Athanasius Father
Introduction
Of all the early church fathers, only a few would stand up to the story, importance and work of
Athanasius. Not only did he take over as Bishop in one of the most prominent cities of ancient Rome,
he had a very tumultuous life and spent many years in exile for his defense of doctrine and he
steadfast approach to understanding the Trinity, specifically the relationship of Jesus Christ to the
father, and remains controversial to this day. This paper will take an overall look at the life of
Athanasius, his upbringing, the stage that was set for him in Alexandria, and the controversies and
work that surrounded his life, and most of all, showcasing, in their time, some of his most important
works that are still used almost 2000 years ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This writing makes no mention of Arius, but is heavily indoctrinated with the person of Christ, and the
need for Christ to be eternal, and the need for Christ to share fully in the reality of the father.
Athanasius argument is that no creature would have the power to save us as humans. This was both an
attack against Pagan philosophy and Arianism. Written somewhere in the time of 328 335, Athanasius
had enemies on all fronts. The Melitians and the growing Arians, who now had powerful members
outside of Eqypt, both wanted Athanasius removed for different reasons, and set the stage for his first
exile from the

Low Income And Lower Class Families Struggle With...
Education today is a very important need for a successful, prosperous, and respectable life. Almost
every job a person seeks to find in the work force requires a degree of some form. More and more
every day, people are needing a good education to make enough of a living to survive. Low income
and lower class families struggle with providing their children with necessary educational needs. They
do not have the funds to provide educational needs to help them excel in their adulthood. Most of the
lower class society is brought up in rundown neighborhoods, which means they do not have the means
to attend an upper class school. In a lower class education setting, more often than not, you find that
the teachers are failing because the system is failing. The higher class institutions teach a more in
depth curriculum, while the lower class institutions teach a more practical curriculum. The families in
these lower class societies make barely enough to live, causing them to put their children s education
at the low end of priorities. It can be hard for a lower class person to get an education because of all of
the hardships that come along with it, but some prevail through all of that hardship and come out on
top. The educational system can easily be defined by our social rankings; such a ranking can cause
many to receive incomplete learnings, and allow them to fall through the cracks of society. Many
teachers in the lower class spectrum of society aren t giving the necessary

The Importance Of Respect For The Dead
Respect for the Dead Introduction The aim of the current essay was to discuss the cultural, ethical, and
legal aspects concerning the respect for the dead. Besides, the cultural, ethical, and legal factors were
correlated with the practice of anatomy, everyday observations, and personal experiences. Notably,
what was regarded as appropriate respect for the dead varied based on an individual s cultural beliefs
and ethical (religion or professional) considerations. Background The concerns associated with the
respect for the dead emanate from the fact that the dead symbolise the shared destiny of humans and
reminiscence of the dearly departed. Therefore, the dead are by design objects of fascination
regardless of one s point of view. For instance, dead bodies elicit attention in both medical pathology
and traditions that venerate the dead and those that forbid such forms of glorification. Therefore, the
interests of the dead are not unique to the human anatomist only. Interest for the dead encompasses
religion, sociology, art history, feminist theory, and law. Notably, the emerging multifaceted interest in
the dead had raised fundamental questions regarding the limits of what was legal, ethical, and moral in
the use of palatinates, cadaver, and dissected human (Jones 2016, p. 46). The fundamental concerns
had been initially raised by humanity scholars, not pathologists. Such concerns were informed by key
issues such as how were the dead bodies obtained

Essay On Mandatory Evacuations
What happens If Your Do Not Evacuate: It Is Not Just About You Sometimes The question some if not
many people have is Can I be charged and/or arrested for failing to heed a mandatory evacuation
order. The answer is yes, but not likely. In North Carolina for example, the governor can Direct and
compel the evacuation of all, or part of the population from any stricken or threatened area within the
state during a state of emergency . Anyone who violates an evacuation order can be charged with a
class 2 misdemeanor, which can be punishable by up to 30 days of confinement, probation, or
community service (Blitzer, 2016). Texas, for example, specifically provides that a county judge or
mayor of a municipality who orders a mandatory evacuation may compel persons who remain in the
evacuated area to leave and authorize the use of reasonable force to remove persons from the area
(Tex. Government Code § 418.185). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The order is used when the disaster has the potential to cause severe loss of life, and property damage.
The authorities, of course, would prefer people voluntarily leave, and in some cases, a person may be
asked to fill out a form if they refuse to evacuate. The form may ask for a person s next of kin, social
security number, and other identifying information so your remains can be identified. This is
essentially a scare tactic to encourage people to leave. In most cases, you would be told that
emergency services would not be available to include police, fire, hospitals, and
paramedics/ambulance

How Tragic Patters Grow Individual Characters In Othello
Charlie Pena

English 1B
14 November 2014
Othello: To Death Do Us In the play Othello by William Shakespeare we see tragic patters grow in
individual characters such as the main protagonist Othello. Othello is a character of high stature who
is destroyed by his surroundings, his own actions, and his fate. His destruction is essentially
precipitated by his own actions, as well as by the actions of the characters surrounding him. Othello is
an interesting character whose ability to utilize logic is greatly missing when he is led to believe that
his wife has cheated on him. The reasoning behind the false belief is that
Lago plotted the scenario of the handkerchief that was a gift to his Desdemona. The handkerchief was
important to Othello because the handkerchief was a gift that was full of sentiment and meaning to
Desdemona. Lago s wife. Amelia believed that the handkerchief might help her out with her
relationship with Lago, her husband. Lago was not physically intimate with Amelia. Lago liked
Desdemona and wanted her to himself. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Othello s best friend Lago was passed over for promotion. Othello did not thoroughly think through
his decision to pass over Lago and so Lago schemes to bring Othello down. Othello was betrayed by
Lago and Othello stops thinking clearly by stepping back and assessing the situation that he finds
himself in. Lago wants to destroy Othello but Othello is unaware of this. Unfortunately for Othello
and his lack of insight into what has been transpiring sets him on a downward spiral in which he
believes that his wife Desdemona has been cheating on him. The reason for Othello s belief that his
wife is cheating is based solely on the handkerchief which is in Cassio s room which sets up Cassio to
be the fall guy. With all of this going on, Othello is clearly running on emotions instead of

The Voter Turnout In Texas
The voter turnout in Texas has been low for a very long time. For the past 50 years the numbers of
citizens that participate in the national, state, and local elections have decreased. Voters turn out is the
percentage of voters that are able to vote legally, that actually cast a vote in the elections. There are a
number of things that can increase the percentage but I m sure these examples will never happen. I
believe that the voter turnout is low because people aren t into politics because many believe they are
all corrupt. People rather not vote because they believe their vote won t make a difference but in
reality I will make an impact. There are other reasons people choose not to vote such as not being

