How Did Borlaug Contribute To Science
Q1 Contribution to Science
A main figure in the green revolution often being referred to add The Father Of the Green Revolution ,
Norman Ernest Borlaug (born March 25, 1914) was raised on a farm close to Cresco, Iowa, by Henry
and Clara Borlaug. For as long as twenty seven years he has teamed up with Mexican researchers on
issues of wheat change; for the last ten or so of those years he has additionally worked together with
researchers from different parts of the world, particularly from India and Pakistan, in adjusting the
new wheats to new grounds. A varied, practical, objective situated scientist, he acknowledges
techniques and results in a consistent quest for more productive and correct ones. He always stoves to

Due to his work in Mexico and Asia Borlaug s work has earned him the title the man who saved a
billion lives to earn a name like this he obviously did some hard work which effect and helped so
many. Because of the massive numbers of people he helped prevent from starving to death his work is
obviously unbelievably important to the wellbeing and health of the world. If Norman Borlaug didn t
do the hard work regarding GMO that he did the world would be very different. In modern day society
so many foods are genetically modified for example, 92% of all corn is GMO, if Borlaug didn t start
the GMO craze then the world we live in, the food we eat, the way we look and many other things
would be so different. In my opinion without the work of Norman Borlaug our world would be a very
different place and I believe he changed our world for the better and saved the lives of so many

Why Is Leonardo Da Vinci Interested In The Natural World
While looking through the different topics I found myself curious on the work of Leonardo da Vinci
with perspective, light, color, shading in paintings. While investigating this discovery, I learned so
much. Leonardo da Vinci was interested in the natural world, so much that it led him into the field of
optics and astronomy. At first while increasing his understanding he took the theories of the day as
fact, but as he increased his knowledge he started to question what they had originally thought, not
only did he question them, but also his own beliefs on the matter. As his understanding of how optics
worked and the reflections that he observed from the sun on other planets and stars his paintings
themselves began to adapt bringing more life

Forty-Nine Cognitive Tasks
The study used forty nine total animal subjects to test the hypothesis that neotenous characteristics
diminished the dogs ability to perform cognitive tasks. This study was composed of two adult wolves
and seven juvenile wolves were compared with forty adult dogs, German shepherds, who were broken
up into seven groups. Refer to table one for specific procedures for the six tests and for all of the
animal groups participating in the tests (Hiestand 2011). At the time of testing Group I was composed
of two adult wolves and one German shepherd that were all female and approximately one year old.
This group originally also had two sheep guarding dogs and an additional German shepherd, however,

Refer to table one for specific procedures for test one for all of the animal groups participating in this
test (Hiestand 2011). Consult figures one, two, and three in order to gain a better understanding of the
testing arenas used for this test (Hiestand 2011). This test was done mostly to ensure that the animals
would respond in the testing situation and a measure of the dogs learned response from their previous
training. This learned response because of the association of the consequence that comes about due to
the animal s interaction with the object the pulling of the training rope, which should cause a
generalized rope pulling response to other ropes that they are presented with during testing. All of the
animals in this test had at least one correct trial for this test. Refer to table one, which contains a
summary of the procedures for test two as well as a breakdown of the animals in each group in test
one for more clarity. Group I s adult wolves had a nearly one hundred percent success rate, while the
untrained dog within this group only had a success rate of 51.7%. The juvenile wolves of Group II had
a completion rate of 43.5%, and took much longer than the adult wolves to interact with the ropes. The
Shepherds of Groups III VII had a combined completion rate of

This week’s readings investigate the rise of Islamic...
This week s readings investigate the rise of Islamic opposition and civic society groups in Egypt,
Turkey, and Algeria. In an overarching perspective, the readings contend that the failure of the post
colonial states in providing the public goods and services they were responsible for, as well as their
use of Islamist groups in order to crush the leftist opposition, provided political structures of
opportunity that the Islamic groups were able to exploit. In addition, the state hostility to civic society
Islamic opposition groups, gave rise to militant Islamic groups in some cases. The following
paragraphs will provide evidence from the texts to support the above assertions. Mobilizing Islam
describes how the regime used economic and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This sector included private mosques, Islamic voluntary associations, as well is Islamic for profit
commercial enterprises (Wickham, 97). The financing of such associations came mainly through
religious charity, Zakat, and was able to provide, at the local level, public goods and services that the
state failed to provide, such as schooling, day care, and health clinics (Wickham, 99). The regime
tolerated this sector because it did not pose a threat to it, and due to its contribution to social stability
in poor neighborhoods (Wickham, 104). The regime s tolerance toward Islamic groups in the mid
1970s, gave rise to the new generations of Islamists, who would later form part of the leadership of
both militant and reformist sections of the Muslim Brotherhood, as well as other Islamic groups
(Wickham, 117). This indicates that the success of the MB in mobilizing public support was in great
part because they offered an alternative to the state s failure in providing the services it was supposed
to, and not necessarily due to the belief in the political agenda of the MB. The article by Tessler
contends that the support to Islamic groups in Algeria, was cultivated mainly due to the social welfare
functions such groups assumed (Tessler, 113). Islam constituted an alternative political

Functions Of Governmental Public Relations
Governmental public relations have been inspired by Grunig s models of PR and, particularly, by the
concept of symmetrical communication between organizations and publics (Gregory, 2006; Fisher
Horsley, 2007), a concept which, with its relationships with the notion of excellence (Grunig Hunt,
1984; J.E. Grunig L. Grunig, 1992; Grunig, 2001), has constituted the major framework that has
guided public relations scholarship for the past 30 years (Botan Hazleton, 2006). Mutual benefit,
mutual understanding, win win mixed motivated communication, are concepts used to denominate
purposes of organizational public relations.
Whether governments can establish symmetrical relationships with their publics is an issue at stake;
Grunig in cooperation with Jaatinen (1999) acknowledges that his symmetrical model would have to
be adapted to the specific conditions of government communication. But the interest of this approach
is that, in centering the analysis on the establishment of relationships, the understanding of the public
is fundamentally altered; and hence altered is also the understanding (concept and functions) of
government public relations: under this approach government communication is conceived as the
cultivation of long term relationships oriented to mutual understanding rather than being modelled on
short term, vote winning approaches to communication.
If the establishment of long term relationships between an organization and its publics is to inspire the

Asian Body Language
Body Language: A Look at Asian Cultures
Body language is indeed a powerful and useful form of communication with many forms and
interpretations. How one uses body language, and how another interprets it, is one of the most
intriguing parts of any society. The communication patterns of Asian languages serve to reinforce
traditional cultural values and beliefs. Consistent with the primary value of preserving harmony and
face in human relationships, Asian languages utilize communication patterns that promote pleasant
social interaction. These include indirect communication styles; reluctance to criticize or contradict
blatantly; and ability to read others genuine attitudes, opinions, or feelings through nonverbal cues. A

