The Pros And Cons Of Indian Removal
The Indian Removal has long been a debated issue. The two sides had radically different viewpoints
on the ordeal that helped shape America. The Indians, naturally, were against their removal from their
homelands, and they had two major protest against their removal. The first reason was the fact that
they were there first by thousands of years only for white men to invade and tell them to live
somewhere else because the white men were superior to the natives. The second reason was that the
U.S government kept breaking treaties and was forcing out tribes that had gone through the proper
channels for their land. The name Indians is not actually the correct term, but the indigenous
population should have been named Native Americans. The politically ... Show more content on

They were declared a dependent sovereign state and only the federal government had any say so in
their affairs. Treaties were signed and land was sacrificed in order to retain some semblance of
independence but the states got greedy and wanted it all. It was the Indians who followed the treaties
and never went after their lost land or left their borders but the Americans continued to encroach on
them. The Memorial Of the Cherokee Nation explained how Indians were tricked into selling land that
belonged to the Nation so that Indian territory became American territory despite the people having no
right to sell land given to the Cherokee Nation. The Cherokee government fought the breaks in the
treaties but the judicial decision was overruled and the Cherokees were still forced to move. Besides
the breaches in the treaties, the Cherokee tribe was one of the five assimilated tribes meaning they
adopted European customs and religions. The Cherokee had become civilized as was the European s
goal and they fought their battle through the legal system not in a war. In this sense, the Indian

Chronic Illness Research Papers
Chronic illness is becoming more and more common within our society. Unlike other diseases, a
chronic illness is often slow in progression and can take a long period of time to treat. When someone
is diagnosed, their lives are not only drastically changed, but their loved ones as well. Furthermore,
how you deal with your diagnosis of a chronic illness will completely shape the rest of your quality of
life. The women and families dealing with LAM, are inspirational. Though there is no known cure,
they still strive for life and the hopes of a possible solution. All the same, losing the function of your

Factors That Can Be Protective Against Ptsd
What is meant by the term resilience with regard to response to stressful events? One resilience factor
is hardiness , discuss how this factor can be protective against PTSD.
Stress is a widely studied phenomenon, as stress is an experience that every individual go through in
their everyday lives. According to Baum (1990), stress can be defined as a negative emotional
experience accompanied by predicable biochemical, physiological and behavioural changes that are
directed towards adaption either by manipulating the situation to alter the stressor or by
accommodating its effects. Everybody is affected by stressful events in different ways, some are better
at coping than others, this is because everyone is individually different. This is where resilience to
stressful events comes into place. Resilience helps to explain the ability to adapt in the face of tragedy,
hardship, trauma, adversity and a continuation of significant life stressors. Bonanno (2002).There are
many factors that influence people s resilience to these life events, for example personality traits,
optimism, lows of control, hardiness and social support. In this essay there will be a focus on
hardiness as it is a main factor for overcoming mental illness. Especially for PTSD which is heavily
influenced by stressful life experiences.
Stress has a big impact on people s mental and physical health, the way in which people cope with
stress can protect them from illness. Throughout life, people are faced

on September 11, 2001, but several events happened negatively affected the global economy during
the period of going public for JetBlue. For example, the contagion of bird flu was quite severe during
taking flights, which definitely influenced the demand of flights. The increasing oil price also raised
the basic cost in any transportation industry. Another negative condition could be the economic
downturn, including crash of the dot com bubble and financial crisis in Asia. From this point

Analytics Software Is Essential For Any Business
In this modern era, analytics software is essential for any business. It helps to understand different
ways to reach target audience and drive traffic to the website. Google analytics is one of the easiest
ways to achieve this. Especially helpful for the small business owner as it is free and easy to use,
hence no need to employ IT personnel. It provides both general statistics and minutiae in detailed,
comprehensive reports. Google analytics does not show how business is doing without some
additional setup. Setup the goals in Google analytics, so that it can to keep track of what s critical to
the business. Its comprehensive metrics, non exhaustive data, and easy to use interface make it an

It will also show a breakdown of which browsers are used and how frequently. This feature is useful
because sometimes web features are incompatible with certain browsers and operating systems. If a
significant chunk of visitors are using a system that doesn t suit the designed website, it might be time
to redesign the site framework as per the users.
EVENT TRACKING
Events are user interactions with content that can be tracked independently from a web page or a
screen load. Downloads, mobile ad clicks, gadgets, flash elements, AJAX embedded elements, and
video plays are all examples of actions that business owners might want to track as events.
This feature tracks how many visitors clicked on ads and which signup form they use to subscribe to
newsletter. It provides the insights of how well each of them performs like who checks social media
profile, who gets on RSS feed. Based on those percentages business owners can choose what kind of
ads to display on the sidebar, their positions, or what signup form performs best and gives more
subscribers.
CUSTOM ALERTS
Google alerts act as a kind of watchdog for anomalies in data. Google analytics alerts work to let us
know of deviations from regular data trends that occur. The main point of alerts is to notify when
something out of the norm happens. If traffic tanks and business owners are not watching analytics
reports daily, an alert can help quickly notify in the event of traffic loss. When setting threshold limits,

Designing AApplication Using And.net And The...
In the past applications were monolithic, and were built on a single stack such as .Net or Java and ran
on a single server. There is no way to get around building distributed software in today s market. Just
think about the software out there today. The market consist of many different variations of
architecture tier an application may have such as an UI tier, caching tier, application tier, and
persistence tier such as SQL or table logging.
Multiple components may spread across machines today. Software will have associated dependencies
and these component dependencies can be in conflict. One component might be dependent on a
certain DLL and another component for another one. Those two different versions might not run or

It will be wasteful to have the same execution environments even though they have different scale
characteristics. Developers also deal with test and production to move throughout the development life
cycle.
Since developers are increasingly building distributed operating systems, the way to deal with
complexity is using the concepts of containers. Containers are a native OS construct that provide light
weight isolation. In Linux there is a concept that is comprised of different sub concepts. There are
namespaces that provide isolations for user database, processes and IP addresses. Think of a container
as hosted on top of an Linux OS and it gets its own database, processes and IP addresses. It also gets
cgroups which governs resources. They make sure that not one container is using all the resources but
it shared all the way across. Each container gets a read write view such a Union File system. These
three make up the idea of a container.
Containers assist developers in making software portable. The software looks the same everywhere
you deploy and run it. Also developers will not need to install the app dependencies on user s host.
Once you have a distributed system that consist of different pasts, then the different parts can be
hosted in that container.
Docker containers not just an application but

They were flicking a pop can tab across the lobby. I went to the fellowship hall and got a pop from the

