries, the multinational nuclear waste repository
concept was emerged where one country (host country) will implement a deep geological repository
and the remaining countries (clients) can sell off their radioactive waste to the host country for the
deep geological bury. South Australian government appointed the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Royal
Commission on 15th March 2015, to evaluate the potentials available for South Australia in the
Nuclear Fuel cycle. In May 2016 the commission submitted their report indicating the viability and the
economic benefits, South Australia will gain by hosting an international geological disposal facility
for high level and intermediate level waste. The proposed scheme is an amalgamation of aboveground
temporary storage and an underground permanent repository. At year 11of the project, the customers
will deliver nuclear waste in Dry casks and the transferring of this waste to permanent repository will

The Problem Of The Disabled People
I am exploring the disabled people are not discriminate against, and how they get respect from people.
People cannot ignore the problem of the disabled people because it is not only about the disabled
people, but also about people. The problem of the disabled people will influence the development of
the country, so it also influence people s life. Discriminating against the disabled people is not good
for the country s development. Nowadays, people more and more care about the disabled people
because when they watch a movie about the disabled people, the audience will think about the
problem of the disabled people in reality. In many countries, the policy and system for protecting the
disabled people are not perfect. In reality, people still see the disabled people homeless sleep in the
street, so it means that the government should make some policy to help the disabled people, and solve
the problem. The disabled people need people s respect because sometimes they are fragile and have
weak self confidence. If people do not look at the disabled people in the surprise and different way, the
disabled people will feel more comfortable. Elimination of discrimination will changes attitude of the
disabled people, so they will think in the positive way. At the same time, people should think about
how they treat the disabled people, what else they can do for the disabled people. Everyone knows that
the disabled people need help from society, but seldom people will exactly know how to

This type of legislation provides a framework whereas an application can be made to further detain a
prisoner who is due to release as they are deemed to be an unacceptable risk of further offending and
their further detention will protect the community (Field, 2003).
Whilst it is generally accepted that the community broadly welcomes such imposing and punitive
legislation, it is imperative that our disgust for these offences/offenders does not prevent us from
finding the injustice on an ethical and moral basis (Wortley and Smallbone, 2003).
One of the fundamental principles of the Criminal Law System is the presumption of innocence until

has been said that it is removing this Common law right from the individual (Greig, 1995). It has also

Definition Of Humor
What is the definition of humor? That is the question psychologist and philosophers are trying to
define. Humor seems to be in a vague category that no one seems to have a simple explanation for. It
is a mystery and can be defined as a variety of different definitions and can go in a variety of different
directions. Many scientists have only recently studied humor as a topic and they have stated that
humor was defined as a taboo or trivial systematic inquiry. ( Harre and Lamb). Humor has been
around since the Greek times but it was never a concrete topic. It has always seemed abstract, but in
the last 100 years behavioral scientist has been trying to dig deep into the word and try to give it a
definition. Everyone s sense of humor varies and can be different in everyone. Some may have a dry
sense of humor, sarcastic sense of humor, a dark sense of humor and others might laugh at everything

Comparing Dangerous Liaisons by Choderlos de Laclos and Cruel Intentions the Movie
It is my intention to compare the book, Dangerous Liaisons by Choderlos de Laclos, to its modern
movie version, Cruel Intentions starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. I intend to examine how the original
French text was modified in reference to plot, character, morals/values, and themes. I also plan to
discuss how these transformations change the meaning of the story and reflect different
cultural/historical contexts. There are some major differences between these two works, if only
because of when they were written. First, the plots of both works need to be discussed and explained
how they are different. The stories of both works have basically the same ... Show more content on

