Stand-alone UX research generates a lot of data, but without a comparison to other benchmarks, you're often left wondering how your website stacks up in the real world. One of the best ways to put your task scenarios and metrics into context is to see how you compare against the competition.
To provide a meaningful comparison, UserZoom presents MeasuringU's Jeff Sauro, who will provide Best Practices for Benchmarking the Website User Experience.

UXPA 2021: Journey Mapping Tools and Techniques: Research, Design and Action ...UXPA International
Presented by Josh DeLung. Journey mapping is a commonly used methodology in customer experience (CX) research that helps organizations understand different aspects of their relationship with customers. Through research, the hypothesized experience at each touchpoint with a customer is refuted or validated. This effort tells organizations where they are positively influencing customer retention and word-of-mouth or negatively influencing it. Once this is documented (mapped), the organization can more effectively plan actions that will result in a better experience. And by tying key CX metrics to sales or other goals, they can use journey mapping as a tool for uncovering CX investments that have the best return for the organization.
In UX strategy, journey mapping is an effective way to understand which touchpoints intersect with systems that could benefit from improved usability to increase user satisfaction, whether those users are employees, customers or citizens. This session will cover a four-step approach to effectively integrating journey mapping into your organization’s UX strategy process, inclusive of the applicable research methods and tools that help make journey mapping most effective.”

Measuring UX
with Hira Javed
OVERVIEW
User experience is the sum of a series of interaction. It’s about motivations, expectations, behaviours and attitudes, and that’s hard to quantify. In order to know whether something is working, a signal or an indication of progress is needed, and progress cannot be measured without a clear sense of what success looks like. Metrics are the signals that show whether a UX strategy is working or not. But signals can be ambiguous.
This presentation will focus on going beyond basic metrics for evaluating the impact of UX changes, and identifying effective KPIs for measuring the quality of UX.
OBJECTIVE
To understand the limitations of basic traffic metrics when it comes to measuring UX, and discuss Google’s HEART Framework for a holistic measure of quality UX.

Analysis In Agile: It's More than Just User StoriesKent McDonald
A common question asked by teams adopting agile is "what does business analysis look like in agile?" The common answer is "writing user stories".
WRONG!
Okay, maybe not wrong, but certainly not the whole story (pardon the pun). Business analysis in agile is concerned with understanding the problem and possible solutions in order to ensure the team is building the right thing. User stories can be helpful, but are certainly not sufficient for doing that.
In this session, Kent McDonald describes how you can perform just enough business analysis to discover the right things to build. This includes how to really use value to decide what to build first, why process flows, data models, and mockups are still extremely helpful, and why the function of user stories is more important than their form.
Along the way, Kent shares examples from a system replacement project he is working on and suggests ways you can apply these techniques to your own projects.

After a few rounds of practicing interviewing, the talk will end with tips on how to analyse the results and what can be done next.

Let’s face it - recruiting for your UX research and usability testing can sometimes feel like an onerous task. It can seem like the users you want to recruit have suddenly vanished from the planet, that there are never enough of them or that you simply don’t have the time to find them.
The good news is that your target users do exist and they are out there - you might just not be looking in all the right places. In this sense you can think of recruiting as like speed dating – you have to put yourself in the same space they are, and be able to quickly assess if they’re a good match. UserZoom Webinar: How to Conduct Web Customer Experience BenchmarkingUserZoom
You can't manage what you can't measure, so... How do you actually measure user experience?
In this webinar we covered what, why, and how to conduct website user experience & usability benchmarking. We discussed how to effectively measure the quality of a website's user experience across various competitors, within one industry, across time, using an online quantitative research methodology commonly referred to as "unmoderated remote usability testing."
Alfonso de la Nuez's talk, "How to conduct global UX benchmarking", at BigDesign event, about what, why, and how to conduct website user experience & usability benchmarking.
The goal of this presentation is to give attendees a deeper understanding of usability testing so they can leverage it in their own work. The material will shed light on what is important to the research buyer and will help the research provider to better understand how to plan, moderate, and report on a usability study. It will also provide information on where they can go to learn more about this very practical qualitative method.
Kay will cover what a usability test is and when to use it, the key planning steps, the language around it, and the unique insights this method produces. She will also discuss the various approaches a market researcher can take when running a usability study at different points in a product’s development (e.g., concept, early prototype, released product).

zkStudyClub - Reef: Fast Succinct Non-Interactive Zero-Knowledge Regex ProofsAlex Pruden
This paper presents Reef, a system for generating publicly verifiable succinct non-interactive zero-knowledge proofs that a committed document matches or does not match a regular expression. We describe applications such as proving the strength of passwords, the provenance of email despite redactions, the validity of oblivious DNS queries, and the existence of mutations in DNA. Reef supports the Perl Compatible Regular Expression syntax, including wildcards, alternation, ranges, capture groups, Kleene star, negations, and lookarounds. Reef introduces a new type of automata, Skipping Alternating Finite Automata (SAFA), that skips irrelevant parts of a document when producing proofs without undermining soundness, and instantiates SAFA with a lookup argument. Our experimental evaluation confirms that Reef can generate proofs for documents with 32M characters; the proofs are small and cheap to verify (under a second).

Observability Concepts EVERY Developer Should Know -- DeveloperWeek Europe.pdfPaige Cruz
Monitoring and observability aren’t traditionally found in software curriculums and many of us cobble this knowledge together from whatever vendor or ecosystem we were first introduced to and whatever is a part of your current company’s observability stack.
While the dev and ops silo continues to crumble….many organizations still relegate monitoring & observability as the purview of ops, infra and SRE teams. This is a mistake - achieving a highly observable system requires collaboration up and down the stack.
I, a former op, would like to extend an invitation to all application developers to join the observability party will share these foundational concepts to build on:
Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.
