Alice Paul Thesis
Suffragist Alice Paul got transferred out of the psychopathic ward of Washington, and being
force fed. During her toil Alice Paul said, Why not let this miserable creature starve. The country
would be much better off without her and the balance of her gang of pickets. (Dismore 1). Alice
Paul went on this immense hunger strike for her six companions. She wanted to give her six
companions better food. She threatened to kill herself of starvation. She was very determined,
she was force fed multiple times, but she cared so much for her companion that she didn t give
up. Amidst her hunger strike she and her companions were put into solitary confinement inside a
tiny cell with boarded up windows. All this shows Alice Paul will never give up and she spoke
with her actions not her words. Reason 2 Throughout her life Alice Paul fought hard against
president Woodrow Wilson. She put up banners. Did silent protesting in front of the White House.
Throughout this she endured mant many things. She endured many things. She had to stay in one
house for 2 days due to public outrage when she showed a Kaiser Wilson banner to a Russian
person going into the White House. In Alice Paul it says, They returned every day, in good weather

She did countless things to pass an amendment which would grant the women their wish of being
able to have their rights. Including a hunger strike, a silent protest, and she even endured force
feeding. In Alice Paul it says, For five months the White House siege continued; while Congress
refused to act without word from the president. (William and Mary Lavender 4). This shows the
frustration that she had to go through, and how much the government seemed stubborn. She never
gave up despite knowing the fact that president Wilson wouldn t budge. In the end she was able to
convince president Wilson. She never even married. If that doesn t show her devotion I don t know

For-Profit Colleges Essay
There are several characteristics of for profit colleges that make them vastly different from two
year community colleges or four year state or private universities. The first major difference is
that for profit colleges are run more like a corporation than traditional colleges. This allows them
to hire professors on short term contracts, without requiring them to gain tenure. This practice is
beneficial to for profit colleges because if the professor s statistics are horrible, he or she could be
let go of sooner without having to go through a review board process, the collegecould simply not
renew their contract. Another difference from tradition colleges is that classes can start at for
profit schools more often and classes can continue all year. This is due to the fact that most of the
student body at for profits schools are online students who may be located thousands of miles away
from the base campus. Another major difference of for profit colleges is that new courses can be...

This means that in order to have a decent job, you usually need some type of degree or training
beyond a high school education. Unfortunately, in years to come, this trend toward for profit
colleges could devastate our nation s economy. The student loan debt in the US is roughly equal
to the amount of US credit card debt, they is a frightening fact because for profit student are more
likely to default on their loans (they make up 44% of all student debt defaults), which could burst
our student debt bubble. This would have devastating consequences for our government, tax payers,
and possibly even the global economy. If our student debt bubble were to burst, like the housing
bubble back in 2007 2009, it would have the potential to plunge us into another Great Depression.
That, is

Essay on America Needs Stricter Gun Control Laws
Gun control has become more of a hot topic in recent years. Some believe that there is no need
for additional gun control. On the other hand, we have some that believe that the government can
improve gun laws. Although many believe that gun control will violate their rights, the idea of
stricter gun control laws can help communities. We live in very violent times. There are daily
accounts reported in the media about shootings. We do well to ask, Is there a solution to this
growing crisis? Yes! It is call gun control. The lack of stricter gun control has damaged our
communities. How so? Well, in order to answer that question, first we have to understand what
makes up a community. Then we will explore the history of our gun control laws.... Show more

Many people are familiar with the second amendment. However, this amendment has been
interpreted many different ways to fit the wants of this society. It has been used and several
times by the Supreme Court and politicians. But we need to examine the second amendment
closely. Many people fail to mention or read the small print. The second amendment was ratified
in 1791. The second amendment states: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security
of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed This has been
distorted so many ways. This amendment is also dated. We have to keep in mind that our society
has changed since this amendment has been written. This was made around the time of the
Revolutionary War. During that time all males citizens were required to own guns because they
were fighting against the British forces. Virginia has the best interpretation of the second
amendment. Before the Declaration of Independence, Virginia was the first colony to adopt a
state constitution. They stated that the second amendment as follows: A well regulated Militia,
composed of the body of the people trained to arms, is the proper, natural, and safe defense of a
free state Today there is no need to protect ourselves from government take over. We handed them
ourselves our lives our education. They control the way we live and raise our children among a lot

We Must Stop The Privacy Of Service From Someone Misusing...
Terms and conditions are something we encounter daily, yet we do not give a second thought.
They are a legally binding document that tells us what rules we must follow if we want to use a
service. The terms and conditions are used to protect the provider of that service from someone
misusing the service. Most of the time they are reasonable but in some occasions they include
conditions we would never agree to. For example, we give a service like Facebook the right to
store information about our personal lives when we use it but we also unknowingly give Facebook
the right to use the information for other purposes. Some people who use Facebook may not know
that their personal information is actually being sold to other companies and used for... Show more

We can then use that information to make a conclusion. For example, there was a connection
between certain search terms in Google and the spread of the flu. If the certain terms were
searched then it was likely that the flu had spread to the area where the search was made (Big
Data 2). Using this information we were able to administer treatments to targeted areas and
prevent the spread of the flu. What new technology allows us to do is process data in a huge
scale. It will take data and find correlations between data points. We can then use this correlation
and form conclusions that will help us make decisions. In theory, this practice is beneficial but it
will undoubtedly have side effects. If big data was to be widely implemented into society then
companies will use any source of information and use it without any prejudice. Any information
that big data can get its hand on will most likely be used no matter how sensitive it is. With big
data, society will have preconceived ideas about an individual based on the correlation of the
individual s characteristic and other people who have the same characteristics. The article They re

The Boston Tea Party
Albany Plan was a plan to create a unified government for the Thirteen Colonies. It was proposed
by Benjamin Franklin whose desire was to create a unified nation, for the people of America. He
realized the chaos of a non official government system and proposed that they establish a
presidential position, who was paid by the king, as well as a grand council, which he said would
be elected by the assemblies of the colonies. However, this plan was not approved as the French
and Indian war had already begun.

