Restaurant Tippers Research Paper

The Restaurant Tippers We have been here for 10 minutes and still have not gotten our drinks ordered
yet! This was one of my countless complaints as a customer before I started working as a server in a
restaurant. It never occurred to me to consider how many tables our server was assigned to or how
time consuming some customer requests may be. The truth of the matter is, a majority of restaurant
guests do not notice these important details when deciding a servers tip. By taking a look at the
manner of guests, many servers can predict the way customers will tip: the how worthy are they?
tipper, the percent tipper, the I am a server too, tipper, and lastly, the overly lavish tipper. After only a
short period of time in the service industry, waiters can easily pick these customers out, based off the
tip they leave and the attitude presented. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These types of tippers will provide gratuity based off of how satisfactory their service was. However,
there are pros and cons to this type of customer. On one hand, if a server provides pleasing service
they will receive a gracious tip, one worth bragging about. For not so pleasing service, this is where
problems occur. The how worthy are they? tippers in more cases than not will be the kinds of people
that are awfully hard to satisfy, they are typically the most demanding and are often looked at as high
maintenance. Not to mention, with these tippers not only will waiters receive little to no tip at all; it
would not be a surprise to a server that they hear the dreaded words, I would like to speak with your
manager. Fact is, there are other guests in the restaurant so servers should try their best to please the
how worthy are they? tippers while being mindful of others; hoping that their other tables have
percent tippers

The Audacity Of Hope Analysis
In Service of the People
As Abraham Lincoln famously stated in his Gettysburg Address, government is of the people, by the
people, [and] for the people (Lincoln). In the memoir The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama, the
disconnected world of politics is explored, with the aim of finding the essence of American
government, the body that was able to keep America united through civil rights struggles, numerous
wars, and financial depressions. That unifying force, through the government, is the American people,
all of their joint morals, convictions, and goals that they share, Obama portrays the government as an
administrative body meant to serve all of its people, stand above all of the differences that pit different
groups of people against ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Obama made the decision to forego the comfort of traveling by jet between Washington and
Illinois, he was able to reconnect with his constituents. This allowed Obama to see how the
government has the potential to aid the poor, helping them with educational, social, and economic aid.
However, many people are opposed to government assistance for a slew of reasons. Senator Marco
Rubio from Florida believes that we need to make sure our government programs encourage work, not
dependence (Rubio). He argues that government assistance will lead to a culture of government
dependence, instead of truly helping people out. Others, such as President Grover Cleveland back in
1887, believe that should not intervene ever, even for matters as trivial as when there was a shortage
of grain. He did not think that the duty of the General Government ought to be extended to the relief
of individual suffering which is in no manner properly related to the public service or benefit (Shapiro,
9). However, outside these political and ideological circles, the negative view of public welfare comes
from the opposition of losing money from one s own pocket for the sake of

The World Press Freedom Index Essay
RWB was founded in 1985 in France. At the beginning, the organization promoted alternative
journalism to later change its focus towards press freedom. Even though RWB is most famous for its
annual World Press Freedom Index, another important sphere of its activity is related to assistance to
journalists assigned to dangerous areas. In order to develop the 2010 index, RWB sent a questionnaire
to about 130 correspondents in the world, among them journalists, researchers, attorneys and human
rights activists. The questionnaire consisted of 43 questions, divided in seven sections: (1) Physical
violence, (2) Number of journalists killed, arrested, physically attacked or threatened, and the role of
government officials in those cases, (3) Indirect threats, harassment, and access to information, (4)
Censorship and self censorship, (5) Control of media, (6) Judicial, business, and administrative
pressures, and (7) Internet and new media. However, none of these sections included questions about
the media ownership structure norneither about the media ownership structure nor about their
economic concentration in private hands. The questions in the section Control of media only inquire if
there are privately owned media in the country and if they are free to determine their editorial policy .
And with regard to independent media, the questionnaire assumes that they are privately owned. The
same section asks about unjustified layoffs of journalists, but only with regardconcerning to

My Idea Of Establishing A Hotel
Living as a foreigner in any country is not an easy task no matter why you have to be there: it can be
for studies like we are, to accompany your spouse, to be an employee and especially hard is to
establish your own business abroad. You have to keep in mind various aspects if you think about
starting from currency, living arrangements, funds, working permissions and ending with performance
standards, law regulations and so on. In this report I will explain my idea of establishing a hotel in

They are often do not meet the requirements needed for hotels with 5, 4 and even 3 stars because of
their size but they don t inferior in quality of service by any means. The basic idea of boutique hotel is
a unique, one of a kind, high class accommodation for people with medium to high income that
provides exclusive services tailored for the target group of guests.
Ireland has a distinguished style that many people appreciate and enjoy called Celtic design. Any
room or apartment could be transformed by painting the walls certain shades of green, gray, black,
maroon and brown, decorating the interior with symbols of trees, Celtic knots and using such
materials as wool and wood. This style has a lot of fans among non Irish people and of course local
people as well. However, if we speak about hotels in Irish style, they are mostly targeted at foreigners
as Irish people are already surrounded by it from the moment of birth.
After analyzing the competition on the market of boutique hotels in Dublin, I came to the conclusion
that among existing accommodation establishments there are no boutique hotels in traditional Irish
style. This fact is a huge missed opportunity because, as it was already mentioned, Dublin welcomes
more than 4 million tourists from outside of Ireland which includes the United Kingdom, EU
countries, USA, Asian countries, South American countries and so on. Usually, when people are

Creating An Education System For Education Systems
Creating an education system that is capable of preparing students for the future, education systems
need to be configured into a new, more knowledge centered way of learning. Deconstructing
established structures and routines in education systems involves several planning and practices
coming together in learning and teaching to better reflect the demands of the 21st century world.
Personalised learning advocates that educational systems must change from the traditional or
industrial age of thinking one size fits all model. Personalised learning is a part of an educational
system that surrounds the student as a learner rather than the student requiring to fit in with the
system. This type of learning can be seen in a 21st century classroom, as the class using digital
technology and using an app called Mathletics which has each students required level of mathematics
which could range from low to high, each student works and learns at their own pace, this is in favour
of the teacher stand in front of the class and teach, as students who don t understand get lost very
quickly. Using personalised learning in the classroom helps the teacher to recognise where each
students level of comprehension is, each student has a personalised set task to complete. Diversity,
equity and inclusion is often referred to as a particular group of learners whom educational success
has been harder to achieve than that of other learners (Bolsted et al, 2012) However a 21st century