Cecile directly gets revenge on Catherine. In Dangerous Liaisons, she does not. This also relates to
cultural context. It shows how more independent women are in the modern world. In Dangerous
Liaisons, Tourvel dies of misery and Cecile goes into the convent. This shows that women were much
weaker and less independent in society in the late 1700s. The last scene in the movie shows Annette
driving off in Sebastian s expensive car. This is a typical ending to a modern story. In the book, her
character dies, but in the movie, she is the vengeful, independent woman. It is apparent that the morals
and values of both works change because of their cultural and historical context. Dangerous Liaisons
was basically written to teach young women in society what not to do. This kind of literature was
looked down upon at the time it was written.
In 1824 a decree of the cour royale de Paris condemned it to be destroyed as dangerous . This verdict
remained the official one throughout the later nineteenth century. The book was spoken of only to be
deplored: a picture of the most odious immortality, that should never have been revealed even
supposing it had been true , a work of revolting immorality , a book to be admired and execrated .
(Laclos, p. 7)
It was considered to be an immoral book. The movie was made mainly for entertainment purposes.
Since we basically live in an immoral society, it was well accepted as a good movie. Although the

recommendations for fat, protein and carb consumption, and getting enough of all the important
nutrients.
Easy to Follow
No other diet outperformed Weight Watchers on this measure. Why? You ll get enough to eat, you don

lead to higher compliance.
SAFETY
Weight Watchers got high points for being safe. Dieters don t have to worry about health problems
such as not getting enough key nutrients or losing weight too quickly. No indications of serious side
effects have surfaced, and the program is good for almost everyone.
Lowering LDL

Geology Of The Oaks Belt
Geology of the Oaks Belt The Oaks Belt is composed of mafic to felsic volcanic and volcaniclastic
rocks, clastic sedimentary rocks, iron formation and several generations of intrusive rocks. Mafic
volcanic rocks constitute the bulk of the stratigraphy in the OB and occur as both pillowed basalts and
massive flows. They are aphanitic to fine grained and dark green to black (Frey and Venzke, 1991).
Mafic volcaniclastic rocks are more common lower in stratigraphy. Intermediate volcanic rocks occur
almost exclusively as tuffs, are feldspar phyric and contain 20 30% mica and amphibole. Felsic
volcaniclastic rocks vary from rhyolites to dacites and occur mainly near the stratigraphic top of the
volcanic pile where they directly underlie massive sulfide and iron formation deposits. These highly
siliceous rocks are mica and amphibole poor, and occur as both quartzphyric fragments and tuffs.
Felsic agglomerate rocks transition from dacite to rhyolite down stratigraphy (Frey and Venzke, 1991).
Clastic rocks are most common in the central part of the study area and display graded bedding as well
as slumping and soft sediment deformation (Frey and Venzke, 1991).Chemical sedimentary rocks in
the OB include iron formation and chert. The tendency of massive sulfide deposits to occur in
brecciated piles of tuff fragments with associated footwall alteration indicates they are not seawater
precipitates. Chert is typically sulfidic, with pyrite and pyrrhotite as the main sulfide minerals.

Joan Vinckeboon Myth
A 1650 map, created by Joan Vinckeboon, titled Map of California Shown as an Island, echoes the
inaccurate belief of cartographers, whose early maps depicted California as an island, separate from
mainland North America. The Dutch cartographer and engraver Vinckeboon was born into a Flemish
family of artists and started out drawing for his father. About 1640, he started creating maps, and later
was employed by the Dutch West India Company, where he spent roughly three decades creating maps
that aided Dutch mercantile and military shipping. He was associated with the notable map and atlas
publisher Joan Blaeu, and so, Vinckeboon is credited with compiling a series of 200 manuscript maps
that were published in atlases, including Blaeu s Atlas Major. ... Show more content on

What Does Gait Analysis Means
Gait means locomotion and evaluating locomotion by professionals is called gait analysis. Pattern of
walking differ from one individual to another. A gait cycle consists of the activities that occur from the
point of initial contact of one lower extremity to the point at which the same extremity contacts the
ground again There are 2 phases of walking: stance phase ii. Swing phase. Stance phase covers from
heels strike to toe. In this phase foot is on ground which acts as a shock absorber. Swing phase is non
weight bearing phase in which weight is only on one foot during walking. Gait constitutes movement
of whole body which involves biomechanical abnormalities like running, skipping, hopping etc. Gait

