Maya Collapse Research Paper
In 2012, inspired by the Mayan Long Count calendar, the bizarre belief that apocalypse was
happening brought fear to many people. Whether the Mayans predicted the end of the world or not, it
is undeniable that their civilization is among the most advanced, mysterious, and influential ancient
ones. Although the reason behind Maya Collapse is still being debated, there are a number of theories
proposed by scientists. While Jared Diamond in Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed
and Patricia A. McAnny and Tomas Gallareta Negrón in Questioning Collapse: Human Resilience,
Ecological Vulnerability, and The Aftermath of Empire address the same problem, their perspectives
are rather different. Compared to Patricia A. McAnny and Tomas ... Show more content on

McAnny and Negrón do not see those claims as explanations to Maya Collapse. They assert, The
predominant agricultural features of the Late Classic are those of conservation... In other words, Maya
farmers of the Late Classic seem to have been doing all that they could to prevent land degradation
and promote soil retention and fertility. So population growth does not necessarily lead to land
degradation (McAnny and Negrón, 153). This is not a valid argument: being aware of environmental
issues and trying to protect it sadly do not account to not be impacted by environmental degradation.
The Mayans method of agriculture, slash and burn, could only support a certain range of the
population. It was such a dilemma to Mayans that in order to increase population, they need more
food, and in order to produce more, they have to deforest and increase labor force as they did not have
animal powered transport or plows (Diamond, 165). This is the cause of overpopulation and
environmental retrograding. As one of the most developed ancient civilizations, Mayans should have
noticed these crucial issues, but before the Mayans solved these problems, the following drought
mentioned above might have brought an end to

USA s Involvement in the Vietnam War Essay
USA s Involvement in the Vietnam War
The USA had a colossal hatred for the strong spread of communism that seemed to sweep across
Eastern Asia. Although Vietnam, part of Indochina in South East Asia was many thousands of miles
away from the USA, due to obsessive paranoia and the threat of its national interest, America felt
threatened adequately enough to fight a war there. The USA s suspicion that the communists were
taking over the world was exceptionally strong. Their explanation for their most paranoid attitude lay
in the Korean War, the communist take over of China, the Cold War and also the communist success
over the French in Vietnam. The USA remained indirectly involved until 1965. ... Show more content

The earlier policy of isolationism was now over; containment was underway and it hoped to put an
end to the spread. The USA was determined that no more countries were to turn communist. Also The
Marshall Plan was set up. Marshall aid was offered to many countries including communist ones. The
aid included goods, loans, food and advisers. By helping communist countries also, it could perhaps
advise and persuade the benefits of capitalism, so not only was the USA using the method of
containment, they were attempting to switch those countries already made communist.
1949 was a appalling year for the USA. The USA was no longer the only nuclear power as the USSR
had exploded its very own atom bomb. Also, although the USA has spent around $2 billion supporting
anti communist countries China had become communist. This worried America immeasurably.
The Vietminh, regardless of assistance from China, were forced back from 1950 1951 when General
De Lattre De Tassigny inflicted a series of defeats on the Vietminh. The USA supported the French as
their opponents were communists. If the French won, Vietnam wouldn t be communist. The USA
began becoming indirectly involved by providing financial aid; $500 million a year was put into the
French war effort. Also the USA helped the French set up a non communist government in the south
of the country.

The Importance Of The Centrality And Power Of Love
The centrality and power of love as experienced by humans has led them to write songs throughout the
ages. It has also resulted in verses and stories about love which they describe as the indescribable and
mysterious force that leads them to the peaks of felicity as well as to the depths of despair. Love is the
ultimate human concern. It is also the object of all human striving as well as the universal principle
engirdling all human activities (Brent Linge 3). The need to examine and explore love to its very
depths has been a major human priority from the beginning of time. Plato s symposium is an example
of a forum, which focuses on myths, and motifs of love. It is an ancient discourse, which records
stories and verses in form of speech by six prominent Athenians. Their stories depict the nature and
function of love. Plato s doctrine of Eros, love is egocentric in nature. It is also apathetic towards the
others. It is destructive and discouraging for people who crave a comprehensive understanding of
authentic love and the love for others God included. Unlike other Platonic dialogues which cover
topics such as conceptions of justice, the nature of knowledge and the constitution of reality suggested
by Parmenides, the symposium takes a different, rather sentimental approach. Plato strives to link love
to philosophy. He demonstrates that the concept is after all, the handmaiden of philosophy. He takes
local and traditional theories of love and utilizes them to come up with a

Labeling Theories And Labeling Theory
Labeling theory focuses on the formal and informal application of stigmatization of deviant labels or
social tags by society on some of its members. The process of labeling involves an engagement of
Social groups [that] create deviance by making the rules whose infraction constitutes deviance, and by
applying those rules to particular people and labeling them as outsiders. From this point of view
deviance is not a quality of the act the person commits, but rather a consequence of the application by
others of rules and sanctions to an offender. (Becker 1963). This theory treats such labels as both
dependent and independent variables. Exclusively, it views labels as dependent or effect variable when
it attempts to explain why certain behaviors are socially defined as wrong and certain individuals are
socially selected and linked to such labels; ultimately, stigmatizing the person as deviant. In contrast,
labeling theory also views labels as the independent factors or causes when it hypothesizes that
discrediting labels cause continuation and escalation of the criminal or delinquent behavior. Labeling
theory tries to explain the differential application of official stigmatizing labels. Labeling theory
emerged as a perspective rather that a scientific theory (Cohn and Farrington 2012). After an initial
enthusiasm in the 60 s and 70 s the theory followed disillusionment in the 90 s. It wasn t until the early
2000 s that scholars tried to revive the theory. The aim of

bunch of black clothes and a ski mask in order to look like a ninja. To begin with we started out as a
family, going together and saying, trick or treat! at every door, but eventually Dexter, Dawson and I

high porch, which was like 15 feet over the ground, and began fighting each other with lightsabers, It
was pretty amazing. Their Lightsabers glowed brightly in the dark night. They looked like they were

house we would get a big king sized candy bars. It was like I was in Candyland. This is the best

Examination Of Cell Division And Dna Replication
The experiments of the past week allowed examination of cell division and DNA replication, the
processes by which cells carry out important functions. It is important to have an understanding of
these processes in order to have an understanding of biology. These most small occurrences are the
basis for life in all cells. Without division and DNA replication, organism could not grow and carry
out complex tasks, such as metabolism. In addition, natural selection can only occur where genetic
variation does. This makes division of cells and the recombination of their DNA essential to the
continuance of human life.
Cells that are diploid have two sets of chromosomes, one coming from each parent. This kind of cell is
most familiar to us because this is the way humans are genetically formed. However, the process of
replicating and packaging those genes is more complex than most people realize. The process begins
in the nucleus. The nucleus is the epicenter of control for the cell. In every nucleus there is a set of
chromosomes with our genetic makeup attached to them. These chromosomes are essential to the life
of the cell. Therefore, when cell division, or mitosis, or occurs, each cell gets a copy of the entire set
of chromosomes, rather than just a part of them. Each phase of mitosis carries out a very specific task.
Interphase is the beginning of this process. In this stage, you cannot yet discern chromosomes in the
nucleus. The nucleolus, however, will be visible at this time.