Lobbyist Government
Federal Lobbying
In the United States, there are more than fifty different versions of lobbying laws in states and
territories. On the Federal level, lobbying is defined as being any communication made on behalf of a
client to members of Congress, congressional staffers, the president, White House staff and high level
employees of nearly 200 agencies, regarding the formulation, modification, or adoption of legislation.
Though there is much disagreement about lobbyists, there have been laws enacted to try and control
them and those who abuse lobbying. There is always room for improvement with regards to lobbying
laws, because there is still your classic loop holes that people use to avoid being in violation of the
law.
Corporations, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since lobbyists only have to report twice a year, there is a significant lack of paperwork being filed,
which can mean that a bill can be passed before anyone is able to find out what lobbyists did to pass it.
Hundreds of millions of dollars are not being accounted for and are being exempt from disclosure; we
are not seeing how the money is being spent. Lobbyists donate large sums of money to a politician to
support their campaign, and the only way we see the money spent is if we see a television ad, or a sign
on the side of the road. These systems need to be updated with our rising technology.
The second section, slowing the revolving door, would extend the revolving door cooling off period to
two years and include prohibition on all lobbying activity during that period. Those whom were once
members of Congress and turned to lobbying should be stripped of their special access including perks
and privileges with their colleagues. The third section, states to prohibit registered lobbyists from
making, soliciting, or arranging for campaign contributions to those whom they lobby, in addition to
prohibiting privately sponsored travel for government officials and their staff.
Additionally, we need to establish some sort of agency that would act under Congress to help monitor
and enforce federal lobbying, travel, gift and ethics law. With having an agency

Persuasive Essay On Pet Ownership
According to the 2017 2018 National Pet Owners survey, about 68% of American households own a
pet. Someone could view pet ownership from many perspectives, on the one hand some pets are costly
and someone may have an allergy to them, but on the other had pets can bring an immeasurable
amount of love and joy to a family. Owning a pet can give their pet owner so much compassion, and
help them learn responsibility, and how to priorities their tasks. Someone can not teach compassion,
but something everyone must have to understand and respect others. A pet can give their pet owner so
much of love and joy. When I get stressed out my cat, Smokey, comes over to me and sit right on top
of whatever I happen to try to work on at the moment. This even happens when I get right into the
middle of my homework and she thinks I need a break so she lays down right in the middle of my
homework. Many types of pets that will show someone compassion, but when it comes to dogs they
seem to really know when their owner gets upset and need help. Duke, my nine year old labrador, gets
so excited to see me when I get off the bus that he knows the time that the bus comes and if he is
outside then he will run to the bus and wait there for my brother and me to get off. When I go down to
the barn to think the chickens will heard around my feet and not leave me alone until I get their food
for them and cracking up because they jump all over me. Whether someone has a dog or a lizard,

Atomoic and Sub-atomic Participles, Questions and Answers
1. a)
Copper is formed by metallic bonds. This is because it is formed by a strong attraction between the
closely packed positive metal ions and because these are surrounded by delocalised electrons to form
outer shells. Due to this, we can also deduce that its structure is a Giant Metallic Lattice, meaning that
it has a high melting and boiling point, conducts electricity and is insoluble.
Bromine formed by covalent bonds in between two bromine atoms, since bromine is a diatomic
element. Each bromine atom shares one electron with each other, in order to complete their outer
shell. Its structure is Simple Covalent Lattice, meaning that its melting and boiling point are low. Due
to the weak forces of attraction between the molecules. b)i) E ii) C iii) F iv) B
2. Ferr examples: Ferrell, Ferredoxin, Ferromagnetically, Ferrocene, Ferret, Ferrous, Ferric,
Ferrocyanide.
The prefix Ferr means that something contains iron.
phile examples: Amphiphile, Paedophile, Electrophile, Nucleaphile, Hydrophile.
The suffix phile means that there is an attraction to something. For example if chlorine is hydrophile
(hydro means water or liquid), it means that it has a tendency to interact with water or dissolve in it.

Contraceptives and Misconceptions Essay
Contraceptives and Misconceptions
There are many serious issues facing the U.S. today that require the rethinking of our problem solving
methods. In many situations, we may let our emotions interfere with our interpretations of the facts.
When a question of morals is involved, we often focus on what we want and not on what we ve got.
One of the most complicated and emotional issues today is the subject of making contraceptives
available to teenagers. Can it be that adult misconceptions are causing teenage conceptions?
The statistics on teen sex are staggering. According to Mrs. Seth, spokesperson for Planned
Parenthood, Eighty five percent of high school students, by the time they reach the twelfth grade, are

If children don t have sex, they don t need protection. If they do have sex, pregnancy and sexually
transmitted diseases shouldn t be a price they have to pay for the attitudes of adults who don t
approve. Unfortunately, teenagers can and do have sex without parental approval. The truth becomes
apparent when a teen becomes a parent.
Parents try to be aware of what their children are doing; however, it is a misconception to think that
sexual activity can be controlled at all times. Our society, not biology, declares that teens are not
supposed to engage in sex. Teenagers are designed by nature to have sex, are possessed of all the
necessary equipment to do so, and have the mental capabilities to hide such behavior from adults. The
sex drive is not caused by teachers, contraceptives, or the media. Although well meant, the notion that
parental warnings can make sex less appealing is arrogant and foolish. Teenagers are having sex
without permission, and the goal must be to minimize the damage, not look for someone to blame. As
adults struggle with controlling the actions of their children, they should protect them at the same
time. If children are forbidden to have sex, it is unlikely that they will discuss sexual problems with
the very person who told them it is not permissible. There must be options available to them, such as

Analysis Of The Poem The Usns Bob Hope
The USNS Bob Hope is a US Navy cargo ship named after the famous entertainer Bob Hope. It may
seem odd for a naval vessel to be named after an entertainer, but what Hope did for the Navy and the
military as a whole is worth the honor. Bob hope performed at hundreds of USO shows spanning 50
years. He dedicated much of his life to supporting US military efforts in the wars the country
participated in between the years of 1941 1991. Although Bob Hope may not have been a great
military leader like many other ships namesakes, but what Hope did shows great leadership in other
less expected ways. Leslie Townes Hope was born on May 29, 1903 in Eltham, London. His family
emigrated from England to the United States in 1908. Hope dropped out of school at age 16, and he
tried a few different career options before he eventually landed on entertainer. He started out taking
dance lessons and then working in small vaudeville shows. He started to gain some success with his
partner act before he discovered that he had a talent as a master of ceremonies (MC). He then split
from his partner in order to pursue this, and he was more successful as an MC. As Leslie Hope
continued to gain popularity, he decided that a name like Bob had a better sound to it; from then on he
was known to all as Bob Hope. In the early 40 s before the US was at war, Bob Hope performed for a
radio show, and In May 1941, the producer of the show convinced Hope to record the show at a live

