Differences Between The And The Islamic World
From deep within the mountains of Central Asia, a group of nomads arose who would one day rule
over half of the Islamic world. Though the tribes separated, all three of the greatest empires to grace
the Islamic world began with Turkic roots. Over the years they developed into distinct cultures of their
own, with unique religious interpretations and ideas of leadership. Each founding emperor had a
different claim to leadership. The Ottomans of Anatolia relied on their military success, especially the
unlikely victory against the Byzantines. The Safavids of Iran relied on religion to legitimate their rule.
Specifically, their eclectic mixture of Sufism and Shi ism and their position as Sufi pirs (spiritual
masters). The Mughals of South Asia depended upon their standing as the descendants of the great
Timurid dynasty.
All three empires had Turkic origins. Additionally, the ruling classes of all three empires were literate
in Persian. All three empires appreciated Persian language histories and poetry and Sufi poetry.
Despite these similarities, each empire had distinct tribal origins and dialects. Owing to the cultural
importance of Persian in the Islamic world, the Ottoman dialect was a mixture of Turkish and Persian.
The Ottomans were speakers of Oghuz Turkish who descended from Oghuz Khan. The Safavids were
Aq Quyunlu Turks who spoke Azeri Turkish, and the Mughals were speakers of Changatai Turkish
who descended from Timur Khan.
The three great empires were highly

Emotional Abuse Research Paper
Transition This poem is about emotional abuse. Emotional abuse is the ongoing emotional
maltreatment or emotional neglect of a child. Attention According to Childabuse.com every 2 seconds
a child is abused, and 5 out of every 6 cases of abuse go unreported. If I were to ask the human
population what they think the most common type of abuse is, most of them would guess physical or
sexual. But did you know it s neither of those things, it s emotional abuse and neglect. The purpose of
my speech is to clue you in on emotional abuse and show you why people who emotionally abuse
their children need more of a punishment than they currently get. You should be interested because
many people around you are emotionally abused, wearing that invisible scar, and you have no idea. I

According to NSPCC.com, it can lead to major depression eating disorders or can lead to self harm.
Emotional abuse can restrict a child s emotional development, including their ability to feel and
express a full range of emotions appropriately, and to control their emotions. Children who don t get
the love and care they need from their parents may find it difficult to develop and maintain healthy
relationships with other people later in life. Emotional abuse needs more awareness and parents need
to stop getting away with it. Also if parents are even convicted of this crime they need more than a
year in prison. They need to lose rights of their child they treat like dirt because they kill that child
mentally. They leave that child numb and weak. The child won t remember what happiness feels like
and without a reason to keep breathing, they won t. Satisfaction Putting an end to emotional abuse
would be very hard if not impossible but we can help. According to kalimurno.com we can look for

Dulles Despotism
In his speech to the Congress of Industrial Organizations, The Moral Initiative, Dulles warned
members attending the meeting, We cannot, however, ignore the hazards created by international
communism, which plots to pervert nationalism to its own imperialistic ends. Dulles felt that it was
the responsibility of the free world to stand up against the despotism of Communism in the speech he
continues:
The great weakness of despotism has been, is, and always will be, its disregard of the rights of man.
Despotism can always be routed if free men exploit that weakness. If our example can illumine again
the great advantages of a free society, then Soviet communism will lose its deceptive appeal ... This

There is not a single country in this hemisphere which has not been penetrated by the apparatus of
International Communism ... The Communist conspiracy is not to be taken lightly. It s agents operate
under the iron discipline of the Soviet Communist Party acting as the self proclaimed General Staff of
the World Proletariat. The agents themselves, in order to gain a following pretend to be reformists
seeking to eradicate the evils which exist in any society.
Dulles attempted to use the same tactic he had with the American people by frightening them of the
horrors of Communism. While some of the members of the conference needed little persuasions,
others were convinced by his speeches despite not being wholly concerned with the idea of
communism. Without Dulles persistence, the Caracas Conference could have ended on a drastically

What Is My Government In Texas
My Government in Texas and I
According to the book, a government is a public institution with authority to formulate, adopt,
implement, and enforce public policies for a society (book). Since I am included in the society, the
government has a great influence on my daily life. Even though I am not a U.S. citizen, the U.S.
government still affects me directly because I live on U.S territory. The government that affects me
and my family the most is not the White House or the Congress, it is the local government; Counties,
municipalities, school districts, and other special districts that provide a range of services, including
rural roads, city streets, public education, and protection of persons and property (book). Local

Summary Of Richard Bensel s Yankee Leviathan
Richard Bensel s Yankee Leviathan: The Origins of Central State Authority in America, 1857 1877, is
a book on the formation of the United States Federal government during the Civil War and the
Reconstruction eras. The book deals with the association of the Northern class and the Federal
government. It provides a history of the economy during the Civil War and help to reveal why a
socialist economy would not further the American economy. Bensel is of the belief that an
independent state authority would be a better form of government. He contended the United States
Federal government s growth was as a result of the Civil War during the Reconstruction era. In
addition, Bensel believed the Civil War attributed to the Northern Financial class, which ensued from
association with bankers in the North. He saw political ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A large amount of state expansion included policies that were proposed and argued in the prewar
period (Bensel, 1).
The mobilization of the northern political economy for war, however, both provided the major impetus
for state expansion and reshaped the antebellum agenda. The war had an even greater impact on the
structure and substantive policies of the emergent Southern Confederacy (Bensel, 3). The war between
the North and the South resulted in different governmental leaderships. The South substantially
depended on internal market development like tobacco and cotton crops. To finance the war, the North
depended on local banking institutions. As a result, during the Civil War, the Northern financial class
grew substantially. New York became the state with one of the greatest banking institutions. In
comparison, the South was empowered by statist elements and strict policies to organize the resources