The Conflict Of The Democratic Republic Of Congo
Women s Position in Chaos: The Violence in Congo
Problem Statement The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has continuously experienced
increasingly brutal cases of violence against the female gender (Peterman, Palemo, Bredenkamp,
2011). As Peterman et al. (2011) continue to state, this gender based violence against women in the
Congo is mainly characterized by widespread sexual violence, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM),
gang rape, and the abduction of women for sexual slavery purposes among several others. As a matter
of importance, sexual violence against women is reported to be more prevalent within families, the
resulting consequence being the continuous destabilization of populations, aside from the destruction
of both community and family bonds (Johnson, Scott, Rughita, Kisielewski, Asher, Ong, Lwry, 2010).
Recent reports from world bodies such as the United Nations indicate that a majority of the cases of
sexual violence reported in the DRC are inexplicably linked to the ongoing armed and civil unrest in
the Congo. The eastern parts of Congo that border Rwanda, i.e. North and South Kivu regions are
reported as having been the most affected by the continued violence against women. This research
paper seeks to argue that the violence against women in the Congo reflects a systematic, colonial style
gender based discrimination and violence against the female gender as it relates to space and power.

The Doping Of Semiconductor By Rare Earth Metal Nanoparticle
The doping of semiconductor by rare earth metal nanoparticle is an effective way for increasing
photocatalytic activity. Zinc oxide and Lanthanum doped Zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized
by modifying the gel combustion method. It was found that La can greatly enhance the cytotoxicity
and photocatalytic activity of ZnO nanoparticles towards various cell lines and paracetamol drug.
These nanoparticles were characterized by various spectroscopic and other techniques which clearly
revealed the presence of lanthanum ions. The absorption edge shifts towards the visible region after
doping with La ions. This shift shows that the doping of La ions is favorable for absorbing the visible
light. The comparative photocatalytic and cytotoxicity activity revealed that La doped ZnO
nanoparticles remarkably enhanced activities as compared to the ZnO nanoparticles. The outcome of
these studies offers valuable for planning La doped ZnO nanoparticles having cytotoxicity and
photocatalytic activities helpful for the formulation of anticancer product and wastewater remediation.

Introduction to Economic System
What is system?
System (from Latin systema, in turn from Greek systēma) is a set of interacting or interdependent
entities, real or abstract, forming an integrated whole.
A group of interdependent items that interact regularly to perform a task.
Economic System
An economic system is a system that involves the production, distribution and consumption of goods
and services between the entities in a particular society. The economic system is composed of people
and institutions, including their relationships to productive resources, such as through the convention
of property. In a given economy, it is the systemic means by which problems of economics are

A central directorate controls the production of goods and services. The directorate decides the nature,
quantity, and mood of production of goods. This distribution of goods is also directed by the central
body.
Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating state or
collective ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and the
creation of an egalitarian society.
Modern socialism originated in the late nineteenth century working class political movement. Karl
Marx posited that socialism would be achieved via class struggle and a proletarian revolution which
represents the transitional stage between capitalism and communism.
Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a
small segment of society that controls capital and creates an unequal society. All socialists advocate
the creation of an egalitarian society, in which wealth and power are distributed more evenly, although
there is considerable disagreement among socialists over how, and to what extent this could be
achieved
Some features of socialism are written below 1. Socialism is not a discrete philosophy of fixed
doctrine and program 2. Its branches advocate a degree of social interventionism and economic
rationalization, sometimes opposing each other. 3. Another dividing

Dee Henderson is one of the best Christian fiction writers of her time. Her favorite genre to write is
suspense/romance and she does it very well. She has won or been nominated for many awards
including the RITAAward, the Christy Award, the ECPA Gold Medallion, the Holt Medallion, the
National Reader s Choice Award, and the Golden Quill. Dee Henderson has worked hard to make
herself a bestselling author and her journey to this point has not been easy. Dee Henderson knew from
an early age that she wanted to be a writer, but she was afraid to jump right into the profession
because she was afraid that she would not make enough money. She decided to go college to become
an engineer and graduated from the University of Illinois in 1988 with a bachelor s degree in computer
science (Toliver). This allowed her to work and have a steady income while she worked on creating
stories and making a work good enough to publish. In 1997 she published her first book, The Marriage

The Epistemology of Hegel s Introduction to the...
The Epistemology of Hegel s Introduction to the Phenomenology of Spirit In his Phenomenology of
Spirit, G.W.F. Hegel lays out a process by which one may come to know absolute truth. This process
shows a gradual evolution from a state of natural consciousness (56) (1) to one of complete self
consciousness which leads to an understanding of the nature of absolute knowledge itself (66). By
understanding the relation between consciousness and truth, one may come to know the true nature of
our existence. Hegel proposes to answer these questions in one bold stroke; he relates them in such a
way as to make an infinitely complex and indiscernible universe a unitary whole. This process from a
natural state to a kind of transcendence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is another implicit falsity in this way of thinking, however. The intellect as instrument implies
that the intellect is an entity distinct from ourselves (54). It also assumes that the absolute stands fixed
on one side while the intellect stands off by itself on the other (54), which leads to a major flaw in this
train of thought. By completely separating the intellect and the absolute, this method separates the
knowledge that the intellect may possess from the absolute as well, thus denying that which the
intellect knows of any truth.
To escape from this conundrum, one must assume that knowledge and consciousness are related in
some way. Another less palatable option might be the acceptance of different kinds of truths, but
Hegel will have none of that. He insists that the absolute alone is true, truth nothing if not absolute
(55). Unfortunately, traditional science also makes this instrumental assumption, restricting
consciousness from the absolute. But Hegel insists that science should not be discarded. One could
throw out science because it presumes this separation, but instead one should try to refit science to this
purpose (56). Thus, one must establish a new method of determining the truth.
To find the truth, one must have a

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Flow Assurance Management
CHAPTER THREE
FLOW ASSURANCE MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES
As stated earlier in the introductory part of this work, Flow assurance challenges are indeed a great
concern to the oil and gas industry. Starting from the formation, through processing and sales, flow
assurance management strategies has to be carefully designed in order to prevent having problems
with fluid flow.
Remediation of hydrates or wax in flowlines and pipelines poses greater challenge and loss of money
to the oil industry. This is because, blockage point location is a difficult job itself at first, and if
blockage is far away from an access point, such as riser, it may be difficult to reach it with chemicals
or other remediation tools especially at subsea location (Kaczmarski and Lorimer 2001).

