The Literature Of Climate-Induced Migration
Literature: Climate induced migration is not a new phenomenon that occurred abruptly; it has been an
adaptive strategy followed frequently by different people throughout history to withstand severe
climate conditions. Yet, because of the accumulation of climate hazards, many communities around
the world are highly likely to forcibly flee their lands searching safer zones. In this sense, Climate
induced refugees , is a term that is used to indicate individuals who forcibly flee their homeland
because of climate issues (McAdam, 2012). Although this phenomenon is gradually increasing, it is
still regarded as a marginal or peripheral problem despite its critical outcome. It may appear as merely
environmental; yet, it will generate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Bangladesh as an example, the tidal increase of water threatens citizens lives, pushes them to flee
their homes and undermine their resilience chances (Francis Maguire, 2016). Additionally, the
implications of sea level on coastal environments are predicted to be more critical, resulting in land
loss and abandonment of some islands and atolls with a necessity to relocate the local inhabitants in
other lands (Yotova, 2009). Therefore, it is crucial to consider how the mounting effects of sea level
rise do not solely push communities to abandon their lands, but also threaten their valuable resources
and undermine their resilience attempts. Moreover, The effects of sea level rise are irreversible and
pose in the long run, making migration the only adaptive solution (Piguet Pécoud, 2011). Thus, the
gradual submersion of many countries and island states will lead to a statelessness situation. Namely,
the affected population would suffer from deprivation of its statehood under the absence of a physical
land (McLeman et al., 2015). Furthermore, those ramshackle environments are susceptible to critical
consequences on areas such as tourism, water resources, food and fishing (Ashbindu et al., 2006).
Subsequently, the main concern is how the vulnerable states would cope with the tidal rise of sea level
that swallows their lands gradually as Hastrug Olwig (2012) suggested.

El Puente High School Curriculum
SECTION 2 The curriculum at El Puente High School is designed around our mission and vision
statements and carefully aligned with the Wisconsin Common Core Standards for Math and English
and the Wisconsin State Standards for Science, Social Studies, Art, and Physical Education. Wisconsin
Common Core Literacy Standards are also used across the curriculum. With these essential elements
as a platform, we tailor each class to fit the needs of the students that are currently in their desks each
year. In addition, we as a team use the research of a well known theorists to guide our work in offering
a multi leveled support that our specific student body needs to become contributing members of
society with bright futures. Our program has been incredibly successful in supporting our students on
all levels. Dr. Abraham Maslow used his extensive research regarding human development to create a
hierarchy of needs that describes the stages of human development that each of us needs to meet to
become fully functioning, responsible adults, in other words, becoming the contributing members of
society that our program is committed to producing. Maslow s hierarchy has seven stages that appear
in the form of a pyramid. Essentially we, as humans, all start at the bottom of the pyramid, and each
step up the pyramid represents a major triumph over the challenges ... Show more content on

Cyytoprotective Role Of DJ-1, Mitophagy And Cell Death
DJ 1 protects against mtDNA damage, mitophagy and cell death. DJ 1 is a multifunctional protein that
protects cells from oxidative stress via several molecular processes including regulating gene
transcription, mediating cell signal transduction pathways, stabilizing cytoprotective proteins and
scavenging ROS (3). DJ 1 is expressed in human primary alveolar type II cells (preliminary data) and
we have recently postulated that plays a role in the antioxidant defense system in the lung (REF). The
importance of DJ 1 can be supported by several observations. First, DJ 1 mutations are pathogenic (4),
second, oxidation of cysteine and methionine residues within DJ 1 was reported as a sensor of its
activity (5) and third, the novel oxidized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research Plan
Preliminary Results
Isolation of human primary ATII cells.
We will isolate ATII cells from de identified control organ donors whose lungs were not suitable for
transplantation and donated for medical research through Temple Biobank in collaboration with Dr.
Gerard Criner (Temple University, letter attached) as we previously described (7, 9, 10). For ATII cell
isolation, we used magnetic microbeads (Miltenyi, Biotec Inc.) and epithelial cell adhesion molecule
(Ep CAM) positive selection. Purified ATII cells display about 90% purity as detected by staining with
pro surfactant protein C (proSP C) and ATII280, which are specific ATII cell markers (Fig. 2). In this
grant proposal, we plan to use ATII cells isolated from at least 12 non smoker and 12 smoker control
lung donors and 12 patients with emphysema (GOLD IV). Lung tissue from individuals with this
disease will be obtained in collaboration with Dr. Criner.
DJ 1 Cys106 SO3 in patients with emphysema. Initial proof of concept studies were performed in ATII
cells obtained from patients with emphysema in comparison with control lung donors. We found high
expression of DJ 1 Cys106 SO3 in ATII cells obtained from individuals with this disease using a
specific DJ 1 antibody (AbDSerotec; Fig. 3). The presence of this DJ 1 form was confirmed by mass
spectrometry analysis; and we did not find this modification in control ATII

Public Enemy In The Vietnam War
If you don t live under a rock then you ve probably seen one of the six History of Rap videos by
Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake. This dynamic duo combines rap music from different eras into
one long and equally hilarious montage. Recently there s been much hype about rap music with the
release of Straight Outta Compton in August. This got me wondering where rap really began. The
birthplace of rap began in New York City. Rap was meant to be the life of the party, but nothing
serious. The 15 minute long song Rapper s Delight by the Sugarhill Gang, was the first rap song
released in 1979, the song was meant to be catchy and memorable. The song inspired many other

