Fear of public speaking Essay
Your chest is tight and you feel like you re on fire. Your chest is tight ant you re burning up. The flash
cards in your hands are crumpled from you squeezing them obsessively. You look up and see dozens
of eyes staring at you, waiting expectantly. Taking a deep breath, you stumble through the speech.
When it s finally over, you practically run back to your seat, cheeks flaming bright red. You slump
down, already dreading the next time you ll have to deal with your upmost fear: public speaking. For
as long as I can remember, public speaking has always been one of my greatest weaknesses. Whether
it s a simple in class presentation or a speech in front of an auditorium filled with people, I can barely
get my words out from the anxiety and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I used the search engine Google with the search term public speaking fear and it brought up a great
deal of interesting websites pertaining to public speaking. The first one I decided to peruse was 5 Tips
to Reduce the Fear of Public Speaking on Psychology Today s website. I learned that public speaking
is the number one fear in America, while the fear of death is second in line. This means that we re
more afraid of speaking in public than we are of dying. I also learned five tips on how to reduce public
speaking nervousness.
The first one was Don t Expect Perfection from Yourself. No one is perfect but when it comes time to
speak in public, some of us pick at every little flaw we think we make. We blow up our imperfections
yet ignore the good things. Honestly, though, even the greatest and most experience public speakers
can make a lot of mistakes. The difference is, when they do, they re able to gracefully recover and
keep going as if nothing happened. That s one of the keys to success: keep going gracefully. Most of
the time, the audience won t notice most of your mistakes unless you make them obvious by stopping
your speech, breaking down and admitting your mistakes. You just have to carry through with poise
and let yourself not be perfect.
The second tip was Avoid Equating Public Speaking to Your Self Worth. Basically, if you re a
successful professional who s worked hard for where they are in life right now, you

Essay about Racism in Family Guy Supports Stereotypes
In today s society, a minstrel show would unquestionably be pointed out as a racist act. However, if
stereotypes were used in comedic TV shows it becomes more uncertain as to whether or not it is
appropriate. With the popular use of satire in the current pop culture, the line between racism and
harmless satire is harder to define. Shows like Family Guy play on a lot of racial stereotypes but do
not always receive attention on those jokes. The show is often written off as just a raunchy animated
show, so people expect the outrageous humor and take the jokes less seriously. Racist jokes has been
muddled with satire by putting it in a comical context and in a different medium such as animation.
There needs to be a more defined line between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ahsan Haque of IGN criticized that the episode was not an instant classic but still praised it for its
moments of creative genius (Haque). The episode received multiple reviews similar to this one. This
demonstrates how the offensive humor is often brushed aside. There were no comments made about
the portrayal of the Native Americans because of the fact that Family Guy is presented as a comedic
animated show; its irreverence is what attracts audiences. The episode was not making a comment on
a social issue. The satirization of Native Americans served no other purpose than for being the punch
line of every joke. This sort of humor is not as upfront as something like blackface so it is not
recognized immediately that it is offensive. Due to the fact that it is a comedic animated show it is not
taken as seriously. For a show with millions of viewers making these sort of jokes makes it seem like
it is acceptable to make fun of other races. In doing so these stereotypes are going to persist in society.
The racist jokes that are often made in Family Guy obviously does not bother its viewers. Family Guy
has garnered such a huge fan base that when the character Brian was killed off it caused a huge uproar
on social media. An article written by Danielle Cox asked if the fans attachment to a cartoon character
any different from other TV show characters? (Cox). This deals with a death of a character not
anything controversial, but it is

Analysis Of The Case Friedrichs V. California Teachers...

Donations of Dues There is no such thing as freedom of choice unless there is freedom to refuse,
stated David Hume. The case Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association, which just recently began
oral hearings the week of January 11th, centers on the questions of whether union dues are inherently
political and if they are... whether employees who are not union members can be compelled to pay
them (KQED News). Those in favor of the plaintiff, Rebecca Friedrichs, a teacher from Orange
County, believe that employees who are not union members should not have to pay union dues
because the CTA cannot require its nonmembers to pay for political causes, seeing as doing so
compels them to identify with a public policy cause, a violation of their First Amendment rights.
Those against the eradication of union dues for non union members believe the fees are necessary
because the union has a legal duty to represent all teachers at the bargaining table, even those who are
not part of the union; if nonmembers can be represented by the union without paying any fee, there
would be a strong incentive to become a free rider and not join the union, leading to a weakened force
at the negotiation table. Because this requirement of dues is a direct violation of the Constitution,
teachers that aren t members of the California Teachers Association should not have to support the
union and its

Trail Of Tears
However, murder is murder whether committed by the villain skulking in the dark or by uniformed
men stepping to the strains of martial music. Murder is murder, and somebody must answer.
Somebody must explain the streams of blood that flowed in the Indian country in the summer of 1838.
Somebody must explain the 4000 silent graves that mark the trail of the Cherokees to their exile
(Charles River Editors). On the Trail of Tears, many murders were carried out. Although these
murders may not have been perpetrated by one person directly, the bodies of the trials were
devastating. The Trail of Tears was a series of Indian removal over eight years which involved the

The Trail of Tears was a sequence of forced tribal removals from certain lands to another. The impact
that this had on American society in the nineteenth century is little due to the fact that most of the
country was white whom had more privilege and were becoming big landowners or plantation owners.
The relocations were enforced and the Indians were required to move as a result of their want to
remain as a nation. To these tribes, family and relation was everything, so they would rather be thrown
off land than become split up. Today, the Trail of Tears is important because of the more frequent use
of freedom of speech and the fights for equality from the United States citizens. It is important to
address these points in history to use as an example of what we, as a country, should avoid. A trail of

The Convergence Of Accounting Principals
The Convergence of Accounting Principals
When it comes to financial accounting, there are two sets of standards that seem to have incongruent
rule and principal based views on the way things should be done. These standards include the
Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP), which is rule based, and International Financial
Reporting Standards (IFRS), which is principal based (Waybright p.260). Despite opposing views, the
two have been attempting to fully converge since 2002. Historically, the concept of converging
companies has been around since the 1950 s when the term harmonization was introduced.
Harmonization was coined to reduce the differences among accounting principals (FASB). Then, in
1990, the term harmonization was replaced by convergence.
The Convergence Project between the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the
Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), started to make way in October 2002 when the
Norwalk Agreement publicized the merging of both sets of standards. The Norwalk Agreement is a
signed understanding by both FASB and IASB to ensure the compatibility of financial standards and
future programs. These two committees, along with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC),
have been working together to improve the accounting standards of GAAP and IFRS. The IFRS
includes most European countries, Canada, Mexico, China, and Russia , (Waybright p.259), while
GAAP is only used in the U.S. The Norwalk Agreement pledged to

Brian Snare Analysis
The intricate universe of mergers is often a chaotic endeavor for many musicians, one where few
artists have found success unless that artist s name is Brian Eno. But let it be a pair of Canadian
producers to subvert this notion. A master at exercising the dichotomy between electronic
intelligentsia and the dark confines of breakcore, Venetian Snares (Aaron Funk) teams up with prolific
producer Daniel Lanois, whose name is attached to projects like U2 s The Joshua Tree and Brian Eno
s Apollo Atmospheres Soundtracks. As two preeminent musical minds come together to bounce ideas
off one another, Venetian Snares and Daniel Lanois self titled project witnesses the duo pulling in their
respective sonic backgrounds to devise contemporary terrains of sound while pushing each other s
unique talents into untouchable acclivities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although largely improvised, almost every composition off this album follows a similar ebb n flow
like structure. Take the track Night Mxcmpv1 P74 for instance, Lanois initiates the listener s
experience with swathes of ambient bliss but is then kicked into full lunacy as Funk s zany drill and
bass peppers in and out of a veil of shimmering chords. This unusual marriage of synthetic styles has
only been accomplished by one other electronic artist prior, by none other than Aphex Twin with his
masterful body of work. With this unlikely masterpiece, Funk, a pillar of IDM, does what he does best
and finds that menacing place where synthetic drum and bass repeat, speed up, then abruptly
punctuate at the mercy of industrial whirls of high hats and paradoxically cool