Don t worry about a bit of pushing and shoving in stores or when groups board public buses or trains.
Apologies are neither offered nor expected. Public displays of affection and public contact between
members of the opposite sex are considered inappropriate, whereas hand holding between members of
the same sex is deemed a sign of friendship.
On the public streets of China, spitting and blowing the nose without the benefit of a handkerchief is
fairly common. It used to be regarded as ridding the body of a waste an act of personal hygiene.
However, today it is a sign of low class or uneducated. Throughout Japan and Korea, blowing your
nose in public is considered rude, especially at a meal. The handkerchief is used primarily for wiping
the mouth or drying the hands when leaving the washroom. Paper tissues are used for blowing the
nose and then discarded.
Edward T. Hall, an anthropologist and cross cultural researcher, believes that the United States, like
most other western countries, is a relatively low context culture. In low context cultures, the meaning
of the message is usually clearly encoded in the words themselves. Asian cultures are considered high
context cultures, where the meaning of the message should not be only derived from the words
themselves, but particularly from the context of the situation, and non verbal clues. In Beyond Culture,
Hall describes that Asian students with high context cultures expect more of others than do the

Banning Of Huckleberry Finn Research Paper
Sometimes, however, the buildings, buses, and teachers for the all black schools were lower in quality.
Often, African American children had to travel far to get to their school. This description understates
the loss of care and funding and overall disadvantages that schools meant for African Americans
compared to Caucasian schools. Based on if a school was for colored people there were many
limitations on educational opportunities for African American children during segregation period. In
the McGraw Hill United States History to 1877, Pearson U.S. History; and Discovery United States
History textbooks the publishers allow segregation and slavery to be described as follows: Southerners

States across America have been banning novels that provide the slightest hint of controversy based on
the historical time periods it relates to. For example, Mark Twain s The Adventures of Huckleberry
Finn, Twain s book is one of the most challenged of all time because of its use of the word nigger and
is looked at as racially insensitive, oppressive, and perpetuates racism. (BannedBooksWeek.org). The
irony is that legislators ban the book because of its central theme of slavery and racism but the US
government thought it was okay to allow slavery and racism go on in the nation for hundreds of years
prior. Now they are facing out novels based on the country s attributed wrong and immoral acts
instead of accepting the facts, just to keep citizen away from the facts. The Autobiography of Malcolm
X by himself and Alex Haley was also banned under the pretense of protecting violence and
segregation related themes. The ban was justified because is it assumed that it prevents anti white
crime. However, this book is the life story of a prominent character in history who was also fighting
anti black violence, but the government fails to acknowledge the oppression that African Americans
were subjected to that motivated citizens like Malcolm X. They ban the autobiography yet failed to
admit that no matter the pretense, Malcolm was still a human rights activist and has been called one of
the most influential Americans in recent history. Another novel added to the banned list is To Kill a
Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Lee s ideology has been called profane and racist and promotes the idea
of White supremacy (BannedBooksWeek.org). However, Harper Lee s Pulitzer prize winning novel
proves that hypocritical behavior is alive and well in American governance, hence the censoring and

Essay On Munich Massacre
Resolution of issue: Israeli Jets Punish Syria; Hijack Frees Munich Trio. The Evening Times , 30 Oct.
1972, p. 1.: Assuming a non partisan stance, The Evening Times includes multiple statistics and facts
about the events following the Munich massacre. It reports on the violence in Syria by retrieving
information directly from Syrian sources, but also from Israel, showing no partiality by origin of
source. Correspondingly, there are statements from both a Foreign Minister and a military spokesman,
exhibiting no bias by use of sources. The empathy of the reader is triggered through the statement a

The flags later were lowered to half staff. This quote especially makes clear the distinction from the
centrist perspective, as conservative leaning news sources have a tendency to want to preserve the
goodness and morals of people by adding details of actions that honor the fallen or ensure peace. The
reporter incorporates some bias by repetition, by referencing the efforts of the military force multiple
times and moving away from the concern of morality. However, the language of the article begins
with formality, but gradually becomes very casual, almost losing the attention of the reader as the
words distract from the main points of the report.

unprepared and inadequately trained. Highlighting the police efforts while omitting their lack of
preparedness and training, the newspaper states that [t]he television pictures also showed exploding
flares apparently sent up as police with dogs set out to chase three fleeing terrorists who were later
captured. This omission makes readers more inclined to

How Do Plows Affect Society
Heavy plough accounts for more than 10% of the increase in population density and urbanization
during the high middle ages (Anderson). Plows are a large farming implement with multiple blades
used to cut rows of any type of soil. It can be pulled by a tractor or animals for the purpose to prepare
for planting seeds the coming seasons. In the beginning, plows were never here, people use to have
one making plenty of holes going through the same process. First they would find a strong stick with a
point on it, push it into the ground, drop a seed into the hole, and cover with loose dirt and water.
Although plows have helped society with better time, efficiency, plows makes more of a negative
impact on society because less farmland, multiple machines for one job, and a maximum capacity
increase. Having less farmland it makes a negative impact on society. Farming less pushes a negative
pressure on people to tear down wooden environments. 3.5 billion to 7 billion trees are cut down per

How Much Influence Has A Little Country Have On The Great...
Just how much influence could a little country have on the great United States of America? One may
be surprised. With a size slightly less than twice the size of New Jersey, Switzerland has a lot to offer
for its size (The World Factbook). The country is located in central Europe, north of Italy and east of
France, and shares their temperate climate. This landlocked terrain mostly consists of mountains, with
a central plateau of rolling hills, plains, and large lakes (The World Factbook). Despite their relatively
small size and their centralized location, they have a large influence on the rest of the world.
Specifically to the United States, the Swiss have brought their culture, merchandise, and services to
share with the people of America. Switzerland has a relatively short history. In 1291 A.D., the Swiss
Confederation was founded as a defense alliance between three cantons of modern day Uri, Schwyz,
and Unterwalden (Schelbert). Wars of conquest and arranged alliances grew the confederation
(Schelbert). In 1499, the Confederation gained its independence from the Holy Roman Empire (The
World Factbook). In 1515, the now 13 canton confederation ended their expansion with their defeat in
northern Italy at the battle of Marignano (Schelbert). The Swiss Confederation then started conducting
the practice of armed neutrality (Schelbert). Despite this neutrality, the Protestant Reformation had the
people of the Confederation split into hostile camps and threatened the