significant of the study and limitation related to the study.
1.1 INTRODUCTION
Resistance training has become one of most popular physical activities for increasing muscular
strength, endurance, hypertrophy and muscular power (American College of Sports Medicine, 2002).
Resistance training can be done either in the gymnasium or outside the gymnasium using the weight,
barbell, dumbbell, machine exercise, fit ball or body weight using the variables that needed. When
designing resistance training programs, many variables such as intensity, volume, frequency,
repetition, and velocity and rest interval must be considered as all these variable can be manipulated to

result in overtraining syndrome. Robinson, stone, Johnson, Penland, Warren and Lewis (1995) stated
in their study that, the 3 minute rest interval led to greater strength increase because of the ability to
maintain a higher training intensity and it demonstrated that greater muscular recovery via longer rest
interval between sets is the key to greater strength increases. If the training goal is maximal strength
development, sufficient of rest interval between sets must be included in the resistance training to get

The Art of Competition for College Students
During our daily routine, we see many different individuals. We can only wonder where they come
from, who they are, and what they are doing here. Unfortunately, people tend to forget who are around
them because our eyes are solely glued onto a small screen or too distracted by the sounds of music
pulsating through their ears. People nowadays are fixated on discovering what their purpose is. By
being a college student, you are entitled to just studying and doing well in school because we all want
a great job later on. The pressure of competition comes into play and how it is so difficult to pursue a
career knowing that another individual can have it. The requirements that are expected from people
develop into more self seeking individuals. Competition for having a career becomes very stressful
and exhausting. Long hours of studying, restless nights are all attributes of what a college student goes
through. With California alone, there is an unemployment rate of 8.9% as of August 2013. Fear just
forms within a student s mind when they think about what their future may consist of. Questions run
through their mind of whether or not they will ever be in that unemployment rate or will a career lead
them to never landing in that percentage. People are like ants carrying the leaves or stuff found along
the way towards their central home. (Anderson and Figueroa) Ants have a direct purpose. Students are
very similar where they are buying books to study or carrying that notebook

Hemophila Mutation
A large number of mutations for Hemophilia A have been detected and identified. The most common
mutation found is the intron twenty two inversion and intron one inversion of the Factor VIII gene.
This mutation occurs in 40 50 percent of people with Hemophilia A. It is caused by the homologous
recombination between copies of a DNA sequence. One copy is located on the intron 22 region of
factor VIII and the other copies are distal to the factor VIII. Intron one of the factor VIII gene occurs
when the factor VIII gene is split which results in the production of two chimeric mRNAs. One of the
mRNA has have the exon of the factor VIII and the exons 2 6 on the exon gene of the VBP1 gene,
which codes for the subunit of prefolding. The second mRNA has all exons except the last exon of the

According to Keeney, Mitchel, Goodeye (2010), this is done through PCR amplification. PCR is a
method used to amplify a copy of a piece of DNA, which will result in millions of copies of a specific
sequence. To detect the intron 1 inversion of factor VIII, the specific sequence is amplified, which is
the intron 1 homologous sites. When the amplification occurs, the fragments are separated through
electrophoresis and scientists can determine if there is a problem in the gene responsible for
Hemophilia. The gold standard method for Hemophilia A is DNA sequencing. It will detect the
mutation in the affected male and the female carrier. In using direct sequencing, analyze a single
nucleotide polymorphism to track the defective X chromosome in the family. In addition, scientists
can detect the essential regions of factor VIII, such as the promoter region, and all the exons and
intron/exon boundaries. This method is cost effective and provides sufficient results (Keeney,
Mitchell, Goodeve 2010). Treatment of Hemophilia

earth forever. Elizabeth Kolbert, in her novel The Sixth Extinction, defines mass extinctions as
...events that eliminate a significant proportion of the world s biota in a geologically insignificant
amount of time (Kolbert 16). Five major mass extinctions have transpired that significantly changed
biodiversity. Kolbert argues that Earth currently faces a Sixth mass extinction, one caused by humans.