In Mississippi, plantations arose similar to those in the southern colonies in that black slaves
provided the labor and were owned by the Creoles. In 1718, New Orleans was one of the largest
cities that contained these situations of colored people in the possession of whites, being that it was
owned by the French.
Currency Act was any of several Acts of the Parliament of Great Britain that regulated paper
money issued by the colonies of British America. Being that paper money was often used as A
method of payment practiced widespread during the war, colonial assemblies required the issuing
of paper money to stop. The government also specified that the paper money already in
circulation, was to be put to an end. This was followed by the taxing of paper called the Stamp Act,
which reiterated the idea of eliminating, or minimizing the use of paper.
Daughters of Liberty consisted of women who displayed their patriotism by participating in
boycotts of British goods following the passage of the Townshend Acts. After the Tea Act was
passed, women banded together to write and perform plays that exemplified the resentment of the
colonies, while proving the prominent roles and necessity of women in resistance activities. They
also proved that they would rather heart with tea, then with their freedom. Best provoke women to

Common Core State Standards Act
Common Core State Standards Common Core State Standards is being heard throughout the
education world. Many cringe when the words are spoken and many fight to support what the
words stand for. Common Core was introduced in 2009 by state leaders. Common Core State
Standards were developed to prepare children for the business world or the reality after grade school
. The Common Core is a set of high quality academic standards in mathematics and English
language arts/literacy, also known as ELA (About the Standards, n.d.). The goals for the standards
outline what students should know before leaving his or her current grade level. The standards
were created to ensure that all students graduate from high schoolwith the skills and knowledge
necessary to succeed in college, career, and life, regardless of where they live (About the
Standards, n.d.). This is an ambitious goal, but with much support can be accomplished. According
to Common Core State Standards Initiative (n.d.) The Common Core has been adopted by forty
two states already and is accompanied by District of Columbia and Department of Defense
EducationActivity. Common Core was developed to improve the academics in society s schools.
Academics in the past years have not been successful and the United States has fallen behind
international education. One root cause has been an uneven patchwork of academic standards that
vary from state to state and do not agree on what students should know and be able to do at each

INTRODUCTION
India is an agriculture based country since ancient time which is considered as the backbone of
our economy and the agrarian sector contributes substantially to the GDP of India. Around seventy
per cent of the Indian population and more than fifty per cent of the total work force still depends
on agriculture and allied areas for live hood, agriculture meets the basic needs of India s growing
population. Today, agriculture has achieved commercial importance and changed from subsistence
farming to commercial farming, import oriented to export oriented sector, supply driven
technology to demand driven technology etc. New inputs and new technologies are hitting market
every day. In the developed countries, agribusiness is defined as the total output arising from farm
production and product processing at both pre and post farm gate levels. In developing countries
like India, agribusiness is a generic term that refers to the various businesses involved in food
production, including farming and contract farming, seed supply, agrichemicals, farm machinery,
wholesale and distribution, processing, marketing, and retail sales. Agribusiness is widely used
simply as a convenient portmanteau of agriculture and business, referring to the range of activities
and disciplines encompassed by modern food production. Hence agribusiness can be defined as

Power training involves applying a force at the greatest speed possible (Power = force x velocity).
Jumping is a powerful movement and it must be trained using exercises which require a high
power output. In a previous article, I had described the importance of strength in vertical jump
training development. A well developed strength program supplies the necessary force application
in the power equation. Now it is time to discuss how to apply velocity to the power equation.
Performing movements at a high velocity is the goal when designing power based exercises along
with a second goal of focusing on maximum effort with each repetition. There are two major types
of power exercises, those which involve more than body weight resistance and those utilizing only
body weight. This article will discuss the application of performing power exercises which
incorporate an added resistance through weight training. Power resistance exercises can fall into
several categories:
1) weightlifting exercises with a low to moderate percentage

feature of this film that makings it stand out is the way the crew manipulated color throughout
the film. They used everyone s costumes to show their personalities in the movie. Vianne Rocher

Whenever Vianne was included in a scene the camera would pan to follow her, showing her
importance over the other characters. This is also known as a dolly shot. While the camera
follows vianne we can see her doing a number of things, such as preparing sweets while she talks
to her customers, or when she calls in people from the streets to come in and taste one of her
sweets. A second example of how the camera added to the protagonist was the constant focus on
her face to catch her true emotions. When she was with Raux and she finally broke down to
tears about how her daughter Anouk was unhappy and hated the life they were leading the
viewers could see the sadness on her face. In happy times when she was making candies with
Josephine Muscat Lena Olin the camera once again zoomed in on her face where the viewers
could see she truly was happy. The camera played a very large role in giving us the prospective of

The severity of this dependence varies between individuals. Roughly 4% of the Canadian
population, over the age of 15, are suffering from an alcohol dependency or are alcoholics. The
highest percentage of these drinking problems are among people between the ages of 20 and 24.
Roughly one fifth of Canada s alcoholics have admitted that financial and job related problems
have been caused by their drinking ( Alcohol in Canada, 2016).
D. Causes and Effects
The effects associated with alcohol are produced by the ethanol in the alcohol. The severity of
these effects is reflected by the concentration of alcohol in an individual s blood, which is
dictated by the amount of alcohol ingested, the volume of blood, the individual s metabolism,
and amount of time since ingestion. In large doses, alcohol acts as a depressant of the central
nervous system. A blood alcohol level of 0.1% affects some of the motor areas of the brain
associated with speech, balance and manual dexterity. A blood alcohol level of 0.2% depresses all
motor functions and the area concerned with emotions is depressed. At a blood alcohol level of
0.45% the entire section of the brain that handles perception is depressed and the individual
becomes comatose. At a blood alcohol level of 0.7% the parts of the brain that control the heartbeat
and breathing are depressed and the individual

Thousands of illegal immigrants smuggle themselves across the United States border each day.
The Immigration and Naturalization Service, or the INS, concluded that the United States is
currently a place to call home for a population of approximately twelve million illegal immigrants
(Hayes 16). An American who has never been to Mexico, for example, may wonder why these
people risk their lives to live in the United States. With the jobs, education, welfare, and

Employers are able to make money because production is fast and cheap for them. The Pew
Hispanic Center concluded in 2001 classified an estimated 5.3 million workers in the U.S. as
unauthorized workers in the labor force. These jobs include 700,000 restaurant workers, 250,000
household workers, and 620,000 construction workers (Murphy). This is a whole lot of cheap
labor, and without it the U.S. would suffer. If 620,000 construction workers were gone, home
improvement projects across the nation would quickly be hard to find. With a large number of
these immigrants also earning wages working on farms, Americans would find much of their
produce rotting in fields due to the lack of workers (Murphy 2). The positive effect of these
immigrants on the nation s labor force is well supported by Americans; however, the opinion of
those rejecting these workers is accepted and taken into account as well. The main argument of
Americans rejecting the idea of immigration is supported by the rising unemployment rate in
America. There are hundreds of American natives who are unemployed. Harvard sociologist,
Christopher Jencks, states, The reason that Americans will not take jobs washing dishes, cleaning
hotel rooms, mowing lawns, and picking fruit is because immigrant labor has driven the wages
down (Taylor). Not only are the wages being driven down, but the working conditions as well.