The Creation Of The Presidency
The Creation of the Presidency by Charles C. Thach is a historical analysis of the development of
American Constitutional principles. The author begins by stating that the basis for American
government is one that balances individual freedom and governmental strength. The moral
foundations of American government are founded on the ideas of natural rights, government by
contract, consent of the governed, and the right to revolt. However, the Revolutionary War at the time
illuminated the need for a strong government that was able to act in times of crisis. This created the
idea that government was a necessary evil for the founders. Thach examines the failures and success
of State constitutions, and the national legislature to show how limited government was transformed
from political theory to positive law in the United States. In politics there is a lingering question of
what determines good government, Thach s analysis on the American system prove that good
government must contain energy and limitations.
The United States of America was founded on a distrust of monarchical governments. In response to
this, the Articles of Confederation vested a majority of power into the hands of the legislature. On
principle, a democratic government seems to be one that would most accurately embody the principles
of limited government. However, good government is one that not only protects individual rights but
as Thach shows is efficient. In his examination of the national government,

Online Gambling And Online Casino
Blog 4 What can players expect more of when it comes to online casino gaming in 2016?
Considering it s January, it is no shock to see that online casino industry analysts are clambering over
themselves to issue predictions for the upcoming 12 months. While some of the predictions are
obvious, it seems that some online casino operators are focussing more on what players want.
Speaking on the matter, we have headed to both the polls and the online casino portals to discover
exactly what that is.
Calls for Anonymity
Big brother society has become an issue throughout the globe, as people are clearly worried about less
than honest government entities. Online casino players have showcased clear concerns regarding
privacy and following reports of NSA spying on British citizens. What this has brought attention to is
the fact that some online casinos just weren t doing enough to safeguard valued members. While steps
have been made to close the curtains as it were, it seems that online casino players are calling for more
of the same in 2016. Privacy was a hot topic last year and it looks like it will remain so this year too.
Calls for a Challenge
In what was a huge reveal by Caesars Entertainment, it was detailed that millennial players found a
large percentage of online casino slot games boring. Gary Thompson said in his statement, Through
Caesars Entertainment backed research we have located a serious problem within the industry. Reports
show that younger players feel that

The Short Story Marionettes, Inc.
Literary Analysis: Short Stories
Technology is very essential in our everyday lives because it makes work and day to day activities
easier. With technology, people can travel to different places and communicate with people that are
not close by. Technology is used to help advance our daily lives. Having technology is a privilege but
when you abuse the privilege you bring forth a dreadful outcome.
The short story Marionettes, Inc. shows how technology is a great tool and a privilege to have. It was
used to help Braling deal with a situation that he didn t want to deal with. Braling was married to a
women who overdoes it, she wanted to be all over him all of the time and it kept getting worse. It s
unfortunate for Braling because he married his wife for the wrong reasons. When Braling married his
wife he was only thinking about his business, his mother and father. When you marry someone for the
wrong reason there are consequences that you have to deal with and the consequence are not good and
it s not something that you expect to happen.
In today s age when we marry someone for the wrong reason it usually ends with a divorce and a large
pay out. With advance technology, Braling went to a company, Marionettes, Inc. , and had a clone of
himself made. He uses the clone in place of himself to get away from his overbearing wife. He wanted
to go on a vacation to Rio. For a while his plan and the clone worked the way he anticipated, but there

Vitamins
Soluble Vitamins
Katharine Jones
SCI/241
September 22, 2013
Water soluble and fat soluble vitamins are both needed in order for our bodies to not only survive but
to thrive as well. Water soluble vitamins are vitamins that are stored within our bodies and are needed
daily. If we consume too much water soluble vitamins they will then be excreted through our urine.
Water soluble vitamins are metabolized by the process of digestion and then absorption. Fat soluble
vitamins are vitamins that are soluble in fats. Foods cooked with these vitamins will not lose their
vitamins after being cooked. Vitamins A, D, E, and K are considered the fat soluble vitamins. There
are many sources which you can find these vitamins in. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Literature Review Of M M Theorem
Literature review
The collaboration between the university professors and Nobel Prize winners, Franco Modigliani and
Merton Miller in 1958 have resulted the first and one of the most important theories in the field of
capital structure. Franco Modigliani and Merton Miller (MM) have developed a theory that helps us to
understand how taxes and financial distress affect a company s capital structure decision. There were
different unclear issues that M M theorem used their basis in building their assumption. For instance,
would a change in financing mix increase the value of a company. There were many other issues taken
into consideration which result the two main assumptions as well as there were many other
assumptions added in the coming years after the M M propositions, which have tried to complement ...

Hence, before M M theorem there were no generally an accepted theory (Luigi Sorin, 2011, p. 315).
Modigliani and Miller start by assuming that the firm has a particular set of expected cash flows. Once
the company decides to finance its assets, by selecting a certain proportion of debt and equity, all it
does is to split the cash flows between investors. Based on the assumption taken into consideration by
Modigliani and Miller that the investors and firm have equal access to financial markets, which allows
them for homemade leverage. The authors also pointed out that the investor can create any leverage
they wanted but not offered or the investor can get rid of any leverage that the firm took on but was
not wanted. This theory was proposed under perfect capital market conditions (without taxes,
transaction costs and information asymmetry) value of any firm is independent of its financing
decisions (Modigliani and Miller 1958). In a simplified context, the value of the firm will not be
affected by the leverage of the

Similarities Between Casey And Goliath
In the poem Casey at Bat and story David and Goliath, a comparison of David and Casey shows
differences and similarities. One of the similarities is that they both faced giants. David faced the
literal giant Goliath. A verse in the Bible says The Philistine army had a hero named Goliath who was
from the town of Gath and was over nine feet tall. Casey s giant was him overcoming his ego. An
example of this is, There was pride in Casey s bearing and a smile on Casey s face. Another similarity
is that they had a goal in mind the entire time. David s goal was to defeat Goliath and bring glory to
God. On the other hand Casey s goal was to win the baseball game. Some examples of this are, You ve

The Age Of New Imperialism
The Age of New Imperialism in Britain was a time of prosperity and total domination. Compared to
previous years of imperialism, this period was focused primarily on benefitting the colonial power,
Britain, instead of establishing new settlements. Even though the British imperialism of the late 19th
century/early 20th century brought great wealth, knowledge, and technological advancements to the
country, it was at the expense of many other people in the empire. Britain, and Europe as a whole, had
to find a way to justify their superiority over these other countries subsequently leading scientists
decided to use their background and knowledge to create disciplines that had racist ideologies at the
root. These pseudo sciences were constructed to rationalize the imperialism during the 19th century.
This paper will discuss some of the most influential sciences produced during the late 19th century,
including social Darwinism, eugenics, and phrenology, that were used to justify British Imperialism
and how they supported imperialism.
White is the supreme race, non White people are inferior, White people are the ones with all the
achievements in the world these ideologies and theories, though formally constructed in the late
1800s, were created from discussions long before. The idea of race superiority has existed since the
15th and 16th centuries, early days of African slavery, but at that time it was supported by religion and
God. In the early 16th century, a Swiss