The king of California rap was Snoop Doggy Dogg. Snoop Dogg from Long Beach, CA quickly rose
to the top of the charts with his singles Who Am I (What s My Name)? and Gin and Juice . The
inspiration of lyrics came from his early defiance of the law, like many artists. Being the symbol of
West Coast gangs, Tupac Shakur was born in Harlem, NY, but grew up in Oakland, CA. Known for
his stage name 2Pac; he released his first album 2Pacalypse Now in 1992. The album did not achieve
any Top Ten hits, but 2Pacalypse Now was praised by critics for its underground feel, which inspired
artists Eminem, Game and Nas. East Coast and West Coast tensions began to build when Notorious
B.I.G came to play. Notorious B.I.G from Brooklyn, NY was the figure for East Coast rap. He and
Tupac were often caught in violent feuds between each other battling over their coast. On September
7, 1996 2Pac was shot four times in his BMW during a drive by shooting. Six days later he died on
September 13, 1996. Many of the media speculated that Notorious B.I.G was behind the murder of
2Pac, but he was working on his second album during 2Pac s death. Six months after Tupac s death,

Compare And Contrast Toddlers And Teenagers
Toddlers and teenagers, when it comes to these two there are both similarities and differences. They
both are similar because they need structure, their moody and emotions, they strive for independence,
and they are always taking risks. There are also some differences between the two because of the way
you have to communicate with them, discipline, and how much attention is needed to each one. When
it comes to the two, all of these differences contribute to ho they grow up. Each child is different in
their own way, and so are the technics of how you interact with them.
Toddlers and teenagers can be so moody and emotional. The reason for this is because toddlers are
still growing, and so is their brain. They can t express how they feel therefore they react in the only
way they know how and that is through emotion. They rely on emotion to communicate. If they are
tired, hungry, sick, and or possibly need to be changed they cry, or become extremely cranky.
Teenagers are moody and emotional because they are going through so much change. Their hormones
are going crazy and they are also in school with a lot of other kids and they tend to act like the people
they are around. They are moody sometimes for no reason.
Independence is what both want. Toddlers strive to do things on their own even though they cannot.
They want to brush their teeth, get dressed, or walk to class alone. Teenagers want independent,
because they are at the age where they will eventually become a young

Family Themes In David Copperfield
We are going to focus on the book David Copperfield out of all that concern the theme of family and
parenting issues, although Dickens s work is known for the transition from childhood to adulthood
theme, we can draw some scenes with the family theme and another theme that wasn t really a matter
in the time when Dickens wrote, the adoption which was added later in the Victorian time. Charles
Dickens also targeted the father figure in his works, how he was viewed and how children dealt with
the absent of a father figure.
Parents are important for the right upbringing of a child, their support and their care shape the child in
what it would be in the future; the way parents behave and talk, their temperament also has an
influence in the upbringing due to the fact that children copy what their parents do most of the times
and a bad influence in going to take them on the wrong path when they grown up.

How Does The Influence Of Hip Hop And Rap Music
Music has come a long way and everybody dances, listens, and sings to what we call music. In the
past few years mainstream music has been overtaken by hip hop and rap music. Although they have
been criticized a lot for its sexual lyrics and violent themes. People feel that that hip hop music has a
focus on sexually based themes and others feel that rap promotes violence against police officers and
innocent citizens. Artists are still making music that promotes neither of these ideas, but more neutral
and family and friendly themes. The last few years music has shown great styles, themes, and personal
taste.
Hip hop is accopinied by usher, Justin Timberlake, and similar artists. Popularity has been boosted in
the last couple of years by names like Kanye West, Jay Z, Outkast, and Eminem. Many of are a
combination of hip hop rap which makes an enjoyable rhythm with rap style lyrics. Kanye West was a
breakthrough artist who helped to revolutionize this style and has become a household name across
the nation. Hip hop is one of the most popular styles in the last decade. Other genres have used the

Attempt To Collect Honey
Walt Disney states, We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and trying new things, because we
are curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths. In 1768, Matt and his family lived all
together in the bustling state of Massachusetts. Matt s father had purchased territory in Maine
knowing that their family would be one of the first settlers. Being the men of the family, only Matt and
his father traveled to Maine to build their new home. Once the log cabin was fashioned, Matt s father

After all the time spent in Maine, Matt craved anything sweet and desired something different from
meat. It was a perfect opportunity to explore other foods that he had not tasted in a while. Matt had
nothing better to do anyway. The cabin was boring. Food was running out. He was lonely. Distracting
himself by confiscating honey was a great way to occupy his time and have a new adventure. The
second reason Matt should attempt to collect honey is for a different diet. Matt did not have many
choices on what food he ate. However, when he seized the honey he would. Eating from one food
group solely contributed to Matt s unbalanced diet. Either he could keep eating fish or he could bring
some balance by adding honey into his diet. Honey would be a delectable treat for Matt, not to
mention a little taste of back home. His stomach would be content with the yummy, yellow honey. The
third reason Matt should attempt to collect honey is for selfish ambitions. Just the thought of honey
made Matt s mouth water like a giant, gushing river. Matt craved the honey. Matt needed the honey.
Matt deserved the honey. At thirteen years old Matt learned how to survive on his own. Not only did

work he had done by himself. He single handedly took care of the house, hunted for food and tried to

Pool Pockets For this problem we were given a modified pool table, in which there are only corner
pockets, no side pockets. We imagine there is a ball starting in the bottom left corner and shooting at a
45 degree angle and bouncing off the side of the table until it rolls into a hole. The question that I am
trying to answer however is if I can predict how many times the ball will hit a wall before landing in a

where the ball would roll and how many rebounds it would take to roll in a pocket for any given
dimension of pool table. I did not however come up with a super formula for the problem but a did

Research Paper On Neephropathy
What is Nephropathy?
Nephropathy is a broad medical used to denote disease or damage of the kidney, which can eventually
result in kidney failure. The primary and most obvious function of the kidney are to excrete any waste
products and to regulate the water and acid base balance of the body.
Neprhopathy is considered a progressive illness; in other words, as kidneys become less and less
effective over time (as disease progresses), the condition of the patient gets worse if left untreated.
Due to that fact, it is pivotal to receive adequate diagnosis and treatment as early as possible.