The reasons why American people do not vote Essay
The reasons why many Americans do not vote
America is a free country, and voting is an important part of that freedom. Unlike other countries
where dictators and monarchs make decisions on behalf of the people, Americans get the right to
decide who runs the country and what laws should govern citizens. But even though voting is an
important privilege, most Americans simply don t vote, and some of their reasons may surprise
you. Here are seven common reasons most Americans don t vote.
1.They think their vote won t count
Many Americans don t vote because they think their vote doesn t count. This is a common excuse
that s rooted in the belief that the Electoral College chooses the President, not the voters. In reality,

If you don t voice your opinion by voting, you shouldn t have the right to voice your complaints
when things don t go the way you want them to.
5.Lines are too long
Voting lines can sometimes be long, and for busy people waiting in line is a horrible waste of
time and energy. But in reality, voting lines are seldom long, even for high profile presidential
races. With the advent of new technology, voting is becoming easier and more efficient than ever
before, and this allows voters to get in and out without having to wait in long lines. This excuse is
becoming less and less relevant as time goes on.
6.Don t like the candidates
Politicians are sometimes easy to dislike. Their flaws are often aired publicly for the entire
world to see, and many people generally distrust politicians based on this information. But even
if you don t particularly like any of the candidates, do you really know them? And should it
matter whether you like them or not? Perhaps a politician s stance on issues important to you is
more important than whether or not they are likeable. Even if it s choosing the lesser of two or
more evils in your eyes, voting is still an important way for you to voice your opinion about the
subjects you care about most.
5.Can t get to the polls
Getting to polling locations can be a hassle, especially for the disabled, the sick, and people without
transportation. In addition, voting becomes even more difficult for

Essay On The Voting Rights Act
This act flows from a clear and simple wrong, its only purpose is to right that wrong. Millions of
Americans are denied the right to vote because of their color. This law will ensure them the right to
vote. The wrong is one which no American, in his heart, can justify. The right is one which no
American, true to our principles, can deny.... It is not just a question of guilt, although there is that.
It is that men cannot live with a lie and not be stained by it, said the president (Equal Citizenship
and the Individual Right to Vote). The Voting Rights Act was one of the most monumental laws in
the entire history of American freedom a law that, very exclusively, aimed to break down the legal
barriers at the state and local governments level of authority that prohibited African Americans from
exercising their constitutional right to vote.
Even with the passage of the Voting Rights Acts of 1965, states have tried to manipulate the use of

Evangelical Protestantism Vs. Catholicism

Evangelical Protestantism versus Catholicism
Protestants and Catholics are constantly being compared and weighed against one another in order
to declare whose faith is best or true. Though there are many similarities between each faith as they
are both Christian denominations, their differences cause much friction between the two groups.
Some of the foundational Catholic beliefs revolve around the ideals that Jesus Christ is the Son of
God, that the Bible is the inspired, error free, revealed Word of God, and the existence of the Holy
Trinity, which is one God in three persons. In the Evangelical Church, there is only one God, the
creator and ruler of all things. Although the nature of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first big difference between the two is what they acknowledge as Holy scripture. Catholics
not only use the Old and New Testament scripture but also use the Apocrypha and the catholic
interpretation of the bible. Evangelicals believe that they are justified or saved by faith alone,
not by good works. Good works are not ignored and you will be rewarded in heaven for them but
that is not what saves you in the eyes of an evangelical. Contrary to this belief Catholic hold to
the ideal of baptism being the removal of sins and in turn God grants grace to those that are
baptized. The grace given by God is then used to produce good works. Evangelicals believe and
practice baptism however unlike Catholic they only practice adult baptism. Catholics practice infant
baptism, which is an un biblically supported custom. Purgatory is another custom evangelicals
reject. Catholics profess that there are two types of punishment, a temporary and eternal. Purgatory
is pretty much a holding place for people that have only committed certain kinds of sins. For
evangelicals believe that only God can forgive sins but Catholics claim that priests have been given
authority to forgive sins, standing in place of the Holy Spirit. Roman Catholic beliefs include the
special authority of the pope the ability of saints to intercede on behalf of believers, and the
doctrine of transubstantiation that is, that the bread used in the Eucharist

He goes on to explain that effective, proactive people spend most of their time in Quadrant II. To
accomplish this I would take his advice and try to organize my week on Sundays and try to
delegate responsibility with goals in mind not set ways that they have to be done. For the
interdependence section, the idea of making emotional deposits as often as possible will allow one
to feel better and work more efficiently with everyone s needs in mind.
The major emotional deposits Covey talks about are; understanding the individual, attending to little
things, keeping commitments, clarifying expectations, and showing personal integrity. With the
help of these habits I feel like I could improve myself. Understanding someone is very important
in everyday activities and especially in business situations. You need to understand who your
consumer is as well as whom your co workers are. When you understand them on a deeper level
you can relate better and be more productive. Something I ve always believed in is the attention to
little things matter most. It shows people that you do care and pay attention. This ties in well with
keeping commitments because that is something that is not always a big deal but can mean a lot to
people.

My Observation At The Mall Center Mall
For my observation, I decided to go the Town Center Mall in Boca Raton, Florida to observe the
advertisements that are present in our community. I went to the mall to conduct research because
I need to make a purchase for a vacation, so I thought this was the perfect place to go. Each store
I walked into, there were advertisements for instant savings, but the further I walked into any
store, the prices climbed higher. Truthfully, I was shocked by the amount of people who did not
care that they were being bamboozled. Initially, we were told at the front of the store that there
were discounts, but we had to find out on our own that the prices raised exponentially. This was the

Cliff Freeman said that people would kill anything that they thought of before they had the chance
because they got nervous. Lee Clow goes on to say that those business professionals have no
creativity, trust, or bravery when letting them, the advertisers, develop an idea. These people have
conquered the skill of persuasion and have mastered how to make the audience feel a connection to
their brand. Their creativity and knowledge helped me better my understanding of the advertising

Library Research At first, I had no idea where to start my research. I would go on Google and try
to learn anything that I can that related to advertising. But that was too broad to start my research
because that really did not give me enough information. I had to change my approach to
researching because typing in advertising on Google was not going to do me any justice. But I
after reading about suggestions on where to start researching, I went on Youtube and watched a
couple of TedTalks about advertising.
I found a TedTalk by Jean Kilbourne titled The Dangerous Ways Ads See Women. I thought this
would be a perfect foundation towards answering my question. Although this is a popular source,
Kilbourne discussed about women body image issues in the United States and how there is a
psychological effect that impacts the way that women present themselves. This video helped me get

Cultural Relativism In America
Cultural relativism is the idea that morality is about objective facts, and different communities
have different morals. Just because they may be different than other communities, it doesn t mean
they are wrong. Gensler points out several problems with this idea, the biggest one being that it
forces us to conform to society. Gensler uses an example with a figure skater named Lika Rebel
who is from a Nazi country. Even though the majority of the society believes that putting Jews in
concentration camps is okay, she disagrees. If you were to apply cultural relativism, Lika wouldn t
be able to think otherwise because it is what her society approves of and is believed to be good.