Alpha Synuclein Research Paper
Alpha synuclein is one of three members of the synuclein family of proteins, which is further
comprised of beta synuclein, encoded by SNCB on chromosome 5q35, and gamma synuclein,
encoded by SNCG on chromosome 10q23. Structurally, alpha synuclein is 140 amino acids long and
consists of three domains: an N terminal KTKEGV repeat region, a central hydrophobic non amyloid
component (NAC) region, and an acidic C terminal region (Figure 1.1). At low concentrations, alpha
synuclein exists in its native random coil, unfolded conformation. However, the N terminal domain
(residues 1 60) of alpha synuclein undergoes a conformational shift from random coil to alpha helical
structure, enabling alpha synuclein to interact with small vesicles containing acidic phospholipids.
While the A53T mutation has no observable effect on this lipid binding property of alpha synuclein,
the A30P mutation disrupts, and the E46K mutation enhances the ability of alpha synuclein to bind
lipids. It remains to be determined if and how the more recently identified pathogenic substitutions,

This region forms the beta pleated sheet structure that is responsible for the fibrillization of alpha
synuclein. Beta synuclein, which is highly homologous to alpha synuclein except that it lacks a large
portion of the central NAC domain, is not found in filamentous inclusions in PD and does not form
fibrils in vitro. Likewise, gamma synuclein, which has less homology to alpha synuclein than beta
synuclein, is not found in filamentous inclusions in PD. In contrast, gamma synuclein is capable of
forming fibrils in vitro, albeit at much slower rate than alpha synuclein. The C terminal domain
(residues 95 140) consists of a hydrophilic, glutamate rich amino acid series which is thought to
inhibit alpha synuclein fibril

Cinderella And Charles Perrault s Cinderella As A Fairy Tale
The story of Cinderella has become a classic fairy tale, known around the world, and past down from
generation to generation. Yet, over the years, the story has been rewritten to better relate to different
cultures. While some things never change, authors still manage to convey different messages by
making the story their own. This can be clearly seen when the Grimm brothers version of Cinderella is
compared to Charles Perrault s version of Cinderella. While the core of the story does not change, the
moral, tone, and magical aspects of the two stories are clearly shaped by the different cultures in
which they were written in. In Grimm s Fairy Tales version of Cinderella, published in 1812,
Cinderella s mother s death is described in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eventually, it was the two sisters turn to try on the slipper. Both had small feet, but not small enough
to fit into the slipper, so they each cut off a piece of their foot in hopes of fitting into the slipper. They
almost succeeded too, but the birds from Cinderella s mother s grave would tell the messenger the
truth, and each sister was sent back home. When messenger returned to the house the prince went with
him and he asked Cinderella s father if he had another daughter, Cinderella was called for, and she
tried on the slipper which fit her foot perfectly. When the wedding day came the doves that had help
Cinderella picked out the stepsisters eyes and blinded them as punishment for their wickedness (J.
Grimm and W. Grimm 85 93).
However, this is not the case in Perrault s version of Cinderella. In Perrault s version there are no
doves sent by Cinderella s late mother, but rather Cinderella has a fairy godmother who uses her
magic to help Cinderella attend the ball. The fairy godmother turns a pumpkin into a coach, mice into
horses, a rat into a coachman, lizards into footmen, and her old rags into a dress of gold and silver and
warns Cinderella that the spell will break at midnight and everything will turn back as it once was.

The Importance Of Cursive Writing
Should cursive writing still be taught in school? In the fifth century, cursive writing was established by
the Romans Empire in Europe. Because before they don t have phone or computer with them to get
information and they stated cursive writing to get information and share. Cursive writing is more
important. Cursive writing should taught in school because it s helps kids to write fast, helps kids
brian make more storage, kids will be able to read when other people write cursive. Cursive writing
connects student to the past. William said children may teach to read more sasaki especially dyslexia
(William 2013). They read cursive writing and would be able to read historical documents. We should
be focusing on keyboarding skills and other computer based communication (Cindi 2014). Many
teacher have increased in class writing assignments and these essays must be legible. People also say
that print is easier to read that cursive, but again graham say the research isn t definitive on this either.
Cursive writing is a faster way of writing than printing. Because kids brain involved in thinking
language and working memory (William 2014). It is important that student writer at a speed that will
enable them to finish their lask. Copying text like a poem helps kids to internalize (Cindi, 2014). It can
improve if they write what they are reading addition to them learning. There s also some research that

Ways People Respond To Conflict Essay
People respond to conflict in many ways. A few such ways include responding to conflict through
lying, deception, and caving in to survive. These are the cases with Diary of Anne Frank. and HItler
youth.
Lying is one way people deal with conflict. Why wouldn t it be. An example would be from the Diary
of Anne Frank. The Diary is in the point of view of a young girl and her family hiding from the Nazis.
She details her experiences in the annex as well as her thoughts and feelings of herself and others
around her. Essentially, Anne and her family lie to the government and neighbors. There have even
been many times when the Nazis have lied. They have lied to Jews by telling them they would be
taking showers and killed them. Lying seems normal in situations of conflict. People may lie to save
themselves or to save others. People may also lie to achieve a sort of goal, whether it be good or bad.
It seems to be a very common way of responding to conflict.
Deception falls into a similar, if not the same, category of lying. It is a trick or scheme to get what you
want. Again the example of this would be when Anne and her family hid in the annex. This, like I said
before, was to escape the Nazis and concentration camps. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Voltaire and The Enlightenment
The eighteenth century was a crucial changing point in the European history because of The
Enlightenment. The Enlightenment was revolutionary because of Voltaire, a writer that used his ideas
to attack the established Catholic Church, and to propagate the freedom of religion, scientific

Voltaire was born in 1694, a year that was under the regiment of Louis XIV. At that time, the
aristocracy ruled France in an extreme way that most commoners were struggling in poverty. From a
middle class family, Voltaire did not like the political environment of France and the aristocratic

