The NCAA relies heavily on the success of college sports programs and athletes to generate billions in revenue each year. However, college athletes are not fairly compensated for their contributions and are subject to exploitative rules. They spend most of their time focused on their sport with little time for academics or employment, yet are not paid beyond scholarships. Injuries are also common but schools are not obligated to continue aid for injured athletes. Overall reforms are needed to better support the health, well-being and financial security of college athletes.