Creationism versus Evolutionism
Evolution by natural selection is a result of evolution that leaves organisms well adapted to their
current population but does not make a perfect organism (Smock 2014). Male guppies have shown
over the past 200 years to have more or less colorful patterns decorating their bodies. Studies have
shown that male guppies have more colorful body patterns in areas where there are no predators and
more conservative colorations when in hostile waters (Futuyuma 2009). A 1980 study proved that
once guppies were moved to safer waters, in the next later generations, more colorful male guppies
began to appear (Futuyuma 2009). The guppy applies to the first rule of natural selection that there is
variation in a trait in an organism in a population ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The other reason that Intelligent Design is not able to stand as a scientific theory is that it is inherently
religious and therefore not actually scientific. That is proven in Judgment Day when it is discovered
that prior to the court ruling that outlawed Creationism being taught in school, the textbook that was
going to be used to teach Intelligent Design was using the word Creationism instead until it was
changed in the next editing phase (Judgment Day 2014).
What one must do to reconcile science and religion is to let go of the idea that one discipline rules out
the other (Miller 2001). Professor Ken Brown theorizes that maybe a higher power created a world
that was complex and alive at it s base and then allow it to be self sustaining, developing on it s own
(Miller 2001) which is a theory that I can agree with. What needs to be understood is that science will
never be able to explain why there is or is not a higher power and religion will never be able to explain
widely accepted theories like evolution (Miller 2001). They both function on their own realities, one
where science answers the natural world around us and one where religion gives meaning to our lives
(Miller 2001). The rift is made because there are people that deny the idea that something other than a
higher power was behind the beginning of

At the same time, for the purpose of using the democratic process as a strategy to implement Shari a
law, the Muslim Brotherhood named its political arm as the Islamic Action Front. Both the Jordanian
Muslim Brotherhood and the Islamic Action Front share a similar base of support and membership.
Separation between the two was necessary to allow the Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood to maintain its
control over social services and spreading dawa a, while on the other hand provide the Islamic Action
Front with the platform to establish a political agenda. Upon submitting the application to the Minister
of the Interior, that included the Memorandums of Association, and a list of the founding member
names that fulfill the conditions specified by article Five of the Political Parties Law, in December
1992, the Islamic Action Front was officially licensed as a political party. In total, the founding
members of the Islamic Action Front consisted of three hundred forty two older, established males and
only eleven women. Demographics show a trend of disproportionality between the founding
membership and the overall population of Jordan. At the time the Islamic Action Front movement was
established, half the population of Jordan was under the age of sixteen. But, out of the three hundred
fifty three founders, 33 percent were professionals, 51 percent were civil servants, and 10 percent
were businessmen. Of these same founders, 56 percent were over 41 years old. Due to lack of

Essay On Boarding Schools For Native Americans
Gabriella Rodriguez Lan History 21 History 21 Take Home Midterm 1. Boarding schools for native
americans began in 1860 on the Yakima reservation in the state of Washington. Herbert Welsh and
Henry Pancoast created the boarding school, the goal of the boarding schools were to assimilate
Indian tribes into mainstream of the american way of life . They thought using education would be
their best tool to succeed this goal. They wanted the indian people to learn the importance of private
property, material wealth and monogamous families. Reformers thought it was necessary to civilize
indian people. They felt boarding schools were the ideal way to assimilate indian youth. The first
lesson from boarding schools would be; reading, writing, speaking and learning english. They also
wanted indian youth to be individualized. The end result would be to eliminate indian culture. Richard
Henry Pratt, owned and operated one of the most well known boarding schools, Carlisle Indian
School. His motto was Kill the Indian, save the man . He hoped indian children would not return home
to their reservations, but instead become a part of the white community. Pratt and other off reservation
boarding schools took away any outward signs of tribal life the children brought with them. Long
braids were cut from the children, they were forced to wear uniforms. They were given white names
and surnames. Traditional native food was forbidden and they had to eat foods of the white society

A similar and also popular game is softball. It was an Olympic sport from 1996 to 2008. Like baseball,
it will be played in the 2020 Olympics after nnot being in the calendar in the last two Games.
Softball uses a larger ball and is played on a smaller field. It was invented in Chicago, Illinois, United

In the beginning, softball had a variety of rules. To resolve the differences, a rules committee was

Comparing Daisy Buchanan And Myrtle Wilson

Myrtle Wilson. At first glance, the reader may think there are no similarities between Daisy and
Myrtle; however, these two characters have more in common than one might think. Although they
seem diverse in many ways, they maintain, in fact, very similar personalities. The novel shows the
hardships and complications they both have in marriages, and the resulting outcomes. Both women are
extremely beautiful and use their beauty knowingly to get what they want in terms of happiness. They

If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant
has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your
neutrality Bishop Desmond Tutus. Sometimes being neutral in a situation is good. When two of your
best friends are fighting with each other, do you pick a side? Would you choose one friend over the
other? If so, how would that affect you and the friend you didn t choose relationship? The reason why
it is not important for people to take a stand on issues of justice in society is because a nation tends to

So by doing so, it allows leaders and governments to better understand how the people feel about
certain laws or rules. In Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi s speech On Civil Disobedience he says, No
clapping is possible without two hands to do it, and no quarrel without two persons to make it.
Similarly, no State is possible without two entities, the rulers and the ruled. Your are our sovereign, or
Government, only so long as we consider ourselves your subjects. When we are not subjects, you are
not the sovereign either. So long as it is your endeavour to control us with justice and love, we will let
you tod so. But if you wish to strike at us from behind, we cannot permit it. In other words, in order to
have order, there needs to be a strong connection between the subjects and sovereigns . By not doing
so, it could lead to civil disobedience, violence, or even death. Nevertheless, in Chief Joseph s speech
On Surrender At Bear Paw Mountain, 1877 he says, Tell General Howard that I know his heart. What

Applications Of Knx Logging Section
In keeping with the above requirements and considering the findings of the Current
Applications of KNX Logging section (p. 10), having a separate logging service and user interface
seems the most logical solution. Separating the GUI and the logger would allow for the KNX bus to
be logged with a background process, rather than require an application to be running in the
foreground when logging.
Figure 2.3 1 illustrates the overall solution proposed in this section. The diagram shows the KNX
network, the KNX to serial module, the host server, the logging service, the database, the user
interface and finally the user; it illustrates how these components of the logger system will interact
with each other.
In this proposal, a basic KNX network has been developed with various actuators and sensors. The
sensors are more important in the example network as these are the modules from which the telegrams
to be recorded originate. The KNX bus has a KNX to PC module which connects the KNX network to
a computer, these sorts of module will be discussed in greater depth later but generally are used to
connect a KNX network to another device via USB in order to configure or otherwise manipulate the
KNX network.
The KNX to PC module connects the KNX network to a server. The server hosts the logging service
which is used to record all information on the KNX bus in a data store. In Figure 2.3 1 the data store is
shown to be hosted on the server as well, however this is something which may