Collective Bargaining Essay
1. Does the presence of unions increase the likelihood that management will be fairer and more
consistent with employers? Management is on the side of the employers, since many of those
positions are unable to in the union (Huston, 2010, p. 294). If the manager holds a full time supervisor
position, then they aren t eligible to join the union, which in turn may upset them when the union
renegotiates their terms, and the nurses get better benefits. An example of this is that a floor supervisor
can actually make less money than that of the floor nurse, and they don t get any overtime pay (S.
Smothers, personal communication, Fall, 2009). There are two types of relations that unions can have
with management; acceptance, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
3. Can the need for unionization be eliminated simply by management being more attentive to worker
needs and being willing to provide employees reasonable working conditions and a voice in decision
making?
I believe that when management is threatened by a union coming, they are desperate at that moment
and would try anything to avoid it from happening. Therefore they are willing to try to negotiate with
nurses to help make them feel as though they are empowered (Huston, 2010, p. 293). However, this
may only be a momentarily gain for the nurse, because if they don t unionize management will go
back to their old practices. An article called The impact of collective bargaining published by the
American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) states decision making
authority with staff nurses without a union is exceedingly rare (2011).
Unions help to increase wages, fringe benefits, better pension plans, safety, help keep RNs and
displace other staff during layoff (if at all possible), restrict unsafe floating, and ban mandatory
overtime and shift rotation (Huston, 2010, p. 291 292, and (National Nurses United, 2010). Without a
union many of these issues would still be in play today. Plus a union will go to bat for them when
needed, which was the case in a Virginia Mason Hospital when they tried to mandate that all nursing
staff had to get immunized (Rosenbaum, 2008).

Personality and Development
Personality is who an individual is, how one does things, manages events and situations, and how one
describes other individuals. One s personality can help guide an individual throughout one s life, in
addition to having power over the situation or task. Many, if not all of these factors of personality,
traits, and genetics, make up who an individual is. One s may believe an individual s personality,
differences, and individualities is the core of who an individual truly is.

Identical twins are many times seen as genetic reproductions representing variations from twin to the
other twin and are created because of environmental factors (Cervone Pervin, 2010). Since identical
twins share identical genetics, his or her personality seems to also share similarities. Moreover, the
environment can impact fraternal twins, resulting in fraternal twins personalities and his or her
characteristics similar to each other. For example, identical twins. Some research shows twins that are
raised in the same residence have little differences from those who are raised in a different home.
Twins that are growing up in the same home does not bring then any more closer to being identical
then what they already are (Cervone Pervin, 2010). In some cases, twins can appear different from one
another than they first thought or how others would assume they would be. However, identical twins
are very close if not the same in the way they act, react, think, feel, etc. it is easy to tell identical twins
at the cost of a little observation time, either with them together or apart (Van Hulle, Lemery Chalfant
Goldsmith, 2007). Temperament plays a role in personality, temperament is also known as a
subdomain of a individuals personality. However, personality goes deeper than one s temperament and
includes values and the way an individual believes in their beliefs.

Temperament also defines a person s emotional, behavioral, and comprehensive

Tone Of George Gascoigne Tone
Throughout this poem, sixteenth century poet George Gascoigne, reveals to his audience what he is
experiencing and the emotions that coincide. It is likely that Gascoigne is both the author and speaker
of this piece, and conveys his complex attitude through different devices. His attitude is conflicting
because of his combination of being both reluctant but still tempted. Through his use of expressive
diction and comparisons, his audience is able to better understand the issues that he is faced with.
Gascoigne doesn t seem like he s trying to sugarcoat the way he is feeling. He makes it clear that he is
in a state of sadness or regret. Through his diction, it is evident that he feels this way because of all the
descriptive words he uses. Early in the poem he says, To see me hold my louring head so low.
(Gascoigne 2) Through his use of the word louring, one can make the straightforward assumption that
he is more than just upset. The word holds a weight that suggests he is sullen, his whole mood is
currently negatively affected because of the situation he is in. He has to purposely restrict himself
from looking at the woman, which could generate further pain. Later in the poem, he says Because
your blazing eyes my bale have bred. (Gascoigne 14) The word bale conveys that this other person has
caused him misery. Misery expresses more than just temporary sadness, but rather prolonged feelings
of emotional pain. This isn t just a minor inconvenience to him, but rather

Sensible Violence Within Cultural Texts Essay examples
According to Ian Almond in the article Mullahs, Mystics, Moderates and Moghuls: The Many Islams
of Salman Rushdie , Rushdie wrote this piece from a medieval religiousness perspective, most
pointedly making use of symbols such as the ancient holy relic whose disappearance inspires
countless deaths (Almond 3). These violent deaths mark something more in the theme of the book;
presumptuously, Rushdie is attempting to enlighten his readers with the many faces of Islam, this
particular story showing the face of Islam who s built in obsolescence stifles the new (Almond 3). The
vial from the prophet Muhammad is laced with mystical and gruesome power, which to all whom

Salman s select choice in killing them both in these different ways could be a symbolic of defined
Islamic gender roles, such that women are justifiably slaughtered by their superiors, while men are
indirectly killed. Instances like this exemplify Salman s negative tone towards old Islam; no religious
culture should turn to violent outbreaks so drastically and he s using these instances to prove that
point. in his somnolent anger, the moneylender thrust his sword fatally through its [Atta s] heart
(1524) he was so overwhelmed by remorse that he turned the sword upon himself (1524) Hashim s
committing suicide after realizing that he s murdered his own daughter proves that his conscience is
still intact regardless of the relic s power over him. That earlier in the short story had allowed him to
justify selfishly keeping the vial for himself, in his remorse, which is solidified in killing himself. For
the reader, this evokes sympathy toward his character, as the blame for his actions is passed on to the
hair s evil magic. Out of this emerges a theme of individualism versus collectivism; the first side of
Hashim is individualism, as he sought to inculcate... a healthy independence of spirit in his children.
In addition, he presents himself to be not a godly man , but rather as a man who lives honorably,

Poetry Analysis of Introduction to Poetry
Poetry analysis of Introduction to Poetry
The Poem Introduction to Poetry is by Billy Collins, an English poet, and it is about how teachers
often force students to over analyze poetry and to try decipher every possible meaning portrayed
throughout the poem rather than allowing the students to form their own interpretation of the poem
based on their own experiences.
Throughout the poem, a number of literary devices are used. For example: or press an ear against its
hive . Using this metaphor, Billy Collins is comparing the body of a poem to the hive of a bee. The
hive of a bee appears to be something dangerous and unknown, just like a new poem, never before
seen, with which one is unfamiliar. Using this metaphor, Billy Collins is ... Show more content on

This is an effective metaphor as water skiing brings about a great sense of joy and is fun, just as
reading a poem in Billy Collins opinion should be.
The use of onomatopoeic devices and onomatopoeic words are abundant in this poem. For instance, I
say drop a mouse into a poem is a line whereby the word drop , a very onomatopoeic word, effectively
suggests that the reader of a poem must gently analyze a poem. This is portrayed through the gentle p
sound of the word and this is therefore effective as the reader gets a sense of the gentleness Billy
Collins wishes his readers had when it comes to analyzing poetry.
The fact that enjambment is used throughout the poem such as in the lines, like a colour slide or press
an ear against its hive portrays a lack of structure and therefore emphasizes the initial enjoyment one
feels when reading a poem before the chore of analyzing it begins. This is also emphasized through
the fact that the poem is a free verse poem.
The poem suddenly becomes much darker in the last stanza and a Billy Collins explains how teachers,
students or general readers of poetry torture a poem by being what he believes is cruelly analytical. He
says, all they want to do is tie the poem to a chair with rope and torture a confession out of it . Here,
the poem is being personified yet again and this brings about an almost human connection between the
reader and the poem. This use of personification is effective as it makes the