The Spanish sailors named the Islands the Galapagos the Spanish name for Tortoise ( Tortoise
(Galapagos) 1). Ever since that expedition, the Galapagos Tortoise remains a symbol of the island and
the research that took place there, including that of famed naturalist Charles Darwin (Kolbert 68).
Darwin noted the human caused extinction of the Chelonoidis elephantopus, a sub species of the
Galapagos Tortoise, in his renowned novel On the Origin of Species (Kolbert 68). Humans have
compiled an array of threats, all of which still affect the Galapagos Tortoise to this day. When sailors
first arrived on the island, they started to hunt and eat the tortoises in excess. This exploitation
continued with whaling ships, who would often load them onto the boats by the hundreds.
Merchantmen and pirates also continued this practice of hunting and capturing Galapagos Tortoises in
prodigious amounts. These animals seemed a great provision for anyone on a boat because they could
live up to a year without food of water. The sailors would often keep them alive on the boat and kill
them just before eating the fresh meat. Because of this overhunting, the islands lost between 100,000
and 200,000 tortoises ( Galapagos Giant Tortoise ). Some of the subspecies, including the one Darwin
wrote about, were hunted to extinction (Kolbert 68). In addition to killing for meat, whalers and

Chapter 3: Practical test
My House lab Scenario.
For this coursework I have decided to perform a penetration testing against My House lab , to evaluate
and improve my WLAN Infrastructure security.
The scenario that I had examined is a WLAN Infrastructure Network using a Virgin Media Super Hub
(Netgear) , with more than 10 devices connected .
Looking on the internet about the router model I own I could make an interesting discovery. I found an
article written by an expert in computer security, Paul Moore, dating back to March 2014(Paul
Moore,2014). This guy, a year ago, had found a flaw inside the super hub of VirginMedia. Indeed
reboot the router took 1 minute to start well, and in this minute for seven seconds was able to access
the WiFi network without the need for key. Fortunately Paul contacted the Virgin who in turn
contacted the Netgear to try to resolve the issue with the release of a new firmware.
Now the problem is resolved, however is an interesting issue happened, because sometimes, our
security depends not only on us and what we can do to protect it and keep it. Sometimes there may be
larger obstacles, as in this case an error of firmware that we can circumvent but not eliminate (until the
company responsible is not able to patch it).
Methodologies
I adopted different steps to performing penetration testing that is effective in testing how well the My
House lab is secure. I have used different softwares such as NMap , Wareshark,

The Effects Of Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho In The Horror...
The Effects of Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho in the Horror Film Genre
Alfred Hitchcock s Psycho is one of the foundational films in cinema, especially in the horror genre.
The film set new box office records around the world and received 4 OSCAR nominations. The movie
is characterized by plot simplicity, a small cast, new effects, and a handful of locations. In the plot,
Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) steals 40,000 dollars from her employer to spend it with her boyfriend and
ends up in an isolated motel where she meets the proprietor, Norman Bates, who ushers her in a
friendly way. The young woman is later brutally murdered without an explanation, turning the film
into a mystery. The subsequent events indicate that Norman has been hiding a most bizarre secret. A
secret that, at the time, no one watching the film would have guessed. Since its release in 1960, the
movie has had a significant influence on film making and audiences alike. Psycho changed the way
movies worked by owning up to the notion that rather than existing as a dream to be inhabited, movies
are a game to be played. This paper will demonstrate just how profoundly the movie Psycho has
affected the film industry.

Cliff Bradshaw s Cabaret
Cabaret was set in the late 1920 s and was supposed to be a satire of the change of thinking and the
rise of the Nazi party. Cliff Bradshaw was supposed to represent the Americans and how they had
changed their ways of thinking. An example of this from the play was when Bradshaw was trying to
convince Sally Bowles to leave Germany with him because of the Nazi Party. On the other hand, Sally
Bowles was supposed to represent all of the individuals who did not want to see the changes in the
world and those who wanted to be oblivious to what was happening. This is also depicted in the same

Discuss the technological impact on film theory and the...
Films are one of the most popular media in the modern world, watched by hundreds of millions of
people all around the world. Films began in the late 19th century as a technological novelty,
transferring to a new means of presentation and distribution an older tradition of entertainment,

(McQuail, 1983) And, as with any popular media, people began to talk and write about it, and film
theory arose from these writings.