Narcissist Personality Disorder
Narcissism is a disorder which summed up is just only caring about yourself, but i m not able to just
sum it up like that am I :) . It is a personality disorder that leads you to be more interested into oneself
then the surrounding people or anyone for that matter. This term came from the greek gods when one
god fell in love with himself through a reflection. Traits are An obvious self focus in interpersonal
exchanges, problems in sustaining satisfying relationships, a lack of psychological awareness, and
difficulty with empathy. This personality disorder is estimated to be in about 1% of the whole
population. Most people just contain narcissistic traits, but the people who really do have Narcissist

The concept of excessive selfishness has been recognized throughout history. In ancient Greece the
concept was understood as hubris. It is only more recently that narcissism has been defined in
psychological terms. Healthy narcissism forms a constant, realistic self interest and mature goals and
principles and an ability to form deep relations to an something. Within psychology, there are two
main branches of research into narcissism: clinical and social psychology. These approaches differ in
their view of narcissism, with the former treating it as a disorder, thus as discrete, and the latter
treating it as a personality trait, thus as a continuum. These two strands of research tend loosely to
stand in a divergent relation to one another, although they converge in places. Self regulation in
narcissists involves such things as striving to make one s self look and feel positive, special,
successful and important. It comes in both intrapsychic, such as blaming a situation rather than self for
failure, and interpersonal forms, such as using a relationship to serve one s own self. Some differences
in self regulation between narcissists and non narcissists can be seen with Campbell, Reeder,

Further, performance measures should be explicitly linked via a strategy map of hypothesized cause
and effect relationships that depict the firm s strategy (Kaplan and Norton 2000; 2004). Improvements
in measures of organizational capabilities are expected to drive improvements in the execution of
internal processes which in turn lead to customer and financial outcomes. In this way, the balanced
scorecard framework explicitly recognizes interrelationships between strategy specific measures of
financial and customer outcomes and inputoriented performance drivers related to the firm s internal
processes and organizational capabilities. However, managers must formulate strategies, and select
related objectives and measures, based on exante expectations about how the strategy will translate
into financial performance. Thus, the strategic objectives and performance measures chosen for an
organization s scorecard are often based on uncertain hypotheses about how measured performance
against these objectives ultimately leads to financial performance. Proponents of the balanced
scorecard concept have long recognized this uncertainty. To mitigate against it, and as a mechanism
for strategic feedback and learning, they have

Analysis Of Atonement By The Novel Atonement Essay
The novel Atonement tells the story of a woman desperately trying to make for her past mistakes. The
story starts off in the world war two period with the three main characters, Briony, Robbie and
Cecelia, as children and young adults. Robbie comes from the poor Turner Family, while Briony and
Cecilia are sisters in the powerful and wealthy Tallis Family. After observing a set of peculiar and
awkward encounters between Robbie and Cecilia, Briony wrongly assumes Robbie as an evil
character. After Paul, a rich sociopath invited to the dinner, rapes Lola, a cousin of the Tallises, Briony
immediately assumes that the culprit is none other than Robbie and publicly accuses him. Robbie is
sent off to prison, and then world war two to end his imprisonment. Robbie and Cecelia still stay in
touch through letters. Robbie bravely survives the war and returns home to Cecelia after several failed
attempts and encounters. Briony s apology attempts are shunned by the reunited couple as they live on
peacefully. However, the shock ending in the epilogue reveals that the whole narrative was authored
by Briony herself and not by an unknown narrator. She states that both of the couple died before ever
meeting each other after separation and feels responsible. The publishing of this story where their love
lasts in peace is simply Briony s way of achieving atonement. Much of the story and most of Briony s
guilt hinges on the deep, strong love between Robbie and Cecelia. However, their love is a

Supernatural Elements Of Macbeth By William Shakespeare
Supernatural Forces In Macbeth 1)Even today people struggle with whether or not to believe in
supernatural forces, such as ghosts or witchcraft, but those who would admit that they let the
supernatural guide their behaviors and predict their futures would be harder to find. 2) Shakespeare s
play, Macbeth, takes place during medieval times when many people believed strongly in the presence
and power of witchcraft and in the supernatural. 3) In Macbeth, Shakespeare uses three witches, a
floating dagger, and Banquo s ghost, as supernatural forces which increasingly motivate and influence
Macbeth s actions as the play progresses. Near the end of the play, Macbeth becomes so influenced by
these forces that almost all of his actions are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
11)Shakespeare uses the supernatural as a constant underlying theme of the play, with the witches
words placing the idea of greater power and fame in Macbeth s head, but Macbeth makes his own evil
choices in pursuit of his originally noble goal of becoming King.
4)Another form of the supernatural Shakespeare uses is the floating dagger Macbeth sees before he
commits to killing King Duncan. 5)The floating dagger, covered in blood, symbolizes evil, and leads
Macbeth to go forward with his plan to kill Duncan. As Macbeth questions whether he should commit
the murder, he sees a bloody dagger appearing before him with the handle pointing towards his hand,
and he speaks Come, let me clutch thee (Shakespeare 2.1.41 42). 6)Macbeth s doubts about killing the
King disappear, as Shakespeare uses the dagger to lure Macbeth towards King Duncan s room.
7)Macbeth sees the dagger as a sign, that he is being led by the supernatural to commit the murder, but
really he is only following his own greedy desire to become King. 8)The floating dagger appears to
hypnotize Macbeth, because he confesses mine eyes are the fools o the other senses (Shakespeare
2.1.52). 9)Shakespeare has Macbeth kill Duncan to illustrate a change in Macbeth as he grows more
evil in pursuit of his goals. Macbeth becomes more dependent on what he believes the

Disadvantages of Coaxial
Coaxial cable has high attenuation rate over long distance. Besides that coaxial cable is bulky as it

Part of being a good leader is communicating verbally, through action, and by listening. This means
that ensuring one stays in the present to get things accomplished and helping to inspire others through
one s own passion can be crucial for greater success.
Communication is essential when it comes to challenging the process and striving to enable others to
act in both one s personal and professional lives. When it comes to challenging the process, being able
to look outside of one s own experiences can foster an environment in which both internal and
external communication is being utilized. However, when it comes to challenging the process, it is
important to break things down when needed so that all those involved can gain a better
understanding. In relation when it comes to enabling others to act, it is important to show concern for
others and strive the share any knowledge or information that is made available. This can create a
better bond that those in our professional and personal lives will be able to build a greater trust with. It
is also important to make these interactions face to face, because it builds a better communication
relationship and enables those around us to not feel disconnected from one another.
Finally, communication is important when it comes the final area, encourage the heart. This can be