The Reasonableness Of Christian Faith
Summa Theologiae was written to display the reasonableness of Christian faith and to train future
teachers in guiding others through Christianity, (Lecture, 11.14.2016) whereby one ultimately reaches
true happiness. While Christians steadily find pleasure in their acceptance of God, Aquinas maintains
that perfect happiness is distinct from this, both in what it entails and how it is achieved. Aquinas
believes that humans cannot be entirely happy until fully understanding God, the original cause of
their own being, which is impossible until reuniting with God in life after death. Humans cannot be
truly happy until their intellect is fulfilled, which is only possible through understanding God. The
human intellect instinctively seeks to understand the cause of things, and will not be satisfied simply
knowing that such a cause exists (S.Th. II, Q.3, A.8). Aquinas is optimistic about the ability of human
reason, and believes that unassisted logic can reveal and defend crucial platforms of the Christian
faith, such as God s existence (S.Th. I, Q.2, A.2). God is demonstrated fore mostly through His
creations, including humans themselves and their intellects (S.Th. I, Q.2, A.2). Since every effect
depends upon its cause, (S.Th. I, Q.2, A.2) a human s awareness of their own life on earth
subsequently proves the life of some entity which has caused the human to be. Aquinas, and the
Christian faith, identify this original cause as God. However, Aquinas acknowledges that there is a

Boundaries, Symmetry and Continuity in Radcliffe s The...
Below is a passage from I.2 of Radcliffe s The Mysteries of Udolpho concerning the concept of
precepts in relation to the characters of St. Aubert and his daughter Emily: I have attempted to teach
you from your earliest youth, the duty of self command [...] not only as it preserves us from the
various and dangerous temptations that call us from rectitude and virtue, but as it limits the
indulgences which are termed virtuous, yet which, extended beyond a certain boundary are
vicious...All excess is vicious; even that sorrow, which is amiable in its origin, becomes a selfish and

This logic of symmetry and deformity is located in the depiction of Nature a landscaped variety and
the characters relationships to their natural environment. The environs of La Vallée are characterized
by the qualities of the picturesque landscape, and every angle of the house looks out on some prospect
(2 4). In this landscape there is natural symmetry the improvements that St. Aubert makes to the
ground around the chateau are few and conform to a taste for the beautiful (6) that is formed by nature
rather than learned (see how St. Aubert conceives of Valancourt [35]). During the tour through the
Pyrenees, many prospects are remarked upon, but so too is the absence of a prospect (28 29).
Prospects are what make a landscape it is from a view large enough to incorporate diverse elements of
a scene and a variety of distances that a landscape (comprised of foreground, middle ground, and a
background) emerges. The idea of prospect is involved with the concept of perspective, and
perspective (as it relates to the way one interacts with anything) brings us back to the ideas of taste
and precept. But taste, precept, and prospect are in turn all linked to a consciousness of past, present,
and future. Thus St. Aubert, when making improvements in his estate or in his daughter is always
referencing them to his past experiences at La Vallee (2, 4), or to his hopes and fears for

Sociological Aspects Of Consumerism
ONE
My purpose for this is not to give solutions to fix this problem, but rather to shed light on it because i
do believe this is a problem that we are not aware of, as a culture. In today s world I believe we no
longer value conversations or acts of kindness or human interaction in general. its all about things. We
have become mindless consumers and are so obsessed with things, stuff, junk, call it what you want,
its controlling our lives.
TWO
There are a few ways in which one could interpret the word consumerism and its effects, economic,
environmental etc. but I am going focus on the psychological and sociological aspects of it, So what is
consumerism, how does it affect you? And why should you care? The sociology definition of
consumerism is the belief that personal well being and happiness depend on the level of personal
consumption. Essentially, the problem isn t consumption, it s consumerism, there is a very important
difference. If consumption is the act, consumerism is the social system which exists when that act
becomes defining of a society. And it s consumerism that causes the problems. Consumerism takes the
act of consumption and turns it into the defining act of our role as social beings.

People tend to measure their quality of life based on the amount of things they have. In extreme cases,
people can develop serious mental issues due to this, such as Oniomania which is an obsessive or

Evaluation Of A New Business Manager
If you re a new business owner and have just begun accepting credit cards for payments, you don t
want to be caught unaware of the regulations involved in handling sensitive personal data. The
consequences of improper procedures could be penalties, fees and even termination of your card
processing account. Read on to learn about PCI regulations and what you need to do to remain
compliant.
What is PCI?
PCI stands for Payment Card Industry. When referring to the subject of PCI compliance, you are
actually talking about a set of industry standards known as PCI DSS, where the DSS stands for Data
Security Standards. These standards were designed to ensure that businesses handle credit card
information in a secure manner.
The first version of data security standards was released in December 2004 to combat the increasing
rate at which cardholder information was being stolen online. The PCI DSS was established in 2006
with the formation of the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council (PCI SSC). The council
focuses on improving security of credit card transactions as technology and market trends change the
security concerns in the industry.
The PCI SSC was created by the major credit card brands, including MasterCard, Visa, American
Express and Discover; however, the council is not responsible for PCI compliance. It s the payment
brands that actually enforce the standards.
Who needs to comply with PCI security standards?
In short, any organization or business that

Roman Roads Research Paper
At the peak of the Roman Empire, there were over 250,000 miles of roads that connected nearby cities
to Rome. Over 50,000 miles were paved roads that allowed quicker and safer travel for the Roman
army, officials, messengers, and trading of goods. The road system was much like modern day roads
including mile markers, inns, restaurants, and protection. With a simple yet advanced design, Roman
roads paved the way for Roman conquest and a superior authority throughout the Roman Empire.
These roads allowed for faster and easier transportation, encouraging people to journey near and far.
Although the Romans persecuted early Christians, Roman roads played a vital role in the spread of
Christianity which would eventually spread throughout the Roman ... Show more content on

Along the Roman roads were state operated lodgings and way stations. Stations were established
(stationes), some of them only to change horses (mutationes), others for overnight stops (mansiones).
Augustus was the one that ordered the entire road network inventory, charging M. Agrippa with that
responsibility (Zaharia, Aurel). Located every ten miles was horse changing stations, where
government travelers could exchange out their tired horse or donkey. These were particularly
important for tax collectors and message delivery, as they were required to travel great distances at
rapid speed. Stopping frequently at these changing stations could allow travelers to go three times
further than maintain the same horse. Positioned approximately every twenty miles were hotels that
offered all the necessities for an overnight stop.
Roman roads were also well protected and patrolled by smaller branches of the Roman army. Most
often the soldiers that were assigned to patrol the roads were lower ranking soldiers known as
stationarii. Stationarii soldiers were usually positioned at a post for an average term of two years.
Along with handling local protection and intervention these soldiers were required to oversee the
nearby roads. Watchtowers and post could be found in high traffic as well as isolated areas to offer
assistance to weak travelers, transmit messages, and look out for runaway

Stereotypes In M. Butterfly, By David Henry Hwang
M. Butterfly is an award winning play written by David Henry Hwang in 1988. In this play, a young
French diplomat by the name of Rene Gallimard, falls in love with a man whom he believed to be a
woman, by the name of Song Liling. This play is based off of a real couple who s real names are
Bernard Boursicot and Shi Peipu. Rene Gallimard sees Song Liling, for the first time at an opera
show. After they begin seeing each other, he gives her the nickname of his butterfly . From there, their
love grows into a twenty year relationship, until Rene Gallimard discovers that his butterfly is truly a
man as well as a spy for the Chinese government. Overall, the play conveys themes of racial, sexual,

embodying a colonialist attitude . In other words, it s the view of Asia from outside countries, that are
usually stereotypical. From a western point of view, oriental women are viewed as innocent, delicate,
sexual, doll like beings. Song is aware of the stereotypes, and performs the role of an oriental woman,

Loman American Dream
In Death of a Salesman, by Arthur Miller, a man named Willy Loman struggles with the changing
American dynamic and his impending mental deterioration. Loman is a sixty three year old salesman
during the late 1940 s. He is the father of two sons, Biff and Happy, and the husband to Linda Loman.
During this time period, Americans were still adjusting to the post war era where two generations of
American ideas clashed, the traditional and modern American Dream. The old, traditional dream
included working one s way up to success through popularity and wealth. The new American Dream
does not focus on jobs such as a salesman but sees low skill jobs, like a carpenter, as successful and
making one accomplished in life. Willy Loman s forthcoming mental ... Show more content on