Examples Of Ethical Coding In Health Care
Healthcare Coding and Billing Standards of ethical coding are very important and should not be
taken lightly. When guidelines are not followed it can lead to large fines and can even cause a
healthcare organization to shut down. Making a mistake or willingly coding wrong can ruin the
reputation throughout the community for healthcare. Coding compliance is inherently linked to a
number of the preceding compliance risk areas including proper documentation, accurate billing,
medical records creation and retention, referral guidelines, and teaching physician rules.
Acknowledging that one of the biggest areas of risk for health care providers is the accurate
submission of claims and reimbursement to Medicare, an effective health care corporate
compliance plan will also include an effective coding compliance plan (AAPC, 2009). According
to Bryant (2017) examples of ethical coding principles include applying accurate data, reporting
only correct codes, refusing to skew data, maintaining confidentiality, maintaining integrity, and no
participating in inappropriate activities. Supervising If I were a coding supervisor, I would place

When one considers important events in US history, things like the American Revolution, the
Westward Expansion, or the Civil Rights Movement come to mind. One in particular that I find
compelling, is the creation of the Women Airforce Service Pilots better known as WASPs,
during World War II. I find it interesting because prior to this time and after this period, woman
had a very limited social status. But for a brief time in the 1940s, women achieved not only job
equality but went above and beyond what society expected in many areas. The WASPs were one
such group who broke barriers in more ways than one.

This is just one example of the many nuclear weapons in the world. Nuclear warfare is caused by
a military conflict or a political strategy in which one uses nuclear weaponry to inflict damage
upon the opponent. Some believe that politicians and military personnel only want to possess
nuclear weapons because of the heightened sense of power and feeling of security. It s scary to
think that the human race is in the hands of the people who own these weapons. The effects of
nuclear use can be divided into four categories: instantaneous, near immediate, short term, and
long term. The heart of a nuclear explosion reaches temperatures over a several million degree
centigrade resulting in a heat flash over a wide area that vaporizes all human tissue. At
Hiroshima, within a radius of half a mile, the only remains of most of the people caught in the

buildings or otherwise shielded, will be indirectly killed by the blast and heat effects as buildings

Eight Legged Creepy Flies Research Paper
The Origin of Eight Legged Creepy Crawlies
The tragic tale of how spiders came into existence began with a young girl named Arachne;
naive, prideful and a bit too talented. Arachne challenged Athena, the goddess of weaving. In
some versions of the myth Arachne directly declared her superiority to the goddess and
challenged Athena, and in other versions, her sheer skill challenged the goddess. A contest
followed, and although Arachne s weaving was better than Athena s, it was disrespectful and
showed a disgraceful vision of the gods. Weaving the gods in a bad light was a tragic mistake for
Arachne, and she paid for the transgression with her human life. Athena in a rage decided to allow
Arachne to weave forever and turned her into a spider, or, scientifically known as an arachnid
(Hamilton 302 303).
As the myth above explains, Arachne was the first spider, so the species took her name: Arachnid.
Contrary to common knowledge, spiders are not the only arachnids in existence, although they are
the most significant order in that class. Other animals which fall under the category of arachnids
include scorpions, mites, ticks, and harvestmen. Today aspects of the myth live on in the existence

With a higher sense of individuality, humans began to conceive the gods in a personalized form.
This stage in development is called mythical . In Egypt, this process began during the late
prehistoric period, when writing was being invented and myths were being formulated (Mark).
The Mythical part of the egyptian religion was the way people personalized their Gods. They
started to do this in the prehistoric period, where people began to show why things happened
through myths. In the very end, the egyptian Gods were born.
Like all religions, that of ancient Egypt was complex. It evolved over the centuries from one that
emphasized local deities into a national religion with a smaller number of principal deities. Some
theologians think that Egypt was moving towards a monotheistic faith in a single creator,
symbolized by the sun god. There was no single belief system, but the Egyptians shared a common
understanding about the creation of the world and the possibility of reverting to chaos if the
destructive forces of the universe were unleashed (Mark). Even though there were many Gods,
Egyptians all had something in common. They all had one understanding of how the world worked.

impede instruction. We need a model for describing learning behavior related to rational numbers
prerequisite skills and development of rational number sense that is dynamic and allows for
continuous growth and change. It would inform us of the important background knowledge that
students bring with them and the prior experiences that influence their level of understanding. It
would further enable us to assess students ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What is being suggested is to bring it all together in a practical way. Briefly highlighting various
assessments and reports that have identified and highlighted the importance of conceptual
understanding enables one to trace back to the hatching of the idea. In addition, outlining the course
that got us to where we are today, trying to determine what it means to understand something and
how understanding can be assessed assists us in continuing that course of action in the right
direction.
In 1980, recommendations were made by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics for
reforming mathematics instruction in An Agenda for Action. These recommendations were based
on results of the second National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) and on data
collected by the National Science Foundation (NSF) largely from a study called Priorities in School
Mathematics (PRISM). Specifically in the area of fractions, NAEP contended that students inability
to compute with fractions was the result of dependence on rote memorization of algorithms and a
focus strictly on routine problems. Among eight recommendations, An Agenda for Action called for
problem solving to be the focus of school mathematics in the 80 s and basic skills in mathematics to
be more than computational fluency. The fourth NAEP showed improvement, but indicated that
mathematics instruction still lacked depth,

The Tell-Tale Heart Compare Contrast Essay
Throughout both The Tell Tale Heart and The Cask of Amontillado the reader is able to pick up
similarities as well as differences between the narrators in both stories.
In both The Tell Tale Heart and The Cask of Amontillado the main characters each want to kill
another human being for petty reasons. Taking someone s life is never justifiable unless having
done so was self defense. However neither Montresor, the main character of The Cask of
Amontillado , nor the unnamed narrator of The Tell Tale Heartwere killing for this reason. Both of
them had very vague and petty reasons for murdering someone. In The Tell Tale Heart the reason
why the narrator wants to kill the old man is simply because his eye bothers him.