Scarlet Letter Imperfection
Imperfection Nathaniel Hawthorne is an Anti transcendentalist and writes in the time period of 1600s
in New England, during puritanism in his novel, The Scarlet Letter. In his novel, The Scarlet Letter,
Nathaniel Hawthorne uses the symbolism of the Wild Rose bush, Pearl, and the Forest and Sunlight to
contribute to the overall theme of imperfection. The Wild Rose bush means there is a wild, dark and
beautiful side to everyone and everything. Pearl shows that although you were born into darkness, it
doesn t mean that you can t be good or pure. The Forest and Sunlight shows that you can be evil or do
bad and be wild, and still have goodness and purity in you. Hester is Pearl s mother who committed
adultery with Pearl s father, Dimmesdale, while married to his best friend and doctor, Chillingworth.
Dimmesdale is Pearl s father and a minister/Priester. To begin, Hawthorne uses the Wild Rose bush to
contribute to the theme of good and evil. The rose on the rose bush stands for good and beauty, the
thorns stand for evil, darkness, and pain. The wildness of the rose bush represents the wildness that is
inside of everyone. Hawthorne explains, ...to symbolize some sweet moral blossom...or relieve the
darkening close of a tale of human frailty and sorrow (Hawthorne 46). This quote shows that a Wild
Rose bush is beautiful, but with the beauty, there are thorns, which are dark and painful, just like
Hester. As the book continues, the Wild Rose bush sits right outside of the prison,

The Cretaceous-Tertiary Mass Extinction
The age of the planet Earth is estimated to be about four point six billion years old. Life on Earth is
estimated to have started one billion years later. Evolution has taken place since then. Evolving life
from simple forms into more complex forms through the course of time. It all began with single celled
organisms, prokaryotes. Later evolving in a period of two hundred million years, cyanobacteria began
to produce photosynthesis. And life went on, evolving, adapting to its home. However through this
course of time, mass extinctions have taken place on planet Earth. One of the most recent mass
extinctions, has as a matter of fact left various amounts of evidence of the creatures which roamed the
Earth at that time. Such magnificent creatures which varied from a very small size to giant sizes.
Creatures which are now known to humanity as dinosaurs. The name of this extinction was the
Cretaceous Tertiary Mass Extinction. This extinction took place roughly sixty five million years ago.
It has not been too long since this incident compared to the life span of the Earth. And yet it is still
unclear how this extinction occurred. Paleontologists to this day, debate on how this extinction
occurred. A major factor on what caused this extinction to occur was an impact of an asteroid. Another
theory such as sea level regression is considered to be the blame for the extinction. Sea level
regression is the drop of sea levels which aids to explain the marine mass extinction, however

The Crime Control Model And The Due Process Model
Herbert Packer, a Stanford University law professor, developed two models of the criminal justice
system (CJS) in the United States, the crime control model and the due process model. This has now
been implemented and applied to the CJS of England and Wales and there are several examples of due
process and crime control measures which this CJS is made up of.
The due process model relies on the underlying principle that an individual cannot be deprived of
liberty, property, or even life without appropriate legal procedures and safeguards. When people are
charged with a crime they are required to have their rights protected by the CJS. The primary actor of
this model is the defendant as it is largely structured around protecting the rights ... Show more

This is a procedural safeguard of the CJS and is a part of the due process model. Another example of
the due process model in the CJS is the system of being able to appeal. The fact that there is a higher
Court of Appeal if you feel the lower courts have made a mistake and even an even higher House of
Lords for appeals. This is a procedural safeguard for the accused to ensure their guilt is beyond
reasonable doubt and is another feature of the due process model. Another due process feature of the
CJS is the panel of lay people known as the jury which decide upon the guilt. This is a feature of the
due process model as again it protects the rights of the defendant as expected by the due process
model. An example in context of the due process model in the CJS is in relation to the Woolwich
murder of Drummer Lee Rigby. This is my ideal example of the due process model being
implemented in the CJS of England and Wales, this is because although the two men (Micheal
Adebowale and Micheal Adebolajo) were quite visibly caught on tape and actually waited to be
arrested they were still given their right as human beings to undergo the due course and process of the
law as they still had a trial and were still allowed to appeal. There are other features of the due process
model in the CJS of England and Wales such as the right to silence, the right to legal advice and

The Pearl Greed Quotes Analysis
Greed is perhaps one of the most destructive forces in this world, it breeds anger, hate, jealousy, and
more. The novella The Pearl is based on how the finding of a pearl causes greed to be awakened in the
hearts of people and cause them to commit evil. During the Novella, Steinbeck develops the theme
that greed left unchecked can cause immoral behavior and that is show in the doctor, the attackers, and
Kino. All of them are forced by greed to commit sins that they otherwise would not do.
The doctor is someone who let his greed lead to immoral behavior.
An excellent example of greed consuming people are the attackers. They were willing to do whatever
was necessary to get the pearl from Kino and become wealthy. Greedy fingers went through ... Show

At the beginning of the story they both felt content and happy as show in this quote Sometimes it rose
to an aching chord that caught the throat, saying this is safety, this is warmth, this is the Whole. . They
did not even speak because their understanding was so great. But after Kino found the pearl his
relationship steadily deteriorates as shown in this quote Kino, she said huskily, I am afraid. A man can
be killed. Let us throw the pearl back into the sea. Hush, he said fiercely. I am a man. Hush. . That
shows that as time goes by Kino is acting ruder and harshly to Juana all because of the greed the pearl
caused. Another example is This thing is evil, she cried harshly. This pearl is like a sin! It will destroy
us, and her voice rose shrilly. Throw it away, Kino. Let us break it between stones. Let us bury it and
forget the place. Let us throw it back into the sea. It has brought evil. Kino, my husband, it will
destroy us. And in the firelight her lips and her eyes were alive with her fear. But Kino s face was set,
and his mind and his will were set this quote shows that Juana is becoming increasingly fearful yet
Kino is sure this is the way and is willing to do whatever is necessary to become wealthy. This causes
a strain between their relation. Finally the worst thing Kino commits is the act of attacked Juana. He is
described as a snake hissing at her and hitting her that makes her fall. He even continues to kick her
after she has fallen and she accepts it and knows he may even murder her. This shows that Kino has