The Two Eras of Globalization and Trade
Globalization and Trade: Since the mid of the Nineteenth century particularly after the end of the cold
war, Globalization has become the catchphrase that attracts everybody. However Globalization is a
complex concept to be defined, there are many different definitions of Globalization. According to
Thomas Friedman in his book The Lexus and the Olive Tree, he defined Globalization in terms of
PARADIGM SHIFTS as the follow: it is the inevitable integration of markets, nation states and
technologies to a degree never witnessed before in a way that is enabling individuals, corporations and
nation states to reach around the world farther, faster, deeper and cheaper than ever before and in a
way that is enabling the world to reach into individuals, corporations and nation states farther, faster,
and deeper, cheaper than ever before. Moreover, Globalization is represented in two eras. First, which
started in the mid of the nineteenth century and ended with the start of the World War I (WWI), and
the Second era began in the aftereffects of the World War II (WWII) and still continuous until today.
The Two eras of Globalization were described by increased cooperation and integration in trade,
smooth capital flows and free movement of labors. In another words, under the umbrella of
Globalization, any product that has been manufactured in somewhere in the globe could easily finds
its way into the market in another part of the world. In addition, since this process became the

Anti Semitism On Swing Kids And School Ties
Anti Semitism in Swing Kids and School Ties
Anti Semitism has no historical, political, and certainly no philosophical origins. Anti Semitism is a
disease Daniel Barenboim. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary anti Semitism is defined as
hatred of Jewish people. Two films were released in the 1990 s that deal with different issues
involving anti Semitism. One titled Swing Kids was set in Nazi Germany and tells the story of a group
of teenage resisters who rebel by doing swing dance, but are forced to be involved with the Nazis
anyways. The other film is titled School Ties . This film is set in the United states, but also deals with
issues of anti Semitism. In the film, Swing Kids a group of teens named Peter, Thomas and Arvid
rebel against the Nazis by being swing kids, those that are involved swing music. Swing music was
not tolerated by the Nazis in those times therefore making it such rebellious act. One day Thomas
scrapes Arvid s record and as a way to repay him, Thomas decides to steal a radio from a lady who
owns a stolen Jewish radio. Peter and Thomas are both in the midst of stealing the radio when they are
caught by German police. Thomas escapes, but Peter is caught, taken away and forced to join the

The United States During The Postwar Period
Following the increase in immigration rates to the United States during the postwar period, how well
immigrants do in the US Labour market in terms of earnings and opportunities has been of great
interest to Labour economists. Prior to the early 1960 s systems of immigration quotas such as the
National Origins formula were in place aimed to reduce the number of individuals seeking to enter
and reside in the country, however following the Hart Cellar Act (1965) there was an upsurge in
immigrants relocating to the US. This increase has provided for a lot of data that allows us to analyze
many trends related to immigration leading to the development of policies that result in economic well

Particularly when looking at returns to education and work experience, individuals migrating from
countries with different socio economic backgrounds may not possess human capital that is
transferable in the host country. In a study comparing migrants from neighboring countries with
German immigrants, Schmidt (1997) concluded that the immigrants who completed their primary,
secondary and higher education in Germany had similar earnings to native workers, while immigrants
who completed their education outside the host country earned significantly lower. Bratsberg, Barth
and Raaum (2006) find that growth in immigrant wages are a function of the time spent in the host
country as immigrants will typically earn less pay during the first years after permanently moving.
Immigrants are placed directly at a disadvantage in the labour market as soon as they ve immigrated

The Use of Images in William Carlos Williams , The Young Housewife
As is typical of most Modernist poetry, William Carlos Williams uses very specific images in The
Young Housewife to reveal not merely a particular circumstance or event, but to also suggest
underlying themes and ideas of his subject matter. For example, he gives to the reader various real and
imagined images, such her moving about in negligee behind closed doors, or her going about her daily
affairs, that are at once very seductive and suggestive of ideas that supercede their appearances. These
images especially accentuate the young housewife s naturalness and beauty. However, they are quickly
contrasted by a comparison drawn by Williams of the young lady to a ... Show more content on

If the leaves are separated from the tree, they quickly lose their color and texture, drying up until they
are brown and brittle, and die.
Taking this into consideration, we can now move on to what we know about Williams young
housewife. Truthfully, very little is mentioned about her except, of course, her relative age and her
marital status (for some reason these two things just seem to jump out of the text). It is very clear,
however, that Williams does not limit the young housewife to these two aspects of her life, but also
emphasizes other aspects in particular her natural beauty and sexuality, and her separation and
isolation from the outside world.
It is evident that The Young Housewife is a very sexually charged poem. Through its subject matter,
its language, its imagery, and even its use of phrasing, Williams accentuates the young housewife s
seductive and almost unrestrained nature. For instance, He describes her moving about behind closed
doors, dressed in negligee, or going to the curb un corseted to call ice man, or allowing her hair to
hang freely, only periodically tucking it in. All of these images suggest strongly that the young
housewife is a natural and unrestrained character. She is free any imposed social constraints that has
the power to squelch her pristine and almost wild nature.
This sense of unrestraint of the young housewife, however, is purely essential, and not actual or

the state of California is in the midst of a severe drought. This drought is one of the worst droughts in
the state s recorded history. Due to this drought, more than a thousand of California s residents have
lost their water. The drought sparks a conflict for the residents. People can not bathe, use their toilets,
wash their dishes, or do anything with water. Because of the overuse of groundwater, a law is being
established in the California State Legislature that would maintain aquifer, the pumping of
groundwater, for the first time in history. In other words, residents would not be able to pump water
which is naturally available under their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If California regulates aquifer, farmers are going to be looking at buying less pickups, employing less
people, and buying less tractors (Source 1). We are tied to the groundwater 100 percent, a farmer said,
so ultimately it will have an effect on consumer prices. There s just no getting around that (Source 1).
The crippling drought is expected to cost the state $2.2 billion in 2014 and put more than 17,000 farm
workers out of a job, according to a July study partly funded by the state s department of food and
agriculture (Source 2). If aquifer is regulated, the economy is going to crash, prices of food will go up,
if prices of food go up, prices of everything will go up, farmers will go out of business, people who
work for farmers will lose their jobs, people who sell farmers equipment won t sell enough hardware
and make less money, and the government will lose billions of dollars. Also, ⅓ of the world is fed by
farmers in California and if aquifer is regulated, ⅓ of the world will not have enough food and there
might be a possibility of hunger. Californians aren t realizing this. City folks just don t understand that
they re biting the hand that feeds them (Source 1). We need groundwater for the sake of our