The two characters in the play that were wrong about why Willy failed are his wife, Linda Loman, and
his brother in law, Charley. Charley believed Willy was a real salesman, one who knew that if you can
not sell you can not succeed. He saw Loman falling apart and figured it was due to the new American
generation. If it was not for the changing times, Willy would not be confused and would have been
able to find, and achieve, his American Dream for both himself and his family. The article, The
Relationship between Willy and Linda , explains Loman and his wife s relationship. Linda is
completely devoted to her husband, yet Willy treats her with little respect. Loman often cut her off or
spoke down to his wife when she would try to help a situation. When Biff talks about seeing his old
boss for a job, Linda started to say, Oliver always thought the highest of him . . . (Miller 65) until
Willy cut in, Will you let me talk? (Miller 65). Even with the disrespect to Linda, she decides to blame
everyone else for her husband s failures and issues, not fully understanding that Willy s mental
deterioration is from his realization of not fulfilling an American Dream. Anytime Willy wants to
evaluate himself honestly, Linda just tells lies to release his tension and increase his incorrect views

Research Paper On Lean Six Sigma
Now a day s global market in the world and all companies are looking up making new improvements
that drive bottom line results. In that process all originations and companies are turning to process
improvement methodologies such as lean six sigma. Continual improvement, as one of the objectives
of a quality management system is achieved by the improvement of all processes and activities at a
particular stage of the production cycle. Continual process improvement is also the only way how to
survive and succeed among competitors. The management of the company will always be looking for
opportunities that will enhance the effectiveness of the company s processes. Lean Six Sigma is one of
the significant methodologies of quality management, this seeks to increase productivity and improve
quality of process outputs. As a customer oriented managerial strategy, it emphasizes that imperfection

The basic principle of improvement by the processes of Six Sigma methodology is by the reduction of
diffusion. The six sigma approach aims to reduce defect levels to only a few parts per million for an
organization s key products and processes. The Six Sigma philosophy is based on the fact that all
processes from design, through to manufacturing and to services provided to customers, display
aberrances, which may result in product errors that cost time and money. These errors are variations of
processes that can be reduced by various methods in order for the real cause of the problem to be

American Film Noir
There have been several debates over a long period of time concerning the validity of film noir as a
distinct genre. Essays and books have debated the term for years using various criteria and rubrics to
back up their respective positions on the subject. As the 21st century brings new and creative trends
from screenwriting to post production and everything in between, the boundaries of noir become even
less certain. One may even find a fitting parallel between the noir protagonist s ambiguous and
perilous quest with that of the hapless and naïve academic in search of an unequivocal definition of
noir itself. This essay aims at summarizing the evolution of American film noir to present day, by
using seminal works to determine how these films have become influenced by American cinematic
trends of postmodern narrative structures and subjectivity.
History of Noir
The argument to be made is that, with the emergence of cinematic technological advances coupled
with postmodernism s abandonment of meta narratives and traditional socio cultural identities,
filmmakers are digging even deeper into the dark recesses of the human consciousness and using noir
as a platform. It is not very surprising that to date no other genre relies more on the fragility and
temperamental nature of the human condition more. Oftentimes characters in a noir narrative are
either vindicated or condemned based

Essay On Malaria
Several species can cause human malaria and most of these species have drug resistant making
treatment approach highly dependable on the species that caused it. Multi drug resistant Plasmodium
falciparum malaria had been treated with many different, both single and combinations of drugs. The
most common type that is known to be effective is the artemisinin based combination therapy also
known as ACT; a combination of artermisinin and its derivatives and longer acting antimalarial drugs.
Studies conducted by Pousibet Puerto et al. shows the effectiveness of ACT treatment to those with
uncomplicated malaria from Plasmodium falciparum compared to those getting the classic treatment,

The average hospital stay and parasite clearance period for those treated with the ACT treatments were
2.67 days and 24 hours, respectively. While the other group treated with quinine had an average
hospital stay of 3.96 days and a parasite clearance period of 48 hours. Uncomplicated P. falciparum
malaria can be effectively and safely managed with ACT. ACT treatment reduces hospital stays and
produces a more rapid parasite clearance than the classic treatments, resulting in overall healthcare
saving. In addition, various articles that have been published regarding the use of artemisinin
derivatives have shown superior results compared to other treatments resulting in as the first line drug
recommended in the main national and international guidelines. Quinine is now relegated as the
second line treatment in case ACT is unavailable or in cases where contraindications exist.
Combining two different drugs with different mechanisms of actions makes ACTs the most effective
antimalarial medicines available today. It has been adopted by World Health Organization as the first
line treatment for uncomplicated malaria such as P. falciparum. Brunetti (2016) suggested that the
ACT treatment dosages for uncomplicated P. falciparum are as follows:
Artemether plus lumefantrine: Doses are given twice daily for 3 days depending on body weight, as
follows: o 5 to 15kg: 20 + 120 mg o 15 to 25kg: 40 + 240 mg o 25 to 35kg: 60 + 360 mg

Heat Fracture on Rocks
Background
Heat fracture is when an increase in volume is observed, due to an increase in temperature. Simply
meaning that while a material is being heated, the rise in temperature causes it to take up more space.
Heat fracture doesn t only deal with high temperatures, it also deals with the effects of cooling on a
material. If cooling occurs then the opposite of expansion occurs as well, the material will begin to
shrink or decrease in size. Continuous heating and cooling will eventually lead to stress and that
makes the material break or fracture. When the material going through this type of weathering is
considered being fractured, it means it s dealing with cracking or breaking of the ... Show more

It was believed that if the amount of time that the rock went through heating and cooling increased,
then the weight of the rock would decrease because while the rock goes through more heating and
cooling eventually it will fracture causing the weight to decrease. This is called heat fracture. The data
gathered did prove the hypothesis to be correct. For the longer trials with more minutes, the rock s
weight did decrease more rather than the shorter amount of trials. For example, the one minute trial
barely had a 0.6g difference proving our hypothesis correct, while the 15 minute trial had a significant
change in the rock s weight due to the longer time experiment. The graph seemed to gradually increase
according to the longer trials. The only outlier was the last trial because it had such a small change

the years. One of the newer ways potential employers are recruiting is through social media. In a 2015
survey conducted by Society for Human Resource Management, 84 percent of organizations are using
some type of social media for recruiting (Maurer, 2016). The study also found that organizations are
looking for candidates not actively looking for a new job, or employees also called passive candidates
(Maurer, 2016). From Facebook to LinkedIn, social media has been used for networking, branding and
reputation, job searching, job posting, and screening potential employees. Platforms of Social Media
There are various different platforms for social media used in workforce planning. For example,
Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn are the major social media platforms used. LinkedIn is the preferred
platform for organization due it being a sole professional website. LinkedIn has become the most
popular and effective site for recruiting (Maurer, 2016). The main purpose of LinkedIn is recruiting
and networking within companies. Direct contact can be made with a recruiter, potential employee or
company without applying for the position. Recruiters can also review profiles and invite promising

The Pleistocene epoch was a time period of almost 2...
The Pleistocene epoch was a time period of almost 2 million years of repeating glaciation around the
globe. This epoch was known for its megafauna that roamed the Earth during the last great ice age.
Although this was a time of mass extinction for species that could not adapt to the climate changes,
many mammals and vertebrates that can be identified today were found during this time
(Zimmermann, 2013). The Pleistocene epoch is an important foundation for understanding life that
exists today, including carnivores, herbivores as well as the evolution of humans.