(Rivers, 2011). The stigma towards homosexuals can be a hinder to a healthy identity development
and can cause a context of isolation and tension. This discussion talks about the insight and deviance,
which violators of important social norms are therefore stigmatized. Hence, deviants are believed to
be different from normal people and are set apart. When the social norms are violated, they could be
tolerated or even ignored. However, important principles are discussed to help understand social
deviance in sexual orientation. Therefore, understanding the link between homophobia and the gender
role conflict in connection to other cultural ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The offenders tend to believe that others approve their behavior and actions and hence see no wrong in
it e.g., the trend of job discrimination in most states of the U.S which is legalized (Palmer, 2011).
Furthermore, homophobia being a community problem is extensively seen in the identification of
gender roles. These stereotypes hold firmly that certain genders e.g. the male group are very firm and
characterized by strength. Hence, unlike the female groups that are emotional and not strong enough.
Homophobia is addressed more towards gay males than it would towards gay females. Hence, making
men more likely to perpetrate violence towards gay men. The traditional and sexist stereotypes may
make those with homophobia view gay men and lesbian s women as being a threat to their traditional
heterosexual conceptions of masculinity. Researchers have shown men experiencing conflict, which
relates to four domains of a male gender role: These gender roles consist of success, power, and
competition. Researchers have also concluded that religion is interconnected to homophobia.
These conventional beliefs are also entrenched in the social and cultural facilities, for example,
families and religious institution (Palmer, 2011). The religions teach prejudice towards the gay
community. Hence, this puts religious fundamentalist as being closed minded, which causes them to
have negative reactions to those whom seems as a threat to their

Oil And Gas Exploration From The Reservoir
1.1 Abstract:
For a period of 27 years, Frigg Field in the North Sea has offered oil and gas exploration from the
reservoir. The Fridge Field is located astride the boundary that exists between Norway and United
Kingdom in the North Central part of the North Sea at a distance of 200 kms west of Haugesund,
Norway (Heritier, et al., 1990).
From the initial stages of the project through to the end the project was internationally shared and
managed by two countries. The precise location of the project is positioned in the Viking Graben
which is where the Eocene sand reservoirs are characterised. This has offered sands that are

My Career As A Career
First starting this class I didn t know what exactly what I wanted to do with a career. I was between
two careers trying to figure out what would be best for me. The CIT career would be nice to learn
something entirely new and at the same time tie it in with business some how. The problem I was
having is trying to figure out what I was going to do with it. Doing the first set of activities in this
class allowed me to learn what I really wanted in a job and what I can do with out. My career must
allow me freedom to choose what I want to do to be able to create what I want. My career must allow
me to choose my own hours. Don t get me wrong that I will only work a little because I am going to
put in hours around the clock. What I mean with flexible hours is that if something comes up I will be
able to work around it. It must also allow me to show leadership and call shot. Things that aren t so
important but still hold value is that my job should allow me not to work on Sunday. If I have to once
in a while because there is no way around it, that is understandable. My job should allow me to come
home for dinner most nights and be with my family. It could be not stressful but I deal with stress
good and don t mind it. It could also be not dealing with so many angry people but I can handle them
pretty will. The first option that I choose for my career list is computer networking architect. This
option really interested me because for my needs of a job it really fulfills the

Descriptive Essay On Driving
Riding with my older sister, Alex, when she first started driving was terrifying. The car swerved and
jerked as she sped down the highway. Sitting in the backseat, my eyes were constantly wide with fear,
and I often found myself gripping the handle on the door until my knuckles turned white. Whenever a
car approached, my heart began to beat rapidly out of fear that she would hit it. However when my
other sister, Emily, started driving, I enjoyed riding with her. She drove the speed limit and rarely
swerved out of the lines. I could calmly sit in the backseat with my hands lying in my lap, my heart at
ease. It is amazing how two sister who went to the same driving class with the same instructor could
have such different parking skills, levels of distraction, and driving styles. Emily is by far a better
driver than Alex. One way Emily and Alex are different drivers are their parking skills. Alex hastily
parks, but Emily slowly and precisely parks. For example, Alex hurriedly pulls into the biggest
parking spot available, frequently parking crookedly and taking up two spots. However, Emily
carefully maneuvers her car into parking spots and will pull in and out to ensure she is within the
lines. Whenever Alex, Emily, and I went to highschool football games, we usually arrived late and
most parking spots had already been taken. Alex drove down countless blocks scanning the streets for
the largest and easiest spot to park in town; she always chose to walk four or five blocks in blistering
cold to get to the game rather than attempting to parallel park. On the other hand, Emily always tried
finding the spot closest to the football field even if it meant squeezing into a tight spot or parallel
parking.
In addition to parking differently, Alex and Emily are also opposites when it comes to distracted
driving. Alex is a distracted driver, but Emily is not. Whenever Alex drives, she is always
multitasking, fixing her makeup, eating, and messing with the radio. However, Emily only wants to
focus on the road when she is behind the wheel. For example, Alex did not like taking the time to sit
down and eat breakfast at home before school. Instead, she ate her breakfast while she was driving,
bringing her full smoothie cup