The main characters in The Tell Tale Heart and The Cask of Amontillado feel differently after
the deed has been done. The narrator in The Tell Tale Heart at first feels like there is nothing
wrong with what he is. He thinks that he s brilliant in the way of sneaking into this old man s
house night after night. He is even smiling as he kills the man, feeling completely happy as he
kills him. It is not until he begins to hear the old man s heart beating. The heart reveals his
conscience, and after hearing it, it is the only time he is presented as having some sort of moral
code, (___short stories__). Montresor, on the other hand, enjoys every bit of what he did to
Fortunato. As Fortunato screams and yanks against the chains, Montresor sits down for a minute
or two to delight in his pain. His words hint that for a moment, and one moment only, he feels a
slight stab of guilt. He describes his heart as growing sick once Fortunato has silenced, but this he
blames on being in the damp catacombs. His attiude though as he tells the story suggests that he not
only feels no guilt in what he has done, but that he had the right to do

Tomorrow s World And Surrealism
Over the course of a few months, we explored the theme of Tomorrow s World and surrealism. The
topic of Tomorrow s World mainly links into the future, and surrealism highlights the
unpredictability of it, and that was the stimulus for our work.
One example of a stimulus we had to portray was two pieces of art by Banksy. The first picture
showed two walls, one with a CCTV camera on it, and the other, the words what are you looking
at? . The second image was a child on a ladder painting the words one nation under CCTV .
Ironically, a CCTV camera and a policeman are both filming the child as they paint.
In groups, our task was to convey the message of these artworks in short pieces of drama. In my
group, Aidan played a robber and Jess ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He then grabs the phone and runs off stage, and I one of the cameras clicked my fingers and an
alarm sounded, using soundscape to make panicked noises. I then click my fingers again, and the
alarms stop, and Tom walks in. He then begins typical policeman enquiries, asking questions such
as What happened then? and Can you recall what he looked like . Jess, obviously confused
through the use of stuttering and gestures, says I can t remember, I think his hair was . I then cut
in with Blond, 5 foot 7, male . Tom then reacts by writing this on his notebook through mime, but
Jess does not react. This shows how Tom has the control in this situation, and is able to retrieve
information through the cameras, but Jess cannot hear them. As Tom writes, he mutters to himself,
repeating what the camera just said. Jess is obviously curious as to how he knew this, and so asks
herself this out loud. Over the top of a small conversation continuing the policeman s enquiry,
Maddy, the other camera, starts to say Analysing around two or three times. She then states the
name of the robber, to which Tom responds and writes on his notebook. Jess curiosity then takes
over her and she asks how Tom knows all this. Tom then replies with Look around, cameras
everywhere and points all the around the audience. This is when the feeling of guilt or power may
settle into the audience. Tom then continues with a small speech about how he can monitor
anything anyone does, ending

Common Characteristics And Similarities Between Dari And...
Abstract
Dari is the language that my paper will discuss in detail. This language is spoken in Afghanistan
by 5 million people. In this paper I will discuss some characteristics of the frequency adverbs. I
will show examples to prove how these adverbs move in the sentences freely and where they occur.
What was interesting also is that I found similarities between Dari and English. Frequency adverbs
in Dari have common characteristics with English. Both languagesallow adverbs to move in
different position.
1. Introduction
Dari is a spoken language in Afghanistan. It is a SOV language. For this paper I choose to
discuss(frequency adverbs). An adverb is a word that modifiesthe manners of verbs. There are
many kinds of adverbs such as manner, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aksar
2. Aksarwagt: in this case, people addsuffixwagt which means (time) to refer to a specific time.
It is not important to add or delete the suffix wagt. If it is added it will not change themeaning in
a speech it only tells what is the time in a very specific way. If it is deleted people will know that
you are talking about time but not in certainty.
4. Conclusion :
In Dari, adverbs like (Frequently, always, sometimes and usually) occurs in 3 positions: before
verb, after verb and at the begging of a sentence.
Adverb like usually has 2 ways in written form: aksar before verb and aksarwagt if the position is
changed.
Adjectives can be described as adverbs by adding the prefix ba, and they will always occur before
verbs.
To conclude this paper, Dari is an interesting and simple language. Frequency adverbs are
interesting because they describe the time of any event. Their Frequency adverbs are flexible and
they move easily in the sentences. They occur in the beginning of the sentence, before or after a
verb. They do not make any changes to the meaning.

Prophetic Vision in Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene Essay
Prophetic Vision in Edmund Spenser s The Faerie Queene
In the First Book of The Faerie Queene, Edmund Spenser reveals his prophetic and apocalyptic
vision for the fledgling British Empire, personified in his hero Redcrosse. As the secular instrument
of Gloriana, the Faerie Queene, Redcrosse takes on the sacred task of Una (representing religious
truth) to free her parents, Adam and Eve, from their bonds of sin. Before he can achieve his task,
the Redcrosse knight (representing holiness) must mature as a Christian knight as he and Una
encounter inhabitants of Faerie Land and interact with them. With his allegory, Spenserunveils the
secular and sacred obligations of Queen Elizabeth and her courtiers as they lead Protestant England

After Redcrosse strangles religious Error at Una s urging and kills the monster with his sword,
Spenser separates Redcrosse and Una by way of Archimago s wicked machinations. Una cycles
through a sequence of traveling companions: a lion, Archimago as false Redcrosse (the Roman
Catholic Church), Sans Loy (a Muslim), satyrs, Satyrane, and Prince Arthur. Spenser implies that
participants of each religion, no matter how primitive, believe its truths are divine. In her latest
incarnation of supreme religious truth, Una needs Gloriana s knight to defeat the dragon of sin, to
obtain Christ s redemption for Adam and Eve and their descendants. While England amasses vast
wealth conquering and colonizing the primitive races, the real battle is not against flesh and blood,
but as Paul stated in his letter to the Ephesians, against principalities (Saracens), powers (Lucifera),
rulers of darkness (Error and Despair) and spiritual wickedness in high places (mythological or
primitive gods demons).
When Redcrosse finally attains sufficient holiness to fight the old serpent (the dragon Satan) of
Revelations, Contemplation takes him to look on the New Jerusalem. Like Jesus, Redcrosse is an
historical human being (Saint George). Unlike the imaginary characters of the poem, Redcrosse is
entitled to everlasting life provided his name is written in the book of life, as stated in