It is estimated that mammoths had the largest biome on the plant at an estimated 1 square kilometer
per mammoth (Zimov, 2014). Herbivores of the time ranged from under 45 kilograms to well over
1000 kg, making for a wide range of diversity within the speciation (graph below). While many of
these mammals were preyed upon by the carnivores, some were simply too large to be killed by single
predators, causing them to be relatively immune to predation (Rodriguez, Alberdi, Azanza, Prado,
2006). (Rodriguez, Alberdi, Azanza, Prado, 2006)
The herbivores of course needed grasses and trees to feed on though, which became difficult as
glaciation occurred cyclically causing for many to die from lack of
livable environments. As the herbivore mammals died off, so did the predators that relied on them as a
food source. While many of the herbivores became extinct during this time, others survived in certain
places better than others. Native horses of North America for example existed before the end of the
Pleistocene but disappear from the fossil record in that area. Horses as well as many other mammals in
a similar situation still exist around the globe but were wiped out from their original habitats.
In addition to carnivore and herbivore mammals, there were also many different species of birds and
reptiles that existed. A common misconception is that dinosaurs lived during this time, but they had
gone extinct some 60 million years before the Pleistocene began. Some species of

The World Of The Eastern Hemisphere
Before the renowned expeditions of Christopher Columbus, or Ferdinand Magellan, the Polo family
were the original explorers whose triumphs and success stories inspired future travelers to discover the
unknown world of the Eastern hemisphere. During the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, Europe was
in need of an intervention, something to bring life to the dull communities throughout the continent.
Marco Polo brought exactly this, and contributed so much more with his travels across the world,
bringing back religious morals, new spices, new languages, and new commercial goods that were
never heard of before. Although his intention might not have been as significant as his impact, the
obstacles he encountered and traversed through as written throughout his book, sparked an interest and
desire for international trade and traveling for Europeans to come. His unique spark and impressive
capabilities proved he was a tough man, especially with the voyages he survived, the diseases he
avoided, the country he governed, the bandit ambushes he fought, and imprisonment he endured. Not
only was he able to document his journey to various places, but he was also able to spread his
experience throughout Europe, thereby immortalizing his name.

Oppression is defined as, the exercise of authority or power in a burdensome, cruel, or unjust manner
(dictionary.com), and is found all around the world. There is essentially two parts to oppression: the
oppressor, who is demonstrating his power by displaying cruelty towards the second part of
oppression, the oppressed. The oppressed take part in offenses made by the oppressor, that usually
contain a cruel, and unfair burden towards them. The world has demonstrated this profound
relationship since human history first began, not only in their way of life, but in literature. For

Panem is significantly lacking fellowship and liberation while under the oppressive rule of the Capitol.
People are suffering and working endlessly each and every day inside the districts, while everybody in
the Capitol is living a superb and wealthy life. In order for this to change, Panem needs to reflect on
these views, and change their way of life. In the novel, Peeta says, Only I keep wishing I could think
of a way to... to show the Capitol they don t own me. That I m more than just a piece in their games
(Collins 142). He has already reflected the lack of liberation in Panem, and is now trying to envision a
way to fix it. This needs to be the mentality of everybody in Panem. Cutting out oppression, and
increasing fellowship, liberation, and solidarity, will disembody the life they are living now, and

Paulo Freire also says, It is only when the oppressed find the oppressor out and become involved in
the organized struggle for liberation that they begin to believe in themselves. This discovery cannot be

every play, there are various players (baseball players, coaches, team managers and owners) with
different goals and payoffs, and thousands of pitch by pitch decisions are made in course of an at bat,

the optimal choice for Leyland is to choose Porcello against Ortiz with lowest BA .286. However, the
situation here is not that simple. As Ortiz representing tie run, minimizing his slugging rate would be
more essential than his batting average because a long hit (slugging) would cause greater damage;
Tigers was 5 1 lead which was situation that single is more acceptable than extra base hit because a
single might only cause they lost 2 runs and a extra base hit might cause 3 or 4 runs. Thus, considering

Relationship Between Media And Social Networks
Whether you want to or not, it is essential to engage in relationship marketing now. It is important to
build relationships with people who are actively talking about your niche and looking for answers to
their problems. While many people are still searching for answers through the search engines, most
people are hanging out in forums and on social networks. If you can create relationships with the right
people, then your business has a much higher chance of being successful.
The problem is that most of us don t have a lot of time to market on both forums and social networks,
so it is important to find the most effective place to actively participate and build relationships. Which
one is right for you? There are a few things to consider.
You Have To Enjoy Using The Platform
Whether you choose to do marketing through forums or social networks, it is important that you enjoy
the atmosphere and the way you interact with others. If you don t, then you will not willingly devote
your time to interacting and building relationships on that platform, and the people you interact with
will feel as though they are being marketed to, which is not what relationship marketing is all about.
For instance, social networking requires you to not only interact with your stuff, but also interact with
other people s stuff a lot. If you don t really enjoy commenting on relevant posts, interacting with
relevant people, or promoting other people s relevant content, then you may find a

Editha Character Analysis
Sometimes the consequences of war are overlooked because of the circumstances. In this story,
William Dean Howells uses his characters to convey his own views on war. One can easily tell that he
was in no way a supporter. He does an outstanding job demonstrating the many reasons war is
harmful. Through the main character of his story Editha , William Dean Howells reveals that war is
not glorious, but is instead destructive.
Editha s character conveys the ignorance of the common people by highlighting the impractical ideas
she has about the war. Her beliefs gave a false hope and an unrealistic expectation as to what the
ramifications of war actually are. From evidence in the story, one would infer that the story was set

Not only does war impact American families, but also America s enemies families. War is
heartbreaking, so it is unsettling that Editha chose to ignore the consequences of war just because
George is fighting under the American flag. When the two were discussing the war, Editha states that
there are no two sides anymore and there is nothing now but our country (Howells). As long as
America is first, she has no regards for anyone else in the world. She is justifying the murder of people
in the name of American patriotism. This almost makes the lives taken during war seem less valuable,
which is unacceptable. Through a letter that Editha wrote to George, she affirms her unawareness
regarding war. In the letter, she states that if George does not enlist, she will break off the engagement
because the man she would marry must be devoted to his country first (Free). Editha lives in Northern
New York, where it is difficult to see the repercussions of war. Because of this, Editha does not seem
to care that war affects every country involved, not just America. At the end of the story when Editha
visits the Gearson family, Mrs. Gearson remarks you thought it would be all right for my George, your
George, to kill the sons of those miserable mothers and the husbands of those girls that you would

The Invention Of The Driverless Car
In this day and age, we as humans must accept that there are going to be many cultural changes. No
doubt that we persist to create new, mind blowing technology almost every year, dislodging manifold
new ideas. As a matter of fact, in early 2000, the first smartphone was introduced, charming the world.
At that point, who would have ever predicted that someday we would be carrying small, handheld
computers in our pockets? However, the first computer was introduced in 1946. Although the
computer was the size of an entire room and weighed 50 tons, it came as a shock to the world that this
was even achievable. In fact, as living organisms, it is in our DNA to adapt and evolve to our better
selves. Now, in the year 2017, we have announced the invention of a driverless car. Strangely enough,
the idea of a normal car would have been crazy in 1000. In addition, this driverless car could bring
about a better, more advanced version of our lifestyle. The first reason that the new driverless car is
extremely beneficial is how you can ride inside of the car without controlling it. The passage states,

Intergovernmental organizations (IGOs) are defined by Kegley (2009) as institutions created and

the basis of involving states interests. In other words, states utilize community of interest to balance
the international situation between neighborhoods. According to Kegley (2009), a global trend in
world politics is the spectacular growth of IGOs. The European Union, as an example of IGOs, is the

According to Guiso and his partners (2004), the financial integration should increase the supply of
finance in the less financially developed countries of the integrating area. So those six countries
involving in same financial integration share the same interests and also stimulate each other to
enlarge their markets, at the beginning of three organizations. They assisted each other aiming to
manage their financial problems, especially material sharing by the European Coal and Steel
Community. In addition, financial integration is likely to spur the efficiency of the financial
intermediaries and markets of less financially developed countries (Guiso, 2004).
Actually, since the late 1960s, the three original EU institutions have shared a common organization
and have enlarged the EU s mission as they came to be called the European Community. (Kegley,
2009) Based on this large community, the other more European countries joined in this supranational
organization in order to earn financial development under sharing common interests. From that time,
the membership of the European Union grew and its geographical scope broadened either that it
aggrandized more 15 countries by 1997. According to Dunford and Perrons (1994), the mechanisms of