Misconceptions About Vaccines
Vaccines are largely debated within today s world. There isn t much debate within the medical
community, but there is debate between the medical community and the general public. There are
some people in the public who have certain misconceptions about vaccines, a couple being that
vaccines cause autism or autoimmune disorders. However, these claims have been studied extensively,
and there is no scientific evidence backing these claims. These misconceptions claim that the vaccines
affect the lymphatic, circulatory, and the immune system. The lymphatic system is the system of
vessels, cells, and organs that carries excess fluids to the bloodstream and filters pathogens from the

The main function of the circulatory system is to keep blood pumping throughout the body, pumping,
on average, 5 liters a minute. Along with pumping blood, the heart pumps waste, nutrients, and
oxygen to other organs. Each artery and vein has a specific function, carrying blood to and from
different parts of the body. The carotid arteries, both external and internal supply blood to the head.
The celiac artery supplies the majority of blood to the trunk, and it is the only artery which allows the
organs it supplies to receive an adequate blood supply. The subclavian arteries are the main arteries of
the upper extremities, but eventually branch off into the axilla, where they fittingly become known as
the axillary arteries. Finally, the second largest artery of the body, the femoral artery, is the main blood
supplier to the lower limbs. The two main veins of the body are the inferior and superior vena cava.
The superior vena cava returns blood to the right atrium from the upper half of the body. The inferior
vena cava does the opposite, carrying blood from the lower half of the body also to the right atrium.
The blood vessels of the circulatory system and the organs of the lymphatic system work in
conjunction in order to maintain homeostasis. The lymphatic system is able to carry excess fluids to
the blood stream, while also filtering pathogens from the blood. 20 liters of plasma

Love In Anne Bradstreet s To My Dear And Loving Husband
People are searching for love throughout their lives reflecting that everything they do must reach a
happy ending and that they can find what they are looking for in order to continue their lives with a
fulfilled desire and power. At this point some of these individuals start a new life with a new partner or
better half, who loves and gives everything that they have to the other partner who is missing.
Unfortunately, some people fail to find their partners or when they do find them, the relationship is not
successful thus causing psychological pain. There is Power that can make two individuals meld into
one, to be looked upon as one both by themselves as well as by others. Anne Bradstreet, in her poem
To My Dear and Loving Husband identifies love and unity between her and her husband during the
Puritan literary period. Bradstreet describes the value of her through her husband s perspective and
how she is both greatly valued and prized. Bradstreet uses the anaphora If ever many times to
persuade the audiences about her love of her husband. Finally, Bradstreet describes the marriage from
the Bible s perspective. Bradstreet describes her deep love of her husband and how this relationship is
very strong, and the overall tone is very romantic If ever two were one, then surely we (1). Bradstreet
further makes her point that they can be one; she mentions the unity between the wife and the husband
and how they are connecting to each other, how the love makes two persons into one If ever man were
loved by wife, then thee (2). Bradstreet lived in the Puritan Colonial literature period which was
generally under strict religious rule. The effects of the literary are instructive and didactic and the style
is written in a straight forward, non creative style. Bradstreet states that marriage is about life partners
respecting each other more than any case of material excellence or riches like gold. At this time period
marriage is a strong commitment and relationship between a man and woman destined to stay forever
I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold (5). Bradstreet clarifies that in our day by day lives we
ought to be cheerful and have faith in God. The poet clarifies that her love is like a river

Advantages And Disadvantages Of RFID And Radio-Frequency...
Intro of RFID
Advantages of RFID
Process of Implementation
Companies that have implemented RFID
RFID or Radio Frequency Identification as the name suggests uses Radio frequency for identification
of a particular object. It is similar to a bar code, scans to retrieve a particular and unique information
for identification. It consists of a chip, capable of carrying a maximum of 2000 bytes of data and an
antenna uses electronic devices (small in size). The major feature of RFID above other electronic
identification mechanisms is that the RFID device need not be precisely positioned wrt the scanner.

2. Retailers can see more immediate benefits when a critical mass of RFID tags are in place.
 Decreased inventory of as much as 5% of total inventory
 Reduced labor costs in stores and warehouses, as much as 7.5% has been estimated
 Reduced stock outs, as high as 7% of revenues
 Reduced shrinkage by theft this is a multi billion dollar issue
 Increased inventory accuracy
 Automated replenishment
 Counterfeit prevention
 Obsolescence prevention
Consumers can also benefit from RFID, but it depends upon how retail unit tagging is carried out. The
most common benefits possible are:
Improved service potentially faster checkout avoiding traditional lines. Users would wave an RFID
enabled card near a reader, instantly completing the purchasing transaction.
Improved availability of items better visibility of products, allows for timely ordering, manufacturing,
distribution, and restocking of goods.

one third of the cases were either due to wrongful accusations or wrong diagnoses with another one

When operating room doors are frequently opened, it makes it difficult for ventilation systems to keep
air borne contaminants out which can cause infections to the patients wounds while being operated on.
The other thing they can do is to always stay ahead of the game with the latest training and
information. OB GYNS should take every opportunity that arises by attending lessons and training
that will help reduce the earlier mentioned risks. They should also not shy away from taking the OB
GYN board review. Some of these lawsuits are pretty bad that it forces some to stop their practices or
simply move to another state to continue with their work. About 12% of Ob GYNs have actually been
found to leave this to become salaried employees which is quite sad. What is clear though is that as
the number decreases, patients in need of their attention end up suffering more. To avoid these matters
from reaching such extreme points, OB GYNs should just follow the above steps to help them stay on

Sole Proprietorship. In comparison and contrast, the liability exposure associated with the various
forms of business organizational structure is important to each business owner; before beginning their
business venture. The sole proprietor does not have to ask for anyone s permission, wait for votes or
meetings, or seek others approval (Seaquist, 2012). For example, a sole proprietorship offers
autonomy and freedom from vicarious liability of co owners. In a sole proprietorship of the Tinker and
Taylor s Home Security Service, it is difficult to limit one s liability. In a sole proprietorship the owner
of the business is liable for all damages incurred and said owners personal assets are not protected
from lawsuit.
The sole proprietor and the business are one in the same with regard to liability. The sole
proprietorship is not recognized as a separate entity from its owner; as a consequence, the debts of the
business are deemed to be the personal debts of the owner, and the sole proprietor has unlimited
personal liability for all the debts, contractual obligations, and legal judgments the business incurs
(Seaquist, 2012).However, just as important as the autonomy, the sole proprietorship permits the