3.2 PREVENTION WITH CHEMICAL INHIBITION TECHNIQUES
Thermodynamic inhibitors are chemical compounds added in high concentrations (10 60wt.%) to alter
the hydrate and wax formation and deposition conditions. This is still the widest method used
worldwide, but its associated costs, environmental concerns and operational complexity have made
researchers look for different approach to the problem (J.E Paez et al 2001). Injection of chemical is
used for pipelines with length ranging from 10 km to 200 km (Gudmundsson 2012 and Ilahi 2006).
Chemical hydrate inhibitors can be grouped into two main categories: The Thermodynamic Hydrate

Success Factors And Risks Of The Company
Success factors and risks Even though AB InBev is the largest beer producer in the world they are still

they are issuing out long term debt to help finance the project. The next three years will be interesting

How Water, Coke And Gatorade Effected The Renal System
Discussion: The purpose of the experiment was to help us better understand how water, Coke and
Gatorade effected the renal system. The goal was to test and see if my hypothesis were correct
regarding the urine specific gravity, urine flow rate, and presents of reagents using the Labstix. My
hypothesis for this experiment was that the Gatorade drinkers will have the highest urine flow rate and
that non drinkers would have the highest urine specific gravity. Water is hypo osmotic and coke
contains a high amount of sugar making it hyperosmotic relative to plasma. Gatorade consists of large
amounts of electrolytes making it iso osmatic relative to the plasma. Based on these characteristics of
the consumed substances, we are able to study the hormonal effects on the average UFR and USG.
Our subjects did start out in a similar dehydrated state. Subjects were asked to fast for five hours prior
to the lab and they were restricted to drink alcohol or eat fatty foods the night before. The purpose of
avoiding food and drink prior to the lab was so that the nutrients in the food and beverages consumed
are not absorbed into the blood stream because it could impact factors that are measured in certain
tests. Fasting improves the accuracy of those tests (). If each student did not monitor or follow the
correct procedure, we would have had multiple errors in our results. The results would not be as
accurate as they should be. The drinking groups varied in the amount that they were supposed

Crown Lengthening Research Paper
What is Crown Lengthening
Crown lengthening is a common oral surgery performed by a periodontist. The procedure involves the
removal of gum tissue, bone, or both to expose more of the patient s teeth. Reasons for Crown
Lengthening
Crown lengthening may be done to restore damaged teeth, insert a dental crown, or for cosmetic
reasons. Teeth that are severely damaged due to tooth decay, trauma or periodontal disease may need
to undergo crown lengthening if the tooth is broken under the gum or there is not enough tooth surface
to properly restore the tooth.
Dental crowns are used to cover, protect, and strengthen damaged teeth. If the crown does not fit
properly it can irritate the gums and cause chronic inflammation. Crown lengthening creates ... Show

Afterward an appointment will be scheduled. If your tooth requires a crown a temporary one will be
put in place before the surgery. This allows the periodontist to see how much tissue will need to be
removed before the permanent crown is put in place.
Crown lengthening is a common procedure and can be performed in our office under general
anesthesia or sedation. The length of the surgery depends on how many teeth are involved and if soft
tissue and/or bone has to be removed. The periodontist will make small cuts in the gums to expose the
roots of the tooth. Then the necessary amount of gum and/or bone will be removed. Once the
periodontist is satisfied, the area will be rinsed with a saltwater solution and the gums will be stitched
in place. If you had a temporary crown it will be put back in place once the surgery is done.
You should not eat anything until the anesthesia has worn off to prevent damage to your mouth, cheek

Robin Budowski
Current Situation: In 2016, Robin Budowski has almost acquired Château d Agel a previously
unprofitable wine property in the South West of France. However, his dream of owning and running a
vineyard does come with its own financial and operational risks. Robin may be the best candidate for
this acquisition opportunity, but to make it worthwhile in the next 5 to 7 year time horizon, he has to
decide which wine market he should focus his resources on, and how his wine can be effectively
distributed across France and exported to foreign developing markets.
The Wine Market: As of 2016, the global wine market shrunk by 7.6 percent, to generate $319,816

(See exhibit B). Craft beer, whiskey, and spirits are unfortunately stealing most customer segments,
and are experiencing strong growth. (Wine Enthusiast, 2016). All s not lost as millennials have shown
an increasing interest to taste various wine flavours from across the world. (The Fix, 2016). This gives
wine producers an opportunity to invest in product innovation to capture this younger market s
interest. Today, millennials consume more costly wine than their parents do. (The Fix, 2016).
Evidently, price does not yet have a strong influence on their wine selection. In support of this, a
survey conducted by Nielsen data indicated that 17 percent of this young demographic spends over
$20 per wine bottle in one month this percentage is larger than the boomers and generation Xers. (The
Fix, 2016). In addition, female drinkers are now responsible for 56 percent of the overall wine
consuming population due to their buying power. (Wine Enthusiast, 2016).
Moving on to global consumers, The CEO of Luxury Institute stated that, Consumers are purchasing
wine at higher volumes because they enjoy the restaurant and at home dining experiences that include
a great quality wine. (Luxury Daily, 2016). An implication of this quality preference is that restaurants
have seen a decrease in sales of wine priced at $8 a bottle or lower while higher priced wine is more
popular. (Cheers Online, 2016). Now, the average cost of wine in

Recycling At The United Kingdom
Recycling is a process that continues to develop and become more popular within waste management.
As there is a wide amount of literature relating to this topic the following review will focus in on
aspects such as recycling behaviours and recycling in the curriculum.
Recycling in the United Kingdom
Recycling is the method by which waste is collected and processed into raw materials, which in turn
are processed into new products (Prestin and Pearce, 2010). This helps the UK comply with the EC
Landfill Directive targets that state to reduce the quantity of municipal waste going to landfill sites
(Kurz et al, 2007). The primary goal of recycling schemes is to increase the amount of material that is
collected and recycled, meaning that less waste is going to disposal (Lane and Wagner, 2013).
Woodard et al (2004) stated that the percentage of households in the United Kingdom involved in
recycling needed to continue to increase to reach the national target of recycling household waste,
therefore local authorities got involved in incentives, which is discussed later in the review. (Woodard
et al, 2004). A main concern in modern society is the current state of the environment; it is a topic that
is frequently examined in research. It has been found that people want to act in a way to enhance
sustainability in the environment and recycling is a fairly simple behaviour which has a major impact
on this. Recycling is also economically feasible whilst having great impacts on the