Abstract Migration, Remittances, Poverty and Inequality The Philippines By Ernesto M. Pernia The
paper looks into the effects of international migration and remittances on household incomes and well
being, poverty reduction, human capital investment, saving, and regional development in the home
country. Remittances appear to raise average incomes for all income groups but more so for the richer
households than for the poorer ones, a finding that is consistent with that in several Latin American
countries. Such eyeballing of the data is supported by econometric analysis which further reveals that
remittances enhance household savings, spending on education and health care, and help the poor
move out of poverty. Analysis at the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because international migrants typically are among the better educated and experienced workers in the
home country, their departure often results in a disruption of economic activity before the vacancies
are filled. And even when these are filled, the situation may not be the same as before. Labor market
responses would depend on the composition of emigration and the nature of labor markets in terms of
flexibility, segmentation, and rates of un and under employment. Lucas (2005) reports two general
types of outcomes: (i) where emigrant workers are easily replaced with no discernible loss in output or
rise in wages (e.g., India, Indonesia, and Sri Lanka); and (ii) where upward pressure on wages is
palpable (e.g., Pakistan, Philippines, Mexico, Malawi, and Mozambique).1 In both cases, the labor
market outcome appears to be beneficial to those left behind. 1 Tan (2007), however, finds no
significant upward pressure on real wages in the Philippines and opines that, perhaps, employers
decide to hire less qualified replacement workers at prevailing wages instead of raising them to attract
or retain highly skilled personnel. 2 For example, while infant mortality rate had dropped to 29 per
thousand in 2001, it is higher than in Malaysia and Thailand; moreover, as much as 40% of women

The Evaporation Race
When it rains, puddles of water are often left behind, but it starts to disappear after just a few hours.
What is happening? This is called evaporation. Evaporation is a very common natural process that
occurs all around the world, where a liquid changes from a liquid state to a gaseous state. Evaporation
occurs when enough heat energy is absorbed by the molecules in a liquid state to the point where it
starts to vaporize. Do other liquids react in the same way? The answer is yes, but in this experiment, a
heat source will be used to evaporate different liquids. The results will show if certain liquids do, in
fact, evaporate faster or slower than others depending on their ingredients.
How do liquids change from a liquid to a gas phase? A liquid is a primary state of matter that has no
specific shape. According to chemwiki.ucdavis.edu, Liquids are more dense and less compressible
than gasses. Liquids have a definite volume, independent of the size and shape of their container. The
attractive forces are not strong enough, however, to keep neighboring molecules in a fixed position
and molecules are free to move past or slide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How is the dependent variable, evaporation rate, affected by different liquids? As said on
water.usgs.gov, Heat (energy) is necessary for evaporation to occurs. Energy is used to break the
bonds that hold water molecules together, which is why water easily evaporates at the boiling point
(212Ëš F, 100ËšC)... Water s boiling point is a known fact, but other liquids with lower boiling points
evaporate faster, and that is what will make the evaporation rate for each liquid vary. If energy is
added to a liquid, the molecules will react by vibrating faster and spreading apart, eventually changing
the liquid to a gaseous phase. With these facts in mind, one can resume with the topic of this

The Causes Of The Drought In California
The Drought in California has lasted about five years. California is an American state known for it
agricultural industry and large cities. It is on the West Coast near the Ocean as well. It is supposed to
get both rain and snowfall throughout the year, but the drought has prevented as sufficient amount
from occurring.
The drought was caused by overuse and over extraction from water tables and freshwater sources for
the commercial agricultural industry. The biggest cause, however, was a high pressure system near the
coast diverting storms away from California because it cannot rain California is in a drought.
Due to this drought, many crops have dies leading to poverty for many farmers. People are lacking
clean drinking water forcing the state to bring it in from other states. Water tables are collapsing as
well.
To mitigate loss of life close monitoring of dry woods needs to occur that way if a forest fire starts it
can be put out easier, or the surrounding areas can evacuate more effectively.
People are also shifting away from grass lawns to save water from being wasted on something purely
for intrinsic value. They are also using less water for washing dishes and showering to prevent the
need for any more water extraction.
California is also importing more produce instead of growing it on their own to prevent
malnourishment and supplement the lack of produce being grown in state.
8. Hurricane/serious storm case study: discuss a serious hurricane or tropical storm. Where did it hit
and what impact did it have? How did/could weather monitoring mitigate loss?
Hurricane Katrina hit The United States and Canada. In the United States, it did the most damage in
New Orleans, Louisiana. It also hit parts of Florida, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Mississippi and
Alabama.
It came onto land as a Category three hurricane with powerful windspeeds reaching more than 125
miles per hour.
New Orleans is a large city hit by Katrina with most the land being lower to sea level making It prone
to flooding. It is also has the Mississippi river flowing through it. There are many poverty stricken
neighborhoods usually in areas with more flooding.

students, ranging from 12 to 17 year olds, came from low income families around Taiwan, seeking
help in learning English, as they do not normally have the proper resources to do so. Though the

students overcame it together with pointing and various other universal gestures and facial
expressions. This way, the students were encouraged to understand English better to communicate
with their teacher, and my cousin refined her own oral Chinese skills. The students were kind and
willing to help despite [her] poor Chinese, and didn t judge [her] either (Lam). The students were
happy enough that she came all the way to Taiwan to teach them English. They respected this, and
were eager to help her discover a new culture and improve on her Chinese abilities. The barrier was
still tough for Stephanie, but thanks to the kindness of her students, it was much easier to bear through
and succeed. It was a new and unknown world for my cousin, but she still made the most of her
experience and discovered so much more about East Asian culture. The program itself was quite
informal, and its students were there on a voluntary basis. However, they still showed a great amount
of respect towards [the teachers] (Lam). The students still followed rules and appropriate classroom