Simplifying the Kosovo Conflict through Media...
In the summer of 1996, hints of violence began to arise from Europe. This time, however, it was not
from Bosnia or Russia, but Yugoslavia. In Yugoslavia, President Slobodan Milosevic was leading an
all out attack on the ethnic Albanians of the country. Rumors of ethnic cleansing and genocide began
to grow as the Serbians sought to drive all Albanians out of their country. By 1998, a full scale war
had erupted between the Albanians and the Serbians as both fought for autonomy of one tiny piece of
land: Kosovo. When NATO finally intervened, press coverage began to intensify. NATO entered the
war on the side of the Albanians, and as a result press coverage immediately shifted to support this
cause. In order to make the conflict ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And last week, as they were leaving, the Serbs torched parts of town, even the local hospital (Cullen

For example, one story in the Atlanta Journal Constitiution reported, The murders in Kosovo can only
be described as genocide. Pregnant women and children have been mutilated and killed, elderly
people shot in the back, for one reason. They are ethnic Albanians living in the Serb controlled
province of Kosovo ( No room for negotiation A10). President Clinton was even quoted in an article
in The Guardian as comparing President Milosevic to Adolph Hitler. In almost all articles written by
NATO countries at this time, the Serbians and Milosevic were depicted as the obvious enemy of the
war. One paper reported, Mr. Milosevic s demagogic, Serbian chauvinist government continues to
repress ethnic Albanians in Kosovo, and most Kosovars still want independence from Yugoslavia (
Hostility and Hope in Kosovo B6). One article even called helpful Serbians Schindlers, nicknamed
after Oskar Schindler, who saved Jews from Nazi slaughter (Milligan 1). By comparing this crisis to
the Holocaust, the media was able to strike the hearts of the people directly. However, through
coverage such as this, the public was left uninformed about much of the reasoning

How To Treat Eczema
You can effectively treat eczema by removing allergens within your environment. These are the
substances which cause your body to react aversely. The overactive immune system will attack your
body cells upon a trigger from the environment. Some of the most common allergens include perfume,
creams and laundry detergent. At the same time you need to check your diet to remove foods that tend
to bring on the allergic reactions. The common foods that can lead to this sort of reaction include eggs,
fish, peanuts, wheat products and milk. Once these are removed then you have a very good chance of
overcoming the allergy.

The highly perfumed products tend to have a reputation for raising the allergy levels to settings that
are just unacceptable. It is advisable to use a moisturizer after bathing in order to keep the skin supple
and healthy. Moreover the products that you use will have a direct influence on the outcomes that you
get in terms of your skin type. Dry skin can make the symptoms of eczema much worse. In severe
cases of eczema it is advisable to use greasy moisturizers such as vegetable shortening and petroleum
jelly.
The use of humidifiers to prevent eczema
Installing a humidifier will go some way in ensuring that you keep your skin moist and healthy. It is
also advisable that you do not engage in too much sunbathing. This opens up the possibility of skin
cancer as well as practically damaging your skin. High heat is very difficult to control and therefore
you need to keep the body cool at all times. Make sure that you have prepared the skin for all the

Character Analysis Of Linda Loman In Arthur Miller s Death...
Encircled by dreams which she does not desire; actions which impinge themselves into her life;
feelings which only have an affect when it is too late for anyone to sympathize with you. This is the
life of Linda Loman in Arthur Miller s Death of a Salesman. Although a relatively minor character in
light of the screenplay s title man, Willy Loman, Linda advances the plot of the story in a fashion
which was wholly necessary. Being the spouse of Mr. Loman lead Linda to exposit much needed
information throughout the play, and this leads to a characterization of the woman herself. She is
Willy s one and only crutch in times where the man seems to become nothing more than a double
amputee. Linda is the character Miller uses to complete his masterpiece, and as such, allows the reader
to fully digest the story of a man who had the common dream of all Americans: the American Dream.
Through it all, Linda stood up to the menial position she is placed within, and retains the courage of
her convictions. Linda Loman serves an integral purpose to Death of a Salesman, in a fashion which is
contradictory to the strength of her character: the meek nature which she displays. The character of
Linda Loman is one whose quiet words speak louder than her actions. As such, her physical actions
cannot define her due to the small part she occupies in Death of a Salesman. Having learned of Happy
s, her son s, true feelings towards her beloved husband, she pours her heart out to him saying, No. You

South Korea s Legal Tradition
The next nation that will be discussed is South Korea, whose legal tradition finds its origins from
Japan, but is now becoming more American in nature due to increased globalization. Korea s legal
tradition was first established 4,300 ago when the Gojoseon dynasty created its own statutory law,
heavily influenced by Confucianism and China s legal system (SpringerLink and Yŏn guwŏn 2). (note
that during the retelling of South Korea s history, the nation will be referred to as Korea until the point
at which it became separated into Northern and Southern territories). Korea maintained this particular
legal tradition, and aspects of a uniquely Korean brand of Confucianism, until the 19th century. In
1894, the internally induced Kabo Reforms aimed to modernize the whole of Korea in terms of legal
and administrative systems, culture, economy, and more ( Emergence of a Modern Society ). The
Kabo Reforms resulted in a legal system that closely resembled Japan s system, which followed a civil
legal tradition that was heavily influenced by Germany. Korea s transformation towards a Japanese
civil law system was further intensified and completed when it became a colony of Japan in 1910.
Following the defeat of Japan during World War Two, Korea gained its independence in 1945, only for
the southern half of the nation to fall under American occupation until 1948, while the northern half
was occupied by Soviet Russia (SpringerLink and Yŏn guwŏn 5). Now dubbed as South Korea, the

Benefits Of Free Babysitting On My Home For Parent ( S )
Introduction I decided that I would like to offer free babysitting in my home for parent(s) that needs a
few hours for a job interview, doctor s appointment or have an emergency. I have been searching
around for an organization to go through, but none exist where I live. There were some you have to go
to their place of work, which I understand but I have no transportation to go that far. So I decided to
do this alone. I started on this assignment on week two of July. I started volunteering to babysit
children from age 5 to 8 years old. I started the portion of my painting assignment this week. One
week is to babysit five kids. They looked like controlled little angels. I started small in this volunteer
assignment. I volunteer to babysit a couple of kids for free. Some couples don t have money for
babysitters or extended family nearby. Some school systems are so attuned to their supervisory, child
care function that they offer after school play groups at a normal fee to take care of children until a
parent gets off work and can take the child home (pg. 435). What was observed during this
experience? I observed a lot from this experience. When I was babysitting the children, they always
wanted to be around me always following me. And one of the five kids drew me three sun s on loose
leaf paper. I was observed while babysitting when the children and I were making cupcakes. Having
the babysit these five kids most afternoons, I ve observed that children are aggravatingly