Nevertheless, no available treatment has been able to halt the progression to end stage renal failure,
thus new therapeutic modalities to manage diabetic nephropathy are needed.
IgA nephropathy
Since its initial description in 1968, IgA nephropathy remains the most common form of primary
glomerulonephritis that can lead to chronic kidney disease. This condition is very commonly observed
in Southern Europe, Australia and Asia, in Northern climates of the Western World the incidence is
approximately 5 10% of biopsies for glomerulonephritis.
The diagnostic hallmark of the disease is the deposition of IgA antibodies in the glomerule, alone or
together with IgM or IgG antibodies. Activation of innate immune response and complement, as well
as the formation of immune complexes play a significant role in clinical presentation and severity of
the IgA nephropathy.
As there is no pathognomonic clinical presentation (although young males with macroscopic
hematuria followin g an upper respiratory tract infection are highly suspicious for the disease), the
diagnosis necessitates renal biopsy. Currently available therapy options are directed towards
inflammatory and immune events that can result in renal

Literature of Japan
Mary Diaz
The Tale of Genji by Murasaki Shikibu deals heavily with Japanese religions and its influence on
Japanese society. Themes of jealousy, responsibility and guilt are also mixed in with the religious
themes. Religions and ideals clash through the course of the novel. Shikibu focused on the two
religions of Buddhism and Shinto. Buddhism represents the modern day religion in the novel and
Shinto is viewed as the old religion. As the novel progress the readers start to see the fusion of the two
religions. Throughout the novel several people such as women and priests live their lives according to
the religion they choose to follow. This work of Japanese literature also includes demons ... Show

The Buddhist priests practice many different rituals and prayers such as the ones for success and
purification. They also practice exorcism which is associated exclusively with Shinto. The two
religions intertwined in Japanese society and in the novel, but the character of Lady Rokujo was faced
with a deep internal struggle due to the fusion of the two religions. Lady Rokujo escorts her daughter
to a Shinto shrine. She begins to feel a sense of guilt and the conflict between two religions manifests
insides her. Rokujo began to view herself as a traitor to the faith of Buddhism due to the fact she
practiced under the beliefs of Shinto at a Shinto shrine. In order for Lady Rokujo to solve this conflict,
she felt she had no other option but to become a nun for the Buddhist religion.
The theme of religion is very important in the novel and the roles of mysterious spirits that can be
found throughout the novel. The character of Lady Rokuju can be used as a prime example for how
spirits contribute to novel s plot and help it progress. Her relationship with Genji goes on a downward
spiral as the novel progress; therefore she begins to have feelings which Genji finds unwanting. She
began to show distasteful feelings such as being ill tempered and difficult to deal with. Genji becomes
annonyed and tries to distance himself from this relationship by forming a new relationship with a
youthful female named Yugao. They soon have a secret affair and Genji is dazzled

Does The Percentage Of Fat Affect The Height Of Ice Cream
How Does the Percentage of Fat in Milk Affect the Height of Ice Cream?
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment was to determine how different types of milk and cream, with different
percentages of fat, affect the height of the resulting ice cream.
Background Information Fats are lipids, which are organic compounds composed of hydrogen,
carbon, and oxygen. Most fat molecules consist of three fatty acid tails and a glycerol. Fatty acid tails
are made of hydrogen and carbon, the way that they are arranged determines the type of fat. There are
two broad categories of fats saturated and unsaturated. Saturated fats contain only single bonds
between carbons, while unsaturated fats contain double or triple bonds. When saturated, they are filled

When the ingredients are mixed together, the fat particles are disturbed and broken apart. Air is
distributed into the mixture and held in place between the fat molecules to create a smooth texture (
The Science of Ice Cream , PhysicsBuzz). At first, these products are close to room temperature,
conversely, the end product is a frozen dessert. To do this, the mixture must be cooled past its freezing
point. The ice is what ultimately freezes the cream. However, since the mixture is not just pure water,
which freezes at 0° Celsius, the freezing point must be cooler. Freezing point depression is a
colligative property where more solute is added to the solvent. In this case, salt is the solute and the
ice/water is the solvent. If the concentration of the solution is increased, consequently, the freezing
point will decrease to be lower than that of the usual. The new change will then allow the ice to absorb
the heat and melt, while transferring the coldness to the ice cream. When the ice constantly comes in
contact with the salt crystals, by stirring, churning, or other methods, it becomes cooler because of the
interaction between them. By lowering the temperature of the ice and salt mixture, the ice cream is
able to harden and take shape because it still freezes at 0° Celsius and it is being cooled down to reach