Essay on Indian Givers
Indian Givers
How the Indians of the Americas transformed the world
By J. McIver Weatherford This paper tries to explain Jack Weatherford s Indian Givers by examining
the history of the Native American connection to many agricultural products would not have been
produced without the knowledge that Indians gave. Weatherford further stipulates that it is through
these advances in agriculture that the United States has remained a strong contender in the global
market, that without the influences of the Native Americans on the early settlers those early
immigrants to America would not have survived. Through his work, Indian Givers: How Indians of
the Americas Transformed the World , Weatherford brings an insight to a people that most ... Show

The drugs together with their improved agriculture made possible the population explosion of the last
several centuries. They developed and refined a form of democracy that has been haphazardly and
inadequately adopted in many parts of the world. They were the true colonizers of America who cut
the trails through the jungles and deserts, made the roads, and built the cities upon which modern
America is based. America owes a debt to slavery that can never be repaid. That s not to say it shouldn
t be. At the very least, it should be acknowledged, validated, and honored with the respect that it
deserves. Presents information and ideas that are too often overlooked in our day to day thinking about
what we have, and where those things came from. Issues rose such as the American Indians
contributions to the geopolitical influence of American silver and gold on the rest of the world.
Questions from my youth are where did all of the Inca gold go to? Why is not Spain not a major world
power? Why does it seem as though most foods are native to the Americas? These are questions that
are avoided in popular history books, giving all of the stability of modern life to the credit of the
civilized Europeans.

The Murder Of Nicole Simpson Case
If it doesn t fit, you must acquit a statement which was used by Johnnie Cochran. A quote from the
People of the State of California v. Orenthal James Simpson was one of America s most famous cases
that brought attention to the black community. This Era played a logo in the impact, and after effects
of this case. A case that brought attention to many American s, immigrants, nationwide viewers and
also, a case that is known to today s society as the OJ Simpson case. This case raised concern and
debate over the black community. Orenthal James Simpson was a wealthy black man that was a retired
college and professional football hero, actor and he was also a commentator for Monday night live
football. He was accused for the murder of Nicole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The public lost trust in the police. The public lost their respect for the department because they felt
that justice was not served. What cause many citizens to question this was the fact that the same police
department who were involved in the Rodney King s case were also involved in the Oj Simpson case.
Oj Simpson s defense team was known as the Dream team . They were made up of multiple lawyers,
friends and close acquaintances. They defended him and won the case against the people of the state
of California. Johnnie Cochran one of the Dream team members played a major role in the outcome of
this case. In an interview done on Barbara Walter s television show the lead member, Robert Sharprio
asserted that he hired Mr. Cochran because he was black. In the interview with Barbara Walters, when
she asked if he hired Jhonnie Cochran bacuse he was black, he said yes. Miss Walter s also asked if
the race card played a part and he admitted it did. He said that they did not play the race card but they
dealt it. On the other side, was the lead prosecutor by the name of Marcia Clark. She was ridiculed,
especially by men during this case. Her experience during this case led her towards writing a book.
She had to much confidence in herself. She knew that the evidence would prove her case however, it
did not. She underestimated Oj Simpson celebrity status and how he used his race to manipulate the
jury. During the trail citizens felt that she was incompetent and her

Coastal Farm And Ranch Case Study
The store I choose to walk is Coastal Farm and Ranch in Mount Vernon, Washington. Coastal Farm
and Ranch is a farm and ranch equipment retailer that sells other items such as clothing, shoes, guns,
hunting supplies, animal food and housing and around spring live chickens and rabbits. The company
was founded in 1963 and is based in Albany, Oregon. There are 13 stores which are located in
Washington and Oregon. The section of the store I am going to focus on is their new gun and
ammunitions department. Putting in this new section involved taking out and relocating hardware. The
layout is easy to maneuver, the gun cases are organized and the department is staffed efficiently. When
you walk into the department there are 7 display cases that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In order to see how successful the merchandise is I would look at the previous year s sales in that
subclass for comparison. This would report the overall comp over last year which should be a rather
large percentage. Another report I would look at involves any sporting goods that had been in the store
prior to the introduction of the new department. Looking at the individual sales of these items would
show the increase or decrease in sales from last year. On average pre introduction of the sporting
goods department I saw maybe 20 people in the store. Now I cannot even count how many people are
shopping in the store, which shows an increase in customer traffic potentially increasing sales. The
turnover on merchandise is hard to see with the type of merchandise on display, there are no outs on in
the display cases. There are also no obvious set locations for the merchandise in the case. If the last
gun of a specific model is sold a different one can be put in its place. One item in this department I can
discuss is the .22 ammo, I know that they only receive a shipment of 200 boxes a day and according to
the sales associate they sold out at 11:30 AM. The price per box is $25, so the sales for that SKU alone
are $5,000. There are a few other types of ammo that are limited stock and sell out before

Mere Christianity Chapter 1 Summary
This month we were assigned to read the last book of Mere Christianity. Chapter one talks about God
s relation to us as followers of Christ. Chapter two discusses the Trinity, and how even though there
are three parts he is a personal God. Chapter three addressed God with time. God is not in the past or
future, but he is in the present. Chapter four sets up the chapter with an image of two books stacked on
each other. These books are a symbol of God as a father and as a son, and along with this he discusses
God s love for us. Chapter five addresses how God breathes life into us, because before we were
lifeless. Chapter six brings attention to what is discussed in chapter five, but it also talks about God in
relation to the human race as a whole. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I found this section of reading repetitive. In this portion of the reading C.S Lewis is wrapping up the
loose ends of his discussion on Christianity. Even though I struggled a bit to get through this reading I
still pulled out some interesting points from the reading. One chapter of the book that I enjoyed is
chapter eight. Chapter eight discusses if Christianity is hard or easy. I found this chapter to appeal to
me most because it is something I am very passionate about. During all three of my group s meetings I
have discussed how throughout the book C.S Lewis made it a point to recognize that Christianity is
not a walk in the park. C. S Lewis says in chapter 8, The Christian way is different: harder, and easier.
Christ says Give me All. I don t want so much of your time and so much of your money and so much
of your work: I want you (pg. 196). I think this quote sums up Christianity because it is not about if
your walk with the Lord is easy or hard because everyone s faith is different. At the end of the day the
Lord wants all of you and it is as simple as that. Along with this C.S Lewis tied in a lot of imagery
throughout the chapters of this book. He brings imagery with the books, the to soldiers, and by
referencing the story of Beauty and the Beast.BY using this imagery C.S Lewis was able to captivate
the reader s attention. All in all, this book had moments where it would drag, but then Lewis would
say something to draw in the

Critical Analysis On Hindustan Motors
CRITICAL ANALYSIS:
Critical analysis of this project requires thorough understanding of its marketing mix strategy. To give
personal views about anything first of all one should make himself familiar with the subject. That s
what I did. Before starting the report , i went throughout on line papers case studies etc ..that was
explaining about all the marketing mix strategy about or related to the topic. I found that everywhere
the concept to be used was marketing mix but its execution was different. Like All roads lead to Rome
all of them were leading to the success of their company by successful execution of marketing mix
strategy. During the lectures I heard the tutors saying about getting into marketing mix by doing a