The advent of the digital age has affected not only the production and postproduction of the films, but
also the cinema and post cinema aspects as well. Cinemas now have features like THX or Dolby
surround sound, enhancing the cinematic experience, and the IMAX 3D projection system, which has
two camera lenses to project two different images simultaneously, simulating a 3d effect, which results
in an extremely immersive and engaging experience for the viewer.
In post cinema, new digital formats like the laser disc, video compact disc and the digital video disc,
known as the LD, VCD and DVD allowed for higher quality home releases of films. That, coupled

Ruby Career Counseling
This paper will provide an introduction to the career counseling process through the examination of
Ruby, a client, and how her case could be handled. It will provide basic background information about
Ruby and her current career situation. In addition, I will explore the career counseling process
beginning with a look at the overall goals of career counseling theories to Ruby s situation. Finally,
formal and informal tools will be introduced and recommended in an effort to demonstrate options for
providing Ruby with a comprehensive and effective career counseling process. Ruby is a 38 year old
single/divorced Hispanic woman with a bachelor s degree in Radiology Technology; she is motivated,
ambitious and eager to advance her career in radiology. She lives in Bronx, NY and is currently
working at ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To prevent Ruby from experiencing this feeling, we spoke about having a staff meeting to discuss
issues or concerns regarding office procedures, attend communication skill course, and have an open
communication relationship with everyone in the workplace; this will promote a healthy environment
for staff. At the end of our session, Ruby and I discussed next steps about moving forward with her
career goals. I informed her to look into master s program and then look into a sample business plan
and a draft budget proposal for her future clinic. I assist Ruby in assessing her interest and opinions,
clarify her goals, encourage her to keep it up despite obstacles (communication) and create a plan of
actions. Lastly, I gave Ruby a binder of all the handout and materials we spoke about during our
sessions. As Ruby left my office, I believe she will achieve in the future and her life. There are many
roads that a career counselor can assist their clients to prepare mental, physical, and emotional in

Sandy Hook Shootings
A group of angry and worried moms petition together the following day of the Sandy Elementary
Hook shooting. What started as a Facebook page plummeted rapidly turning into a lobbying force on
members of congress. Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America wanted more focus on
background checks on those who wanted to acquire guns within the United States. An alluring
illustration by the campaign is born. The ad that catches the eye depicts a banned children s book. Two
girls are side by side in a library flooded with shelves of books. On the right side stands an American
flag, and on the right sits an old rocking chair. The main focus is on the two little girls sitting side by
side cross legged. The girls are total opposites. The girl sitting on the right beside the rocking chair is
a short haired brunette holding an Assault weapon half her size. On the left besides the American flag,
an African American girl is holding a children s book, Little Red Riding Hood. The ad asks the
viewers to guess which item is banned in the United States. On the bottom in tiny scripts it writes, We
keep little Red Riding Hood ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Assault weapons have proven to be fatal for children as demonstrated during the Sandy Hook
Shootings. The Sandy Hook Shooting is what ignited the construction of the ads. The tragedy that the
shootings caused, demonstrate just how lethal assault weapons are for children. Moreover, the official
name of the organization Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America is listed on the
advertisement is a sign of credibility. The mention of the group indicates that the campaign is indeed a
reliable organization. An active website is also dedicated to the campaign that informs the audience
more about the organizations progress and aims. Moms Demand action demonstrate ethos effectively
by providing its audience with tangible scenarios on the dangers of Assault