Sacagawea History
Idaho has a fascinating history. From the state s Native American history and settlers to World War II,
and the states 1900 s disaster, Idaho has an exciting past. Plus Idaho has the best potatoes!
In August 1805, four European white men on horses arrived in what s now the Idaho Montana border.
The men were Captain Meriwether Lewis, John Shields, George Drouillard, and Hugh Mc Nell. All
these people belonged to a group of 59 explorers called the Corps of Discovery. In what is now South
Dakota a Shoshone woman, Sacagawea, became part of the expedition.
Corps of Discovery met a traveling band of Shoshones before they entered Idaho. Sacagawea
recognized their leader, he was her brother who she had not seen in five years. Lewis and Clark were
not successful without Sacagawea. When Sacagawea was little she was kidnapped from her people
and taken to live with the Mandan tribe. Sacagawea married a french trapper. Both Sacagawea and her
husband joined Lewis and Clark s expedition. She was very helpful for talking with native people and
trading.
David Thompson, a Canadian explorer, built a fur trading post on the shores of Lake and Oreille in
1809. Two more posts were built in 1834. One of the forts is called Fort Hall, founded by the
American Nathaniel Wyeth. The other fort is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the miners faced a hard life. Many jobs were dangerous and people earned very little money. Miners
decided to fight for more pay, so they formed a union called the Western Federation of Miners. In
1892, union miners in the Coeur d Alene region went on strike. The strike became so violent that
Governor Frank Steunenberg brought in troops. Governor Frank Steunenberg broke the strike. Many
people hated Steunenberg for what he had done. Many years later on July 3, 1890, Idaho joined the

Cesar Chavez Rhetorical Analysis
Cesar Chavez, a civil rights leader fighting for improving pay and working conditions of farmers,
employs the use of nonviolence resistance in his role as a leader of the United Farm Workers. As a
child, Chavez and his family worked as farmers on a field as migrant workers who were most likely
treated in an unjust manner and thus, he dedicated his life to improving the conditions for all farmers.
To honor Martin Luther King Jr. on the 10th anniversary of his death, Chavez wrote to a religious
magazine that helps people in need about the benefits of nonviolent resistance. Throughout his letter,
Chavez applies rhetorical devices such as pathos, diction, and juxtaposition to persuade and inform
people about how powerful and effective nonviolence techniques can be for civil rights.
Multiple times, throughout the text, Chavez uses pathos to appeal emotionally to his audience. Chavez
builds a connection and empathy with the readers and persuades them to be people who fight for
causes nonviolently. In the sixth paragraph Chaves states that, men and women who are truly
concerned about people are non violent by nature. These people become violent when the deep
concern they have for people is frustrated and when they are faced with seemingly insurmountable
odds. Chavez states that everyone who actually cares about people should be nonviolent, that they
shouldn t have to resort to violence because they don t need it. This quote builds a connection and
causes self reflection for the

Political Changes In Chile
Located between the Andes Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, Chile is a narrow but large country in
south western South America. Chile declared its independence from Spain in 1818 and was stable
throughout the 19th century. During the mid 1900 s, Chile saw a large economic and territorial
increase, however by 1960 they were experiencing extreme political mayhem. This mayhem lasted
through the Cold War and impacted the country of Chile immensely. In 1961, US President John F.
Kennedy helped to establish the Alliance for Progress. This attempted to bring reform and
development to Chile and other Latin American areas. When Salvador Allende came to power he

An Essay About Shark
Have you ever seen a shark s nose as long as Pinocchio s or teeth as scary as Dracula s? Well, I assure
you they re out there. For years, these sharks have lived undetected, and now I expose them and their
very strange lives. The Cookiecutter Shark, Goblin Shark, Japanese Wobbegong, and Prickly Dogfish
Shark have so many interesting characteristics that make them unique.
Do you know what shark has the largest teeth in the world? It s the Cookiecutter Shark! It is called
that because of the cookie shaped wounds that it leaves on the bodies of its prey. They live in warm,
deep waters near islands and equatorial oceans. They stay around 1,000 meters in the day and 300
meters at night. The Cookiecutter Sharks live solitarily unless they need to mate or gang up on larger
prey. Females give birth to 6 to 12 live babies after pregnancy of 12 to 22 months. Babies are able to

They live in very deep waters below 1,300 meters, but come to the surface at night. They live
solitarily like most sharks in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian. It is believed that they are ovoviviparous
which means that their eggs hatch in the body of the mother, and then she gives live birth to them.
Their body is kind of transparent, because these sharks have translucent skin that enables us to see
their blood vessels and other body parts. Basically, to a certain extent, we can actually see through the
skin of these sharks! They have a blade like nose and fang like teeth. The Goblin Shark can be pinkish
grey to bubblegum pink. The odd looking jaw of the Goblin Shark can expand forward to sweep up
prey that passes by. The jaw is filled with small sharp teeth in the front for grabbing fish, and flatter
teeth in the back for grinding up fish bones. Their average length is 5 feet, but the largest length ever
recorded was 12.6 feet. All this information makes up the essence of the Goblin

I Ching And Confucianism
The I Ching, the Book of Change, the foundation of all Chinese religion and science, is an ancient
Chinese divination text that provides influential text in religion, literature, and art. It provided
guidance for moral decision making, based on Taoism and Confucianism. The I Ching can be read as a
microcosm of the universe, explaining how to keep human behavior in unity with the alternating series
of nature. Chinese tradition was divided into Confucianism, the exoteric, and Taoism, the esoteric, but
both see the world and God as a whole, the cosmos. Although different, both religions allowed their
followers to find God in all things, Confucianism through the natural order, and Taoism through the
Tao. Both of these religions encouraged knowledge beyond the physical world and beyond that which
can be known with the senses. Confucianism puts emphasis on relationships and social harmony,
keeping the core humanistic, more focused on problems of ethics and society. It revolves around the
pursuit of unity of the self and the Principle of Heaven, the cosmos, which overrule human efforts.
Confucianism is often called rujiao, meaning the teaching of the ru, which is one who is conversant
with the Heaven, Earth, and humans, the three domains of human knowledge. Then there is ren which
is the collection of all essential human qualities. Confucianism regards the activities of human life as a
manifestation of the sacred, because they are the expression of our mortal