Data Desscription for the St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank...
In the research, data was extracted from FRED which is the database of the St Louis Federal
Reserve Bank and Bloomberg. Ordinary least squares (OLS) analysis was used in order to
perform the regressions needed to calculate the results. The data was taken exclusively on a
domestic level although quantitative easing was implemented abroad as well by the Bank of
Japan in 1999.The data was chosen solely from the United States due to easier access to the data
and the focus of the research to analyze United States economic affairs. The dependent variables
are 5 year Treasury bill, 10 year Treasury bill, 15 year fixed mortgage rate average in the United
States, and 30 Year Fixed Rate Mortgage Average in the United States. The data helps to explain
how the different rounds of quantitative easing affected mortgage rates and how it will affect the
long term treasury yields. Fixed mortgage rates were chosen since long term rate are the most
common and the most highly targeted by the fed. The treasury bills were chosen in order to
compare to the mortgage rate since it is known that a large portion of QE was targeting the long
term mortgage rates as opposed to short term treasury bills, so we wanted to display the difference
between the two.
The independent variables are the following: Money supply (M2), monetary base, fed funds rate
(FFR), consumer price index (CPI), expected Inflation (Mich), mortgage backed securities (MBS),
Treasury securities, Baa, Aaa,baa10y, safety spread, QE1,

The ICRC Fundamental principles of the Red Cross s purpose is to respond to the suffering and
needs of individuals. The Red cross has developed seven principles: 1. Humanity: is to bring
assistance without being discriminate of others. The purpose of this principle is to reduce and ease
the suffering a humanobtains. It protects the life and health of a human and it develops the
understanding between friends makes peace with people. 2. Impartiality: It does not discriminate
against any race or religion or opinions. It also attempts to reduce the sufferingthe individuals obtain
by looking at the needs they have and helping them with stressful situations. 3. Neutrality: You must
not take any sides when hostile conflicts happen and you must not become involved in political
and religious disputes. 4. Interdependence: When you act in ways with movement principles. They
have to maintain and be free from the control from self governments. The last three principles are

one country and it is open to the public. It also needs to continue the humanitarian work across its
region. An example of Universality is all populations are equal and have equal tasks when their

One Flew Over The Cuckoo s Nest By Ken Kesey
In Ken Kesey s book, One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest, there were two main characters that were
in a battle to have the majority of control over the ward. Throughout the story, they engaged in
different acts of stubbornness to see who could display the most power and which of the two could
stand their ground the longest without giving in to the other. These two characters were: Randle
McMurphy, a new patient who was determined to change the ways of the ward, and Nurse
Ratched, the head nurse of the asylum who preferred to have complete control over everyone and
everything.
Even though both characters go about gaining power in different ways, they are still both doing

He says, Just as I said: any of you sharpies here willing to take my five bucks that says that I can
get the best of that woman, before the week s up, without her getting the best of me? (73) This
quote shows that McMurphy is very self assured that he can accomplish what he sets his mind to.
The ward was not used to this kind of behavior in a man. Most of the men that were already there
needed to be there because of an actual insanity problem, but McMurphy was there because he
would rather have been there than where he was before and the court had allowed him to be
transferred. McMurphy took them completely by surprise with his resistance to follow their
instructions and to do what he was expected to do. At his arrival, he immediately exhibited
disobedience. He refused to take a shower, which was the asylum s policy for new admissions.
This instantly put Randle McMurphy under the staff s radar for them to watch out for. Nurse
Ratched (also known as Big Nurse) was used to being forceful to get what she wanted. She
stopped at no end to have complete oversight over the men in the ward. When the men were in the
nurse s presence they were either saying what they knew she wanted to hear or cleaning something
that she ordered them to clean. They knew not to speak out against her and to not say something
that would make you stand out too much. Ratched s tactics to get them to be fit for society were
normally some kind of procedure on the man

Tl 500 Research Paper
he TL500 Samsung Digital Camera Top Notch Low Light Photography in a Small Package
Photography magazines first spied the Samsung TL500 in the Photography Marketing
Association trade show in Anaheim earlier this year. Since then, it s become the top seller on
Amazon and B H, and the many qualities of this model intrigued me, photography lover that I
am. I have been using one for over a month now, composing shots and shooting everything that
comes before me, and I have to admit that experience has been quite special. Let me get in deeper
and try to explain why this Samsung digital camera is a winner. The asking price for the TL 500
is $410 at Amazon and other major online retailers. Anyone who pays attention to camera specs,
will recognize that this Samsung digital camera uses the exact same size of sensor 1/1.7 as
Canon s well respected S90, and the same minimum aperture size of 2.0 too. What this means for
me is, that I ll never have to worry about low light photography ever again. And I especially like
the way the lens is an ultra wide 24mm. Who would believe that the TL 500 s maximum aperture
size was a ludicrous F/1.8?... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I happen to like the image stabilization technology on some of the better Samsung digital camera
models, and this one is no exception. Samsung is a world leader in imaging technology with its
large flat screens and laser printing solutions; and Samsung pulls off another great demonstration of
its imaging chops here in not just the quality of its stability and its shots but also in the way you
get to compose and frame your pictures on the huge bright, AMOLED display. And I especially like
the flexibility in screen positioning they give you with swivel and tilt. The TL500 brings you the
full complement of enthusiast options in setting aperture priority, shutter priority and all kinds of

My Major
My Major I have chosen pre Dentistry. I hope to become an Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon. This
is one of the more competitive fields that there are in dentistry today. With this I hope to take
join my dad in his practice. There are many classes and degrees that a person must complete
before he can become an Oral Surgeon. I think that this would be a challenge. School will be
tough, but in the end the rewards are endless. After college an Oral Surgeon must attend dental
school, then they must go to five year residency for after that. This is a great career, and I think
that I could make it if I tried hard enough. An Oral and Maxiofacial surgeon is the person that you
would go to to get your wisdom teeth extracted. That is not... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An Oral Surgeon must be patient, just to get through all of the school. Also, during residency,
there are many times that they will have to stay in the hospital for up to 48 hours straight. Then
when they get called into the emergency room, they have to go through the sterilizing process
called scrubs after that they have to sit in side a sterilized room until the patient is prepped for
surgery. They are also going to need people skills. The entire patient is not going to friendly and
polite to the doctor, so the need to be able to react to that person in a professional way. If they are
in the hospital, doctors are not allowed to refuse treatment. If the are in their private office the
can tell the patient to leave, but this is not always the best option, how many patients can you
tell to leave, they are you source of income. They also need to be confident so they are not
second guessing themselves in the middle of the surgery. Doctors must also have the physical
skills. They need to have steady hands, without these the doctor probably could not have a
career. Doctors work in small places that allow little or no room for error. If the do not have
steady hand, they could slip and cut something that should not be cut. I am not sure exactly how I
got interested in this major. I have watched my dad operate on people since I was little and it
always fascinated me. I thought that it was amazing how a person could be rushed in to the