Seaworld Park, California, Florida, And Texas
SeaWorld opened in 1964 along the Mission Bay in San Diego, stretching a total of 21 acres. When
they first started, their park only had 45 employees, a few dolphins, sea lions, and two saltwater
aquariums. Today, several parks are spread out throughout the southern United States in California,
Florida, and Texas. SeaWorld provides various shows every day with special perks for high paying
guests, such as swimming with dolphins and other sea dwellers. A majority of their shows include
orcas, otherwise known as killer whales. Recently, these majestic beasts have been living up to those
names, attacking, mauling, and fatally injuring the parks own trainers. Blackfish, a documentary
released in 2013, gets up close and personal with these stories of attack, to bring us countless reasons
why orcas, and other marine life, should be left to live in their natural habitats, instead of in the
concrete cells they rot in now. Orca pods are part of a matriarchal society, the females are more
dominant and this can cause disputes between the alphas. When orcas are confined to a small space,
these fights can get out of hand, disallowing the least dominant one to run, resulting in injury and
death to the whales. Over the past 35 years there have been four deaths and countless injuries, and
each time SeaWorld has placed the blame upon the trainers, explaining they hadn t completed basic
safety procedures. Orcas should not be kept in captivity for many reasons. Firstly, they are

Kendi explains his views on racism in America. Kendi informs the reader that President Trump is unifying Americans in their denial. I agree that the media ignores racism, a point that needs to be addressed. In the article Kendi states, The more racist Mr. Trump sounds, the more Trump country denies his racism, and the more his opponents look away from their own racism to brand Trump country as racist. Many people assume that the media provides them with all the important information but the American media usually avodes the important race issues. The media ignores the county s past race issues with former presidents saying racist remarks while in the Oval office. The media uses racist phrases in the news without thinking twice. • 3. Eu Union Of The European Union Essay On Thursday, June 23rd, in a history making vote, the people of the United Kingdom decided to leave the European Union, hopefully providing flexibility on a range of issues. For those who back the exit from the EU, the claim is Britain, among other things, will have better business regulations, immigration control, and trade agreements. Ultimately, those in favor of leaving the EU, are seeking an economic and policy independence. EU Member s respective national flags. Photo by: Gordon JohnsonWhat is the EU? The European Union is a union of 28 nations who have relinquished part of their sovereignty to EU institutions such as the European Parliament, European Council, and European Central Bank. Formed in 1993, the EU sought to further improve members economies and establish European free trade. In a deeper effort to unite, the EU also has an official currency that can be used throughout Europe. The currency, called the Euro, is used in 19 of the EU member states which make up the Eurozone. This currency assists in easier spending as it compliments the single market established by the Union. • 4. Ophelia and Hamlet in The Tragedy of Hamlet Essay Ophelia and Hamlet In 1600, William Shakespeare composed what is considered the greatest tragedy of all time, Hamlet, the tragedy of the Prince of Denmark. His masterpiece forever redefined what tragedy should be. Critics have analyzed it word for word for nearly four hundred years, with each generation appreciating Hamlet in its own way. While Hamlet conforms, without a doubt, to Aristotle s definition of a tragedy, one question still lingers. Did Shakespeare intend for the reader or viewer of Hamlet to feel greater sympathy for Hamlet, or for Ophelia, Hamlet s lover? Both characters tug at the heartstrings throughout the play, but it is clear that the tragedy of the Prince of Denmark is a misrepresentation of Shakespeare s true ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It seems clear that Ophelia, in her madness, knows what others may be. She has become enlightened in her insanity. Unfortunately, because of her suicide, Ophelia is never given the chance to know what she herself might have been. Clearly though, Ophelia does change greatly from act 1 to act 4. She transforms from a simple and innocent young girl into a mad, unsettled and knowing woman. What brings on these changes in Ophelia? One significant cause is the aforementioned attempted education by Ophelia s brother, Laertes. When Laertes gives his brotherly advise to Ophelia, in act 1, scene 3, he speaks of more that just Hamlet s love for Ophelia. Laertes warns Ophelia that Hamlet is toying with her affection in lines 14 18: ... Perhaps he loves you now, And now no soil nor cautel doth besmirch The virtue of his will, but you must fear, His greatness weighed, his will is not his own, or he himself is subject to his birth. (1.3.14 18) According to Laertes, Hamlet could not possibly love Ophelia because his is a prince and Ophelia a mere maid. Hamlet is bound by his regency to love and marry a princess of equal rank and stature. In lines 30 33, Laertes preaches the importance of Ophelia s chastity: If with too credent ear you list his songs, Or lose your heart, or your chaste treasure open