2. Chapter 3: Briefly summarize the major eras of Mexico U.S. migration. Why does Massey argue
that these trends contradict the neoclassical economic view of migratory decision making? Do you
agree?
The major eras of Mexico to U.S. migration include the Era of Enganche, the
Era of Deportation, the Bracero Era, the Era of Undocumented Migration, and the
Great Divide. The Era of Enganche spanned from 1900 to 1929. The opening of the Mexican Central

fertile valleys and natural resources now connected with railroads (27). During this time, immigration

I agree with Massey because unlike the neoclassical economic view, migration relies on interrelated
people. Fewer migrants are acting individually, and more work together to expand capital gain.
3. Chapter 4: Briefly summarize the seven major steps of the migration cycle and their parameters ?
Why does Massey argue that together these processes constituted a stable, mutually beneficial
migration system for the
U.S. and Mexico? Do you agree? Why or why not?
The first major step in the migration cycle is leaving. Leaving is described as the initial trip to the
United States. The probability of Mexicans entering the United
States between 1965 and 1985 grew at a steady rate, solely for undocumented males. The probability
collapsed in 1983, due to the Mexican oil boom, but later grew again because of an economic
collapse. The next step is crossing.
Undocumented migrants usually paid coyotes to be smuggled across the border. The use of coyotes
increased with the rise of Border Patrol linewatch hours. The third step is arriving. Because Texas
shares the largest border with Mexico, Texas became the prime point of entry. However, the bracero
program shifted migrants

Changing Face Of The Australian Family
Over the last five decades there have been many studies, reports, papers written and statistics collected
regarding the changing face of the Australian Family. Much of this information focuses on living
arrangements, relationships such as marriage and de facto, one parent households, working mothers
and fertility rates to name a few. There are several factors that have caused variance to the structure
and values of the Australian family including the increase of divorce, remarriage, same sex
relationships, one parent families and blended families. This paper will look at the extent of change
that the Australian family has undergone in the last 50 years, focusing on two key issues, firstly the
impact of women entering the workforce and secondly the decrease of fertility rates.
A definition of family is required to understand the parameters by which majority of studies have been
evaluated. For the purpose of data collection, The Australian Bureau of Statistics defines family as the
following:
Two or more persons, one of whom is at least 15 years of age, who are related by blood, marriage
(registered or de facto), adoption or fostering, and who are usually resident in the same household.
Separate families are identified for each married or de facto couple and for each one parent family in
the household (ABS, 1992b).

states reported cases of varicella to the CDC, it was eliminated from the list of nationally notifiable
conditions in 1981. Children under 10 years of age make up between 75 90 % of chickenpox cases. In
1995, due to the availability of the vaccine in the U.S., hospitalizations due to chickenpox has

Rapid Acting Essay
Rapid Acting (Prandial or Bolus) Insulin Analogs
Rapid acting analogs have different amino acid structure than that of human insulin. This causes
decrease in hexameric insulin formation after injection into the subcutaneous space. Furthermore there
is rapid dissolution of insulin into monomers, rapid insulin absorption into the bloodstream and a
shorter duration of action. In vivo studies have found that, rapid acting insulin analogs have identical
potency compared to regular human insulin and higher peak concentrations are achieved . Compared
to regular insulin, the rapid acting insulin analogs lead to less postprandial hyperglycemia and less late

With injection in the abdomen, the peak concentration of insulin lispro is slightly higher and the
duration of action slightly shorter compared to that of administered in the arm or thigh. However,
insulin lispro is consistently absorbed faster than regular human insulin, irrespective of the site of
administration.
Pharmacokinetic studies have revealed that the peak plasma concentration of insulin lispro in the first
hour after injection is twofold higher and that the time to maximum concentration of insulin lispro is
less than half compared to that of human regular insulin. Compared with human regular insulin at the
same time, insulin lispro leads to a lower postprandial glycaemic peak, shorter time to peak and lower
total glucose excursion for the 0 4 h period. These characteristics enable insulin lispro to be injected
within 15 min of starting a meal. ,
The faster absorption and faster onset of the glucose lowering effect of rapid acting insulin analogues
lead to lower postprandial levels of glucose than those triggered by mealtime administration of human
regular insulin.

Biography Report On Isaac Newton
PHYSICS REPORT Melissa Kouamo Physics 2425 Dr. Lee Estep Fall 2016 BIOGRAPHY REPORT
ISAAC NEWTON Among all the scientists I have had a chance to learn about, one of the famous is
known as Isaac Newton, born in 1642 and deceased in 1742. Generally recognized as a physicist, he is
proudly known for his work in a lot of domain such as mathematics, optics and motion which are all
parts of physics. Born prematurely on Christmas day, he was fatherless and barely three years old
when his mom left him as his maternal grandmother s to get remarried and build a second family:
challenging childhood but full of promises. Ten years later his mother Hanna, came back in
Woolsthorpe, his natal town after the dead of her second husband. Despite her long absence, Newton
was still denied of his mom s attention, thus a great contribution to his complex character. Newton s
childhood was anything but happy, and throughout his life he verged on emotional collapse,
occasionally falling into violent and vindictive attacks against friend and foe alike. After his mother
returned to the town, he was forced to quit school and become a farmer, duty that he fortunately failed
to fulfill. This failure led him back to King s school at Grantham where he prepared his entrance to
Trinity College at Cambridge. The bigger challenge was to overcome the farmer live in profit of a
fructuous student life. His life therefore changed when he left Woolsthorpe for Cambridge University.