Utilitarianism And The Theory Of Utilitarianism
Mill determines that there is not a great amount of support for the utilitarian principle, but that is
mostly due to it being vastly misunderstood by a large number of people that choose to discredit it,
instead of trying to learn its intricacies. The two main criticisms of utilitarianism are opposites of each
other in terms of belief. The first group to oppose the happiness theory draws their conclusions from
the typical sense of the word utility, where it typically stands for the opposition of pleasure. The other
group to oppose this theory holds the opposite view and thinks that utilitarianism bases everything on
pleasure. Neither of these are accurate representations of what utilitarianism is. The author defines
utilitarianism as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mill says, Human beings have higher faculties than the animal appetites, and once they become
conscious of them they don t regard anything as happiness that doesn t include their gratification. (10).
Humans not only have the base and carnal needs of animals that drive survival, but we also have
feelings, imaginations, intellects, and aspirations. Once we discover and acknowledge this significant
difference between us and animals it is impossible for us to be satisfied with the mediocrity of simple
pleasures of bodily sensations. Mental pleasures are seen as superior to those of the bodily nature
because they are more permanent, safer, less costly and so on, (11). Another important factor of
determining higher and lower pleasures is to look at not only quantity, but also quality. A pleasure can
be determined as having a higher quality if a rational person, prefer[ed] it even when they know that a
greater amount of discontent will come with it, and wouldn t give it up in exchange for any quantity of
[another pleasure] that they are capable of having, (11). A higher pleasure is preferred over lower
pleasures, even if it comes with negative side effects. This drastically shows the extreme value that is
put on higher pleasures and how much more valuable they are to the human condition than anything
that could come from a basal pleasure. For those that have gotten the chance to experience both kinds
of lifestyles the higher pleasures are obviously more

Biblical Interpretation
Interpretation presents many challenges that can be difficult to overcome. There seems to be more
challenges that arise when interpreting the Bible. Interpreters face many challenges and the validity of
their methods are sometimes questioned. Although there are challenges to effective biblical
interpretation such as distance of time and geographical location, difference in culture and language,
and human pre understanding and presupposition, these challenges can be overcomed. The challenge
of distance of both time and geographical location is a major issue when one is interpreting the Bible.
The larger of these two is time. The Bible was written centuries ago when everything was different;
even the land and cities looked different when compared to modern day. It is impossible to travel back
in time and see what is depicted in the Bible or to talked to the author to clarify confusion about
particular texts. Research from Archaeological digs and manuscripts will provide a glimpse into the
world of the Bible that seems to be lost, but it will still only be a glimpse ... Show more content on

There is not always an exact translation from language to language nor is the grammatical structure

and deep knowledge to crack. It makes it especially difficult that that languages over the years develop
and change and since the text of the Bible is ancient it makes the task of interpreting that much harder.
There are also words that will not translate over so the translator has to find a substitute for the word
that will lack the depth and meaning of the original. Despite the challenges that the difference in
language creates it is still possible to translate the Bible and worth the effort. Those who are not

Narrative Essay About My Black Jacket
I threw my books on the bed, but i didn t see the leather jacket I expected to see, i saw a guacamole
colored jacket laying on my bed, i approached the jacket slowly and as I sit down looking at the ugly
jacket, I heard my mom yelling up to me your jacket is in the closet. I pop off the bed like a piece of
popcorn and ran to the closet I slammed the door open I went through all my clothes but I saw
nothing, I looked on all the shelves, all the clothes hangers. Nothing. As I walked away disappointed,
in the corner of my eye I saw something on the floor I picked it up and looked at it and in front of me,
I was holding and brand new leather jacket with silver studs and enough belts to hold down a small
town. I laughed in excitement and ran downstairs to give my mom a hug. Thank you so much , I
whispered in her ear. I ran back upstairs to find my brother in my room holding MY new jacket What
are you doing? , I said. Looking at my new jacket , he answered, I laughed hysterically, I took the
jacket out of his hands and replaced it with the guacamole colored jacket Have fun I said laughing.
What do you mean , he asked You asked for that jacket , I answered him, I walked out of the room,
and put my jacket on and looked in the mirror, I looked flawless, I sat down and when I looked in the
mirror all I could see was popularity and fame. I even combed my hair and i looked like I was an

Totalitarian Governments In George Orwell s Down With Big...
Down With Big Brother
A totalitarian government depends on subservience because its citizens are completely controlled of
mind and body. History is constantly revised and edited to keep its citizens ignorant, and simple truths
are easily ignored by the populace if told to do so. Constant war is waged by totalitarian governments
to have a reason to use up its resources and keep its citizens in a suppressed state. The citizens of
totalitarian governments are under constant monitoring, even by their own family members. The
totalitarian state is dependent on all of these factors, and because of that, no freedoms can be given.

The flight was successful until it neared the end. Because of radio troubles, the people on the ground

The Impact Of Rap Music On Today s Society
The impact of rap music in today s society is extremely substantial. Many Americans listen to rap
music, even though different rap artist discuss various issues in their songs, it may influences their
fans to do the same. A large amount of rap music contains explicit lyrics that describe illegal activities,
aggression, and sexual content. Researchers from Iowa State University and the Texas Department of
Human Services found that aggressive music lyrics increase aggressive thought and feelings, might
perpetuate aggressive behavior and have long term effects (American Psychological Association).
Therefore, when Americans listen to rap music with that type of perspective it promotes misogyny,
illegal activities and sexual content. Rap music not only describes violence but it exploits females. For
example, the song entitled Gold Digger by Kanye West says She take my money when I m in need
,Yea she s a trifling friend indeed ,Oh she s a gold digger way over town, That digs on me not
including that the music video shows women dancing provocatively in lingerie as well as posing in
sexual positions (Pittsburgh Post Gazette). According to Dr. West, rap music identifies young black
women in five sexual different personas. Those five different personas are a diva, gold digger, freak,
gangster b**** and baby mama (Pittsburgh Post Gazette). The WebMD article states that after one
year of studying 522 African American females between the ages of 14 18 from lower socioeconomics

Candide By Voltaire And The Song `` Pursuit Of Happiness...
Throughout history people have been looking for something that made life special, spectacular, or one
of a kind. Today, this search is known to the world as the pursuit of happiness . The phrase use was
heightened during the enlightenment period and lingered for long after. This impact of its use did not
only impact the way life was looked at but also impacted the arts during that time and for the future.
Two pieces that show this evidence is the novel Candide by Voltaire and the song Pursuit of Happiness
by Kid Cudi. Both of these works, even though they were published more than two centuries apart,
carry the theme of the pursuit of happiness. These pieces are evidence of the unchanging pursuit that
mankind goes through.
The beginning of the pursuit is where both of the stories start off. Where the characters get a taste of
what they believe to be pure happiness . In Kid Cudi s song, the narrator finds what they believe to be
happiness in drugs and alcohol. Crush a bit, little bit, roll it up take a hit... I don t care hand on the
wheel, drivin drunk I m doin my thing. (AZ Lyrics) However, in Voltaire s Candide, the character
Cunegonde starts an infection of the search in the other character through the observation of Pangloss,
her teacher, giving her mother s chambermaid a lesson in natural experimental philosophy (3 Voltaire)
in the park. She was filled with the desire to be learned; dreaming that she might well be a sufficient