The Pros And Cons Of Robots
Are autonomous robots the warfare altering weapon of this generation? In order to answer this
question there must be a clear definition of autonomous robots. An autonomous robot is a robot that
can perform any action without any human assistance and once weaponized they become autonomous
robotic weapons who act on their own. Knowing the current standing of autonomous robots, the
limitations on them, and how easily they can cause an autonomous robot arms race one would see how
a preemptive ban can protect the world. Although some would argue for the help these robots could
provide, there would always be a threat of malfunction. Therefore banning all applications
autonomous robots could protect the world from unnecessary deaths or increased future conflict.
The current standing of autonomous robots is fairly controversial. There are numerous groups arguing
over whether autonomous robots will help society or pave the way for a robot enforced martial law.
One group against the use of autonomous robots is the Campaign to Stop Killer Robots which argues
against the idea of anything other than a human being able to take a life (Goose Wareham, 2016,p. 32).
This group sees autonomous robots as a threat to humanity ,due to how weaponized autonomous
robotics could dehumanize the casualties they cause. While in contrast, the Department of
Defense(DOD) is highly interested in the idea of autonomous weapons being able to help remove
soldiers from war zones and lessen the number of

The Birth Of Florence Nightingale, A Pioneer Of The Modern...
May 12, 1820 marked the beginning of a revolutionary and exciting era of nursing characterized by
the birth of Florence Nightingale, a pioneer of the modern nursing profession for her work as a nurse,
educator, researcher, and an environmentalist in the nursing profession (Alligood, 2014). Nightingale
developed a number of nursing theories regarding the environment and effective care for patients and
refined her theories to focus on the health of houses, personal hygiene, and petty management
(Alligood, 2014). These canons were crucial in the creation of a nursing era focused on health
promotion and disease prevention. One preventable disease from Nightingale s time that is still
prevalent today is cholera. Cholera is a condition characterized by diarrhea, vomiting, and leg cramps,
resulting in severe dehydration or death due to the bacteria, vibro cholerae (Centres for Disease
Control and Prevention, 2014). Cholera is spread through consumption of water or food that has been
contaminated with fecal bacteria, and as such is preventable through education programs, improved
access to clean water, and proper personal hygiene (World Health Organization, 2016). Médecins Sans
Frontières uses these measures, in addition to the administration of oral vaccines, to prevent Cholera
in South Sudanese refugees. The Médecins Sans Frontières cholera prevention program relies on
Florence Nightingale s nursing theories of health of houses, personal hygiene, and petty management
as the basis

Discuss How Changes on Aggregate Demand Influence Price...
Diana Gaita
Economics FB1
Discuss how changes on aggregate demand influence price levels, output levels and employment.
The meaning of aggregate is added together. All of the elements introduced in microeconomics are
totaled in macroeconomics. Aggregate demand and supply analysis brings together the amount that
consumers wish to consume and firms wish to produce at any price levels. Aggregate demand (AD) is
the total demand for final goods and services in the economy (Y) at a given time and price level. Also
it is the amount of goods and services that will be purchased at all possible price levels in the
economy. This is called the demand for the Gross Domestic Product of a country when inventory
levels are static. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Confidence in future sales patterns and government incentive and regulations will also affect the
investment levels.
Another injection in the economy is the multiplier effect of the investment. In the economy, the money
invested today will have a greater impact such as increasing the levels of output in the future. This is
because investment rises the capital stock. With an evolution in technology, the machineries help
production become faster and cheaper, thus contributing greatly to increasing the output in long term.
* The Price Level and Net Exports: The Exchange Rate Effect
Exports represent an injection into the circular flow of income, in that the money paid for goods and
services sold abroad enters the domestic flow of income. Imports mean that there is an outflow of
money, and exports minus imports gives the total movement of funds known as net exports. There are
a number of reasons why the value of net exports might change. If the exchange rate increases in value
against other currencies, imports become cheaper and exports more expensive on world markets. Over
time, people respond to these relative price movements and the demand for exports falls and the
demand for imports rises. A stronger currency will worsen net exports, whereas a weaker currency will
improve the figure. Also, for example if a fall in the UK price level causes UK interest rates to fall, the
real exchange rate

Analysis Of The Rose That Grew From Concrete
Have you ever had that moment in life where you just want to give up, or cant take the bad stuff
anymore. Well I think we all have, since life really is no Crystal Stair . The poem Mother to Son is
about how life isn t always a crystal stair since the stairs are broken or have tacks and all that bad stuff
that is an obstacle you have to pass. The poem The Rose that Grew From Concrete is about a normal
rose that is growing from concrete where it seems impossible since it cannot provide nutrients but the
rose does it by persevering. Both poems share the theme of perseverance is the key but the authors do
that in similar and different ways. The authors developed the same theme in different ways and we can
still identify that Mother and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Rose is being strong and persevering to keep living. With life we can relate to this poem because
life throws problems at us like nothing and we have to keep persevering like the rose did when it was
growing in the concrete where there s almost no nutrients for it to eat off and die so maybe it could be
like someone homeless. They are living on the streets and have no food so they have to persevere in
order to live. Making up the theme of perseverance is the key. On the other hand, the author for
Mother to Son uses metaphor and conflict to develop the theme of perseverance is the key. With
metaphor being the stairs of life and conflict being the steps in the stairs that might be broken or with
tacks in it. Metaphor develops the theme of perseverance is the key in Mother to Son because the mom
uses the stairs to compare life and how it is difficult meaning you have to persevere. One piece of
evidence from the text is, Life for me ain t been no crystal stair. This shows the theme of perseverance
is the key because life isn t a crystal stair, it might have boards ripped out or tacks which represent the
problems while your facing while going up the stairs of life. This quote shows that the mother is
telling her son that life is no crystal meaning it s perfect with no problems or anything. Also, she is
saying life for her