Social Acceptance In College Essay
College Fraternities and Sororities The High Cost of Social Acceptance College students who choose
to join fraternities or sororities do so because of their need for social acceptance. I am personally
against fraternities and sororities. I feel that it is money spent for the purpose of buying friends. There
are many ways to meet interesting people other than devoting all of your time and money to a club in
order to do so. Perhaps the people who join these groups have low self esteem, social anxiety, or feel
that the best way to make friends in college is to pay for them. I find this issue to be interesting
because there are many Greek organizations on campus that are constantly advertising and promoting
themselves. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Non members chose not to join because of numerous reasons. Out of twelve non members, seven
agreed that they would not join due to a lack of money, and six out of those seven said they still would
not join even if they had the funds. Nine of the twelve felt that they would not have enough time to
devote themselves to a fraternity or sorority. What I found to be the most interesting was that ten felt
that the reason people join these organizations are just paying for friendship. The only reason these
non members agreed that it would be a beneficial to join a fraternity or sorority would be for academic
achievements, such as the Honors fraternity, or one that pertained to your major. Twelve members of
fraternities or sororities were also surveyed. Eleven stated that they joined so they can meet new
people and make friends. Only five agreed that they joined so they could help the community. Eight of
the ten felt they needed to join so they would have a place to party and also meet girls. Three felt that
being a member taught you leadership skills. Two joined because they thought it would look good on a
resume. My second method of research was a personal interview. Here, I was able to ask more
questions than on a random survey in the Oak Grove. On the issue of students not having time to
devote themselves to one of the organizations, one non member commented, I know that as a student I

The Four Quartets Poem Analysis
The four quartets
The Four Quartets, a combination of poems from 1935 to 1940. It was Eliot s last great work as a poet
and playwright. All four poems have a steady theme, time. In the four poems Burnt Norton, East
Coker, The Dry Salvages, and Little Gidding all relate to time. He states how it time can never move
fast enough but always to fast when he wants it move slower. He states this this theme in three totally
different settings. Burnt Norton is about air, East Coker being on land. And the Dry Salvages taking
place hypocritically in the water. But, T.S. Eliot uses beliefs, experiences, and circumstances to
convey the importance of time in all of these sections of the poem, The Four Quartets. To begin, his
experiences influenced his writing heavily in this poem. In the Dry Salvages, the fourth stanza is T.S
praying for the people who s occupation deals with the water. T.S refers bank to when he was a kid in
WW1 and prays for the women who had husbands in the Navy during that time. As if time could
never pass by quick enough. He writes Repeat a prayer also on behalf of Women who have seen their
sons and husbands. Setting forth, and not returning back. Figlia de tuo figlio, queen of heaven ( T.S.
Eliot). His experiences as a child heavily influenced that part of the poem and feeds the main theme of
how time can never seen to be on your side. Also a lot of writings include dark, shady, gloomy settings
in the Four Quartets. A lot of this was influenced by his physical

The Use Of Steroids In Professional Sports
Since the beginning of sports athletes have sought a way to get an advantage over their opponents;
Whether it be in ancient rome using berries to give a sight stimulation during competition or today

not leaving anytime soon. Steroid use in sports should be legalized because they will revolutionize the
modern athlete, save thousands of money on drug tests, and no more athletes will lose their careers
over doping scandals. Today the modern athletes are expected to perform at the top level in front of
huge audiences, while most rise to the challenge some feel the need for an extra edge to top off their

The New Term Of School At The Citadel
School at the Citadel was not what he had envisioned or even close to what he would have ever

and that caused quite a few problems. These were separate problems than those that had begun the
first moment he was announced at the first student s gathering to begin the new term of school. Just
sitting in each of his assigned classes with others as his teachers spoke strongly that they saw little use
in trying to teach a student who should be a teacher himself. For them, just the thought of doing so
would be a challenge they may not be up to overcome. This being said over and over again where
many could hear, did very little to give aid to him fitting in with those of his term or even slightly
older. What followed next was even worse. It didn t take long for him to realize why no one would
talk to him or the other person who had traveled with him from their home village did all he could not

History of the Propeller
The aircraft propeller looks like a simple mechanism to the uneducated individual. To the educated, an
aircraft propeller represents the highest sophistication in aerodynamics, mechanical engineering and
structural design. This report will touch on the history of the propeller, from early
pioneers/experiments, advancement during/after the war, all the way up to current applications of the
propeller.
The creation of the propeller can be traced back to Leonardo da Vinci. Da Vinci s helical screw
helicopter is believed to be the ancestor of the air propeller and the helicopter rotor. The first idea of a
propulsive airscrew, however, belongs to J.P. Paucton, a French mathematician. Paucton envisioned a
flying machine that had two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This dilemma made designing the propeller one of the Wright brothers most challenging problems.
Despite the lack of previous information to consult, the brothers were able to learn, through
investigation and trial/error, that large propeller diameters would produce high thrust for a given
power input. The brothers also determined that high torque produced by large, slow turning blades
adversely affected the flying qualities (p factor). On their first aircraft, they utilized 8 ½ ft propellers
installed behind the wind to minimize airflow disturbance, incorporated counter rotating propellers to
eliminate the problems associated with torque, and gained thrust efficiency by reducing the blades
rotational speed using a chain and sprocket transmission. The Wright brother s propeller was 66%
efficient which was much higher that any other propeller of the time. The foundations of a disciplined
approach to propeller design evolved soon thereafter. With the advancements and refinements made
by early inventors, engineers could use those test results to design propellers with better performance
and structural reliability. These advancements led to the development of the first generation of well
designed propellers. One of the first designs was the Integrale , developed by Lucien Chauviere, the
world s first industry standard propeller manufacturer. By 1910, the number of propeller producers
multiplied, and numerous

