This document provides guidance on starting e-learning in a company without needing to develop custom content. It recommends e-learning be considered if the company has more than 50 employees, attrition over 10%, a geographically dispersed workforce, or customer-facing employees. E-learning can increase reach, speed, and effectiveness of learning while lowering costs. The document advises starting with conceptual, procedural, immediate, and repetitive topics like inductions and compliance training. Common mistakes to avoid include focusing on converting classroom to e-learning rather than just-in-time learning, creating overly complex multimedia modules that are hard to update, and buying an LMS with unnecessary features.

LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
A learning management system (LMS) is a software application for the administration, documentation, tracking, reporting and delivery of educational courses or training programs. They help the instructor deliver material to the students and other assignments, track student progress, and manage record-keeping. LMSs are focused on online learning delivery but support a range of uses, acting as a platform for fully online courses, as well as several hybrid forms, such as blended learning and flipped classrooms. LMSs can be complemented by learning technologies such as a training management system to manage instructor-led training or a Learning Record Store to store and track learning data.

A learning management system is a software package where ease-in-availability of learning resources and management of learners' progress are tracked. Basically, a learning management system provides an instructor with a path to deliver content, monitor participation, and assess learners performance.
This presentation was originally developed for a client in the early stages of selecting an LMS. They currently do very little e-learning, and their classroom training is all managed manually with spreadsheets and email. They maintain a PDF course catalog that is distributed via email every time updates are made. They are looking for ways to improve their processes and expand their offerings, and this presentation provides an introduction to how an LMS can solve some of their problems.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

How to start e learning in your company
1. How to start E-Learning in your company
( without reinventing the wheel )
2. Why should you start E-learning?
Tick the appropriate boxes below
If you have more than 50 employees
If your attrition is more than 10%
If your employees are spread across
geographically
If bulk of your employees are customer facing
If process/compliance is an important part of your
operating model
If you have ticked more than one box you should seriously think of E-learning
3. How does E-Learning make
a difference?
• Apart from the usual operational efficiency that
technology brings, E-Learning could:-
– Change the way your frontline force does sales and
service the customer
– Create a more aware and nimble-footed workforce in
relation to compliance issues
– Align the potential workforce to your history & culture even
before they join your organization
In short, a good E-Learning initiative will transform your talent by
exponentially increasing
reach, speed & effectiveness
of your learning initiatives,
while bringing down the cost.
4. Where do you start in E-learning?
• Ideally one should start in those topics which are
conceptual/procedural , immediate/ short term
and repetitive
– Repeating the same training to different audience like
Induction
– Compliance related training that needs evidence of
completion or certification
– Integral Processes that are frequently changed like
Product Features, Pricing Structures
One should ideally avoid intangible and long run topics like leadership/soft skills
5. Common Mistakes in E-Learning
that you can easily avoid !!!
Asking yourself “How do I convert my classroom training into E-
Learning?” instead of “ How do I create Just-In-Time Learning through
technology?”
Creating multimedia modules for every
training and later paying vendors to make
even small changes in them.
Creating a single ‘Magnum Opus’
multimedia module instead of multiple
smaller easy to complete modules
Buying an LMS with a plethora of
unwanted features which are hardly used
and which makes navigation difficult.
6. • Buy an LMS with simple intuitive interface containing only those features that you
cannot live without.
• Wiki Rules: Why Wikipedia is the biggest E-Learning website in the world
– Rule #1: Effectiveness of Learning Content depends on
• Chunking: Size of the learning bytes (Duration, Complexity etc)
• Timing: Delivering the content as the answer, when the learner is asking the question
– Rule #2: Use simple PPTs and Word documents that your team can easily edit or append.
Complex multimedia modules cannot substitute simple story telling.
• The attention span of the learner is directly proportional to the size of the screen.
Ideal content duration
– Mobile Content: 3-5 mins
– Web/ Laptop Content: 20-30 mins
– Content shown through Projector: 30-60 mins
• Assessment Driven Learning Strategy: Online Assessment is more effective than
Online Content Delivery. The focus should be on completion of assessments, like
CA Exams.
Thumb Rules

Ensuring Business Relevance
Achieving some ‘quick wins’
Top Management’s visible commitment
Ensuring consistent user experience
Measuring and publishing effectiveness