According to me the main reason is when they came into existence they didn t have any competitors
all they need to do is manufacturing and selling of the car. As I have stated earlier before 80s Indian
automobile market was seller s market which means manufacturing companies have the command on
the market not the customers. Having customer s command on the market is essential otherwise the
development stops. The same thing happened, ambassador remains the same car as it was when it was
first introduced. Hindustan Motors didn t promote the car because as a single Indian car it was already
famous. Distribution was not that much difficult because car owners were few. The price of the
ambassador was relatively high because those who needed the car didn t have another option. Also the
government rules on importing the components were harsh and company was paying high prices for
them. It seems obvious what the company did during those years. But when the scenario changed
during 90s the market became open to all the government rules became soft and lots of other car
manufacturers jumped into the Indian automobile market. This was the time when the ambassador
should have changed its strategies. However they didn t make considerable changes on the other side
new companies like Maruti Suzuki got the nerve of an Indian customer and introduced cheapest car in
the market. Due to this drastic change once giant Hindustan Motors has become a company in loss
with one of its most successful car an ambassador in

Who Is Fanny Mendelssohn
Fanny Mendelssohn was born on November 14, 1805 in Hamburg, Germany to parents Abraham and
Lea Mendelssohn Batholdy. She was the oldest of four siblings. Her brother Felix Mendelssohn also
went on to become a famous composer. Fanny learned the piano from her mother and at the age of
thirteen she could play many of the compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach by heart. Her and her
brother Felix were considered music prodigies. Though her parents were very supportive of Felix
having a career in music they didn t have the same attitude toward Fanny. Her father believed she
should just be a housewife.
Eventually she married the painter, Wilhem Hensel. They had one named Sebastian Ludwig Felix
Hensel, who was born a year after their marriage. Some ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are part of a famous series of piano pieces she wrote based off the months of the year. She wrote
them as a musical diary of the year she spent with her family in Rome. The music started out slow and
deep then slowly bits of lighter, higher notes fell into place. It stayed slow for a while. The notes softly
flowing around on another. Gently gathering speed.
Then it picked up to a faster speed. After a short while it reached an almost astonishing speed. The
melody dancing like butterflies whirling around each in a garden. The feeling of adventure seemed
woven into the music itself. Some parts you could tell how the months were being portrayed. You
almost expect to look out the window and see it being that time of year. A frosty wonderland. Chapter
3: The Instruments
The piano is the only instrument used in these pieces of music. This perfectly captured the month of
the year theme that Fanny Mendelssohn was trying to express. She was also able to express the thrill
of adventure in a new place with the quick pace of the notes. The rhythm was very complex. The high
notes and deep notes twirling around each other perfectly. Accelerating speed throughout with the
intervals of slower melody could give you shivers of pleasure. These songs show how the almost
common piano can help take you into another

Jung Personality Typology Test Is Designed For Determine...
Jung Personality Typology Test is designed to determine personality type. There are 16 different
personality types measured by 8 traits: extraversion, introversion, sensing, intuition, feeling, thinking,

over intuition, slight preference of feeling over thinking, and slight preference of judging over
perceiving (Jung Typology Test, 2017). The Communications Quiz is designed to measure how
effective leaders are at all points in the communications process. The results determined the leader

Part 4. Relationship Building Action Plan People skills are instrumental to a leader s success because
they allow leaders to effectively communicate and listen to their employees. They add value to the
organization by creating trust and mutual respect. Leaders with good people skills communicate
effectively, listen to their employees, understand their employees, and their employees trust them. The
leader s performance was severely affected from lack of people skills. Communication, emotional IQ,
and personality were all areas that the leader needed to improve upon. Communication was identified
multiple times in the peer review and evaluation as a deficiency. The leader s lack of communication
directly led to a loss of productivity in the department. Furthermore, employees felt that they were not
being listening to, leading to a loss of moral and trust. Also, the leader was completely oblivious to the
emotions within the department. If the leader would have taken the time to perceive and understand
the employees emotions, they would have been able to identify the issues within the department and
take corrective measures. Also, things would have never gotten this out of hand if the leader had a
better personality. Many of the employees felt the leader was unapproachable and acted better than
they were, causing employees to stop following the leader. The leader follower relationship is
instrumental to fulfilling the strategic plan of the leader. The leader

Catholic leaders had control of the Holy Bible without many recorded challenges for more than one
thousand years, according to several historical documents. Church authorities told church members
they could neither read nor interpret the text themselves. The principles clergy taught in church were
what churchgoers often believed. Eventually, a high ranking German monk named Martin Luther
challenged church officials in the 16th century and began reading and interpreting the Scriptures. As
he studied the Bible, he found many faults in the Catholic Church s teachings and believed everyone
should have an opportunity to read the Bible himself or herself and determine what the Bible meant.
During this Protestant Reformation period, many churches ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There are some valid reasons for updating the words and sentence structure of the Bible s text, but
there are also reasons to leave the passages as close to their original meaning and syntax as possible.
Hillel Halkin, in his article Doing Justice to the Bible, writes that new translations were driven by two
motivating forces. [First, there was a] desire to apply to Bible translation the new philosophical,
archaeological, and historical knowledge that modern scholarship had made available. [Second,
scholars wanted] to adopt a freer approach to a Hebrew and Greek text no longer considered the
revealed truth but rather, in the spirit of the 20th century, a great cultural and spiritual document
composed by different authors in different periods and best approached with the flexibility that any
good literary translation should have (55). While these two proposals seem like a good idea for most
manuscripts, the Bible is not just another book. Those of the Christian faith often acknowledge the
Bible as a sacred book inspired directly by God. In Hebrews 4:12 of the New International Version of
the Bible, the collection of books describes itself as living and active. Sharper than any double edged
sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, dividing joints and marrow; it judges the attitudes
and thoughts of the heart. The Bible has become so influential that it became the first book translated
into more than one language, and it has been

A Brief Note On The Local Small Businesses
Have you ever considered counting how many local small businesses are there in your community?
Do you think that business would do way better if it could reach out further through a website? Fact is
there are 27 million small businesses on this earth, which means there are several products and
services offered, what if these small business had the potential to upscale but the local market wasn t
great enough? Some of the best ran small businesses have websites that has given the business a great
deal of benefits. Some of the benefits that help small businesses are that they help gain credibility,
save money, accessibility, wider range for target market, customer service and, convenience. I would
like to start with one of the most influential effects a website has on a business which is convenience.
Convenience is a very influential factor, usually if a customer can easily find your site you would see
an increase in traffic on your site. Also, If your website is more convenient than your competitors that
will give you a huge advantage over them, while spreading the name of your brand across the country
rapidly. Another beneficial aspect of having a website is it helps your business save more money. A
website can help a business with money from different angles. People automatically think that having
a website could be costly, well not necessarily it depends on how you utilize the tools given. Websites
will be there all the time and is free to access, versus having a

Art Vs Visual Art
Visual art as we know it today is completely different from what had been created before the 20th
century. Realistic depictions of the surrounding reality has given up its place in favor of attempts to
convey the artist s inner world directly through the diversity of shapes, colors, and means of visual
depiction. Hence, a reasonable question arises: how should one evaluate pieces of modern art given
that traditional criteria of assessment do not apply easily in this case? Unlike traditional art, where one
can make judgments about the scene, an artist s skills, and composition, modern art should be
evaluated in a slightly different manner. Even though there are numerous artistic laws and rules, any
assessment made about a piece of art remains subjective; I believe one can easily explain why
someone likes a particular piece of art, but will not be able to persuade those who disagree with them
or have no artistic taste. Considering this, let us refer to Scream a famous painting by Edward Munch.
Though it was painted more than 110 years ago, it still makes a perfect example of modern art.
Personally, I usually evaluate paintings by their lucidity, strength of artistic means (such as
composition, coloring, and so on), and the creator s ability to communicate with the audience through
a canvas. Despite its expressionistic, distorted shapes and disturbing colors (which will be discussed
later) Scream is still a realistic painting, performed in an expressionist manner. Its