Tea Drinking In The 1800s
Tea was declared the National Drink of England in 1784. The eighteenth century saw the
transformation of tea as an everyday necessity for the poor and working class of the British society. To
meet the domestic demand at home, the British East India Company imported great volumes of tea
from China. The tea import increased from an estimated 64 tons in 1711 to 6800 tons in 1791. Even
heavy import tax could not deter an increasingly expanding domestic market for the Chinese tea. As
tea drinking had become obsession with the British society, consumption of tea replaced home brewed
beer, gin, milk and traditional infusions of indigenous plants. This great transformation in the
consumption pattern of British society led to the commodification of

Deafness In Adult Education
You many know a few famous individuals of the deaf and hard of hearing community such as Helen
Keller, who lost her sight and hearing at 19 months who grew up to be a famous author and advocate,
the famous German composer Ludwig van Beethoven, and even our very own former Seahawks
fullback, Derrick Coleman. Have you ever thought how an individual that is deaf and hard of hearing
is impacted in the school environment? We will take a look at the terms of deaf and hard of hearing,
how it is acquired, the effects on learning with this disability, educational services that fall under
IDEA and WA state guidelines. We will discover how teachers can create accommodations and
modifications for success for these students and ending it with resources that can help educators,
families and children that are affected with deafness. To understand this group of people we need to
understand the terms of deaf and hard of hearing. The definition of deafness under IDEA (Individuals

On Self Respect By Joan Didion
Writer Joan Didion in her essay On Self Respect describes the value of self respect in regards to her
own perspective of what it means. Didion s purpose for this explanatory essay is to explain what self
respect means and its purposes to the intended audience, women. Women are the intended audience
because when this essay was written in the 1960 s, expectations of women were developing in a way
that was no longer related to their roles in society, but their actual character, specifically physical
characteristics and abilities. Didion chooses to write about self respect toward women because of a
personal anecdote mentioned in the text, in which she receives a sudden realization of what self
respect truly means and decides to share it with other struggling women in the 60 s. Didion uses the
rhetorical devices of personal anecdotes, allusions, and repetition in her essay often, which makes her
essay overall strong by punctuating many different meanings of self respect. These rhetorical devices
also give her audience an easier understanding of self respect by providing multiple perspectives and
situations of self respect, allowing the audience to make personal connections with the text. In the
beginning of Didion s essay, she provides a personal anecdote that tells about her own experience of
self respect. She begins by stating how innocence ends when one is stripped of the delusion that one
likes oneself , stripped away from a fake self respect for oneself (215). She then moves to the
anecdote, which is a past experience of her not being elected to Phi Beta Kappa , the oldest honor
society in the United States (215). She talks about how this specific failure could have been more
predictable or less ambiguous because she simply did not have the grades, but she was oblivious to the
outcome due to having a fake self respect by expecting herself to qualify for the society at high
expectations with abysmal grades. Didion uses this anecdote to provide a basis of her credibility and
understanding of the subject of self respect through a personal experience. This anecdote reveals a
meaning of what fake and true self respect is in her personal life, allowing the audience a chance to
relate to Didion s

The mind is a powerful tool that can either empower or enslave, depending on how wisely one uses it.
Edgar Allan Poe, an American author, is a Dark Romantic and Gothic writer. He is also a famed poet,
and critic, who struggled with alcoholism, poor health, and the loss of his loved ones. He lived a life
of poverty, and did not live long enough to see his work become successful. He is famously known as
the father of the detective stories. Poe s intellect is reflected in three of his short stories such as; The

medium choice is quite new and their collage is quite extraordinary, its basically a sculpture of small
things that most people have likely seen, put together to make it look like a skull in a size of about 5
foot by 4 foot. The artist probably chose to make it a skull because Calavera is a sugar skull that is
eaten on days leading up to The Day of the Dead in most Latin American countries. The title of the
artwork is obviously shown in the sculpture, it shows a skull and has a picture of a skull. The
references to these sculptures has a lot of different historical paintings such as, The Last Supper , Lady

famous movies such as King Kong, Star Wars, and The Terminator. The first thing you notice about

The Health Of The Current U.s. Economy
Situation:
The health of the current U.S. economy appears to be growing gradually. The second quarter real GDP
growth was 3.7% and the unemployment rate declined to 5.3%. The U.S Federal Reserve (Fed) is
expected to raise interest rates in the near future when it sees clear signs of strong economic growth
and improvements in the job market.
The last time the Fed raised interest rates (to 5.25%) was in 2006. This move was soon reversed as the
8 trillion dollar housing market bust sparked the global financial crises. About 8.7 million jobs (about
6%) were lost, unemployment rose to about 10% nationally leaving many households with less to
spend and higher debt.
Given its mandate to maximize employment and maintain price stability, the Fed took monetary policy
actions in December 2008 to keep long term interest rates at near zero (between 0.0% and 0.25%) to
help stabilize and revive the U.S economy leaving no option for further interest rate reduction.
The U.S has a hybrid economy and is considered a large market economy, where there is no central
authority directing people what to produce or where to ship it. So, what are the implications and likely
economic consequences of an interest rate hike using the IS LM model in a closed economy and a
basic market for loanable funds?
Closed economy IS LM analysis: The IS LM model focuses on the equilibrium of the goods market
and the money market. In other words, it shows the relationship between real output and interest rates.

an immediate sensation. Young adults from the neighbouring San Francisco have flown to the stores to

composed of 200 stores, in over 20 states, and valued at an estimated $100 million dollars. By the late
1970s, GAP was growing at a rate of almost 80 new stores each year and generating about $300

Effects Of Artificial Gravity
Artificial gravity is an application of force, resulting from acceleration, that creates a sense of gravity.
It is often used in space to counteract the effects of weightlessness in astronauts. Artificial gravity can
be created in many ways; for example, centripetal force, a force that makes a body follow a curved
path, can cause artificial gravity. If a spaceship was to rotate from its center, the force of rotation
would push the astronaut in the opposite direction, causing the astronaut to experience an outwards
force similar to gravity on Earth. The gravity can be calculated by using the radius between the center
of rotation to the astronaut. The larger the radius, the larger the force, or artificial gravity, the astronaut
would experience. Think of it as spinning on one of the spinning seats often found on playgrounds.
The farther you lean your body out of the seat (increasing your radius from the center), the larger force
you feel and the more likely you are to fly off. In addition, there are many reasons why astronauts
need the sense of artificial gravity. The main reason would be the person s health. Humans have
evolved to live on the earth, with a presence of gravity; once that presence is gone, the human body
can experience several different effects. For example, muscle and skeleton deterioration can occur.
When floating in space, an astronaut does not use their body s muscles like on earth; they don t put the
same stresses on their back muscles, or their knee

All of these principles still play a huge role in modern police. Police departments in America try to

Paradigms Of The Jewish Culture
Paradigms in Jewish Culture
Judaism is one of the oldest religions in the world. Jewish religious movements, sometimes referred to
as denominations, can be looked at in terms of paradigm shifts in the Jewish Culture. Jewish
denominations include different groups of Jews that have developed since the ancient times. In the
United States, these denominations took the form of three large groups known as Orthodox,
Conservative, and Reform. While each denomination keeps to certain core beliefs, there is diversity
within the faith as a whole.
Orthodox Judaism. Historically, there is no such thing as Orthodoxy (Kress, 2014). This term is used
primarily in North America. The specific term Orthodox Judaism has a recent origin and is used
specifically to differentiate the followers of more traditionally practicing Jews from the more Liberal
Jewish movements (Kress, 2014). The so called ultra Orthodox may be the most recognizable Jews
due to their distinctive garb (Wertheimer, 2014). Many of the people from this denomination live in
densely populated enclaves, speaking Yiddish among themselves, and consciously reject much of the
Western culture. They arrange their family lives, daily routines, finances, and politics in a manner
entirely different from other Jewish denominations (Wertheimer, 2014). The largest following of the