Comparison Of Mcdonald s V. Stella Liebeck Case
The details in the McDonald s v. Stella Liebeck case are very similar to the details of the case in
Class Action. However, the legal knowledge surrounding the cases were different. For example, in
Class Action the company Argo knowingly put out a defective car because it was more financially
convenient to pay for settlements than it would have been to recall every single vehicleand fix them.
Similarly, McDonald s was aware that their coffee was held at very hot temperature standards that
were extremely dangerous to their unknowing customers. McDonald s argued on the basis that
consumers preferred hot coffee so it was good for profit (Haltom, McCann 2004). A McDonald s
safety consultant testified that they received 700 complaints of burns... Show more content on

Additionally, one of the plaintiff s had family members die because of the defective car. They both
had reasonable claims to sue so they both filed a lawsuit against two powerful corporations.
There were differences in the way the case and the prosecution and defendants lawyers were
portrayed in the film and in the McDonald s vs. Liebeck case. Stella Liebeck s case was
portrayed as acquisitive and soon was manipulated to represent the flaws in the civil justice
system. The media reconstructed her case into fragmented bits and transformed it to symbolize
the lawsuit crisis (Haltom, McCann 2004). The media left out a great amount of crucial
information and evidence that was critical to the decision making of the jury (Haltom, McCann
2004). In fact, mass media stressed the amount of money Liebeck was awarded by the jury, and
failed to mention that Liebeck actually received less than 1/5th of what the jury mandated
(Haltom, McCann 2004). They also failed to mention the severity of Liebeck s burns and the
extreme heat of the coffee as well as McDonald s complete disregard for consumer safety
(Haltom, McCann 2004). Most general knowledge surrounding the case is false and in favor of
McDonald s perspective.
In Class Action, the plaintiff s attorney was depicted as a civil rights attorney whose main focus
was not to make money. Rather, he was more interested in attacking the establishment and
defending victims who were