Causes Of The Boston Tea Party
On December 16, 1773, a group of overtaxed, oppressed, and overlooked colonists dumped 342 boxes
of tea from Britain into the cold, dark depths of the Boston Harbor. The British Parliament had been
gradually raising the colonists taxes, taxing anything that could possibly be taxed, continually pushing
the colonists to the edge of rebellion. The Tea Act was passed on May 10, 1773, granting the British
East India Trading Company a government sanctioned monopoly on tea, forcing the colonists to buy
tea from Britain alone. Although it didn t create any additional taxes, the colonists were so infuriated
at Parliament for recent similar impositions that the Tea Act of 1773 was the grain of rice that tipped
the scale for the colonists, causing them to ruin around £18,000 worth of tea. Despite destroying so
much property, the Mohawks took care not to harm an members of the crew (Schweikart and Allen,
75). The Boston Tea Party was the correct response to the Tea Act on top of others for three reasons; it
revealed the colonists oppression, it encouraged the colonists independence, and it set a great example
for revolutions in the future. However, there is still some debate as to whether the Boston Tea Party
was a reasonable response to the oppressive acts of the British Parliament. For example, it can be
argued that the colonists could ve compromising. However, as will be seen, these are both
unreasonable.
Firstly, the Boston Tea Party was a reasonable and understable response

There are so many books written by well known professors and writers that are filled with information

book was the history behind writing this book. The writer stated in introduction part that the primary
focus of the book was to teach statistics of few journalists who were interested in learning Economic
concepts in the year of 1975 A.D which gave me a general idea that the book was written for novices,
which means that the information provided will be clear, understandable and it will contain a lots of
examples to make it clear. Being a finance major, I had and will have situations where I have to use

Relationship Rules And Family Rules
Relationship Rules Theory
Interpersonal relationships are an essential part of everyone s life, like many other aspects of life.
Relationships are also bound by rules in order for these to succeed. However these rules vary
depending on the type of relationship a person has. Relationship rules theory is oriented to make
several aspects of relationships more clear. These rules help identify behaviors that can be either
destructive or successful in a relationship. Additionally, Relationship Rules help to single out more
specific reasons as why relationships end and what can be a solution to repair them. There are four
different types of relationship rules and those are friendship rules, romantic rules, family rules and
workplace rules. Each of these relationship rules has different functions and these rules cannot be
broken in order for a relationship to stay healthy.
Friendship Rules Friendship is a word that envelops powerful meanings that everyone should not take
for granted. Those meanings can be trust on others, love, support, care for others, compassion, and/or
loyalty. People give those meanings different levels depending on the type of friends they have and
how worth it those friends are. It is true that friends can be considered part of our own family and they
have to be loved and respected as such. Good friends are people that can be trustworthy and
understand the meaning of the word friendship.

How Does State Lottery Affect Society
A state lottery is a revenue source that extracts a great deal of money from the people who can least

class may play as an occasional, inexpensive diversion, but the vast majority of people who play the
lottery are poor. Merely because the poor are in a more economically desperate position. Currently 43
states in the United States run lotteries as a government operation. State officials claim the profit made

The State Government hits the poorest the hardest. Lotteries take the most from those who can least

average $645 a year on lottery tickets, which is about 9% of their income. The reason people play
lotteries varies, but it mixes hopes and dreams with desperation: poorer people see it as a slim chance
to radically improve their standard of living. Ethnicity and education also play a role in purchasing
lottery tickets. In Texas, African Americans and Hispanics outspend Caucasians nearly two to one on
lottery tickets. According to a 2005 Texas Tech demographic survey commissioned by the lottery,
African Americans in Texas spend $109 a month on lottery tickets, Hispanics spend $102, and
Caucasians spend $55. Household with incomes under $25,000 spent an average of about $600 a year,
while $100,000 plus earners spent about $300 year. People who never graduated from college spent

I found one review by the New York times, the New York times wrote a review directed to parents to
encourage parents to read to their child The Crossover. The New York times mentions that this book
deserved to win both the Newbery Medal and the Coretta School King Book Honor. They also
mention how inspiring this book is as well, inspire a discussion about healthy lifestyle choices and the
impact of those choices on people and their loved ones. ( ) This book is truly about the love of family
and the challenges that are present in families as well. OVerall, this book was about the love of a
family and a positive influence for children everywhere. The next review I found talked about the
contemporary issues about race, There is a traffic stop on the way to a game, in which the boy s father
(like many an African American man) is pulled over for a minor infraction; Josh is warned by his
mother about what happens to young black men who let their tempers get the better of them. () This
book is a great book for young students of different races to create a connection they can relate to.
This review also mentions that his book talks about health concerns such as hereditary hypertension.
This opens up for a discussion on heart health and how to make healthy choices. Lastly, the reivew
urges for people to read this story to learn about the bond between a family that

Themes Of Osmosis Jones Monomyth
Osmosis Jones and the Monomyth Osmosis Jones tells the story of a white blood cell who plays the
role of a policeman inside a man named Frank. Teamwork is the central theme in Osmosis Jones, and
is developed through the monomyth. The monomyth or hero s journey shows the steps that most
movies go through, for example, The Matrix, Harry Potter, and Hunger Games. Most of these stories
pass through twelve specific steps. According to Joseph Campbell, in his book, The Hero With a
Thousand Faces, The monomyth is a structure that is common in many heroic stories, an outline that
has existed for millennia. This story follows the main steps within the monomyth, while each step
helps strengthen the theme. Osmosis Jones, the main protagonist, lives his everyday life as a rebellious
germ policeman in the mouth. The first step of the monomyth, or his call to adventure is when Frank,
the body he is trying to protect, contracts a deadly virus named Thrax. Thinking Thrax was just a
common cold Frank consumes a pill called Drixenol. Drixenol, also known as Drix, befriends Jones as
they are assigned partners on the cold case. Drix helps fulfill the second step of the monomyth, and
becomes Jones assistance. This is where the two join as one and become a team. Although Jones and
Drix go through a lot of small trials their first big trial, and the third step of the monomyth, is their
encounter with Thrax in the nose. While in Franks nose Thrax turns the pressure pods up which
destroys all the walls in his nostril. This causes a runny nose which Jones and Drix struggle to contain.
After the nose incident Jones and Drix work together to extract evidence from the old know it all
chicken pox influenza. With Jones smooth talking and Drix s big gun they use teamwork to beat the
truth out of the old timer. Knowing all about Thrax they set off to find and defeat the menacing virus.
Finally, they find Thrax at a new club on Franks forehead named The Zit. As they listen in on Thrax s
plan to kill Frank within forty eight hours they are discovered. Through teamwork they destroy The
Zit and all the germs within it including Thrax, or so they think. Thrax miraculously survives the
explosion and moves forward with his plan to kill Frank.