Theme Of A Worn Path
A Worn Path by Eudora Welty, written in 1941, is a short story about an elder, Negro woman, Phoenix
Jackson, traveling along a well worn path to an unknown destination. As the title suggests, this is a
path that she has taken many times. The main theme represented in A Worn Path is that a person
would endure and overcome the forces of nature and society for those they love.
Eudora Welty introduces the character Phoenix Jackson in a way that illustrates that Phoenix is a
person who endures forces of nature and society; and the meaning of her name is a large hint to the
theme of endurance. William M. Jones introduces the idea that Phoenix is a reference to the legendary
bird that is reborn throughout time; one that endures. In his literary critic, William M. Jones writes,
The references at the beginning of the story announce rather clearly that a comparison with the
legendary bird is intended. The similarity becoming more pronounced as the story progresses. The
reference to the bird of endurance can be seen throughout the story, especially when the reader
concludes that Phoenix does not remember why she is traveling the path. Her loss of memory is a
reference to the Phoenix dying; and at the end of the story, Phoenix remembering her reason for the
journey is a representation of being reborn.
Welty s diction and the time period that the short story was written also gives the reader context into
Phoenix s endurance of the wrath of society. Phoenix is described as an

Saudi Arabia Essays
In the heart of the Middle East is a country known by many Westerners for its oil production and,
often, extremist beliefs of groups within the country. The country is Saudi Arabia, and though it is
thought of by many as a rather backward country, Saudi Arabia has a rich history and culture, and it is
a country that revolves around Islam and the worship of Allah as the one true God.
For about fifteen hundred years, Saudi Arabia s history has centered on one major theme: Islam.
Muhammad, the founder of Islam, was born around 570 A.D. in the city of Mecca. Early in the 7th
century A.D., according to Islamic belief, Muhammad, while meditating in a cave on Mount Hira, was
visited by the angel Gabriel. Gabriel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, in the mid 1700s, Saudi ruler Muhammad ibn Saud, from the Saud dynasty, forged an alliance
with a religious reformer named Muhammad ibn Abd al Wahhab. Ibn Abd al Wahhab was discontent
with the growing disregard for Islamic teachings in Arabia. He taught that the people should return to
strict observance and practice of Islamic laws. Adherents to this belief, called Wahhabis, were backed
by the armies of the Saud dynasty, and together, these forces began a movement. Areas that converted
to Wahhabi beliefs were taken over by the Saud family, thus increasing the size of the Saudi State.
However, by 1891, most Saudi control of Arabia was taken by tribal chiefs and by the Ottoman
Empire. Then, in 1902, a young Saudi leader named Abd al Aziz ibn Saud began to reclaim land that
his ancestors had lost. He also sought diligently to revive the Wahhabi movement, which heavily
emphasized the Islamic beliefs and strict adherence to them. In 1932, Ibn Saud unified the regions he
conquered into one state an Islamic state that he dubbed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Throughout the next fifty years, under the reign of Ibn Saud and his descendents, Saudi Arabia grew
wealthier as a nation, while striving to keep its Islamic values at the same time. In 1982, King Fahd
came to the throne. He sought to maintain Saudi Arabia traditional Islamic values, while he also
strived to create more globally

those are not properly set to handle IPv6. This raises one of the biggest security problem which is

Andrew Jackson And The Indian Removal Act
During Andrew Jackson s presidency, which lasted from 1829 until 1837, he believed in the removal
of the American Indians to help avoid annihilation. During these years, the Indian Removal Act was
passed, and was the first major law within the time frame. This act, passed in 1830, stated that all the
Indian tribes residing east of the Mississippi River needed to pack up and move to the west of the
river, although the relocation was only voluntary. Jackson did this in the hopes that they would give in
to the pressure, considering that he sided with the land hungry citizens eager to take their place. This
was because the Americans wanted to settle in the lands occupied by the Indians, therefore requiring
them to evacuate over one hundred thousand of them. Overall, the passing of this policy affected
Jackson s political and social philosophy.
To begin, Andrew Jackson had been planning for the removal of the Indians even before he took
office. As stated in Document 3, It gives me pleasure to announce to Congress that the benevolent
policy of the Government, steadily pursued for nearly thirty years, in relation to the removal of the
Indians beyond the white settlements is approaching...a happy consummation. During this speech,
more specifically Jackson s Second Annual Message to Congress delivered in 1830, he went on to
inform them of the process and current progress of the Indian removal plan and all the benefits that
went alongside it. He then stated that it put an end to

Fear And Shock Tactics Essay
Fear and Shock Tactics in Advertising
According to the Statistic Brain and Research Institute, the fear of death is second on overall top
phobias. Due to this apparent fear that is shared by so many, we pose the question why advertisers use
this method to persuade, if it imposes distress on so many. This is one example of the use of fear and
shock tactics seen in ads. This tactic is seen primarily in drinking and driving PSA s and

According to Fear Patterns: A New Approach to Designing Road Safety Advertisements, Fear appeals
can evoke the emotion of fear, and also perhaps the emotions of shock or disgust in the viewing
audience with the aim of grabbing the audience s attention and motivating them to act in a
recommended way to avert the threat posed in the advertisement. (266). In other words what this
states, is at times the use of shocking the audience can go too far. This can result in the audience
straying away from this ad, leaving it to be uneffective. In the commercial Never , the outwardness of
a car accident and death in the first five seconds, takes away from the rest of the commercial, which is
the most important part. The video starts out with a couple in a car smiling and looking at each other
looking seemingly more than happy. Right from the start, a moment of intensity occurs. As the couple