The Dangers Of Freedom In The Film Under The Same Moon
Freedom is acquired through adversity. Adversity comes with fear. Many breakthroughs may they be
scientific, political, or social, have come about after overcoming adversity. Fear is natural and
expected when making decisions that will alter the future. But despite this fear, breakthroughs are still
possible. Every day, people are pushing at the boundaries of life to expand general knowledge and to
build better lives for them and their children. Some may say that fear is a big enough threat to stop
freedom. However, I assert that fear accompanies freedom and every time freedom is established, no
matter how insignificant, fear is overcame. When fleeing from oppression or taking huge risks in life
in hopes of obtaining physical or financial freedom, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are some who argue that when a woman decides to dress in a way that shows off her skin, she is
asking for negative attention from men. This reason is why the locker room behavior of men is
borderline accepted in primarily American culture. When women are told that the way that they dress
puts themselves in danger with men, it shames females into thinking that their freedom to dress is less
important because they have to worry about how they are going to be treated. Though I concede that
there is no reason to show off inappropriate areas of the body publicly, I still insist that a woman
should be able to choose to wear what she wants without being afraid of the consequences. After all,
clothes are just clothes. My main point is that women shouldn t have to be afraid because their
freedom is more valuable than any man who would take advantage of them. Being safe in this
circumstance is purely outrageous when the fact that women can wear clothes however they want and
choose their freedom over the safety that is ensured by covering up. Another example that goes hand
in hand with freedom to wear what is chosen is the clear backpacks that students of Parkland High
School in Florida are required to now use as a result of the shooting in February. The freedom of these
students is being taken away so that teachers and administrators can ensure that the students are not

The Energy Source Of Energy
In an era where fossil fuels are the dominant source of energy, environmentalists and scientists are
looking for alternative energy sources in the fear that fossil fuels will sooner or later become
consumed by our energy needs. In the hunt to find a strong alternative energy source, scientists have
reverted back to an old formula E=MC2. The indicated formula was first thought up by Albert
Einstein to describe a part of general relativity in the paper Does the Inertia of a Body Depend Upon
Its Energy Content? Furthermore, in his publication Albert Einstein explains that mass and kinetic
energy are proportionally equal. Meaning you can transfer energy into mass and vice versa. In
addition if you are able to transfer mass into energy that mass will be multiplied by the speed of light
(C) squared, meaning that a little mass can turn into a lot of energy. Moreover, Einstein s reasoning for
using the speed of light is because atoms when separated travel the speed of light thus carrying a lot of
energy. At the time Einstein was working on trying to find ways to separate and or fuse atoms in order
to gain energy and put his formula to use. However, today we have found two different ways of doing
so in what we call nuclear fusion and nuclear fission.
Nuclear fusion has been around since the big bang, as it is the process that powers stars just like ours
and is how our universe continues to grow. Moreover, nuclear fusion occurs when two or more atoms
fuse together at very high