  • 3. Why Is Leonardo Da Vinci Interested In The Natural World While looking through the different topics I found myself curious on the work of Leonardo da Vinci with perspective, light, color, shading in paintings. While investigating this discovery, I learned so much. Leonardo da Vinci was interested in the natural world, so much that it led him into the field of optics and astronomy. At first while increasing his understanding he took the theories of the day as fact, but as he increased his knowledge he started to question what they had originally thought, not only did he question them, but also his own beliefs on the matter. As his understanding of how optics worked and the reflections that he observed from the sun on other planets and stars his paintings themselves began to adapt bringing more life ... This study was composed of two adult wolves and seven juvenile wolves were compared with forty adult dogs, German shepherds, who were broken up into seven groups. Refer to table one for specific procedures for the six tests and for all of the animal groups participating in the tests (Hiestand 2011). Refer to table one for specific procedures for test one for all of the animal groups participating in this test (Hiestand 2011). Consult figures one, two, and three in order to gain a better understanding of the testing arenas used for this test (Hiestand 2011). This test was done mostly to ensure that the animals would respond in the testing situation and a measure of the dogs learned response from their previous training. This learned response because of the association of the consequence that comes about due to the animal s interaction with the object the pulling of the training rope, which should cause a generalized rope pulling response to other ropes that they are presented with during testing. All of the animals in this test had at least one correct trial for this test. Refer to table one, which contains a summary of the procedures for test two as well as a breakdown of the animals in each group in test one for more clarity. Group I s adult wolves had a nearly one hundred percent success rate, while the untrained dog within this group only had a success rate of 51.7%. • 5. This week’s readings investigate the rise of Islamic... This week s readings investigate the rise of Islamic opposition and civic society groups in Egypt, Turkey, and Algeria. In an overarching perspective, the readings contend that the failure of the post colonial states in providing the public goods and services they were responsible for, as well as their use of Islamist groups in order to crush the leftist opposition, provided political structures of opportunity that the Islamic groups were able to exploit. In addition, the state hostility to civic society Islamic opposition groups, gave rise to militant Islamic groups in some cases. The following paragraphs will provide evidence from the texts to support the above assertions. Mobilizing Islam describes how the regime used economic and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This sector included private mosques, Islamic voluntary associations, as well is Islamic for profit commercial enterprises (Wickham, 97). The financing of such associations came mainly through religious charity, Zakat, and was able to provide, at the local level, public goods and services that the state failed to provide, such as schooling, day care, and health clinics (Wickham, 99). The regime tolerated this sector because it did not pose a threat to it, and due to its contribution to social stability in poor neighborhoods (Wickham, 104). The regime s tolerance toward Islamic groups in the mid 1970s, gave rise to the new generations of Islamists, who would later form part of the leadership of both militant and reformist sections of the Muslim Brotherhood, as well as other Islamic groups (Wickham, 117). This indicates that the success of the MB in mobilizing public support was in great part because they offered an alternative to the state s failure in providing the services it was supposed to, and not necessarily due to the belief in the political agenda of the MB. The article by Tessler contends that the support to Islamic groups in Algeria, was cultivated mainly due to the social welfare functions such groups assumed (Tessler, 113). • 6. Functions Of Governmental Public Relations Governmental public relations have been inspired by Grunig s models of PR and, particularly, by the concept of symmetrical communication between organizations and publics (Gregory, 2006; Fisher Horsley, 2007), a concept which, with its relationships with the notion of excellence (Grunig Hunt, 1984; J.E. Grunig L. Grunig, 1992; Grunig, 2001), has constituted the major framework that has guided public relations scholarship for the past 30 years (Botan Hazleton, 2006). Mutual benefit, mutual understanding, win win mixed motivated communication, are concepts used to denominate purposes of organizational public relations. Whether governments can establish symmetrical relationships with their publics is an issue at stake; Grunig in cooperation with Jaatinen (1999) acknowledges that his symmetrical model would have to be adapted to the specific conditions of government communication. But the interest of this approach is that, in centering the analysis on the establishment of relationships, the understanding of the public is fundamentally altered; and hence altered is also the understanding (concept and functions) of government public relations: under this approach government communication is conceived as the cultivation of long term relationships oriented to mutual understanding rather than being modelled on short term, vote winning approaches to communication. If the establishment of long term relationships between an organization and its publics is to inspire the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How one uses body language, and how another interprets it, is one of the most intriguing parts of any society. The communication patterns of Asian languages serve to reinforce traditional cultural values and beliefs. Consistent with the primary value of preserving harmony and face in human relationships, Asian languages utilize communication patterns that promote pleasant social interaction. Apologies are neither offered nor expected. Public displays of affection and public contact between members of the opposite sex are considered inappropriate, whereas hand holding between members of the same sex is deemed a sign of friendship. On the public streets of China, spitting and blowing the nose without the benefit of a handkerchief is fairly common. It used to be regarded as ridding the body of a waste an act of personal hygiene. However, today it is a sign of low class or uneducated. Throughout Japan and Korea, blowing your nose in public is considered rude, especially at a meal. The handkerchief is used primarily for wiping the mouth or drying the hands when leaving the washroom. Paper tissues are used for blowing the nose and then discarded. Edward T. Hall, an anthropologist and cross cultural researcher, believes that the United States, like most other western countries, is a relatively low context culture. In low context cultures, the meaning of the message is usually clearly encoded in the words themselves. Asian cultures are considered high context cultures, where the meaning of the message should not be only derived from the words themselves, but particularly from the context of the situation, and non verbal clues. Often, African American children had to travel far to get to their school. This description understates the loss of care and funding and overall disadvantages that schools meant for African Americans compared to Caucasian schools. Based on if a school was for colored people there were many limitations on educational opportunities for African American children during segregation period. In the McGraw Hill United States History to 1877, Pearson U.S. History; and Discovery United States History textbooks the publishers allow segregation and slavery to be described as follows: Southerners used states rights to justify secession. States across America have been banning novels that provide the slightest hint of controversy based on the historical time periods it relates to. For example, Mark Twain s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Twain s book is one of the most challenged of all time because of its use of the word nigger and is looked at as racially insensitive, oppressive, and perpetuates racism. (BannedBooksWeek.org). The irony is that legislators ban the book because of its central theme of slavery and racism but the US government thought it was okay to allow slavery and racism go on in the nation for hundreds of years prior. Now they are facing out novels based on the country s attributed wrong and immoral acts instead of accepting the facts, just to keep citizen away from the facts. The Autobiography of Malcolm X by himself and Alex Haley was also banned under the pretense of protecting violence and segregation related themes. The ban was justified because is it assumed that it prevents anti white crime. However, this book is the life story of a prominent character in history who was also fighting anti black violence, but the government fails to acknowledge the oppression that African Americans were subjected to that motivated citizens like Malcolm X. They ban the autobiography yet failed to admit that no matter the pretense, Malcolm was still a human rights activist and has been called one of the most influential Americans in recent history. Another novel added to the banned list is To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. Lee s ideology has been called profane and racist and promotes the idea of White supremacy (BannedBooksWeek.org). The Evening Times , 30 Oct. 1972, p. 1.: Assuming a non partisan stance, The Evening Times includes multiple statistics and facts about the events following the Munich massacre. It reports on the violence in Syria by retrieving information directly from Syrian sources, but also from Israel, showing no partiality by origin of source. Correspondingly, there are