By this storyline, Voltaire wanted to tell the French aristocracy that they did not have any heritage.
Once they were expelled from their current positions, they needed to live as commoners, or maybe
suffered more because they had never done anything in the castle.
Even though Candide was expelled, he was still very happy because he always believed in optimistic
philosophy. He learnt the philosophy from his teacher, Panloss, a parody of the contemporary
philosophers in the seventeenth century that always argued about the metaphysics, which had no use
in the real world. Also, the optimism was a satire from the philosophy of Leibniz, a popular
philosopher around that time. The optimism was widely used in the Christian churches to tell people
that life was always full of happiness because the perfect God created the world. Human beings
suffered in the world because they did not see the greater purpose from God. The sufferings were only
trials and in the end the human being would still deserve ultimate happiness. After the Lisbon s
earthquake, which killed more than 30,000 people, many of who died because they were just praying
to the God without actually doing anything, Voltaire was very angry about the situation that the priests
in the church did not help people, but led them to sit in the church and pray. Therefore, he wanted to
attack this philosophy, so in Candide he described the horrible

Poor Richards Almanac Essay
First published by Benjamin Franklin in 1732, Poor Richard s Almanack was a guide to both weather
forecasts and wise sayings. Franklin used the pseudonym Richard Saunders in writing the text, which
became an annual publication up until 1757. Response to the almanac was tremendous, and it sold as
many as 10,000 issues a year. Second only to the bible, Poor Richard s Almanack was one of the most
popular and purchased publications in colonial America. The almanac stressed the two qualities
Franklin found to be essential to success, industry and frugality. Benjamin Franklin wrote this in hope
of having a positive effect on the colonies.

Overall, these sayings changed many of the colonist s lives, and made them think about how they were
conducting their lives.
Besides its many proverbs, the almanac contained forecasts for weather in the colonies. These
forecasts were based on the different weather patterns that Franklin predicted, and because they were
only predicted, they were not always accurate (Giblin 26). The forecasts proved to be very helpful to
the farmers and plantation workers when determining the kind of seasons the crops would have.
Weather played a very important role in the lives of the early colonists, and the almanac provided a
means for people to arrange their lives according to these weather forecasts. Although not the most
important part of the almanac, the colonists were always discussing the accuracy or imprecision of
Franklin s predictions.
In conclusion, by writing and publishing Poor Richard s Almanack, Benjamin Franklin made an
enormous contribution to the American public. It provided informatio0n on many topics that people
had not addresses publicly ever before. It also predicted the weather forecast, which was very helpful

Detection or Identification of Trace Amounts of Explosives
The detection and/or identification of trace amounts of explosives.
The review of each method should include a description of the way the method works and the
advantages and drawbacks of the technique.
Introduction
An explosive, are reactive substances that contain a large amount of potential energy that can yield an
explosion if they are released rapidly, they are accompanied by the production of light, heat, sound,
and pressure. Mainly used in the mining industry for extraction of minerals and resources, explosives
have been used as a weapon of destruction. Explosives often contain oxidising substances such as
nitrates chlorates, and a binding agent such as ammonium and potassium, which can be detected and
analysed to prevent such substances from being used as a weapon.
Explosives detection is critically important in many field settings (e.g., military facilities, minefields,
crime scenes, and remediation sites) and has become a necessity for the safety of the general public
(e.g., at airports and mass transit areas), there remains a demand for inexpensive and reliable explosive
instruments for identifying specific explosives. High explosives are considered to be organic and
oxidizing, a relatively uncommon mixture that makes them tractable for molecular recognition.
On 22 December 2001 Richard Colvin Reid also known as the Shoe Bomber attempted to detonate
explosives packed into the shoes he was wearing, while on American Airlines Flight 63 from Paris to
Miami.

Somalia in the Age of War on Terror: An Analysis of Violent Events and U.S. Covert Operations
The Zambakari Advisory
Phoenix, AZ 85005
Introduction
Somalia is a small country in the eastern part of Africa, known as The Horn of Africa . According to
the CIA World Factbook (2016), Somalia has a population of roughly 10.4 million, and 85 percent of
people are Somali. Additionally, a significant part of the population is Muslim, (CIA World Factbook,
2016), whom have contributed to the current conflict. In this report, we analyze the recent violent
conflict and U.S. intervention in Somalia.
The disorder in Somalia that has built up for many years has contributed to the growth of a terrorist
group bent on global jihad, al Shabaab (Ibrahim, 2010). Al Shabaab is an Islamist group that has been
involved in conflict with the Somalian government, and is considered one of the major threats to
Somalia s prospects for peace (Mueller, 2016).
The United States became involved with military strikes in Somalia during 2009, to combat al
Shabaab (Rotte, 2016). However, numerous civilians have lost their lives in the process. Complicating
the situation, it is not always clear whether or not al Shabaab poses an imminent threat. Prior to 2009,
the United States also set up the Alliance for the Restoration of Peace and Counter terrorism, where
they allied with Somali warlords to fight al Qaeda (Ibrahim, 2010). Since the United States allied itself

Africa By Kofi Awoonor Analysis
Modern World Literature: Africa Ghana s history is a metaphor for what occurred in the immediate
aftermath of independence in Africa, is a quote by Kofi Awoonor, Ghana s leading literary figure and
one of Africa s most acclaimed authors. Three of his poems illustrate the hardships and trials that the
Africans faced after their claim of independence from Britain. As said by Awoonor himself, ...high
hopes were crushed by the greed, corruption, and lust for power... . The author uses multiple literary
devices as a way to emphasize the adversities they faced. Kofi Awoonor symbolizes the downfall of
Ghana after independence through the use of theme, mood, and symbolism in his Three Poems. The

The next literary device is mood. Song of War holds a very intense and demanding voice to the text. It
is full of declaratives and it uses strong diction about war and their military. In the text, they refer to
those who do not want to serve as cowards and claim that they shall lose their calabashes when we
come... . Another example is, When we start, the ground shall shake... which is meant to stress their
amount of soldiers and bring fear to their opponents. The Sea Eats the Land at Home contains the
mood of pity and despair. The poem greatly highlights the devastation of the people from the loss of
their land and property. It can be detected in the poem how the mothers are mostly the one in
desolation for the fear of her kids. An example that backs up said statement is, With her two children
shivering from the cold, her hands on her breast, weeping mournfully. The mood contributes to the
distress of the Africans from not only loss of land, but loss of hope. At the Gates holds the mood of
faith and reliance. The narrator does not know where he is, but he remains dependent of God and
knows that he will be alright as long as he knows he is doing it for Him. He states in the poem, I will
drink this calabash for it is god s gift to me... . Another example is ...give me an offering that I will
give to God and he will be happy. The mood helps readers view the emotion and purpose distributed
throughout the story, and symbolism is another