Abuse In Boy Gets Girl
(Gilman 30). In other words, Theresa develops a clue as to what Tony does not understand, so the
violent act does not come clearly through the play. It is only when she does not see him that she has
more problems for herself. She is forced to consider cultural factor that may be contributing to her
dilemma (Solomonson 202). Theresa is unsure how to proceed dealing with Tony after he leaves.
Unlike the way Carol treats John demanding for answers, Tony is less present, only after the first date
while Carol visits John two more time after their first initial encounter. In both cases, Carol and Tony
represent how they undermine one s ability, in which John and Theresa are more concerned with
themselves and they do no think about their surroundings. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Every time John deals with either his wife of Jerry (his lawyer), he is more fed up that nothing goes
right that he hesitates when responding ...it s not a question of the deposit...will you call Jerry (Mamet

comfort stating I am doing you the courtesy. I m talking straight to you (Mamet 35). By his actions
John establishe[s] the rules and that is a form of power abuse (Gándara 177). It is Carol who uses John
s action as a way to attack him when he interrupts her. Taking into consideration that Carol initiates
the act of meeting him in his office suggest that she does not in fact realize the damaged she has
caused. John however makes it a fault to use his personal life in a way to punish Carol, in which the
stage directions explains He restrains her from leaving (Mamet

Summary Of Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep
Throughout Philip K. Dick s Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? we see the main character, Rick
Deckard become steadily more empathetic towards the androids. However, the crux of this change in
his perspective is observed in his attempt to kill Luba Luft and the turmoil he feels afterwards. In Dick
s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep Luba Luft is one of the most human androids of the story and
it is this trait that makes it so hard for Rick to kill her. She acts just as a young girl would, exhibiting
innocence and naivety. This is observed in how absorbed 2. fig. Having one s attention fully or
intensely engaged in; captivated, engrossed (OED online, 2) she is in the painting, puberty . Luba is
taking part in the inherently human act of enjoying art so much so that she is absorbed in the picture
before her (122), not even noticing the two bounty hunters set to kill her. The vulnerability exhibited
by Luba through these actions is mirrored in the painting she is so engrossed in: a drawing of a young
girl, hands clasped together, seated on the edge of a bed, an expression of bewildered wonder and new,
groping awe imprinted on the face (122). The girl in the painting is nude and undergoing Puberty , a
vulnerable stage in a young girl s life in which she becomes a woman; Luba is attempting to undergo
her own puberty , trying to transition into becoming a human being and not just another android. Rick
s changing views on androids is not only illustrated by his growing empathy towards them but also in
how he thinks of them. He begins to associate human traits with them seeing them more as people
than objects. This new view of androids is contrasted to Phil Resch s view of them when he attempts
to murder Luba and Rick tries to persuade him not to. Phil continually refers to Luba and other
androids as it (124), objectifying them. To Phil, the androids are not people at all: they are objects.
Whereas Rick refers to Luba as her (122), this difference in pronouns illustrates that Rick sees Luba as
a human being. Rick s behaviour towards Luba and androids in general has changed