  • 6. Analysis Of I Was A Puerto Rican, By Esmeralda Santiago Question 1 Foreshadowing I push my cart away, toward the apples and pears of my adulthood, their nearly seedless ripeness predictable and bittersweet. This quote, and entire prologue, are taken from the memoir When I was a Puerto Rican, by Esmeralda Santiago and they foreshadow that her whole life is changed, just like the fruit she eats and that are in her life. Santiago life is totally turned around in this memoir and the prologue shows that. The author weaves foreshadowing into the memoir by showing us how her life changed dramatically and once she came to the United States everything was different, just like fruit here in the United States and in Puerto Rico. The author uses the technique of foreshadowing to give something to look forward to in her story and build suspense and anticipation. Santiago used foreshadowing to show that her life changed and that it changed a lot. Her life is foreshadowed that it will change and that she lets her past go. Leaving her past in the past and moving on with her present and future. Santiago s life was horrible growing up. Basically, everything you could ever want from Game of Thrones (we don t watch this show for the culture). The ways one can abuse power in the upper echelons of Westeros society is amazing, but these fine folks are sticking with the classics in this season s opener: misuse of position and Crown resources. • 9. Pretty Wom An American Romantic Comedy Pretty Woman is an American romantic comedy produced in 1990 by Touchstone Pictures. In the film, Vivian Ward, one of the central characters, works as a prostitute in Los Angeles, California. Edward Lewis, a rich, businessman hires Vivian as an escort for a weeklong period, to serve as his date to various functions and events. And over the course of the week, a relationship between the two matures. Seeing that it focuses on the way in which a well to do, handsome man saves and transforms a pitiable prostitute into a beautiful woman with class and style, the movie is considered a modern day Cinderella story. Although the film has all of the elements to be considered a wonderful love story, several issues can be identified and critiqued, particularly those dealing with the portrayal of gender and sexual scripts. Gender is defined as the state of being male or female. Gender consists of the assortment of mental traits that differ between the sexes; thus, gender scripts are the behavior expectations given to males and females. The characters in the movies either feed into or go against gender scripts. Case in point, Edward is a wealthy businessman, and for that reason, his character feeds into the gender script of men being breadwinners and guiders in patriarchal societies. For instance, Edward is displayed as a savior, a hero of some sort, due to the fact that he takes Vivian off the streets, hires her, and transforms her into a well rounded, respectable woman. • 26. Geology Of The Oaks Belt Geology of the Oaks Belt The Oaks Belt is composed of mafic to felsic volcanic and volcaniclastic rocks, clastic sedimentary rocks, iron formation and several generations of intrusive rocks. Mafic volcanic rocks constitute the bulk of the stratigraphy in the OB and occur as both pillowed basalts and massive flows. They are aphanitic to fine grained and dark green to black (Frey and Venzke, 1991). Mafic volcaniclastic rocks are more common lower in stratigraphy. Intermediate volcanic rocks occur almost exclusively as tuffs, are feldspar phyric and contain 20 30% mica and amphibole. Felsic volcaniclastic rocks vary from rhyolites to dacites and occur mainly near the stratigraphic top of the volcanic pile where they directly underlie massive sulfide and iron formation deposits. These highly siliceous rocks are mica and amphibole poor, and occur as both quartzphyric fragments and tuffs. Felsic agglomerate rocks transition from dacite to rhyolite down stratigraphy (Frey and Venzke, 1991). Clastic rocks are most common in the central part of the study area and display graded bedding as well as slumping and soft sediment deformation (Frey and Venzke, 1991).Chemical sedimentary rocks in the OB include iron formation and chert. The tendency of massive sulfide deposits to occur in brecciated piles of tuff fragments with associated footwall alteration indicates they are not seawater precipitates. It is said that a Spanish writer, Garci Rodriguez de Montalvo, in his 1510 romance novel, Las Sergas de Esplandian, describes an island called California very close to the side of the Terrestrial Paradise; and it is peopled by black women, without any man among them, for they live in the manner of Amazons. A gait cycle consists of the activities that occur from the point of initial contact of one lower extremity to the point at which the same