The Importance Of Human Relations
Summary What is human relations? The term human relations is defined as the interactions among
people. Human relations are important to me as well as many others because it is a skill you need to
master to be able to work well with others and build lasting relationships. Whether it be working with
other employees from a different cultural background or learning how to maintain a good relationship
with your boss, mentor, or leader, having good human relation skills will help you succeed in not only
your personal life but your professional life as well. Human relation skills are important to
organizations because the skills learned play a major role in what makes an organization succeed.
Workplace relations directly affect work performance and employees must work together through
what is defined as teamwork (working together to achieve something beyond the capabilities of
individuals working alone) to accomplish the organizations overall goal. An organizations overall goal
should entitle the goal of human relations, which is to create a win win situation by satisfying
employee needs while achieving organizational objectives. A. How would you describe yourself as a
person? I would describe myself as an outgoing, ambitious, compassionate, and a creative person with
an intuitive mind. I am goal oriented, and I aspire to be successful in everything that I do by working
hard and accomplishing many tasks. I empathize with others, but I like to take control of a situation if

Gliomedin
Within a neuron, neurofascin is bound ankyrin G, which is bound to Na+ channels. Somehow, the
binding of neurofascin (expressed by axon) to gliomedin (expressed by the Schwann cell) is involved
in the formation of nodes of Ranvier. Gliomedin is only expressed when the Schwann cell is in
physical contact with the axon. Therefore, for the formation of nodes of Ranvier, three things must
occur. First, the Schwann cell must make physical contact with the axon. Then, it must express
gliomedin. Finally, gliomedin must form a complex with neurofascin (expressed by the axon). This
was determined through a set of experiments. To determine if sodium channel clustering depended on
glial cells, hippocampal cells were cultured in the absence of glial cells. This experiment showed that,
in the absence of glial cells, Na+ channels were found along the entire length of the axon. They were
not concentrated in clusters. Then, another experiment was conducted to determine if the node of
Ranvier formation was contact dependent. In this experiment, the dorsal root ganglia were bathed in
the extracellular fluid of Schwann cells. Again, nodes of Ranvier did not form. This showed that the
node of Ranvier formation mechanism was contact dependent. Another experiment was done to
determine if node of Ranvier formation depended on molecular signaling between the Schwann cells
and the axon. In this experiment, Schwann cells on a myelinated axon were killed. The nodes of
Ranvier disappeared. This showed that molecular signaling played a role in node of Ranvier
formation. Eventually, an experiment found that ankyrin G was concentrated at nodes of Ranvier. To

The Role of Zoos in Conservation
The roles of Zoos in conservation The main aim of zoos is to protect and conserve global biodiversity
and wildlife. To do this they have four roles to play which are; research, conservation, education and
welfare. Research: Research is the careful search or inquiry for new facts by scientific study of a
subject, through a course of critical investigation. By studying animals we can learn new things about
their behaviour and lifestyle. The Secretary of State s Standards of Modern Zoo Practice (SSSMZP)

Zoos try to make the animal s enclosure as interesting as possible. One way of doing this is through
ENVIRONMENTAL ENRICHMENT. Enrichment is the use of novel objects or ideas to increase the
natural behaviour of the animals. Different objects and methods are used for different animals. (1) The
World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) is the umbrella organisation for the world zoo and
aquarium community. Whilst recognising the variation in culture and customs within which the
WAZA operates, it is incumbent upon all members to exercise the highest standards of animal welfare
and to encourage these standards in others. Training staff to the highest level possible represents one
method of ensuring this aim. Members of WAZA will ensure that all animals in their care are treated
with the utmost care and their welfare should be paramount all times. At all times, any legislated codes
for animal welfare should be regarded as minimum standards. Appropriate animal husbandry practices
must be in place and sound veterinary care available. When an animal has no reasonable quality of

have reached its highest without the prominently themed music created by John Williams. The
renowned themes the force and imperial march are one of Williams most widely known music scores
and motion pictures of all history. John Williams was able to vividly depict the characters conflict
between good and evil through the use of musical elements like timbre, pitch and duration to create

The composer utilised timbre to express the evil tyranny of the storm troopers arrival in the Darth

Quebec Act Dbq
I believe that the Quebec Act is the best act when the majority of the people living in the
thirteen colonies label themselves as something other than British citizens. Such as in the
Quebec Act which is in 1774 on June 27, It was passed by British parliament to replace brief
government created at the time of the proclamation of 1763. It gave French Canadians
complete spiritual freedom and restored the French form of the civil law. The Quebec act was
arranged to extend the borders of Quebec and pledged religious freedom to broad Canadians.
The 1774 Act had sweeping effects, in Quebec itself, as well as in the thirteen colonies. In
Quebec, English speaking immigrants from Britain and the southern colonies objected to a
variety of its ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The provisions
of the Quebec Act were seen by the colonists as a new model for British colonial management
which would strip the colonies of their elected assemblies. It seemed to cancel the land claims
of the colonies by granting most of Ohio to the area of Quebec. The Americans were especially
angry that the Act recognized Catholicism as the state religion in Quebec. In particular in the
regions of Virginia, New York, and Pennsylvania for the reason that the lands of Ohio that were
given to Quebec were in fact assigned to them beforehand by the Parliament and if that was not
bad enough the new order also provisioned that the seigneuries that would uphold them.
Although I listed some bad things there are also some more bad things such as, the act did not
include the provision for the law making body. The act plus issued that the officer should
readdress their oath with Elizabeth the first and George the third which had no direction to the
protestant religion however the French Canadians were given the abandoned practice

How Did Akhenaten Changed Religion And Politics Within The...
Akhenaten changed religion and politics within the Amarna period through his large scale religious
and artistic reforms, decision to leave Thebes and make Amarna the capital and relations with third
party powers in the ancient Near East.
Early on in his reign Akhenaten began introducing new artistic styles, both in relation to religion and
personal portrayals of the royal family. After moving the capital from Thebes to Amarna in search of
new land on which to worship Aten (the God of sun/light) the artistic portrayal of the god changed to
become one the most symbolic and abstract depictions of a God in Ancient Egypt (Weigall 1922, 120).
The new depiction of Aten became a sun disc with long rays extending hands down to earth, and often
to the royal family or the king himself. This can be thought of as symbolising the power given to the
king by the Gods (Kempt 1989, 173). Akhenaten also introduced his own style of royal artwork, in
which the royal family was represented in an exaggerated manner. The most notable of these
exaggerations was the changes to facial features, such as the long skull and chin, and large oval eyes.
This is thought to perhaps represent the separation of the royal family from everyday Egyptian people,
however this contradicts with the meaning of another change to Amarna artwork, the personal,
intimate portraits of the king s family life (Kempt 1989, 265).
Akhenaten greatly influenced the way in which people worshiped by making changes to traditional