The flash cards in your hands are crumpled from you squeezing them obsessively. You look up and see dozens of eyes staring at you, waiting expectantly. Taking a deep breath, you stumble through the speech. When it s finally over, you practically run back to your seat, cheeks flaming bright red. You slump down, already dreading the next time you ll have to deal with your upmost fear: public speaking. I used the search engine Google with the search term public speaking fear and it brought up a great deal of interesting websites pertaining to public speaking. The first one I decided to peruse was 5 Tips to Reduce the Fear of Public Speaking on Psychology Today s website. I learned that public speaking is the number one fear in America, while the fear of death is second in line. This means that we re more afraid of speaking in public than we are of dying. I also learned five tips on how to reduce public speaking nervousness. The first one was Don t Expect Perfection from Yourself. No one is perfect but when it comes time to speak in public, some of us pick at every little flaw we think we make. We blow up our imperfections yet ignore the good things. Honestly, though, even the greatest and most experience public speakers can make a lot of mistakes. The difference is, when they do, they re able to gracefully recover and keep going as if nothing happened. That s one of the keys to success: keep going gracefully. Most of the time, the audience won t notice most of your mistakes unless you make them obvious by stopping your speech, breaking down and admitting your mistakes. You just have to carry through with poise and let yourself not be perfect. The second tip was Avoid Equating Public Speaking to Your Self Worth. Basically, if you re a successful professional who s worked hard for where they are in life right now, you ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay about Racism in Family Guy Supports Stereotypes In today s society, a minstrel show would unquestionably be pointed out as a racist act. However, if stereotypes were used in comedic TV shows it becomes more uncertain as to whether or not it is appropriate. With the popular use of satire in the current pop culture, the line between racism and harmless satire is harder to define. Shows like Family Guy play on a lot of racial stereotypes but do not always receive attention on those jokes. The show is often written off as just a raunchy animated show, so people expect the outrageous humor and take the jokes less seriously. Racist jokes has been muddled with satire by putting it in a comical context and in a different medium such as animation. There needs to be a more defined line between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ahsan Haque of IGN criticized that the episode was not an instant classic but still praised it for its moments of creative genius (Haque). The episode received multiple reviews similar to this one. This demonstrates how the offensive humor is often brushed aside. There were no comments made about the portrayal of the Native Americans because of the fact that Family Guy is presented as a comedic animated show; its irreverence is what attracts audiences. The episode was not making a comment on a social issue. The satirization of Native Americans served no other purpose than for being the punch line of every joke. This sort of humor is not as upfront as something like blackface so it is not recognized immediately that it is offensive. Due to the fact that it is a comedic animated show it is not taken as seriously. For a show with millions of viewers making these sort of jokes makes it seem like it is acceptable to make fun of other races. In doing so these stereotypes are going to persist in society. The racist jokes that are often made in Family Guy obviously does not bother its viewers. Family Guy has garnered such a huge fan base that when the character Brian was killed off it caused a huge uproar on social media. An article written by Danielle Cox asked if the fans attachment to a cartoon character any different from other TV show characters? (Cox). Shreeya Gad Ms. Courey AP English Language and Composition, Period 4 1 March 2016 Mandatory Donations of Dues There is no such thing as freedom of choice unless there is freedom to refuse, stated David Hume. The case Friedrichs v. California Teachers Association, which just recently began oral hearings the week of January 11th, centers on the questions of whether union dues are inherently political and if they are... whether employees who are not union members can be compelled to pay them (KQED News). Those in favor of the plaintiff, Rebecca Friedrichs, a teacher from Orange County, believe that employees who are not union members should not have to pay union dues because the CTA cannot require its nonmembers to pay for political causes, seeing as doing so compels them to identify with a public policy cause, a violation of their First Amendment rights. Those against the eradication of union dues for non union members believe the fees are necessary because the union has a legal duty to represent all teachers at the bargaining table, even those who are not part of the union; if nonmembers can be represented by the union without paying any fee, there would be a strong incentive to become a free rider and not join the union, leading to a weakened force at the negotiation table. Because this requirement of dues is a direct violation of the Constitution, teachers that aren t members of the California Teachers Association should not have to support the union and its ... Murder is murder, and somebody must answer. Somebody must explain the streams of blood that flowed in the Indian country in the summer of 1838. Somebody must explain the 4000 silent graves that mark the trail of the Cherokees to their exile (Charles River Editors). On the Trail of Tears, many murders were carried out. Although these murders may not have been perpetrated by one person directly, the bodies of the trials were devastating. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Trail of Tears was a sequence of forced tribal removals from certain lands to another. The impact that this had on American society in the nineteenth century is little due to the fact that most of the country was white whom had more privilege and were becoming big landowners or plantation owners. The relocations were enforced and the Indians were required to move as a result of their want to remain as a nation. To these tribes, family and relation was everything, so they would rather be thrown off land than become split up. Today, the Trail of Tears is important because of the more frequent use of freedom of speech and the fights for equality from the United States citizens. • 6. The Convergence Of Accounting Principals The Convergence of Accounting Principals When it comes to financial accounting, there are two sets of standards that seem to have incongruent rule and principal based views on the way things should be done. These standards include the Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP), which is rule based, and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), which is principal based (Waybright p.260). Despite opposing views, the two have been attempting to fully converge since 2002. Historically, the concept of converging companies has been around since the 1950 s when the term harmonization was introduced. Harmonization was coined to reduce the differences among accounting principals (FASB). Then, in 1990, the term harmonization was replaced by convergence. The Convergence Project between the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) and the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), started to make way in October 2002 when the Norwalk Agreement publicized the merging of both sets of standards. The Norwalk Agreement is a signed understanding by both FASB and IASB to ensure the compatibility of financial standards and future programs. These two committees, along with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), have been working together to improve the accounting standards of GAAP and IFRS. • 8. The Creation Of The Presidency The Creation of the Presidency by Charles C. Thach is a historical analysis of the development of American Constitutional principles. The author begins by stating that the basis for American government is one that balances individual freedom and governmental strength. The moral foundations of American government are founded on the ideas of natural rights, government by contract, consent of the governed, and the right to revolt. However, the Revolutionary War at the time illuminated the need for a strong government that was able to act in times of crisis. This created the idea that government was a necessary evil for the founders. Thach examines the failures and success of State constitutions, and the national legislature to show how limited government was transformed from political theory to positive law in the United States. In politics there is a lingering question of what determines good government, Thach s analysis on the American system prove that good government must contain energy and limitations. The United States of America was founded on a distrust of monarchical governments. In response to this, the Articles of Confederation vested a majority of power into the hands of the legislature. On principle, a democratic government seems to be one that would most accurately embody the principles of limited government. Based on the assumption taken into consideration by Modigliani and Miller that the investors and firm have equal access to financial markets, which allows them for homemade leverage. The authors also pointed out that the investor can create any leverage they wanted but not offered or the investor can get rid of any leverage that the firm took on but was not wanted. Compared to previous years of imperialism, this period was focused primarily on benefitting the colonial power, Britain, instead of establishing new settlements. Even though the British imperialism of the late 19th century/early 20th century brought great wealth, knowledge, and technological advancements to the country, it was at the expense of many other people in the empire. Britain, and Europe as a whole, had to find a way to justify their superiority over these other countries subsequently leading scientists decided to use their background and knowledge to create disciplines that had racist ideologies at the root. These pseudo sciences were constructed to rationalize the imperialism during the 19th century. This paper will discuss some of the most influential sciences produced during the late 19th century, including social Darwinism, eugenics, and phrenology, that were used to justify British Imperialism and how they supported imperialism. • 15. The Reasonableness Of Christian Faith Summa Theologiae was written to display the reasonableness of Christian faith and to train future teachers in guiding others through Christianity, (Lecture, 11.14.2016) whereby one ultimately reaches true happiness. While Christians steadily find pleasure in their acceptance of God, Aquinas maintains that perfect happiness is distinct from this, both in what it entails and how it is achieved. Aquinas believes that humans cannot be entirely happy until fully understanding God, the original cause of their own being, which is impossible until reuniting with God in life after death. Humans cannot be truly happy until their intellect is fulfilled, which is only possible through understanding God. The human intellect instinctively seeks to understand the cause of things, and will not be satisfied simply knowing that such a cause exists (S.Th. II, Q.3, A.8). Aquinas is optimistic about the ability of human reason, and believes that unassisted logic can reveal and defend crucial platforms of the Christian faith, such as God s existence (S.Th. I, Q.2, A.2). God is demonstrated fore mostly through His creations, including humans themselves and their intellects (S.Th. I, Q.2, A.2). Since every effect depends upon its cause, (S.Th. I, Q.2, A.2) a