Marx vs Weber vs Engels Essay
Capitalism is invariably acknowledged in the study of social science. Amongst the respective gathered
ideals of the esteemed sociologists: Karl Marx, Friedrich Engels, and Max Weber include through
discussion as to the origins of Capitalism, as well as the role and effects it plays upon civilized
societies. Whereas Marx and Engels view of Capitalism fall within similar boundaries, Weber s
opinion of the matter differs in regard to the formers in several ways. In similarity, both parties agree
that history [or sets of historical change(s)] lead to the establishment of Capitalism within social
groups of human beings. However it is in their assessment of the sources of impact on history, which
begins the disparity between the two parties ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The means of production are resources necessary to ensure survival, and the relations of productions
are the very social relations that people enter into within the established economy which benefit
survivability (e.g. forming families). The combination of the means of production and the relations of
production results in the mode of production, or the method by which a society is [currently] run. In
their materialist reading of history, Marx and Engels proclaim that with the necessity for survival
driving history/ and man to the development of social interaction and thus the establishment of the
economy, staged progressions will come forth as a result. To Marx the economy will ultimately be
responsible for all aspects of society. It will be from the development, and circumstance stemming
forth from such development of the economy, that the stages of history will progress. And as such to
Marx and Engels Capitalism will be a stopping point upon this staged progression route of history. In
this way it is concluded that Capitalism is a mode of production stemming from the economy [means
and relations of production], which in itself is a result of the history of materialism [the innate struggle
for survival and the social relations built upon this struggle]. Weber s view towards history is that it is
not a series of staged progressions. As such his view towards Capitalism was not in accordance to
Marx and Engels.

Examples Of Utopia In Fahrenheit 451
Thesis statement: The research studies Utopian and Dystopian literature in Ray Bradbury s Fahrenheit
451 (1953) dealing with censorship, Brainwash, lack of individuality, the impact of technology abuse,
alienation, search for identity, skepticism and media corruption through the techniques of symbolism,
motif, intertextuality, stream of consciousness, flash back, ambiguity and imagery of the senses.
Unless a man is made perfect, the state could never be ideal (Eurich 64). This statement crystallizes
the concept of utopia which comes firstly to refer to an artificially created island on which ideal
society is established (Harvey 160). Moreover, it becomes with More s initiative a fertile means to

It is Thomas More (1477 1535) who has coined the term utopia offering it the title of his book
published in 1516. Utopia in Greek means no place or a good place as it was referred to by More later
on. Utopia has come then to describe a new kind of literature in which the so called technological,
social and scientific progress allows the establishment of flawless societies in unnamed lands or in the
distant future (Sisk 2).
As a new genre of literature, utopian works focus on some major themes such as: the intertwinement
or the juxtaposition between public and private interests. The utopian principles state that the
individual s happiness has as its essential component the happiness of the state. Equality is guaranteed
in the utopian society without any kind of disparity between the rich and the poor. In order to maintain
and implant these principles into people s mind, education should be regulated by the state. There is a
fact about utopian literature which cannot be denied:
Whereas utopia is a manifestation of desire and hope for a better world and unallied order that upsets
the status quo, dystopia delineates the crushing of hope and displacement of desire for the purpose
upholding the status quo. (Varsam

General Anesthetic Essay
General anesthetic is a universal analgesic administered to the body perioperatively during surgical
and medical procedures to alleviate or numb pain (P.Garcia et al. 2010). It works by ceasing sensation,
immobilizing the patient and causing unconsciousness in the individual (Alkire et al. 2008). The exact
mechanism of action of general anesthesia is not entirely known, however, it s theorized that several
underlying mechanisms are responsible for its analgesic effects (B.Antikowiak 2001).
These mechanisms all work to either inhibit excitatory signals or excite inhibitory signals in the CNS
by modulation of several ion channels or by disruption of cell function causing analgesia (P.Garcia et
al. 2010). This is done by alteration of membrane proteins resulting in modulation of Na+ channels

Garcia et al.2010) .By increasing the activity of the GABAA inhibitory receptors by allosteric
modulation through anesthetic binding, there is a greater sensitivity in GABA ion channels and
therefore inhibitory signals, blocking the cessation of pain transmission through the CNS (P.Garcia et
al. 2010).
Correspondingly general anesthetics is also theorized to interact with the ligand gated NMDA
excitatory ion channels resulting in its inhibition (Pleuvry 2008).
This inhibition causes a disruption in excitation signaling by disallowing the polarization of the cell
(Pleuvry 2008).
Furthermore it was also thought that anesthetic could cause alterations in the membrane lipid bilayer
through the fluidization of the phosopholid heads (Weir 2006). This fluidization was said to disrupt
ion channels that transverse through the membrane impairing the ability of the cell to function and