Climate change: Climate change is one of a larger set of large scale environmental changes occurring
in today s world. Climate change affects the social and environmental determinants of health clean air,

Stephane Hessel
Stephane Hessel, the writer of this article, is trying to tell the young people of today to constitute
change. He utilizes his experience in the National Council of the Resistance to portray the different
ways this organization helped fight Nazism. One of the things he mentioned the council achieved was
the lifting of restrictions on press freedom from 1944 on. His message of not just disagreeing with a
subject but going out, doing something about it and making a difference delivers a strong message. He
s basically telling everyone to not just be a bystander and watch things happen but MAKE them
happen. Additionally, he notes that being indignant about an issue/subject is to be treasured. Treasured
because in this world you can take action against that particular matter and make a change or pave the
way for change. In this sense, I agree with him as well, there are countries in the world where people
cannot change their circumstances and luckily, we are not one of those. As pointed out by the writer
leaders such as Hitler, ruled ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Post hurricane Irma and Maria the island has been left devastated. Buildings that were once new are
now destroyed, small businesses that existed are gone, houses are without roofs, etc. The indignation I
feel is that our president, has not taken action in aiding these American Citizens who are being
affected by the aftermath of these two hurricanes, predominantly Maria. There is only one working
hospital on the island and the streets are still flooded. These floods can eventually be precursors to
diseases and infections (possible and real threats). As a way to help the Puerto Ricans, my parents and
I have donated water, first aid kits etc. so these individuals can get the help/supplies they need. The
fact that it took the president to send the help needed by Puerto Rico nearly a week infuriated people
such as myself. As of right now there is not much I can do other than help by collecting

Wound Relationship Study
Addressing a chronic wound requires a myriad of individuals, each with their own unique knowledge,
and expertise, to contribute to complete wound healing. (1) This collaboration goes against the
discipline based training instilled in schools and requires establishments to further investigate the
collaboration paradigm. (2) In order for interdisciplinary teams to work effectively, elements such as
trust, respect, adaptability, openness, and communication need to be effective. (1,3) In the team link

Caregivers are trained to provide aseptic wound care, patients are closely monitored compared to their
own home setting, and physicians are always nearby to reassess wounds as needed. So where do these
infections come from? Literature reviews have opened the gateway to further questions and
investigations in order to answer this question. Comparing multiple studies listed in table 1, there are
still many unanswered questions as to where infections originate. Most studies are looking into
various prevention methods and the organisms present postoperatively, but do not address the question
of why these infections are occurring. Strengths and weaknesses in all studies show that one needs to

Natural Selection Vs. Sexual Selection
What is sexual selection? Sexual selection is the natural selection arising through preference by one
sex for certain characteristics in individuals of the other sex. This means they are copulating with their
other mate. Sexual selection can be dangerous in some cases depending on the rate and length of
copulating. It can be so harmful to species that they may not be able to survive from it afterwards.
Charles Darwin distinguished sexual selection and its various ways. He realized that sexual selection
is similar to natural selection in some ways but also different in other forms of sources. Sexual
selection is similar to natural selection because it enhances the male traits but different from natural
selection because it does not

River Tees Drainage Baisin Essay
River Tees Drainage Baisin
The river Tees flows from the Pennines in Cumbria, northwest England, to the North Sea via Tees
Bay. Its length is 130 km / 80 miles. Its port, Teesport, handles in excess of 42 million tonnes of water
per year. Its main tributaries are the Lune, Balder, and Greta. There are many factors affecting the
drainage baiins of the River Tees, many of these are human factors.
Water Barrage and Watersports: Much of the water nearing the sea is polluted with industrial waste,
sewage, and chemicals. The Tees Barrage, which opened in 1995, enables a 16 km / 10 mile stretch of
the river to provide clean, non tidal water. The barrage was built to improve the river s watersports ...

There are several reservoirs in the river basin used to store water to be used for later use. The
reservoirs also helps in flood control. Water levels can rise very quickly following a rain storm.
Storing water in the reservoir reduces flooding in the lower course.
Farming and Irigation Water: A major land uses in the upper Tees is rough grazing for sheep. The land
is too steep to use machinery, the growing season too short and the soils too thin and acidic For
growing crops and so not much water is needed for irigation in comparison to the River Severn. Only
where the land is less steep is the pasture improved by fertilizers, the occasional crop is grown,
requiring some irigation water from the Tees.
Hydro Electric power: There are no power plants along the Tees.
There are also many natural factors affecting the hydrology of the River Tees drainage basin, these
include:
Geology: There is a succession of falls, where the river traverses a hard series of black basaltic rocks,
the water flows fast her due to the steep down slope, the impermiable smooth rocks also allow fast
flow and no infiltration, and so at times of heavy percipitation the water level at these points in the
river will rise sharply and the power and speed of the river will increase. At flatter areas of these
basaltic rocks the river can flood easily.