Daily Formative Assessment
I believe assessment is important and is the basis of planning for instruction, whether it is diagnostic
prior to learning, formative during units or lessons, or summative to evaluate student learning. Rowan
s quote in Every Teacher s Guide to Assessment, After all, in the end, the problem is less the idea of
testing itself, but how we design them, apply, them, and make use of their data. definitely has an
impact on my assessment practices. I feel it is necessary to make sure the student acquires all aspects
of the learning. Assessment should be used to bring a value for students. Within my instruction, I
implement daily formative assessments which may include turn and share, quick writes, graphic
organizers, online discussion responses, KahootIt, and other forms. Designing the appropriate
formative assessment to match the lesson is important to assess how the learning is taught and whether
the students are showing progress. In addition, I have worked on building blocks of formative
assessments in checklist style leading up to the point of reviewing for a summative test. Each of these

Society Exposed In Fahrenheit 451 By Ray Bradbury
One of Ray Bradbury s most popular works is a book titled Fahrenheit 451. The main characters are
Guy Montag (fireman), Clarisse McClellan (antagonist), Mildred Montag (Guy Montag s wife), and
Beatty (Chief). Fahrenheit 451 revolves around Guy Montag s life and shows how he develops.
Montag has been a fireman for ten years and never questioned the system. He meets Clarisse
McClellan, a girl whom questions the laws of society, and instantly starts thinking about his purpose
in the world. As said on the book itself, Internationally acclaimed with more than 5 million copies in

it was when it first published more than 50 years ago. (Bradbury, ... Show more content on

One of the main differences revolves around Mildred Montag. Throughout the story, Mildred s life
revolves around watching the television walls and swallowing antidepressants. When Mildred s
friends come over, they all watch television, and while they watch, they are bombarded with the news
that a war is going on and that their loved ones are being killed. The group of women fail to connect to
the news and show no emotion. This aspect of the story contrasts in many ways to present day society.
Many outbreaks have occurred in the past two years and nearly all of the outbreaks occurred because
of the loss of loved ones. A few years ago a shooting in Ferguson, Missouri ignited an outbreak that
was known all throughout America. The black community retaliated with a series of break ins and
burning down buildings. While the characters in Fahrenheit 451 are emotionless when it comes to the
death of their loved ones, in modern society many groups have retaliated to avenge the lives of their
loved ones whom were taken from them. A recurring theme in Fahrenheit 451 is the idea of
authoritarianism (the enforcement or advocacy of strict obedience to authority at the expense of
personal freedom). Authoritarianism has such a huge impact on Bradbury s society that people are
desperate to fit in and follow orders. Evidence in the book shows that Mildred Montag was so deeply
affected by authoritarianism that she turns Montag in to the authorities, for reading books, without any
discussion or concern. Another huge difference from the story and reality revolves around the usage of
book. Books are strictly prohibited in Bradbury s fictitious world. Books are not only illegal, but are
considered so dangerous that firemen are trained to burn any books that are found. Unlike modern day
America, firemen in Fahrenheit 451 are trained to burn books that are found, hence the

My Teaching Philosophy And Philosophy Of Teaching English
In my future career I aspire to teach English for Specific Purposes. These purposes can include
academic English, scientific English, or possibly medical English. I hope to inspire adults to expand
their profession or young adults to pursue a career related to the topic of English, so that they might
share and gain knowledge with others around the world. These students may come from various
backgrounds and L1s (depending on where I teach) and will likely be in an EFL context. Unless I
teach in Canada, and then that would be an ESL classroom.
My speaking philosophy is composed of five main principles. These beliefs have been established
through time spent in classes with reflection on theories, and through personal experiences in
interacting with ESL students.
1. My first belief is that students should use the language authentically.
Students enjoy genuine interactions with people, and that is why they are often motivated to learn a
language, to communicate. In order to communicate, they need to understand how people speak within
that language. Classroom English is not sufficient in the real world and will not help students.
Therefore, if I am teaching science English, then I will have the students go to science ... Show more

In order to combat that, the classroom should be comfortable and inviting to every student. It is vital
that students are given opportunities to speak with each other through various assignments and
activities. They should get to know each so that any embarrassment is minimized. Because speaking
can be very stressful, especially in situations with many colleagues listening (as a medical professional

Remote Minehunting System ( Rms ) Of Littoral Combat Ship
This paper examines Remote Minehunting System (RMS) of Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) in detail.
LCS is a fast platform designed for executing operations in near shore environments. But, it is capable
of conducting open ocean operation as well. It is designed to defeat asymmetric threats. Mines,
submarines and fast surface craft can be shown as unique examples of asymmetric threats. The LCS,
which is a fast, maneuverable surface ship, provides warfighting capabilities for tasks/missions
including mine warfare, anti submarine warfare (ASW) and anti surface warfare (ASUW). The RMS,
which will be deployed on LCS, is a component of the LCS Mine Countermeasures (MCM) mission
package (MP). The mission package is called the Remote Minehunting System. The system uses the
Remote Multimission Vehicle (RMMV). The RMMV vehicle is produced by Lockheed Martin. It
conducts autonomous and/or semi autonomous missions. It also carries AQS 20A minehunting sonar.
The sonar attached to RMMV is specifically designed for a variable depth forward looking and side
scanning under sea. Raytheon makes the AQS 20As. The RMS detects, classifies, and localizes non
buried bottom and moored mines. It also identifies shallow water bottom mines.
U.S. Navy plans to keep its ships out of the dangerous minefield with the RMS. Navy focuses on
decreasing core crew for mine warfare while conducting mine hunting operations as well. Navy
envisions that this concept with RMS on LCS will prove a significant force

Help Stop Snoring And Sleep Apnea With Our Help
If you or someone in your family snores loudly during naps or nighttime sleep, this is probably getting
old. Snoring this loudly keeps other family members awake. Worse, it can interfere with the sleep of
the person doing the snoring. And with how little time there is to get sleep thanks to our busy lives,
using that time effectively is very important.
But snoringthis isn t about teeth, so what can a dentist do? A lot, actually if they have the right training
and technology. Most dentists in the Rogue Valley area do not help patients with bad snoring or sleep
apnea. But Dr. Vareldzis and his dental team are trained to help health issues involving the whole
mouth. Since ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vareldzis practiced dentistry in the Portland area. Yet his love for learning kept him in school,
studying postdoctoral work in modern, advanced dentistry. This includes taking courses at the OBI
Foundation for Bioesthetic Dentistry and the Dawson Academy. Because of this, Dr. Vareldzis is able
to offer state of the art techniques such as laser dentistry, CEREC same day crowns, dental implants,
and Invisalign aligners.
Despite all of these accomplishments, Dr. Vareldzis is most known for his kindness and personal
attention. Unlike some dental offices, Dr. V takes the time to get to know you and learn about your
concerns, goals, and plans for continued dental health. His biggest reward? Seeing how happy his
patients are after the work is complete.
After working in Portland for 23 years, he fell in love with the Rogue Valley and decided to move
here. He opened Hillcrest Family Dentistry in East Medford back in 2012. Currently, he is a member
of the American Dental Association, the Oregon Dental Association, the Academy of General
Dentistry, the International College of Oral Implantology, and the American Academy of Implant
Dentistry.
Dr. Vareldzis is proud of his Greek American heritage and credits it with keeping him focused on
family and excellent, personal care. He is married to his wife, Debbie, who is also the office s business