Picasso At The Lapin Agile Essay
Picasso at the Lapin Agile
From the time you enter the Falk Theatre, until the curtain rises and falls on the production of Picasso
at the Lapin Agile, you are in for a treat. The play is an original work by Steve Martin with a running
time of 90minutes, which feels more like 30minutes. Aside from the uncomfortable seating, this
production is nothing short of wonderful. The Theatre has been transformed from a long movie
Theater atmosphere to a quaint surrounding by means of risers that are placed directly on the stage.
The new seating divides the old Theater in half and allows for the actors and the audience to share the
same space. Not only this atmosphere that makes it wonderful but also the performances, the
direction, the design ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the set design, we first see the use of layering, with a large cyclorama that has been painted onto a
piece of scrim to allow for a visual effect at the end of the play. The painting depicts a beautiful scene
of sheep in a meadow in the fog , with a wall to represent the interior of the Lapin Agile containing a
painting of sheep in a meadow in the fog . On each side of this backdrop are doors: the entrance to the
bar and the other the to the bathroom. The emphasis on details can be noticed in the set with the signs
that are posted on either side of the bathroom door, which swings freely when pushed. The door has a
board on it the says OUI and when it is flung in the opposite direction it too says OUI a creative and
pun intended wee wee . This is a subtlety in the stage design that brings the humor away from the
actual text and into an unusual place, the set. Little things like these accentuate my appreciation of the
production as a whole.
The lighting is also something that was exceptionally well done. The designers used a large amount of
light with soft yellow and orange tones to give an overall feeling of warmth to the setting. The day
moves from morning to night with the most drastic change at nightfall where the tones switch to blues
and the star light shine across the cyclorama.
It is perhaps the blocking from the director and the skills of the actors though that makes this
performance so wonderful. The technique of layering was used by both in how

Reflection Of Interning In The Court
In the first two weeks of interning at The District Court of Allahabad under Adv. R.P. Gupta I was
asked to read order VI, VII, VII of the CPC, 1908 to understand the requirements of the Plaint,
Pleading, Written Statement and Counter Claim.
During the visits to the court I learnt that the court is divided according to its jurisdiction where cases
coming from the village are dealt in Civil Judge East Court and the cases from the city are dealt in
Civil Judge west court. Also there is a Parent Court where the cases are dealt irrespective of its
jurisdiction. Further I learnt that a DJ is appointed as the head of the District Court along with him an
ADJ is also appointed who has the supervisory power over the DJ. Also there are CJ (Jr. Div.) and CJ
(Sr. Div.) based on the valuation of the money. During the hours in chamber I learnt about terms
related to Property law and about the measures taken for tiger conservation and harmonizing the rights
of tribal people living in and around tiger reserves. I also learnt about Stridhan and Paitrik Sampat,
about Sec 125 CrPc, Sec 13(1)(i) Hindu Marrige Act and various other provisions from the cases I
read about.
In the last two weeks of my internship due to my supervisors involvement in the upcoming court
elections I was taught to research for the cases in SCC and ADJ. I read various cases dealing with
issues such as Operation Smile , Protection Of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005 , Juvenile
Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act,2000 , about Dowry Death, learnt the difference between
Informant and Claimant and between Visitation Rights and Visitation Order and also about Dying in
Harness Scheme.

Endangering Animals
Endangering Lives of Innocent Animals Will it take the extinction of all the targeted wildlife to end
poaching for good? Poaching is a major threat to many different species of animals. Many subspecies
of animals have already become extinct and many are threatened or endangered. Poaching is not only
morally wrong, but it is illegal as well. Poaching animals is a major issue and it should end entirely
because it endangers the targeted species being hunted, it is harmful to the ecosystem, and it is illegal.
When an animal is killed illegally, it is considered poaching. Poaching is when an animal is killed
because they possess something that is considered valuable, like ivory or a rhinoceros s horn ( 11
Facts 1). Illegal wildlife trade is similar to other illegal trades, including illegal drug and arm trading.
Illegal wildlife trade is often run by dangerous international networks, like the black market. There are
expert traffic monitors who estimated there is hundreds of millions of dollars caught up in animal
poaching ( Illegal Wildlife 1). Habitat loss is a leading cause to why many animal species are
becoming threatened and endangered, but poaching is a close second ( Illegal Wildlife 1). Poaching
and habitat loss work hand and hand to continue to threaten the wildlife today ( Illegal Wildlife 3).
With poaching threatening the wildlife s existence, it affects not only the ecosystem, but it also affects
tourism. Tens of thousands of tourists annually visit

If somebody in the same denominational is being successful, it makes sense to be happy for them
since they are being successful in presenting a similar message. However, it may be saddening
because the small church pastor is attempting to do the same thing, but is failing. Theologically,

following a step by step the process to become holy so that he could obtain glory after death. Becket
becoming Archbishop plays a key role in his martyrdom for below the obvious guise that one must be

himself has said that before he came to be appointed he was not a religious person, yet he ensnares

There is no reason for Becket to return to England since there he is sentenced to trial. France offers
him solace and when asked how he feels about the place and whether or not he is unhappy, he replies,
No, perhaps I am too happy (Becket). Becket knows that by staying in France there will be peace.
Since Becket returns to England, he does not wish for peace. The messenger clears this up by saying,
It is common knowledge that when the Archbishop / Parted from the King, he said to the king, / My
lord, he said, I leave you not as a man / Whom in this life I shall not see again (Eliot 16). To go and
see Henry again would mean that Becket anticipates that he shall die. This explains Becket s later
actions with the knights. They intend to carry him away as a prisoner, yet that will not fit with his
plan. He in turn begins to provoke them, commanding they owe him fealty (Monk). Becket is
characterized as a man who is never surprised and thinks (Becket), so it does not surprise him when

The fault in Of Civil Government is the way the author seems to contradict himself on the natural

Implementing Physical Security As An Access Control Plan
Implementing physical security as an access control plan takes a great effort of planning. Physical
security is the protection and controlled access of personnel, the environment they operate in, which
includes the hardware and what it contains, as well as the rooms and buildings they are located in.
Physical security has three indispensable parts: access to control, observation, and testing. Obstacles
should be set for potential aggressors and physical areas should be bolstered against anything causing
delays, attacks or natural disasters. Such measures can include proper fencing, locks, control access
cards, biometrics that control systems and fire proofing structures. Physical areas should be checked