  • 3. Restaurant Tippers Research Paper Allison Matush Professor Joan Bell Kaul, Ph.D. Intermediate Composition 13 November 2016 The Restaurant Tippers We have been here for 10 minutes and still have not gotten our drinks ordered yet! This was one of my countless complaints as a customer before I started working as a server in a restaurant. It never occurred to me to consider how many tables our server was assigned to or how time consuming some customer requests may be. The truth of the matter is, a majority of restaurant guests do not notice these important details when deciding a servers tip. By taking a look at the manner of guests, many servers can predict the way customers will tip: the how worthy are they? tipper, the percent tipper, the I am a server too, tipper, and lastly, the overly lavish tipper. After only a short period of time in the service industry, waiters can easily pick these customers out, based off the tip they leave and the attitude presented. ... On one hand, if a server provides pleasing service they will receive a gracious tip, one worth bragging about. For not so pleasing service, this is where problems occur. The how worthy are they? tippers in more cases than not will be the kinds of people that are awfully hard to satisfy, they are typically the most demanding and are often looked at as high maintenance. Not to mention, with these tippers not only will waiters receive little to no tip at all; it would not be a surprise to a server that they hear the dreaded words, I would like to speak with your manager. Fact is, there are other guests in the restaurant so servers should try their best to please the how worthy are they? tippers while being mindful of others; hoping that their other tables have percent tippers ... In the memoir The Audacity of Hope by Barack Obama, the disconnected world of politics is explored, with the aim of finding the essence of American government, the body that was able to keep America united through civil rights struggles, numerous wars, and financial depressions. This allowed Obama to see how the government has the potential to aid the poor, helping them with educational, social, and economic aid. However, many people are opposed to government assistance for a slew of reasons. Senator Marco Rubio from Florida believes that we need to make sure our government programs encourage work, not dependence (Rubio). He argues that government assistance will lead to a culture of government dependence, instead of truly helping people out. Others, such as President Grover Cleveland back in 1887, believe that should not intervene ever, even for matters as trivial as when there was a shortage of grain. He did not think that the duty of the General Government ought to be extended to the relief of individual suffering which is in no manner properly related to the public service or benefit (Shapiro, 9). In order to develop the 2010 index, RWB sent a questionnaire to about 130 correspondents in the world, among them journalists, researchers, attorneys and human rights activists. The questionnaire consisted of 43 questions, divided in seven sections: (1) Physical violence, (2) Number of journalists killed, arrested, physically attacked or threatened, and the role of government officials in those cases, (3) Indirect threats, harassment, and access to information, (4) Censorship and self censorship, (5) Control of media, (6) Judicial, business, and administrative pressures, and (7) Internet and new media. However, none of these sections included questions about the media ownership structure norneither about the media ownership structure nor about their economic concentration in private hands. The questions in the section Control of media only inquire if there are privately owned media in the country and if they are free to determine their editorial policy . And with regard to independent media, the questionnaire assumes that they are privately owned. The same section asks about unjustified layoffs of journalists, but only with regardconcerning to ... Ireland has a distinguished style that many people appreciate and enjoy called Celtic design. Any room or apartment could be transformed by painting the walls certain shades of green, gray, black, maroon and brown, decorating the interior with symbols of trees, Celtic knots and using such materials as wool and wood. This style has a lot of fans among non Irish people and of course local people as well. However, if we speak about hotels in Irish style, they are mostly targeted at foreigners as Irish people are already surrounded by it from the moment of birth. After analyzing the competition on the market of boutique hotels in Dublin, I came to the conclusion that among existing accommodation establishments there are no boutique hotels in traditional Irish style. • 7. Creating An Education System For Education Systems Creating an education system that is capable of preparing students for the future, education systems need to be configured into a new, more knowledge centered way of learning. Deconstructing established structures and routines in education systems involves several planning and practices coming together in learning and teaching to better reflect the demands of the 21st century world. Personalised learning advocates that educational systems must change from the traditional or industrial age of thinking one size fits all model. Personalised learning is a part of an educational system that surrounds the student as a learner rather than the student requiring to fit in with the system. This type of learning can be seen in a 21st century classroom, as the class using digital technology and using an app called Mathletics which has each students required level of mathematics which could range from low to high, each student works and learns at their own pace, this is in favour of the teacher stand in front of the class and teach, as students who don t understand get lost very quickly. Using personalised learning in the classroom helps the teacher to recognise where each students level of comprehension is, each student has a personalised set task to complete. Diversity, equity and inclusion is often referred to as a particular group of learners whom educational success has been harder to achieve than that of other learners (Bolsted et al, 2012) However a 21st century learning ... Lobbyists donate large sums of money to a politician to support their campaign, and the only way we see the money spent is if we see a television ad, or a sign on the side of the road. Parents try to be aware of what their children are doing; however, it is a misconception to think that sexual activity can be controlled at all times. Our society, not biology, declares that teens are not supposed to engage in sex. Teenagers are designed by nature to have sex, are possessed of all the necessary equipment to do so, and have the mental capabilities to hide such behavior from adults. The sex drive is not caused by teachers, contraceptives, or the media. Although well meant, the notion that parental warnings can make sex less appealing is arrogant and foolish. • 14. Alpha Synuclein Research Paper Alpha synuclein is one of three members of the synuclein family of proteins, which is further comprised of beta synuclein, encoded by SNCB on chromosome 5q35, and gamma synuclein, encoded by SNCG on chromosome 10q23. Structurally, alpha synuclein is 140 amino acids long and consists of three domains: an N terminal KTKEGV repeat region, a central hydrophobic non amyloid component (NAC) region, and an acidic C terminal region (Figure 1.1). At low concentrations, alpha synuclein exists in its native random coil, unfolded conformation. However, the N terminal domain (residues 1 60) of alpha synuclein undergoes a conformational shift from random coil to alpha helical structure, enabling alpha synuclein to interact with small vesicles containing acidic phospholipids. While the A53T mutation has no observable effect on this lipid binding property of alpha synuclein, the A30P mutation disrupts, and the E46K mutation enhances the ability of alpha synuclein to bind lipids. Explosives detection is critically important in many field settings (e.g., military facilities, minefields, crime scenes, and remediation sites) and has become a necessity for the safety of the general public (e.g., at airports and mass transit areas), there remains a demand for inexpensive and reliable explosive instruments for identifying specific explosives. High explosives are considered to be organic and oxidizing, a relatively uncommon mixture that makes them tractable for molecular recognition. On 22 December 2001 Richard Colvin Reid also known as the Shoe Bomber attempted to detonate explosives packed into the shoes he was wearing, while on American Airlines Flight 63 from Paris to Miami. ... Somalia in the Age of War on Terror: An Analysis of Violent Events and U.S. Covert Operations The Zambakari Advisory Phoenix, AZ 85005 Introduction Somalia is a small country in the eastern part of Africa, known as The Horn of Africa . According to the CIA World Factbook (2016), Somalia has a population of roughly 10.4 million, and 85 percent of people are Somali. Additionally, a significant part of the population is Muslim, (CIA World Factbook, 2016), whom have contributed to the current conflict. In this report, we analyze the recent violent conflict and U.S. intervention in Somalia. The disorder in Somalia that has built up for many years has contributed to the growth of a terrorist group bent on global jihad, al