Taxes In The United States
Taxes have been around throughout the world since the idea of civilization came to being and was
implemented. The earliest forms of taxations were implemented around 4500 years ago in
Mesopotamia where people used to pay taxes by use of the commonly accepted currency then which
was livestock. These kinds of taxes were paid throughout the year to finance the activities of the
governing sectors. Looking at the ancient world, there are taxes such as the estate taxes and the death
taxes. An example of a country that had death taxes was Egypt which upon the death of an individual
the people left behind who would get the property the deceased had were to pay a ten per cent tax on
the property they were to inherit. Over the years, the way we pay taxes ... Show more content on

Initially, there were no income taxes unlike today. The government survived on the tariffs as the only
source of revenue to conduct their functions with. During those times, the tariffs were enough to
effectively run the government. In the times of emergencies especially during wars when the
government require some extra funds to support its activities, new taxes would be introduced. Once
the wars were over and the extra revenue was not needed any more, the taxes introduced would be
banned and the revenue would resume it source from the tariffs. It is worth noting that the people
living during this time were not as large in numbers as we are today, therefore the provisions of
services to them did not require a lot of money on the side of the government. The tariffs aimed at not
only running the federal government but also to act as a protective barrier to the domestic industries in
the United States of America. There was the payment of income tax that would be collected by the
agents of the treasury before the imported goods could land the country. Before the 20th century, there
was great debate where the Democrats wanted a tariff that would not be very high and one that would
sustain the federal government. On the other hand the Republicans were in favour of higher tariffs that
would not only ensure the sustainability of the federal government but also to be an encouragement to
the industrial workers as well as the American industry (Seligman Edwin

During this time the Union had taken over the North Carolina sound and major ports along the South
Carolina coast to include the Port of Savannah, Georgia. In addition they had seized control of major
ports along the east coast of Florida and Fernandina and St Augustine along the west coast of Florida.
The control of all these major ports allowed for the effective blockading of the south from outside aid
and resupply along with providing a good staging area for attacks against the Confederates.
In the summer of 1862 the Union s Fifth Corp which was commanded by General McClellan came
under attack from General Robert E. Lee. This attack was not foreseen because General McClellan
and the Union felt that they were on the offensive against the Confederate army. The attack came on
June 26, 1862 at Beaver Dam Creek where McClellan s Fifth Corps was stationed near
Mechanicsville, Virginia. After close to a week of battling the Fifth Corps retreated to Harrison s
Landing located on the James River. General Lee retained the initiative he gained at Beaver Creek
Dam and continued to pursue General McClellan. By the third of July General McClellan along with
the Army of the Potomac was ordered by Washington to retreat from Harrison s Landing. The pressure
from these actions caused President Lincoln to pull back some of his forces from various areas and