statements from both a Foreign Minister and a military spokesman, exhibiting no bias by use of sources. This quote especially makes clear the distinction from the centrist perspective, as conservative leaning news sources have a tendency to want to preserve the goodness and morals of people by adding details of actions that honor the fallen or ensure peace. The reporter incorporates some bias by repetition, by referencing the efforts of the military force multiple times and moving away from the concern of morality. However, the language of the article begins with formality, but gradually becomes very casual, almost losing the attention of the reader as the words distract from the main points of the report. Climax of issue: Shootout Sequence Remains in Doubt. Dallas Morning News, 7 Sept. 1972, phw01.newsbank.com.: Unlike the other two news outlets, this article portrays the Munich police to be heroic and valiant during the attempted rescue of the hostages. The article focuses on what appears to be a well thought out and properly equipped rescue mission, while in all actuality, the police were unprepared and inadequately trained. With a size slightly less than twice the size of New Jersey, Switzerland has a lot to offer for its size (The World Factbook). The country is located in central Europe, north of Italy and east of France, and shares their temperate climate. This landlocked terrain mostly consists of mountains, with a central plateau of rolling hills, plains, and large lakes (The World Factbook). The main function of the circulatory system is to keep blood pumping throughout the body, pumping, on average, 5 liters a minute. Along with pumping blood, the heart pumps waste, nutrients, and oxygen to other organs. Each artery and vein has a specific function, carrying blood to and from different parts of the body. The carotid arteries, both external and internal supply blood to the head. The celiac artery supplies the majority of blood to the trunk, and it is the only artery which allows the organs it supplies to receive an adequate blood supply. The subclavian arteries are the main arteries of the upper extremities, but eventually branch off into the axilla, where they fittingly become known as the axillary arteries. Finally, the second largest artery of the body, the femoral artery, is the main blood supplier to the lower limbs. The two main veins of the body are the inferior and superior vena cava. The superior vena cava returns blood to the right atrium from the upper half of the body. The inferior vena cava does the opposite, carrying blood from the lower half of the body also to the right atrium. South Korea s Legal Tradition The next nation that will be discussed is South Korea, whose legal tradition finds its origins from Japan, but is now becoming more American in nature due to increased globalization. Korea s legal tradition was first established 4,300 ago when the Gojoseon dynasty created its own statutory law, heavily influenced by Confucianism and China s legal system (SpringerLink and Yŏn guwŏn 2). (note that during the retelling of South Korea s history, the nation will be referred to as Korea until the point at which it became separated into Northern and Southern territories). Korea maintained this particular legal tradition, and aspects of a uniquely Korean brand of Confucianism, until the 19th century. In 1894, the internally induced Kabo Reforms aimed to modernize the whole of Korea in terms of legal and administrative systems, culture, economy, and more ( Emergence of a Modern Society ). The Kabo Reforms resulted in a legal system that closely resembled Japan s system, which followed a civil legal tradition that was heavily influenced by Germany. Korea s transformation towards a Japanese civil law system was further intensified and completed when it became a colony of Japan in 1910. Following the defeat of Japan during World War Two, Korea gained its independence in 1945, only for the southern half of the nation to fall under American occupation until 1948, while the northern half was occupied by Soviet Russia (SpringerLink and Yŏn guwŏn 5). All four poems have a steady theme, time. In the four poems Burnt Norton, East Coker, The Dry Salvages, and Little Gidding all relate to time. He states how it time can never move fast enough but always to fast when he wants it move slower. He states this this theme in three totally different settings. Burnt Norton is about air, East Coker being on land. And the Dry Salvages taking place hypocritically in the water. But, T.S. Eliot uses beliefs, experiences, and circumstances to convey the importance of time in all of these sections of the poem, The Four Quartets. To begin, his experiences influenced his writing heavily in this poem. In the Dry Salvages, the fourth stanza is T.S praying for the people who s occupation deals with the water. T.S refers bank to when he was a kid in WW1 and prays for the women who had husbands in the Navy during that time. As if time could never pass by quick enough. While Hank was performing on the radio station he attracted some kids that lived nearby that knew how to play some other instruments. They called themselves the Drifting Cowboys, while Hank was singing and playing guitar in this band his singing voice was as strong as an artists today because since he did have any amplification he had to sing above all of the instruments and this is where he mastered his singing and yodeling without losing control of ... Steroid use in sports should be legalized because they will revolutionize the modern athlete, save thousands of money on drug tests, and no more athletes will lose their careers over doping scandals. Today the modern athletes are expected to perform at the top level in front of huge audiences, while most rise to the challenge some feel the need for an extra edge to top off their performances. • 33. The New Term Of School At The Citadel School at the Citadel was not what he had envisioned or even close to what he would have ever expected. To start this nightmare off with a proper fright, he was smarter than those in all his classes and that caused quite a few problems. These were separate problems than those that had begun the first moment he was announced at the first student s gathering to begin the new term of school. Just sitting in each of his assigned classes with others as his teachers spoke strongly that they saw little use in trying to teach a student who should be a teacher himself. For them, just the thought of doing so would be a challenge they may not be up to overcome. This being said over and over again where many could hear, did very little to give aid to him fitting in with those of his term or even slightly older. What followed next was even worse. It didn t take long for him to realize why no one would talk to him or the other person who had traveled with him from their home village did all he could not to be seen with him. It was only when one girl was spoken too strongly by another not to go anywhere near him or they might lose more than their head being removed is when his blood heated. Transcript Vs Textual Analysis Though I used to believe that test scores and a transcript were what defined me, I learned that they do not actually give an accurate representation of who I am as a student. Transcript information and test scores do not show how I overcame many obstacles to be able to maintain the grades I desired. Throughout my high school years, I experienced many obstacles that tried to hinder my abilities to perform well, but I did not allow them to have that power over me. I live in a house of six where it is loud all the time and I literally mean all the time. There is never silence. I would have a very hard time concentrating when trying to study and finish my homework; it would take me hours to comprehend a single lesson. Despite having to deal with ... • 35. History of the Propeller The aircraft propeller looks like a simple mechanism to the uneducated individual. To the educated, an aircraft propeller represents the highest sophistication in aerodynamics, mechanical engineering and structural design. This report will touch on the history of the propeller, from early pioneers/experiments, advancement during/after the war, all the way up to current applications of the propeller. The creation of the propeller can be traced back to Leonardo da Vinci. Da Vinci s helical screw helicopter is believed to be the ancestor of the air propeller and the helicopter rotor. The first idea of a propulsive airscrew, however, belongs to J.P. Paucton, a French mathematician. Paucton envisioned a flying machine that had two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This dilemma made designing the propeller one of the Wright brothers most challenging problems. Despite the lack of previous information to consult, the brothers were able to learn, through investigation and trial/error, that large propeller diameters would produce high thrust for a given power input. The brothers also determined that high torque produced by large, slow turning blades adversely affected the flying qualities (p factor). On their first aircraft, they utilized 8 ½ ft propellers installed behind the wind to minimize airflow disturbance, incorporated counter rotating propellers to eliminate the problems associated with torque, and gained thrust efficiency by reducing the blades rotational speed using a chain and sprocket transmission. The Wright brother s propeller was 66% efficient which was much higher that any other propeller of the time. The foundations of a disciplined approach to propeller design evolved soon thereafter. With the advancements and refinements made by early inventors, engineers could use those test results to design propellers with better performance and structural reliability. These advancements led to the development of the first generation of well designed propellers. One of the first designs was the Integrale , developed by Lucien Chauviere, the world s first industry standard propeller manufacturer. By 1910, the number of propeller producers multiplied, and numerous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