extremity contacts the ground again There are 2 phases of walking: stance phase ii. Swing phase. Stance phase covers from heels strike to toe. In this phase foot is on ground which acts as a shock absorber. Swing phase is non weight bearing phase in which weight is only on one foot during walking. Resistance training can be done either in the gymnasium or outside the gymnasium using the weight, barbell, dumbbell, machine exercise, fit ball or body weight using the variables that needed. When designing resistance training programs, many variables such as intensity, volume, frequency, repetition, and velocity and rest interval must be considered as all these variable can be manipulated to meet training goals (Baechle Earle ... Mistake in applying the rest interval in any resistance training program could theoretically result in overtraining syndrome. Robinson, stone, Johnson, Penland, Warren and Lewis (1995) stated in their study that, the 3 minute rest interval led to greater strength increase because of the ability to maintain a higher training intensity and it demonstrated that greater muscular recovery via longer rest interval between sets is the key to greater strength increases. If the training goal is maximal strength development, sufficient of rest interval between sets must be included in the resistance training to get a greater ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unfortunately, people tend to forget who are around them because our eyes are solely glued onto a small screen or too distracted by the sounds of music pulsating through their ears. People nowadays are fixated on discovering what their purpose is. By being a college student, you are entitled to just studying and doing well in school because we all want a great job later on. The pressure of competition comes into play and how it is so difficult to pursue a career knowing that another individual can have it. The requirements that are expected from people develop into more self seeking individuals. Competition for having a career becomes very stressful and exhausting. Long hours of studying, restless nights are all attributes of what a college student goes through. With California alone, there is an unemployment rate of 8.9% as of August 2013. Fear just forms within a student s mind when they think about what their future may consist of. Questions run through their mind of whether or not they will ever be in that unemployment rate or will a career lead them to never landing in that percentage. The most common mutation found is the intron twenty two inversion and intron one inversion of the Factor VIII gene. This mutation occurs in 40 50 percent of people with Hemophilia A. It is caused by the homologous recombination between copies of a DNA sequence. One copy is located on the intron 22 region of factor VIII and the other copies are distal to the factor VIII. Intron one of the factor VIII gene occurs when the factor VIII gene is split which results in the production of two chimeric mRNAs. One of the mRNA has have the exon of the factor VIII and the exons 2 6 on the exon gene of the VBP1 gene, which codes for the subunit of prefolding. The second mRNA has all exons except the last exon of the BRCC3 gene. Other patients that have Hemophilia A acquire the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Keeney, Mitchel, Goodeye (2010), this is done through PCR amplification. PCR is a method used to amplify a copy of a piece of DNA, which will result in millions of copies of a specific sequence. To detect the intron 1 inversion of factor VIII, the specific sequence is amplified, which is the intron 1 homologous sites. When the amplification occurs, the fragments are separated through electrophoresis and scientists can determine if there is a problem in the gene responsible for Hemophilia. The gold standard method for Hemophilia A is DNA sequencing. It will detect the mutation in the affected male and the female carrier. In using direct sequencing, analyze a single nucleotide polymorphism to track the defective X chromosome in the family. In addition, scientists can detect the essential regions of factor VIII, such as the promoter region, and all the exons and intron/exon boundaries. Darwin noted the human caused extinction of the Chelonoidis elephantopus, a sub species of the Galapagos Tortoise, in his renowned novel On the Origin of Species (Kolbert 68). This exploitation continued with whaling ships, who would often load them onto the boats by the hundreds. Merchantmen and pirates also continued this practice of hunting and capturing Galapagos Tortoises in prodigious amounts. These animals seemed a great provision for anyone on a boat because they could live up to a year without food of water. The sailors would often keep them alive on the boat and kill them just before eating the fresh meat.