A clear and concise plan is needed, which will help lessen potential threats. The foundation of
biometric sensors, for instance, iris inspecting or one of a kind finger impression affirmation, can
make even the most formidable intruder think twice about gaining unauthorized access. Now and
again, all that is relied upon to decide the issue is an instrument to give enough time to contact the
authorities. In any case, access control should consist of physical security as well as information
security (Ricardo, 2015).
Consideration should be given to shutting off access to portable workstations, desktops, and servers.
There is great risk for a potential insider threat, such as personnel leaving the workplace undetected
with a portable device tucked under a clothing item. Such circumstances happen extremely often and
more organizations are being compromised. One conceivable situation to fix security is to utilize the
terminal server and a bootable Linux conveyance. Likewise avoided are DHCP (Dynamic Host
Configuration Protocol), anticipating issues with spyware, malware, or infections (Ricardo, 2015).
Security Controls Physical security manages and protects assets as regulatory, specialized, what s
more, physical controls. Control frameworks, interruption discovery frameworks, and evaluating
frameworks are cases of specialized controls. A few examples of regulatory controls are site area,

The Period Of Greek Art
Midterm
Throughout the times in Greek art, Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic periods have changed overtime
from the sculptures in the form, style, and symmetry.
The Archaic period lasted from 700 to 500 BCE and the sculptures haven t yet mastered in sculpting
showing realism. Their style of sculpting was similar to the Egyptians in the way that they made the
bodies of the sculptures rigid with both arms on their sides and with a foot stepped forward (Greek
Archaic Art). By the end of the Archaic period in ca 500 BCE, the sculpture s features started to look
more realistic rather than rigid bodies. The ancient Greeks also had the young, nude male called a
kouros and the young, clothed female called a kore. Of course, later on in the Classical period of
Greek art, females would become nude subjects as well (Greek Archaic Art). There are some
possibilities mentioned by people in why they started to change by showing more musculature and one
of those could be that they started to create a new warfare in the Archaic period. They started to build
hoplite armies and the battles where hoplites were used were really physical which created more
muscle on the army. Being a hoplite meant power and also their ranking in ancient Greek society. The
hoplite fighters were idolized and artisans liked it and attributed it into their works. This idealization
also springs from the Homeric poems being composed at his time, also mentioned in Ancient Greece
and the artists, or perhaps the