The Indians, naturally, were against their removal from their homelands, and they had two major protest against their removal. The first reason was the fact that they were there first by thousands of years only for white men to invade and tell them to live somewhere else because the white men were superior to the natives. The second reason was that the U.S government kept breaking treaties and was forcing out tribes that had gone through the proper channels for their land. Treaties were signed and land was sacrificed in order to retain some semblance of independence but the states got greedy and wanted it all. It was the Indians who followed the treaties and never went after their lost land or left their borders but the Americans continued to encroach on them. The Memorial Of the Cherokee Nation explained how Indians were tricked into selling land that belonged to the Nation so that Indian territory became American territory despite the people having no right to sell land given to the Cherokee Nation. The Cherokee government fought the breaks in the treaties but the judicial decision was overruled and the Cherokees were still forced to move. Besides the breaches in the treaties, the Cherokee tribe was one of the five assimilated tribes meaning they adopted European customs and religions. The Cherokee had become civilized as was the European s goal and they fought their battle through the legal system not in a war. In this sense, the Indian Removal was unjust and ... One resilience factor is hardiness , discuss how this factor can be protective against PTSD. Stress is a widely studied phenomenon, as stress is an experience that every individual go through in their everyday lives. According to Baum (1990), stress can be defined as a negative emotional experience accompanied by predicable biochemical, physiological and behavioural changes that are directed towards adaption either by manipulating the situation to alter the stressor or by accommodating its effects. Everybody is affected by stressful events in different ways, some are better at coping than others, this is because everyone is individually different. This is where resilience to stressful events comes into place. Resilience helps to explain the ability to adapt in the face of tragedy, hardship, trauma, adversity and a continuation of significant life stressors. Bonanno (2002).There are many factors that influence people s resilience to these life events, for example personality traits, optimism, lows of control, hardiness and social support. In this essay there will be a focus on hardiness as it is a main factor for overcoming mental illness. Especially for PTSD which is heavily influenced by stressful life experiences. Stress has a big impact on people s mental and physical health, the way in which people cope with stress can protect them from illness. Throughout life, people are faced ... There are namespaces that provide isolations for user database, processes and IP addresses. Think of a container as hosted on top of an Linux OS and it gets its own database, processes and IP addresses. It also gets cgroups which governs resources. • 12. The Conflict Of The Democratic Republic Of Congo Women s Position in Chaos: The Violence in Congo Problem Statement The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has continuously experienced increasingly brutal cases of violence against the female gender (Peterman, Palemo, Bredenkamp, 2011). As Peterman et al. (2011) continue to state, this gender based violence against women in the Congo is mainly characterized by widespread sexual violence, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), gang rape, and the abduction of women for sexual slavery purposes among several others. As a matter of importance, sexual violence against women is reported to be more prevalent within families, the resulting consequence being the continuous destabilization of populations, aside from the destruction of both community and family bonds (Johnson, Scott, Rughita, Kisielewski, Asher, Ong, Lwry, 2010). Recent reports from world bodies such as the United Nations indicate that a majority of the cases of sexual violence reported in the DRC are inexplicably linked to the ongoing armed and civil unrest in the Congo. The eastern parts of Congo that border Rwanda, i.e. North and South Kivu regions are reported as having been the most affected by the continued violence against women. Zinc oxide and Lanthanum doped Zinc oxide nanoparticles were synthesized by modifying the gel combustion method. It was found that La can greatly enhance the cytotoxicity and photocatalytic activity of ZnO nanoparticles towards various cell lines and paracetamol drug. These nanoparticles were characterized by various spectroscopic and other techniques which clearly revealed the presence of lanthanum ions. The absorption edge shifts towards the visible region after doping with La ions. This shift shows that the doping of La ions is favorable for absorbing the visible light. The comparative photocatalytic and cytotoxicity activity revealed that La doped ZnO nanoparticles remarkably enhanced activities as compared to the ZnO nanoparticles. The outcome of these studies offers valuable for planning La doped ZnO nanoparticles having cytotoxicity and photocatalytic activities helpful for the formulation of anticancer product and wastewater remediation. Socialists mainly share the belief that capitalism unfairly concentrates power and wealth among a small segment of society that controls capital and creates an unequal society. • 16. The Epistemology of Hegel s Introduction to the... The Epistemology of Hegel s Introduction to the Phenomenology of Spirit In his Phenomenology of Spirit, G.W.F. Hegel lays out a process by which one may come to know absolute truth. This process shows a gradual evolution from a state of natural consciousness (56) (1) to one of complete self consciousness which leads to an understanding of the nature of absolute knowledge itself (66). By understanding the relation between consciousness and truth, one may come to know the true nature of our existence. Hegel proposes to answer these questions in one bold stroke; he relates them in such a way as to make an infinitely complex and indiscernible universe a unitary whole. This process from a natural state to a kind of transcendence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is another implicit falsity in this way of thinking, however. The intellect as instrument implies that the intellect is an entity distinct from ourselves (54). It also assumes that the absolute stands fixed on one side while the intellect stands off by itself on the other (54), which leads to a major flaw in this train of thought. By completely separating the intellect and the absolute, this method separates the knowledge that the intellect may possess from the absolute as well, thus denying that which the intellect knows of any truth. To escape from this conundrum, one must assume that knowledge and consciousness are related in some way. Another less palatable option might be the acceptance of different kinds of truths, but Hegel will have none of that. He insists that the absolute alone is true, truth nothing if not absolute (55). Unfortunately, traditional science also makes this instrumental assumption, restricting consciousness from the absolute. But Hegel insists that science should not be discarded. One could throw out science because it presumes this separation, but instead one should try to refit science to this purpose (56). Thus, one must establish a new method of determining the truth. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Flow Assurance Management CHAPTER THREE FLOW ASSURANCE MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES As stated earlier in the introductory part of this work, Flow assurance challenges are indeed a great concern to the oil and gas industry. Starting from the formation, through processing and sales, flow assurance management strategies has to be carefully designed in order to prevent having problems with fluid flow. Remediation of hydrates or wax in flowlines and pipelines poses greater challenge and loss of money to the oil industry. This is because, blockage point location is a difficult job itself at first, and if blockage is far away from an access point, such as riser, it may be difficult to reach it with chemicals or other remediation tools especially at subsea location (Kaczmarski and Lorimer 2001). The goal was to test and see if my hypothesis were correct regarding the urine specific gravity, urine flow rate, and presents of reagents using the Labstix. My hypothesis for this experiment was that the Gatorade drinkers will have the highest urine flow rate and that non drinkers would have the highest urine specific gravity. Water is hypo osmotic and coke contains a high amount of sugar making it hyperosmotic relative to plasma. Gatorade consists of large amounts of electrolytes making it iso osmatic relative to the plasma. Based on these characteristics of the consumed substances, we are able to study the hormonal effects on the average UFR and USG. Our subjects did start out in a similar dehydrated state. Subjects were asked to fast for five hours prior to the lab and they were restricted to drink alcohol or eat fatty foods the night before. The purpose of avoiding food and drink prior to the lab was so that the nutrients in the food and beverages consumed are not absorbed into the blood stream because it could impact factors that are measured in certain tests. Fasting improves the accuracy of those tests (). If each student did not monitor or follow the correct procedure, we would have had multiple errors in our results. This gives wine producers an opportunity to invest in product innovation to capture this younger market s interest. Today, millennials consume more costly wine than their parents do. (The Fix, 2016). • 25. Recycling At The United Kingdom Recycling is a process that continues to develop and become more popular within waste management. As there is a wide amount of literature relating to this topic the following review will focus in on aspects such as recycling behaviours and recycling in the curriculum. Recycling in the United Kingdom Recycling is the method by which waste is collected and processed into raw materials, which in turn are processed into new products (Prestin and Pearce, 2010). This helps the UK comply with the EC Landfill Directive targets that state to reduce the quantity of municipal waste going to landfill sites (Kurz et al, 2007). The primary goal of recycling schemes is to increase the amount of material that is collected and recycled, meaning that