human s awareness of their own life on earth subsequently proves the life of some entity which has caused the human to be. Aquinas, and the Christian faith, identify this original cause as God. However, Aquinas acknowledges that there is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This logic of symmetry and deformity is located in the depiction of Nature a landscaped variety and the characters relationships to their natural environment. The environs of La Vallée are characterized by the qualities of the picturesque landscape, and every angle of the house looks out on some prospect (2 4). In this landscape there is natural symmetry the improvements that St. Aubert makes to the ground around the chateau are few and conform to a taste for the beautiful (6) that is formed by nature rather than learned (see how St. Aubert conceives of Valancourt [35]). During the tour through the Pyrenees, many prospects are remarked upon, but so too is the absence of a prospect (28 29). Prospects are what make a landscape it is from a view large enough to incorporate diverse elements of a scene and a variety of distances that a landscape (comprised of foreground, middle ground, and a background) emerges. The idea of prospect is involved with the concept of perspective, and perspective (as it relates to the way one interacts with anything) brings us back to the ideas of taste and precept. But taste, precept, and prospect are in turn all linked to a consciousness of past, present, and future. Sociological Aspects Of Consumerism ONE My purpose for this is not to give solutions to fix this problem, but rather to shed light on it because i do believe this is a problem that we are not aware of, as a culture. In today s world I believe we no longer value conversations or acts of kindness or human interaction in general. its all about things. We have become mindless consumers and are so obsessed with things, stuff, junk, call it what you want, its controlling our lives. TWO There are a few ways in which one could interpret the word consumerism and its effects, economic, environmental etc. but I am going focus on the psychological and sociological aspects of it, So what is consumerism, how does it affect you? And why should you care? The sociology definition of consumerism is the belief that personal well being and happiness depend on the level of personal consumption. Essentially, the problem isn t consumption, it s consumerism, there is a very important difference. If consumption is the act, consumerism is the social system which exists when that act becomes defining of a society. And it s consumerism that causes the problems. Consumerism takes the act of consumption and turns it into the defining act of our role as social beings. THREE People tend to measure their quality of life based on the amount of things they have. Essays and books have debated the term for years using various criteria and rubrics to back up their respective positions on the subject. As the 21st century brings new and creative trends from screenwriting to post production and everything in between, the boundaries of noir become even less certain. One may even find a fitting parallel between the noir protagonist s ambiguous and perilous quest with that of the hapless and naïve academic in search of an unequivocal definition of noir itself. This essay aims at summarizing the evolution of American film noir to present day, by using seminal works to determine how these films have become influenced by American cinematic trends of postmodern narrative structures and subjectivity. History of Noir The argument to be made is that, with the emergence of cinematic technological advances coupled with postmodernism s abandonment of meta narratives and traditional socio cultural identities, filmmakers are digging even deeper into the dark recesses of the human consciousness and using noir as a platform. It is not very surprising that to date no other genre relies more on the fragility and temperamental nature of the human condition more. However, one must question whether it was the role of technology alone that changed warfare or if other factors were equally influential, these include; economic power, strategies and tactics, leadership, organisation and public attitudes. This epoch was known for its megafauna that roamed the Earth during the last great ice age. Although this was a time of mass extinction for species that could not adapt to the climate changes, many mammals and vertebrates that can be identified today were found during this time (Zimmermann, 2013). The Pleistocene epoch is an important foundation for understanding life that exists today, including carnivores, herbivores as well as the evolution of humans. Herbivores of the time ranged from under 45 kilograms to well over 1000 kg, making for a wide range of diversity within the speciation (graph below). While many of these mammals were preyed upon by the carnivores, some were simply too large to be killed by single predators, causing them to be relatively immune to predation (Rodriguez, Alberdi, Azanza, Prado, 2006). (Rodriguez, Alberdi, Azanza, Prado, 2006) The herbivores of course needed grasses and trees to feed on though, which became difficult as glaciation occurred cyclically causing for many to die from lack of livable environments. As the herbivore mammals died off, so did the predators that relied on them as a food source. While many of the herbivores became extinct during this time, others survived in certain places better than others. Native horses of North America for example existed before the end of the Pleistocene but disappear from the fossil record in that area. Horses as well as many other mammals in a similar situation still exist around the globe but were wiped out from their original habitats. In addition to carnivore and herbivore mammals, there were also many different species of birds and reptiles that existed. During the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, Europe was in need of an intervention, something to bring life to the dull communities throughout the continent. Marco Polo brought exactly this, and contributed so much more with his travels across the world, bringing back religious morals, new spices, new languages, and new commercial goods that were never heard of before. Although his intention might not have been as significant as his impact, the obstacles he encountered and traversed through as written throughout his book, sparked an interest and desire for international trade and traveling for Europeans to come. His unique spark and impressive capabilities proved he was a tough man, especially with the voyages he survived, the diseases he avoided, the country he governed, the bandit ambushes he fought, and imprisonment he endured. Not only was he able to document his journey to various places, but he was also able to spread his experience throughout Europe, thereby immortalizing his name. There is essentially two parts to oppression: the oppressor, who is demonstrating his power by displaying cruelty towards the second part of oppression, the oppressed. The oppressed take part in offenses made by the oppressor, that usually contain a cruel, and unfair burden towards them. The world has demonstrated this profound relationship since human history first began, not only in their way of life, but in literature. As long as America is first, she has no regards for anyone else in the world. She is justifying the murder of people in the name of American patriotism. This almost makes the lives taken during war seem less valuable, which is unacceptable. Through a letter that Editha wrote to George, she affirms her unawareness regarding war. In the letter, she states that if George does not enlist, she will break off the engagement because the man she would marry must be devoted to his country first (Free). Editha lives in Northern New York, where it is difficult to see the repercussions of war. Because of this, Editha does not seem to care that war affects every country involved, not just America. • 45. The Pros And Cons Of Robots Are autonomous robots the warfare altering weapon of this generation? In order to answer this question there must be a clear definition of autonomous robots. An autonomous robot is a robot that can perform any action without any human assistance and once weaponized they become autonomous robotic weapons who act on their own. Knowing the current standing of autonomous robots, the limitations on them, and how easily they can cause an autonomous robot arms race one would see how a preemptive ban can protect the world. Although some would argue for the help these robots could provide, there would always be a threat of malfunction. Therefore banning all applications autonomous robots could protect the world from unnecessary deaths or increased future conflict. The current standing of autonomous robots is fairly controversial. There are numerous groups arguing over whether autonomous robots will help society or pave the way for a robot enforced martial law. One group against the use of autonomous robots is the Campaign to Stop Killer Robots which argues against the idea of anything other than a human being able to take a life (Goose Wareham, 2016,p. 32). This group sees autonomous robots as a threat to humanity ,due to how weaponized autonomous robotics could dehumanize the casualties they cause. While in contrast, the Department of Defense(DOD) is highly interested in the idea of autonomous weapons being able to help remove soldiers from war zones and lessen the number of ... May 12, 1820 marked the beginning of a revolutionary and exciting era of nursing characterized by the birth of Florence Nightingale, a pioneer of the modern nursing profession for her work as a nurse, educator, researcher, and an environmentalist in the nursing profession (Alligood, 2014). Nightingale developed a number of nursing theories regarding the environment and effective care for patients and refined her theories to focus on the health of houses, personal hygiene, and petty management (Alligood, 2014). These canons were crucial in the creation of a nursing era focused on health promotion and disease prevention. One preventable disease from Nightingale s time that is still prevalent today is cholera. Cholera is a condition characterized by diarrhea, vomiting, and leg cramps, resulting in severe dehydration or death due to the bacteria, vibro cholerae (Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, 2014). Cholera is spread through consumption of water or food that has been contaminated with fecal bacteria, and as such is preventable through education programs, improved access to clean water, and proper personal hygiene (World Health Organization, 2016). The meaning of aggregate is added together. All of the elements introduced in microeconomics are totaled in macroeconomics. Aggregate demand (AD) is the total demand for final goods and services in the economy (Y) at a given time and price level. In the economy, the money invested today will have a greater impact such as increasing the levels of output in the future. This is because investment rises the capital stock. With an evolution in technology, the machineries help production become faster and cheaper, thus contributing greatly to increasing the output in long term. * The Price Level and Net Exports: The Exchange Rate Effect Exports represent an injection into the circular flow of income, in that the money paid for goods and services sold abroad enters the domestic flow of income. Imports mean that there is an outflow of money, and exports minus imports gives the total movement of funds known as net exports. There are a number of reasons why the value of net exports might change. If the exchange rate increases in value against other currencies, imports become cheaper and exports more expensive on world markets. Over time, people respond to these relative price movements and the demand for exports falls and the demand for imports rises. A stronger currency will worsen net exports, whereas a weaker currency will improve the figure.