Persuasive Essay On Edward Snowden

El Puente High School Curriculum SECTION 2 The curriculum at El Puente High School is designed around our mission and vision statements and carefully aligned with the Wisconsin Common Core Standards for Math and English and the Wisconsin State Standards for Science, Social Studies, Art, and Physical Education. Wisconsin Common Core Literacy Standards are also used across the curriculum. With these essential elements as a platform, we tailor each class to fit the needs of the students that are currently in their desks each year. Our program has been incredibly successful in supporting our students on all levels. DJ 1 is a multifunctional protein that protects cells from oxidative stress via several molecular processes including regulating gene transcription, mediating cell signal transduction pathways, stabilizing cytoprotective proteins and scavenging ROS (3). DJ 1 is expressed in human primary alveolar type II cells (preliminary data) and we have recently postulated that plays a role in the antioxidant defense system in the lung (REF). Neprhopathy is considered a progressive illness; in other words, as kidneys become less and less effective over time (as disease progresses), the condition of the patient gets worse if left untreated. Purpose The purpose of this experiment was to determine how different types of milk and cream, with different percentages of fat, affect the height of the resulting ice cream. Background Information Fats are lipids, which are organic compounds composed of hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen. Most fat molecules consist of three fatty acid tails and a glycerol. When the ingredients are mixed together, the fat particles are disturbed and broken apart. Air is distributed into the mixture and held in place between the fat molecules to create a smooth texture ( The Science of Ice Cream , PhysicsBuzz). At first, these products are close to room temperature, conversely, the end product is a frozen dessert. To do this, the mixture must be cooled past its freezing point. The ice is what ultimately freezes the cream. However, since the mixture is not just pure water, which freezes at 0° Celsius, the freezing point must be cooler. Freezing point depression is a colligative property where more solute is added to the solvent. In this case, salt is the solute and the ice/water is the solvent. If the concentration of the solution is increased, consequently, the freezing point will decrease to be lower than that of the usual. The new change will then allow the ice to absorb the heat and melt, while transferring the coldness to the ice cream. When the ice constantly comes in contact with the salt crystals, by stirring, churning, or other methods, it becomes cooler because of the interaction between them. By lowering the temperature of the ice and salt mixture, the ice cream is able to harden and take shape because it still freezes at 0° Celsius and it is being cooled down to reach that ... As the title suggests, this is a path that she has taken many times. The main theme represented in A Worn Path is that a person would endure and overcome the forces of nature and society for those they love. Eudora Welty introduces the character Phoenix Jackson in a way that illustrates that Phoenix is a person who endures forces of nature and society; and the meaning of her name is a large hint to the theme of endurance. William M. Jones introduces the idea that Phoenix is a reference to the legendary bird that is reborn throughout time; one that endures. In his literary critic, William M. The similarity becoming more pronounced as the story progresses. The reference to the bird of endurance can be seen throughout the story, especially when the reader concludes that Phoenix does not remember why she is traveling the path. Her loss of memory is a reference to the Phoenix dying; and at the end of the story, Phoenix remembering her reason for the journey is a representation of being reborn. The exact mechanism of action of general anesthesia is not entirely known, however, it s theorized that several underlying mechanisms are responsible for its analgesic effects (B.Antikowiak 2001). These mechanisms all work to either inhibit excitatory signals or excite inhibitory signals in the CNS by modulation of several ion channels or by disruption of cell function causing analgesia (P.Garcia et al. 2010). This is done by alteration of membrane proteins resulting in modulation of Na+ channels causing their blockade and activation of K+ channels in the CNS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Garcia et al.2010) .By increasing the activity of the GABAA inhibitory receptors by allosteric modulation through anesthetic binding, there is a greater sensitivity in GABA ion channels and therefore inhibitory signals, blocking the cessation of pain transmission through the CNS (P.Garcia et al. 2010). Correspondingly general anesthetics is also theorized to interact with the ligand gated NMDA excitatory ion channels resulting in its inhibition (Pleuvry 2008). This inhibition causes a disruption in excitation signaling by disallowing the polarization of the cell (Pleuvry 2008). Furthermore it was also thought that anesthetic could cause alterations in the membrane lipid bilayer through the fluidization of the phosopholid heads (Weir 2006). This fluidization was said to disrupt ion channels that transverse through the membrane impairing the ability of the cell to function and therefore impede cells signaling (Weir ... • 24. Picasso At The Lapin Agile Essay Picasso at the Lapin Agile From the time you enter the Falk Theatre, until the curtain rises and falls on the production of Picasso at the Lapin Agile, you are in for a treat. The play is an original work by Steve Martin with a running time of 90minutes, which feels more like 30minutes. Aside from the uncomfortable seating, this production is nothing short of wonderful. The Theatre has been transformed from a long movie Theater atmosphere to a quaint surrounding by means of risers that are placed directly on the stage. The new seating divides the old Theater in half and allows for the actors and the audience to share the same space. Not only this atmosphere that makes it wonderful but also the performances, the direction, the design ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the set design, we first see the use of layering, with a large cyclorama that has been painted onto a piece of scrim to allow for a visual effect at the end of the play. The painting depicts a beautiful scene of sheep in a meadow in the fog , with a wall to represent the interior of the Lapin Agile containing a painting of sheep in a meadow in the fog . On each side of this backdrop are doors: the entrance to the bar and the other the to the bathroom. The emphasis on details can be noticed in the set with the signs that are posted on either side of the bathroom door, which swings freely when pushed. The door has a board on it the says OUI and when it is flung in the opposite direction it too says OUI a creative and pun intended wee wee . This is a subtlety in the stage design that brings the humor away from the actual text and into an unusual place, the set. Little things like these accentuate my appreciation of the production as a whole. The lighting is also something that was exceptionally well done. The designers used a large amount of light with soft yellow and orange tones to give an overall feeling of warmth to the setting. The day moves from morning to night with the most drastic change at nightfall where the tones switch to blues and the star light shine across the cyclorama. It is perhaps the blocking from the director and the skills of the actors though that makes this performance so wonderful. The technique of layering was used by both in how ... Gupta I was asked to read order VI, VII, VII of the CPC, 1908 to understand the requirements of the Plaint, Pleading, Written Statement and Counter Claim. During the visits to the court I learnt that the court is divided according to its jurisdiction where cases coming from the village are dealt in Civil Judge East Court and the cases from the city are dealt in Civil Judge west court. Also there is a Parent Court where the cases are dealt irrespective of its jurisdiction. Further I learnt that a DJ is appointed as the head of the District Court along with him an ADJ is also appointed who has the supervisory power over the DJ. Also there are CJ (Jr. Div.) and CJ (Sr. Div.) based on the valuation of the money. During the hours in chamber I learnt about terms related to Property law and about the measures taken for tiger conservation and harmonizing the rights of tribal people living in and around tiger reserves. I also learnt about Stridhan and Paitrik Sampat, about Sec 125 CrPc, Sec 13(1)(i) Hindu Marrige Act and various other provisions from the cases I read about. Poaching is a major threat to many different species of animals. Many subspecies of animals have already become extinct and many are threatened or endangered. Poaching is not only morally wrong, but it is illegal as well. Poaching animals is a major issue and it should end entirely because it endangers the targeted species being hunted, it is harmful to the ecosystem, and it is illegal. When an animal is killed illegally, it is considered poaching. Poaching is when an animal is killed because they possess something that is considered valuable, like ivory or a rhinoceros s horn ( 11 Facts 1). Illegal wildlife trade is similar to other illegal trades, including illegal drug and arm trading. Illegal wildlife trade is often run by dangerous international networks, like the black market. The Archaic period lasted from 700 to 500 BCE and the sculptures haven t yet mastered in sculpting showing realism. Their style of sculpting was similar to the Egyptians in the way that they made the bodies of the sculptures rigid with both arms on their sides and with a foot stepped forward (Greek Archaic Art). By the end of the Archaic period in ca 500 BCE, the sculpture s features started to look more realistic rather than rigid bodies. The ancient Greeks also had the young, nude male called a kouros and the young, clothed female called a kore. Of course, later on in the Classical period of Greek art, females would become nude subjects as well (Greek Archaic Art). There are some possibilities mentioned by people in why they started to change by showing more musculature and one of those could be that they started to create a new warfare in the Archaic period. They started to build hoplite armies and the battles where hoplites were used were really physical which created more muscle on the army. Being a hoplite meant power and also their ranking in ancient Greek society. The hoplite fighters were idolized and artisans liked it and attributed it into their works.