less waste is going to disposal (Lane and Wagner, 2013). Woodard et al (2004) stated that the percentage of households in the United Kingdom involved in recycling needed to continue to increase to reach the national target of recycling household waste, therefore local authorities got involved in incentives, which is discussed later in the review. (Woodard et al, 2004). A main concern in modern society is the current state of the environment; it is a topic that is frequently examined in research. It has been found that people want to act in a way to enhance sustainability in the environment and recycling is a fairly simple behaviour which has a major impact on this. Recycling is also economically feasible whilst having great impacts on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Utilitarianism And The Theory Of Utilitarianism Mill determines that there is not a great amount of support for the utilitarian principle, but that is mostly due to it being vastly misunderstood by a large number of people that choose to discredit it, instead of trying to learn its intricacies. The two main criticisms of utilitarianism are opposites of each other in terms of belief. The first group to oppose the happiness theory draws their conclusions from the typical sense of the word utility, where it typically stands for the opposition of pleasure. The other group to oppose this theory holds the opposite view and thinks that utilitarianism bases everything on pleasure. Neither of these are accurate representations of what utilitarianism is. Mill says, Human beings have higher faculties than the animal appetites, and once they become conscious of them they don t regard anything as happiness that doesn t include their gratification. (10). Humans not only have the base and carnal needs of animals that drive survival, but we also have feelings, imaginations, intellects, and aspirations. Once we discover and acknowledge this significant difference between us and animals it is impossible for us to be satisfied with the mediocrity of simple pleasures of bodily sensations. Mental pleasures are seen as superior to those of the bodily nature because they are more permanent, safer, less costly and so on, (11). Another important factor of determining higher and lower pleasures is to look at not only quantity, but also quality. A pleasure can be determined as having a higher quality if a rational person, prefer[ed] it even when they know that a greater amount of discontent will come with it, and wouldn t give it up in exchange for any quantity of [another pleasure] that they are capable of having, (11). A higher pleasure is preferred over lower pleasures, even if it comes with negative side effects. This drastically shows the extreme value that is put on higher pleasures and how much more valuable they are to the human condition than anything that could come from a basal pleasure. Many Americans listen to rap music, even though different rap artist discuss various issues in their songs, it may influences their fans to do the same. A large amount of rap music contains explicit lyrics that describe illegal activities, aggression, and sexual content. Researchers from Iowa State University and the Texas Department of Human Services found that aggressive music lyrics increase aggressive thought and feelings, might perpetuate aggressive behavior and have long term effects (American Psychological Association). Today, this search is known to the world as the pursuit of happiness . The phrase use was heightened during the enlightenment period and lingered for long after. This impact of its use did not only impact the way life was looked at but also impacted the arts during that time and for the future. Two pieces that show this evidence is the novel Candide by Voltaire and the song Pursuit of Happiness by Kid Cudi. Both of these works, even though they were published more than two centuries apart, carry the theme of the pursuit of happiness. These pieces are evidence of the unchanging pursuit that mankind goes through. The beginning of the pursuit is where both of the stories start off. • 37. Causes Of The Boston Tea Party On December 16, 1773, a group of overtaxed, oppressed, and overlooked colonists dumped 342 boxes of tea from Britain into the cold, dark depths of the Boston Harbor. The British Parliament had been gradually raising the colonists taxes, taxing anything that could possibly be taxed, continually pushing the colonists to the edge of rebellion. The Tea Act was passed on May 10, 1773, granting the British East India Trading Company a government sanctioned monopoly on tea, forcing the colonists to buy tea from Britain alone. Although it didn t create any additional taxes, the colonists were so infuriated at Parliament for recent similar impositions that the Tea Act of 1773 was the grain of rice that tipped the scale for the colonists, causing them to ruin around £18,000 worth of tea. Despite destroying so much property, the Mohawks took care not to harm an members of the crew (Schweikart and Allen, 75). The Boston Tea Party was the correct response to the Tea Act on top of others for three reasons; it revealed the colonists oppression, it encouraged the colonists independence, and it set a great example for revolutions in the future. However, there is still some debate as to whether the Boston Tea Party was a reasonable response to the oppressive acts of the British Parliament. • 44. Themes Of Osmosis Jones Monomyth Osmosis Jones and the Monomyth Osmosis Jones tells the story of a white blood cell who plays the role of a policeman inside a man named Frank. Teamwork is the central theme in Osmosis Jones, and is developed through the monomyth. The monomyth or hero s journey shows the steps that most movies go through, for example, The Matrix, Harry Potter, and Hunger Games. Most of these stories pass through twelve specific steps. According to Joseph Campbell, in his book, The Hero With a Thousand Faces, The monomyth is a structure that is common in many heroic stories, an outline that has existed for millennia. This story follows the main steps within the monomyth, while each step helps strengthen the theme. Osmosis Jones, the main protagonist, lives his everyday life as a rebellious germ policeman in the mouth. The first step of the monomyth, or his call to adventure is when Frank, the body he is trying to protect, contracts a deadly virus named Thrax. Thinking Thrax was just a common cold Frank consumes a pill called Drixenol. Drixenol, also known as Drix, befriends Jones as they are assigned partners on the cold case. Drix helps fulfill the second step of the monomyth, and becomes Jones assistance. This is where the two join as one and become a team. Although Jones and Drix go through a lot of small trials their first big trial, and the third step of the monomyth, is their encounter with Thrax in the nose. While in Franks nose Thrax turns the pressure pods up which destroys all the walls in his nostril. This causes a runny nose which Jones and Drix struggle to contain. After the nose incident Jones and Drix work together to extract evidence from the old know it all chicken pox influenza. With Jones smooth talking and Drix s big gun they use teamwork to beat the truth out of the old timer. Knowing all about Thrax they set off to find and defeat the menacing virus. Finally, they find Thrax at a new club on Franks forehead named The Zit. As they listen in on Thrax s plan to kill Frank within forty eight hours they are discovered. Through teamwork they destroy The Zit and all the germs within it including Thrax, or so they think. Thrax miraculously survives the explosion and moves forward with his plan to kill Frank. ... • 45. Abuse In Boy Gets Girl (Gilman 30). In other words, Theresa develops a clue as to what Tony does not understand, so the violent act does not come clearly through the play. It is only when she does not see him that she has more problems for herself. She is forced to consider cultural factor that may be contributing to her dilemma (Solomonson 202). Theresa is unsure how to proceed dealing with Tony after he leaves. Unlike the way Carol treats John demanding for answers, Tony is less present, only after the first date while Carol visits John two more time after their first initial encounter. In both cases, Carol and Tony represent how they undermine one s ability, in which John and Theresa are more concerned with themselves and they do no think about their surroundings. ... • 46. Summary Of Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep Throughout Philip K. Dick s Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep? we see the main character, Rick Deckard become steadily more empathetic towards the androids. However, the crux of this change in his perspective is observed in his attempt to kill Luba Luft and the turmoil he feels afterwards. In Dick s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep Luba Luft is one of the most human androids of the story and it is this trait that makes it so hard for Rick to kill her. She acts just as a young girl would, exhibiting innocence and naivety. This is observed in how absorbed 2. fig. Having one s attention fully or intensely engaged in; captivated, engrossed (OED online, 2) she is in the painting, puberty . Luba is taking part in the inherently human act of enjoying art so much so that she is absorbed in the picture before her (122), not even noticing the two bounty hunters set to kill her. The vulnerability exhibited by Luba through these actions is mirrored in the painting she is so engrossed in: a drawing of a young girl, hands clasped together, seated on the edge of a bed, an expression of bewildered wonder and new, groping awe imprinted on the face (122). The girl in the painting is nude and undergoing Puberty , a vulnerable stage in a young girl s life in which she becomes a woman; Luba is attempting to undergo her own puberty , trying to transition into becoming a human being and not just another android. Rick s changing views on androids is not only illustrated by his growing empathy towards them but also in how he thinks of them. He begins to associate human traits with them seeing them more as people than objects. This new view of androids is contrasted to Phil Resch s view of them when he attempts to murder Luba and Rick tries to persuade him not to. Phil continually refers to Luba and other androids as it (124), objectifying them. To Phil, the androids are not people at all: they are objects. Whereas Rick refers to Luba as her (122), this difference in pronouns illustrates that Rick sees Luba as a human being. Rick s behaviour towards Luba and androids in general has changed ...