Shabaab (Ibrahim, 2010). Al Shabaab is an Islamist group that has been involved in conflict with the Somalian government, and is considered one of the major threats to Somalia s prospects for peace (Mueller, 2016). The United States became involved with military strikes in Somalia during 2009, to combat al Shabaab (Rotte, 2016). However, numerous civilians have lost their lives in the process. Complicating the situation, it is not always clear whether or not al Shabaab poses an imminent threat. Prior to 2009, the United States also set up the Alliance for the Restoration of Peace and Counter terrorism, where they allied with Somali warlords to fight al Qaeda (Ibrahim, 2010). Africa By Kofi Awoonor Analysis Modern World Literature: Africa Ghana s history is a metaphor for what occurred in the immediate aftermath of independence in Africa, is a quote by Kofi Awoonor, Ghana s leading literary figure and one of Africa s most acclaimed authors. Three of his poems illustrate the hardships and trials that the Africans faced after their claim of independence from Britain. As said by Awoonor himself, ...high hopes were crushed by the greed, corruption, and lust for power... . The author uses multiple literary devices as a way to emphasize the adversities they faced. Another example is, When we start, the ground shall shake... which is meant to stress their amount of soldiers and bring fear to their opponents. The Sea Eats the Land at Home contains the mood of pity and despair. The poem greatly highlights the devastation of the people from the loss of their land and property. It can be detected in the poem how the mothers are mostly the one in desolation for the fear of her kids. An example that backs up said statement is, With her two children shivering from the cold, her hands on her breast, weeping mournfully. The mood contributes to the distress of the Africans from not only loss of land, but loss of hope. At the Gates holds the mood of faith and reliance. The narrator does not know where he is, but he remains dependent of God and knows that he will be alright as long as he knows he is doing it for Him. • 31. Gliomedin Within a neuron, neurofascin is bound ankyrin G, which is bound to Na+ channels. Somehow, the binding of neurofascin (expressed by axon) to gliomedin (expressed by the Schwann cell) is involved in the formation of nodes of Ranvier. Gliomedin is only expressed when the Schwann cell is in physical contact with the axon. Therefore, for the formation of nodes of Ranvier, three things must occur. First, the Schwann cell must make physical contact with the axon. Then, it must express gliomedin. Finally, gliomedin must form a complex with neurofascin (expressed by the axon). This was determined through a set of experiments. To determine if sodium channel clustering depended on glial cells, hippocampal cells were cultured in the absence of glial cells. This experiment showed that, in the absence of glial cells, Na+ channels were found along the entire length of the axon. They were not concentrated in clusters. Then, another experiment was conducted to determine if the node of Ranvier formation was contact dependent. In this experiment, the dorsal root ganglia were bathed in the extracellular fluid of Schwann cells. Again, nodes of Ranvier did not form. This showed that the node of Ranvier formation mechanism was contact dependent. Another experiment was done to determine if node of Ranvier formation depended on molecular signaling between the Schwann cells and the axon. In this experiment, Schwann cells on a myelinated axon were killed. The nodes of Ranvier disappeared. This showed that molecular signaling played a role in node of Ranvier formation. Akhenaten changed religion and politics within the Amarna period through his large scale religious and artistic reforms, decision to leave Thebes and make Amarna the capital and relations with third party powers in the ancient Near East. Early on in his reign Akhenaten began introducing new artistic styles, both in relation to religion and personal portrayals of the royal family. After moving the capital from Thebes to Amarna in search of new land on which to worship Aten (the God of sun/light) the artistic portrayal of the god changed to become one the most symbolic and abstract depictions of a God in Ancient Egypt (Weigall 1922, 120). The new depiction of Aten became a sun disc with long rays extending hands down to earth, and often to the royal family or the king himself. This can be thought of as symbolising the power given to the king by the Gods (Kempt 1989, 173). Akhenaten also introduced his own style of royal artwork, in which the royal family was represented in an exaggerated manner. The most notable of these exaggerations was the changes to facial features, such as the long skull and chin, and large oval eyes. This is thought to perhaps represent the separation of the royal family from everyday Egyptian people, however this contradicts with the meaning of another change to Amarna artwork, the personal, intimate portraits of the king s family life (Kempt 1989, 265). • 46. Wound Relationship Study Addressing a chronic wound requires a myriad of individuals, each with their own unique knowledge, and expertise, to contribute to complete wound healing. (1) This collaboration goes against the discipline based training instilled in schools and requires establishments to further investigate the collaboration paradigm. (2) In order for interdisciplinary teams to work effectively, elements such as trust, respect, adaptability, openness, and communication need to be effective. (1,3) In the team link study by Harris et al., a review of the current multidisciplinary teams in Australia s divisional health care system were reviewed. Although general practitioners (GP) in each division of practice had great support systems for each other, flaws were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Caregivers are trained to provide aseptic wound care, patients are closely monitored compared to their own home setting, and physicians are always nearby to reassess wounds as needed. So where do these infections come from? Literature reviews have opened the gateway to further questions and investigations in order to answer this question. Comparing multiple studies listed in table 1, there are still many unanswered questions as to where infections originate. Most studies are looking into various prevention methods and the organisms present postoperatively, but do not address the question of why these infections are occurring. Strengths and weaknesses in all studies show that one needs to evaluate the studies carefully before consideration for implementation as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Natural Selection Vs. Sexual Selection What is sexual selection? Sexual selection is the natural selection arising through preference by one sex for certain characteristics in individuals of the other sex. This means they are copulating with their other mate. Sexual selection can be dangerous in some cases depending on the rate and length of copulating. It can be so harmful to species that they may not be able to survive from it afterwards. Charles Darwin distinguished sexual selection and its various ways. He realized that sexual selection is similar to natural selection in some ways but also different in other forms of sources. Sexual selection is similar to natural selection because it enhances the male traits but different from natural selection because it does not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. River Tees Drainage Baisin Essay River Tees Drainage Baisin The river Tees flows from the Pennines in Cumbria, northwest England, to the North Sea via Tees Bay. Its length is 130 km / 80 miles. Its port, Teesport, handles in excess of 42 million tonnes of water per year. Its main tributaries are the Lune, Balder, and Greta. There are many factors affecting the drainage baiins of the River Tees, many of these are human factors. Water Barrage and Watersports: Much of the water nearing the sea is polluted with industrial waste, sewage, and chemicals. The Tees Barrage, which opened in 1995, enables a 16 km / 10 mile stretch of the river to provide clean, non tidal water. The barrage was built to improve the river s watersports ... Water levels can rise very quickly following a rain storm. Storing water in the reservoir reduces flooding in the lower course. Farming and Irigation Water: A major land uses in the upper Tees is rough grazing for sheep. The land is too steep to use machinery, the growing season too short and the soils too thin and acidic For growing crops and so not much water is needed for irigation in comparison to the River Severn. Only where the land is less steep is the pasture improved by fertilizers, the occasional crop is grown, requiring some irigation water from the Tees. Hydro Electric power: There are no power plants along the Tees. There are also many natural factors affecting the hydrology of the River Tees drainage basin, these include: Geology: There is a succession of falls, where the river traverses a hard series of black basaltic rocks, the water flows fast her due to the steep down slope, the impermiable smooth rocks also allow fast flow and no infiltration, and so at times of heavy percipitation the water level at these points in the river will rise sharply and the power and speed of the river will increase. At flatter areas of these basaltic rocks the river can flood easily. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