  • 2. Alice Paul Thesis Suffragist Alice Paul got transferred out of the psychopathic ward of Washington, and being force fed. During her toil Alice Paul said, Why not let this miserable creature starve. The country would be much better off without her and the balance of her gang of pickets. (Dismore 1). Alice Paul went on this immense hunger strike for her six companions. She wanted to give her six companions better food. She threatened to kill herself of starvation. She was very determined, she was force fed multiple times, but she cared so much for her companion that she didn t give up. Amidst her hunger strike she and her companions were put into solitary confinement inside a tiny cell with boarded up windows. All this shows Alice Paul will never give up and she spoke with her actions not her words. Reason 2 Throughout her life Alice Paul fought hard against president Woodrow Wilson. She put up banners. Did silent protesting in front of the White House. Throughout this she endured mant many things. She endured many things. She had to stay in one house for 2 days due to public outrage when she showed a Kaiser Wilson banner to a Russian person going into the White House. In Alice Paul it says, They returned every day, in good weather and bad,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She did countless things to pass an amendment which would grant the women their wish of being able to have their rights. Including a hunger strike, a silent protest, and she even endured force feeding. In Alice Paul it says, For five months the White House siege continued; while Congress refused to act without word from the president. (William and Mary Lavender 4). This shows the frustration that she had to go through, and how much the government seemed stubborn. She never gave up despite knowing the fact that president Wilson wouldn t budge. In the end she was able to convince president Wilson. She never even married. If that doesn t show her devotion I don t know what ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. For-Profit Colleges Essay There are several characteristics of for profit colleges that make them vastly different from two year community colleges or four year state or private universities. The first major difference is that for profit colleges are run more like a corporation than traditional colleges. This allows them to hire professors on short term contracts, without requiring them to gain tenure. This practice is beneficial to for profit colleges because if the professor s statistics are horrible, he or she could be let go of sooner without having to go through a review board process, the collegecould simply not renew their contract. Another difference from tradition colleges is that classes can start at for profit schools more often and classes can continue all year. This is due to the fact that most of the student body at for profits schools are online students who may be located thousands of miles away from the base campus. Another major difference of for profit colleges is that new courses can be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means that in order to have a decent job, you usually need some type of degree or training beyond a high school education. Unfortunately, in years to come, this trend toward for profit colleges could devastate our nation s economy. The student loan debt in the US is roughly equal to the amount of US credit card debt, they is a frightening fact because for profit student are more likely to default on their loans (they make up 44% of all student debt defaults), which could burst our student debt bubble. This would have devastating consequences for our government, tax payers, and possibly even the global economy. If our student debt bubble were to burst, like the housing bubble back in 2007 2009, it would have the potential to plunge us into another Great Depression. That, is ... Although many believe that gun control will violate their rights, the idea of stricter gun control laws can help communities. We live in very violent times. There are daily accounts reported in the media about shootings. We do well to ask, Is there a solution to this growing crisis? Yes! It is call gun control. The lack of stricter gun control has damaged our communities. How so? Well, in order to answer that question, first we have to understand what makes up a community. Then we will explore the history of our gun control laws.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many people are familiar with the second amendment. However, this amendment has been interpreted many different ways to fit the wants of this society. It has been used and several times by the Supreme Court and politicians. But we need to examine the second amendment closely. Many people fail to mention or read the small print. The second amendment was ratified in 1791. The second amendment states: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed This has been distorted so many ways. This amendment is also dated. We have to keep in mind that our society has changed since this amendment has been written. This was made around the time of the Revolutionary War. During that time all males citizens were required to own guns because they were fighting against the British forces. Virginia has the best interpretation of the second amendment. Before the Declaration of Independence, Virginia was the first colony to adopt a state constitution. They stated that the second amendment as follows: A well regulated Militia, composed of the body of the people trained to arms, is the proper, natural, and safe defense of a free state Today there is no need to protect ourselves from government take over. We handed them ourselves our lives our education. They control the way we live and raise our children among a lot of other things weather we agree with their input or not. There ... • 5. We Must Stop The Privacy Of Service From Someone Misusing... Terms and conditions are something we encounter daily, yet we do not give a second thought. They are a legally binding document that tells us what rules we must follow if we want to use a service. The terms and conditions are used to protect the provider of that service from someone misusing the service. Most of the time they are reasonable but in some occasions they include conditions we would never agree to. For example, we give a service like Facebook the right to store information about our personal lives when we use it but we also unknowingly give Facebook the right to use the information for other purposes. Some people who use Facebook may not know that their personal information is actually being sold to other companies and used for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We can then use that information to make a conclusion. For example, there was a connection between certain search terms in Google and the spread of the flu. If the certain terms were searched then it was likely that the flu had spread to the area where the search was made (Big Data 2). Using this information we were able to administer treatments to targeted areas and prevent the spread of the flu. What new technology allows us to do is process data in a huge scale. It will take data and find correlations between data points. We can then use this correlation and form conclusions that will help us make decisions. In theory, this practice is beneficial but it will undoubtedly have side effects. If big data was to be widely implemented into society then companies will use any source of information and use it without any prejudice. Any information that big data can get its hand on will most likely be used no matter how sensitive it is. With big data, society will have preconceived ideas about an individual based on the correlation of the individual s characteristic and other people who have the same characteristics. The article They re Watching You at Work highlights an instance when the language and behavior of programmers was used to evaluate their skill. The study found a correlation between using certain phrases and words with writing good code. So then by looking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Common Core State Standards Act Common Core State Standards Common Core State Standards is being heard throughout the education world. Many cringe when the words are spoken and many fight to support what the words stand for. Common Core was introduced in 2009 by state leaders. Common Core State Standards were developed to prepare children for the business world or the reality after grade school . The Common Core is a set of high quality academic standards in mathematics and English language arts/literacy, also known as ELA (About the Standards, n.d.). The goals for the standards outline what students should know before leaving his or her current grade level. The standards were created to ensure that all students graduate from high schoolwith the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in college, career, and life, regardless of where they live (About the Standards, n.d.). This is an ambitious goal, but with much support can be accomplished. According to Common Core State Standards Initiative (n.d.) The Common Core has been adopted by forty two states already and is accompanied by District of Columbia and Department of Defense EducationActivity. Common Core was developed to improve the academics in society s schools. Academics in the past years have not been successful and the United States has fallen behind international education. One root cause has been an uneven patchwork of academic standards that vary from state to state and do not agree on what students should know and be able to do at each ... Jumping is a powerful movement and it must be trained using exercises which require a high power output. In a previous article, I had described the importance of strength in vertical jump training development. A well developed strength program supplies the necessary force application in the power equation. Now it is time to discuss how to apply velocity to the power equation. Performing movements at a high velocity is the goal when designing power based exercises along with a second goal of focusing on maximum effort with each repetition. There are two major types of power exercises, those which involve more than body weight resistance and those utilizing only body weight. This article will discuss the application of performing power exercises which incorporate an added resistance through weight training. The Immigration and Naturalization Service, or the INS, concluded that the United States is currently a place to call home for a population of approximately twelve million illegal immigrants (Hayes 16). An American who has never been to Mexico, for example, may wonder why these people risk their lives to live in the United States. Employers are able to make money because production is fast and cheap for them. The Pew Hispanic Center concluded in 2001 classified an estimated 5.3 million workers in the U.S. as unauthorized workers in the labor force. These jobs include 700,000 restaurant workers, 250,000 household workers, and 620,000 construction workers (Murphy). This is a whole lot of cheap labor, and without it the U.S. would suffer. If 620,000 construction workers were gone, home improvement projects across the nation would quickly be hard to find. With a large number of these immigrants also earning wages working on farms, Americans would find much of their produce rotting in fields due to the lack of workers (Murphy 2). The positive effect of these immigrants on the nation s labor force is well supported by Americans; however, the opinion of those rejecting these workers is accepted and taken into account as well. The main argument of Americans rejecting the idea of immigration is supported by the rising unemployment rate in America. There are hundreds of American natives who are unemployed. Unlike other countries where dictators and monarchs make decisions on behalf of the people, Americans get the right to decide who runs the country and what laws should govern citizens. But even though voting is an important privilege, most Americans simply don t vote, and some of their reasons may surprise you. Here are seven common reasons most Americans don t vote. 1.They think their vote won t count Many Americans don t vote because they think their vote doesn t count. But in reality, voting lines are seldom long, even for high profile presidential races. With the advent of new technology, voting is becoming easier and more efficient than ever before, and this allows voters to get in and out without having to wait in long lines. This excuse is becoming less and less relevant as time goes on. 6.Don t like the candidates Politicians are sometimes easy to dislike. Their flaws are often aired publicly for the entire world to see, and many people generally distrust politicians based on this information. But even if you don t particularly like any of the candidates, do you really know them? And should it matter whether you like them or not? Perhaps a politician s stance on issues important to you is more important than whether or not they are likeable. Even if it s choosing the lesser of two or more evils in your eyes, voting is still an important way for you to voice your opinion about the subjects you care about most. 5.Can t get to the polls Getting to polling locations can be a hassle, especially for the disabled, the sick, and people without transportation. Some of the foundational Catholic beliefs revolve around the ideals that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that the Bible is the inspired, error free, revealed Word of God, and the existence of the Holy Trinity, which is one God in three persons. Evangelicals believe that they are justified or saved by faith alone, not by good works. Good works are not ignored and you will be rewarded in heaven for them but that is not what saves you in the eyes of an evangelical. Contrary to this belief Catholic hold to the ideal of baptism being the removal of sins and in turn God grants grace to those that are baptized. The grace given by God is then used to produce good works. Evangelicals believe and practice baptism however unlike Catholic they only practice adult baptism. Catholics practice infant baptism, which is an un biblically supported custom. Purgatory is another custom evangelicals reject. Catholics profess that there are two types of punishment, a temporary and eternal. Purgatory is pretty much a holding place for people that have only committed certain kinds of sins. Eight Legged Creepy Flies Research Paper The Origin of Eight Legged Creepy Crawlies The tragic tale of how spiders came into existence began with a young girl named Arachne; naive, prideful and a bit too talented. Arachne challenged Athena, the goddess of weaving. In some versions of the myth Arachne directly declared her superiority to the goddess and challenged Athena, and in other versions, her sheer skill challenged the goddess. A contest followed, and although Arachne s weaving was better than Athena s, it was disrespectful and showed a disgraceful vision of the gods. Weaving the gods in a bad light was a tragic mistake for Arachne, and she paid for the transgression with her human life. Athena in a rage decided to allow Arachne to weave forever and turned her into a spider, or, scientifically known as an arachnid (Hamilton 302 303). As the myth above explains, Arachne was the first spider, so the species took her name: Arachnid. Contrary to common knowledge, spiders are not the only arachnids in existence, although they are the most significant order in that class.