  • 2. Maya Collapse Research Paper In 2012, inspired by the Mayan Long Count calendar, the bizarre belief that apocalypse was happening brought fear to many people. Whether the Mayans predicted the end of the world or not, it is undeniable that their civilization is among the most advanced, mysterious, and influential ancient ones. Although the reason behind Maya Collapse is still being debated, there are a number of theories proposed by scientists. While Jared Diamond in Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fail or Succeed and Patricia A. McAnny and Tomas Gallareta Negrón in Questioning Collapse: Human Resilience, Ecological Vulnerability, and The Aftermath of Empire address the same problem, their perspectives are rather different. Compared to Patricia A. McAnny and Tomas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... McAnny and Negrón do not see those claims as explanations to Maya Collapse. They assert, The predominant agricultural features of the Late Classic are those of conservation... In other words, Maya farmers of the Late Classic seem to have been doing all that they could to prevent land degradation and promote soil retention and fertility. So population growth does not necessarily lead to land degradation (McAnny and Negrón, 153). This is not a valid argument: being aware of environmental issues and trying to protect it sadly do not account to not be impacted by environmental degradation. The Mayans method of agriculture, slash and burn, could only support a certain range of the population. It was such a dilemma to Mayans that in order to increase population, they need more food, and in order to produce more, they have to deforest and increase labor force as they did not have animal powered transport or plows (Diamond, 165). This is the cause of overpopulation and environmental retrograding. As one of the most developed ancient civilizations, Mayans should have noticed these crucial issues, but before the Mayans solved these problems, the following drought mentioned above might have brought an end to ... Although Vietnam, part of Indochina in South East Asia was many thousands of miles away from the USA, due to obsessive paranoia and the threat of its national interest, America felt threatened adequately enough to fight a war there. The USA s suspicion that the communists were taking over the world was exceptionally strong. Their explanation for their most paranoid attitude lay in the Korean War, the communist take over of China, the Cold War and also the communist success over the French in Vietnam. The USA remained indirectly involved until 1965. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The earlier policy of isolationism was now over; containment was underway and it hoped to put an end to the spread. The USA was determined that no more countries were to turn communist. Also The Marshall Plan was set up. Marshall aid was offered to many countries including communist ones. The aid included goods, loans, food and advisers. By helping communist countries also, it could perhaps advise and persuade the benefits of capitalism, so not only was the USA using the method of containment, they were attempting to switch those countries already made communist. 1949 was a appalling year for the USA. The USA was no longer the only nuclear power as the USSR had exploded its very own atom bomb. Also, although the USA has spent around $2 billion supporting anti communist countries China had become communist. This worried America immeasurably. The Vietminh, regardless of assistance from China, were forced back from 1950 1951 when General De Lattre De Tassigny inflicted a series of defeats on the Vietminh. The USA supported the French as their opponents were communists. If the French won, Vietnam wouldn t be communist. The USA began becoming indirectly involved by providing financial aid; $500 million a year was put into the French war effort. • 4. The Importance Of The Centrality And Power Of Love The centrality and power of love as experienced by humans has led them to write songs throughout the ages. It has also resulted in verses and stories about love which they describe as the indescribable and mysterious force that leads them to the peaks of felicity as well as to the depths of despair. Love is the ultimate human concern. It is also the object of all human striving as well as the universal principle engirdling all human activities (Brent Linge 3). The need to examine and explore love to its very depths has been a major human priority from the beginning of time. Plato s symposium is an example of a forum, which focuses on myths, and motifs of love. It is an ancient discourse, which records stories and verses in form of speech by six prominent Athenians. Their stories depict the nature and function of love. Plato s doctrine of Eros, love is egocentric in nature. It is also apathetic towards the others. It is destructive and discouraging for people who crave a comprehensive understanding of authentic love and the love for others God included. Unlike other Platonic dialogues which cover topics such as conceptions of justice, the nature of knowledge and the constitution of reality suggested by Parmenides, the symposium takes a different, rather sentimental approach. Plato strives to link love to philosophy. He demonstrates that the concept is after all, the handmaiden of philosophy. He takes local and traditional theories of love and utilizes them to come up with a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Labeling Theories And Labeling Theory Labeling theory focuses on the formal and informal application of stigmatization of deviant labels or social tags by society on some of its members. The process of labeling involves an engagement of Social groups [that] create deviance by making the rules whose infraction constitutes deviance, and by applying those rules to particular people and labeling them as outsiders. From this point of view deviance is not a quality of the act the person commits, but rather a consequence of the application by others of rules and sanctions to an offender. (Becker 1963). This theory treats such labels as both dependent and independent variables. Exclusively, it views labels as dependent or effect variable when it attempts to explain why certain behaviors are socially defined as wrong and certain individuals are socially selected and linked to such labels; ultimately, stigmatizing the person as deviant. In contrast, labeling theory also views labels as the independent factors or causes when it hypothesizes that discrediting labels cause continuation and escalation of the criminal or delinquent behavior. Labeling theory tries to explain the differential application of official stigmatizing labels. Labeling theory emerged as a perspective rather that a scientific theory (Cohn and Farrington 2012). After an initial enthusiasm in the 60 s and 70 s the theory followed disillusionment in the 90 s. It wasn t until the early 2000 s that scholars tried to revive the theory. The aim of ... • 8. Examination Of Cell Division And Dna Replication The experiments of the past week allowed examination of cell division and DNA replication, the processes by which cells carry out important functions. It is important to have an understanding of these processes in order to have an understanding of biology. These most small occurrences are the basis for life in all cells. Without division and DNA replication, organism could not grow and carry out complex tasks, such as metabolism. In addition, natural selection can only occur where genetic variation does. This makes division of cells and the recombination of their DNA essential to the continuance of human life. Cells that are diploid have two sets of chromosomes, one coming from each parent. This kind of cell is most familiar to us because this is the way humans are genetically formed. However, the process of replicating and packaging those genes is more complex than most people realize. The process begins in the nucleus. The nucleus is the epicenter of control for the cell. In every nucleus there is a set of chromosomes with our genetic makeup attached to them. These chromosomes are essential to the life of the cell. Therefore, when cell division, or mitosis, or occurs, each cell gets a copy of the entire set of chromosomes, rather than just a part of them. Each phase of mitosis carries out a very specific task. Interphase is the beginning of this process. In this stage, you cannot yet discern chromosomes in the nucleus. The nucleolus, however, will be visible at this time. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Collective Bargaining Essay 1. Does the presence of unions increase the likelihood that management will be fairer and more consistent with employers? Management is on the side of the employers, since many of those positions are unable to in the union (Huston, 2010, p. 294). If the manager holds a full time supervisor position, then they aren t eligible to join the union, which in turn may upset them when the union renegotiates their terms, and the nurses get better benefits. An example of this is that a floor supervisor can actually make less money than that of the floor nurse, and they don t get any overtime pay (S. Smothers, personal communication, Fall, 2009). There are two types of relations that unions can have with management; acceptance, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 3. Can the need for unionization be eliminated simply by management being more attentive to worker needs and being willing to provide employees reasonable working conditions and a voice in decision making? I believe that when management is threatened by a union coming, they are desperate at that moment and would try anything to avoid it from happening. Therefore they are willing to try to negotiate with nurses to help make them feel as though they are empowered (Huston, 2010, p. 293). However, this may only be a momentarily gain for the nurse, because if they don t unionize management will go back to their old practices. An article called The impact of collective bargaining published by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) states decision making authority with staff nurses without a union is exceedingly rare (2011). Unions help to increase wages, fringe benefits, better pension plans, safety, help keep RNs and displace other staff during layoff (if at all possible), restrict unsafe floating, and ban mandatory overtime and shift rotation (Huston, 2010, p. 291 292, and (National Nurses United, 2010). Without a union many of these issues would still be in play today. Plus a union will go to bat for them when needed, which was the case in a Virginia Mason Hospital when they tried to mandate that all nursing staff had to get immunized (Rosenbaum, 2008). ... • 11. Tone Of George Gascoigne Tone Throughout this poem, sixteenth century poet George Gascoigne, reveals to his audience what he is experiencing and the emotions that coincide. It is likely that Gascoigne is both the author and speaker of this piece, and conveys his complex attitude through different devices. His attitude is conflicting because of his combination of being both reluctant but still tempted. Through his use of expressive diction and comparisons, his audience is able to better understand the issues that he is faced with. Gascoigne doesn t seem like he s trying to sugarcoat the way he is feeling. He makes it clear that he is in a state of sadness or regret. Through his diction, it is evident that he feels this way because of all the descriptive words he uses. Early in the poem he says, To see me hold my louring head so low. (Gascoigne 2) Through his use of the word louring, one can make the straightforward assumption that he is more than just upset. The word holds a weight that suggests he is sullen, his whole mood is currently negatively affected because of the situation he is in. He has to purposely restrict himself from looking at the woman, which could generate further pain. Later in the poem, he says Because your blazing eyes my bale have bred. (Gascoigne 14) The word bale conveys that this other person has caused him misery. Misery expresses more than just temporary sadness, but rather prolonged feelings of emotional pain. This isn t just a minor inconvenience to him, but rather ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Throughout the poem, a number of literary devices are used. For example: or press an ear against its hive . Using this metaphor, Billy Collins is comparing the body of a poem to the hive of a bee. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is an effective metaphor as water skiing brings about a great sense of joy and is fun, just as reading a poem in Billy Collins opinion should be. The use of onomatopoeic devices and onomatopoeic words are abundant in this poem. For instance, I say drop a mouse into a poem is a line whereby the word drop , a very onomatopoeic word, effectively suggests that the reader of a poem must gently analyze a poem. This is portrayed through the gentle p sound of the word and this is therefore effective as the reader gets a sense of the gentleness Billy Collins wishes his readers had when it comes to analyzing poetry. The fact that enjambment is used throughout the poem such as in the lines, like a colour slide or press an ear against its hive portrays a lack of structure and therefore emphasizes the initial enjoyment one feels when reading a poem before the chore of analyzing it begins. This is also emphasized through the fact that the poem is a free verse poem. The poem suddenly becomes much darker in the last stanza and a Billy Collins explains how teachers, students or general readers of poetry torture a poem by being what he believes is cruelly analytical. He says, all they want to do is tie the poem to a chair with rope and torture a confession out of it . The Two Eras of Globalization and Trade Globalization and Trade: Since the mid of the Nineteenth century particularly after the end of the cold war, Globalization has become the catchphrase that attracts everybody. However Globalization is a complex concept to be defined, there are many different definitions of Globalization. According to Thomas Friedman in his book The Lexus and the Olive Tree, he defined Globalization in terms of PARADIGM SHIFTS as the follow: it is the inevitable integration of markets, nation states and technologies to a degree never witnessed before in a way that is enabling individuals, corporations and nation states to reach around the world farther, faster, deeper and cheaper than ever before and in a way that is enabling the world to reach into individuals, corporations and nation states farther, faster, and deeper, cheaper than ever before. Moreover, Globalization is represented in two eras. First, which started in the mid of the nineteenth century and ended with the start of the World War I (WWI), and the Second era began in the aftereffects of the World War II (WWII) and still continuous until today. The Two eras of Globalization were described by increased cooperation and integration in trade, smooth capital flows and free movement of labors. The Use of Images in William Carlos Williams , The Young Housewife As is typical of most Modernist poetry, William Carlos Williams uses very specific images in The Young Housewife to reveal not merely a particular circumstance or event, but to also suggest underlying themes and ideas of his subject matter. For example, he gives to the reader various real and imagined images, such her moving about in negligee behind closed doors, or her going about her daily affairs, that are at once very seductive and suggestive of ideas that supercede their appearances. These images especially accentuate the young housewife s naturalness and beauty. However, they are quickly contrasted by a comparison drawn by Williams of the young lady to a ... Taking this into consideration, we can now move on to what we know about Williams young housewife. Truthfully, very little is mentioned about her except, of course, her relative age and her marital status (for some reason these two things just seem to jump out of the text). It is very clear, however, that Williams does not limit the young housewife to these two aspects of her life, but also emphasizes other aspects in particular her natural beauty and sexuality, and her separation and isolation from the outside world. It is evident that The Young Housewife is a very sexually charged poem. Through its subject matter, its language, its imagery, and even its use of phrasing, Williams accentuates the young housewife s seductive and almost unrestrained nature. For instance, He describes her moving about behind closed doors, dressed in negligee, or going to the curb un corseted to call ice man, or allowing her hair to hang freely, only periodically tucking it in. • 21. Possible Drought In California Can you imagine living in a nauseating, vile, and disgusting manner? Well Californians can. Currently, the state of California is in the midst of a severe drought. This drought is one of the worst droughts in the state s recorded history. Due to this drought, more than a thousand of California s residents have lost their water. The drought sparks a conflict for the residents. People can not bathe, use their toilets, wash their dishes, or do anything with water. Because of the overuse of groundwater, a law is being established in the California State Legislature that would maintain aquifer, the pumping of groundwater, for the first time in history. In other words, residents would not be able to pump water which is naturally available under their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If California regulates aquifer, farmers are going to be looking at buying less pickups, employing less people, and buying less tractors (Source 1). We are tied to the groundwater 100 percent, a farmer said, so ultimately it will have an effect on consumer prices. There s just no getting around that (Source 1). The crippling drought is expected to cost the state $2.2 billion in 2014 and put more than 17,000 farm workers out of a job, according to a July study partly funded by the state s department of food and agriculture (Source 2). If aquifer is regulated, the economy is going to crash, prices of food will go up, if prices of food go up, prices of everything will go up, farmers will go out of business, people who work for farmers will lose their jobs, people who sell farmers equipment won t sell enough hardware and make less money, and the government will lose billions of dollars. Also, ⅓ of the world is fed by farmers in California and if aquifer is regulated, ⅓ of the world will not have enough food and there might be a possibility of hunger. The drugs together with their improved agriculture made possible the population explosion of the last several centuries. They developed and refined a form of democracy that has been haphazardly and inadequately adopted in many parts of the world. They were the true colonizers of America who cut the trails through the jungles and deserts, made the roads, and built the cities upon which modern America is based. The company was founded in 1963 and is based in Albany, Oregon. There are 13 stores which are located in Washington and Oregon. The section of the store I am going to focus on is their new gun and ammunitions department. Putting in this new section involved taking out and relocating hardware. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to see how successful the merchandise is I would look at the previous year s sales in that subclass for comparison. This would report the overall comp over last year which should be a rather large percentage. Another report I would look at involves any sporting goods that had been in the store prior to the introduction of the new department. Looking at the individual sales of these items would show the increase or decrease in sales from last year. On average pre introduction of the sporting goods department I saw maybe 20 people in the store. Now I cannot even count how many people are shopping in the store, which shows an increase in customer traffic potentially increasing sales. The turnover on merchandise is hard to see with the type of merchandise on display, there are no outs on in the display cases. There are also no obvious set locations for the merchandise in the case. If the last gun of a specific model is sold a different one can be put in its place. One item in this department I can discuss is the .22 ammo, I know that they only receive a shipment of 200 boxes a day and according to the sales associate they sold out at 11:30 AM. The price per box is $25, so the sales for that SKU alone are $5,000. There are a few other types of ammo that are limited stock and sell out before ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Chapter two discusses the Trinity, and how even though there are three parts he is a personal God. Chapter three addressed God with time. God is not in the past or future, but he is in the present. Chapter four sets up the chapter with an image of two books stacked on each other. These books are a symbol of God as a father and as a son, and along with this he discusses God s love for us. Chapter five addresses how God breathes life into us, because before we were lifeless. Chapter six brings attention to what is discussed in chapter five, but it also talks about God in relation to the human race as a whole. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I found this section of reading repetitive. In this portion of the reading C.S Lewis is wrapping up the loose ends of his discussion on Christianity. Even though I struggled a bit to get through this reading I still pulled out some interesting points from the reading. One chapter of the book that I enjoyed is chapter eight. Chapter eight discusses if Christianity is hard or easy. I found this chapter to appeal to me most because it is something I am very passionate about. During all three of my group s meetings I have discussed how throughout the book C.S Lewis made it a point to recognize that Christianity is not a walk in the park. C. S Lewis says in chapter 8, The Christian way is different: harder, and easier. Christ says Give me All. I don t want so much of your time and so much of your money and so much of your work: I want you (pg. 196). I think this quote sums up Christianity because it is not about if your walk with the Lord is easy or hard because everyone s faith is different. At the end of the day the Lord wants all of you and it is as simple as that. Along with this C.S Lewis tied in a lot of imagery throughout the chapters of this book. He brings imagery with the books, the to soldiers, and by referencing the story of Beauty and the Beast.BY using this imagery C.S Lewis was able to captivate the reader s attention. As I have stated earlier before 80s Indian automobile market was seller s market which means manufacturing companies have the command on the market not the customers. Having customer s command on the market is essential otherwise the development stops. The same thing happened, ambassador remains the same car as it was when it was first introduced. Hindustan Motors didn t promote the car because as a single Indian car it was already famous. Distribution was not that much difficult because car owners were few. The price of the ambassador was relatively high because those who needed the car didn t have another option. Also the government rules on importing the components were harsh and company was paying high prices for them. It seems obvious what the company did during those years. But when the scenario changed during 90s the market became open to all the government rules became soft and lots of other car manufacturers jumped into the Indian automobile market. This was the time when the ambassador should have changed its strategies. Her brother Felix Mendelssohn also went on to become a famous composer. Fanny learned the piano from her mother and at the age of thirteen she could play many of the compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach by heart. Her and her brother Felix were considered music prodigies. Though her parents were very supportive of Felix having a career in music they didn t have the same attitude toward Fanny. She wrote them as a musical diary of the year she spent with her family in Rome. The music started out slow and deep then slowly bits of lighter, higher notes fell into place. It stayed slow for a while. The notes softly flowing around on another. Gently gathering speed. Then it picked up to a faster speed. After a short while it reached an almost astonishing speed. The melody dancing like butterflies whirling around each in a garden. The feeling of adventure seemed woven into the music itself. Some parts you could tell how the months were being portrayed. You almost expect to look out the window and see it being that time of year. A frosty wonderland. Chapter 3: The Instruments The piano is the only instrument used in these pieces of music. This perfectly captured the month of the year theme that Fanny Mendelssohn was trying to express. She was also able to express the thrill of adventure in a new place with the quick pace of the notes. Catholic leaders had control of the Holy Bible without many recorded challenges for more than one thousand years, according to several historical documents. Church authorities told church members they could neither read nor interpret the text themselves. The principles clergy taught in church were what churchgoers often believed. Eventually, a high ranking German monk named Martin Luther challenged church officials in the 16th century and began reading and interpreting the Scriptures. As he studied the Bible, he found many faults in the Catholic Church s teachings and believed everyone should have an opportunity to read the Bible himself or herself and determine what the Bible meant. During this Protestant Reformation period, many churches ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are some valid reasons for updating the words and sentence structure of the Bible s text, but there are also reasons to leave the passages as close to their original meaning and syntax as possible. Hillel Halkin, in his article Doing Justice to the Bible, writes that new translations were driven by two motivating forces. [First, there was a] desire to apply to Bible translation the new philosophical, archaeological, and historical knowledge that modern scholarship had made available. [Second, scholars wanted] to adopt a freer approach to a Hebrew and Greek text no longer considered the revealed truth but rather, in the spirit of the 20th century, a great cultural and spiritual document composed by different authors in different periods and best approached with the flexibility that any good literary translation should have (55). While these two proposals seem like a good idea for most manuscripts, the Bible is not just another book. Those of the Christian faith often acknowledge the Bible as a sacred book inspired directly by God. In Hebrews 4:12 of the New International Version of the Bible, the collection of books describes itself as living and active. Sharper than any double edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, dividing joints and marrow; it judges the attitudes and thoughts of the heart. • 31. Art Vs Visual Art Visual art as we know it today is completely different from what had been created before the 20th century. Realistic depictions of the surrounding reality has given up its place in favor of attempts to convey the artist s inner world directly through the diversity of shapes, colors, and means of visual depiction. Hence, a reasonable question arises: how should one evaluate pieces of modern art given that traditional criteria of assessment do not apply easily in this case? Unlike traditional art, where one can make judgments about the scene, an artist s skills, and composition, modern art should be evaluated in a slightly different manner. Even though there are numerous artistic laws and rules, any assessment made about a piece of art remains subjective; I believe one can easily explain why someone likes a particular piece of art, but will not be able to persuade those who disagree with them or have no artistic taste. Considering this, let us refer to Scream a famous painting by Edward Munch. Though it was painted more than 110 years ago, it still makes a perfect example of modern art. Personally, I usually evaluate paintings by their lucidity, strength of artistic means (such as composition, coloring, and so on), and the creator s ability to communicate with the audience through a canvas. Despite its expressionistic, distorted shapes and disturbing colors (which will be discussed later) Scream is still a realistic painting, performed in an expressionist manner. Its ...