  • 2. Differences Between The And The Islamic World From deep within the mountains of Central Asia, a group of nomads arose who would one day rule over half of the Islamic world. Though the tribes separated, all three of the greatest empires to grace the Islamic world began with Turkic roots. Over the years they developed into distinct cultures of their own, with unique religious interpretations and ideas of leadership. Each founding emperor had a different claim to leadership. The Ottomans of Anatolia relied on their military success, especially the unlikely victory against the Byzantines. The Safavids of Iran relied on religion to legitimate their rule. Specifically, their eclectic mixture of Sufism and Shi ism and their position as Sufi pirs (spiritual masters). The Mughals of South Asia depended upon their standing as the descendants of the great Timurid dynasty. All three empires had Turkic origins. Additionally, the ruling classes of all three empires were literate in Persian. All three empires appreciated Persian language histories and poetry and Sufi poetry. Despite these similarities, each empire had distinct tribal origins and dialects. Owing to the cultural importance of Persian in the Islamic world, the Ottoman dialect was a mixture of Turkish and Persian. The Ottomans were speakers of Oghuz Turkish who descended from Oghuz Khan. The Safavids were Aq Quyunlu Turks who spoke Azeri Turkish, and the Mughals were speakers of Changatai Turkish who descended from Timur Khan. The three great empires were highly ... Dulles Despotism In his speech to the Congress of Industrial Organizations, The Moral Initiative, Dulles warned members attending the meeting, We cannot, however, ignore the hazards created by international communism, which plots to pervert nationalism to its own imperialistic ends. Dulles felt that it was the responsibility of the free world to stand up against the despotism of Communism in the speech he continues: The great weakness of despotism has been, is, and always will be, its disregard of the rights of man. Despotism can always be routed if free men exploit that weakness. If our example can illumine again the great advantages of a free society, then Soviet communism will lose its deceptive appeal ... Dulles attempted to use the same tactic he had with the American people by frightening them of the horrors of Communism. Further, performance measures should be explicitly linked via a strategy map of hypothesized cause and effect relationships that depict the firm s strategy (Kaplan and Norton 2000; 2004). Improvements in measures of organizational capabilities are expected to drive improvements in the execution of internal processes which in turn lead to customer and financial outcomes. In this way, the balanced scorecard framework explicitly recognizes interrelationships between strategy specific measures of financial and customer outcomes and inputoriented performance drivers related to the firm s internal processes and organizational capabilities. However, managers must formulate strategies, and select related objectives and measures, based on exante expectations about how the strategy will translate into financial performance. Thus, the strategic objectives and performance measures chosen for an organization s scorecard are often based on uncertain hypotheses about how measured performance against these objectives ultimately leads to financial performance. The story starts off in the world war two period with the three main characters, Briony, Robbie and Cecelia, as children and young adults. Robbie comes from the poor Turner Family, while Briony and Cecilia are sisters in the powerful and wealthy Tallis Family. After observing a set of peculiar and awkward encounters between Robbie and Cecilia, Briony wrongly assumes Robbie as an evil character. After Paul, a rich sociopath invited to the dinner, rapes Lola, a cousin of the Tallises, Briony immediately assumes that the culprit is none other than Robbie and publicly accuses him. Robbie is sent off to prison, and then world war two to end his imprisonment. Robbie and Cecelia still stay in touch through letters. However, the shock ending in the epilogue reveals that the whole narrative was authored by Briony herself and not by an unknown narrator. She states that both of the couple died before ever meeting each other after separation and feels responsible. As Macbeth questions whether he should commit the murder, he sees a bloody dagger appearing before him with the handle pointing towards his hand, and he speaks Come, let me clutch thee (Shakespeare 2.1.41 42). 6)Macbeth s doubts about killing the King disappear, as Shakespeare uses the dagger to lure Macbeth towards King Duncan s room. 7)Macbeth sees the dagger as a sign, that he is being led by the supernatural to commit the murder, but really he is only following his own greedy desire to become King. 8)The floating dagger appears to hypnotize Macbeth, because he confesses mine eyes are the fools o the other senses (Shakespeare 2.1.52). 9)Shakespeare has Macbeth kill Duncan to illustrate a change in Macbeth as he grows more evil in pursuit of his goals. Scarlet Letter Imperfection Imperfection Nathaniel Hawthorne is an Anti transcendentalist and writes in the time period of 1600s in New England, during puritanism in his novel, The Scarlet Letter. In his novel, The Scarlet Letter, Nathaniel Hawthorne uses the symbolism of the Wild Rose bush, Pearl, and the Forest and Sunlight to contribute to the overall theme of imperfection. The Wild Rose bush means there is a wild, dark and beautiful side to everyone and everything. Pearl shows that although you were born into darkness, it doesn t mean that you can t be good or pure. The Forest and Sunlight shows that you can be evil or do bad and be wild, and still have goodness and purity in you. Hester is Pearl s mother who committed adultery with Pearl s father, Dimmesdale, while married to his best friend and doctor, Chillingworth. Dimmesdale is Pearl s father and a minister/Priester. To begin, Hawthorne uses the Wild Rose bush to contribute to the theme of good and evil. The rose on the rose bush stands for good and beauty, the thorns stand for evil, darkness, and pain. The wildness of the rose bush represents the wildness that is inside of everyone. Hawthorne explains, ...to symbolize some sweet moral blossom...or relieve the darkening close of a tale of human frailty and sorrow (Hawthorne 46). Life on Earth is estimated to have started one billion years later. Evolution has taken place since then. Evolving life from simple forms into more complex forms through the course of time. It all began with single celled organisms, prokaryotes. Later evolving in a period of two hundred million years, cyanobacteria began to produce photosynthesis. And life went on, evolving, adapting to its home. However through this course of time, mass extinctions have taken place on planet Earth. One of the most recent mass extinctions, has as a matter of fact left various amounts of evidence of the creatures which roamed the Earth at that time. Such magnificent creatures which varied from a very small size to giant sizes. Creatures which are now known to humanity as dinosaurs. The name of this extinction was the Cretaceous Tertiary Mass Extinction. This extinction took place roughly sixty five million years ago. It has not been too long since this incident compared to the life span of the Earth. And yet it is still unclear how this extinction occurred. Paleontologists to this day, debate on how this extinction occurred. A major factor on what caused this extinction to occur was an impact of an asteroid. The Crime Control Model And The Due Process Model Herbert Packer, a Stanford University law professor, developed two models of the criminal justice system (CJS) in the United States, the crime control model and the due process model. This has now been implemented and applied to the CJS of England and Wales and there are several examples of due process and crime control measures which this CJS is made up of. The due process model relies on the underlying principle that an individual cannot be deprived of liberty, property, or even life without appropriate legal procedures and safeguards. When people are charged with a crime they are required to have their rights protected by the CJS. This is a procedural safeguard of the CJS and is a part of the due process model. Another example of the due process model in the CJS is the system of being able to appeal. The fact that there is a higher Court of Appeal if you feel the lower courts have made a mistake and even an even higher House of Lords for appeals. This is a procedural safeguard for the accused to ensure their guilt is beyond reasonable doubt and is another feature of the due process model. Another due process feature of the CJS is the panel of lay people known as the jury which decide upon the guilt. This is a feature of the due process model as again it protects the rights of the defendant as expected by the due process model. An example in context of the due process model in the CJS is in relation to the Woolwich murder of Drummer Lee Rigby. This is my ideal example of the due process model being implemented in the CJS of England and Wales, this is because although the two men (Micheal Adebowale and Micheal Adebolajo) were quite visibly caught on tape and actually waited to be arrested they were still given their right as human beings to undergo the due course and process of the law as they still had a trial and were still allowed to appeal. A man can be killed. Let us throw the pearl back into the sea. Hush, he said fiercely. I am a man. Hush. . That shows that as time goes by Kino is acting ruder and harshly to Juana all because of the greed the pearl caused. Another example is This thing is evil, she cried harshly. But Kino s face was set, and his mind and his will were set this quote shows that Juana is becoming increasingly fearful yet Kino is sure this is the way and is willing to do whatever is necessary to become wealthy. This causes a strain between their relation. Finally the worst