Not only did he take over as Bishop in one of the most prominent cities of ancient Rome, he had a very tumultuous life and spent many years in exile for his defense of doctrine and he steadfast approach to understanding the Trinity, specifically the relationship of Jesus Christ to the father, and remains controversial to this day. This paper will take an overall look at the life of Athanasius, his upbringing, the stage that was set for him in Alexandria, and the controversies and work that surrounded his life, and most of all, showcasing, in their time, some of his most important works that are still used almost 2000 years ... Written somewhere in the time of 328 335, Athanasius had enemies on all fronts. • 3. Low Income And Lower Class Families Struggle With... Education today is a very important need for a successful, prosperous, and respectable life. Almost every job a person seeks to find in the work force requires a degree of some form. More and more every day, people are needing a good education to make enough of a living to survive. Low income and lower class families struggle with providing their children with necessary educational needs. They do not have the funds to provide educational needs to help them excel in their adulthood. Most of the lower class society is brought up in rundown neighborhoods, which means they do not have the means to attend an upper class school. In a lower class education setting, more often than not, you find that the teachers are failing because the system is failing. The higher class institutions teach a more in depth curriculum, while the lower class institutions teach a more practical curriculum. The families in these lower class societies make barely enough to live, causing them to put their children s education at the low end of priorities. It can be hard for a lower class person to get an education because of all of the hardships that come along with it, but some prevail through all of that hardship and come out on top. The educational system can easily be defined by our social rankings; such a ranking can cause many to receive incomplete learnings, and allow them to fall through the cracks of society. Many teachers in the lower class spectrum of society aren t giving the necessary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Importance Of Respect For The Dead Respect for the Dead Introduction The aim of the current essay was to discuss the cultural, ethical, and legal aspects concerning the respect for the dead. Besides, the cultural, ethical, and legal factors were correlated with the practice of anatomy, everyday observations, and personal experiences. Notably, what was regarded as appropriate respect for the dead varied based on an individual s cultural beliefs and ethical (religion or professional) considerations. Background The concerns associated with the respect for the dead emanate from the fact that the dead symbolise the shared destiny of humans and reminiscence of the dearly departed. Therefore, the dead are by design objects of fascination regardless of one s point of view. For instance, dead bodies elicit attention in both medical pathology and traditions that venerate the dead and those that forbid such forms of glorification. Therefore, the interests of the dead are not unique to the human anatomist only. Interest for the dead encompasses religion, sociology, art history, feminist theory, and law. Notably, the emerging multifaceted interest in the dead had raised fundamental questions regarding the limits of what was legal, ethical, and moral in the use of palatinates, cadaver, and dissected human (Jones 2016, p. 46). The fundamental concerns had been initially raised by humanity scholars, not pathologists. Such concerns were informed by key issues such as how were the dead bodies obtained ... Essay On Mandatory Evacuations What happens If Your Do Not Evacuate: It Is Not Just About You Sometimes The question some if not many people have is Can I be charged and/or arrested for failing to heed a mandatory evacuation order. The answer is yes, but not likely. In North Carolina for example, the governor can Direct and compel the evacuation of all, or part of the population from any stricken or threatened area within the state during a state of emergency . Anyone who violates an evacuation order can be charged with a class 2 misdemeanor, which can be punishable by up to 30 days of confinement, probation, or community service (Blitzer, 2016). Texas, for example, specifically provides that a county judge or mayor of a municipality who orders a mandatory evacuation may compel persons who remain in the evacuated area to leave and authorize the use of reasonable force to remove persons from the area (Tex. This is essentially a scare tactic to encourage people to leave. • 6. How Tragic Patters Grow Individual Characters In Othello Charlie Pena Professor Flick English 1B 14 November 2014 Othello: To Death Do Us In the play Othello by William Shakespeare we see tragic patters grow in individual characters such as the main protagonist Othello. Othello is a character of high stature who is destroyed by his surroundings, his own actions, and his fate. His destruction is essentially precipitated by his own actions, as well as by the actions of the characters surrounding him. Othello is an interesting character whose ability to utilize logic is greatly missing when he is led to believe that his wife has cheated on him. The reasoning behind the false belief is that Lago plotted the scenario of the handkerchief that was a gift to his Desdemona. The handkerchief was important to Othello because the handkerchief was a gift that was full of sentiment and meaning to Desdemona. Lago s wife. Amelia believed that the handkerchief might help her out with her relationship with Lago, her husband. Lago was not physically intimate with Amelia. Lago liked Desdemona and wanted her to himself. Unfortunately for Othello and his lack of insight into what has been transpiring sets him on a downward spiral in which he believes that his wife Desdemona has been cheating on him. For the past 50 years the numbers of citizens that participate in the national, state, and local elections have decreased. Voters turn out is the percentage of voters that are able to vote legally, that actually cast a vote in the elections. There are a number of things that can increase the percentage but I m sure these examples will never happen. I believe that the voter turnout is low because people aren t into politics because many believe they are all corrupt. • 8. Creationism versus Evolutionism Evolution by natural selection is a result of evolution that leaves organisms well adapted to their current population but does not make a perfect organism (Smock 2014). Male guppies have shown over the past 200 years to have more or less colorful patterns decorating their bodies. Studies have shown that male guppies have more colorful body patterns in areas where there are no predators and more conservative colorations when in hostile waters (Futuyuma 2009). A 1980 study proved that once guppies were moved to safer waters, in the next later generations, more colorful male guppies began to appear (Futuyuma 2009). The other reason that Intelligent Design is not able to stand as a scientific theory is that it is inherently religious and therefore not actually scientific. That is proven in Judgment Day when it is discovered that prior to the court ruling that outlawed Creationism being taught in school, the textbook that was going to be used to teach Intelligent Design was using the word Creationism instead until it was changed in the next editing phase (Judgment Day 2014). What one must do to reconcile science and religion is to let go of the idea that one discipline rules out the other (Miller 2001). Professor Ken Brown theorizes that maybe a higher power created a world that was complex and alive at it s base and then allow it to be self sustaining, developing on it s own (Miller 2001) which is a theory that I can agree with. What needs to be understood is that science will never be able to explain why there is or is not a higher power and religion will never be able to explain widely accepted theories like evolution (Miller 2001). They both function on their own realities, one where science answers the natural world around us and one where religion gives meaning to our lives (Miller 2001). Reformers thought it was necessary to civilize indian people. They felt boarding schools were the ideal way to assimilate indian youth. The first lesson from boarding schools would be; reading, writing, speaking and learning english. They also wanted indian youth to be individualized. The end result would be to eliminate indian culture. Richard Henry Pratt, owned and operated one of the most well known boarding schools, Carlisle Indian School. Separating the GUI and the logger would allow for the KNX bus to be logged with a background process, rather than require an application to be running in the foreground when logging. Figure 2.3 1 illustrates the overall solution proposed in this section. The diagram shows the KNX network, the KNX to serial module, the host server, the logging service, the database, the user interface and finally the user; it illustrates how these components of the logger system will interact with each other. In this proposal, a basic KNX network has been developed with various actuators and sensors. The sensors are more important in the example network as these are the modules from which the telegrams to be recorded originate. The KNX bus has a KNX to PC module which connects the KNX network to a computer, these sorts of module will be discussed in greater depth later but generally are used to connect a KNX network to another device via USB in order to configure or otherwise manipulate the KNX network. • 28. On Self Respect By Joan Didion Writer Joan Didion in her essay On Self Respect describes the value of self respect in regards to her own perspective of what it means. Didion s purpose for this explanatory essay is to explain what self respect means and its purposes to the intended audience, women. Women are the intended audience because when this essay was written in the 1960 s, expectations of women were developing in a way that was no longer related to their roles in society, but their actual character, specifically physical characteristics and abilities. Didion chooses to write about self respect toward women because of a personal anecdote mentioned in the text, in which she receives a sudden realization of what self respect truly means and decides to share it with other struggling women in the 60 s. Didion uses the rhetorical devices of personal anecdotes, allusions, and repetition in her essay often, which makes her essay overall strong by punctuating many different meanings of self respect. These rhetorical devices also give her audience an easier understanding of self respect by providing multiple perspectives and situations of self respect, allowing the audience