thing Kino commits is the act of attacked Juana. He is described as a snake hissing at her and hitting her that makes her fall. Sitting in the backseat, my eyes were constantly wide with fear, and I often found myself gripping the handle on the door until my knuckles turned white. Whenever a car approached, my heart began to beat rapidly out of fear that she would hit it. However when my other sister, Emily, started driving, I enjoyed riding with her. She drove the speed limit and rarely swerved out of the lines. I could calmly sit in the backseat with my hands lying in my lap, my heart at ease. It is amazing how two sister who went to the same driving class with the same instructor could have such different parking skills, levels of distraction, and driving styles. Emily is by far a better driver than Alex. One way Emily and Alex are different drivers are their parking skills. Alex hastily parks, but Emily slowly and precisely parks. For example, Alex hurriedly pulls into the biggest parking spot available, frequently parking crookedly and taking up two spots. However, Emily carefully maneuvers her car into parking spots and will pull in and out to ensure she is within the lines. Whenever Alex, Emily, and I went to highschool football games, we usually arrived late and most parking spots had already been taken. Alex drove down countless blocks scanning the streets for the largest and easiest spot to park in town; she always chose to walk four or five blocks in blistering cold to get to the game rather than attempting to parallel park. On the other hand, Emily always tried finding the spot closest to the football field even if it meant squeezing into a tight spot or parallel parking. In addition to parking differently, Alex and Emily are also opposites when it comes to distracted driving. Alex is a distracted driver, but Emily is not. Whenever Alex drives, she is always multitasking, fixing her makeup, eating, and messing with the radio. However, Emily only wants to focus on the road when she is behind the wheel. What is happening? This is called evaporation. Evaporation is a very common natural process that occurs all around the world, where a liquid changes from a liquid state to a gaseous state. Evaporation occurs when enough heat energy is absorbed by the molecules in a liquid state to the point where it starts to vaporize. Do other liquids react in the same way? The answer is yes, but in this experiment, a heat source will be used to evaporate different liquids. The results will show if certain liquids do, in fact, evaporate faster or slower than others depending on their ingredients. How do liquids change from a liquid to a gas phase? A liquid is a primary state of matter that has no specific shape. According to chemwiki.ucdavis.edu, Liquids are more dense and less compressible than gasses. It is on the West Coast near the Ocean as well. It is supposed to get both rain and snowfall throughout the year, but the drought has prevented as sufficient amount from occurring. The drought was caused by overuse and over extraction from water tables and freshwater sources for the commercial agricultural industry. The biggest cause, however, was a high pressure system near the coast diverting storms away from California because it cannot rain California is in a drought. Due to this drought, many crops have dies leading to poverty for many farmers. People are lacking clean drinking water forcing the state to bring it in from other states. Water tables are collapsing as well. To mitigate loss of life close monitoring of dry woods needs to occur that way if a forest fire starts it can be put out easier, or the surrounding areas can evacuate more effectively. People are also shifting away from grass lawns to save water from being wasted on something purely for intrinsic value. They are also using less water for washing dishes and showering to prevent the need for any more water extraction. California is also importing more produce instead of growing it on their own to prevent malnourishment and supplement the lack of produce being grown in state. 8. • 31. There Is An Ancient Chinese Proverb, That Goes By “Give There is an ancient Chinese proverb, that goes by Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime . Today, I would like to discuss my cousin, Stephanie Lam, who went to Taiwan one summer to teach English in a two week enrichment program. Her students, ranging from 12 to 17 year olds, came from low income families around Taiwan, seeking help in learning English, as they do not normally have the proper resources to do so. Though the language barrier was a formidable obstacle, Stephanie bonded with her students and other teachers, and greatly improved their English proficiency. Now, thanks to her, they understand a new language even better than they did before, and therefore have access to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There was a time she didn t know how to describe a white board marker in Chinese, so she asked her class how to say it. One girl, who went by the name of Tracy, eagerly told [Stephanie the word], and had a huge smile on her face (Lam). Even though the language barrier was difficult, she and her students overcame it together with pointing and various other universal gestures and facial expressions. This way, the students were encouraged to understand English better to communicate with their teacher, and my cousin refined her own oral Chinese skills. The students were kind and willing to help despite [her] poor Chinese, and didn t judge [her] either (Lam). The students were happy enough that she came all the way to Taiwan to teach them English. They respected this, and were eager to help her discover a new culture and improve on her Chinese abilities. The barrier was still tough for Stephanie, but thanks to the kindness of her students, it was much easier to bear through and succeed. It was a new and unknown world for my cousin, but she still made the most of her experience and discovered so much more about East Asian culture. The program itself was quite informal, and its students were there on a voluntary basis. However, they still showed a great amount of respect towards [the teachers] (Lam). The students still followed rules and appropriate classroom procedure, and my cousin was more lighthearted with them, as there were no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many breakthroughs may they be scientific, political, or social, have come about after overcoming adversity. Fear is natural and expected when making decisions that will alter the future. But despite this fear, breakthroughs are still possible. Every day, people are pushing at the boundaries of life to expand general knowledge and to build better lives for them and their children. Some may say that fear is a big enough threat to stop freedom. However, I assert that fear accompanies freedom and every time freedom is established, no matter how insignificant, fear is overcame. When fleeing from oppression or taking huge risks in life in hopes of obtaining physical or financial freedom, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are some who argue that when a woman decides to dress in a way that shows off her skin, she is asking for negative attention from men. This reason is why the locker room behavior of men is borderline accepted in primarily American culture. When women are told that the way that they dress puts themselves in danger with men, it shames females into thinking that their freedom to dress is less important because they have to worry about how they are going to be treated. Though I concede that there is no reason to show off inappropriate areas of the body publicly, I still insist that a woman should be able to choose to wear what she wants without being afraid of the consequences. After all, clothes are just clothes. My main point is that women shouldn t have to be afraid because their freedom is more valuable than any man who would take advantage of them. Being safe in this circumstance is purely outrageous when the fact that women can wear clothes however they want and choose their freedom over the safety that is ensured by covering up. Another example that goes hand in hand with freedom to wear what is chosen is the clear backpacks that students of Parkland High School in Florida are required to now use as a result of the shooting in February. The freedom of these students is being taken away so that teachers and administrators can ensure that the students are not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Energy Source Of Energy In an era where fossil fuels are the dominant source of energy, environmentalists and scientists are looking for alternative energy sources in the fear that fossil fuels will sooner or later become consumed by our energy needs. In the hunt to find a strong alternative energy source, scientists have reverted back to an old formula E=MC2. The indicated formula was first thought up by Albert Einstein to describe a part of general relativity in the paper Does the Inertia of a Body Depend Upon Its Energy Content? Furthermore, in his publication Albert Einstein explains that mass and kinetic energy are proportionally equal. Meaning you can transfer energy into mass and vice versa. In addition if you are able to transfer mass into energy that mass will be multiplied by the speed of light (C) squared, meaning that a little mass can turn into a lot of energy. Moreover, Einstein s reasoning for using the speed of light is because atoms when separated travel the speed of light thus carrying a lot of energy. At the time Einstein was working on trying to find ways to separate and or fuse atoms in order to gain energy and put his formula to use. However, today we have found two different ways of doing so in what we call nuclear fusion and nuclear fission. Nuclear fusion has been around since the big bang, as it is the process that powers stars just like ours and is how our universe continues to grow. Moreover, nuclear fusion occurs when two or more atoms fuse together at very high ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