to make personal connections with the text. In the beginning of Didion s essay, she provides a personal anecdote that tells about her own experience of self respect. She begins by stating how innocence ends when one is stripped of the delusion that one likes oneself , stripped away from a fake self respect for oneself (215). She then moves to the anecdote, which is a past experience of her not being elected to Phi Beta Kappa , the oldest honor society in the United States (215). She talks about how this specific failure could have been more predictable or less ambiguous because she simply did not have the grades, but she was oblivious to the outcome due to having a fake self respect by expecting herself to qualify for the society at high expectations with abysmal grades. Didion uses this anecdote to provide a basis of her credibility and understanding of the subject of self respect through a personal experience. This anecdote reveals a meaning of what fake and true self respect is in her personal life, allowing the audience a chance to relate to Didion s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The On Wood Type Of Artwork By Grupo Mondongo Calavera, Skull 4 , 2009, is a series of plasticine on wood type of artwork by Grupo Mondongo is one of the most eye catching pieces of art at the Museum of Fine Arts. Grupo Mondongo is a group of Argentinian Artists; Julian Laffitte, Agustina Picasso, and Manuel Mendanha. They have created many other similar types of art that is just as spectacular such as , but nothing caught my attention like Skull 4 . I chose this piece because it is not only beautiful from afar but also up close. Grupo Mondongo s medium choice is quite new and their collage is quite extraordinary, its basically a sculpture of small things that most people have likely seen, put together to make it look like a skull in a size of about 5 foot by 4 foot. The artist probably chose to make it a skull because Calavera is a sugar skull that is eaten on days leading up to The Day of the Dead in most Latin American countries. The title of the artwork is obviously shown in the sculpture, it shows a skull and has a picture of a skull. The references to these sculptures has a lot of different historical paintings such as, The Last Supper , Lady with an Ermine , The Great waves of Kanagawa and Michael Jackson and Bubbles. There are also famous movies such as King Kong, Star Wars, and The Terminator. The first thing you notice about sculpture is the texture of it, it feels smooth, like its made of a clay yet it has a lot of depth and value, the skull itself isn t proportional since it is tilted to ... • 31. The Health Of The Current U.s. Economy Situation: The health of the current U.S. economy appears to be growing gradually. The second quarter real GDP growth was 3.7% and the unemployment rate declined to 5.3%. The U.S Federal Reserve (Fed) is expected to raise interest rates in the near future when it sees clear signs of strong economic growth and improvements in the job market. The last time the Fed raised interest rates (to 5.25%) was in 2006. This move was soon reversed as the 8 trillion dollar housing market bust sparked the global financial crises. About 8.7 million jobs (about 6%) were lost, unemployment rose to about 10% nationally leaving many households with less to spend and higher debt. Given its mandate to maximize employment and maintain price stability, the Fed took monetary policy actions in December 2008 to keep long term interest rates at near zero (between 0.0% and 0.25%) to help stabilize and revive the U.S economy leaving no option for further interest rate reduction. The U.S has a hybrid economy and is considered a large market economy, where there is no central authority directing people what to produce or where to ship it. So, what are the implications and likely economic consequences of an interest rate hike using the IS LM model in a closed economy and a basic market for loanable funds? Closed economy IS LM analysis: The IS LM model focuses on the equilibrium of the goods market and the money market. In other words, it shows the relationship between real output and interest rates. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Effects Of Artificial Gravity Artificial gravity is an application of force, resulting from acceleration, that creates a sense of gravity. It is often used in space to counteract the effects of weightlessness in astronauts. Artificial gravity can be created in many ways; for example, centripetal force, a force that makes a body follow a curved path, can cause artificial gravity. If a spaceship was to rotate from its center, the force of rotation would push the astronaut in the opposite direction, causing the astronaut to experience an outwards force similar to gravity on Earth. The gravity can be calculated by using the radius between the center of rotation to the astronaut. The larger the radius, the larger the force, or artificial gravity, the astronaut would experience. Think of it as spinning on one of the spinning seats often found on playgrounds. The farther you lean your body out of the seat (increasing your radius from the center), the larger force you feel and the more likely you are to fly off. In addition, there are many reasons why astronauts need the sense of artificial gravity. The main reason would be the person s health. Humans have evolved to live on the earth, with a presence of gravity; once that presence is gone, the human body can experience several different effects. For example, muscle and skeleton deterioration can occur. When floating in space, an astronaut does not use their body s muscles like on earth; they don t put the same stresses on their back muscles, or their knee ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Sir Robert Peel tried hard to include all issues of the time in his principles, but he never could have predicted the modern day issues of gangs, cartels and all of the other violence that has come about since his time. Law enforcement has had to change a lot over the years to accommodate all of the problems they must deal with that Peel could not have predicted. Vollmer once stated, The policeman s job is the highest calling in the world. The men who do that job should be the finest men. They should be the best educated. They should be college graduates. That s what policemen should be. And what are they? Dumbbells. Jewish religious movements, sometimes referred to as denominations, can be looked at in terms of paradigm shifts in the Jewish Culture. Jewish denominations include different groups of Jews that have developed since the ancient times. In the United States, these denominations took the form of three large groups known as Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform. While each denomination keeps to certain core beliefs, there is diversity within the faith as a whole. Orthodox Judaism. Historically, there is no such thing as Orthodoxy (Kress, 2014). This term is used primarily in North America. The specific term Orthodox Judaism has a recent origin and is used specifically to differentiate the followers of more traditionally practicing Jews from the more Liberal Jewish movements (Kress, 2014). The so called ultra Orthodox may be the most recognizable Jews due to their distinctive garb (Wertheimer, 2014). Many of the people from this denomination live in densely populated enclaves, speaking Yiddish among themselves, and consciously reject much of the Western culture. They arrange their family lives, daily routines, finances, and politics in a manner entirely different from other Jewish denominations (Wertheimer, 2014). Within my instruction, I implement daily formative assessments which may include turn and share, quick writes, graphic organizers, online discussion responses, KahootIt, and other forms. Designing the appropriate formative assessment to match the lesson is important to assess how the learning is taught and whether the students are showing progress. In addition, I have worked on building blocks of formative assessments in checklist style leading up to the point of reviewing for a summative test. Fahrenheit 451 revolves around Guy Montag s life and shows how he develops. Montag has been a fireman for ten years and never questioned the system. He meets Clarisse McClellan, a girl whom questions the laws of society, and instantly starts thinking about his purpose in the world. Throughout the story, Mildred s life revolves around watching the television walls and swallowing antidepressants. When Mildred s friends come over, they all watch television, and while they watch, they are bombarded with the news that a war is going on and that their loved ones are being killed. The group of women fail to connect to the news and show no emotion. This aspect of the story contrasts in many ways to present day society. Many outbreaks have occurred in the past two years and nearly all of the outbreaks occurred because of the loss of loved ones. A few years ago a shooting in Ferguson, Missouri ignited an outbreak that was known all throughout America. The black community retaliated with a series of break ins and burning down buildings. While the characters in Fahrenheit 451 are emotionless when it comes to the death of their loved ones, in modern society many groups have retaliated to avenge the lives of their loved ones whom were taken from them. A recurring theme in Fahrenheit 451 is the idea of authoritarianism (the enforcement or advocacy of strict obedience to authority at the expense of personal freedom). Authoritarianism has such a huge impact on Bradbury s society that people are desperate to fit in and follow orders. Evidence in the book shows that Mildred Montag was so deeply affected by authoritarianism that she turns Montag in to the authorities, for reading books, without any discussion or concern. Another huge difference from the story and reality revolves around the usage of book. Books are strictly prohibited in Bradbury s fictitious world. Books are not only illegal, but are considered so dangerous that firemen are trained to burn any books that are found. These purposes can include academic English, scientific English, or possibly medical English. I hope to inspire adults to expand their profession or young adults to pursue a career related to the topic of English, so that they might share and gain knowledge with others around the world. These students may come from various backgrounds and L1s (depending on where I teach) and will likely be in an EFL context. Unless I teach in Canada, and then that would be an ESL classroom. My speaking philosophy is composed of five main principles. These beliefs have been established through time spent in classes with reflection on theories, and through personal experiences in interacting with ESL students. 1. My first belief is that students should use the language authentically. Students enjoy genuine interactions with people, and that is why they are often motivated to learn a language, to communicate.
